Transcript
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Drawing Closer, a Monday Thought from Filled with His Love.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: On July 19th, 2019, Lolly and I attended the Pioneer Day concert in the conference center.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: The most memorable moment of the concert, for me at least, was the Norwegian vocalist Sissel's rendition of Chuck Gerard's hymn, Slow Down.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: It's a soaring but pensive hymn that reminds us of the importance of stillness, patience, and closeness to God.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Elder Patrick Kieran played the hymn in his Education Week devotional on August 18th of this year.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: I urge you to watch his devotional.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: I'm still moved when I reflect on what he said and how he said it.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: So today I want to share just a few of the words from the hymn because I find them healing as I read and reread them.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: So here are some of the lyrics from that hymn.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Slow down.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Slow down, be still.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Be still and wait on the Spirit of the Lord.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Slow down and hear his voice and know that he is God.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: We all have moments when everything seems to be going too fast around us, or feels too demanding, or too unpredictable.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: At moments like these, we might seek peace in the temple, or we might experience peace simply by pausing, reflecting, and inviting the Spirit in.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: So next time you need a little more peace, you might just slow down.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Slow down, be still.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Be still and wait on the Spirit of the Lord.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Slow down and hear his voice and know that he is God.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: I hope you will find these words as welcome as I have.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Thanks for listening, and until next time, let's draw a little closer to God and to each other.
