- 0:23to go. Before I told you giant feet

- 2:47I I want to say something. I am one of the most weirdest
- 2:53people when it comes to doing things before the show and
- 2:58usually I have a little bit of string cheese, but I haven't
- 3:02done that on the show for a while because Jabba likes to
- 3:05attack me on the way I peel the string cheese or I eat the
- 3:09string cheese. You don't peel it, you're a
- 3:10serial killer and you eat string.
- 3:12Cheese. I do.
- 3:14Yeah. Well, what?
- 3:15I mean, what? How do you eat cheese?
- 3:17I know you you use it to. String it string cheese, yeah.
- 3:21It's to me, it's the same thing as eating a whole bunch of
- 3:24cheese. So and, and if anybody has gone
- 3:28to weddings or parties, jobber you're going to have a wedding
- 3:31soon or you're going to have some kind of party.
- 3:34There is a lot of cheese at those parties and you get to
- 3:37choose what kind of cheese you want to eat.
- 3:39I like all different kinds. I like prevalone, I like, I like
- 3:43all of them. So I'm a test taster.
- 3:47OK, so before the show I bought a a bunch of fruit.
- 3:52So you have these bowls and you have watermelon, you have
- 3:55cantaloupe, you have all the different berries, everything.
- 3:58So what I do is I'm OCD when it comes to fruit so I put the
- 4:04fruit in different bowls and I choose what I want to eat before
- 4:09I eat them it it and I can't eat the same fruit at once because I
- 4:13want to test taste how the fruit actually taste from the bowl so.
- 4:20Wouldn't it be taste testing, not test taste?
- 4:22No, I like test taste. You know that?
- 4:24That's my way of using my word play.
- 4:27OK so I test taste instead of taste test.
- 4:31So what I do is I put it in different bowls and I have my
- 4:36berries, I got some blueberries, strawberries, I've got some
- 4:39cantaloupe, I've got some honeydew and I have some
- 4:43watermelon. And it's weird because I go
- 4:45through like 7 or 8 bowls. And This is why Brittany always
- 4:50tells me you're a weirdo and this is really sick.
- 4:54Only sick people do this. And I said, I say to her, how
- 4:57could you go through a whole bowl sticking your hand in?
- 5:00If I I don't want other people sticking their hand in my bowl,
- 5:03I don't want you sticking your hand in a bowl.
- 5:05You work as a nurse. I don't want your hands in my
- 5:07bowl. So what I do is I put it in
- 5:09separate bowls. So if somebody wants a Berry,
- 5:12strawberry, you know, anything you want, you can go in the bowl
- 5:16and grab it. So before the show, I had it all
- 5:19set up on my counter. And after my shower, I'm, you
- 5:22know, choosing what I'm going to eat.
- 5:24And the watermelon had this weird, like potent taste.
- 5:28It's not, it doesn't taste like watermelon.
- 5:30So I, I, I tasted it and I just, I don't know what it tasted
- 5:35like, but it didn't taste like watermelon.
- 5:36So it, it tasted bad. So I wanted to go back to me
- 5:40farms to get another bowl because they gave me bad
- 5:43watermelon. Does that seem weird, Speedy?
- 5:45Does that seem weird? You could taste test as many
- 5:48things as you want. But you're a weird person too,
- 5:50because I've seen you, you've gone to different places around
- 5:55the world and, and and around the country, and you like to
- 5:57taste anything. It doesn't matter what it is.
- 6:00It could be a horse's ass. No, you would taste it.
- 6:02You would taste it. You you like meat, right?
- 6:05I wouldn't eat an ass. But if it's cooked, you might
- 6:10not even know if it's an ass. A cow's ass.
- 6:13You like beef, right? Yeah, but that's not an ass.
- 6:20The New York Jets made moves at the trade deadline on Tuesday,
- 6:24sending both Sauce Gardner and Quinn and Williams away in two
- 6:28different massive deals. First, The Jets shocked the
- 6:32league in trading Sauce Garner. Yes, Ahmed.
- 6:36Ahmed Gardner if you want to, yeah, I know there's a lot of
- 6:40people that don't want to know and call him Sauce anymore.
- 6:43Ahmed Gardner to the cult for two first round picks and their
- 6:50second year receiver Mitchell. The Jets only had to pay $15
- 6:55million to source his deal by trading him.
- 6:58Then The Jets made Jerry Jones's day trading the Cowboys
- 7:04defensive tackle Quinn Williams for a first round pick and a
- 7:08second round pick and a third year defensive tackle in Smith
- 7:13SN Wise. Connor Hughes reports that Quinn
- 7:16in requested a trade three different occasions with The
- 7:19Jets for over 2 years. The Athletic reports that The
- 7:23Jets were unwilling to trade with any AFC East rivals despite
- 7:28getting decent offers. The Jets said that Garrett
- 7:31Wilson was the only player that was completely untouchable in
- 7:36trades. The Jets held on to Bruce Hall
- 7:38and Jermaine Johnson after not getting a good enough offer for
- 7:42either player, which was reported to be a third round
- 7:46pick for Hall and a second round pick for Johnson.
