- 0:15SPEAKER_01: What is going on, ballers?
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: Welcome to another wonderful episode of the Fantasy Football Fumble.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: It's your host, MJ, and I'm coming at you with my co-host here, Joe.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: Joe, how the hell are you doing today, brother?
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Not too bad.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Still a little bit of a funk, but hey, life goes on.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: But unfortunately, uh, it seems like the injury apocalypse has already returned, and it's only week two.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: So we'll touch on that and go over a few different things uh in relation to the apocalypse.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: But how are you doing?
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, great, brother.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: And I was gonna say say a couple Hail Marys, you know, before if you have a fantasy team, because it is it has been hitting as far as injuries.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I at the end of the day, I'm very happy with my first week performance.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: This week was a terrible week, but we all are used to this, right?
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: First four four weeks of the season, you're gonna have those ups and downs, but you're gonna figure out who you want to keep on your team.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: So you just gotta make sure you make the right decision, or you know, be like me and trade off Kamara and Jamar Chase last year.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: You gotta roll with the punches, do what you gotta do, and don't panic.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Again, it's only week two.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: We'll get into all that and uh a few other things that are very important at the top of the list.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: But first, a quick word from our sponsor.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: Hey there.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: My name is Manny James Gonzalez with PRB, and I'm a real estate agent here in Central Florida.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: I'm a U.S.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: Navy veteran, military relocation pro, and big supporter of 2A and veterans' rights.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: My specialty is VA transactions, months of experience and month marginality.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: I've been living in Florida for over 20 years, and I can tell you we still believe in freedom down here.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: One of the greatest job markets, excellent economy, and no state income tax.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: When it comes to an agent, you want one that's gonna be honest, not afraid of a fight, and most importantly, you're willing to do the things that some agents aren't willing to do.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: And what's that, Manny?
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: Two straight bands.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: If you ever consider mine in Central Florida, you need somebody you can trust, and I got your sticks.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: I'm Manny James Gonzalez.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Find land for the free and home for the brave.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Welcome back, ballers.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Let's get into some news and notes.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: As I mentioned before, the injury apocalypse has returned.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: It's only week two.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: So get ready for week three.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was placed on injured reserve and will miss the next three months.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: So essentially, for fantasy purposes, his season is over.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Vikings running back Aaron Jones has also been placed on IR and will miss a minimum of four weeks.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: And the same day, Cam Akers signed with the Vikings as well.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Wouldn't really put too much stock into that.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: And also on the Vikings, JJ McCarthy is expected to miss two to four weeks with a high angle sprain.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: If they say two to four, seriously, just playing for four.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: And New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields is in the concussion protocol.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: So if you are starting him, keep an eye on that.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: And then lastly, uh just some news regarding the Houston Texans.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Wide receiver Christian Kirk is expected to play in week three.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: So if you've had him on waivers or you've just had him on your bench and you're struggling at wide receiver, I wouldn't plug him in just yet, but it might be a good uh idea to keep an eye on him, see what he does in week three.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: I really hope that he opens up the field a little bit and creates more opportunities for Nico Collins because he's struggling a little bit over the first couple weeks.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Now let's get into our hot matchups.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Why don't you kick things off, Manny?
