- 1:00Speaker 1: There we go, There we go, and we are here
- 1:03Speaker 1: our nerdsure houses. Everybody doing out there. Hope everyone is
- 1:07Speaker 1: having a great holiday season. It's now December, it's cold out,
- 1:13Speaker 1: the hawk is out of New York, we got rain
- 1:16Speaker 1: all that. But I'm feeling really good, man. It's been
- 1:18Speaker 1: a fabulous year. I have to say, I mean despite,
- 1:22Speaker 1: you know, I mean up and down. You know, twenty
- 1:24Speaker 1: twenty four obviously has been up and down for everyone.
- 1:27Speaker 1: There's been some challenges, you know, grief and all that
- 1:30Speaker 1: celebrations as well. But you know, I have to say, overall, man,
- 1:34Speaker 1: it's been a really great year and I'm really thankful
- 1:36Speaker 1: for everything that this year brought in, really excited and
- 1:39Speaker 1: hopeful to see what, you know, future brings. Speaking of
- 1:44Speaker 1: time though, we're about to have a time today, I
- 1:47Speaker 1: can't even say this is highly requested. But you know,
- 1:50Speaker 1: we've been doing our top five series and we already
- 1:53Speaker 1: did the Top five MCU. Made sure you peep that video,
- 1:57Speaker 1: you know, if you're watching on YouTube right now, go
- 2:00Speaker 1: ahead and hit the follow on subscribe if you haven't already,
- 2:03Speaker 1: and then click on the top five MCU where we
- 2:05Speaker 1: talked about the top five MCU movies. So you know,
- 2:09Speaker 1: I mean, if you're gonna do the MCU, gotta do
- 2:13Speaker 1: the DCE, right, I mean, it's only right and d
- 2:17Speaker 1: c EU the dc Extend the Universe headlined by mister
- 2:23Speaker 1: Zack Snyder himself. I mean, you know this is what
- 2:27Speaker 1: produced the what was it?
- 2:30Speaker 3: Please?
- 2:31Speaker 1: What was the hashtag when they were doing that Justice League.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Ship the director release the director.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Release the directors. I mean like this led to you know,
- 2:40Speaker 1: such other hashtags like recast to Challa. You know what
- 2:44Speaker 1: I mean, this is like the start of entitlement for
- 2:47Speaker 1: the fan base, like bitch shouts to the DCE, groundbreaking
- 2:52Speaker 1: in so many ways.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Redirect ben I means energy here, I will say, and
- 2:56Speaker 2: I think you and I do agree that we don't
- 2:57Speaker 2: cover DC enough.
- 2:59Speaker 1: We wait, I don't agree there.
- 3:00Speaker 3: I'm talking about.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Listen, listen d C, d C as a record label, okay,
- 3:05Speaker 2: like everything, not just the d CU.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Okay, I just I will. I think we did agree
- 3:11Speaker 3: to that, can you don't?
- 3:12Speaker 1: I do not shout out to far Set by Kate Jamison.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I just finished that graphic novel from d C. Fantastic,
- 3:21Speaker 1: absolutely fantastic.
- 3:22Speaker 3: That's what I mean. It's a record label. Everything DC does.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm talking I'm shout out far Set before.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I'm just doing it again to make sure. And then
- 3:29Speaker 1: everyone's been asking me what I thought about Penguin, And yes,
- 3:32Speaker 1: I fully enjoyed it, but I also felt like it
- 3:36Speaker 1: was pointless and that's why I haven't already talked about
- 3:39Speaker 1: it that okay.
- 3:40Speaker 3: But the fact is it was good. Okay, that's not
- 3:43Speaker 3: why we're here.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Listen.
- 3:46Speaker 3: We chose listen, listen, listen.
- 3:49Speaker 2: We chose the d C EU because we know, like
- 3:51Speaker 2: the new dc HELM by James Gunn, it's it's in
- 3:54Speaker 2: the you know, it's in the mix.
- 3:56Speaker 3: There is marinating. We didn't want to, you know, even
- 4:00Speaker 3: do speculation. Not quite yet.
- 4:01Speaker 2: We are also taking away taking off the table the
- 4:05Speaker 2: Nolan films because that's not quite DCU anyway. I know
- 4:09Speaker 2: it's kind of similar timeframe, but not quite. So we
- 4:13Speaker 2: we really stuck strictly with what is considered.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Damn. It's only like thirteen movies or something like that.
- 4:18Speaker 2: That's the DCEU, and we chose our top five as usual.
- 4:23Speaker 2: We also have an honorable mentions, which we probably should
- 4:25Speaker 2: start with, right.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Honorable mentions. Akaman word up? Okay, yeah, Jason Momoa did
- 4:32Speaker 1: the thing is Acaman. A lot of people hated on
- 4:35Speaker 1: that casting Arthur Curry is traditionally blonde hair, blue eyed,
- 4:40Speaker 1: and I always don't give a damn about any of that,
- 4:42Speaker 1: So shout out to Jason Momoa. I thought that was
- 4:45Speaker 1: brilliant casting as Akaman.
- 4:47Speaker 3: It was hating on some some racist shit pretty much.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Oh okay, I thought it was hating on like acting,
- 4:53Speaker 3: you know, Priori.