- 7:52Everybody that is a Jet fan, we're going crazy about this
- 7:58story. The Jets finally make noise at
- 8:01the trade deadline. Maybe not in a good way in some
- 8:04people's minds, but in my thought and the way I categorize
- 8:11what has happened with the New York Jets.
- 8:14The Jets right now are rebuilding.
- 8:19They have a new coach that a lot of fans don't like for some
- 8:22reason. I I have no idea why after 1/2 a
- 8:26season they're just throwing them away.
- 8:28This is a guy that is their own. This is a guy that was drafted
- 8:32by The Jets. This is a guy that was
- 8:34successful as a player with The Jets.
- 8:38We all know this was not Aaron Glenn's roster.
- 8:43This was Robert AKA Bambi Sala's roster.
- 8:48That's whose roster it was. All these players.
- 8:51Quinton Williams, who wasn't even drafted by Joe Douglas in
- 8:55that regime. He was drafted with the regime
- 8:58before that. He was the only guy still a part
- 9:02of that regime on the roster. Source.
- 9:06Gardner, who is a sensational player, but over the last past
- 9:12year and a half has not played, as far as I'm concerned, in PFF
- 9:17ways as an elite corner. This year.
- 9:21He was ranked in the 20s in PFF. Last year it was closer to the
- 9:26teens. He's an elite corner when you
- 9:30look at the size and the ability that this kid has, but the
- 9:35things that he does on the field, yanking on jerseys and
- 9:38maybe not playing as hard as you would expect a top corner to
- 9:42play, it makes you worry if you're going to pay a guy $30
- 9:46million, that kind of money and not get the most out of him.
- 9:52Aaron Glenn obviously didn't think that he would fit the
- 9:55culture in that locker room, and I've heard through the Grapevine
- 10:00that he hasn't been a culture setter in that locker room.
- 10:06Then there's Quinton Williams. Quinton Williams, who I have a
- 10:11lot of respect for, he's been a top defensive lineman in the
- 10:15league for the last 5-6 years, got a lot of money from The
- 10:20Jets. He had one great season with The
- 10:24Jets where I remember he had over 10 sacks.
- 10:28It reminds me of quite a few defensive players in the past.
- 10:32And we'll have Quentin Couples on the show and I'm sure he
- 10:35knows who I'm speaking about. I will give you one of those
- 10:41guys, Muhammad Wilkerson. Muhammad Wilkerson had one great
- 10:46season for the New York Jets and then got an extension.
- 10:49I remember there were a lot of New York broadcasters that said
- 10:54if they don't sign Muhammad Wilkinson, I'm done with The
- 10:56Jets. Well, they signed him.
- 11:00They gave him a big time deal worth about $87,000,000.
- 11:03He was one of the highest paid defensive lineman and then he
- 11:06broke his fibula. He was never the same player.
- 11:12And again, going back to The Jets, in the back end of the New
- 11:15York Jets, there's a lot to not like about this organization.
- 11:19One of them, your owner's name is Woody Johnson.
- 11:23Woody Johnson. That by itself scares me when
- 11:28we're talking about a guy's name, Woody, and his last name,
- 11:33Johnson. He hasn't done anything for this
- 11:36organization as far as put the right guys in position to
- 11:41succeed. He has been the voice of reason
- 11:45when it comes to picking up players and selling them off.
- 11:50He's also a guy that opened his mouth so far this season and
- 11:55thrown his starting quarterback onto the bus.
- 11:58You don't want to hear that from your owner because when you have
- 12:01an owner that opens his mouth to the media, what else is he
- 12:05telling? To what?
- 12:06What else is he telling the media?
- 12:09The New York Jets are an organization that is the
- 12:13laughing stock of the NFL longest tenure of teams not to
- 12:20make the playoffs. And when you look at that, 15
- 12:24years not in the playoffs and rooting for this team who has
- 12:27some of the best fans, I won't. I won't lie about this.
- 12:30I attacked the Jet fans, but the Jet fans are reliable when it
- 12:34comes to going to games, showing up and rooting for this horrible
- 12:40team called Gangrene, which by the way, they should change the
- 12:43name. It's it's a horrible name.
- 12:44It's probably one of the worst things about him.
- 12:48Source. Gardner is a guy that is dating
- 12:52a rapper named Ice Spice. OK.
- 12:56During the offseason, it was big in the tabloids.
- 13:01As important as what The Jets did in the offseason.
- 13:04That is what I heard about the New York Jets.
- 13:09Hey guess what everybody Sauce is dating.
- 13:11I spice, who cares? And the fact right now is Sauce
- 13:18is going to a team that gave the New York Jets 2 first round
- 13:23picks. Now we don't know what those
- 13:29picks are going to be. We don't know what Darren Mookie
- 13:32is going to do with those picks. We don't know if Darren Mookie
- 13:36can actually draft. We don't know.
- 13:41But what I do know about this team and about this coaching
- 13:47staff is Steve Wilkes will not, will not be here next year.
- 13:52I could guarantee that. And this team of misfits, and I
- 13:59mean misfits because you have Bruce Hall coming out and and
- 14:03pretty much ordering The Jets to trade him at the trade deadline,
- 14:06saying he wants out. That's why The Jets didn't trade
- 14:09him. And then Quincy Williams came
- 14:12out after his brother was traded to the Cowboys and said, you
- 14:14know, some interesting things and posted stupid things.
