- 0:00Speaker 1: The following program is produced by the tech Talk Radio network.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Well get them to another episode of tech Talk Radio.
- 0:07Speaker 2: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Matt Jones, and I'm Justin. Let
- 0:11Speaker 2: me thank you for being here. Guys have been busy.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I know, Justin, you've been doing stuff for the water park.
- 0:15Speaker 2: You DJ'ed yesterday for a few hours. It was a
- 0:19Speaker 2: big event, and yeah, I had a DJ for like
- 0:21Speaker 2: five straight hours. It was It was interesting the first
- 0:24Speaker 2: couple hours, you know, I did. I did my my
- 0:26Speaker 2: my stick and and I did a lot of my
- 0:29Speaker 2: club remixes and everything.
- 0:30Speaker 3: But then I.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Started to run out of music and I was like, oh,
- 0:35Speaker 2: anybody got any requests, come on up and you know,
- 0:38Speaker 2: let me know.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I had so many kids run up to me, and
- 0:42Speaker 2: every single one of them wanted to hear one thing
- 0:46Speaker 2: I wanted to hear.
- 0:47Speaker 3: K Pop Demon Hunters.
- 0:48Speaker 4: I knew it was going to be K Pop Demon Hunters.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Ea, I knew it, Like, all right, so what is
- 0:52Speaker 1: this I've been hearing about? This isn't it like a
- 0:55Speaker 1: Netflix show or something too.
- 0:56Speaker 4: It's a movie, if I may, all right, because I
- 1:00Speaker 4: take of introducing my wife to this, and now I
- 1:02Speaker 4: have deep lore of K Pop Demon honors. K Pop
- 1:05Speaker 4: Demon Hunters is a movie on Netflix that was made
- 1:09Speaker 4: by Sony. Sony invested one hundred million dollars into this
- 1:13Speaker 4: movie sold the right to Netflix for twenty million dollars,
- 1:16Speaker 4: thinking it was going to be just something that showed
- 1:19Speaker 4: up on Netflix kind of in the back end, you know,
- 1:22Speaker 4: not a big deal. It is now the second most
- 1:25Speaker 4: streamed movie in Netflix history.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:28Speaker 4: It is the first time since two thousand and nine
- 1:32Speaker 4: that a fictional music act has been on the top
- 1:36Speaker 4: twenty charts. Back in two thousand and nine, that was
- 1:38Speaker 4: Hannah Montana a Miiley Cyrus. Every single song from that
- 1:45Speaker 4: soundtrack has hit inside of I want to say, the
- 1:48Speaker 4: top ten. It has caused a resurgence in interest in
- 1:52Speaker 4: K pop itself. It is done by the same studio
- 1:55Speaker 4: that did Spider Man into the Spider Verse. They have
- 1:59Speaker 4: pretty much con firm that there's going to be a
- 2:01Speaker 4: K Pop Demon Hunters two and three. There is rumors
- 2:04Speaker 4: of a potential live aption adaptation. And the reason that
- 2:07Speaker 4: this movie was kind of really interesting is from what
- 2:11Speaker 4: it was initially conceived of and the script was written.
- 2:14Speaker 4: It took eight years for this movie to come to fruition,
- 2:17Speaker 4: and there were there yes, because people kept passing on it.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Here's the thing that I love the most, the main
- 2:25Speaker 4: character Roomy, the Korean voice actress who does the actual
- 2:30Speaker 4: singing portion of her.
- 2:32Speaker 3: In the world of.
- 2:33Speaker 4: K pop, you have all these various studios that have
- 2:36Speaker 4: they literally call it a stable of talent, and there
- 2:39Speaker 4: is very much not only a singing aspect to it,
- 2:42Speaker 4: but an appearance aspect. To k pop, you have to
- 2:45Speaker 4: fit certain aesthetics. The girl who sang as Roomy had
- 2:49Speaker 4: been told multiple times over that she was not going
- 2:52Speaker 4: to make it. She wasn't pretty enough, she was getting
- 2:54Speaker 4: too old. So she decided when recording the demos of
- 2:58Speaker 4: these songs that we're gonna get sent out so they
- 3:01Speaker 4: could find the actual talent who would sing it. She
- 3:04Speaker 4: sang in a slightly lower register than she normally did
- 3:08Speaker 4: and gave it everything she had, and now she is
- 3:12Speaker 4: one of the biggest stars in K pop because everyone
- 3:14Speaker 4: fell in love with her voice as Rumy. She is
- 3:18Speaker 4: the lead singer for the fictional band hun Tricks. She
- 3:21Speaker 4: is the only one to sing as Roomy, and it
- 3:24Speaker 4: completely changed her career because for that time she was
- 3:27Speaker 4: like you know what, screw it. They say, I'm gonna
- 3:29Speaker 4: believe in myself. I'm gonna give this everything, and it
- 3:32Speaker 4: is skyrocketed her career.
- 3:34Speaker 2: That's cool, that's cool, it's awesome.
- 3:36Speaker 4: It is just it is such an awesome movie. To
- 3:39Speaker 4: be honest, like, I hear one of the songs at
- 3:42Speaker 4: least once a day, either from my social media feed
- 3:44Speaker 4: or my wife singing it. They're the most earwig of
- 3:47Speaker 4: earwig songs. They will crawl in your brain and not leave.
- 3:51Speaker 4: I could do three of them from memory sitting here,
- 3:54Speaker 4: minus the Korean portion.
- 3:55Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever heard one K pop song,
- 3:58Speaker 1: but you say they're on so still quite a bit.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Oh, I haven't. I don't know it.
- 4:03Speaker 4: If you've heard, the songs are like Takedown, Golden Soda,
- 4:09Speaker 4: Pop Idol. The thing was the soundtrack they had. I
- 4:13Speaker 4: think it was over thirty different songs that they recorded
- 4:15Speaker 4: for the soundtrack, and they used like seven original songs
- 4:19Speaker 4: and two songs from existing K pop acts. So they
- 4:22Speaker 4: have this whole staple of music that they can just
- 4:25Speaker 4: dig into for the next movies.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Wow, now is this live action? A live action movie?
- 4:30Speaker 3: No?
- 4:30Speaker 2: No, okay, Sam, Here's here's here's my thing about this.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Though I have watched, well at least part of the
- 4:37Speaker 2: movie with my son Eric. Now Eric has watched it
- 4:40Speaker 2: like twenty five thirty times.
- 4:42Speaker 3: He absolutely loves it.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I cannot get past the animation style.
- 4:47Speaker 3: I do not like the forced.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Slower frame rate. So normally frame rates for movies and
- 4:56Speaker 2: television is at fifty nine point nine sixty frames.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Of sexy or whatever.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Yeah, this is going at like twenty five frames a second. Really,
- 5:04Speaker 2: and it was it was mostly pronounced. The first time
- 5:07Speaker 2: it was really done, was like with the uh that
- 5:09Speaker 2: Spider Man, the animated Spider Man into the Spider.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Spider Man into the Spider Verse. Yeah, it's the same
- 5:14Speaker 4: studio who did it.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Yeah, And I cannot stand it. This this slow, like.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Like the frame rates going like like one. It's it's
- 5:24Speaker 2: just makes me sick. It makes me physically sick. Why
- 5:27Speaker 2: do you think they did that? Was It's just the style,
- 5:29Speaker 2: It's just a style.
- 5:30Speaker 3: And I looked it up. I even asked.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I even asked GROC. I was like, why do studios
- 5:34Speaker 2: do this type of animation? And it was like, well,
- 5:38Speaker 2: they do it because they want to emphasize importance or
- 5:42Speaker 2: or or a big important scene of a movie, and
- 5:46Speaker 2: I'm like, Okay, that doesn't make sense when it's the
- 5:49Speaker 2: entire movie that is like that. And it's like, well,
- 5:51Speaker 2: it reaches kids and it keeps kids engaged.
- 5:54Speaker 3: I'm like, ah, there it is.
- 5:55Speaker 2: It's it engagement. So what it's all about?
- 5:58Speaker 4: You know, it's funny prompted you to make this decision, honey, Yeah.
- 6:03Speaker 2: I just I can't stand. I can't stand the animation style.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Now is this movie streaming right now? Or is this
- 6:10Speaker 2: in theaters?
- 6:11Speaker 3: Or how is it?
- 6:13Speaker 2: How does somebody watch it?
- 6:14Speaker 4: It is actually doing both. You can watch it on Netflix.
- 6:18Speaker 4: They released it in theaters as sing along versions, and
- 6:22Speaker 4: almost every showing of these singalong versions in actual theaters
- 6:26Speaker 4: is just selling out.
- 6:27Speaker 2: See.
- 6:28Speaker 3: But there's a problem with that though.
- 6:29Speaker 2: With okay, with that really recent release of Minecraft, the
- 6:32Speaker 2: Minecraft movie and people going in there and destroying theaters,
- 6:36Speaker 2: like releasing live chickens in a theater, I feel like
- 6:41Speaker 2: this is a bad idea to bring something that popular
- 6:44Speaker 2: with that type of generation into theaters at this time, Like,
- 6:48Speaker 2: are people have their ben reports of people destroying the
- 6:52Speaker 2: theaters or jumping up on the stage and singing along
- 6:55Speaker 2: And I don't think I've heard anything.
