Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Offices, a show covering the Miami Gulf, the NFL, pop culture, drinking culture and of course.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: I show you how you're your host, Alphar Tia, in myself.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_02]: Now we're on, this is the Off-Azure with Married Brave and myself, Alphar Tiaga.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_02]: This is the first time you see us on YouTube, which is...
- 0:27[SPEAKER_02]: I guess how many seasons have we done this show already?
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: This is season three, the beginning of season three.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, this is season three.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_02]: So the first time we're on YouTube, which is a new experience.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: But it's pretty cool.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_02]: You get to see us, you get to see us for lack of a better word talk shit, about things that are going on in the off season.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_02]: It looks like we're gonna have an abbreviated off season for,
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: the floor to panthers.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't look.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: No, no.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you saw that game last night, but yeah, I was watching until they went down 3141 and then I was like, all right, I'm out.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_02]: even Paul Maurice looked resigned to it uh... he just he came out and and he told that down panger doing like the his side line or i don't know what they call that uh... rink side reporting and you know basically Paul Maurice basically said the only i playing well is but broski so might as well have him skate the the puck up the ice and then he just screams at the ice hey bob skate skate the puck up the ice
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, it's 200, too many minutes lost all season long, and it looks like they're just not going to get it done.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's, and we're talking about what's left, where we're at what 22 games left.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and their 8 points, 8 points out.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's, I don't think it's going to happen for them.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, it's tough, right?
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's tough to win a championship in any sport, but to win three in a row, that's, you know, that's reserved for some rarefied air there, you know.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, they won back to back.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's an accomplishment in and of itself.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: Every Florida Panthers fan should be
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: proud of the team for doing that.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: And they just kind of ran out of steam after playing as many games as they've played over the last two seasons making it to the Stanley Cup finals each of the past two seasons winning the Stanley Cup championship the last two seasons.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's just tough to do they ran out of gas and ran out of steam and it is what it is they'll be back again to to try again next year.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, this is something that, you know, it tends to happen to teams that go on these long prolonged runs.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: And you gotta remember, it's not just two back-to-back seasons.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: They went to three straight Stanley Cup Finals.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, you're right.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_02]: So we're talking about three prolonged seasons of going deep into the playoffs.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_02]: That takes a toll on the body.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, I don't think it's a...
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's a secret that they're just too injured to do anything with it this season.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: Never mind that they're missing their captain and I've missed their captain all season longs and Alexander Barcroft, but they've taken injuries everywhere else.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: Every once in a while, when you see that they might be begin to get healthy, then Seth Jones goes out for two weeks, that means for two months.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: And Matthew Cachuk was out for half a season, Brad Marchant missed a month.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's just too much and it doesn't look like they're going to overcome it.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: At least not this year.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's here, but there's always next year, and you know,
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: It still feels like we're kind of winners though, right with USA hockey winning winning the gold in both women's and men's in the Olympic.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: So in a way, it's a three-peat for us at least, right?
- 3:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_02]: We got that.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: We got that going for us, like like people like to say.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_02]: So moving on to the dolphins.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of news, but at first of all, a lot of news in the NFL.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: What did you make of that McDuffee trait, Kansas City?
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: moving on, they tend to do this, like they owe them $13 million on his last year of his contract.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: So I mean, he's up for a contract.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: Kansas City is one of these teams.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: Like, look, LaJeria Sneed came to the end of his contract.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: Now, Trent McDuffie came to the end of his contract.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: Tyler Kill came to the end of his contract.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: And Kansas City seems to have a philosophy where it's not that they're not going to pay.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: players, because it doesn't seem like they want to pay anybody.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_02]: They don't want to pay any of their own players, because German stuff is 25 years old.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like they kind of had the reputation of being kind of cheap.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I've told this, I told people this before.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: If they didn't have Patrick Bahomes, this would be one of the most desolate and
- 4:53[SPEAKER_02]: weird and off outposts in all of the NFL, just like we would be.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: But of course Cincinnati and Kansas City get rewarded or blessed with Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes and our quarterback loses his brains in week two of the 2020-24 season.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: So if it were for those two quarterbacks,
- 5:22[SPEAKER_02]: like one of some of the worst franchises in all of sports.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: Prior to Patrick Mahomes, I mean, they had Alex Smith, who was decent, right?
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he wasn't terrible, wasn't fantastic.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: But before that, you're talking about guys like Steve Bono and Elvis Gerbach, you know what I mean?