- 14:17And that's why The Jets are sitting him out as a backup
- 14:21linebacker. This guy was The Jets best
- 14:23linebacker going into the season and now he's a secondary player
- 14:27that might not even start for the rest of the season.
- 14:30Why? Because he's a big mouth and The
- 14:33Jets have always let these players speak their mind.
- 14:39Not anymore. Aaron Glenn does not want his
- 14:43players going out there and abusing the media.
- 14:47Over the last couple of years, Robert Sala has allowed these
- 14:52idiots to go out there, speak their mind, and throw the
- 14:56organization under the bus. Like a clown, Like a circus,
- 15:00like a circus clown. And the New York Jets have
- 15:03always been looked at as a circus.
- 15:06And Aaron Glenn does not want to be looked at like that anymore.
- 15:09And I don't think Darren Mookie wants that either.
- 15:12Now, Woody Johnson needs to stay away.
- 15:14He needs to keep his mouth shut. That is something that they need
- 15:17to figure out how to control. But what The Jets did at the
- 15:22trade deadline was a slam dunk. Guys, think about this.
- 15:29I don't care what players, Mitchell or Smith, those guys
- 15:33might not be a part of the team at the end of the season.
- 15:35I don't know. We'll see.
- 15:37Mitchell's young, he's 23 years old.
- 15:39He'll have a chance to make the team next year.
- 15:41He was the second round talent. He could still be very, very
- 15:44good. We'll see.
- 15:45The Jets will develop him. The Colts did not because they
- 15:49didn't need them. They had Pittman, they had
- 15:50Downs. They have a bunch of good wide
- 15:52receivers there. They didn't need Mitchell.
- 15:54They drafted him in the second round last year.
- 15:57It didn't work, but with these picks, it sets The Jets up very
- 16:06well going into the next two off seasons and now they have to
- 16:11find a franchise quarterback. They have to.
- 16:15It is a must to find a franchise quarterback in the next two
- 16:21seasons. Now, I don't know if it's going
- 16:22to be in this year's draft because The Jets screwed up
- 16:25again. They beat Cincinnati at the tail
- 16:28end of the game where they were the bona fide number one pick.
- 16:31And then all of a sudden at the trade deadline, they move sauce.
- 16:34They move quitting and pretty much tell you we give up on the
- 16:36season, we're waving the flag, the season is over for us.
- 16:42Then why would you win that game if you know the season is over?
- 16:47That was the stupidity of this organization.
- 16:51I remember now. Thank God Trevor Lawrence is not
- 16:53a Jet after what we've seen over the last couple of years with
- 16:56the Jaguars. But the Jet fans were pissed off
- 16:59when they beat the Rams. I mentioned that on the show
- 17:01about a week ago because they lost out on Trevor Lawrence.
- 17:05Instead, they got Zach Wilson and we all know what he was
- 17:08doing with his mother's best friend.
- 17:12It's a problem when you bring in the wrong guys to an
- 17:16organization that's been a laughingstock.
- 17:21We look at so many organizations that have been laughingstocks.
- 17:26Cleveland laughingstock, Cincinnati laughingstock.
- 17:33I could go on and on and on. Miami laughingstock.
- 17:39There are like 6 or 7 teams in the NFL that are successful and
- 17:44have been successful over the last 25 years and you all know
- 17:49who they are because ownership success of leaving in place the
- 17:56right coaching staff. That is what makes teams
- 18:01successful. The Jets here in New York, they
- 18:06don't know how to hold on to coaches, GMs, you name it,
- 18:09assistance. They have one guy that they've
- 18:12held on to, and that's because he's the owner of the team.
- 18:15It doesn't. And even him, he wasn't there
- 18:17because he decided to move to England when Donald Trump went
- 18:20on to take over for the United States and his brother Chris was
- 18:25running the show. It's an organization that's been
- 18:29a joke and me as a Jet fan, I'm wearing a Danny Donge jersey
- 18:34because I just got it. I it's a Colts jersey.
- 18:36I know Fish doesn't like it and that's why I love it and I got
- 18:39it made and I will show you what it says in the back.
- 18:44My problem here is not what Darren Mooji has done.
- 18:52There is nothing that tells me, yes, Fish, thank you.
- 18:56My thoughts to what Darren Mooji has done at the trade deadline
- 19:01is not bad. It's good because what he is
- 19:04trying to do is send away the bed in that locker room.
- 19:09Now, Quinn Williams didn't want to be there.
- 19:11We've heard through the Grapevine for the last two years
- 19:13he didn't want to be there. Bruce Hall doesn't want to be
- 19:17there. So The Jets are going to do what
- 19:18they need to do in signing trade.
- 19:20I guarantee you they're going to sign him or they're going to
- 19:24what it What do they call that? Speedy franchise tag?
- 19:27Franchise tag Bruce Hall in the offseason just to piss him off
- 19:34and they're going to move them. They're going to do what they
- 19:36want with him, dangle him around until somebody gives them what
- 19:40they want, which is a third round pick.
- 19:43The Jets have done the right thing.
- 19:46Jet fans sit back and just smile you.
- 19:51Did you think that this was going to be a fun season?
