- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a bramble Jam podcast. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark,
- 0:24Speaker 1: a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan and I'm a longtime
- 0:27Speaker 1: Hallmark fan.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I'm Wendy, I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Before we jump into today's episode, we wanted to take
- 0:34Speaker 1: a moment to acknowledge what's happening in Minneapolis. The recent
- 0:37Speaker 1: shootings by federal agents during immigration operations, including the deaths
- 0:41Speaker 1: of both Renee Good and Alex Pretty, are tragic and unacceptable.
- 0:45Speaker 1: We hear Girls Gone Hamewark stand with the Minneapolis community
- 0:49Speaker 1: calling for accountability, transparency, and an end to this violence.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Our hearts go out to the families and everyone affected.
- 0:57Speaker 1: We know that these are heavy times and we're very
- 0:59Speaker 1: great to have you here, and our goal is to
- 1:03Speaker 1: offer you some lightness in the form of escapist podcast
- 1:07Speaker 1: movie reviews. On today's episode, we are discussing the season
- 1:15Speaker 1: one finale of Ripple The Bonus. All episodes of Ripple

- 1:58Speaker 2: So come and listen to as many episodes as you want,
- 2:01Speaker 2: and then hopefully you'll.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Decide to stay. This week's episode over on patren is
- 2:06Speaker 1: our approved episode, where we talk about items we're currently
- 2:08Speaker 1: using and loving. None of that is sponsored. But my
- 2:11Speaker 1: favorite part about Approved episodes is we also deep dive
- 2:13Speaker 1: into what is in our TikTok shop carts and the
- 2:15Speaker 1: things that are currently influencing us, which is always a
- 2:18Speaker 1: good time. I love that episode, and in our next
- 2:22Speaker 1: approved episode next month, I'm going to have my very
- 2:24Speaker 1: first TikTok shop order reviews. Ooh, I'm three items deep now.
- 2:31Speaker 1: The floodgates had been opened. The slippery slope.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Isn't it?
- 2:34Speaker 1: It really is? I know.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I just click, click and and and usually arrives pretty quickly.
- 2:42Speaker 1: The in app shopping experience really was revelatory on the
- 2:47Speaker 1: behalf of the Overlords over at TikTok.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah, before I share the synopsis, I have a question,
- 2:55Speaker 2: are you are you glad that we are finally finishing
- 2:58Speaker 2: this series?
- 2:59Speaker 1: Oh? Glad? Like, I'm not glad it's over? Are you
- 3:04Speaker 1: glad it's over?
- 3:05Speaker 2: No? I enjoyed it so much. Before I'll jump in,
- 3:10Speaker 2: I was having dinner with my parents over the weekend
- 3:12Speaker 2: and we were talking about shows we were watching. It
- 3:14Speaker 2: was our very own pop culture club at dinner. Yeah,
- 3:17Speaker 2: that's a Patreon episode. Yeah, And we talked about Ripple
- 3:21Speaker 2: and my stepmom was like, yeah, I enjoyed it. It
- 3:24Speaker 2: was very hallmarky and I was like, yeah, it was
- 3:27Speaker 2: made for Hallmark originally, you know. And she's like, and
- 3:31Speaker 2: it was so curious that that comment has has like
- 3:34Speaker 2: stayed with me because my takeaway from the show is
- 3:39Speaker 2: it was very not hallmarky and much deeper and thoughtful
- 3:44Speaker 2: and resonating to me as a viewer, very heavy at times.
- 3:49Speaker 2: So my whole point is I am kind of glad
- 3:53Speaker 2: to see this season end because I just don't know
- 3:56Speaker 2: how much more I could.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Oh, I see, Yeah, you needed a break. Yeah, it was.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I mean it was heavy. Like you, I don't find
- 4:05Speaker 1: it to be particularly Hallmarky because we're so deeply immersed
- 4:08Speaker 1: in the Hallmark world, but I think maybe compared to
- 4:13Speaker 1: the vast majority of the other content, it maybe skews
- 4:16Speaker 1: more Hallmark than say, HBO Max. Yeah, you know, it's
- 4:21Speaker 1: it's It is kind of a tough watch though, I mean,
- 4:24Speaker 1: it's heavy. I have a lot of thoughts about this
- 4:27Speaker 1: episode and where we ended the season though, me too.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I was just thinking, I'm like, I would love like
- 4:32Speaker 2: a whiteboard and to draw like a ven diagram of
- 4:35Speaker 2: like here's how it's Hallmark and here's how it's nice.
