- 0:06Father, I want to thank you so much for your
- 0:07goodness and faithfulness. Thank you for your
- 0:09word, Lord, as we come before you. We pray that
- 0:12you would help us to understand how we are not
- 0:17only preserved in the faith as a saint, but how
- 0:23we are to maintain our minds and are consistent
- 0:28in our walk. as we walk with you, as to avoid
- 0:32the deception of deconstructionism. And that
- 0:37you, in your wisdom and goodness, have always
- 0:40kept your people till the day of your return,
- 0:45till that great day. And we praise you and thank
- 0:47you for your faithfulness and goodness. To you
- 0:48be glory and honor. In Jesus' name, amen. So
- 0:52let us start off with 1 John 2, verse 15. Do
- 0:57not love the world or the things in the world.
- 1:01If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father
- 1:03is not in him. For all that is in the world,
- 1:06the desires of the flesh, the desires of the
- 1:08eyes, and the pride of life is not from the Father,
- 1:11but is from the world. And the world is passing
- 1:14away along with its desires, but whoever does
- 1:21the will of God abides forever. Children, it
- 1:25is the last hour. And as you have heard, the
- 1:28Antichrist is coming. So now many Antichrists
- 1:33have come. Therefore, we know that it is the
- 1:36last hour. They went out from us, but they were
- 1:42not of us. For if they had been of us, they would
- 1:46have continued with us. But they went out that
- 1:50it might become plain that they all are not of
- 1:55us. but you have been anointed by the Holy One,
- 1:58and you all have knowledge. I write to you, not
- 2:03because you do not know the truth, but because
- 2:06you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.
- 2:11Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus
- 2:15is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who
- 2:19denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies
- 2:24the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the
- 2:28Son has the Father also. Let what you heard from
- 2:34the beginning abide in you. If what you heard
- 2:36from the beginning abides in you, then you too
- 2:39will abide in the Son and in the Father. And
- 2:42this is the promise. That he made to us eternal
- 2:46life. I write these things to you. About those
- 2:50who were trying to deceive you. But the anointing
- 2:55that you received from him abides in you. And
- 2:59you have no need that any should teach you. But
- 3:03as. is but as his anointing teaches you about
- 3:08everything and is true and there's no lie just
- 3:12as it has taught you abide in him so we read
- 3:16this and we go wow it's a lot there is a lot
- 3:20but there's a specific continual thread and understanding
- 3:24of what he's trying to show you and this is a
- 3:28major issue in our day right now So the title
- 3:34for this message is The Deconstructed, A Life
- 3:38That Never Left the World. The Deconstructed,
- 3:41A Life That Never Left the World. So what we
- 3:46see in 1 John chapter 2 is 10 times John writes
- 3:54the term, I write to you. 10 times. In this entire
- 3:59chapter. And this is why it's important. We know
- 4:01because I told you guys last week. If John says
- 4:03I'm writing to you. Then you have to read it.
- 4:06He doesn't write for you not to read. So the
- 4:09implication is. If I write to you. If I write
- 4:12to you. If I write to you. Then you will read
- 4:14it. Then you will read it. Then you will read
- 4:15it. And this is significant. This is not a statement
- 4:20of suggestion. But an imperative to listen and
- 4:23follow. So when God says something over and over
- 4:26and over again, it's you listen and you do it.
- 4:29And five times he uses the term children in this
- 4:32chapter. It's one of the common analogies. If
- 4:36you read in this entire book, he uses the term
- 4:40children and little children quite often. And
- 4:44there's a reason. Because he is writing as a
- 4:46father does to his children. We must listen to
- 4:50what he is writing in the same way a child should
- 4:53listen to their father. In other words, if I'm
- 4:56going to talk to you, boy, listen to what I'm
- 4:59saying. And so we must listen because he's writing
- 5:04in the same way as a father would to a child.
- 5:07And this part of the chapter is vital to John's
- 5:09explaining what has happened and what's to come.
- 5:14He specifically points out the defectors. These
- 5:19Christian deconstructionists, these ex -evangelicals
- 5:23is a term that's used today. The CVs or the hashtag
- 5:27empty the pews statement. For you young guys,
- 5:31and this has got a room full of some younger
- 5:34people, you know, you got your little Twitter
- 5:36hashtag statements. And this is one of those
- 5:40statements. Among what you would assume are the
- 5:44learned, but they're really not learned at all.