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so for my hot matchup of the week, uh, I know you guys think I'm gonna pick the Eagles, which it was very, very tempting.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: I almost did.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: Uh, because the Eagles are are facing the Rams.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: That's gonna be a fun game.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: Honestly, the highest scoring game of the week, in my opinion, uh, is gonna be the Lions versus the Ravens.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: Uh, two powerhouses.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: Lions for the NSC, Ravens for the AFC.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: They're trying to fight for position this year because they're guys that have been in the playoffs in the last few years, they just can't break through, you know, win that full uh Super Bowl.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: So um they're gonna be looking to improve themselves here this week.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: And so uh I think whoever wins out of that, you're gonna see in uh conference championships.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: So obviously, if you have Lamar, Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, you don't let that one game fool you.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Derrick Henry is a must-start every single week.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: You know, uh wide receivers, Zay Flowers coming on strong.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: Uh he came in strong near the second half of last year.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: I think this year that's gonna be uh he's gonna be more consistent.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: So if you have that nice floor high ceiling, a great player to have, you might even be able to buy low on him right now.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, so people don't know that it's you know, he's really gonna do that all year long.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Um, obviously on the Lions side, you know, I've talked about the Lions for the last few years, you know, ever since they got uh that duo of Montgomery and Jameer Gibbs, it's been a solid backfield, you know.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: Amon Ra, you have him in the league.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: I mean, absolutely went off last game.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: Three touchdowns.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: He was a freaking monster.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Total monster.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: It was a it was such a fun game to watch because the lions said, Fuck you, we're just gonna throw some bombs on you, and they put a 50 burger on that ass.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: And they said, You and our division, dog, of course, we're gonna run up the score.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Like, what I don't wrong with you, I'd expect nothing less.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: I love it, man.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: As a fantasy owner, I am super pleased because Dan Campbell says, Fuck your feelings.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna run up the score on your ass any way I can.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: And uh, there's a couple other coaches like that over the last few years.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: I love to see it until it's my team getting smacked, then it's not so fun.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, it is it is great to see though, especially from a fantasy perspective.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: And I remember, man, when I when I was picking uh when I was drafting Amon Raw, I know I was talking it out with you, and I was deciding between Puka and Aman Ra because I said Puka's got the bigger ceiling, but Amanra's got the safer floor, and so far it's been the opposite where Puka's giving you like an even 20, 25 points, and you know, we first couple weeks been a little up and down with Amon Ra, but he came back in a big way, and um, I expect that to steady up to just some solid, really high-scoring games for him.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: Oh man, he's gonna be top three, it looks like I was wrong.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: Top number four wasn't good enough.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: It's number three.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I had Puka, I think at number three, and he's right around there.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: But I I am most excited for that game, admittedly, but for my hot uh, but for my hot matchup, I have the Bills versus the Dolphins.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: Honestly, I I think this is gonna be the ass whooping of the year.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: And although this season has been all over the place, you know, there's a lot of teams stepping up we didn't expect.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Uh, it wouldn't surprise me if this somehow turns out to be close.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: I just seriously doubt it.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: This is what I think is gonna happen.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: By the end of the first quarter, the Bills are up by about two scores, and then that lead gets progressively wider as the game continues, and they're gonna score any way they want.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Josh Allen will probably have a throwing and rushing touchdown in the first half, and I expect James Cook to have a rushing touchdown too.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: And then, you know, the second half, we're gonna see a lot of throwing from Miami trying to play catch up.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: And, you know, the thing is, if you were disappointed in the Bills receivers last week, remember this is par for the course.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: You know they're gonna score a lot of points, you just don't know exactly who it is.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: But if this turns out to be a shootout where, you know, the Bills are just having fun and Miami's trying to play catch up, they could go off again.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: You just never know who the primary target will be for Josh Allen, just like Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Anyway, I think the Dolphins will be forced to throw the ball in the second half, leading to an above-average output from Tyreek, Waddle, HN, and maybe even Tua.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: But I uh I wouldn't start Tua.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: I would I would probably start the other three and just cross my fingers for garbage time.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: If I have him on my team, obviously I'm putting HN in.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: He looked amazing last week, but I I would probably play Tyreek and Waddle too.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: And you know, one side of games aren't typically fun to watch, but they can be really fun if you need some fantasy points in that fourth quarter.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: Well, let me tell you something here.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: We were talking about earlier about Dan Campbell running that score up.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: Well, I'm gonna need uh Sean McDermott to run that score up tomorrow because because if you watch the Bills last game, Josh Allen, everybody's complaining, oh, he didn't have 12, he only had 12, 15 points, right?
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: Depending on what kind of league you're in.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: And and unfortunately, you know, the game strip just called for a better run plan.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: Like they couldn't stop the run.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: They ended up, I think James Cook had two touchdowns on the ground, right?
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: And what was the what was the final gap?
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: It was like 20 points, right?
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was uh it was a ass whooping for sure.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: And and but they were going uh most of the touchdowns were rushing, right?
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: Because I and none of them went to Josh Allen.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: I think they even handed it on the one-yard line to uh James Cook one play.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I remember that like that fake out they did.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: So I I could see that going.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: I hope it goes that way, right?
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: Um, as far as Miami, I mean, they've been this guy's basically playing for his job.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: So Mike McDaniel's gonna pull everything out of his playbook right now and just call like these wild ass plays because he's gonna want to get a job as an offensive coordinator.
