- 0:00SPEAKER_04: In this episode, we're talking about the English Hockey League.
- 0:04SPEAKER_04: Did they actually step up their game for these playoffs?
- 0:06SPEAKER_04: We're talking about Yupes game.
- 0:08SPEAKER_04: We're talking about some other news.
- 0:10SPEAKER_04: We're talking about Let's Stick Together rewards, which are like way better than the other rewards.
- 0:16SPEAKER_04: And we go very, very briefly into the cook.
- 0:20SPEAKER_04: Enjoy.
- 0:38SPEAKER_03: Right, welcome to episode three of Let's Stick It Together.
- 0:42SPEAKER_03: Um, brought to you by Y1 Hockey.
- 0:45SPEAKER_03: We haven't done a shameless Y1 plug in a while.
- 0:47SPEAKER_03: Have either of you got anything to plug?
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: No, they're not paying us yet, so I'm not plugging anything.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: But they're paying me a lot of money, so I'll uh I'll chip in here.
- 0:58SPEAKER_04: Uh lot of brand.
- 1:00SPEAKER_04: I had a I had a photo shoot last like four weeks ago.
- 1:04SPEAKER_04: Went went very well.
- 1:07SPEAKER_04: So go go buy your new uh gear.
- 1:11SPEAKER_04: There's there's a new line coming.
- 1:14SPEAKER_04: First, it was Tokyo, then it was Eco, then it was uh something else, and now what will it be?
- 1:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the new range is coming soon.
- 1:24SPEAKER_03: Go and check it out.
- 1:24SPEAKER_03: They've done some cool reels to be fair.
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: Go and check them out on Instagram.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: Why won't chat?
- 1:29SPEAKER_03: We also did a cool uh um shoot a couple of weeks ago.
- 1:33SPEAKER_03: Me and Brent got paired together for a task, and it was I reckon their results are gonna be pretty funny.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: We were quite good.
- 1:40SPEAKER_03: I went weirdly, yeah.
- 1:42SPEAKER_04: I was I was together with uh Frey Kmoos and uh Stuttler and together with uh Nathan from uh and NMF and yeah NMF Hockey.
- 1:53SPEAKER_04: Uh he came up with an idea and he he listens to the pot and he um who knows uh I'm an idiot.
- 1:59SPEAKER_04: That's what it comes down to.
- 2:01SPEAKER_04: So he he he he I really told myself I was not gonna make a fool out of myself.
- 2:06SPEAKER_04: I ended up making a fool out of myself.
- 2:08SPEAKER_04: Um we we recreated a video of the overlapping uh halfback.
- 2:14SPEAKER_04: Like, wait, wait, wait, all that, all that and uh I really I was like, no, I'm not gonna do this.
- 2:23SPEAKER_04: Like Freke was holding the ball, so I'll so I felt a little self-conscious already.
- 2:27SPEAKER_04: Like uh like I know Freke pretty well, but like not that good.
- 2:31SPEAKER_04: So I was really very self-conscious, and then I got over a point where I was like, okay, fuck it, I'm gonna do this.
- 2:36SPEAKER_04: And uh I haven't seen it completely back yet, but I think I will come out as people will.
- 2:42SPEAKER_04: I think everyone who follows Y1 now will know I'm a complete dipshit.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: Our our photo shoot was pretty funny because it I'm not gonna give too much away, but it consisted of like a morning of like shooting on the pitch and like doing some stuff.
- 2:57SPEAKER_03: It was me, Brendan, uh Ollie Payne, and James Aubrey.
- 3:02SPEAKER_03: And um, and then the afternoon was like a big task thing that we did around London.
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: But the starting, it was freezing cold, and Payno had to kit up, and Payno doesn't really like doing stuff on his rest day, so it was hard enough getting him there.
- 3:17SPEAKER_03: The first, what the second shot that we had, Aubrey decided to half volley it into his nuts from 11 yards away, and he completely lost himself, and we were all trying trying not to laugh at the same time as like feel a bit sorry for him slash want to do it again.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: That was a tough day.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: It was a tough day for Pano, bless him.
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: Um, right.
- 3:43SPEAKER_04: Aubrey Aubrey seems seems like um like the guy to do that though, if that makes sense.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: He like he's like your giggles afterwards as well, so you get even more annoyed, or you find it really funny.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: There's no like in-between because he's like a little bit I really I really like him because we I I've I find myself bonding with him over golf quite a lot.
- 4:02SPEAKER_04: Um, so I like I really like him.
- 4:05SPEAKER_04: He seems like the guy to like to pull something like that off.
- 4:08SPEAKER_04: Like it's not surprising to me that out of you you lot he was the one to hit it in the balls.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: He's an antagonist, and yeah, yeah, he he really, really want he's he's very happy to wind you up and be a shithouse.
- 4:21SPEAKER_03: So well done.
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: That's a good that was a good plug.
- 4:23SPEAKER_03: Y one go get your stuff.
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: Um, we had you before we come on to our main section about we did the EH finals this weekend.
- 4:32SPEAKER_03: I'll just touch on your weekend.
- 4:36SPEAKER_03: Good point.
- 4:38SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 4:41SPEAKER_03: Seems a bit cutting, but alright.
- 4:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you deserve it.
- 4:45SPEAKER_04: How did you get on, you uh we didn't play this weekend.
- 4:50SPEAKER_04: Uh just took the week off.
- 4:54SPEAKER_04: We we lost.
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: We lost 2-1 against Rotterdam.
- 4:57SPEAKER_04: We had a really good game last week against Pinocchio where we won 3-1.
- 5:01SPEAKER_04: We we we thought uh we thought we could actually play good hockey.
- 5:05SPEAKER_04: Uh, and then Rotterdam uh shoved it right back into our face.
- 5:10SPEAKER_04: They actually played a decent game.
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: We it wasn't too bad of a game first quarter.
- 5:14SPEAKER_04: They should have been up big already because they got a couple big chances.
- 5:18SPEAKER_04: Uh second half, we should have gotten at least four corners, I believe, and we only got one.
- 5:24SPEAKER_04: Um, it didn't didn't have anything to do with the people playing, had to do with two other guys who were accidentally on the field in yellow.
- 5:33SPEAKER_04: We all know who we're talking about, but I'm not gonna name them anymore.
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: They don't even deserve to be named.
- 5:37SPEAKER_04: No, I'm kidding.
- 5:38SPEAKER_04: They he he saw it differently, but it should have been two corners, and we never really really got into the game.
- 5:43SPEAKER_04: I scored, which was uh yeah, uh the classic uh back to the injector four and slap, uh uh, which we haven't played in a year because everyone knew it, and now everyone kind of forgot that I was there, but it was uh not really uh worth uh worth a lot because they then scored the 2-1 and end of game.
- 6:05SPEAKER_03: Give me your props though.
- 6:07SPEAKER_03: You you scored you've scored a lot of goals over the years from the injector spot, like either deflection or slap.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: Like you you're actually very good at it for a center back.
- 6:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:20SPEAKER_04: I I that that that's like where like 95% of my goals are like uh either back to the deck, back in the deflection of the injector or like the forehand slap of the injector.
- 6:31SPEAKER_04: Uh the other five percent is like uh are pretty good goals, which are like the only two goals, only three goals I've scored in fields were like pretty good, or it was and one was uh back stick, but the rest was pretty good.
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: Brendan is also surprisingly good in training at the back T injector.
- 6:49SPEAKER_03: It's just it's just they're too scared to call it in a game, I think.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it never gets called.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: Um, I've got two things, you one was a really good goal.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: I actually really enjoyed watching it.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: Uh two, does that not make your league's now a lot tighter now, isn't it, for that fourth-fifth position now?
- 7:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it made it made the league like uh uh I'm gonna knock on wood.
- 7:14SPEAKER_04: I don't want to jinx it.
- 7:15SPEAKER_04: Like we we really have to fuck up to not make it.
- 7:17SPEAKER_04: Um, because we're seven points clear of the number five.
- 7:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 7:22SPEAKER_04: Uh and top four makes it in Holland, and we have a game in hand.
- 7:25SPEAKER_04: So if we now don't make it, uh I think I have to quit at the way he wrote quit.
- 7:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's on you at at all.
- 7:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, then it's on me.
- 7:33SPEAKER_04: I I agree.
- 7:34SPEAKER_04: Uh so I but like the fourth, the the fifth, fourth, and third spot are like within two points of each other, so it's like very tight over there, or like three points or whatever.
- 7:45SPEAKER_04: Um, yeah, but it's really it's a close, uh, close call.
- 7:48SPEAKER_04: I think Blumenau and us are too far away to catch up.
- 7:52SPEAKER_04: Um, but yeah, it's it's good for the competition because it made it a lot more interesting.
- 7:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, nice.
- 7:57SPEAKER_04: And Brendan, you know what you have to do?
- 7:59SPEAKER_04: It's like as a as someone who gets the the bulb as an injector quite often.
- 8:04SPEAKER_04: After every corner, when you come into the hodo, yo, I think I'm open.
