- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, creeps.
- 0:11Speaker 2: It's me, the Crypt Keeper.
- 0:13Speaker 3: And you're listening to Movie Meltdown, the greatest movie geek
- 0:17Speaker 3: show on Earth.
- 0:24Speaker 4: It's showtime.
- 0:25Speaker 5: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:28Speaker 5: Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences
- 0:33Speaker 5: and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:35Speaker 6: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million.
- 0:39Speaker 7: Kilowatts of power.
- 1:20Speaker 8: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:22Speaker 7: I'm Misty.
- 1:23Speaker 9: And I'm Jay.
- 1:25Speaker 8: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from Lexington,
- 1:27Speaker 8: Kentucky and Scarefest. Once again, we're here. back at Scarefest.
- 1:32Speaker 7: I love Scarefest. It's one of my favoritest of all
- 1:34Speaker 7: the conventions that we go to.
- 1:35Speaker 8: It's an annual event. Yeah, I think I went back
- 1:39Speaker 8: and looked. I think all of them. I don't think
- 1:41Speaker 8: we've missed one. No. We've been there since they started
- 1:43Speaker 8: doing it.
- 1:44Speaker 9: I do like this convention.
- 1:46Speaker 7: It's one of my favorites out of all the ones
- 1:47Speaker 7: we go through. There's never been a time where I'm like,
- 1:49Speaker 7: you know, that kind of sucked. It's very consistently been,
- 1:53Speaker 7: you know what, that was amazing and fun. And they
- 1:56Speaker 7: almost always bring in guests that I'm pretty excited to see. So...
- 2:00Speaker 7: This year is not an exception because it's been extra
- 2:02Speaker 7: specially awesome this year.
- 2:03Speaker 8: They had good stuff. I had to stop myself. There
- 2:06Speaker 8: were two or three other things I wanted to be like,
- 2:08Speaker 8: but I want to buy that too. And then I
- 2:10Speaker 8: tried to control myself because I'm broke.
- 2:12Speaker 7: I scammed some free t-shirts from the CW Lexington because
- 2:14Speaker 7: I love free shit.
- 2:15Speaker 8: You cleaned out the CW table. You were like, dude,
- 2:18Speaker 8: what else you got? Get under there and find some
- 2:19Speaker 8: more stuff in that box.
- 2:20Speaker 7: You dig around in there.
- 2:21Speaker 8: You find me some more shit. You find me some stuff.
- 2:22Speaker 8: You better have something with iZombie on it. And then
- 2:24Speaker 8: she bitch slapped him and gave her a t-shirt that
- 2:28Speaker 8: probably fits. We don't know.
- 2:30Speaker 7: It's awesome. And he gave me, he insisted I take
- 2:32Speaker 7: a button after he saw that I had a, I'm
- 2:33Speaker 7: wearing my iZombie CW sweatshirt, my hoodie. I have my,
- 2:38Speaker 7: was it Legends of Tomorrow.
- 2:41Speaker 9: Backpack.
- 2:43Speaker 7: What else did I have that I should have with
- 2:44Speaker 7: CW that I was pretty excited about? Wasn't there something else?
- 2:47Speaker 7: Maybe I told him that I already had the squishy brain.
- 2:49Speaker 7: I was pretty excited about that. So yeah, he gave
- 2:53Speaker 7: me a button. He's like, well, you gotta put this
- 2:54Speaker 7: button on your bag. And I'm like, okay, I'm not
- 2:55Speaker 7: gonna argue with the man. All right.
- 3:00Speaker 8: We need to be getting some sort of kickback from CW.
- 3:04Speaker 7: I love the CW.
- 3:05Speaker 8: Or just get Guy Zombie Girl to be on the
- 3:07Speaker 8: show every week. That would be amazing.
- 3:09Speaker 7: Man, MacGyver. She's so cute.
- 3:11Speaker 8: That's my issue. Having seen her, I'm like, you know
- 3:14Speaker 8: that new MacGyver show they put out? There's the problem.
- 3:17Speaker 8: Why does it not have Rose MacGyver?
- 3:19Speaker 7: That would be so cute.
- 3:20Speaker 8: Because I would watch that. Her making bombs out of
- 3:23Speaker 8: bubble gum and paper clip. Man, I would watch her
- 3:26Speaker 8: do that every week. And she still has to keep
- 3:29Speaker 8: doing iZombie. We're going to double duty.
- 3:31Speaker 7: When she does the MacGyver show, she can just talk
- 3:33Speaker 7: in her real accent. That way it's like a completely
- 3:35Speaker 7: different person.
- 3:36Speaker 8: That would be interesting. Since we're not used to her
- 3:39Speaker 8: real voice.
- 3:39Speaker 7: It would be all weird. I was like, she said
- 3:42Speaker 7: good day or mate. What did she say?
- 3:44Speaker 10: Blimey.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Blimey.
- 3:45Speaker 8: They're wrong.
- 3:47Speaker 7: I don't even know. Cheers. She said cheers. That's what
- 3:50Speaker 7: it was.
- 3:50Speaker 8: Throw some shrimp on the barbie. I think she said that.
- 3:52Speaker 11: Cheers.
- 3:52Speaker 8: That's not cliche at all.
- 3:53Speaker 7: She said cheers.
- 3:55Speaker 8: Maybe she was just talking about her favorite sitcoms.
- 3:57Speaker 7: Maybe. Maybe.
- 3:58Speaker 8: She's like, Night Court, see you later.
- 4:01Speaker 7: But yeah, Scarefest, it's consistently been one of my favorites.
- 4:05Speaker 7: Like I said, my favorite part is that while they
- 4:07Speaker 7: do generally have a good turnout, it's never too crowded.
- 4:10Speaker 8: I always like breathing room, walking room. Yeah. Not being
- 4:16Speaker 8: around creepy people.
- 4:18Speaker 7: There were some still creepers there.
- 4:19Speaker 8: There's creepy people.
- 4:20Speaker 7: Usually us. What are you talking about?
- 4:21Speaker 8: All right, you get a point. So would you like
- 4:24Speaker 8: to do the rundown of all the amazing people you
- 4:26Speaker 8: met and maybe have high-fived today?
- 4:29Speaker 7: Oh, my God. There was only one person who high-fived me,
- 4:31Speaker 7: but I was high-fived multiple times.
- 4:33Speaker 8: It was at least twice.
- 4:34Speaker 7: At least twice and a handshake, which I got to admit,
- 4:36Speaker 7: he had a very firm handshake. First donor.
- 4:40Speaker 8: You're macking on this dude now.
- 4:42Speaker 7: I'm not. Anyway, Matthew Lillard was there.
- 4:46Speaker 4: He's adorable.
- 4:48Speaker 7: Okay. He has a personality that I would just not
- 4:52Speaker 7: have pegged for somebody. He's just.
- 4:55Speaker 8: He's very personable.
- 4:56Speaker 7: Very personable. Like, this little kid showed up.
- 5:00Speaker 8: He loved that little kid.
- 5:01Speaker 7: First of all, a little fucker cut in front of us.
- 5:02Speaker 8: Well, I think he earned his way in front of us.
- 5:06Speaker 7: I'm kidding.
- 5:06Speaker 8: Matthew walked to the back of the line, saw this
- 5:09Speaker 8: kid that was Scooby-Doo, and went, no, no, no, you
- 5:13Speaker 8: come up here with me. So, he gets to make
- 5:15Speaker 8: that call. He's Matthew Lillard.
- 5:17Speaker 7: And the kid gave him some, I think he bribed
- 5:18Speaker 7: him with some Scooby Snacks.
- 5:20Speaker 8: He did, actually.
- 5:21Speaker 9: He did.
- 5:21Speaker 8: He specifically brought him Scooby Snacks. I guess we didn't
- 5:24Speaker 8: bring him nothing. I guess that's what happens.
- 5:26Speaker 7: But for him to, like, he literally sat on the floor.
- 5:30Speaker 7: He sat his ass on the floor and, like, talking
- 5:33Speaker 7: to this little kid, you know, about how him, they're
- 5:36Speaker 7: best friends.
- 5:38Speaker 8: That seems to make sense, sure.
- 5:39Speaker 9: And he talked in his shaggy voice, too.
- 5:41Speaker 7: He did talk in his shaggy voice, which I'm sure
- 5:42Speaker 7: isn't much different than his regular voice. But anyways, he
- 5:45Speaker 7: just sat there for a good several minutes, just totally
- 5:48Speaker 7: talking to this kid, and just on his level, and
- 5:51Speaker 7: it was just like, I've never seen a celebrity, I mean,
- 5:55Speaker 7: on any level of celebrity, that's just like, I mean,
- 5:57Speaker 7: I've seen some that are kind of like, hey, kid,
- 5:59Speaker 7: you know, or kind of like, you know, maybe bend down,
- 6:00Speaker 7: but he got on the fucking floor.
- 6:03Speaker 8: I'm not really shocked.
- 6:04Speaker 10: It is Matthew Lohler.
- 6:05Speaker 8: He does seem like he would have no problem sitting
- 6:06Speaker 8: on the floor with a kid.
- 6:07Speaker 7: And then when it's time for the photo op, he
- 6:08Speaker 7: just grabbed that kid up and was holding him. And
- 6:10Speaker 7: we're just like, okay, dude, he's going to keep your kid.
- 6:13Speaker 7: You ain't getting that kid back.
- 6:14Speaker 8: He might. That's how Skeet got three kids.
- 6:17Speaker 7: Dude, seriously. I'm not going to lie. I was a
- 6:20Speaker 7: bit weary. I saw Skeet and I'm like, ooh, he
- 6:22Speaker 7: looks like one surly bitch.
- 6:23Speaker 8: He looked like he was not having a good time.
- 6:25Speaker 8: He was just kind of grumpy over there. And I
- 6:26Speaker 8: was like, hmm, well, I mean, I still like Skeet.
- 6:30Speaker 8: I want to get his autograph on his posters. I
- 6:32Speaker 8: guess we're going to go find out how grumpy he is.
- 6:34Speaker 8: Turns out, not at all.
- 6:35Speaker 7: He was so normal.
- 6:37Speaker 8: Ridiculously so, actually.
- 6:40Speaker 7: He's like a regular person you run into at the
- 6:42Speaker 7: grocery store normal. It was just like, whoa. He was
- 6:46Speaker 7: legitimately just normal. I'm not even going to say super nice.
- 6:50Speaker 7: Just normal. You know? Not like Matthew Lillard sitting on
- 6:54Speaker 7: the floor. I can't picture skating on the floor with
- 6:56Speaker 7: some random kid. But he might. I don't know.
- 7:00Speaker 8: He probably does with his kids. He did claim that
- 7:02Speaker 8: he has several children.
- 7:03Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 7:03Speaker 8: Three somewhat exactly.
- 7:06Speaker 7: But yeah, he was so just normal.
- 7:09Speaker 8: Just kind of talking about TV shows.
- 7:11Speaker 7: And it was funnier because when we were waiting in
- 7:12Speaker 7: line for Matthew Lillard after he bailed on us to
- 7:14Speaker 7: go to the bathroom and get a beverage.
- 7:15Speaker 8: He had to go to the bathroom and stop and
- 7:17Speaker 8: get booze.
- 7:18Speaker 7: There was plenty of empty water bottles on his table.
- 7:20Speaker 7: He didn't have to.
- 7:20Speaker 8: That is not what he wanted. Booze.
- 7:23Speaker 7: But anyways, yeah. While he's getting ready to leave, Skeet's
- 7:27Speaker 7: over there giving him shit, and I'm just laughing.
- 7:29Speaker 8: I like that he just started yelling at her. Well,
- 7:34Speaker 8: first of all, he said he wanted to take a break,
- 7:35Speaker 8: and he's like, a break?
- 7:37Speaker 5: For what?
- 7:38Speaker 8: And he just ignored him, and he just came closer
- 7:42Speaker 8: to the table and went, Matt! Matt, I'm talking to you.
- 7:48Speaker 8: And you can hear him with the girl he's talking
- 7:50Speaker 8: to that just got an autograph. He's like, just ignore him.
- 7:53Speaker 8: Don't even pay attention to him. He's his crazy, cranky neighbor.
- 7:59Speaker 8: I'll mow the lawn later.
- 8:01Speaker 7: Leave me alone, Kate.
- 8:02Speaker 8: Trying to conduct business over here. I do kind of
- 8:05Speaker 8: see a sitcom here.
- 8:06Speaker 7: I would totally watch that.
- 8:07Speaker 8: I would watch the whole thing.
- 8:07Speaker 7: I would watch the hell out of that.
- 8:09Speaker 8: That is awesome, actually. I'm going to start working on
- 8:10Speaker 8: that right now.
- 8:11Speaker 7: So yeah, both friendly people. We sat and talked to
- 8:14Speaker 7: Skeet for longer than... Well, the really sad part.
- 8:17Speaker 8: The weird part.
- 8:18Speaker 7: There was nobody in line for Skeet. Like, nobody.
- 8:21Speaker 8: Matthew Lillard had a big old line.
- 8:23Speaker 7: It was like, it went around the corner, out the room,
- 8:25Speaker 7: down the hallway.
- 8:26Speaker 8: I was like, at least they should be equal because
- 8:28Speaker 8: you're getting both of them on your screen poster, right?
- 8:30Speaker 8: But not necessarily.
- 8:32Speaker 7: I was like, what?
- 8:33Speaker 8: You got an undercurrent of Scooby kids. But other than that, like,
- 8:36Speaker 8: I didn't even see S.L. See, punk people, really. There
- 8:40Speaker 8: weren't a bunch of punk rock kids in line. Like,
- 8:41Speaker 8: it was just a couple of Scooby kids and, I guess,
- 8:44Speaker 8: scream people. But I'm like, why are you not in
- 8:46Speaker 8: Keith's line, too? You know he's in the movie, right?
- 8:48Speaker 7: I wonder if anybody else had Matthew Lillard profanity on
- 8:50Speaker 7: their posters.
- 8:51Speaker 8: Probably. Probably not. Well, you're kind of a weirdo.
- 8:54Speaker 7: I did. I did ask.
- 8:56Speaker 8: I knew what you were going to have him ask,
- 8:58Speaker 8: because you say it all the time. For no good reason,
- 9:00Speaker 8: half the time. You're just working in a normal conversation.
- 9:03Speaker 8: Fucking hit me with a bow, you dick.
- 9:07Speaker 7: Just randomly. If you throw anything even remotely near me.
- 9:12Speaker 7: Fucking hit me with a bow, you dick. Oh my God.
- 9:15Speaker 8: That was one of the best lines. We were standing
- 9:17Speaker 8: in line trying to come up with our favorite line
- 9:20Speaker 8: from the movie.
- 9:20Speaker 7: Because it was a toss up. It was either that
- 9:23Speaker 7: one or my mom and dad are going to be
- 9:25Speaker 7: so mad at me.
- 9:28Speaker 8: That or once he started saying, I'll be right back.
- 9:30Speaker 8: When he went to go to the bathroom, he high-fived
- 9:32Speaker 8: us all and said, I'll be right back. I'll be
- 9:33Speaker 8: right back. I'll be right back. I was like, oh,
- 9:36Speaker 8: that's the last time we saw him?
- 9:38Speaker 7: But yeah, because his line was, he talked to everybody
- 9:42Speaker 7: for a good five minutes at least.
- 9:45Speaker 8: Except for us. Once we got up there, he was like, ugh,
- 9:48Speaker 8: move these weirdos out of the way.
- 9:49Speaker 7: Because I'm not really a personable person like he is.
- 9:51Speaker 7: I'm like, all right, sign my shit and I'll let
- 9:52Speaker 7: me go.
- 9:52Speaker 8: That's mine. I don't know. You were in a hurry.
- 9:54Speaker 7: You were wanting to meet up with that girl.
- 9:56Speaker 8: I don't know how to be chatty like normal world.
- 9:59Speaker 8: Like I can only do it on the show. So
- 10:00Speaker 8: regularly at the tables, I'm like, hey, how's it going?
- 10:03Speaker 8: Sign this.
- 10:03Speaker 7: Did you ask for anything in particular written on your poster?
- 10:05Speaker 8: I told him, I was going to, again, because Skeet
- 10:08Speaker 8: kind of did his own thing. So I'm like, let's
- 10:09Speaker 8: just see where he goes. I'm like, what do you
- 10:11Speaker 8: want to go with? And then he picks something. What
- 10:14Speaker 8: the hell did he pick?
