- 0:00Speaker 1: Phil and Tish.
- 0:01Speaker 2: So we have a radio show on p BA FM
- 0:04Speaker 2: every Wednesday night's been going for about seven eight years,
- 0:09Speaker 2: seven or eight years now.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Rock Out with and We Trying Rock Yeah p b A.
- 0:15Speaker 3: FM every Wednesday night. We are nine pm Australian Central
- 0:19Speaker 3: Standard time. We are your local insane metal heads, anything
- 0:25Speaker 3: that you love all the way from bon Jovi or
- 0:28Speaker 3: even something softer like Warrant Stronger Now all the way
- 0:32Speaker 3: through to I think we've even played Fetid Gore on
- 0:35Speaker 3: the show. So we're very much a variety show of
- 0:39Speaker 3: heavy and hard rock.
- 0:41Speaker 4: I think you selling yourselves a bit short by saying
- 0:43Speaker 4: local though, because I usually got it usually national repute.
- 0:46Speaker 4: You guys. Everybody knows and loves you.
- 0:50Speaker 1: That's all. Thank you.
- 0:52Speaker 2: We've actually got a dude in the Netherlands, got a
- 0:54Speaker 2: rock hard with filing Tish Tatoo. Yeah, which is that's
- 0:57Speaker 2: that's our plane to fame, you know.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Yeah, not a bad looking I don't either. It come
- 1:00Speaker 4: out pretty well.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Not bad at all. I'm not doing it. Yeah, it's me,
- 1:06Speaker 1: I'll do it. But that's also good.
- 1:09Speaker 4: But aside from the fact that you have got one
- 1:11Speaker 4: of the best radio shows in Australia. You're also about
- 1:14Speaker 4: to put on rock Hard Festival, which is going to
- 1:16Speaker 4: be the first time we've ever done it at Walsh
- 1:18Speaker 4: Woodshed in Royal Park, Adelaide over October tenth and eleventh. Like,
- 1:23Speaker 4: that's not too far awake, how's the tracking is? Is
- 1:26Speaker 4: on target?
- 1:27Speaker 1: It's good? Then it's good. It's like, you know, Adelaide's Adelaide.
- 1:31Speaker 2: So you know, we have a big, you know, booming
- 1:34Speaker 2: tickets and then it slows down and then it picks
- 1:36Speaker 2: up again.
- 1:37Speaker 1: But we know what Adelaid's like. But now it's cool.
- 1:39Speaker 2: We were good mates with Ace from Woodshed, the owner
- 1:42Speaker 2: of Woodshed, and he'd been talking to us about it
- 1:45Speaker 2: for a while.
- 1:45Speaker 3: He started talking to us about it, and then I
- 1:48Speaker 3: got pregnant and I had to spend my entirety of
- 1:50Speaker 3: my pregnancy saying Ace, let me have the baby, let
- 1:54Speaker 3: me have the baby, let me have the baby.
- 1:55Speaker 5: And I think it was the week I was induced
- 1:58Speaker 5: to have the baby.
- 1:59Speaker 3: He said, all right, guys, come up for an come
- 2:02Speaker 3: up for a meeting while Woodshed's closed, and we started
- 2:05Speaker 3: to finalize everything for this just a it's a pike
- 2:10Speaker 3: dream really like I never thought I would host a yeah,
- 2:15Speaker 3: a music festival, let alone. I guess we're the promoters
- 2:18Speaker 3: of it too, and it's it's.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Wild, it's good fun.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Though we've picked, they're all bands we've have relationships with
- 2:25Speaker 2: over the journey, So I think that's the thing.
- 2:27Speaker 1: It's bands where fans of I mean the poor I
- 2:31Speaker 1: was fourteen.
- 2:32Speaker 2: When I got into them, and it actually annoys me
- 2:34Speaker 2: because Skin is older than me, and I'll look at
- 2:36Speaker 2: a hell of what.
- 2:40Speaker 1: He doesn't by the age.
- 2:41Speaker 2: But yeah, I've been a fan of them since I
- 2:43Speaker 2: was fourteen, and actually before Tisch joined the shows, about
- 2:46Speaker 2: a week before she joined the show, he was the
- 2:50Speaker 2: first interview I did where I actually reached out to
- 2:53Speaker 2: someone that I grew up enjoying their music, and I thought,
- 2:57Speaker 2: I'll shoot him a message.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'm going to fire a shot and see what he says.
- 3:01Speaker 2: And a couple of weeks later he came back and
- 3:02Speaker 2: he said, yeah, I'm you know, I'd love to have
- 3:05Speaker 2: a chat.
- 3:05Speaker 1: And chatted to him for about an now on the show.
- 3:07Speaker 2: And because I'm such a fan these guys to meet
- 3:10Speaker 2: love when you're fourteen, they're like larger than life rock
- 3:13Speaker 2: stars and to think, you know, he's having a chat
- 3:15Speaker 2: on our show and you know, probably opened up the
- 3:19Speaker 2: courage to be able to interview other bands and stuff
- 3:22Speaker 2: that we've loved. But yeah, it's literally every band that
- 3:26Speaker 2: we've got on this festival just great bossie bands and
- 3:29Speaker 2: we're so stoked that they've agreed to play.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Yeah, and absolutely apologies to all the other bands that
- 3:35Speaker 3: we haven't been able to squeeze on. We weren't able
- 3:38Speaker 3: to do a massive car park festival this year. I
- 3:40Speaker 3: think we put up the post about doing the festival
- 3:43Speaker 3: and we had probably close to, if not over one
- 3:46Speaker 3: hundred different bands we want to play, we want to play?
