- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel, Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 2: What's up everybody?
- 0:07Speaker 1: Welcome to move to stacks, DJ, Bucky Rhett back with
- 0:11Speaker 1: you and a lot of ground we've got to cover today. Boys, Buck,
- 0:14Speaker 1: I love you representing the high school there with the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Grenada Hills Charter sweatshirt. By the way, Buck, Rhett, Happy
- 0:21Speaker 1: Eagles Niners week, by the way, I just want to
- 0:23Speaker 1: wish you a very early happy Let's how we doing?
- 0:27Speaker 2: Is that all we're talking about today? Eagles? We're gonna
- 0:31Speaker 2: save that, We're gonna save this. We're gonna table that
- 0:34Speaker 2: for for later in the week.
- 0:36Speaker 1: But we'll have plenty of the game coming up later
- 0:38Speaker 1: in the week, which is something we've been pointing to
- 0:40Speaker 1: for a long time.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Uh, let's let's get this thing started.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Though.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Let's jump into what we saw last night. This is
- 0:46Speaker 1: uh the Monday night recap in a game that I'm
- 0:48Speaker 1: gonna be honest, not the most esthetically pleasing game. I
- 0:52Speaker 1: think the maybe the this shine came off a little bit.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Buck On on what had been a great story with
- 0:59Speaker 1: Josh turned it over a bunch in this game and
- 1:02Speaker 1: the Bears find their way.
- 1:03Speaker 2: To the winner circle, what was your takeaway.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Yeah, my takeaway is the Bears playing well on the
- 1:07Speaker 3: Matt Everflus. The one thing that you have to admire
- 1:11Speaker 3: is that he's been able to keep this team together.
- 1:13Speaker 3: This is a team that was kind of left for dead,
- 1:14Speaker 3: didn't think that they were going to be able to
- 1:16Speaker 3: kind of make it down the stretch. But they played
- 1:19Speaker 3: with great effort, great energy, and the execution has gotten
- 1:22Speaker 3: better every week. And from a defensive standpoint, this is
- 1:25Speaker 3: a team. They want to see ball, get ball, and
- 1:27Speaker 3: sometimes the zones and stuff that they play can really
- 1:30Speaker 3: mess with a quarterback. And we saw they were able
- 1:32Speaker 3: to get after Josh Dobbs. They made light miserable for
- 1:35Speaker 3: him because they did a really good job of tracking
- 1:37Speaker 3: his eyes and making plays. And when the Bears bring
- 1:40Speaker 3: the energy and the effort that we saw on Monday night,
- 1:43Speaker 3: they have a chance to win, particularly when they get
- 1:45Speaker 3: contributions from their offense.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I think looking at this and I
- 1:50Speaker 4: think we can all appreciate and respect of the work
- 1:53Speaker 4: that Josh Dobbs has done over his career, right, I mean,
- 1:56Speaker 4: coming in in some really difficult situations, going back to
- 1:59Speaker 4: last year or at Tennessee, you know this year at Arizona,
- 2:02Speaker 4: in the first couple of weeks here in Minnesota, I mean,
- 2:04Speaker 4: played really good, you know football for a team that
- 2:07Speaker 4: really needed and was desperate at the quarterback spot. But
- 2:10Speaker 4: you know, like I think that, as Bucky mentioned, the
- 2:13Speaker 4: shine does start to come off a little bit. I mean,
- 2:15Speaker 4: you look at what happened in Arizona at the end,
- 2:18Speaker 4: I mean, through three interceptions. At his last two games,
- 2:21Speaker 4: there was minimized in the run game, kind of like
- 2:23Speaker 4: he was in this game and you see four interceptions.
- 2:26Speaker 5: Obviously that sticks out.
- 2:27Speaker 4: I don't know that one of them bounce right off
- 2:29Speaker 4: Jordan Adison's hands, you know, another one was really close.
- 2:32Speaker 4: So like, I don't think it was like this four
- 2:33Speaker 4: interception debacle that maybe it can get painted at if
- 2:37Speaker 4: you're just looking.
- 2:37Speaker 5: At the box score.
- 2:38Speaker 4: But I think what happens is when you have a
- 2:40Speaker 4: defense that can limit the way that he's able to
- 2:42Speaker 4: affect the game with his athleticism. He even talked about
- 2:46Speaker 4: it afterwards, like they did a great job in their
- 2:48Speaker 4: rush lanes kind of maintaining discipline, not really allowing him
- 2:51Speaker 4: to create the way he does. And I just he's
- 2:54Speaker 4: not the type of player otherwise he'd been starting for
- 2:57Speaker 4: the last six years to win that way when he
- 3:00Speaker 4: can't use that piece of his game and be that
- 3:02Speaker 4: consistent that a team like this in the Vikings play
- 3:05Speaker 4: without Justin Jefferson really needs so dj I just I
- 3:09Speaker 4: feel like the luster does start to come off a
- 3:11Speaker 4: little bit the more that you see of it.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I think, to me, the keys there are you
- 3:17Speaker 1: touched on it. It's it's accuracy, it's protecting the football,
- 3:20Speaker 1: and then it's using your legs to add to it.