- 10:15Speaker 7: It's a scream, man. Or a scream baby. It's a
- 10:18Speaker 7: scream baby.
- 10:19Speaker 8: That's what he went with.
- 10:20Speaker 7: Which is pretty good.
- 10:21Speaker 8: I'm okay with that. Yeah, but you requested yours. I
- 10:24Speaker 8: just wanted to see where he went with it. I
- 10:25Speaker 8: was like, he didn't go with the other options, but yeah,
- 10:28Speaker 8: I don't like that one. Yeah, it is pretty. That's
- 10:30Speaker 8: very Matthew Lillard. Nobody else could have delivered that.
- 10:33Speaker 11: In the movie.
- 10:34Speaker 7: I thought about having it sound like a Scooby-Doo quote
- 10:36Speaker 7: on the screen poster.
- 10:37Speaker 8: I said that. I was like, do you have any
- 10:39Speaker 8: Scooby Snipes?
- 10:40Speaker 7: Zoinks! Oh wait, I forgot.
- 10:43Speaker 8: Ski came over and did that too. Yeah. When he left,
- 10:47Speaker 8: he was like, hold on, I gotta walk over here
- 10:49Speaker 8: and try to pretend to be Matt.
- 10:51Speaker 7: Zoinks!
- 10:52Speaker 8: Did I get it?
- 10:53Speaker 7: Did I get it? He was adorable. He's still kind
- 10:56Speaker 7: of hot.
- 10:57Speaker 12: Oh yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 8: I'm telling you. That's why I don't understand. I'm like,
- 11:00Speaker 8: I have seen way less attractive dudes at a convention.
- 11:03Speaker 8: Just pick up random convention girls. No offense if you
- 11:06Speaker 8: are a random convention girl. But seriously, you know, there's
- 11:09Speaker 8: lots of girls out there.
- 11:10Speaker 7: He has a fiance. Maybe he's not that type of person.
- 11:12Speaker 8: No, I will give him credit if he's not taking
- 11:14Speaker 8: them up on it. But I can't imagine girls not
- 11:17Speaker 8: throwing themselves at just about anybody at those things if
- 11:20Speaker 8: they're the right kind of girl. Let alone Skeet. He's
- 11:23Speaker 8: a pretty boy.
- 11:24Speaker 7: Come on.
- 11:25Speaker 8: Look at him. I don't know. I don't get it.
- 11:27Speaker 8: It's very strange.
- 11:28Speaker 7: One of the perks for waiting in our line forever
- 11:30Speaker 7: for Matthew Lillard to come back from his beverage run
- 11:33Speaker 7: was apparently the Crypt Keeper decided to come over and
- 11:36Speaker 7: give us his opinion of our posters.
- 11:37Speaker 8: John Cassir.
- 11:38Speaker 7: He liked them. He liked the layout. He did.
- 11:41Speaker 8: He thought we picked a good option. He said it's
- 11:44Speaker 8: a nice frameable work of art, which I agree. That's
- 11:47Speaker 8: why I went with that one.
- 11:48Speaker 7: It was very fantastic.
- 11:49Speaker 8: It's very cool. And the Crypt Keeper agrees.
- 11:52Speaker 7: That's the only reason I went with that one because
- 11:53Speaker 7: it didn't have one that had Matthew Lillard on it.
- 11:54Speaker 7: So if I can't get Matthew Lillard, then... I'm never
- 11:57Speaker 7: going to run into fucking Drew Barrymore, probably. You never know.
- 12:00Speaker 9: Or what's her name?
- 12:02Speaker 8: We might run into names. Courtney Cox?
- 12:05Speaker 13: No.
- 12:06Speaker 9: Neve Campbell.
- 12:07Speaker 7: She does some.
- 12:08Speaker 8: Does she? Not much, but she just did one a
- 12:11Speaker 8: couple months ago.
- 12:11Speaker 7: In Chicago, wasn't it?
- 12:12Speaker 8: We just didn't drive to Chicago.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:15Speaker 8: That time.
- 12:17Speaker 7: But I should have got Kevin Nash. Whenever I see him,
- 12:21Speaker 7: I'm like, I could get his autograph. But then it
- 12:22Speaker 7: was so much more for the photo op, and I'm like,
- 12:25Speaker 7: I'm waiting until I get a convention where they'll do
- 12:27Speaker 7: the photo op for free with the photo.
- 12:29Speaker 8: That's not going to happen.
- 12:30Speaker 7: I know. I know. It's so disappointing. That's my one
- 12:33Speaker 7: complaint about conventions in general lately.
- 12:35Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 12:36Speaker 8: That's just the movement of the business end of it.
- 12:39Speaker 8: It's just that is what it is. If they're going
- 12:42Speaker 8: to keep bringing in the people they are and they're
- 12:45Speaker 8: going to keep trying to up the ante on the
- 12:48Speaker 8: bigger conventions which is all well and good but the
- 12:51Speaker 8: fact that there are so many now is what's weird
- 12:53Speaker 8: i'm like you can't keep adding new conventions every weekend
- 12:56Speaker 8: i know because i keep going to them and then
- 12:58Speaker 8: like expect that to like sooner or later we're gonna
- 13:00Speaker 8: hit a breaking point right like that i just feel
- 13:02Speaker 8: like you can't keep doing that forever but i don't
- 13:05Speaker 8: know there's more and more like geek fan base growing
- 13:08Speaker 8: every day and Weird things that used to be cult
- 13:11Speaker 8: become more mainstream every day. So maybe you've got more
- 13:14Speaker 8: leeway than I used to think. I don't know.
- 13:16Speaker 7: But now I have to go back in time to
- 13:18Speaker 7: go to Whiz... Not Whizzer. Fucking hell. Whorehound and get
- 13:23Speaker 7: Jamie Kennedy.
- 13:25Speaker 8: When he was under the table.
- 13:26Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 13:26Speaker 7: And David Arquette. To sign my poster retrospectively.
- 13:32Speaker 8: You'll see them again.
- 13:33Speaker 7: I probably will.
- 13:33Speaker 8: I'm sure you will.
- 13:35Speaker 7: My only complaint about their signature is they both use
- 13:37Speaker 7: gold pins. Two different shades of gold. Totally fucking mush
- 13:40Speaker 7: it up.
- 13:41Speaker 8: You have a lot of specific things going on.
- 13:42Speaker 7: I do have a very lot of specific things. I
- 13:43Speaker 7: should have been like, hey, can you borrow Skeet's marker
- 13:45Speaker 7: so that they'll match? Or at least use silver. Don't
- 13:47Speaker 7: use two different golds because one of them is more
- 13:48Speaker 7: of an orangey gold. One of them is more of
- 13:50Speaker 7: like a goldy gold.
- 13:51Speaker 8: And then you'd say all that and he'd go, yeah,
- 13:53Speaker 8: don't talk to that guy. Don't you talk to him either.
- 13:56Speaker 9: Just ignore him.
- 13:56Speaker 8: Just ignore him.
- 13:58Speaker 7: Matt!
- 13:59Speaker 8: Matt! Here's my Sharpie.
- 14:02Speaker 12: Shh, shh, shh.
- 14:04Speaker 8: His vision's based on movement. Just don't move. Just don't move.
- 14:05Speaker 8: He won't see us.
- 14:07Speaker 7: Where'd y'all go? I mean, Skeet was like, he wandered
- 14:10Speaker 7: off to talk to some other people.
- 14:12Speaker 4: He did.
- 14:13Speaker 8: Again, he was so normal. He didn't even pay much
- 14:16Speaker 8: attention to his table. Sadly, he didn't have a ton
- 14:18Speaker 8: of people around, so he was just like, nah, I'm
- 14:19Speaker 8: going over here. He just went over and was talking
- 14:21Speaker 8: to other people, talking to other tables. It was pretty
- 14:24Speaker 8: damn entertaining.
- 14:25Speaker 7: He's so adorable.
- 14:26Speaker 8: He's pretty cool. I'm rounding out the rest of my
- 14:30Speaker 8: summer school group. Last couple of weeks ago, after I
- 14:34Speaker 8: talked to Dean, I also had Gary Riley sign my
- 14:38Speaker 8: summer school poster.
- 14:40Speaker 7: Can you get that dog to sign it? That dog's
- 14:43Speaker 7: probably dead. No, he's not. That dog is way dead.
- 14:46Speaker 8: He's in Hollywood making more movies.
- 14:48Speaker 7: He's like 498 people years. Dog years.
- 14:51Speaker 8: Wonder Mutts awesome and just fine. Anyway, so I did
- 14:56Speaker 8: see Kelly Jo Minter and she signed my poster and
- 14:59Speaker 8: she was super cool. And I'm totally working on getting
- 15:01Speaker 8: her on the show later. Awesome. Because she's super cool.
- 15:04Speaker 12: Awesome.
- 15:05Speaker 7: But let's talk about what else we saw that was
- 15:07Speaker 7: super awesome. A wolf. A wolf and a fox and
- 15:13Speaker 7: a cute little baby kitten.
- 15:15Speaker 8: I'm still pretty taken with that wolf.
- 15:16Speaker 7: That wolf was fucking amazing.
- 15:17Speaker 8: That wolf was badass.
- 15:18Speaker 7: He was so chill.
- 15:20Speaker 8: I would totally hang out with that wolf.
- 15:22Speaker 7: That's why I'd give him a cuddle like that. Because
- 15:23Speaker 7: later when they brought the fox out, the fox was like,
- 15:26Speaker 7: fuck you, this is my pillow.
- 15:27Speaker 8: Yeah, the fox was just all up on the wolf.
- 15:29Speaker 8: And he's just like, ugh, get off me.
- 15:31Speaker 7: It's kind of like Skeet and Matt. I'm not sure
- 15:36Speaker 7: which one's the weird one on that one. Wolf!
- 15:37Speaker 8: Wolf, I'm going to lay on you now. Just ignore him.
- 15:43Speaker 8: He'll probably lay on my butt. But just leave him alone.
- 15:45Speaker 8: Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. He's talking
- 15:48Speaker 8: to the cat right now. Cat, cat, just ignore him.
- 15:50Speaker 8: He won't try to eat you, I swear. Just ignore.
- 15:54Speaker 14: Him.
- 15:54Speaker 8: We're easily entertained.
- 15:56Speaker 7: The kitten was so cute.
- 15:58Speaker 8: I would also watch this show. The Wolf and the Fox.
- 16:01Speaker 8: The Wolf, the Fox, and the Kitty. Thursdays on Fox.
- 16:07Speaker 7: It would get canceled after five episodes.
- 16:08Speaker 8: Yeah, maybe three.
- 16:10Speaker 7: It would be the best show ever. But only if
- 16:12Speaker 7: Skeet and Matt are doing the voices. Which we also
- 16:15Speaker 7: discovered that Skeet's real name Not Skeet.
- 16:18Speaker 8: Yeah, what's up with that?
- 16:19Speaker 7: What the hell?
- 16:19Speaker 8: What kind of a dork is a name like Brian?
- 16:22Speaker 12: Uh-huh.
- 16:22Speaker 8: Seriously.
- 16:23Speaker 7: What the hell? Brian Ray Trout. I busted it all out.
- 16:27Speaker 7: I should have made him sign it on my poster.
- 16:28Speaker 7: If I'd have known at the time that that was
- 16:30Speaker 7: his real name, I'd be like, uh, no, that's not
- 16:31Speaker 7: your real name.
- 16:33Speaker 8: You should have brought like a NASCAR poster and had
- 16:35Speaker 8: him sign it.
- 16:35Speaker 7: Dude.
- 16:36Speaker 8: Because he outed himself for that. He said his whole
- 16:39Speaker 8: family is NASCAR drivers and stuff. I'm like, well, with
- 16:41Speaker 8: that name, I mean, shit. You ain't got much choice.
- 16:44Speaker 8: You're lucky you changed it so you could escape.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 16:48Speaker 7: He was so nice.
- 16:50Speaker 8: They were both pretty fun, but Skeet was damn entertaining.
- 16:53Speaker 7: Zoinks. We saw the most depressing non-line for Tracy Lord.
- 16:59Speaker 8: Yeah, that was kind of sad.
- 17:00Speaker 10: Yeah, that was.
- 17:01Speaker 7: I'm like, really? Because we've seen her before at conventions,
- 17:04Speaker 7: and there was a line.
- 17:05Speaker 8: She had a big line. She had one of the
- 17:06Speaker 8: biggest lines at that other convention.
- 17:10Speaker 7: But yeah, there was nobody. Like, literally nobody.
- 17:13Speaker 8: Yeah, literally nobody.
- 17:15Speaker 7: It's very weird. Leta Ford had more.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Of a line.
- 17:17Speaker 8: She didn't have a line either.
- 17:19Speaker 7: She had like one person there.
- 17:22Speaker 9: Every time we walked by Leta Ford's table, there was
- 17:25Speaker 9: somebody standing there talking to her.
- 17:27Speaker 8: I think they were just hitting on her.
- 17:29Speaker 11: And I don't really know why.
- 17:30Speaker 7: It's not like she could see them or anything. She
- 17:33Speaker 7: had like the waterfall of hair that came over like
- 17:35Speaker 7: a good majority of her face.
- 17:36Speaker 8: She seems pretty pleased with herself.
- 17:38Speaker 7: She's okay.
- 17:39Speaker 8: I mean, I was all fine with her back in
- 17:43Speaker 8: the day, but I don't know.
- 17:44Speaker 9: I still think that one guy when we were up
- 17:46Speaker 9: at that last convention that brought up, was it Joan
- 17:49Speaker 9: Jett or somebody?
- 17:50Speaker 8: That's the thing. I've just become more Team Joan as
- 17:53Speaker 8: time's gone on.
- 17:53Speaker 9: She got real mad.
- 17:54Speaker 7: I mean, if you're going to pick a side, there's
- 17:56Speaker 7: no real choice.
- 17:57Speaker 8: That's what I'm saying.
- 17:58Speaker 7: You're definitely going to go with Joan Jett.
- 18:02Speaker 8: I'll pick Team that chick from the Bengals, because even
- 18:04Speaker 8: she's cooler than Lita Full.
- 18:06Speaker 7: Susie, Susanna Hoff.
- 18:07Speaker 8: Susanna. Well, she is too, but no, the, the bassist
- 18:11Speaker 8: was in the runaways towards the very end and wrote
- 18:15Speaker 8: an awesome song. One of those, uh, following go, go look. We'll,
- 18:19Speaker 8: we'll listen to it here.
- 18:20Speaker 11: It's, it's awesome.
- 18:22Speaker 8: So, um, trying to think what else we did. It
- 18:25Speaker 8: seems like we did a lot.
- 18:27Speaker 7: Well, it was at the bookstore cause Missy's a fucking weirdo.
- 18:29Speaker 8: Missy is insane and she thinks she can read.
- 18:34Speaker 7: Two of my books were along the lines of choose
- 18:36Speaker 7: your own adventure books although not necessarily choose your own
- 18:39Speaker 7: adventure books I forget what.
- 18:41Speaker 8: Pick a path something like make a choice yeah get
- 18:44Speaker 8: your shit together hold on we're gonna bust it out
- 18:48Speaker 8: oh god alright drumroll please Misty has found her books.
- 18:59Speaker 7: They are from the plot it yourself see I was
- 19:02Speaker 7: close Plot It Yourself books. I got the Magnum P.I.
- 19:07Speaker 7: Maui Mystery No. 1 written by William Rotzler. That's an
- 19:13Speaker 7: awkward name.
- 19:15Speaker 8: So are those Magnum shorts. Those are so awkward.
- 19:19Speaker 7: Little white shorty shorts with the white polo shirt. Yes, Magnum.
- 19:23Speaker 8: That's a tight polo shirt, by the way. It matches
- 19:25Speaker 8: his shorts.
- 19:27Speaker 7: Glorious. And then we've got the, again, Plot It Yourself
- 19:32Speaker 7: The A-Team, number one defense against terror. They have number
- 19:36Speaker 7: one on both sides of the thing. Is that redundant?
- 19:39Speaker 8: Yeah, they're just balancing out. It's symmetric.
