Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to episode twenty three of Ravelio for
- 0:13Speaker 1: July tenth, twenty twenty five. I'm Amy, I'm.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Nicole, and I'm Tom.
- 0:35Speaker 3: So in this episode, it's the moment that we've been
- 0:38Speaker 3: waiting for, and I guess building up to we'll be
- 0:42Speaker 3: discussing mine and Amy's recent trip to Epic Universe. Tom
- 0:48Speaker 3: was there with us in spirit of course. Yeah, so
- 0:54Speaker 3: we wanted to talk about all the details of the
- 0:56Speaker 3: Wizom World of Harry Potter Ministry of Magic section of
- 0:58Speaker 3: the park, and we'll talk a little bit about the
- 1:01Speaker 3: park in general as well. But first.
- 1:08Speaker 1: You're listening to w W in the Wizarding Wireless Network.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Now for the latest headlines.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Okay, so this episode we are a little bit lower
- 1:18Speaker 4: on the news. There are not too many shockers as
- 1:20Speaker 4: the previous two couple episodes, but there's still some interesting
- 1:24Speaker 4: news that came in.
- 1:26Speaker 1: So.
- 1:26Speaker 4: The first is obviously well related to the Harry Potter
- 1:31Speaker 4: TV show from HBO, and it is that this series
- 1:34Speaker 4: has reportedly cast the Hogwartz Express itself a restored steam locomotive.
- 1:40Speaker 4: It is known as the Whitewick Hall and this beautifully
- 1:44Speaker 4: refurbished engine will served as the iconic train that sets
- 1:48Speaker 4: the students off to Hogwarts. And while it hasn't been
- 1:52Speaker 4: confirmed yet, the source, which is buck Rail Center, stated
- 1:58Speaker 4: and I quote, having once been better for scrap metal,
- 2:01Speaker 4: this stunning logo will now have the privilege of stepping
- 2:04Speaker 4: up to play one of the most well known steam
- 2:07Speaker 4: locomotives in the world, and this collaboration will ensure its
- 2:11Speaker 4: future for many years to come. So the reason why
- 2:15Speaker 4: it's not one hundred percent confirmed is because they haven't
- 2:17Speaker 4: said it's going to be the Hogwarts Express, but the
- 2:20Speaker 4: quote kind of speaks for itself.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Yeah, there aren't really many other steam engines in Harry Potter.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Some people are saying maybe it's a Narnia one because
- 2:32Speaker 4: there's this movie coming out like the But I mean
- 2:34Speaker 4: it's not, like it's not as iconic obviously, Like it
- 2:37Speaker 4: just appears I think in the first book, like I
- 2:39Speaker 4: don't in the first movie at least.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, but it does.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Look very much like the locomotive, like the Jacobite train too,
- 2:50Speaker 4: Like it kind of like very much resembles it.
- 2:53Speaker 1: So yeah, it does. So random fun fact, I really
- 3:02Speaker 1: get into the steam trains stuff because my I think
- 3:07Speaker 1: it's for great's grandfather invented the steam engine, so I
- 3:11Speaker 1: always think it's really cool when there's steam engine stuff.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Wow based in the family.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Yeah, Unfortunately, I'm not like an heiress to any fortune
- 3:21Speaker 1: that came with that because he basically died broke. But
- 3:24Speaker 1: good job, Richard Tremithick. Thank you for inventing the steam engine.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Because of you, the Howards Express exists.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Yes, it's great.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Nice. Okay.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Another news, Lego just released a magical news set, the
- 3:43Speaker 4: Chomping Monster Book of Monsters. Interesting title based on the
- 3:47Speaker 4: famous book from Prisoner of Azkaban. This five hundred and
- 3:50Speaker 4: eighteen piece set is both a built and a toy,
- 3:54Speaker 4: and it actually chomps and rolls using a pullback motor.
- 3:59Speaker 4: It also comes with another a long bottom minifigure, and
- 4:02Speaker 4: it's equally small version of the Monster Book of Monsters
- 4:05Speaker 4: and it's probably to fifty nine ninety nine. You can
- 4:09Speaker 4: get yourself one at a Lego store or any other
- 4:12Speaker 4: online store such as Amazon. And yeah, it's very it
- 4:16Speaker 4: looks very very fun.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Five hundred and eighteen pieces is a little daunting, yeah,
- 4:24Speaker 3: but I mean they just keep coming out. I think
- 4:27Speaker 3: a few episodes ago we talked about a bunch of
- 4:29Speaker 3: new Lego sets too, so they just keep coming on
- 4:33Speaker 3: through with really cool new Harry Potter Lego sets. They're
- 4:37Speaker 3: I mean, they're so fun to build. I have the
- 4:40Speaker 3: night Bus one, and there's so many ones that I
- 4:42Speaker 3: want to get, but I just don't have room for them,
- 4:45Speaker 3: like after I build them, and I don't have the
- 4:47Speaker 3: heart to like unbuild them after I built them to
- 4:50Speaker 3: put them away. So one day I hope to like
- 4:53Speaker 3: be able to get some of these ones that came through.
- 4:55Speaker 3: But I think it's cool that it also can has
- 4:59Speaker 3: like moving component to it as well.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Yeah, and they said that because it had a motor,
- 5:06Speaker 4: they thought it was gonna be five hundred and eighteen pieces.
- 5:09Speaker 4: They thought like, oh, it's gonna be really hard to
- 5:11Speaker 4: you know, to get through to build it, and they
- 5:13Speaker 4: were like, no, it's it was actually much easier than
- 5:16Speaker 4: we thought it would be, and it was very like
- 5:17Speaker 4: it was a lot of fun. So yeah, like interesting
- 5:21Speaker 4: to see it into practice because I didn't see like
- 5:24Speaker 4: a video of it like fully working. So so yeah,
- 5:28Speaker 4: it's it's definitely interesting how like kind of like they
- 5:31Speaker 4: take it up a notch and just bring in new things.