- 4:40Speaker 2: You know.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I feel like I need a whole like.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Dissertation on the series. Anyway, Let's get into episode eight,
- 4:47Speaker 2: The Bonus with a synopsis.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Here it goes.
- 4:49Speaker 2: As the festive season gets underway, the Bars regulars reflect
- 4:54Speaker 2: on their journeys and the strings of fate that drew
- 4:58Speaker 2: them all together.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Our final news and notes for this Ripple season. This
- 5:03Speaker 1: episode is directed by Lisa Soper. She has eight directing
- 5:06Speaker 1: credits total, and also directed last week's episode seven. Her
- 5:10Speaker 1: past work includes shows like Riverdale and pretty Little Liar's
- 5:13Speaker 1: Original Sin for our Hallmark listener as a quick reminder
- 5:17Speaker 1: that she's behind the upcoming True Justice movies True Justice two,
- 5:21Speaker 1: I for an Eye and True Justice three.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Lost Love Hallmark side note, where are those movies? They
- 5:27Speaker 2: haven't been announced yet, right for the schedule, They.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Have not been announced. Of course, we talked about this
- 5:33Speaker 1: last week. The rumor is they're coming to Hallmark Plus,
- 5:35Speaker 1: but that is fully unsubstantiated. Well, the first Hallmark Mystery
- 5:40Speaker 1: of the year was announced, though. Did you see that?
- 5:43Speaker 2: I did see that. It's a Nelly Nose Mysteries. Oh
- 5:47Speaker 2: that's right, what's you I'm excited about because I enjoyed
- 5:51Speaker 2: the first one and was slightly different than than the
- 5:54Speaker 2: other mysteries.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I'll be honest, no memory of it, really none.
- 6:01Speaker 2: I mean I don't remember the details, but I remember
- 6:03Speaker 2: the cast.
- 6:04Speaker 1: I remember the cast too, but Kevin Smith and Pascalhaddan great.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I might need to watch the first one.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, honestly, I would prefer a third Cases
- 6:15Speaker 2: of Mystery Lane over O me two Nelly Knows Mysteries.
- 6:19Speaker 2: But that's me, that is me.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Uh.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Back to Ripple episode. It was written by Michelle G.
- 6:28Speaker 1: And USA.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Michelle is the creator of this show and has worked
- 6:32Speaker 2: I was looking at IMDb because I know other episodes
- 6:35Speaker 2: were written by other people, but on IMDb she is
- 6:38Speaker 2: credited for with all eight episodes. I don't really understand
- 6:42Speaker 2: the details of writing credits when it comes to episodes
- 6:47Speaker 2: in a series.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Sure me either. I was hoping you can share some clarity.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I don't think it's the same everywhere. Right, she has
- 6:56Speaker 1: a team of writers, but perhaps does the bulk of
- 6:59Speaker 1: the right and therefore earns the writing credit. But there
- 7:04Speaker 1: is a writing staff who contributes. Yeah. I think if
- 7:08Speaker 1: you think of shows like what's the show that Elizabeth
- 7:11Speaker 1: Lamee wrote on a million little things like she had
- 7:15Speaker 1: a writing credit, and so I think sometimes they'll be like, hey,
- 7:17Speaker 1: this is your script. You write the script, and then
- 7:19Speaker 1: the writer's room will kind of come together and polish it.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Got it.
- 7:24Speaker 1: I just think it's probably different on every show. That's
- 7:28Speaker 1: all I know. Someone school us drop into our email. Hey,
- 7:32Speaker 1: it's Hello at Girls Gonehollmark dot com. We got a
- 7:36Speaker 1: new email. The old one will still work, but we're
- 7:40Speaker 1: working on transitioning over.
- 7:42Speaker 2: So tell me again what it is, Hello at Girl,
- 7:45Speaker 2: Because I don't honestly don't even know how to access it.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I know you gave me instruction and I'll go over
- 7:50Speaker 2: there eventually and figure it out. But the only email
- 7:53Speaker 2: address is hello at Girls Gonehollmark.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Dot com, the only one that people need at the moment. Yes, okay,
- 8:00Speaker 1: co coo cool. Our regular cast is all back this week.