- 19:44Speaker 7: Again by William Rotzler.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 19:48Speaker 7: That's my big purchase. That's what I'm most excited about.
- 19:50Speaker 7: about for the day, I think.
- 19:51Speaker 8: Did you guys know that there were Choose Your Own
- 19:52Speaker 8: Adventure books for Magnum PI in the A-Team? Because I
- 19:56Speaker 8: didn't know that.
- 19:56Speaker 7: Plot it yourself.
- 19:57Speaker 8: I didn't know anything about it. Yeah, if you were
- 19:59Speaker 8: aware and already have a full collection, go and email
- 20:02Speaker 8: in and let us know.
- 20:03Speaker 7: And if you do, I'm jealous.
- 20:05Speaker 8: Yeah, if you want to just But we need photographic evidence.
- 20:09Speaker 8: So take a picture of yourself in front of your
- 20:11Speaker 8: massive collection of choose-your-own magnums.
- 20:13Speaker 7: Because I'm not going to just believe you if you're
- 20:14Speaker 7: just saying it. Because I could say all kinds of
- 20:16Speaker 7: crazy shit.
- 20:17Speaker 8: She can trade you. It'll be pictures of her bajillion
- 20:20Speaker 8: books she has at home.
- 20:20Speaker 7: I do have quite a few books.
- 20:22Speaker 8: Just a few.
- 20:23Speaker 7: Such excitement.
- 20:25Speaker 8: And don't worry. I'll load it up with some more soundtracks.
- 20:28Speaker 8: So more soundtrack episodes are coming your way. Whether you
- 20:30Speaker 8: like it or not. At this point, I don't care.
- 20:32Speaker 8: I have to do something with all these soundtracks I
- 20:33Speaker 8: buy every time we go to these... Book slash CD stores.
- 20:36Speaker 7: Do you do buy a lot of them?
- 20:38Speaker 8: I bought a lot of soundtracks in the last couple
- 20:39Speaker 8: of weeks.
- 20:41Speaker 7: A lot.
- 20:42Speaker 8: Last time I had to carry a box out. It
- 20:45Speaker 8: was ridiculous. You did.
- 20:46Speaker 9: I remember. I was there.
- 20:48Speaker 1: No.
- 20:49Speaker 8: You helped me pick half of them out.
- 20:50Speaker 7: You're like, look at this one.
- 20:51Speaker 8: Look at this one.
- 20:52Speaker 7: I was like, let's do it.
- 20:52Speaker 9: Damn it.
- 20:53Speaker 8: Stop giving me these because I'm going to buy them.
- 20:56Speaker 7: But we have to go look at more things.
- 20:58Speaker 8: I don't even have room to put these things anymore.
- 21:01Speaker 7: It doesn't stop me.
- 21:01Speaker 8: It doesn't stop me from getting them, so. Somebody's going
- 21:04Speaker 8: to have to listen to these songs.
- 21:07Speaker 7: I thought about getting one of those beds that has
- 21:08Speaker 7: bookshelves underneath it. Then I realized that.
- 21:10Speaker 8: You'd have to have a giant bed.
- 21:12Speaker 7: I realized that we'd be touching the ceiling.
- 21:14Speaker 8: Princess and the Pea action. You'd be stacked all the
- 21:16Speaker 8: way up there. I would. I'd have a ladder.
- 21:19Speaker 7: I'd have to run and jump like the kid. But
- 21:22Speaker 7: then I'd have to pole vault my ass up there.
- 21:25Speaker 8: Probably.
- 21:27Speaker 7: The one thing I've got to say that I do
- 21:28Speaker 7: not like... The one thing that I hate generally about
- 21:32Speaker 7: most conventions... particularly scarefest the only complaint i have.
- 21:36Speaker 8: This has been our running complaint though that's the thing
- 21:37Speaker 8: everything about it is awesome except this one thing that
- 21:40Speaker 8: they keep letting go.
- 21:42Speaker 7: On because i haven't noticed it so much as any
- 21:45Speaker 7: other convention you know but i noticed it at every
- 21:47Speaker 7: one of these conventions.
- 21:48Speaker 8: That's why it worries me that they they're like okay
- 21:51Speaker 8: and encouraging this sort of behavior okay.
- 21:53Speaker 7: What is it fucking annoying clown that's what i thought
- 21:56Speaker 7: you were gonna say.
- 21:57Speaker 8: Or just the people that get up in your face.
- 21:58Speaker 8: We've said that for years. Like, I remember all these episodes. Like,
- 22:01Speaker 8: why is that a cool thing to be like, duh!
- 22:03Speaker 8: And they make noises.
- 22:04Speaker 7: You can be a clown over there in your own business,
- 22:06Speaker 7: in your own space, but when you come up near
- 22:08Speaker 7: me and yell, you're going to get punched in the
- 22:10Speaker 7: face eventually.
- 22:11Speaker 8: He had his weird horn that he kept hitting every
- 22:13Speaker 8: time he would go past somebody.
- 22:14Speaker 7: Sounded like turkeys?
- 22:15Speaker 8: I don't know. Yeah, he had a turkey call, too.
- 22:18Speaker 8: He was weird. Yeah, I hated that guy. Not a
- 22:19Speaker 8: good weird, just annoying.
- 22:21Speaker 7: Because it's like, this has been a running, it's like
- 22:23Speaker 7: every year there's some variation of that.
- 22:26Speaker 8: Some weird thing that runs up and gets in people's
- 22:28Speaker 8: faces and somehow.
- 22:30Speaker 9: They think it's funny. Is it part of the clown
- 22:31Speaker 9: circus thing? Freak show?
- 22:34Speaker 7: I think so, but I don't know what's going on
- 22:36Speaker 7: and I don't approve. You know? Like I said, you
- 22:40Speaker 7: can be a clown, whatever, be a clown in your
- 22:41Speaker 7: own time. Do not try to force your clownness on me.
- 22:44Speaker 8: That's what I'm saying. Just everybody's personal space. That's all
- 22:47Speaker 8: I'm saying.
- 22:47Speaker 9: Either that or it's for.
- 22:48Speaker 7: A haunted house?
- 22:49Speaker 9: Yeah, I think there was a haunted house that featured
- 22:52Speaker 9: a lot of clown stuff. And there was a table
- 22:54Speaker 9: that had a bunch of.
- 22:54Speaker 7: Them sitting there. Well, you think these clowns need to
- 22:55Speaker 7: be a better judge of character and realize, oh, wait,
- 22:57Speaker 7: that person might punch me.
- 22:59Speaker 8: Yeah, as he walked by and did it to me,
- 23:01Speaker 8: I was like, just, there was fists waving right behind
- 23:04Speaker 8: his head. I'm like, dude, really? I don't want to
- 23:08Speaker 8: have to shut this place down. Don't make us murder
- 23:11Speaker 8: a bunch of clowns.
- 23:11Speaker 7: I can't picture you punching somebody.
- 23:14Speaker 8: It depends on who it is. Some people need to
- 23:16Speaker 8: be punched.
- 23:17Speaker 7: Some people do need to be punched.
- 23:19Speaker 8: I can control myself most of the time, but some
- 23:21Speaker 8: people cross a line. It ain't good.
- 23:23Speaker 7: Clowns usually, I mean, like I said, I don't mind
- 23:25Speaker 7: clowns in general. I don't like clowns, but I'm not like,
- 23:28Speaker 7: I need to punch every clown in the face. But
- 23:30Speaker 7: when they're just obnoxious.
- 23:31Speaker 8: Keep to yourself, clowns. That's all I'm saying.
- 23:34Speaker 7: I didn't buy anything. I bought an Elvira.
- 23:37Speaker 8: Sorry to say, Elvira, because I have one too.
- 23:38Speaker 7: I bought a tiny Elvira because she was the cutest goddamn.
- 23:40Speaker 7: They're the Funko Mystery Minis, I guess. They usually come
- 23:44Speaker 7: blind box or whatever. And I love them because I
- 23:46Speaker 7: fucking suck her for whenever I see them at Target.
- 23:48Speaker 7: Usually at Target because they're like six bucks at Target.
- 23:50Speaker 7: I'm like, you can't not buy one for six bucks,
- 23:52Speaker 7: but they're usually sold out. I'm waiting for the new series.
- 23:54Speaker 7: Love them. They're so fucking cute. It's painful how cute
- 23:57Speaker 7: they are.
- 23:58Speaker 8: There are a lot of really good ones, I have
- 23:59Speaker 8: to say.
- 24:00Speaker 7: Of course, the one I want is the short box one,
- 24:02Speaker 7: the hardest, rarest one to get. I want the little pinhead.
- 24:05Speaker 8: I can see that. Oh my gosh. Doug would be proud. Oh,
- 24:07Speaker 8: he's so cute.
- 24:08Speaker 7: But like, I look on eBay and there's like a
- 24:09Speaker 7: hundred and I'm like, are you serious? It's like two
- 24:11Speaker 7: inches of plastic. Fuck you.
- 24:13Speaker 8: We need to get Doug on that and be like, look,
- 24:15Speaker 8: Doug says he wants a box of them sent over
- 24:17Speaker 8: to his house and he can give us one in
- 24:19Speaker 8: the process.
- 24:20Speaker 7: So cute, though. Oh, my gosh. The little Alfred Hitchcock
- 24:25Speaker 7: one is probably one of my favorites.
- 24:26Speaker 8: That one I really like. I still have not gotten
- 24:29Speaker 8: it a couple of times now because half the time
- 24:31Speaker 8: they're scuffed up, too. So I'm trying to find one.
- 24:34Speaker 7: I bought the blind box and it happened to be
- 24:36Speaker 7: the one I got.
- 24:36Speaker 8: That's the thing. I've gotten them once they're loose and
- 24:38Speaker 8: then they can get all banged up.
- 24:40Speaker 7: That's why I was surprised the Elvira was recently opened.
- 24:43Speaker 8: Yeah, he must have just opened it this morning because
- 24:45Speaker 8: I don't know. So cute. Oh my God. All right.
- 24:50Speaker 8: I think we should take a break and then we
- 24:53Speaker 8: can talk about the movie and maybe bring in a guest. Yes.
- 24:57Speaker 8: We'll see who we can wrangle up. Yeah, no, it's
- 24:59Speaker 8: rare that we talk to people.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Ugh.
- 25:01Speaker 7: Except Matthew Lillard. We probably could have talked to Skeet.
- 25:05Speaker 8: I was kind of thinking that. I was like, Skeet,
- 25:06Speaker 8: you ever seen Cujo? But yeah, I thought maybe he
- 25:09Speaker 8: would be like, I'll charge you. Can we bug Matt
- 25:12Speaker 8: while we're doing it? Because that'd be a lot of fun.
- 25:14Speaker 7: Except for he had a line. We couldn't have got
- 25:17Speaker 7: Matthew Lillard.
- 25:17Speaker 8: Well, I know. We'd sit at Skeet's table, and then
- 25:20Speaker 8: every few minutes, we'd just yell things at Matt.
- 25:23Speaker 7: Matt!
- 25:24Speaker 8: You got a St.
- 25:25Speaker 7: Bernard at home? Matt! You know, you got a Great Dane.
- 25:28Speaker 7: You got a Great Dane. I was like, we could
- 25:30Speaker 7: have stopped by Tracy Lord's table on the way out,
- 25:32Speaker 7: grabbed her, and went out in the hallway and talked
- 25:34Speaker 7: about some shit. I'm up for that.
- 25:36Speaker 8: Tracy seems like an interesting girl. She's lived a hell
- 25:39Speaker 8: of a life, I can tell you that. All right,
- 25:42Speaker 8: so let's do that right now. Yeah, let's.
- 25:47Speaker 7: You think I'm crazy or something? Always following you around.
- 25:51Speaker 7: You say I'm a homeless case.
- 25:53Speaker 6: Running obsession into the ground.
- 26:03Speaker 7: Call me a loser. You call me a shadow and fool.
- 26:07Speaker 7: Look over your shoulder.
- 26:10Speaker 14: And you say I'm haunting you.
- 26:19Speaker 3: So why do you call me?
- 26:24Speaker 7: Why do you look for me?
- 26:27Speaker 6: Why do your eyes follow me the way they do?
- 26:42Speaker 1: When you're on a picnic, hot dogs are mighty good
- 26:44Speaker 1: this way. But when you're here at the theater, hot
- 26:47Speaker 1: dogs are at their best. We start with the choicest franks.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Cook them until they're just right. Make available your favorite
- 26:53Speaker 1: seasonings and leave the rest to you. Everyone likes our
- 26:57Speaker 1: hot dogs. Why not get one for everyone right now?
- 27:02Speaker 15: It's his night to howl, Dracula's dog. The meanest vampire

- 28:42Speaker 7: Wow!
- 28:42Speaker 9: What are you kids watching?
- 28:50Speaker 7: The newsletters turned into a werewolf.
- 28:53Speaker 1: That's part of your problem, you know.
- 28:55Speaker 15: You haven't seen enough movies.
- 28:56Speaker 7: All of life's riddles are answered in the movies. And now,
- 29:01Speaker 7: on with the show.
- 29:07Speaker 14: Cool Joe, just a beating by a bat, lying very low,
- 29:15Speaker 14: looking like a rat.
- 29:18Speaker 9: Cool Joe, isn't looking very.
- 29:43Speaker 8: All right, so we're now here on the floor, literally
- 29:46Speaker 8: on the floor at Scarefest. Joining us now, Amber, we
- 29:52Speaker 8: came in contact. I would say you were on the show,
- 29:54Speaker 8: but you weren't on the show that episode. We didn't
- 29:55Speaker 8: do anything specifically that weekend. So the Mick Garris tie-in
- 30:00Speaker 8: to your film fest. So I guess tell people what
- 30:03Speaker 8: you've been involved in and are working on.
- 30:06Speaker 7: Okay.
- 30:07Speaker 9: Well, hi, I'm Amber.
- 30:08Speaker 14: Hi.
- 30:08Speaker 10: Hi.
- 30:10Speaker 4: So I met Mick Garris last March at Horror Hound
- 30:14Speaker 4: in Cincinnati. Got to talking, met him, really nice guy.
- 30:19Speaker 4: I'm a huge fan of Critters 2. I'm a fan
- 30:22Speaker 4: of the Masters of Horror that he does, all the
- 30:25Speaker 4: other directors. I'm a fan of Sleepwalkers and, of course,
- 30:28Speaker 4: Hocus Pocus. And then a couple months later, my college,
- 30:34Speaker 4: WKU in Bowling Green, was looking for guests for their
- 30:36Speaker 4: annual film festival event. I had some professors contact me
- 30:40Speaker 4: and ask me if I met anybody cool at Whorehound.
- 30:43Speaker 4: And I said, well, I met mostly actors and actresses,
- 30:46Speaker 4: but I did meet Mick Garris. And it was sort
- 30:49Speaker 4: of a fluke, but I decided to email him and
- 30:51Speaker 4: see if he was interested in coming to the festival.
- 30:54Speaker 4: And he said yes. So long story short, he showed
- 30:57Speaker 4: up and that was fun.
- 30:59Speaker 8: And he was awesome.
- 31:00Speaker 4: Yeah, he's an awesome guy. But since then I've graduated
- 31:03Speaker 4: and now I'm just sort of, I'm working on... The
- 31:07Speaker 4: sequel to Volumes of Blood, called Volumes of Blood Horror Stories.
- 31:10Speaker 4: The first one's actually showing this weekend.
- 31:12Speaker 8: As long as PJ's still involved.
- 31:14Speaker 4: Yeah, PJ is still involved. Eric Huston's still involved. Nathan
- 31:18Speaker 4: Milliner's done a couple segments on this one. Justin Seaman,
- 31:22Speaker 4: who actually has The Barn showing this weekend, he did
- 31:24Speaker 4: a segment as well. So we just wrapped that, I think,
- 31:27Speaker 4: a couple weekends ago. So the after party will be
- 31:31Speaker 4: the end of this month.
- 31:32Speaker 7: All right.
- 31:35Speaker 8: Have you picked a direction? Is there a specific area
- 31:38Speaker 8: of film you're more drawn to?
- 31:42Speaker 4: For me, I mostly enjoy on-site production stuff. If not
- 31:47Speaker 4: directing or producing, then I'll do pretty much any crew
- 31:49Speaker 4: position on production. Pre-production I like as well. The only
- 31:53Speaker 4: thing that I'm not super keen on is post, but
- 31:56Speaker 4: I'll do it if needed.