- 4:54Speaker 1: No no, no, no, pure racist, pure racism. Okay, pear racism
- 4:58Speaker 1: there anyone who tries to not whatever. Yeah, Aman was also.
- 5:03Speaker 2: On my houniable mentions, and literally only because Jason lamonas
- 5:06Speaker 2: Arthin Curry Like. He was actually a very brilliant portrayal
- 5:09Speaker 2: of Arthur Curry more kin to Arthur Curry that I
- 5:12Speaker 2: see in the animations, and I thought it was smart
- 5:16Speaker 2: to make him, you know, of a Api descent like
- 5:19Speaker 2: kind of he's Aquaman.
- 5:21Speaker 1: So yeah, made sense. I mean, slightly racist.
- 5:25Speaker 2: But you know, I didn't think it was racist. I
- 5:29Speaker 2: thought it was taking back to the roots. Whose who else.
- 5:33Speaker 1: You cannot win. It's like, you know, as a black person,
- 5:36Speaker 1: if I'm not dancing in a movie, you know, I'd
- 5:38Speaker 1: be mad, and then I'm mad and I'm not dancing.
- 5:41Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 5:42Speaker 3: You shut up, Ben, You just saying ship.
- 5:44Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. Like, I mean, I don't need
- 5:46Speaker 1: you know, black people dancing in every movie, but I
- 5:48Speaker 1: need him have rhythm.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Some white people don't have rhythm.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I know, I grew up without it. I mean I
- 5:53Speaker 1: got a couple movies. You know. My two step is vishous.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Okay, listen back to the main point. Another honorable mention.
- 6:01Speaker 2: I think we both had on our list is Black Adam.
- 6:04Speaker 2: My reason again was very you did. But my reason
- 6:07Speaker 2: you might have took it off as we're talking live.
- 6:09Speaker 2: But my only singular reason was because of Aldus Hodge
- 6:12Speaker 2: as Hawkman. I like Hawkman a character. I like Alice
- 6:15Speaker 2: hodge portrayal of Hawkman a little bit of time. He
- 6:18Speaker 2: had to be that character anyway, and I like ALUs
- 6:21Speaker 2: Hodge as an actor, so fantastic. That's all I got
- 6:25Speaker 2: when it comes to Black Adam. But it remained to
- 6:27Speaker 2: be said that it should have been mentioned.
- 6:29Speaker 1: So as far as people are asking us serve you
- 6:32Speaker 1: other things, I have not finished Cross. I pretty much
- 6:34Speaker 1: gave up on it. I did tell me this did
- 6:38Speaker 1: the negroes at the wharf? Did they ever get their revenge?
- 6:42Speaker 3: I'm not going to reveal that.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I will talk about that on the episode where we
- 6:47Speaker 2: review Cross.
- 6:49Speaker 1: I don't give as much shout out to I do give.
- 6:51Speaker 1: I loved Aldus in as Hawkman. I loved his determination
- 6:55Speaker 1: to get his ass kicked in every scene by Black Adam.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I thought that was pure comedy and you know, great
- 7:01Speaker 1: because he should get his ashd by Black at him
- 7:03Speaker 1: every time out.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Yeah, but but he was not giving the fuck up.
- 7:06Speaker 2: So I yeah, and again I know when people say,
- 7:09Speaker 2: what do you mean, little portrayal, he was in the
- 7:10Speaker 2: whole movie, that's not I'm just saying it could have
- 7:12Speaker 2: went somewhere, and.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Black Atam is in my You read the notes kind
- 7:19Speaker 1: of wrong. It was like a Simpsons episode because I
- 7:21Speaker 1: was actually saying f Shazam and black Adam, not shotting
- 7:27Speaker 1: out black at him. But that was more because of
- 7:29Speaker 1: the rocks political views, which I know are more akin
- 7:33Speaker 1: to the actor from Shazam, who thankfully I can't remember
- 7:37Speaker 1: his name and I don't even feel like I should. Yeah,
- 7:40Speaker 1: fuck him basically and on every you know, he is
- 7:44Speaker 1: such a trash person on every level, super trash. So
- 7:49Speaker 1: because of that, you know, I did enjoy the first
- 7:52Speaker 1: Sesare movie at the time. I will never give it
- 7:54Speaker 1: automable mentions and I'll never give him any respect. F
- 7:58Speaker 1: him and F that movie. No, no, I'm mo mentioned
- 8:00Speaker 1: for either day.
- 8:01Speaker 3: You'll be mad later.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Then, because they tried Blue Beetle did like the effects.
- 8:07Speaker 3: I like that they focused on the Mexican American family.
- 8:10Speaker 2: They you know, they try to put some authenticity in
- 8:13Speaker 2: there from like how the family were with each other,
- 8:16Speaker 2: the food, like just the interactions language.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Obviously, it was vibrant, the colors were nice.
- 8:23Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying, Like it looked great. It just
- 8:25Speaker 3: didn't curl all the way over for me.
- 8:27Speaker 2: And this is one of the more higher rated DCEU films,
- 8:31Speaker 2: but it just didn't quite get over.
- 8:35Speaker 1: But it wasn't bad.
- 8:35Speaker 3: It's like, yeah, it ain't.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Quite get over to making it in my top five
- 8:40Speaker 2: DCEU I would say that.
