Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, January 13th.
• 0:11
When being bold feels risky, there are moments when doing the
• 0:14
right thing feels like stepping onto thin ice.
• 0:17
You know what you believe, you know what God is asking of you.
• 0:21
But saying it out loud, living it openly, or standing firm in
• 0:24
it can feel risky. You wonder what it might cost
• 0:27
  you. Friendships, reputation,
• 0:29
opportunities, or acceptance. In those moments, staying quiet
• 0:33
feels safer than being bold. Jesus understood that tension.
• 0:37
In Matthew chapter 10, verse 16, He tells his followers, Behold,
• 0:41
I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves.
• 0:44
So be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
• 0:47
That's not a comforting image. Sheep are vulnerable.
• 0:50
Wolves are aggressive. Jesus doesn't pretend the world
• 0:54
will always be welcoming to faith.
• 0:56
Instead, he calls his followers to live with wisdom and purity,
• 0:59
clear conviction without cruelty, courage without
• 1:02
compromise. A few verses later, Jesus says
• 1:05
something even more honest. In Matthew chapter 10, verse 22,
• 1:09
he says, And you will be hated by all for my name's sake, but
• 1:13
the one who endures to the end will be saved.
• 1:16
That's not about chasing conflict or attention.
• 1:19
It's about understanding that faithfulness sometimes brings
• 1:22
resistance. Choosing Jesus may not always
• 1:25
make you popular, but it will always make you secure in Him.
• 1:29
Proverbs chapter 3, verse 34 gives us a steady anchor in the
• 1:32
middle of that pressure toward the scorners He is scornful, but
• 1:36
to the humble He gives favor. God isn't impressed by mockery,
• 1:40
pride, or arrogance. He draws close to humility.
• 1:43
When you choose to depend on Him instead of protecting your
• 1:46
image, His favor rests on you. Humility isn't weakness.
• 1:50
It's strength rooted in trust. Being bold for Jesus doesn't
• 1:54
  mean being loud or argumentative.
• 1:56
Sometimes the boldest thing you can do is quietly live with
• 1:59
integrity when everyone else cuts corners.
• 2:02
Sometimes it's choosing kindness when sarcasm would earn laughs.
• 2:06
Sometimes it's standing firm in your values when compromise
• 2:09
would be easier. God sees every one of those
• 2:12
choices. Yes, boldness can feel risky,
• 2:15
but you're never alone in it. Jesus doesn't send you out
• 2:18
without His presence. He walks with you, strengthens
• 2:22
you, and promises that endurance has eternal value.
• 2:25
When you choose faith over fear and humility over approval,
• 2:28
you're standing in a favor that lasts far longer than people's
• 2:31
  opinions. Let's pray.
• 2:34
Heavenly Father, you know how hard it can feel to stand for
• 2:37
you when the pressure is real. Give me courage when boldness
• 2:40
feels risky, and wisdom to live with both truth and love.
• 2:44
Help me choose humility over pride and your approval over
• 2:47
people's opinions. Strengthen me to endure.
• 2:50
Trust you fully and remain faithful no matter what comes in
• 2:53
Jesus name, Amen. What if the ache you feel for
• 2:57
more is actually God calling you deeper?

• 4:17
Proverbs Chapter 3 verse 34 World English Bible.
• 4:21
Surely he mocks the mockers, but he gives grace to the humble.
• 4:24
Matthew chapter 10 World English Bible He called to himself his
• 4:28
12 disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits
• 4:32
to cast them out and to heal every disease and every
• 4:35
sickness. Now the names of the 12 apostles
• 4:38
are these, the first Simon who is called Peter, Andrew, his
• 4:42
brother James the son of Zebedee, John his brother
• 4:45
Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew the tax collector, James
• 4:49
the son of Alphaeus, Lebius who is also called Thaddeus, Simon
• 4:53
the Zealot and Judas Iscariot who also betrayed him.