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like those are, those are chiefs legends of old.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: You have to go all the way back to Lynn Dawson to find a phenomenal quarterback for the chiefs, not named Joe Montana, who's spent, you know,
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: later part of his career there.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: But Patrick Mahomes, he's kind of the band aid that makes everything okay in Kansas City.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, speaking of not paying people, that's part of the reason why you can't pay people because you got to pay Patrick Mahomes every single year.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: You got to pay for the greatness that is Patrick Mahomes.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: I was actually kind of surprised by that trade.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think Trent McDelphi is one of the better young cornerbacks in the NFL right now.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: I do understand he's up for a new deal and that's part of the reason why he wanted out of Kansas City and part of the reason why they were willing to let him go.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: And the chiefs did a pretty good job in the return.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember the exact draft picks they got, but they got, they got a first this year, plus future, what third.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: fifth six somewhere in there, like, they got a late first 29th overall.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: They got a four and a six is what they got.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's a pretty good hall.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty good hall, but now you now you got to find a corner back, right?
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: They got rid of a young talented cornerback and got enough draft compensation that now that they can go find a young talented cornerback, you know what I'm saying?
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, now what they gotta do, you know what they need really need to do, they need to find a Trent McDuffie like cornerback.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: Right, yeah.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but, you know what, their loss could be, you know, not in 2026, but it could be the Dolphins game if we can get our own ship figured out in South Florida and figure out how to rebuild this franchise, which it seems like we're well on our way.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_02]: So you like the trade for the ramps,
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like the trade for the Rams and the Rams always seem to be at the forefront of those types of things, right, you know, they know when to acquire players when to get rid of players, they know when to trade first round picks and use first round picks, although I'm pretty sure the only first round pick they've used in like the last 10 years was on Jared verse.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: Hell, they nailed that one.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: That was a hell of a first Trump pick.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: So now they're using this year's first round pick on Trent McDuffie.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: And we already know that he is a known commodity in the NFL.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: One of the better young cornerbacks, one of the best young cornerbacks.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: So they'll be just fine in Los Angeles.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_02]: And unfortunate news, one of our rivals on the in the AFC East, weakened themselves.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_02]: But I think they weakened themselves correctly when they cut the fund digs.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: It's not even about getting rid of a guy a year earlier a year late.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's about getting rid of a guy who, you kind of got lucky with last year.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_02]: Because the guy's always been a mouth-content everywhere he's gone.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_02]: We were ticking down to the point where he was going to become a mouth-content here.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_02]: So that they traded them or they just got rid of them for essentially cat space.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's a pretty smart move for the New England Patriots.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they got lucky that Stefan digs his his problems this season weren't on the field.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: They weren't in the locker room.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't a problem for the Patriots.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: All his shit was off field with Cardi B.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: That whole deal with the Super Bowl and and they
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: they broke up that night and then she went on social media and trashed him and that was kind of fun to watch.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: In addition to watching them lose the Super Bowl, which has always been my favorite time as a football watching fan.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: We don't get these experiences as dolphins fans.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: We don't get to watch our team in the Super Bowl.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: So my favorite
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: football games are the ones where the Patriots lose the Super Bowl when they lost their perfect season to Eli Manning in the New York Giants to the to the helmet catch when they lost to Nick Folls and the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: That was phenomenal.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: Then of course this past season losing to the Seattle Seahawks and that fantastic defense.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: That was a fun watch.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people didn't enjoy the Super Bowl.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: I had a blast anytime you watch the Patriots lose the Super Bowl.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's a good day in my book.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: So no stuff on digs in New England anymore makes you wonder they got something up there sleeve in regards to wide receivers.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe an AJ Brown trade for the Patriots in the near future.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: What are your thoughts on that.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: Alph.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: That would be scary.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_02]: Like if they're actually preparing the skids to bring in a high-end wild receiver one in his prime or somewhere inside of his prime, then that would be kind of scary.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_02]: Kind of scary going forward.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: You mentioned Cardi B.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_02]: Do you cringe as much as I do when the WWE brings in that Cardi B or Travis Scott or somebody like that?
- 10:31[SPEAKER_02]: because look, they're a multi-billion dollar corporation.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm pretty sure that they have really good polling that tells them, oh, these people are popular, you know?
- 10:44[SPEAKER_02]: The thing is, I know a lot of people that are of the age or are in the demographic, like, I hate to, how old are you, Marick?
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: By the way,
- 10:54[SPEAKER_02]: 39.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'll be 40 in just a few months.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so you're smack dab inside of the demographic that they like I'm almost running out.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, because the demographic is 25 to 36 like that's the demographic like that's the demographic that buy stuff
- 11:11[SPEAKER_02]: which is what the WWE wants.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_02]: Like, everybody's all that WWE's catering to kids.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: No, they're not catering to kids.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_02]: They're catering to the kids.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_02]: Parents.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, absolutely.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, because the kids have no money.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_02]: Kids have no money.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: And usually people up to the age of 25 don't have any money.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_02]: and people after the age of 56 are saving or near retirement, so they also don't have any money.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_02]: So 25-56 is that consumer era.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_02]: I'm pretty sure that they have pretty good polling.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: That tells them that Cardi B and Travis Scott are popular.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_02]: But I know a lot of people in this demographic, and they don't consider Cardi B all that popular.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_02]: But
- 11:48[SPEAKER_02]: man, WWE keeps bringing them back out.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_02]: Do you have any insight on this?