- 8:42Speaker 1: And it's just like Black Adam where it's one of
- 8:44Speaker 1: them joints that is pretty much like a I call
- 8:47Speaker 1: them a T and T movie, Like they come on
- 8:49Speaker 1: before the basketball game and you don't turn the channel
- 8:52Speaker 1: because you want to watch the basketball game on Sunday.
- 8:55Speaker 1: But other than that, you would never watch a movie.
- 8:58Speaker 1: You know, it's in the background, you know, you don't
- 9:00Speaker 1: pay attention to it. That's Blue Bead or that's Black Adam.
- 9:03Speaker 1: They're good enough for that thought, That's what I'm saying.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Like there are ones that you'll turn the channel and
- 9:08Speaker 1: just remember the game is on, or you'll miss the
- 9:10Speaker 1: first quarter. You know, their joints, Like you're like, nah,
- 9:12Speaker 1: be I'm going to see what's on HBO right now. Sorry,
- 9:16Speaker 1: DNT no, you know, you know what I mean, Like
- 9:18Speaker 1: Wonder Man Wonder Woman eighty four, I'm turning the channel. Fam,
- 9:22Speaker 1: I'm not sitting game.
- 9:24Speaker 2: I will never let that play on TV.
- 9:27Speaker 1: No, never again. No. I saw it once and that
- 9:30Speaker 1: was more than enough. Dishonorable mention to Wonder Woman eighty four,
- 9:35Speaker 1: number five, and we are going from least the greatest.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Listen, I it was a struggle. Even My top five
- 9:44Speaker 2: is like even.
- 9:45Speaker 3: And I will say this I.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Have I'm not stay on business this week.
- 9:52Speaker 2: I put And to be clear, my top five is
- 9:54Speaker 2: not because I thought it was the pinnacle of cinema
- 9:57Speaker 2: when it particularly when it comes to superhero films. It's
- 9:59Speaker 2: just that, out of everything that the DCU gave me,
- 10:02Speaker 2: this is what I believe.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Is the top five.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Zach Snyder's Justice League.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Okay, so you so first you reprimanded him that you said.
- 10:10Speaker 3: No, you got on the Pantheon five.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I'm actually giving him top five because of all those
- 10:15Speaker 1: are not reprimands. I'm giving him because of all those reasons.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Because this negro managed to get like eighty million more
- 10:21Speaker 1: dollars to finish this movie, because my fucking managed to
- 10:27Speaker 1: weaponize his fandom and show people that it can be done.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Shout out to my brother man, you know, because he
- 10:37Speaker 1: did all these different things, you know. And then I've
- 10:42Speaker 1: actually sat through Sad Snyder's Justice League. It's not like
- 10:46Speaker 1: it's better than the other Justice League, you know, better
- 10:49Speaker 1: than the.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Other Justice League. But it's like, Okay, it's a slog.
- 10:54Speaker 1: There's a lot I do not agree with. But he
- 10:56Speaker 1: did give Cyborg more to do and much more of
- 10:59Speaker 1: an all and I really like that because you know,
- 11:02Speaker 1: that was nice and you know, anytime you put a
- 11:04Speaker 1: black Cat there. And I'm still mad that Cyborg never
- 11:07Speaker 1: got that solo film that he was promised. Justice for Cyborg,
- 11:09Speaker 1: I guess yeah, me and Mellow Brown we actually had
- 11:12Speaker 1: a a dope pitch for that joint too. Man.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I'm more interested in what they're gonna do with Are
- 11:18Speaker 2: they doing that?
- 11:18Speaker 1: Now?
- 11:19Speaker 3: They are doing a live ashingteen Titans movie.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Oh, I mean, James Junk got like a million how
- 11:23Speaker 2: they're gonna do Cyborg and that I think more.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I do want to see how they're doing well. I
- 11:28Speaker 1: mean it's trying to team. They're doing a Batman and
- 11:31Speaker 1: Robin joint too, so I mean it's a lot it's
- 11:33Speaker 1: a lot. We'll see what happens. I sill started watching
- 11:35Speaker 1: the Commandos yet, Yeah, I know that's I'm so you
- 11:38Speaker 1: know me now, Amien Damian Wayne. So yeah, Sad out
- 11:42Speaker 1: of Justice League is my number five pick, just for
- 11:45Speaker 1: the audaciousness of it. All Right, you're talking about tried that.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Nigga tries like you know what I mean, like you
- 11:54Speaker 1: cannot say Zach Snyder doesn't try like that. Nigga gives
- 11:58Speaker 1: it as f and all whether or not you agree
- 12:00Speaker 1: with it or not, you know, hot mess or not.
- 12:02Speaker 1: He putting everything into that hot mess.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Speaking of hot mess, my number five was The Flash
- 12:08Speaker 2: twenty twenty three, and I explained why, directed by Andy Muschetti.
- 12:13Speaker 3: I think that's how you pronounce his last name, rememory.
- 12:15Speaker 2: I said, this is very very small, very singular reasons
- 12:20Speaker 2: why Michael Keaton as.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Old Batman yep, not mad at that that mattered, that.