- 19:53Did you think that this was going to be a great season?
- 19:55Do you really think that this team can compete right now
- 19:59against the New England Patriots and what they put together with
- 20:02Vrabel? You had a chance to hire Vrabel.
- 20:05If you wanted Vrabel, you shouldn't have let him leave New
- 20:09Jersey. He left and he went to the
- 20:12Patriots. If you wanted him so bad, you
- 20:14should have given him whatever he wanted.
- 20:17And that's why I think Aaron Glenn was the right fit for the
- 20:21right organization. He wants to be here.
- 20:25He wants to win here. He wants to show fans that they
- 20:29can win here. Why is everybody attacking what
- 20:34they have done at a trade deadline that was wide open and
- 20:38they got three first round draft picks and a second rounder for
- 20:42the next two years? Why is there so much sorrow and
- 20:46so much craziness right now in Jetland?
- 20:50Because the Jet fans should sit back and shut up.
- 20:54Zipper your mouths, put a beak on it.
- 20:58I don't know how you put a beak on it, but you could do
- 21:00something like that. I mean, kiss something, put
- 21:04something when you put a sausage in your mouth.
- 21:06Speedy likes that, right? I do.
- 21:09The problem right now is going to be what the offseason is
- 21:15going to lie with this new regime.
- 21:19Are The Jets going to make the right move?
- 21:24And what the right move is this offseason is deciding if there
- 21:29is a quarterback in this class they really, really want?
- 21:33And is that quarterback going to take this team to the next
- 21:37level, which they've been looking for for the last 50
- 21:41years? And I don't know if there's one
- 21:45I've, I believe Fernando Mendozo is.
- 21:48Mendoza is a guy that I like, but does does that mean he's
- 21:53going to be a franchise play? I don't know.
- 21:57And fans, you don't know because once you go to the NFL, it's a
- 22:03fast-paced game. It's different than the NCAA.
- 22:06This is not playing the SEC, the Big 10 or a PAC 12.
- 22:11This is different. It is different at the speed of
- 22:15the game is completely different.
- 22:17And Zach Wilson, he had no idea what he was walking into.
- 22:22He didn't know what the media was going to do to him because
- 22:24as soon as he decided to speak to the media and say the things
- 22:30that he said and show up to Broadway shows and find out who
- 22:34his uncle is, he owns JetBlue. I mean, there's so many things
- 22:38that you wonder with the New York Jets that more than meets
- 22:45the eye about an organization that has been nothing but a joke
- 22:51and a laughing stock of everybody.
- 22:54Think about it. Rich Eisen is a Jet fan.
- 22:58He was excited about Aaron, Aaron Rodgers.
- 23:01How quick was that over? How, how quick was that
- 23:04marriage? It was done in a in a game
- 23:07really in 4 plays. Aaron Rodgers career with the
- 23:12New York Jets ended in 4 plays and I don't care about the
- 23:16season they played after that. It ended in 4 plays.
- 23:21And then when we look at some of the things that The Jets have
- 23:25done over the years, trading Sam Donald for a second and a fourth
- 23:30where I thought Joe Douglas should have kept that and held
- 23:34on to Sam Donald. What did The Jets give Sam
- 23:37Donald when he was here? Nothing.
- 23:40They gave him nothing, no weapons, nada.
- 23:44So what did they do? They brought in a BYU
- 23:47quarterback, which I agree. I said that I thought he was
- 23:50going to be good. A quarterback that didn't last
- 23:53more than a season where everybody said this guy isn't
- 23:57the right guy. Christian Hackenberg wasn't the
- 24:00right guy, none of these guys, but you had guys that might have
- 24:04been somewhat successful if you held on to them for a
- 24:08significant portion of time. Do you know Smith being another
- 24:13Seattle had a fun time with him. He almost was.
- 24:16He was up for an MVP. He was a top six, top seven
- 24:18player for an MVP the year that he he played well over there
- 24:21with Pete Carroll. That's why Pete decided to bring
- 24:24him in over there with Vegas. And now look at Sam.
- 24:28Look at the success Sam has had with Minnesota, and now Seattle
- 24:34just turned himself $100 million contract.
- 24:37Sam is happy. And when he left the New York
- 24:40Jets, I could only remember some of the things that he said on
- 24:44social media that pretty much settled him very happily to go
- 24:49to Carolina because he didn't want to be here anymore.
- 24:52He didn't want to deal with the media.
- 24:53He didn't want to deal with the fans.
- 24:55He didn't want to deal with the abuse that he was getting when
- 24:58he wasn't doing the things that they wanted.
- 25:01And that's win. And this team knows nothing
- 25:04about it. Now, Quinton Williams, and I'm
- 25:08going to finish up here very quickly because I'm sure you
- 25:11guys got your take. What was The Jets record with
- 25:15Quinton Williams in the lineup? And I'm going to tell you what
- 25:19the record was. They were 33, if I'm not
- 25:23mistaken, and 75, 33 and even at 30 in the thirty wins mark and
- 25:32in the 70 loose mark to tell me that this guy was something to
- 25:37cry about when The Jets decided to move on from him, I'm not
- 25:40crying. He's not a winning player.