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: Or I think it's their way of just trying to reach more people, right?
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they, they're not necessarily trying to entertain the fans.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: They already have when they do things like that, when they bring in a cartybee or a Travis Scott.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: they're trying to bring new eyeballs to the product, right?
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: So they want to bring somebody who's not already a wrestling fan and get them to watch the program because there's a chance they'll get to see their favorite musical artists, they'll get to see Cardi B on the TV.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a Cardi B fan, I don't listen to Cardi B's music, I don't listen to Travis Scott's music, but my kids,
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: when when they saw Travis Scott on WWE TV, they they flipped out.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: They like Travis Scott from Fortnite.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think the the video game Fortnite.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's all over that thing.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: So they were really excited when they saw Travis Scott.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I think in a way it's it's a way to kind of groom the kids and and make them lifelong WWE fans.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: You hook them by bringing in a celebrity that they care about
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: that they fall in love with the product and you're able to keep them around as a fan for for many decades to come.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, never forget that Cardi B had admitted to like drugging essentially Johns at her stroke club so she could adopt them later.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, let's have her come out and be the host of summer.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she's going to be the voice of the new generation.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: She's going to be
- 13:23[SPEAKER_02]: Alright, on the way out here, let's talk a little dolphins.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: We're coming at the end of the two-a-era.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_02]: But we're not coming to the end of the two-a-error without doing some odd shit.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_02]: And yesterday, yesterday, I had you on toward the end of Q&A live, but I don't know if you're aware of this, but as the show was rendering, it wiped it off the server.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: So I turned to leave it like Dan Housing.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's deleted and gone forever.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_02]: So I had to re-record the second half of the show yesterday, and that's up on our feet, so you could check that out.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: But we talked a little bit about this.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_02]: It was too long ago, I was too long ago by a lowest birthday this past week.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_02]: And then I would often Twitter account did not wish him a happy birthday.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_02]: I understand he's gonna be gone.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_02]: I understand he's not gonna be here very soon.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: but stop doing odd shit, Miami Dolphins.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you already know silettes.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_02]: You always do something weird on the way out with all these people.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_02]: And if you don't, if you don't do something weird, usually you know what happens, you start planting stories.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: Once the guy is gone, we start learning, oh, you know what?
- 14:27[SPEAKER_02]: He was secretly an axmerder, you know?
- 14:31[SPEAKER_02]: or you know, or you know, he was a guy or the start whispering.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_02]: He was a communist, you know, or and and I absolutely despise this because if you don't think other players are watching this saying, oh, so as soon as they get rid of you, they just badmouth you to the media, you know, I just wish the dolphins are just to stop doing odd shit.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_02]: They should have just said happy birthday to a tongue of Aloha and just left it there.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're bad really worried about it's that they did the worst thing possible, which is not to say anything at all and just let it in a later on Twitter for two days
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're really worried about what people are going to say about it, you can just disable the comments, just don't allow people to make comments on your post, but everybody knows right we all know to a tongue out by lower is not going to be a member of the Miami Dolphins in 2026 no matter what John Eric Sullivan comes out and says when he says all options are on the table.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: that options on the table, but it's like teetering on the edge, like a game of paper football or something like that.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's holding on by a little millimeter there.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: Two a song by Lowe is not going to be a member of the Miami Dolphins.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: Whether that's the right decision or not.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a part of me that really does think, if you're going to pay this dude.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, then you might as well keep him on the roster, right?
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: And that doesn't mean the S to be your starting quarterback.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: He can be a backup.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: We've known to it to be mostly pretty cool with things like that, right?
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: There was the the sunglasses gate where he was wearing sunglasses on the sidelines.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know, when he was not allowed to play because he had the hip stinger or whatever it was at the end of the 20, 24 season, obviously he gets benched last year.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: All signs pointed to him being a pretty good teammate, and somebody who helped Quinn yours out, even when he was bench from the final three games last season.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're going to be paying for him, whether he's here or not, then if you strike out on a Malik Willis, I don't really see the problem in keeping to a jungle by low up.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: But it's a new regime, new GM, new head coach, they want to fresh start, they want their
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, man, just wish I'm a happy birthday and you can avoid all of this controversy.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: I myself, I wrote an article almost a kind of tongue-in-cheek kind of silly type, uh, facetious article on, uh, the website that that I work for, the finsightard.com.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: And...