- 5:48At a leaders conference I attended a few years
- 5:50ago at Cairn University, the subject was doubt,
- 5:54disillusionment, and deconstruction. It's based
- 5:57on a book, Surprised by Doubt, How Disillusionment
- 6:01Can Invite Us to a Deeper Faith by Dr. Joshua
- 6:04Chatrall. It's interesting because I left there,
- 6:09I went there curious. I know that deconstruction
- 6:14is this thing going on. But really, what is it
- 6:17about? But I left with many concerns about that
- 6:21particular conference. Other than that, the conferences
- 6:24have been absolutely amazing. And I can understand
- 6:26why they did the conference because they're trying
- 6:28to inform pastors and leaders on how to deal
- 6:31with people who are quote -unquote deconstructioning
- 6:33or are disillusioned to the faith. And Paul deals
- 6:39with that. Don't be so easily shaken, Paul says,
- 6:42as if. A letter was written. I'll read that in
- 6:46a minute. But that's the problem with deconstruction
- 6:49people. These disillusioned people. Their faith
- 6:53is easily shaken. And the reason why it's easily
- 6:55shaken is because it's not really built on the
- 6:57firm foundation. Christ being the chief cornerstone
- 7:01and the foundation being the apostles and the
- 7:03prophets of the word of God given to the people.
- 7:07They build on foundation different. Really try
- 7:12to build a foundation that fits them. A house
- 7:16that they would like. And I think the important
- 7:22thing is when I left that conference, I left
- 7:25that conference firmer in my rejection of deconstructionism
- 7:31and stronger in the stance of the perseverance
- 7:33of the saints. And when we get done this, you're
- 7:38going to see why I... State that. Deconstructionism
- 7:44is not a new thing. It's an old deception. They
- 7:52just relabeled it. Christian deconstructionism
- 7:59is the process. This is the definition. And I
- 8:02pulled this definition from the internet because
- 8:04there's like several different types of definitions.
- 8:06And it came from the 1960s from a French I think
- 8:12it's a French psychologist. I can't remember
- 8:13if he was a psychologist or sociologist. But
- 8:16he came up with this term of deconstructionism.
- 8:19And as a result, the Christians have adopted
- 8:21this term and this way of thinking. So I think
- 8:26this definition gives a clear understanding of
- 8:28Christian deconstructionism and why it's so prevalent.
- 8:34And that is because it is a worldview and a world
- 8:37philosophy. applied to biblical truths by which
- 8:42they make themselves look foolish because they
- 8:45don't know. Or they know, but they really don't
- 8:48want to know. Or they just don't know because
- 8:51they choose not to know. So Christian deconstructionism
- 8:56is the process of critically examining, questioning,
- 9:00and dismantling a person's previously held religious
- 9:02beliefs, church culture, and foundational doctrines.
- 9:07Now think about that. You're critically thinking
- 9:09about a doctrine that you alone never believed
- 9:14in. You're not really dismantling anything. You're
- 9:20not deconstructing anything. You're making excuses
- 9:24for what's always been there. So often, starting
- 9:28with evangelism, it involves taking apart a lifelong
- 9:32belief system to see what is true, harmful. And
- 9:35shaped purely by politics and tradition. And
- 9:40it's interesting that as we see the rise of the
- 9:43religious right. And the religious left. The
- 9:48rise of the political religion of America. There
- 9:55are two forms. Right? Two forms. We have the.
- 10:05Christian nationalists. And then we have the
- 10:08Christian socialists. And there's this huge debate
- 10:15on who's right. And the reality is, I think many
- 10:18of these deconstructionists end up making their
- 10:22final decision on what they believe politically.
- 10:26Because, after all, it's what's going on in my
- 10:28life right now. Because I'm like the most important
- 10:31thing right now. And this isn't new. If you turn
- 10:35to John chapter 6, Jesus dealt with the same
- 10:41issue. The same exact problem. Jesus dealt with
- 10:52defectors. Jesus dealt with deconstructionists,
- 10:55the apostates, the ones who said they were with
- 10:58him, but then they were like, yep, I'm out. So
- 11:01Jesus is talking to the people. In John 6. And
- 11:06he's talking to them about him being the bread
- 11:08of life. And Jesus says, he who eats my flesh
- 11:11and drinks my blood, it is he who has life. And
- 11:16they're like, you're weird. That's cannibalism.
- 11:19Of course, they didn't get it. But Jesus makes
- 11:23this statement on purpose. One, it's true. But
- 11:29two, It's to see if they actually believe in
- 11:33him. Because what you read in chapter 6 verse
- 11:4060 is one of the reasons why I don't like headings.