- 5:33Speaker 4: And yeah, I also really curious. Like I don't own
- 5:37Speaker 4: any Lego sets, but there is this because I always
- 5:40Speaker 4: have the impression that the Hogwarts model that they have
- 5:42Speaker 4: is like the humongous version that is like I don't
- 5:45Speaker 4: know how many pieces and it occupies like probably an
- 5:48Speaker 4: entire table.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Basically it's super huge.
- 5:51Speaker 4: But there's this other version that I think is around
- 5:54Speaker 4: one hundred something. I'm not even sure it's one hundred,
- 5:58Speaker 4: but like it's like this minion of Hogwarts that it's
- 6:02Speaker 4: really nice. And I saw it on a YouTube reel.
- 6:05Speaker 4: It's like, huh, I never see it, Like I had
- 6:07Speaker 4: never paid attention and it, you know, it was like
- 6:09Speaker 4: this would be a really nice like first purchase to
- 6:11Speaker 4: get this one because it's a lot more compact and
- 6:15Speaker 4: like you know, obviously smaller. So yeah, I'm now like
- 6:18Speaker 4: on the hunt for that one.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I didn't know they had. I knew they had the
- 6:23Speaker 3: big one and it's quite pricey like those bigger models,
- 6:28Speaker 3: but I did not know that they had a smaller
- 6:31Speaker 3: version of Hogwarts.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Yeah, me neither. So thank you to YouTube reels.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Well, now that's in your algorithm from looking at this
- 6:40Speaker 1: news article, so you're gonna get all the Lego reels.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Yeah, so yeah, go Lego. It's you know, doing its thing.
- 6:49Speaker 4: It's an easy cash grab also because people love them
- 6:52Speaker 4: and you know, and I don't think there's a person
- 6:55Speaker 4: who says I hate Legos.
- 6:56Speaker 2: It's I don't know, at.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Least stop bottom. They're very pull the step on.
- 7:01Speaker 4: Oh yeah, okay, So next up, As it happens every year,
- 7:10Speaker 4: even though summer is just getting started, winter it senes
- 7:14Speaker 4: and seems to be right around the corner for Warner
- 7:17Speaker 4: Brother's Sterio Tour The Making of Harry Potter, with its
- 7:19Speaker 4: now classic Hogwarts and the Snow feature calming this fall
- 7:24Speaker 4: and this year the Great Hall will be transformed into
- 7:27Speaker 4: scenes fround the Yule Ball as seen in Harry Potter
- 7:29Speaker 4: and the Goblet of Fire, and this whole decorating the
- 7:33Speaker 4: set as the Yule Ball has been kind of like
- 7:35Speaker 4: an on and off feature depending on the year, because
- 7:38Speaker 4: it's not always stressed like the Yule Ball. Sometimes it's
- 7:41Speaker 4: just traditional Christmas. I've seen in you know, SORCER's Stone.
- 7:44Speaker 4: But it makes sense to bring it back this year
- 7:46Speaker 4: for the twentieth anniversary of the movie. So so yeah,
- 7:52Speaker 4: like exciting to see this one back. And in addition,
- 7:55Speaker 4: the gryffin of common Room for Bid and Forest and
- 7:58Speaker 4: diagon Alley will be dressed for Christmas, and the Hogwarts
- 8:01Speaker 4: Castle model will be coated and snow using the same
- 8:04Speaker 4: technique used in the Harry Potter film series. And this
- 8:08Speaker 4: feature will be available from November fifteenth, twenty twenty five
- 8:12Speaker 4: to January eighteenth, twenty twenty six, and tickets are now
- 8:16Speaker 4: available on their website.
- 8:19Speaker 3: This is a really cool thing to see. I've gone
- 8:22Speaker 3: to Hogwarts in the Snow once before, and it was
- 8:25Speaker 3: before they added like the Forbidden Forest and expansions and
- 8:28Speaker 3: all of that. I mean, it's been like over a
- 8:30Speaker 3: decade since I've gone to the studio tour now, but
- 8:33Speaker 3: I did go, and yeah, when I went, the like
- 8:38Speaker 3: great Hall scene was just traditional kind of Christmas. I
- 8:41Speaker 3: remember there being some Christmas decorations in like the Gryffindor
- 8:45Speaker 3: dormitory set, like they had a reef and stuff up
- 8:47Speaker 3: and I think maybe a Christmas tree. But yeah, the
- 8:52Speaker 3: Hogwarts model at the end covered in snow is really
- 8:54Speaker 3: impressive and I remember just like looking at it being like, wow,
- 8:58Speaker 3: this must be like a nightmare to up at the
- 9:00Speaker 3: end of the feature because it is just it is,
- 9:05Speaker 3: so it's so many little pieces and I just imagine
- 9:08Speaker 3: like vacuuming for days to get all of all of
- 9:11Speaker 3: the pieces. But it is very pretty, so I'm glad
- 9:15Speaker 3: that they still do this every year.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Yeah, and so much work goes into it too, like
- 9:20Speaker 4: when they have to like, like you said, it's brushing
- 9:22Speaker 4: off like this the snow, not you know, like vacuuming
- 9:25Speaker 4: some parts, but also using like very special brushes, like
- 9:29Speaker 4: for very delicate parts because obviously the model has smaller
- 9:32Speaker 4: pieces that are I imagine are very very like fragile.