- 12:27Speaker 2: That actually mattered, and him being involved and then everywhere
- 12:31Speaker 2: that that went when they did, like you know, the
- 12:33Speaker 2: different multiverses thereof Yeah.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Just like watching him getting murdered over over again. Yeah,
- 12:39Speaker 1: a surprising you know, hilarity to me. I did not
- 12:42Speaker 1: set that to be you know, so that I would
- 12:44Speaker 1: enjoy so much.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Right, So, like there and you know there there were
- 12:48Speaker 2: some random enjoyable moments, okay, and the obvious one I
- 12:52Speaker 2: did not want or care or wish didn't exist, like
- 12:56Speaker 2: I didn't care like Ezra Miller, get the fuck out
- 12:59Speaker 2: right so bad. Also, I mentioned Laura van Dervoort, who
- 13:04Speaker 2: played Supergirl. She actually did a fantastic job, and unfortunately
- 13:09Speaker 2: her portrayal was vastly overshadowed by all the bullshit that
- 13:12Speaker 2: happened with that film. But I saw hints of greatness,
- 13:16Speaker 2: and I think that's why it ended up on my
- 13:18Speaker 2: top five, the Flash, because I saw all of these
- 13:21Speaker 2: glimpses of what could be in greatness, like all the
- 13:24Speaker 2: different multiversal things that were happening. I wanted to pluck
- 13:27Speaker 2: some of them out and say, DC, maybe try this,
- 13:30Speaker 2: maybe try that, push this other nigga to the neggaverse,
- 13:34Speaker 2: try something else.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Like I saw what could be, and you know, we
- 13:39Speaker 3: got what we got.
- 13:40Speaker 2: So I think it was more hopes and prayers, which
- 13:42Speaker 2: is why five got on the list.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I thought, honestly thought you'd put that on the list
- 13:47Speaker 1: because of our what happened in the theater that day
- 13:50Speaker 1: when we saw it.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Oh was that the pizza boxet?
- 13:56Speaker 1: That was the pizza boxes? That was me almost getting
- 13:59Speaker 1: into a all uh.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Get out screening we've ever been.
- 14:04Speaker 1: To shout out to fantastic Frankie who was up in there.
- 14:09Speaker 1: She was there for that, Yes she was. I will
- 14:11Speaker 1: and also shout out to fantastic Frankie. I gotta you
- 14:14Speaker 1: know when you said that this movie was on the
- 14:18Speaker 1: same level a Spider Verse, Yeah, I was a hot one. Anyway,
- 14:22Speaker 1: my number four it did not age well because I've like,
- 14:26Speaker 1: I've never seen this film again and I never will.
- 14:28Speaker 1: This is another one. The Flash is another one. I'm
- 14:31Speaker 1: definitely turning the channel before the game. I've done it.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I've done that. It's been on TNT. I've turned the channel,
- 14:37Speaker 1: all right, Number four for me the Man of Steel trailer.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Wait a minute that you are disrespectful as fuck the trailer.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Look. I actually will put the whole film at number
- 14:48Speaker 1: four because only because there's like we said, there's only
- 14:51Speaker 1: thirteen of these joints, and so it's like it's so tight.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Let me double check again, just how many it's not.
- 14:56Speaker 1: It ain't that many. I looked at the list it
- 14:58Speaker 1: is tight, you know. So, and the problem is if
- 15:01Speaker 1: you start putting the Nolan or even the Christopher Reeves
- 15:03Speaker 1: joints in this, it becomes those you know, like that's
- 15:06Speaker 1: my top sixteen.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Ok.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Yeah, if we did the you know, the Nolan and
- 15:10Speaker 1: Christopher Reeve era stuff, I'm putting all those above any
- 15:14Speaker 1: of it. So ifrid we're doing it this way. So anyway,
- 15:16Speaker 1: the Man Is Steel trailer to me is still just
- 15:18Speaker 1: one of the greatest pieces of cinema. It's so like
- 15:22Speaker 1: you talk about Hope, like that was like, Wow, They're
- 15:25Speaker 1: about to do it, you know, like it still brings
- 15:29Speaker 1: tears to our eyes when I watch it. It's a
- 15:31Speaker 1: fire ass trailer. It's Zach Snyder's best. Yeah, it's like
- 15:35Speaker 1: got all these moments where you're like damn, and then
- 15:38Speaker 1: the movie. Yeah, you know, the movie varying levels of
- 15:45Speaker 1: you know, returns on that. I do enjoy the fights.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I think they're vicious. I think, you know, you get
- 15:50Speaker 1: to see Kryptonians in action. I think cavill is great
- 15:54Speaker 1: as Superman. He doesn't really get to do much as
- 15:57Speaker 1: Clark Kent as I'd like to see my man, you know,
- 16:01Speaker 1: face diving it into a tornado talk about hero cake
- 16:05Speaker 1: or his hero cake in the second one. I can't
- 16:06Speaker 1: remember if hero cake is in the first one. Oh
- 16:09Speaker 1: my god, shout up to Mellow Gig because he was
- 16:11Speaker 1: the one who pointed out to me hero cake. I didn't,
- 16:13Speaker 1: I know, I didn't catch that line on the first one,
- 16:15Speaker 1: and it is just one of you know, while he
- 16:17Speaker 1: sat there eating his hero cake. It is one of
- 16:19Speaker 1: the greatest lines. I'm done, okay.
