- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Good next.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good morning. Welcome to
- 0:13Speaker 1: the show. I'm back just for a couple of days
- 0:15Speaker 1: before I officially go on leave for the rest of
- 0:17Speaker 1: the month. All the details very soon, but today, on
- 0:20Speaker 1: the back of Media Corp's cloud nine, we do have
- 0:22Speaker 1: Robert joining us in the studio later on. So make
- 0:24Speaker 1: sure you stand by for that. We can't wait. Singapore's
- 0:27Speaker 1: number one hit music station.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Like I was saying earlier on, I'm just back for
- 0:33Speaker 1: a couple of days before I'm officially on leave for
- 0:36Speaker 1: the rest of the month. Only the most important week
- 0:40Speaker 1: of your life. I mean, I mean, yeah, I'm, I'm excited, um,
- 0:44Speaker 1: but yeah, counting down, I think everyone, I don't know, for,
- 0:46Speaker 1: for some reason, people around me are more excited than
- 0:48Speaker 1: me for now. I'm very excited. I know. I mean,
- 0:51Speaker 1: it would be so weird but also happy in a
- 0:54Speaker 1: very happy tears sense to see you walking down the
- 0:57Speaker 1: aisle wearing a bridal gown, like for real this time.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Right, I know. So you see, here's the thing, right?
- 1:03Speaker 1: I think one of the running jokes, um, because of
- 1:06Speaker 1: the series Countdown do I do that I think some
- 1:09Speaker 1: of us have been following on YouTube, um, Media Corp
- 1:11Speaker 1: Entertainment Channel, check it out. My mom didn't have much
- 1:15Speaker 1: reaction when I came out in the wedding dress, to which,
- 1:17Speaker 1: you know, you watch all these stupid other reality shows
- 1:20Speaker 1: and all that. The mom always cries, you know, the,
- 1:22Speaker 1: the bridesmaids will cry and all that.
- 1:24Speaker 1: No such thing in person, um, and she explained that
- 1:28Speaker 1: she's seen me in every kind of dress before. I
- 1:30Speaker 1: guess because of, because of our events or the nature
- 1:33Speaker 1: of our work, right? We're we're dressed up quite a
- 1:35Speaker 1: lot sometimes. So maybe the impact is not there yet
- 1:39Speaker 1: until the actual day.
- 1:40Speaker 1: this means? What does this mean? During the church wedding,
- 1:44Speaker 1: sit me next to your mom and I'll stand by tissues.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Oh no, don't worry, I will hold the tissue box
- 1:49Speaker 1: for her. You unfortunately can't sit next to my mom.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I can't. Yes, I know the immediate family, but I'm
- 1:55Speaker 1: immediate family. What? I'm the son because we look so similar.
- 2:01Speaker 1: What were you up to over the weekend since I
- 2:04Speaker 1: didn't see you for 4 or so days? Honestly, catching
- 2:08Speaker 1: up with all that was happening here in Singapore. Bit
- 2:11Speaker 1: of an eventful weekend, to be honest with you, with
- 2:13Speaker 1: open inverted commas, you mean? OK, let's just summarize the
- 2:17Speaker 1: biggest happenings and discussions on social media. OK, sure. I'm
- 2:20Speaker 1: going to call a spade a spade. Firstly, Amos Yee
- 2:22Speaker 1: getting jumped. Secondly, Disney adventure. Hey, the compensation.
- 2:28Speaker 1: It's actually very good. I think they have to, you know,
- 2:32Speaker 1: because they, it, it was, it's something that you're looking
- 2:35Speaker 1: forward to so much, right? Can you imagine? Yeah, all
- 2:37Speaker 1: of which we will touch on at just past 7,
- 2:39Speaker 1: but for now, I want to keep things slight and
- 2:42Speaker 1: just take you to school or work because we know,
- 2:44Speaker 1: I think for some schools they're having the weighted assessments.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yes, so last week, I think I was chat, I
- 2:50Speaker 1: bumped into some like a group of students and they
- 2:53Speaker 1: were telling me that they had math, I think was
- 2:55Speaker 1: that last week. I'm not sure if it's over. Yeah,
- 2:58Speaker 1: it might be over. So I don't know what other
- 3:00Speaker 1: subjects are going to be touched on this week and
- 3:01Speaker 1: for secondary school might be different. Can I ask which
- 3:06Speaker 1: exam stressed you the most?
- 3:08Speaker 1: Mandarin and math, but at some point, the math thing
- 3:12Speaker 1: became OK, um.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Mandarin, I continue to be stressed about during O levels,
- 3:19Speaker 1: and you know, you get the chance to take it twice, right?
- 3:21Speaker 1: So I took it the first time I passed, I just,
- 3:23Speaker 1: I just moved on because I think for some people when,
- 3:25Speaker 1: when they decide, OK, Mandarin is also one of the
- 3:28Speaker 1: subjects I want to use, they will retake it again
- 3:30Speaker 1: to see if they can get a get a score,
- 3:32Speaker 1: better score. I'm the complete opposite. I knew I was
- 3:35Speaker 1: gonna fail, I wasn't it.
- 3:37Speaker 1: But it's papers like math for example, right, where it's
- 3:42Speaker 1: a case of actually I can pass you know bare minimum,
- 3:46Speaker 1: so I got to make sure I do it well.
- 3:47Speaker 1: That kind of stressed me out and then the subjects
- 3:49Speaker 1: I knew I was good at English and accounting, it's yes,
- 3:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna pass, but by how much, you know what
- 3:54Speaker 1: I mean and I guess with with subjects like literature, right,
- 3:58Speaker 1: which I took purely in secondary school, OK.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Sometimes you don't know which way it will swing because
- 4:04Speaker 1: especially for the open essay, right? That one is so subjective.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Like you don't, you don't know for sure. It's not
- 4:10Speaker 1: like math where you write an answer to a question.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Your answer is subjective. I don't know whether they're doing
- 4:16Speaker 1: it the same when it comes to.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Structured essays. Study the whole book. Don't go in chapter spot, please.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I can't remember if I spotted. I tried. I failed everything.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Your teacher didn't guide you along with that. We, we
- 4:29Speaker 1: tried chapter spotting. Yes, I studied Russia and China. Sorry, no,
- 4:33Speaker 1: I studied Russia and the Germany war and all that
- 4:36Speaker 1: came out China.
- 4:38Speaker 1: So I'm guessing you just sat there and took a
- 4:40Speaker 1: nap lah.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Mentally, mentally you took a nap. Close enough. Yes. Thank
- 4:45Speaker 1: you so much for joining us here today. OK, well, um,
- 4:48Speaker 1: with so many things going on over the weekend, one
- 4:50Speaker 1: of which is actually Media Corp's Cloud nine. Later on
- 4:53Speaker 1: after 9, we're gonna have Robert join us in the studio. Yeah,
- 4:56Speaker 1: so if you were there for cloud nine, firstly, we
- 4:59Speaker 1: say thank you. Hopefully you had a great weekend filled
- 5:02Speaker 1: with new music or familiar music from the likes of Max, Robert, Ozzy, 50/50. Yes, yeah,
- 5:10Speaker 1: and uh I believe.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Also, it was, I forgot who it was. Somebody sent
- 5:16Speaker 1: me a DM. They thought that we were going to
- 5:18Speaker 1: be there for cloud nine. So, how come you and
- 5:20Speaker 1: Joakim are not at cloud nine? Because I think they
- 5:23Speaker 1: expected the whole station. Um, Joakim and I were there
- 5:25Speaker 1: last year helming cloud nine, and it was so much
- 5:27Speaker 1: fun that they brought it back for the second time.