- 31:58Speaker 8: All I do is edit audio, so I think I'm
- 32:00Speaker 8: in the post world. You're in the post world. I
- 32:02Speaker 8: think I exist in.
- 32:03Speaker 9: The post world.
- 32:04Speaker 7: I just show up and talk nonsense.
- 32:05Speaker 8: Yeah, that's true. Although I am producer because I organize
- 32:08Speaker 8: this nonsense all day long, so I'm on both sides.
- 32:11Speaker 8: I'm on all sides. I'm the only one running the show. But, yeah,
- 32:18Speaker 8: if we want to roll into the movie.
- 32:19Speaker 10: It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 32:25Speaker 5: Nothing that lives in the imagination. is more frightening than
- 32:34Speaker 5: the terror that lives in Castle Rock, Maine.
- 32:38Speaker 7: Cujo?
- 32:42Speaker 12: Cujo?
- 32:47Speaker 7: Can you.
- 32:53Speaker 10: Get us in here? Can he eat his way.
- 33:13Speaker 7: In here? Can he? My God, I'm losing my baby.
- 33:20Speaker 14: Oh, my God!
- 33:29Speaker 5: From the novel by Stephen King, creator of Carrie and
- 33:32Speaker 5: The Shining, comes a startling vision of fear.
- 33:36Speaker 8: Please, God, get me out of here.
- 33:43Speaker 5: Now there's a new name for terror.
- 33:50Speaker 12: What?
- 33:50Speaker 8: Cujo. So yeah, once we were there hanging out that weekend,
- 33:54Speaker 8: I was like, okay, well, we were trying to find
- 33:58Speaker 8: normal horror geek stuff that we all have in common,
- 34:00Speaker 8: as horror geeks do. And we brought up conventions, and
- 34:03Speaker 8: you were like, are you going to be at Scarefest?
- 34:05Speaker 8: I'm like, I'm sure I will be. I'm always there.
- 34:08Speaker 8: So I was like, all right. Then let's start planning
- 34:11Speaker 8: an episode. And now it's come together. So I was
- 34:15Speaker 8: just like, what movie do you want?
- 34:16Speaker 7: I love it when a plan comes together.
- 34:18Speaker 8: Are you going to high five yourself?
- 34:20Speaker 7: I was getting ready to, but I was afraid that
- 34:22Speaker 7: I would make too much noise. Yeah, I did it.
- 34:25Speaker 8: So the plan was to have you pick a movie.
- 34:27Speaker 8: So did you specifically pick Cujo or did it just
- 34:31Speaker 8: come together? Or is it one that you've always been
- 34:33Speaker 8: hardcore about?
- 34:36Speaker 4: I've been pretty hardcore about Cujo for a long time. Um,
- 34:40Speaker 4: my mom was a huge horror fan.
- 34:42Speaker 7: She is still is.
- 34:43Speaker 9: Um, she's thankfully alive.
- 34:46Speaker 7: Thank God.
- 34:47Speaker 8: For many, many more years.
- 34:48Speaker 7: Love her to death.
- 34:50Speaker 4: Um, but she, I mean, open my world to worry
- 34:53Speaker 4: when I was a little kid. Um, My parents weren't
- 34:55Speaker 4: very strict as far as me watching anything. So, you know,
- 34:59Speaker 4: Child's Play, Pet Sematary, Tales of the Crypt. I watched
- 35:02Speaker 4: all that stuff when I was a kid.
- 35:04Speaker 7: Caligula.
- 35:07Speaker 4: They were really, really like not very strict. So the
- 35:12Speaker 4: first time I saw Cujo, I was, you know, not
- 35:15Speaker 4: even the double digits. I think I was like eight
- 35:16Speaker 4: or nine or something. And I didn't think it was scary.
- 35:20Speaker 4: I really liked it.
- 35:20Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 35:22Speaker 4: And then I was also into the whole Jurassic Park,
- 35:25Speaker 4: and I think The Edge had come out, and Ghost
- 35:28Speaker 4: in the Darkness. So a lot of animals attacking people.
- 35:31Speaker 7: Just like animals.
- 35:31Speaker 4: Really into that a lot as a kid.
- 35:34Speaker 8: Did you see the wolf downstairs? There's a wolf downstairs
- 35:37Speaker 8: right now.
- 35:38Speaker 7: Did you see him?
- 35:39Speaker 8: You can take your picture with a wolf.
- 35:40Speaker 7: I did, I did.
- 35:41Speaker 4: I kind of felt bad because he looked kind of
- 35:42Speaker 4: drugged out or something.
- 35:43Speaker 8: I didn't really want.
- 35:44Speaker 4: To take a picture of him.
- 35:46Speaker 8: We decided he's just chill.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I felt bad for him. Anyway, I recently watched it.
- 35:53Speaker 4: I want to say a couple years ago, and I
- 35:55Speaker 4: was honestly just blown away by how it still stands up.
- 36:00Speaker 4: It's so well-directed. The stunts and special effects it did
- 36:03Speaker 4: with that dog is so great. The suspense, the terror,
- 36:08Speaker 4: the performances, that's the best performance from Dee Wallace, hands down,
- 36:12Speaker 4: in my opinion.
- 36:13Speaker 7: ATEEZ mom?
- 36:16Speaker 8: That was at this convention, by the way. Many a
- 36:18Speaker 8: year ago, as we passed by her table, one of
- 36:20Speaker 8: these guys in front of us was like, Look, it's E.T.
- 36:23Speaker 8: 's mom. Which we were like, I don't think that's
- 36:26Speaker 8: exactly how that worked. That birth would be terrible, by
- 36:29Speaker 8: the way.
- 36:30Speaker 4: That would be an interesting prequel, I guess, to E.T.
- 36:33Speaker 8: Just that head is not made for childbirth. No, look
- 36:36Speaker 8: at that.
- 36:36Speaker 7: You pop it down so that it's more compact.
- 36:38Speaker 8: Compact, and then he just rolls out.
- 36:40Speaker 7: Because of the neck, it's like a bullet.
- 36:44Speaker 4: He just touches her belly button with his glowing finger
- 36:47Speaker 4: and just opens up.
- 36:48Speaker 7: That's a whole other movie right there. Too far. Maybe.
- 36:51Speaker 9: Sorry.
- 36:53Speaker 8: Start writing that right now. We want pre-production on this
- 36:57Speaker 8: by tomorrow. Well, okay. Let's officially do the rundown here.
- 37:02Speaker 8: This week's Silver Theater feature is Cujo. The year is 1983.
- 37:06Speaker 8: The director is Louis Teague. And the plot, as accurate
- 37:10Speaker 8: as IMDb always is, Cujo, a friendly St. Bernard, contracts
- 37:14Speaker 8: rabies and conducts a reign of terror on a small
- 37:17Speaker 8: American town. It's not quite accurate.
- 37:19Speaker 7: It doesn't really go on the town. That's what I'm saying.
- 37:21Speaker 8: They're a little off, as IMDb always is.
- 37:24Speaker 7: He wasn't at the neighbor.
- 37:25Speaker 9: One guy's crappy garage.
- 37:27Speaker 8: Spoiler alert. It's 83.
- 37:29Speaker 7: You guys got to get up to it.
- 37:32Speaker 8: Do your homework.
- 37:33Speaker 13: Come on.
- 37:33Speaker 7: If you haven't seen it now, you don't get to
- 37:35Speaker 7: call spoiler on this one.
- 37:37Speaker 8: I tell people up front, we're going to ruin everything,
- 37:39Speaker 8: so just go watch it beforehand.
- 37:41Speaker 9: Well, actually, this is the first time I've got to
- 37:43Speaker 9: watch it. I thought I watched it before and then
- 37:45Speaker 9: realized halfway through this movie, this isn't the movie that
- 37:47Speaker 9: I thought I was watching.
- 37:48Speaker 7: Yeah, the dog never went to the hospital.
- 37:49Speaker 9: The dog never went to the hospital. It wasn't the hospital.
- 37:51Speaker 7: It was a lab. Oh, I'm sorry. You said hospital
- 37:53Speaker 7: the first time.
- 37:53Speaker 8: Well, whatever.
- 37:54Speaker 9: Lab, hospital, vet clinic.
- 37:56Speaker 8: Trying to figure out what movie you were thinking of.
- 37:58Speaker 9: I have no idea.
- 38:00Speaker 8: Watchers?
- 38:01Speaker 7: Because that's got.
- 38:01Speaker 8: That's got dog.
- 38:02Speaker 7: In a lab. I don't know.
- 38:03Speaker 9: All I remember was there was a cute girl. She
- 38:05Speaker 9: was a lab assistant. The dog was in a cage.
- 38:08Speaker 7: Corey Haim was in Watchers. He was really cute. Not
- 38:09Speaker 7: a girl.
- 38:10Speaker 9: I think she was going to take blood on him
- 38:12Speaker 9: and the dog got out of the cage and attacked
- 38:14Speaker 9: and killed her. And I was like, oh man, she
- 38:15Speaker 9: was really cute.
- 38:17Speaker 7: But that was not Cujo.
- 38:18Speaker 9: No, I guess it wasn't Cujo.
- 38:19Speaker 8: It was not Cujo.
- 38:20Speaker 7: No.
- 38:21Speaker 8: Well, it was one of those, and that's kind of
- 38:23Speaker 8: why I was glad you picked it, just because I
- 38:24Speaker 8: had seen it, but it had been so long. It's
- 38:27Speaker 8: one of those, I need to watch that again, because
- 38:30Speaker 8: it had been a long time to the point I
- 38:32Speaker 8: was like.
- 38:33Speaker 7: It's one that I'm surprised they haven't remade yet.
- 38:35Speaker 8: Yeah, unfortunately. Again, I've gotten to the point I don't
- 38:38Speaker 8: want to argue remakes. If you can do something useful
- 38:40Speaker 8: with it, go for it.
- 38:42Speaker 7: I'm not saying they should. I'm just surprised they haven't.
- 38:44Speaker 7: They remade everything else, and this is old enough.
- 38:46Speaker 9: Well, yeah, I mean, with fear of pit bulls now,
- 38:49Speaker 9: I mean, they could make one with.
- 38:49Speaker 8: A pit bull.
- 38:51Speaker 7: I mean, they're so ready to remake shit that's not
- 38:53Speaker 7: even old, and why haven't they remade this? I mean,
- 38:55Speaker 7: they remade Cabin Fever not even like 10 years after
- 38:59Speaker 7: it was made the first time, and there was nothing
- 39:01Speaker 7: wrong with it to begin with.
- 39:02Speaker 8: Well, they ran out of straight-to-DVD sequels, and they had
- 39:05Speaker 8: to reboot, you know. All right, so where do we
- 39:08Speaker 8: want to begin? I think I remembered it as being
- 39:13Speaker 8: pretty simple, and I was amazed how... focused it is
- 39:17Speaker 8: like it really does not i feel like again if
- 39:20Speaker 8: they remade it today if it was a more modern
- 39:22Speaker 8: not that 83 is semi-recent but still i feel like
- 39:25Speaker 8: even then it was sort of a different era when
- 39:28Speaker 8: they would now overcomplicate it and add in a bunch
- 39:31Speaker 8: of extra characters.
- 39:32Speaker 7: And they would be CG'd the hell out of it.
- 39:34Speaker 8: Oh yeah, CG Cujo the whole time. Just be a
- 39:36Speaker 8: cartoon walking around. CG kids. So yeah, I feel like
- 39:40Speaker 8: it is sort of because it's of that era that
- 39:42Speaker 8: it's a little more focused and just... zeroes in on
- 39:46Speaker 8: this one story and kind of a little side story
- 39:49Speaker 8: that's you know dad trying to come and find them
- 39:51Speaker 8: but they.
- 39:51Speaker 7: Had a couple different side stories because you had that
- 39:53Speaker 7: whole character building at the beginning which i didn't i
- 39:56Speaker 7: think i've seen this movie but it's been so long
- 39:58Speaker 7: that i have no real recollection but i was in
- 40:00Speaker 7: there like i didn't realize they built character for so
- 40:03Speaker 7: long before we actually get to the rabies because it's
- 40:05Speaker 7: like okay.
- 40:06Speaker 8: Hey we got rabies right off the bat well but.
- 40:08Speaker 7: He didn't know he didn't actually have the dog didn't
- 40:10Speaker 7: get he had the gotta but he didn't get attacked
- 40:12Speaker 7: yeah But he didn't become... At first I was like, oh,
- 40:15Speaker 7: is he going to eat the bunny? I was really
- 40:16Speaker 7: worried about the bunny.
- 40:17Speaker 8: I was worried about the bunny.
- 40:18Speaker 7: I was worried about the bunny. I am worried about
- 40:20Speaker 7: that fucking kid later on, but I was worried about
- 40:21Speaker 7: that bunny.
- 40:21Speaker 8: That was the opening scene. We get the little frolicking around.
- 40:25Speaker 8: It's an incredible journey. It's like a Disney movie for
- 40:26Speaker 8: a minute.
- 40:27Speaker 7: Of course, boyfriend picking out the real bunnies out in
- 40:29Speaker 7: the wild. Ain't that fat?
- 40:31Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 40:33Speaker 9: I can't watch... You can't watch movies with me. I'm horrible.
- 40:36Speaker 9: I pick things apart.
- 40:38Speaker 8: He does.
- 40:38Speaker 7: He's the worst. But... Yeah, it had been so long.
- 40:42Speaker 7: It's like they had tried to cram all this other
- 40:43Speaker 7: stuff in there. And I'm like, do we need to
- 40:46Speaker 7: know how horrible these people actually are? Because, I mean,
- 40:48Speaker 7: she's cheating on her husband. This little guy over here,
- 40:51Speaker 7: he's an asshole. His wife's obviously leaving him with her kid.
- 40:54Speaker 7: And it's just there's so much different going on with
- 40:56Speaker 7: the stories. And I'm like, where's the ratings?
- 41:00Speaker 9: I like.
- 41:01Speaker 8: Sort of what's going on there in that aspect of it. Again,
- 41:04Speaker 8: I think, I think I remember seeing with, with the director,
- 41:07Speaker 8: they were talking about where they thought the book was
- 41:09Speaker 8: way too long. So they are, they even edited down
- 41:11Speaker 8: the original, I think even after they shot it, they
- 41:13Speaker 8: did a cut where they took out a lot of
- 41:15Speaker 8: the beginning and they said audiences didn't respond because they
- 41:18Speaker 8: didn't care about D Wallace. Like we hadn't spent any
- 41:20Speaker 8: time with her. So we didn't really, it was just
- 41:23Speaker 8: some lady in a car. So I think when they
- 41:25Speaker 8: put it back to its normal running time now, Everybody
- 41:29Speaker 8: seemed to like it. Everybody jumps when the dog shows
- 41:31Speaker 8: up because they actually care. They're invested in her life,
- 41:35Speaker 8: even if she's kind of messing around.
- 41:36Speaker 9: I don't know if I really cared about her. I
- 41:39Speaker 9: was more or less just sitting there going, see, that's
- 41:41Speaker 9: what happens when dogs are raving.
- 41:44Speaker 7: If you hadn't cheated on your husband, he might have
- 41:46Speaker 7: actually fixed your car. He wouldn't have had to go
- 41:47Speaker 7: out to this middle of nowhere.
- 41:48Speaker 8: He don't know how to fix a car. He had
- 41:50Speaker 8: to take his out there.
- 41:51Speaker 4: I think the slow buildup of the characters and the
- 41:54Speaker 4: sort of like droll, suburban kind of life makes that
- 41:57Speaker 4: first scare really effective because she's broken down in the
- 42:01Speaker 4: car you know she's she gets out of the car
- 42:04Speaker 4: and then her kid she gets back in the car
- 42:07Speaker 4: and then she's trying to look around for the guy
- 42:10Speaker 4: and then you just have this ferocious dog just pop
- 42:14Speaker 4: up in frame and it's such an effective scare because
- 42:17Speaker 4: so far in the film it doesn't do a lot
- 42:20Speaker 4: of the jump scares to do a lot of the
- 42:22Speaker 4: you know, oh, I broke a vase, or it's not
- 42:24Speaker 4: really a whole lot of, like, popping attitude horror that
- 42:28Speaker 4: you have seen in other Stephen King movies. But this one,
- 42:33Speaker 4: I think, it's very a slow burn, and then the
- 42:36Speaker 4: last 30 minutes of the movie is just a punch
- 42:39Speaker 4: in the face.