- 3:22Speaker 1: So when you only carry the ball two times for
- 3:23Speaker 1: eleven yards in this game, you eliminate that obviously. The
- 3:26Speaker 1: turnovers and I look, the one did hit Addison literally
- 3:29Speaker 1: almost in the face, so you don't put all of
- 3:31Speaker 1: them on him. But he didn't do a good job
- 3:33Speaker 1: protecting the ball. The accuracy was okay, he was fine there.
- 3:36Speaker 1: He was almost seventy percent in this game, sixty nine percent.
- 3:40Speaker 1: So I was thinking going into this game and Buck,
- 3:43Speaker 1: I'll get it over to you on this one, that
- 3:45Speaker 1: the decision that Vikings could have with Kirk Cousins being up,
- 3:48Speaker 1: both these guys being up, you could make a case
- 3:50Speaker 1: before this game kicked off that the Vikings had the
- 3:53Speaker 1: two most promising, most attractive free agent quarterbacks in next
- 3:58Speaker 1: year's market, Like there was a chance both those guys
- 4:01Speaker 1: find hefty paydays. And I thought the Vikings might have
- 4:04Speaker 1: to make a decision. Do we want to bring Cousins back? No,
- 4:07Speaker 1: you know, north of forty pushing fifty million a year,
- 4:11Speaker 1: or would you know, could we get Dobbs on maybe
- 4:13Speaker 1: a twenty you know, kind of that lower tier quarterback
- 4:17Speaker 1: dollars And say, man, you know, I don't know Dobbs
- 4:19Speaker 1: the way he'd been playing. Maybe Dobbs well after this game, Yeah,
- 4:22Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think that you're the Vikings.
- 4:24Speaker 2: You can let Kirk Cousins walk out of.
- 4:26Speaker 5: That building to you.
- 4:28Speaker 3: So it just depends like the team building model, right,
- 4:31Speaker 3: and so like if you pay Kirk now you're talking
- 4:33Speaker 3: about fifty plus million dollars in you know, how good
- 4:36Speaker 3: is he going to be for you in terms of
- 4:38Speaker 3: getting over the top when you pay him that much money?
- 4:40Speaker 6: Because you're also limited in other areas.
- 4:42Speaker 3: We Josh Dobbs is trying to find what is the
- 4:45Speaker 3: sweet point, the sweet spot in terms of how much
- 4:48Speaker 3: he should get. He's about twenty million, maybe's a ten.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Where does he fall in between. That'd be an interesting conversation,
- 4:54Speaker 3: or do they go to the draft. The one thing
- 4:55Speaker 3: about the Vikings is they made themselves competitive where they
- 4:58Speaker 3: were in the conversation of.
- 4:59Speaker 6: Being in the post the postseason.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Now they have to figure out, Okay, are we good
- 5:04Speaker 3: enough to get in the tournament or is this where
- 5:07Speaker 3: we are?
- 5:07Speaker 6: We fall back.
- 5:08Speaker 3: We now get the pick and kind of focus our
- 5:10Speaker 3: efforts on getting the young guys ready for next year.
- 5:12Speaker 3: It'll be interesting to see what kind of determination Kevin
- 5:14Speaker 3: O'Connell and the staff makes as they go forward.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Yeah, and one real quick, Rhett, you know the age
- 5:20Speaker 1: of Kirk Cousins in his mid thirties, but this injury
- 5:22Speaker 1: is the first injury he's had alto This is the
- 5:24Speaker 1: first practice he's missed.
- 5:25Speaker 2: And see was a sophomore high school, so he's been
- 5:27Speaker 2: extremely durable.
- 5:29Speaker 1: And with a quarterback who's not really you know, an
- 5:31Speaker 1: athletic move guy, I think the achilles isn't going to
- 5:33Speaker 1: be as big of a detriment or as big a
- 5:35Speaker 1: concern coming off that injury for a guy like him.
- 5:38Speaker 5: I think that's a good point too.
- 5:40Speaker 4: And we also have to watch, you know, what happens
- 5:42Speaker 4: with the Justin Jefferson contract that's going to command you know,
- 5:45Speaker 4: close to thirty million.
- 5:46Speaker 5: I mean, he'll be in the twenty five million with.
- 5:48Speaker 4: The way that that he's you know, established himself as
- 5:52Speaker 4: one of, if not the best receiver in football right now.
- 5:56Speaker 5: So you know, how does that work out with Cousins.
- 5:57Speaker 4: But if you believe what you heard on the broadcast,
- 5:59Speaker 4: I mean you had Joe Buck talking about their meeting
- 6:01Speaker 4: with Kevin O'Connell and that he was desperate to bring
- 6:04Speaker 4: Kirk Cousins back next year and wants to figure out
- 6:07Speaker 4: a way to make it work. So I think that's
- 6:09Speaker 4: probably still the best course forward here for the Minnesota Vikings.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Teach, have no doubt. Look at that. We squeezed the
- 6:16Speaker 2: nice conversation out of a terrible football game. We done.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Well done, everybody, Well done. All right, let's keep the
- 6:22Speaker 2: train moving here.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Let's get to the NFC playoff picture, and I want
- 6:25Speaker 1: to focus on a couple teams that are in the
- 6:28Speaker 1: hut there. When you look at the Green Bay Packers
- 6:30Speaker 1: at five and six, the Rams five and six as well,
- 6:33Speaker 1: I want to.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Focus really on those two.