- 10:19SPEAKER_01: So you're right, it could definitely be uh pretty explosive on the Miami side.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna hold my breath outside of Han.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: Uh but uh it should be a fun game overall.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Let's get into our cold calls for my cold call.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: I hate to pick these two teams again, but I'm going with the Steelers and the Patriots.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: I'm not confident in the offense for either team.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: I know the Patriots looked alright last week, and I know the Steelers looked alright in week one, but you know, they completely the Steelers completely fell off in week two, and the Patriots lost to the Raiders in week one, and they only scored 13 points.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: So, you know, yeah, last week they looked good, but they played the Miami Dolphins.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: You know, that's why I'm rubbing my hands together for the Bills playing Miami this week.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: I just think this matchup is going to be a defensive battle.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: The defense for both these teams has been average, but I both I think they're both trying to prove their top 10.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: You know, they're top 10 units.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: That's that's how they came into the season.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: They probably want to get back and prove to everyone, yeah, we are.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: And I'm not starting any offensive players with confidence aside from maybe Jalen Warren.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: I know Ramandre it looked good last week, but he's always peaks and valleys his entire career.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: So I'm just I'm not confident in starting him either.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: So I'm not really focused on any player from either team.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I can see how that could be a low-scoring affair for sure.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: Um, Aaron Rodgers only has too much so much juice left, you know what I mean?
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, week one he came out slinging, he looked awesome, spread the ball out.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: But yeah, man, I mean, that was against the Jets, too.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: You know, Jets, they got a tough secondary, and he looked really good.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: But last week against Seattle, and I know Seattle's defense is really good, um, but they really fell off.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: And I mean, the Patriots have a respectable defense, so I'm not banking on this being a high-scoring game.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, for sure.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: Now, for my cold matchup, I ended up going with Saints and Seahawks.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: Um, two teams I was not high on this year at all.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: Obviously, for any fantasy teams, I typically try to stay away from struggling teams.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: Some people say it's good to get the running back for a struggling team, but when they're behind, they're not going to be running the ball very much.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: So, uh, and these are two teams I decide not to touch this offseason or a season in the draft.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: That means I was fading uh, you know, uh uh Smith Najipa.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: Uh, you know, so I was also fading Kenneth Walker this year in my fantasy rankings just because I didn't want anything.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: And then of course I had Alvin Camara a little bit farther back as well because when you you know, if you look at him last year, he went super hard all year long.
- 13:20SPEAKER_01: He ended up being injured around week 13 or something, week 14, he was out for the rest of the season.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: So if you had Kamara all through the season, you lost him when you really needed him the most.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: You know, so it's as far as a fancy matchup, I think it's gonna be uh besides Smith and Jigba getting some burn there.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: Obviously, one of those Seattle Seahawks might get a touchdown, too.
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: It's just gonna be a really sloppy, ugly game between two quarterbacks that I'll probably not be starting after this season.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I faded both of those teams this year while I was drafting too.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: And I know that Kenneth Walker looked awesome last week, but he did not look great in week one, and I don't know what's going on with that backfield.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: But uh don't take the bait.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: Don't take the bait because Kenneth Walker's gonna look great until he gets hurt, and he has gotten hurt each of the last three seasons, so he's not someone that you can count on reliability.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, if if you're gonna take uh Walker, then you're gonna want Charbonnet on your team too.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: Just yeah, Charbonnet might be great uh as the loan back, but at the same time, he had 15 carries for 10 yards last week.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: I mean, I know the Steelers are tough, man, but they couldn't stop Kenneth Walker, but they could stop Charbonnet.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: So again, I'm confused about that backfield.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: I'm staying away from that game too.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: And I don't have really any of those guys on my I have Charbonnet on my bench in a bunch of leagues.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Um, but I I don't have much invested in either team.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: So now let's get into our shit calls.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Why don't you kick things off, Manny?
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: So for my shit call, uh last week I said the Eagles and the Chiefs were gonna be a hot matchup.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: Some guys that were gonna be coming in and scoring, it's gonna be a Super Bowl rematch.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: You know, Kansas City's gonna keep up this time, but sure enough, it was just the opposite.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: They both shut each other down.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: Um, Kansas City wrapped up Saquon kept them under 100 yards, you know, solid.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: Uh obviously, they were saying 100 yards of passing offense for Jalen Hurts.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: But uh what I love about that that game is that they don't talk about the 10-point lead there was there, you know, going into the fourth quarter, right?
