- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, you know what I had to come to the realization.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Kind of want to share this with people, but you know,
- 0:09Speaker 1: I want to talk about there's a cost. There is
- 0:13Speaker 1: a cost. You know, when you make the decision to
- 0:20Speaker 1: be successful comes with a cost. And as much as
- 0:26Speaker 1: I've tried to negate the cost, as much as I've
- 0:31Speaker 1: tried to alleviate the cost, as much as I've oftentimes
- 0:35Speaker 1: just tried to not talk up the cost, the cost
- 0:39Speaker 1: is real. You know, I got in trouble, not really trouble,
- 0:44Speaker 1: but I got a bunch of haters that came online
- 0:46Speaker 1: one time when they saw me give a speech about
- 0:49Speaker 1: if you want to be successful, really really successful as something,
- 0:53Speaker 1: you can't sleep eight hours And I believe that, you know,
- 0:58Speaker 1: somebody counted it with Oprah says she gets eight hours sleep. Well.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Oprah's wealthy, though, but if you go back on her
- 1:08Speaker 1: journey and asked her when she was hustling trying to
- 1:12Speaker 1: make it what she getting eate, I don't think the
- 1:15Speaker 1: answer would be yes. Everybody I know that's grinding, that's
- 1:22Speaker 1: in the hustle, trying to really really have more than normal.
- 1:29Speaker 1: If you want above average, it comes at a cost.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And I've tried not to talk about it because I
- 1:38Speaker 1: don't want to, you know, knock anybody down about it.
- 1:42Speaker 1: But man, there's a cost for everything. And you know,
- 1:49Speaker 1: I know a lot of successful people who have health issues.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I've had my share of myself. Tommy can tell you
- 1:54Speaker 1: about his, Junior can tell you about his. All of
- 1:57Speaker 1: us can tell you about health issue. It's sometimes, you know,
- 2:03Speaker 1: it just it's a part of it. I don't know
- 2:06Speaker 1: how to explain it now. You don't want to sacrifice
- 2:09Speaker 1: one for the other, but sometimes it's unavoidable because there
- 2:15Speaker 1: is a cost. And a lot of times you end
- 2:17Speaker 1: up sometimes you have health issues because you just don't
- 2:21Speaker 1: know any better, you know, And that's why knowledge is
- 2:24Speaker 1: so important, because when you know better, you can do better,
- 2:27Speaker 1: you know. And had I known a long long time
- 2:30Speaker 1: ago that everything I put into my body was gonna
- 2:33Speaker 1: have an effect on me, I would have made some
- 2:35Speaker 1: changes a long long time ago. I just really started
- 2:38Speaker 1: understanding this in the last fifteen twenty years of my life.
- 2:42Speaker 1: You know, the how important eating the right thing is,
- 2:45Speaker 1: how important it is to take supplements, how important it
- 2:49Speaker 1: is to take regular visits to your doctor. And as
- 2:52Speaker 1: black men, I'm talking especially to black men. We find
- 2:56Speaker 1: it so hard to go to these doctors. I got
- 2:58Speaker 1: a partner right now, man that's trying to get out
- 3:02Speaker 1: the hospital right now because he ain't been to the
- 3:05Speaker 1: doctor in eight years. But he's seventy and he ain't
- 3:11Speaker 1: been to the doctor in eight years. We can't do
- 3:13Speaker 1: that because we've been grinding. And I understood something about
- 3:17Speaker 1: grinding recently. When you're grinding, grinding means actually to wear down.
- 3:23Speaker 1: But in order to have something, you got to get
- 3:25Speaker 1: in the wear down process, and the thing you end
- 3:28Speaker 1: up wearing down is your body. Now, I'm not saying
- 3:31Speaker 1: you should exchange your health for wealth. I wish that
- 3:33Speaker 1: wasn't the cost, but oftentimes that's the cost factor, and
- 3:37Speaker 1: people who don't want it you don't have to do it.
- 3:40Speaker 1: But then there's a cost with being poor. To see,
- 3:43Speaker 1: there's a cost factor when you decide not to be anything.
- 3:47Speaker 1: It's a cost factor when you decide I'm just gonna
- 3:50Speaker 1: ride it out, I'm just gonna mail it in. There's
- 3:53Speaker 1: a cost factor for that. I notice when old people
- 3:57Speaker 1: who've been working their whole life fire retire and they
- 4:01Speaker 1: don't and they to stop being active. I watch them
- 4:04Speaker 1: wear down dissipate, just wither away because that work, that
- 4:12Speaker 1: thing called the grind of getting up going to work
- 4:14Speaker 1: every day. It gave them something to live for, It
- 4:17Speaker 1: gave them something to do, It made them active. It's
- 4:20Speaker 1: just a cost, man, But you have to decide which
- 4:23Speaker 1: one of the costs you want to pay. Do you
- 4:25Speaker 1: want to pay the cost of being successful, or do
- 4:28Speaker 1: you want to be the cost you want to pay
- 4:30Speaker 1: the cost of being poor. Now, when I say poor,
- 4:33Speaker 1: I mean really poor. I don't mean like if you
- 4:35Speaker 1: make one hundred thousand dollars. I ain't talking about like that.
- 4:37Speaker 1: You're doing great, man, your life is good. I think
- 4:39Speaker 1: people are that that make one hundred thousand dollars doing
- 4:42Speaker 1: fine with your life. That's not what I'm saying, so
- 4:43Speaker 1: please don't misunderstand me. I'm talking about when you don't
- 4:48Speaker 1: have enough to eat, you can't put a roof over
- 4:52Speaker 1: your family's head, you can't get them to the store.
- 4:56Speaker 1: And then then you got to do more, man, You
- 4:59Speaker 1: got to do more. But it's a cost for it,
- 5:01Speaker 1: one way or the other. I suggest, though, if I
- 5:07Speaker 1: look back on it, all, you have to find a
- 5:10Speaker 1: way to create a balance. But the balance ain't gonna
- 5:14Speaker 1: be even even it's just gotta be. You got to grind,
- 5:19Speaker 1: you got to rest. You got to grind, you got
- 5:21Speaker 1: to rest, You got to grind, you got to rest.
- 5:25Speaker 1: If you just grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind,
- 5:30Speaker 1: then try to rest, the cost factors gonna be greater.
- 5:34Speaker 1: So find the balance for yourself. I can't tell anybody
- 5:37Speaker 1: what that is, but there is a cost to being successful,
- 5:42Speaker 1: but there is a cost to not being successful. And
- 5:45Speaker 1: you have to decide which one of the costs you
- 5:48Speaker 1: have to pay. Now that's just real talk. You can
- 5:50Speaker 1: say it ain't so, but yes, it is not being
- 5:54Speaker 1: able to provide for your family. That's a cost being
- 5:58Speaker 1: able to provide for your fam. There is a cost.
- 6:02Speaker 1: You have to decide which cost you're willing to pay
- 6:05Speaker 1: and then find a balance in there. That's what I
- 6:08Speaker 1: had to discover. So those are my closing remarks. That's
- 6:11Speaker 1: it for today. Hey, listen, y'all, have a great day.