- 6:35Speaker 1: You see the Minnesota Vikings, they're holding that last spot
- 6:38Speaker 1: at six and six.
- 6:40Speaker 2: But Buck, when you look at Green Bay.
- 6:42Speaker 1: And you look at the Los Angeles Rams, you know,
- 6:44Speaker 1: green Bay, I'd say expectations, even with Jordan Love taking
- 6:47Speaker 1: over for Aaron Rodgers, They're probably around where the expectations were.
- 6:51Speaker 1: I would say the Rams have exceeded expectations for where
- 6:55Speaker 1: they are. Both these teams right in the mix for
- 6:57Speaker 1: playoff spots. Who do you trust more between those two?
- 7:01Speaker 6: I'm gonna trust the Green Bay Packers more.
- 7:03Speaker 3: The Green Bay Packers have more talent at the other
- 7:06Speaker 3: positions outside of quarterback and Aaron Dawell. When you look
- 7:10Speaker 3: at this defense, they have enough playmakers on defense to
- 7:13Speaker 3: get after Rashan Garry is playing really really well, being
- 7:15Speaker 3: able to get after the pass or defensively the beginning
- 7:18Speaker 3: to kind of find their identity under Joe Berry, and
- 7:20Speaker 3: then offensively, the young playmakers have a synergy and a
- 7:23Speaker 3: connection with Jordan Love that has given them an opportunity
- 7:26Speaker 3: to kind of find their way as an offense. Matla
- 7:29Speaker 3: Floyd has to be pleased with the progress of the
- 7:31Speaker 3: young guys. I just trust this team, and I just
- 7:33Speaker 3: trust that they gonna find a way to get it done.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I look for them to be the seventh seed when
- 7:37Speaker 3: it's all said and done.
- 7:38Speaker 2: At the end of the season.
- 7:40Speaker 5: Yeah, it's hard for me not to choose the Rams here.
- 7:43Speaker 4: I think that they've done a really good job accentuating
- 7:47Speaker 4: their weapons offensively, as Sean McVay and Michael flour can
- 7:50Speaker 4: always do, right. I think you trust the quarterback obviously,
- 7:53Speaker 4: I think more than anybody in that wildcard discussion here
- 7:56Speaker 4: with Matthew Stafford. You know, win healthy again, throws four
- 7:59Speaker 4: touchdowns this last game. But in addition to that and
- 8:02Speaker 4: what we've seen from Pookakakua this year and obviously Cooper Cup,
- 8:05Speaker 4: you know, still one of the very best. But Kyrin
- 8:07Speaker 4: Williams I think is a difference maker for this team
- 8:09Speaker 4: and their commitment to run the football and ability to
- 8:11Speaker 4: execute chunk plays in the run game. We don't talk
- 8:14Speaker 4: about seventeen carries one hundred and forty eight yards like
- 8:16Speaker 4: that's not just three clouds in or three yards in
- 8:18Speaker 4: a cloud of dust. Like They're finding ways to impact
- 8:21Speaker 4: the game both on the ground and then with a
- 8:24Speaker 4: number of weapons. In the past game, we saw Tyler
- 8:26Speaker 4: Hickbee get back involved in a big way this past week.
- 8:29Speaker 4: So like They've got a lot on offense. I will
- 8:31Speaker 4: agree with Bucky DJ that the Packers probably had the
- 8:34Speaker 4: edge in terms of totality and talent on the defensive
- 8:37Speaker 4: side of the ball. They're getting a lot of those
- 8:38Speaker 4: injured dbs back now, But I still trust Matthew Stafford,
- 8:42Speaker 4: Sean McVay and the Rams the most out of that group.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm looking at the schedule for the Rams guys,
- 8:48Speaker 1: and if we assume nine and eight most likely gets
- 8:52Speaker 1: you in in the NFC for that last Wildcards. But
- 8:55Speaker 1: I believe when you kind of look at the schedules
- 8:56Speaker 1: and how this whole thing shakes out, so that means
- 8:59Speaker 1: you look at their schedule for the remaining schedule for
- 9:02Speaker 1: the Rams, Cleveland with backup quarterback, I feel like that's
- 9:05Speaker 1: a win at Baltimore is that they're not going to
- 9:08Speaker 1: win that game, so we'll give him a loss there.
- 9:10Speaker 1: But outside of that, then you go Washington, New Orleans,
- 9:13Speaker 1: the Giants, and then the last week of the season
- 9:15Speaker 1: at San Francisco, who might have whatever seen they are
- 9:18Speaker 1: wrapped up like the Rams are going.
- 9:21Speaker 2: To win nine and maybe even ten games. So it's incredible.