- 11:43Because when you read headings, you think it's
- 11:45all one separate conversation to another. In
- 11:48reality, it's the same conversation. So in verse
- 11:5259 of chapter 6, it says, Jesus said these things
- 11:56in a synagogue as he taught in Capernaum. And
- 12:00when many of his disciples heard it, they said,
- 12:03this is a hard saying. Who can listen to it?
- 12:07Who in the world is able to listen to you telling
- 12:11everyone to feed on your flesh and drink your
- 12:14blood? Like that is, what are you talking about?
- 12:22And he was really pointing them to the time that
- 12:26the forefathers were in the desert. Eating manna.
- 12:32I am your source of life and your sustenance.
- 12:35I am the one who keeps you alive. Man does not
- 12:38live by bread alone, by every word that comes
- 12:40from the mouth of God is what he was implying
- 12:42here. But no. So, these disciples that were following
- 12:51him, which were numerous, more than 60, I assume.
- 12:57They're all like, I can't listen to this. But
- 12:59Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples
- 13:03were grumbling about this, he said to them, do
- 13:07not take offense at this. Then what if you were
- 13:12to see the son of man ascending to where he was
- 13:15before? If me telling you to eat my flesh and
- 13:20drink my blood is shocking, how about if I left
- 13:24right here and you watched me go? Would that
- 13:28verify that what I'm saying is true? If the manna
- 13:31fell from heaven to feed you, how about if the
- 13:34manna ascends to heaven? Will you believe me
- 13:37then? That's what he's implying here. Then he
- 13:44says, it is the spirit who gives life. The flesh
- 13:50has no help at all. Now, that is a massive statement.
- 13:58Why? Who's the one that gives life? The Spirit
- 14:00of God. What's it say in 2 Corinthians chapter
- 14:032? I'm giving you something that I didn't give
- 14:06first service. 1 Corinthians chapter 2, verse
- 14:1014. If the Spirit gives life, then it's the Spirit
- 14:13who gives knowledge. And it's exactly what Jesus
- 14:17says. I'll read it to you. Chapter 2, verse 14.
- 14:22The natural person does not accept the things
- 14:25of God. of the Spirit of God, for they are folly
- 14:27to him, and he is not able to understand them
- 14:30because they are spiritually discerned. Spiritual
- 14:34truths, unspiritual people cannot understand.
- 14:38That means even the gospel. That's why when you
- 14:40preach the gospel and you go, how can you walk
- 14:42away from that? It's because they don't know
- 14:44him. Now, look at what Jesus says here. It is
- 14:49the Spirit who gives life. The flesh is no help
- 14:53at all. The words that I have spoken to you are
- 14:58spirit and life. Do you get the point? But there
- 15:07are some of you who do not believe. Jesus did
- 15:12all these miracles. He did all this in front
- 15:15of them. He then gives them a truth that they
- 15:18can have life in him and life everlasting and
- 15:21forgiveness by their sins being washed away.
- 15:24But what do they do? No, I don't want any part
- 15:26of that. Because they don't want any part of
- 15:29him. That was the point. If you eat this bread
- 15:32and drink this cup, you have a part with me.
- 15:36But if you don't, you're not part of me. For
- 15:40Jesus knew from the beginning who those were
- 15:44who did not believe and who it was who would
- 15:48betray him. He knew everyone there that didn't
- 15:52believe. They were all disciples. Get it. They
- 15:57were all disciples. all following him around,
- 16:00watching him do miracles and being excited talking
- 16:03about it. Did you see that? Man, he's about to
- 16:06take over the Romans. It's all about that, right?
- 16:08And then all of a sudden he says, hey, you want
- 16:10to be a part of me? You got to do this. And they're
- 16:12like, you're crazy. Look what he says here. And
- 16:18he said, this is why I told you that no one can
- 16:23come to me unless it is granted to him by the
- 16:26Father. Do you hear that? Let me make this clear
- 16:30again. No one can go to Jesus unless the Father
- 16:34has granted that person to go to Jesus. How do
- 16:39we deal with that? How do you deal with that?
- 16:42Because that wrecks a lot of faith here, right?
- 16:46That should mess some people up. Mess me up.
