1:27
SPEAKER_01: We're talking about a lot of emotional stuff tonight.
1:31
SPEAKER_01: Um, we have some big milestones happening this weekend, this week, and then we're making some crazy big announcements on this episode.

1:44
SPEAKER_01: You just wait, you might be in tears.

1:55
SPEAKER_01: Yes, messy as my polished is getting an overhaul.
1:59
SPEAKER_01: And we're gonna be relaunching that very, very soon.
2:02
SPEAKER_01: So if you want the OG, it's still available, and of course, 10% of the profits will go to our lovely friends at Ballet Witch Talk.
2:11
SPEAKER_01: But we also have the redo coming out, the new design from Messy is my polish.
2:17
SPEAKER_01: 10% of the profits of this line will also go to our lovely friends at Ballet Witch Top.
2:22
SPEAKER_01: We love you guys so much.
2:23
SPEAKER_01: We love you so, so much.
2:25
SPEAKER_00: Thank you for the support, and thank you for all the lovely times.
2:28
SPEAKER_01: And I noticed we also, you know, of course, we we also have our uncorked and slightly unhinged design as well.
2:35
SPEAKER_01: And I saw over the weekend that our lovely friend Giovanna, she purchased one.
2:41
SPEAKER_01: I'm so excited to see that.
2:42
SPEAKER_01: Thank you, Giovanna.
2:43
SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
2:44
SPEAKER_01: Very cool.
2:44
SPEAKER_01: That's all we can all be like triplizies, you know, twinsies, but triplizies.
2:49
SPEAKER_01: Well, we have to.
2:50
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're gonna have to make it happen.
2:52
SPEAKER_01: So let us know when you get yours in, and we'll all meet up.
2:56
SPEAKER_01: Maybe that's what we'll wear on our coffee breaks.
2:58
SPEAKER_01: Oh, on Wednesdays.
3:00
SPEAKER_01: Sorry, I that's right.
3:02
SPEAKER_00: We wear plum on Wednesdays.
3:03
SPEAKER_00: We wear plum.
3:04
SPEAKER_00: Plum on Wednesdays.
3:05
SPEAKER_00: I love that.
3:05
SPEAKER_00: Yes, it doesn't have to be plum colored, it still has our logo on it, but you know what I mean.
3:10
SPEAKER_00: It's very blushed pink.
3:12
SPEAKER_00: I totally know correct that.
3:14
SPEAKER_00: No, it's all good, it's wonderful.
3:17
SPEAKER_00: But yes, thank you to everybody that buys merch.
3:19
SPEAKER_00: It really helps support us, it helps support like the whole community and everything that we're trying to bring together.
3:25
SPEAKER_00: It also, you know, of course, supports Ballywich Top.
3:28
SPEAKER_00: So we love those guys.
3:29
SPEAKER_01: Yes, because we never say that.
3:32
SPEAKER_01: Right.
3:33
SPEAKER_01: Um, and then of course, follow, subscribe, review us, all the stuff on Spotify, YouTube, wherever you eat your podcasts.
3:40
SPEAKER_01: We always appreciate it.
3:41
SPEAKER_01: Now it's time before we dive into our trends segment, we gotta catch up with each other.
3:46
SPEAKER_01: It's been a minute.
3:47
SPEAKER_00: Well, okay.
3:48
SPEAKER_00: Well, should I go first?
3:50
SPEAKER_00: It sounds like you have more tea than I do.
3:52
SPEAKER_00: So I will start.
3:54
SPEAKER_00: What did I do?
3:55
SPEAKER_00: Well, I went to a lovely wedding this weekend.
3:57
SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes, and I love the pictures.
3:59
SPEAKER_00: Oh, it was a lot of fun.
4:01
SPEAKER_00: Everybody had a good time, everyone was in good spirits.
4:04
SPEAKER_00: The bride was beautiful, the venue was very nice.
4:08
SPEAKER_00: It was held at hidden vineyards in Bayes, which was very it was very cute.
4:14
SPEAKER_00: It was perfect because it was the first hottest day we've had here in the upper 80s, but it didn't feel too bad.
4:20
SPEAKER_00: And I, you know me, I get very hot very easily.
4:24
SPEAKER_00: But the uh the ceremony was held like through this little windy gravel area surrounded by trees, and it was a covered little area.
4:32
SPEAKER_00: Um, the wedding party was in the sun, of course.
4:35
SPEAKER_00: Poor thing.
4:36
SPEAKER_00: Best for pictures, though.
4:37
SPEAKER_00: For sure.
4:37
SPEAKER_00: So ideal.
4:38
SPEAKER_00: But it was very cute, very quaint, and then their reception was gorgeous as well.
4:43
SPEAKER_00: They had a delicious taco bar.
4:45
SPEAKER_00: Ooh, taco bar! I need to ask who they used because the meat in those tacos was really good.
4:49
SPEAKER_00: I told my date, I was like, Yeah, just give me, I was like, Yeah, I'll just share a plate with you.
4:53
SPEAKER_00: Just give me a taco or something.
4:55
SPEAKER_00: And he came back with a plate, but he knew.
4:57
SPEAKER_00: He was like, Yeah, here, have a bite of this one.
4:59
SPEAKER_00: It's a good one.
4:59
SPEAKER_00: Have a bite of this one, have a bite of this one.
5:02
SPEAKER_00: So I got to try all the tacos.
5:03
SPEAKER_00: And the meat in all of them was very, very good.
5:05
SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna ask who who supplied the meat for that taco bar because it was delicious.
5:10
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, it was a great event.
5:12
SPEAKER_00: Open bar, open fun.
5:14
SPEAKER_00: They had glow sticks like your wedding.
5:16
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, of course.
5:17
SPEAKER_00: I love glow sticks.
5:18
SPEAKER_00: That always adds a little fun to it.
5:19
SPEAKER_00: The kids had a blast, it was so fun seeing everybody there just having a good time together.
5:24
SPEAKER_00: There was no drama or anything, like it just went really swimmingly.
5:28
SPEAKER_00: So that was really fun.
5:30
SPEAKER_00: Another catch up.
5:32
SPEAKER_00: I that was my first weekend in town in a while.
5:35
SPEAKER_00: So I got to feel like I was at home.
5:37
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
5:38
SPEAKER_00: Um, I got to kind of catch up on house stuff.
5:40
SPEAKER_00: I moved, oh, I moved some of my plants outside.
5:44
SPEAKER_00: Oh, it is that time of year.
5:46
SPEAKER_00: So now I I don't think it's gonna freeze anymore.
5:48
SPEAKER_00: So I'm clear.
5:49
SPEAKER_00: So now I'm starting to have my cozy outdoor oasis being created as well on my back deck.
5:56
SPEAKER_00: So that's been really nice.
5:58
SPEAKER_00: Repotting my plants and just like touching base with all them has been very healing.
6:04
SPEAKER_00: And so that was really nice.
6:06
SPEAKER_00: I'm still slowly, that's always a process, you know.
6:09
SPEAKER_00: And then it becomes kind of a fun thing.
6:10
SPEAKER_00: But right now it's still seeing who needs what as far as my plants go, and then rearranging my indoor space as well.
6:20
SPEAKER_00: Because when I move my plants out, my house looks so bare.
6:24
SPEAKER_00: My room looks my room, my living room, my office, they look so much bigger.
6:31
SPEAKER_00: So much ripper activity.
6:32
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, whoa! And I'm like, wow, I didn't realize I didn't vacuum behind that guy for half a season till now.
6:42
SPEAKER_00: Or like, you know, just all those little things.
6:44
SPEAKER_00: So I'm rearranging indoor, out, and outdoor, and it's making me kind of feel way more cozy at home.
6:50
SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's nice.
6:51
SPEAKER_00: Um, and then yeah, I think my last update, I went tanning in like a new tanning bed today.
6:59
SPEAKER_00: Oh, how did that feel?
7:01
SPEAKER_00: It was wild.
7:02
SPEAKER_00: The acrylic was bent to my body shape.