- 5:29Speaker 1: So hopefully we had just enough fun. We'll see if
- 5:32Speaker 1: it comes back next year, and I'm pretty sure if
- 5:34Speaker 1: it does, Son and I will be there. Yeah, we'll
- 5:37Speaker 1: be there for sure. But in the meantime, on the weekend,
- 5:38Speaker 1: it was my church wedding rehearsal.
- 5:41Speaker 1: How was it? It was longer than expected actually. So, um,
- 5:46Speaker 1: I think we're good to go, but I, yeah, it
- 5:48Speaker 1: was funny. By the way, for today and tomorrow here
- 5:50Speaker 1: on the circuit, we might be extra hot with wedding
- 5:53Speaker 1: content because it's this week. I know, I know it's
- 5:55Speaker 1: happening very soon. To be honest, I'm very sorry for
- 5:58Speaker 1: all the wedding content because I myself cringe at wedding.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Don't don't say sorry again as an outsider and somebody, OK,
- 6:05Speaker 1: speaking as somebody who is not your friend for a while, OK,
- 6:07Speaker 1: for the next.
- 6:08Speaker 1: 2 minutes. It's easy to digest and you deliver, you
- 6:12Speaker 1: and Jeremy have a very nice dynamic and you deliver
- 6:15Speaker 1: it well. You know, you speak well, you actually lead
- 6:18Speaker 1: us through these situations properly and the way it's edited,
- 6:22Speaker 1: it's not cringe. Oh, thank you. It's not those TikTok
- 6:25Speaker 1: cringe videos. So thank you for that. Yeah, no, no, no,
- 6:29Speaker 1: I mean it was it's been a really fun interesting
- 6:31Speaker 1: experience and um to the crew, they've been working pretty
- 6:34Speaker 1: hard as well.
- 6:35Speaker 1: To our friends over at 8 days, the TikTok videos caption,
- 6:38Speaker 1: Can you please change? What do you mean local DJ?
- 6:41Speaker 1: It's our same company. She has a name. No, but
- 6:43Speaker 1: they keep doing that with all the artists. I don't
- 6:46Speaker 1: know why. Local DJ, DJ. But I actually want to
- 6:50Speaker 1: give a shout out to Senior Minister of State, uh, Mr.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Zaki Mohammad. Why are you? No, because I was hosting
- 6:58Speaker 1: an event on Friday night. OK, I know I didn't
- 7:01Speaker 1: see you for a couple of days.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Um, and, and he was one of the guests of honors, right, um,
- 7:07Speaker 1: guests of honor over there, and towards the end when
- 7:10Speaker 1: everyone was just socializing and everything, he came up to
- 7:12Speaker 1: me and said, hey, we shook hands, no, chatted, we've
- 7:15Speaker 1: seen him quite often, right? bro.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Hey, and then he goes, he goes, What, your wedding
- 7:23Speaker 1: national event, ah? He's like, I keep seeing people reshare
- 7:26Speaker 1: on my feed. And I burst out, I'm so sorry.
- 7:29Speaker 1: He said, No, it's quite entertaining. It's OK. I don't
- 7:31Speaker 1: mind watching it. It's quite funny. So I was like, OK, OK, cool. Yeah,
- 7:34Speaker 1: by the way, senior minister of Zaki, he's very active
- 7:37Speaker 1: on social media, so he knows he's very up to date.
- 7:40Speaker 1: And what's his secret to you? This guy looks like
- 7:43Speaker 1: in his 30s, man, but he's not.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Where's the fountain of youth? He looks really good. He
- 7:50Speaker 1: looks good.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Oh, hi, it's Evan. Hi, Evan, good morning. You sound
- 7:55Speaker 1: like you just woke up. Are you on your way
- 7:57Speaker 1: to school now? Um, yeah, I'm technically on my phone
- 8:00Speaker 1: right now at home because I listen to like this radio,
- 8:03Speaker 1: like on my phone I download it. You don't need
- 8:05Speaker 1: to be in school today? Oh, I do, I do.
- 8:07Speaker 1: 7:30 starts at 7:30. 7:30 which school is this, Evan? Uh,
- 8:12Speaker 1: Jingshan Primary School. Jingshan, which area in Singapore would that
- 8:15Speaker 1: be in? Ang Mo Kio. All right, lah. OK, what,
- 8:18Speaker 1: what else?
- 8:19Speaker 1: What is good about your school that you would love
- 8:20Speaker 1: to flex about on air? The teachers and like the
- 8:24Speaker 1: environment around there. Yeah, like they're really nice and like
- 8:27Speaker 1: very encouraging and yeah. And I was gonna say this
- 8:29Speaker 1: is very near Cheng San Hawker Center. Oh, I have
- 8:31Speaker 1: no idea where that is. That's very good. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:36Speaker 1: What song can we get you this morning and who
- 8:37Speaker 1: is it going out to? Can I have anything or something? Yeah,
- 8:41Speaker 1: you got it. That's coming up right now. Enjoy your day, OK?
- 8:44Speaker 1: Take care. Bye-bye. Bye bye.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Um, and, taking us to Yishun again this time, not
- 8:49Speaker 1: for any, any bad incident or anything, OK? I know
- 8:53Speaker 1: that's always the stereotype that we have. Um, Yishun 10
- 8:57Speaker 1: has been something that I think our friends who live
- 8:59Speaker 1: around Yishun would recognize as quite an iconic building.
- 9:03Speaker 1: It's a place where I'll always remember because I watched
- 9:06Speaker 1: my first two movies there. No, seriously, Batman Returns with
- 9:10Speaker 1: my dad and Sister Act with my mom. Wait, so
- 9:14Speaker 1: you lived in Yishun for a while, right? You mentioned
- 9:16Speaker 1: when was this again? Like when you were when you
- 9:19Speaker 1: were a kid? OK, so 1988, my year of birth
- 9:23Speaker 1: till I was 5 or 6, 1994.
