- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Today we're still in the park, but we're heading to a different spot. Lucas: Right. After all those ducks and fountains, let's check out the playground. Luna: Oh, a playground! I love playgrounds. So, what are we learning today? Lucas: We'll learn some words for playground equipment. For example, a slide is 'scivolo'. Luna: Scivolo. Like a slide we slide down. Okay. Lucas: And we can say 'c'è uno scivolo' — there is a slide. Luna: C'è uno scivolo. So c'è means 'there is'? Lucas: Exactly. For one thing, we use c'è. For multiple, we say ci sono. Luna: Got it. So 'c'è uno scivolo' — there is a slide. Repeat after me, listeners: c'è uno scivolo. Lucas: Good. Now, a swing is 'altalena'. So 'c'è un'altalena'. Luna: C'è un'altalena. Watch the apostrophe — un'altalena because altalena starts with a. Lucas: Yes. And a sandbox is 'sabbiera'. C'è una sabbiera. Luna: C'è una sabbiera. So we have slide, swing, sandbox. What about the children? Lucas: Right. 'Children' is 'bambini'. And we say 'ci sono bambini' — there are children. Luna: Ci sono bambini. And they play? 'Giocano'? Lucas: Exactly. 'I bambini giocano' — the children play. Or 'I bambini giocano sullo scivolo'. Luna: I bambini giocano sullo scivolo. The children play on the slide. That's a full sentence! Lucas: Let's practice all together. Repeat after me: c'è uno scivolo. Luna: C'è uno scivolo. Lucas: C'è un'altalena. Luna: C'è un'altalena. Lucas: C'è una sabbiera. Luna: C'è una sabbiera. Lucas: Ci sono bambini. Luna: Ci sono bambini. Lucas: I bambini giocano. Luna: I bambini giocano. I think I got it. Lucas: Now, let's imagine we're at the playground. You see a slide. What do you say? Luna: C'è uno scivolo! And it's yellow. But I don't know how to say yellow yet. Lucas: We'll get there. For now, you see a swing and children. What do you say? Luna: C'è un'altalena e ci sono bambini. Lucas: Perfect. And you see a sandbox with children playing? Luna: C'è una sabbiera e i bambini giocano nella sabbiera. Lucas: Nella sabbiera — in the sandbox. Nice addition. Luna: This is fun. I feel like I can describe a playground now. Lucas: You can.