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: the comments blew up people cared about this people fans cared about this so we can think it's silly all we want but people do actually care about this and they thought it was kind of a shitty move from dolphins not to acknowledge a quarterback who's really given you a lot over the last few seasons you know it's not like he was a scrub I saw a post
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: from some aggregate account that doesn't really matter on X the other day, that said two of was the number one bust in the history of the NFL draft.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_02]: I saw that that was a that was a fake post that somebody somebody decided to take the actual list and they just superimposed to a on top of all.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: And they and they got a ton of engagement over it.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: And that's exactly what they were looking for.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously to a tongue of Iloa was not the savior of the Miami Dolphins that we were all hoping he would be, right?
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: But he gave us a lot to cheer for during the time that he was the team starting quarterback.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: He led the league in passing yards.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: He led the league in quarterback rating.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_01]: He led the league in completion percentage.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: He was not a bad quarterback for the Miami Dolphins, you know, for the first
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: four years of his tenure it last year the wheels kind of fell off the injuries caught up to him whether the concussion issues caught up to him will never know but he just wasn't the same player last year as he was prior to that but I'll never forget his his 2023 season that was a phenomenal year 2022 was pretty damn good too you know at one point he was
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: not only in the MVP conversation, but I remember him leading the MVP conversation at one point.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: So to call to a bust is disingenuous.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, for me, I'll always be thankful for the memory, thankful for those couple of seasons where it really felt like the dolphins were going to be able to do something, come play off time, but then
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: as it always seems to happen in Miami, in South Florida that what is it the question?
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: Is that, is that, how you say it?
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, the cursed, reared its ugly head and the dolphins got injured late season and obviously bowed out in the wildcard round.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: Both years they made the playoffs under Mike Big Daniel and here we are trying to look towards the future.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully after a rough, which we all expect
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: The team can draft a quarterback of the future unless they land a Malik Willis and he knocks it out the park and and the team will be on its way to rebuilding once again And maybe this will be the time that it actually works out
- 19:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, all right, we're going to go to break the first, let me tell you about only fence.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: You could go on only fence.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: That's our discord.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_02]: You got to go to discord.gg forward slash only fence and become a member there for 499 a month all access to it on a desktop that's discord.gg forward slash only fence and now for the rest of our sponsors and we're back.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_02]: All right, we're going to talk a little little wrestling.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: Real quick, big news in Dolphins land just across the timeline.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: We have re-signed Cameron Good.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_02]: So edge, so edge is essentially solved right here.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is the type of, this is the type of discount store that the Dolphins are going to be shopping in.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you see these rumors over the last couple of days, people talking about the Dolphins being in on Isaiah likely.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: likely not know that they're not going to sign they don't have that kind of money right they may be able to squeeze a malique willus under the cap right with some restructures and different things but if you're if you're wanting much more beyond that it that's fantasy land it's not happening yeah it's not happening it's just not happening
- 20:54[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Eliminator Chamber came and went.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was a pretty good show and I told you I didn't like these, these gimmick matches, but for, you know, for something that I did not expect to enjoy, I actually enjoyed it.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_02]: I was watching her on an iPad because I was in a hotel room as you could tell.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just back, I'm fresh from... Spring training as you can tell.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_02]: Ah, what a, what a blast.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: So that was a lot of fun.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: So I was watching it on an iPad.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was an enjoyable.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_02]: So I really like, look, I hate matches that I know the, the, you know, the result of like there was no chance in hell that seeing punk was going to lose that match to Finn baller.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, I thought it was an enjoyable match.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was a good match.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's two pros and that's another thing we talked about yesterday on the lost episode of the off the off season, which was just a tag on to the Q&A live show, which was that they keep building Finn Balor as $199 pounds and I don't know why they do that because it just makes some, just build, you can't build them as $200 in two pounds and makes them sound bigger.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_02]: you know.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: That was a great match.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was a great show overall.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_02]: Your thoughts on the show overall.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was a good show.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: It was a fine wrestling show.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't my favorite, you know, PLE or paperview ever.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't it wasn't my least favorite.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't a bad show.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: It was a show that happened.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: I agree with you.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: I thought the standout match on that card was
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: throughout his career, right?
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a big fan of his work in Japan when he was wrestling under the name Prince Devit.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's a fantastic worker.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: He hasn't been able to showcase that over the last few years in WWE, but you put him in there with kind of a rushed or hurried program with CM Punk, just trying to fill some time between now and WrestleMania, and I thought it went well.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: I thought the match was really good.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: My favorite of the night.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it started slow, but that's not something that bothers me.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a big fan of the storytelling aspect of professional wrestling.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_01]: So they were just kind of laying the groundwork, right?
