- 0:14Speaker 1: and all. Boy, it's a hot, humid day. So you say, Ron,
- 0:17Speaker 1: how hot and humid is it out there? Well, I'll
- 0:19Speaker 1: be more than happy to tell you. It's 90 degrees
- 0:22Speaker 1: here at my studios on Tiffany Boulevard in Boardman.
- 0:24Speaker 2: 90 degrees.
- 0:26Speaker 1: On Tiffany Boulevard in Boardman. And it's humid out there,
- 0:29Speaker 1: to say the least. But so be it. We'll make
- 0:31Speaker 1: the best of it, wherever you are, whatever you're doing.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Hope you're having a healthy and happy day.
- 0:37Speaker 2: 330-729-9977.
- 0:37Speaker 1: We'll get you through to us. 330-729-9977. We'll get you
- 0:39Speaker 1: through to us on NewsRadio 570 WQEN. Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow,
- 0:41Speaker 1: I'm going to have I'm going to have a discussion
- 0:54Speaker 1: tomorrow on the Poland Library with the architect, the guy
- 0:59Speaker 1: that was the architect of the Poland Library when it
- 1:05Speaker 1: was built. And that'll be tomorrow at 3 o'clock.
- 1:10Speaker 2: All right?
- 1:10Speaker 1: That'll be on the 14th at 3 o'clock. We're going
- 1:13Speaker 1: to be doing that. So I'm looking forward to that.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I think it's a done deal, but we shall see
- 1:21Speaker 1: what happens. what he has to say about all of this,
- 1:26Speaker 1: and where it goes. A lot of people in Poland
- 1:28Speaker 1: are very upset about it. Bob Mastriana, the original architect,
- 1:36Speaker 1: I think, of the Poland Library. So he will be
- 1:41Speaker 1: here tomorrow. And I'll ask him questions about what's going
- 1:45Speaker 1: on there in his... as far as the thing sinking
- 1:48Speaker 1: and everything else. I'll try to pick his brain on
- 1:51Speaker 1: a lot of stuff. For you folks in Poland, a
- 1:53Speaker 1: lot of people in Poland are very upset about the
- 1:56Speaker 1: decision to vacate the Poland Library and build a new
- 2:01Speaker 1: one because of just how spectacular the Poland Library is.
- 2:07Speaker 1: All right, so that'll be tomorrow. Let's see. You're on air. Hey, Ron.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Yes. What's going on, sir? Beautiful, beautiful Ohio day.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Oh, you're back. You're back.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I am back. I'm back from up north.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Good.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Well, it's good to hear your voice.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a nice vacation. We went up to Iceland,
- 2:30Speaker 2: took a cruise. Gorgeous country. I would tell anybody out there,
- 2:33Speaker 2: if you ever get a chance to go, go. It's
- 2:36Speaker 2: just absolutely beautiful. It's a natural wonder. It really is.
- 2:40Speaker 1: There you go.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Now it's Now it's time to come back. I was
- 2:45Speaker 2: out at 6.30 this morning trimming my hedges. I just
- 2:47Speaker 2: spent three hours down at my neighbor's house helping him.
- 2:51Speaker 2: He lost a giant limb on one of those oak
- 2:53Speaker 2: trees during that storm, so I was helping him cut
- 2:55Speaker 2: that up, so... Just figured I'd give you a call
- 2:58Speaker 2: and see what I missed the last week.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Well, you missed a lot. Let me put it that way.
- 3:04Speaker 1: You got a big levy going on on the Canfield schools. Now,
- 3:09Speaker 1: think if you lived in Canfield. Now, just think of this,
- 3:12Speaker 1: what you're facing in Canfield. I think it's like a
- 3:14Speaker 1: 5.9 mil levy. It's a huge levy. All right, so
- 3:18Speaker 1: let's say you're a resident of the city of Canfield.
- 3:22Speaker 1: So you're getting the re-evaluations, right? So they're done with
- 3:25Speaker 1: the re-evaluations. So your property taxes are going to go
- 3:28Speaker 1: up anyway. You follow me? Because of the re-evaluations. So
- 3:31Speaker 1: you're going to get an increase on top of what
- 3:33Speaker 1: you're already paying if you don't vote for anything. Then
- 3:37Speaker 1: they want you to vote for like a 5.9 mil levy,
- 3:41Speaker 1: which is a huge levy on top of that. Then
- 3:44Speaker 1: you're facing an MRDD levy as well that's on the...
- 3:50Speaker 1: on the ballot as well. Can you imagine if any
- 3:54Speaker 1: of those pass and you reside in a city of Canfield?
- 3:59Speaker 2: Well, unfortunately, MRDD probably will because everybody, you know, feels
- 4:03Speaker 2: they've got to support that. And I mean, the problem is,
- 4:07Speaker 2: I bet if we look into it, you're going to
- 4:09Speaker 2: see gross mismanagement. You're going to see salaries and benefit
- 4:13Speaker 2: packages that those of us who are going to be
- 4:15Speaker 2: asked to pay that tax do not get from our employers.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Or from the federal government if we're retired. I mean,
- 4:22Speaker 2: that's the other thing we have to remember. Think of
- 4:24Speaker 2: how many people in this area are actually retired living
- 4:26Speaker 2: on fixed incomes. They don't get those big increases. It's fascinating.
- 4:30Speaker 2: If they get any increase from Social Security, I think
- 4:32Speaker 2: their Medicare premium usually sucks up a good chunk of it.
- 4:37Speaker 2: And now you want these people to keep paying. These
- 4:39Speaker 2: people just don't understand the meaning of the word no.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I had internet access, so I was reading some of
- 4:47Speaker 2: the Vindicator article on that Canfield levy. And, you know,
- 4:50Speaker 2: of course they have to threaten. If it doesn't pass,
- 4:54Speaker 2: this is what we're going to cut.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:56Speaker 2: And one of them was we're going to have to
- 5:01Speaker 2: duplicate administrative costs, I think was one of them. Why
- 5:04Speaker 2: don't you cut it now? Because I can tell you
- 5:07Speaker 2: right now, in the 20 years I've been following local education,
- 5:12Speaker 2: there is no government entity that wastes money like school systems.
- 5:17Speaker 2: And I should call up the treasurer at Canfield and
- 5:20Speaker 2: request copies of their contracts and different things that they sign,
- 5:24Speaker 2: their employee contracts, benefits.
- 5:26Speaker 1: They say it's a 5.9 mil levy. They say if
- 5:29Speaker 1: it doesn't pass the consolidation of administrative duties. Well, why
- 5:33Speaker 1: aren't you doing that now?
- 5:34Speaker 2: Doing it now.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I mean, that's called being more efficient, isn't it?
- 5:40Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, I wonder how many principals and assistant
- 5:43Speaker 2: principals you think they have in the high school.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I don't know, but they're saying if we don't get
- 5:48Speaker 1: more money..
- 5:48Speaker 2: Is there an assistant superintendent? There's probably that, or probably
- 5:52Speaker 2: an administrative assistant. These people, if they had to put
- 5:55Speaker 2: in an honest day's work, it'd kill them.
- 5:59Speaker 1: So consolidation of administrative duties. Then they say elementary and
- 6:03Speaker 1: middle school STEM programs. High school?
- 6:07Speaker 2: Go ahead. So you're going to punish the smart kids, then?
- 6:13Speaker 2: We're going to take care of this. The kids that
- 6:17Speaker 2: are in STEM are usually your future engineers, doctors, things
- 6:20Speaker 2: like that. So if you don't pass the levy, we're
- 6:23Speaker 2: going to punish the smart kids.
- 6:25Speaker 1: High school elective courses, including programs such as aviation and forensics,
- 6:30Speaker 1: advanced academic opportunities, including honors, AP, and college credit plus.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Well, I mean, number one, I don't think as a
- 6:38Speaker 2: high school you have to have avionics. And I don't
- 6:41Speaker 2: think you have to have forensics. Yeah. I'm sorry, man,
- 6:47Speaker 2: those are nice if you can afford it and you've
- 6:49Speaker 2: got a couple extra bucks laying around burning a hole
- 6:52Speaker 2: in your pocket and you want to do those, that's fine.
- 6:55Speaker 2: But those are wants, not needs. And I have to wonder,
- 6:59Speaker 2: you know, how many kids really are going to get
- 7:01Speaker 2: jobs in those subject areas? I bet it's not many.
- 7:06Speaker 2: I bet it's one handful, maybe two handfuls tops.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Well, school-sponsored field trips, non-core courses such as art, music,
- 7:18Speaker 1: family and consumer sciences, home economics, or required families.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Foreign language is the first thing that should go. You
- 7:24Speaker 2: know why? There's only one foreign language you really need
- 7:27Speaker 2: in this country if you want it, and that's Spanish.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Right.
- 7:31Speaker 2: But I can tell you right now, like, you've got
- 7:32Speaker 2: all the Koreans that work out at LG Chem, right?
- 7:34Speaker 4: Right.
- 7:36Speaker 2: They would come in. I know a pharmacist that works
- 7:38Speaker 2: over in Austintown. They would come in. Real simple to
- 7:40Speaker 2: talk to them. You just got out your cell phone
- 7:42Speaker 2: and get on Google Translate. No issues at all. So
- 7:46Speaker 2: is there really a need to have foreign language anymore?
- 7:49Speaker 2: Has technology maybe replaced the need for every kid that
- 7:52Speaker 2: wants to go to college? A lot of the colleges,
- 7:54Speaker 2: most of the colleges don't even require it anymore.
- 7:56Speaker 1: And, of course, busing. I mean, all of this stuff,
- 7:59Speaker 1: they're basically saying, listen, if you folks in Canfield don't
- 8:02Speaker 1: pass that 5.9 mil levy, This is what we're threatening
- 8:06Speaker 1: to do. And it's the threats to, once again, to
- 8:12Speaker 1: try to pass a levy. Just like that levy, I
- 8:17Speaker 1: forget what it was. I got to find a levy
- 8:21Speaker 1: for MRDD. I mean, it was a pretty substantial levy
- 8:25Speaker 1: as well. I remember it would increase your taxes $ 85
- 8:28Speaker 1: for every $ 100, 000 of a value.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Oh, so that's, you know, I mean, and what's the average?
- 8:38Speaker 2: I like how they always say the average owner of
- 8:41Speaker 2: $ 100, 000 or $ 125, 000 house. Who owns a $ 125, 000 house anymore?
- 8:47Speaker 2: Take a look at the, Vindicator prints the property sales
- 8:50Speaker 2: every weekend, Saturday, Sunday paper. Take a look at it.
- 8:54Speaker 2: How many city of Youngstown are selling for six figures now?
- 8:58Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 8:59Speaker 2: And when the mills went under, I mean, I remember,
- 9:01Speaker 2: you know, it's been decades since a lot of those
- 9:04Speaker 2: areas did that. You could buy houses for $ 15, 000, $ 20, 000
- 9:08Speaker 2: a decade or two ago.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Well, the guy in charge at MRDD said the cost
- 9:14Speaker 1: of providing all of the services has increased from roughly
- 9:17Speaker 1: $ 60 million annually to $ 100 million. How do you spend
- 9:21Speaker 1: $ 100 million.
- 9:24Speaker 2: On that? I mean, I'm sorry, not to sound unkind, okay,
- 9:32Speaker 2: but if you're going to be spending big chunks of
- 9:37Speaker 2: change like that, you need to put it on the
- 9:40Speaker 2: people that are going to be producers in society. And
- 9:44Speaker 2: we stopped having kids after our third because we had
- 9:46Speaker 2: three healthy kids and I didn't want to risk it.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I can't even fathom. I feel... so bad for people
- 9:51Speaker 2: that have kids that are developmentally challenged.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Well, I said this last week, though, and I said
- 9:56Speaker 1: it again. It was a great discussion.