- 16:50I'm like, what do you mean? I can't go to Jesus
- 16:53unless the Father says so? How do I do it? What
- 16:58do I do with that? You don't do anything with
- 17:02it. The reality is, it's a reality. Okay, God
- 17:06said it. I can't argue that. And that's the way
- 17:09it is. I will not come unless the Father sends
- 17:11me. Or he draws me. That's the point. And he
- 17:16comes near to me. Deconstructionists hate that
- 17:22idea. Why? Because with deconstructionists, It's
- 17:27all about them. It's about me. It's not about
- 17:31God. But then look what Jesus says. After this,
- 17:35many of his disciples turned back and no longer
- 17:38walked with him. Listen, the doctrine of election
- 17:41wrecks everybody. Some will stay. Many will go.
- 17:53That's what he's saying here. Everybody left.
- 17:59Guess who was left? Twelve. And one of the twelve,
- 18:06which Jesus says earlier, is the devil. Look
- 18:08what it says here. So Jesus said to the twelve,
- 18:12do you want to go away as well? You want to leave
- 18:15me? Look at the mind of a believer versus a deconstructionist.
- 18:22It's an amazing statement. Simon Peter answered,
- 18:25Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words
- 18:29of eternal life. Do you know how every believer
- 18:33perseveres through the reality of doubt and disillusionment?
- 18:37The word of God. Doesn't matter. You have the
- 18:44words of life and we are in that. I'm all about
- 18:48that. So it doesn't matter how... A church grows
- 18:53and explodes and then shrinks. The words of life.
- 19:00And we've believed and have come to know that
- 19:05you are the Holy One of God. Look at his response.
- 19:09So not only do you see that the reality of avoiding
- 19:12the deconstruction is the word of God which is
- 19:15present in them and because he is with them and
- 19:21They know him. Personally, I know. Interesting,
- 19:30isn't it? But then Jesus says to them, did I
- 19:35not choose you, the 12, and yet one of you is
- 19:39a devil? And he spoke of Judas, the son of Simon
- 19:45Iscariot, for he, one of the 12, was going to
- 19:49betray him. So even though Judas stayed, he stayed
- 19:54because it was his will to stay. Judas could
- 19:58have left. Nah, not going to happen. Because
- 20:03God has a plan for Judas, does he not? Oh yes,
- 20:06he does. So, turn to 1 John. So even in Jesus'
- 20:13day, there are deconstructors or defectors. And
- 20:17there are even that in the Old Testament, if
- 20:19you go to Isaiah chapter one, verses one through
- 20:21four, people have always left the mission because
- 20:27they were never part of the mission. And John
- 20:30states that. Now look what it says here. It's
- 20:33principle number one. No one can serve two masters.
- 20:37They will either hate the one and love the other,
- 20:39or they will be devoted to the one and despise
- 20:41the other. You cannot serve both. You cannot
- 20:44serve God and money. And the word there translated
- 20:47money is money. But the reality is it's also
- 20:49you cannot serve God and the world. Because the
- 20:54world operates everything around money. That's
- 20:58in Matthew 6, 24. You either love the one or
- 21:01hate the other. You're devoted to one and despise
- 21:04the other. But you can't have both. And that's
- 21:07the uniqueness about God's work through his word.
- 21:11And the uniqueness of how God cleans the church
- 21:13out by deconstruction. It's not really real true
- 21:18faith. In James 4 .4 it says, you adulterous
- 21:24people, do you not know that friendship with
- 21:28the world is enmity with God? Therefore, whoever
- 21:32wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself
- 21:34an enemy of God. You cannot be both. And what
- 21:42John is building here is he's building the clear
- 21:46direction of where these apostates are. They
- 21:51have a love. All of us love something. We either
- 21:55love God or we love the world. We either love
- 21:58God or we love our sin. You can't love both.
- 22:05And sometimes that's a deep struggle for believers.
- 22:10And look what it says here in 1 John 2, 15 through
- 22:1317. Do not love the things of the world. If anyone
- 22:17loves the world, the love of the Father is not
- 22:19in him. Pretty clear, isn't it? You cannot love
- 22:24the world and say that I'm a believer. For all
- 22:29that is in the world, the desires of the flesh,
- 22:31the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life,
- 22:33is not from the Father, but is from the world.
- 22:37Do you get that? So let me get it clear for you.