- 9:28Speaker 1: 93, I moved out of Yishun. So, so you experienced,
- 9:31Speaker 1: I think, the very new developments when Yishun 10 opened
- 9:36Speaker 1: back then, it was 1992. Yeah. So I, I just
- 9:40Speaker 1: did a quick, quick search. 1992, they opened. They had
- 9:43Speaker 1: mixed reviews. Why? Because of the, well, people called the
- 9:47Speaker 1: design too flamboyant, too loud. There was a lot of
- 9:50Speaker 1: neon lights, neon signs, you know, so I think.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Maybe it was a little bit not within people's comfort
- 9:55Speaker 1: zone at that time, but when I looked at the
- 9:57Speaker 1: pictures from inside Yishun 10, right, so retro and cool, honestly,
- 10:02Speaker 1: do you know what I thought of immediately when I
- 10:04Speaker 1: saw some of the photos? Stranger Things. Yes, thank you.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I knew you were gonna get it.
- 10:09Speaker 1: When I saw it I was like this looks like
- 10:10Speaker 1: the set of Stranger Things because this is what a
- 10:12Speaker 1: cineplex looked like back then in the late 80s and
- 10:15Speaker 1: early 90s and I think maybe that concept was still
- 10:18Speaker 1: very fresh to us here in Singapore and it was
- 10:20Speaker 1: inspired by science fiction back then. You know, I think
- 10:24Speaker 1: um the designer himself actually said this was meant to
- 10:27Speaker 1: be looking quite like futuristic. Yeah, I mean, in the
- 10:30Speaker 1: age of Terminator, Star Wars, Back to the Future, Back
- 10:33Speaker 1: to the Future? Yeah, exactly.
- 10:35Speaker 1: So, um, I think visitors either loved it or hated it.
- 10:38Speaker 1: They were, you know, impressed, most of them, I guess,
- 10:41Speaker 1: were impressed, um, but for what it's worth, as the
- 10:44Speaker 1: years went by, uh, they had to mute down the
- 10:47Speaker 1: design because I think, I don't know, maybe modern design
- 10:50Speaker 1: and architecture, it looked like it stood out too much.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Either that or the residents who live across the street
- 10:58Speaker 1: were complaining about the neon lights being too bright, maybe.
- 11:00Speaker 1: So I think, you know, sometime in the 2010s or so,
- 11:03Speaker 1: it got redeveloped, but Yishun 10 now is going to
- 11:07Speaker 1: be completely redeveloped into residential and commercial buildings.
- 11:12Speaker 1: And it will be business as usual for now, but
- 11:14Speaker 1: it's time to say your goodbyes. I know, I'm sure,
- 11:18Speaker 1: I'm sure. But the, the feeling I feel now, it's
- 11:22Speaker 1: akin to our parents' generation, for example, when they were
- 11:25Speaker 1: made to move elsewhere or when they're redeveloping a new
- 11:28Speaker 1: kampong Katong Shopping Center that very retro. I mean, they
- 11:38Speaker 1: wanted to redevelop that also, right? I don't know what's
- 11:40Speaker 1: going on.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Right now, but they did say they're going to make
- 11:43Speaker 1: some changes, so I don't know whether that's still a thing.
- 11:45Speaker 1: There are a lot of schools. Now for Yishun 10,
- 11:50Speaker 1: how it could be a commercial slash residential building, wow,
- 11:54Speaker 1: whoever gets that condo, it's gonna make bank. You live
- 11:57Speaker 1: across the MRT. You live right next to North Point City. Yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 1: there's gonna be, so I believe the same developers or
- 12:05Speaker 1: developers from Point City, they are also gonna be playing
- 12:08Speaker 1: a part with this residents.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Central and commercial building. And then our friends over at,
- 12:12Speaker 1: if I'm not wrong, Fraser's Development, they were the ones
- 12:14Speaker 1: that got the um the bid. So they are very
- 12:17Speaker 1: famous for doing residential buildings. See lah, make fun of
- 12:21Speaker 1: Yishun some more. Now they give you one desirable property.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Everyone moves to Yishun. You never know. Yeah. So this
- 12:29Speaker 1: hour and every single day this week, we have a
- 12:31Speaker 1: lovely treat. Thanks to our friends over at SingTel. And
- 12:34Speaker 1: as you know, Joakim and I, we are proud Singtel users. We, we.
- 12:38Speaker 1: We already know what's up with our friends over at SingTel.
- 12:41Speaker 1: The moment we saw this, we were like, you know what,
- 12:44Speaker 1: I think you want to win it for sure. So
- 12:46Speaker 1: starting tomorrow till 17th of May, you can sign up
- 12:49Speaker 1: or port into the right Singtel 5G+ plan and you
- 12:52Speaker 1: can add a limited edition grab bag for just $59
- 12:57Speaker 1: but you get up to 4 times the value back. Oh,
- 13:00Speaker 1: it's gonna be so cool. Look, I mean, we took
- 13:03Speaker 1: a little peek because we've got a couple of grab
- 13:05Speaker 1: bags here in the studio.
- 13:07Speaker 1: We took a little peek and trust us when we
- 13:09Speaker 1: say this, even though we're not allowed to say what
- 13:11Speaker 1: exactly is in it for now because it is your
- 13:13Speaker 1: task to kind of guess in just a while, um,
- 13:16Speaker 1: it's worth it. It's worth it. So in just a
- 13:18Speaker 1: while when phone lines open over at 669-119-87, we're gonna
- 13:22Speaker 1: give you three hints about the total value of this
- 13:27Speaker 1: surprise grab bag. We'll give you two options. If you
- 13:30Speaker 1: pick the correct one, you win all the items inside.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Love that. Grab the bag, watch the value.
- 13:35Speaker 1: And feel the difference with SingTel. This is about to
- 13:38Speaker 1: be grabbed back magic. You think about it, right? Your
- 13:41Speaker 1: telco is always by your side, regardless of whether you're
- 13:44Speaker 1: with people or not. Your telco has to relay your
- 13:47Speaker 1: messages to other people, responsible for your phone calls and
- 13:50Speaker 1: all that and communication with people and even connecting you
- 13:53Speaker 1: with the online world. Exactly. So we want to give
- 13:55Speaker 1: a big shout out to our friends over at Singtel
- 13:57Speaker 1: for coming on board this entire week. Tomorrow we will
- 14:00Speaker 1: be live with them actually in the afternoon. More details
- 14:03Speaker 1: on that later.
- 14:04Speaker 1: 6 over at 313 at Somerset. But for now, how
- 14:07Speaker 1: about grab the bag, watch the value, feel the difference
- 14:10Speaker 1: with SingTel. This is Grab bag magic. And we are
- 14:14Speaker 1: powered by Singtel 5G plus phone plans where the right
- 14:17Speaker 1: phone plan could make all the difference. So do expect
- 14:20Speaker 1: these limited edition Grab bags drop in with the right
- 14:23Speaker 1: phone plans. So how this game works is very simple.
- 14:26Speaker 1: You call us at 669-11987. We'll give you three clues
- 14:31Speaker 1: about the total value.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Yes. And in these bags, which we're gonna surprise ourselves
- 14:37Speaker 1: with as well by opening one of them in just
- 14:39Speaker 1: a bit to describe it to you, um, these products
- 14:42Speaker 1: could be related to lifestyle, fitness, accessories, tech gadgets, so
- 14:46Speaker 1: many things that could be in this grab bag. We'll
- 14:48Speaker 1: narrow down the final value to two options. Give us
- 14:52Speaker 1: your best guess and hopefully you win. Yeah, exactly. As
- 14:55Speaker 1: easy as that, right?