- 42:40Speaker 8: And that scare works because they kind of misdirect you, too,
- 42:43Speaker 8: because they're sort of moving the camera enough that you're like, okay,
- 42:46Speaker 8: are we dog POV? Are we watching him? Because the
- 42:48Speaker 8: door's open, so we're like, is he running up to
- 42:50Speaker 8: the open door about to bite around the leg? And
- 42:52Speaker 8: while you're thinking that, you don't realize that he's going
- 42:55Speaker 8: to come pop up at the window. And it's still, again,
- 42:57Speaker 8: I'd seen it before, and it still worked. I was like, oh, no,
- 42:59Speaker 8: that was a good scare. They put their time in
- 43:02Speaker 8: on that one.
- 43:03Speaker 9: We shouldn't have came into this movie off of a
- 43:07Speaker 9: 10-hour shift.
- 43:09Speaker 7: He had fallen asleep.
- 43:12Speaker 8: He'll be the first to be eaten by Cujo.
- 43:14Speaker 7: Wake up.
- 43:15Speaker 9: Wake up.
- 43:15Speaker 7: And then I thought I was going to lose him
- 43:16Speaker 7: because of the kid. He can't. Anything that involves kids screaming,
- 43:20Speaker 7: which even more than me.
- 43:21Speaker 8: There is a lot of screaming from Danny.
- 43:23Speaker 7: He can't watch Neverending Story.
- 43:26Speaker 9: I'll walk out of the room.
- 43:27Speaker 7: He did. I love that movie. It's one of my
- 43:29Speaker 7: favorite movies of all time.
- 43:30Speaker 8: One of those two kids is pretty whiny in that movie.
- 43:33Speaker 8: Noah's awesome.
- 43:33Speaker 9: See, I'm lucky my kid didn't scream a lot or anything.
- 43:36Speaker 8: She was quiet.
- 43:36Speaker 9: She was just like, I look at her and I'm like,
- 43:38Speaker 9: and then she would, okay.
- 43:41Speaker 8: What I think works really well as far as the
- 43:44Speaker 8: buildup in the beginning, and I think what I think
- 43:47Speaker 8: it's probably the most central theme that we're going with
- 43:50Speaker 8: is the fact that it sets, it is sort of
- 43:52Speaker 8: built up like this fairy tale at the beginning. The
- 43:54Speaker 8: music's very, just sort of nice and serene and the
- 43:58Speaker 8: dog's playing with the bunny before he gets attacked.
- 44:00Speaker 7: I don't think he was playing with the bunny.
- 44:01Speaker 8: And then he's playing with the bunny. It's just a
- 44:02Speaker 8: Disney movie. And then he like, aside from the attack,
- 44:06Speaker 8: then we go to the family life and there's like,
- 44:08Speaker 8: there's still very like Norman Rockwell-y, like they're just kind
- 44:12Speaker 8: of hanging out before we find out about the cheating.
- 44:14Speaker 8: And like, I think the thing that works so well
- 44:16Speaker 8: is we, get this, like, the kid's afraid of the
- 44:18Speaker 8: monster under the bed. The most basic elements of us
- 44:22Speaker 8: as dorky horror fans is just like when you're a kid, monsters.
- 44:26Speaker 8: You find monsters everywhere. You play this game. Even the
- 44:28Speaker 8: director said that the run and jump in the bed
- 44:31Speaker 8: game was something he did as a kid. Like, I
- 44:33Speaker 8: think it's that.
- 44:34Speaker 7: I still do that.
- 44:35Speaker 8: Well, yeah, because you're afraid. You won't hang your arm
- 44:38Speaker 8: over the bed now, will you?
- 44:39Speaker 7: I won't because that's where the monsters are.
- 44:40Speaker 8: See? Toes, toes.
- 44:42Speaker 7: Oh, my God.
- 44:43Speaker 8: It is. It is like a primal thing in us.
- 44:46Speaker 8: that we find these monsters.
- 44:47Speaker 9: Except for me.
- 44:49Speaker 8: You're dead inside. Yeah.
- 44:51Speaker 9: Sorry.
- 44:52Speaker 8: But I think it's kind of cool because they build
- 44:55Speaker 8: up this whole thing of the kid dealing with that.
- 44:57Speaker 8: You're sort of in his perspective at that point. And
- 45:00Speaker 8: then they spend the entire next hour going, monsters aren't real.
- 45:05Speaker 8: It's okay. You don't have to worry. Look, we're going
- 45:07Speaker 8: to make a list. Monsters aren't real. And then we
- 45:10Speaker 8: find a way to go, okay, they're not creepy supernatural,
- 45:13Speaker 8: but there can be a real monster and... You don't
- 45:16Speaker 8: know when it's coming. It could pop up in the
- 45:17Speaker 8: car any moment. I like that we build up this
- 45:20Speaker 8: whole thing of, you know, there are no crazy monsters
- 45:24Speaker 8: like you see on TV. I don't know. But sometimes
- 45:28Speaker 8: monsters find you regardless. So I think it is that
- 45:31Speaker 8: kind of bastardizing things in your everyday life and turning
- 45:34Speaker 8: them into monsters, which is what the kids sort of
- 45:37Speaker 8: fighting against from the very beginning. That's what I thought
- 45:40Speaker 8: was really cool about it.
- 45:41Speaker 7: I think.
- 45:42Speaker 4: I think the film brings that unstableness and introduces it
- 45:45Speaker 4: very quickly for the child. Not only is he battling
- 45:50Speaker 4: with horrible night terrors, but his parents' marriage is falling apart.
- 45:55Speaker 4: His dad is leaving for business trips. It's sort of
- 45:59Speaker 4: kind of alluded that his business or his job is
- 46:03Speaker 4: not really going well.
- 46:04Speaker 9: Okay, well.
- 46:05Speaker 8: Can I interject and say, If you name your business
- 46:08Speaker 8: Sharp Cereal.
- 46:09Speaker 7: I thought they were just the admin.
- 46:12Speaker 8: But either way, I'm making fun of the cereal at
- 46:16Speaker 8: this point.
- 46:16Speaker 7: Are the admin being blamed for it causing children to
- 46:19Speaker 7: bleed from all orifices?
- 46:22Speaker 9: Shouldn't the cereal company be charged with that, not the
- 46:24Speaker 9: ad agency?
- 46:25Speaker 8: They should, but again, they're going to blame anybody. They're
- 46:28Speaker 8: going to get heat just like everybody else. It's the
- 46:30Speaker 8: stupid advertising world.
- 46:32Speaker 4: But I think he even drives like a Jaguar.
- 46:35Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 46:35Speaker 4: And she drives like a piece of shit Pinto.
- 46:37Speaker 7: Oh, yeah. The Pinto. It just doesn't make.
- 46:40Speaker 4: A lot of sense. So there's definitely like a huge
- 46:42Speaker 4: shift in the stability of this marriage and relationship, this family.
- 46:49Speaker 4: And the kid obviously reveres his father like any son would.
- 46:54Speaker 4: And when he leaves, he's left his mother who has
- 46:57Speaker 4: now basically sort of become this shell of a person.
- 47:03Speaker 4: And then the car reflects that. The junkyard hillbilly mechanic,
- 47:10Speaker 4: if you want to call him that, reflects that. And then,
- 47:14Speaker 4: of course, you have the dog, which the child connected
- 47:19Speaker 4: with early in the film, and now he's turning on that.
- 47:21Speaker 4: So everything reflects that sort of disabled, conjuncted, confluted family
- 47:26Speaker 4: unit that they had.
- 47:28Speaker 8: I think the dog more than anything is that. That's
- 47:30Speaker 8: what I was going to say. That's the other theme
- 47:32Speaker 8: to me. Because I focused way more this time. I
- 47:35Speaker 8: kind of knew where the dog story was going to go.
- 47:37Speaker 8: But I'm way more on the relationship aspect this time.
- 47:40Speaker 8: And I'm like, that's what I think is kind of
- 47:43Speaker 8: cool about the dog. Not just being some rabid wild
- 47:47Speaker 8: dog out of the woods. It is a pet. It
- 47:49Speaker 8: is a part of that family. So then we watched
- 47:52Speaker 8: this family falling apart. And I'm like, it's this great
- 47:56Speaker 8: dual representation of the something beautiful that you love falling
- 48:00Speaker 8: apart and turning against you and becoming this horrible thing.
- 48:04Speaker 8: So this wonderful relationship that you build is now in
- 48:08Speaker 8: shambles and falling apart. And this dog that we love
- 48:11Speaker 8: is now ready to kill everyone in the family. And it's, I, yeah,
- 48:14Speaker 8: I kind of like the way all of that sort
- 48:16Speaker 8: of balances out and mirrors each other in their own
- 48:19Speaker 8: sick little way. And again, I feel like that, that
- 48:23Speaker 8: is the other main aspect for me is the, the
- 48:25Speaker 8: infidelity is the, the nice dog because it is it
- 48:29Speaker 8: is funny they could have picked other animals the guys
- 48:32Speaker 8: kept trying to tell the director you know we can
- 48:35Speaker 8: find you a german shepherd that'll do all this stuff
- 48:37Speaker 8: they're like there aren't trained saint bernards like they're not
- 48:39Speaker 8: really a dog that they usually use for that kind
- 48:41Speaker 8: of stuff we can get you a doberman we can
- 48:43Speaker 8: get you something that'll be seen vicious and i'm like
- 48:46Speaker 8: it doesn't work that way like it only if it
- 48:48Speaker 8: if it was a you know a again a wolf
- 48:51Speaker 8: or if it if it's a doberman that we're so
- 48:52Speaker 8: used to seeing attack people but the fact that they
- 48:54Speaker 8: pick Number one, the fact that he's a huge animal,
- 48:59Speaker 8: so when he becomes vicious, he is a force to
- 49:02Speaker 8: be reckoned with. He's not a chihuahua. You're not going
- 49:04Speaker 8: to punt him across the room. He can knock your
- 49:06Speaker 8: car over just about.
- 49:08Speaker 7: What is a pinto? If he did it from the back,
- 49:09Speaker 7: the whole thing would have exploded and ended up.
- 49:11Speaker 8: Moving real fast. Poison pinto.
- 49:13Speaker 7: I heard that one of the, at least in some
- 49:15Speaker 7: of the cuts, they used the Rottweiler because they couldn't get...
- 49:17Speaker 7: They were trying.
- 49:19Speaker 8: I thought they said that looked terrible and they scrapped
- 49:21Speaker 8: the idea. They had, they had a, or I think
- 49:24Speaker 8: they also had like at one point they had a
- 49:26Speaker 8: lab with a St. Bernard suit. And they were like,
- 49:29Speaker 8: we tried it and it really didn't look good.
- 49:32Speaker 4: They tried like an actual stunt guy in a suit.
- 49:34Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 49:34Speaker 4: And then they, I think they did try, on cover
- 49:36Speaker 4: of the close-ups, they tried like rottweilers and omens, their faces,
- 49:40Speaker 4: just to get that angry, menacing look.
- 49:42Speaker 7: Because they are some vicious, I love them, they're beautiful animals. Yeah.
- 49:46Speaker 8: They had a robot head, too, which I'm assuming is
- 49:48Speaker 8: what bashed in the car. I'm hoping that's what bashed
- 49:51Speaker 8: the car.
- 49:51Speaker 7: No, they just threw the dog in. No, it's the
- 49:53Speaker 7: guy in the suit.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:54Speaker 4: They actually had to tie, in some of the shots
- 49:56Speaker 4: when the St. Bernard was actually killing the people, they
- 49:59Speaker 4: had to tie their tails down to the legs. They
- 50:01Speaker 4: were wagging their tails.
- 50:02Speaker 9: Yeah, that's what I was laughing about. I work in
- 50:06Speaker 9: Florida with a lot of dogs, and so.
- 50:10Speaker 8: It was kind of funny.
- 50:11Speaker 7: Because there's at least one scene where they miss it.
- 50:12Speaker 8: He's happy. He's happy.
- 50:13Speaker 9: He's not stacking.
- 50:14Speaker 8: This is funny.
- 50:15Speaker 7: Because there's at least one scene where they miss it.
- 50:16Speaker 7: Because it's in there. Because he's all wagging his tail.
- 50:19Speaker 7: I was really excited to kill people. Come on.
- 50:21Speaker 8: That's how horror movies work. It's even more menacing. But yeah,
- 50:25Speaker 8: I think that's what's so great about him being that
- 50:28Speaker 8: type of dog. He's not one that's immediately... If it
- 50:32Speaker 8: were a pit bull, which again, they would probably do now.
- 50:34Speaker 8: There's no... there's no move there like it's like obviously we're.
- 50:37Speaker 4: Afraid of long-running like kids franchise about like saint bernard's
- 50:42Speaker 4: isn't it called like um i don't know what it's
- 50:45Speaker 4: called but like that type of dog.
- 50:47Speaker 8: Beethoven the greatest movie series ever beethoven i.
- 50:52Speaker 7: Never seen any i got rabies and.
- 50:55Speaker 4: Then there was airbud then there was like the other
- 50:57Speaker 4: guy yeah there's.
- 50:58Speaker 7: The chihuahua and Beverly Hills.
- 51:01Speaker 8: Well, then we get the next generation with Buddies. We
- 51:03Speaker 8: got Air Buddies.
- 51:04Speaker 9: Never even heard of that.
- 51:05Speaker 8: Then they go to space.
- 51:05Speaker 7: You've never heard of Beverly Hills Chihuahuas?
- 51:07Speaker 14: No.
- 51:08Speaker 7: You are a sad, sad man.
- 51:09Speaker 8: I need a sideshow right now on Beverly Hills.
- 51:11Speaker 7: Is there just one of those or is there two?
- 51:12Speaker 7: I think there's at least two.
- 51:13Speaker 8: I think there's at least two.
- 51:14Speaker 9: Oh, good lord.
- 51:14Speaker 8: Sadly.
- 51:15Speaker 7: Yeah, then there was Air Bud. Didn't he play other
- 51:17Speaker 7: sports too?
- 51:18Speaker 8: Oh, yeah. Definitely he's a golden receiver because he's a golden...
- 51:22Speaker 8: Never mind.
- 51:23Speaker 4: But there's only one Cujo.
- 51:24Speaker 8: Yeah, that's true. I'm surprised they haven't had like... Cujo
- 51:27Speaker 8: has puppies and there's a whole heartwarming family fun time.
- 51:31Speaker 8: I can see that. And then they go to space.
- 51:35Speaker 8: Because there is a Space Buddies, by the way. Space
- 51:37Speaker 8: Cujo puppies. I'd watch that, actually. It's not the worst thing.
- 51:51Speaker 8: I don't want to get out of my closet.
- 51:56Speaker 7: Oh, there's no monster.
- 52:00Speaker 12: I don't want to get out of my closet.
- 52:05Speaker 8: You ain't no baby.
- 52:06Speaker 7: I don't want to get out of my closet.
- 52:09Speaker 12: Listen to me.
- 52:13Speaker 2: It's not a monster.
- 52:16Speaker 12: It's just a doggy.
- 52:18Speaker 7: Ah! And good lord, get that kid's green.
- 52:33Speaker 8: Yeah, Danny. That's his first movie. I give him credit
- 52:37Speaker 8: because he couldn't even read to learn the lines. His mom,
- 52:41Speaker 8: his real mom, had to sit there and just go
- 52:43Speaker 8: over your next scene with him and get him to
- 52:46Speaker 8: know what to say because he wasn't even reading yet.
- 52:48Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, his... I mean, I kind of get
- 52:52Speaker 9: annoyed sometimes at screaming kids, but that's not me.
- 52:56Speaker 7: That's why I can't go to Walmart.
- 52:57Speaker 9: Yeah. But, I mean, as far as acting, good God,
- 53:01Speaker 9: that kid nailed it. I heard he actually bit her
- 53:06Speaker 9: during one of the times.
- 53:07Speaker 8: He really did.
