- 0:02Happy Sunday morning, everybody, and happy Mother's Day.
- 0:08You mothers, you make the world go round.
- 0:12Thank you so much. Lots of love.
- 0:16Alright, today we're gonna talk about something that I've been
- 0:21watching. I have been seen this phenomenon
- 0:25grow. I was recently asked by Mark
- 0:34Abel. Now I know Mark Abel from Miller
- 0:36Brewing and I know Mark Abel from Anheuser Busch.
- 0:42Didn't know that Mark Abel was living in Saint Louis and
- 0:46working for our soccer team, Saint Louis City.
- 0:51And Mark said, Herman, have you been to a soccer game yet?
- 0:57And I said, no, I haven't, but I'd love to come down there.
- 1:00So this Wednesday, I guess I'm going to hand out the soccer
- 1:05ball. I've never done it before, but
- 1:07I'm excited. You know, I've thrown out the
- 1:11first pitch for the Cardinals. I've announced the starting
- 1:13lineup for the Saint Louis Rams when they were here.
- 1:16And all of it is exciting. So I've never been to a soccer
- 1:21game, but this is where this leads me to.
- 1:26I'm also watching Bless Your Heart by Amy Earnhardt and Dale
- 1:32Earnhardt Junior and both of these sports, soccer and racing,
- 1:40they have something in common. And this is the conversation
- 1:43today and I need you all to respond right here.
- 1:47They both say they're so exciting, the entertainment.
- 1:53Forget about the game of soccer, Forget about the Formula One
- 1:57race where Dale Junior and Amy went to Miami, Dale Junior and
- 2:03Amy went to Miami. And they they made a whole
- 2:07little podcast out of it. They said the entertainment, the
- 2:11vibe, it was like a big concert. Yeah, man.
- 2:15Boom boom, boom, boom, boom boom boom boom.
- 2:18You can feel the vibe. Well, of course we were in
- 2:20Miami, but man, the vibe. Boom boom, boom boom.
- 2:24All over the game, all over, everybody's rocking boom.
- 2:27Boom boom. You know, Red Bull man.
- 2:29Boom boom, boom boom. But that's that's it.
- 2:35Now, they say when you go to these soccer games that they
- 2:39have these chants and I and some of my friends know that I'm
- 2:43going to the soccer game and they go, hey, there's chance,
- 2:46man. There's, you know, chance.
- 2:47Like raw, raw, raw, raw. You know, Saint Louis city,
- 2:52you're the one without you. We Saba Dhabi.
- 2:55Look, I'm dancing Saba daba, daba daba, raw, raw.
- 3:00So the question today is this is entertainment at the venue.
- 3:08Is it becoming more important than the product on the
- 3:13racetrack? Let's be a little bit clearer.
- 3:18So we have a we have a lot of people that are purist old
- 3:23people like me, you know, the racist, the race that, you know,
- 3:27he they couldn't pass, you know, and I was disappointed in the
- 3:32race. Go to a Saint Louis City soccer.
- 3:37Now. I just watched.
- 3:39I just watched. You know, we played San Diego.
- 3:41We lost 2 to one. I'm sitting there thinking to
- 3:44myself, I love all sports and you're going to have winners and
- 3:50you're going to have losers. That's a good song.
- 3:54But that's how an ADH brain works.
- 3:56You'd be thinking about one thing and then after you get,
- 4:00you're talking about something, your mind's singing about
- 4:02something else. But I'm, I'm thinking to myself,
- 4:08the new kids on the block, There I go again.
- 4:12The new kids on the block, the new generation coming up.
- 4:17Are we worried about the game or are we going for the party and
- 4:24there's a game? Are we worried about the race?
- 4:27But are we going to the race? Because when we go to Talladega,
- 4:31we're going to party and there's going to be a race.
- 4:35Are we worried about the Indianapolis 500 or are we going
- 4:38to the Snake Pit inside the racetrack?
- 4:43That is the conversation today. So respond right here.