- 25:44He doesn't win. And Ahmed, AKA Sauce Gardner,
- 25:50what did they win with him? He has been here for three
- 25:54years, right? Three years speedy.
- 25:57This is year 4 for him. So 3 full years with The Jets.
- 26:00This was year 4 for him. He got a contract in a
- 26:04three-year span, a big one, and what did he do?
- 26:09He was a two time all pro player.
- 26:11He was a three time pro ball player.
- 26:14He shouldn't have made the pro ball last year.
- 26:15He didn't play well at the tail end of the season and he had a
- 26:18lot to say to the media at the end of the season.
- 26:22He is not a good fit here as far as Aaron Glenn is concerned and
- 26:27only time will tell you if Aaron Glenn is the right guy here as
- 26:33well. I believe he is, but he needs to
- 26:36put the right personalities and he needs to put the team in
- 26:41position the way he sees fit to win.
- 26:45Yeah, and that's the problem. When you look at a team that's
- 26:47trying to get these types of personalities together, they
- 26:50sign the big names. I think The Jets, the impression
- 26:53of it was, OK, we want to avoid the drama that was going through
- 26:56throughout the offseason that you see other teams do with
- 26:58these holdouts and stuff like that.
- 26:59And the Sauce Garner contract and Garrett Wilson contract
- 27:02happened literally 5 days apart. And I think because of that,
- 27:05they wanted to make that kind of thing work, knowing that all
- 27:07right at the start of the year, were we thinking a playoff team?
- 27:10And no. But were we thinking a team that
- 27:12still could compete? Yes.
- 27:13And obviously The Jets got off to this rocky start.
- 27:16But like you were saying, all year, they've been in every game
- 27:18Besides the Bills blew him out and Dallas being by double
- 27:20digits. But even that wasn't that bad
- 27:22either. The Jets still played very well,
- 27:25but at the same time, you're not going to turn down values that
- 27:28are this good in traits. Quinn and Williams.
- 27:31We knew Dallas was shopping in for the for the offseason
- 27:33because of the whole Micah Parsons rumor that you guys
- 27:35talked about months ago that they were going to want to Quinn
- 27:38and Williams in a deal potentially from Parsons.
- 27:39But The Jets were not one player away.
- 27:41They were not one Micah Parsons away from being a championship
- 27:43competitive team. So there's no way they were
- 27:45going to pull the trigger on that.
- 27:46But there's going to be the market out there.
- 27:48And I was always saying if you could sell high on Quinn
- 27:50Williams, go for it. Like, if the deal is there, make
- 27:53it happen. Mozzie Smith, he hasn't been
- 27:55great in the NFL so far, but maybe he's he could be a solid
- 27:58plug in in a different scheme. We saw that Aaron Glenn replace
- 28:01all these reaches that the Lions drafted his defensive tackles in
- 28:03previous year to make you working for a minimal defense.
- 28:06And same kind of thing with Sauce Garner, Like, yeah, you
- 28:08paid him $30 million. I thought he deserved it at that
- 28:10time. Has he been amazing this year?
- 28:12No. Has he been a top ten corner?
- 28:13Probably still, Yeah, I would say so.
- 28:15But you're not turning down two first round picks from a team in
- 28:18the Colts have been desperate for corners for years.
- 28:20The Jets, Any Jets fan that's mad at this cannot be mad at
- 28:24when The Jets could get good assets to build a team.
- 28:27You don't win Super Bowls on three stars on one unit and be
- 28:31able to win with just like average to below average depth
- 28:34players. After that, unless you have a
- 28:35really, really good generational coach like an Andy Reid or a
- 28:39Bill Belichick, maybe you can get away with that.
- 28:41No other team can get away. With it, but you don't know if
- 28:43you have a generational coach right now because Aaron Glenn's
- 28:47in position right now with a roster that wasn't his.
- 28:50So you have to take a step back and realize this is a rookie
- 28:54coach. He's never done this before.
- 28:57He's been a defensive coordinator and a quarterback
- 28:59coach his whole career, all the way through with the Lions and
- 29:04he was working with the Saints and Sean Payton.
- 29:07You got to give this guy a little bit of time.
- 29:08It takes three years to build a roster.
- 29:11It does. It takes three years.
- 29:13And if you don't have the quarterback, you don't have of
- 29:16anything. Why did OK, you say 3 years.
- 29:20Why does it? Why does it?
- 29:21Why? Why three years?
- 29:23OK, so the first year is always the off year because you're
- 29:27still moving towards figuring out what players fit your
- 29:31scheme. OK, so after the first year, you
- 29:34know this guy's not going to fit.
- 29:36This is got this guy's not going to fit in the locker room.
- 29:38So you move them. Now you got to bring guys in.
- 29:41It takes a year to get these guys to commit to your defense
- 29:46in your offense. And that takes a full year to do
- 29:50because the offense in the game is a little bit more faster from
- 29:53playing college football. So that takes a little bit more
- 29:56time to figure out how they're going to fit in your scheme,
- 30:00even though you believe they're a perfect fit.
- 30:02And then the third year, you got to make sure that your
- 30:05quarterback that you've had or you've built up to be your guy
- 30:10is comfortable in that offense with the style that you're going
- 30:15to run and the players that you have surrounding him and make
- 30:19sure that you have the right protection.