- 6:57Speaker 4: No, I haven't. And speaking as a reformed theater kid
- 7:01Speaker 4: or former theater kid, depending on how you want to
- 7:03Speaker 4: look at things, there's also recovering is actually a better
- 7:08Speaker 4: way to put it. A recovering theater kid. I mean,
- 7:11Speaker 4: I had friends from my college days who were talking
- 7:14Speaker 4: about when they went to go see Wicked with the
- 7:16Speaker 4: single longs yeah and it's it's yes with Minecraft when
- 7:22Speaker 4: the chicken Jockey moment hit. I mean, theaters were actually
- 7:26Speaker 4: handing out to their staff the exact time that scene
- 7:30Speaker 4: would hit, in which theater to have people in there
- 7:33Speaker 4: to keep stuff calm. Wow, I haven't been seeing any
- 7:37Speaker 4: news like that, because these are just kids and adults
- 7:41Speaker 4: and everyone who just want to get together and belt
- 7:45Speaker 4: out these songs and just shown up and having just
- 7:47Speaker 4: a good time because you always sound better when you're
- 7:50Speaker 4: singing inside a large group.
- 7:53Speaker 2: You know.
- 7:53Speaker 1: It's kind It's so interesting to me because, let's face it,
- 7:56Speaker 1: the theater industry has got a battle going on right now.
- 7:59Speaker 2: I mean they do.
- 8:00Speaker 1: It's tough to get people to get it back into
- 8:03Speaker 1: the theaters. We started to see that that decline right
- 8:06Speaker 1: at the beginning of COVID, and then getting them back
- 8:08Speaker 1: into the theaters. I mean the other day I saw
- 8:11Speaker 1: an ad for Jurassic Park and I thought to myself, Man,
- 8:15Speaker 1: when's that movie coming out? And apparently it had already
- 8:18Speaker 1: come out and gone.
- 8:19Speaker 2: And you would think a movie that big would have
- 8:22Speaker 2: stuck around for a while.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I mean, I come from the Star Wars days where
- 8:26Speaker 1: the movie the movie was the theater for almost a year, right,
- 8:28Speaker 1: and the first Raiders of Lost Ark. We don't see
- 8:31Speaker 1: movies doing that anymore. And some people like I want
- 8:34Speaker 1: to go see Naked Gun. I haven't seen that yet,
- 8:37Speaker 1: but some people have said, oh, just wait for it
- 8:38Speaker 1: to be on cable. But there's something about going to
- 8:41Speaker 1: the theater and seeing the movie in the theater. It
- 8:44Speaker 1: just I want to hear people laughing and makes it
- 8:47Speaker 1: It kind.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Of makes it funnier. My favorite part about going to
- 8:50Speaker 2: the theater is paying exorbitant prices for popcorn that's stale, pizza
- 8:58Speaker 2: that is about two or three old, and then sitting
- 9:01Speaker 2: in a sticky seat, I love it, I love it,
- 9:04Speaker 2: and then and walking out of there spending how to
- 9:06Speaker 2: one hundred and fifty dollars saying I had a great time. Right,
- 9:10Speaker 2: do you remember the first movie you ever saw in
- 9:12Speaker 2: a theater Jurassic Park, really the.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Ever original, the original one.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I forget how young were I grew up in
- 9:19Speaker 2: a small town and yeah I was poor, well mostly poor,
- 9:24Speaker 2: but yeah, ar Trek generations, generations. Wow, I went to
- 9:30Speaker 2: the screening of Star Trek the motion picture. That's what
- 9:34Speaker 2: does that tell you? That's go way back now.
- 9:37Speaker 1: The first I think the first movie I saw a
- 9:39Speaker 1: theaters would have been Mary Poppins. You know, my parents
- 9:43Speaker 1: taken me to go see that one.
- 9:44Speaker 4: That was Van Dyke in the world's absolute best British accent,
- 9:49Speaker 4: just really nailed it. Maybe with one sentence I have
- 9:54Speaker 4: offended the entire United Kingdom.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Well, my dad was not a big fan of that
- 9:58Speaker 1: one either, of course was British. So yeah, that was
- 10:01Speaker 1: that was a lot of fun.
- 10:02Speaker 2: But I that's the thing.
- 10:04Speaker 1: The theater experience is different now and again they're trying
- 10:07Speaker 1: to to I know, the the Harkins theaters out here,
- 10:10Speaker 1: they're trying to do it where you can order you know,
- 10:13Speaker 1: food ahead of time, you order your seats.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Ahead of time. It's it's really different. Oh justin justin
- 10:21Speaker 2: what have you started on that? Why? What happened? To you. Well,
- 10:24Speaker 2: I mean recently I went with my son. We had
- 10:26Speaker 2: we had a father son night. We went to go
- 10:27Speaker 2: see the new Superman movie, right, and we went at
- 10:30Speaker 2: four thirty I think the thing it was a five
- 10:33Speaker 2: thirty five thirty. We went on a five thirty show.
- 10:36Speaker 2: We go in there. This is an AMC theater and
- 10:42Speaker 2: there was supposed to be you know the same thing
- 10:43Speaker 2: where you can do the food, where you can get
- 10:45Speaker 2: you know, uh, chicken tenders or hot dogs or or
- 10:49Speaker 2: hamburgers whatever. Yeah, hamburgers, yeah, sliders, little sliders. I go
- 10:53Speaker 2: up and I'm like, all right, I'll get a couple.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I'll get the I'll get the slider combo with the fries.
- 10:59Speaker 2: And Eric won the chicken tenders with the fries, and
- 11:01Speaker 2: they're like, uh, we don't have any of that. I
- 11:06Speaker 2: was like, okay, well, okay, how about the pizza. Let's listen, Eric,
- 11:10Speaker 2: you want a pizza. Yeah, okay, okay, we'll do the pizza.
- 11:13Speaker 2: We don't have that.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Okay, then what do you have?
- 11:19Speaker 2: Uh? Well, our hot dogs are frozen. We can like
- 11:23Speaker 2: deep fry them real quick. Your impression is dead on.
- 11:28Speaker 2: I was like, wait, hold up, what this is a
- 11:30Speaker 2: five thirty. This is not like the very first showing
- 11:33Speaker 2: of the day, right, Like, there's no food available and
- 11:39Speaker 2: I'm like, well, we skipped eating dinner out outside because
- 11:42Speaker 2: we wanted to give you our money and eat here,
- 11:44Speaker 2: but obviously we can't. So now we're gonna have to
- 11:47Speaker 2: dine on Reese's peanut butter cups and coke. We can,
- 11:52Speaker 2: we can do some chicken tenders. I'm like, okay, fine,
- 11:55Speaker 2: how many chicken nuggets do I get with an order?
- 11:57Speaker 3: You get six? Like, fine, give me two orders of that?
- 12:00Speaker 2: How much?
- 12:01Speaker 3: And then well, hold on, I'll get to that way.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Yeah. We finally get the chicken tenders and I'm like,
- 12:06Speaker 2: there's there's four of them and I'm like, uh hello,
- 12:10Speaker 2: and they're like it's predetermined.
- 12:13Speaker 3: I can't do anything about that.
- 12:15Speaker 2: I'm like, then, put two orders in a box, like
- 12:19Speaker 2: you told me six, there's four. Here's how you do
- 12:21Speaker 2: simple math. We ordered two orders of chicken tenders. There's
- 12:24Speaker 2: four in a box. It's supposed to come with six.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Put down three orders of chicken tenders and split them.
- 12:30Speaker 2: This is why you get paid minimum wage.
- 12:32Speaker 4: Damn it, justin Math is really hard when you're that high.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I swear to god, they were high, not even just
- 12:41Speaker 2: on that, something else too. And then the popcorn tasted
- 12:44Speaker 2: like crap. The soda was flat. And then and then
- 12:48Speaker 2: to come to find out, we ordered the IMAX three
- 12:51Speaker 2: D tickets for Superman, which I did not want three D,
- 12:54Speaker 2: but we had to go because that was onely thing
- 12:56Speaker 2: showing and did not say that on the tickets.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not going back to AMC.
- 13:01Speaker 4: So and then the kids got on Justin's lawn and
- 13:04Speaker 4: his whole night was ruined, and get off my lawn.
- 13:10Speaker 2: But that's the whole thing, right man.
- 13:13Speaker 4: I mean to your point earlier where you're like, the
- 13:15Speaker 4: movie industry is dying, I think it's I think it's
- 13:18Speaker 4: twofold here. I think there's two parts to this. One
- 13:22Speaker 4: is the equality of service the large chains is drastically diminished.
- 13:30Speaker 4: We honestly, we went to the Harkins Theater here in
- 13:33Speaker 4: old town Eravada and had a much better experience than AMC.
- 13:37Speaker 4: But the best experience we've had recently has been Alamo
- 13:40Speaker 4: Draft House. Hands down.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Alamo is I'll give it to al This is why
- 13:45Speaker 2: Alamo's killing AMC.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Alamo is good.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Is that one of those theaters because we have one
- 13:49Speaker 1: called roadhouse out here. That is you go, you sit
- 13:52Speaker 1: in a recliner, you get you get service, you get
- 13:56Speaker 1: a restaurant experience. You can order a dream your beverage there.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I mean, people really are liking that experience. They're paying
- 14:04Speaker 1: for it, but they like.
- 14:05Speaker 3: It, and that that's why Alamo's killing AMC.