- 22:40The world is this system of things. Specifically,
- 22:45the system of sin, the corruption. And the world
- 22:50in its system is completely corrupted and designed
- 22:54to destroy, steal, and kill. And the world is
- 23:00passing away along with its desires. And whoever
- 23:04does the will of God abides forever. And what
- 23:06he's saying is, Everything that's corrupted eventually
- 23:09decays. The world is dying. Look at the ash trees
- 23:17just in this area. That's a small microcosm of
- 23:22the slow decay of things. Because of sin. Imagine
- 23:29what sin does to the soul. And that's why he
- 23:32says we are dead in our trespasses. We are dealing
- 23:37with the reality of the corruption of the world
- 23:39every single day we wake up and we sleep. And
- 23:46the world is passing away with all its desires.
- 23:49But the question is, do you abide in God forever?
- 23:56Principle number two, those who deconstruct never
- 23:58knew Christ nor left the world. And that's my
- 24:01argument. There's really no such thing as Christian
- 24:04deconstructionism. They just never left the world
- 24:10in the first place. You'll hear deconstructionists
- 24:13say, well, I grew up in a Christian household.
- 24:15I'm a pastor's kid. I just decided over time
- 24:22that it's a lie. I was a believer at one time.
- 24:27I was a follower of Jesus and I was serious.
- 24:29I was preaching the gospel and people got saved.
- 24:34That doesn't mean you were a believer just because
- 24:37you said a prayer. And what do you see? They
- 24:43base their life choices on the experience instead
- 24:46of basing choices on truth. And they need someone
- 24:52to blame because they don't want to be held responsible
- 24:54for their junk. So they say, you know what? It's
- 24:57because the church hurt. Let me tell you something.
- 25:01No one in this room understands church hurt more
- 25:03than I do. And I'm not saying that from boastfulness.
- 25:06I am telling you. And my wife is a witness to
- 25:12that truth. What we have gone through through
- 25:17years of ministry in church. Not our church.
- 25:22But just church in general. I know what church
- 25:25hurts feels like. Why haven't I defected? Because
- 25:29if there's anyone in the room that has an excuse,
- 25:31I do. And the elders know because I told them.
- 25:36And so does the pulpit committee. I know what
- 25:40church feels like. I know what it's like when
- 25:42a deacon turns on you and when people lie about
- 25:45you and when others are stealing in the church
- 25:47and you've got to stand up for truth. I know
- 25:50what it's like. Does that mean I'm going to defect
- 25:56because things are difficult? No. No, I'm not
- 26:00a defector. There are times when you want to
- 26:04give up because you're tired, you're exhausted,
- 26:05and you're like, I don't know if I can do this
- 26:07anymore. But why do you keep going? Because of
- 26:11truth and Christ's kingdom. You don't stop because
- 26:14it's difficult. But that's what deconstructionists
- 26:18do. They make excuses for their disbelief. And
- 26:24they blame the church and they blame everyone
- 26:26else. Even though they're part of the problem
- 26:28because they're in the church as a non -believer.
- 26:30They're false Christians. Can you imagine if
- 26:35the church was only real true believers? You
- 26:44know the scariest part? It'd probably be emptier
- 26:46than it is right now. Because I don't know who's
- 26:52saved, who's not saved. Only God knows. But if
- 26:58they are truly believers, I think we'd be surprised.
- 27:03But we'd also be surprised to find out who is.
- 27:06I would have never guessed that. Look what he
- 27:13says here. So the reality of the deconstructionists
- 27:16is they never knew Christ. And they never left
- 27:19the world. In Hebrews 4, Hebrews 6, 4 through
- 27:226 says it this way. Hebrews 6, 4 through 6. For
- 27:25it is impossible. You hear that? Please. If everyone
- 27:29starts talking about this and they're like, see,
- 27:31you can lose your salvation. No. I'm telling
- 27:36you, it's bad teaching. This is the right teaching
- 27:38here. For it is impossible. That's a definitive
- 27:45statement. In other words, there's not a way.
- 27:48or a possibility, or an iota whatsoever for this
- 27:52to happen. So what he's doing, he's giving you
- 27:55a scenario that will never happen. For it is
- 27:59impossible in the case of those who have once
- 28:03been enlightened, in other words, have come to
- 28:06know the truth, who have tasted the heavenly
- 28:08gift, who have... come to eternity with Jesus,
- 28:11have shared in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit
- 28:14has indwelled them as a guarantee of their inheritance,
- 28:17and have tasted the goodness of the Word of God
- 28:20to be completely changed and transformed and
- 28:24sanctified by the Word of God, and the powers
- 28:26of the age to come with the hope of what we have
- 28:29in the future, and then to have fallen away,
- 28:33just to totally abandon it. Think about that.
- 28:40Do we honestly think that God is that weak? That
- 28:45he can't keep his people? And there are denominations
- 28:51that teach that you can lose your salvation.