- 30:21And, and Fish knows this when it comes to offensive lines.
- 30:24If you don't have an offensive line, you don't have nothing.
- 30:29That's the way offenses worked in the NFL.
- 30:32You can ask anybody. You ask right now the Eagles,
- 30:36why are they so successful? They're offensive line.
- 30:39You ask the Lions why are they so successful?
- 30:42Because of their offensive line. You go down to Kansas City, why
- 30:45they won all those Super Bowls with Patrick Mahomes, It was
- 30:50because of their offensive line. That is the fact, guys.
- 30:54And if you don't have the right guys surrounding your young
- 30:59quarterback and the quarterback you believe is your franchise,
- 31:02you're not winning nothing. And The Jets offensive line pass
- 31:05blocking wise there was advanced that I saw it in the weapons hot
- 31:08group. They were actually #1 going into
- 31:10Week 8 in terms of some some kind of advanced pass blocking
- 31:14metric. So it shows that they have that
- 31:15part of it down. Obviously Garrett Wilson's had a
- 31:17great year. So you have those part of it's
- 31:19going for your offensive side of the ball.
- 31:21But again, the defense is something that you still thought
- 31:23and I was, I fell for it too. I dropped for them in fantasy in
- 31:26our job on the mouth league. That was still going to be a
- 31:28strength for them. I didn't.
- 31:29Yeah. And with the past rush with the
- 31:31secondary that they thought they had, on paper it looked like be
- 31:33the case. Obviously that wasn't the case
- 31:35because obviously sauce. Was, you know what scared me
- 31:37about The Jets defense right after what they gave Sherwood
- 31:41that kind of money. They gave Sherwood a $40 million
- 31:44contract and I was like, what did Jamie and Sherwood, he's
- 31:47been on this show before. We've had him on this show.
- 31:49He had nothing to say when we were interviewing.
- 31:51I pull so many tricks out of the hat when I have guests that
- 31:55don't really speak. And this guy, I could pull 6 or
- 31:587 tricks and maybe do a tumble twist and I still couldn't get
- 32:02anything out of this man. So why did I believe he was the
- 32:06cornerstone of a defense that really didn't know who they they
- 32:09were after? You know, there was a guy that
- 32:12was so detrimental important to that defense who's no longer in
- 32:17the NFL. And you know what I'm talking
- 32:18about speedy CJ Mosley. I was.
- 32:22That was the point I brought up at the beginning of the season.
- 32:25And Speedy, you remember that we had this conversation that it
- 32:27doesn't matter that his skills were declining.
- 32:31You need a captain of the defense now.
- 32:33Sherwood has been a league average linebacker.
- 32:36According to PFF. He's 35th out of 82 qualifying
- 32:40linebackers. He's.
- 32:42Fine, but the problem is you can have a guy who's fine at
- 32:47linebacker if you have a captain of the defense playing next to
- 32:50him. And now CJ Mosley's not there.
- 32:53This is a guy who was experienced enough to set guys
- 32:55up in the right place. And the example I used back when
- 32:58we first talked about it was Antonio Pierce as a Giants fan.
- 33:01When the Giants won those championships, they traded for
- 33:04Antonio Pierce. He became the quarterback of the
- 33:07defense, they say, at that Mike linebacker position and having
- 33:11that communication. And Errol, I don't think I was
- 33:13with you when Sherwood came on, but if it was hard to
- 33:16communicate with him on the on the air, I can imagine he's not
- 33:19a great communicator on the field either.
- 33:21And that's the biggest thing you need to be able to do.
- 33:24You need that and you need a guy like that in the secondary to
- 33:26make sure the secondary strength is set correctly as well in the
- 33:29NFL level and in like D1 college and stuff like that.
- 33:32They don't have the middle of the field figured out.
- 33:36It doesn't matter how good Sherwood is, he's fine.
- 33:39They don't have a leader there. And they're secondary.
- 33:42I mean, the safety play now they have a young kid that I really,
- 33:45really like. And I'm starting to see that he
- 33:47might have potential from Alabama.
- 33:49He looks like he's going to be decent.
- 33:51But everybody else in that secondary you question, Michael
- 33:53Carter didn't fit in his defense.
- 33:55This guy was one of the best slot defenders in all of
- 33:57football for the last three years under Robert Sala.
- 34:01He went from great to horrible. And now he's going to an Eagle
- 34:05team that really doesn't need them and they're just they're a
- 34:07bag of riches. I mean, think about it,
- 34:09Phillips, I, I mean, who's better than the Eagles right now
- 34:13sitting And I'm, I'm an Eagles fan, so I'm loving it.
- 34:15So I'm not going to complain about it.
- 34:17The Jets love to make trades with the Eagles and and the
- 34:21Eagles like to make trades with The Jets.
- 34:22So I'm not going to cry about it.
- 34:24I'm both a Jets and Eagles fan. So but it bothers me when you
- 34:28sit back and you realize The Jets have been an organization
- 34:33that really depends on certain players in a defense as much as
- 34:37they do in an offense. They haven't had a guy that and
- 34:39quarterback and they don't they don't really have a leader in
- 34:42that defense anymore. And that secondary, let's be
- 34:45honest, when you talk about secondary captains and you give
- 34:49source Garner the captaincy going into the last two seasons,
- 34:53I don't care what he is an all pro pro ball player.