- 4:50I want to know, and I know you're purest.
- 4:53I know you purest. I get you, the purists are going
- 4:57to go. It's all about the the
- 4:58competition on the racetrack. But hold on now, go with me just
- 5:03for a little bit. Just listen.
- 5:06I don't mean it in a smart ass way.
- 5:07I mean just listen. You know, down here at Federated
- 5:12Auto Parts Raceway Park, you know, I know a lot of people
- 5:17when when they had Anheuser Busch products and when Schrader
- 5:22and Mahler on the track. Listen to this story about
- 5:25entertainment versus competition on the racetrack.
- 5:29So Schrader, you know, he drove the Budweiser car and Kenny
- 5:33Schrader very close with Anheuser Busch.
- 5:36Well, Schrader got a little upset with the new people that
- 5:41came into Anheuser Busch. And, you know, Schrader said,
- 5:45hey, Coors Light is giving us a much better deal.
- 5:49We're going to we're going to switch to Coors Light here at
- 5:52Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park when Schrader and Mahler
- 5:56owned the track. So the racetrack switched to all
- 6:00cores product. You know what happened?
- 6:05All the people that drink beer, they rebelled.
- 6:09They either did not come to the racetrack because it's kind of
- 6:13like fishing. We're going to go fishing.
- 6:18That means we're going to go drink beer.
- 6:20A lot of people go to these local short tracks to drink
- 6:24beer, but we going to the racetrack.
- 6:27Hey, honey, I'm going to go fishing.
- 6:29Oh hell, I know what that means. Oh yeah.
- 6:31You going fishing means you're going to go drink.
- 6:36You see what I'm saying? This phenomenon has always been
- 6:40to, but it's starting to take over now.
- 6:42So my question to you 6 minutes into the coffee with Kenny is,
- 6:47is entertainment taking over competition at your venue now?
- 6:54Our baseball Cardinals have won seven in a row.
- 6:57It's Mother's Day, you know. I'm sure, you know, the
- 7:00Cardinals are on the road, they're in Washington.
- 7:02But you know, winning solves everything.
- 7:06Duh. As Schrader would say, big red
- 7:09truck. We know that winning is a bonus,
- 7:13but have we become? Are are we in this era now?
- 7:16Where entertainment has taken over racing.
- 7:24I listen to Dale Junior and I listen to Amy.
- 7:27And Dale Junior said, you know, I met Max Verstappen.
- 7:31He didn't have a real good car that day, but he was holding off
- 7:34the, you know, the guys all over him, you know, for the win.
- 7:38And Dale Junior said, and I'm sure he had to say it, I believe
- 7:43him. But he said he still believes
- 7:46NASCAR is better entertainment. I want to talk to Dale Junior.
- 7:52I want to call him and go, hey, but they would not have done
- 7:56that podcast if they weren't affected.
- 8:01And I think Dale Junior and Amy were really affected by the
- 8:05entertainment. You know, Amy's like, man, there
- 8:08was just such a great vibe. It was so incredible.
- 8:12And that's what they're telling me.
- 8:13I'm going to feel when I go to the Saint Louis City game this
- 8:19Wednesday, they say, yeah, there's a soccer game, but boy,
- 8:22it's fun. And they tell me if I go on
- 8:25YouTube, I'll learn all the chance.
- 8:29After all, you sit there all night long and the game could be
- 8:321 to nothing, zero to 0. So I guess you drink beer and
- 8:37it's European football. So I'm excited.
- 8:41I'll report in on Thursday morning.
- 8:43But I'm going to go watch the European football Wednesday and
- 8:49I'm excited now. I got Lady Gaga in my head,
- 9:00chants. We're going to start chanting.
- 9:02So respond right here. Now you purists are going to
- 9:05say, oh, it's all about the competition on the racetrack,
- 9:09but the kids 30 years younger than you are looking for
- 9:13entertainment. Respond right here.
- 9:20Have a great Sunday and Happy Mother's Day everybody.