- 8:03Speaker 1: We do get a few additional appearances, including Jake Epstein
- 8:06Speaker 1: as Jack and Phil Lucy as Victor. Let's take a
- 8:10Speaker 1: quick break and come right back with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy,
- 8:22Speaker 1: what's your first impression of the season finale of Ripple?
- 8:26Speaker 2: Well, you know, Jake Epstein walks in and my Hallmark
- 8:29Speaker 2: brain goes, oh, I know you such a pleasant surprise.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Peter Benson, Yeah, exactly. It was the Peter Benson phenomenon, totally. Yeah.
- 8:41Speaker 1: My first impression is I'm going to need a campaign
- 8:43Speaker 1: to renew season two of Ripple or right now?
- 8:46Speaker 2: How should we do with that?
- 8:48Speaker 1: I don't know, but I genuinely think we should launch it.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Maybe we should.
- 8:53Speaker 2: I mean I would love to, I would love a
- 8:56Speaker 2: season two. I'm just like, my brain is just processing, okay, oh,
- 9:01Speaker 2: how should we make this happen?
- 9:03Speaker 1: I don't know. Okay, I have some thoughts, but stay tuned, folks.
- 9:07Speaker 1: You should be following us on Instagram. Hey, yeah, what
- 9:11Speaker 1: did you like about this episode?
- 9:13Speaker 2: Coming into the finale episode, I said it last week,
- 9:16Speaker 2: I was like, Oh, I hope it's forward progress on
- 9:21Speaker 2: healing and hope, and I think we got that, so
- 9:26Speaker 2: I was pleased with that. I also was happy it
- 9:31Speaker 2: wasn't like this big plot swing, you know, like it
- 9:34Speaker 2: wasn't a huge cliffhanger. If this is where it ends,
- 9:38Speaker 2: I can be satisfied with that.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 9:43Speaker 2: I mean, it left a lot of it. I'll talk
- 9:46Speaker 2: about it in my wishes, the stuff I wish that
- 9:49Speaker 2: they had closed the loop on. But I think if
- 9:52Speaker 2: this is all we get, I can reflect back on
- 9:54Speaker 2: it and be like, that was a great one season show.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I agree with you, it was a great one season show.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I liked the tone of this episode. Like you said,
- 10:03Speaker 1: I'm glad this was not last week's episode. Nobody wanted
- 10:06Speaker 1: to end like that. I do think that the tone
- 10:09Speaker 1: of the final episode is very hopeful. We talked last
- 10:13Speaker 1: week about how that is their goal for this show
- 10:16Speaker 1: to kind of be a little light in the world,
- 10:18Speaker 1: and these people are for each other, which I love. Again.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I do have plenty of wishes, but one thing in
- 10:28Speaker 1: particular I liked to kick off this list. I liked
- 10:32Speaker 1: this first full circle moment we get with Ellis. They
- 10:36Speaker 1: are choosing to love themselves. I love that moment where
- 10:40Speaker 1: they're in that shop and they connect with that dude
- 10:43Speaker 1: and they're like cool camera and he's like yeah, from
- 10:46Speaker 1: me to me. And then of course that comes full
- 10:48Speaker 1: circle with Ellis buying themselves a camera with their Christmas bonus,
- 10:53Speaker 1: which brings us all the way back to the first
- 10:55Speaker 1: episode where Ellis's friend and fellow Artis basically sells out
- 11:02Speaker 1: to the man, takes an l and is like, I'm
- 11:04Speaker 1: going corporate, and Ellis is still hanging on to this
- 11:08Speaker 1: hope of making it as an artist. And then of
- 11:12Speaker 1: course we get a glimpse that that's a potential in
- 11:15Speaker 1: their future when they meet Victor. And I appreciated that
- 11:20Speaker 1: we don't know a lot about Ellis when the show starts,
- 11:22Speaker 1: and Ellis has really served as a supporting character throughout
- 11:26Speaker 1: this season, and so to see them and in that
- 11:31Speaker 1: hopeful way and not just in a I stuck around
- 11:34Speaker 1: for Nate and that paid off was nice.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yeah. You know what's funny is in my eyes, Ellis
- 11:43Speaker 2: is one of the main characters of this show. And
- 11:47Speaker 2: I know they aren't promoted as such, but I really
- 11:52Speaker 2: enjoyed the character of Ellis and their storyline and it
- 11:57Speaker 2: talk about closed loop and covered a lot of territory
- 12:07Speaker 2: in one season just on their storyline alone, you know,
- 12:12Speaker 2: like a reconnecting with a romantic person and then that
- 12:16Speaker 2: kind of ending, and I loved I gotta tell you,
- 12:20Speaker 2: I love that scene between Ellis and the patron Victor,
- 12:24Speaker 2: just the whole conversation they have that monologue basically about
- 12:29Speaker 2: like love and loved ending and what do you learn
- 12:31Speaker 2: from it? I thought that was really good and I
- 12:35Speaker 2: was just so happy that this Victor guy's like, oh, hey,
- 12:38Speaker 2: I'm working on this project. I love these photos. Are
- 12:42Speaker 2: you interested?