- 14:08Speaker 4: But the other the so you you've got the decrease
- 14:11Speaker 4: in service, right, increase in costs, decrease in return on
- 14:14Speaker 4: what you're paying. You're paying more for movie tickets, you're
- 14:17Speaker 4: paying more more for crappier food. It's just you're not
- 14:21Speaker 4: getting a real return on that money. The other thing
- 14:27Speaker 4: is the people. And honestly, it's the other people in
- 14:30Speaker 4: the theater with me. Like if there's something in the
- 14:32Speaker 4: scene and I think I've got a hilarious joke or
- 14:35Speaker 4: some little comment, I will lean like really into Lee's
- 14:39Speaker 4: ear and just like really quietly whisperable respect to exactly
- 14:43Speaker 4: to make sure I don't bother somebody else. And then
- 14:45Speaker 4: some other dude in the background will be yelling at
- 14:48Speaker 4: the at the screen, or somebody's got their phone on
- 14:51Speaker 4: because they need to live stream that they're sitting at
- 14:54Speaker 4: this theater.
- 14:55Speaker 5: There's just a oh my god, guys, I'm here at
- 14:57Speaker 5: that new Superman and it's like right in the class
- 15:00Speaker 5: Mac scene and I'm just sitting here with all my
- 15:02Speaker 5: ten followers. Thank you so much for following. Hit the
- 15:04Speaker 5: subscribe button please.
- 15:06Speaker 4: Uh justin, I want to make one change to that
- 15:09Speaker 4: otherwise it's spot on. Remember, remember, guys, smash that like
- 15:13Speaker 4: and subscribe button. We got to get those numbers, gribe.
- 15:17Speaker 4: But it's everyone is so involved in their own little
- 15:20Speaker 4: world forgetting that everybody else is there. And the other one,
- 15:24Speaker 4: and this is the one that drove me nuts, is
- 15:27Speaker 4: we went to a movie theater and I I am
- 15:30Speaker 4: always very particular if we can pick our seats ahead
- 15:32Speaker 4: of the time. I'm very very particular about where we
- 15:35Speaker 4: sit because I know where the audio engineers sit when
- 15:39Speaker 4: they tune those theaters, and I want those seats there.
- 15:44Speaker 4: They will sit in the center one third of the
- 15:47Speaker 4: way back from the screen for the lower section and
- 15:50Speaker 4: for tuning stadium from the front of the stadium in
- 15:53Speaker 4: the middle one third of the way back.
- 15:55Speaker 2: True, yep, I used to manage a theater, so yeah,
- 15:58Speaker 2: you're dead on.
- 15:59Speaker 4: I want those seats and I picked those specifically and
- 16:02Speaker 4: came in and there was a dude sitting in our
- 16:04Speaker 4: seats and I was like, hey man, I'm real sorry,
- 16:06Speaker 4: but those are my seats. And he was like, there's
- 16:08Speaker 4: a big empty theater. You can grab another seat. And
- 16:10Speaker 4: I was like, no, sir, you can get up and
- 16:13Speaker 4: grab another seat. I picked those for a reason. Don't
- 16:16Speaker 4: make me get someone move. He's like people today, and
- 16:21Speaker 4: I'm like, you're stealing my seat and you want to
- 16:24Speaker 4: pull the people today? Like, what do you like on
- 16:26Speaker 4: an airline?
- 16:27Speaker 3: You than you? Or older?
- 16:29Speaker 2: No?
- 16:29Speaker 4: He was older than me.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Wow.
- 16:32Speaker 4: So it's just the lack there's there's a lack of
- 16:35Speaker 4: societal respect at this point for this cinema experience. And
- 16:39Speaker 4: then the cinema experience is costing so dang much that honestly, like,
- 16:44Speaker 4: I'd rather you you now have Fandango you No, it's
- 16:49Speaker 4: Fandango at home. It used to be Voodoo and Amazon
- 16:53Speaker 4: Prime both have a cinema in the home. Like, once
- 16:56Speaker 4: the movie has been out for like two three weeks,
- 16:59Speaker 4: you can twenty bucks and stream it at the house. Yeah,
- 17:02Speaker 4: am I gonna pay you know, twenty five thirty forty
- 17:06Speaker 4: however much for a ticket. And then if we want food,
- 17:09Speaker 4: and then if you want drinks, and then there's parking
- 17:11Speaker 4: and there's good or am I just gonna pay twenty
- 17:13Speaker 4: bucks and watch it in my home basement?
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah? In your pajamas.
- 17:17Speaker 4: Yeah, in my pajamas. Yeah, with my dogs.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Wow. People, you have you been to the theater lately?
- 17:22Speaker 2: Most people are coming in their pajamas.
- 17:24Speaker 4: Anyway, So that's fair.
- 17:25Speaker 3: That's fair.
- 17:26Speaker 2: That doesn't like that's after shopping at Walmart.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Gone through some definite changes and some you know, I
- 17:35Speaker 1: don't know what it would take to get people to
- 17:37Speaker 1: get back into the movie theaters. But maybe this K
- 17:40Speaker 1: pop thing, maybe you're onto something there.
- 17:42Speaker 4: The other thing that really drove you to go to
- 17:44Speaker 4: the movies were previews, and you would see previews in
- 17:49Speaker 4: the commercial breaks where you'd see a preview'd be like,
- 17:52Speaker 4: oh wow, because you would always in a world we're
- 17:56Speaker 4: one man like man I k met Like the good
- 18:00Speaker 4: previews didn't give away of the movie, right. I So
- 18:06Speaker 4: the complete destruction of cable TV as well of everyone's
- 18:10Speaker 4: like I don't want to watch something with commercials. If
- 18:13Speaker 4: I want to watch entertaining commercials, I'll go on YouTube.
- 18:16Speaker 4: And I know they are now YouTube channels dedicated to
- 18:19Speaker 4: movie previews. Occasionally I'll be like, I have no idea
- 18:22Speaker 4: what the heck's coming out for the rest of this year,
- 18:25Speaker 4: so I'm gonna pop in that. And it's like top
- 18:27Speaker 4: movies coming out in summer at twenty twenty five or
- 18:29Speaker 4: fall or winter whatever, so I'll watch those. But you know,
- 18:33Speaker 4: as we see more and more cord cutting, like, how
- 18:36Speaker 4: am I going to watch a trailer unless I go
- 18:37Speaker 4: hunt it out, I'm not going to. It's not served
- 18:40Speaker 4: to me anymore, which leads to a lovely listener question,
- 18:45Speaker 4: All right, we can. We'll dive with that for a second.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Steve Steve from Tucson has said, I've been thinking more
- 18:52Speaker 4: frequently about getting rid of my cable television service. I
- 18:55Speaker 4: ditched it a few years ago and tried the antenna,
- 18:57Speaker 4: but honestly I was disappointed, so I went back. Now
- 19:00Speaker 4: the rates even higher. I know the technology is better,
- 19:02Speaker 4: and I've heard lately you mentioned YouTube TV. Is it
- 19:05Speaker 4: worth the eighty bucks or so a month? Thanks for
- 19:07Speaker 4: your thoughts, justin I know you still have YouTube TV.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Yes, well, I mean, honestly, I yeah, cable is atrocious
- 19:16Speaker 2: in terms of it just pretty much everything about they've
- 19:18Speaker 2: been losing so many customers over the years because you know,
- 19:22Speaker 2: cable for the longest time, they stuck to their guns
- 19:24Speaker 2: and they're like, no, we're not gonna give you all
- 19:26Speaker 2: a cart We're gonna you're gonna have to buy the
- 19:29Speaker 2: packages and there's gonna be one channel you want and
- 19:32Speaker 2: sixty other channels you're never gonna watch, but you're gonna
- 19:34Speaker 2: pay forty five dollars a month for that package. And
- 19:37Speaker 2: people were just like, look, this is not what we want.
- 19:39Speaker 2: We want all a carte. We want to pick the
- 19:41Speaker 2: channels and we'll pay for them. Five dollars here, five
- 19:43Speaker 2: dollars there. They wouldn't do it. YouTube TV comes around
- 19:46Speaker 2: and people are dropping cable like a bad habit. And
- 19:50Speaker 2: I have YouTube TV and I absolutely love it. The
- 19:52Speaker 2: best part about YouTube TV is that I love is
- 19:55Speaker 2: there's unlimited DVR, so I don't have to actually pick
- 19:58Speaker 2: a time frame of a show. I just simply say
- 20:02Speaker 2: I like, I don't know Lego Masters, I like Lego Masters,
- 20:07Speaker 2: and I click the plus button on it, and every
- 20:10Speaker 2: single episode of Lego Masters get stored into my quote
- 20:13Speaker 2: unquote library. Now it's not a recording of it. It
- 20:16Speaker 2: just simply references that when I want to watch it,
- 20:19Speaker 2: because everything is streamed no matter what you do, you're
- 20:22Speaker 2: not recording anything locally.
- 20:24Speaker 3: You're just streaming it.
- 20:25Speaker 2: So I can easily find what I like when I want,
- 20:30Speaker 2: and pretty much every single channel I want is on there.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Now. I do pay I think it's an extra ten
- 20:36Speaker 3: bucks a month.