- 9:58Speaker 2: And I.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Mentioned it last week. Okay, but last week, Clay and Buck,
- 10:04Speaker 1: I was with my son, and Clay and Buck said, well,
- 10:07Speaker 1: about young people, you know, his generation not having a
- 10:09Speaker 1: bunch of kids. And he turned to me and he said,
- 10:13Speaker 1: these guys are out of touch with reality. You want
- 10:15Speaker 1: to know why productive people aren't having a bunch of kids?
- 10:17Speaker 1: Because it's so damn expensive. They made everything so expensive. Housing,
- 10:24Speaker 1: buying a house is expensive. Buying a car, truck, or
- 10:27Speaker 1: SUV is expensive. Having children has become so expensive. So
- 10:31Speaker 1: these people, like Clay and Buck are bitching. that my
- 10:34Speaker 1: generation isn't having more kids, instead of saying, why aren't
- 10:37Speaker 1: they having more kids? You want to know the answer?
- 10:39Speaker 1: They can't afford it, is what he said. And all
- 10:43Speaker 1: of these people who look like, oh, we should be
- 10:45Speaker 1: having more children, the only people having more children are
- 10:47Speaker 1: the people on the dole who don't pay for it
- 10:49Speaker 1: or worry about it. But productive people that actually are
- 10:52Speaker 1: concerned about providing for their children are saying, we can't
- 10:56Speaker 1: afford any more kids, or we're only going to have
- 10:58Speaker 1: one kid or two kids, because look at the cost
- 11:01Speaker 1: of daycare. Look at the cost of everything.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Well, I mean, it's just insane. If you look at
- 11:07Speaker 2: the cost of building a house today, my neighbor went
- 11:10Speaker 2: out to the Parade of Homes, I think it was
- 11:11Speaker 2: in Canfield, maybe four or five weeks ago, he told me.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Him and his wife went out there and they're going around.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I think all the houses were over a million dollars.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Are you serious?
- 11:20Speaker 2: We're not talking mansions. Yeah, we're not talking mansions. I
- 11:23Speaker 2: think he said they were, you know, 2,500, 3,000 square
- 11:25Speaker 2: foot houses, which is a nice size house. But can
- 11:28Speaker 2: you imagine a house.
- 11:30Speaker 1: In my neighborhood? I can't even imagine how you could
- 11:33Speaker 1: justify that kind of cost. Now, here's the shocker. A
- 11:38Speaker 1: lot of times these lots, when we build Verb Manor,
- 11:41Speaker 1: I think our lot cost us $ 25, 000 for three-quarters of
- 11:46Speaker 1: an acre. And today, a lot's much smaller than that, $ 80, 000, $ 90, 000,
- 11:52Speaker 1: just for the lot.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Right.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Well, stop and think about it. If you're the developer, okay,
- 11:58Speaker 2: and you have to put in sewers and you have
- 11:59Speaker 2: to put in water lines and you have to probably
- 12:02Speaker 2: pay for the electric.
- 12:04Speaker 1: All that stuff got expensive, too. I mean, inflation has
- 12:10Speaker 1: affected everybody. But what are we doing? This is why
- 12:15Speaker 1: my son's generation aren't having 10 kids or 5 kids
- 12:18Speaker 1: or 3 or 4 kids. They simply can't afford it.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Yep.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Yep. I trust me. I've got, I've got three kids.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Why?
- 12:27Speaker 2: I've got one grandkid now and my daughter and her
- 12:31Speaker 2: husband and his husband would like to have, uh, you know,
- 12:34Speaker 2: two or three, maybe four and they, and they can
- 12:37Speaker 2: afford it, but there's not many people in their generation
- 12:40Speaker 2: that are making that kind of money. I mean, just
- 12:43Speaker 2: to re you know, you, you see those studies where
- 12:45Speaker 2: they say, yeah, this is how much it costs to
- 12:47Speaker 2: raise a boy. This is girls are always obviously more expensive. Um,
- 12:51Speaker 2: But I think it's like $ 150, $ 300. I can't even
- 12:55Speaker 2: remember what I saw it last time. But it was
- 12:57Speaker 2: a substantial, a huge amount of money. And you divide that,
- 13:01Speaker 2: you know, you've got 18 years to pay for that.
- 13:03Speaker 2: So let's say it's a quarter million dollars. And yet..
- 13:07Speaker 1: And yet there's nothing better in life than that. No.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I mean, when the dust settles in life, what was
- 13:15Speaker 1: more important than when you got married and when you
- 13:19Speaker 1: had children? There is nothing better in life.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I will tell you what's better than kids, grandkids. Grandkids is,
- 13:27Speaker 2: I hope to God you get one very soon because
- 13:31Speaker 2: it is a joy. My wife retired. My wife is done,
- 13:35Speaker 2: I think, August 7th is her last day. Because all
- 13:37Speaker 2: she wants to do is go babysit. She just can't
- 13:41Speaker 2: spend enough time with that little girl. Because it is
- 13:44Speaker 2: just a joy. I mean, you watch them, you forget
- 13:46Speaker 2: how quickly they grow up and how fast they develop.
- 13:50Speaker 2: And you're watching this little human being that, you know,
- 13:52Speaker 2: was helpless. And when they're born, they can't do anything.
- 13:55Speaker 2: And then you just start seeing the mile markers, you know,
- 13:57Speaker 2: one month, three months, five months. And it's just amazing
- 14:00Speaker 2: watching them. It's a pure joy.
- 14:02Speaker 1: And being retired, she doesn't have to worry about going
- 14:04Speaker 1: to work and all that kind of stuff. She can
- 14:06Speaker 1: sit back and And take it all in. But that's–
- 14:10Speaker 1: I mean, if you look around, it's just– it's absolute insanity.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I mean, it's crazy. I mean, just how expensive it
- 14:18Speaker 1: is for our young people to do. And we're not
- 14:21Speaker 1: making it easier on them. We're making it more difficult
- 14:24Speaker 1: for them as we continue to– to dwell on all
- 14:28Speaker 1: the time as we continue to increase property taxes. So
- 14:31Speaker 1: now if they want to buy a house, look at
- 14:33Speaker 1: how much property taxes are on the inflated value of
- 14:36Speaker 1: the house on top of what your payment is. Crazy.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just, they told us all the, I think
- 14:45Speaker 2: Ralph and all the rest of them told us only
- 14:47Speaker 2: to pay the first half taxes. I haven't gotten my
- 14:50Speaker 2: second half. Second half should be coming up in about
- 14:52Speaker 2: three weeks, right? Isn't it due the beginning of August?
- 14:54Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I think it's usually due like August 6th, August 10th,
- 14:58Speaker 2: somewhere in there. So, I mean, I don't know where
- 15:00Speaker 2: the bill is. Well, I think I might know. I
- 15:03Speaker 2: think all the laws that Dave Thomas got passed that
- 15:06Speaker 2: affected how much, you know, they're going to be able
- 15:09Speaker 2: to tax and collect from us. I don't think they're
- 15:11Speaker 2: getting any guidance from the state of Ohio on how
- 15:14Speaker 2: to do it. That's just a guess on my part,
- 15:17Speaker 2: but it would be neat if, you know, if Ralph
- 15:19Speaker 2: could call in or if somebody at the auditor's office
- 15:21Speaker 2: could explain, you know, because I looked about three weeks ago.
- 15:26Speaker 2: There's a house in my neighborhood that's sold. And I mean,
- 15:30Speaker 2: young couple, Ron.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Stand by. Stand by one minute. Stand by.
- 15:33Speaker 5: Back with Rich and more of your calls straight ahead. Now,
- 15:36Speaker 5: Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKVN.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Well, Heidi Ho, 306 here on a Monday afternoon. Ron
- 15:44Speaker 1: Verb with you till 7 o'clock tonight. It's the Rockport
- 15:47Speaker 1: Wealth Truth and Investing Program. That comes your way tonight,
- 15:50Speaker 1: 6 to 7. You're on News Radio 570 WKBN. Welcome
- 15:54Speaker 1: on and on. Boy, it's a hot, humid day. So
- 15:56Speaker 1: you say, Rod, how hot and humid is it out there? Well,
- 15:59Speaker 1: I'll be more than happy to tell you. It's 90
- 16:01Speaker 1: degrees here at my studios on Tiffany Boulevard in Boardman.
- 16:04Speaker 1: 90 degrees on Tiffany Boulevard in Boardman. And it's humid
- 16:09Speaker 1: out there, to say the least. But so be it.
- 16:11Speaker 1: We'll make the best of it wherever you are, whatever
- 16:13Speaker 1: you're doing. I hope you're having a healthy and happy day.
- 16:17Speaker 1: 330-729-9977 will get you through to us.
- 16:17Speaker 3: 330-729-9977.
- 16:21Speaker 1: 729-9977. We'll get you through to us on NewsRadio 570 WQEN. Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow,
- 16:31Speaker 1: I'm going to have a discussion tomorrow on the Poland
- 16:36Speaker 1: Library with the architect, the guy that was the architect
- 16:41Speaker 1: of the Poland Library when it was built. And that'll
- 16:47Speaker 1: be tomorrow at 3 o'clock.
- 16:50Speaker 2: All right.
- 16:50Speaker 1: That'll be on the 14th at 3 o'clock. We're going
- 16:53Speaker 1: to be doing that. So I'm looking forward to that.
- 16:59Speaker 1: I think it's a done deal, but we shall see
- 17:03Speaker 1: what he has to say about all of this and
- 17:06Speaker 1: where it goes. A lot of people in Poland are
- 17:08Speaker 1: very upset about it. Bob Mastriana says, The original architect,
- 17:16Speaker 1: I think, of the Poland Library. So he will be
- 17:21Speaker 1: here tomorrow. And I'll ask him questions about what's going
- 17:26Speaker 1: on there as far as the thing sinking and everything else.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I'll try to pick his brain on a lot of stuff.
- 17:32Speaker 1: For you folks in Poland, a lot of people in
- 17:34Speaker 1: Poland are very upset about the decision to vacate the
- 17:40Speaker 1: Poland Library and build a new one. And because of
- 17:44Speaker 1: just how spectacular the Poland Library is. All right, so
- 17:48Speaker 1: that'll be tomorrow. Let's see. You're on air.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Hey, Ron.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:54Speaker 2: What's going on, sir? Beautiful, beautiful Ohio day.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Oh, you're back.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Way on the warm side.
- 17:59Speaker 1: You're back.
- 17:59Speaker 2: I am back. I'm back from up north.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Good.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Well, it's good to hear your voice.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a nice vacation. We went up to
- 18:10Speaker 2: Iceland and took a cruise. Gorgeous country. I would tell
- 18:13Speaker 2: anybody out there, if you ever get a chance to go, go.
- 18:16Speaker 2: It's just absolutely beautiful. It's a natural wonder. It really is.
- 18:20Speaker 2: There you go, Steve. Now it's time to come back.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I was out at 6.30 this morning trimming my hedges.
- 18:27Speaker 2: I just spent three hours down at my neighbor's house
- 18:30Speaker 2: helping him. He lost a giant limb on one of
- 18:32Speaker 2: those oak trees during that storm, so I was helping
- 18:34Speaker 2: him cut that up. Yeah. Just figured I'd give you
- 18:38Speaker 2: a call and see what I missed the last week.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Well, you missed a lot. Let me put it that way.
