- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on your Uh huh, I sure will. Good morning everybody,
- 0:09Speaker 1: y'all listening to the voice, Come on dig me now,
- 0:12Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey, Uh huh got a radio show. Yeah, man,
- 0:16Speaker 1: what a blessing it is. I can't even explain my
- 0:18Speaker 1: whole life. My whole life is a blessing. It really is,
- 0:21Speaker 1: in spite of all the things that's happened. Contraa to
- 0:24Speaker 1: having the appearances of a blessing. As I look back
- 0:27Speaker 1: on my life today, it all happened for a reason.
- 0:30Speaker 1: It all came together, it tied together, and you know
- 0:34Speaker 1: it's important. Man. I think a lot of people that
- 0:36Speaker 1: asked me about my success and how I got here
- 0:39Speaker 1: and how do I attribute in what was the steps?
- 0:42Speaker 1: I want to tell you what it is. Now. Listen
- 0:44Speaker 1: to me before I get started. Please understand that everything
- 0:47Speaker 1: that I tell you is faith based. Everything that I
- 0:50Speaker 1: tell you is faith based. You can double check it.
- 0:52Speaker 1: You can go behind me. Whatever your faith is. If
- 0:55Speaker 1: you go back into the writings and your faith, it's
- 0:57Speaker 1: in there. It's in there. Now. I'm not telling you
- 1:00Speaker 1: anything new. I'm not giving you a new angle. I
- 1:02Speaker 1: may give you a different way of saying it. You know,
- 1:04Speaker 1: maybe hearing it back to yourself, but in essence, man,
- 1:07Speaker 1: I really do know that I'm not going to say
- 1:09Speaker 1: anything that you may not have heard, but I phrased
- 1:12Speaker 1: it in a different kind of way. And so this
- 1:15Speaker 1: series this week, I want to talk to you about
- 1:17Speaker 1: how to make it kind of a motivational series. And
- 1:21Speaker 1: the first part, the most important component of it in
- 1:24Speaker 1: accomplishing what you want in your life is you have
- 1:27Speaker 1: to identify the dream. This is the critical step. A
- 1:33Speaker 1: lot of people spend their life squandering and wandering around
- 1:36Speaker 1: because they never identify the dream. You have to identify
- 1:40Speaker 1: the dream. You have to identify what it is that
- 1:44Speaker 1: you want, what it is that you hope for. You
- 1:47Speaker 1: have to have a goal in mind. You have to
- 1:50Speaker 1: have a destination. You know, when you go outside and
- 1:52Speaker 1: put the key in your car. You never go and
- 1:55Speaker 1: put your key in the car and just get in
- 1:56Speaker 1: in and just drive, you know, unless you're trying to
- 1:59Speaker 1: clear your head. But if you talk about going somewhere,
- 2:02Speaker 1: you got to have a destination. You got to have
- 2:05Speaker 1: somewhere you want to go, or else you're just running around,
- 2:08Speaker 1: you burning gas. Where you're going now? I don't know?
- 2:10Speaker 1: Left here right? Here, go here, go there. You know
- 2:13Speaker 1: you must identify the dream. The dream is the single
- 2:17Speaker 1: most important part of the component to making the success
- 2:20Speaker 1: out yourself. God can't bless what you don't have. You
- 2:23Speaker 1: can't get what you never give. Identify the dream. What
- 2:27Speaker 1: is it that burns inside you so it keeps you
- 2:29Speaker 1: awake at night? What is it, man that makes you
- 2:32Speaker 1: smile when you think about it? What is it, man
- 2:35Speaker 1: that you can't seem to quite shape? Okay, so you
- 2:38Speaker 1: go to college, right, you make a decision, which I
- 2:41Speaker 1: disagree with you asking eighteen to a twenty one year
- 2:43Speaker 1: old to make a decision or what he wants to
- 2:45Speaker 1: do and what he wants to be with the rest
- 2:46Speaker 1: of his life. That's tough because guess what, this young
- 2:49Speaker 1: person doesn't really know himself or herself yet. So you're
- 2:53Speaker 1: asking them to identify what it is at an early age.
- 2:57Speaker 1: What consequentially happens is that people get older and they
- 3:00Speaker 1: wind up doing something else, and you get a degree
- 3:03Speaker 1: and you find out what your passion is with something else. See,
- 3:06Speaker 1: identifying that dream as early as you can is important. Now,
- 3:10Speaker 1: whether you're younger, whether you're whatever, your whatever, your identity
- 3:13Speaker 1: of the dream is that's first. Now, what you have
- 3:17Speaker 1: to do then is if I were you. Here is
- 3:20Speaker 1: the part that people never seem to weld together with
- 3:24Speaker 1: that dream that I want to be an astronaut, I
- 3:26Speaker 1: want to be a doctor, I want to be a
- 3:27Speaker 1: club on, I want to be a a DJ, I
- 3:31Speaker 1: want to be a ball player, I want to be
- 3:33Speaker 1: a writer, I want to be a whatever it is,
- 3:35Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. Somebody is that already, and somebody had
- 3:39Speaker 1: it as a dream, So it's no dream too big. Okay,
- 3:42Speaker 1: Once you identify the dream, here's the thing. The best
- 3:45Speaker 1: way for that to happen is that dream should be
- 3:48Speaker 1: tied directly to your God given gift or talent. See
- 3:53Speaker 1: that's the part that people miss. You see Halle Berry
- 3:56Speaker 1: on TV and you want you want to have on
- 3:59Speaker 1: one of the dresses on the carpet, and you want
- 4:00Speaker 1: to stand there and get the award and you want
- 4:02Speaker 1: to have the same people had to do your hair
- 4:04Speaker 1: to do Halle and who do Beyonce? All that's good,
- 4:07Speaker 1: All that's good man, But do you have the talent
- 4:10Speaker 1: or the gift to accomplish that? See, don't get outside
- 4:14Speaker 1: your scope. I wanted to play in the NBA when
- 4:17Speaker 1: I was eight years old. But something happened along the way.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I didn't have skill set. I discovered that when I
- 4:22Speaker 1: ran as fast as I could, the basketball was never
- 4:26Speaker 1: with me. Man, that's an important part of all. You know.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I could jump, but I normally didn't have a basketball.