- 9:37Speaker 4: So it's it's definitely a lot of teamwork and a
- 9:40Speaker 4: lot of in every single year. And it's so funny
- 9:43Speaker 4: that they're already promoting it in the middle of the year,
- 9:46Speaker 4: in the middle of the summer. And yeah, like it
- 9:49Speaker 4: wouldn't be so weird for me when I live back
- 9:51Speaker 4: in South America where it's the winter time now, so
- 9:54Speaker 4: it kind of like made more sense now that I'm
- 9:55Speaker 4: living in actual summer in the middle of July.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's like, are you going to go tob hopefully.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Yeah right there now, I know, yeah, yeah, yeah, there's
- 10:07Speaker 4: so many things that I want to see, but yeah, definitely.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I'm planning to go.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Obviously before the year ends, for sure, so yeah, we'll
- 10:17Speaker 4: we'll see where it goes. And last, but definitely not least,
- 10:24Speaker 4: there is a birthday pop up happening in London on
- 10:26Speaker 4: July thirty first, to celebrate the Boy who Lived, Harry
- 10:30Speaker 4: Potter himself. And it's a one day event and so
- 10:34Speaker 4: totally free, but you need a timed entry ticket, which
- 10:39Speaker 4: means that it grants you entry to the event pop
- 10:43Speaker 4: up during a one hour time slot and you can
- 10:46Speaker 4: grab them starting July seventeenth through the Design My Night
- 10:50Speaker 4: website for on a first come, first safe, first served basis.
- 10:55Speaker 4: It's at fifteen Bateman Street, running from ten am to
- 10:59Speaker 4: six pm and there's a lot of fun stuff planned,
- 11:02Speaker 4: like a giant birthday card you can sign for Harry
- 11:05Speaker 4: face painting, photo ops with a life sized lego Harry Potter.
- 11:09Speaker 4: Speaking of lego, I themed Harry Potter cupcake tasting product
- 11:15Speaker 4: displays from Bloom Bloomsbury, Noble Collection and other distributors. This
- 11:20Speaker 4: is just going to be a display, it's not going
- 11:22Speaker 4: to be for actual sale, but it's nice because you
- 11:25Speaker 4: get to see different things that they're selling and like
- 11:28Speaker 4: they're featured items and merch and also costume displays from
- 11:33Speaker 4: the West End production of Harry Potter and the Chris Child,
- 11:37Speaker 4: prices and giveaways, and even a stamp card collection.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Hunt.
- 11:42Speaker 1: This sounds fun. Yeah, I love a good like street
- 11:47Speaker 1: festival kind of thing.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Yeah. I was just pulling up because I was thinking
- 11:52Speaker 3: of that Instagram reel that I shared with you guys
- 11:55Speaker 3: from Noble Collection that they were like teasing. I was
- 11:58Speaker 3: double checking the date. It's July twenty or July twenty fourth,
- 12:03Speaker 3: is the same of the day of whatever it is
- 12:05Speaker 3: they're releasing. But I wonder if whatever this new collection
- 12:09Speaker 3: is or something, if it will be on display at
- 12:12Speaker 3: this event a few days later.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm guessing it will be whatever it is, because
- 12:18Speaker 4: we don't even know if it's We don't even know
- 12:21Speaker 4: if it's Harry Potter related. Well for sure as well,
- 12:23Speaker 4: because people are saying it's like it could be Glinda's
- 12:27Speaker 4: wand or it could be something from Wicked movie because
- 12:29Speaker 4: it's still magic. But then like other people like it's
- 12:32Speaker 4: there's a lot of things and speculations going on. Honestly,
- 12:36Speaker 4: from that pick, I think I'm seeing some kind of
- 12:40Speaker 4: one stand for some reason.
- 12:42Speaker 3: I mean it's in the I mean it's in the forest,
- 12:45Speaker 3: Like the background is a forest.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Yeah, the esthetic looks very Harry Potter to me, But yeah,
- 12:52Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Yeah, there could.
- 12:53Speaker 4: There's even one of their one of their posts even
- 12:56Speaker 4: had the once like in the backdrop and they were
- 12:59Speaker 4: like floating there. But then, like, I mean, it could
- 13:03Speaker 4: still be magic from like I don't know, I'm guessing
- 13:06Speaker 4: it is Harry Potter because otherwise why would they promote
- 13:10Speaker 4: this ad with the wants from the films? Yeah, and
- 13:13Speaker 4: then the teaser that is like this blurred image that
- 13:17Speaker 4: is kind of like this silver thingy that I don't
- 13:21Speaker 4: know what it is, but to me it looks like
- 13:22Speaker 4: it wants toand but yeah, like I don't know, like
- 13:26Speaker 4: it could be It could be many things. And some
- 13:29Speaker 4: people are saying Fantastic four, Like I think they're being
- 13:31Speaker 4: a little a little too far fetched.
- 13:34Speaker 3: But the forest, I don't know if I'd say fantastic definitely,
- 13:37Speaker 3: maybe wicked, maybe a thing.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Like yeah, you mentioned Narnia earlier. I mean it seems
- 13:45Speaker 1: kind of early to get Narniage.
- 13:47Speaker 4: But the forest, the forest, Yeah, people saying Patrona's related to.
- 13:54Speaker 4: I don't know, like it could be many things. It
- 13:57Speaker 4: has to be something big though, Yeah.
- 14:00Speaker 1: And maybe it'll be on display at this.
- 14:03Speaker 2: So and so.
- 14:09Speaker 4: Yeah, that's all we have for the news today.