- 53:08Speaker 9: Some of the scenes were just like of him being
- 53:10Speaker 9: frightened and stuff like that. I mean, I remember my kid,
- 53:16Speaker 9: my daughter, when she was real young, there were some
- 53:20Speaker 9: times where she was just truly just frightened out of
- 53:24Speaker 9: her wits and would just let out this blood-curdling scream
- 53:29Speaker 9: and that's what it sounded like that's the look on
- 53:31Speaker 9: her face like i think at the one point where
- 53:33Speaker 9: the where kujo's attacking the car and he's kind of
- 53:37Speaker 9: like in the fetal position in the very corner in
- 53:40Speaker 9: the back of the pinto and he's just screaming and
- 53:42Speaker 9: the look of terror on his face i was like
- 53:44Speaker 9: holy crap that's like That's like real terror, you know?
- 53:47Speaker 9: Or at least terror I've seen.
- 53:48Speaker 8: He's kind of more impressive.
- 53:50Speaker 7: They didn't tell him it was a movie.
- 53:51Speaker 9: They didn't tell him it was a movie.
- 53:53Speaker 8: Dee specifically said... No wonder. I remember seeing something of
- 53:57Speaker 8: her going like, I had a minor in psychology, so
- 54:00Speaker 8: I know kids can't distinguish really at that age. So
- 54:03Speaker 8: she kept going before the scene, like, now you know
- 54:05Speaker 8: this is pretend. You know the dog's not really going
- 54:07Speaker 8: to get you. And he's like, yeah, I got it.
- 54:09Speaker 8: He was already professional. He's like, don't worry, I got this.
- 54:13Speaker 8: But I feel like he's almost more convincing an actor...
- 54:15Speaker 8: even younger, because I've seen many an episode of Who's
- 54:18Speaker 8: the Boss, and he's very odd on Who's the Boss.
- 54:21Speaker 8: It's just a weird performance the whole run of that show.
- 54:24Speaker 7: My boyfriend was more surprised. He's like, what?
- 54:25Speaker 9: I didn't realize that was him. It took me a
- 54:27Speaker 9: while to think.
- 54:28Speaker 8: He's not wearing a sweater vest. That's why you need
- 54:29Speaker 8: the sweater vest.
- 54:30Speaker 9: You're not paying.
- 54:30Speaker 8: Attention to him.
- 54:31Speaker 7: Melissa Milano wasn't there to boss him around.
- 54:33Speaker 8: That's right. That's what it would have said. Melissa come
- 54:35Speaker 8: busting in. Dog, get over here. He just goes and hides.
- 54:40Speaker 8: You don't mess with Melissa Milano. The other thing I think,
- 54:44Speaker 8: this is one of the few... as contained as it is.
- 54:47Speaker 8: Cause I, we just did an episode about, um, the
- 54:50Speaker 8: mist and we're talking about siege movies and like this,
- 54:54Speaker 8: I mean, they get smaller and smaller. You get your
- 54:56Speaker 8: Alamos that they steal the idea from, but then once
- 54:58Speaker 8: you get to the point of like night of living
- 55:00Speaker 8: dead and you're just dealing with a few people in
- 55:02Speaker 8: a house, but this is two people in a car.
- 55:06Speaker 8: Like it's about as confined as you can get. I
- 55:09Speaker 8: guess the coffin movies are one in a, in a coffin.
- 55:12Speaker 8: But other than that, like this is about as, as
- 55:14Speaker 8: confined as, you can get when trying to take that
- 55:17Speaker 8: siege concept and, like, turn it into a movie. And
- 55:21Speaker 8: they do a pretty good job, like, to have to spend, like,
- 55:24Speaker 8: two days there and to sort of convey just how
- 55:29Speaker 8: hot and dehydrated they are, especially when it was, like,
- 55:31Speaker 8: 40 degrees when they were shooting that.
- 55:32Speaker 7: It was very cold, yeah.
- 55:33Speaker 9: See, that's the thing I was talking to her about.
- 55:34Speaker 9: I was like, how many days have they been in
- 55:36Speaker 9: that car? Because you can only survive three days without water.
- 55:38Speaker 8: It's got to be, yeah.
- 55:39Speaker 9: And they had a thermos of coffee, which really, but.
- 55:44Speaker 7: And he only had to pee once.
- 55:47Speaker 8: He was dehydrated. Just be glad.
- 55:52Speaker 9: Maybe he pulled a Bear Grylls. You don't know.
- 55:54Speaker 8: Maybe. But yeah, I don't know. That's what I was
- 55:59Speaker 8: also kind of looking at was how like it's playing
- 56:02Speaker 8: with that same convention and trying to like, I mean,
- 56:05Speaker 8: it's so confined, you know, at least if you're in
- 56:07Speaker 8: a house, you can go to a different room or
- 56:09Speaker 8: you can, fight in the basement, and they're stuck there,
- 56:12Speaker 8: and the best you can do is curl up in
- 56:13Speaker 8: the fetal position in the back, kid, because you're stuck
- 56:16Speaker 8: in that one space. I think that also makes it
- 56:18Speaker 8: really constrictive for the director, and surprisingly, Jean de Bon
- 56:23Speaker 8: doing cinematography, which he had a pretty solid career before
- 56:26Speaker 8: he did his own cheesy directing.
- 56:28Speaker 9: Yeah, there's that one scene where it just circles inside
- 56:30Speaker 9: the car.
- 56:30Speaker 8: The spinning, yeah.
- 56:31Speaker 9: I was like, whoa, where's the camera guy?
- 56:33Speaker 8: That was rigged up. Yeah, they, I think... cut a
- 56:36Speaker 8: hole in the top and just like fed the camera
- 56:39Speaker 8: through and spun it and that's pretty cool it's.
- 56:41Speaker 9: A little dizzying but then i can imagine being in
- 56:44Speaker 9: a car for two days.
- 56:44Speaker 8: Would get dizzying same thing the one they did with
- 56:47Speaker 8: him running to the bed and they shoot it and
- 56:49Speaker 8: then it like yeah it's underneath the camera that was
- 56:51Speaker 8: actually a camera falling yeah it's it's that's a really.
- 56:54Speaker 9: Because i didn't expect something like that and i was
- 56:56Speaker 9: just like wow that's it's pretty creative creative yeah Especially
- 57:00Speaker 9: for that time.
- 57:01Speaker 8: Yeah, you don't always get that, especially with horror. It's
- 57:04Speaker 8: like you get your art house horror directors, and then
- 57:06Speaker 8: you get some guys that are just, I work for
- 57:08Speaker 8: the studio, I do what I need to do, I
- 57:10Speaker 8: get everybody in the frame. And he didn't play that game.
- 57:13Speaker 8: He's actually got some really creative stuff in there. And
- 57:16Speaker 8: well-lit stuff. You get to the scene out there in
- 57:19Speaker 8: the fog, and they had the fireplace. Department show up.
- 57:25Speaker 8: You heard that story. It was like a naval fog
- 57:29Speaker 8: machine or something that they got because it was supposed
- 57:31Speaker 8: to cover up ships when they were out there during
- 57:34Speaker 8: whatever World War they stole this thing from. And yeah,
- 57:37Speaker 8: it did such a good job that they thought the
- 57:39Speaker 8: woods were on fire and the fire department came. But
- 57:43Speaker 8: that scene's really creepy. It does kind of work really
- 57:46Speaker 8: well with that kid half lit in the fog out there.
- 57:50Speaker 7: I was super excited about that kid. Let me tell you,
- 57:53Speaker 7: he was on Parker Lewis Can't Lose, and I fucking
- 57:55Speaker 7: love that show.
- 57:56Speaker 8: That kid is in a lot of stuff.
- 57:58Speaker 7: Billy Jane.
- 57:59Speaker 8: He's in.
- 57:59Speaker 7: Billy Jacobs. He's got two different names. He's credited sometimes
- 58:01Speaker 7: as Billy Jane.
- 58:02Speaker 9: Yeah, we were sitting there, and she goes, holy crap.
- 58:04Speaker 9: She had to grab her phone.
- 58:05Speaker 7: I did. I'm like, I love Parker Lewis. Anything that
- 58:07Speaker 7: involves Corin Nemec. I love Corin Nemec. I can't explain why.
- 58:12Speaker 8: It's you and you.
- 58:13Speaker 7: I know.
- 58:14Speaker 8: Even Corin's like, not me really.
- 58:16Speaker 7: Everybody else is like, who? I'm like, Corin Nemec. How
- 58:18Speaker 7: are you not?
- 58:20Speaker 9: Even Corin Nemec's like, who?
- 58:21Speaker 8: He's like, I was the knockoff Ferris Bueller. I know it.
- 58:24Speaker 8: It's okay. You can say it.
- 58:26Speaker 7: But I like Corin. I like Parker Lewis better than
- 58:28Speaker 7: I like Ferris Bueller. I don't care. I said it.
- 58:30Speaker 8: That's blasphemy right there.
- 58:31Speaker 7: I don't care. I said it.
- 58:34Speaker 8: What else do we have?
- 58:36Speaker 7: He was in another, which does tie together because he
- 58:37Speaker 7: was in a Stephen King movie.
- 58:39Speaker 8: Which one? Go ahead.
- 58:40Speaker 7: He was in The Stand.
- 58:42Speaker 8: You're just proud you read that book.
- 58:43Speaker 7: I did read the book. The book I had, I
- 58:45Speaker 7: read it at 1,038 pages. Longest book I've ever read.
- 58:50Speaker 8: Read I know the other thing I was like we
- 58:54Speaker 8: I was trying not to discuss this on the way
- 58:56Speaker 8: up here I was like not to wait we're getting
- 58:58Speaker 8: to it later I was really glad I don't know
- 59:00Speaker 8: how familiar you are with the book again I don't
- 59:02Speaker 8: know how to read so it's okay for me.
- 59:04Speaker 7: I was going to read the book, but I just
- 59:06Speaker 7: figured it would lead to a lot of arguments.
- 59:08Speaker 8: You'd be mad, and I'd be like, that's not the
- 59:10Speaker 8: same thing. But I'm glad. I will always acknowledge the book. Again,
- 59:14Speaker 8: I think I'm more interested from the filmmaking aspect of
- 59:18Speaker 8: when you're given a project or a specific property, and
- 59:22Speaker 8: you're like, okay, what doesn't work about this? And I
- 59:24Speaker 8: can change it now. They took out the weird supernatural element. Like, it's...
- 59:30Speaker 8: King wrote it about the same time as the Dead Zone.
- 59:33Speaker 8: It exists in the same universe. It's right when he
- 59:35Speaker 8: started building the Castle Rock world. And he has crossover... Like,
- 59:38Speaker 8: the Sheriff is the same guy in both of those stories,
- 59:41Speaker 8: which is why after any story that takes place after Cujo,
- 59:44Speaker 8: there's a new Sheriff in town because he gets eaten
- 59:46Speaker 8: by Cujo. But it's the same one as in Dead Zone.
- 59:51Speaker 8: And the killer in Dead Zone, the mystical force that
- 59:54Speaker 8: he is, it's hinted at that he... is in this
- 59:58Speaker 8: story and possesses Cujo? And that's why he's crazy?
- 1:00:01Speaker 7: Or he just has rabies.
- 1:00:04Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm like, I, again, He got bit by bats.
- 1:00:06Speaker 8: It totally undercuts the whole thing of like, the real
- 1:00:10Speaker 8: world is filled with monsters and the fact that, you know,
- 1:00:12Speaker 8: something you love becomes something evil for no good reason sometimes.
- 1:00:16Speaker 8: And like, the fact that, no, let's have a mystical
- 1:00:18Speaker 8: ghost come in and murder your family or try to,
- 1:00:21Speaker 8: to me, it's very Chucky. Like, I mean, we get
- 1:00:24Speaker 8: to that. Granted, this was pre-Child's Play, but, Like I've
- 1:00:27Speaker 8: already seen, there's a lot of like even Wes doing
- 1:00:29Speaker 8: that sort of shocker was the body jumping. And there
- 1:00:33Speaker 8: was a lot of that weird first power, like an
- 1:00:36Speaker 8: evil spirit would leave one body and go into another.
- 1:00:38Speaker 8: And I feel like we've seen that too many times.
- 1:00:40Speaker 8: I kind of like, I think Cujo stands on its
- 1:00:43Speaker 8: own so much better just being an actual animal and
- 1:00:46Speaker 8: just he got rabies and he's insane now. And like,
- 1:00:49Speaker 8: I like it because it grounds it more and it's
- 1:00:51Speaker 8: not a weird mystical side that doesn't really fit. Is
- 1:00:54Speaker 8: that just me?
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: Keeping things simple, I think, is the best for the
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: most part.
- 1:00:59Speaker 8: So again, I like that this is in the story
- 1:01:02Speaker 8: the way King wrote it. Granted, he was really drunk,
- 1:01:04Speaker 8: as we said earlier. He doesn't remember writing this.
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: Yeah, he doesn't remember writing most of this book. Which
- 1:01:10Speaker 7: is impressive because during that time, he wrote a lot
- 1:01:13Speaker 7: of shit that's impressive. He's very extremely prolific during that stage.
- 1:01:17Speaker 7: And a lot of it is what some would say
- 1:01:18Speaker 7: is his best work ever. And he does it Remember.
- 1:01:21Speaker 8: That's what I'm saying. That tells you how much talent
- 1:01:23Speaker 8: you have if even so watered down by booze that
- 1:01:27Speaker 8: you're still putting out such impressive and memorable work. He
- 1:01:31Speaker 8: must be a pretty damn good writer.
- 1:01:32Speaker 7: Imagine what he could have done sober.
- 1:01:34Speaker 8: God help us.
- 1:01:34Speaker 7: Would it have been not as good?
- 1:01:36Speaker 8: You know how artists are sometimes.
- 1:01:38Speaker 9: I wonder if I did anything cool when I was drunk.
- 1:01:40Speaker 7: No, you passed out or hit somebody.
- 1:01:42Speaker 8: There's a reason you don't drink now.
- 1:01:45Speaker 9: I could have wrote stories.
- 1:01:46Speaker 14: You didn't.
- 1:01:47Speaker 9: There could have been something out there.
- 1:01:49Speaker 7: You could have been a contender.
- 1:01:50Speaker 10: I could have been.
- 1:01:51Speaker 8: You still can't. Get to it.
- 1:01:52Speaker 9: I'm too old.
- 1:01:53Speaker 8: Lay off the booze and just start writing right now.
- 1:01:56Speaker 8: Start writing this.
- 1:01:56Speaker 7: No, you would have to start drinking.
- 1:01:58Speaker 8: No, skip that and just start writing this Space Cujo
- 1:02:01Speaker 8: movie that we're working on.
- 1:02:02Speaker 9: Space Cujo X.
- 1:02:05Speaker 8: But yeah, they took that weird supernatural element and then,
- 1:02:10Speaker 8: I don't know, again, I think that adds a lot
- 1:02:14Speaker 8: to it, that it is grounded. It is set in
- 1:02:17Speaker 8: a real world and not one that has crazy.
- 1:02:21Speaker 7: It makes it more relatable. It's more real because, I mean,
- 1:02:26Speaker 7: what are the chances of you getting attacked by a
- 1:02:28Speaker 7: demon-possessed dog as opposed to a rabid dog? I mean,
- 1:02:31Speaker 7: that's something that could actually happen. Anytime I get an
- 1:02:33Speaker 7: animal coming at me, it doesn't have rabies. A kid
- 1:02:37Speaker 7: wanders too close, does it have rabies?
- 1:02:38Speaker 8: Does it have rabies? Well, Danny might have had rabies.
- 1:02:42Speaker 7: If it bites me, am I going to get the Tetris?
- 1:02:45Speaker 11: Yes.
- 1:02:45Speaker 8: Yes, you are. You'll turn into a Russian game.
- 1:02:51Speaker 7: I said it on purpose. I'm not like a retard.
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:02:54Speaker 9: Attacking dogs. Yeah, that can be real. They had a
- 1:02:59Speaker 9: really nice view at the house. I'll tell you that.
- 1:03:01Speaker 9: I was sitting there going, gosh, they've got such a
- 1:03:03Speaker 9: great view of the ocean right there.
- 1:03:05Speaker 8: That's a really good job he's got that he's about
- 1:03:06Speaker 8: to lose. I know. That fake house. I think they
- 1:03:10Speaker 8: built that weird facade. Just because he liked the view.