- 28:52It is an impossibility. Because if I can lose
- 28:58my salvation by the change of my mind, because
- 29:01I choose to, then God's a really weak God. It's
- 29:07an impossibility. Look what it says. And then
- 29:10to have fallen away. To restore them again to
- 29:13repentance. To send the Holy Spirit back so that
- 29:17he will dwell back in. To cover them again of
- 29:21their sin by the blood of Jesus. To have Jesus
- 29:24go through the whole process of being crucified,
- 29:27buried, and rising again on the third day. If
- 29:32you once received all that and he's done all
- 29:35that for you, for you to go back and be restored
- 29:38to repentance, this is what I believe it's Paul
- 29:45writing this along with Luke. Since they are
- 29:48crucifying once again the son of God to their
- 29:51own harm and holding him up to contempt. What
- 29:55you're saying about Jesus' crucifixion is it's
- 29:58never good enough. Because I have to do my part
- 30:01to keep it. And that's what deconstructionists
- 30:06are saying. I've known Jesus. I've worked for
- 30:11Jesus. I've done the ministry with Jesus. I grew
- 30:13up with Jesus. I've known Jesus my whole life.
- 30:22Look what it says in 1 John 2, 18 through 20.
- 30:25And this is how John states it. Children, again,
- 30:28it is the last hour. So I want you to hear this.
- 30:32Hear that? It is the last hour. Not when the
- 30:39seven -year tribulation happens. It's now. That's
- 30:43important to understand. We're in it now. It's
- 30:46been the last hour since his ascension. It's
- 30:49going to be the last hour until his return. We
- 30:52are in it now. And it's good because we know
- 30:57if we're in it that he could be here any minute.
- 30:59And if we're in it, he's coming any minute. The
- 31:03question, are you ready to go be with him? Okay.
- 31:09Now look what it says. Children, it is the last
- 31:12hour as you have heard that Antichrist is coming.
- 31:16He's talking about V1. Yes, that Antichrist is
- 31:20coming. So now many antichrists have come. And
- 31:27we know that because there have been many antichrists.
- 31:29And there are many antichrists even among believers.
- 31:33Because look what it says. Therefore we know
- 31:35that it is the last hour. Why? Because there's
- 31:39an antichrist coming and there's a bunch of antichrists
- 31:41around us. What do we know about these antichrists?
- 31:47I want you to pay attention to what John says
- 31:49here. This is what he's saying about the antichrists,
- 31:53the deconstructionists, the defectors of the
- 31:57faith, the apostates. They went out from us,
- 32:02but they were not of us. If they had been of
- 32:06us, they would have continued with us. But they
- 32:10went out that it might become plain that they
- 32:14all are not of us. Isn't that interesting? Where
- 32:20do most of the antichrists come from? Churches.
- 32:28That's enough to hush a room. What? Yes. They
- 32:34were never of us. They came from us, but they
- 32:37weren't of us. Because if they had been of us,
- 32:40they would have remained with us. But they didn't,
- 32:43so they went out. And as a result, it's plain
- 32:46that all of them are... Antichrists. What is
- 32:53an antichrist? He says that shortly. But you
- 32:56have been anointed by the Holy One. You're not
- 32:59one of those people. You're not one. Why? Because
- 33:05the word anointed, this is a really cool word.
- 33:07It literally means to smear. You're smeared by
- 33:14the Holy Spirit. Now, you guys know, you guys
- 33:18understand what smearing is. You guys got little
- 33:21kids? Did your kids ever discover ketchup or
- 33:25peanut butter? And what they do with it? They
- 33:31put it in places you didn't even know they had.
- 33:33Places. It's everywhere. It's all here. It's
- 33:37painted on them. You're like, what did you do?
- 33:40That's the smearing. And it's hard to take peanut
- 33:43butter off. That's just a little easier. Just
- 33:47stick them in the shower. Peanut butter sticks.
- 33:50That's the smearing. That's what this word smear
- 33:54means. This anointed. You have been smeared by
- 33:56the Holy Spirit. And you all have knowledge.
- 33:59What knowledge? What knowledge? Look what it
- 34:04says. The knowledge of God. The knowledge of
- 34:08this gospel. That's the knowledge you were given.
