- 0:10Speaker 1: driving range, a short game practice area, thirty to forty
- 0:14Speaker 1: yard practice shots. It's a great place to chip and
- 0:16Speaker 1: putt and practice. If you don't have time for a
- 0:19Speaker 1: full round, book your tea time today. Golf dot Breck
- 0:23Speaker 1: dot org. Golf dot Breck dot org. The NFL Owners
- 0:26Speaker 1: meetings happened Tuesday in Florida. I got Ross Jackson was
- 0:30Speaker 1: there for Louisiana Sports DoD Net, Kellen Moore or Allenmore.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Ellenmore met with reporters there for about forty five minutes
- 0:40Speaker 1: and they covered a lot of ground. But the thing
- 0:42Speaker 1: that I was really interested in where they kind of
- 0:44Speaker 1: zeroed in a little bit was quarterback and not just
- 0:47Speaker 1: Derek Carr, because I think we all understand now with
- 0:49Speaker 1: the restructure of the contract, like Derek Carr is going
- 0:52Speaker 1: to be in New Orleans for twenty twenty five. All
- 0:55Speaker 1: of the scenarios that some are suggesting about a trade
- 0:58Speaker 1: potentially none of that makes sense. Yes, you could trade
- 1:03Speaker 1: Derek Carr post June one and say fifty million dollars
- 1:06Speaker 1: this year. That doesn't do you a look of good.
- 1:09Speaker 1: You've already done the damage to your cap for the
- 1:11Speaker 1: future years. Trying to get under the cap this year
- 1:14Speaker 1: to spend in free agency like a post June one
- 1:17Speaker 1: trade for Derek Carr does nothing for you whatsoever. So
- 1:21Speaker 1: Derek Carr is going to be on your roster in
- 1:23Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. It's interesting, though, about what's beyond him,
- 1:27Speaker 1: in particular because of how aggressively the Saints have been
- 1:33Speaker 1: pursuing quarterbacks in this draft class. They were at the
- 1:37Speaker 1: Ole Miss pro Da looking at Jackson Dart. They're gonna
- 1:40Speaker 1: host Quinn Ewers on the top thirty. They had dinner
- 1:42Speaker 1: with Quinn Eewers. They've met individually with Kyle McCord of
- 1:46Speaker 1: Syracuse like. They are very clearly, very clearly doing a
- 1:50Speaker 1: lot of due diligence on quarterbacks. And Kellen Moore, can
- 1:55Speaker 1: you play number five please? He was talking about planning
- 2:00Speaker 1: for the future at quarterback.
- 2:02Speaker 2: I think every team in the NFL is always trying
- 2:05Speaker 2: to bring in quarterbacks and development under any circumstances. So
- 2:08Speaker 2: everyone does homework every year on the quarterbacks. It's a
- 2:10Speaker 2: very valuable position. And so obviously we feel like we
- 2:13Speaker 2: have some. We have Derek, who's played a ton of
- 2:15Speaker 2: football and would feel great about and then we have
- 2:17Speaker 2: you know, certainly our organization is invested in quarterbacks the
- 2:19Speaker 2: last few years with Spencer, Jake and then Ben, and
- 2:22Speaker 2: so you know, we got a number of guys that
- 2:24Speaker 2: we're excited to develop as wealking.
- 2:25Speaker 1: So Ben, of course is Ben Denucci, Spencer Rattler, Jake Hayner.
- 2:29Speaker 1: That's three, Derek carrs four, and if you go draft
- 2:31Speaker 1: a quarterback that would be five. The writing would be
- 2:33Speaker 1: on the wall for Ben de Nucci at that point.
- 2:35Speaker 1: But maybe the more important part of what Kellen Moore said,
- 2:39Speaker 1: excuse me, Allen Moore, Allen Moore too, that's never going
- 2:43Speaker 1: to get old. Maybe it might get a little old,
- 2:46Speaker 1: but I still love it was the fact that, remember
- 2:50Speaker 1: last year, the Saints went into the off season or
- 2:54Speaker 1: into training camp with a battle between Rattler and hayn
- 2:58Speaker 1: for the number two job, ilan Moore said, pretty definitively,
- 3:08Speaker 1: they ain't doing that this year.