- 16:26Speaker 2: I actually, you know, since you mentioned Mano Steel was
- 16:29Speaker 2: your number four, that was actually my That was actually
- 16:32Speaker 2: on my top five as number two. And the reason
- 16:34Speaker 2: was that's because that's one of my more favorite DCEU films. Obviously,
- 16:38Speaker 2: Henry He's he's, he's he's like, at least for that
- 16:42Speaker 2: generation he was did defact those Superman and I'm standing
- 16:45Speaker 2: on business on that, and I'll argue you down about
- 16:47Speaker 2: why he was. Again, this wasn't Zack Snyder item but
- 16:50Speaker 2: and and for all the reasons people hated it back
- 16:52Speaker 2: then and then after the after the fact, they got
- 16:55Speaker 2: lit to it, like, oh maybe because it was the
- 16:58Speaker 2: more gritty, more dark, more brooding take on Superman. And
- 17:02Speaker 2: it wasn't necessarily the what is it the boy scout
- 17:06Speaker 2: that you that everyone was waiting for.
- 17:08Speaker 3: And I liked that.
- 17:10Speaker 2: I liked that the nigga got angry and was beating
- 17:13Speaker 2: bitches left and right right like I enjoyed seeing that.
- 17:17Speaker 2: I enjoyed seeing like, Okay, sure he's not supposed to
- 17:20Speaker 2: be about that and all I'm just like, no, nigga,
- 17:23Speaker 2: Like let's be real, okay, Like ship went down with
- 17:25Speaker 2: Kevin Costs and shit went down with Matha and the
- 17:27Speaker 2: rest of them. Like he's going to have a real reaction.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Give him something, give him, make him more human, and
- 17:33Speaker 2: not to.
- 17:36Speaker 3: He could have And like I.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Said later on in the movie Save Your Dad earlier,
- 17:41Speaker 1: it was stupid.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Fucking things happening like that, specifically, the most stupid thing
- 17:46Speaker 2: to happen in that movie and the most preventable disease.
- 17:49Speaker 1: That's not the dumbest, okay, And for me, I was.
- 17:51Speaker 3: The dumbest because I was just like, why.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Him kissing Lois Lane and the brubble of Metropolis?
- 17:56Speaker 3: That was just silly. This was stupid specifically, but but.
- 18:00Speaker 2: For for for all the reasons I mentioned, I fucked
- 18:02Speaker 2: with man Still and Michael Shannon as Zod that that
- 18:06Speaker 2: nigga is amazing, and the fact that he appeared like
- 18:09Speaker 2: three more times within the DCU, like because he fucking
- 18:14Speaker 2: he was.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Fucking funny as hell. He was great as Zod.
- 18:17Speaker 2: He was one of the better DCU feelings that actually
- 18:21Speaker 2: had some type of dimension to him. And yeah, he's evil,
- 18:25Speaker 2: just doing shit for like cause he don't give a fuck.
- 18:27Speaker 3: But he has his reasons and I fucked with that.
- 18:30Speaker 2: So and they made it clear what his reasons were,
- 18:32Speaker 2: and it was like, well, I disagree with you, but
- 18:34Speaker 2: you know you got some reasons. So Man of Steel
- 18:37Speaker 2: was also on my list, but I said number two
- 18:40Speaker 2: all right, they.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Dragged that nigga out to do Zod that nigga did
- 18:43Speaker 1: not even know why he was in the movie was
- 18:46Speaker 1: it didn't make those sense. But it's odd.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Niggas like.
- 18:50Speaker 1: He was like, I don't even know why I'm in
- 18:52Speaker 1: this movie. My number three is one the woman, the
- 18:58Speaker 1: first one specifically straight up down only the first one,
- 19:02Speaker 1: just like you. Number two is so terrible and for
- 19:04Speaker 1: so many reasons, so terrible pre Palestine disrespecting that movie
- 19:10Speaker 1: was you know, horrific that it almost took number one
- 19:15Speaker 1: off my list as well, it probably should. I don't
- 19:19Speaker 1: know if I can stand on it.
- 19:20Speaker 2: I was just gonna say much funny that you mentioned Palestine,
- 19:23Speaker 2: you know, homes Scionists, right, Oh, I.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Mean that part And in two there is like this
- 19:29Speaker 1: specific shout out to Alexei Alexander who pointed out how
- 19:33Speaker 1: the specific road scene with the kids, it's reminiscent of
- 19:37Speaker 1: some things that happened in Palestign and it's just horrific
- 19:39Speaker 1: that they would even reference it like that. So yeah,
- 19:43Speaker 1: fuck it. I ain't got not to say about number two.
- 19:45Speaker 1: I mean, by Wonder Woman, no more.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Great, I'm gonna say real world politics.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Notwithstanding, I just didn't never like that portrayal of Wonder Woman.
- 19:54Speaker 3: I was good. I didn't know I wanted them, you
- 19:56Speaker 3: know what.
- 19:56Speaker 2: I did like that, And that was a second first
- 19:59Speaker 2: or second one Demiscira. The first one when they all
- 20:02Speaker 2: the time they spent Themyscira.
- 20:04Speaker 3: That shit went hard.
- 20:05Speaker 2: And I wish that there was movies if you wanted
- 20:07Speaker 2: to do one of the women, let's do it one
- 20:09Speaker 2: of Woman's uh origin movie when solely about Themiscira and
- 20:13Speaker 2: going up there.