7:05
SPEAKER_00: So my back and my booty were like propped up.
7:11
SPEAKER_00: I don't know how to describe it, but it was kind of nice.
7:14
SPEAKER_00: It was like perfect.
7:15
SPEAKER_00: I was like, okay.
7:16
SPEAKER_00: Where's this at?
7:17
SPEAKER_00: It was Planet Fitness.
7:18
SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
7:19
SPEAKER_00: But they're all different since I'm going to different locations now.
7:22
SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, yes.
7:23
SPEAKER_00: I'm learning all the different things they've got to offer.
7:25
SPEAKER_00: And it was a 10-minute bed, and I didn't know how to use all the buttons, right?
7:30
SPEAKER_00: So I hit this button because I was like, there's no fan on when I got in there.
7:33
SPEAKER_00: And then I finally hit the fan button, and then it went all of a sudden a blue, about blew my little eye stickers off.
7:42
SPEAKER_00: Because I use the sticker versions, I don't like the goggles.
7:46
SPEAKER_00: I don't like the too much to carry in my purse, anyways.
7:48
SPEAKER_00: I just use the disposable little sticker foil things that look like astronaut goggles, but or like old Madonna's boobies.
7:57
SPEAKER_00: But um, I used those and they about blew them off my eyes, but it was actually very nice because I was hot at all when I got out, and I feel like I got really good color in like 10 minutes.
8:09
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's like, shoot, okay, there you go.
8:11
SPEAKER_00: Get it done.
8:13
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we don't have time to play around here.
8:15
SPEAKER_01: So those are my updates.
8:17
SPEAKER_01: Amazing.
8:19
SPEAKER_01: I feel like so.
8:21
SPEAKER_01: Last week we had Nick's last band concert.
8:26
SPEAKER_01: He had a solo and he didn't tell any of us.
8:29
SPEAKER_01: Of course not.
8:30
SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, my son, front and center of the stage.
8:36
SPEAKER_01: He did.
8:37
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
8:38
SPEAKER_01: You're kidding.
8:38
SPEAKER_01: Front and center.
8:39
SPEAKER_01: Um, he had like a couple of people on this side of him, a couple people on this side of him.
8:43
SPEAKER_01: He just did this lovely, like there, you know, the whole composition, of course, but he had the solo parts on his trumpet.
8:50
SPEAKER_01: And for his very last band concert, I swear in all of his band concerts, he's always like hidden because he's shorter, you know.
9:02
SPEAKER_01: He's always hidden.
9:03
SPEAKER_00: So he's tall now.
9:04
SPEAKER_01: Well, he's tall now, but he's still not as tall as the other people in his class.
9:08
SPEAKER_01: So when we go to his concerts, he's always been mostly hidden.
9:12
SPEAKER_01: Or if he's not so hidden, then for whatever reason, the band director was always standing right in front, like obstructing our view every time.
9:22
SPEAKER_01: Jerk.
9:22
SPEAKER_01: But this time, the very last one, front and center.
9:28
SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, the pictures that I picked and the videos that I vided.
9:34
SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, and the tears that fell.
9:38
SPEAKER_01: So I oh my gosh, it was absolutely I'm still just completely blown away and so obviously proud.
9:44
SPEAKER_01: He did a phenomenal job.
9:46
SPEAKER_01: I'm happy for you guys.
9:47
SPEAKER_01: And I but I and I didn't cry very hard that time, but then they played Golden for the finale, and it was like all of the bands and orchestra together, and they just they did it so well.
9:59
SPEAKER_01: And of course, the stupid lyrics are in my head because I know the lyrics to every song I ever hear.
10:06
SPEAKER_01: And oh god, that's when the water races and I'm like, of course, it's gonna happen at the end when we're about to like walk out and everyone's gonna see everyone.
10:15
SPEAKER_01: But tears of pride, joy, blown awayness.
10:19
SPEAKER_01: That blown away blown away.
10:24
SPEAKER_01: Mind blown.
10:25
SPEAKER_01: It's probably the correct one.
10:26
SPEAKER_01: Well, I think there's gotta be more.
10:28
SPEAKER_01: I just stupefied.
10:29
SPEAKER_01: I was stupefied.
10:30
SPEAKER_01: I just I was taken way aback, and it was such a phenomenal night.
10:37
SPEAKER_01: It was gosh, it was a beautiful, just a beautiful way for him to end his high school majority.
10:42
SPEAKER_00: I'm so glad he wasn't blocked by other students or by his own instructor.
10:47
SPEAKER_00: Like, geez.
10:49
SPEAKER_00: Obvious.
10:49
SPEAKER_00: Like, honestly, at this point, why don't they just put the instructor on like a freaking like a projector or something for them?
10:56
SPEAKER_01: So get him out of the get him out of the way of the parents'.
11:00
SPEAKER_01: And find them like ways to elevate, like, you know, like they do in choir where you can see everyone, but you they don't do that in band, so they don't make risers for bands.
11:09
SPEAKER_00: This just this just being think of like if that professor's wife is always there at all his concerts that he's doing this too, just rooting him on.
11:19
SPEAKER_00: Like, she's probably like gonna be pissed when they do turn into a projectile.
11:25
SPEAKER_01: I don't, I mean, traditionally, that will probably never happen.
11:29
SPEAKER_01: I know, I don't think it's but it but it's a wonderful idea.
11:32
SPEAKER_01: I mean it too.
11:33
SPEAKER_01: I think parents everywhere.
11:34
SPEAKER_00: Dude, that's your job.
11:36
SPEAKER_00: She's busy working her own job.
11:40
SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
11:41
SPEAKER_01: So there was But that's a good job with he was phenomenal.
11:46
SPEAKER_01: And then Thursday night, I went to this really cool, no, Wednesday or Thursday night.
11:51
SPEAKER_01: I can't remember which night.
11:53
SPEAKER_01: It was phenomenal.
11:54
SPEAKER_01: I had been invited to this Wichita Builders event.
11:58
SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah.
12:00
SPEAKER_01: Yes.
12:01
SPEAKER_01: I haven't been told this yet, you guys.
12:04
SPEAKER_01: She was waiting.
12:05
SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, this was so back in the day, 2016, 20, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, all pre-pandemic.
12:16
SPEAKER_01: These are years when I got very, very comfortable networking and then became an organizer for Wichita's One Million Cups chapter, an organizer for our startup grind chapter, Board of Digital Wichita.
12:31
SPEAKER_01: There's pro oh organizing committee for gosh, what was it called?
12:36
SPEAKER_01: There was another one that we were just talking about the other night.
12:39
SPEAKER_01: But so basically, the entrepreneurial scene for Wichita and the startup scene for Wichita, mesh it all together.
12:47
SPEAKER_01: Entrepreneurial startup scene, blah blah blah.
12:50
SPEAKER_01: You have all these brilliant, innovative minds and investors all together mingling all the time.
12:58
SPEAKER_01: And it was amazing.
12:59
SPEAKER_01: We all knew each other, and it was so like we're all going so fast.
13:02
SPEAKER_01: This is how I know Chrissy.
13:03
SPEAKER_01: This is how I know Jennifer Herring.
13:05
SPEAKER_01: This is that this is how I know so many people in my network now that are friends of mine.
13:10
SPEAKER_01: My friend Lacey Leatherman, she's a huge, she bought many X Stans from us when we had the X Stan Company.
13:17
SPEAKER_01: These are, yeah, these are these folks.
13:19
SPEAKER_01: I love X.
13:19
SPEAKER_01: And so we I randomly got a message from Lannon, who's like a Witched all life, the other, like a couple weeks back on LinkedIn, and he invited me to this event.
13:29
SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, sure, why not?
13:32
SPEAKER_01: I had no idea what to expect.
13:34
SPEAKER_01: I walk up the stairs, upstairs at the depot, into this room full of people that I had not been, so many of us had not been in the same room with each other since probably 2019 or 2018.
13:49
SPEAKER_01: It's crazy.