- 14:14Speaker 1: All right. So before we dive into our main discussion,
- 14:18Speaker 1: just a small spoiler warning here that we will be
- 14:23Speaker 1: talking about our experience at Epic Universe. So if you
- 14:27Speaker 1: want to go to the parks totally blind spoiler free,
- 14:32Speaker 1: maybe wait to listen to this episode. Obviously we're not
- 14:38Speaker 1: going to give away everything, but there are certain things
- 14:40Speaker 1: that we will want to talk about our experience, so
- 14:44Speaker 1: just a heads up and the warning. All right. That aside,
- 14:50Speaker 1: this is part four, the final part of our theme
- 14:54Speaker 1: park miniseries talking about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
- 14:59Speaker 1: minis Story of Magic at Epic Universe. I know we've
- 15:05Speaker 1: been following this theme park news for a while, but
- 15:09Speaker 1: I just wanted to give a little background first, since
- 15:12Speaker 1: we've done this for each of the other parks, so
- 15:16Speaker 1: just to refresh our memories here. This theme park was
- 15:20Speaker 1: actually announced back on August first, twenty nineteen, so quite
- 15:26Speaker 1: a few years ago. At this point, Universal announced it
- 15:30Speaker 1: was building a new theme park called Epic Universe, and
- 15:33Speaker 1: construction began that year in twenty nineteen. There was a
- 15:38Speaker 1: lot of super vague artwork released with that announcement in
- 15:42Speaker 1: twenty nineteen, and the artwork and initial maps of the
- 15:46Speaker 1: park in concept art did not confirm any of the
- 15:50Speaker 1: franchises that would be included in the park, but people,
- 15:55Speaker 1: being the super sluse that they are, were correct and
- 15:58Speaker 1: guessing all of the world that would eventually officially be
- 16:01Speaker 1: announced and included in the park, which is Nintendo How
- 16:05Speaker 1: to Train Your Dragon, Classic Monsters, and of course Harry Potter.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Speculation from the start was that there would be like
- 16:18Speaker 1: very fantastic Beast Heavy, which of course it is, which
- 16:22Speaker 1: is awesome, which we're going to get into more. But yeah.
- 16:28Speaker 1: So the park was originally slated to open in twenty
- 16:32Speaker 1: twenty three, but the COVID nineteen pandemic set that back.
- 16:37Speaker 1: As we all know, theme parks closed, layoffs happened. Universal
- 16:43Speaker 1: laid off a big chunk of their creative team which
- 16:47Speaker 1: would have been essential to getting this park together and built,
- 16:52Speaker 1: and also construction just totally stopped in July twenty twenty.
- 16:58Speaker 1: It wouldn't resume again until March twenty twenty one, and
- 17:02Speaker 1: at that point it was announced the park would open
- 17:05Speaker 1: summer of twenty twenty five, which it did. It opened
- 17:10Speaker 1: May twenty second of this year. So a long time
- 17:16Speaker 1: coming for sure, but it is open and we went
- 17:21Speaker 1: to the park. Yeah, so we actually we stayed at
- 17:31Speaker 1: Tarra Luna, which is one of the resort hotels this
- 17:35Speaker 1: right near Epic Universe. It is not the one with
- 17:39Speaker 1: a walking paths, so we did take the shuttle over.
- 17:42Speaker 1: It didn't take very long to get there, maybe like
- 17:46Speaker 1: tops like eight minutes, probably not even so once you
- 17:51Speaker 1: get there, walking up to the entrance, you enter the
- 17:54Speaker 1: main portal into Celestial Park, which is the hub of
- 17:58Speaker 1: the park. It's really pretty got all these fountains, The
- 18:03Speaker 1: Grand Helios Hotel is in the park, the carousels there,
- 18:09Speaker 1: which we got a private ride on the carousel during
- 18:13Speaker 1: early park country. That was pretty cool. Yeah.
- 18:18Speaker 3: I do think this the one thing about this, this
- 18:21Speaker 3: opening the Celestial Park part, that I feel like, I
- 18:26Speaker 3: don't know how you felt about this, Amy, but I
- 18:28Speaker 3: feel like, obviously, like we've seen so many pictures and
- 18:31Speaker 3: like videos and everything about like you know, the big
- 18:33Speaker 3: kronos that's there when you're walking in that has like
- 18:36Speaker 3: a little icon from each park, Like, yeah, it reminded
- 18:40Speaker 3: me of like when I went to Paris and saw
- 18:42Speaker 3: the Eiffel Tower for the first time, and that it
- 18:45Speaker 3: looked a lot smaller than I was expecting it to be.
- 18:49Speaker 3: But it's also like really cool at night because it
- 18:52Speaker 3: lights up. And I actually think that whole Celestial Park
- 18:56Speaker 3: area like they actually could have even made it like
- 18:59Speaker 3: more epic. I think like they could have made like
- 19:02Speaker 3: when you walk through to like and you're overlooking like
- 19:06Speaker 3: the water and the Grand Helios Hotel is in the back.
- 19:09Speaker 3: There's also a statue, Oh my god, the goddess Lunar,
- 19:15Speaker 3: like I can't remember the name, but I feel like
- 19:17Speaker 3: they could have made her even bigger, and even Gianmous
- 19:22Speaker 3: would have just looked really cool. Like I think they
- 19:23Speaker 3: could have just scaled that whole part of the front
- 19:25Speaker 3: of the park up even more. And I think the
- 19:29Speaker 3: other thing to point out too, with this walking in
- 19:31Speaker 3: kind of thing, which I texted Amy about this the
- 19:34Speaker 3: other day because I had never thought of this, but
- 19:36Speaker 3: I was listening to a review of people who stayed
- 19:38Speaker 3: at actually the Grand Helios Hotel and so their first
- 19:41Speaker 3: experience of Epic Universe was not walking through the Kronos
- 19:46Speaker 3: and that main part, which you know is part of
- 19:50Speaker 3: the experience of going to Epic because when you are
- 19:53Speaker 3: staying at the Grand Helios, you're entering the park from
- 19:56Speaker 3: the back of the park, like you're back behind, like
- 20:00Speaker 3: stuck in the middle of Dark Universe and was in
- 20:03Speaker 3: the world of Harry Potter, So you're coming in from
- 20:05Speaker 3: the back, and so that is definitely something I think
- 20:07Speaker 3: to take into consideration if you want to have a
- 20:10Speaker 3: certain experience when you go to the park for the
- 20:13Speaker 3: first time. I think like staying at the Grand Helios
- 20:16Speaker 3: is so cool, so like it might be something you're
- 20:19Speaker 3: willing to give up having your first experience be from
- 20:23Speaker 3: entering the back of the park because you're staying at
- 20:25Speaker 3: the Grand Helios, but it's definitely a different experience I think.