- 3:50Speaker 5: Can we play? And I think that's been the hardest thing.
- 3:53Speaker 3: You know, of course you got the promoting and everything,
- 3:55Speaker 3: but yeah, I'm sure like yourself as well, you have
- 3:58Speaker 3: personal relationships with them.
- 4:00Speaker 5: Is all these bands and sitting.
- 4:02Speaker 3: There trying to work out and curate such a killer
- 4:06Speaker 3: line up with the best we can provide was just
- 4:09Speaker 3: so difficult.
- 4:11Speaker 4: To try to pick a favorite child, isn't it?
- 4:14Speaker 1: And there's many other favorite children that we're just gonna
- 4:16Speaker 1: get on. But we still love that.
- 4:19Speaker 4: You guys have been doing this for a while hour
- 4:21Speaker 4: as you say, so why decide that now it is
- 4:23Speaker 4: the right time to do your own festival.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I think that was just like Adelaide for me.
- 4:28Speaker 2: The Woodshed is such a great venue in Adelaide. You know,
- 4:33Speaker 2: as as rock metal lovers, you sort of walk in
- 4:36Speaker 2: that place and it feels like home.
- 4:38Speaker 5: There's just the elder door.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah, music from the elder door.
- 4:42Speaker 2: When you walk in, there's you know, skid row guitars,
- 4:45Speaker 2: there's just pictures of all our all our idols sort
- 4:48Speaker 2: of growing up and going to the gigs there and
- 4:51Speaker 2: seeing the show. It was like, this is such a
- 4:53Speaker 2: great a great venue for Adelaide, and I think a
- 4:56Speaker 2: great venue for rock and heavy music in Australia, So
- 5:00Speaker 2: why not like that?
- 5:01Speaker 1: I think that's for a perfect time.
- 5:03Speaker 2: We've got a great venue, you know, run by you
- 5:06Speaker 2: know some of our best mates and to be able
- 5:08Speaker 2: to bring some of our favorite bands out there.
- 5:10Speaker 1: It's just it had to happen. We had to do it.
- 5:13Speaker 4: It had to. You mentioned that the amount of bands
- 5:15Speaker 4: you had to choose from, like, well, what's the court
- 5:17Speaker 4: process with booking and like you're lock in the headliner
- 5:19Speaker 4: and then try and find bands that will suit with
- 5:21Speaker 4: that audio. From the start, you work through regardless.
- 5:25Speaker 3: But us the way we sort of did it. We
- 5:27Speaker 3: had I think at the time it was three potential headliners,
- 5:33Speaker 3: and then we worked out, I'm terrible at music terms,
- 5:37Speaker 3: so I'm going to use wrestling terms, so we worked
- 5:38Speaker 3: out the mid card thereafter, so you know, get your
- 5:42Speaker 3: made events there and then your mid card. The mid
- 5:44Speaker 3: card was set pretty much just after the first discussion
- 5:49Speaker 3: that we had, minus a couple of bands that could
- 5:51Speaker 3: have hume because of prior to obligations or family obligations,
- 5:55Speaker 3: So it was sort of what can we do that's
- 5:58Speaker 3: a variety. So Chainsaw Bridges you've got there from Adelaide.
- 6:01Speaker 3: They're a little bit more of your punk band. Then
- 6:03Speaker 3: you've got your girl and a little bit country flavor,
- 6:07Speaker 3: now with Carlie Jewel mixing your blaze as well to
- 6:12Speaker 3: get that really I think for me and I think
- 6:14Speaker 3: you're the same that really broad mix of all music
- 6:18Speaker 3: and Shadow Maliki and Terror Access bring in a little
- 6:21Speaker 3: bit more of a heavy side as well.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's I think, you know, we couldn't go
- 6:25Speaker 2: super heavy with the lineup, but I reckon it's one
- 6:30Speaker 2: of those one of those shows that anyone could sort
- 6:33Speaker 2: of go to a few. If you like rock music,
- 6:35Speaker 2: if you like hard rock and metal, there's going to
- 6:38Speaker 2: be something for you. And these bands, we fucking love
- 6:42Speaker 2: every single one of them. Like That's the reason we
- 6:44Speaker 2: do it is because we're fans. And you know what
- 6:48Speaker 2: I want is I want people to come to this
- 6:50Speaker 2: show and they see like a band like Gentoo for
- 6:53Speaker 2: the first time, and they walk away going these guys
- 6:56Speaker 2: are amazing, and they go out and buy their by
- 6:58Speaker 2: their album, by their merchandise.
- 7:00Speaker 1: That's the whole reason we do the radio show.
- 7:02Speaker 2: That's the reason that we're doing this is we want
- 7:04Speaker 2: people to sort of experience those experiences that we have
- 7:08Speaker 2: with these bands.
- 7:10Speaker 1: So I can't wait.
- 7:11Speaker 4: No look through the bands and there's probably ninety percent
- 7:14Speaker 4: of them I have heard before, and I reckon is
- 7:16Speaker 4: not like the bands you've got on in ten years time,
- 7:19Speaker 4: I can see them still being going. But in the
- 7:21Speaker 4: next level of Australian music. You have done well with
- 7:24Speaker 4: the choices.
- 7:25Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 7:25Speaker 3: I think a band on the list that was one
- 7:30Speaker 3: of the first I mentioned, and it is that sort
- 7:32Speaker 3: of looking at the projection of that.
- 7:34Speaker 5: Band for me was Lon the Empire.