13:50
SPEAKER_00: That was so long ago.
13:52
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know.
13:53
SPEAKER_01: It's been bizarre to me.
13:54
SPEAKER_01: It still seems like last year.
13:56
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
13:56
SPEAKER_00: It's like such a time warp.
13:58
SPEAKER_00: It doesn't seem that long ago until I actually realize what I'm dating my HR paperwork as.
14:03
SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, what the hell?
14:04
SPEAKER_00: Like we're in 26.
14:06
SPEAKER_00: What taxes did I just pay?
14:09
SPEAKER_01: So I'm having conversations with people that I had so many of us.
14:14
SPEAKER_01: We just went around the room so excited to see each other and catch up with each other.
14:19
SPEAKER_01: And like it was, we were all saying this repeatedly.
14:22
SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, I don't think any, I don't think all of us have been together since probably 2019.
14:28
SPEAKER_01: And it the conversations that we had, the guest potential for this podcast also, because there were some announcements that I made, we'll get to those later.
14:39
SPEAKER_01: Yes.
14:40
SPEAKER_01: That were fresh on my brain when I went to that event.
14:43
SPEAKER_01: We have some very exciting things that we're going to be announcing later on this pod on this episode.
14:47
SPEAKER_01: So stay tuned.
14:48
SPEAKER_00: I remember you telling me the intro to this that you knew that this was happening and you didn't think that I could come because I was at work, but oh my god.
14:56
SPEAKER_01: It was epic.
14:57
SPEAKER_01: And like we're already starting to like we have an in email in our inbox right now from somebody that I just met.
15:04
SPEAKER_00: I was seeing it blow up a little bit.
15:06
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like new followers.
15:08
SPEAKER_00: I was like, Oh, I didn't I didn't meet you, but I know we met you.
15:13
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, and that's also back in the day when we met, and we would go through certain networking things together too.
15:19
SPEAKER_01: And so you are privy to a lot of that circle of stuff.
15:21
SPEAKER_01: Oh, they've all seen me.
15:23
SPEAKER_01: Oh, they've all seen you, and they all now know about this podcast, which is funny because back when I was like interacting with all of them back in those days, I also had a show, but it was you know the one that I did from the back of the hopping room every Friday at four.
15:38
SPEAKER_01: Yes, Stacy.
15:39
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and so many of these folks had been guests on that show.
15:43
SPEAKER_01: And so it was just a really great experience.
15:46
SPEAKER_01: Some wonderful conversations were had, and just I I loved getting to reconnect with all these brilliant minds that we have in Wichita.
15:53
SPEAKER_01: And let me tell you, there's some ridiculously exciting things happening, and hopefully, we're going to have several of these folks on our show as guests.
16:02
SPEAKER_01: Oh, I'm sure we will.
16:04
SPEAKER_01: I'm sure we will too.
16:05
SPEAKER_00: It's just a matter of like fishing them and reeling them in and saying, hey, get on here and talk about it with us.
16:10
SPEAKER_00: Well, and with all the events going on, I mean, not only are we busy, these other business owners and entrepreneurs are also so busy with these events.
16:17
SPEAKER_00: So, like, it's just kind of finding the crosshairs and like the way we can spider web together.
16:21
SPEAKER_00: Side note, I just realized as I'm looking myself in the camera, I didn't mention my other update.
16:26
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
16:27
SPEAKER_00: I got a haircut by our beloved Jennifer Short at Color Therapy.
16:33
SPEAKER_00: Please, by all means, go figure, go find her, go and get your hair figured out the way I did.
16:40
SPEAKER_00: It's just phenomenal.
16:41
SPEAKER_00: I feel like it just lives again.
16:44
SPEAKER_00: Okay, guys.
16:45
SPEAKER_01: It's light, it's bright, it's beautiful.
16:47
SPEAKER_00: It has life.
16:48
SPEAKER_00: She knows exactly what to do with it.
16:50
SPEAKER_00: I came in there and I was like, you know how I like to wear it.
16:52
SPEAKER_00: This is how I style it.
16:54
SPEAKER_00: I laugh there of style it.
16:56
SPEAKER_00: I just braid it and I unbraid it, and that's all I want to have to do.
16:59
SPEAKER_00: And she just like figured it out.
17:01
SPEAKER_00: She got it, she nailed it.
17:03
SPEAKER_01: She nailed it.
17:04
SPEAKER_01: I knew she would.
17:05
SPEAKER_01: Jennifer, you're freaking amazing.
17:09
SPEAKER_00: Yes, I didn't even mention on my ketchup.
17:11
SPEAKER_00: I meant to it just now.
17:12
SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh, oh, yes, no.
17:15
SPEAKER_00: And I was and I was so glad I was able to fit it in before I went to that wedding I spoke about.
17:19
SPEAKER_00: So I had to throw that in there.
17:21
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
17:21
SPEAKER_00: After your catch-up.
17:23
SPEAKER_00: My gosh, yeah.
17:23
SPEAKER_00: We have to drop a major plug to her.
17:26
SPEAKER_00: She's amazing.
17:27
SPEAKER_00: She does so many things more than hair.
17:29
SPEAKER_00: She is like an all inside and outside healer.
17:34
SPEAKER_00: So by all means, go check her out.
17:37
SPEAKER_01: Of course, we'll hyperlink her again here so you can find her.
17:40
SPEAKER_01: She's past guests, as you know.
17:42
SPEAKER_01: So now is a fun time.
17:44
SPEAKER_01: Oh gosh, are we going into we're getting into our trend segment where I uh talk about a couple of trending topics, situations that are popular on the internet right now, and Rachel tries to guess what they're all about.
18:02
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
18:03
SPEAKER_01: Because I'm gonna guess that you haven't seen either of these.
18:06
SPEAKER_01: I'm so excited for this first one.
18:08
SPEAKER_01: Okay, the first the first topic is Red Flats Queen.
18:14
SPEAKER_01: Red Flats?
18:16
SPEAKER_01: The Red Flats Queen.
18:17
SPEAKER_01: This is why you had to have a red marker.
18:19
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
18:20
SPEAKER_01: Told her before the show a red marker is a must if she feels like illustrating anything.
18:24
SPEAKER_01: Red flats.
18:25
SPEAKER_01: Red flats queen.
18:27
SPEAKER_00: Okay, well, I'm just gonna speak out loud in my brain.
18:30
SPEAKER_00: So the first thing that comes to my mind for some reason is well, obviously, red flat shoes.
18:39
SPEAKER_00: That kind of makes me think of like a power Karen.
18:43
SPEAKER_00: A power Karen.
18:44
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
18:45
SPEAKER_00: Like woman in the office that's like, well, actually, at first my my brain some reason went to tomato flights.
18:53
SPEAKER_00: Tomato flights.
18:55
SPEAKER_00: I know we've mentioned that before on this podcast.
18:57
SPEAKER_00: Oh, we have back in the day.
19:00
SPEAKER_00: The day when we first started these trend things.
19:03
SPEAKER_00: I don't know why.
19:05
SPEAKER_00: Because tomatoes are red.
19:06
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
19:06
SPEAKER_00: I love tomatoes.
19:07
SPEAKER_00: I know you don't.
19:09
SPEAKER_00: But summer is coming and good tomatoes are upon us.
19:11
SPEAKER_00: That's very true.
19:12
SPEAKER_00: And this is the second.
19:13
SPEAKER_00: She said that with pain in her heart.
19:16
SPEAKER_00: She said that.
19:17
SPEAKER_01: You said that's very true.
19:19
SPEAKER_01: This is the second conversation I've had about tomatoes in the last 48 hours, okay?
19:24
SPEAKER_00: Only two conversations.
19:26
SPEAKER_00: Wow.
19:26
SPEAKER_00: I talk about tomatoes a lot.
19:28
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
19:28
SPEAKER_00: But I know that can't be it.
19:30
SPEAKER_00: So I'm thinking it's like.
19:33
SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like how I wore really bright green pants today.
19:37
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I can't wait to see those pants.