- 20:14Speaker 1: James Stunner is already doing that, So you got it coming.
- 20:17Speaker 2: That that mattered to me all this other bullshit and
- 20:20Speaker 2: the whole I love, like, bitch you a god, I
- 20:23Speaker 2: love this Trevor that fell out the goddamn sky, Like
- 20:27Speaker 2: what the god?
- 20:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I forgotten You're right?
- 20:30Speaker 3: Oh could you?
- 20:31Speaker 2: That's why I looked at that, and I just was
- 20:32Speaker 2: disgusted that this was on your list, My guy, Damn.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I was looking at your list and I was like,
- 20:36Speaker 1: which hers can I put on mine? But I can't
- 20:38Speaker 1: because I'm distrusted by your number three?
- 20:40Speaker 3: So hey, yeah, by number four.
- 20:44Speaker 2: The Suicide Squad twenty twenty one, Not to be confused
- 20:47Speaker 2: with the twenty twenty six David Iyer film. I'm talking
- 20:50Speaker 2: about the one that worked with the word d in
- 20:52Speaker 2: front that was directed by James Gunn because the James
- 20:55Speaker 2: Gunn Viola Davis as Manda Waller, perfect casting, like who
- 20:59Speaker 2: the fuck else would it be, but also like it
- 21:02Speaker 2: was a cohesive film that did the whole story about
- 21:06Speaker 2: what who and what Suicide Squad is and why they're
- 21:09Speaker 2: around and that they just be doing the dirty jobs
- 21:11Speaker 2: and they gonna get the head blown off if they
- 21:13Speaker 2: don't fucking comply right like, and you just it's just
- 21:16Speaker 2: a literally a mixed bag of random villains thrown together
- 21:20Speaker 2: or anti heroes thrown together and let's help save the
- 21:23Speaker 2: world right the bad way.
- 21:25Speaker 1: So it had starro with it.
- 21:27Speaker 3: It did have star with it.
- 21:28Speaker 2: And you know, I think again, just just this is
- 21:31Speaker 2: probably attributed to James gun and how you know, everything
- 21:34Speaker 2: he's done on the Marvel side of things, like they
- 21:36Speaker 2: they just made some random obscure characters fucking work.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I mean, he turned Peacemaker into a superstar.
- 21:44Speaker 3: And I love the Piecemorker show on HBO.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Love it. That is my number one pick. I think,
- 21:51Speaker 1: you know, I actually enjoyed both versts of the Suicide Squad.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I like the David Air joint. It has It's not
- 21:57Speaker 1: the best film, but it has moments that I love
- 22:00Speaker 1: and I think are really ill and underappreciated it And
- 22:02Speaker 1: there's a director's credit that that will probably never get
- 22:05Speaker 1: released at this point, but it probably leagues better than
- 22:08Speaker 1: what we did see. But once again, like you said,
- 22:11Speaker 1: James Gunn you know brings the heat. You know, Guardians
- 22:14Speaker 1: of the Galaxy proved it. He can take obscure characters.
- 22:17Speaker 1: I always knew James from even before that. I talk
- 22:21Speaker 1: about this movie all the time. It's a film slither
- 22:23Speaker 1: and When they first announced James for Guardians of the Galaxy,
- 22:27Speaker 1: I was hyped because I knew what Slither was. It
- 22:30Speaker 1: was comedic, it was gross, it had aliens in it,
- 22:33Speaker 1: it was weird as hell, and it had actions. So
- 22:36Speaker 1: I knew he could handle all those things. So right
- 22:38Speaker 1: away I was like, Okay, he doesn't do a great
- 22:40Speaker 1: job with and I actually knew the Guardian's character, so
- 22:42Speaker 1: I knew as random as they were, I knew what
- 22:45Speaker 1: he was dealing with, and I know he could make,
- 22:47Speaker 1: you know, some dope stuff with that. Same with Suicide
- 22:49Speaker 1: Squad and Suicide Squad in front of those books that
- 22:53Speaker 1: I love from back in the day. You know, I'm
- 22:55Speaker 1: a Suicide Squad fan. I was always a dope ass
- 22:58Speaker 1: comic and animation was fire as fuck. Yeah, I mean,
- 23:01Speaker 1: you know, like most of those DC movies was. But
- 23:03Speaker 1: the Suicide Throng was definitely great. But the comic book
- 23:06Speaker 1: I want to say is Ostrander is the writer. And
- 23:08Speaker 1: shout out to Man Drake who did some work on
- 23:10Speaker 1: Squad back in the day as well. Yeah.
- 23:12Speaker 2: So, and Suicide Squad was fun like, it was an
- 23:15Speaker 2: enjoyable movie. It was fun, it was funny.
- 23:18Speaker 1: It's that James Dunn. You know, James Dunn does what
- 23:21Speaker 1: he does as far as a writer in direction. Yeah,
- 23:24Speaker 1: same thing, And that's why I'm hype for his version
- 23:27Speaker 1: of DC because unlike you, I am. You know, I'm
- 23:30Speaker 1: a huge Superman fan. I do not, you know, believe Superman.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Yeah I know, but like you think, you know sometimes
- 23:36Speaker 1: the voice out thing and I'm you know, while me
- 23:38Speaker 1: is like all star Superman in front of the greatest
- 23:40Speaker 1: coma books of all time, one of my favorites, and
- 23:43Speaker 1: James Dunn is taken from that for the New Superman.