- 1:03:13Speaker 8: Like it literally was like, I like this view. Let's
- 1:03:15Speaker 8: build a fake outside of a house.
- 1:03:17Speaker 9: Oh, the view's beautiful.
- 1:03:18Speaker 8: Because they shot, that was the other, I guess that
- 1:03:19Speaker 8: was the tie-in for this weekend is they shot, supposedly,
- 1:03:23Speaker 8: I guess the interior, they said the house that they
- 1:03:26Speaker 8: use in Cujo, which again, the exterior is a facade.
- 1:03:29Speaker 8: So I guess the interior one is across the street,
- 1:03:31Speaker 8: literally in the real world from the scream house, the
- 1:03:35Speaker 8: one that Drew gets killed at the beginning. So it's
- 1:03:38Speaker 8: actually in the real world on the same street as
- 1:03:41Speaker 8: the scream house.
- 1:03:42Speaker 7: Interesting.
- 1:03:42Speaker 8: Which everybody in Scream has a really nice house too.
- 1:03:46Speaker 8: That is not a poor group of kids. No. They
- 1:03:49Speaker 8: all have huge houses. We also had a nice little
- 1:03:52Speaker 8: timely Jaws reference showing that Yes.
- 1:03:57Speaker 9: I started laughing about that.
- 1:03:58Speaker 8: The Jaws had come along and changed movies overall. When
- 1:04:01Speaker 8: did Cujo come out? 83.
- 1:04:03Speaker 7: 83.
- 1:04:03Speaker 9: Okay. When did Jaws come out?
- 1:04:04Speaker 7: 76?
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: 76?
- 1:04:06Speaker 9: Because I'm having a hard time remembering because as a
- 1:04:10Speaker 9: kid I remember I had a Jaws poster in my
- 1:04:12Speaker 9: room And I don't remember when it came out. I
- 1:04:15Speaker 9: remember seeing Jaws, and I remember thinking it was a
- 1:04:18Speaker 9: big fish that was eating people.
- 1:04:20Speaker 7: It kind of sums it up.
- 1:04:21Speaker 8: Yeah, you piece this together.
- 1:04:23Speaker 9: And then I shot the crap out of my Jaws poster.
- 1:04:27Speaker 8: On purpose?
- 1:04:28Speaker 7: While it was still on your wall?
- 1:04:30Speaker 9: Yeah, it was still on my wall.
- 1:04:31Speaker 7: Did you get in trouble for this?
- 1:04:32Speaker 8: Yeah, how did your parents feel about this?
- 1:04:33Speaker 9: Not very happy about it.
- 1:04:34Speaker 7: With a BB gun or with a.
- 1:04:36Speaker 9: It was with a BB gun that I stole from Dad.
- 1:04:38Speaker 7: Please don't shoot any of the posters on our walls.
- 1:04:40Speaker 6: I won't.
- 1:04:40Speaker 7: That would not end well either.
- 1:04:41Speaker 9: Hey, at least it wasn't a crossbow this time.
- 1:04:44Speaker 8: This time yes this time oh lord but yeah i
- 1:04:50Speaker 8: do like that you get those that's kind of my
- 1:04:51Speaker 8: favorite referencing is one movie referencing another movie they enter
- 1:04:56Speaker 8: into this other alternate universe because it makes me think
- 1:04:59Speaker 8: and you'll probably hear it at the beginning of the
- 1:05:01Speaker 8: show it makes me think my favorite like one of
- 1:05:04Speaker 8: my favorites is not even in a horror movie in
- 1:05:06Speaker 8: the middle of fletch when he walks in the room
- 1:05:07Speaker 8: it's really quiet and he goes kujo And I'm like, again,
- 1:05:12Speaker 8: you see the impact film has on not just our
- 1:05:16Speaker 8: regular lives, but so much so that it crosses over
- 1:05:18Speaker 8: into other movies. That's my favorite thing. And I had
- 1:05:24Speaker 8: to like this movie, I think, just because looking back
- 1:05:26Speaker 8: at the rest of Louis Teague's career, right before this,
- 1:05:30Speaker 8: he directed Alligator. I spent way too much time watching Alligator.
- 1:05:34Speaker 7: Wow.
- 1:05:35Speaker 8: Anytime you can have... Alligators living in the sewer eating people.
- 1:05:39Speaker 8: That's a good movie right there. I'm a sucker for Alligator.
- 1:05:43Speaker 9: Oh, I had a bad experience with that movie.
- 1:05:46Speaker 7: With Alligators?
- 1:05:47Speaker 9: With Alligators.
- 1:05:48Speaker 8: Alligators in the sewer.
- 1:05:49Speaker 9: Well, I was living with a buddy, well, with several
- 1:05:51Speaker 9: guys a long time ago in this house. We had
- 1:05:54Speaker 9: all moved out and bought this house. And I was
- 1:05:56Speaker 9: bored and I was looking for something to watch and
- 1:05:59Speaker 9: me and a couple friends sat down and I was like, oh, look,
- 1:06:01Speaker 9: he's got a VHS copy of Alligators. We'll watch that.
- 1:06:04Speaker 8: One of the best movies ever.
- 1:06:05Speaker 9: We got about 10 minutes in and then realized that
- 1:06:07Speaker 9: he had recorded a bunch of skin flicks from Showtime
- 1:06:12Speaker 9: on there, halfway through it, and then it ruined them.
- 1:06:14Speaker 9: I was like, damn it!
- 1:06:16Speaker 8: Now I'll never know if these people don't get eaten
- 1:06:18Speaker 8: by a giant mutant alligator.
- 1:06:19Speaker 7: Did he put tape over the little square?
- 1:06:23Speaker 9: No, he probably did. If it was pre-recorded. It was
- 1:06:28Speaker 9: an actual copy of Eleanor.
- 1:06:29Speaker 7: You couldn't record if the square was gone.
- 1:06:31Speaker 9: He put tape over it.
- 1:06:33Speaker 8: You have to pop out that to be able to
- 1:06:35Speaker 8: record it.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: No.
- 1:06:39Speaker 7: You have to have the tab on there to record
- 1:06:41Speaker 7: over it.
- 1:06:41Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:42Speaker 9: Because you had to put tape on it in order
- 1:06:45Speaker 9: to record over my dad's... Porn collection?
- 1:06:49Speaker 14: No, no.
- 1:06:50Speaker 9: He would record.
- 1:06:51Speaker 7: It's all on his computer, sorry.
- 1:06:52Speaker 9: He would record stuff on Sundays off of Billy Graham.
- 1:06:56Speaker 9: And I would record.
- 1:06:58Speaker 8: But we were watching Godzilla in Kung Fu Theater. What
- 1:07:00Speaker 8: the hell is wrong with him?
- 1:07:01Speaker 9: Yeah, I was recording stuff over top of it. It
- 1:07:05Speaker 9: wasn't Godzilla, though.
- 1:07:06Speaker 8: Ultraman.
- 1:07:07Speaker 9: No, it wasn't Ultraman. At that time, it wasn't on TV.
- 1:07:09Speaker 9: We didn't have VCR then. I was probably recording G.I.
- 1:07:12Speaker 9: Joe or something. Wizards and Warriors, which does exist.
- 1:07:16Speaker 8: Top quality stuff. Of his other, yeah, I looked at it.
- 1:07:19Speaker 8: I was like, okay, also followed it with Cat's Eye.
- 1:07:22Speaker 8: More Stephen King crossover action.
- 1:07:24Speaker 9: I like Cat's Eye.
- 1:07:25Speaker 8: Jewel of the Nile.
- 1:07:26Speaker 7: Navy Seals. Ooh, Navy Seals.
- 1:07:29Speaker 8: And I thought you would like this one. One of
- 1:07:31Speaker 8: the Dukes of Hazzard reunion movies is directed by him.
- 1:07:35Speaker 8: And yes, John is there. It's okay. He should be.
- 1:07:38Speaker 7: He's the only Duke that matters. I said it.
- 1:07:41Speaker 8: We're sorry, Tom.
- 1:07:42Speaker 9: Yeah, you ain't got a tattoo of Luke.
- 1:07:47Speaker 7: I do not have a tattoo of Luke, and there's
- 1:07:49Speaker 7: a reason.
- 1:07:49Speaker 8: You should. She has Bo Schneider on her leg.
- 1:07:53Speaker 7: And Corey Haim. Differently.
- 1:07:55Speaker 10: Okay.
- 1:07:56Speaker 8: They don't fight.
- 1:07:57Speaker 7: They're facing opposite directions.
- 1:08:00Speaker 8: They don't have to look at each other. It would
- 1:08:02Speaker 8: not go well if they were staring at each other
- 1:08:04Speaker 8: all day. I know. Awkward. You eyeball me, boy?
- 1:08:07Speaker 7: God, see my baby. See my baby. Well, come on in!
- 1:09:02Speaker 8: So, I don't know. What is our final take on
- 1:09:05Speaker 8: this movie? Did you have any new things that you
- 1:09:08Speaker 8: came across watching it this time around?
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: Well, I understood the backstory a little more as an adult.
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: I didn't really get that as a kid, obviously. Again,
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: it's a great movie.
- 1:09:21Speaker 7: Well directed.
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: Stood the test of time. If you haven't seen it,
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: I'd recommend it.
- 1:09:27Speaker 8: I mean, again, I think what holds up the most,
- 1:09:29Speaker 8: because it is, you do feel the 83 in it.
- 1:09:32Speaker 8: It definitely has a little dating on it.
- 1:09:34Speaker 7: Those clothes, those shirts with those sleeves.
- 1:09:37Speaker 9: Those are awesome. My mom loved all of them.
- 1:09:39Speaker 7: The shoulder pads.
- 1:09:40Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 1:09:41Speaker 7: That's poof.
- 1:09:41Speaker 11: Awesome.
- 1:09:41Speaker 7: The sand, hair.
- 1:09:42Speaker 8: Totally coming back.
- 1:09:43Speaker 7: The hair was the worst.
- 1:09:44Speaker 8: You know what?
- 1:09:45Speaker 9: That made me think, because in that time period, I
- 1:09:48Speaker 9: guess all women kind of did that, because even my
- 1:09:50Speaker 9: mom couldn't escape the short hair. She cut all her
- 1:09:53Speaker 9: hair off like.
- 1:09:54Speaker 8: That at one point.
- 1:09:55Speaker 9: Wasn't your dad like furious with her? My dad threw
- 1:09:57Speaker 9: a fit. He was so angry. I don't think he
- 1:10:01Speaker 9: talked to my mom for like a week.
- 1:10:02Speaker 7: So your mom won on that one.
- 1:10:03Speaker 9: Yeah, really, pretty much.
- 1:10:07Speaker 8: But I think what holds up is the tension. Like
- 1:10:10Speaker 8: it's just so well shot. They did such a great
- 1:10:14Speaker 8: job sort of planning everything out that, again, once we
- 1:10:17Speaker 8: hit that last half hour or so, like, It's so
- 1:10:19Speaker 8: well shot. It's so well edited. Because, again, that becomes
- 1:10:22Speaker 8: such a key factor in something like this that, like,
- 1:10:25Speaker 8: that's what still holds up. And good performances in the car. And, again,
- 1:10:30Speaker 8: good performance from that dog. Granted, I know there's anywhere
- 1:10:33Speaker 8: from five to eight, depending on who you talk to.
- 1:10:35Speaker 8: But aside from the tail wagging, the dog acting is
- 1:10:38Speaker 8: still pretty good. They really slime him up.
- 1:10:42Speaker 7: Which they had to keep yelling at him because he
- 1:10:43Speaker 7: kept licking it off.
- 1:10:44Speaker 8: It's egg whites. Come on, man.
- 1:10:46Speaker 7: Egg whites and sugar.
- 1:10:47Speaker 9: You can't put anything on a dog.
- 1:10:48Speaker 8: You meringue a dog's face, he's going to lick his face.
- 1:10:50Speaker 7: My thing was it just ended so abruptly.
- 1:10:53Speaker 8: That was the other thing. I was like, I feel
- 1:10:54Speaker 8: like that's a time period thing. I feel like now
- 1:10:57Speaker 8: there would be a big kind of epilogue kind of thing.
- 1:11:01Speaker 8: We'd have a... We'd have them at the hospital or
- 1:11:03Speaker 8: we'd have some sort of big finale.
- 1:11:05Speaker 7: They did that in the book, I think.
- 1:11:06Speaker 9: Here's another thing that we were talking about. The kid
- 1:11:08Speaker 9: also died. It was like in the points where the
- 1:11:12Speaker 9: kid was about to die, I was like, well, they're
- 1:11:14Speaker 9: not going to kill him off because this is 80s.
- 1:11:17Speaker 9: In the 80s, they still weren't killing kids off. Nowadays...
- 1:11:20Speaker 9: And Trick or Treat came along.
- 1:11:22Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:11:23Speaker 8: Again, if we're mentioning the book, in the book, the
- 1:11:26Speaker 8: kid dies. The kid dies, yeah. Spoiler alert.
- 1:11:28Speaker 9: I mean, really, if you think about it, I mean,
- 1:11:30Speaker 9: that's kind of rough.
- 1:11:31Speaker 8: It's pretty grim.
- 1:11:31Speaker 9: To put a kid through that.
- 1:11:32Speaker 8: It is one of those, even, it's one of those
- 1:11:34Speaker 8: times King goes back and goes, yeah, I probably wouldn't
- 1:11:36Speaker 8: end it like that now. Like, even he second guesses himself.
- 1:11:39Speaker 8: He's like, I wasn't really drunk that day. I don't
- 1:11:41Speaker 8: know what I was thinking.
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: I was angry.
- 1:11:42Speaker 7: Which is weird, because in The Mist, they went the
- 1:11:43Speaker 7: opposite way. Didn't he not kill him in the book?
- 1:11:46Speaker 8: In the book, there is no end like that. They
- 1:11:47Speaker 8: just drive off, and they don't know where they're going
- 1:11:49Speaker 8: to go. So, They could all potentially die five minutes later,
- 1:11:53Speaker 8: but we don't see that. The beginning of the mist
- 1:11:54Speaker 8: is just.
- 1:11:54Speaker 9: It's hardcore. It's hardcore.
- 1:11:56Speaker 8: It is hardcore.
- 1:11:57Speaker 7: I didn't even see that.
- 1:11:57Speaker 9: I was like, whoa.
- 1:11:59Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:11:59Speaker 9: I was like, I would probably do that, and then
- 1:12:02Speaker 9: that's probably what would happen to me, is the army
- 1:12:04Speaker 9: would come up and go, hey, guys, we got everything
- 1:12:05Speaker 9: cleared up. She didn't have faith. I was just like,
- 1:12:08Speaker 9: damn it.
- 1:12:09Speaker 8: She's right. The end of the world is coming. You
- 1:12:11Speaker 8: didn't have faith. We've crossed movies.
- 1:12:14Speaker 7: Look at the George Michael.
- 1:12:16Speaker 8: Yeah, I have faith in George Michael as well. So, yeah,
- 1:12:20Speaker 8: I think that's what holds up so well about it.
- 1:12:22Speaker 8: But yeah, I feel like that is a sign of
- 1:12:23Speaker 8: the times. I feel like so much stuff you watch
- 1:12:26Speaker 8: from that point, just like, it was almost kind of
- 1:12:28Speaker 8: a TV-esque thing. It was just like, and we're done.
- 1:12:31Speaker 8: Freeze frame.
- 1:12:32Speaker 7: It was literally, oh, wait.
- 1:12:34Speaker 8: Yeah, it's almost like they didn't even finish the movement
- 1:12:37Speaker 8: they were doing. They could have picked the kid up
- 1:12:39Speaker 8: and been in a decent pose, but they were kind
- 1:12:42Speaker 8: of halfway frozen.
- 1:12:43Speaker 7: And I was like, well, that's one way to get
- 1:12:44Speaker 7: your husband back after you cheat on him.
- 1:12:46Speaker 9: Yeah, that's what we're talking about. I was like, you know, really,
- 1:12:48Speaker 9: I mean, Even I would be kind of like, well,
- 1:12:52Speaker 9: you know, she just almost got eaten by a dog,
- 1:12:54Speaker 9: and I'd feel kind of guilty, you know?
