- 0:44Speaker 2: We are the Out of Bound Show ESPN one oh
- 0:47Speaker 2: five nine. The Zone brought to you by the Soft
- 0:49Speaker 2: Shell Crab and uh bone En file A Kessler Prime
- 0:53Speaker 2: and the Renaissance. Pair it with uh little Tito's Espresso
- 0:59Speaker 2: Martini or Prime dot com to make a reservation bow
- 1:02Speaker 2: bounce and uh well, ice cream drinks. Get your white
- 1:07Speaker 2: Russian Tito's White Russian. It's one of j meadows favorite drinks. Right,
- 1:15Speaker 2: you'd probably put a scoop of ice cream in there
- 1:17Speaker 2: after the Tito's Kalua and cream or milk.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Why don't they?
- 1:24Speaker 2: You could just dress it up, make it a Ameretta
- 1:27Speaker 2: freeze or Brandy Alexander almost kind of a oh, I'll
- 1:32Speaker 2: use a foot, you can use a you can make
- 1:33Speaker 2: a hybrid Tito's White Russian slash uh Ameretta Freeze slash
- 1:41Speaker 2: Brandy Alexander.
- 1:44Speaker 3: No, I said.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Brandy, not Randy. I mean there there could be a
- 1:47Speaker 2: Randy listening. Let's let's ask is there a Brandy and
- 1:52Speaker 2: or a Randy listening to the show right now? The
- 1:56Speaker 2: Dancing Rabbit Golf text line is six oh one eight
- 1:59Speaker 2: a five three seven seven six? Or do you know
- 2:03Speaker 2: a Brandy or a Randy? So are you Brandy or Randy?
- 2:08Speaker 2: Or do you know one? Six oh one eight eight
- 2:12Speaker 2: five three seven seven six. It was Lane Kiffin's sec
- 2:19Speaker 2: Media Days, and I mean, we're actually the media who
- 2:24Speaker 2: is swooning all week, which cracks me up in a
- 2:29Speaker 2: good way, like I'm not taking I mean the media
- 2:34Speaker 2: was like hyper hyper positive on everybody, which I mean
- 2:39Speaker 2: that's mean positivity rocks and it's it's good for the soul.
- 2:44Speaker 2: But the the optimism, I mean, I thought like Roman
- 2:51Speaker 2: Harper had an outer body experience. He said that Jeff
- 2:55Speaker 2: Levy's done a great job in a short amount of time,
- 2:57Speaker 2: and I thought, am I where I don't even know
- 3:01Speaker 2: what's happened? What just happened here? Somebody needs to like
- 3:06Speaker 2: go in and arrest Roman Harper. I mean he may
- 3:08Speaker 2: be in the meds or so I don't know what's happened.
- 3:11Speaker 2: But anyway, the positivity and I get it.
- 3:15Speaker 3: It's the off season. It's the last big media pop.
- 3:22Speaker 2: It's the only time in the year that we hear
- 3:24Speaker 2: from every single coach over four days and a bunch
- 3:26Speaker 2: of players. Everybody zero and zero and believes that whatever
- 3:31Speaker 2: it is they're going to do that. A lot of
- 3:33Speaker 2: fans believe that they'll do much better, which is fun,
- 3:38Speaker 2: especially those that have been winning, you know, like.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Ole Miss and.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Yeah, well, nobody really won last year in the league.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I mean Georgia and Bama did how did they get
- 3:49Speaker 2: in the SEC championship game? At Ole Miss? Didn't it
- 3:51Speaker 2: eleven to one?
- 3:52Speaker 3: Weird?
- 3:54Speaker 2: I mean, I know how, but you know what I'm saying,
- 3:57Speaker 2: Uh yeah, but the opt and the positivity was off
- 4:02Speaker 2: the charts. My new favorite player in Starbull Aunt Evans,
- 4:05Speaker 2: Anthony Evans. Hopefully he wears number three again because who
- 4:09Speaker 2: are number three? I mean the greatest living American Del Murphy? Right,
- 4:16Speaker 2: we all know who the greatest living American is right now,
- 4:20Speaker 2: Del Murphy Boom. You know when he had Murph's Uh
- 4:27Speaker 2: so Del Murphy had I don't I don't know why
- 4:30Speaker 2: they closed it. But when I when I went to
- 4:32Speaker 2: SEC Media Days a couple of years ago in Atlanta
- 4:35Speaker 2: and it was at the College Football Hall of Fame.
- 4:37Speaker 2: I went out to the Battery and stayed a couple
- 4:40Speaker 2: of nights and went to a Braves game.
- 4:43Speaker 3: I've told you all this. And Rocky Pttel.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Has an amazing cigar bar and lounge that you could
- 4:49Speaker 2: throw a you know, a football at the Brave Stadium.
- 4:52Speaker 2: It's beautiful, great place to if you do if you
- 4:56Speaker 2: fly through or do some work in Atlanta. But I
- 5:00Speaker 2: went to I had to go to Murph's because I
- 5:02Speaker 2: grew up obsessed with Dale Murphy. And you get these
- 5:08Speaker 2: real cool aluminum cups in there with the number three
- 5:12Speaker 2: and the Braves logo. When you go in there and
- 5:14Speaker 2: have I guess I had a burger or something and
- 5:16Speaker 2: I got a beer. So that was that was like
- 5:20Speaker 2: a big deal for me. And we'll see if Anthony
- 5:22Speaker 2: Evans wide receiver Atssissippi State, who I like his style,
- 5:26Speaker 2: I like his mojo, I like his charisma and he
- 5:29Speaker 2: looked great in that suit.
- 5:32Speaker 3: So if Pete Golding won.