- 9:26Speaker 1: It's a testament to what coaching and teaching does when
- 9:29Speaker 1: you have a talented quarterback that can kind of handle
- 9:31Speaker 1: things there, but then you just draft so many young
- 9:34Speaker 1: players you've had to purge this roster that buck. I
- 9:37Speaker 1: think the underrated aspect is development and teaching at the
- 9:41Speaker 1: NFL level. There's very few teams that do it well.
- 9:43Speaker 1: I'd probably count on one hand. I don't know if
- 9:45Speaker 1: anybody does it better than Sean McVay and his staff.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Hey give him credit, man, because there are a lot
- 9:49Speaker 3: of people that weren't worried about him checking out, like
- 9:53Speaker 3: not having all the weapons available with this team being
- 9:55Speaker 3: in a rebuild, did he have the wherewithal to kind
- 9:58Speaker 3: of stick through it and grind out to get this
- 10:00Speaker 3: team back to a place where they're not only respectable,
- 10:03Speaker 3: but they're competitive and they can be a playoff contender.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Pass off to him because he did it.
- 10:07Speaker 7: And I don't know if many of us thought that
- 10:09Speaker 7: he had d like the mentality to be able to
- 10:11Speaker 7: do it. But they've done it, and the young players
- 10:14Speaker 7: that they've been able to develop over time, the guys
- 10:17Speaker 7: that have been third round or later that have come
- 10:20Speaker 7: in and made major contributions. Being able to kind of
- 10:22Speaker 7: get those guys on the field.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Being unafraid to play them and give them opportunities to
- 10:28Speaker 3: kind of work through those mistakes. The Rams are there
- 10:30Speaker 3: reaping the benefits of being kind of bold when it
- 10:34Speaker 3: came to putting those guys on the field. Because the
- 10:35Speaker 3: young guys are playing well, and because you have Matthew Stafford,
- 10:38Speaker 3: a quarterback that has played at a high level in
- 10:41Speaker 3: this league, he is being able to kind of guide
- 10:43Speaker 3: them to this winn circle is working really really well
- 10:45Speaker 3: in LA.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Yeah, no question.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Let's give less sneed a lot of love there as
- 10:49Speaker 1: well for the job he's done of identifying players that
- 10:52Speaker 1: are coachable and have some upside and they've been able
- 10:55Speaker 1: to tap into that. All right, let's jump into speaking
- 10:59Speaker 1: of the draft, jump into the top ten if the
- 11:01Speaker 1: season ended right now, Here's what we're looking at, Picks
- 11:03Speaker 1: one through ten. How about the Bears, even with the
- 11:06Speaker 1: win last night, they're picking one in four.
- 11:08Speaker 2: The Patriots are sitting right there at three.
- 11:11Speaker 1: They are not out of the mix to get to
- 11:12Speaker 1: the number one overall pick when this is all said
- 11:14Speaker 1: and done. Got the Cardinals there at too, The Giants, five, Commanders, Titans, Jets, Bucks, Chargers. Man,
- 11:19Speaker 1: I wouldn't have been shocked if you'd have told me
- 11:21Speaker 1: before the year the Chargers would have a top ten pick.
- 11:23Speaker 1: But here we are at this point in time. Interesting decision.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Rhtt.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I'll kick it over to you on this one, because
- 11:32Speaker 1: we're going to have a full spring of this discussion.
- 11:34Speaker 1: If the Bears end up holding a number one overall pick,
- 11:36Speaker 1: which the way Carolina has gone and firing Frank Reich,
- 11:39Speaker 1: it kind of looks like they're the favorite here to
- 11:41Speaker 1: hold onto this thing. We're going to have a spring
- 11:44Speaker 1: of the Do they keep fields, do they trade fields?
- 11:46Speaker 1: What do they do at the quarterback position? Do they
- 11:48Speaker 1: trade one of these picks? Do they just take whoever
- 11:50Speaker 1: the quarterbacks are that come out. We don't know those
- 11:53Speaker 1: names just yet. We have a pretty good idea, but
- 11:56Speaker 1: I thought it would be interesting exercise if we went
- 11:58Speaker 1: back and looked at the Jets.
- 12:00Speaker 2: I think of a team that had a similar decision.
- 12:01Speaker 1: The Jets having Sam Donald in the fold and then
- 12:05Speaker 1: having a top pick. They had to make the decision, right,
- 12:08Speaker 1: It was do we stick with Sam Donald going forward?
- 12:12Speaker 1: Or do we and we trade Sam Donald? Get what
- 12:14Speaker 1: you can get, and you look at the numbers side
- 12:16Speaker 1: by side, it's not all that different when you look
- 12:19Speaker 1: at the Donald and the Justin Fields numbers, total touchdowns
- 12:23Speaker 1: very close fifty to forty six, the giveaways Donald a
- 12:26Speaker 1: little bit higher there, the passer ratings somewhat comparable, But
- 12:30Speaker 1: that was a decision that Jets had to make. We
- 12:32Speaker 1: know what they did and how it worked out. What's
- 12:34Speaker 1: your early take on the Bears here.