19:39
SPEAKER_00: I feel like it's uh a but a red flat.
19:42
SPEAKER_00: I don't even know the pair of flats, but I have very white feet.
19:45
SPEAKER_00: It's very difficult to find a comfortable pair.
19:48
SPEAKER_01: Okay, so this is a trend.
19:49
SPEAKER_01: Do people It's not a trend.
19:51
SPEAKER_01: It's more of a topic of conversation this week.
19:54
SPEAKER_01: Very popular, very viral topic of conversation.
19:57
SPEAKER_00: I feel like that would be like man, you know, I don't even think an HR queen would wear red flats unless she was just like in the right company.
20:08
SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, that's where my office sprint goes.
20:11
SPEAKER_00: Red flat queen.
20:13
SPEAKER_00: Or is it like a flat, like an apartment?
20:16
SPEAKER_00: Whoa.
20:17
SPEAKER_00: No, it's not that.
20:18
SPEAKER_00: They wear heels if they're work, if they're going up to a flat of them.
20:24
SPEAKER_00: That red light special flat.
20:27
SPEAKER_00: Oh, they are wearing heels.
20:29
SPEAKER_00: I was not happy about that.
20:33
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they're wearing heels if they do that.
20:35
SPEAKER_00: I'm thinking a red flat queen is probably when you're talking about just like I don't know.
20:46
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, follow the yellow brick road.
20:49
SPEAKER_00: Don't don't take the red slippers.
20:51
SPEAKER_00: So I don't know.
20:52
SPEAKER_00: Do you feel like there's anything aspirational about that energy?
20:56
SPEAKER_00: I do think so.
20:57
SPEAKER_00: It doesn't feel exhausting.
20:58
SPEAKER_00: Well, anything with the word queen isn't it?
21:00
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
21:00
SPEAKER_00: Get it queen.
21:03
unknown: Oh my god.
21:04
SPEAKER_00: Isn't that what I just did?
21:05
SPEAKER_00: No, you said isn't it?
21:07
SPEAKER_00: I said, in it.
21:09
SPEAKER_00: That's the energy I was giving, though.
21:12
SPEAKER_00: Okay, I feel like a red a red flat queen is one that like she's a boss ass bitch, gets her shit done.
21:19
SPEAKER_00: She could throw on a nice outfit, but she can go and party after.
21:24
SPEAKER_00: But you know what?
21:25
SPEAKER_00: Respect the ankles.
21:26
SPEAKER_00: We're flats with good support.
21:30
SPEAKER_00: I don't know what to say to this one.
21:32
SPEAKER_00: I feel like she could also like throw down.
21:35
SPEAKER_00: Like, I if I'm gonna go to a woman that I need to have on my side that's like if we're going to a business party, let's say there's someone wearing red flats, there's someone wearing black wedges, I'm gonna be like red flats.
21:52
SPEAKER_00: Didn't seem red flats.
21:53
SPEAKER_01: We're going to the lot.
21:54
SPEAKER_01: Girl, okay.
21:55
SPEAKER_01: Hold my hoops.
21:57
SPEAKER_01: So there were several boxes in this description that I was kind of looking for.
22:02
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
22:02
SPEAKER_01: And you checked all of it.
22:04
SPEAKER_01: I did.
22:05
SPEAKER_01: Yes.
22:06
SPEAKER_01: Now you're not, you're not.
22:07
SPEAKER_01: Exactly right, but you are ba like you described the person okay that is the topic of conversation okay uh t so this person the red flats queen who is she like she changed her tick tock handle to red flats queen okay because of this whole conversation so what she she is she was she's a Met Gala assistant oh who went viral for being completely calm and in control amid total Met Gala chaos although it was funny because the video the original video of the person that was like oh my gosh look at this queen so she's wearing red flags and and a dress and a bag and she's you just see her scurrying across and saying things and no and move this way or I don't give there's one point where she's in the video she's like I don't give a fuck what you do and she just scurs scurries off the other way she is just like in complete control the entire time telling people what to do, where to move, get out of her way.
23:10
SPEAKER_01: I don't give a shit.
23:11
SPEAKER_01: Okay, she totally owned it.
23:13
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
23:14
SPEAKER_01: Like so what did I say at first about a Karen?
23:16
SPEAKER_00: I said like a kind of you's asked Karen.
23:19
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I don't think she was a Karen though.
23:21
SPEAKER_01: She was just a complete like, I know what I need to get done.
23:23
SPEAKER_01: This is my job, and I'm here to fucking do it.
23:25
SPEAKER_00: Well, I guess what I think of a Karen, I think, and I don't know what I initially said, I said something.
23:31
SPEAKER_01: It was very close to yeah, I know Karen was involved.
23:34
SPEAKER_01: Poor Karen.
23:36
SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, Karen's out there.
23:37
SPEAKER_01: I know.
23:38
SPEAKER_00: We've really got a better one.
23:39
SPEAKER_00: There's some good ones out there for sure.
23:41
SPEAKER_00: The thing is, you're the mega boss.
23:44
SPEAKER_00: The people have to get by.
23:46
SPEAKER_00: That's true.
23:46
SPEAKER_00: No, no, no.
23:47
SPEAKER_00: So my thing was like I think all Karen's are boss ass bitches because you don't give a fuck.
23:55
SPEAKER_00: That is true.
23:57
SPEAKER_00: They never do.
23:59
SPEAKER_00: Well, and I mean Karen is like the whatever trendy sense that it is.
24:05
SPEAKER_00: I wish I was more of one.
24:07
SPEAKER_01: So, okay, so there there are pros and cons to the Karen-ness, I feel like.
24:11
SPEAKER_01: Like, I feel to me, a Karen isn't like a I need to talk to the manager.
24:17
SPEAKER_01: I think too squishy.
24:19
SPEAKER_01: That kind of Karen.
24:20
SPEAKER_01: You're right.
24:21
SPEAKER_01: But there's like maybe she's a I don't know.
24:25
SPEAKER_01: More of a Sharon.
24:26
SPEAKER_00: Maybe she's more of a Sharon.
24:27
SPEAKER_00: Maybe she's more of a Sharon.
24:28
SPEAKER_01: Get that shit done, Sharon.
24:29
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
24:30
SPEAKER_01: Get shit done, Sharon.
24:31
SPEAKER_00: Get shit done, Sharon.
24:33
SPEAKER_00: That should be a t-shirt.
24:34
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
24:35
SPEAKER_00: Get shit done, Sharon.
24:37
SPEAKER_00: I don't give a shit, Sharon.
24:41
SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's the shit.
24:42
SPEAKER_00: Sharon, Sharon.
24:44
SPEAKER_01: Don't give a shit, Sharon.
24:45
SPEAKER_01: This is a new merch.
24:46
SPEAKER_01: That's probably a new merch line, honestly.
24:49
SPEAKER_01: We need that.
24:50
SPEAKER_01: That would be the pump.
24:52
SPEAKER_01: Oh.
24:54
SPEAKER_01: Probably one of ours.
24:55
SPEAKER_01: Probably so.
24:59
SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
25:00
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
25:01
SPEAKER_01: So you nailed it.
25:02
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
25:04
SPEAKER_00: So I get how many points do I get again per thing?
25:07
SPEAKER_01: You get one point per thing.
25:08
SPEAKER_01: Boom.
25:09
SPEAKER_01: So you're a one point.
25:10
SPEAKER_01: And because we have two things right now tonight.
25:14
SPEAKER_01: We only have two.
25:15
SPEAKER_01: You are sitting at 50% out of 100.
25:17
SPEAKER_01: So you're halfway there living on a print.
25:19
SPEAKER_00: I've already passed.
25:21
SPEAKER_00: Wait, is 50% passing?
25:23
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't remember.
25:23
SPEAKER_00: It's been a while.
25:24
SPEAKER_00: 60% is barely passed.
25:25
SPEAKER_00: It's been a while since I've been in school.
25:27
SPEAKER_00: But just to be clear, I've always gotten like 3.5 point GPA or higher.
