- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on. Uh-huh. I sure will. Good morning, everybody. Y'all
- 0:06Speaker 1: listening to The Voice. Come on, dig me now. One
- 0:10Speaker 1: and only. Steve Harvey got a radio show. Man, oh, man, oh, man.
- 0:16Speaker 1: How many times I got to say that before I
- 0:18Speaker 1: get tired of it? I think it's going to be
- 0:22Speaker 1: a minute, folks. I got to be real with you. Because, boy,
- 0:25Speaker 1: that Steve Harvey got a radio show. Man. clear indication
- 0:30Speaker 1: of how God can do some unexpected, wonderful things for you,
- 0:36Speaker 1: how he leads your life in directions that you never,
- 0:39Speaker 1: ever saw coming. You know, I was talking with somebody
- 0:42Speaker 1: the other day and they were talking about how, man,
- 0:45Speaker 1: they were young and they were doing things and they
- 0:48Speaker 1: never knew that the things that they were doing as
- 0:50Speaker 1: a youngster would come and help form who they were today.
- 0:57Speaker 1: As an adult, this guy is 50 years old. And,
- 1:00Speaker 1: you know, the same thing for you. If you look
- 1:02Speaker 1: back on your life and all of the things that
- 1:05Speaker 1: you've done, it helps shape you into who you are. Now,
- 1:10Speaker 1: this is provided now that you take the positive approach. Now,
- 1:15Speaker 1: when I say look back at your life and see
- 1:17Speaker 1: what you've done, that doesn't mean dwell on the misfortunate
- 1:20Speaker 1: moments because the misfortunate moments were necessary. I know it's
- 1:25Speaker 1: hard to see that when it's happening to you, but
- 1:28Speaker 1: the unfortunate moments are necessary. You know, what really makes
- 1:32Speaker 1: you appreciate summer vacation is winter work. What really makes
- 1:38Speaker 1: you appreciate a walk on the beach is when it's cold,
- 1:41Speaker 1: it's raining outside. What really makes you appreciate when you're
- 1:46Speaker 1: up is because you've been down. See, if you were
- 1:50Speaker 1: up all the time, Just the nature of us as
- 1:54Speaker 1: human beings, we would lose our appreciation for it because
- 1:57Speaker 1: it becomes que sera, whatever it is. Well, it is
- 2:00Speaker 1: what it is. I'm just a what, what, what? You
- 2:03Speaker 1: take it for granted. It becomes expected. But what happens
- 2:06Speaker 1: in life is it has so many twists and turns.
- 2:09Speaker 1: And then you learn how to deal with those twists
- 2:12Speaker 1: and turns, which makes you now a more experienced person.
- 2:15Speaker 1: And then when the sunny days come, man, you go, wow,
- 2:18Speaker 1: it's really nice outside. You really want to appreciate how
- 2:21Speaker 1: warm weather, just stay in a bunch of cold weather
- 2:24Speaker 1: all the time. You know what I'm saying? This is
- 2:27Speaker 1: really simple analogies, but it helps you along the way. Now,
- 2:32Speaker 1: here's what I came to say today to everybody out there.
- 2:36Speaker 1: And this has helped me in my life. I can't
- 2:39Speaker 1: tell you what is done for me. But a lot
- 2:43Speaker 1: of people are struggling with moving forward with their future,
- 2:47Speaker 1: their future plans. their future goals, their future aspirations, their
- 2:54Speaker 1: future hopes, their future dreams. Just simply your future wants.
- 3:00Speaker 1: A lot of people trying to have a hard time
- 3:02Speaker 1: mapping out their future. Even what I'm going to do,
- 3:06Speaker 1: what I'm going to be, what I'm going to make,
- 3:09Speaker 1: how I'm going to go about it. What do I
- 3:11Speaker 1: do next? I want to share something with you that
- 3:14Speaker 1: I had to come to terms with. The quickest way
- 3:17Speaker 1: to lose focus is on your future is to keep
- 3:21Speaker 1: focusing on your past. You know, it's like I said
- 3:24Speaker 1: at the beginning, you know, when I say it's wonderful
- 3:27Speaker 1: to look at your life and review it, because if
- 3:30Speaker 1: you look at it, it'll tell you it really helped
- 3:34Speaker 1: shape and form you today as the person you are. Now,
- 3:38Speaker 1: if you look at it in a positive sense, but
- 3:41Speaker 1: if you dwell and harp on the negative that's happened
- 3:43Speaker 1: to you, then that keeps you from seeing the good
- 3:47Speaker 1: in the incident. Every bad thing that's happened to you,
- 3:51Speaker 1: there was a silver lining behind it. I know people
- 3:54Speaker 1: who were on drugs, who finally, man, just got sent
- 3:57Speaker 1: to prison for stealing because of their habit. I know
- 4:00Speaker 1: a character that's so dope. Well, he went to prison.
- 4:04Speaker 1: He told me one time, he said, Steve, he said, man,
- 4:07Speaker 1: this is the best thing that ever happened to me.