- 14:57Speaker 1: Just listen very closely. We're going to give you clues
- 14:59Speaker 1: that will make it a no-brainer. We promise you that.
- 15:02Speaker 1: For the last 7 years or so, OK, here we go.
- 15:06Speaker 1: What grandfather's story is this? Actually not 7, for all
- 15:09Speaker 1: of 9 years for our short circuit journey, OK, I've
- 15:14Speaker 1: been trying to convince Sonia, what to go is it
- 15:17Speaker 1: to join me for a run. I did.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Once the stand chart thing in 2021. Yeah, we ran
- 15:24Speaker 1: 5 km. Yeah, well done and and they they did
- 15:27Speaker 1: a live broadcast on Channel 5. I had so much
- 15:31Speaker 1: fun holding on to the camera and, and I think
- 15:33Speaker 1: along the way as well, the, the camera crew that
- 15:36Speaker 1: were from Channel 5 and CNA or whatever, they were
- 15:40Speaker 1: following us and because I was running quite slowly, it
- 15:42Speaker 1: was no problem for him to walk backwards.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Yeah, very funny, is it? Very funny. Very funny. When
- 15:48Speaker 1: we come back, Sonia, I found the perfect run for
- 15:51Speaker 1: us that you cannot say no to. What? OK, there was,
- 15:56Speaker 1: there was one that I saw, um, but not here
- 15:58Speaker 1: in Singapore. I think in France or something where they
- 16:01Speaker 1: run and stop at different vineyards.
- 16:05Speaker 1: And you can stop there for for a while and
- 16:10Speaker 1: if for example, if there are 10 vineyards, Sonia, you
- 16:12Speaker 1: won't be running after 2. That's true I know you
- 16:15Speaker 1: but it's happening here in Singapore. Mark this date down
- 16:18Speaker 1: July 5th. I'm not free. I'm blocking you. I'm not free.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I checked already. I'm not free.
- 16:24Speaker 1: I'm with you. Still such a fun song after this time.
- 16:27Speaker 1: It is, it is, but what's gonna be more fun?
- 16:30Speaker 1: July 5th.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Please mark this day. I already said I checked and
- 16:34Speaker 1: I'm not free. Are you sure? Yeah, I show you.
- 16:42Speaker 1: OK, tell me, tell me what it is first. We
- 16:46Speaker 1: out of this, tell me. OK, for the first time
- 16:50Speaker 1: in Singapore it's happening. It's the Disney run Singapore.
- 16:55Speaker 1: 2026 presented by Uniqlo. Oh, so it's, it's two brands
- 17:00Speaker 1: that we work with. Exactly. Hold on, hold on. What's
- 17:03Speaker 1: the catch here? Like what is the distance? OK, so
- 17:06Speaker 1: I don't think they've released officially the distances yet. OK,
- 17:09Speaker 1: I think today will be when we find out, but rumored,
- 17:12Speaker 1: rumored again, yeah, to be 13 km run, OK, and
- 17:17Speaker 1: 110 km run. Ah, OK, so 3 lah. No.
- 17:22Speaker 1: We'll do a 10, but I will jog alongside you.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I volunteer to be your cameraman. Please, I can use
- 17:30Speaker 1: my AI glasses and phone. My pace of jogging, right,
- 17:34Speaker 1: is your pace of strolling. No, no, I've seen you jog.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Come on. Yeah, you were walking.
- 17:42Speaker 1: OK, and because I'm much smaller than you, like every
- 17:45Speaker 1: 10 steps, every 10 steps I take to jog is
- 17:48Speaker 1: your like two steps. Never mind, I have 10 km,
- 17:50Speaker 1: 10 km of angles and multiple shots I can do
- 17:54Speaker 1: for you.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Honestly, Joakim could literally set up like 3 camera angles
- 17:58Speaker 1: and I would still not be at the finish line.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Can you imagine doing a 10 km run and you
- 18:02Speaker 1: run past goofy? I mean, that's quite cute. That's quite cute.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Darth Vader cheering for you as well. That's, you know,
- 18:09Speaker 1: I might feel a bit more motivated if I see
- 18:11Speaker 1: like the.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Friends from Disney. So it's honor. I no, no, I
- 18:16Speaker 1: can't commit on air. I can't commit. Hey, I'm already
- 18:18Speaker 1: committing to a life with someone. Can you give me
- 18:20Speaker 1: less commitments this year? To our friends over at Uniqlo
- 18:23Speaker 1: and Disney, you know who to find out is your
- 18:27Speaker 1: poster boy and girl for the Disney run Singapore 2026
- 18:29Speaker 1: presented by Uniqlo.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I mean, look, if I can still wear a cute
- 18:34Speaker 1: outfit and run, maybe I'll consider. I wouldn't mind jersey
- 18:38Speaker 1: or a dry fit to wear and they do have
- 18:40Speaker 1: some nice stuff, yeah. OK, let me, let me think
- 18:42Speaker 1: about it. So again, I think early bird registrations starts today. Oh, already, uh,
- 18:48Speaker 1: they have not released the website yet, but according to
- 18:51Speaker 1: Uniqlose page and even Disney Studios SG, if I'm not wrong,
- 18:54Speaker 1: they said, yeah, 11th of May is early bird registrations.
- 18:57Speaker 1: So all the best. I'm pretty sure.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Um, loads of people will sign up the comments section.
- 19:02Speaker 1: They were filled with Singaporean online personalities and everyday people,
- 19:07Speaker 1: so they need to make this work. I believe Disney
- 19:09Speaker 1: Run Singapore and the BYD Singapore International Marathon, these two things,
- 19:14Speaker 1: highlights of the year, given how it's being staged in
- 19:17Speaker 1: Singapore for the first time, it needs to work. So
- 19:19Speaker 1: that means the Disney one was staged in other countries before,
- 19:23Speaker 1: apparently people are saying that oh they had one over
- 19:25Speaker 1: in a few months ago or something like that, yeah.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Hm, OK, still got time to think about it. Come on,
- 19:31Speaker 1: I'll consider. It's a 10 km run. Think about it.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I'm doing the 3. I already told you.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Mhm
- 19:38Speaker 1: OK, if it's 10, I do 3, you do 7,
- 19:40Speaker 1: can or cannot, cannot, it doesn't work that way. What
- 19:43Speaker 1: do you think this is sports.
- 19:47Speaker 1: And um we already know throughout the weekends, the word
- 19:50Speaker 1: compensation was thrown around quite a bit. And unfortunately, it
- 19:55Speaker 1: happened to a particular cruise that we absolutely love. OK,
- 19:59Speaker 1: so it's been 2 months since we've been on board
- 20:02Speaker 1: the Disney adventure. Would you say 2 months, it might
- 20:06Speaker 1: still be a bit of teething issues here and there? Possibly, possibly.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I think also because.