- 7:37Speaker 3: There are a bunch of teenagers and to me, it's Yes,
- 7:39Speaker 3: it's a different music style, but it's it's almost akin
- 7:42Speaker 3: to the Runaways. You know, these kids wanting to take
- 7:45Speaker 3: on the world kick ass. When they're on stage. It's
- 7:48Speaker 3: like fucking Energizer bunnies. They're absolutely mental. But all I
- 7:53Speaker 3: can see for them is them being that next big
- 7:58Speaker 3: thing and in a couple of years they're so young
- 8:01Speaker 3: that they've got that time to build.
- 8:03Speaker 5: That was a huge thing.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Yeah. I pretty much know the answer this one, but
- 8:08Speaker 4: I want to hear it from your mouth. Was there
- 8:10Speaker 4: ever any thoughts to an international headliner or did you
- 8:13Speaker 4: know that Ossie bands were good enough?
- 8:14Speaker 1: Ozzie, there's hundreds good enough. You know. I think.
- 8:19Speaker 2: We look and we love, we love international bands, and
- 8:23Speaker 2: it would be amazing to have like an international band
- 8:26Speaker 2: band headline. But this is you know, this for us,
- 8:30Speaker 2: at least this years is very much completely about people
- 8:34Speaker 2: hearing great Bossie music and that's what we're here to support.
- 8:38Speaker 2: And I could say every single band on this bill
- 8:41Speaker 2: will blow you away live, like it's one of those
- 8:44Speaker 2: those shows like because we've seen everyone. Yeah, we've seen
- 8:48Speaker 2: everyone on this on this line up live, but war Beds.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I haven't seen war beds yet. Sorry, I'm super excited
- 8:55Speaker 2: to see. But every single band here know how to
- 9:00Speaker 2: work a crowd. They're you know they're going to play.
- 9:03Speaker 2: They play it like it's a stadium, so.
- 9:07Speaker 1: I can't wait.
- 9:08Speaker 5: No, it's it's awesome.
- 9:09Speaker 3: I think maybe the only international and it's a we're
- 9:13Speaker 3: going to take them and claim them as Aura and
- 9:15Speaker 3: would be Phil's band Devil Skin probably the closest, you know,
- 9:22Speaker 3: because we can't help it here in Australia and go
- 9:24Speaker 3: oh yeah, double Skin and then you're oh, ship, no,
- 9:26Speaker 3: hang on throwing them back over.
- 9:28Speaker 4: And walking you got that key accidents not hours go back.
- 9:34Speaker 1: That's what we do with it. We claim everyone from
- 9:36Speaker 1: the New Zealand the two with the Likes.
- 9:39Speaker 4: I only actually saw The Poor about three days ago
- 9:42Speaker 4: and they're they're on fire and the new base player
- 9:44Speaker 4: squ is fucking good. Like I thought it was going
- 9:46Speaker 4: to take a lot to replace money, which you will. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 4: he was pretty bloody good.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Their last album is It's amazing, such a roturn to formula.
- 9:57Speaker 2: I think that that's a great thing about The Poor
- 9:59Speaker 2: is you know they're not a band who like they're
- 10:03Speaker 2: just energized.
- 10:04Speaker 1: You can you can hear that the passions there and
- 10:07Speaker 1: they kick ours lives.
- 10:08Speaker 2: We saw Skinny a couple of weeks weeks ago with
- 10:11Speaker 2: the Filthy Animals came down by Dave Leslie's.
- 10:15Speaker 5: That was the best.
- 10:16Speaker 2: What a son cannot wait? And this is super exciting
- 10:21Speaker 2: as well. This is like my child with dream. We
- 10:24Speaker 2: have a brewer doing a rock hard festival beer that's
- 10:28Speaker 2: going to be canned and keyed, yeah, for the for
- 10:31Speaker 2: the event, and the brewery is being o evil who
- 10:34Speaker 2: Adelaide Brewery who are very much they combined metal with
- 10:40Speaker 2: their big metal heads metal beer. They produce some of
- 10:43Speaker 2: the best beers in Australia, some of the highest rated
- 10:45Speaker 2: beers in Australia, and they asked if they could get
- 10:47Speaker 2: on board and do a rock hard festival beer six.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Point West Coast I pas exclusive and then looking at
- 10:58Speaker 3: going and make so people can buy it and take
- 11:01Speaker 3: home our little devilish face.
- 11:03Speaker 4: I really can, right, And it's smart from you guys too,
- 11:05Speaker 4: because actually drink writers covered for all the bands, So aren't.
- 11:08Speaker 1: It absolutely the great?
- 11:12Speaker 6: That look I don't know if you're a drinking creepy
- 11:19Speaker 6: amazing So I can't wait to I can't wait to
- 11:22Speaker 6: have a try that.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Because I've gotta have variety, Right, you're a lady.
- 11:32Speaker 5: I don't know about both of those ones.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Speaking of the pool, you've got them headlining both nights
- 11:39Speaker 4: on the Friday or the Saturday light. You do know
- 11:41Speaker 4: that you're going to have to sign one person is
- 11:43Speaker 4: skiiny for Friday night to make sure he gets some
- 11:45Speaker 4: sleep before Saturday.
- 11:48Speaker 5: There's at wood Shed.
- 11:49Speaker 3: There's like these tiny little levels above the bar and
- 11:53Speaker 3: across from the bar. I'm thinking we may have to
- 11:56Speaker 3: lay out like a little mattress and the swagons.
- 11:58Speaker 5: Dude, get up there. We'll bring you back freezing in
- 12:01Speaker 5: the morning all.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Nights, ushering him to the door. If if I come,
- 12:06Speaker 4: I'll do that for you. I'll take that on.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Perfect, We'll just get you like a T shirt like
- 12:11Speaker 3: skinny person behinder.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Yes, I love it would be brilliant.