- 4:33Speaker 1: So now see that that passion and that dream of
- 4:36Speaker 1: being in the NBA was not tied to my gift.
- 4:39Speaker 1: My gift was when I was sitting there watching them
- 4:43Speaker 1: play basketball. I was the little dude leaning against the
- 4:46Speaker 1: fence that had a comment about everything everybody did. That
- 4:52Speaker 1: was it. I was the commentator, the color commentator, and
- 4:57Speaker 1: lord I was funny. It was one of the few
- 5:00Speaker 1: times I didn't stutter when I was leaning against the fish,
- 5:03Speaker 1: talking trash. But if you took me to school, you
- 5:05Speaker 1: took me to church, you took me in front of somebody,
- 5:07Speaker 1: you sent me to the store, Man, that stuttering just
- 5:09Speaker 1: came over the top of me. I couldn't do it.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Remember the first time I told somebody my dream is
- 5:14Speaker 1: to be on TV, man, they laughed at me so
- 5:16Speaker 1: hard that they laughed me out the gym because I
- 5:19Speaker 1: had a stuttering problem. So that caused me never to
- 5:21Speaker 1: tell it again. The best way to accomplish your dream
- 5:25Speaker 1: is you got to tie it to your gift, to
- 5:27Speaker 1: the talent that God has given you. You can't overlook that.
- 5:30Speaker 1: See God never created a person without giving them a
- 5:32Speaker 1: talent or a gift. You have something that you do,
- 5:35Speaker 1: and the way to identify that is very simple. It
- 5:37Speaker 1: is the thing that you do the absolute best with
- 5:39Speaker 1: the least amount of effort. What is that that you
- 5:41Speaker 1: do that's better than you do anything else with the
- 5:44Speaker 1: least amount of effort. You do this, it's almost You
- 5:47Speaker 1: can draw without you can write, you can sing. You
- 5:51Speaker 1: know how to pull stuff apart and put it back together.
- 5:54Speaker 1: You know how to connect the dots and cross t's,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and you know how to organize things and put people together.
- 6:01Speaker 1: You know how to network. You know how to shoot
- 6:04Speaker 1: videos better than anybody. You know how to calm people
- 6:06Speaker 1: down when they when it's a conflict that your school
- 6:09Speaker 1: is something, they come to you. All your friends come
- 6:11Speaker 1: to you. They problem. There's a gift and the talent.
- 6:13Speaker 1: You have to identify what that is. Now, if you
- 6:16Speaker 1: take that gift and talent that you are born with
- 6:19Speaker 1: and you marry it into your dream, you put those
- 6:22Speaker 1: two in the dream that's the number one thing. And
- 6:25Speaker 1: here's a deal. You can never give up on the dream.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I don't care how old you are. There's a scripture
- 6:36Speaker 1: that says a man without a dream or vision shall perish.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Think about this. If you've given up on your dream,
- 6:43Speaker 1: don't it feel like you're going nowhere? You have a
- 6:46Speaker 1: wake up in the morning and just go, Man, this
- 6:48Speaker 1: can't be all to it. It's got to be more
- 6:51Speaker 1: to it than this. That's that seed, that dream, that talent,
- 6:55Speaker 1: that gift that's in you, that needs watering and nurturing
- 6:58Speaker 1: and fertilize it to come out and grow. But you
- 7:01Speaker 1: got to identify. Man, Come on, and you can't give
- 7:04Speaker 1: up on your dream because now you got just the
- 7:06Speaker 1: job that's helping you pay these bills, and now you
- 7:09Speaker 1: locked into the system where paying the bills is so
- 7:11Speaker 1: critical and living expenses on top of you that you
- 7:14Speaker 1: got to keep going to this job. So now you
- 7:16Speaker 1: give up on your dreams, That ain't how this thing work. Man.
- 7:19Speaker 1: You can't ever give up on the dream. It's gonna
- 7:23Speaker 1: be a sacrifice to do that. To follow your dream,
- 7:25Speaker 1: You're gonna have to let something go. That's the scary part.
- 7:29Speaker 1: That's the part where people don't want to let go
- 7:31Speaker 1: of the peanut to get the fruit, so you hang
- 7:33Speaker 1: on to your peanut. Now, the fruit out there, it's melons, grapes, bananas, pineapples,
- 7:39Speaker 1: it's out fruit is out there, but you're so busy
- 7:41Speaker 1: hanging on to this peanut, that job that has got
- 7:44Speaker 1: you locked in, and you can't go out there and
- 7:46Speaker 1: enjoy the fruits of your life. You have to make
- 7:48Speaker 1: a decision. A decision is based on your dream and
- 7:51Speaker 1: your gift. If you tie those two together, why not
- 7:53Speaker 1: take a shot at it. I mean, what you're waiting on.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Everything I tell you is faith based, so remember that too.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Now you got to take your faith the lung. But
- 8:00Speaker 1: it starts with the dream. You're listening to the Steve
- 8:03Speaker 1: Harvey Morning Show.