- 1:12:56Speaker 8: She also right now has rabies, by the way, because
- 1:12:59Speaker 8: she did get bit. We're in the book.
- 1:13:02Speaker 7: She goes to the hospital.
- 1:13:03Speaker 8: Let's go to the hospital and get a whole lot
- 1:13:04Speaker 8: of shots. Come on.
- 1:13:06Speaker 9: You get those stomach shots?
- 1:13:08Speaker 8: Especially in 83. I'm sure there's no better way.
- 1:13:10Speaker 9: That was horrible. Stomach shots.
- 1:13:11Speaker 7: You have to go ahead and cut your head off
- 1:13:12Speaker 7: and check for it.
- 1:13:12Speaker 9: That was a thing I was afraid of getting when
- 1:13:14Speaker 9: I was a kid was rabies and tetanus.
- 1:13:19Speaker 8: Get the Tetris. Lockjaw. How many times a week did
- 1:13:22Speaker 8: you stab yourself with something metal?
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: A lot.
- 1:13:24Speaker 8: That's what I figured.
- 1:13:25Speaker 9: I was in the emergency room a lot. But, no, Lockjaw.
- 1:13:28Speaker 9: That was one of them. Because they used to scare
- 1:13:30Speaker 9: you all the time. You're going to get Lockjaw, kid.
- 1:13:32Speaker 9: Or you're going to get rabies, and they're going to
- 1:13:33Speaker 9: have to stab you with 900 needles in the stomach.
- 1:13:36Speaker 8: And the horrid cooties. Scourge of all childhood.
- 1:13:39Speaker 9: No, the cooties weren't really that bad. Because you didn't
- 1:13:41Speaker 9: have adults telling.
- 1:13:42Speaker 8: You you were going to get cooties. You still have cooties.
- 1:13:43Speaker 12: Don't lie.
- 1:13:44Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:13:46Speaker 8: But yeah, I feel like that was one of those
- 1:13:48Speaker 8: times when you're like, okay, you can see the 83
- 1:13:51Speaker 8: coming through because I feel like that would not be
- 1:13:53Speaker 8: how they would end it now. It's a weird, okay,
- 1:13:55Speaker 8: let's wrap this up.
- 1:13:56Speaker 7: Now they would give you more than you wanted.
- 1:13:58Speaker 8: You'd have a five years later and they'd go get
- 1:14:02Speaker 8: a St. Bernard puppy, but then the dog would look
- 1:14:04Speaker 8: at the screen and his eyes would glow.
- 1:14:06Speaker 7: I think in the book, the other mom, the one who.
- 1:14:12Speaker 7: Parker Lewis's friend's mom.
- 1:14:14Speaker 8: Not E.T. 's mom?
- 1:14:15Speaker 7: Not E.T.
- 1:14:15Speaker 8: 's mom.
- 1:14:16Speaker 7: Actually does buy her son a nude puppy. But he
- 1:14:18Speaker 7: has all of his shots. In the book.
- 1:14:21Speaker 8: He does have a stuffed St. Bernard in his room.
- 1:14:23Speaker 8: If you're paying attention. It's pretty sneaky of him.
- 1:14:26Speaker 9: Does he really?
- 1:14:27Speaker 8: Pretty sneaky.
- 1:14:28Speaker 10: Is it in the closet?
- 1:14:29Speaker 8: Next to E.T.
- 1:14:30Speaker 15: 's head.
- 1:14:31Speaker 8: We're really crossing these movies over.
- 1:14:33Speaker 7: On a side note, that side window of the Pinto
- 1:14:39Speaker 7: would have exploded if that dog had hit it. The
- 1:14:41Speaker 7: glass that was in that would not have stayed together
- 1:14:44Speaker 7: like that. The front windshield would have had safety glass.
- 1:14:47Speaker 7: The side window would have splintered and shattered completely.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:14:50Speaker 9: I've put my hand through a window before.
- 1:14:52Speaker 8: That was this morning on the way here.
- 1:14:54Speaker 9: That was a long time ago. But they do shatter
- 1:14:57Speaker 9: into little tiny pieces.
- 1:14:58Speaker 7: Like the back window did.
- 1:14:59Speaker 9: When she hit the back.
- 1:15:00Speaker 7: Window to get the kid out. It splinters and shatters.
- 1:15:03Speaker 8: That was kind of surprising. Again, she's a petite woman.
- 1:15:07Speaker 8: She didn't have a lot of weight behind it. The gun,
- 1:15:09Speaker 8: it was kind of just grazing it. In the real world,
- 1:15:13Speaker 8: I would be surprised if that quickly it shattered. You
- 1:15:15Speaker 8: can shatter it.
- 1:15:16Speaker 9: If it's real sharp, you'd be amazed how easy it
- 1:15:20Speaker 9: is to shatter a car window.
- 1:15:20Speaker 8: Maybe so.
- 1:15:21Speaker 7: But I'm just saying that side window would have exploded.
- 1:15:24Speaker 7: It would have been eaten like that.
- 1:15:28Speaker 9: But then the dog would have had to The problem
- 1:15:30Speaker 9: with the dog shattering the side window is the dog
- 1:15:34Speaker 9: isn't sharp enough, if that makes any sense. Like, there's
- 1:15:37Speaker 9: no focal point on the dog.
- 1:15:39Speaker 7: But still, the window would not have.
- 1:15:40Speaker 9: Aside from his furry face.
- 1:15:41Speaker 7: The window would not have.
- 1:15:43Speaker 9: Well, yeah, it wouldn't have just, like... The side window
- 1:15:46Speaker 9: would not be safety glass like that. It's safety glass,
- 1:15:49Speaker 9: but it's not plastic-coated safety glass. And now we're getting
- 1:15:55Speaker 9: into cars.
- 1:15:55Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:15:56Speaker 8: Well, I still, again, I think that's one of those
- 1:15:58Speaker 8: moments that works so well is when she's getting to
- 1:16:00Speaker 8: the end and you get that like, that moment is
- 1:16:03Speaker 8: very mother and her cub kind of thing.
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: Yeah, it is.
- 1:16:05Speaker 8: Be like, oh, I'm losing my baby. I'm taking this
- 1:16:07Speaker 8: dog out. So it's like you do get a very,
- 1:16:10Speaker 8: your maternal instinct kicks in and she's just like, I'm
- 1:16:13Speaker 8: going to do whatever I need to do to take
- 1:16:14Speaker 8: care of my kid. And it is kind of interesting watching.
- 1:16:17Speaker 8: We then get, because we've talked about this before, where
- 1:16:19Speaker 8: you get that, okay, what do I do in this situation?
- 1:16:22Speaker 8: So you yourself have to be like, okay, the house
- 1:16:23Speaker 8: is right there. You've got this many steps to get
- 1:16:25Speaker 8: from here to the house. The window's broken. Can I
- 1:16:28Speaker 8: get to the phone? Can I get to the baseball bat?
- 1:16:30Speaker 8: We've already pinned down all these things around her. The pistol.
- 1:16:35Speaker 8: Does she even know the gun's there? So you have to,
- 1:16:37Speaker 8: in your own head, start coming up with your own
- 1:16:39Speaker 8: scenario of like, okay, how do I get out of
- 1:16:41Speaker 8: this game?
- 1:16:41Speaker 7: And I'm like, okay, they're in the car, not that
- 1:16:43Speaker 7: far away from the police car. This is what really
- 1:16:44Speaker 7: pissed me off. How did she not hear the car
- 1:16:46Speaker 7: door close? She's dehydrated. But you're out there in the
- 1:16:49Speaker 7: middle of nowhere. She's sleeping. You're hearing no sounds for
- 1:16:52Speaker 7: how many, I don't care if you're asleep. She's passed out.
- 1:16:56Speaker 7: Anything that could be happening, you're going to hear that
- 1:16:57Speaker 7: damn door close.
- 1:16:58Speaker 8: She had her earbuds in. She's listening to a back episode.
- 1:17:01Speaker 7: Of our show. She should have heard the police car door.
- 1:17:03Speaker 9: That cop should have paid better attention. You see blood
- 1:17:05Speaker 9: smeared on a car.
- 1:17:06Speaker 8: That's what I thought.
- 1:17:06Speaker 9: And he's just kind of walking along.
- 1:17:07Speaker 8: I'm like, there's a big blood smear from the dog's head.
- 1:17:10Speaker 9: You haven't unholstered your weapon yet or anything. And you're
- 1:17:12Speaker 9: just kind of like.
- 1:17:13Speaker 7: Good job.
- 1:17:13Speaker 8: He gets eaten. You should be worried about blood anywhere
- 1:17:18Speaker 8: you see it.
- 1:17:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:17:19Speaker 8: Because something ain't right.
- 1:17:20Speaker 7: Dog ate three different dudes, but yet tiny little E.T.
- 1:17:23Speaker 7: 's mom confided off enough to survive.
- 1:17:25Speaker 8: Because she's super cool. We've seen her in this very building.
- 1:17:30Speaker 9: The thing, too, is her having to get out of
- 1:17:32Speaker 9: the car. Because I know the one-hour drive down here
- 1:17:35Speaker 9: from Lexington, when I got out of the car to
- 1:17:37Speaker 9: go into the bookstore, I about fell over because my
- 1:17:40Speaker 9: legs quit working.
- 1:17:41Speaker 8: She's not an old man yet.
- 1:17:42Speaker 9: I can't imagine her sitting.
- 1:17:44Speaker 8: She was still a young woman then.
- 1:17:45Speaker 9: For two days. If I sat in a car for
- 1:17:48Speaker 9: two days, my legs would fall off. They would shrivel
- 1:17:52Speaker 9: up like little matchsticks.
- 1:17:53Speaker 8: You could throw them out and feed them to Cujo
- 1:17:54Speaker 8: and then get to the phone. Here, chew on these
- 1:17:56Speaker 8: for a minute.
- 1:17:57Speaker 7: Run up her little knee nubs.
- 1:18:00Speaker 9: Knee nubs.
- 1:18:02Speaker 8: All right. You should have already watched it, but if not,
- 1:18:04Speaker 8: now that we've ruined it for you, go watch Cujo.
- 1:18:09Speaker 8: All right, well, thank you for being with us this week,
- 1:18:11Speaker 8: and you are invited to come back.
- 1:18:12Speaker 7: Thank you so much.
- 1:18:13Speaker 8: Pick another movie somewhere down the line.
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: It's been a very interesting conversation.
- 1:18:16Speaker 8: We're ridiculous. It's okay.
- 1:18:18Speaker 4: Nice points of view.
- 1:18:19Speaker 7: I've enjoyed it.
- 1:18:21Speaker 8: So, yep, thanks for joining in, and we will let
- 1:18:23Speaker 8: you get back to the fun that is Scarefest.
- 1:18:25Speaker 7: All right, thank you so much.
- 1:18:26Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 1:18:27Speaker 12: Thank you. All right. Well, I think that's.
- 1:18:48Speaker 10: It.
- 1:18:50Speaker 8: That rounds out this year's edition of Scarefest. A good
- 1:18:54Speaker 8: time has been had by all.
- 1:18:55Speaker 7: Yes, it has.
- 1:18:56Speaker 8: Especially us and Skeet. Yelling at Matt.
- 1:19:00Speaker 7: So damn cute.
- 1:19:03Speaker 8: That was a lot of fun. So because of that,
- 1:19:06Speaker 8: we would definitely like to thank Scarefest for letting us
- 1:19:09Speaker 8: be part of the fun.
- 1:19:10Speaker 7: Yes, awesome.
- 1:19:12Speaker 8: So to find out what they've got in the works,
- 1:19:14Speaker 8: go to thescarefest.com and start planning next year's trip right now.
- 1:19:19Speaker 7: Don't forget the the, because it is the Scarefest.
- 1:19:21Speaker 8: It is the Scarefest.
- 1:19:22Speaker 7: Because if you just put in scarefest.com, you're going to
- 1:19:24Speaker 7: get some shit that is not.
- 1:19:25Speaker 8: What we're talking about. Who knows? You don't like them anyway.
- 1:19:27Speaker 8: Just go to the Scarefest. Or you might find Camp Scarefest.
- 1:19:31Speaker 8: This year they were Camp Scarefest because they had all your...
- 1:19:34Speaker 8: Friday the 13th people and sleepaway camp people. And so
- 1:19:36Speaker 8: they were going with a nice camp theme this year.
- 1:19:39Speaker 8: So I don't know if they'll keep doing that, but
- 1:19:41Speaker 8: you know, you can't go wrong with murderous summer camp.
- 1:19:44Speaker 7: I just thought, what if they ever did like the
- 1:19:47Speaker 7: Funko mini mystery pop things of Melissa Rose.
- 1:19:52Speaker 8: With the face, with the face, doing the face, which
- 1:19:55Speaker 8: would entail.
- 1:19:57Speaker 7: Well, yikes. Yeah.
- 1:19:59Speaker 8: I mean, you'd have to do, it's not a bust.
- 1:20:01Speaker 8: You'd have to do a full body.
- 1:20:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:20:04Speaker 7: Maybe that's not a good idea.
- 1:20:05Speaker 8: Maybe there'd be, like, a special blind box just for
- 1:20:08Speaker 8: the adults. Because there's probably a lot of.
- 1:20:11Speaker 9: A blind box with a little blind box at the bottom.
- 1:20:13Speaker 8: Because then you could have, like, Carrie's special day in
- 1:20:16Speaker 8: the shower. And you could have, like, a whole series of, like,
- 1:20:20Speaker 8: blind box ones that probably shouldn't be around the kids.
- 1:20:22Speaker 7: The extremely inappropriate blind box.
- 1:20:25Speaker 8: Yeah. Don't blindly reach into the blind box because you
- 1:20:28Speaker 8: might grab things you're not prepared for. Yeah, I know.
- 1:20:32Speaker 8: Like the Silence of the Lambs doing the pose. I
- 1:20:38Speaker 8: want to show you a trick.
- 1:20:39Speaker 9: Hold on a minute.
- 1:20:40Speaker 7: Most characters from any John Waters movie.
- 1:20:42Speaker 11: Hand me that lotion.
- 1:20:43Speaker 8: I'm going to try something. Everybody from John Waters. Except John.
- 1:20:49Speaker 8: John is a classy dude. How he makes the stuff
- 1:20:53Speaker 8: he is, he does. I don't know because he seems.
- 1:20:54Speaker 7: Like a classy dude. That would be cool. A little
- 1:20:55Speaker 7: John Waters figure.
- 1:20:56Speaker 8: I would have one of those.
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: So cool.
- 1:20:58Speaker 8: So awesome.
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:21:01Speaker 8: On that note, I say we round out this Scarefest edition.
- 1:21:06Speaker 7: A glorious edition it will be.
- 1:21:08Speaker 9: Or has been.
- 1:21:09Speaker 8: It certainly has been. Otherwise, that about does it. We
- 1:21:13Speaker 8: will return next time. Same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:21:17Speaker 7: Bye.
- 1:21:17Speaker 14: Bye.
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: Rabbit dogs are scratching at my door But I won't
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: let them.
- 1:21:26Speaker 6: In Because I've been bitten before They just want to
- 1:21:41Speaker 6: hurt me. So please just leave me alone.
- 1:21:50Speaker 13: I'm waiting for your love.
- 1:21:54Speaker 6: To come and take me.
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: There's a dog outside Who wants to tear my body
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: apart Oh.
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: No These dogs, they want me to let them inside
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: But they.
- 1:22:38Speaker 6: Just want to use me I can see it in their.
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: Eyes dogs they look so cute and sweet but they
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: don't care about me they want to see me bruised
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: and bloody.
- 1:22:58Speaker 13: So please just leave me alone There's a dog outside
- 1:23:22Speaker 13: who wants to eat my heart and I'm locking myself
- 1:23:27Speaker 13: in my car.
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: There's a dog outside who wants to tear.
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: My body apart.
- 1:23:35Speaker 12: Oh no.
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: Maybe.
- 1:23:36Speaker 13: Where's my fucking book?
- 1:23:57Speaker 9: I think you could get more interviews off people if
- 1:23:59Speaker 9: these were shaped like chicken legs. It just popped in
- 1:24:02Speaker 9: my head. Like a drumstick.
- 1:24:05Speaker 8: This is why we don't give you microphones that often, really.
- 1:24:09Speaker 10: This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and