- 20:37Speaker 2: For the four K package, which I get about twenty
- 20:41Speaker 2: or so channels of four K content. I also pay
- 20:47Speaker 2: I think ten dollars extra to get the Sports package,
- 20:51Speaker 2: which then gets me an NFL Red Zone. Plus it
- 20:54Speaker 2: gets me like Poker the Poker Channel, which I love
- 20:57Speaker 2: watching live post I do. I love watching white post
- 21:00Speaker 2: so the Poker Channel, and then a bunch of other
- 21:02Speaker 2: like eclectic sports channels like cricket and things that I
- 21:07Speaker 2: probably don't ever watch, but it's all there if I
- 21:09Speaker 2: want to. So I pay about one hundred dollars a month,
- 21:12Speaker 2: which is I guess kind of on par with cable.
- 21:15Speaker 2: But I absolutely love it now as we have an
- 21:17Speaker 2: internet connection, you're good. Let me ask you this.
- 21:20Speaker 1: One of the things with it, the say infinities, the
- 21:22Speaker 1: service I have. One of the things we found. Okay,
- 21:25Speaker 1: if I want a DVR. I have two DVRs.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I pay ten dollars for one of them and twelve
- 21:30Speaker 2: dollars for the other. Right there, that's twenty two bucks
- 21:33Speaker 2: in fees I'm paying just to have a DVR.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Then I've got the taxes that I pay to for
- 21:41Speaker 1: this municipality, and this for this tax, and this for
- 21:45Speaker 1: there's tax.
- 21:46Speaker 2: That you pay. Do you do that with YouTube TV?
- 21:48Speaker 2: I mean, do you have to pay for equipment to
- 21:50Speaker 2: be able to watch some of this stuff on YouTube
- 21:52Speaker 2: TV other than having an Internet connection?
- 21:55Speaker 4: No, because it's literally on any smart device that you've got.
- 21:58Speaker 4: It's just an app, like on my LGTV upstairs, on
- 22:03Speaker 4: my Sony TV down here, on my Roku right here,
- 22:05Speaker 4: it's just you go and get the YouTube TV app,
- 22:09Speaker 4: you sign into your account and that's it.
- 22:11Speaker 2: How many devices okay, this is a good one for
- 22:13Speaker 2: Steve too. How many devices?
- 22:15Speaker 1: So we've got one, two, three, four, four, five televisions
- 22:19Speaker 1: at our home, but only two can get cable. The
- 22:22Speaker 1: rest are connected to Roku because we only have two
- 22:25Speaker 1: cable boxes.
- 22:27Speaker 2: So how many accounts can actually watch YouTube at the
- 22:31Speaker 2: same time, or how many accounts can you have to
- 22:33Speaker 2: be able to watch it?
- 22:34Speaker 4: You can have, and I just looked this up to
- 22:36Speaker 4: make sure I got it right. The actual Google support
- 22:39Speaker 4: document says YouTube has a three active streams device limit,
- 22:45Speaker 4: but as Justin said, if you get the four K
- 22:48Speaker 4: plus add on, that's unlimited in home streams.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Yeah wow, But I mean, honestly, I mean, I have
- 22:55Speaker 2: three TVs, so it doesn't really mean much for me,
- 22:58Speaker 2: and we're only usually watching one or two at the time,
- 23:01Speaker 2: but that's the quality. And do you get local channels, Yes,
- 23:04Speaker 2: we get local channels. All the local channels is based
- 23:07Speaker 2: on based on your area. Now, Now, when I was
- 23:09Speaker 2: traveling and I would be let's say, in uh, Chicago
- 23:14Speaker 2: or whatever, if my family was watching YouTube TV, which honestly,
- 23:18Speaker 2: Lisa would never watch YouTube without me here because she
- 23:20Speaker 2: watches Japanese TV. But in the op chance that Eric
- 23:24Speaker 2: might be watching YouTube TV and I would log in
- 23:26Speaker 2: from Chicago, it would say, you know, verify your identity
- 23:31Speaker 2: first off, and I'd have to retype my password in
- 23:33Speaker 2: and then would.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Say, okay, it is you. You must be traveling.
- 23:37Speaker 2: We're gonna we're gonna keep you on the same here,
- 23:39Speaker 2: but we're not gonna give you Chicago local channels. We're
- 23:42Speaker 2: gonna give you your Denver channels, so they wouldn't they
- 23:46Speaker 2: wouldn't like lock me out of that, but I absolutely
- 23:50Speaker 2: love it. Now.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Another part of.
- 23:51Speaker 2: It is uh, well, actually not nice to YouTube TV.
- 23:54Speaker 2: But I'm also on Google five as my cell phone provider,
- 23:58Speaker 2: which rides off the Team Mobile network. With Google five,
- 24:01Speaker 2: I also get YouTube, not YouTube TV, but I get
- 24:03Speaker 2: YouTube Premium included with my Google five, so I don't
- 24:10Speaker 2: have to get any ads on any YouTube video that
- 24:13Speaker 2: I watch.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Well, so if the kids are watching Number Blocks, which
- 24:18Speaker 1: you start them on a Number Blocks, it runs for
- 24:20Speaker 1: twelve minutes, then you get four minutes of ads, so
- 24:23Speaker 1: this would eliminate that mm hm oh.
- 24:26Speaker 4: And I think it was. I'm not sure when exactly
- 24:30Speaker 4: it happened, but another big draw towards YouTube TV for
- 24:36Speaker 4: the sports world is for longest time, NFL Sunday Ticket
- 24:40Speaker 4: was a Direct TV exclusive, and Sunday Ticket is where
- 24:45Speaker 4: you can it doesn't matter what your team is, where
- 24:47Speaker 4: you're living, you get every single game. Red Zone is
- 24:51Speaker 4: great for fantasy football people like Justin and I because
- 24:54Speaker 4: you've got a window with four games going and those
- 24:57Speaker 4: games continually change out to whoever's closest to scoring a
- 25:01Speaker 4: touchdown at that moment, it is awesome. Sunday Ticket gets
- 25:05Speaker 4: you every single game that's playing, and you can now
- 25:09Speaker 4: do that except on youtubeas except for in market games, correct,
- 25:13Speaker 4: because that's a contracting and I'm not a lawyer for that.
- 25:17Speaker 4: But you can get Sunday Ticket on YouTube TV now
- 25:20Speaker 4: as well.
- 25:20Speaker 2: All right now, for Steve, then that would be a
- 25:23Speaker 2: definite positive. You would say, give it a try, give
- 25:26Speaker 2: you Tube team souly. Now. If Sean was here, definitely
- 25:29Speaker 2: he would be singing the praises of YouTube TV because
- 25:32Speaker 2: his whole family has gotten YouTube TV and they absolutely
- 25:35Speaker 2: love it.
- 25:36Speaker 1: All right now, one thing we got to mention before
- 25:38Speaker 1: we got to take a break. But one thing we
- 25:40Speaker 1: got to mention though before we do is YouTube TV
- 25:44Speaker 1: now though unfortunately is battling with Fox Corporation, and that
- 25:49Speaker 1: might mean that, you know, as airtime as a record
- 25:52Speaker 1: time for this show, some people are maybe without their
- 25:56Speaker 1: sports channels that they've been wanting to watch. With YouTube TV,
- 25:59Speaker 1: the FI channels could be blocked out. Eight million subscribers
- 26:04Speaker 1: that use YouTube TV may not be able to watch
- 26:06Speaker 1: some of the games, even though YouTube is saying a
- 26:09Speaker 1: ten dollars credit if the blackout happens, this could affect
- 26:12Speaker 1: the sports programming on there that is accurate.
- 26:16Speaker 4: The one other because I know, we got to go
- 26:18Speaker 4: for a break. The other quick benefit for Steve from Tucson.
- 26:21Speaker 4: There is no contract, so YouTube TV is literally month
- 26:25Speaker 4: to month. If there is a month you're going to
- 26:26Speaker 4: be completely gone and you're not gonna watch TV at all,
- 26:29Speaker 4: you can just cancel or pause that subscription and not
- 26:32Speaker 4: pay for it that month and you lose nothing.
- 26:35Speaker 2: One more thing too, There is a trial that they do.
- 26:39Speaker 2: I know that. I don't know how long it is,
- 26:40Speaker 2: if it's a week of two.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Weeks, but they can actually try it out and if
- 26:44Speaker 1: they want to give it a shot to see if
- 26:46Speaker 1: they're going to like it, that's probably.
- 26:47Speaker 2: The smartest thing to do. But awice way to do it,
- 26:51Speaker 2: got to take a break.
- 26:51Speaker 1: We come back. We do have more listener questions. We'll
- 26:55Speaker 1: talk more about tech tech as we come back with
- 26:58Speaker 1: tech talk Radio.
- 26:59Speaker 2: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Matt Jones, and I'm Justin. Let
- 27:02Speaker 2: me find us on the web at tech talk radio
- 27:04Speaker 2: dot com.
- 27:04Speaker 3: We'll be right back now back to tech talk Radio.
- 27:09Speaker 4: Last time I was in we started talking about my
- 27:11Speaker 4: home lab.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and.
- 27:13Speaker 4: The work that I've been doing on that. And I
- 27:15Speaker 4: know the listeners are like, oh good, he gets to
- 27:17Speaker 4: talk about his home lab again, yay. So I just
- 27:21Speaker 4: have to share some pain that I went through for this.