- 20:29Speaker 3: I think of it similar to like Epcot, Like if
- 20:33Speaker 3: you're staying on a skyliner resort, you're coming in through
- 20:35Speaker 3: the back in World Showcase, versus if you come in
- 20:38Speaker 3: on the bus, you're coming up to spacehi of Earth
- 20:41Speaker 3: and you're getting that experience.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Of walking in.
- 20:44Speaker 3: So just something to keep in mind of where that
- 20:47Speaker 3: is located. In regard to the main entrance of the park.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so when we went, we went during early park entry,
- 21:00Speaker 1: so an hour before the park like officially opens, because
- 21:05Speaker 1: you do get early park entry if you're staying at
- 21:08Speaker 1: the Universal Hotels. So here's the thing with early park entry,
- 21:15Speaker 1: and this is where we had to have a strategy
- 21:19Speaker 1: because we can't just go on a vaccasion and go
- 21:21Speaker 1: with the flow. You always have to have a plant.
- 21:24Speaker 1: So the parts that are open during early park entry
- 21:30Speaker 1: is Dark Universe and Nintendo. People run and line up
- 21:40Speaker 1: for battle at the Ministry even though that whole section
- 21:43Speaker 1: is not even open, so they line up outside the
- 21:45Speaker 1: portal to try and rope drop that, and people run
- 21:50Speaker 1: to Nintendo to line up for the ride over there
- 21:54Speaker 1: as well. So you kind of have to have a
- 22:00Speaker 1: plan in place, because like Nintendo's going to be jam
- 22:04Speaker 1: packed during early park entry and you probably won't even
- 22:07Speaker 1: really see anything, so it's almost like it's not worth
- 22:10Speaker 1: going over there, even though that's open for that extra hour.
- 22:16Speaker 1: So our plan was to go to Dark Universe first,
- 22:18Speaker 1: and that was actually really cool because it was pretty
- 22:22Speaker 1: much empty, so you could walk into Dark Universe see
- 22:28Speaker 1: Frankenstein's Castle the well with all the fog coming out
- 22:32Speaker 1: and like it's empty, the walkways are empty. So it
- 22:35Speaker 1: was really really cool. And we rode monsters on chain first,
- 22:41Speaker 1: even though it was delayed when we first got there.
- 22:44Speaker 1: When it opened up, we just walked on so much
- 22:49Speaker 1: so that we walked on twice twice in a row.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Yeah, we came out of the ride and yeah, I mean,
- 22:54Speaker 3: I don't know how much we want I don't know
- 22:56Speaker 3: if we want to talk by and like how we
- 22:57Speaker 3: want to structure this, if we want to talk in
- 22:59Speaker 3: like the way that we did the lands and then
- 23:01Speaker 3: you know or whatever. But yeah, we basically got off
- 23:05Speaker 3: the ride and I said to Amy, I was like, hey,
- 23:06Speaker 3: can we please do that again? So then we just
- 23:08Speaker 3: got right back in and so we wrote it twice before,
- 23:11Speaker 3: like within like the parks hadn't even opened yet for
- 23:15Speaker 3: like forty five minutes at this point, so we had
- 23:17Speaker 3: been watching, like the planners that we are, We had
- 23:22Speaker 3: been researching the like wait time for Battle of the Ministry,
- 23:26Speaker 3: like in the days leading up to it, to kind
- 23:28Speaker 3: of gauge, and we had found that, like yes a
- 23:32Speaker 3: Gamy said, everybody rushes their first thing in the morning
- 23:35Speaker 3: to get in line, so like if you're not one
- 23:37Speaker 3: of like those first people in line, Like you're you're
- 23:40Speaker 3: devoting a lot of time to waiting to get on
- 23:42Speaker 3: the ride, because instead of like getting other things done
- 23:46Speaker 3: like during that early entry time, you're using that time
- 23:52Speaker 3: to stand in line. So it's already yeah, yeah, you've
- 23:57Speaker 3: already waited an hour and then the park then you know,
- 24:01Speaker 3: Wizarding Paris opens, and then they open the ride and
- 24:04Speaker 3: then you I mean at that point at opening, a
- 24:07Speaker 3: lot of the weight was like one hundred and eighty minutes,
- 24:10Speaker 3: so like you know, we saw that that weight tended
- 24:13Speaker 3: to dip a lot more in the afternoon, So maybe
- 24:15Speaker 3: this is a little rebellio insider tip exclusive thing if
- 24:20Speaker 3: you're listening, like if you wait till the afternoon, like
- 24:23Speaker 3: that weight's gonna drop because all those people that rush
- 24:26Speaker 3: there in the morning ride the ride and then they
- 24:28Speaker 3: go off and do other things. And you have the
- 24:30Speaker 3: thing too, like especially if you're not people riding the
- 24:33Speaker 3: Battle of the Ministry are not not all of them
- 24:36Speaker 3: are huge Harry Potter fans, so they're not like there
- 24:39Speaker 3: might be just ride fans, right, so they're maybe not
- 24:41Speaker 3: hanging out in Ministry of Magic after they're just riding
- 24:45Speaker 3: the ride and ducking out. If you're not a huge
- 24:48Speaker 3: like Harry Potter fan and into doing wand magic or
- 24:50Speaker 3: wanting to see the show, I could see you not
- 24:53Speaker 3: really even wanting to stay in that area of the
- 24:55Speaker 3: park anyways. And then yeah, so it just the wait
- 24:59Speaker 3: time goes down a because they go off to do
- 25:01Speaker 3: other things.