- 20:11Speaker 1: It is um the first time we're having the Disney
- 20:13Speaker 1: adventure in Asia, right? So, I mean, I don't know
- 20:16Speaker 1: what goes on behind it. I know a lot of
- 20:18Speaker 1: what goes on behind, you know, creating an entire cruise
- 20:22Speaker 1: line and keep it, keeping it functioning and they've got
- 20:25Speaker 1: so many different elements on the cruise. So, um, let's
- 20:29Speaker 1: break it down to you what happened recently. So what
- 20:31Speaker 1: happened was I think there was a sailing on May 7th? Yeah,
- 20:35Speaker 1: May 7th.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Well, unfortunately, the ship was docked overnight because of a
- 20:40Speaker 1: mechanical failure. On May 8th, they announced, OK, we could
- 20:43Speaker 1: disembark the entire cruise because the cruise is canceled for
- 20:48Speaker 1: the mechanical issue they couldn't fix overnight. But here's the compensation.
- 20:54Speaker 1: You ready? They get full refunds.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Full refunds of prepaid and unused incidentals as well. Complimentary
- 21:02Speaker 1: shuttle to nearby hotels and just looking at the Marina
- 21:06Speaker 1: Bay area. Where's the nearest hotel? Marina Bay a lot
- 21:09Speaker 1: of nice hotels there. Uh, you get US 500 per
- 21:13Speaker 1: stateroom for incidentals and 50% future cruise credit.
- 21:19Speaker 1: So the next Disney adventure you book, if you use
- 21:21Speaker 1: that code to show that, hey, I was on board
- 21:23Speaker 1: the cruise that was canceled, you get 50% off. So, yeah,
- 21:27Speaker 1: that's a very good deal for for a Singaporean. That,
- 21:31Speaker 1: that's a very good one because home is where you are.
- 21:34Speaker 1: But for those who flew.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Oh. Wait, are the hotels compensated? Yeah, for sure, compensated. OK.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I think it must be OK. For those who flew
- 21:41Speaker 1: in from, you know, Japan, around the region, Hong Kong, America.
- 21:46Speaker 1: It's OK. Take it as a time to explore Singapore
- 21:48Speaker 1: a little bit, maybe like 1 or 2 days, they
- 21:51Speaker 1: are more excited.
- 21:53Speaker 1: For the Disney adventure to the point where I think
- 21:55Speaker 1: some of our local news outlets, right, actually interview people
- 21:58Speaker 1: and then one person said, Oh, now when I hear
- 22:00Speaker 1: the Disney bell I get traumatized. PTSD OK lah. I mean,
- 22:05Speaker 1: to this person perspective changed a bit lah. I mean
- 22:08Speaker 1: it's the one that goes like.
- 22:10Speaker 1: That's the horniest. I mean, kick kick, am I, am
- 22:15Speaker 1: I wrong for thinking, OK, there are worse things happening
- 22:18Speaker 1: around the world. The cancellation of this Disney adventure because
- 22:21Speaker 1: of mechanical failure. Take it as if Disney adventure was
- 22:24Speaker 1: alert enough to spot that error. I'd rather have that
- 22:28Speaker 1: than be stuck in the middle of nowhere. Exactly, it's true.
- 22:31Speaker 1: OK, but to be fair, um, I'm sure that the
- 22:36Speaker 1: questions that were asked to these, to these passengers were
- 22:39Speaker 1: specific to how they're feeling, lah. So it could be,
- 22:43Speaker 1: it could be, it could be, and, and on top
- 22:44Speaker 1: of that, they must have spent a lot of effort
- 22:47Speaker 1: to schedule, you know, the entire holiday. I mean, if
- 22:50Speaker 1: you go for a holiday, let's say you, you go,
- 22:52Speaker 1: you fly to, I don't know, the US or UK
- 22:54Speaker 1: somewhere pretty far away or um.
- 22:56Speaker 1: You know, Iceland or something, yeah, yeah, and then they
- 22:58Speaker 1: tell you the Northern Light expedition is canceled. Wow, they
- 23:01Speaker 1: are very sad. Exactly. You know what I mean, you
- 23:04Speaker 1: will also feel upset in that moment. I mean, you'll
- 23:06Speaker 1: be sad. I'll check my insurance whether can I claim,
- 23:10Speaker 1: but I won't be that traumatized or what because Northern
- 23:12Speaker 1: Lights and things like this, it doesn't guarantee that doesn't guarantee,
- 23:16Speaker 1: but you will still feel disappointment. So on that note
- 23:19Speaker 1: of compensation, miss.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Sonia Chew, what's the best or the worst kind of
- 23:24Speaker 1: compensation you've ever received? Uh, you know me, I'm terrible
- 23:27Speaker 1: at asking for compensation, and I will be like, I
- 23:34Speaker 1: insist I need this compensation, and they'd be like, No,
- 23:37Speaker 1: you cannot. Then I'd be like, OK, bye. I'll just
- 23:41Speaker 1: fade out times like these, your mom, yeah, exactly.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Uh, my mom is pretty good at it also. I
- 23:47Speaker 1: don't know whether it's just a talent that moms have,
- 23:51Speaker 1: but um, I do remember this one. Do you want
- 23:52Speaker 1: me to share it now or later? Come, come, come. OK.
- 23:54Speaker 1: So this was actually a, uh, a buffet that we
- 23:57Speaker 1: were at, OK, here in Singapore. I'm not gonna say
- 23:59Speaker 1: which one, but we were at, we were at a buffet,
- 24:02Speaker 1: and this was years ago. So back then we still
- 24:05Speaker 1: had a few like music festivals going on at the
- 24:07Speaker 1: time in Singapore, OK. At least like 2 or 3
- 24:10Speaker 1: different music festivals in a year.
- 24:12Speaker 1: So, this particular one always coincided with our birthday period
- 24:16Speaker 1: in December. So we decided, you know what, we're gonna
- 24:18Speaker 1: do like a group dinner like at this uh buffet
- 24:22Speaker 1: restaurant and it's a really reputable place. Like it's established,
- 24:25Speaker 1: it's part of a big, OK, I'm not gonna say
- 24:29Speaker 1: that the more I say, the more you might guess it.
- 24:31Speaker 1: So we went, really nice food, you know, awesome. We
- 24:33Speaker 1: had a great time, right? I went for the music
- 24:36Speaker 1: festival the next day, right? Uh, sorry, that very night.
- 24:40Speaker 1: And the next morning I felt quite sick. Like I was,
- 24:42Speaker 1: you know, going to the bathroom. I was puking, and
- 24:44Speaker 1: I thought like, oh man, is it because I drank
- 24:46Speaker 1: too much? But I don't think it was. Like it was,
- 24:49Speaker 1: it didn't feel right. Turns out I had very bad
- 24:52Speaker 1: food poisoning from the buffet previous night. I texted my family.