- 27:24Speaker 4: So I've got all these cameras because I wanted to
- 27:26Speaker 4: get off the Google infrastructure and own my data again. Right.
- 27:31Speaker 4: So I got all my new cameras put up, and
- 27:34Speaker 4: I was I had had an old Lenovo think Center,
- 27:38Speaker 4: like a little one that was initially working as my
- 27:41Speaker 4: NVR and was ingesting the logs. And when I did that,
- 27:44Speaker 4: it was it was quick, it was easy to set up.
- 27:46Speaker 4: Then I was like, I can do more. So I
- 27:48Speaker 4: went to a great little eBay story that I know
- 27:51Speaker 4: that supports a great, great purpose. It's the Nevada School
- 27:56Speaker 4: for the Blind. They actually refurbish equipment and sell it
- 28:00Speaker 4: for dirty cheap. I buy it from there. So I
- 28:03Speaker 4: bought an old Dell Precision Tower, and because it was
- 28:06Speaker 4: an older one, I could get the completely upgraded Xenon
- 28:09Speaker 4: chip for that machine for like thirty bucks. I got.
- 28:13Speaker 4: The only thing I really spent on was a in
- 28:16Speaker 4: Nvidia RTX A two thousand, because I wanted the coup
- 28:19Speaker 4: decors to start doing AI work, and I spent like
- 28:23Speaker 4: thirty bucks per chip on Google Coral TPU machine learning chips.
- 28:29Speaker 4: So I now have a completely overpowered box that I
- 28:33Speaker 4: should not really need in my house and I was
- 28:36Speaker 4: setting that up as my new NVR and I install
- 28:39Speaker 4: Frigate on there. Fast forward twenty one hours later, when
- 28:43Speaker 4: I finally managed to get it to just ingest the
- 28:46Speaker 4: camera logs. Because by adding all these cool toys, I
- 28:49Speaker 4: added all this complexity. And I finally reach out to
- 28:53Speaker 4: a support subreddit and I was like, what do I
- 28:55Speaker 4: do here? And they were like, well, the first step
- 28:57Speaker 4: will be delete Frigate and go to script it. I
- 29:00Speaker 4: was like, I've never heard of this, so I look
- 29:02Speaker 4: it up and I decide to give it a try.
- 29:04Speaker 4: So I go into Docker and I turn off the
- 29:06Speaker 4: Frigate instance container that I've got there, and I spin
- 29:09Speaker 4: up one for scripted. Thirty minutes later. What took me
- 29:14Speaker 4: twenty one hours with Frigate is done inside of scripted.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Oh you're kidding me? Oh wow?
- 29:20Speaker 4: So I taught chet GPT some new words. Then jump
- 29:24Speaker 4: forward four hours after that. By the way, my record
- 29:28Speaker 4: is two for two now. Claude also swears back to me.
- 29:31Speaker 4: But I haven't sworn at Claude, so I don't know
- 29:33Speaker 4: how it picked that up. But anyways, jump forward four
- 29:37Speaker 4: hours later and I now have full AI detection on
- 29:41Speaker 4: all of my cameras. It will actually draw a box
- 29:44Speaker 4: around like my pets as they're walking through the house
- 29:47Speaker 4: and be like a Zerra ninety eight percent trip ninety
- 29:50Speaker 4: four percent. And it's that sure that it's those animals.
- 29:54Speaker 4: It'll track Lee and I. It'll let me know. It
- 29:56Speaker 4: actually takes a picture of the cars that drive in
- 29:58Speaker 4: front of my house, then zooms in and gives me
- 30:01Speaker 4: a picture of the license plates. No way, are you
- 30:03Speaker 4: kidds So not at all. I can actually set up
- 30:06Speaker 4: something where I can have a database of all the
- 30:08Speaker 4: license plates that drive around my house.
- 30:11Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 30:13Speaker 4: I can create I can create skyn It. Yes I
- 30:15Speaker 4: have yours too. I can create sky in It in
- 30:18Speaker 4: my house.
- 30:19Speaker 1: But my camera, my camera can't even pick up the
- 30:21Speaker 1: person walking by in the sidewalk to tell that, Yeah,
- 30:26Speaker 1: and you're picking up license plates.
- 30:28Speaker 4: I'm picking up license plates. I'm picking up faces packages.
- 30:32Speaker 4: But this past weekend I was like, I'm gonna go
- 30:34Speaker 4: old school and I'm gonna build myself something fun. I'm
- 30:37Speaker 4: gonna build a Minecraft server. Building a Minecraft server the
- 30:40Speaker 4: last time I did this was significantly easier than if
- 30:44Speaker 4: you're trying to throw in. They're like, oh, you're throwing mods.
- 30:47Speaker 4: It's nice and easy. Now, No, it's not, because you
- 30:50Speaker 4: have to match not only your Minecraft instance, whatever fabric
- 30:55Speaker 4: or forge or whatever you're doing. So finally I hit
- 30:57Speaker 4: a point where Lee was like, you need to walk
- 30:59Speaker 4: away from this. You have been hammering at this thing
- 31:02Speaker 4: for months, Please take a break. So here's where I
- 31:05Speaker 4: give a shout out in terms of gaming, justin after
- 31:08Speaker 4: I just I want to know what game you've been
- 31:09Speaker 4: playing lately. But I started playing an action rpg, which,
- 31:13Speaker 4: for those who don't know, is like a Diablo style
- 31:16Speaker 4: game that my buddy recommended called Last Epoch right, and
- 31:21Speaker 4: it's it's your standard like kind of fantasy based action RPG,
- 31:27Speaker 4: clicky game. It's a ton of fun. And then all
- 31:30Speaker 4: of a sudden, time travel gets involved and I'm just
- 31:34Speaker 4: sitting there playing this game. And the other thing that's
- 31:36Speaker 4: great for people who like to play with other people
- 31:38Speaker 4: is the power leveling in this game is unreal. My
- 31:41Speaker 4: buddy logged in with me when I was level fifteen
- 31:44Speaker 4: and he was like, oh, let me help you out.
- 31:47Speaker 4: Not even three hours later, when I'm signing off for
- 31:50Speaker 4: the night and I'm level thirty nine, I'm just following
- 31:54Speaker 4: him around like a lost puppy in the dungeons, just
- 31:57Speaker 4: picking up the gold because he's just LEVELFP. He was
- 32:00Speaker 4: level fifty five. Okay, so I'm walking around he's just
- 32:04Speaker 4: seeing a mob and he's like nope, nope. I'm just like, thanks,
- 32:07Speaker 4: thanks for the gold, buddy. This is great watching my
- 32:10Speaker 4: character just ding ding ding.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Wow.
- 32:13Speaker 4: But with that, justin, what have you been playing? Because
- 32:16Speaker 4: I know you got back into something.
- 32:18Speaker 1: I want it real quick. Justin before this, I got
- 32:20Speaker 1: to ask this question. You're talking about reading license.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Plates, which care because I'm I'm in the Google infrastructure.
- 32:26Speaker 2: I have the Nest devices and you know, they made
- 32:29Speaker 2: a big deal.
- 32:30Speaker 1: They got their new cameras out. They just announced two
- 32:32Speaker 1: K cameras for the Nest and different colors, which I
- 32:37Speaker 1: don't understand that one because I want them to be
- 32:39Speaker 1: as you know, obscure as possible, so you can't even
- 32:42Speaker 1: tell there's camera there.
- 32:44Speaker 2: What cameras are you you running? What did you switch to.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Google running two K is really cute. I am running
- 32:54Speaker 4: Real Link cameras, and my cameras are all either four
- 32:59Speaker 4: K or A.
- 33:00Speaker 2: I heard the real links look great. They I just
- 33:04Speaker 2: a really great.
- 33:05Speaker 4: With justin Which real Link did you get?
- 33:08Speaker 2: I don't even remember the exact models. I got a
- 33:10Speaker 2: couple of Loomis, I got a couple Argus. I got
- 33:13Speaker 2: the doorbell cam. I got the Floodlight garage door cam.
- 33:17Speaker 2: So I got a doorbell cam.
- 33:19Speaker 4: Yeah, the Floodlight one is the new duo Elite. The
- 33:24Speaker 4: thing to know for people who are a little more
- 33:27Speaker 4: on the techie side is if you want to be
- 33:28Speaker 4: able to kind of do what I'm doing, you need
- 33:31Speaker 4: a camera that has RTSP. Uh, it's a stream from
- 33:36Speaker 4: your camera. The Argus series of cameras from Real Link
- 33:41Speaker 4: have basically locked down access to RTSP so that it's
- 33:45Speaker 4: kind of locked into their Did you get into it
- 33:48Speaker 4: because I couldn't get into the first Argust that I had.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I got into it ease of that. It's
- 33:52Speaker 3: bought their NVR, so that's the.
- 33:54Speaker 4: Thing is it'll pair with their NVR really well.
- 33:57Speaker 2: But when I would you told me a days ago,
- 34:00Speaker 2: you were like, oh, my god, this is being ridiculous difficult.
- 34:03Speaker 2: I can't really make this work. This was the day
- 34:06Speaker 2: that I ordered my stuff and I said, you know what,
- 34:08Speaker 2: let me just go ahead and toss in that NBR
- 34:10Speaker 2: because I'm not going to deal.
- 34:12Speaker 3: With because I have a sonology just like you.