- 12:43Speaker 1: Like yay?
- 12:44Speaker 2: It was like a total win for Ellis.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Yeah, like you're proud of them. Yeah yeah, and a.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Win after a hard season of their lives, you know
- 12:56Speaker 2: what I mean.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Yeah. I love that Nate and.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Chris reconnect and you can clearly see Chris misses him,
- 13:06Speaker 2: Nate's excited to see her at this holiday party. The
- 13:11Speaker 2: party ends, they have this moment Chris is like, I'm
- 13:16Speaker 2: all in, I'm here for you. I want to do
- 13:19Speaker 2: this with you, and I am heartbroken when Nate wants
- 13:25Speaker 2: to put things on pause. I get it, I absolutely
- 13:29Speaker 2: get it. And this is fully side note and maybe
- 13:32Speaker 2: my own baggage that I'm projecting onto this storyline, but
- 13:37Speaker 2: as someone who personally has.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Dealt with.
- 13:41Speaker 2: A potential life ending illness and when you deal with
- 13:48Speaker 2: your own mortality and you don't want to bring people
- 13:51Speaker 2: into that because what if something gets worse or happens.
- 13:55Speaker 2: I fully understand his position on it, but I also
- 13:59Speaker 2: love how Walter comforts Chris and says that you know
- 14:04Speaker 2: Nate's going to get there, He's going to realize that
- 14:07Speaker 2: he wants to move forward with a person, it's more fun, etc.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Etc.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I just loved how all those pieces like work together. Truly,
- 14:16Speaker 2: these people are there for each other. I cannot stress
- 14:20Speaker 2: like how much that was so enjoyable to watch.
- 14:25Speaker 1: I hated, of course, the moment where Nate tells Chris
- 14:29Speaker 1: he needs to take a step back. I was heartbroken
- 14:32Speaker 1: for her because you think, finally they're getting it together.
- 14:35Speaker 1: She's saying everything out loud to him, and I from
- 14:39Speaker 1: a different perspective. Understand Nate not wanting to drag Chris along,
- 14:45Speaker 1: probably not wanting to do the work of fostering a
- 14:49Speaker 1: new relationship when he really just needs to focus on himself.
- 14:54Speaker 1: But the letter that he writes to her about the
- 14:57Speaker 1: plant and the metaphor about the plant her was real
- 15:01Speaker 1: sweet and definitely left things open in a positive direction
- 15:06Speaker 1: for the two of them. It definitely wasn't a closed door.
- 15:10Speaker 1: I felt like there were opportunities for that relationship to
- 15:14Speaker 1: exists in the future, but made me sad.
- 15:18Speaker 2: I love the ending with the plant and the metaphor
- 15:22Speaker 2: and the voice over storytelling we hear what was written
- 15:25Speaker 2: in the letter. I loved all that, and I definitely
- 15:28Speaker 2: think there is an open door there. I don't think
- 15:32Speaker 2: Nate was motivated by hurting her by telling her we
- 15:38Speaker 2: have to pause. I think it's fair that a person
- 15:43Speaker 2: who's dealing with an illness like this says like, hey,
- 15:46Speaker 2: I have to focus inward. Oh.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I think it's totally fair too. I don't think his
- 15:51Speaker 1: goal was to hurt her. Yeah, speaking of Nate and Claire,
- 15:57Speaker 1: the other woman in his life gets a little bit
- 16:00Speaker 1: of redemption, a little bit of a life beyond her
- 16:04Speaker 1: role as Nate's future ex wife and mother of his child.