- 25:03Speaker 1: And even though on the day we win, the wight
- 25:07Speaker 1: time didn't drop dramatically in the afternoon, that still did
- 25:10Speaker 1: hold true that that was still the lowest weight time
- 25:13Speaker 1: between like twelve pm and two pm. So even though
- 25:18Speaker 1: it didn't drop a whole lot, if you see it
- 25:20Speaker 1: drop a little, it's that time that's probably your best bet,
- 25:25Speaker 1: which I mean, we'll we'll talk about our experience with that,
- 25:30Speaker 1: but yeah, I think even though it didn't drop as
- 25:35Speaker 1: much as other days, that still definitely holds true. So
- 25:39Speaker 1: it's so unpredictable what that weight time is going to
- 25:42Speaker 1: be from May to day.
- 25:44Speaker 3: And then weather plays a role too, which we'll talk
- 25:46Speaker 3: a little bit more. That's kind of I think what
- 25:48Speaker 3: affected ours a little bit too, is that Epic Universe
- 25:53Speaker 3: is a park that is a lot of it's outside,
- 25:56Speaker 3: and so there are a lot of rides that do
- 25:58Speaker 3: go down when they're storms. And unfortunately, like Florida is
- 26:02Speaker 3: like a subtropical climate, so especially this time of year,
- 26:05Speaker 3: like you're gonna get rain every day, especially in the afternoon,
- 26:08Speaker 3: and so that can affect that weight time. Because Battle
- 26:11Speaker 3: the Ministry is obviously one of the inside rides, so
- 26:14Speaker 3: that might be where you see it fluctuate back up
- 26:16Speaker 3: in wait time. Yeah, during the like later in the afternoon.
- 26:21Speaker 3: But yeah, if you're okay with like waiting a little bit,
- 26:24Speaker 3: totally recommend going to those portals that everyone's not running
- 26:29Speaker 3: to first thing in the morning. I mean the amount
- 26:31Speaker 3: of people that Amy and I passed we went like
- 26:35Speaker 3: we went in and we went to the left because
- 26:37Speaker 3: we knew we were gonna go to Dark Universe first.
- 26:39Speaker 3: So if you walk in and kind of going like
- 26:41Speaker 3: left to right, like you've got Nintendo the Nintendo Portal,
- 26:46Speaker 3: and then you've got the Dark Universe portal, and then
- 26:48Speaker 3: the Helios and then there's the Wizard World portal and
- 26:51Speaker 3: then how to Train your Dragon. So there is this
- 26:55Speaker 3: like fork in the road like when you first get
- 26:57Speaker 3: in and you can tell where everyone's running to. The
- 27:00Speaker 3: amount of people that turned right, I mean they were
- 27:03Speaker 3: going to battle, right. I think there was also a
- 27:05Speaker 3: lot of there was a lot of people waiting outside
- 27:07Speaker 3: of How to Train Your Dragon as well, because there's
- 27:10Speaker 3: some popular rides there as well. But I'm sure like
- 27:13Speaker 3: ninety percent of those people that went right were heading
- 27:16Speaker 3: to Battle the Ministry. So we went left, and also
- 27:19Speaker 3: a bunch of people went left too. But as soon
- 27:21Speaker 3: as you get to that Nintendo portal and you just
- 27:24Speaker 3: keep you just everybody drops off right there. Everybody turns
- 27:27Speaker 3: to that Nintendo portal. And there was a man on
- 27:30Speaker 3: the bus ride over that was explaining to a woman
- 27:32Speaker 3: who had this was her first it was also her
- 27:34Speaker 3: first time there. He basically said that he's like, everybody
- 27:37Speaker 3: goes to Nintendo, and he was one hundred percent right.
- 27:40Speaker 3: I mean it just the amount of people that just
- 27:42Speaker 3: pulled over and got in that line, and we just
- 27:44Speaker 3: kept walking to go to Dark Universe.
- 27:46Speaker 1: So yeah, do that opposite of everyone else does?
- 27:51Speaker 3: Yes, And the thing is and it's and I under it.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Like obviously, riding Battle of the Ministry was a top
- 27:56Speaker 3: priority for us, right, and even though it was, we
- 27:59Speaker 3: still made that decision not to commit our whole morning
- 28:02Speaker 3: to waiting in that line. Yeah, And we'll talk about
- 28:07Speaker 3: it more later, but it did end up paying off.
- 28:08Speaker 3: We did get to write it. But yeah, that's a
- 28:12Speaker 3: little bit of a strategy, a tip, and I think
- 28:16Speaker 3: you have to remember too, right now, the park is
- 28:18Speaker 3: at reduced capacity, so I think, like we kept saying,
- 28:21Speaker 3: the whole day, it felt like the park felt empty
- 28:25Speaker 3: in a lot of ways. So I'm really curious to
- 28:28Speaker 3: see what happens when they go to full capacity. Those
- 28:34Speaker 3: people running to Battle Ministry in the morning and Super
- 28:37Speaker 3: Nintendo is going to be like double what it is
- 28:41Speaker 3: right now. So definitely good to maybe think that that's
- 28:46Speaker 3: not the best strategy you have the whole day there,
- 28:49Speaker 3: you know you will you will get to maybe not
- 28:53Speaker 3: experience everything, but we sure did not experience everything at all.