- 8:08SPEAKER_04: Just say whenever someone is going to make a call, you're like, Yeah, I'm pretty open as well, guys.
- 8:13SPEAKER_04: And eventually they'll just say, Yeah, fuck it, that's right.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: The problem is you because I say so much shit that people now just don't listen to me.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: So now it's I just don't I don't even bother, it's not even worth it because people aren't listening anyway.
- 8:25SPEAKER_04: Do you realize who you're talking to?
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but sometimes you probably come up with something decent, whereas I don't.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, fair.
- 8:33SPEAKER_04: I speak, I speak a lot of facts, I only talk straight facts.
- 8:38SPEAKER_03: We'll ride past that one.
- 8:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right.
- 8:40SPEAKER_03: We'll we'll we'll move on to so.
- 8:42SPEAKER_03: First of all, we we uh had so yeah, we the EH finals, um, which we previewed a little bit last week, happened.
- 8:49SPEAKER_03: Um Surbiton women and uh old Georgian's men won the titles.
- 8:55SPEAKER_03: Uh the um Surbiton and Hampstead for the women made the Euro Hockey League, whereas uh OG Serbiton and Wimbledon made the Euro Hockey League for next year.
- 9:07SPEAKER_03: Um I did some commentary.
- 9:10SPEAKER_03: Brendan got into the final.
- 9:13SPEAKER_03: Um Brenn, first of all, how was your experience of the weekend?
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: Uh firstly, I will correct you, Philip.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: Uh, Serbiton women got into EHL, but Ham said women are in the lower league of that Euro competition.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: They didn't make the cut, which is a bit it's a bit shit for the women's side from our league.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: Um but it's but it's just how it is.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, really good experience.
- 9:35SPEAKER_03: What do you call that then?
- 9:36SPEAKER_03: What do we call that?
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: So I don't know.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: I think it's like the EHF Club trophy or something, European Club Trophy or something else.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: I don't actually know.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: Say again the Siberia Cup.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: God's sake.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, experience was good.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: I thought it was actually a really good competition.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, I had a pretty good experience of it, gutted to not win, but at the same time, I actually thought OGs were better on the day, and they scored some pretty damn good goals.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: So kind of hats off to them.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: Um fully deserved and kind of yeah, a bit frustrating coming away with only second, but actually did pretty well.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: I came away injury free, which is quite nice from a personal point of view, so that's always good.
- 10:18SPEAKER_03: So I'm kind of less here, less of a less of a like interview style response, and more like I want more salt, more grit.
- 10:26SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 10:29SPEAKER_04: OG's are kind of antagonists, right?
- 10:31SPEAKER_04: They're there are they're a bunch of but a bunch of dickheads, right?
- 10:34SPEAKER_04: Uh Brendan.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: They weren't really.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: I'll be honest with you, I didn't really have any interactions like that this time.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: Like last time, last time we played them, Carson dived, and I lost my head in the first three minutes and told him to get the fuck up.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: That was my game last time.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: Whereas this time he didn't dive once because I already told him before the game, don't dive.
- 10:52SPEAKER_05: Um his brother is in there as well, right?
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: Two brothers.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: There's three of them.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: Three.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:59unknown: Yeah.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: It's Carnage.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: Um, I want to say I do want to raise one thing before we get into it.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Before you start, Brendan.
- 11:07SPEAKER_03: Okay, rank the Carsons one, two, three.
- 11:09SPEAKER_03: Go.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: Uh that's tough.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: Uh Tom, number one.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: Jimmy and Ed, I feel are kind of on the same level, and then George, the fourth one's at the bottom.
- 11:21SPEAKER_04: Who's the no uh I I who is um who's the one uh the like the the bulky striker that that runs a lot and hits hits hard.
- 11:31SPEAKER_04: That's that's all three of them.
- 11:33SPEAKER_03: No, that's that's Jimmy and Tom.
- 11:36SPEAKER_03: Tom.
- 11:37SPEAKER_04: Who did you rank first?
- 11:39SPEAKER_04: Tom.
- 11:40SPEAKER_04: Is he the drag flicker?
- 11:42SPEAKER_04: The Y1 guy?
- 11:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:46SPEAKER_04: He's second.
- 11:47SPEAKER_04: He's not the best out of them.
- 11:49SPEAKER_04: No, fuck that.
- 11:50SPEAKER_04: This is the other guy with the blend with the with the with the headband in the long hair.
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: He was quite giving it Jimmy's number one.
- 11:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think so.
- 11:58SPEAKER_04: Okay, at least I've watched I've I gotta be honest, I've watched one old Georginius games uh game all my life, and that game I thought he was better than Tom.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: The three, to be fair, the three of them are all very actually very effective in their own right.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: Um I've I witnessed something on the weekend that I've never witnessed before, and our federation decided to change the rules coming into the finals weekend, and I've never witnessed this before.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: So the whole season we've been playing 70 minutes, four quarters, uh, no stoppages for PCAs, no stoppages for PCD, like normal, like normal hockey rules.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: And then this weekend they decided to make it 4.15, so they cut the game shorter, and then they brought in the 40 seconds rule for corners, so there were multiple cards for that, and then they brought in the stoppages for goals as well.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: And like, I just thought, what a fucking shambles to like change rules on the biggest tournament like side of things, and then they were like, right, yeah, we're gonna have international standard rules.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: I was like, yeah, fine, and then automatically got into an argument with an all with an uh umpire because I was like, if you're gonna have international rules, you've got to umpire like an international and you're not.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: So I was like, I just lost my head quite early doors.
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: The umpire, and I thought I thought it was a bit of a fucking shambles from Federation, to be honest with you.
- 13:20SPEAKER_01: If I'm if I'm being pretty blunt.
- 13:24SPEAKER_03: Okay, nice.
- 13:25SPEAKER_03: I mean, I didn't know any of that.
- 13:27SPEAKER_03: Like I said, I was I was involved a little bit.
- 13:29SPEAKER_03: I went down Serban again, did a did a good job hosting, like, because I think they could do with the few more seats around.
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: Um, and the the there was a few experiences of the live stream not being great, so they did.
- 13:42SPEAKER_03: I got asked to do some commentary, which was good fun.
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: It felt quite professional.
- 13:46SPEAKER_03: I had a bit of pressure because we do this, and so maybe there's some kind of assumption that like I'm good at it, which which I which I was trying to tell people that's not the case.
- 13:55SPEAKER_03: Um, but it was very professional, was with uh Dan Strange, who does all the pro league stuff.
- 14:00SPEAKER_03: They had uh producer, an editor, it was it was a bit mental, it was good, but apparently the stream the cameras weren't very good.
- 14:08SPEAKER_03: So my biggest thing is like for people who can't come, you know, the Dutch are setting an example where they have now like TV standard cameras at every game, and you get a really good experience.
- 14:20SPEAKER_03: But it was one of them cameras that pan uh automatically, but not manually, and so so automatically that's not very good.
- 14:29SPEAKER_03: No one uses it in top-level sports, so I don't understand why they think it's a good thing.
- 14:32SPEAKER_03: Apparently, the replays weren't great.
- 14:34SPEAKER_03: So I've just I've just got to think that like when you're trying to have a successful finals weekend, which everyone wants, for the people who can't come, you need to put the effort and the money in.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: So who do you think should be putting the money in?
- 14:47SPEAKER_03: Well, I don't know the ins and outs of that one, Brent, but I just mean because I'll I'll speak from the club point of view.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: The club aren't making any money on that weekend.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: So at the moment the club are coming net like roughly net level, probably not, but like they're not making any money over that weekend.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: So I don't think it should be the club responsibility to then provide a cameraman full camera works because they can't afford it.
- 15:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, I mean you're asking you're asking a question we can't answer, but we're we're saying well, no, I feel we are answering that question.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: That should be should I think it should be a governing body thing.
- 15:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:21SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 15:21SPEAKER_03: Well, I mean, if have you got anything else, I mean it was it was decent, but I still think there's a lot of room to improve, and that you can probably use the models uh in in Europe and other stuff.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: One hundred one hundred percent.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: And it's the showcase event of the year.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: Like, I think it should be a governing body interest to put money where the mouth is, rather than like I understand that, and I also agree like quite a lot of people.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: Basically, I wrote down quite a few comments from people um on the live stream.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: Uh, one of them, worst YouTube video since Jihadi John, which I thought was pretty offensive.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: So the Rabbit123 wrote, please have a word with the cameraman.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: Is he drunk?
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: They hadn't realized it was automated, thick bastards.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: Uh Badirchens put the combination of poor camera work and commentators who don't comment on the game makes this for a very difficult viewing disappointing.
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: Uh, Ross Stock, terrible.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: James Bateman filmed on a potato.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: Theo PS, camera work is terrible.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: Uh JK Hockey, live stream awful, but has been all season at Serviton.
- 16:18SPEAKER_04: You know what?
- 16:19SPEAKER_04: You know what, Brent?
- 16:20SPEAKER_04: Brent, we get it.