- 16:09Speaker 1: I like that she and Nate come to kind of
- 16:12Speaker 1: a moment of peace with each other. She chooses to
- 16:16Speaker 1: get the help she needs for what I can only
- 16:18Speaker 1: describe as financial impulsivity. Oh that's so good.
- 16:22Speaker 2: I'm so glad that you shed some clarity on that,
- 16:24Speaker 2: because as I was watching it, I was like, what
- 16:28Speaker 2: is she What does she think is wrong that she
- 16:30Speaker 2: needs help with?
- 16:31Speaker 1: Is it?
- 16:32Speaker 2: Is it spending money? Is it getting wrapped up in
- 16:35Speaker 2: scams or or what is it?
- 16:38Speaker 1: Exactly? Yeah, And it's not one hundred percent clear, but
- 16:42Speaker 1: that's where I took it. And I think that the
- 16:45Speaker 1: need to lie about it and just kind of get
- 16:47Speaker 1: in too deep, but also makes good choices with the
- 16:50Speaker 1: money that she does have. I like that. I feel
- 16:53Speaker 1: like they are in a good place for each other.
- 16:56Speaker 1: When she's like having her little solo night and they
- 16:58Speaker 1: pan to the candle and I was like, what are
- 17:00Speaker 1: we doing here? People? But I'm glad that it was just,
- 17:03Speaker 1: you know, a little fire and led to a meet
- 17:05Speaker 1: cute with her and Jake Epstein. A little fire that
- 17:10Speaker 1: leads to a meet cute. I mean, how else would
- 17:13Speaker 1: you describe that moment they're all fine, and she's like,
- 17:16Speaker 1: wasn't really a big fire, just a lot of smoke,
- 17:18Speaker 1: you know, like the building has not burnt down. Yeah,
- 17:21Speaker 1: it just seems to be more of a nuisance than
- 17:23Speaker 1: anything else. And she gets to go have a little
- 17:25Speaker 1: mini date with Jack. Yeah.
- 17:27Speaker 2: I loved it. I loved it, and I love that
- 17:30Speaker 2: because early on Claire was like this sort of made
- 17:34Speaker 2: out to be a villain a little bit, like she
- 17:36Speaker 2: wasn't completely I wasn't rooting for her.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I felt sorry for her.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Because Nate was like so hard on, like I'm ending
- 17:44Speaker 2: this marriage. She's come a long way in eight episodes.
- 17:49Speaker 2: For me personally, part of me still feels like icky
- 17:53Speaker 2: that it's Aria's ring that is sold and then yeah,
- 17:57Speaker 2: people benefit from it because that's a loss for Aria,
- 18:02Speaker 2: and maybe that all comes back around at some point
- 18:04Speaker 2: well the future, but who knows.
- 18:06Speaker 1: That's funny that you say that, because I was of
- 18:08Speaker 1: all the loose threads of all the things that really
- 18:10Speaker 1: don't come So much does come full circle in this episode,
- 18:14Speaker 1: but a lot doesn't. A lot is still left in
- 18:16Speaker 1: the open. That's one of those big pieces that Aria
- 18:19Speaker 1: never knew and Nate and Chris don't know the origin
- 18:22Speaker 1: of that ring, And I was thinking, I think that's
- 18:24Speaker 1: just like life, like that's going to be one of
- 18:26Speaker 1: those things that they'll know. How would she ever know
- 18:29Speaker 1: at this point? Yeah, you wouldn't, So that's just going
- 18:32Speaker 1: to be one of those things that maybe remains unknown
- 18:35Speaker 1: only to the viewer. Really were the only people who
- 18:38Speaker 1: know the truth? Right? That ring?
- 18:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like that. You know, what's that Taylor Swift
- 18:43Speaker 2: song about, like the invisible stres, the invisible string, and
- 18:47Speaker 2: that's it?
- 18:47Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly exactly.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Walter's arc is probably my favorite of the scene. I
- 18:54Speaker 2: love that he goes from a trend to participant with
- 18:58Speaker 2: all these friendships investing in the bar. I love the
- 19:02Speaker 2: scene between him and Nate in the back office, Nate
- 19:06Speaker 2: invites him to be a business partner, not just an investor.