- 34:15Paul states the same thing in this way. Everything
- 34:18we just read, notice what he says in 2 Thessalonians
- 34:222, verse 3. Interesting. Let no one deceive you
- 34:28in any way. For that day will not come. That
- 34:33day will not come unless the rebellion comes
- 34:38first and the man of lawlessness is revealed,
- 34:43the son of destruction. What? The rebellion comes
- 34:47first? Yes, called the days of deconstructionism.
- 34:52You know what the fastest church that is, the
- 34:59slowest growing church, we'll say it that way,
- 35:01but it's the fastest depleting, biblical Christianity.
- 35:07Because listen to me, people that attend Stephen
- 35:10Furtick Church and all those other false churches,
- 35:12those aren't churches. So we live in the days
- 35:20of the rebellion. We live in the days of deconstructionism.
- 35:23We live in the days of those who have jumped
- 35:26ship. Look what it says, the next principle.
- 35:32You cannot deconstruct from something you never
- 35:34had. You cannot deconstruct from something you
- 35:38never had. Jesus said, and this is the will of
- 35:41him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of
- 35:45all that he has given me. Who gave you to Jesus?
- 35:55The Father. And what's Jesus say? Those whom
- 35:59the Father has given me, I will not lose. But
- 36:03I will raise it up on the last day. John 17,
- 36:0939. John 17, 3. This is what he says. And this
- 36:18is eternal life that you. That they know you,
- 36:21the only true God in Jesus Christ to whom you
- 36:24have sent. And what's interesting is this term
- 36:26supports verse 20. But you have been anointed
- 36:32by the Holy One and you all have knowledge. Knowledge
- 36:35of what? Knowledge of eternal life. To know the
- 36:39Father and to know the Son is eternal life. Because
- 36:44if we are in Christ, then Christ is in God. then
- 36:48we are in him and he is in us. In 1 John 2, 21
- 36:55through 25, I write to you, not because you do
- 36:58not know the truth, but because you know it.
- 37:02Who? He is the truth. Christ is the truth. The
- 37:06spirit of Christ is the truth. And because no
- 37:08one lie, because no lie is of the truth. We know
- 37:12that because he lives in you. He's not a liar
- 37:16as those who do lie. Who is the liar? The one
- 37:22who denies that Jesus is the Christ. This is
- 37:25the Antichrist. Now what's interesting in the
- 37:28Hebrew, I mean in the Greek, sorry. I'm in the
- 37:30Hebrew month. In the Greek, this term the isn't
- 37:33present. This is Antichrist is what he says.
- 37:39The is not there. I don't know why we put it
- 37:41in there because there is no definitive article
- 37:43in the original language that I could find. What
- 37:46he's saying is that the one who denies that Jesus
- 37:48is the Christ is Antichrist. He who denies the
- 37:53Father and the Son. That is an Antichrist. How
- 37:58can those who deconstruct state that they believed
- 38:03in Jesus and were a follower of Jesus to then
- 38:05turn around and deny Jesus is the Christ. That
- 38:10means you never knew he was Christ. You're an
- 38:14antichrist. False Christianity and false Christians,
- 38:21false Christians are antichrists and false Christianity
- 38:23is the message of the antichrist. It's a false
- 38:27religion. It's a fake faith. Notice what it says
- 38:32here. No one who denies the Son has the Father.
- 38:36What's eternal life? To know you, the only true
- 38:39God and his son whom you have sent. Whoever confesses
- 38:44the son has the father also. Which makes sense
- 38:47because if the Holy Spirit lives in you and he
- 38:49is the exact representation of the son and the
- 38:52son is the exact representation of the father
- 38:54and that they are three in one, the triune God,
- 38:57then God, the father and God, the son live in
- 39:01you through the spirit of God. Let what you heard
- 39:08from the beginning abide in you. What did you
- 39:09hear from the beginning? What was the thing you
- 39:11heard from the very beginning? The gospel. The
- 39:17very first thing that you heard is the gospel.
- 39:20Do you know one of the reasons why I never defected
- 39:23is because the gospel keeps me. The word of the
- 39:28living God keeps me. If you heard from the beginning,
- 39:35if what you heard from the beginning abides in
- 39:37you, then you too will abide in the Son and in
- 39:41the Father. And what did I hear from the beginning?
- 39:44His gospel. And how do we receive the gospel?