- 16:21SPEAKER_04: Your league sucks, cameras sucks, England hockey sucks.
- 16:24SPEAKER_04: Let's move on.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: Let me just add one more thing.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: Uh, why not let East Grinstead host this?
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: That person was clearly fucking stupid as well, because that's a terrible suggestion.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: So, all in all, I agree with a lot of people.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: Like, it wasn't perfect, but it is getting better each year.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: It's just going to take a while.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: Um, and I think it should be shared around.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: I think it should be shared to other clubs that can host it.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: However, East Grinstead is not one of those because they have got arguably the worst video facility that Phil has been shown firsthand.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: It's not worth it.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: Let's move on.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: I think it's great.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: Lies, absolute lies.
- 17:00SPEAKER_03: Right, before we go on to the main bulk of the episode, I did just want to bring this up, just as like part of our news and stuff.
- 17:06SPEAKER_03: And I wanted to quickly talk about David Goodfield.
- 17:09SPEAKER_03: Um, just because if for anyone who doesn't know, he has been he's the captain of Serbiton, and he has also been the head coach of Richmond Hockey Club, and basically, like I wanted to like it was an only-in-hockey kind of experience that I can explain.
- 17:24SPEAKER_03: He he took the job, quite a lot of guys do it, where you do a bit of coaching on the side, but he took quite a successful team who got promoted into the a league below the Premier League, and then this year his aim was to stay up and uh keep the team in the in the league below.
- 17:42SPEAKER_03: Uh, they play on Sundays, so it's quite a nice match.
- 17:45SPEAKER_03: Now, what happened is uh they they won the league, so now Richmond are in the Premier League next year, who he is the captain of Surbiton, who also play in the Premier League.
- 17:55SPEAKER_03: So he's now got a situation where he can't carry on coaching a team who he's coached into the Premier League, and he's the captain of Serbiton.
- 18:04SPEAKER_03: So it's just an only in hockey situation.
- 18:07SPEAKER_03: I thought I'd comment and tell people because you like it was never gonna happen, and something that I'm sure Yupe is probably a little bit baffled by as well.
- 18:16SPEAKER_03: What do you think, Yup?
- 18:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, the uh the yeah, their fault.
- 18:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it only happened in England this don't don't generalize, don't make it about hockey.
- 18:27SPEAKER_04: It's England.
- 18:31SPEAKER_03: So goodness, I know you listen.
- 18:34SPEAKER_03: We look forward to seeing your um your choice and maybe we can get maybe we can do an interview, like a call-in with him.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: When he's made his decision, the official announcement.
- 18:46SPEAKER_03: Call him, yeah, call him now.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: No, he's not made his decision yet.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: Why would he call him now?
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: Maybe he wants to make a review on the podcast.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: No, he's never been anything but skeptical about the podcast, so no.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: Good at Phil, do not ring him.
- 19:00SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 19:01SPEAKER_01: Fuck fuck him, he loves the podcast.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: He's a secret listener.
- 19:05SPEAKER_01: He's one of them that like tries to play it cool that he doesn't, but he does.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: Phil, don't call him, it's not worth calling him.
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: He's not gonna give you an answer.
- 19:13SPEAKER_05: Hello, Phil.
- 19:14SPEAKER_05: Why do I have the pleasure?
- 19:17SPEAKER_03: Dave, you'll you'll you'll you're on the podcast.
- 19:21SPEAKER_03: We're just doing some recording.
- 19:30SPEAKER_05: I don't yeah, I'm still there.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: You you you wanted me to call you.
- 19:38SPEAKER_05: You wanted me to say again.
- 19:39SPEAKER_03: You wanted me to call you.
- 19:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah, okay.
- 19:42SPEAKER_03: Uh, because you we were just talking about your situation with Richmond and Serbiton.
- 19:47unknown: Okay.
- 19:48SPEAKER_03: And he and he wanted you to reveal what your decision is live on the podcast for next week.
- 19:55SPEAKER_05: Well, I'd love to give you a live decision, but I don't know the decision.
- 19:59SPEAKER_04: Well, it's anticlimatic, is it?
- 20:04SPEAKER_06: I'm really trying to disappoint you.
- 20:06SPEAKER_06: I have a decision to give you.
- 20:07SPEAKER_02: Okay, I'll call I'll call you next week with the same question.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: You've once again disappointed us, Goodfield.
- 20:12SPEAKER_05: I might have a decision next week.
- 20:16SPEAKER_03: Make up your fucking mind.
- 20:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you said make up your fucking mind.
- 20:20SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 20:21SPEAKER_05: What do you think I could do?
- 20:22SPEAKER_03: That's a good question.
- 20:24SPEAKER_04: Uh join over your vote.
- 20:26SPEAKER_04: We need a we need a good player.
- 20:31SPEAKER_03: He's a free option.
- 20:32SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: Bill, are you technically good as his agent right now?
- 20:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think so.
- 20:36SPEAKER_03: I think that's what's happened.
- 20:37SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 20:37SPEAKER_03: Well, really well.
- 20:39SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna go around the room.
- 20:40SPEAKER_03: I'll put you in contact.
- 20:42SPEAKER_03: I've got yeah, I'll sort you out a sweet deal.
- 20:44SPEAKER_03: They do long sleeve shirts.
- 20:45SPEAKER_03: Okay, Dave.
- 20:48SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 20:49SPEAKER_03: Well, this has been this has been good.
- 20:51SPEAKER_03: Thank you very much, Dave.
- 20:53SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 20:54SPEAKER_03: Bye.
- 20:54SPEAKER_02: Cheerio.
- 20:57SPEAKER_03: Oh, there's a first.
- 21:02SPEAKER_03: Right, on to the main segment of our episode, which is uh we are doing this.
- 21:06SPEAKER_03: This this episode is the awards episode.
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: Brendan's got his hand up.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I we discussed the masters bit.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: I thought we were gonna talk about the masters bit.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: There was a point, right?
- 21:16SPEAKER_01: Join the masters, I was watching it on Friday.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: You'll appreciate it.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: You'll appreciate this.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: So Masters on Friday, there was a point where there was Rory, uh Rory McElroy, Xander Shufle, and uh Scotty Scheffler playing.
- 21:34SPEAKER_04: I'm sorry.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: That's how you pronounce it, isn't it?
- 21:36SPEAKER_05: Shufle.
- 21:38SPEAKER_05: Shufle.
- 21:39SPEAKER_05: What is it?
- 21:40SPEAKER_05: Is it Shofler?
- 21:42SPEAKER_05: No, it's Shufley.
- 21:44SPEAKER_05: Well, it's definitely not Shoffley.
- 21:47SPEAKER_05: It's done in a Shufle.
- 21:49SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: In which case, in which case Xander Shafley.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: Right, and it's also not it.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: So there was Rory Shotty and Xander.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: Anyway, they were sat waiting for.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: I think it was the 16th um part three.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: They were sat there and they were all just chatting and joking around.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: And I thought this is actually one of the coolest things where you've got like the pinnacle of sports all playing, like in obviously the biggest competition in golf, and the three of them are all just like joking around with their caddies.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: I just want to note for everybody here.
- 22:21SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to tell a story, and Phil's on his phone, Yupe's on his phone.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: So at the moment, I am talking to absolutely no one.
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: Well, what you're doing actually is talking to the listeners.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but they're not obviously on right now, are they?
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: Anyway, um, they were just they were just sat there chilling, eating, like waiting for the group in front.
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: And I just thought this is actually one of the coolest things that I that you see in sport where like players just get on.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: Like, obviously, it's a big competition, but people kind of like don't take it personally, they just crack on.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: And I thought, like, are there any instances that we've had, like you, for example, your instance with Della Torre out in Argentina, where it's like you get those scenarios where people just like you just kind of almost lose yourself in the situation.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: You we can't read that.
- 23:07SPEAKER_03: It says uh say my name correctly with Xander Shoffley.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: Okay, and what and what does it say?
- 23:14unknown: My name is Xander Shoffley.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: Xander Shaffley! Who the fuck was right?
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: No, Shoffley, you dick.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: You're still saying it wrong, you tit.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: No, Xander Shoffley.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: My name is Xander Shoffley.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: Xander Shaffley.
- 23:31SPEAKER_04: Continue your boring story, Brendan.
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: Anyway, I just thought, like, are there any other instances that you've had where it's like that kind of thing where people have suddenly like just chilled out completely from the situation, almost like zoned out of the situation and just kind of like treat you as a bit of a human, like the Della Torre situation.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: Like there must be more instances of that.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: Or like, are there players that you can kind of like do that with on a pitch?
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: So, for example, like Inglesius, like the Spanish captain, like I get on really well with, and because he plays up front and I play at the back, we normally end up like chatting at some point during a game, like a referral or something.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: Like, he's one of those guys that I think like is really good for that kind of stuff.
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, I was just wondering if you guys have had any instances like that in games.