- 5:35Speaker 2: SEC Media Days or Trinidad or Lane for MSU, Anthony
- 5:40Speaker 2: Evans did fair enough. Speaking of let's drop the Levy
- 5:44Speaker 2: on our nette. All right, so let's reset here the
- 5:48Speaker 2: Dancing Rabbit golf text line six oh one eight eight
- 5:52Speaker 2: five three seven seven six. I'm driving to Harlow's with Brandy.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Good luck, Charle arm very handy.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Okay. I don't know if he's kidding with.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Us or if he really has Brandy with him in Greenville,
- 6:06Speaker 2: Mississippi at Harlowe's.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Huh. Oh the drink? Uh do you think that's what
- 6:15Speaker 3: he's talking about?
- 6:16Speaker 2: The brandy Alexander we were referencing, which is brandy and
- 6:21Speaker 2: ice cream? Oh no, all right, let's drop this audio
- 6:28Speaker 2: first and then we'll get into that. This is Jeff
- 6:31Speaker 2: Levy talking about having Zach Arnett as his defensive coordinator.
- 6:36Speaker 4: You've talked about bringing Zach Arnett back into the fold.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Just run through the process of how that happened and
- 6:43Speaker 4: just bringing him back into Mississippi State.
- 6:47Speaker 5: Yeah. The biggest thing for me was wanting to add
- 6:49Speaker 5: a piece inside that defensive staff room to be able
- 6:52Speaker 5: to go run it, that had ran it, that had
- 6:54Speaker 5: called it, that had called it inside this conference. That's
- 6:57Speaker 5: what I wanted first and had the experience of being
- 7:01Speaker 5: a defensive coordinator and having to adjust and understood the
- 7:06Speaker 5: grind of what we do every single week. Obviously, Zach
- 7:09Speaker 5: has that, and I coached against him and didn't enjoy
- 7:13Speaker 5: going against him. He made it really, really hard, and
- 7:16Speaker 5: that for me was just another great stamp and a
- 7:19Speaker 5: check the box situation where I knew what I was getting.
- 7:24Speaker 5: And I've talked a ton about being the aggressor, being
- 7:27Speaker 5: able to affect the quarterback creating negative plays. He's done that,
- 7:31Speaker 5: and he has been awesome in the building. He's been
- 7:34Speaker 5: great from a leadership standpoint on that side of the
- 7:37Speaker 5: ball for us, and I feel like it does free
- 7:40Speaker 5: me up in a great way, which has been awesome.
- 7:44Speaker 3: All Right.
- 7:44Speaker 2: That was Jeff Levy talking about Zach Arnett as a
- 7:49Speaker 2: defensive coordinator, his second stint in this crazy He was
- 7:54Speaker 2: a DC underleach, then the interim coach, then fired. Now
- 7:57Speaker 2: he's back his defensive coordinator for the guy who replaced him.
- 8:02Speaker 3: You can't you can't make this up. Yes, he's a
- 8:05Speaker 3: major upgrade.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Bugs Bunny would have been an upgrade over Coleman Hutzler,
- 8:10Speaker 2: but no doubt Zach. And And look, I think when
- 8:13Speaker 2: you take understanding the room the experience that he's had
- 8:18Speaker 2: and his recruiting. He's the he's the best coach on
- 8:22Speaker 2: staff in Zach Garnett. So it was a more than
- 8:26Speaker 2: solid hire by Jeff Levy and a major, major upgrade.
- 8:31Speaker 2: But again, you know, anybody would have been but this
- 8:36Speaker 2: is a nice upgrade. And I'm not saying Zach's like
- 8:39Speaker 2: would be. He's not a top twenty or thirty DC,
- 8:43Speaker 2: but he has proven on many Saturdays that he can
- 8:47Speaker 2: roll out and coach a unit as a defensive coordinator
- 8:51Speaker 2: in the SEC and have success. I don't want to
- 8:53Speaker 2: take that away from him either. And you know the
- 8:57Speaker 2: fact that Zack's best year was his first year, Now
- 9:00Speaker 2: that kind of makes sense in that Mullen had driven
- 9:04Speaker 2: so much of what you did and then more Head
- 9:07Speaker 2: didn't quite burn it all down, and then by the
- 9:09Speaker 2: time Leech and Arnett took over, there was still you know,
- 9:12Speaker 2: a lot more talent on that team than well then
- 9:16Speaker 2: there probably is today, you know, going back six years.
- 9:19Speaker 3: But uh, but I thought.
- 9:20Speaker 2: That was pretty good, pretty good hit from from Levy.
- 9:23Speaker 2: We need to get some more. Uh, We'll have to
- 9:26Speaker 2: find some more Levy. I got more Kevin, and we
- 9:30Speaker 2: need some Golding too, so we'll get it going. We
- 9:35Speaker 2: are the out of Down Show Football Friday, powered by
- 9:38Speaker 2: Rix Pro Truck. They've got three locations, RPT Commercial and
- 9:43Speaker 2: Pearl RPT, Rix Pro Truck, Flowwood and Notre Dame's number
- 9:48Speaker 2: one fan, Casey at Rix Pro Truck RPT and Gluckstaff.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Oh thank you got something that's fake outrage.
- 10:15Speaker 3: That's fake outrage.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Out of bounds ESPN one oh five nine the zone
- 10:20Speaker 2: we want to hear from you on the Dancing Rabbit
- 10:22Speaker 2: Golf text line. Who won SEC Media Days six oh one,
- 10:27Speaker 2: eight eight, five, three, seven, seven six. That's where we
- 10:31Speaker 2: are in the world now with iPhones and x or
- 10:35Speaker 2: Twitter whatever you're referencing, calling it now, that's where we are.
- 10:40Speaker 2: We have we have media running around talking about and
- 10:44Speaker 2: fans they're like, we won SEC Media Days. This is
- 10:49Speaker 2: where we are. I love it. We have all lost
- 10:53Speaker 2: our minds. I just realized I left the Tito's helmet
- 10:55Speaker 2: in the car. I had to go get it all right.