- 24:56Speaker 1: I said, did anyone else experience this? I think my
- 24:59Speaker 1: dad had a mild version of it, but it must
- 25:01Speaker 1: have been from the oysters that we ate, OK? And
- 25:04Speaker 1: I just, you just have to get out one bad oyster,
- 25:06Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Like, so maybe just my luck,
- 25:08Speaker 1: I got it.
- 25:09Speaker 1: And that resulted in the worst food poisoning I got
- 25:11Speaker 1: in my life. One week, I don't know if you
- 25:13Speaker 1: remember this, I'm not sure if, I think we were
- 25:15Speaker 1: not co-hosts just yet. We might have gotten split up
- 25:18Speaker 1: in the middle. So then I, um, had to be
- 25:20Speaker 1: off from work for a week. That was how bad
- 25:22Speaker 1: it was. Almost got hospitalized. My mom wrote a very
- 25:25Speaker 1: angry email to the restaurant and said, how can this be?
- 25:30Speaker 1: You guys are like 5-star, you're reputable.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Do you know what compensation they offered? The next meal
- 25:35Speaker 1: is free. Exactly. You're kidding. No, I'm not. They said,
- 25:38Speaker 1: Here's 4 parcels for you and your family to come back.
- 25:41Speaker 1: She didn't even reply. She was like, I'm not.
- 25:43Speaker 1: She's like, we're not coming back. What are you talking about?
- 25:45Speaker 1: My goodness. OK, well, phone lines are open 669-11-987 or
- 25:51Speaker 1: you can WhatsApp us at 90050987. What's the best or
- 25:56Speaker 1: worst compensation you've ever received for anything? Or if you're
- 25:59Speaker 1: bad at asking for compensation like me, please call us
- 26:02Speaker 1: too so I don't feel so alone. As Sonia answers
- 26:05Speaker 1: the call of nature, don't tell her I told you,
- 26:07Speaker 1: but OK, on today's topic, we're talking about
- 26:10Speaker 1: About the best or the worst kind of compensations you've received,
- 26:13Speaker 1: inspired by the cancellation of a Disney adventure cruise sailing.
- 26:18Speaker 1: I think it happened May 7th. The compensation though, I mean,
- 26:22Speaker 1: if you're Singaporean, again, I'm of the opinion, yeah, it's
- 26:24Speaker 1: a very good compensation, but of course, if you've flown
- 26:27Speaker 1: in from overseas, yeah, it might not be enough to
- 26:30Speaker 1: rekindle that Disney magic in you because you paid so
- 26:33Speaker 1: much money to be here in Singapore, but hopefully the
- 26:36Speaker 1: next cruise book.
- 26:36Speaker 1: That you make, it's 50% off, by the way. There'll
- 26:39Speaker 1: be no other issues with that. But I wanna say
- 26:42Speaker 1: good morning to Prisha. Hey, 987. The worst compensation I
- 26:46Speaker 1: got was when I was eating ice cream and I
- 26:48Speaker 1: found a piece of broken glass in it. The restaurant
- 26:51Speaker 1: told us the best they can do is waive the
- 26:53Speaker 1: charges of the ice cream in front of me. Oh no.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Another one coming in, I think your name on WhatsApp
- 27:01Speaker 1: reads is Sid. Hello, Sid.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Hi, Joakim and Sonia. When I was 16, I worked
- 27:07Speaker 1: with a fast food company, cannot mention name. I was
- 27:10Speaker 1: tasked with a vegetable shredder machine. An accident happened and
- 27:14Speaker 1: I had one finger almost severed and another slightly injured.
- 27:17Speaker 1: As it was company policy for the machine only to
- 27:20Speaker 1: be operated by 18-year-olds and above, I wasn't covered by
- 27:23Speaker 1: the company's insurance, so the company covered my medical and
- 27:26Speaker 1: gave me a $76 compensation. Is it worth the blood, pain,
- 27:30Speaker 1: and sweat? Oh no.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Yikes. Uh, I'm so sorry, Sid, and I really hope
- 27:37Speaker 1: this fast food company has stopped doing that. Keep the
- 27:39Speaker 1: calls and texts coming in over at 669-119-87 or 90050987.
- 27:46Speaker 1: What's the best or the worst kind of compensation you've
- 27:50Speaker 1: ever received? Let us know. But when it comes to
- 27:52Speaker 1: being compensated for something, especially when, you know, you feel
- 27:56Speaker 1: like you've been wronged or the service wasn't good.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Um, you definitely feel like you need the compensation, right? Yes,
- 28:02Speaker 1: I really am collecting a lot of compensation stories here
- 28:05Speaker 1: on 987. OK, let's start with Yvonne. Yvonne says, Hey,
- 28:10Speaker 1: Sonia and Joakim, I wasn't given my selected flight seat,
- 28:13Speaker 1: which I paid $70 for via Trip.com. What do you mean?
- 28:18Speaker 1: I wrote an email in.
- 28:20Speaker 1: I got $350 worth of Trip.com points without any questions, ask,
- 28:25Speaker 1: or delay. OK, that's, that's a good result, right? Yvonne?
- 28:28Speaker 1: What do your emails say? Can you please teach us? I, I,
- 28:31Speaker 1: I think there should be a course, honestly. Yeah, OK.
- 28:34Speaker 1: One coming in from an anonymous texter. Hey, Sonia and Joakim,
- 28:38Speaker 1: I dined at a long time ago.
- 28:41Speaker 1: At a long-standing Japanese western fusion restaurant here, my kid
- 28:45Speaker 1: was served omu rice with a broken toothpick in it.
- 28:49Speaker 1: He was 3, and it would have been really bad
- 28:52Speaker 1: if he digested the sharp piece. The server slash manager
- 28:55Speaker 1: didn't apologize. They didn't offer replacement of the meal. It
- 28:58Speaker 1: was only when I paid my bill that they said
- 29:00Speaker 1: they were gonna give us a 10% discount.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I said no thank you, and I never went back
- 29:05Speaker 1: to the place ever again. I mean, it, it really
- 29:08Speaker 1: varies differs from restaurant to restaurant. I mean there were,
- 29:10Speaker 1: there were some occasions where, um, you know, you go
- 29:13Speaker 1: to a restaurant, sometimes the manager comes around and say, hey,
- 29:15Speaker 1: how was your meal today?
- 29:16Speaker 1: And then if you happen to really not like one
- 29:20Speaker 1: of the dishes, do you find yourself ever giving actual feedback?
- 29:23Speaker 1: I do. OK, so I do also sometimes, yeah, sometimes,
- 29:27Speaker 1: but I don't expect a free meal out of it.
- 29:29Speaker 1: I'm just telling you like, hey, you know, actually everything
- 29:31Speaker 1: was good, but maybe this particular dish was, it didn't
- 29:34Speaker 1: hit the mark lah. Sometimes they may actually
- 29:37Speaker 1: Comp it if they decide, OK, maybe we could have
- 29:40Speaker 1: done better, you know, but that's really up to the restaurant,
- 29:42Speaker 1: how they want to handle it. I actually remember this
- 29:44Speaker 1: and I was shocked that I did this because this
- 29:47Speaker 1: is what my mom would do but I was on
- 29:48Speaker 1: a date. Oh, I think 2 or 3 years ago
- 29:53Speaker 1: at like a Michelin star restaurant. That wasn't your last date, right? No, no.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Just checking. Hey, just checking. Disclaimer, just because I'm officially
- 30:03Speaker 1: single doesn't mean I'm not going out or trying things out, OK?