- 24:14SPEAKER_03: Well, you he tries to do it to me every time I'm near him, and I want nothing to do with it.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm not I'm not interested in your two love affair, I'm more interested in other players, not in the city.
- 24:25SPEAKER_04: It's a very it's it's a very one-sided love affair.
- 24:29SPEAKER_04: I always once in Argentina, I also caught Phil got the ball, and I I yelled at him to take me on, you little bitch.
- 24:35SPEAKER_04: Come one-on-one, and he mistrapped the ball and I started laughing at him.
- 24:39SPEAKER_04: I don't know if that's what you mean with lighthearted, because it was pretty intense, but that's the one instance I can read.
- 24:45SPEAKER_04: During video referrals, I always try and like talk to the opponent.
- 24:50SPEAKER_04: I always ask what they're referring, as it as if they're the biggest idiots there are.
- 24:55SPEAKER_04: What are you even referring?
- 24:56SPEAKER_04: I when I know it was on my foot.
- 25:00SPEAKER_03: I I I've got definitely a nice photo of joking around with Dixie and Minnes van der Veden a few years ago, because when a video referral takes about 20 minutes, and you just stood on the top of the being like in the end, you're just like we no one knows what they're gonna give, and you and generally you can you can team up with the other team against the umpires, which is pretty um yeah, pretty, pretty like I think that's a fairly common theme, I would say, of of of my interactions with the opposition.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: I think the other the other the other one that's quite unique is drugs testing, because I think like every at the end of the day, like in a similar way to like um umpires, I think when drugs testers come, everyone's like, for fuck's sake, don't be me, don't be me, don't be me, don't be me.
- 25:44SPEAKER_01: The minute you know it's you and it's in tournament, you're like, this is a fucking nightmare.
- 25:48SPEAKER_01: Because you're trying to get like food on, you want to go back, get showered, and instead you have to sit there and wait for somebody to watch you watch you go to the toilet, and it's like you just naturally just I think you just bond with the person that's there with you because you're both in just such a shit situation.
- 26:02SPEAKER_03: Do you not think that there's certain teams, international teams, that you do it more with at video referrals and drugs testing and stuff like that than others?
- 26:10SPEAKER_03: Because instantly I'm thinking like you have a lot of situ we have a lot of situations with certain international teams, then certain international teams, there's just none of that at all.
- 26:19SPEAKER_03: Like, you know what I mean?
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like Belgium, I think is one of them that I associated with because they like it always seems to be that way.
- 26:27SPEAKER_03: What that you never we never talk to them.
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: No, I always seem to end up talking to them because they refer a lot because of flipping Hendrix just peppers runners, so it always gets referred.
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: So I always end up just and being like, for fuck's sake, I know this is gonna be a corner again, but I'm like, I'm just gonna wait and I'm just gonna like play a little game with people being like, I don't think it hit my foot.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: It's like you've said, but knowing full well it's hit my foot.
- 26:49SPEAKER_04: I talk to every opponent, like if if it's the Spanish guys or Argentina guys, I just start saying the three Spanish words I know to them, which which I always think is kind of funny myself, and they don't think it's dead funny because it's it's like quesadilla hello.
- 27:08SPEAKER_03: Do you know what is a really funny one?
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: Like years and years ago, um, I had a we had a Spanish uh teammate at Wimbledon, and we roomed together, and he was top guy, Borja Lorenz.
- 27:20SPEAKER_03: He he played he now plays for Hurley in Holland.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: And um he was telling me, he showed me because uh Gonzo Payat did a post when we were like at the EHL, and it says like um it translates roughly to like will you join me?
- 27:36SPEAKER_03: And then it says where, and then he says to like to find love and happiness together, and it's a picture of him and his girlfriend.
- 27:43SPEAKER_03: And we were like, he was like, I need to teach you how to say that in Spanish so that you can ask him it on the pitch.
- 27:51SPEAKER_03: And I never I never learned it, but I was like, how big a shit housey would that be if you like have a stoppage and you just run over to Gonzo and be like, hey mate, will you join me for love and happiness?
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: Phil, that's one of the shittest videos, because shitty stories, because you didn't do it.
- 28:06SPEAKER_05: You didn't do it, so what was the point in that story?
- 28:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I agree.
- 28:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but you but you you were smiling, so I'm taking it as a good story.
- 28:14SPEAKER_03: Okay, cool.
- 28:15SPEAKER_04: Phil, I once I once I once wanted to buy like a lottery ticket and then would have won a million dollars, but I didn't.
- 28:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, fair.
- 28:25SPEAKER_03: Okay, cool.
- 28:28SPEAKER_04: Well, thanks for your small intermetro, Brendan.
- 28:30SPEAKER_04: That means we have to go to a break right now.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: I also have many good experiences.
- 28:35SPEAKER_03: No, it's okay, right.
- 28:36SPEAKER_03: We're gonna move on to a break because we haven't done any of the segment we wanted to.
- 28:40SPEAKER_03: We've I chit for 30 minutes now.
- 28:45SPEAKER_03: Right, part two.
- 28:46SPEAKER_03: We're back, and we're actually gonna try and talk about what we were meant to talk about this week, which was the awards.
- 28:53SPEAKER_03: We realized that we're four months, maybe five months late, but we're gonna do a very brief recap of what happened with the star awards in December.
- 29:03SPEAKER_03: Um, we're gonna do our own LST awards, it's back, and then we're gonna touch on some some other stuff, and if we've got time, we'll we'll nip into the coop for a quick a quick uh a quick drink and uh slice of craziness.
- 29:17SPEAKER_03: Okay, the awards in December.
- 29:20SPEAKER_03: Like first of all, I'll go on a small um rampage.
- 29:25SPEAKER_03: So for anyone who didn't know, Zandevaard and Hardik Singh have been selected FIH players of the year.
- 29:35SPEAKER_03: Um India's Savita and Dutch goalkeeper Perman Black won goalkeepers of the year.
- 29:41SPEAKER_03: Rising stars were Theresa Lima from Spain and Gaspard Xavier from France.
- 29:48SPEAKER_03: China's women head coach Alison Annan and Germans head coach Andre Henning won the Coach of the Years, and Ayana McLean and Ben Gontgen from Germany won the umpires of the year.
- 30:03SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, I've rattled through them.
- 30:06SPEAKER_03: I mean, most of them are a bit of a joke.
- 30:10SPEAKER_03: Uh we're not shocked by that.
- 30:13SPEAKER_03: Uh let's stick together.
- 30:14SPEAKER_03: I think we bitched enough about it last time to know that we're not shocked by that.
- 30:19SPEAKER_03: Um, could you both give me your takeaways or maybe the key takeaway from what you took from the award winners?
- 30:27SPEAKER_04: No.
- 30:28SPEAKER_04: No.
- 30:29SPEAKER_04: I will uh I'm happy.
- 30:31SPEAKER_04: Uh I'm happy Piramin won uh and Xander Wat won a bit of Dutch pride in there, but uh I think they were deservedly the winners.
- 30:40SPEAKER_04: Um I've I I've come to my senses on Hardik Singh, that I think Hardik is a really, really good hockey player.
- 30:48SPEAKER_04: I just don't think he's the best in the world right now.
- 30:51SPEAKER_04: Uh I've played a couple games against him where he was really good, but the awards were about 2023, in which he got injured at the World Cup, blah de blah de blah.
- 31:00SPEAKER_04: We told this a long time ago.
- 31:01SPEAKER_04: It should have been Weller uh or uh Brinkman, in my opinion.
- 31:07SPEAKER_04: Um I don't know enough about women goalies uh to really have a good opinion about it, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't the Indian goalie.
- 31:20SPEAKER_04: Um but again, I don't really know a lot about it, and about the rising stars, it was based on the junior World Cup only, so can't really say anything because I didn't watch it as well.
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: Brandon?
- 31:35SPEAKER_01: Pretty comprehensive.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: Uh I am at the point where I actually don't give a fuck anymore.
- 31:40SPEAKER_01: Um, if I'm honest, I think they're not, I don't think there's any weight to them anymore.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: I think they've lost all value, like to the point that it's actually a shame because there's there are people that deserve them.
- 31:50SPEAKER_01: Um, and I don't necessarily think they probably get the amount of publicity that they should get for it.
- 31:56SPEAKER_01: Um so to be honest with you, I think it's a bit of a waste of time, and I think they need to scrap it and start again because the way they're doing it at the moment just isn't good enough.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: If the weighting's all wrong and people basically get the votes from the wrong places, and it it should go back to the simplicity of like basically the people at the top of the game need to be the only ones to make decisions on stuff because clearly public and newspapers and jerk like all social media cannot be trusted.
- 32:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, there's there's detail to be gone into because of the the way they've tried to change the award and how it's weighted.
- 32:30SPEAKER_03: I mean, it was a bit of a joke that you told us, Brent, that only six of the 12 of the expert panel showed up for the actual conversation, which again like shows how much people actually care.
- 32:42SPEAKER_03: And you know, you you should find people who actually care about hockey to to be in the expert panel, like it makes no sense, and then you know the the the voting system is just plain wrong.