- 3:09Speaker 2: In almost every circumstance you want to have it to
- 3:11Speaker 2: find going in the season, you got to know who
- 3:13Speaker 2: your back quarterback is and just understand there's progression there,
- 3:16Speaker 2: and you know, not gonna say never ever, but you know,
- 3:20Speaker 2: feel like it's pretty strong. Just because of the reps
- 3:23Speaker 2: in season. You have to have it set in a
- 3:24Speaker 2: certain way. Really, the third guy in a regular season
- 3:28Speaker 2: only gets so many reps. It's hard to have three guys.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Okay, that's fascinating. That's your coach telling you that in
- 3:35Speaker 1: almost every scenario you want to have your backup quarterback
- 3:40Speaker 1: to find going into the season. So right now, there's
- 3:44Speaker 1: two guys that Ben Denucci's gonna be out, but there's
- 3:46Speaker 1: two guys there he didn't draft, So none of us
- 3:50Speaker 1: knows what he thinks about Rattler and Hainter. We know
- 3:53Speaker 1: what the last staff felt because Rattler beat out Hayter,
- 3:57Speaker 1: but he didn't draft either of those guys. So what
- 3:59Speaker 1: if they go into this draft and they take a quarterback, Well,
- 4:03Speaker 1: you better believe at least one of those guys, Rattler
- 4:05Speaker 1: Haynter are gone. It's hard to imagine carrying them all
- 4:09Speaker 1: into camp. Is there any trade value whatsoever? Maybe you're
- 4:15Speaker 1: talking about a couple of Day three picks that haven't
- 4:18Speaker 1: played It's hard to imagine you getting any type of resource,
- 4:22Speaker 1: anything really of value at all for those players, either
- 4:26Speaker 1: of those players. So that's part of this, to see
- 4:29Speaker 1: what the Saints do in the draft. The most fascinating
- 4:34Speaker 1: part of this, though, I think, is going to be
- 4:35Speaker 1: at the top of the draft. Now I've given you
- 4:37Speaker 1: my opinion on it plenty. I would love Quinn Eewers
- 4:40Speaker 1: at late Day two, early day three pick. If you
- 4:43Speaker 1: want to use a Day three pick on Kyle McCord, fine,
- 4:46Speaker 1: I've given you the nickel slot analogy a ton. Drafting
- 4:50Speaker 1: quarterbacks late is like the nickel slots. Low risk, potential,
- 4:53Speaker 1: high reward. You keep feeding the nickel slot till you
- 4:56Speaker 1: hit a jackpot, keep taking one every year until you
- 4:58Speaker 1: hit And you know the list of guys. I had
- 5:01Speaker 1: someone message me earlier today say, ah, you're not finding
- 5:04Speaker 1: a Tom Brady in round six. No kidding, You're not
- 5:06Speaker 1: finding the greatest quarterback of all time. I'm not looking
- 5:09Speaker 1: for Tom Brady, Jack Leg. I'm looking for a guy
- 5:11Speaker 1: that could be a starter in this league, in our league.
- 5:15Speaker 1: That's what I'm looking for.
- 5:18Speaker 2: In our league.
- 5:19Speaker 1: That's what I'm looking for. You ain't got that, could
- 5:25Speaker 1: you find dak in round four? Could you find Kirk
- 5:28Speaker 1: Cousins in round five? Could you find Brock Purdy in
- 5:31Speaker 1: round seven? Could you find Tony Romo? One drafted free agent?
- 5:35Speaker 1: I'm not telling you you're gonna find Tom freaking Brady.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Can I find someone that could be a viable starter
- 5:41Speaker 1: and help you win and get your cap back in order?
- 5:43Speaker 1: That's what I'm looking for in the mid to late rounds.