- 34:14Speaker 2: And I was thinking, oh great, I can finally put
- 34:17Speaker 2: my sonology to some serious powerhouse use by recording all
- 34:20Speaker 2: my cameras. And then Matt was like, I am pulling
- 34:23Speaker 2: my hair out. I have like my skin is not
- 34:26Speaker 2: doing well, and I am stressed as heck, and I'm like, yeah,
- 34:30Speaker 2: I'll just buy the NVR. Yeah there.
- 34:32Speaker 4: Yeah, that was the day that I killed frigate.
- 34:34Speaker 3: That was literally the day.
- 34:37Speaker 4: But but the the other ones that I have upfront,
- 34:40Speaker 4: the real Link duo threes are really cool because they
- 34:43Speaker 4: have two four K cameras in them slightly offset from
- 34:48Speaker 4: each other, so it stitches a complete one hundred and
- 34:51Speaker 4: eighty degree view from where the camera's sitting, so I
- 34:54Speaker 4: see my entire front and honestly kind of wrap the
- 34:58Speaker 4: way I angled it wrapped around the side a little bit.
- 35:01Speaker 4: The coverage, the resolution, uh, some of them have built
- 35:06Speaker 4: in spotlights. They've also if you see real link cameras
- 35:09Speaker 4: that have c X, they have full color night light
- 35:14Speaker 4: as long as there is a modicum of illumination which
- 35:18Speaker 4: it can actually provide itself. It is full color night visions.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Maybe it's a small amount. Yeah, I've never heard that word.
- 35:27Speaker 2: In mind something you have learned today? Justint modicum. That
- 35:31Speaker 2: is your sa T word for That would be the
- 35:33Speaker 2: name of the show this week. It's a modicum. You
- 35:36Speaker 2: got to figure out how to spell it down. Modicum
- 35:38Speaker 2: of a knowledge. Now, all right, So justin what game?
- 35:41Speaker 2: What game are you playing? Uh? Well, I mean I'm
- 35:44Speaker 2: always bouncing back and forth between games, but I I
- 35:46Speaker 2: don't know why, but I did get myself back into
- 35:49Speaker 2: a game called Star Citizen. We've talked about this years
- 35:52Speaker 2: and years ago on the show. Is a it's a
- 35:55Speaker 2: it's a fully integrated it's like space simulator, multiplayer, persistent universe.
- 36:01Speaker 2: I mean, there's always people playing all hours of the day.
- 36:05Speaker 2: And the interesting thing about Star Citizen it was created
- 36:09Speaker 2: by a guy named Chris Roberts who was the creator
- 36:12Speaker 2: of old games way back in like the early nineties,
- 36:15Speaker 2: late eighties, early nineties called Privateer, Wing Commander all those games.
- 36:21Speaker 2: I lost the Commander.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and so did I. I absolutely loved Privateer.
- 36:25Speaker 2: I Wing Commander was okay, not mine, but I loved
- 36:29Speaker 2: Privateer because I loved hauling cargo around from base to base.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Was it a movie or was it a movie first
- 36:35Speaker 1: or a game first? Wing Commander, No, it was It
- 36:38Speaker 1: was a game first and then and then it.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Became a movie. Yeah.
- 36:41Speaker 4: Yeah, But but I did have Mark Hamill in the game, yes, right,
- 36:46Speaker 4: he had a voice in the game.
- 36:47Speaker 3: Yes.
- 36:48Speaker 2: So when my buddy told me about this back in
- 36:50Speaker 2: twenty eighteen, was when when he told me about it,
- 36:54Speaker 2: I was like, wait, hold on, Chris Roberts like, oh
- 36:56Speaker 2: my god, I gotta get into this. This game was
- 36:58Speaker 2: actually Kickstar back in twenty twelve with an release date
- 37:03Speaker 2: of twenty fourteen. It is twenty twenty five currently, and
- 37:07Speaker 2: it is still an alpha. Like there's alpha, there's beta,
- 37:12Speaker 2: and then there's the full release.
- 37:14Speaker 3: This is still an alpha. But here's the thing.
- 37:17Speaker 2: This company has raised over eight hundred and fifty million dollars,
- 37:22Speaker 2: which is the largest Kickstarter campaign ever. It's not even
- 37:26Speaker 2: a Kickstar campaign anymore. You can go to their store,
- 37:29Speaker 2: and this is the reason they're making money is you
- 37:31Speaker 2: go to the store, and you can buy ships, and
- 37:35Speaker 2: these ships will persist with you throughout all the iterations
- 37:40Speaker 2: of the game, because when they release a new major patch,
- 37:43Speaker 2: they usually wipe it. They wipe it, so you're back
- 37:46Speaker 2: to square one. If you buy a ship with real money,
- 37:51Speaker 2: you get to start the game again with that real
- 37:54Speaker 2: ship instead of having to buy it in game. These
- 37:57Speaker 2: ships can go anywhere from forty dollars all the way
- 38:01Speaker 2: up to five thousand dollars. Wow wow. And then you
- 38:05Speaker 2: can also buy armor, you can buy weapons, you can
- 38:08Speaker 2: buy ATVs, all terrain vehicles and things like that. So
- 38:12Speaker 2: I personally have been getting back into this game, and
- 38:16Speaker 2: I have dropped over the years. I think I've dropped
- 38:19Speaker 2: close to three hundred dollars on the game just buying
- 38:23Speaker 2: random ships and things like that that I want to play.
- 38:25Speaker 2: But the game has gotten so much better. When I
- 38:27Speaker 2: played it back in twenty eighteen, it was horrible. Then
- 38:31Speaker 2: I tried again in twenty twenty, horrible, twenty twenty two,
- 38:35Speaker 2: and a little bit better twenty twenty three, a little
- 38:38Speaker 2: bit better. Now twenty twenty five, I'm like, Wow, I
- 38:40Speaker 2: can actually play the game and complete missions without the
- 38:44Speaker 2: game crashing on me.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Nice.
- 38:46Speaker 2: So it's getting better. And it was recently said that
- 38:49Speaker 2: Chris Roberts had an interview. He says that I know
- 38:53Speaker 2: I've said this in the past over and over, and
- 38:55Speaker 2: I know you're not going to take my word for it,
- 38:57Speaker 2: but he says, I really honestly feel that we are
- 39:00Speaker 2: now at the point where we can say Star Citizen
- 39:04Speaker 2: one point zero, which is the full release, will be
- 39:07Speaker 2: released sometime in twenty twenty seven or twenty twenty eight.
- 39:10Speaker 2: That's still far away, it is, but this is a
- 39:13Speaker 2: massive game. You're talking about an entire universe, So it
- 39:20Speaker 2: is an entire universe. There's thousands of planets you can visit.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Every single planet is absolutely detailed, and there's no loading screens.
- 39:28Speaker 2: When you fly from planet to planet, you don't have
- 39:30Speaker 2: to wait for a loading screen, so its entire world is.
- 39:35Speaker 3: Fluid. I mean, it's.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Massive, all right, Star Citizen. That can people start it?
- 39:41Speaker 3: Now? What they kid.
- 39:42Speaker 2: Robertsspace Industries dot com.
- 39:45Speaker 3: Just look up Star Citizen.
- 39:46Speaker 2: All right.
- 39:47Speaker 3: You can get it and you have.
- 39:48Speaker 2: To pledge a starter pack, which is about forty dollars,
- 39:51Speaker 2: which will get you a ship and the game, and
- 39:54Speaker 2: then that ship will stay with you as long as
- 39:55Speaker 2: you play the game.
- 39:56Speaker 1: All right, I have got a trivia question for Justin
- 39:59Speaker 1: and Matt. We take a break, we come back, we'll
- 40:01Speaker 1: ask them. We'll see who gets the closest to it.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Coming up with tech talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm
- 40:07Speaker 2: Matt Jones, and I'm Justin.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Let me set us an X at tech talk Radio.
- 40:11Speaker 3: We'll be right back and now.
- 40:13Speaker 4: Back to tech talk Radio.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Well, it was hard to believe it's been thirty years,
- 40:19Speaker 1: and you know, with all the talk that we've had
- 40:20Speaker 1: regarding Windows ten going to Windows eleven, but thirty years
- 40:24Speaker 1: this week that Windows ninety five was released, and a
- 40:27Speaker 1: lot of you guys remember, you know, doing the upgrade,
- 40:30Speaker 1: there was people who didn't want to move from Windows
- 40:32Speaker 1: three point one to go to Windows ninety five. They
- 40:36Speaker 1: brought in the rolling Stones to help people at ease
- 40:39Speaker 1: with this whole start button, doing the and tying the
- 40:42Speaker 1: promotional into the song start Me Up.
- 40:45Speaker 2: It was kind of cool. But I was wondering, do
- 40:48Speaker 2: you guys remember so you could install it from disc
- 40:53Speaker 2: of CD ROM or you could install it from a
- 40:56Speaker 2: diskett how many disc gets did it take to do
- 41:01Speaker 2: Windows ninety five?
- 41:03Speaker 4: I was seven? How am I supposed to remember this.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Diskeuets.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Yeah, we're talking about the three point five inch Matt
- 41:13Speaker 2: at seven, you weren't installing Windows ninety five. He was
- 41:17Speaker 2: still sucking his thumb, crutching his his his stuffy.