- 28:57Speaker 3: We went in with our priorities and like our non
- 28:59Speaker 3: negotiable and you just have to know you'll have to
- 29:03Speaker 3: come back for more. But yeah, no it's not. But yeah,
- 29:08Speaker 3: Dark Universe in the Morning was great. I will say
- 29:11Speaker 3: the only thing that kind of like, I'm a big
- 29:16Speaker 3: horror fan and classic Monsters fan, so I was other
- 29:20Speaker 3: than Wizarding World, I was most excited for Dark Universe,
- 29:23Speaker 3: and we never really got to go back over there
- 29:26Speaker 3: to see like the characters out, and then we did
- 29:30Speaker 3: have some rain and some weather. We'll talk about more
- 29:32Speaker 3: about this when we talk about Ministry of Magic as well,
- 29:35Speaker 3: but we just didn't get to experience a lot of
- 29:38Speaker 3: the characters. So that's definitely high of on my list,
- 29:41Speaker 3: Like next time I go, because Igor and Frankenstein and
- 29:46Speaker 3: Brida Frankenstein meet in Dark Universe. But yeah, first thing
- 29:51Speaker 3: in the morning, if you want to go over there
- 29:52Speaker 3: and get some really cool pictures and it being very empty,
- 29:58Speaker 3: that's definitely like the place to go. Yeah, And I
- 30:01Speaker 3: think even like I know, Curse of the Werewolf, which
- 30:04Speaker 3: is like the rollercoaster over there is a really popular
- 30:06Speaker 3: ride and I have seen that get really high weight
- 30:08Speaker 3: times during that early park entry. It was not like
- 30:13Speaker 3: a long wait either.
- 30:15Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, So after we explored Dark Universe and
- 30:24Speaker 1: rode the ride multiple times, did the carousel, all of that.
- 30:28Speaker 1: By the time we finished that up, it was ten
- 30:32Speaker 1: am and the other parts of the park were opening,
- 30:35Speaker 1: so we ducked over to Isle of Burke checked out
- 30:38Speaker 1: all the how to train your dragons stuff, hiccups, wing gliders,
- 30:45Speaker 1: wait time crazy, So we didn't do it. I would
- 30:48Speaker 1: love to do it sometime Toothless Meet and great same thing.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Weight time was crazy, but same as Dark Universe. The
- 30:58Speaker 1: walkways and everything else was like very empty. So in
- 31:02Speaker 1: line for the ride, yes, everyone was in line. We
- 31:05Speaker 1: kept saying that the whole day We're like, no one's
- 31:07Speaker 1: on the sidewalks, everyone's in line. But we were able
- 31:11Speaker 1: to walk around. There's a bunch of dragon animatronics just
- 31:15Speaker 1: kind of like tucked away, like little hidden details. So
- 31:18Speaker 1: that was really fun to kind of look at those.
- 31:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I was gonna say it was full of Tom's there,
- 31:23Speaker 4: like just rushing to the rides.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Yes, well, And.
- 31:26Speaker 3: It's funny because like I feel like with as Amy
- 31:31Speaker 3: and I have aged, we really realized this trip that
- 31:35Speaker 3: we are just not willing to wait if a ride
- 31:39Speaker 3: is over a certain amount of time. That was like
- 31:42Speaker 3: our whole trip, and so I think especially when you're
- 31:46Speaker 3: going you have one day. We had one day at
- 31:48Speaker 3: Epic Universe, you know, because it's not part of our
- 31:50Speaker 3: annual past. We had to pay for it, and like
- 31:52Speaker 3: we knew we were going to spend a ton of
- 31:54Speaker 3: time in Wizarding World, and so it's like you just
- 31:56Speaker 3: have to like, yeah, you have because you do. I mean,
- 32:00Speaker 3: if you're waiting in multiple lines for like two to
- 32:03Speaker 3: three hours, like that does eat up such a part
- 32:06Speaker 3: of your day, and so you really have to choose,
- 32:09Speaker 3: like are you there for that first time? Are you
- 32:12Speaker 3: there to experience every ride or are you there to
- 32:15Speaker 3: experience like the atmosphere, And like we wanted to make
- 32:17Speaker 3: sure we at least got to see every portal and yeah,
- 32:23Speaker 3: we talked about before. Amy and I are very like
- 32:26Speaker 3: environment people, like just being in the ambiance of it
- 32:29Speaker 3: all and everything, so that was kind of our priority
- 32:33Speaker 3: for this day. But like that could definitely be different,
- 32:35Speaker 3: Like I could see time, I could see you, like
- 32:37Speaker 3: I'm gonna wait in all these lines.
- 32:41Speaker 4: I'm just rushings get the one magic don't.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Yeah, Tom, you'd be the one rushing to battle administry.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean yeah, we would be like see you later,
- 32:53Speaker 1: have fun. Yeah, we're gonna go to Monsters three times.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Which spoiler alert I would be totally okay with. But
- 33:02Speaker 3: we'll talk we'll talk about more about that later. But yeah,
- 33:07Speaker 3: you have I think you do have to go in
- 33:08Speaker 3: a little bit with with expectations so that you don't
- 33:12Speaker 3: because things can happen. I mean when we went over
- 33:15Speaker 3: to Burke, like one of our kind of must us
- 33:18Speaker 3: was to see the show in Isle of Burke, and
- 33:22Speaker 3: unfortunately things didn't go as planned. We went over there
- 33:25Speaker 3: and we planned to catch the very first show of
- 33:29Speaker 3: the day so that we knew we got it. You know,
- 33:31Speaker 3: we got it in and we got it done. And
- 33:33Speaker 3: as we were walking up the you know, the cast
- 33:36Speaker 3: member said, I don't know, I don't know what they're
- 33:37Speaker 3: called it universal, that's it. That might just be a
- 33:39Speaker 3: Disney term. The worker was saying that they were having
- 33:43Speaker 3: some I don't know if it was technical difficulties or
- 33:46Speaker 3: entertainment difficulties or something, and basically told us we were
- 33:50Speaker 3: able to get into the line if we wanted to,
- 33:53Speaker 3: but they didn't know if the show was going to happen,
- 33:56Speaker 3: and so we did decide in that time to just
- 33:59Speaker 3: we were really hungry at that point too, so we
- 34:02Speaker 3: decided like we would just come back because the show
- 34:05Speaker 3: happens all day. Well I'm guessing or we're guessing that
- 34:08Speaker 3: that first show didn't end up happening and it did
- 34:11Speaker 3: not come back up for the rest of the day.