25:35
SPEAKER_00: Okay, so trend number two.
25:36
SPEAKER_00: That's why I'm upset here.
25:37
SPEAKER_00: I need the other one.
25:38
SPEAKER_00: I feel like I need a better average.
25:40
SPEAKER_00: There's only two.
25:41
SPEAKER_01: I have a feeling you're gonna.
25:43
SPEAKER_01: Well, I don't know.
25:43
SPEAKER_01: This is kind of tricky.
25:45
SPEAKER_01: Okay, this one's called the I'm a survivor trend.
25:50
SPEAKER_01: This sounds a little depressing.
25:54
SPEAKER_00: I'm a survivor?
25:55
SPEAKER_01: Yes, the I am a survivor trend.
25:58
SPEAKER_01: Okay, this could go a lot of ways.
26:01
SPEAKER_01: I really honestly could.
26:03
SPEAKER_01: I'm very interested to hear your perspective.
26:06
SPEAKER_01: What's your most recent I'm a survivor moment for you?
26:11
SPEAKER_01: Like if you're gonna think about it, what's what would be your I'm a survivor moment without knowing what the trend is?
26:17
SPEAKER_01: I don't know that I should share those things.
26:19
SPEAKER_00: There's so many scopes that this could be upon.
26:23
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
26:23
SPEAKER_00: Um, let's go with okay.
26:26
SPEAKER_00: There's so many rages.
26:30
SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm a survivor.
26:32
SPEAKER_00: I feel like you can't really put that on a social post unless you really actually survived something that was like terrible, but also these days you can because the last one I did was like, you know, your worst horrors stories, and I went full blown eating alive and buried alive and all that shit.
26:50
SPEAKER_00: So you just spiraled.
26:52
SPEAKER_00: I'm thinking this is more like okay.
26:55
SPEAKER_00: Well, this weekend I spoke drink on a man's shoe.
27:01
SPEAKER_00: And I just panicked because I was embarrassed.
27:07
SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh shoot, sorry.
27:08
SPEAKER_00: But it's because Mofo that I knew, he came up and went, Rachel, and like bumped into me while I was having my full drink that I just got.
27:16
SPEAKER_00: That's his fault.
27:17
SPEAKER_00: That's what I said.
27:18
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
27:19
SPEAKER_00: But then, of course, because I've already had a few, it looked like I was like, oh, that was his fault.
27:24
SPEAKER_00: So it did not look good.
27:27
SPEAKER_00: And I like just looked down and went, oh shit, I'm so sorry.
27:30
SPEAKER_00: And I like, there's no napkins I can get.
27:33
SPEAKER_00: We're in a giant venue.
27:34
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
27:35
SPEAKER_00: It's not like I'd have to, it would take me 15 minutes to go across the way to get a paper towel to wipe his shoe down with.
27:41
SPEAKER_00: But that's the kind of person I am.
27:43
SPEAKER_00: Is I'm like, let me fix it.
27:44
SPEAKER_00: So I just start like going, Oh sorry, and like patting his like pant leg that barely got splattered, but it's really a shoe.
27:52
SPEAKER_00: But I'm not about to bend down in my dress and like wipe his shoe with my hand.
27:56
SPEAKER_00: That's silly.
27:58
SPEAKER_00: No, no, that's not cool.
28:00
SPEAKER_00: So I barely survived because his wife was like, Let's go.
28:06
SPEAKER_01: I was like, You are a survivor.
28:10
SPEAKER_00: My man was right next to me.
28:12
SPEAKER_00: My date was right next to me.
28:13
SPEAKER_00: He was like just like he was like, Oh, he was laughing.
28:16
SPEAKER_00: He was just like, oh well, squeeze and bump.
28:18
SPEAKER_00: He bumped into her and she did a stupid thing and she's funny.
28:27
SPEAKER_00: I was like, dude, I just spilled this on your friend's shoe.
28:30
SPEAKER_00: But no, he was he was totally cool about it.
28:32
SPEAKER_00: But I still feel like looking back, she was like, let's go.
28:38
SPEAKER_00: I looked like I was you think I purposely spilt this on him to fly with him.
28:43
SPEAKER_00: No, no, this is No, he was being a jackass and flailing his arms and bumping into people.
28:49
SPEAKER_00: No, it was the other dude that bumped into me.
28:51
SPEAKER_00: Well, coming to say hi to my date, and then yeah, it was a whole thing.
28:56
SPEAKER_00: But so I don't know, that could be a potential survived thing depending on the other woman thing, but I don't think that's the trend.
29:04
SPEAKER_00: So I think I just exposed my embarrassing story yet again there, but I just I think that gravity's the issue there.
29:14
SPEAKER_00: Let's see.
29:17
SPEAKER_02: Can I get a hint?
29:19
SPEAKER_01: No, don't give me a hint.
29:22
SPEAKER_01: No, because I think giving you a hint would give it away.
29:25
SPEAKER_00: It's like right on the brink.
29:27
SPEAKER_00: I'm so close.
29:28
SPEAKER_00: I barely survived.
29:29
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
29:30
SPEAKER_00: When I take my vitamins in the morning, sometimes I almost think I'm gonna die.
29:34
SPEAKER_00: Why?
29:34
SPEAKER_00: Or puke.
29:35
SPEAKER_00: Why?
29:36
SPEAKER_00: Because they get stuck in my throat, and I like can't deal with it.
29:43
SPEAKER_00: And I go, and then sometimes I puke them up in my hand half swallow.
29:48
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
29:49
SPEAKER_00: Not puke them up, but just spit them back out, and I go, oh god, are we gonna do this again?
29:53
SPEAKER_00: And I do because I want collagen in my body and I want it to be pretty.
29:57
SPEAKER_00: So I go, suck it up, bitch, and I throw it back in my face with a big bulb of water and I make myself do it.
30:06
SPEAKER_00: So that's the closest I think I've got.
30:09
SPEAKER_00: Or like if you think you're gonna die, I mean, I don't know.
30:12
SPEAKER_00: The only times I've thought I was actually gonna die, other than like serious situations, was like if I did something stupid and I felt shitty the next day, or if I was legit sick.
30:24
unknown: Yeah.
30:26
SPEAKER_00: Are you ready to hear what it is?
30:28
SPEAKER_00: Yes, please.
30:28
SPEAKER_00: So I stop embarrassing myself with these stories.
30:32
SPEAKER_01: And honestly, with the vitamins, I feel like you're very close.
30:36
SPEAKER_01: Great.
30:38
SPEAKER_01: That's good to hear.
30:40
SPEAKER_01: So the trend uses Reba McIntyre's I'm a survivor to celebrate doing the absolute bare minimum.
30:48
SPEAKER_01: So pressed record on the podcast today.
30:52
SPEAKER_01: I'm a survivor.
30:54
SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
30:55
SPEAKER_01: Um showed up to work today.
30:58
SPEAKER_01: Only hit only hit snooze once.
31:01
SPEAKER_01: I'm a survivor, swallowed all my pills twice, kind of.
31:07
SPEAKER_01: I'm a survivor.
31:09
SPEAKER_01: I get it now.
31:10
SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
31:11
SPEAKER_01: That's it, yeah.
31:12
SPEAKER_01: So tell me though, do you think that there is something freeing about tiny wins?
31:18
SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
31:19
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
31:19
SPEAKER_00: I'm the person that makes a list about all of the tiny things I need to do in a day just so I can cross them off and feel like I win.
31:26
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, same.
31:26
SPEAKER_01: I do too.
31:27
SPEAKER_01: Oh, I don't like my list right now.
31:29
SPEAKER_00: No, I also hold on it.
31:32
SPEAKER_00: I also always like to do tiny wins in a different kind of perspective.
31:37
SPEAKER_00: When I walked into the office today, I said, happy Monday to everybody.
31:41
SPEAKER_00: Great.
31:42
SPEAKER_00: And they go, No.
31:43
SPEAKER_00: And I go, see, that's not the energy I'm trying to bring.