- 10:59Speaker 2: I looked over saw Juice Kiffin on the set and
- 11:02Speaker 2: that Whiskey sixty one decanter, and I thought, what's missing?
- 11:07Speaker 2: I went, oh yeah, bar two and I took the
- 11:09Speaker 2: Tito's vodka helmet to Dancing Rabbit Golf Club and Pearl
- 11:13Speaker 2: River Resort as a prop, even though I couldn't get
- 11:17Speaker 2: the iPad to do right, but we did put it
- 11:20Speaker 2: out on the course and got a great picture of
- 11:24Speaker 2: on number eighteen at those alias with the with the
- 11:27Speaker 2: Tito's helmet right by the pen. I'll get Bar two credit.
- 11:32Speaker 2: We went out there and hit a couple of golf shots.
- 11:37Speaker 2: His first golf shot, so he he goes out into
- 11:39Speaker 2: the fairway. I mean we just grabbed two clubs from
- 11:43Speaker 2: the golf pro there. He goes out into the fairway
- 11:46Speaker 2: and just hits an awesome shot right by the hole.
- 11:53Speaker 2: His other two were solid. They all three hit the green,
- 11:57Speaker 2: but no warm up. Just boom, boom boom.
- 12:01Speaker 3: And that was our little That was our little prop.
- 12:04Speaker 3: After the show show.
- 12:09Speaker 2: I couldn't get him to Guys or Falls after the show,
- 12:11Speaker 2: just because we were trying to figure out.
- 12:14Speaker 3: How that was going to work, but we still had
- 12:16Speaker 3: a great time.
- 12:17Speaker 2: We went to the Vegas style sportsbook inside the Golden
- 12:19Speaker 2: Moon and Bar two took Louisville and the points. He
- 12:24Speaker 2: thinks ole miss wins, but he's taking the points. Yeah,
- 12:28Speaker 2: all right, So.
- 12:29Speaker 3: There you go. We were asking about Brandy and Randy.
- 12:34Speaker 3: How about this.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Jason on the Dancing Rabbit Golf text line he knows
- 12:40Speaker 2: a Brandy and Randy that are married in Lake Carolina.
- 12:43Speaker 2: We want to say congratulations to Brandy and Randy who
- 12:49Speaker 2: are married in Lake Caroline. We hope you have a
- 12:52Speaker 2: great weekend, and maybe there's a little love in the air.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Maybe I'll chase each other around the house, you know
- 12:58Speaker 2: what I'm saying. Remember, but we had National Nude Day
- 13:01Speaker 2: July fourteenth. It just popped up right here on because
- 13:06Speaker 2: the national day to day is National Tequila Day, brought
- 13:09Speaker 2: to you by Top Shelf Margarita with Espalone tequila, which
- 13:14Speaker 2: is on the show and Delicious. He doesn't go hand
- 13:16Speaker 2: in hand, right, Yeah, Well, tequila and maybe run around naked. Yeah,
- 13:21Speaker 2: there's there's a country music song that's something about tequila
- 13:25Speaker 2: makes her clothes off.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't know.
- 13:28Speaker 2: I don't know who sings it, but I feel like
- 13:29Speaker 2: it should be Brad Paisley. That'd be a good one,
- 13:32Speaker 2: That's my guess. I mean, that'd be a good if
- 13:34Speaker 2: I was going to guess. Are like, I think there's
- 13:40Speaker 2: a guy named Clay Walker. That's a country music singer
- 13:43Speaker 2: that had a tremendous amount of success.
- 13:45Speaker 3: That's correct. That may be.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Another guy saying I know she hung the moon. There
- 13:49Speaker 2: you go, Joe Nichols. Is that the guy who did Tequila? Yeah? Yeah, yeah,
- 13:54Speaker 2: I don't know who Joe Nichols is, but I do
- 13:57Speaker 2: remember that it was.
- 13:58Speaker 3: That was a catchy song years catch you.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I gotta I feel like if there was a if
- 14:02Speaker 2: there's a one hit wonder in country music, this might
- 14:05Speaker 2: he may qualify. Well, there's plenty of them, hey and
- 14:08Speaker 2: ever like you know what, you realize, once everybody wants
- 14:11Speaker 2: to have be a one hit wonder, you have a hit,
- 14:15Speaker 2: you're still in the top one percent.
- 14:17Speaker 3: No doubt.
- 14:20Speaker 2: So anyway, Rogers, Arkansas, that sounds right. Yeah, Joe Nichols,
- 14:28Speaker 2: Joe Nichols. Look, Brad Martin knew it before you did.
- 14:32Speaker 2: And he texted us on the Dancing Rabbit golf text line,
- 14:36Speaker 2: Holy smokes, let's get Pete Golding on Tamper. I got
- 14:40Speaker 2: to stay the course. I know we're doing way too
- 14:44Speaker 2: much hardcore sports this week. I could have gone off
- 14:46Speaker 2: on what we were just talking about for the next
- 14:48Speaker 2: forty five minutes and had fun with it on the
- 14:51Speaker 2: Tequila makes her close fall off thing brought to you
- 14:53Speaker 2: by Espalone Tequila and top shelf Mark Greaves.
- 14:55Speaker 3: But I got to get this Pete.
- 14:58Speaker 2: So Pete was asked about tampering and everybody's tampering, but
- 15:02Speaker 2: the whole old Miss Clemson thing.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Y'all remember that from months ago.
- 15:06Speaker 2: This is Pete Golding as he was asked about tampering
- 15:10Speaker 2: in Tampa, Florida at SEC Media Days, and Pete is
- 15:14Speaker 2: one of the ones that people are saying one SEC
- 15:18Speaker 2: Media Days.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Here we go. Coach, you guys have been accused of tampering,
- 15:23Speaker 3: you know, and you got to instead of an investigation,
- 15:25Speaker 3: at least from what I've heard, talk to me about
- 15:28Speaker 3: your feeling about tampering.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't get into feelings, to be honest with you, you know.