- 19:10Speaker 1: I loved all that.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I did think it was a It felt appropriate, but
- 19:15Speaker 2: also kind of a little bit weird, like, oh, yeah,
- 19:18Speaker 2: you're now a business partner, but you're gonna go on
- 19:22Speaker 2: this trip to Napa to learn like so quickly, like
- 19:26Speaker 2: him leaving as soon as it happens. But I love
- 19:30Speaker 2: that story of like now he's going to pursue something
- 19:34Speaker 2: else that he's never known about, but he'll be back.
- 19:38Speaker 2: I loved Walter.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I loved Walter. Yeah, that he has this next phase
- 19:43Speaker 1: of purpose, Like this whole season was about healing from
- 19:46Speaker 1: the loss of Brenda and now he has his next thing.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:52Speaker 1: What's your read on Tara and Sylvie in this episode?
- 19:55Speaker 1: I think it's a fine relationship. Maybe I can write
- 20:00Speaker 1: off that Sylvie's busy during a busy holiday season and
- 20:03Speaker 1: Tara feels a little forgotten. Yeah, I do wish there
- 20:09Speaker 1: was more there. I don't know.
- 20:11Speaker 2: I'm not like rooting for Tara and Sylvie. I think
- 20:14Speaker 2: they're fine. I'm rooting for Tara. I love Tara.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, same. You know, when Sylvie was blowing her off,
- 20:22Speaker 1: I took got a different read on that situation, and
- 20:24Speaker 1: it was Ellis who was like, why don't you just
- 20:28Speaker 1: go to her house? Right? Sylvie seems thrilled to see
- 20:32Speaker 1: Tara when Tara shows up, and I think this storyline
- 20:34Speaker 1: is more about Tara making room in her life for
- 20:37Speaker 1: somebody new. She's still processing the idea of moving on
- 20:43Speaker 1: and changing the shape of her life, and I think
- 20:45Speaker 1: that's really what it's about. Agree with you that I'm
- 20:48Speaker 1: more interested in Tara than Tara and Sylvie.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I just one little you know. I talked all
- 20:56Speaker 2: season about the one thing that, like, ye feel like
- 21:00Speaker 2: I have to like look for and what's the thread
- 21:03Speaker 2: that ties it all together. I really did enjoy the
- 21:08Speaker 2: bonus being the thing that ties it all together. And
- 21:13Speaker 2: and we're talking of course about like literal money as bonuses,
- 21:19Speaker 2: but we're also bonuses that well, like.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Walter doesn't just get to be an investor, he gets
- 21:25Speaker 1: to be a partner. That's more than he could have
- 21:28Speaker 1: hoped for.
- 21:29Speaker 2: In that regard, It's like all these unexpected little benefits,
- 21:33Speaker 2: little gifts, right, And I think they already used the
- 21:37Speaker 2: gift as a previous title.
- 21:40Speaker 1: So yeah, I just loved it.
- 21:42Speaker 2: I'm so glad that for me it had moved away
- 21:45Speaker 2: from like trying to find this thing that connects it
- 21:48Speaker 2: all together and instead of just like seeing it and
- 21:52Speaker 2: not having to decipher it, you know what I mean.
- 21:56Speaker 2: That wraps up my likes.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Well, I think we may be in the same vein
- 22:01Speaker 1: with our wishes. For me, it's a lot of loose ends.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I want to start with Aria. Yep, she has the
- 22:09Speaker 1: biggest question mark over her head for me. At the
- 22:12Speaker 1: end of the episode, she and John are not in
- 22:14Speaker 1: a good place. I kind of was hoping that we
- 22:16Speaker 1: might get a reveal of John's infidelity, but she doesn't
- 22:19Speaker 1: know anything about that. John seems to very much have
- 22:21Speaker 1: moved on from that that phone call he gets it
- 22:23Speaker 1: seems like someone's calling him to letting it let him
- 22:26Speaker 1: know that DESI is changing offices? Is that how you
- 22:29Speaker 1: read that? And he's like, I don't care, we're not talking.