31:46
SPEAKER_01: I love that you're trying to bring better energy, and they should appreciate that.
31:49
SPEAKER_01: If you did that at our office, they'd be like, Yao, we're on board.
31:53
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
31:53
SPEAKER_01: Because they, yeah.
31:55
SPEAKER_00: Well, they say it would be.
31:56
SPEAKER_00: Someone they still smile when they go, kinda.
32:00
SPEAKER_00: Or they go, I'm like, how long have you worked here again?
32:04
SPEAKER_00: So I can set my clock.
32:05
SPEAKER_00: What's going on?
32:08
SPEAKER_00: No.
32:10
SPEAKER_00: I'm just like, I think that it's all about the energy you bring.
32:13
SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
32:14
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
32:14
SPEAKER_00: I think setting those tiny wins.
32:16
SPEAKER_00: I'm a survivor every freaking day.
32:18
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
32:19
SPEAKER_00: Man, we all are.
32:20
SPEAKER_00: I'm a survivor.
32:21
SPEAKER_00: Wow, I'm a survivor.
32:22
SPEAKER_00: For this wine tonight.
32:23
SPEAKER_00: I'm a survivor.
32:24
SPEAKER_00: Didn't get punched in the face on Saturday.
32:27
SPEAKER_00: By the guy's wife that I spilled, the man I spilled drink on his shoe.
32:33
SPEAKER_01: Didn't cry until the very end of Nick's band concert.
32:37
SPEAKER_01: I'm a survivor.
32:38
SPEAKER_01: Boom.
32:38
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
32:39
SPEAKER_01: We're out there.
32:41
SPEAKER_00: Yours sounds way better than mine.
32:42
SPEAKER_01: No, yours is hilarious, honestly.
32:46
SPEAKER_01: Mine's parental.
32:47
SPEAKER_01: Yours is chaotic.
32:50
SPEAKER_00: It was a slosh, okay?
32:53
SPEAKER_00: And it wasn't my fault.
32:56
SPEAKER_00: No, we all know.
32:58
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we all know.
32:59
SPEAKER_00: No, they all should know.
33:01
SPEAKER_00: It's him, but I wouldn't.
33:02
SPEAKER_00: If I was live either, I'd be like, why are you trying to clean my man's shoe or pants, son?
33:09
SPEAKER_00: My dad's making a pimm.
33:13
SPEAKER_02: I didn't do anything.
33:16
SPEAKER_00: Jesus.
33:16
SPEAKER_00: But I looked back at that and I was like, I'm sorry.
33:18
SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
33:19
SPEAKER_01: Oh, I have one.
33:21
SPEAKER_01: Jesus.
33:22
SPEAKER_01: Because this weekend's about to be crazy.
33:24
SPEAKER_01: This I made it through Nick's graduation without crying.
33:30
SPEAKER_01: I'm a survivor.
33:31
SPEAKER_01: Let's see if that actually happens.
33:33
SPEAKER_01: So my son Nick is graduating on Wednesday.
33:35
SPEAKER_01: You can't say that yet.
33:37
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I can't.
33:38
SPEAKER_01: I mean, you are gonna be a survivor.
33:40
SPEAKER_00: You are gonna be a survivor.
33:41
SPEAKER_00: You haven't cried yet.
33:42
SPEAKER_01: Oh, I will cry.
33:43
SPEAKER_01: So I'm probably not gonna be a survivor.
33:45
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I can't.
33:46
SPEAKER_00: I won't cry.
33:47
SPEAKER_00: No, I'm like, I won't cry.
33:49
SPEAKER_00: I haven't cried yet.
33:51
SPEAKER_01: Actually, no, I have cried.
33:52
SPEAKER_01: I think we have already cried.
33:54
SPEAKER_01: You should, you will, you can, and yeah, and there it is.
33:58
SPEAKER_01: Oh, so there's that.
33:59
SPEAKER_01: That's gonna be fun.
34:01
SPEAKER_01: But then also, Nathan in his variety show tomorrow night, he is singing Hamilton's My Shot, but most of the parts, because apparently a lot of other people didn't like volunteer to sing a lot of the parts.
34:15
SPEAKER_01: Why not?
34:16
SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
34:17
SPEAKER_01: I I don't know the backstory.
34:18
SPEAKER_00: Nathan loves that, right?
34:19
SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
34:20
SPEAKER_01: Nathan's gonna fucking rock.
34:22
SPEAKER_01: Is he having like multi-personality disorder right now?
34:24
SPEAKER_01: Probably so.
34:27
SPEAKER_01: It's crazy because I've heard him, I've heard him sing much of Hamilton and he just Is he nailing it?
34:33
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he nails it every time.
34:35
SPEAKER_01: Like he's gonna kill it tomorrow night.

38:57
SPEAKER_00: Riverfest in Wichita.
38:58
SPEAKER_00: Riverfest and Wichita, that's what we're known for.
39:00
SPEAKER_00: That's what we do, that's what happens every fucking year.
39:04
SPEAKER_00: The only thing that maybe slowed it down was COVID, but that's fucking It did slow it down.
39:09
SPEAKER_00: Bye bye.
39:09
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like gone.
39:11
SPEAKER_00: No, we're doing it.
39:12
SPEAKER_00: And so I'm hoping everyone's gonna be coming up and showing up at their best because that's happened.
39:17
SPEAKER_00: So I kind of expect it to just be extra exciting because there were so many like blog years when that was going on.
39:25
SPEAKER_00: That like now I think it's gonna be so big, I think it's gonna be so fun.
39:29
SPEAKER_00: I also think we've grown so much more since then.
39:31
SPEAKER_00: Not just us, I mean us as a community, Riverfest, yeah, Wichita.
39:35
SPEAKER_00: There's so many more businesses, there's so many more opportunities for people.
39:39
SPEAKER_00: I think that it's gonna be grown.
39:40
SPEAKER_01: Even I'm I'm so excited.
39:43
SPEAKER_01: And you know, it's it's crazy for me when that when Eddie messaged me that morning, I read the message, and I it's crazy because back in the day, not too far back, you know, back in those years that we were talking about earlier in the episode, the 2018, 2019, 2020, I my company, I used to have a company called Depict This, it was a social media marketing agency that my friend Julie and I co-owned, and we were the official live streamers for Riverfest back in those days.
40:15
SPEAKER_01: And it was so funny.
40:17
SPEAKER_01: In 2020, I got a message from Terry Mott, who actually I got I got a phone call from her today that I need to return.
40:28
SPEAKER_01: Noted down.
40:29
SPEAKER_01: Every time Terry calls, something amazing is happening.
40:32
SPEAKER_01: Terry Mott, she messaged me.
40:33
SPEAKER_01: She's like, I don't know what we should do for 2020.
40:37
SPEAKER_01: What ended up happening was I did live stream, but the only thing that I live streamed that year was what was it?
40:46
SPEAKER_01: Admiral Windwagon reading a children's book up in the top of the schooner.
40:53
SPEAKER_01: That's still so sweet.
40:55
SPEAKER_01: It was crazy.
40:56
SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, but climbing up to the top of that ginormous schooner is crazy.
41:01
SPEAKER_01: Is this crazy that goes across the river?
41:04
SPEAKER_01: No, this is a per this is a parade book kind of situation.
41:08
SPEAKER_01: But it's like you have to climb this ladder to get up 15.
41:13
SPEAKER_01: It's nuts.
41:13
SPEAKER_01: This thing is tall, and I'm I have a height situation.
41:17
SPEAKER_01: And so yeah, I live streamed Admiral Windwagon reading a children's book, and then on top of the yeah, the schooner.
41:27
SPEAKER_01: Well, you did it.
41:27
SPEAKER_01: I did it, and it was amazing.
41:29
SPEAKER_01: And so, but like this is such a it's such a like full circle side type of situation.
41:35
SPEAKER_01: Crazy full circle, crazy full circle moment.
41:37
SPEAKER_01: That was yeah, that being asked to do this.