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: And the Eagles were able to maintain pace, hold possession, and uh obviously make it a very uh you know defensive game.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: Same thing on Kansas City side, to their their credit, you know, they looked really good, you know, they looked dominated even at times, and the Eagles couldn't get sputter or anything together.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: So um, but either way, I thought it was gonna be high scoring, just the opposite.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: It was a defensive standoff, and you know, I was happy I got to see it because you know it was a good win for us.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it it was a good game, but as someone that has a lot of Eagles on all my teams, it was frustrating.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: It's a good game, though.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: NFL, good game.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: Fantasy, not so much.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: Now for my shit goal, I know we can't predict injuries, but I made a player profile on Justin Fields and said to make a trade for him if you're not confident in your quarterback.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: I figured if he can score three touchdowns against the Steelers, he should be fine against the Bills, but he was taken out of the game early due to a concussion, and it was a really one-sided game.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: I still believe in him for the long term, but if he doesn't pass the concussion protocol, he'll be out this week.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: So if you picked him up, I'm sorry.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: Probably gonna have to wait another week to play him.
- 17:01SPEAKER_01: That's all right.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: If if as long as he's right more than he's wrong, guys, don't, you know, just make sure you break his balls every time.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, just look at the 60%.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: That's all I'm asking.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: Hey guys, so you know, another cool thing to add, obviously, we're trying to help you out with your fantasy season.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: We want to make sure you have a good team.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: These are the weeks to make your trades, right?
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: These are the way weeks to build your team into the guys that you believe in, even if they had a down week, you know what they're capable of, you know what their schedule looks like, you got to plan accordingly, and uh just wanted to go over some options here.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: So uh a guy that I really like, if you're able to go for him, uh Chubba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: Like he was drafted late, uh, you know, third, fourth round.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: But honestly, with the workloads you're gonna get this year, you could expect him like a really nice RB2 for the entire year, maybe some RB2 plus games, but he's gonna be somebody I think has a solid floor, solid ceiling, right?
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: Um obviously, you know, everyone's making moves around right now, going for ETN.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: Um I like him.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: Not not have not paying full price right now for him, but uh someone else I like is Ted McMillan.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: Like he he got so many targets, and and he didn't even, you know, he didn't score any touchdowns.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: You know, I think he had 10 targets last game, and then the dude ended up only scoring like uh we were looking at 17 points actually, and he did have 10 targets, cost six of them 100 yards and zero touchdowns.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: So if you could get them now, I think he's uh wide receiver 19.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: He's somebody that you could pay like uh you know a backup or you know, something like that.
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: Just put together a package that you think is fit, um, but definitely somebody I would target.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I actually have Chubba Hubbard on a few of my teams, but I don't have any of Tet McMillan, and I wish I did, because I agree with you completely.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: And uh a couple other wide receivers I've been looking closely at, and I I have them, I have Debo on one team, and I have Wandale Robinson on one team.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: But there's a good chance that Wandale Robinson's on waivers.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: So if you can grab him, he's had I think he had 13 targets last game, and he's usually a guy that's just involved like in the slot and with some very short yardage here and there.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: And obviously in PPR league, you know, he's a great player to have, but uh they had him involved a little bit, they had him lined up along the side and threw some long balls to him last week, too.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: So with Russell Wilson at quarterback, it may have changed his role there a little bit.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: If you can make a low ball trade for him, I would do it if you're struggling at wide receiver.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: And I think Debo might actually get involved a little bit in the run game for the Commanders because with Eckler out, you know, Debo could slide into that role very nicely the same way he did in San Francisco.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: So I would target Debo and Wandale Robinson because I have a feeling both of those guys could blow up and surprise a lot of people this year.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: I thought Debo was washed.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: I thought Wandale Robinson was good for 10 or 12 at best, you know, those short yardage passes, that's it.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: But again, he got some deep balls last week, and Russell Wilson might have changed his role.
- 20:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it's funny because I I going into the season, I was I definitely feel like I was higher on Debo than most people just because I felt like Cliff Kingsbury was gonna make that make him that piece, right?
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: That X factor.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: And sure enough, he did like the way we love to see Debo, right?
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: Like in the backfield, taking carries, you know, catching balls in the screen or in a swing pass is like giving him a running start with some blockers ahead.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: So um definitely a great target.
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: And Wandell, man, like what to me, that's Tyler Lockett, you know, from Russell Wilson, right?
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: Russell Wilson always has that security blanket, you know, he's always looking downfield.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: If he feels he can't make that, he always goes to his third, you know, second, third read, and it hit and that happens to be Wandell.