- 22:32Speaker 1: But of course Aria overhears the part of the conversation
- 22:35Speaker 1: that he's not saying particularly complimentary things. Then, of course,
- 22:39Speaker 1: via Tara's playlist, she finds the artist Ryan with the
- 22:43Speaker 1: tattoo that matches the photo. I kind of had helped
- 22:46Speaker 1: we would get a little more information about these things.
- 22:49Speaker 1: That being said, if we are getting a season two,
- 22:52Speaker 1: this is great. We need things to lead us into it.
- 22:54Speaker 1: If we're not just Poorstedney Agadong. I'm like, what is
- 22:58Speaker 1: she going on tour? Does she have a f Who's
- 23:00Speaker 1: what's going on?
- 23:02Speaker 2: Yeah? Exactly, exactly, That's exactly my number one wish. There's
- 23:06Speaker 2: too many things left unexplained or under explained, you know,
- 23:12Speaker 2: all the stuff like you know, this is the first
- 23:14Speaker 2: time I was like, Oh, maybe John's infidelity came from
- 23:19Speaker 2: a place I'm I am not excusing his behavior by
- 23:23Speaker 2: any means, but maybe his marriage with Aria was very
- 23:27Speaker 2: difficult in terms of like taking care of her and
- 23:32Speaker 2: protecting her, and maybe his thing was with DESI was
- 23:37Speaker 2: easy and fun and opposite of what he had with Aria.
- 23:41Speaker 2: And I don't know, I just need way more context
- 23:46Speaker 2: in the Aria storyline, in the Aria and John's storyline.
- 23:51Speaker 2: So if they do do a season two, like you said,
- 23:53Speaker 2: like here we go, here's where we're gonna lead with it.
- 23:56Speaker 1: So I'm also a little bit surprised that Walter and
- 24:02Speaker 1: the Lisa Gay Hamilton character never connect. They you know,
- 24:05Speaker 1: they're in close proximity, they're in the same space, they
- 24:09Speaker 1: circling quite literally, but they they they have so many
- 24:14Speaker 1: instances that bring them very close together, both metaphorically and physically,
- 24:18Speaker 1: and nothing happens. And so again I think that's it.
- 24:22Speaker 1: I'm okay with that at a hint of what could be.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I liked that we saw them finally occupy the same space,
- 24:29Speaker 1: but again, I would have loved for them to have met.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Yeah, something, something connects somehow, Yeah, right.
- 24:37Speaker 1: She's not. It's not accidental that we continue to see
- 24:40Speaker 1: her and she has this whole like needing to find
- 24:42Speaker 1: that ornament storyline and all of that right, and then
- 24:46Speaker 1: the rest of it. You know, it's like, what's gonna
- 24:48Speaker 1: happen with Theed's treatment. Ian is one of the stars
- 24:50Speaker 1: of the show, so we assume it's going to be successful.
- 24:53Speaker 1: But I don't know the big picture that the writers
- 24:56Speaker 1: have planned for this show, and I don't know the
- 24:59Speaker 1: circumstance an under which Nate and Chris might end up together,
- 25:03Speaker 1: So I have questions about that as well.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Yeah, you hit all my wishes. The only other thing
- 25:08Speaker 2: I would want to add is the uncertainty of Chris's
- 25:12Speaker 2: future professionally. Oh you're great, I okay, fine, be part
- 25:18Speaker 2: of like the musical therapy group or whatever. But I
- 25:22Speaker 2: think it at her core, Chris is a music manager.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I don't know, producer.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I don't think she should just abandon that. I don't
- 25:31Speaker 2: know why she's at this like crossroads because Aria bounced.
- 25:36Speaker 2: She's obviously very talented at her job at finding other talents,
- 25:40Speaker 2: so why wouldn't she just continue to pursue that.
- 25:43Speaker 1: I think they're hinting that she will when her old
- 25:46Speaker 1: boss is at her house. I think for some reason
- 25:50Speaker 1: that led me to believe that she's going to get
- 25:53Speaker 1: back in the mix, not with her old job, but
- 25:55Speaker 1: just this music therapy thing. It's just something to give
- 25:58Speaker 1: her a purpose in the meantime. I hope, I hope,
- 26:01Speaker 1: because yes, she's very talented. How about some did you
- 26:05Speaker 1: see that? I have a few.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Oh, let's hear it, you know, not not the typicals,
- 26:10Speaker 2: but just some funny things. The scene where Tara is
- 26:15Speaker 2: in her apartment and she's on the phone with Sylvie.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Did you see that Tara's Christmas tree was a dress form?