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: laying the groundwork for what the rest of that match was going to look like.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: I thought by the end of it, they were really tearing the house down there.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: I thought they they kicked it into high gear and it ended up being
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, kind of a barn burner for me.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: So as a big fan of that one, um, the elimination chamber matches.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_01]: They were, they were, they were great, um, a dialet back a little bit.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: They were good.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: They weren't great.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: They were my, um, they were, they were entertaining to watch, right?
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: Not the best elimination chamber matches I've ever watched.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: You got good results.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_02]: You got good results, I thought.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: I thought, uh, at least for my perspective that the, the women's elimination chamber
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: I thought they, they were kind of beat the shit out of each other if you ask me those girls were going going pretty hardcore in there.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: So I thought that was a pretty good match.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a big fan of Randy Orton winning the men's match.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: Him and I have recently kind of connected and become buds.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: His steps on is going to be a member of an upcoming Black and Brave Wrestling class here in Depp and Port Iowa, a wrestling school that I run.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: with Seth Rollins for those who are not in the know, but Randy Orton steps on it's gonna come to our school, maybe he'll come up and join us for a few days of training.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: But was happy to see Randy get the win and now he'll get his spotlight at WrestleMania.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: And we're what, you know, a month and a half from WrestleMania at this point, we're getting to the big one here pretty soon.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_02]: What did you make of the finish of the men's elimination chamber where they played on the trope that Cody Rhodes is just another trusting fool, you know, like he's always going to fall for it in a match.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: Do you like it or you don't, it's it's part of his character at this point, right?
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: And if it's a tool that you're going to use later on down the line, maybe for a heel turn at some point, I think it's a great way to do it, but we're going to need to pay off at some point so that your baby face.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: really one of your top baby faces if not your number one baby face.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: So he doesn't look like a dope you know what I mean times in time to change you can't you can't keep making your baby face look like a gullible you know goodie two shoes you know what I mean eventually he's going to have to get a little edge to him.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I would imagine that'll eventually happen.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's the cool thing about WWE, right?
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's a never-ending book, a never-ending story.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: One of my favorite movies as a kid, never-ending story.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_01]: But, uh,
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't write the book.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what the next next page holds, but we'll find out soon.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: We'll find out soon.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: There's what eight, nine hours of WWE content every single week for us to consume.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll find out.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_02]: And final thing, Becky and AJ Lee, did you mind the result?
- 26:07[SPEAKER_02]: Or was it just like fan service?
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: AJ Lee's in Chicago, although she's not from Chicago.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_02]: I believe she's from.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think she is from there.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, Mary to see him punk and he is, you know, a god in Chicago, so she gets roped into that.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be honest, I'm a friend of Becky Lynch.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: She's married to one of my best friends and my business partner Seth Rollins.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: I've been able to interact with her plenty of time throughout the year.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: She's a wonderful woman and a fantastic pro wrestler.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I don't know where the story is going to go and how it's all going to play out for me personally.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: I would have put Becky over in that spot, but I get it right.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: We're in Chicago, AJ Lisa, a big fan favorite there.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: If you're trying to pop the crowd and give them a result that they can feel good about then you do something like that.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: In my opinion, both of these girls, Becky and AJ are
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: above the intercontinental championship, right?
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: Both of these, these women are our championship material.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: So if this leads to Becky moving on into a heavyweight championship storyline, then I'm all for it.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't understand.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that's more of a WDB thing and really modern era thing where the intercontinental titles are considered, like, you know, stepping stone titles.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, Becky doesn't need, first of all, Becky's to the point where she doesn't need a title.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't need a strap.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_02]: But maybe AJ does since she was out for a long time and they're gonna introduce her, I guess now.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, if she has a title, she's going to be on TV constantly, right?
- 27:50[SPEAKER_02]: All the way through WrestleMania, right?
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: So you'd have to thank for sure.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so you go to expect that she's gonna drop the belt at WrestleMania, but yeah, Becca doesn't need it like Becca doesn't need to have the title to to be a headliner or get a big match at a big show so I don't think it's gonna be an issue, but I've always I've always had a problem with that that
- 28:14[SPEAKER_02]: the two continental title is the thought of something that's lesser than.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_02]: I remember what it was like when we were younger, right?
- 28:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, when I was a kid, when I was a kid, I remember a gorilla monsoon and Jesse the body of Ventura.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_02]: My favorite show, because I'm a, I'm a, I'm older than you.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_02]: My favorite show used to be, it used to be called Saturday night times.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: I used to rent the VHS tapes for my local grocery store.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I was doing.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: And by the way, I thought it had a great format.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_02]: Now that format, obviously, now does not work, right?
- 28:47[SPEAKER_02]: Like that format doesn't work.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you remember what the format was like, but it was a studio show.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_02]: And they would tell you there was a big match in Detroit on Tuesday.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: And we're going to take you to that match so you could see it.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_02]: And they would put the
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's great from Detroit, right?