- 12:17Speaker 4: So I'm on that subject. I think, I hope I'm
- 12:20Speaker 4: righty it. But it was originally only going to be Saturday.
- 12:22Speaker 4: That he added the Friday as well, So why decide
- 12:24Speaker 4: to have the poor headline both nights to grab another
- 12:26Speaker 4: headliner in because we love them?
- 12:28Speaker 2: Yeah? Like, and you know what they're coming down to
- 12:32Speaker 2: our late for it as well. We want to make
- 12:33Speaker 2: it worth their while as well. And I love, absolutely
- 12:38Speaker 2: love seeing these guys live, and it was a really
- 12:39Speaker 2: good opportunity for us to give them a second sort
- 12:42Speaker 2: of headliner show. And you know, it was also a
- 12:46Speaker 2: good excuse to bring on my Audio Rain and More
- 12:49Speaker 2: Birds and the Empire because Audio Rain, you know, if
- 12:52Speaker 2: you haven't seen them live before, they are a ripping
- 12:54Speaker 2: live band.
- 12:55Speaker 1: They're actually the first band I believe that I had.
- 12:58Speaker 2: In the studio for an interview, which would have been
- 13:01Speaker 2: back in like twenty eighteen. So it's it's kind of
- 13:04Speaker 2: cool to have the first band we had in the
- 13:06Speaker 2: studio for an interview and also the first band that
- 13:09Speaker 2: I reached out to directly to have a chat with,
- 13:13Speaker 2: So lit.
- 13:14Speaker 4: The Audio Raid one still probably one of your longest too,
- 13:16Speaker 4: because Jake doesn't fucking shut up, doesn't he He can talk,
- 13:19Speaker 4: that bastard.
- 13:20Speaker 1: We loved, We love Jake.
- 13:22Speaker 2: He's so cool because we we'd sort of we had
- 13:25Speaker 2: planned the Friday gig for a while and I was
- 13:27Speaker 2: just like, Jake.
- 13:30Speaker 1: You can't say and he's like when when when?
- 13:32Speaker 2: And we're like, just chill, we'll put it out there. Eventually,
- 13:36Speaker 2: but no, we couldn't have done it without without you know,
- 13:39Speaker 2: obviously having Audio Rain one of the best Aussie hard
- 13:43Speaker 2: rock bands is definitely want to assis South Asie bands.
- 13:47Speaker 1: As well, so they put on a crack and show
- 13:49Speaker 1: it's gonna be awesome.
- 13:50Speaker 4: Now I don't know the exact figures, but I do
- 13:52Speaker 4: know what I was looking through it too. You is,
- 13:53Speaker 4: you're selling single day tickets for a weekend tickets. But
- 13:56Speaker 4: the best part I saw about that was the single
- 13:59Speaker 4: tickets if you brought to or there, it wasn't much
- 14:02Speaker 4: less much more than if you've got a whole weekend past.
- 14:05Speaker 4: So yeah, I think it's five dollars different, so you
- 14:07Speaker 4: may as well get the whole weekend.
- 14:08Speaker 3: And definitely, and you know, if we're being realistic where
- 14:14Speaker 3: people who go to gigs outside of our radio show
- 14:17Speaker 3: where normal have to work nine to five jobs, I
- 14:20Speaker 3: think a huge thing was having a stellar lineup and
- 14:24Speaker 3: having it as accessible as possible. You know, it's not
- 14:29Speaker 3: where you have to go or typically I'm not you know,
- 14:32Speaker 3: not painting everyone the same brush, but you wouldn't typically
- 14:34Speaker 3: I for a lineup like this, and the pricing of
- 14:36Speaker 3: our tickets need to go all right, I've got to
- 14:39Speaker 3: say up.
- 14:39Speaker 5: Whereas other acts.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Even though he's my favorite singer of all time, charging
- 14:46Speaker 3: one hundred dollars for a small room, yeah, for one
- 14:50Speaker 3: forty five minute show, whereas with US, you get you know,
- 14:53Speaker 3: is it eleven or twelve incredible different bands, almost half
- 14:57Speaker 3: of them in South Australian. It's I think if I
- 15:01Speaker 3: wasn't US, I would have snapped up tickets straight away.
- 15:06Speaker 4: Yeah, there's also a deal, I believe the T shirt.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Yes, so you get like a sexy Zombi fire two headed.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Why did you headed?
- 15:19Speaker 1: Man?
- 15:19Speaker 2: I've been drinking and which is actually annoying because I
- 15:24Speaker 2: didn't know you were going to.
- 15:25Speaker 5: Have I'm having because I'm so nervous being on the
- 15:28Speaker 5: other side from.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Drinking water with a winning the poop blast the metal.
- 15:35Speaker 2: But I don't know why. It just got stuck on
- 15:36Speaker 2: my head. It's going to be like a zombie two
- 15:38Speaker 2: headed version of us. And T was like, that's stupid. Now,
- 15:44Speaker 2: just let's do it. Let's do it, and we we
- 15:47Speaker 2: got this this dude on in Indonesia. I'm fiver in
- 15:52Speaker 2: Indonesia to put it together, and it's such a cool
- 15:56Speaker 2: it's going to be like on the T shirt, it's
- 15:58Speaker 2: going to be.
- 16:00Speaker 1: We're going to do some stubby holders.