- 4:08Speaker 1: This saved my life. Now, most people would think, how
- 4:12Speaker 1: in the world is going to prison helpful for you.
- 4:15Speaker 1: The brother said it saved my life. First of all,
- 4:19Speaker 1: it got me clean. He said, I've been clean for
- 4:22Speaker 1: five years from sitting in here. That's for starters. I'm clean.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I ain't stealing no more. I ain't putting myself in
- 4:29Speaker 1: jeopardy and I ain't jeopardizing nobody else. He said, nah, man,
- 4:33Speaker 1: I don't went to college. I didn't got a college
- 4:35Speaker 1: degree while I'm in here. Then he was released from
- 4:39Speaker 1: prison and the brother's life was completely turned around. He
- 4:43Speaker 1: married He got a family. He got a great job.
- 4:47Speaker 1: He go to work every day. He's a productive citizen.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I mean, so he looks back on his incarceration, even
- 4:55Speaker 1: his drug abuse, and it taught him how to appreciate
- 4:59Speaker 1: the things in life that he had taken for granted
- 5:02Speaker 1: and was missing. Because he said, man, my life was
- 5:04Speaker 1: just in a blur. I didn't even know what was
- 5:07Speaker 1: going on. He said, now I appreciate every day I
- 5:10Speaker 1: wake up. That's what I mean. Even in your missteps
- 5:14Speaker 1: in life, there is a purpose for the missteps. Every
- 5:17Speaker 1: time you fail, there was a reason for the failure. See,
- 5:22Speaker 1: what I had to do was I had to learn
- 5:24Speaker 1: that all of my failures taught me how to get
- 5:26Speaker 1: back up. So I became a very strong and tough
- 5:30Speaker 1: person in getting back up. And then I was down
- 5:34Speaker 1: and out so long that it taught me how to
- 5:37Speaker 1: really appreciate the up. And so I've taken all of
- 5:40Speaker 1: that and used it, those experiences that happened to me,
- 5:45Speaker 1: and I became a more experienced person. So next time
- 5:48Speaker 1: when people talk about me who don't know me, it
- 5:51Speaker 1: don't shake me because everybody's not going to like you, man.
- 5:55Speaker 1: You might as well go and get on this train
- 5:57Speaker 1: right now. And so what I'm saying to you out
- 6:00Speaker 1: there is the quickest way to lose focus on your
- 6:03Speaker 1: future is to keep focusing on your past. Let it go. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 6:08Speaker 1: he left. Sometimes the breakup is the blessing. I know
- 6:12Speaker 1: it's hard to break up because now you're lonely and
- 6:14Speaker 1: you're by yourself. But man, but when you in misery,
- 6:17Speaker 1: when you was in that, weren't you in complete misery
- 6:21Speaker 1: in that? Now you kept asking God to fix it,
- 6:24Speaker 1: but it take two people to fix a relationship. It
- 6:27Speaker 1: don't just take one. It take two to make a
- 6:30Speaker 1: thing go right. It take two to make it out
- 6:33Speaker 1: of sight. You really do have to have two people
- 6:37Speaker 1: wanting a relationship to work. It can't just be one
- 6:39Speaker 1: person wanting a relationship. So you can pray about the
- 6:42Speaker 1: relationship all you want. If the other person don't want
- 6:45Speaker 1: you no more and ain't going to act right, you
- 6:47Speaker 1: can't make him do that. Or you can't make her
- 6:50Speaker 1: do that. But you steady asking God for a new relationship.
- 6:55Speaker 1: But you are yet to be grateful that you are
- 6:59Speaker 1: in a position to have a relationship and you keep
- 7:02Speaker 1: harping on the past. You don't think you hear that?
- 7:05Speaker 1: I'm just a dude with a show and I hear
- 7:07Speaker 1: it all the time. Let it go. Go forward. It's over.
- 7:11Speaker 1: You made it. He brought you through it. You conquered.
- 7:16Speaker 1: You survived it. Why are you dwelling on it and
- 7:20Speaker 1: making it the cross around your neck when clearly he
- 7:23Speaker 1: had removed it for you? Now, all you got to
- 7:26Speaker 1: do is come on. So if you're sitting behind them walls,
- 7:29Speaker 1: brothers and sisters, I'm talking directly to you. Sometimes, man,
- 7:33Speaker 1: you just got to get it right. All this repeat
- 7:36Speaker 1: offender business, that's for who is that for? How ignorant
- 7:40Speaker 1: can you be to keep giving your life back to
- 7:43Speaker 1: the penal system? Be free, man. Walk the streets. Do
- 7:47Speaker 1: the right thing. Ask God to help connect you. He
- 7:49Speaker 1: could do anything. You think he can't give you a job?
- 7:52Speaker 1: Are you serious, man? Put some faith on it. Let's
- 7:55Speaker 1: move forward, y'all. Let it go. Let's move. You're listening
- 7:58Speaker 1: to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