- 23:46Speaker 1: So I'm dumb hype. So that's mine. That's actually my
- 23:49Speaker 1: number one pick. But you know I'm shouting out now
- 23:52Speaker 1: and be done with that.
- 23:53Speaker 3: So all right, well let me catch up with you.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Yep.
- 23:57Speaker 3: I cannot stand Zachary.
- 23:59Speaker 2: But I pushed the Zam the original twenty nineteen as
- 24:02Speaker 2: number three.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Because it actually was a good, decent movie.
- 24:07Speaker 2: It It was a I want to say again, fuck
- 24:11Speaker 2: that guy, right, that main guy.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Fucked that guy over and over again. Fucked that guy.
- 24:18Speaker 2: I wish I could just remove him, right, But but
- 24:21Speaker 2: the I like, I've always liked Shazam as a character. Okay,
- 24:24Speaker 2: again for the animation, and they did do it right.
- 24:28Speaker 2: About that kid, What is it like when a kid
- 24:31Speaker 2: all of a sudden like instant adults, instant adulted yat
- 24:35Speaker 2: it into adulthood and then it has to.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Use the powers right and try to and like, how
- 24:42Speaker 3: do you manage that? How do you balance that?
- 24:44Speaker 2: How do you negotiate all of the bullshit that comes
- 24:46Speaker 2: along with it, the good, the bad, the ugly, And
- 24:48Speaker 2: they did it right. Like at the end of the day,
- 24:50Speaker 2: I'm not going to lie about how I felt about
- 24:53Speaker 2: the film. The film still was a good was an
- 24:57Speaker 2: entertaining film, and I did like the Jazam family and
- 25:01Speaker 2: everyone come together and you know, the brothers and the
- 25:04Speaker 2: sisters and like all of that. It had some heartfelt
- 25:09Speaker 2: moments too and.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Family.
- 25:13Speaker 1: It was on before the game recently, and I did
- 25:16Speaker 1: not turn the channel. I did walk out of the
- 25:18Speaker 1: room mostly though, so it was like, you know, I
- 25:20Speaker 1: paid attention, but I did not did not get me to,
- 25:24Speaker 1: you know, miss the first quarter.
- 25:25Speaker 2: That's okay, But I got the NBA the first specifically,
- 25:30Speaker 2: so that's number three and then my number one. I
- 25:33Speaker 2: gave it to twenty twenty Birds of Prey directed by
- 25:36Speaker 2: Kathy Anne because of the Harley Quinn herself. Margot Robbie,
- 25:42Speaker 2: Like again, I mean this, this movie, unfortunately stuffered the
- 25:45Speaker 2: same shit that a lot of movies that are targeted
- 25:47Speaker 2: by do broads.
- 25:49Speaker 3: When oh it's women.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Oh we're just gonna have to shoot this stuff down,
- 25:52Speaker 2: and you know, is it getting unjust reviews or unjust
- 25:55Speaker 2: feedback from the peanut gallery.
- 25:58Speaker 3: But it was actually a really well done movie, and
- 26:00Speaker 3: it really.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Was true to the catster of Harley Quinn, and it
- 26:03Speaker 2: took you on a fucking wild coke induced ride and
- 26:07Speaker 2: it made sense. It just made sense for how she
- 26:10Speaker 2: would react and then having to team up with the
- 26:12Speaker 2: other girls, like sh it was fun. The ship has
- 26:15Speaker 2: been the ship was outrageous, and I think that's why
- 26:18Speaker 2: it worked so well for me. It was completely outrageous,
- 26:21Speaker 2: but true to what the outrageousness of Harley Quinn psyche
- 26:25Speaker 2: and how she moves in the world.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Margaret Robbie is like one of my favorite actors out
- 26:29Speaker 1: right now, Like she's just such a dope woman and
- 26:33Speaker 1: then you know, such a fantastic actor and she's been
- 26:38Speaker 1: killing it as Harley Quinn. I can't remember Shorty's name,
- 26:41Speaker 1: but I love her and a lot of stuff. But
- 26:43Speaker 1: Shorty plays the huntress in this is so good. Oh yeah,
- 26:46Speaker 1: oh man, she's so good. And this joint shout out
- 26:50Speaker 1: to Shorty played Black can Airy.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Also Juicy Smoles Yep, damn.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Journey, Journey. Yeah she was here, but way before that,
- 27:03Speaker 1: Nigga put some respect on her name, goes, I love it.
- 27:09Speaker 1: She goes back to my movie to ease by you,
- 27:13Speaker 1: like as a little girl, to use by you.
- 27:15Speaker 2: She was coming more recently love Craft Country. Before that,
- 27:21Speaker 2: Johnny was Black Canary. Yeah, before that, Mary Elizabeth Winston
- 27:25Speaker 2: was yes, yes.
- 27:27Speaker 1: So good as the huntress. So yeah, Suicide squar it
- 27:30Speaker 1: is also I mean that Suicide for Bird of Praise
- 27:33Speaker 1: my number two. And you know, like for all the
- 27:36Speaker 1: reasons you said the action was incredible, that was the
- 27:38Speaker 1: last film I said she was super good.