- 16:02Speaker 2: We're also going to have that as the it's going
- 16:04Speaker 2: to be the can design. With being all evil, the
- 16:07Speaker 2: only thing is right. He's taken photos of us, and
- 16:09Speaker 2: this is the bit that that message with my head
- 16:12Speaker 2: a little bit. He's taken photos and if you look
- 16:14Speaker 2: at the photo, I've got a I've got a really
- 16:16Speaker 2: big move. So so he's looked at he's looked at
- 16:21Speaker 2: the picture of me and he's like, he's got ample
- 16:24Speaker 2: titty space. He he has, he's given He's giving me
- 16:27Speaker 2: a tit and I'm like, I can't.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I can't argue it because I kin'd.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Of That's the breast part of it.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I was thinking maybe it's my pictorial muscles, but it's
- 16:38Speaker 2: definitely you did it a great job.
- 16:41Speaker 3: If you need anything, if you're a band of business, anything,
- 16:44Speaker 3: reach out to him on Instagram. His handle is actually
- 16:47Speaker 3: just Indonesian Artists incredible job.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Cool Now. We spoke about this a little bit before,
- 16:56Speaker 4: but not only putting on Australia you are the best
- 16:59Speaker 4: metal hard rock festival. You guys also do have a
- 17:01Speaker 4: weekly radio show from nine till midnight on every Wednesday
- 17:05Speaker 4: night on pp AFM eighty nine point seven. So tell
- 17:09Speaker 4: us about that, Like when did you start it, what's
- 17:11Speaker 4: your goal with it?
- 17:12Speaker 2: Like, yeah, I started, Yeah, I started back in I Reckon.
- 17:16Speaker 2: It was twenty eighteen and it was just a one
- 17:19Speaker 2: hour show and did it every Saturday avough. Then I
- 17:22Speaker 2: got offered the every Saturday afternoon. Then I got offered
- 17:26Speaker 2: a three hour slot on Wednesday nights. I started doing it.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Tish had done Australian Radio School through Sean Craig Murphy
- 17:33Speaker 2: at Triple In, which I've done a few years before that,
- 17:36Speaker 2: and I saw a photo of her and she had
- 17:38Speaker 2: a she had a youth gone wild tatoo. She had
- 17:41Speaker 2: at the time completely balled youth gone wild tatoo. And
- 17:45Speaker 2: I reached out to Sean and like watch Tish, like,
- 17:47Speaker 2: you know, because I'd like to get a co host.
- 17:51Speaker 2: He's like, she's she's mad. Yeah, So got her on
- 17:55Speaker 2: board and then yeah, we've been doing it now for
- 17:58Speaker 2: like I said, seven years or so.
- 18:00Speaker 1: It's been awesome.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Man. We get to play the whole reason in the
- 18:04Speaker 2: same way as a festival. We do it because we
- 18:06Speaker 2: love music and we want people to have those experiences
- 18:09Speaker 2: with the songs that we have because we're just massive
- 18:11Speaker 2: music fans and along the way we've been able to
- 18:14Speaker 2: interview some of our.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Absolute heroes Australian internationally.
- 18:19Speaker 2: You know, if someone said to me when I started
- 18:21Speaker 2: this show that we would have the opportunities that we've
- 18:23Speaker 2: had based on it, it's yeah, I wouldn't have thought it.
- 18:28Speaker 3: We got married as well, oh yeah, we met, got married,
- 18:31Speaker 3: but that's nothing.
- 18:33Speaker 2: The number one highlight is still this festival with the poor.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Not for your radio boys, you know that, Yeah, exactly right.
- 18:42Speaker 1: You know.
- 18:42Speaker 3: For me, it was I and I hate to say
- 18:46Speaker 3: the line, but I'm one of those people that it's
- 18:49Speaker 3: like born in the wrong generation. Although I think if
- 18:51Speaker 3: I was born earlier and grew up in the eighties,
- 18:54Speaker 3: I probably would have died by the time it got
- 18:56Speaker 3: to live ninety two.
- 18:57Speaker 5: I wouldn't have survived.
- 18:58Speaker 3: But myigest stream since I was about fifteen sixteen years old,
- 19:03Speaker 3: I wanted to be Ricky Rackman. I wanted to be
- 19:06Speaker 3: head bangers Ball, That's all I wanted to do. So
- 19:09Speaker 3: radio for me was like, Okay, MTV is a load
- 19:12Speaker 3: of shit. Now, can't really do much. I was trying
- 19:16Speaker 3: to do stuff on a YouTube platform. Can't really do
- 19:19Speaker 3: much on there with music because of all the copyright
- 19:23Speaker 3: and everything, which is fair enough. Bands need to own
- 19:25Speaker 3: their music or production companies and record companies need to
- 19:28Speaker 3: own their music and get their money.
- 19:31Speaker 5: So it was sort of like okay radio.
- 19:33Speaker 4: I went to a.
- 19:34Speaker 5: Steel Panther concert.
- 19:35Speaker 3: The morning after that, I was sat in after partying
- 19:38Speaker 3: with them at Frankie's. I sat in Terminal twenty three
- 19:41Speaker 3: in Sydney Airport and my friend's like, you're applying to
- 19:43Speaker 3: Australian radio school and that was it. You reached out
- 19:47Speaker 3: to me, and I think within our first phone call
- 19:50Speaker 3: the following day, it was like did we just become
- 19:52Speaker 3: best friends?
- 19:54Speaker 5: Like it was?
- 19:55Speaker 1: It was?
- 19:56Speaker 3: It was, though, it was like so instit. Straight away
- 20:01Speaker 3: you were like, what's your favorite song? Mine's wanted generalized
- 20:03Speaker 3: by bomb job and I would no, Sharp Minds wanted
- 20:05Speaker 3: generalized by bomb Jovi.