- 26:22Speaker 1: Like it?
- 26:22Speaker 2: No, Like the upper the bodice of a dress form
- 26:26Speaker 2: was the top of the tree, and then the tree.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Was the skirt. Oh that's fun.
- 26:31Speaker 2: It was so interesting. But I was like, how does
- 26:34Speaker 2: this relate to Tara?
- 26:35Speaker 1: What is Tara?
- 26:37Speaker 2: What's her Do we know anything about her background?
- 26:40Speaker 1: Yeah? Great question.
- 26:42Speaker 2: I can't recall offhand, Like is she in fashion?
- 26:45Speaker 1: Is she what? Like?
- 26:48Speaker 2: What what's the choice here with the tree? I just
- 26:51Speaker 2: thought it was interesting. A couple other things. Nate tossing
- 26:54Speaker 2: Rebecca's hairclip after Alice finds it in their pocket, I
- 26:58Speaker 2: thought was so funny.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Right into the lights, like I'll keep track of it,
- 27:01Speaker 1: and then throws it into the dishbin moving on.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I enjoyed that. And then the last thing is
- 27:10Speaker 2: when Chris tells Nate she's all in as a Gilmore
- 27:14Speaker 2: Girls person. Yeah, self, maybe you clocked it. I mean
- 27:18Speaker 2: that line carries so much emotional weight if you are
- 27:22Speaker 2: a fan of Luke and Laura Lai and know what
- 27:25Speaker 2: that means between the two of them. I just that's
- 27:29Speaker 2: just one of those like phrases that should be trademarked.
- 27:31Speaker 2: I wonder if it is by Gilmour Universe somehow.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Yeah, that was great. I heard that as well when
- 27:38Speaker 1: she was saying that I have a just see that
- 27:40Speaker 1: from one marcyta house Oh, who replied to us on
- 27:44Speaker 1: threads stop and here's what I love about this. First
- 27:49Speaker 1: of all, she was replying to there was a thread
- 27:53Speaker 1: about catch up with our Ripperle reviews, and let me
- 27:57Speaker 1: read Marcy's reply. She says, Ladies, now, I know I'm
- 28:00Speaker 1: supposed to say that the toilet paper should go over
- 28:03Speaker 1: not under dove it. So pause right there. She listened
- 28:07Speaker 1: to the episode.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Oh my god, we fully had a conversation about it
- 28:13Speaker 2: last night. Oh my god, Oh my god, and dying.
- 28:17Speaker 1: That she listened. Can you believe it.
- 28:20Speaker 2: I'm such a huge issues listening to this. I'm such
- 28:22Speaker 2: a huge fan. I need her way more on Hallmark.
- 28:25Speaker 2: I just think she's incredible.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Then goes on to say, but quite honestly, I've never
- 28:30Speaker 1: understood why it mattered. It literally works either way. It's
- 28:34Speaker 1: a preference, right. Why must humanity have such divides, to
- 28:39Speaker 1: which I replied, I said, Marcy, were honored that you
- 28:43Speaker 1: listened and responded to such a gem on ripple, and
- 28:46Speaker 1: you make an excellent point if only toilet paper arguments
- 28:48Speaker 1: were our biggest issue. And then she responds, thank you, obviously,
- 28:54Speaker 1: and she says, an, FYI, I live in Vancouver, BC,
- 28:57Speaker 1: because if you recall, I didn't talk to out leaving
- 29:01Speaker 1: the United States, and I didn't nowhere.
- 29:04Speaker 2: She had talked about it on threads right.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Yes, many many years ago, and so she left and
- 29:09Speaker 1: has never looked back. So she's a Canadian now. So
- 29:14Speaker 1: hi'm Marcie. I feel like we need to induct her
- 29:17Speaker 1: into our unofficial girl gang.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Yes, na'am, I'm just.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Gonna call her my friend from here on out.
- 29:25Speaker 2: That's amazing. That brings me so much joy, hasn't it.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I'm so like, I feel like flush in my face.
- 29:32Speaker 2: I'm so happy about it.
- 29:33Speaker 1: I know me too, me too. Thank you for listening.
