- 0:27Hi, this is Adam Troush. I coach cross country and track
- 0:30here at Lyon College in Batesville, AR.
- 0:32Today I'm going to walk you through the Lyon College Elite
- 0:36Cross Country camp. What it is, why we run it and
- 0:39what we do. It's just how we use two days in
- 0:43July to to work, build connection and push young
- 0:48runners in a way most of them have never experienced.
- 0:51It's called a Lyon College Elite cross country camp.
- 0:55It's about building development and it it's it's about being
- 1:01elite, being the best that you can be.
- 1:03It's about showing up with the right mindset and the
- 1:05willingness to grow. We open it up to any athlete
- 1:09entering grades six through 12. Doesn't matter if you're
- 1:12varsity, all state stated or brand new 6th grader trying out
- 1:15cross country for the first time.
- 1:17If you're willing to work, this camp is for you.
- 1:22We run the camp in two parts. It it's going to be July 18th
- 1:27from 5:00 PM to 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday morning on July
- 1:3219th from 8:00 AM to noon. 2 two days, two days of running.
- 1:40We, we split runners up by experience of them, so everyone
- 1:43gets challenged appropriately. We start with a with a welcome,
- 1:48we play, we play games, split everybody up into groups, have
- 1:54some some team challenges throughout the weekend for a
- 1:58team prize at the at the end, there's a short coaching panel
- 2:04of of myself, my assistant coach and some coaches around the area
- 2:08that have won state championships, ran in college,
- 2:13have extensive experiences and timing meets or meat management,
- 2:20running races, running themselves, running with their
- 2:23teams and how they have developed their programs.
- 2:29Then we trained we we have workout both days.
- 2:32Friday we typically do a fart lick workout and we tailor to
- 2:39the individuals. So it's it's out of
- 2:41one-size-fits-all. The volume is very it's going to
- 2:46range on your ability. And then Saturday we'll we'll do
- 2:52a long run starting from our campus.
- 2:58We, we train, we work on both days, feedback during and after.
- 3:03We teach strength, mobility, recovery, but we're not just
- 3:07showing it. We actually coaches as well too.
- 3:10We'll, we'll get you in the weight room and do a little lift
- 3:12after the long run on Saturday. We have mindset and racing
- 3:17discussions and they're very interactive.
- 3:19They aren't speeches, they're conversations.
- 3:22There's team challenges too, Not just to have fun, but to see who
- 3:26steps up, who leads, who competes and who who
- 3:29communicates. We coach the whole athlete here.
- 3:34We get to see, we get to see a lot of growth here at camp and
- 3:38this is our fourth year doing it.
- 3:41Started it in 2021 and it has grown and it reaches people from
- 3:48all over the region, Texas, Illinois, Florida, Alabama,
- 3:54Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi lot probably 1011
- 4:00states are represented here at Arcane.
- 4:05I I see what the athletes really are in 2 sessions I'll be able
- 4:09to find out who lists listens when you coach, who asks
- 4:12questions, who adjust mid mid run, who drags when they're
- 4:17tired and who picks up their group.
- 4:19And coaches are able to to watch as well as we conduct the camp,
- 4:24bringing your team, you know you're you're able to wear we're
- 4:30able learn a lot by watching them run and and how they
- 4:33interact with in the team challenges the the kids get to
- 4:39walk away a better understanding what it means to train with
- 4:41purpose. A sense of how how college
- 4:45recruiting works and and how college works, how it's
- 4:49different than high school. Real feedback on movement,
- 4:52mindset and their approach. Everyone gets A at shirt poster
- 4:57on snacks and they get to kind of see where they are and what's
- 5:01next. A lot of people leave fired up
- 5:06and, and we we stay in touch with them after they, they, they
- 5:10go home. And it's also a recruiting tool
- 5:14for us. And we have a lot of a lot of
- 5:16people on our team that have came to camp in, in their high
- 5:19school. So if you coach middle or high
- 5:23school in in the, in our Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee,
- 5:28Mississippi, you got a kid who's hungry, send them our way.
- 5:33We're really excited about our camp.
- 5:35It's about connection, development and and community
- 5:40here. Camp gives us a way to start
- 5:43that early, build that community and they can change, change the
- 5:47arc of their, their year or their career.
- 5:50So Lion College Elite cross Country Camp, September July