- 41:22Speaker 4: And watching Power Rangers. Dang it.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Oh man, okay, so again, you're talking about the three
- 41:28Speaker 2: point five inch discuts. Yeah, yeah, I was gonna say twelve,
- 41:33Speaker 2: so you're really dark close.
- 41:35Speaker 4: I was going to say fourteen.
- 41:37Speaker 2: And the actual answer was thirteen. It was thirteen.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and then they came out with OSR two, which
- 41:45Speaker 1: was twenty six.
- 41:47Speaker 2: But so you guys haven't lived.
- 41:49Speaker 1: I mean you so, Matt, you you didn't even cut
- 41:51Speaker 1: your teeth on dos did you?
- 41:53Speaker 2: Actually?
- 41:53Speaker 4: I did. I remember grabbing my dad's laptop when he
- 41:57Speaker 4: wasn't looking, and uh in installing Oh goodness, hang on,
- 42:04Speaker 4: I gotta look this up. I was installing a patchy
- 42:09Speaker 4: all right, a patchy attack helicopter game via disketch on
- 42:13Speaker 4: my dad's laptop.
- 42:14Speaker 2: I was running Commodore sixty four and installing Jet boot
- 42:18Speaker 2: Jack Joe Commodore sixty four And uh, yeah, no, that
- 42:21Speaker 2: was what I cut my teeth on. Honestly, I was
- 42:24Speaker 2: a little bit too young. I do remember our first
- 42:27Speaker 2: computer was Windows ninety five, and then it was I
- 42:32Speaker 2: kind of really cut my teeth installing on Windows two thousand,
- 42:36Speaker 2: which Windows two thousand was designed as a server platform.
- 42:39Speaker 2: It really wasn't designed as a end user. But I
- 42:43Speaker 2: happened to find a less than legal way of getting
- 42:48Speaker 2: Windows two thousand to run. So I installed multiple copies
- 42:52Speaker 2: of Windows two thousand for my neighbors. And that's kind
- 42:56Speaker 2: of where I really cut my teeth on. But yes,
- 42:57Speaker 2: I do remember my dad upgrading us from Windows three
- 43:01Speaker 2: point one and then me on DOS and then going
- 43:06Speaker 2: up to Windows ninety five and going, oh my gosh,
- 43:09Speaker 2: this is just so much different. But yes, I do
- 43:11Speaker 2: remember playing playing with Windows three point one. You think
- 43:14Speaker 2: about some of the great games though, were doss games.
- 43:17Speaker 2: I mean they really were Doom, Wolfenstein three D. I
- 43:20Speaker 2: remember having to launch Commander Keene.
- 43:23Speaker 3: I remember that.
- 43:23Speaker 2: I remember having to launch I just mentioned it, Privateer,
- 43:26Speaker 2: having to go to DOS and and launching Privateer from DOS. Right.
- 43:32Speaker 4: Yeah, My first OS was three point one for work groups.
- 43:38Speaker 4: My first video game system was an Atari, so I
- 43:41Speaker 4: was Texas Instruments. But no, I do remember, like when
- 43:47Speaker 4: my family got a computer. It was a it was
- 43:48Speaker 4: a big deal. My my dad's buddy from the Navy
- 43:53Speaker 4: Art Padama built our first rig and brought it to
- 43:56Speaker 4: the house. And I still remember the smell of like
- 43:59Speaker 4: a computer back then, like the slightly ozone smell that
- 44:02Speaker 4: you did. When the computer would kick on. You'd just
- 44:04Speaker 4: be like, oh, this is the computer room, I can tell.
- 44:08Speaker 4: And I remember justin Iube it was so.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Funny that you said ozone. My gosh, I totally forgot
- 44:12Speaker 2: about that, but yeah, you're right.
- 44:14Speaker 4: Yeah. And then uh, Windows two thousand, which was built
- 44:17Speaker 4: on Windows and T and was that was their.
- 44:20Speaker 3: First generation of it?
- 44:22Speaker 4: Yep. And do you guys remember the disaster that was
- 44:25Speaker 4: Windows me.
- 44:26Speaker 2: E oh yeah. That was My first laptop was a
- 44:30Speaker 2: Windows Emmy laptop and it was so bad. What year
- 44:34Speaker 2: and I was two thousand, No, it was ninety eight,
- 44:40Speaker 2: ninety nine something like that.
- 44:41Speaker 3: No, it'd be two thousand. It was before. It was
- 44:43Speaker 3: right before Windows XP.
- 44:45Speaker 1: We were we were doing the Tech Show back then,
- 44:48Speaker 1: and I remember we get a lot a lot of
- 44:51Speaker 1: questions about that.
- 44:52Speaker 3: And my first laptop.
- 44:53Speaker 2: I got a Windows Emmy laptop and the first thing
- 44:55Speaker 2: I did was reformat it and put Windows two thousand
- 44:57Speaker 2: on it. Yeah, and then I remember we're obviously Windows
- 45:00Speaker 2: XP coming out. I remember I was working at AOL
- 45:03Speaker 2: in the call center and I saw a guy who
- 45:06Speaker 2: was one of the call center texts and he had
- 45:08Speaker 2: a copy of Windows XP running on his computer next
- 45:12Speaker 2: to ours, and I was like, we were all crowded
- 45:14Speaker 2: around his little cubicle, going, oh my gosh, this is
- 45:17Speaker 2: so great. But the one that I always have a
- 45:19Speaker 2: problem with is Windows Vista. Oh well, hold on Windows Vista.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Everybody hated Windows Vista. I never had a single problem
- 45:30Speaker 2: with Windows Vista.
- 45:30Speaker 3: Really never.
- 45:33Speaker 4: Windows Vista was so bad that in the first no
- 45:37Speaker 4: in the fourth Futurama movie, Into the Wild Green Yonder,
- 45:43Speaker 4: they either here we go with Math's Futurama.
- 45:46Speaker 3: He always is a Vurama reference.
- 45:48Speaker 4: I do because there there are so many. But Calculon
- 45:52Speaker 4: is sitting there going and I'd like to thank my
- 45:54Speaker 4: operating system, Windows Vista, and then he crashes. Do you
- 46:00Speaker 4: see his eyeballs blue?
- 46:03Speaker 1: So what do you think was probably out of these two?
- 46:06Speaker 1: What was the best? Windows three point one or Windows XP.
- 46:11Speaker 3: Oh, Windows xp XP.
- 46:13Speaker 1: Some people have said the Windows XP still was the
- 46:15Speaker 1: best os that they had ever put out, I don't know.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Yes, I think so here's a funny little caveat to that.
- 46:23Speaker 2: So my IT guy that I hired that works with
- 46:26Speaker 2: me right now, he has his computer that he brings in,
- 46:29Speaker 2: obviously his laptop. He boots up his laptop and I'm
- 46:33Speaker 2: standing next to his desk because we're doing our morning
- 46:35Speaker 2: meeting and we're going over.
- 46:36Speaker 3: The topics of the day.
- 46:37Speaker 2: He boots up and it presents us with a Windows
- 46:40Speaker 2: XP login screen.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Nice, and I'm like, what are you doing. I'm like,
- 46:46Speaker 3: I'm freaking.
- 46:46Speaker 2: Out, and he goes, oh, it's just the custom desktop
- 46:49Speaker 2: I put on. It's actually it's still Windows eleven. Right.
- 46:52Speaker 2: I'm like, I was freaking out because I mean, like,
- 46:54Speaker 2: as soon as you put a Windows XP computer on
- 46:57Speaker 2: the internet nowadays, within seconds, you're you're compromised, you have viruses.
- 47:02Speaker 2: I was about to launch myself at his desk and
- 47:05Speaker 2: say turn that thing off because it looked like Windows XP.
- 47:09Speaker 3: But it was just a custom destiny, you know.
- 47:11Speaker 2: I'm wondering.
- 47:12Speaker 1: So there have been a lot of Linux builds, you know,
- 47:14Speaker 1: whether it's be Win, Boon, Tou and some of the
- 47:16Speaker 1: other ones, and they always say, oh, it looks like
- 47:18Speaker 1: Windows ten, or it looks like Windows eleven. I'm thinking,
- 47:21Speaker 1: has anybody created a Linux distro that looks like Windows XP?
- 47:27Speaker 2: That's what I'm no, But I mean they Linux Mint
- 47:32Speaker 2: looks like Windows ten. I'm sure, but I'm just wondering.
- 47:36Speaker 2: Going back to Windows EX was was there anything?
- 47:38Speaker 1: Is there anything that has been built that would be oh,
- 47:41Speaker 1: that same kind of feel, the same kind of flavor
- 47:43Speaker 1: could still run the really good programs.
- 47:45Speaker 4: I mean it's called the GTK plus theme.
- 47:48Speaker 2: GTK plus all right, and it looks like googled it right,
- 47:53Speaker 2: and it looks like XP. That's hilarious.
- 47:55Speaker 4: Another one that's boon to XP. And funny thing why
- 47:59Speaker 4: it was called Winds XP. XP stood for Experimental.
- 48:04Speaker 2: Platform Really wow.
- 48:07Speaker 4: And it turned out to be their best. There there
- 48:11Speaker 4: are people who will fight you on it. Whether it's
- 48:12Speaker 4: XPER seven are the two best ones?
- 48:16Speaker 3: Yeah, but there's I still think XP was better.
