- 0:19Speaker 1: Good morning and welcome to another Monday morning here on
- 0:22Speaker 1: our Morning Moments with Jesus here on our podcast. I
- 0:25Speaker 1: sure hope you have a great weekend and getting ready
- 0:27Speaker 1: for another productive week. Just want you to settle in
- 0:30Speaker 1: for just a few moments this morning. I've had some
- 0:33Speaker 1: that commented and said that during my devotions they think
- 0:36Speaker 1: they may hear wind chimes or something like that in
- 0:38Speaker 1: the far distance. I record these devotion times that we
- 0:43Speaker 1: have every morning inside my little podcast studio which I
- 0:46Speaker 1: call a little cabin. and right outside on the little
- 0:49Speaker 1: porch there's a wind chime, and for a while I
- 0:52Speaker 1: was trying to take that wind chime down to make
- 0:54Speaker 1: sure it didn't have any bleed over, but I think
- 0:57Speaker 1: it kind of adds to it a little bit, at
- 0:59Speaker 1: least it does for me to know early in the
- 1:01Speaker 1: morning or just whenever I'm here doing this that we
- 1:06Speaker 1: can kind of hear that gentle wind blow, and that
- 1:09Speaker 1: kind of reminds me of the Spirit of God just
- 1:11Speaker 1: kind of breezing through on our devotion times with us,
- 1:15Speaker 1: so I hope you enjoy today's devotion that's actually called,
- 1:20Speaker 1: Be Careful What We Call Not Enough. Sometimes we get
- 1:24Speaker 1: so caught up in what we don't have that we
- 1:28Speaker 1: miss a lot of times what we do have to
- 1:30Speaker 1: offer the Lord. And the Lord has always told us
- 1:33Speaker 1: throughout His Word that whatever we bring Him, He is
- 1:37Speaker 1: more than capable of multiplying it to meet whatever need
- 1:41Speaker 1: there is, whether it be our need or the need
- 1:43Speaker 1: of someone else. In John chapter 6, there's a story
- 1:47Speaker 1: told of Jesus Christ feeding the multitudes. And we know
- 1:54Speaker 1: that story really well, but there's something we need to
- 1:56Speaker 1: pull out of that this morning when it comes to
- 1:58Speaker 1: this subject matter of us being real careful of telling
- 2:02Speaker 1: the Lord the reason why we don't do something or
- 2:06Speaker 1: the reason why we don't participate is because we feel
- 2:09Speaker 1: like we don't have enough to offer. We need to
- 2:12Speaker 1: be very careful of that because The Lord knows the
- 2:16Speaker 1: gifts he gives us. He knows the amount that he
- 2:19Speaker 1: gives us. And he knows why we have what we
- 2:22Speaker 1: have and what it can do if we just put
- 2:25Speaker 1: it back into his hands. So I just want to
- 2:28Speaker 1: read the one verse this morning that Andrew made a
- 2:31Speaker 1: comment in verse number nine. When Jesus said, you know,
- 2:34Speaker 1: what do we have, basically? And he says, there is
- 2:37Speaker 1: a lad here which has five barley loaves and two
- 2:40Speaker 1: small fish. But what are they? Among so many. See,
- 2:47Speaker 1: Andrew had found a boy willing to share what he had.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Five barley loaves and two small fish. They were something.
- 2:54Speaker 1: They were something to offer. But, see, when Andrew looked
- 2:57Speaker 1: at the crowd, they seemed hardly worth mentioning. Why? Because
- 3:02Speaker 1: he asked the question that most of us would ask.
- 3:05Speaker 1: What are they among so many? What can this little
- 3:10Speaker 1: bit do to feed so many people? And most of
- 3:15Speaker 1: us know what it's like to look at a need
- 3:17Speaker 1: and then we look at what we have to offer.
- 3:20Speaker 1: And we see someone hurting, but we can't find the
- 3:23Speaker 1: right words. We sense God leading us towards something, but
- 3:27Speaker 1: we do not feel like we're ready for it. Maybe
- 3:30Speaker 1: we have a little time or a little strength or
- 3:33Speaker 1: maybe just one small idea. And we wonder how that
- 3:39Speaker 1: could make any difference in anybody's life. Well, that's where
- 3:44Speaker 1: we fall short because it's easy to call something not
- 3:46Speaker 1: enough when we measure it against the size of the need.
- 3:51Speaker 1: But that's not what Jesus was trying to teach. Jesus
- 3:54Speaker 1: did not dismiss the boy's offering. He never said, well,
- 4:00Speaker 1: that's good, but it's not enough. Go and find more. No,
- 4:04Speaker 1: he had the people sit down. He gave thanks. He
- 4:07Speaker 1: break it and he began to distribute or allow the
- 4:10Speaker 1: disciples to distribute the food. Everyone ate, and when the
- 4:15Speaker 1: disciples gathered what remained, the Bible says they filled 12
- 4:19Speaker 1: baskets with fragments of, yes, not enough, but it was
- 4:24Speaker 1: more than enough. See, that does not mean every offering
- 4:27Speaker 1: will lead to some great miracle that we can count
- 4:31Speaker 1: the baskets that remain. But sometimes, here's what the Lord's
- 4:35Speaker 1: trying to teach us this morning, sometimes we pray for
- 4:39Speaker 1: someone and never know what those prayers meant to them.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Sometimes we offer a few words of encouragement, and we
- 4:46Speaker 1: don't think that's much, but we do not hear the
- 4:48Speaker 1: rest of their story of how that encouragement got them
- 4:52Speaker 1: through a really tough time. We give what we can,
- 4:57Speaker 1: and God works beyond what we are able to see,
- 5:00Speaker 1: and we have to trust Him with that. So be
- 5:02Speaker 1: careful what you call not enough. The meal you share,
- 5:07Speaker 1: the visit you make, the kindness you show, or the
- 5:10Speaker 1: time you give, May matter more than you realize this morning.
- 5:15Speaker 1: You do not have to meet every need by yourself.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Bring what you have. But bring it to Jesus. And
- 5:22Speaker 1: let him show you what he can do with what
- 5:24Speaker 1: you bring. So perhaps today I guess what the Lord
- 5:27Speaker 1: is trying to tell us. Is you have been holding
- 5:30Speaker 1: back or have you been holding back. Because what you
- 5:34Speaker 1: have seems so small. I want you to remember the
- 5:38Speaker 1: boy in the crowd this morning. His small offering in
- 5:41Speaker 1: the right hands fed thousands with more to spare than
- 5:47Speaker 1: what he gave. Do not let the size of the
- 5:51Speaker 1: need keep you from offering what you have. Just do
- 5:56Speaker 1: your best to be your best and let the Lord
- 6:00Speaker 1: handle the rest. Place it in the hands of Jesus
- 6:04Speaker 1: and trust him with what happens next. Today you be safe.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Be strong and you'll be blessed. Allow the gentle breeze
- 6:14Speaker 1: of the Holy Spirit to flow through you today. And
- 6:17Speaker 1: don't tell the Lord you don't have enough. Just let
- 6:20Speaker 1: Him have what you have. And let Him show you
- 6:25Speaker 1: what He can do with it. Lord's will, we'll see
- 6:27Speaker 1: you back here again tomorrow. Until then, have a great day.