- 18:44Speaker 1: You got a big levy going on on the Canfield schools. Now,
- 18:49Speaker 1: think if you lived in Canfield. Now, just think of this,
- 18:52Speaker 1: what you're facing in Canfield. I think it's like a
- 18:54Speaker 1: 5.9 mil levy. It's a huge levy. All right. So
- 18:59Speaker 1: let's say you're a resident of the city of Canfield.
- 19:02Speaker 1: So you're getting the reevaluations, right? So they're done with
- 19:05Speaker 1: the reevaluations. So your property taxes are going to go
- 19:08Speaker 1: up anyway. You follow me? Because of the reevaluations. So
- 19:11Speaker 1: you're going to get an increase on top of what
- 19:13Speaker 1: you're already paying if you don't vote for anything. Then
- 19:17Speaker 1: they want you to vote for like a 5.9 mil levy,
- 19:21Speaker 1: which is a huge levy on top of that. Then
- 19:24Speaker 1: you're facing an MRDD levy as well that's on the
- 19:31Speaker 1: ballot as well. Can you imagine if any of those
- 19:34Speaker 1: pass and you reside in the city of Canfield?
- 19:39Speaker 2: Well, unfortunately, MRDD probably will because everybody feels scared. They've
- 19:45Speaker 2: got to support that. And, I mean, the problem is,
- 19:47Speaker 2: I bet if we look into it, you're going to see.
- 19:50Speaker 2: gross mismanagement. You're going to see salaries and benefit packages
- 19:54Speaker 2: that those of us who are going to be asked
- 19:56Speaker 2: to pay that tax do not get from our employers
- 20:00Speaker 2: or from the federal government if we're retired. I mean,
- 20:02Speaker 2: that's the other thing they have to remember. Think of
- 20:04Speaker 2: how many people in this area are actually retired living
- 20:06Speaker 2: on fixed incomes. They don't get those big increases. It's fascinating.
- 20:10Speaker 2: If they get any increase from Social Security, I think
- 20:12Speaker 2: their Medicare premium usually sucks up a good chunk of it.
- 20:17Speaker 2: And now you want these people to keep paying. These
- 20:19Speaker 2: people just don't understand the meaning of the word no.
- 20:23Speaker 2: I had Internet access, so I was reading some of
- 20:27Speaker 2: the Vindicator article on that Canfield levy. And, you know,
- 20:30Speaker 2: of course they have to threaten. If it doesn't pass,
- 20:34Speaker 2: this is what we're going to cut. And one of
- 20:37Speaker 2: them was... We're going to have to duplicate administrative costs,
- 20:43Speaker 2: I think was one of them. Why don't you cut
- 20:45Speaker 2: it now? Because I can tell you right now, in
- 20:48Speaker 2: the 20 years I've been following local education, there is
- 20:53Speaker 2: no government entity that wastes money like school systems. And
- 20:58Speaker 2: I should call up the treasurer at Canfield and request
- 21:01Speaker 2: copies of their contracts and different things that they signed,
- 21:04Speaker 2: their employee contracts, benefits.
- 21:06Speaker 1: They say it's a 5.9 mil levy. They say if
- 21:09Speaker 1: it doesn't pass the consolidation of administrative duties. Well, why
- 21:13Speaker 1: aren't you doing that now?
- 21:14Speaker 3: Doing it now.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I mean, that's called being more efficient, isn't it?
- 21:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:22Speaker 2: I mean, I wonder how many principals and assistant principals
- 21:24Speaker 2: you think they have in the high school.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I don't know, but they're saying if we don't get
- 21:28Speaker 1: more money.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Is there an assistant superintendent? There's probably that or probably
- 21:33Speaker 2: an administrative assistant. These people, if they had to put
- 21:35Speaker 2: in an honest day's work, it'd kill them.
- 21:39Speaker 1: So consolidation of administrative duties. Then they say elementary and
- 21:43Speaker 1: middle school STEM programs. High school. Go ahead.
- 21:49Speaker 2: So you're going to punish the smart kids then? We're
- 21:54Speaker 2: going to take care of this. The kids that are
- 21:57Speaker 2: in STEM are usually your future engineers, doctors, things like that.
- 22:01Speaker 2: So if you don't pass the levy, we're going to
- 22:03Speaker 2: punish the smart kids.
- 22:05Speaker 1: High school elective courses, including programs such as aviation and forensics,
- 22:10Speaker 1: advanced academic opportunities, including honors, AP, and college credit plus.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Well, I mean, number one, I don't think as a
- 22:18Speaker 2: high school you have to have avionics. And I don't
- 22:21Speaker 2: think you have to have forensics.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:25Speaker 2: I'm sorry, man, those are nice if you can afford
- 22:29Speaker 2: it and you've got a couple extra bucks laying around
- 22:31Speaker 2: burning a hole in your pocket and you want to
- 22:33Speaker 2: do those, that's fine. But those are wants, not needs.
- 22:39Speaker 2: And I have to wonder, you know, how many kids
- 22:40Speaker 2: really are going to get jobs in those subject areas?
- 22:45Speaker 2: I bet it's not many. I bet it's one handful,
- 22:48Speaker 2: maybe two handfuls, tops.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Well, school-sponsored foreign language, school-sponsored field trips, non-core courses such
- 22:57Speaker 1: as art, music, family and consumer sciences, home economics, or
- 23:01Speaker 1: required families.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Foreign language is the first thing that should go. You
- 23:04Speaker 2: know why? There's only one foreign language you really need
- 23:07Speaker 2: in this country if you want it, and that's Spanish.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Right.
- 23:11Speaker 2: But I can tell you right now, like, you've got
- 23:12Speaker 2: all the Koreans that work out at LG Chem, right?
- 23:14Speaker 3: Right.
- 23:16Speaker 2: They would come in. I know a pharmacist that works
- 23:18Speaker 2: over in Austintown. They would come in. Real simple to
- 23:20Speaker 2: talk to them. You just got out your cell phone
- 23:23Speaker 2: and get on Google Translate. No issues at all. So
- 23:26Speaker 2: is there really a need to have foreign language anymore?
- 23:29Speaker 2: Has technology maybe replaced the need for every kid that
- 23:32Speaker 2: wants to go to college? A lot of the colleges,
- 23:34Speaker 2: most of the colleges don't even require it anymore.
- 23:36Speaker 1: And, of course, busing. I mean, all of this stuff,
- 23:39Speaker 1: they're basically saying, listen, if you folks in Canfield don't
- 23:42Speaker 1: pass that 5.9 mil levy, This is what we're threatening
- 23:46Speaker 1: to do. And it's the threats to, once again, to
- 23:52Speaker 1: try to pass a levy. Just like that levy. I
- 23:57Speaker 1: forget what it was. I got to find a levy
- 24:01Speaker 1: for MRDD. I mean, it was a pretty substantial levy
- 24:05Speaker 1: as well. I remember it would increase your taxes $ 85
- 24:08Speaker 1: for every $ 100, 000 of a value.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Oh, so that's, you know, I mean, and what's the average?
- 24:18Speaker 2: I like how they always say the average owner of
- 24:21Speaker 2: $ 100, 000 or $ 125, 000 house. Who owns a $ 125, 000 house anymore?
- 24:27Speaker 2: Take a look at the, Vindicator prints the property sales
- 24:31Speaker 2: every weekend, Saturday, Sunday paper. Take a look at it.
- 24:35Speaker 2: How many in the city of Youngstown are selling for
- 24:36Speaker 2: six figures now? Mm-hmm. And when the mills went under,
- 24:40Speaker 2: I mean, I remember, you know, it's been decades since
- 24:43Speaker 2: a lot of those areas did that. You could buy
- 24:47Speaker 2: houses for $ 15, 000, $ 20, 000 a decade or two ago.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Well, the guy in charge of MRDD said the cost
- 24:54Speaker 1: of providing all of the services has increased from roughly
- 24:57Speaker 1: $ 60 million annually to $ 100 million. How do you spend
- 25:01Speaker 1: $ 100 million.
- 25:04Speaker 3: On that?
- 25:08Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sorry, not to sound unkind, okay, but
- 25:15Speaker 2: if you're going to be spending big chunks of change
- 25:18Speaker 2: like that, you need to put it on the people
- 25:21Speaker 2: that are going to be producers in society. And we
- 25:24Speaker 2: stopped having kids after our third because we had three
- 25:26Speaker 2: healthy kids and I didn't want to risk it. I
- 25:28Speaker 2: can't even fathom. I feel... So bad for people that
- 25:31Speaker 2: have kids that are developmentally challenged.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Well, I said this last week, though, and I said
- 25:36Speaker 1: it again. It was a great discussion. And I mentioned
- 25:41Speaker 1: it last week. Okay, but last week, Clay and Buck,
- 25:44Speaker 1: I was with my son, and Clay and Buck said, well,
- 25:47Speaker 1: about young people, you know, his generation not having a
- 25:49Speaker 1: bunch of kids. And he turned to me and he said,
- 25:53Speaker 1: these guys are out of touch with reality. You want
- 25:55Speaker 1: to know why productive people aren't having a bunch of kids?
- 25:57Speaker 1: Because it's so damn expensive. They made everything so expensive. Housing,
- 26:04Speaker 1: buying a house is expensive. Buying a car, truck, or
- 26:07Speaker 1: SUV is expensive. Having children has become so expensive. So
- 26:11Speaker 1: these people like Clay and Buck are bitching that my
- 26:14Speaker 1: generation isn't having more kids. Instead of saying, why aren't
- 26:17Speaker 1: they having more kids? You want to know the answer?
- 26:19Speaker 1: They can't afford it. is what he said. And all
- 26:23Speaker 1: of these people who look like, oh, we should be
- 26:25Speaker 1: having more children, the only people having more children are
- 26:27Speaker 1: the people on the dole who don't pay for it
- 26:29Speaker 1: or worry about it. But productive people that actually are
- 26:32Speaker 1: concerned about providing for their children are saying we can't
- 26:36Speaker 1: afford any more kids or we're only going to have
- 26:38Speaker 1: one kid or two kids because look at the cost
- 26:41Speaker 1: of daycare. Look at the cost of everything.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Well, I mean, it's just insane. If you look at
- 26:47Speaker 2: the cost of building a house today, My neighbor went
- 26:50Speaker 2: out to the Parade of Homes, I think it was
- 26:51Speaker 2: in Canfield, maybe four or five weeks ago, he told me.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Him and his wife went out there and they're going around.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I think all the houses were over a million dollars.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Are you serious?
- 27:00Speaker 2: We're not talking mansions. Yeah, we're not talking mansions. I
- 27:03Speaker 2: think he said there were 2,500, 3,000 square foot houses,
- 27:06Speaker 2: which is a nice size house. But can you imagine
- 27:09Speaker 2: a house.
- 27:10Speaker 1: In my neighborhood? I can't even imagine how you could
- 27:13Speaker 1: justify that kind of cost. Now, here's the shocker. A
- 27:18Speaker 1: lot of times these lots, when we build Verb Manor,
- 27:22Speaker 1: I think our lot cost us $ 25, 000 for three-quarters of
- 27:26Speaker 1: an acre. And today, a lot's much smaller than that, $ 80, 000, $ 90, 000,
- 27:32Speaker 1: just for the lot.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Well, stop and think about it. If you're the developer, okay,
- 27:38Speaker 2: and you have to put in sewers and you have
- 27:39Speaker 2: to put in water lines and you have to put in,
- 27:42Speaker 2: you know, probably pay for the electric.