41:40
SPEAKER_01: I'm so excited.
41:41
SPEAKER_01: I love that we're out.
41:44
SPEAKER_01: Can you like picture this?
41:45

41:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, everyone's gonna be hearing our voices around the whole quad or whatever you want to call it.
41:58
SPEAKER_01: No, all over the riverfest.
41:59
SPEAKER_00: All over Riverfest.
42:01
SPEAKER_00: They're gonna hear our voices.
42:03
SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, guys.
42:04
SPEAKER_00: I hope you like my voice.
42:06
SPEAKER_00: It's it is what it is.

45:39
SPEAKER_00: We love you, Giovanna.
45:41
SPEAKER_00: So much.
45:41
SPEAKER_00: So, so much.
45:42
SPEAKER_00: We love and praise you.
45:44
SPEAKER_00: We will feed you all the things we can, all the all of the energy because you guys are amazing.
45:51
SPEAKER_00: Honestly, this is just the best network, I think, that we are creating.
45:55
SPEAKER_00: I said, I'll say it again.
45:57
SPEAKER_01: The best network.
45:59
SPEAKER_01: And it's probably gonna be basically the best day, which leads me to our hits different segment.
46:08
SPEAKER_01: Should we have started with this sad or no?
46:10
SPEAKER_01: You said it was gonna be sad.
46:12
SPEAKER_01: It's not well, it's very emotional.
46:14
SPEAKER_01: So today's Hits Different song is The Best Day by Taylor Swift from the album Fearless.
46:22
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
46:22
SPEAKER_01: Rachel, you listened to this song for the first time ever today.
46:26
SPEAKER_01: Correct.
46:27
SPEAKER_01: Alright, so what's your first reaction when you listen to this song?
46:32
SPEAKER_00: Okay, I want everyone to know at first.
46:37
SPEAKER_00: Just gonna come clean with this.
46:39
SPEAKER_00: I don't know anything about her, her experiences, her anything, or any reason for making any song.
46:45
SPEAKER_00: So first when I hear the song, when I hear any Taylor Swift song, it sounds like it should be a romantic song, right?
46:51
SPEAKER_00: So I was like, oh, she had a childhood romance, and then I was like, who the fuck is letting her go hang out with boys at 13?
47:02
SPEAKER_00: When she said something about driving in a car with a guy at 13, and then I was like, and then she started talking about her dad.
47:09
SPEAKER_00: And then I was like, oh shit.
47:12
SPEAKER_00: Okay, wait, switch gears.
47:16
SPEAKER_00: I think it captures a lot of variety of feelings because I was like, I was like, it captures that childhood use, and you can get that even from the tone she chose and like the notes she chose and everything.
47:30
SPEAKER_00: It just like sends you back kind of or me anyways, to childhood kind of memories, even without the words, just like the music alone.
47:39
SPEAKER_00: Kind of I felt like this is just feels like youthful and kind of whimsy, and then it went into more serious, and then it was talking about her dad.
47:49
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, did her dad die?
47:50
SPEAKER_00: No, okay, he's still alive, but she was like, it's it kind of sounds like it ended up being like a thank you to her dad, and I thought that was really sweet, but I have no idea, so I feel like every time I do these reviews, I feel so blindsided, just like I do with the trends topic that we do.
48:10
SPEAKER_00: I I'm blindsided, but that's the beauty of it, I suppose.
48:13
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I really did get I did start getting a little emotional about it whenever she started talking about how sweet her dad was, because I think I'm a I think like I love both my birds so fucking much, and like we both had our different times that we bonded with each other differently, but honestly, it's just like different versions of me and my mom that bond with each other, and different versions of me and my dad bond with each other.
48:41
SPEAKER_00: So when I heard this though, I was like, aww, it made me feel kind of a sweetie kind of way about me and my dad, because she talks about her dad a lot at the end of it.
48:51
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I was like, was this like a Father's Day song she wrote to her dad?
48:57
SPEAKER_00: Because like this is what I need to do.
48:59
SPEAKER_00: If I could sing, I would do this for my dad for Father's Day.
49:02
SPEAKER_00: But I don't I don't have that ability.
49:07
SPEAKER_00: I don't really have a great way to describe it.
49:09
SPEAKER_00: I mean, it didn't make me cry.
49:11
SPEAKER_00: It didn't, or it did?
49:13
SPEAKER_00: It did not, it did not make you cry.
49:14
SPEAKER_00: No, but I don't get sad that often unless I'm already sad.
49:19
SPEAKER_01: What about like emotional?
49:21
SPEAKER_01: It's not just sad, but like emotional or nostalgic.
49:24
SPEAKER_00: I felt nostalgic and emotional when she started talking about driving in the car, and then I realized it was with her dad.
49:31
SPEAKER_00: Well, at first, because you know I was skeptical.
49:33
SPEAKER_00: I was like, who the fuck's let who who the fuck's parents letting you hang out with the guy at 13?
49:38
SPEAKER_00: Because she talks about driving the car with him at 13, and I was like, excuse you.
49:44
SPEAKER_00: Who the hell are you in a car with at 13?
49:47
SPEAKER_00: Young lady, yeah.
49:49
SPEAKER_00: So that's where my head was at at first.
49:51
SPEAKER_00: So I guess I'm gonna be a helicopter parent if I ever am one.
49:57
SPEAKER_00: So that's so I think that the switch maybe didn't happen for me so soon because I don't know what the hell's going on with her story here.
50:05
SPEAKER_00: But but as I realized she was talking about like looking at her dad and having memories with him, it did, it did remind me of times like I specifically remember this memory all the time, and I might remember it differently because you know memories change, but in my head, I remember these times in the car with my dad all the time listening to music, usually like I don't know, probably like 80s rock or something.
50:29
SPEAKER_00: And I remember specifically this time, it was such a fun memory, and it did flash in my head while I was listening to the song.
50:36
SPEAKER_00: That was so we always called this on the family farm up the hill, and it wasn't a really a hill, it was just away from the house.
50:44
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, the homestead, but it was like not even a hill.
50:48
SPEAKER_00: And um, and I remember I had three male cousins, they're all older boys, and my brother, and I remember my dad driving and it the Ford Explorer and me in the car with him because I was the girl, and all the and he I don't remember what happened or whatever or transpired, but I don't know if it was his shirt off or all the boys' shirt off, and him waving his shirt around or something and blasting music and driving up the hill, and all of the cousins and my brother like running and trying to jump into the explorer, which I later drove when I was 16, 17.
51:24
SPEAKER_00: But like he was driving up the hill, and they were all running and trying to jump into it, and he was like, ha ha ha, and like running away from them, waving his shirt around.
51:32
SPEAKER_00: I remember that in my head.
51:33
SPEAKER_00: I don't know if that's a real memory or dream, but like I remember that, and that's what flashed in my head when I heard that song and her talking about driving in the car with her dad.
51:45
SPEAKER_00: So I thought that was really sweet and nostalgic.
51:47
SPEAKER_00: So you're not wrong.
51:48
SPEAKER_00: I did get nostalgic vibes from it a lot.
51:51
SPEAKER_00: So it had feel-good moments to it for sure.
51:53
SPEAKER_00: For sure.
51:54
SPEAKER_01: So, okay, you're not you're basically dead on.
51:58
SPEAKER_01: This is a song that she wrote to her mother, written in secret, and then she eventually played for her as a surprise.
52:05
SPEAKER_01: But I feel like as a song, you know, this could be a scene as either to dad or to mom.
52:11
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I had never heard this song until I was well already engaged to Tim.
52:16
SPEAKER_01: And we started doing, you know, all of the things, like all of the wedding, all the all the wedding things.
52:22
SPEAKER_01: Like the day that we went to pick out my wedding dress.
52:26
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
52:26
SPEAKER_01: And my mom came, and we didn't do any of this stuff in my first marriage.
52:31
SPEAKER_01: I with my ex, we went to Vegas and got married, and no, and we didn't invite any family, just each of us invited a friend, and that was it.