- 20:10Speaker 1: CD. Though doesn't it.
- 20:12Speaker 4: I'm not going to highlight that bit of the interview
- 20:13Speaker 4: and just make sure that goes out.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Do you know what we named ourselves, Richie.
- 20:17Speaker 1: We don't lose any credit.
- 20:19Speaker 3: But it was, you know, as soon as as our
- 20:22Speaker 3: show started building and we started finding out we have
- 20:25Speaker 3: listeners in the Netherlands and England and New Jersey. I
- 20:31Speaker 3: think we've had listeners before in South America as well.
- 20:37Speaker 3: That was huge to me because it was like, Okay,
- 20:39Speaker 3: this was my goal was to be on a platform
- 20:41Speaker 3: where I share music I love. I'm sharing Australian bands
- 20:45Speaker 3: with people legitimately the other side of the world, and
- 20:49Speaker 3: it's built from there and I think, my I don't
- 20:53Speaker 3: know about you, but my long term goal, I guess,
- 20:56Speaker 3: and the direction I want the show to go in
- 20:59Speaker 3: is to you just become that premiere hard rock, heavy
- 21:05Speaker 3: metal show, the place that bands want to be interviewed.
- 21:08Speaker 5: Like the Dreadful Tides.
- 21:09Speaker 1: We were the.
- 21:10Speaker 3: First radio show and they ever reached out to and
- 21:12Speaker 3: that was a huge honor to give them a little
- 21:15Speaker 3: jump start. You know.
- 21:16Speaker 5: I'd love it if it was behind the music.
- 21:19Speaker 3: And they talked to us and we're like, yeah, this
- 21:20Speaker 3: band doesn't talk to us anymore.
- 21:23Speaker 5: They're super big, but we.
- 21:24Speaker 7: Gave them their first job, and for me, I'd love
- 21:29Speaker 7: it if we could maybe branch into and we've discussed
- 21:32Speaker 7: this with Ace of woodshed is Fill and Tish Presents,
- 21:36Speaker 7: which would be your one off shows. So for the
- 21:40Speaker 7: sake of the argument, mammal, bring them down because they're killer.
- 21:43Speaker 5: Play them at woodshed and look at building.
- 21:46Speaker 3: I guess the live stuff now because for so long
- 21:50Speaker 3: of our show, in particular, you know, I joined in
- 21:53Speaker 3: June twenty nineteen, so for so long of our show
- 21:56Speaker 3: it was everything's inside, everyone's shut down.
- 21:59Speaker 5: So to take it out on a live arena would
- 22:03Speaker 5: be huge.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Nice. I see the show is actually recorded live as well.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Like that's a bit dangerous, isn't it.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Yeah, it is happy.
- 22:15Speaker 2: We've always we've always done the show live. It's it's funny.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I reckon that. The lady you get, the looser it gets,
- 22:21Speaker 2: so once ad is that all the more time we
- 22:23Speaker 2: are and we.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Just play a song. But yeah, it's it's more fun
- 22:27Speaker 1: doing it live. I reckon that.
- 22:29Speaker 2: The first show I did, I was going to a
- 22:32Speaker 2: fully game, and this is when it was the one
- 22:34Speaker 2: hour show, and I pre recorded it and I'd stuff
- 22:38Speaker 2: up the introl all the time, So you just keep
- 22:40Speaker 2: replaying it, and it's like, he cares, it's fine if
- 22:43Speaker 2: you stuff up your stuff up.
- 22:44Speaker 3: I think I'm the only one who said fuck out
- 22:46Speaker 3: of the two of us on the show. And that
- 22:48Speaker 3: I blamed Phil for because he called me the day
- 22:51Speaker 3: after I had surgery. Although the day I had surgery,
- 22:55Speaker 3: so I'm off my head on like morphine and painting
- 22:58Speaker 3: blockers and everything.
- 23:00Speaker 5: He's like, hey, on, what.
- 23:04Speaker 4: You into that? What's what's the funniest worst thing to
- 23:07Speaker 4: happen to you guys? Live on the Mango?
- 23:10Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we interviewed Mango from a Blaze and.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Everything went wrong. I didn't think we were going on air.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I didn't know what was happening.
- 23:21Speaker 2: And then we we finally got off the interview after
- 23:25Speaker 2: it just me running away every five seconds. I thought
- 23:27Speaker 2: something had happened and it just wasn't going to air,
- 23:30Speaker 2: And then I forgot to turn the microphone off and
- 23:33Speaker 2: we're yeah, I'm so sorry, this is such so much
- 23:38Speaker 2: blah blah blah.
- 23:39Speaker 1: That was the worst thing live I reckon. I'm going
- 23:42Speaker 1: to have to mention, no, you don't. Life of Agony.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Life of Agony my favorite band. Right.
- 23:49Speaker 2: We interviewed Keith Capudo, who's my favorite singer of my
- 23:54Speaker 2: favorite band.
- 23:54Speaker 1: It's something that was my dream.
- 23:56Speaker 2: We got to We interviewed Joey Z, the guitarist last
- 23:59Speaker 2: year which was made got to interview Keith Caputo and I.
- 24:03Speaker 1: We couldn't get into.
- 24:04Speaker 2: The radio studio, so we did it over whatsappened, did
- 24:08Speaker 2: a video recording and everything and I left. I left
- 24:12Speaker 2: to organize the the all the technical side of things.
- 24:17Speaker 2: An hour and a half interview and it was fucking epic.
- 24:20Speaker 2: It was fucking epic. None of the audio recorded none,
- 24:25Speaker 2: it was just so we've got video, We've got great
- 24:28Speaker 2: evident man.