- 15:32Speaker 4: I mean, we got a compliance department. They get paid
- 15:35Speaker 4: to do their job. They do a really good job.
- 15:37Speaker 4: So it's our responsibility to recruit really good players, all right,
- 15:40Speaker 4: coach them extremely hard, getting ready to win football games.
- 15:43Speaker 4: So we're going to continue to recruit really good players.
- 15:45Speaker 4: That's both in the high school market and in the
- 15:47Speaker 4: portal market. And we'll continue to do it have we
- 15:50Speaker 4: done it?
- 15:50Speaker 5: How would you fix tampering or is it something that
- 15:53Speaker 5: cannot be fixed in this environment?
- 15:57Speaker 4: Let me put it to you this way. Okay, it'd
- 16:00Speaker 4: be so obviously you're a porter, right, would you quit
- 16:03Speaker 4: your job before interviewing for another job or being offered
- 16:06Speaker 4: another job?
- 16:09Speaker 3: No?
- 16:09Speaker 4: No, no, nobody would. But right, but we have we
- 16:11Speaker 4: have a portal that you can go in with a
- 16:13Speaker 4: do not contact. I'm gonna quit my job where I'm
- 16:16Speaker 4: getting paid and I'm going to go in saying I
- 16:19Speaker 4: need a.
- 16:19Speaker 3: New job, but nobody can call me to interview. Like
- 16:25Speaker 3: what have we created?
- 16:26Speaker 4: So we've created it on top of representation for these players,
- 16:30Speaker 4: right that it's their responsibility to make sure they get
- 16:33Speaker 4: paid really well, and they also have opportunities. So by design,
- 16:36Speaker 4: it's put a lot of people in bad positions. And
- 16:40Speaker 4: let's not act like recruiting in college football for the
- 16:42Speaker 4: last hundred years is the most moral thing, right that's
- 16:46Speaker 4: ever been existed.
- 16:46Speaker 3: I mean, like, what are we talking about here? So
- 16:49Speaker 3: I'm really not gonna get.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Into my feelings, and I know how I've been educated
- 16:52Speaker 4: to answer this question. Right, does that make sense? It's
- 16:56Speaker 4: where we have a great, great compliance department, right, and
- 16:58Speaker 4: all those type of things. But no, I mean the
- 17:01Speaker 4: model obviously has been broken. And I'm all for everybody
- 17:05Speaker 4: being on the same playing field and doing the same things.
- 17:08Speaker 4: I get it, But I think that's in any job, right,
- 17:11Speaker 4: Like coaches, we're under contract. You don't think other ades
- 17:13Speaker 4: are calling us during the year. Same ones that are
- 17:16Speaker 4: bitching about all this stuff are the same ones calling
- 17:18Speaker 4: coaches right to come to other schools, right and everything.
- 17:21Speaker 4: So it's everywhere, It's in every profession. So I'm not
- 17:24Speaker 4: saying I've got all the answers. I'm not saying that
- 17:26Speaker 4: at all, right, as that makes sense, So we go
- 17:28Speaker 4: by then the rules of the program, right and how
- 17:31Speaker 4: the flow. Just like when you're on the interstate and
- 17:33Speaker 4: people are flying by you, what do you start doing?
- 17:36Speaker 4: Damn right, you're gonna get hit, right?
- 17:38Speaker 1: Is that makes sense?
- 17:39Speaker 3: And this the fact you're gonna get fired. Right.
- 17:41Speaker 4: So I'm not saying that, but I think there are
- 17:44Speaker 4: a lot of people that are doing an unbelievable job
- 17:46Speaker 4: greg being one right to make sure that all right,
- 17:48Speaker 4: everything's catching up. College football is constantly changing all those
- 17:52Speaker 4: type of things. So hopefully we'll all you know, decide
- 17:54Speaker 4: on what's fair for everybody.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Oh man, all right, So that was Pete Golding on tampering.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Great answer, Pete is you know, he's really got the
- 18:02Speaker 2: gift of, uh, you know, conversations. He's a conversationalist. He
- 18:06Speaker 2: obviously enjoys talking. He can carry I think any conversation.
- 18:12Speaker 2: I can see why he's a good recruiter. Yeah, and
- 18:15Speaker 2: he's kicked some tail the last few months.
- 18:18Speaker 3: That was good. I mean I can't I can't argue
- 18:20Speaker 3: with any of it.
- 18:23Speaker 2: You know, first of all, college football recruiting and college
- 18:26Speaker 2: basketball recruiting has been dirty for decades and decades, and
- 18:32Speaker 2: so that's why I get cracked up when people are like,
- 18:35Speaker 2: I can't believe we're paying players. Where have you been?
- 18:38Speaker 2: We've been paying players better now that we just give
- 18:40Speaker 2: him cash get everything.
- 18:42Speaker 3: I mean, this model's better.
- 18:44Speaker 2: We're just trying to figure out what the what it's
- 18:46Speaker 2: going to look like as far as you know, salary
- 18:49Speaker 2: cap and you know, employees and unions and all this
- 18:53Speaker 2: other stuff. Right now, how you can Yeah, I mean
- 18:58Speaker 2: you're never going to, you know, eradicate tampering, but I
- 19:06Speaker 2: think that you can do some things to help everybody
- 19:10Speaker 2: both the players and the coaches slash programs. I do
- 19:14Speaker 2: think that there are some things that can be put
- 19:15Speaker 2: in place to do that.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Pete was good.
- 19:18Speaker 2: We've got a lot more audio to get to Lane
- 19:21Speaker 2: Kiffin's SEC media days we're in Tampa. We celebrated them
- 19:25Speaker 2: at Philip M's Steakhouse and Dancing Rabbit Golf Club. Straight Ahead,
- 19:30Speaker 2: Camrio Taylor on Trinidad Chamblis.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Guys, I don't have time for that speculation.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Out of Bounds ESPN one oh five, don the Zone.