- 27:44Speaker 1: All that stuff got expensive, too. I mean, inflation has
- 27:50Speaker 1: affected everybody. But what are we doing? This is why
- 27:55Speaker 1: my son's generation aren't having 10 kids or 5 kids
- 27:59Speaker 1: or 3 or 4 kids. They simply are. It's just
- 28:02Speaker 1: they can't afford it.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Yep.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Yep.
- 28:05Speaker 2: I trust me. I've got, I've got three kids. Why?
- 28:07Speaker 2: I've got one grandkid now and my daughter and her
- 28:11Speaker 2: husband and his husband would like to have, uh, you know,
- 28:14Speaker 2: two or three, maybe four and they, and they can
- 28:17Speaker 2: afford it, but there's not many people in their generation
- 28:21Speaker 2: that are making that kind of money. I mean, just
- 28:23Speaker 2: to re you know, you, you see those studies where
- 28:25Speaker 2: they say, yeah, this is how much it costs to
- 28:27Speaker 2: raise a boy. This is girls are always obviously more expensive. Um,
- 28:31Speaker 2: But I think it's like $ 150, 000, $ 300, 000. I can't even
- 28:35Speaker 2: remember what I saw it last time. But it was
- 28:37Speaker 2: a substantial, it was a huge amount of money. And
- 28:40Speaker 2: you divide that, you know, you've got 18 years to
- 28:42Speaker 2: pay for that. So let's say it's a quarter million dollars.
- 28:46Speaker 1: And yet there's nothing better in life than that.
- 28:50Speaker 3: No.
- 28:50Speaker 1: I mean, when the dust settles in life, what was
- 28:55Speaker 1: more important than when you got married and when you
- 28:59Speaker 1: had children? There is nothing better in life.
- 29:03Speaker 2: I will tell you what's better than kids, grandkids. Grandkids is,
- 29:08Speaker 2: I hope to God you get one very soon because
- 29:11Speaker 2: it is a joy. My wife retired. My wife is done,
- 29:15Speaker 2: I think, August 7th is her last day, because all
- 29:18Speaker 2: she wants to do is go babysit. She just can't
- 29:21Speaker 2: spend enough time with that little girl, because it is
- 29:24Speaker 2: just a joy. I mean, you watch them, you forget
- 29:27Speaker 2: how quickly they grow up and how fast they develop.
- 29:30Speaker 2: And you're watching this little human being that, you know,
- 29:32Speaker 2: was helpless. I mean, when they're born, they can't do anything.
- 29:35Speaker 2: And then you just start seeing the mile markers at,
- 29:37Speaker 2: you know, one month, three months, five months. It's, and
- 29:39Speaker 2: it's just amazing watching. And it's a pure joy.
- 29:43Speaker 1: And being retired, she doesn't have to worry about going
- 29:45Speaker 1: to work and all that kind of stuff. She can
- 29:46Speaker 1: sit back and, and, and take it all in. But that's,
- 29:50Speaker 1: I mean, if you look around, it's just, it's an,
- 29:53Speaker 1: it's absolute insanity. I mean, it's, It's crazy. I mean,
- 29:57Speaker 1: just how expensive it is for our young people to do.
- 30:01Speaker 1: And we're not making it easier on them. We're making
- 30:03Speaker 1: it more difficult for them as we continue to dwell
- 30:08Speaker 1: on all the time, as we continue to increase property taxes.
- 30:11Speaker 1: So now if they want to buy a house, look
- 30:13Speaker 1: at how much property taxes are on the inflated value
- 30:16Speaker 1: of the house on top of what your payment is.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Crazy. Yeah, I'm just, they told us all the, I
- 30:25Speaker 2: think Ralph and all the rest of them told us
- 30:26Speaker 2: only to pay the first half taxes. I haven't gotten
- 30:29Speaker 2: my second half. Second half should be coming up in
- 30:31Speaker 2: about three weeks, right? Isn't it due the beginning of August?
- 30:35Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 30:35Speaker 2: I think it's usually due like August 6th, August 10th.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Somewhere in there.
- 30:39Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know where the bill is, but well,
- 30:42Speaker 2: I think I might know. I think all the laws
- 30:45Speaker 2: that Dave Thomas got passed that affected how much, you know,
- 30:47Speaker 2: they're going to be able to tax and collect from us.
- 30:50Speaker 2: I don't think they're getting any guidance from the state
- 30:53Speaker 2: of Ohio on how to do it. That's just a
- 30:57Speaker 2: guess on my part, but it would be neat if,
- 30:58Speaker 2: you know, if Ralph could call in or if somebody
- 31:01Speaker 2: at the auditor's office could explain, you know, because I
- 31:04Speaker 2: looked about three weeks ago. There's a house in my
- 31:07Speaker 2: neighborhood that's sold. And, I mean, a young couple, Ron.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Stand by. Stand by one minute. Stand by. Back with
- 31:13Speaker 1: Rich in more of your calls straight ahead. Ron, from
- 31:20Speaker 1: checking in with Terry C-Mac out at C-Mac's Appliance right
- 31:23Speaker 1: there in Youngstown, Poland Road in Struthers, you won't find
- 31:26Speaker 1: a better selection, you won't find a more competitive price.
- 31:30Speaker 1: In stock, they can get it to you really quick,
- 31:33Speaker 1: and great delivery, guys. That's been a tradition at C-Mac's
- 31:36Speaker 1: over the years, right, Terry?
- 31:38Speaker 2: Absolutely, and at that time of year right now, Ron,
- 31:40Speaker 2: when refrigeration breaks, freezers break, we have the largest selection
- 31:45Speaker 2: there is in stock, and if not, we can have
- 31:47Speaker 2: it in a day or two in your house. Every just... Basically,
- 31:50Speaker 2: any brand you can think of, any.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Model you can think of, we can have within a
- 31:53Speaker 3: couple of days inside your house.
- 31:55Speaker 2: It's that simple.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Absolutely. And washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, all the appliance needs
- 32:02Speaker 1: that you have in stock, many of them right there
- 32:04Speaker 1: that you can see and touch, and great delivery, guys.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Where are you located, Terry?
- 32:08Speaker 2: 864 Youngstown Pool Road, a mile and a half north
- 32:11Speaker 2: of Poland, a half mile south of Midlothian.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Make sure you pay him a visit, and you, too,
- 32:15Speaker 1: will be a satisfied customer at CMEX Northside Appliance.
- 32:18Speaker 5: Ron Frum checking in with Mike Miller out at the
- 32:20Speaker 5: coin shop. Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570-WKBN. All right, Rich.
- 32:31Speaker 1: What else?
- 32:32Speaker 2: No, I mean, a young couple, I think about four
- 32:35Speaker 2: weeks ago, buys a house in my neighborhood. I mean,
- 32:38Speaker 2: our neighborhood, we lived here 20 years. It was probably
- 32:40Speaker 2: about a $ 300, 000 neighborhood the vast majority of that time.
- 32:45Speaker 2: This house, very nice house, just sold for $ 765, 000. I mean,
- 32:51Speaker 2: can you imagine being a young couple? I think they're
- 32:53Speaker 2: both probably 30, 31 years old. I think he's a dentist.
- 32:56Speaker 2: She's a teacher. I mean, even if you put 20% down,
- 33:00Speaker 2: you're financing like, what, $ 600? Plus the property taxes, plus
- 33:05Speaker 2: the insurance, plus the utilities? Yep. I can't even fathom.
- 33:10Speaker 1: I wouldn't even do it. I would not even participate
- 33:13Speaker 1: in it. Under no circumstances would I do that.
- 33:18Speaker 2: But, I mean, that's not... Like I said, every Sunday
- 33:22Speaker 2: the Vindicator publishes property sales. Take a look at it.
- 33:25Speaker 2: It's incredible. I don't know how these poor people are
- 33:28Speaker 2: affording it.
- 33:30Speaker 1: It just..
- 33:31Speaker 2: I mean, God forbid, one of you... Something happens to
- 33:33Speaker 2: one of you and you're not working.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Right.
- 33:36Speaker 2: I mean, because you're probably putting it for sale at
- 33:37Speaker 2: that point.
- 33:38Speaker 1: You would have to.
- 33:39Speaker 2: I just... I just... And I don't know how you
- 33:42Speaker 2: fix it. I don't know what we can do to
- 33:44Speaker 2: fix it. How do you bring the price of a
- 33:46Speaker 2: stick of copper down? Or, you know... 14-2 wire to
- 33:50Speaker 2: wire the house. I mean, I think I used to
- 33:52Speaker 2: buy that stuff 20 years, 25 years ago. I used
- 33:56Speaker 2: to buy 14-2 wire for, what, probably $ 20 for 100-foot coil.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Price it now.
- 34:01Speaker 1: And then you sit back and you look at the
- 34:03Speaker 1: situation in Iran. It's not looking good.
- 34:10Speaker 2: I think we just need to basically get serious with them.
- 34:15Speaker 1: I think we've been serious with them. I counted that
- 34:19Speaker 1: by saying we smacked the living hell out of them.
- 34:22Speaker 1: I mean, if you take a look at it, so
- 34:26Speaker 1: you can continue to do some more and see what happens.
- 34:29Speaker 2: He's been threatening bridge and power plant day. Do it.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Take out the oil refineries. Look what's happening in Ukraine.
- 34:38Speaker 2: Ukraine's taken out the oil refineries, and now Russia's in
- 34:41Speaker 2: worse shape than Ukraine is. You know, so any more today,
- 34:46Speaker 2: I think the biggest problem you have right now is
- 34:51Speaker 2: you've got us and Russia, China, we have all these expensive, powerful,
- 34:55Speaker 2: you know, weapon systems. And you've got these other countries
- 34:58Speaker 2: that have a couple thousand dollar drone that you're shooting
- 35:01Speaker 2: a $ 3 million missile to take down a $ 50, 000 to
- 35:03Speaker 2: $ 20, 000 drone. The economics don't make sense. I don't know
- 35:10Speaker 2: why we're building aircraft carriers. That's just a big fat
- 35:13Speaker 2: target sitting out in the sea. A couple billion dollars
- 35:17Speaker 2: a pop. But the world is just changing so fast.
- 35:25Speaker 1: From a world standpoint, five years now for the war
- 35:29Speaker 1: in the Ukraine, and now you have this situation where
- 35:34Speaker 1: they said, oh, it's over, and And then prices come
- 35:37Speaker 1: down and the market adjusts to it. Well, now it's
- 35:40Speaker 1: back on. And we shall see where it all goes.
- 35:44Speaker 1: A lot of stuff going on in the world. There's
- 35:47Speaker 1: a lot of uncertainty that's going on in the world
- 35:49Speaker 1: right now. And inflation.
- 35:52Speaker 2: On the other hand, you know, you look and Lindsey
- 35:54Speaker 2: Graham comes back and one minute he's alive and the
- 35:57Speaker 2: next minute he's dead.
- 35:58Speaker 1: He's not worried about any bit of it anymore, right?
- 36:03Speaker 2: Nope. So, I mean, you know, at what point do
- 36:04Speaker 2: you just say, you know, Quit worrying about all this
- 36:07Speaker 2: stuff and just live your life and what's to be
- 36:09Speaker 2: is to be.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Yep.
- 36:11Speaker 2: 71.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Absolutely. Absolutely right.
- 36:13Speaker 2: All right, Rich.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Thank you. Appreciate it. News Radio 4. You too. You're
- 36:16Speaker 1: on air.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Ronald.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Ted the Conservative.
- 36:21Speaker 3: How are you doing?
- 36:23Speaker 1: I am doing well, Theodore. Thank you for asking. An
- 36:25Speaker 1: interesting discussion with Rich, a pharmacist, and now Ted the Conservative.
- 36:29Speaker 1: You know what I call that, folks? A good day.