- 24:32Speaker 1: I was stated, we're almost divorced.
- 24:37Speaker 5: Canceled because we first canceled each other.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Yeah, there's been there's been a lot of mistakes, a
- 24:43Speaker 2: lot of stuff ups. But you know a lot of time.
- 24:45Speaker 4: As well, did you guys? You've done a lot on
- 24:48Speaker 4: the radio, but just mainly champion the course of Australian music,
- 24:51Speaker 4: which is great. So how do was her bands getting
- 24:53Speaker 4: contact with you if they want to be part of
- 24:55Speaker 4: the show.
- 24:55Speaker 2: There's a few ways, man, like just Facebook, that's probably
- 24:59Speaker 2: the one of the easy space. Send us a message
- 25:01Speaker 2: on Facebook rock Hard with filing t ish, or you
- 25:04Speaker 2: can email us any MP three's or is it web files?
- 25:07Speaker 1: Wait that one.
- 25:10Speaker 2: You can email us at Rockcard we feel at gmail
- 25:13Speaker 2: dot com.
- 25:14Speaker 5: But Facebook is.
- 25:15Speaker 3: The best because we've found over the journey. Using Instagram
- 25:21Speaker 3: x is what it's called now and email Facebook we
- 25:25Speaker 3: actually get a notification, we actually know you're there, whereas
- 25:29Speaker 3: with Instagram, and we do apologize when it happens, but
- 25:32Speaker 3: it goes into the requested files sometimes and we miss it.
- 25:36Speaker 3: And emails, especially Gmail, Gmail does my head in. It
- 25:40Speaker 3: is a circus, so sometimes you will get missed. But
- 25:43Speaker 3: if you message us on Facebook, we can then go yeah,
- 25:46Speaker 3: cool point of contact.
- 25:47Speaker 2: But you know what we don't Honestly, we don't give
- 25:50Speaker 2: a shit if you've got fucking two followers or two million.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Like the end of the day, good music's good music,
- 25:56Speaker 2: and we want to be able to give a platform
- 25:58Speaker 2: to anyone like you know, as small as that for
- 26:00Speaker 2: me is from us. You know, if we can potentially
- 26:03Speaker 2: have a few extra people listen to your music and
- 26:06Speaker 2: go out and buy it, then that's what we're doing
- 26:08Speaker 2: it for fantasy.
- 26:10Speaker 4: How about rock hard Festival? Where do people go to
- 26:12Speaker 4: get chances for that?
- 26:13Speaker 3: Ostisticks sticks osticks head over there, do yourself a favorite,
- 26:19Speaker 3: get yourself the full weekend and T shirt bundle. You'll
- 26:21Speaker 3: look sexy while you're listening to some incredible Bands's copy yes,
- 26:26Speaker 3: and drink amazing beer. It's going to be awesome. Look, honestly,
- 26:30Speaker 3: this is this is round one. This is the first
- 26:33Speaker 3: one ever, you know, speaking of bands reaching out to us,
- 26:37Speaker 3: a pipe dream that I've had is that we will
- 26:40Speaker 3: maybe even look at doing about all the bands to
- 26:42Speaker 3: work out who plays next year a little bit. Even
- 26:45Speaker 3: if it's a online one. Everyone plays, you know, they're
- 26:48Speaker 3: sat and we play it on our Facebook. People will
- 26:50Speaker 3: reach out. But this is step one and it's an
- 26:53Speaker 3: honor that we even get to do this starting from
- 26:55Speaker 3: a small community radio show.
- 26:57Speaker 5: It's it's huge.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Definitely not tickets fine early because it is selling really
- 27:02Speaker 2: well at the moment and we don't want you to
- 27:04Speaker 2: miss out. And there's going to be some without saying
- 27:06Speaker 2: too many details, there's going to be some pretty cool
- 27:08Speaker 2: Aussie rock royalty that will be in the crowd.
- 27:10Speaker 1: As well, just lives there, a traveling guests, a couple
- 27:19Speaker 1: of traveling guests.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Yes we will, and there might be a controversial King
- 27:26Speaker 3: of AFL football in the crowd as well.
- 27:29Speaker 1: But we should we should actually try and sort out
- 27:31Speaker 1: that one who does work and live in Adelaide. That's
- 27:34Speaker 1: not a bad idea.
- 27:38Speaker 3: He's on the list and we're inviting the Premier of
- 27:40Speaker 3: South Australia, Peter Milleners. Guess if you're listening to this millionaire,
- 27:44Speaker 3: you're invited. You've done so much for entertainment in this state.
- 27:47Speaker 2: But that's going to be I'm just I just can't
- 27:50Speaker 2: wait for it to be done and for it to
- 27:52Speaker 2: all come together, and we're going to have some some
- 27:57Speaker 2: fun sort of giveaways and games and stuff.
- 28:00Speaker 5: And I just thought of an idea.
- 28:03Speaker 3: People, if you have a beard, we should do the
- 28:05Speaker 3: best colored beard contest, so die your beards were doing that.
- 28:08Speaker 4: The Devil Skin Lookalike contest. Now I'm not finished with
- 28:14Speaker 4: you guys yet, So before I let you go, I've
- 28:17Speaker 4: got a new segment. I started with heavy Card photo Bomb.
- 28:19Speaker 4: So basically I trolled through your social media before we
- 28:22Speaker 4: chat a couple of photos I want to know a
- 28:24Speaker 4: little bit more about.