- 12:37Speaker 4: Well, I think also you know, you throw the rushing
- 12:39Speaker 4: numbers in there for Justin Fields, and that that that
- 12:42Speaker 4: you know that look in that comparison with with Donald
- 12:44Speaker 4: probably takes on a different shape. Although it was total
- 12:47Speaker 4: touchdowns also, and they're not just passing touchdowns. It tells
- 12:49Speaker 4: you that Darnall found a little bit more success through
- 12:52Speaker 4: the air than Justin Fields has in those few years.
- 12:55Speaker 4: I think he's done a better job at taking care
- 12:57Speaker 4: of the football in the last few weeks and he
- 12:58Speaker 4: hasn't thrown an interception and in his time back since
- 13:03Speaker 4: the injury. But you know, those first couple of weeks,
- 13:06Speaker 4: I mean, it was it was ugly, right, and so
- 13:08Speaker 4: I appreciate the fact that they they've found a way
- 13:11Speaker 4: to limit that a little bit while still keeping some
- 13:13Speaker 4: of what makes him dangerous in the game.
- 13:15Speaker 5: Plan.
- 13:16Speaker 4: I think he's found a really nice connection with Cole
- 13:18Speaker 4: Command and Dj Moore. Now does that show you enough
- 13:21Speaker 4: that all right? If we add another piece with one
- 13:24Speaker 4: of those high draft picks. Shoot, if we get Marvin Harrison,
- 13:26Speaker 4: you kidd me, you know, bring him back, bring the
- 13:29Speaker 4: Buckeyes back together down there in Chicago. Like, do we
- 13:32Speaker 4: see Justin Fields take another step at another level? I
- 13:36Speaker 4: think that's something that you know, you also that we're
- 13:38Speaker 4: always going to be just a little bit behind on
- 13:40Speaker 4: because we're not seeing it every day in practice, not
- 13:43Speaker 4: seeing that tape every day in practice. Well, you know,
- 13:45Speaker 4: we're seeing the games, and obviously that's a big piece
- 13:47Speaker 4: of it. But you know how the Bears view his
- 13:51Speaker 4: daily weekly and you know, monthly improvement this season obviously
- 13:55Speaker 4: plays a huge role in what they're going to do
- 13:59Speaker 4: at the quarterback spot. Because at this point, Bucky, what
- 14:01Speaker 4: are we looking at if you try to put Justin
- 14:03Speaker 4: Fields on the block.
- 14:05Speaker 5: You think, is it is a team gonna give you
- 14:06Speaker 5: a first round er? I'm probably not. I mean, you're
- 14:09Speaker 5: probably looking at what a Day two pick at this point?
- 14:12Speaker 5: If you yeah, go ahead, days.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. Well I'm
- 14:16Speaker 1: gonna tell you exactly. If we're going to the Donald comparison.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Donald went for a this year six and next year's
- 14:21Speaker 1: two and a four, So a combination of a two
- 14:23Speaker 1: of four and a six. And you remember, because the
- 14:25Speaker 1: Montes sweat trade, they don't have a two, So you
- 14:28Speaker 1: recoup a two, you get a four.
- 14:29Speaker 2: And a six.
- 14:30Speaker 1: That's I mean, And we could argue, I mean, Buck,
- 14:32Speaker 1: you give me your opinion on this. Do you get
- 14:33Speaker 1: more than they got for Sam Donald? I think that
- 14:35Speaker 1: was a pretty nice return at that point in time.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I agree, Yeah, So you think about the return.
- 14:40Speaker 3: So you're talking about three picks, three picks to continue
- 14:43Speaker 3: to help you fortify the roster. As a draft d
- 14:47Speaker 3: A guy who leans in the draft rampos is probably
- 14:49Speaker 3: going to lean towards maybe moving on from justin fields.
- 14:52Speaker 3: The real debate comes from this justin fields versus whichever
- 14:57Speaker 3: quarterback comes out and let's just say uh for conversations.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Standpoint Kayleb Williams and Drake may come out is being
- 15:03Speaker 3: able to look at justin fields where he was and
- 15:06Speaker 3: where he is now versus what's behind door number one
- 15:09Speaker 3: and door number two. The one thing that we don't
- 15:11Speaker 3: know is We've been excited about quarterback classes the last
- 15:14Speaker 3: three years, but we really haven't seen many of those
- 15:18Speaker 3: guys pop like we anticipated when we were doing the
- 15:21Speaker 3: draft thing? Does that cloud the evaluation when the Bears
- 15:24Speaker 3: are thinking about, Okay, here's what we know, what we have,
- 15:28Speaker 3: here's what we're.
- 15:28Speaker 6: Hoping to get.
- 15:30Speaker 3: What is more likely to continue to play at the
- 15:32Speaker 3: level that we need for our team to get back
- 15:34Speaker 3: into playoff contention.