- 48:18Speaker 4: There's two development teams, two operating system development teams inside
- 48:22Speaker 4: of Microsoft, and one team is responsible for like Windows XP, yeah,
- 48:28Speaker 4: Windows seven, yes, Windows a point one, Windows ten, and
- 48:32Speaker 4: then there's the other team that's responsible for this STA
- 48:36Speaker 4: Windows a ye, Windows ninety eight, Windows EMY.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Well see Windows ninety eight second Edition. Yeah, great, ninety
- 48:44Speaker 2: eight FC was was pretty good.
- 48:46Speaker 4: That's where they had to pull the other team in
- 48:49Speaker 4: to fix it, which is why I try and upgrade
- 48:52Speaker 4: every other.
- 48:54Speaker 1: So when twelve comes. So when twelve comes out, you'll
- 48:57Speaker 1: be ready. It'll be good, right.
- 48:59Speaker 4: You know, honestly I miss ten. My eleven has not
- 49:04Speaker 4: been terrible. Yeah, but yeah, when it's like, oh this
- 49:09Speaker 4: is the B team's release, nah, dog, I'm good, all right.
- 49:12Speaker 1: We got an email in from Roberta and Green Valley says, Hey, guys,
- 49:16Speaker 1: I try to listen to your show on Saturdays, and
- 49:19Speaker 1: I keep hearing a term when it comes to using
- 49:21Speaker 1: our devices.
- 49:22Speaker 2: What is doom scrolling? I know I could look it up,
- 49:26Speaker 2: but I thought I would send an email in too.
- 49:27Speaker 1: Maybe you can help others. Doom scrolling sounds scary, Roberta
- 49:31Speaker 1: and Green Valley, What the heck is doom scrolling?
- 49:34Speaker 2: Well, dooom scrolling is what you do on Facebook, Reddit, Twitter,
- 49:38Speaker 2: x whatever, when you're just constantly scrolling through random posts
- 49:45Speaker 2: with you're not looking for anything in particular. You just
- 49:49Speaker 2: find yourself scrolling through page after paid after post after
- 49:55Speaker 2: post after post, and you're just yet you just get
- 49:58Speaker 2: lost it and all of a sudden you're like, oh
- 49:59Speaker 2: my my god, five hours have passed. That's doom strolling.
- 50:03Speaker 4: What did you do for the past five hours? I
- 50:06Speaker 4: was watching Instagram reels and that's and you're just at
- 50:10Speaker 4: Instagram TikTok YouTube shorts where you're just like that was funny,
- 50:14Speaker 4: next one. That was funny, next one, And all of
- 50:16Speaker 4: a sudden you look up and you're like, why is
- 50:18Speaker 4: the sun down? Where did they go?
- 50:21Speaker 2: So that's doom strolling.
- 50:23Speaker 4: That is doom scrolling to the point where you're you're
- 50:25Speaker 4: you're quote engaged, you're watching stuff, you're like clicking on things,
- 50:30Speaker 4: but your brain has just turned off.
- 50:33Speaker 2: All right, all right, So there you go.
- 50:35Speaker 1: I hope that helps ROBERTA. So you can go back
- 50:37Speaker 1: to the doom scrolling. We're gonna take another quick break.
- 50:39Speaker 1: We come back with more of tech Talk Radio.
- 50:41Speaker 4: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Matt Jones, and I'm justin.
- 50:45Speaker 2: Let me find us on Facebook at Facebook dot com
- 50:47Speaker 2: forward slash tech Talkers.
- 50:48Speaker 3: We'll be right.
- 50:49Speaker 2: Back and now back to tech talk Radio.
- 50:52Speaker 4: So, as some are aware, last week there was an
- 50:57Speaker 4: event that I have been greatly looking forward to called
- 50:59Speaker 4: me by Google where Google announced the new Pixel ten
- 51:04Speaker 4: lineup on tech TOF. I just got the nine I
- 51:07Speaker 4: mean not that long ago, you know, and I grab
- 51:11Speaker 4: I'm like, justin, I grabbed the ninefold when it came out.
- 51:14Speaker 4: They offered me a great deal trade in my eight pro.
- 51:17Speaker 4: They gave me a boatload of money, and I decided
- 51:20Speaker 4: to try it. And initially I liked the ninefold. But
- 51:24Speaker 4: as time went on, I discovered a little aspect that
- 51:27Speaker 4: drove me nuts. Is that most UI User Interface or
- 51:31Speaker 4: UX User experience developers are not coding their apps for
- 51:36Speaker 4: that display ratio when you open the Pixel Fold. All
- 51:41Speaker 4: they did instead is just kind of zoom in and
- 51:43Speaker 4: be like ep, there you go. Some are coding for it,
- 51:46Speaker 4: and that's great, but the fact that Google's trying to
- 51:48Speaker 4: go for a phone tablet hybrid doesn't really work when
- 51:51Speaker 4: the tablet portion is kind of broken.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Now, justin, you have a.
- 51:56Speaker 3: Right, yeah, I have the ninefold. Yes.
- 51:59Speaker 4: So so in the meantime I kind of stopped using
- 52:02Speaker 4: the fold portion. I grabbed myself this new shiny little
- 52:05Speaker 4: tablet from Lenovo, which I've really enjoyed. It's the Lenovo
- 52:11Speaker 4: Legion Tab three, and I've been using that, but I've
- 52:13Speaker 4: been sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for
- 52:15Speaker 4: me by Google, and I did. I watched it. I
- 52:19Speaker 4: found Jimmy Fallon as cringey as I usually do because
- 52:22Speaker 4: he was the host for it. It was a terrible
- 52:24Speaker 4: casting decision. But I'm really excited for the new Pixel
- 52:27Speaker 4: ten lineup to the point where I pre ordered the
- 52:30Speaker 4: ten XL and it will be here on Thursday.
- 52:34Speaker 3: So now what is Thursday? What do you do with
- 52:35Speaker 3: the nine I didn't get to your door first.
- 52:38Speaker 4: Fortunately I'm working from home Thursday, so let's let's see
- 52:42Speaker 4: that race.
- 52:43Speaker 2: But are you so, what do you do with the
- 52:45Speaker 2: nine fold? That you have?
- 52:47Speaker 4: The ninefold? They offered me seven hundred and sixty dollars
- 52:51Speaker 4: or more in trade in value based on based on
- 52:55Speaker 4: their review of it when I send it in, So
- 52:58Speaker 4: like when I sent in my Pixel eight pro, when
- 53:02Speaker 4: I got the ninefold, they told me it was gonna
- 53:04Speaker 4: be worth X amount of dollars and I actually got
- 53:06Speaker 4: one hundred dollars more than that because I really take
- 53:08Speaker 4: care of my devices. The thing that it's this is
- 53:12Speaker 4: a tiny thing, all right. It's a little thing that
- 53:14Speaker 4: has annoyed me for years with Pixel or Android phones
- 53:17Speaker 4: versus Apple phones. The Apple mag Safe stuff is amazing
- 53:23Speaker 4: and I love it and we have not had it well.
- 53:27Speaker 4: Pixel with the Pixel ten series has released the Pixel
- 53:30Speaker 4: Snap line of accessories and it's mag safe pixel Snap
- 53:35Speaker 4: Is it snap?
- 53:36Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 53:36Speaker 4: That does Pixel Snap?
- 53:38Speaker 1: Yeah, And then it works like the mag Safe, right,
- 53:41Speaker 1: so it is.
- 53:42Speaker 4: Yeah, it works just like mag Safe. It's two wireless charging.
- 53:48Speaker 2: What makes mag Safe better, I don't really understand the
- 53:50Speaker 2: difference between the mag Safe then mag Safe, which hasn't
- 53:54Speaker 2: been on any of the Android devices, is just a
- 53:56Speaker 2: really strong magnet ring in the back of the phone
- 54:00Speaker 2: that a charger or something just clicks into place. A
- 54:03Speaker 2: wallet can click into place and stay there. And the
- 54:06Speaker 2: Android phones have kind of had that, some have kind
- 54:09Speaker 2: of been along those lines.
- 54:10Speaker 4: Yeah, that ring right there.
- 54:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:12Speaker 4: So like for the new charger that's coming out, it
- 54:15Speaker 4: doesn't have a shelf for the phone to like rest on,
- 54:18Speaker 4: because it'll click into the charger and that magnet holds
- 54:21Speaker 4: it into place, which goes to a lot of other
- 54:23Speaker 4: accessories that can go in there. And like I said,
- 54:25Speaker 4: it's a small dumb thing, but I want it and
- 54:29Speaker 4: I'm gonna get it. The other thing that'll be interesting
- 54:31Speaker 4: is how much Gemini is going to be baked into
- 54:34Speaker 4: these new phones. Yeah, yeah, I'm really interested to see
- 54:38Speaker 4: how much it's going to be used. And yes, to
- 54:39Speaker 4: an extent, it'll be on any pixel device that is
- 54:43Speaker 4: updated to the new OS. But I decide to really
- 54:46Speaker 4: like give this a try get off the fold. So
- 54:49Speaker 4: hopefully if it comes in on time and Justin doesn't
- 54:52Speaker 4: steal it, next week I can give a rundown on
- 54:55Speaker 4: the new ten XL and my thoughts.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Perfect, that'd be great, So we'll look forward to that
- 54:59Speaker 1: one next week. That's it for this week's tech talk Radio.