- 20:19Speaker 2: I'm your host, bo Bounds. Thanks for hanging out with us.
- 20:22Speaker 2: We have had a really really good week and having
- 20:26Speaker 2: Dave bar two in town was a ton of fun.
- 20:29Speaker 2: And we had fun here and then up at Pearl
- 20:31Speaker 2: River Resort knocked out about ten hours of content and
- 20:36Speaker 2: storytelling and all that kind of good stuff with Diamond
- 20:40Speaker 2: Dave bar two. Your SEC Insider hit this morning is
- 20:44Speaker 2: brought to you by the Peter malar Ole miss and
- 20:47Speaker 2: Mississippi State Gear at the Rogue Men's Store in Jackson,
- 20:53Speaker 2: newly renovated right by Holland Village. Peter malar Peter maurlar
- 20:58Speaker 2: Ole miss Mississippi State Gear golf shirts of course, pullovers
- 21:03Speaker 2: for a few months, but all kinds of good looking
- 21:06Speaker 2: stuff at the Rogue Men's Store right by Highland Village
- 21:12Speaker 2: newly renovated the Rogue Men's Store Ole miss and Mississippi
- 21:17Speaker 2: State Peter.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Malar golf shirts and other gear.
- 21:22Speaker 2: So, in fact, there's one right across from me in
- 21:25Speaker 2: the studio that's an m Overs.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Pullover from baseball season.
- 21:31Speaker 2: And I know that they posted the interlocking MSU on
- 21:36Speaker 2: their Instagram, so you'll want to check that out and
- 21:40Speaker 2: follow the Rogue on Instagram. Bo bound straight funk with you, Jackson.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Do you have someone that won media days? I feel
- 21:49Speaker 2: like Bo and Bar two did. But as far as
- 21:52Speaker 2: somebody in Tampa, you know, I'm not a firm believer
- 21:57Speaker 2: on the winning media days, but I'm a firm believer
- 21:59Speaker 2: on losing them. Okay, you can lose them. Really, you
- 22:02Speaker 2: can definitely lose media days, all right. If you look
- 22:06Speaker 2: like you know, a slob up there, Okay, you can
- 22:09Speaker 2: lose media days. Okay, you know, you get backed into
- 22:11Speaker 2: a question and don't know how to answer, start fumbling around,
- 22:14Speaker 2: you can lose media days easily, right, and uh yeah,
- 22:17Speaker 2: you know, for the most part, the state did a
- 22:19Speaker 2: pretty good job of putting on a solid showing.
- 22:22Speaker 3: I agree.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Golding was really good, Leby was more than solid, and
- 22:30Speaker 2: Anthony Evans was really good and Trinidad Chandliss was really good.
- 22:33Speaker 2: We'll have Camrio on Trinidad in a minute. I would
- 22:38Speaker 2: like to know from you on the Dancing Rabbit Golf
- 22:41Speaker 2: text line six oh one eight eight five three seven
- 22:47Speaker 2: seven six, who won SEC Media Days And did anyone
- 22:52Speaker 2: go to school with Pete Golding at Delta State.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I'd like to know if anyone listening.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Went to school with if Pete Golding at Delta State,
- 23:02Speaker 2: hit us up with the tax six h one eight
- 23:05Speaker 2: eight five three seven seven six.
- 23:10Speaker 3: And Pete Hey Golding.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Haircut, Yeah, buddy style, good looking suit.
- 23:17Speaker 3: And because when you go from the DC where whatever
- 23:21Speaker 3: you want all that, you know.
- 23:24Speaker 2: You're not the focus. But when you're the head coach,
- 23:27Speaker 2: you are. Now let's go to Camrio. So Camrio Taylor
- 23:31Speaker 2: is a true sophomore. This will be his first year
- 23:34Speaker 2: to start at Mississippi State, and there's a lot on
- 23:37Speaker 2: the line for a lot of people. As everybody knows,
- 23:41Speaker 2: and we know that Camrio is talented and maybe the
- 23:44Speaker 2: most talented quarterback they've ever signed, and they've signed some
- 23:47Speaker 2: good ones. Will he be the best, Well, that's time
- 23:51Speaker 2: will tell. And how polished will he be in the
- 23:55Speaker 2: passing game this year?
- 23:56Speaker 3: Time will tell.
- 23:57Speaker 2: We know that he's going to have some big moments
- 23:59Speaker 2: running the football and throwing it, but you know, have
- 24:02Speaker 2: big moments running the football. This is Camaro Taylor talking
- 24:05Speaker 2: about he and Trinidad Chambliss in their relationship. Ca Mario,
- 24:10Speaker 2: you said, you've gotten to kind of grow close to
- 24:12Speaker 2: Trinidad Chamblis.
- 24:13Speaker 3: I now y'all room together at Manning Passing Academy. What's
- 24:16Speaker 3: he like and how have you kind of learned from
- 24:17Speaker 3: him as a quarterback?
- 24:19Speaker 6: Trinidad like a lot of like Like like a lot
- 24:22Speaker 6: of the other guys who I've been around, Trinidad is
- 24:25Speaker 6: one of them, at least one of the kind of Trinidad.
- 24:28Speaker 6: He's an executor, he's a playmake, he's a competitor. Like
- 24:31Speaker 6: that's all were talking about the whole time. And he
- 24:33Speaker 6: just was breaking down to me his journey and like
- 24:36Speaker 6: his experience throughout like the a SEC and being at
- 24:39Speaker 6: a D two school and just showing me, like trying
- 24:42Speaker 6: to show me the ropes of how to become like where.
- 24:44Speaker 6: I asked him, like how did he read defense? Like
- 24:46Speaker 6: how did like Russia Georgia? Like how did you know
- 24:48Speaker 6: that guy was coming? I asked him, thinking like that,
- 24:50Speaker 6: he told me why he was, like like the way
- 24:51Speaker 6: he looks at his films, the way he watched film.