52:40
SPEAKER_01: So when we got married this last time, it was different.
52:43
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, with Tim, it was different.
52:45
SPEAKER_01: We were like, he we both wanted to do the thing, the whole thing.
52:48
SPEAKER_01: And so invited the bridesmaids and everyone to like it, it was it was kind of a recurring thing.
52:56
SPEAKER_01: Like, I would think of this song.
52:57
SPEAKER_01: Like, my mom and I have not ever been like really close, but in some regards, but I mean, yeah, like I feel like there we go through our times.
53:09
SPEAKER_01: Um during the wedding lead up, we were I feel like we were probably closest to she was very supportive, she was so supportive and so involved and wonderful the entire time.
53:23
SPEAKER_01: And we have some beautiful photos of and so this song was kind of to me in the background of like every time this song reminds me of of that time in my life.
53:34
SPEAKER_01: That's nice, getting ready and like I truly had the best day with you, mom, which is kind of crazy because now we're coming off of Mother's Day, you know, it'll tie in.
53:46
SPEAKER_01: And then also like the whole thing with like the boys going through their big things right now, too.
53:51
SPEAKER_01: Like it adds just the layers to this.
53:53
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, another thing.
53:54
SPEAKER_00: When I listened to it, I was like, Jen's feeling this right now.
53:58
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so hard.
53:59
SPEAKER_00: These are her boys going off.
54:00
SPEAKER_00: Because it does feel you were right with the word nostalgic.
54:03
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
54:04
SPEAKER_00: Because it does feel super nostalgic.
54:06
SPEAKER_00: And even like honestly, that was probably one of my first two thoughts was you and your boys.
54:12
SPEAKER_00: When you were talking, when I first like heard her lines come through, I was like, when he she was talking about you running through, like running through the park or whatever together.
54:21
SPEAKER_00: I see your legs in front of me.
54:22
SPEAKER_00: I see elves.
54:23
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was like, Jen's feeling this.
54:26
SPEAKER_00: That's why she's like, get your tears into I'm like, I should get them ready for you.
54:31
SPEAKER_00: I need to know when she says that, I need to get them prepared for you.
54:36
SPEAKER_00: That is so true.
54:37
SPEAKER_00: I can't.
54:38
SPEAKER_00: So here's the thing.
54:39
SPEAKER_00: You never know how it's gonna hit.
54:41
SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
54:41
SPEAKER_00: I felt it too, though.
54:43
SPEAKER_01: I I can't make it through this song without crying.
54:45
SPEAKER_01: And it doesn't matter.
54:46
SPEAKER_01: It doesn't matter if I'm thinking about the lead up to my wedding with and those moments with my mom, or thinking about like the the milestones that both of my boys are going through, especially this week.
54:57
SPEAKER_01: Right now, this song I I will skip this song anytime that it comes on right now.
55:04
SPEAKER_01: But I will also add it to any Instagram post, you know, and then I'll go back and watch it and cry in personal in my personal bubble, not in the car on the way to work.
55:14
SPEAKER_01: No, I get that though.
55:16
SPEAKER_00: And that's I think why I thought about like I swear to gosh, I did.
55:20
SPEAKER_00: Like the second thought was you and your boys.
55:22
SPEAKER_00: Whenever I heard the feet running thing, I was like, I was like, she's thinking about her little boys growing up.
55:28
SPEAKER_00: And I was like, oh my god, I'm now thinking about them growing up.
55:32
SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, stop it.
55:35
SPEAKER_01: Cheers to the graduate.
55:37
SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, 18 years of this.
55:38
SPEAKER_01: Cheers, boys.
55:39
SPEAKER_01: Nothing will ever listen to this.
55:41
SPEAKER_01: No, they won't.
55:43
SPEAKER_01: Better for them.
55:44
SPEAKER_01: Tag them in this clip.
55:47
SPEAKER_00: You little filling.
55:48
SPEAKER_01: Now, here's the funny thing about being good.
55:50
SPEAKER_01: You know how I'm a social media person.
55:52
SPEAKER_01: They're anti-social, so they're not on any social platforms.
55:57
SPEAKER_01: But they're so good.
55:58
SPEAKER_01: They're so good.
55:59
SPEAKER_01: They're so wonderful.
56:01
SPEAKER_01: They're so wonderful.
56:02
SPEAKER_01: So yeah, that's yeah, I feel like the song was on topic for today.
56:07
SPEAKER_00: No, I agreed.
56:08
SPEAKER_00: When I started listening to it, I was like, I I was kind of like F this gen lady for doing this to us.
56:15
SPEAKER_00: Like, I never strategic.
56:17
SPEAKER_00: No, I wasn't like F, but you know what I mean.
56:19
SPEAKER_00: I was like, I was like, I know why she did that.
56:21
SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
56:22
SPEAKER_01: I was like, I almost like chat GPT'd, what would be a perfect song for this episode?
56:27
SPEAKER_00: And I was like, no, but I love that you didn't mean because that led me genuinely think, honestly, and I should have brought that up.
56:35
SPEAKER_00: I should have brought that up, but I was driving when I listened to it.
56:38
SPEAKER_00: My car has the best sound system for me to really get in the vibes of a music or like a new song.
56:43
SPEAKER_00: So that's where I listened to it was in my car.
56:45
SPEAKER_00: Perfect.
56:46
SPEAKER_00: And so, but yeah, you were one of the first things I thought of when I thought of the little boy likes, and I was like, and then I was like, Jen did this.
56:54
SPEAKER_01: Those little babies, those little babies.
56:57
SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
56:58
SPEAKER_01: I saw those tiny little photos.
57:03
SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
57:03
SPEAKER_01: The amount of photos that I've been going through over the last, you know, because we have as gradual.
57:09
SPEAKER_01: They were like half my height when you met them.
57:12
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they were less than half my height.
57:15
SPEAKER_01: They were like two feet tall.
57:16
SPEAKER_01: They're like the size of my dog.
57:19
SPEAKER_01: And they're like huge.
57:22
SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
57:23
SPEAKER_01: What a gushing episode we're having right now.
57:27
SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
57:28
SPEAKER_00: I can't imagine what you're going through, but I can at the same time a little bit.
57:33
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
57:34
SPEAKER_00: I just wanted to say that.
57:35
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you nailed it with a nostalgic word.
57:37
SPEAKER_00: You're right.
57:38
SPEAKER_00: Because I think that's the beautiful thing about art, is exactly you feel it for everything.
57:42
SPEAKER_00: You feel it for your mom, you feel it for your dad, you feel it for your boys.
57:45
SPEAKER_00: And I think I feel the same thing because at first, that's the beautiful thing about the way she writes.
57:51
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
57:52
SPEAKER_00: I'd like to say that.
57:54
SPEAKER_00: What I've noticed over it is that even the songs that I don't necessarily relate to exactly what I don't I don't do research into her, so I don't care.
58:04
SPEAKER_00: I don't need to know.
58:05
SPEAKER_00: I just need to know how it makes me feel.
58:06
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
58:07
SPEAKER_00: And that's that's one thing.
58:08
SPEAKER_00: Like even I hate to go into like workings, but like even with like any sort of marketing or anything or any sort of way that you encounter a stranger in the real world, they don't care what you say to them.
58:21
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they just care how you make them feel.
58:24
SPEAKER_00: Yes, that is so true.
58:27
SPEAKER_00: And so there's so much truth to that.
58:30
SPEAKER_00: That's the most important part, and that's what I appreciate about artists is she's appealing to somebody that feels three different ways at the same time.
58:39
SPEAKER_00: So true.
58:40
SPEAKER_00: And that's very, very cool.
58:42
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
58:43
SPEAKER_00: It's not that easy to do for everybody.
58:46
SPEAKER_01: So I think you nailed you nailed it today.
58:48
SPEAKER_01: Like you blew everything out of the water today.
58:53
SPEAKER_01: No, you nailed it.
58:55
SPEAKER_01: You nailed it.
58:56
