Google just paid $700 million to settle antitrust claims from 40 states, including Arizona’s Kris Mayes, over its abusive control of the Android app store. The deal targets Google’s forced use of its payment system, which inflated prices for users and stifled competition. Most consumers who bought apps on Google Play between August 2016 and September 2023 will get automatic refunds via PayPal or Venmo.