- 24:54Speaker 6: He's ever diagnosed differently anyone else?
- 24:57Speaker 3: All right?
- 24:58Speaker 2: That was Camrio Taylor talking about rooming with Trinidad Chambliss
- 25:04Speaker 2: at Manning Passing Passing Academy a few weeks ago. Of course,
- 25:09Speaker 2: we had Mike Natillier on talking Trinidad and KT, and
- 25:13Speaker 2: we had Jeff duncan on who was also there, and
- 25:16Speaker 2: he talked about Camrio Taylor and Trinidad.
- 25:20Speaker 3: So they're now budds.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Outside of that Friday game, the Battle for the Golden Egg,
- 25:28Speaker 2: where Trinidad's team will be a heavy favorite. But I
- 25:31Speaker 2: think that is kind of cool, don't you. I do,
- 25:35Speaker 2: Trinidad's older, He's been able to see it and do
- 25:38Speaker 2: it at a high level. D two and power for
- 25:42Speaker 2: Camrio played a little bit last year, but this is
- 25:46Speaker 2: his team now and if he can have a good year,
- 25:50Speaker 2: that gives Jeff Levy an opportunity to extend his stay
- 25:55Speaker 2: in Startbull right, if now Camrio could have a big
- 25:59Speaker 2: year and it just may not be enough. But if
- 26:03Speaker 2: Camrio has a big year, he's got to stay healthy.
- 26:05Speaker 2: If Camrio stays, he's got to get down. I would assume,
- 26:09Speaker 2: but people tell me don't assume. I would assume. There
- 26:12Speaker 2: was a lot of coaching in March and April on
- 26:17Speaker 2: getting down and getting out of bounds and playing the
- 26:19Speaker 2: next play. I'll tell you somebody who may be the best,
- 26:24Speaker 2: and I can't.
- 26:25Speaker 3: I don't know of another one that's better.
- 26:26Speaker 2: I mean, Johnny Manziel was good, but I tell you
- 26:29Speaker 2: somebody who has the ability and not to get down
- 26:35Speaker 2: and get out of bounds as trendad and by the way,
- 26:37Speaker 2: that's a compliment. Yeah oh yeah, so I you know,
- 26:41Speaker 2: we'll see what that looks like. They have about twenty
- 26:44Speaker 2: five to thirty more practices everybody before you play your
- 26:47Speaker 2: first game Labor Day weekend, and I would think that
- 26:54Speaker 2: that's going to be a big point of emphasis for
- 26:57Speaker 2: Levy and already has been Mario Taylor. I'm sure they
- 27:01Speaker 2: worked on it in the spring, right down situational. Whenever
- 27:06Speaker 2: you break free, we want you to go get it,
- 27:08Speaker 2: and then we want you to get down, get back up,
- 27:10Speaker 2: look over the sideline, be able to call another play
- 27:12Speaker 2: and do that again and again, which is fun.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Again. Camrio should run. He should run a lot.
- 27:19Speaker 2: I think he could run to the you know, run
- 27:22Speaker 2: Levy too, staying in Startble. But and he is big,
- 27:29Speaker 2: good lord. I mean I was watching him yesterday. I
- 27:32Speaker 2: mean he looks like an edge rusher and he's your
- 27:35Speaker 2: court and I mean he's he's fit, right, I mean
- 27:38Speaker 2: he's fit and big and.
- 27:41Speaker 3: And all that. And I know a lot of y'all
- 27:43Speaker 3: we've heard from you on the text line.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Y'all remember watching him at Naxaby County, not but twenty
- 27:48Speaker 2: five minutes down the road from Startbvil, Mississippi, where Jeffrey
- 27:50Speaker 2: Simmons is from. And uh, you know the Omar Connors
- 27:54Speaker 2: and all those guys. They've been producing and pumping out
- 27:57Speaker 2: big time athletes for a low all the pockets in
- 28:00Speaker 2: rural Mississippi where kids grow up just playing outside from
- 28:04Speaker 2: four years old on.
- 28:07Speaker 3: And that's Camrio Taylor.
- 28:08Speaker 2: So he and Trinidad Chambliss were roommates at the Manning
- 28:11Speaker 2: Passing Academy and Camrio that was like another that was
- 28:16Speaker 2: like going to school getting an NBA in forty eight
- 28:18Speaker 2: out or seventy two hours, however long they were there,
- 28:21Speaker 2: from either the best or one of the best quarterbacks
- 28:23Speaker 2: coming back in the country. And then Camrio as far
- 28:25Speaker 2: as skill set and athleticism, he's one of the most
- 28:29Speaker 2: talented in the country.
- 28:31Speaker 3: In fact, if you drop Camaro.
- 28:32Speaker 2: On some of these other teams in the SEC, oh Man,
- 28:36Speaker 2: I mean, like if you drop Camrio at Georgia lsu Bama,
- 28:43Speaker 2: I think he beat out both those guys in Tuscaloosa eventually,
- 28:47Speaker 2: maybe not Game one, but eventually. And that's not the
- 28:50Speaker 2: Keiland Russell and Austin Mack or whatever. Those guys are
- 28:53Speaker 2: not talented. He's got a great shot to be better
- 28:57Speaker 2: than Marcel Reid and Leonora Seller. But asking him to
- 29:03Speaker 2: do what everybody's talking about this year is a true sophomore.
- 29:07Speaker 2: And again he's gonna have big moments, Wove, There's gonna
- 29:11Speaker 2: be some look, Matt corral and Jackson Dart and Dak
- 29:14Speaker 2: Prescott and Eli Manning had really really tough games and
- 29:22Speaker 2: so again he's a true sophomore. There's gonna be some
- 29:26Speaker 2: deer in the headlights there just is. Yeah, and that's okay.