- 32:53SPEAKER_03: We've we've gone into it enough.
- 32:54SPEAKER_03: I just thought it was worth touching on.
- 32:56SPEAKER_01: I was just gonna say we're quite a subjective sport, so like from somebody who looks like they're playing quite nice hockey, like normally like it works out in their favour.
- 33:04SPEAKER_01: So Hardik's like quite a nice player to watch play, but actually, like again, like the whole point is that he didn't play really in 2023 when he needed to, like ultimately, regardless of everything else.
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: Like, it's just the situation you're in.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: I just think it's just I just thought it was just shit to be honest with you.
- 33:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I've been I've been thinking about something and talking to Brendan and Yupe about it for a while.
- 33:26SPEAKER_03: Is is I would love, and I don't know what you guys think at home to start uh a completely separate award um that's totally independent from the FIH.
- 33:37SPEAKER_03: And so you know, there's lots of examples of this uh in different you know formats.
- 33:42SPEAKER_03: You've got like when there's uh film awards, you know, you've got the footballing ballon d'or, you've got like MVPs, you've got different ways, and and I'd love to start an award ceremony that actually is is is totally independent.
- 33:57SPEAKER_03: Uh you can choose your own way of voting that's that's completely impartial, and you know, you could get a huge sponsor, hopefully, like put stuff behind it, and eventually you could make it into something that people really care about and people think is completely genuine, and that that the winner means something.
- 34:14SPEAKER_03: Um, you could also have different awards that you use, but what what do you guys think?
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: I think a form of ballon d'or for both men and women, I think, is the way to go forwards for it.
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: Like there's there's obviously like a top scorer, like a golden stick or whatever you want to call it.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: The obviously golden gloves for goalkeeper, like there's that stuff.
- 34:30SPEAKER_01: But I think the Ballon d'Or route is definitely the way to do it because I think ultimately that's the it seems to be the best way where actually the people who deserve to get the votes get the votes.
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: Now, the Ballon d'Or is a poor example because football's so flipping, everything's so biased, and there's money and there's votes and this, that, and the other.
- 34:46SPEAKER_01: Like people buy votes and this, that, and the other, and everything else.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: But I think in our sport there's not enough money for that to be an issue.
- 34:52SPEAKER_01: Um like from what I've from what the conversations I've had with how the voting system works out in for the awards at the moment, basically, if you're an Asian player and you're the only Asian player, everybody in Asia seems to vote for you.
- 35:05SPEAKER_01: Whereas when there's more European players, it actually doesn't benefit the European players because then the voting split.
- 35:12SPEAKER_01: So I think from that point of view, like there needs to be a better way of basically divvying out votes.
- 35:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I agree.
- 35:19SPEAKER_04: Can't really uh don't have a lot to add.
- 35:21SPEAKER_04: I think uh our own uh awards would be pretty cool if that's uh doable.
- 35:25SPEAKER_03: But yeah, I mean we we we talk a lot of shit here and we we do a lot of stuff, but our end goal at Lesty Together is to to improve hockey in general, and I think this would be quite a cool way of improving hockey and like upping the status of stuff.
- 35:38SPEAKER_03: So if you are you know uh have ties with a huge company who'd like to sponsor an event that that doesn't exist yet, please get in touch.
- 35:46SPEAKER_03: We'd love to we'd love to hear from you.
- 35:48SPEAKER_04: Or or if you're like filthy rich yourself, chuck us chuck us a bit of money.
- 35:53SPEAKER_04: You can miss it.
- 35:58SPEAKER_03: Right, from the serious to the not so serious, we we're we are bringing back the LST awards this year.
- 36:04SPEAKER_03: What we've gone for is me, you, and Brennan are gonna give out two awards each.
- 36:09SPEAKER_03: We're gonna nominate some players.
- 36:11SPEAKER_03: Uh it is all male um because we feel we know know them better, so we can actually make uh general like views on this.
- 36:19SPEAKER_03: It is meant to be abusive, it's it is a joke.
- 36:22SPEAKER_03: So if you hear it about yourself, you know, don't get too don't get too um too offended.
- 36:28SPEAKER_03: Brendan, you frowning.
- 36:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah, mine aren't jokes, mine are deadly serious.
- 36:32SPEAKER_03: Okay, I'm sorry.
- 36:33SPEAKER_03: They're not jokes.
- 36:34SPEAKER_04: And I want to say behind every joke is a little bit of truth.
- 36:38SPEAKER_04: So take take it as a joke, but also yeah, have a look at yourself.
- 36:43SPEAKER_04: Might want to change yourself a little bit if you feel like you're these are the prestigious LST awards.
- 36:49SPEAKER_04: You know, Phil, also what I also want to say, if some if people get offended, they usually get offended because they feel it's true.
- 36:57SPEAKER_04: Like if someone says to me, you your your black hair looks really bad, then I won't get offended because I know my hair is not black.
- 37:05SPEAKER_04: Know what I mean?
- 37:06SPEAKER_04: I do understand.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: Well, without further ado, the prestigious LST awards are gonna begin with Yup de Moles first award.
- 37:15SPEAKER_04: Of course we are.
- 37:17SPEAKER_04: Um but I actually went the serious route because I kind of miss like as in I feel I feel like I have really good awards.
- 37:23SPEAKER_04: I think people will be genuinely happy if they would receive the Let's Stick Together silent engine of the year award.
- 37:31SPEAKER_04: I don't know in Dutch we say stille motor, which means silent engine.
- 37:34SPEAKER_04: I don't know if it translates as well in English, uh, but it's the underappreciated players you would you like love to have on your on your team.
- 37:44SPEAKER_04: So I went we went in like uh uh from like a couple of the top countries.
- 37:50SPEAKER_04: Uh feel free to to to to change him.
- 37:52SPEAKER_04: I went uh Nick Park.
- 37:54SPEAKER_04: Uh I don't think he gets a lot of credit, uh, but I'd love to have the guy on my team, really good right half.
- 38:01SPEAKER_04: Or you call half, right?
- 38:02SPEAKER_04: Right back, right half.
- 38:04SPEAKER_04: Uh good first runner, always with his hand on the ground, pretty skillful.
- 38:08SPEAKER_04: Like, but I think he's under the kind of underappreciate.
- 38:10SPEAKER_04: I think he's he does well.
- 38:11SPEAKER_04: I I would like an honorable mention is David Ames, but he gets too much credit on this pod array, so yeah, not gonna mention him again.
- 38:19SPEAKER_04: Uh, by the way, Mr.
- 38:20SPEAKER_04: David.
- 38:21SPEAKER_04: Um, second is uh Lars Ballack, also like a guy who doesn't really get a lot of credit, but is uh defensively always in the right spot.
- 38:30SPEAKER_04: It's a hell of a first runner.
- 38:31SPEAKER_04: I think at the moment one of the best uh in the world.
- 38:34SPEAKER_04: Um, yeah, underappreciated.
- 38:36SPEAKER_04: I went for Hannes Müller for Germany.
- 38:40SPEAKER_04: Uh also very skillful, like he he brings the indoor game to the hockey to the outdoor game pretty well.
- 38:45SPEAKER_04: And I feel like if you take him out of the German team, they kind of like he creates a good balance there.
- 38:51SPEAKER_04: I went for an answer with Nicola Nico de Kechpool from Belgium.
- 38:55SPEAKER_04: I feel like he's uh easy guy, every every team would love to have on the team because he can play literally every position on the field, and sometimes people say yeah, he can play everywhere.
- 39:04SPEAKER_04: He here he has literally played everywhere for Belgium, like left back, center back, midfield, and striker.
- 39:10SPEAKER_04: Like, who doesn't want a guy like that on your team?
- 39:13SPEAKER_04: Um, Brandon's friend Amit Rohadas, Rohid Rohidas, Rohadas.
- 39:18SPEAKER_04: What a boy! Yeah, he's like he has a really good high ball, he can defend very well, he's tough as nails, and he's also a good first runner.
- 39:25SPEAKER_04: Like, I think people would like to have such a like a crazy motherfucker on a team.
- 39:30SPEAKER_04: And uh, I went with Flynn Ogilvy from the Australian side.
- 39:34SPEAKER_04: He's uh like uh he never really gets mentioned in the Australian team, but I feel like he's very skillful, he knows he reads the game very well, he can go in between lines.
- 39:44SPEAKER_04: I think like he's a very good, yeah, very good player.
- 39:47SPEAKER_03: So comprehensive you that's a good list, though.
- 39:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:53SPEAKER_04: I mean, who would you give the silent engine of the year award to?
- 39:57SPEAKER_03: I'm not gonna lie.
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: The one who sprung out to me is Amit Roedas.
- 40:03SPEAKER_03: I think uh I was just thinking I don't like playing him, and I never really think about him.
- 40:08SPEAKER_03: But then every time he's in front of me, I'm like, oh no, not you again, you big fucker.
- 40:13SPEAKER_01: I was gonna go, I was gonna go to Kerple.