- 15:36Speaker 2: That's a hard thing.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Because there's so many unknowns when it comes to not
- 15:39Speaker 3: only justin fields, but what this quarterback class is really
- 15:42Speaker 3: going to bring down the line.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Well, I think there's also an unknown DJ. I know
- 15:46Speaker 4: we're to get to the Kyler Murray case, which is
- 15:48Speaker 4: kind of similar here as the Cardinals prepare their draft plans,
- 15:52Speaker 4: but they're more solidified and what they're going to do
- 15:55Speaker 4: with their coaching structure, right, Like, do we know do
- 15:57Speaker 4: we feel like we know what the Bears are going
- 15:59Speaker 4: to do with Matt Eberfah and Luke Getzi in that
- 16:01Speaker 4: crew there? I know it's it's been early in that
- 16:03Speaker 4: tenuere but still, I mean, you know, we just saw
- 16:06Speaker 4: Frank Reich, you know, go out the door after eleven
- 16:08Speaker 4: games so.
- 16:10Speaker 5: Early, and I don't know is really a factor in
- 16:12Speaker 5: this thing. So if you have an.
- 16:14Speaker 4: Opportunity to recreate a coaching staff and then draft you know,
- 16:18Speaker 4: a player who you believe will be a franchise changer
- 16:21Speaker 4: and let those two, you know, grow together, that might
- 16:24Speaker 4: be too hard for Poles to pass up.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to get to Arizona, though, if we change,
- 16:29Speaker 1: let's still just mention them.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Look at these Listen to these assets.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Right now draft takes place, the Arizona Cardinals are picking two,
- 16:36Speaker 1: they're picking seventeen thirty four, and then in the third
- 16:40Speaker 1: round they're picking sixty six, seventy.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Two, eighty one. They've got three threes.
- 16:45Speaker 5: They got two twenty and the three threes.
- 16:48Speaker 1: They've got two fours, two fives, A six and three.
- 16:52Speaker 1: I mean they have three steps. They have a bazillion picks.
- 16:56Speaker 1: And with Kyler Murray, he's not I mean they're committed.
- 16:59Speaker 1: They're going forward with Kyle Murray. The numbers here, we
- 17:01Speaker 1: have research.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Pull it up. It's like, what is it.
- 17:04Speaker 1: It's eighty one point five million in dead money in
- 17:05Speaker 1: twenty fourth they cut him forty six million.
- 17:07Speaker 2: If they treat.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Him, you stay committed to him and then Buck. Right
- 17:12Speaker 1: now you've got the number two pick. I mean, well,
- 17:16Speaker 1: this is a way early draftscuession. We could go along
- 17:18Speaker 1: ways on this, but I mean Marvin Harrison junior Buck
- 17:22Speaker 1: in a comparison that I had when I watched him
- 17:25Speaker 1: to Larry Fitzgerald, You get your Larry Fitzgerald with the
- 17:28Speaker 1: second pick, or you could auction it off if you
- 17:30Speaker 1: wanted to. In a perfect scenario, the team that picks three,
- 17:33Speaker 1: you could you could try and negotiate and get a
- 17:36Speaker 1: little something to slide down one pick. If they're going
- 17:39Speaker 1: to take the quarterbacks, Say it's the Patriots and we
- 17:40Speaker 1: know they need a quarterback. Maybe you even get an
- 17:43Speaker 1: extra pick or two. But of all the teams in
- 17:45Speaker 1: this draft, as great as it is, the Bears are
- 17:46Speaker 1: picking one and four. The Arizona Cardinals, already knowing that
- 17:49Speaker 1: we believe they're committed to Kyler Murray, they have the
- 17:52Speaker 1: most advantageous position in the entire draft.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Yeah, the Cardinals have a lot that they can do,
- 17:58Speaker 3: a lot that they can work with fulling on board
- 18:00Speaker 3: with them bringing Kyler murrayback. He's played better sentence, he's
- 18:03Speaker 3: return he appears to have kind of ingratiated himself to
- 18:08Speaker 3: his teammates in terms of showing a better attitude around
- 18:10Speaker 3: the locker room and those things. If you have an
- 18:12Speaker 3: opportunity to build, and you're hoping that the draft gives
- 18:14Speaker 3: you what you need in terms of the needs that
- 18:17Speaker 3: you have match up with the strengths of the draft,
- 18:19Speaker 3: and so you not only talk about a Marvin Harrison
- 18:21Speaker 3: junior a playmaker on the outside, but being able to
- 18:24Speaker 3: beef up the offensive in defensive lines, which is necessary
- 18:27Speaker 3: in a division that is one that is won by
- 18:29Speaker 3: the trench Warriors. The Cardinals have plenty of picks to
- 18:32Speaker 3: be able to do that. So this is an opportunity
- 18:35Speaker 3: for them to dig in the draft. And we saw
- 18:37Speaker 3: how the turnarounds happened in Seattle when they went all
- 18:40Speaker 3: in on the young players, hit on their picks and
- 18:41Speaker 3: then put them right back in the tournament. Theirs on
- 18:44Speaker 3: the Cardinals will have an opportunity to orchestrate a similar
- 18:46Speaker 3: turnaround if they get it right on draft deck.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Yeah, and it does make a lot of sense to,
- 18:53Speaker 4: you know, to kind of run this back here. Look, Kyler,
- 18:55Speaker 4: I think probably had his worst game out of the
- 18:57Speaker 4: three since he's been back. I thought he made that
- 19:00Speaker 4: team dangerous again, and again that team still has a
- 19:04Speaker 4: lot of room to grow in terms of overall talent,
- 19:06Speaker 4: you know, on the offensive side, especially on the defensive side.