- 5:45Speaker 1: A quarterback. So you want to take a flyer on
- 5:47Speaker 1: these guys every year? Fine, it's a whole bunch of
- 5:50Speaker 1: dudes you're taking the draft every year that are never
- 5:52Speaker 1: making the team. So yeah, I'm gonna be good with
- 5:56Speaker 1: that for perpetually until they find a frinch quarterback. There's
- 6:00Speaker 1: gonna be here for a decade. The other part of
- 6:04Speaker 1: the conversation, though, is the top of the draft, and
- 6:08Speaker 1: the name that keeps kind of popping up more and
- 6:10Speaker 1: more is Shadur Sanders, because if you follow the draft buzz,
- 6:13Speaker 1: all the buzzes that he's slipping on draft boards. Who
- 6:15Speaker 1: knows what to believe? This is the time in the
- 6:17Speaker 1: draft where everybody talks crap and agents plant stories and
- 6:20Speaker 1: you never know what to believe, and there's always this
- 6:23Speaker 1: guy ten years ago made a Twitter post that somebody
- 6:26Speaker 1: found a fence and who knows all right, anyway, so
- 6:28Speaker 1: you're hearing that stuff about Schauduur. Now for the draft,
- 6:30Speaker 1: I don't know. But here's what I'll say definitively is
- 6:33Speaker 1: that at nine, if Shadur falls to nine, I'm totally
- 6:38Speaker 1: okay drafting him at nine. I'd be over the moon.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Drafting Shaudar Sanders at nine. Trading up to take Shadur,
- 6:46Speaker 1: I would not be okay with that because I look
- 6:49Speaker 1: at what you look at precedent, right, For example, the Niners.
- 6:56Speaker 1: The Niners when they took Trey Lance third, went up
- 6:58Speaker 1: nine spots. They went from twelve to the Saints are
- 7:00Speaker 1: at nine, so they'd have to go up six spots
- 7:02Speaker 1: from nine to three, but they gave up. The Niners
- 7:08Speaker 1: did three ones in a three. They did a pick
- 7:10Speaker 1: swap their next two years first round picks, and a
- 7:14Speaker 1: three for the Saints, who are as bad roster as
- 7:17Speaker 1: they are. You don't have, like you need all of
- 7:20Speaker 1: your draft capital to get younger and more affordable. You
- 7:23Speaker 1: can't go giving up that many picks for the shot
- 7:27Speaker 1: at a quarterback, like if you were doing that for
- 7:29Speaker 1: a proven, established young veterans. Cool, Like if you were
- 7:32Speaker 1: doing that for Joe Burrow in a millisecond, you do
- 7:34Speaker 1: it because you know what you got. The draft is
- 7:36Speaker 1: still a risk to a degree. Look at Trey Lance,
- 7:39Speaker 1: Look at Bryce Young. I mean the Panthers a couple
- 7:41Speaker 1: of years ago did that. They went from they went
- 7:43Speaker 1: from nine to one for Bryce Young. So if they
- 7:48Speaker 1: could go back and undo it, you think they would
- 7:50Speaker 1: better believe they probably keep Baker Mayfield around. Guys won
- 7:52Speaker 1: the division the past couple of years. Anyway. But it's
- 7:56Speaker 1: interesting too about Shadur because, like with all of this conversation,
- 8:01Speaker 1: now this Chase Daniel clip from about two months ago
- 8:04Speaker 1: is resurfaced. So Chase Daniel, the former Saints quarterback, does
- 8:07Speaker 1: a podcast called The Facility, and this was January thirty first,
- 8:11Speaker 1: so that remember this is before the Super Bowl, all right,
- 8:15Speaker 1: so this is two months ago, Chase Daniel. I guess
- 8:19Speaker 1: that's two months yeah, sorry, two three months ago? Yeah,
- 8:25Speaker 1: end of January. It was January thirty first. Then, so
- 8:30Speaker 1: two months ago. Math, bro, you want to diagram a
- 8:34Speaker 1: sentence on your guy, you want to do long division.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I ain't your guy anyway, Chase Daniel two months ago,
- 8:44Speaker 1: this is two months ago, said this about Schadura the Saints.
- 8:47Speaker 3: These are the top ten picks, but who needs a quarterback? Titans, Brown's, Giants, Raiders, Jets, Saints.