- 40:15SPEAKER_01: I don't think you find many players that can genuinely play any position with the skill set that they've got, but he he actually can to a to a world like international level.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: I think that's actually pretty ridiculous when you actually put it down.
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: Like, don't get me wrong, like I'm not gonna be very good in midfield or forward line.
- 40:32SPEAKER_01: Like to actually have the skills to be able to not only play up front but score, also play in midfield and create stuff and defensively be still very good.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: Like, I think that takes a hell of a lot.
- 40:42SPEAKER_01: I'd I'd yeah, my vote's with the curple.
- 40:44SPEAKER_03: Don't put yourself down, Brent.
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: I know I'm good in five aside, but that is it.
- 40:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, what yeah.
- 40:52SPEAKER_04: My my my uh like my what for me the gapel as well stood out because I feel like he's uh meant to announce the winner, you chopstick.
- 41:00SPEAKER_04: Oh you know, Phil, fuck you.
- 41:03SPEAKER_04: It's my it's my award.
- 41:04SPEAKER_04: I decide what we're doing.
- 41:06SPEAKER_04: Uh I was by the way, uh Roidas.
- 41:09SPEAKER_04: Did you guys uh get when he when there was like six seconds in the game in Spain versus uh India?
- 41:15SPEAKER_04: And he uh he like faked.
- 41:17SPEAKER_04: He there was a guy from Spain on the sideline, he had the ball and he wanted to put it out.
- 41:22SPEAKER_04: He looked at the Spain guy, he he faked the hitting, then the Spain got jumped, and then he he still went and hit it like knee-high through the guy.
- 41:31SPEAKER_04: Oh, it could have ended so badly, but it was really funny.
- 41:34SPEAKER_04: And then all the Spanish guys got really upset, and he just with a straight face walked to his own to go, didn't pay attention to any of the Spanish little fuckers.
- 41:42SPEAKER_04: I thought it was really funny.
- 41:43SPEAKER_04: So, with that story said, I feel like he deserves that to be a silent engine of the year award.
- 41:53SPEAKER_05: I know you're an evident listener.
- 41:58SPEAKER_03: That is so you demol I've ever heard.
- 42:00SPEAKER_03: He's done a 180.
- 42:02SPEAKER_03: He's talked himself into the person.
- 42:06SPEAKER_03: So, congratulations.
- 42:07SPEAKER_03: Silent Engine of the Year award goes to Amit Roedas.
- 42:11SPEAKER_03: Brendan.
- 42:11SPEAKER_01: I never would have I never would have called that from that list, I'll be honest with you.
- 42:15SPEAKER_01: But fair play.
- 42:16SPEAKER_01: Second Brendan.
- 42:17SPEAKER_01: Uh, I'm going for the cock, but he's our cock award.
- 42:21SPEAKER_01: Uh, this is for those players that are complete knobeds to opposition, but you're just like, yeah, but he's our knobed, he's our man.
- 42:29SPEAKER_01: Um so I've gone for my my options are less less long list, but I feel they're equally weighted.
- 42:37SPEAKER_01: Uh so from England and GB, we've got Will Calnor.
- 42:40SPEAKER_01: Uh from Australia, Tom Wickham.
- 42:44SPEAKER_01: We've got from the Netherlands, Duco Tongkamp.
- 42:50SPEAKER_01: And finally from South Africa, Mustafa Cassium.
- 42:55SPEAKER_01: I feel like I want to can I add one more player to the list?
- 42:58SPEAKER_04: Of course you can.
- 42:59SPEAKER_04: Uh Antoine Kina.
- 43:02SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 43:05SPEAKER_04: He's also a bit of he's also an arrogant cock in the field, but he's like he's insanely good, so that's why he's right.
- 43:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm struggling to see the brenn that the like the there has to be a sense of like he's our cock about this award.
- 43:20SPEAKER_03: And that's why I think it it like it fully encompasses Will Calnan as as as as much as I I'm just not sure about Duke of Tongelkamp because like I haven't played him enough, but also like I don't I don't get the sense that he's he's you know he's he's the Dutch's cock.
- 43:38SPEAKER_01: I I I'm I'm talking from like over the summer he obviously scored quite a few goals, but everybody when he celebrated, everybody, and I mean everybody apart from the Dutch were going, What a fucking bell end.
- 43:50SPEAKER_01: What the fuck is this celebration about?
- 43:52SPEAKER_01: And then the Dutch were like, Yeah, but he's all but he's all right.
- 43:55SPEAKER_01: And automatically, the minute I hear that, I'm like, Yeah, that he's your cock.
- 43:59SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: That's it done.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: And I said that's it decided.
- 44:02SPEAKER_01: So for me, like that that encompasses that kind of feel.
- 44:05SPEAKER_01: Now I agree with you, Phil.
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: Like for me, Calnan is a complete front runner for this, completely because of some of the stuff that he got he's gotten away with.
- 44:13SPEAKER_01: But like I just thought he was he deserved a mention.
- 44:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I agree.
- 44:19SPEAKER_04: I I find it um I've I've I've noticed that I find it difficult to talk about Cox that much right now.
- 44:25SPEAKER_04: Uh because my my my mind goes like everywhere except for the things we're talking about.
- 44:33SPEAKER_04: But yeah, I think Duco is like deservedly on the list, as in that he um uh uh we all love him at the Dutch team, and he is a really good striker, scores goals.
- 44:43SPEAKER_04: But I can imagine that people think he's a cock with the celebrations and shit, but we kind of we kind of like it.
- 44:49SPEAKER_04: And um he isn't a cock in the field, dog, he doesn't really talk shit, or he's just like plays his own game, is very uh like yeah, he doesn't talk a lot of shit during the game.
- 45:01SPEAKER_04: So I wouldn't put him in like the Kellnon category, but he's in the he's a different kind of cock.
- 45:05SPEAKER_04: Also, I think it's like a circumcised cock.
- 45:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he has to be there has to be a level of acceptance from everyone else, you know, like because they're just they're just their own little in their own little world, that there is like very little you can do about what they do, and I think that's where like I'm not sure because I also think you got the wrong Casim brother.
- 45:26SPEAKER_03: I think that Danian is is more of a cock than Mustafa.
- 45:31SPEAKER_01: No, so I I don't I don't necessarily agree with that.
- 45:33SPEAKER_01: I think there's just one instance that we all know about where it's come obviously quite aggressively that he's a bit of a knob when he booted the bloke in doors, like there's that, whereas actually like on the pitch, I feel Mustafa ruffles a lot more feathers because he's quite he's quite a boisterous character, and he actually like he obviously like makes big tackles, like not badly or anything, but it's just like that for me felt a bit more round the cock but are cock.
- 45:58SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 45:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I understand.
- 46:00SPEAKER_03: I mean, you I guess Brendan, you're gonna have to give the winner out now.
- 46:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, as much as I want to give it to Tom Wickham, because I feel he is the definition of this.
- 46:09SPEAKER_01: I think Calnan has done some things, like even in the past six months, where I'm like, I really want to be like you're a knob ed, but it's so funny.
- 46:19SPEAKER_01: I'm like, yeah, I've just got to accept it.
- 46:21SPEAKER_01: So for me, Calnan wins the cock, but is our cock award.
- 46:24SPEAKER_01: That's for me.
- 46:25SPEAKER_01: And and if we're gonna go into the moment of the year, I'm happy to talk about the moment of the year for me, which is the high five.
- 46:31SPEAKER_01: So uh, but anyway, we'll move on to the next award.
- 46:34SPEAKER_03: Well, no, I think you have to tell people now, Brent.
- 46:36SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, we'll do it.
- 46:37SPEAKER_01: I'll do it at the end because it's it's so good, it needs its own little like segment.
- 46:40SPEAKER_01: That was my that was that was my second award, Brennan.
- 46:43SPEAKER_01: But oh well, in which case, in which case we're still gonna talk about that anyway, so that's fine.
- 46:47SPEAKER_01: Go on, Phil.
- 46:48SPEAKER_04: Just I just hoped you didn't wouldn't wouldn't sp like destroy my second uh award, but hey, here you go.
- 46:56SPEAKER_04: No, Phil, we'll go to another.
- 46:58SPEAKER_04: Maybe people will forget about it in the in the 20 minutes.
- 47:01SPEAKER_05: He's such a sassy little bitch.
- 47:04SPEAKER_03: Okay, um I've got the the get the fuck out of the way award.
- 47:11SPEAKER_03: And this is I I mainly put this down, I guess it can be interpreted differently, but it was mainly the guy who's on the top of the D with the ball, and he's swinging, and you're like fearing for your life.
- 47:24SPEAKER_03: Um and the nominations I gave here were Cedric Charlier, Blake Govers, Mandeep Singh, Liam Ansel.
- 47:36SPEAKER_03: Now Brendan's added in Tom Soresby here because I think you were looking at this in a different way.
- 47:41SPEAKER_03: The get the fuck out of the way because he's gonna run into your ward.