- 29:03[SPEAKER_02]: And then they would say, like they would build a card, which was basically from their house shows from the previous week.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't work now because they don't do as many house shows, but it absolutely could work if they did.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you're telling me a wrestling fan wouldn't want to catch up on the best house show matches throughout the week, I would.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, right?
- 29:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_02]: And I remember, because back then, we didn't have the dirt sheets.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: Like, if there was a title change in the Congo on Monday at 2 a.m., we would find out on Tuesday morning, right?
- 29:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: But I would be tuning in to Gorilla Monson and Bobby the Brain.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_02]: uh... doing Saturday night times and they'll be like and there was a big into content of the title match between Greg DeHamor Valentine and Tito Santana at Madison Square Garden I'd be like whoa like that's a big deal
- 29:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll be sitting there riveted waiting to see who would win.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 30:03[SPEAKER_02]: And then I would be like, oh, Tito Santana, one, oh, that's, that's a surprise.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_02]: And of course, all these people knew that he had the strap for like, you know, eight days already.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: And man, there's something to be said about that, right?
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like, obviously, the internet has allowed for the expansion of professional wrestling and everything that our fingertips now, you know, like you can, you can hop on YouTube,
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: some of the greatest professional wrestling matches of all time.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: But there is something to be said about having to wait and that anticipation building, right?
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: And you're at school all day, you know, on a Friday going, oh, man, I can't wait till tomorrow.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: I can watch a Saturday night tightens and figure out what happened in WWE F this week.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like, that's fun, man.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: I do kind of miss those days.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, last thing on the way out here.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_02]: I was watching this thing where, and I was reminded of it, do you remember it was like about eight years ago where the UFC traded Demetrius Johnson, Demetrius Johnson had, by the way, he's one of the greatest nicknames of all time.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_02]: He, at the time it was the Benhamweight Champion, which is 125 pounds I want to say, and his nickname is Mighty Mouse, right?
- 31:19[SPEAKER_02]: And guys are great fighter.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_02]: They traded him,
- 31:22[SPEAKER_02]: to a promotion in Japan and exchange for like a few fighters and I remember people asking Dana White, how can you do something like that?
- 31:29[SPEAKER_02]: He's like because this contract had language in it which made him tradable and all he had to do, all he had to do was agree to it.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: I was watching the show that was that was hypothetically speaking, if contracts were tradable in wrestling,
- 31:48[SPEAKER_02]: What kind of trades would you make or could you make between A, W, and W, W, like I don't want you to name names, but you know, we're talking hypotheticals.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like what would it cost W, W, E to acquire M, J, F?
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: What, you know, he's one of the top guys there.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_01]: So you can't, he's the champ, he's the champ.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so, okay, we talked about it earlier.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: Would you be willing to send a Finn Baller to acquire an M.J.F?
- 32:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think I would need more if I was A.W.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_02]: But it's a start.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's a great start.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like give me a top woman, I guess.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: what the thing though is you put Finn Baller in AEW he's one of the top guys already you know it's very similar in my opinion to John Moxley right John Moxley goes from being mostly a top guy in WWE not the top guy but near
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: That right upper echelon he goes to AEW and you know for the better part of however many years now He's been a main event player for them So Finn Baller one of the best in ring technicians in the world in my opinion You put him in AEW and you ask him to do their style and he'll be able to shine more than he's been able to shine in WWE in my opinion
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: Another guy I would want from AEW, I want to see Claudio cast in Yoli back in WWE.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's a personal friend of mine.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's one of the best wrestlers in the world.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, being a foreigner, he's got the language barrier and whatnot, but that hurts in the promo department.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: But I just think he's a fantastic worker, and I would love to see him back on WWE television.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he has a good look to and he would work.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_02]: He would work.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_02]: He's more of the WWE style, actually, if you think about it, because he seems kind of out of place on AEW television and they've never really moved them up all the way in AEW.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_02]: He's always been a supporting member to the main event is what he actually is.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, that's an interesting thing, right?
- 33:58[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, do you know if some of these contracts have tradable language in them?