- 19:09Speaker 5: So you use some of that.
- 19:10Speaker 4: Draft capital to help supplement a player we've seen lead
- 19:14Speaker 4: this team, you know within a breath of the postseason. Man,
- 19:20Speaker 4: it feels like they've got some good young coaching there too,
- 19:23Speaker 4: that that's kind of tried to get the most out
- 19:24Speaker 4: of players like a Josh Dobbs, who made that that
- 19:27Speaker 4: offense competitive in every game they played, you know, for
- 19:29Speaker 4: the most part this season. I think that that could
- 19:33Speaker 4: go a long way. And you've probably and from all
- 19:35Speaker 4: the reports right that we've heard, like Kyler's been terrific
- 19:38Speaker 4: with this new staff seems to really like him. And
- 19:40Speaker 4: then there's a lot of good back and forth there
- 19:42Speaker 4: that could be pretty dangerous in that NFC West if
- 19:45Speaker 4: they're able to really maximize all those draft assets.
- 19:48Speaker 2: DJ.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Yeah, And you know, look, we talked about a mixture
- 19:52Speaker 1: of young and old, right, There's you got three third
- 19:54Speaker 1: round pick. Do you easily spend one of those off
- 19:56Speaker 1: for a veteran player that you like, You know, you
- 19:57Speaker 1: have the room to squeez him in underr salary. There's
- 20:00Speaker 1: a lot of different things they can do. A ton
- 20:02Speaker 1: of flexibility here for the Arizona Cardinals. In fact, in
- 20:05Speaker 1: the spring, I think this is going to be a
- 20:07Speaker 1: team we spend a lot of time focusing on because
- 20:09Speaker 1: they can use the next few months to transform their
- 20:14Speaker 1: entire team. So it'll be fascinating to watch what the
- 20:17Speaker 1: Arizona Cardinals do as we head towards the NFL Draft.
- 20:21Speaker 1: All Right, we're gonna take a little break. When we
- 20:22Speaker 1: come back, we are going to jump into the rookie draft.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Looks like walk hat a rebound weekend. He's back in business.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Baby. We'll get into that right after this.
- 20:35Speaker 1: All right.
- 20:35Speaker 2: We do this each and every week.
- 20:36Speaker 1: We have our rookie draft where we like to pick
- 20:39Speaker 1: a quarterback, a running back, and then a pass catching weapon.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Solid week from me. He got six points last week
- 20:46Speaker 2: courtesy a. CJ. Stroud and Za Flowers. Buck had a
- 20:49Speaker 2: big bounce back.
- 20:50Speaker 1: All three of his guys scored, with dtr quarterback getting
- 20:53Speaker 1: the second place finish. Bjon went in the running back
- 20:56Speaker 1: competition tanked Dell second, and the pass catcher's Rhett he
- 20:59Speaker 1: got a second place finished there with Gibbs at the
- 21:01Speaker 1: running back spot. So I'm holding on to first place,
- 21:05Speaker 1: but I feel like we're a little bunched up now.
- 21:07Speaker 1: It's a it's a tight race and uh and Buck,
- 21:10Speaker 1: it made up a lot of ground. So Buck made
- 21:11Speaker 1: a great had a great week. And your reward bucket
- 21:14Speaker 1: as you get to pick first today, buddy, congratulations.
- 21:16Speaker 6: Oh that's easy enough.
- 21:18Speaker 2: See dat come on down?
- 21:20Speaker 5: Dang again.
- 21:22Speaker 2: I knew that that was quick.
- 21:24Speaker 6: We need to bed this is easy.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Yes, that leaves me Bijeon with a huge bounce back
- 21:32Speaker 4: this last week with the two touchdowns, or Jamiir Gibbs,
- 21:34Speaker 4: who's been on fire lately. I actually like the match
- 21:38Speaker 4: up better with the Saints. So give me Jamiir Gibbs
- 21:41Speaker 4: Lions taking on the Saints this Sunday.
- 21:44Speaker 2: All right, you're gonna go with Gibbs. All right, that's
- 21:48Speaker 2: gonna leave me.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Gosh, I'm so conflicted up where to go here?
- 21:57Speaker 2: What we conflicted about?
- 21:59Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna go Tank Dell with
- 22:01Speaker 1: my first pick. I get two picks here, so I'm
- 22:04Speaker 1: gonna go tank Dell. And then I'm also gonna go
- 22:06Speaker 1: with Bijon. So that that takes care of that for me.
- 22:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I had to do it.
- 22:11Speaker 4: That's how the first four picks basically gone. I feel
- 22:15Speaker 4: like in some subway.