- 34:56I could care less when he's not out there talking to the other
- 34:59corners and he's pretty much going on the sidelines and
- 35:02throwing his helmet and complaining to the coaches that
- 35:05he's not seeing or the other guys are not in the right
- 35:07positions. And he's not in the right
- 35:09positions in the red zone, which The Jets are one of the worst
- 35:13at. It tells me that Source Corner
- 35:16is not an elite corner as much as we thought he was.
- 35:19Yeah. I also think you look at a lot
- 35:20of defenses that have won in recent years too, like sometimes
- 35:23you can get away with it with good coaching combined with
- 35:26maybe one or two star players too.
- 35:28And you could see the value was still there for the advanced
- 35:30metrics for Quinn and Williams. Quinn and Williams was a guy
- 35:33that, you've said it in other years at all, sometimes get
- 35:35double teams so he doesn't get the sack totals as much, but
- 35:37still was productive in other areas.
- 35:39And same kind of thing with Sauce.
- 35:40Sauce has a physical role as a corner that it's hard to find
- 35:44now. He's had issues with effort
- 35:46tackling and stuff like that too.
- 35:47But clearly the Colts and a lot of other teams around the league
- 35:49did not think that way. And same kind of thing with
- 35:51Quinn and Williams. Quinn and Williams, it was only
- 35:53going to be sold high because of the quickness and the advanced
- 35:55metrics that work. Now he fits in the Colts
- 35:58defense. He really does like a glove.
- 36:00The Colts needed a number one corner and he fits there.
- 36:03Now we'll see how he plays under a different regime.
- 36:07He plays with a better defense and with an elite team.
- 36:10We'll see if source Garner goes out there and gives it his all
- 36:14because he hasn't given his all for the last two seasons.
- 36:17He really hasn't. And and any Jet fan that has
- 36:20seen this guy play in the first two years and try to correct
- 36:23themselves on what source Garner has been that the final two
- 36:26years with his Jets career. You can wonder if he really
- 36:30wanted to go out there and play or just wanted to be on
- 36:34commercials or go sign autographs.
- 36:37Or be there with a superstar rapper and show up to all her
- 36:41concerts in the offseason and not show up to certain practices
- 36:45and certain OTAs he should have showed up to.
- 36:48I'm just, I'm speaking the truth here and I don't know Sauce
- 36:51Garner in a hole in a wall. And yes, Nathan, I know you know
- 36:54him. I know you posted up the
- 36:56pictures. I know you know his brother.
- 36:58And I would love to get his brother on the show cuz I would
- 37:00love to hear his take on the Sauce Garner situation.
- 37:03Sauce Garner. Here's another problem that I
- 37:06don't like about Sauce Sauce. After he got traded, what did he
- 37:10say? Speedy, do you remember what he
- 37:11said? I do not.
- 37:13Well, he said something in 4 words.
- 37:16So long. So long, New York.
- 37:19Whatever. It's up on the screen for you.
- 37:20Arrow on the top of the screen. I got the tweet right there.
- 37:23New York. I can't see been real.
- 37:25It's been real. A green hearts.
- 37:27All right, so if you're number one pick and you're a star with
- 37:31the team and you're an organization and you just got
- 37:33traded and, and fans are upset and you know, fans are upset
- 37:37because they love you and you're 1 of you have one of the hottest
- 37:40jersey sales for the New York Jets.
- 37:42As a matter of fact, I think he was #1 this year.
- 37:47So how do you say 4 words and a heart and that's all you say to
- 37:53the fans? Why don't you do what Daniel
- 37:56Jones was being ridiculed by the Giant fans.
- 37:59And then when he got let go and, and pretty much thrown to the
- 38:03walls and he goes to Minnesota and now he's with, he's with
- 38:06the, he's with the, the great and powerful Indianapolis Colts.
- 38:11Because I say great and powerful because Danny Dimes is winning,
- 38:14baby. He wrote a whole story to the
- 38:19Giant fans, telling the fans goodbye and thank you for
- 38:23showing up to games and supporting him for all the
- 38:27things that he tried to do for the fan base.
- 38:30That's what you want to hear from your superstar player.
- 38:33And what did you hear from Source Garner?
- 38:36Nothing. Immaturity.
- 38:38And it shows you how much love he had over here for the Jet
- 38:43fans and Jet fans, you shouldn't have sorrow.
- 38:45You shouldn't be upset. You should smile and wave
- 38:49goodbye because that's what I'm doing to Source Garner.
- 38:52Enjoy. I hope you win a Super Bowl.
- 38:54I hope you go to the Super Bowl with the Colts because we're
- 38:56going to be there at the Super Bowl.
- 38:58And I'd love to interview you and ask you your true opinion on
- 39:02why you didn't post up a nice letter to the Jet fans.
- 39:07Because to me. OK, so, so let me ask you this
- 39:09there as an athlete, why do you think we owe that to you?
- 39:13I'm not, I'm not saying you owe anything to me.
- 39:15I'm a. I'm a no.