- 39:49For it is by grace you have been saved through
- 39:52faith, right? And we receive the gospel because
- 39:56the word of Christ is given to us by faith. And
- 40:08this is the true promise that he made to us,
- 40:11eternal life, which is exactly what we read in
- 40:14John 17, 3. That's the promise. The gospel. Do
- 40:22you know why people defect? Because they don't
- 40:25believe the gospel. Why don't they believe the
- 40:27gospel? Because they have not the spirit of God
- 40:29to believe the gospel. They can't believe a spiritual
- 40:32truth because they're spiritually discerned because
- 40:34they don't have God. And the only way to come
- 40:36to know God is God has to give you to the Son.
- 40:42By which he draws near to you. By which he saves
- 40:45you. And gives you the knowledge of faith and
- 40:48the gift of faith for you. And the knowledge
- 40:51of the truth because the Spirit of God dwells
- 40:53in you. You cannot have life without the Spirit,
- 41:00he said. 1 John 2, 26 -29. I write these things
- 41:05to you about those who are trying to deceive
- 41:08you. These deconstructionists. But the anointing
- 41:15that you received from him abides in you. Who
- 41:20is the smear? Who is the one who has anointed
- 41:23you? The spirit of God abides in you. He is the
- 41:26anointing which you received. You And you have
- 41:31no need that anyone should teach you. So why
- 41:35do you come to church? If I don't need someone
- 41:38to teach me, what's the point of coming to Wednesday
- 41:39night? It's to verify and affirm that what you're
- 41:45learning is true. Or that you learn something
- 41:49new so that you can go home and verify through
- 41:51the Spirit of God that what's being taught is
- 41:53true. Either way, it's a receive and it's a give.
- 41:59It's a receive and it's a give. All the time.
- 42:02You get something, you test it. You learn something,
- 42:06you give it. And the Spirit of God is the one
- 42:11who will guide you on all truth. He will verify
- 42:14if what I'm teaching you is biblically true.
- 42:16By you going home and studying it. Listen, you
- 42:20should be in the Word every single day. Listening
- 42:24to it. reading it, do something with it every
- 42:28day. Every day you should be in it somehow or
- 42:34another. You should get something every day.
- 42:41But the anointing you have received from him
- 42:44abides in you. And if you have, and you have
- 42:46no need for anyone to teach you, then he should
- 42:48teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about
- 42:53everything and is true, and is no lie, just as
- 42:57it has taught you, abide in him. In other words,
- 43:00this is what he's saying. The Holy Spirit, when
- 43:02the Holy Spirit verifies and teaches you truth,
- 43:04you should be doing it. If you love me, you obey
- 43:09my commandments. You're like, why does Jesus
- 43:14keep saying this over and over and over again
- 43:16through his word? Why does Pastor Joe keep preaching
- 43:19and teaching this over and over and over again?
- 43:21Because the sin is worse. You can't avoid it.
- 43:29It's like I want something practical for my life.
- 43:31I want you to speak about what's going on in
- 43:33my life because that's what matters for me. That's
- 43:37the answer. It literally is do what he tells
- 43:40you to do. It's not like you're not going to
- 43:43have trouble, but it's going to be a lot better
- 43:45for you to get out of the situation. And then
- 43:50look what he says. And now little children abide
- 43:53in him. So that when he appears, we may have
- 43:56confidence and not shrink from him in shame at
- 44:00his coming. How can we know that we are his and
- 44:05we belong to him when he returns? We're not going
- 44:08to cower in fear and in shame because he is there.
- 44:13We are going to run like a child runs to their
- 44:17father. That's how you'll know. that you are
- 44:24not deconstructed. Because you won't shrink in
- 44:29shame. You have the confidence that you know
- 44:31that the gospel is true and the word of God is
- 44:33effective in your life. Verse 29, and we close.
- 44:39If you know that he is righteous, you may be
- 44:43sure that everyone who practices righteousness
- 44:46has been born of him. You're like, there it goes
- 44:50again. John's wrote it, and if John wrote it,
- 44:56he wants you to read it. If he wants you to read
- 44:58it, he wants you to do it. It's there for a reason.
- 45:05So what do we learn about deconstructionism?
- 45:11It's an old idea. So they can come up with a
- 45:15new term all they want. They can wrap it up in
- 45:17a bow and make it all pretty. So they can...
- 45:21empty the pews and be ex -evangelicals. It really
- 45:26doesn't matter. Because they were never of us
- 45:28in the first place. So you could say you're deconstructing,
- 45:34but you never really deconstructed for something
- 45:35you never had. Thank God, God perseveres his
- 45:44people. Father, I want to praise you and thank
- 45:48you for your faithfulness. Thank you for your
- 45:50word. To you be honor and glory forever and ever.
- 45:54In Jesus' name.