- 29:32Speaker 2: But there will be I can remember that was it
- 29:35Speaker 2: year one or two two? I think Kipton in Corral
- 29:39Speaker 2: and Matt goes up to Arkansas, who's not a power
- 29:43Speaker 2: and throws I.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Think six picks. That's right.
- 29:46Speaker 2: And Matt Corrall was an un believable college quarterback decision
- 29:52Speaker 2: making the ability that he threw some beautiful balls and
- 29:56Speaker 2: then he could move around and gut you for twelve fifteen,
- 30:00Speaker 2: eighteen yards with his legs. He's one of the toughest
- 30:04Speaker 2: guys you've ever had come through your program too, because
- 30:07Speaker 2: he was hurt down the stretch in twenty twenty one,
- 30:13Speaker 2: and I can remember being in the egg Bowl and
- 30:16Speaker 2: our Net and them tried to beat the hell out
- 30:19Speaker 2: of him on defense. He just kept getting up. It
- 30:21Speaker 2: was when he had rolled his ankle a couple of
- 30:23Speaker 2: weeks before. I think my point in all that is,
- 30:26Speaker 2: as a true sophomore, there's gonna be some tough saturdays,
- 30:30Speaker 2: but you're gonna have some really good ones too. The
- 30:33Speaker 2: question is, can our net be there when Camrio's struggling?
- 30:39Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Can you know that they're
- 30:42Speaker 2: going to be better? How much better? We don't We
- 30:44Speaker 2: do not know but can our net you know, mask
- 30:49Speaker 2: a tough day for Camrio because even the better ones
- 30:54Speaker 2: Arch and Trinidad could have a bad game, right, But
- 30:56Speaker 2: when you're a true sophomore and you haven't played a
- 30:58Speaker 2: lot and you have to go on the road two
- 31:00Speaker 2: of your first three weeks at like So's, he's never
- 31:04Speaker 2: started a road game. He was inserted into the Arkansas
- 31:08Speaker 2: game and I know they weren't good the when so
- 31:14Speaker 2: he was inserted. He scores a couple of touchdowns. Everybody
- 31:17Speaker 2: got excited, as they should have. But in two of
- 31:20Speaker 2: his first three weeks, he's got to go on the
- 31:23Speaker 2: road at Minnesota and at South Carolina and those defenses
- 31:28Speaker 2: will throw, you know, everything they can at him. Minnesota
- 31:32Speaker 2: will not near be near as athletic as Mississippi State,
- 31:35Speaker 2: but that doesn't mean that they can't disrupt him at times.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Now he should be able to run around and through
- 31:41Speaker 2: them at times too, because they're just not going to
- 31:44Speaker 2: have the same athletes, even.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Though they have a good head coach. There'd be a
- 31:49Speaker 3: hot knife through butter on half of them.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Camaro could have a big day on the ground at
- 31:55Speaker 2: Minnesota to get Jeff that you know, that early win,
- 32:00Speaker 2: that he needs to get. If he can split one
- 32:03Speaker 2: of those two games, he's got a chance to make
- 32:05Speaker 2: it because he's got some really good home games unbelievable.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Vanderbilt is not gonna be near as good, Missouri's not
- 32:12Speaker 2: going to be as good, and Auburn is in major
- 32:15Speaker 2: transition with the new coach and Alex Golish. Those are
- 32:19Speaker 2: unbelievable opportunities for Levy to win conference home games. Yes,
- 32:28Speaker 2: and that would be a big deal. They haven't won
- 32:30Speaker 2: a conference home game since Leeches last year. They beat
- 32:33Speaker 2: Arizona at home and Arizona State at home under Arnett
- 32:36Speaker 2: and Levy, but they've yet to where to beat to
- 32:41Speaker 2: win a conference game at home. So can we go
- 32:45Speaker 2: with number four Lane on his social media media hiatus
- 32:50Speaker 2: and Knox his son. You mentioned Knox earlier in the show.
- 32:54Speaker 2: He won some games for Oxford High School last year,
- 32:57Speaker 2: regular season and playoffs. Jackson said that he's got a
- 33:01Speaker 2: pretty good rating as a young player. We'll see where
- 33:05Speaker 2: where he ends up. If he's good enough for Power four.
- 33:08Speaker 2: I have no idea. I mean, that's a long way
- 33:10Speaker 2: to go before you know we can we can look
- 33:13Speaker 2: at that.
- 33:13Speaker 3: Is he G five?
- 33:14Speaker 2: Is he Power four, but at Lane Kiffin's sec media
- 33:19Speaker 2: days in Tampa, Lane was asked about his social media hiatus.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Really, it just started.
- 33:29Speaker 7: Knocks my son when David sitting there and he's like,
- 33:31Speaker 7: He's like, you're on social media all the time. I
- 33:33Speaker 7: bet you couldn't get off. And if you kind of
- 33:36Speaker 7: follow me, if you tell me I can't do something,
- 33:38Speaker 7: that's really a good way to get me to do it.
- 33:41Speaker 7: My dad used to tell the staff as an assistant coach, like,
- 33:44Speaker 7: if you want something done, wait till after the head
- 33:47Speaker 7: coaches workout so he's in a good place, and then
- 33:49Speaker 7: tell him he can't do it, and then he'll do
- 33:52Speaker 7: whatever it is. So he just said, I bet you
- 33:54Speaker 7: can't do it. So I said, yeah, I can't watch
- 33:58Speaker 7: and so I just got off of everything, got off
- 34:01Speaker 7: of it. Don't even have apps, so it's not even
- 34:05Speaker 7: like I read it either. And it wasn't a plan
- 34:08Speaker 7: for very long. I just wanted to show them I
- 34:10Speaker 7: could do it. And it's been really interesting. I think
- 34:13Speaker 7: as I look back over my life and my journey
- 34:17Speaker 7: that a lot of great things have come when I've
- 34:20Speaker 7: subtracted things out of my life, when I've eliminated them
- 34:24Speaker 7: and that wasn't the plan to do, but then I
- 34:27Speaker 7: did it. Now it's been a couple of months, it's
- 34:28Speaker 7: been really refreshing, and I've talked to a lot of family, friends,
- 34:32Speaker 7: even players and encourage them to take a break because
- 34:36Speaker 7: what happens is when you're on it. This is what
- 34:40Speaker 7: I found is you don't really realize until you're off
- 34:42Speaker 7: of it how many people, I mean, I had to
- 34:45Speaker 7: work out this morning at five o'clock at Camp Tampa
- 34:48Speaker 7: and I just watched like afterwards, how many people just
- 34:51Speaker 7: can't get out fast enough to get on their phone
- 34:52Speaker 7: and scroll away. That has really taken over what we
- 34:55Speaker 7: used to say we were worried about our kids doing.