- 34:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's a great question.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_01]: I would imagine they don't, you know, it's not a legitimate sporting competition.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's more so an entertainment field.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_01]: It'd be like, in my opinion, it'd be like if Leo Narder to Caprio got traded for Brad Pitt when they were both filming movies.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_02]: You know, although if I own your rights for the next like,
- 34:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'm pretty certain that there's language, like let's say Ressler A. I have them under contract for three years.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_02]: right and he breaks a clause in his contract.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'm pretty certain I own his rights for three years and I could keep him off the TV for three years unless there's a payoff.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm pretty certain that's a thing.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_02]: If that's the thing that means that I own rights over his name and likeness over the length of the contract.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_02]: So I would assume that you could possibly trade some of these contracts.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I've never even thought about that but
- 35:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but yeah, for MJF, if I'm a, I'm needing, I need a top guy and a top woman in the trade and possibly another throw in, you know, something that that could use for the midcard or as a current jerk or something like that, but yeah, you got to see that interview did I tell you about that interview the MJF did.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_02]: on YouTube with that.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_02]: Keep forgetting that guy's name that Chris.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: Chris Fembley.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Chris Fembley.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_02]: Great interview with MJ.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_02]: He stays in character, by the way.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_02]: But he's very, very revealing in the interview.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_02]: And my main takeaway, I want you to watch that interview and tell me what your main takeaways are next week.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_02]: But my main takeaway is he's never coming to WDB.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_02]: And if he is, he's coming to WWE down the road.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_02]: He is 29 years old right now, which means he has plenty of time.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's coming to WWE, like 36, 37 years old, like it's not happening.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the way he was talking, it's like, it's a wrap and he's a big fan of what they do in AEW.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he likes the freedom to be able to do what he wants to do, say the things he wants to say.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: He gets a little controversial sometimes.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like, like his promo style is pretty dang good.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: And he, he made our bones about it.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_02]: They does not like see him punk.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's a shoot.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that's, I don't think that's fake.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that that's, you know, trying to sell, like, why would he try to sell tickets for, for why?
- 36:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think I think you're on one of two spectrums, right?
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: You either really like Sam punk or you really don't like Sam punk.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: He he first long as I've known him and I met Sam punk when I was 16 years old, you know, we're kind of from the same area.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's from Chicago.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm from Iowa.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's a two and a half hour drive.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: We used to be on a lot of the same shows back in the day.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we're talking 20 years ago at this point, but
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: For as long as I've known him, he's been a polarizing figure in this business.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's been people who've loved him, and there's been people who have hated him.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's always been really good to me in our interactions, but it's funny because as we know, my business partner Seth Rollins, my friend Seth Rollins, him and CM Punk, they do not get along.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: They, they, they butt heads all the time.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I could absolutely see MJF not being a fan of all Phil Brooks.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, speaking of CM Punk and we'll leave it on this and I'll ask you a question on the way out.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe a prediction for for the week for the seven days.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_02]: Possibly about a quarterback.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_02]: on this team, because the next time we do a show, it will be the temporary period.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_02]: The temporary period would have opened, and we might have like real information the next time we'll show it.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, if I think the next time we do a show, it'll be day one of free agency, the 11th, correct?
- 38:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, the temporary period would have opened.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, it would have been, yeah, because day one I believe is the 13th, but the temporary period opens on the 11th, so you'll be hearing about people signing on the 11th.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: I thought the tampering period opened on the ninth and actual free agency opened on the 11th.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_01]: I got to check that.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: I got to check that.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_02]: But seeing punk's entrance at elimination chamber, I'm popping out low with the play.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_02]: I loved absolutely loved it because I remember the bulls 90s run.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_02]: My daughter had no idea what the hell was.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_02]: What the fuck was going on?
- 38:47[SPEAKER_02]: She was like, I don't get it.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, you don't get it because you're young.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think that those, do you think that there was young people everywhere watching that saying what's going on?
- 38:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and all the old people were like, oh, this is cool, this is the coolest thing ever.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, I mean, that happened in my household.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: I grew up a bull's fan, I no longer follow the team, I was really just a Jordan fan.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: As a lot of us were in the 90s, not you elf.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: But as soon as they started playing the music, I was like,
- 39:19[SPEAKER_01]: this is so cool and my kids were like what what this this is dumb dad what do you mean what do you this is cool and i'm like you don't understand you don't you don't get it this is good this is great shit yeah i think i think a lot of the people in the arena understood what was the people in the arena were like united center what's going on
- 39:39[SPEAKER_02]: You know, but all the old people are the old people who bought all the tickets for other other There's not no kids where like oh, this is great.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_02]: This is the greatest thing ever and their kids were just looking at them like Old people are doing old people shit right now.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, but sometimes They're doing it for us, man.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's not always for you young kids, right?