• 4:57
Jesus sent these 12 out and commanded them saying don't go
• 5:00
among the Gentiles and don't enter into any city of the
• 5:03
Samaritans, rather go to the lost sheep of the House of
• 5:07
Israel. As you go, preach saying the
• 5:09
Kingdom of heaven is at hand, heal the sick, cleanse the
• 5:12
lepers and cast out demons freely.
• 5:14
You received, so freely give. Don't take any gold, silver or
• 5:18
brass in your money belts. Take no bag for your journey,
• 5:21
neither 2 coats nor sandals nor staff, for the laborer is worthy
• 5:25
of his food. Into whatever city or village
• 5:28
you enter, find out who in it is worthy and stay there until you
• 5:31
go on. As you enter into the household,
• 5:34
greet it. If the household is worthy, let
• 5:37
your peace come on it, but if it isn't worthy, let your peace
• 5:40
return to you. Whoever doesn't receive you or
• 5:42
hear your words. As you go out of that house or
• 5:45
that city, shake the dust off your feet.
• 5:47
Most certainly, I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the
• 5:50
land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Day of Judgment than for
• 5:53
that city. Behold, I send you out as sheep
• 5:56
among wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents
• 5:59
and harmless as doves, but beware of men, for they will
• 6:02
deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues.
• 6:05
They will scourge you, yes, and you will be brought before
• 6:08
governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to
• 6:12
the nations. But when they deliver you up,
• 6:14
don't be anxious how or what you will say, for it will be given
• 6:17
you in that hour what you will say.
• 6:19
For it is not you who speak, but the spirit of your father who
• 6:22
speaks in you. Brother will deliver up brother
• 6:25
to death, and the Father his child.
• 6:27
Children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put
• 6:30
to death. You will be hated by all men for
• 6:33
my name's sake, but he who endures to the end will be
• 6:36
saved. But when they persecute you in
• 6:38
the city, flee into the next. For most certainly, I tell you,
• 6:42
you will not have gone through the cities of Israel until the
• 6:45
Son of Man has come. A disciple is not above his
• 6:48
teacher, nor a servant above his Lord.
• 6:51
It is enough for the disciple that he be like his teacher and
• 6:54
the servant like his Lord. If they have called the master
• 6:57
of the house Beelzebul, how much more those of his household.
• 7:01
Therefore don't be afraid of them, for there is nothing
• 7:03
covered that will not be revealed or hidden that will not
• 7:06
be known. What I tell you in the darkness,
• 7:08
speak in the light, and what you hear whispered in the ear
• 7:12
proclaim on the housetops. Don't be afraid of those who
• 7:15
kill the body but are not able to kill the soul.
• 7:18
Rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body.
• 7:21
In Gehenna, aren't 2 sparrows sold for an Asarian coin?
• 7:25
Not one of them falls to the ground apart from your father's
• 7:27
will, but the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
• 7:31
Therefore, don't be afraid. You are of more value than many
• 7:34
  sparrows. Everyone, therefore, who
• 7:36
confesses me before men, I will also confess him before my
• 7:39
Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies me before
• 7:43
men, I will also deny him before my Father who is in heaven.
• 7:47
Don't think that I came to send peace on the earth.
• 7:49
I didn't come to send peace, but a sword, for I came to set a man
• 7:53
at odds against his father, and a daughter against her mother,
• 7:56
  and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
• 7:59
A man's foes will be those of his own household.
• 8:02
He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of
• 8:05
me, and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn't
• 8:08
worthy of me. He who doesn't take his cross
• 8:11
and follow after me isn't worthy of me.
• 8:13
He who seeks his life will lose it, and he who loses his life
• 8:16
for my sake will find it. He who receives you receives me,
• 8:20
and he who receives me receives him who sent me.
• 8:23
He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a
• 8:26
prophet's reward. He who receives A righteous man
• 8:29
in the name of a righteous man will receive a righteous man's
• 8:32
reward. Whoever gives one of these
• 8:34
little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a
• 8:37
disciple, most certainly I tell you, he will in no way lose his
• 8:41
reward. Thanks for joining us on Bible