- 39:17What I'm saying as the fan, as a fan base, I'm asking you say
- 39:20why, why did he only write that comparable to some other people
- 39:24that there's been a lot of dudes that have wrote short little
- 39:27excerpts that have kind of been the same thing, but but hit on
- 39:29the same way. Do you like, I'm just wondering
- 39:33from your perspective, I'm going to give it to you.
- 39:36Do you feel like we owe that as the athlete because you took us
- 39:40in in the draft that we give you some sort of kumbaya as as we
- 39:46leave and and whatever. And obviously there's more to it
- 39:49than that. I in in accepting and being a
- 39:52part of the culture in the community.
- 39:53Like I understand that. But as far as that being said,
- 39:56like from his perspective like that, like, do you feel like he
- 40:00has to do more? Like that's an obligation that
- 40:02he owes you guys? Here's my opinion and we have to
- 40:07move on. But here's my opinion job as a
- 40:10fan. And I'm I'm a media guy, so I
- 40:12can't tell you, even though I root for The Jets, I could care
- 40:15less what Sauce Garner says or does.
- 40:17I really don't care. But there are young kids out
- 40:20there that look up to them. They look up to them and they he
- 40:24goes to these autograph signings and and says that I'm going to
- 40:27be a Jet for life. I want to be a Jet for life and
- 40:30you get traded and instead of showing sorrow and up being
- 40:34upset, you just pretty much wave the flag and say you know a
- 40:39couple of words. And as a young kid and a person
- 40:43that rooted for a team your whole life and seen so many bad
- 40:48football and you were the finally a guy that was going to
- 40:52resurrect that position because Darrelle Reeves is retired.
- 40:55And you have Aaron Glenn, who was the last great corner on the
- 40:59organ, you know, with this organization that was drafted by
- 41:02the organization. And that's all you put out
- 41:04there. I, I do, I believe that it as a,
- 41:08as a professional and as a guy that fans are look up to young
- 41:12kids, look up to, you have to go out there and give them some
- 41:17kind of respect and, and show them that you loved playing
- 41:21here, that you adored the young fans and that you're sorry that
- 41:26it didn't work out with the New York Jets.
- 41:28And, and that's my opinion too. Towards Sauce Garner, Quinton
- 41:32Williams posted up something nice to the Jet fans.
- 41:35Yeah, no, I I just wanted your like your take on it as like
- 41:38obviously both sides as a fan, like kind of weird because I I
- 41:41don't know if you guys saw the video of the little kid of the
- 41:43dad, his dad telling him that sauce got traded and like he
- 41:46started crying and stuff like that.
- 41:48So I understand, like I understand that that part
- 41:51obviously, I don't know the insurance and outs of what he's,
- 41:53you know, in the signings, what he's saying, because that's
- 41:56obviously if you go out and say this to to that type of kid,
- 41:59it's it's things that they're never going to forget and then
- 42:02they're going to, you know, they're going to hold that
- 42:04against them. I mean, there's so many stories
- 42:06that I think we've all heard where it's like, oh, he got
- 42:08traded and then beat us and I now I hate that team or
- 42:11whatever. I mean, there's, there's so many
- 42:13stories like that, but I always find it interesting that like
- 42:16how you guys perceive of somebody leaving that was
- 42:18drafted from the organization and and doesn't of whatever you
- 42:23felt like it is. Because I mean, there's really
- 42:26no job description, like I've said before, but there is part
- 42:29of a responsibility as somebody that has has paid their time
- 42:34there, but also the people that have paid their time to watch
- 42:37you. And then the respect factor was,
- 42:38so I understand. Thank you to all the fans
- 42:41following us on Spotify and Apple and obviously YouTube.
- 42:46Yeah, we're growing on all the social medias.
- 42:48We're on Reddit too job in the mouth and we have all our
- 42:52stories on Reddit right now and it's actually growing.
- 42:54It's it's really, really good. Go check out my stories, my Joel
- 42:57and beat stories sensational. I'm not lying to you.
- 42:59It's funny. It's definitely my humor.
- 43:02If you like the humor on this show, you definitely have to
- 43:04read the stories. They're they're they are funny.
- 43:07I put a lot of time into it. So you definitely get the the
- 43:11personality part to it. And Schaefer, if you're an
- 43:15Islander fan and you wanna hear my beanbag thoughts to John
- 43:19Tavares, you definitely gotta read that story as well.
- 43:22Speedy was laughing to it the whole time.
- 43:24Speedy, You like that one, right, Speedy?
- 43:27Yeah. Yeah.
- 43:28Well, speak up, man. What's wrong with you?
- 43:29You have a thumb up your wrist. I'm trying to not to spoil it
- 43:31for them well. They gotta read it.
- 43:33They. Have to read it they.
- 43:34Gotta read it. And anyways, Oh yeah, it's been
- 43:38a great one. Speedy, who do we have on
- 43:39Monday? Alright, returning to the show
- 43:40is the daughter of Jack Burke. We just had on last week in
- 43:44Allie Burke. She is a singer.
- 43:45She's a pop singer. And can we get her to sing on
- 43:48the show? You can.
- 43:49You can try. I mean, definitely could I?
- 43:50Could I be a backup singer? So Jabba, the last time we had