- 36:31Speaker 1: A good start to the week.
- 36:33Speaker 3: How about that? I thought I would check in with you.
- 36:36Speaker 3: I wanted to share something with you and then maybe
- 36:39Speaker 3: talk about Lindsey Graham.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Yes.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Also wanted to tell you, you know, last week listening
- 36:43Speaker 3: to the program, you were discussing your career path and
- 36:49Speaker 3: your reduction in hours. And I've got to share my
- 36:53Speaker 3: thoughts to myself. Wow, this sounds like the beginning to
- 36:55Speaker 3: the end. And I don't know if that's right or not,
- 36:59Speaker 3: but that's what I thought last week.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I think it could be.
- 37:03Speaker 2: It could be.
- 37:04Speaker 1: I think it very.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Well could be. So we have to cherish the time
- 37:08Speaker 3: we have with you.
- 37:09Speaker 1: The time we have together. Nothing goes on, you know,
- 37:12Speaker 1: like I say, nothing goes on forever. And so everybody
- 37:18Speaker 1: gets older every day that goes by, right?
- 37:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:21Speaker 3: And you know what? It's sad and it's unfortunate. I
- 37:25Speaker 3: was in the car this morning. I'm not sure what
- 37:27Speaker 3: program is on, 5, 7, 8 o'clock in the morning,
- 37:29Speaker 3: but It's just not the same. These national programming spots
- 37:34Speaker 3: that they fill these voids with, it's just not the same.
- 37:37Speaker 2: It just seems like a bunch of smoke and mirrors,
- 37:40Speaker 2: nothing very..
- 37:41Speaker 1: Well, hold that thought for a second. Hold that thought.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Let me do my headlines.
- 37:44Speaker 5: Youngstown's News, Weather, and Talk Station, 570 WKBN. All right.
- 37:50Speaker 1: All right, Rich. What else?
- 37:53Speaker 2: No, I mean, a young couple, I think about four
- 37:56Speaker 2: weeks ago, buys a house in my neighborhood. I mean,
- 38:00Speaker 2: our neighborhood, we lived here 20 years. It was probably
- 38:02Speaker 2: about a $ 300, 000 neighborhood the vast majority of that time.
- 38:07Speaker 2: This house, very nice house, just sold for $ 765, 000. I mean,
- 38:13Speaker 2: can you imagine being a young couple? I think they're
- 38:15Speaker 2: both probably 30, 31 years old. I think he's a dentist.
- 38:18Speaker 2: She's a teacher. I mean, even if you put 20% down...
- 38:22Speaker 2: you're financing like, what, $ 600? Plus the property taxes, plus
- 38:27Speaker 2: the insurance, plus the utilities?
- 38:29Speaker 3: Yep.
- 38:30Speaker 2: I can't even fathom.
- 38:32Speaker 1: I wouldn't even do it. I would not even participate
- 38:35Speaker 1: in it. Under no circumstances would I do that.
- 38:40Speaker 2: But, I mean, that's not– like I said, every Sunday
- 38:43Speaker 2: the Vindicator publishes property sales. Take a look at it.
- 38:47Speaker 2: It's incredible. I don't know how these poor people are
- 38:49Speaker 2: affording it. It just, I mean, God forbid, one of you,
- 38:54Speaker 2: something happens to one of you and you're not working. Right.
- 38:57Speaker 2: I mean, because you're probably putting it for sale at
- 38:59Speaker 2: that point.
- 39:00Speaker 1: You would have to.
- 39:01Speaker 2: I just, I just, and I don't know how you
- 39:04Speaker 2: fix it. I don't know what we can do to

- 39:22Speaker 1: And then you sit back and you look, this situation
- 39:26Speaker 1: in Iran uh is uh not looking good yeah.
- 39:32Speaker 2: I i think we just need to be we need
- 39:34Speaker 2: to basically get serious with them and just i think we've.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Been serious with them i i counter that by saying
- 39:42Speaker 1: we smacked the living hell out of them I mean,
- 39:45Speaker 1: if you take a look at it, so you can
- 39:48Speaker 1: continue to do some more and see what happens.
- 39:52Speaker 2: He's been threatening bridge and power plant day. Do it.

- 40:55Speaker 1: situation where they said, oh, it's over, and then prices

- 43:03Speaker 1: Well, hold that thought for a second. Hold that thought.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Let me do my headlines. I'll come right back here.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Good morning and welcome.
- 43:08Speaker 3: We are now underway.
- 43:09Speaker 5: We are following the events of the day.
- 43:11Speaker 2: What we're just now hearing about.
- 43:13Speaker 6: This is new information.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Throughout the day.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Good day.
- 43:16Speaker 6: This is where it stands now.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Pick up the conversation.
- 43:19Speaker 3: We'll talk about what's happening anytime.
- 43:21Speaker 5: The deal we reached with Iran.
- 43:23Speaker 4: The devil's in the details.
- 43:24Speaker 6: Bringing the price of gasoline down.
- 43:25Speaker 1: Maintain the Fed funds rate.
- 43:27Speaker 3: Tying Pfizer to the save app.
- 43:28Speaker 1: NATO has been a paper tiger for the very latest.
- 43:32Speaker 1: We'll see how that all plays out.
- 43:34Speaker 3: Radio 570 WKBF.
- 43:39Speaker 7: The American Red Cross is putting the call out for
- 43:41Speaker 7: blood donors after experiencing a significant drop-off in donations recently.
- 43:46Speaker 4: The American Red Cross has deemed an emergency blood shortage
- 43:50Speaker 4: due to the fact that our blood supply across the
- 43:53Speaker 4: nation has diminished by 25% last month.
- 43:56Speaker 7: Ryan Lang with the Red Cross says they mostly need
- 43:59Speaker 7: O negative and O positive. A Canton man made his
- 44:02Speaker 7: first court appearance this morning. 39-year-old Julius Edwards is facing
- 44:05Speaker 7: charges that include attempted murder for last week's stabbing of
- 44:08Speaker 7: his girlfriend. and subsequent police chase into Summit County and
- 44:12Speaker 7: across a popular golf course in Stowe.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, among.
- 44:16Speaker 7: Those offering condolences following the news over the weekend of
- 44:19Speaker 7: the death of South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, DeWine recalled
- 44:22Speaker 7: working with Graham on the Unborn Victims of Violence Act
- 44:25Speaker 7: passed in 2004. I'm Brian Engel.
- 44:28Speaker 5: Listen on the free iHeartRadio app for all your music, news, talk,
- 44:32Speaker 5: and sports radio.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Podcast 2. Download the app.
- 44:36Speaker 4: Free.
- 44:36Speaker 5: Never sounded so good.
- 44:38Speaker 1: A to Z dependable services.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Back to it.
- 44:40Speaker 1: News Radio 570. All right, Theodore.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 44:45Speaker 1: But networks, sir, they have their good and their bad.
- 44:48Speaker 1: Let's put it that way.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, but it's a shame we're losing our top radio.
- 44:53Speaker 2: I think..
- 44:55Speaker 3: I think times change and we all evolve. I'm sure
- 44:59Speaker 3: younger kids today, the last thing they can think about
- 45:01Speaker 3: is putting on talk radio.
- 45:04Speaker 1: I will tell you something when people talk about radio.
- 45:07Speaker 1: I'll educate you on the industry. Radio listening is gigantic.
- 45:12Speaker 1: I'm a radio guy. If you look at trends, I
- 45:16Speaker 1: don't care what age group you are. It doesn't matter
- 45:19Speaker 1: whatever age group you are. Radio listenership is in the 90s,
- 45:25Speaker 1: and there's a reason. It's easy, it's convenient, and it's free,
- 45:29Speaker 1: whether that's music radio or talk radio or whatever. The
- 45:34Speaker 1: listenership is huge. And I'll give you the inside scoop.
- 45:40Speaker 1: Radio advertising is more effective than any other form of advertising.
- 45:45Speaker 1: That's the spoken word. And listenership is huge.
- 45:50Speaker 3: I believe it.
- 45:52Speaker 1: I don't think that'll change any time soon. This idea
- 45:56Speaker 1: that everybody's listening to podcasts and that kind of stuff
- 45:59Speaker 1: is somewhat of a myth, even though a lot of
- 46:05Speaker 1: people listen to the podcast. this program when it's posted
- 46:08Speaker 1: on podcasts because god did i get a lot of
- 46:10Speaker 1: emails from people that were upset it wasn't getting posted
- 46:13Speaker 1: they made up for all of that though they posted
- 46:15Speaker 1: the previous shows and that kind of stuff because we
- 46:17Speaker 1: had some technical problems but It's just interesting. You have
- 46:23Speaker 1: people that have maybe cut the cord on cable on TV,
- 46:26Speaker 1: but they still watch a lot of TV with streaming.
- 46:29Speaker 1: They just get it differently. And that's had a major
- 46:32Speaker 1: effect on local television, just as a side note. Local television,
- 46:35Speaker 1: like when you would get your TV off the cable,
- 46:39Speaker 1: local television got a piece of that fee that you
- 46:42Speaker 1: paid every month to, whether it's Spectre or Armstrong or something.
- 46:46Speaker 1: the outside of the ads that they sold, they got
- 46:48Speaker 1: a big, they got a chunk of, uh, of the
- 46:50Speaker 1: money that you paid as a subscriber to cable. Well,
- 46:53Speaker 1: they lost all of that money because there's so many
- 46:56Speaker 1: people have cut the cord as they say, and they
- 46:58Speaker 1: get it all through streaming as opposed to paying a
- 47:01Speaker 1: cable bill. So local TV is taking a big financial
- 47:04Speaker 1: hit by losing all of that revenue, which is, uh,
- 47:08Speaker 1: which is pretty, you know, streaming.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Uh, I've been watching a program on HBO Max and,
- 47:14Speaker 3: Remember when streaming first came out, they sold it as
- 47:16Speaker 3: no commercials. Yeah. You know, just content, content. Well, now
- 47:21Speaker 3: you watch streaming and it's like this HBO Max. It's
- 47:23Speaker 3: flooded with commercials. It's just crazy how things change. And,
- 47:27Speaker 3: you know, they lure you in with with one hand
- 47:31Speaker 3: and then they pull you back with the other hand.
- 47:32Speaker 3: But that is what it is. I guess the evolution
- 47:35Speaker 3: of the world we live in. Right.
- 47:37Speaker 1: I was listening to someone that was talking about they
- 47:43Speaker 1: would advertise on Facebook, and the guy was talking about
- 47:46Speaker 1: how ineffective it was for him, how it was just
- 47:50Speaker 1: a monumental waste of his ad dollars. I just think
- 47:55Speaker 1: it's interesting, but it's all there. But anyway, with that
- 48:01Speaker 1: being said, what else is on your minds?
- 48:04Speaker 3: So I was asked a question yesterday, and I thought
- 48:06Speaker 3: I'd share it with you and run it up the flagpole.
- 48:09Speaker 3: I don't want to talk about Lindsey Graham, but someone,
- 48:12Speaker 3: I was having a conversation with someone, and they said,
- 48:14Speaker 3: you know, who do you think is the biggest threat
- 48:16Speaker 3: to America, China or Russia? And I told them, well,
- 48:19Speaker 3: in my humble opinion, I don't think neither of the
- 48:21Speaker 3: biggest threats to America. They looked at me like I
- 48:23Speaker 3: was crazy. So who's the biggest threat? I told them Democrats.
- 48:28Speaker 3: Democrats are the biggest threat to the fabric of our country.
- 48:32Speaker 3: And then He looked at me and just pure astonishment.