- 30:05Speaker 1: Thank you. Before you all think I'm really hopeless. Um,
- 30:08Speaker 1: so at this restaurant, the, the meat they served, it was,
- 30:12Speaker 1: it was highly raved about, but I thought it was
- 30:15Speaker 1: a bit too salty, and my, and my date for
- 30:18Speaker 1: that evening thought it was too salty.
- 30:20Speaker 1: as well. So when the manager said, Hey, how's things?
- 30:22Speaker 1: I think he recognized who I was. So he asked.
- 30:23Speaker 1: I actually said, Hey man, you know, everything was great,
- 30:26Speaker 1: but I think the meat was a bit salty. So
- 30:28Speaker 1: he took a clean fork. He tried it. He went,
- 30:30Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry. You know what? Let
- 30:33Speaker 1: me comp you a bottle of wine. Oh, I didn't
- 30:36Speaker 1: say no to that. Yeah, that's a win. That bottle
- 30:38Speaker 1: of wine will drown out your memory steak.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Which is true. Uh, we've got Kim on the line
- 30:45Speaker 1: right now. OK, Kim, what happened and did you manage
- 30:47Speaker 1: to get any form of compensation?
- 30:49Speaker 2: I bought
- 30:50Speaker 2: my water filter, the dispenser, uh, it wasn't installed nicely and, uh,
- 30:55Speaker 2: it wasn't done a very good job. The water couldn't
- 30:57Speaker 2: dispense out. Yeah, I called up, but there, there isn't
- 31:00Speaker 2: anyone picking up. They never do any compensation, and I,
- 31:03Speaker 2: I was asking for, for even, uh, further discounts so
- 31:07Speaker 2: that I can buy the filter, um, wasn't given.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Oh man, that, that, that's just the worst. You know,
- 31:12Speaker 1: when you try to get a hold of their customer
- 31:14Speaker 1: service and no one responds, that's probably like the worst
- 31:17Speaker 1: thing that could happen. Oh my goodness, every time I
- 31:20Speaker 1: call a hotline for help, I want to give up
- 31:21Speaker 1: right here. The best or worst types of compensation you've
- 31:26Speaker 1: received before. You know how Singaporeans have the five Cs, right?
- 31:30Speaker 1: It should be the six C's compensation in there, yeah.
- 31:33Speaker 1: How about that? Wait, so the 5 or what? Credit card, condo, cash?
- 31:37Speaker 1: What the other carry club. Oh, country club. OK, OK.
- 31:41Speaker 1: So now yeah, compensation. You're only club I can afford
- 31:44Speaker 1: in my life, community club. OK. Such a dad joke. Anyway,
- 31:48Speaker 1: I want to say good morning to you, and I
- 31:50Speaker 1: think Sonia, you can relate to her text 100% 10. Morning, Sojo.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I'm seriously terrible at asking for compensation. Oh, that's me.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Join the club.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Once I bought a curry chicken takeaway from a mall
- 32:04Speaker 1: cafe chain that sells toast and coffee. Reached home, took
- 32:08Speaker 1: one bite and realized the chicken was not fully cooked.
- 32:11Speaker 1: I DM'ed them on IG with photos and everything, no reply.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Followed up again, then two weeks later they said someone
- 32:17Speaker 1: will reach out to you. Till today, there's no news
- 32:20Speaker 1: at all.
- 32:22Speaker 1: After that incident, my whole family unofficially blacklisted and stopped
- 32:24Speaker 1: patronizing them. The only thing fully cooked from that meal
- 32:27Speaker 1: was my disappointment. Aiyo, what a punchline though. Hey, you
- 32:32Speaker 1: know what, I completely understand what you mean because, uh,
- 32:36Speaker 1: I don't know if I should say this on air
- 32:37Speaker 1: because my mom is definitely tuning in. A few months ago, OK.
- 32:41Speaker 1: I ordered. Why you want to laugh already? Can you
- 32:43Speaker 1: not give me that face? I'm just chuckling. I'm so
- 32:45Speaker 1: happy to be here. Let me just tell you first.
- 32:48Speaker 1: So I, uh, I basically, um, ordered this brush, OK,
- 32:52Speaker 1: it was a hairbrush. Can you, can you hear me
- 32:55Speaker 1: out first? the story. It was a hairbrush with red
- 32:58Speaker 1: light therapy. OK. It's meant to be really good for
- 33:02Speaker 1: your hair and your hair will be nice and thick
- 33:03Speaker 1: and shiny, OK. So I just wanted to like take
- 33:06Speaker 1: better care of my hair. You got scammed, but OK.
- 33:09Speaker 1: You're not far from the truth, but so I ordered
- 33:12Speaker 1: it and because I was getting fed ads of this hairbrush,
- 33:16Speaker 1: like on socials, I just kept getting, I think they
- 33:18Speaker 1: just know who to target, you know. So I got
- 33:19Speaker 1: fed these ads. I ended up buying one, OK. It
- 33:22Speaker 1: was about like $52.52 dollars. I said, oh, quite OK
- 33:26Speaker 1: for like a hairbrush with, you know, what red light therapy,
- 33:28Speaker 1: all that.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Um, I never got a confirmation email after I bought it, OK.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I emailed them, I said, hey, um, did my order
- 33:36Speaker 1: go through because I didn't get anything. They said, yes, it,
- 33:39Speaker 1: it went through, um, and it would take about like
- 33:42Speaker 1: 2 weeks to get shipped out. I was like, OK, sure.
- 33:44Speaker 1: 2 weeks came and went, uh, and I was like, Hey,
- 33:46Speaker 1: where's my brush? So then I emailed them again. I said,
- 33:49Speaker 1: Hey guys, when is it coming? They said, oh, it's
- 33:51Speaker 1: getting shipped out. Still didn't get any confirmation. It's been
- 33:54Speaker 1: 3 weeks by now. I said, Guys, I want a refund.
- 33:57Speaker 1: They ghosted me.
- 34:02Speaker 1: I'm, I'm one to laugh. OK. I got ghosted. I
- 34:05Speaker 1: got no compensation. I lost $52. OK, at least it
- 34:09Speaker 1: was only $52 but still. Remember my neck pillow. Your
- 34:13Speaker 1: pillow is still not here, right? Still not here. It's
- 34:16Speaker 1: been almost a year, guys. Did you, the company didn't
- 34:18Speaker 1: give you any compensation. It's a fake company. See, see,
- 34:21Speaker 1: so see stupid Instagram and Facebook ads. You laugh at me,
- 34:24Speaker 1: you're gonna, yeah, but hey.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Careful on Facebook Marketplace people. That's all I'm gonna say.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Across the reputable online stores, we got Kyle on the
- 34:35Speaker 1: line right now. Kyle, what happens? Well, my flight was
- 34:37Speaker 1: delayed for 4 hours. Nothing has been compensated except for KFC.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Oh, Clearly that wasn't very satisfying and then what happened?