- 28:26Speaker 8: So this one here, like I don't know what's in
- 28:29Speaker 8: the air down there in Adelaide, but a high portion
- 28:31Speaker 8: of your photos have all got your sticking your tongues
- 28:34Speaker 8: out like you've got that one.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Like you have to do it in the individually there.
- 28:42Speaker 4: And then you've got this one where a photo your
- 28:46Speaker 4: tongues are out.
- 28:48Speaker 5: So for me, I blame essentially Jeane Simmons and then
- 28:52Speaker 5: my father.
- 28:53Speaker 3: My dad as soon as he saw kiss on the
- 28:55Speaker 3: telly when he was a kid and he saw Jean
- 28:57Speaker 3: with the tongue out and then the blood dripping out
- 28:59Speaker 3: of the mouth, was like, Yep, that's my new gimmick.
- 29:01Speaker 5: I'm going to put my tongue out and medal horns
- 29:03Speaker 5: all the time.
- 29:04Speaker 1: So I kind of.
- 29:05Speaker 3: Developed from this one to this one and then I
- 29:07Speaker 3: just went, yeah, that'd does that.
- 29:09Speaker 5: I'm a child, and then it just grew.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Young actually, like I'm knaving on a lie. I don't
- 29:19Speaker 1: even notice. I'll do it too, I know. Always there
- 29:22Speaker 1: were ones because I feel I feel awkward.
- 29:24Speaker 4: I feel like I.
- 29:26Speaker 5: Think I don't with my handstats. Now it's not so
- 29:29Speaker 5: much like awkward.
- 29:30Speaker 1: It's a love it had. I always do that, but
- 29:34Speaker 1: I don't really.
- 29:38Speaker 4: You do that a hell of a buddy line.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Maybe I'm just I'm going to do this from now
- 29:42Speaker 1: you Chrispy, never do it again.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Done.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Speaking of Blady gave me the perfect segue there, because
- 29:51Speaker 4: these guys obviously what the contest to meet is.
- 29:55Speaker 3: So we ran that contest through just that was that
- 30:01Speaker 3: was one of the biggest dreams come true. And my
- 30:03Speaker 3: little viral TikTok moment was meeting Kiss and getting my
- 30:08Speaker 3: old man to meet Kiss. So we have the privilege
- 30:10Speaker 3: of interviewing Doc mcgehan. If you are listening to this
- 30:14Speaker 3: and you know Heavy magazine, I'm sure you know Doc McGhee,
- 30:16Speaker 3: But for those of you who don't know, I think
- 30:19Speaker 3: the likes of bon Jovi, my favorite band in the
- 30:21Speaker 3: entire world, skid Row, Motley Crue, and later in their
- 30:25Speaker 3: career Kiss. That's when Doc comes into the fold, and
- 30:28Speaker 3: Phil again was drinking email.
- 30:32Speaker 5: He went through I think LinkedIn or.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Something ridiculous and found in McGinn entertainment email sent an email.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Doc was like, yeah, cool, done, we'll interview. We could
- 30:41Speaker 3: have spoken to him for about four hours.
- 30:44Speaker 2: We had COVID at the time as well, where you
- 30:45Speaker 2: couldn't leave. Yeah, like we found out the night before.
- 30:50Speaker 2: I'm like, oh shit, so we're doing it at home.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Luckily the audio recorded for this one. But yeah, then
- 30:57Speaker 2: we already had tickets. And then he offered us.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Yeah, he said to me, give me a call when
- 31:02Speaker 3: I land in Adelaide, and I'm like, okay, cool, I'll
- 31:05Speaker 3: keep an eye out on all the winery tours, and
- 31:07Speaker 3: I'll keep an eye out on the flights coming in.
- 31:09Speaker 5: And I went, all right, he's landed. And we worked
- 31:12Speaker 5: together in the same building at the time, and I
- 31:13Speaker 5: was like, so, what's your friend. I need to call Doc.
- 31:15Speaker 5: I need to cool Doc. Let me call him. I
- 31:16Speaker 5: was like a little.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Bunny like freaking out and I ray him and he went, hello,
- 31:21Speaker 3: this is Dark and I went, hey, Dark, it's.
- 31:23Speaker 5: Titch and he went, Titch, baby, how.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Are you doing?
- 31:26Speaker 3: And I'm there like, don't pass out. Don't pass out
- 31:29Speaker 3: because Doc McGee's kind of remembered who you are. And
- 31:31Speaker 3: I was like, oh, hey, man, you said to us
- 31:33Speaker 3: reach out so we could catch up before the show
- 31:36Speaker 3: or whatever.
- 31:37Speaker 5: He's like, yeah, yeah, cool.
- 31:38Speaker 3: How many d you need? I was like, is there
- 31:39Speaker 3: any chance I could bring my dad? My dad saw
- 31:42Speaker 3: Kiss when he was either eleven or twelve for the
- 31:45Speaker 3: first time. It was the nineteen eighty one tour just
- 31:47Speaker 3: stopped Creatures. And then he's been the biggest Kiss fan
- 31:51Speaker 3: I know, I mean, not as big as me. I
- 31:52Speaker 3: have Jean's face tattooed on my body, but he's one
- 31:55Speaker 3: of the biggest Kiss fans. Ever, so week we've got
- 31:58Speaker 3: the like little shrine.
- 32:00Speaker 5: I said to him, can I bring my dad please?
- 32:02Speaker 3: And he goes, yeah, it's all about family, bring your dad, Okay, awesome.
- 32:07Speaker 5: I went.
- 32:07Speaker 3: We went into a meeting room and I rang dad
- 32:10Speaker 3: and our football team just got knocked out of the finals.
- 32:12Speaker 5: It was all shit. So I rang him and I