- 48:35Speaker 3: Couldn't believe I said that. And I'm sure some of
- 48:38Speaker 3: your callers might freak out on me today. But then
- 48:40Speaker 3: what do I wake up to this morning? I read
- 48:42Speaker 3: this article out of Minnesota. And for every Democrat that
- 48:48Speaker 3: opposes ICE, I say you too are the problem with America.
- 48:52Speaker 3: Did you happen to read that article about this guy
- 48:54Speaker 3: that Tim Walz pardoned in Minnesota?
- 48:57Speaker 1: Tell our listeners about it. Tell them.
- 49:00Speaker 3: Raped a 10-year-old child. A 10-year-old child. And these are
- 49:07Speaker 3: the same people that are telling you ICE is bad.
- 49:10Speaker 3: They're trying to stop ICE from being in Minnesota. Well,
- 49:13Speaker 3: Minnesota is like the beehive of the legal immigrants of America.
- 49:16Speaker 3: And all you, I'm going to say it, all you
- 49:19Speaker 3: dumb Democrats out there fighting for these people need your
- 49:22Speaker 3: head examined. This guy raped a 10-year-old kid, girl, not once,
- 49:27Speaker 3: not twice, not three times, not four times, for years,
- 49:31Speaker 3: for two years or so. And you Democrats are fighting
- 49:36Speaker 3: to keep these people in our country. So when I
- 49:38Speaker 3: say the Democrats are the biggest threat to America, the
- 49:42Speaker 3: America you and I grew up in, I never felt
- 49:46Speaker 3: stronger than I did this morning when I read that.
- 49:49Speaker 3: You've got to be out of your mind to oppose
- 49:52Speaker 3: ICE and the propaganda that the far left is selling you,
- 49:57Speaker 3: like these guys are coming into your neighborhood and they're
- 49:59Speaker 3: going to shoot and kill you and your neighbors. Come on, people,
- 50:03Speaker 3: don't be so dumb. You watch all these social media clips.
- 50:07Speaker 3: They only show you what they want you to see.
- 50:09Speaker 3: They don't show you the aggravating or the incitement of
- 50:13Speaker 3: the riots that begin. They just show you ICE defending
- 50:16Speaker 3: themselves or ICE taking action after the incident happened.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Here's the story. A 42-year-old illegal immigrant convicted of repeatedly
- 50:27Speaker 1: raping a child was awarded a pardon... by Governor Tim Walz,
- 50:33Speaker 1: tampon Tim, Board of Pardons, after the state's clemency commission
- 50:37Speaker 1: recommended it be granted to him due to immigration concerns.
- 50:42Speaker 1: What the hell does that mean? Minnesota Clemency Review Commission,
- 50:46Speaker 1: which voted 4-2 to grant a pardon, let's see, following
- 50:51Speaker 1: his conviction for criminal sexual conduct, this guy admitted to
- 50:56Speaker 1: repeatedly raping a girl over a multi-year period beginning when
- 51:00Speaker 1: she was 10 years old. Well, the two board members
- 51:03Speaker 1: who voted against granting a pardon noted the serious nature
- 51:06Speaker 1: of his offenses. Four members recommending a pardon, each listed
- 51:11Speaker 1: concerns about him being deported. One commissioner who voted in
- 51:16Speaker 1: favor of granting a pardon wrote in his recommendation, very
- 51:19Speaker 1: tough cases, but the kids not having a father is
- 51:26Speaker 1: not in the best interest of society. Referring to the
- 51:29Speaker 1: rapist's six children.
- 51:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 51:33Speaker 3: And what are the chances those kids were not born
- 51:35Speaker 3: out of rape? I mean, these people, Ron, they are
- 51:40Speaker 3: mentally damaged and there's no repair. So when I say
- 51:45Speaker 3: Democrats are the biggest threat to America, I never feel
- 51:49Speaker 3: stronger about that. You have got to be out of
- 51:51Speaker 3: your mind to oppose ICE. You know, when that woman
- 51:54Speaker 3: was shot in... in minnesota and killed i remember all
- 51:58Speaker 3: the dummies getting on the radio and saying oh how
- 52:01Speaker 3: horrible was this she wasn't doing anything and then you
- 52:04Speaker 3: give it 20 minutes 30 minutes give it an hour
- 52:06Speaker 3: and you see all the whole video come out and
- 52:09Speaker 3: you hear how how she's been behaving for days and
- 52:12Speaker 3: then they say well they didn't need to shoot and
- 52:14Speaker 3: kill her you know what ron this may sound harsh
- 52:17Speaker 3: but That's the only way you deal with people like that.
- 52:20Speaker 2: Just get rid of them.
- 52:21Speaker 3: Just like we're doing with these illegals.
- 52:22Speaker 1: Get them out of the country. Governor Tim Walz's decision
- 52:27Speaker 1: to pardon an illegal alien convicted of child rapist so
- 52:30Speaker 1: he can remain in our country is disgusting. These are criminals,
- 52:35Speaker 1: illegal aliens he and his Minnesota sanctuary politicians are protecting.
- 52:39Speaker 1: This guy entered the U.S. through California in 1994 and
- 52:42Speaker 1: was granted legal status by the Clinton administration between 2002
- 52:46Speaker 1: and 2004 when Vang, is his name, was between 18
- 52:50Speaker 1: and 20 years old. He had sexual intercourse with the
- 52:53Speaker 1: victim four to six times. The abuse took place at St. Paul, Minnesota,
- 52:58Speaker 1: and the first rape took place when the victim was
- 53:02Speaker 1: in fourth grade. Unbelievable.
- 53:05Speaker 3: But yet these dummies will say, you know, they'll get on...
- 53:08Speaker 3: They'll get on their soapbox and scream about how bad
- 53:11Speaker 3: ice is and how horrible it is. I mean, there's just, Ron,
- 53:15Speaker 3: we're living in a country that has two different universes.
- 53:22Speaker 3: The universe with common sense who can think for themselves
- 53:26Speaker 3: and the universe that has been programmed to just do
- 53:29Speaker 3: whatever they're told to do. It's scary. It's really scary
- 53:33Speaker 3: how anybody could support this stuff. And it's these far-left states,
- 53:37Speaker 3: you know, these quote-unquote progressive states that are leading the way.
- 53:42Speaker 3: You're seeing it, you know, I don't have to name
- 53:43Speaker 3: the states. You know where they're at. It's just, it's scary.
- 53:47Speaker 3: It's really scary.
- 53:50Speaker 1: This guy served eight months at the county correctional workhouse.
- 53:54Speaker 1: He was discharged for probation early for raping a child.
- 54:01Speaker 3: A young child. I mean, I'm sorry, Rahm. People like that,
- 54:06Speaker 3: they need to be hung on the town square to
- 54:09Speaker 3: be made an example. They need to be put on
- 54:13Speaker 3: the firing line and... and broadcast that so people see
- 54:18Speaker 3: there are consequences.
- 54:20Speaker 1: Well, this Vang told police..
- 54:22Speaker 3: But if you're a Democrat, I guess that's okay.
- 54:24Speaker 2: You support that stuff.
- 54:25Speaker 3: The Democrats think that's okay and that ICE shouldn't be
- 54:27Speaker 3: in Minnesota, right?
- 54:29Speaker 1: Vang told police, I made a mistake, but this is
- 54:32Speaker 1: a minor thing. It is a cultural thing in Thailand
- 54:35Speaker 1: to marry and have sex with girls as young as 12.
- 54:39Speaker 1: But he's not in Thailand.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:43Speaker 3: This is America. If you cannot assimilate to our laws
- 54:47Speaker 3: and our way of life, get the.
- 54:48Speaker 1: Hell out of here. I didn't ask for you to come.
- 54:52Speaker 1: Vang stated that the child should be arrested also because
- 54:55Speaker 1: she was as much at fault.
- 54:57Speaker 2: Yeah, 10-year-old child.
- 54:58Speaker 3: It's her fault she got raped, huh? That's a typical
- 55:02Speaker 3: thing Democrats say, though, isn't it? You know, just like
- 55:04Speaker 3: this goofy platner up in Maine that the Democrats were
- 55:10Speaker 3: dripping from the mouth supporting him. You know, the first
- 55:13Speaker 3: victim that came out was a Republican. So obviously they
- 55:16Speaker 3: didn't believe her. They said, oh, this can't be true.
- 55:19Speaker 3: This is bull crap. You know, and if it did happen,
- 55:22Speaker 3: she probably deserved it and she probably asked for it, blah, blah, blah.
- 55:27Speaker 3: And then it just snowballs one after the other after
- 55:30Speaker 3: the other comes out. And you realize the guy's a
- 55:33Speaker 3: serial rapist who the Democrats are propping up on a
- 55:36Speaker 3: stool like he's the next great thing in America.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:41Speaker 3: And it wasn't until a Democrat came forward and said, yeah,
- 55:44Speaker 3: he raped me, too, that they said, oh, we can't
- 55:46Speaker 3: have that. Can't have that. I'm telling you, Ron, we've
- 55:50Speaker 3: said it a hundred times. There was someone a lot
- 55:52Speaker 3: more famous than you and I that said it. Liberalism
- 55:55Speaker 3: is a brain disorder. It's a brain disease. And the
- 55:59Speaker 3: funny thing is, you know, people like you and I,
- 56:03Speaker 3: we were raised as moderate Democrats. You know, we grew
- 56:06Speaker 3: up in a different time and we saw the light.
- 56:10Speaker 3: And we changed, not only has the world changed, but
- 56:15Speaker 3: we went so far as to change political affiliation many, many, many,
- 56:19Speaker 3: many years ago. We didn't need to see 10-year-olds getting
- 56:23Speaker 3: raped by illegal aliens to realize that this Democrat Party
- 56:26Speaker 3: was losing their minds.
- 56:28Speaker 1: The fact that anybody would, the actions that were taken
- 56:32Speaker 1: in any part of the United States with this guy
- 56:35Speaker 1: is amazing to me. It's just unbelievable to me.
- 56:39Speaker 3: If you oppose ICE, you need your brain examined.
- 56:42Speaker 1: And if you.
- 56:44Speaker 3: Didn't gripe when Joe Biden was in office, then maybe
- 56:47Speaker 3: we should deport some of these people, too.
- 56:50Speaker 1: I would say in a specific situation, everybody on that
- 56:54Speaker 1: parole board or everybody involved in that decision should really
- 56:58Speaker 1: get a mental test. Because it's just, it's unreal.
- 57:02Speaker 3: I'm going to say it again. You've got to be
- 57:04Speaker 3: nuts to vote for a Democrat today.
- 57:06Speaker 1: There he is.
- 57:06Speaker 3: And yeah, I don't care if he's your local county commissioner,
- 57:09Speaker 3: your local mayor, your local prosecutor. Guess what? When that
- 57:13Speaker 3: person you think is a nice guy and smiles and
- 57:15Speaker 3: shakes your hand and talks to you, when they get
- 57:17Speaker 3: in that voting booth, they vote for Joe Biden. They
- 57:21Speaker 3: vote for the Kamala Harris. They vote for the Tim Walton.
- 57:24Speaker 3: They vote for the Comrade Mom Dommies of America. But
- 57:28Speaker 3: you really need your head examined if you vote for
- 57:31Speaker 3: a Democrat.
- 57:32Speaker 1: There he is.
- 57:32Speaker 3: If you find that harsh, I don't apologize.
- 57:35Speaker 1: There he is, taking a stand.
- 57:37Speaker 3: I'll leave it at that, buddy, because I'm getting upset.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Thank you, Ted the Conservative. Thank you, Ted. Ted the
- 57:42Speaker 1: Conservative on NewsRadio 570, WKBN 347. In the afternoon, you're
- 57:46Speaker 1: on the air.