- 47:45SPEAKER_03: I think that was your your go-to.
- 47:47SPEAKER_03: But we're gonna stick with mine.
- 47:49SPEAKER_03: Um do you want to add anyone or have your take?
- 47:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'd I'd like I'd like to add as well.
- 47:56SPEAKER_04: I think uh um um a lot of a lot of um like for me, Duco is also on here because he doesn't give a shit if people are in the way, he will still hit it.
- 48:07SPEAKER_04: Duco Telkamp, we're talking about again, he will still hit it through you, and he he's quit international hockey.
- 48:13SPEAKER_04: Uh, but I would say uh Yala Galama, your R old teammate, uh uh Phil, he has no clue where he hits it to, but he hits it 700 miles an hour.
- 48:25SPEAKER_04: Um, so if you're like close to anyway, he he's hit Pyman Black into a concussion um when he had his helmet still on, so that's just quite a thing.
- 48:35SPEAKER_04: I think Blake Govers is also a good one for this.
- 48:37SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, oh you've already had him, yeah.
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: Red.
- 48:42SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, I I I did put Soresby down for exactly that reason.
- 48:46SPEAKER_01: Um I I thought you you just told us that Duco had quit international hockey, which completely threw me a curveball, but no, no, I just heard it wrong.
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: Um, I have been on the receiving end of being hit in the head by Cedric Charlier, so that is my vote.
- 49:00SPEAKER_01: I knocked me for six, and it hurt a fucking lot.
- 49:04SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, Cedric Charlier for me takes that vote.
- 49:08SPEAKER_04: It's also for me in the way people hit, like it's not only like for instance, um like Duke, like Duco, because he he he hits he is a kind of a controlled hit, so it's like less like for me, Govers has like the big swing to which he can hit you on multiple occasions in his back swing with the ball itself, with the the through follow-through.
- 49:30SPEAKER_04: So, like that's what makes it for me, and same with Mandip, he kind of goes for like a helicopter swing, yeah.
- 49:37SPEAKER_04: Like they like when I might have to talk because they hit it like a 700 times harder than I do, but like it's still it's the whole action, yeah.
- 49:44SPEAKER_04: Like Tom Bone is also one who just hits if you have your stick on the ground, whatever, he just hits it.
- 49:50SPEAKER_04: He doesn't give a shit if he takes a hand or two with it.
- 49:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, agreed.
- 49:54SPEAKER_03: I yeah, I I I also wanted to touch on Ansel because he he he has this like flowing hit that is never goes on the ground, and he openly says he is trying to hit it as as hard as humanly possible, and when he connects with it, it's it's just plain scary.
- 50:09SPEAKER_03: So I'd give him uh give him an honourable mention.
- 50:12SPEAKER_03: But I think the winner of the get the fuck out of the way award is going to go to Blake Govers, I think, uh for everything you've just said.
- 50:20SPEAKER_01: Mine, yeah, but the thing the thing about like Govers and Mandeep is you see it coming.
- 50:25SPEAKER_01: Whereas like Charlie and Ansel, they have such a quick swing because they're quite compact blokes.
- 50:30SPEAKER_01: You don't you sometimes get caught in the crossfire because you just don't see it happening and it just suddenly happens that quick.
- 50:35SPEAKER_01: Whereas at least Govers and Mandeep, you know it's coming, so you try and brace yourself a little bit.
- 50:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 50:40SPEAKER_03: Okay, well, thank you, Brent.
- 50:41SPEAKER_03: Right, next award.
- 50:42SPEAKER_03: You give us give us the next award, please.
- 50:46SPEAKER_03: Or do you not want to?
- 50:47SPEAKER_04: No, you go first.
- 50:48SPEAKER_04: You know another one, or Brendan does another one.
- 50:52SPEAKER_01: You are such a whiny little creature sometimes.
- 50:56SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: I'll go.
- 50:58SPEAKER_01: Um this is my second award.
- 51:00SPEAKER_01: Uh this is the should be working in duty free award.
- 51:04SPEAKER_01: Now, for clarity, that is for the men that smell the best.
- 51:08SPEAKER_01: Now, I I've met a fair few people that have some unbelievable colognes on when they play.
- 51:13SPEAKER_01: Um and it's a real pleasure to mark, and I have to admit I quite enjoy it.
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: Uh, so my three nominations, and please add to the list.
- 51:20SPEAKER_01: Uh, my three nominations are Gurjant Singh, Liam Samford, which is a curveball for some people who know him, and Akash Teep Singh.
- 51:29SPEAKER_01: Now, all three must cake themselves in after in um aftershave because they smell glorious.
- 51:37SPEAKER_04: Have you two ever got to a situation where you smell, or is it is it not a thing for you guys?
- 51:41SPEAKER_04: Brendan, for me, this entire award is kind of a curveball.
- 51:44SPEAKER_04: I don't really smell uh the opponent.
- 51:47SPEAKER_04: I feel like most of the opponents I play against smell like sweat.
- 51:51SPEAKER_04: Um, I don't really pay attention.
- 51:54SPEAKER_04: Like when I walk in the in like in the hallways of the hotel.
- 51:58SPEAKER_05: Oh, oh, who's that?
- 51:59SPEAKER_05: Oh, it's it's Gurjun Shing.
- 52:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, don't you spend the diff the difference is mate?
- 52:04SPEAKER_01: This is the difference between European marking and British marking.
- 52:07SPEAKER_01: Like we get close and you get a proper whiff of some fantastic clones.
- 52:13SPEAKER_01: Whereas you boys stand at a distance, look pretty, try and mark the space.
- 52:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:18SPEAKER_01: Don't get a good whiff, mate.
- 52:19SPEAKER_01: We're getting told to get in the pockets.
- 52:20SPEAKER_01: We're told to get close, mate.
- 52:22SPEAKER_01: We're British defending.
- 52:24SPEAKER_04: Maybe, maybe try, maybe try and and like cover the space every once in a while.
- 52:29SPEAKER_04: Then you might actually end up winning something every once in a while.
- 52:32SPEAKER_05: I think Brendan.
- 52:33SPEAKER_04: Brendan Creed.
- 52:36SPEAKER_05: Brendan, that's the no creed.
- 52:38SPEAKER_04: That's five nil them all, mate.
- 52:40SPEAKER_03: Brendan, that's the biggest nibble you've ever got out of you.
- 52:44SPEAKER_03: Well, the congratulations win that award.
- 52:49SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 52:50SPEAKER_04: You you you you you you English island fuckers are very weird.
- 52:54SPEAKER_04: I came up with an with a with an excellent comeback to Brendan's stupid little thing.
- 53:00SPEAKER_05: And you guys, you know, you tell him he won.
- 53:07SPEAKER_02: You know, Creed.
- 53:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, okay.
- 53:12SPEAKER_03: And um, Brennan, I think this is just your award, mate, so I think you should just give a winner.
- 53:17SPEAKER_01: Uh 100%, Gurjan.
- 53:19SPEAKER_01: He smells fantastic.
- 53:22SPEAKER_01: Fantastic.
- 53:23SPEAKER_03: We'll end it there.
- 53:23SPEAKER_03: Thank you, Brendan.
- 53:24SPEAKER_03: The next award I will do.
- 53:27SPEAKER_03: Oh, I've got a few, but we'll go with the best ginger award.
- 53:30SPEAKER_03: Um, this is a tough category.
- 53:34SPEAKER_03: There's only three nominations.
- 53:36SPEAKER_05: You're not doing this award.
- 53:39SPEAKER_05: Fuck you.
- 53:41SPEAKER_05: Not fucking doing this award.
- 53:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah, the first nomination Jack Waller.
- 53:47SPEAKER_03: The second nomination, I don't know how to say it, Gauthier Bockyard.
- 53:52SPEAKER_03: And the third nomination is you de mole.
- 53:57SPEAKER_03: And I don't think I need to go to these two to say the winner.
- 54:01SPEAKER_03: It is Jack Waller.
- 54:03SPEAKER_03: Congratulations, Jack.
- 54:04SPEAKER_03: You are the best, ginger.
- 54:06SPEAKER_03: And we will move it on.
- 54:08SPEAKER_03: Um, the next award, I'll just crack on, is the Umpires Worst Nightmare Award.
- 54:15SPEAKER_03: Um this is is uh an yeah, another prestigious award at Let's stick together uh for the person who gives the umpires the hardest time.
- 54:25SPEAKER_03: Um, Matt and Tom Grambush, it's it's no um surprise that they've made the list.
- 54:31SPEAKER_03: James Aubrey has made the list.
- 54:33SPEAKER_03: He can he can be absolutely terrible around umpires.
- 54:37SPEAKER_03: Uh you has added two names to this list in the time that we've been seeing here.
- 54:42SPEAKER_03: He's he's nominated me and Thijs van Dam.
- 54:45SPEAKER_03: Do you want to explain them, Yupe?
- 54:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Phil Roper, because of the very notorious everyone in the international knows about the roper that stare, the the bitchy little stare you have to umpires, which you think is very impressive, but everyone thinks oh he just has to shit.