- 34:58Speaker 7: The adults are just as bad. And so it's been
- 35:01Speaker 7: really freeing because what you do at the end of
- 35:02Speaker 7: the day is you don't compare anything. Kevin, no who
- 35:05Speaker 7: you speak to, our team, you always say comparison to
- 35:08Speaker 7: the thief of Joy. And I realized that, Okay, think
- 35:11Speaker 7: about it. You're scrolling all daylong. You see things people
- 35:14Speaker 7: that do that. Okay, you start to compare your job,
- 35:18Speaker 7: your city, your vacation, your car, your clothes, your significant other,
- 35:23Speaker 7: all those things that happened throughout the day, and then
- 35:25Speaker 7: when you're completely off of it, you're much more present
- 35:28Speaker 7: in the moment you're in because you're not seeing all
- 35:30Speaker 7: this stuff all day and seeing everybody pain how perfect
- 35:33Speaker 7: their life is. So it's been pretty refreshing and it's
- 35:36Speaker 7: been an interesting experience for me to see because I
- 35:40Speaker 7: think whenever I removed something, whether that was bad habits,
- 35:44Speaker 7: whether that was food, whether that was alcohol, whether that
- 35:48Speaker 7: was toxic relationships, now social media, anything that I've removed
- 35:51Speaker 7: throughout life, Once you remove it, you start to notice
- 35:53Speaker 7: how many people are depending on it, which you didn't
- 35:56Speaker 7: really realized before.
- 35:57Speaker 2: So, okay, philosophical Lane, love him. If you love him
- 36:04Speaker 2: or hat him, you can't deny that he's a thinker
- 36:08Speaker 2: big time, especially for this profession that he's a thinker.
- 36:11Speaker 3: He is philosophical.
- 36:13Speaker 2: He has been reflecting a lot, and that was a
- 36:17Speaker 2: damn good answer. Now, a lot of y'all people already
- 36:20Speaker 2: debating whether or not it was true or not, because
- 36:22Speaker 2: we have to debate whether anything that Lane says is
- 36:28Speaker 2: true or not. But the bottom line is he did
- 36:31Speaker 2: go in depth, Like he didn't just say it. He
- 36:33Speaker 2: walked you through several different things. He's he's one hundred
- 36:36Speaker 2: percent right, being at the gym whatever morning, and he's like,
- 36:40Speaker 2: I'm not on social media, but watching I mean, I'm
- 36:44Speaker 2: guilty watching people just walk out of the gym or restaurant.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Oh my god, I gotta check my phone. Yeah, I
- 36:50Speaker 2: got checked Twitter. What if I miss something I got?
- 36:53Speaker 2: I got check Pinterest or Instagram.
- 37:00Speaker 3: He made that up. That's a lot. Wow, you're really
- 37:05Speaker 3: album negative. It's not even negative's a great law the job.
- 37:09Speaker 3: So you think he was lying. Somebody told him. I
- 37:10Speaker 3: mean he knows.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Laane Kiffin knows how to lae. I feel very confident.
- 37:14Speaker 2: I think every human knows how to lie. But anyway,
- 37:16Speaker 2: go ahead. In the South, when we're when we're trying
- 37:21Speaker 2: to hold on to our purity, we say that, h
- 37:24Speaker 2: it's telling stories. Anyway, go ahead. It was storytelling, right,
- 37:27Speaker 2: there's no different deal. But anyway, he clinic. So your call, See,
- 37:33Speaker 2: I think that was I think that was genuine. Okay,
- 37:36Speaker 2: no way, I like it. You know, use the kid
- 37:39Speaker 2: as the prop in there. That's a great way to
- 37:41Speaker 2: get So you're saying he just he absolutely made that up.
- 37:45Speaker 3: And he and Knox Kiff and his son never had a.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Conversation about him that he could not take a break
- 37:56Speaker 2: from social media. Think you could probably take like excerpts
- 37:59Speaker 2: of that. And okay, that's true because they probably had that.
- 38:01Speaker 2: There was probably a conversation that had I'm sure not
- 38:04Speaker 2: sees how much his dad was on social media. Probably
- 38:06Speaker 2: just said it in just right and the lame was
- 38:08Speaker 2: probably way hold on. Now, yeah, I'll do that and

- 40:43Speaker 2: believe it myself, why would you believe in me? Well,
- 40:45Speaker 2: I can tell you this. The players that we watched
- 40:47Speaker 2: this week, they believe in them.

- 40:53Speaker 2: The amount of confidence you have to have to play
- 40:58Speaker 2: in this league, no owing all the fire that you're
- 41:05Speaker 2: going to take right and adversity that you're going to see,
- 41:09Speaker 2: even Trinidad, who's a star our. I mean, they're going
- 41:13Speaker 2: to face adversity, a lot of it.

- 41:16Speaker 2: But the amount of did you want first of all,
- 41:19Speaker 2: I'll ask this. You know, it took us some generations,

- 42:26Speaker 2: You know, he's got that that boyish baby face look.