- 57:48Speaker 2: Hello, Ron. How are you doing today?
- 57:50Speaker 1: Good, thank you. Go ahead.
- 57:51Speaker 2: I got an article from Wall Street Journal today.
- 57:54Speaker 1: Yes.
- 57:54Speaker 2: It's going to affect all of us in the very
- 57:56Speaker 2: near future. The headlines. Frequent oil draws from the U.S.
- 58:01Speaker 2: Strategic Reserve push old systems to breaking point. Fracturing wells,
- 58:06Speaker 2: leaky pumps, wear and tear are straining the Gulf Coast
- 58:11Speaker 2: salt caverns that make up the reserve. It's going to
- 58:15Speaker 2: cause fuel shortages pretty soon, I believe.
- 58:21Speaker 1: So you say because of drawing down on the Strategic
- 58:23Speaker 1: Oil Reserve to keep gas prices down that we're in
- 58:26Speaker 1: a tough spot now, right?
- 58:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it's depleting it rapidly, according to Wall Street Journal.
- 58:33Speaker 2: The U.S. is tapping its national stock of crude with abandon.
- 58:36Speaker 2: Withdrawals are taking a toil on the strategic reserve system.
- 58:41Speaker 2: There's 60 Gulf Coast salt caverns. Make up the stocks.
- 58:45Speaker 2: It can't be drawn down from or refilled at the
- 58:48Speaker 2: rate at which they were designed. Wow. And there's a
- 58:53Speaker 2: giant gas station. Travel Center, Bucky's.
- 58:58Speaker 1: Yes.
- 58:59Speaker 2: It's in Melissa, Texas. 50 square foot, 50,000 square foot building.
- 59:04Speaker 2: 100 fuel pumps. Last week, they only had 60 working.
- 59:08Speaker 2: 40 were shut down. for fuel.
- 59:12Speaker 1: They didn't have fuel or the pumps were broke?
- 59:15Speaker 2: I think they didn't have fuel. I think you're going
- 59:18Speaker 2: to start seeing fuel shortages here in the very near future.
- 59:21Speaker 2: They're drawing down on their oil reserves rapidly.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Well, this is a mess. I mean, I was saying
- 59:28Speaker 1: earlier to Rich, this is a disaster. Trump, and let's
- 59:32Speaker 1: be realistic, you've got to call him as you see him.
- 59:34Speaker 1: The mess that Trump put this country in, As far
- 59:38Speaker 1: as this Iran war, it was a gigantic mistake when
- 59:41Speaker 1: he got involved in this. I don't know why he
- 59:44Speaker 1: reversed himself about getting involved in these endless wars in
- 59:47Speaker 1: the Middle East. He did a 180. He reversed himself
- 59:51Speaker 1: both on Epstein and this particular situation, both of which
- 59:55Speaker 1: I find very troubling. And he got us in a
- 59:57Speaker 1: mess that we're certainly not getting out of it, and
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: it's just continuing to drag on. And I mean, so
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: you got people say the only answer is you got
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: to do bomb them more, bomb them more. I mean,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: we bombed them a lot. We bombed them to the
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: point where they're concerned about the shortage of our artillery.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: You follow me there? We bombed them so much that
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: they're saying, well, wait a minute. With all the weapons
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: that we sold to Ukraine and gave to Ukraine and
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: with all of this stuff that we just did there,
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: we're at a kind of a critically low level there.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: And now now we're right back to the bombing campaign. Well,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: what makes you think it's going to work better this time?
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: I agree.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: I mean, you know, what do they say? Insanity's doing
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: the same thing again and expecting a different result? I mean,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: I thought we bombed them really, really good last time.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: I mean, it's not prepared to be effective. They keep
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: standing against us. Yeah.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: I mean, you take a look at it, and it's like, so...
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: I mean, we're right back to where we were, what,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: not that long ago. We're right back to it. And
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: the gas prices are right back to $ 4 a gallon.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: And Saudi Arabia attacked the Houthis, which are Iran's terror
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: group in Yemen. And Yemen's Houthis are getting ready to retaliate.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: And they say they're going to block the Bab el-Mangab Strait,
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: which is even narrower than the Strait of Hormuz. It's
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: where the Red Sea comes into the Indian Ocean. It
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: goes up to the Suez Canal.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: I mean, this whole situation is Trump's fault. Stand by
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: for a minute. I'll come back to him and more
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: of your calls ahead. Back to it. News Radio 570.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: All right, Theodore.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: But networks, they have their good and their bad. Let's
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: put it that way.
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's a shame we're losing our top radio.
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: I think... I think times change and we all evolve.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: I'm sure younger kids today, the last thing they can
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: think about is putting on top radio.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: I will tell you something when people talk about radio.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: I'll educate you on the industry. Radio listening is gigantic.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: I mean, if you actually look at trends, I don't
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: care what age group you are. It doesn't matter whatever
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: age group you are. Radio listenership is in the 90s.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: And there's a reason. It's easy, it's convenient, and it's free.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Whether that's music radio or talk radio or whatever, the
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: listenership is huge. And I'll give you the inside scoop.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: Radio advertising is more effective than any other form of advertising.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: That's the spoken word. And listenership is huge.
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: I believe it.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: I don't think that'll change any time soon. This idea
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: that everybody's listening to podcasts and that kind of stuff
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: is somewhat of a myth. even though a lot of
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: people listen to this program when it's posted on podcasts because, God,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: did I get a lot of emails from people that
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: were upset it wasn't getting posted. They made up for
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: all of that, though. They posted the previous shows and
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: that kind of stuff because we had some technical problems.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: But it's just interesting. You have people that have maybe
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: cut the cord on cable on TV, but they still
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: watch a lot of TV with streaming. They just get
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: it differently. And that's had a major effect on local television,
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: just as a side note. Local television, like when you
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: would get your TV off the cable, local television got
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: a piece of that fee that you paid every month to,
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: whether it's Spectrum or Armstrong or something, outside of the
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: ads that they sold, they got a chunk of... of
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: the money that you paid as a subscriber to cable. Well,
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: they lost all of that money because so many people
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: have cut the cord, as they say, and they get
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: it all through streaming as opposed to paying a cable bill.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: So local TV's taking a big financial hit by losing
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: all of that revenue, which is pretty substantial.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: You know, it's funny, too, you mentioned streaming. I've been
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: watching a program on HBO Max, and remember when streaming
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: first came out, they sold it as no commercials.
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: You know, just content, content. Well, now... You watch streaming,
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: and it's like this HBO Max. It's flooded with commercials.
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: It's just crazy how things change. And, you know, they
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: lure you in with one hand, and then they pull
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: you back with the other hand. But that is what
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: it is, I guess, the evolution of the world we
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: live in, right?
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: I was listening to someone that was talking about they
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: would advertise on Facebook, and the guy was talking about
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: how ineffective it was for him, how it was just
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: a monumental waste of his ad dollars. I just think
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: it's interesting, but it's all there. But anyway, with that
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: being said, what else is on your mind?
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: So I was asked a question yesterday, and I thought
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: I'd share it with you and run it up the flagpole.
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: See if anybody salutes.
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: I also want to talk about Lindsey Graham.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: Someone, I was having a conversation with someone, and they said,
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: you know, who do you think is the bigger threat
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: to America, China or Russia? And I told them, well,
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: in my humble opinion, I don't think neither are the
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: biggest threat to America. They looked at me like I
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: was crazy.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: So who's the biggest threat?
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: I told them Democrats. Democrats are the biggest threat to
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: the fabric of our country.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: And then..
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: He looked at me and just pure astonishment. Couldn't believe
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: I said that. And I'm sure some of your callers
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: might freak out on today, but then what do I
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: wake up to this morning? I read this article out of,
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: out of Minnesota. And for every Democrat that opposes ice,
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: I say you two are the problem with America. Did
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: you happen to read that article about this guy that
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: Tim waltz pardoned in Minnesota?
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: Tell our listeners about it. Tell them.
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: A 10 year old child raped, A 10-year-old child. And
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: these are the same people that are telling you ICE
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: is bad. They're trying to stop ICE from being in Minnesota. Well,
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: Minnesota is like the beehive of the legal immigrants of America.
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: And all you, I'm going to say it, all you
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: dumb Democrats out there fighting for these people need your
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: head examined. This guy raped a 10-year-old kid. Girl, not once,
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: not twice, not three times, not four times, for years.
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: For two years or so. And you Democrats are fighting
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: to keep these people in our country. So when I
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: say the Democrats are the biggest threat to America, the
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: America you and I grew up in, I never felt
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: stronger than I did this morning when I read that.
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: You've got to be out of your mind to oppose
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: ICE and the propaganda that the far left is selling you,
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: like these guys are coming into your neighborhood and they're
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: going to shoot and kill you and your neighbors. Come on, people,
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: don't be so dumb. You watch all these social media clips.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: They only show you what they want you to see.
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: They don't show you the aggravating or the incitement of
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: the riots that begin. They just show you ICE defending
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: themselves or ICE taking action after the incident happened.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Here's the story. A 42-year-old illegal immigrant convicted of repeatedly
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: raping a child was awarded a pardon... by Governor Tim Walz,
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: tampon Tim, Board of Pardons, after the state's Clemency Commission
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: recommended it be granted to him due to immigration concerns.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: What the hell does that mean? Minnesota Clemency Review Commission,
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: which voted 4-2 to grant a pardon, let's see, following
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: his conviction for criminal sexual conduct, this guy admitted to
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: repeatedly raping a girl over a multi-year period beginning when
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: she was 10 years old. Referring to the rapist's six children.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: And what are the chances those kids were not born
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: out of rape? I mean, these people, Ron, they are
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: mentally damaged and there's no repair. so when i say
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: democrats are the biggest threat to america i never feel
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: stronger about that you have got to be out of
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: your mind to oppose ice you know when that woman
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: was shot in uh in minnesota and killed i remember
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: all the dummies getting on the radio and saying oh
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: how horrible was this she wasn't doing anything and then
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: you give it 20 minutes 30 minutes give it an
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: hour and you see all the whole video come out
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: and you hear how how she's been behaving for days
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: and then they say well they didn't need to shoot
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: and kill her you know what ron this may sound
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: harsh but That's the only way you deal with people
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: like that. Just get rid of them. Just like we're
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: doing with these illegals.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: Get them out of the country. Governor Tim Walz's decision
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: to pardon an illegal alien convicted of child rapist so
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: he can remain in our country is disgusting. These are criminals,
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: illegal aliens he and his Minnesota sanctuary politicians are protecting.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: This guy entered the U.S. through California in 1994 and
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: was granted legal status by the Clinton administration between 2002
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: and 2004. when Vang is his name, was between 18
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: and 20 years old. He had sexual intercourse with the
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: victim four to six times. The abuse took place at St. Paul, Minnesota,
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: and the first rape took place when the victim was
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: in fourth grade. Unbelievable.
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: But yet these dummies will say, you know, they'll get
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: on their soapbox and scream about how bad ICE is
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: and how horrible it is. I mean, there's just, Ron,
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: we're living in a country that has two different universes.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: The universe with common sense, who can think for themselves,
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: and the universe that has been programmed to just do
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: whatever they're told to do. It's scary. It's really scary.
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: Anybody could support this stuff. And it's these far-left states,
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: you know, these quote-unquote progressive states that are leading the way.
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: You're seeing it, you know, I don't have to name
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: the states. You know where they're at. Um, it's just,
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: it's scary. It's really scary.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: This guy, this guy served eight months at the county
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: correctional workhouse or a workhouse. He was discharged for probation
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: early for raping a child, a young child.