- 55:02SPEAKER_04: And the second one is Thijs van Dom.
- 55:07SPEAKER_04: It's Thijs van Dom.
- 55:09SPEAKER_04: Because he talks, he says he doesn't talk to umpires, but he talks a lot to umpires.
- 55:13SPEAKER_04: I don't know, I don't I don't think he listens, but I just also want to get a nibble out of him because he also says that I talk a lot to umpires, um, but I don't, so I I think it's Thijs van Dom.
- 55:23SPEAKER_04: You're very lucky not to make this list, you I talk with umpires, I give him credit where credit is due, which almost never happens.
- 55:33SPEAKER_03: But we should have changed this to spends the most amount of time with umpires after games.
- 55:38SPEAKER_04: That would have been a good once, Phil.
- 55:40SPEAKER_04: You you know what's fucking you just got a nibble because I talked about your deaths there.
- 55:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Phil, I hate to break it to you, but I actually think you might win this.
- 55:49SPEAKER_04: All right, no, no, it's the Granbush Brothers a thousand percent.
- 55:53SPEAKER_03: It's a joint.
- 55:54SPEAKER_03: I tried, I tried, I tried to keep us a straight base.
- 55:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's on the Grambush boys.
- 55:58SPEAKER_03: You've won Umpire's Worst Nightmare Award.
- 56:00SPEAKER_03: Um, you P you happy for us to come to you for the last award?
- 56:04SPEAKER_04: I'm surprised I made that list.
- 56:06SPEAKER_04: No, I'm not surprised at all.
- 56:08SPEAKER_04: Um, I went for the uh moment of the year award, which Brandon already kind of ruined.
- 56:15SPEAKER_04: Um, but I have uh a couple of uh of moments in there.
- 56:20SPEAKER_04: Uh it varies from serious to uh a little less serious.
- 56:24SPEAKER_04: Uh, first, the two penalty strokes saved by Mauritz Fischer, which is up there for me.
- 56:30SPEAKER_01: Is that only coming in the last few minutes?
- 56:33SPEAKER_01: Just out of interest.
- 56:35SPEAKER_04: It was top of the list, Brendan.
- 56:37SPEAKER_04: You fucking knob.
- 56:44SPEAKER_03: I've never ever seen you with this this this high rate.
- 56:48SPEAKER_05: This is great.
- 56:49SPEAKER_03: I love shots.
- 56:51SPEAKER_04: I let you guys do your fucking thing.
- 56:52SPEAKER_04: Now let me do my thing.
- 56:54SPEAKER_04: So the two penalty strokes saved by Marlitz Wissler, which won Holland the Europeans over uh England second, the shootout in the semi-finals of the Euros between uh England and Germany, uh, which had like a lot of good shootouts, except for one.
- 57:13SPEAKER_04: Uh, the spit from uh from Kike Gonzalez de Castellon to the French player, yeah.
- 57:21SPEAKER_04: Um, as Brandon mentioned, the Kelnan high five at Lars Balak, which we'll come back, which we'll come back to later.
- 57:29SPEAKER_04: The Campong uh Rothweis uh 5-5 game, um, and Olympic qualification for New Zealand in the final quarter versus Pakistan, where they were 2-1 down uh and um came back in the final eight minutes of the game to win and qualify for the Olympics.
- 57:49SPEAKER_03: That's a really good list.
- 57:50SPEAKER_03: Well done, you're a good list, yeah.
- 57:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, thank you.
- 57:55SPEAKER_03: I'm just I'm just still shocked that you put effort into the podcast now.
- 57:58SPEAKER_03: It weirds me out a bit.
- 58:00SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 58:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I can I can I I can stop with it, but I kind of like it as well.
- 58:07SPEAKER_04: I feel like I'm doing a very good job.
- 58:09SPEAKER_01: I'm killing there's a there's a lot of serious ones, but but for me, the it it the Cowan incident is just so good.
- 58:19SPEAKER_04: I yeah, I think I'll give some context to the people.
- 58:22SPEAKER_04: Um, we played uh England um in a game, and I think we lost, right?
- 58:27SPEAKER_04: Or did we we draw?
- 58:28SPEAKER_04: No, we lost.
- 58:29SPEAKER_04: We lost 3-2, I think.
- 58:32SPEAKER_04: I think so, I don't know.
- 58:33SPEAKER_04: But um uh Kelnan was uh like England had the ball, they they smacked the ball into the circle, and I think it ended up with um Benderek, and he scored a goal.
- 58:43SPEAKER_04: Kelnan was at the second post, being marked by Lachs Ballock, and uh Benderek hits the ball into the goal, he scores a goal, he runs away and starts cheering.
- 58:53SPEAKER_04: Kellan looks at Lachs Ballock, puts his hand up to give high five, and I don't know how, but Lachs Ballock actually gave him high five like right after the goal.
- 59:01SPEAKER_04: It is on video, and we were laughing really, really hard about it after Phil sent it to us.
- 59:06SPEAKER_04: I think it he he he he got an opponent as far to give him a high five after scoring a goal.
- 59:13SPEAKER_04: I think that has yeah, that that's like ultimate that's the the best form of shithousery I've ever seen, to be honest.
- 59:23SPEAKER_03: It was absolutely incredible when that video came out and we were like Calan, what were you doing?
- 59:28SPEAKER_03: And he was like, I don't really know, it's just funny, innit?
- 59:31SPEAKER_01: And then we were like, What the best part about this was the fact that we were like post-game, everyone was like chatting about the game, and then Calan just out of nowhere was like pretty sure a high-fived like that that like Dutch lad at the back, and we were like, What are you on about?
- 59:47SPEAKER_01: It's like well the guy was marking, you know, the guy with the long brown hair, so didn't even know who it was.
- 59:50SPEAKER_01: It's like oh okay, but that's that's like no, no, no, it genuinely Calan was like, We need to go watch, so we were like, We need to go watch this back.
- 59:57SPEAKER_01: It was so good.
- 59:59SPEAKER_01: That whole thing is so good.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but now I want to chip in.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_04: He knows don't tell me that Kellan, we've played each other so many times that he doesn't know who Locke's bulk is.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, it's more in the in in the incident, he didn't he obviously knew who it was, but he was like at the time, like it didn't really compute with him, I think, because they were just like tussling, and then he just gave him like reached out his hand.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's amazing.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, for me, for me, I think that's that's very high up there.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_04: Um, but I think the winner has to be the two penalties, uh penalty strokes, you know.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_04: Uh yeah, I think that's the clear winner.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_04: Like the spit from Kike Gonzalez also caused quite a stir, which doesn't happen in hockey too often.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_04: You guys' shootouts were for me very high up there because I think it was the best shootout series I've ever seen.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_04: Um yeah, and I think, yeah, I think I think for me the winner is the Keldon High Five is the moment of the year for me.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_04: I think even of the decade, like what a moment.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_03: We might have to get that out on socials, like that, Brendan.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_03: That might have to be your job because we can do an awards, maybe like an awards breakdown, because obviously this has been a ri really important awards that we've given out today.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_03: We want to make sure we congratulate everyone, but but maybe on a separate page on Instagram, you can put the video up of Calan High Five last part to give context.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_03: I mean, this has been the Let's Stick Together awards.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_03: I don't think we've done it for a couple of years, so I hope you enjoyed it.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_03: Uh we've taken this episode quite seriously, guys.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_03: I think it's been I think it's been fairly good.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_03: Also, like top moments as you actually getting roasted by Brendan uh for the first time.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_03: I've got to I've got to make the most of that.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_03: Never happens.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_03: Um him firing back multiple times.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_03: But yeah, have you have we got any uh can we go into the coop for like a very very quick one?
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_04: You guys are so you guys are so so you're coop addicted.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_04: You and the coop.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_04: It's gotta be a speed coop.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_04: It's gonna be a quick coop.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's it's it's it's gotta again a quickie, but I don't know if if if the if you can do the coop quick, you have to take your time, a little foreplay.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_04: Let's see.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_04: Um if you could use only one emoji for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_04: I know what you're going to say, Phil.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_01: Uh it'd have to be the two hands raised.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_01: That'll be mine.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_01: I just use it the most, you that's probably why.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_01: Okay, Brendan.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_01: You fill up.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_03: I like the guy who said I can't explain it on the podcast.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_03: Which guy?
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_03: The guy who's like, oh I don't know what you mean.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_03: I think it's quite low.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_03: It's quite universal.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_03: Like it's the why me, isn't it?
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_03: The shrug.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's the shrug, yeah.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_03: The shrug.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_03: It's a bit of a shrug.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_03: I use it too many times for no apparent reason.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_03: I quite enjoy it.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_03: You pause yours.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_03: Are you looking through the emotions now?
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because I came up with the question, but I don't have an answer.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_04: I have no clue, to be honest.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_04: I like the I like this loot one, but I just found it uh, and I like the the auberg jean or what you call the eggplant one.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_03: Right.