- 22:16Speaker 5: Shape more over the last few weeks.
- 22:18Speaker 4: Right right, So I'm back up and I am gonna
- 22:22Speaker 4: I'm gonna stack them this week. Boys, I'm going Sammy
- 22:25Speaker 4: Laporta as my receiver here. So I got Gibbs and
- 22:31Speaker 4: Laporta for the Lions offense getting back on track against
- 22:33Speaker 4: the Saints this week.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Okay, well, I know the Baltimore Raven's on the by week,
- 22:38Speaker 3: so Za Flowers is off the board. Let's go with
- 22:42Speaker 3: We're thinking about Jordan Addison as a pass catcher that
- 22:44Speaker 3: we need.
- 22:45Speaker 6: Uh running backs, he's got to buy. Jordan Addison is
- 22:50Speaker 6: on the buy two.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Like my god, Yeah, yeah, you got You've got like Pooka, Nakua,
- 22:55Speaker 1: You've got ming Jade Reid, Uh.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Josh down and let's go with Jano one.
- 23:02Speaker 5: Yeah no, I was, I was thinking about Jayden, but.
- 23:05Speaker 6: We go Pooka.
- 23:07Speaker 3: I stayed with the brand names. I stayed with the
- 23:09Speaker 3: brand names in Pooka. And then I need a running back.
- 23:11Speaker 3: I need a running back. Who else is on buy?
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah? We got a lot of guys on buys.
- 23:16Speaker 1: We have gosh, well you know what, well we got
- 23:20Speaker 1: running back wise, Yeah, Jill.
- 23:25Speaker 3: You got sharbon a Sharon Charone.
- 23:29Speaker 5: You are a big nice a nice oki buttery sharp.
- 23:33Speaker 6: But that's fine.
- 23:36Speaker 5: Wow, already, who's so it's me?
- 23:40Speaker 2: Right?
- 23:40Speaker 1: Oh no, yeah, no, yeah, you're up.
- 23:43Speaker 2: You're up, You're up right.
- 23:44Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it's all right. You have only been doing
- 23:46Speaker 5: it twelve weeks.
- 23:49Speaker 4: So sorry, I've gotta I've got to give my quarterback
- 23:55Speaker 4: here and I've got my my pick of the letter.
- 23:58Speaker 4: I just I can't do. I can't do Bryce Young
- 24:00Speaker 4: against the Bucks. Oh, I can't do it. I'm not
- 24:04Speaker 4: ready for that yet, although maybe they get the bump
- 24:07Speaker 4: with with all the change.
- 24:09Speaker 5: I don't know if dtr I I gotta go Will Levis,
- 24:13Speaker 5: I gotta go Will Levis, Will.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Levis, Titans, Mayo and my coffee, Golts, Mayo and my coffee.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Sometimes some calories are okay, all right, you guys. Uh,
- 24:24Speaker 1: this guy's taking a lot of abuse. It's not been
- 24:27Speaker 1: a great year. Just lost his coach, just lost a
- 24:30Speaker 1: couple other coaches. Uh, but we're gonna go with the
- 24:33Speaker 1: the the new coach bounce for Bryce young for my
- 24:37Speaker 1: last pick. So everybody's scared of him. I'm gonna embrace
- 24:40Speaker 1: him this week. I'm gonna say as his best game
- 24:43Speaker 1: as a pro against a good defense in Tampa Bay.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Do I feel great about it?
- 24:47Speaker 1: No? I don't. Okay, I don't feel grit about it.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Those those are the options that I had, and that's
- 24:52Speaker 1: what I had to do.
- 24:53Speaker 3: I'm sure sure that as far as confidence, I'm sure
- 24:55Speaker 3: you feel better running out of the tunnel. I'm sure
- 24:57Speaker 3: he feels better run out of the tunnel with that
- 24:59Speaker 3: strong endorsem his owner. Well, you know when you get
- 25:05Speaker 3: that pregame speech. Trust me as somebody who played when
- 25:08Speaker 3: I was at Northeast Louisiana now Louisiana Monroe and played
- 25:11Speaker 3: four SEC teams, I got plenty of those pregame speeches
- 25:13Speaker 3: where you can look in the coach's eyes and go, Nope,
- 25:15Speaker 3: he's got zero confidence.
- 25:17Speaker 2: We got this today. Boys, He's all right.
- 25:18Speaker 1: He's saying one thing that his body's telling me something else.
- 25:22Speaker 1: That's what I just did right there. That's gonna do
- 25:25Speaker 1: it for today. It was a fun one. Always enjoyed
- 25:28Speaker 1: the rookie draft. Somebody did bring up the idea by
- 25:30Speaker 1: the way of using defensive players one week.
- 25:32Speaker 2: I like that. I think we have to mix that in.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Maybe we'll do that next week.
- 25:36Speaker 1: I always appreciate you guys feedback, but that's gonna do
- 25:39Speaker 1: it for us to say.
- 25:39Speaker 2: I hope you guys enjoyed the show and we'll see
- 25:41Speaker 2: you next time. Right here on, move the sticks.