- 34:48Speaker 1: I don't get any compensation at all and just a
- 34:51Speaker 1: cup of non-gassy Coke. So it's flat. Oh man. In
- 34:56Speaker 1: your opinion, what would you have felt was a decent compensation?
- 35:01Speaker 1: Like what would you have wanted to be like a
- 35:03Speaker 1: voucher or something, you know, at least a voucher, but
- 35:06Speaker 1: not a flat Coke. You know, I, I get it
- 35:08Speaker 1: because sometimes when there are delays, certain airlines might actually
- 35:11Speaker 1: offer like um
- 35:12Speaker 1: A shopping voucher or something for their online store. Using
- 35:15Speaker 1: my knowledge, I think maybe Kyle was flying a cheaper
- 35:19Speaker 1: airline because the higher ones might have given you a
- 35:19Speaker 1: snack pack, yeah, if you think about it a gift
- 35:26Speaker 1: vouchers to shop probably. Oh, I apologize.
- 35:29Speaker 1: It was a poor choice of words earlier when I
- 35:31Speaker 1: said I didn't realize this was a bit of a
- 35:32Speaker 1: ghost town in Woodley. I mean, I was chuckling because
- 35:36Speaker 1: you know what Woodley was before it became an estate, right? Exactly.
- 35:40Speaker 1: It was a cemetery. Yes. OK, just in case you
- 35:44Speaker 1: did not know and you're tuning in right now, um,
- 35:46Speaker 1: over at Woodley Mall, which I assume could be one
- 35:49Speaker 1: of the neighborhood malls residents will go to for, you know,
- 35:52Speaker 1: just food, shopping, essentials and things like that.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Um, there's been reportedly multiple closures of shops in Woodley Mall,
- 36:02Speaker 1: and I think they've cited like very high, um, rental prices,
- 36:06Speaker 1: expensive parking.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Um, that has resulted in pretty low footfall as well,
- 36:11Speaker 1: and that's why the shops keep turning over and changing
- 36:14Speaker 1: to the point where I think in the area where there's,
- 36:17Speaker 1: you know, the food hall area, it's pretty empty now. It,
- 36:20Speaker 1: it's gonna be another pot. You're right. I think the
- 36:26Speaker 1: Chai is the only one that's surviving OK right now,
- 36:29Speaker 1: but other than that, it seems like they're trying to
- 36:31Speaker 1: revive it. But um, places like Burger King, Lee Brothers.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Shenko, even those units appear vacated, you know, Burger King, yeah,
- 36:39Speaker 1: and this was as of 5th of May. OK, you know,
- 36:42Speaker 1: it's bad when a fast food chain closes down at
- 36:44Speaker 1: a mall. Yeah, so, um, other levels appeared a little
- 36:47Speaker 1: bit more stable. Sometimes you don't know whether is it
- 36:49Speaker 1: the layout of the place, you know, certain malls are
- 36:52Speaker 1: difficult to navigate, difficult to access. I've never been to
- 36:55Speaker 1: Woodley Mall, so I don't know. It could be the
- 36:57Speaker 1: layout of the mall, but perhaps maybe the next time
- 37:00Speaker 1: they open a new stall or new store.
- 37:03Speaker 1: They should get people to bless the place and then
- 37:05Speaker 1: see what happens, you know, whenever they open a new
- 37:07Speaker 1: train station, they get like all, all what, like 10
- 37:10Speaker 1: religions or something to like come and bless it, right?
- 37:12Speaker 1: I mean, we're not saying anything, just, just, just get
- 37:16Speaker 1: it out of the way. Actually, customers are complaining that
- 37:18Speaker 1: the parking layout is very bad and the cost of
- 37:21Speaker 1: the parking is what's preventing them from going there. So
- 37:24Speaker 1: maybe they fix that, they can fix the whole um
- 37:27Speaker 1: tenant situation.
- 37:29Speaker 1: The developers or people who designed the mall. It is,
- 37:31Speaker 1: it is, but you know, you and I know that
- 37:34Speaker 1: there are certain malls here in Singapore, seriously, the layout
- 37:37Speaker 1: needs to change. Don't get us started. By the way,
- 37:40Speaker 1: all the word about the weekend coming to Asia and
- 37:42Speaker 1: Singapore finally, we're so excited. So I am predicting early
- 37:47Speaker 1: next year because this year we've got a couple of
- 37:49Speaker 1: big acts already, especially BTS to wrap us all up,
- 37:52Speaker 1: which is last quarter of this year, right? In the
- 37:54Speaker 1: month of December, yeah.
- 37:56Speaker 1: that said yesterday, of course, to all the mothers, maternal
- 38:01Speaker 1: figures as well. Happy belated Mother's Day. Yes, um, I mean, look,
- 38:06Speaker 1: if you brought your mama out, got her flowers, you know,
- 38:09Speaker 1: brought her for lunch and all that, I'm sure you
- 38:11Speaker 1: had a good time. I brought my mom to, uh,
- 38:13Speaker 1: one of her favorite places, Violet Oon. Praakan food. How
- 38:17Speaker 1: was the rim and good actually. I feel like they're standard.
- 38:20Speaker 1: I'm not paid to say this, by the way, I'm
- 38:22Speaker 1: a paying customer at Violet Oon and
- 38:23Speaker 1: Um, they're very sweet. They always say, Oh my God, hey,
- 38:25Speaker 1: you guys are back. And it was so funny because, um,
- 38:29Speaker 1: my mom loves this particular quay from, from Violet, and we,
- 38:33Speaker 1: we usually go to the Ion one. So they brought
- 38:36Speaker 1: a platter out as a surprise for her for Mother's Day.
- 38:39Speaker 1: So it's very sweet, yeah, yeah, yeah. So yeah, it
- 38:41Speaker 1: was very memorable. I think my mom and I, we
- 38:43Speaker 1: kept things quite simple. After a mass on Saturday night,
- 38:47Speaker 1: Sunset Mass, I asked her, what do you feel like eating?
- 38:50Speaker 1: She said.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Hi Tauola. Oh yes. Oh, that was when you sent
- 38:53Speaker 1: me the video bubble. That was your Mother's Day celebration. OK.
- 38:57Speaker 1: She was so happy. And then there's a table next
- 38:58Speaker 1: to us. I want to give a shout out to
- 39:00Speaker 1: this young lady called Simone who was celebrating her sister's birthday. OK.
- 39:05Speaker 1: And then when the Hai Tilauo people sang the birthday,
- 39:07Speaker 1: so my mom joined in. I mean she was clapping
- 39:10Speaker 1: her part-time job, making new friends. Hi auntie, she's the
- 39:15Speaker 1: party starter side quest, yeah.