- 27:41Speaker 2: And you know what, just again to give Margot Robbie
- 27:43Speaker 2: more of props like her dedication.
- 27:46Speaker 3: You can tell the the way.
- 27:48Speaker 2: She directs herself on well, she is being directed, but
- 27:50Speaker 2: she also directs herself on screen.
- 27:52Speaker 3: She loves the character. You can tell.
- 27:54Speaker 2: When someone truly genuinely loves the character that they've signed
- 27:58Speaker 2: up for and will fight to the end for that captor.
- 28:01Speaker 2: I felt that from her, and that's probably why I
- 28:04Speaker 2: connected even more. I love Harley Quinn period, but really
- 28:07Speaker 2: Margo's interpretation I connected even more deeply because I was like,
- 28:11Speaker 2: you really fuck with and stand on business when it
- 28:14Speaker 2: comes to Harley, and I can see that. And she's
- 28:17Speaker 2: even said even in the making of the film, like
- 28:18Speaker 2: you're putting her own money and like she's doing the
- 28:20Speaker 2: actual work to make this shit happen.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely did so. Shout out to her, Shout out
- 28:26Speaker 1: to you know, the whole DCE EU. That is our
- 28:31Speaker 1: top five. So just to recap, I had Zach Sniders,
- 28:34Speaker 1: Justice League at number five, Man of Steel at number four.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I really don't have a number three, number two, Birds
- 28:43Speaker 1: of Prey, and number one Suicide Squad. I'll put Batman
- 28:47Speaker 1: versus Superman in my number three because god damn with
- 28:50Speaker 1: that movie and hilarious as well, Mike, it is all right,
- 28:55Speaker 1: I'll shifted. Okay, that's my number five, and then Justice
- 29:00Speaker 1: leeds that sign number four. Man of Steel, yeah, because
- 29:04Speaker 1: Batman Versus Superman is a terrible movie, but you know,
- 29:07Speaker 1: wildly entertaining at the same time, so it can Yeah,
- 29:10Speaker 1: it can Wate.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Number five, and my top five are starting from number
- 29:14Speaker 2: five The Flash twenty twenty three, number four, Suicide Squad
- 29:18Speaker 2: twenty twenty one, number three Saxam twenty nineteen, followed by
- 29:22Speaker 2: number two Man of Steel, and then number one Birds
- 29:25Speaker 2: of Prey.
- 29:26Speaker 1: That's crazy that in one universe they got out of
- 29:29Speaker 1: what sixty movies there were two suicide squads, like two
- 29:33Speaker 1: tries at that, like that's crazy.
- 29:34Speaker 2: And the first one was named Supic Squad Side Squad,
- 29:37Speaker 2: and the first name was second one is.
- 29:39Speaker 1: The Suicide Squad Squad.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Yeah, just in case you misunderstood, Marvel did not do that.
- 29:44Speaker 1: You know, Marvel did not give you like two dare
- 29:47Speaker 1: Devils and I mean yeah, no not but not in
- 29:51Speaker 1: their one you know attempt like the first day that
- 29:54Speaker 1: was you know, Ben Afflett, that had nothing to do
- 29:56Speaker 1: with the you know, Faye and the rest.
- 29:57Speaker 3: So now I consider that the DCU pretty much.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, well that is our top five DCEU films.

- 33:17Speaker 1: in a personal note, I once got to read with
- 33:20Speaker 1: Nicki at Howard University in Pampton Auditorium at during a
- 33:26Speaker 1: poetry read. It it's a bunch of poets. I can't
- 33:28Speaker 1: remember how I got the opportunity. I was doing a
- 33:32Speaker 1: lot of poetry reads around Howard's tampus at the time,
- 33:34Speaker 1: so probably you know, got suggested because it was like,
- 33:37Speaker 1: you know, like it was like the poet's crew at Howard,
- 33:40Speaker 1: so I was one of them. So yeah, I got
- 33:42Speaker 1: suggested to do it, and I read with Nicki and
- 33:45Speaker 1: she liked my poem and it's just one of my
- 33:48Speaker 1: treasured memories. And I also want to give a bit
- 33:51Speaker 1: shout out to my brother Tino another DC who I
- 33:55Speaker 1: mean just in a crazy story he told me just
- 33:58Speaker 1: when I was hanging with him in San Diego. He
- 34:00Speaker 1: actually co wrote Nikki Giovanni's story for Marvel. She wrote
- 34:05Speaker 1: for Tales of Wakanda, an anthology book that featured a
- 34:09Speaker 1: black panther story obviously Tales of Wakanda, and Nikki Giovanni
- 34:13Speaker 1: wrote it and then Tino came in and like rewrote
- 34:17Speaker 1: and like basically made it into where it fit comic
- 34:20Speaker 1: book and story format. You know, could Nikki Moore the
- 34:22Speaker 1: poet and like lyrical with everything, and so he like
- 34:26Speaker 1: touched it up and through that they became great friends
- 34:28Speaker 1: and everything, and he knew her very well. So bit
- 34:32Speaker 1: shout out to him, and you know, well, once again,
- 34:34Speaker 1: rest in peace to Nikki, Thank you power, Nikki Giovanni,
- 34:37Speaker 1: M blessings always.