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: I mean, I, I, I'm sorry, Rama, people like that.
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: They need to be hung on the town square to
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: be made an example. They need to be put on
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: the firing line and, and, and broadcast that so people
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: see there are consequences.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: Well, this Vang told police..
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: But if you're a Democrat, I guess that's okay.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: You support that stuff.
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: The Democrats think that's okay and that ICE shouldn't be
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: in Minnesota, right?
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: Vang told police, I made a mistake, but this is
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: a minor thing. It is a cultural thing in Thailand
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: to marry and have sex with girls as young as 12.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: But he's not in Thailand.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: This is America. If you cannot assimilate to our laws
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: and our way of life, get the hell out of here.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: We didn't ask for you to come. Vang stated that
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: the child should be arrested also because she was as
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: much at fault.
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: Yeah, 10-year-old child. It's her fault she got raped, huh?
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: That's a typical thing Democrats say, though, isn't it? You know,
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: just like this goofy platner up in Maine that the
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: Democrats were dripping from the mouth supporting him. You know,
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: the first victim that came out was a Republican. So
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: obviously they didn't believe her. They said, oh, this can't
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: be true. This is bull crap, you know. And if
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: it did happen, she probably deserved it and she probably
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: asked for it, blah, blah, blah. And then it just
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: snowballs one after the other after the other comes out.
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: And you realize the guy's a serial rapist who the
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: Democrats are prompting up on a stool like he's the
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: next great thing in America.
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: And it wasn't until a Democrat came forward and said, yeah,
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: he raped me, too, that they said, oh, we can't
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: have that. Can't have that. I'm telling you, Ron, we've
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: said it a hundred times. There was someone a lot
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: more famous than you and I that said it. Liberalism
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: is a brain disorder. It's a brain disease. And the
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: funny thing is, you know, people like you and I,
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: we were raised as moderate Democrats. You know, we grew
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: up in a different time. And We saw the light,
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: and we changed not only as the world changed, but
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: we went so far as to change political affiliation many, many, many,
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: many years ago.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: We didn't need.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: To see 10-year-olds getting raped by illegal aliens to realize
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: that this Democrat Party was losing their minds.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: The fact that anybody would, the actions that were taken
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: in any part of the United States with this guy
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: is amazing to me. It's just unbelievable to me. The
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: whole story.
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: You need your brain examined. And if you didn't gripe
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: when Joe Biden was in office, then maybe we should
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: deport some of these people, too.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: I would say in a specific situation, everybody on that
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: parole board or everybody involved in that decision should really
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: get a mental test because it's just unreal.
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: I'm going to say it again. You've got to be
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: nuts to vote for a Democrat today. And yeah, I
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: don't care if he's your local county commissioner, your local mayor,
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: your local prosecutor. Guess what? When that person you think
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: is a nice guy and smiles and shakes your hand
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: and talks to you, when they get in that voting booth,
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: they vote for Joe Biden. They vote for the Kamala Harris.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: They vote for the Tim Walton. They vote for the
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: Comrade Mom Dommies of America. But you really need your
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: head examined if you vote for a Democrat. If you
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: find that harsh, I don't apologize.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: There he is, taking a stand.
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: I'll leave it at that, buddy, because I'm getting upset.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: Thank you, Ted the Conservative. Thank you, Ted. Ted the
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: Conservative on News Radio 570 WKBN 347. In the afternoon,
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: you're on the air.
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: Hello, Ron. How are you doing today? Good.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: Thank you. Go ahead.
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: I got an article from Wall Street Journal today.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: It's going to affect all of us in the very
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: near future. The headline, frequent oil draws from the U.S.
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: Strategic Reserve push old system to breaking point. Fracturing wells,
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: leaky pumps, wear and tear are straining the Gulf Coast
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: salt caverns that make up the reserve. It's going to
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: cause fuel shortages pretty soon, I believe.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: So you say because of drawing down on a strategic
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: oil reserve to keep gas prices down that we're in
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: a tough spot now, right?
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it's depleting it rapidly, according to Wall Street Journal.
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: The U.S.
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: Is tapping its national stock of crude with abandon. Withdrawals
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: are taking a toil on the strategic reserve system. The
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: 60 Gulf Coast salt caverns make up the stocks. They
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: can't be drawn down from or refilled at the rate
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: at which they were designed. Wow. And there's a giant
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: gas station. Travel Center, Bucky's.
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: It's in Melissa, Texas. 50 square foot, 50,000 square foot building.
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: 100 fuel pumps. Last week, they only had 60 working.
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: 40 were shut down for fuel.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: They didn't have fuel or the pumps were broke?
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: I think they didn't have fuel. I think you're going
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: to start seeing fuel shortages in the very near future.
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: They're drawing down on their oil reserves rapidly.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: Well, this is a mess. I mean, I was saying
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: earlier to Rich, this is a disaster. Trump, and let's
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: be realistic, you got to call him as you see him.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: The mess that Trump put this country in. As far
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: as this Iran war, it was a gigantic mistake when
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: he got involved in this. I don't know why he
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: reversed himself about getting involved in these endless wars in
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: the Middle East. He did a 180. He reversed himself
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: both on Epstein and this particular situation, both of which
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: I find very troubling. And he got us in a
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: mess that is... We're certainly not getting out of it,
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: and it's just continuing to drag on. And, I mean,
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: so you've got people saying the only answer is you've
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: got to bomb them more, bomb them more. I mean,
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: we bombed them a lot. We bombed them to the
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: point where they're concerned about the shortage of our artillery.
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: You follow me? We bombed them so much that they're saying, well,
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: wait a minute. with all the weapons that we sold
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: to Ukraine and gave to Ukraine and with all of
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: this stuff that we just did there, we're at a
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: kind of a critically low level there. And now, now
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: we're right back to the bombing campaign. Well, what makes
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: you think it's going to work better this time?
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: I agree.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: I mean, you know, what do they say? Insanity is
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: doing the same thing again and expecting a different result.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: I mean, I thought, I thought we bombed them really,
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: really good last time.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: And so I mean, not prepared to be effective. They
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: keep standing against us. Yeah.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: I mean, you take a look at it, and it's like, so,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: I mean, we're right back to where we were, what,
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: not that long ago. We're right back to it. And
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: the gas prices are right back to $ 4 a gallon.
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: And Saudi Arabia attacked the Houthis, which are Iran's terror
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: group in Yemen. And Yemen's Houthis are getting ready to retaliate,
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: and they say they're going to block the Bab el-Mangab Strait,
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: which is even narrower than the Strait of Hormuz. It's
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: where the Red Sea comes in. into the Indian Ocean.
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: It goes up to the Suez Canal.
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: I mean, this whole situation is Trump's fault. And I
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: stand by for a minute. I'll come back to him,
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: and more of your calls ahead.
- 1:19:06Speaker 6: Your one stop for advertising?
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: Call 844-844-IHEART.
- 1:19:10Speaker 6: Saturday mornings at 6, listen to 570 WKBN for Retirement
- 1:19:14Speaker 6: Wealth Planning with your host, Dave Mortosh, and learn how
- 1:19:17Speaker 6: to protect your principal, lock in your gains, avoid probate,
- 1:19:20Speaker 6: and generate income you can't outlive.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: That's Saturday mornings at 6 on 570 WKBN.
- 1:19:26Speaker 5: News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: I just think we're in a mess with this situation.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: And though I voted for Trump and I'd vote for
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: him again over Biden, no question about it, or Harris.
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: But he got this country into a mess. And I
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: think he was duped into this by Israel and Netanyahu.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: I don't know why he did a reversal of himself.
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: It's just a mess, and it's not going away anytime soon.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: They're not giving him unconditional surrender. They're not doing much as...
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: They're not agreeing to any of this stuff. And we
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: bombed a living hell out of them already. Now what?
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: We're going to bomb them some more? Now what else
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: do you want to bomb? What do you want to
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: bomb next? You want to bomb their water desalination plants?
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: I mean, where do you want to go next with
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: all of this kind of stuff?
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: That's a war crime if you do something like that.
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: I mean, it's just he got us into a mess.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: And it's like I don't know what his thinking was
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: or what Netanyahu sold him on that they would give you.
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: Remember when he said, nothing but unconditional surrender will do.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: Then all of a sudden, we're kind of back to
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: the Obama agreements. Oh, yeah, we'll give you this. We'll
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: give you that. You do this. You do that. And
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. Kind of back to an agreement
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: where they actually somewhat would argue were better off than
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: they got under that original deal under Obama.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Not as straight of our moods. It's pretty much closed again. Right.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: trafficking going in and out like it normally does. It's
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: going to cause major world problems, no doubt about it.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: Huge with chemicals and not just fertilizer, but chemicals for
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: other products, as well as oil, as well as prices
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: going up and inflation coming back, all because of the
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: decision that he made with Netanyahu.
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: We're heading into serious times, I believe, but I thought
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: I'd share that article with Wall Street Journal today.
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: So basically the Wall Street Journal is saying we've tapped
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: our strategic oil reserves. What?
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: Dangerous levels. Low levels.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: And basically, what do they ask the question? What do
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: we do now?
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: Frequent oil drawdowns from U.S. strategic reserves. There are 60
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: salt capers on the Gulf Coast. They're all being drained
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: for really bad low levels, according to this article.
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: So it just can't go on forever. They keep doing it.
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so where do you go after that is what
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: they're saying.
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: Yeah, right.
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: Wall Street. Hey, thanks.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: Keep me posted. I appreciate it. You guys are a
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: well-read guy. And it's something to be concerned about. I mean,
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: at one point, gas was down like $ 3. 33 or something.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: Remember when he had it down at $ 2. 50 or whatever? Now,
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: all of a sudden, in a lot of these stations,
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: it's back up to $ 4 a gallon. And now we're
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: right back to this situation. 87 degrees. Welcome to Monday,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: July 13th. Ron Verb from the Kingdom of Mahoning. Always
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: glad you tuned in. Rockport Wealth Truth and Investing Show.
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: I just think we're in a mess with this situation.
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: And though I voted for Trump and I'd vote for
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: him again over Biden, no question about it, or Harris.
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: But he got this country into a mess. And I
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: think he was duped into this by Israel and Netanyahu.
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: I don't know why he did a reversal of himself.
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: And..
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: I just, it's just a mess and, and it's not
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: going away anytime soon. They're not giving him an unconditional surrender.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: They're not doing, they're not doing much as, uh, they're not, uh,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: they're not agreeing to any of this, any of this stuff.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: And we bombed a living hell out of them already.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: Now what we're going to bomb them some more. Now,
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: what else do you want to bomb? You want to buy?
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: What do you want to bomb next? Uh, You want
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: to bomb their water desalination plants? I mean, where do
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: you want to go next with all of this kind
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: of stuff?
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: That's a war crime if you do something like that.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: I mean, it's just he got us into a mess.
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: And and it's like, I don't know what his thinking
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: was or what Netanyahu sold him on that they would
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: give you. Remember when he said nothing but unconditional surrender
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: will do that all of a sudden we're kind of
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: back to the Obama agreements. Oh, yeah, we'll give you this.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: We'll give you that. You do this. You do that.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: And that kind of stuff kind of back to an
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: agreement where they actually somewhat would argue we're better off
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: than they got into that original deal under Obama.
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: Not as straight of our moods. It's pretty much closed again. Right.
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: Traffic ain't going in and out like it normally does. Right.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: It's going to cause major world problems. No doubt about it.
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: Huge with chemicals and not just fertilizer, but chemicals for