- 39:59[SPEAKER_01]: You get nostalgia.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's a hell of a drug
- 40:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like, I think Stunkle's divorced instead of best.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_02]: He did an interview once with the Undertaker.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_02]: And he said, sometimes the old man speaking of Vince McMahon would want to pop himself.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_02]: And he'd be like, if I pop myself, it means that other people popped as well.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_02]: And Stunkle tells Undertaker, I don't know if the old man knew but there was a lot of times he was popping himself and nobody else was.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, I can speak from experience running the independent wrestling shows that I do here in Iowa sometimes I just do shit because it's going to pop me and I don't care if it pops anybody else I'll be backstage laughing my ass off and all of my young young wrestlers will be looking at me like what the hell are you laughing at them like yeah whatever it was cool I enjoyed it nobody else gave a shit, but I did
- 40:51[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so seven days from now, we'll be March 11th, which is the first day of the tampery period, or that's the first day.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I just looked it up in Google is telling me that Wednesday, March 11th at 4 p.m. Easter marks the start of the New League year.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_01]: Legal tampering starts Monday, March 9th.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so legal tampering on the ninth and frequency is March 11th.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_02]: So, question on the way up.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's Tuesdaying of Aloha still, the Miami Dolphins quarterback by the kickoff of this show next week.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think Tuesdaying of Aloha is still a quarterback.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_01]: on the roster.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if he's the quarterback because shootman, we record right at the start of free agency.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: We might be breaking things live on this show.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if there's an option to go live on this show.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we can just sit here and react to everything that's happening in the moment.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think to a tongue out by loa will be on this roster until June 2nd and he's going to be a post, June cut, now they may have announced that by the time we record next week, but I really do think the Miami Dolphins are going to land Malik Willis.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think Malik Willis is going to be the next quarterback.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_01]: of the Miami Dolphins.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_01]: I know there's been a lot of talk over the last gosh week two weeks about the crazy numbers people think he's going to get in free agency.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's calm down over the last 24 hours or so and I do think you're going to be able to see him in a Dolphins uniform for around 20 to 25 million dollars per season with maybe 30 to 35 million dollars guarantee probably a two year deal.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: I just think
- 42:41[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't think he is your average back up quarterback.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think he has developed and grown into somebody who's ready to break out in this league.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think what you saw him do as a member of the Green Bay Packers proves that.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_01]: I like his arm.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: I like his legs.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_01]: His athleticism is off the charts.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: And Sully.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_01]: And Jeff Hathley, they know more about Malik Willis than most people in this league.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I think they're in a position to understand the impact he could have on the Miami Dolphins.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they're going to be able to get it done.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's between them and the Arizona Cardinals.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I think at the end of the day, if your milk willus and you're choosing where you wanna go, I think as crazy as it sounds to some people, I think Miami is a more desirable destination than the Arizona Cardinals.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: So I think milk willus is gonna be quarterback for 20, 26 and beyond.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I think that, and I completely agree, look, we talked about this and I think we talked about this in a couple of shows ago, you want them to take a lot of swings and somehow dolphin fans are on Twitter saying, no, I want them to take less swings at finding a quarterback.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_02]: which I don't get.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_02]: This does not stop you from joining everybody else in the quarterback pool in 2027.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_02]: Even if he's good, because people are fearing, okay, if he's just like kind of good, then we're not getting a quarterback.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_02]: No, you can still get your quarterback.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_02]: Get a quarterback in 2027, but you'll have more swings at getting that quarterback of the future, getting that franchise quarterback.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: if you're taking a leak willus now and I want to be opposed to drafting a quarterback this year as well that's nothing wrong with it that either and you know what else I don't agree with elf I don't agree with the idea that you can't evaluate milk willus as a good quarterback or not a good quarterback if the team isn't good.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think you can watch his individual play and decide whether he's somebody who can elevate your team as long as you get the right pieces around him, everybody needs the right pieces around him, right?
- 44:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, just take a look at Joe Burrow from what?
- 45:02[SPEAKER_01]: A couple of seasons ago where he had MVP numbers, one of the best statistical seasons a quarterback has ever had.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: But the team was garbage, particularly the defense, the team was garbage around him, and they won what five, six games that year.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody's turning around and saying, well, they won five or six games because Joe Burroughs sucks.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_01]: They lost the games that they lost because of the defense.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: So if Malik Willis comes to the dolphins and balls out in 2026, but they still have a poor record.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: you're able to do whatever you want in the 2027 draft.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_01]: And if every other team is looking at a quarterback, but you feel pretty good about what you have in Willis, that gives you the option to get the best, if one of the best, if not the best, non-cube options, if you feel like Willis is your guy.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm all for it.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_01]: I hope solely in halfly are as well.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: I hope they get their guy.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: I hope Malik Willis is a Miami dolphin because I think I just think he's special.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_01]: I really do.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_01]: I just think he's a special player.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_02]: All right, we're going to leave it right there.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_02]: And next week, we might even have a few new dolphins because we're going to have that tampering period, which is essentially just a signing period.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_02]: And who knows, we might have a new quarterback.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_02]: And one might be on the way out.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_02]: But next week,
- 46:28[SPEAKER_02]: Peace.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for listening to the off-season, American out.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_00]: Until next time, raise your fans, raise your glasses, and we'll talk to you next time.