- 8:53Speaker 3: If you really look at all those franchises, bro, all
- 8:55Speaker 3: of them are not great. Right now, If you go
- 8:58Speaker 3: to the Saints and you sit behind car for a
- 9:00Speaker 3: year and you run if Kellen Moore is a head coach,
- 9:03Speaker 3: I think that's the best situation for Shador, like to
- 9:06Speaker 3: not rush him onto the not that they say he
- 9:07Speaker 3: can't have success, right, But I don't know if any
- 9:09Speaker 3: of those top six to seven picks are great situations
- 9:13Speaker 3: for Shador because when you get drafted, I agree with
- 9:16Speaker 3: wholeheartedly what Jay said. It all it takes is one
- 9:18Speaker 3: GM to like you and one team to fall in
- 9:20Speaker 3: love with you. All thirty one others in the first
- 9:22Speaker 3: round could hate you, but if they really feel a
- 9:25Speaker 3: certain way about you, they will draft you. Regardless of
- 9:28Speaker 3: what Dion says. But I'm just saying, if you look
- 9:30Speaker 3: at the top ten picks, it's just the Saints for
- 9:33Speaker 3: me make a ton of sense.
- 9:35Speaker 1: But so I'm with it for all A lot of
- 9:38Speaker 1: people will will push back on that. I love shoudor
- 9:42Speaker 1: I've loved him for two years of Colorado for a
- 9:44Speaker 1: lot of reasons, I've ticked off he He got crushed
- 9:47Speaker 1: behind a terrible offensive line, never complained, super athletic, really
- 9:53Speaker 1: good passer. Was hard to even believe. But in the
- 9:57Speaker 1: shadows of Travis Hunter and still was all. He's Prime's kid.
- 10:02Speaker 1: He's made a ton of money. He continues to go
- 10:04Speaker 1: to school and work real hard, like money hasn't changed
- 10:07Speaker 1: him or his work ethic or any of those things.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Exceled at that level, like got the pedigree with being
- 10:15Speaker 1: Dion's kid, Like I love all of that. You could say, well,
- 10:18Speaker 1: you have the the the looming father, like a LeVar
- 10:22Speaker 1: Ball situation. I don't see it like that at all.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I mean, Dion has old, has held his players accountable,
- 10:28Speaker 1: including his children, Like I think it checks a ton
- 10:30Speaker 1: of boxes. If Chadur's there at nine, they take him,
- 10:33Speaker 1: I'm over the moon. What I'm not okay with is
- 10:36Speaker 1: giving up three ones to move up in this draft
- 10:40Speaker 1: to take a quarterback like that, I'm not good with.
- 10:43Speaker 1: There's there's literally two scenarios in this draft where I
- 10:46Speaker 1: will be pissed trading up from nine or taking Ashton
- 10:51Speaker 1: Genty at nine. Those are the And it's not that
- 10:53Speaker 1: Gent's a bad player, it's just the things have so
- 10:55Speaker 1: many needs and there's no position that depreciates faster than
- 10:59Speaker 1: running back. Like that's not helping you win. So that's
- 11:03Speaker 1: the only two scenarios. Literally, Anything else they do at nine,
- 11:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna be okay with. But if you move up
- 11:09Speaker 1: from nine or draft aft Ashton Jenty, I'm gonna be pissed.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Everything else I'd be good with. But the most fascinating
- 11:16Speaker 1: thing to see is Kellen Moore sitting here telling you
- 11:18Speaker 1: you are always evaluating quarterbacks and always looking to get better,
- 11:21Speaker 1: and they are actively pursuing quarterbacks in this draft. And
- 11:24Speaker 1: if that's the case and they want their backups solidified
- 11:27Speaker 1: by the time they start training camp, what does that
- 11:30Speaker 1: mean for Ratler and Hanter, Because if you go draft
- 11:31Speaker 1: a quarterback, you better believe they're hitching their wagon to
- 11:33Speaker 1: their guy behind Derek Carr and then you make that
- 11:36Speaker 1: decision in twenty twenty six after this season. But the
- 11:39Speaker 1: Rattler Hayner experiment could be over if in fact that's
- 11:42Speaker 1: the way that they they want to go in this
- 11:44Speaker 1: draft by taking a quarterback anywhere in the draft. Something
- 11:47Speaker 1: to watch