- 34:14Speaker 3: So sadly we did not get to see that show.
- 34:18Speaker 3: But that's what I mean about like your expectations, like
- 34:20Speaker 3: you have to like things happen, like even though it's
- 34:23Speaker 3: like it is in New Park, like things can go down,
- 34:26Speaker 3: things can go wrong, and you could let it ruin
- 34:31Speaker 3: your day or you could just say, hey, I'll catch
- 34:33Speaker 3: it next time i'm here. So yeah, that was how
- 34:38Speaker 3: our day kind of started. It was like this really
- 34:40Speaker 3: big high of dark Universe and everything, and then we
- 34:42Speaker 3: didn't be able to catch the show, but it was
- 34:45Speaker 3: all good after that. It'll just have to be a
- 34:48Speaker 3: next time thing exactly.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Yeah, so after that we did head over to the
- 34:55Speaker 1: Wizarding World because we were hungry, we needed food.
- 34:59Speaker 3: We knew we wanted to there.
- 35:01Speaker 1: That was our motivation. So yeah, you enter the Wizarding
- 35:05Speaker 1: World section of the park through the portal obviously, and
- 35:09Speaker 1: we know that portal features the beacon with the hand
- 35:12Speaker 1: holding the wand at the top and on the arch
- 35:15Speaker 1: there's a little time turner. On the sides there's wands
- 35:20Speaker 1: and a fun detail is on one side it's Harry
- 35:23Speaker 1: Potter wands and on the other side it's Fantastic Beast wants.
- 35:27Speaker 1: So it represents both eras of the Wizarding World.
- 35:31Speaker 3: So can I just say something about this beacon. I
- 35:34Speaker 3: like how I said that I felt like the Kronos
- 35:36Speaker 3: was like smaller than I expected. I feel like the
- 35:40Speaker 3: opposite about this beacon. Like it was so cool in person,
- 35:44Speaker 3: and I feel like it looked so I mean, I
- 35:47Speaker 3: guess how many times in this episode am I gonna
- 35:49Speaker 3: use the word epic? It just it just was like
- 35:53Speaker 3: I love the imagery of like the hand holding the
- 35:55Speaker 3: wand and like and so I already like that, but
- 35:59Speaker 3: it just it sits so tall, I feel like, even
- 36:03Speaker 3: compared to some of the other beacons, and it's like
- 36:07Speaker 3: gold and so it just like reflects in the sunlight
- 36:10Speaker 3: and it's just got this like majestic kind of feeling
- 36:14Speaker 3: look to it. Yeah, it's really cool in person.
- 36:19Speaker 1: It's so tall. It was very difficult to get a
- 36:22Speaker 1: selfie in front.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Of Yeah, I mean and I really we had to
- 36:26Speaker 3: really like angle and then you've got the bad like
- 36:29Speaker 3: face like chin angle. Like it's just it's very it's
- 36:33Speaker 3: very very tall.
- 36:34Speaker 1: We got creative. If you move way up to where
- 36:38Speaker 1: the benches are, prop your photo on the bench and
- 36:40Speaker 1: self time rate, you're golden.
- 36:43Speaker 3: Yes, yes, maybe not the best picture that there was
- 36:46Speaker 3: like one of their like photo Universal photo workers that
- 36:49Speaker 3: was standing right there, and I'm sure in his head
- 36:51Speaker 3: he was thinking, if these girls would just let me
- 36:52Speaker 3: take their picture, like it would look so much better.
- 36:55Speaker 3: But I didn't want to have to pay for a picture.
- 36:57Speaker 3: So if you were determined to get the picture ourselves spot.
- 37:03Speaker 1: Yeah. So at the top of the arch is the
- 37:05Speaker 1: time turner, and it's actually pretty cool because it spins
- 37:10Speaker 1: and as it spins, the spinning is on like a timer,
- 37:13Speaker 1: so it only spins like periodically. As it spins, it
- 37:17Speaker 1: makes the ticking noise. So it's kind of cool. Like
- 37:20Speaker 1: when you walk through the portal and it's spinning, you
- 37:23Speaker 1: get the tick.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Like you're traveling through time.
- 37:26Speaker 3: Yes, And if I remember right, I think the ticking
- 37:29Speaker 3: happened all of the time, but as it was spinning,
- 37:32Speaker 3: the ticking got quicker.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Oh okay, I didn't pick up.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I think it had. Like it's because all
- 37:39Speaker 3: the portals had like some kind of like sound kind
- 37:42Speaker 3: of going through them, like think like dark universe, like
- 37:44Speaker 3: lightning kind of that kind of sound. And so I'm
- 37:47Speaker 3: pretty I might be now again, I might be misremembering it,
- 37:51Speaker 3: but I feel like because I remember saying, Oh, the
- 37:53Speaker 3: ticking's getting quicker, so I feel like it ticked all
- 37:56Speaker 3: the time, but then.
- 37:59Speaker 2: The actual magic actually yeah.
- 38:02Speaker 3: And then as it starts spinning more, it starts ticking more.
- 38:06Speaker 3: And yeah, it's that whole like that you walking through.
- 38:09Speaker 3: Obviously it's not time for when like your everyone's walking through,
- 38:12Speaker 3: but yeah, it's like when you know, you see that
- 38:15Speaker 3: time turner starts going quicker and the ticking gets quicker,
- 38:19Speaker 3: And do.
- 38:20Speaker 4: You get that detail of actually going through a portal?
- 38:24Speaker 4: Do you get that like that sort of immersion feeling.
- 38:31Speaker 1: No, it's more just like an Archway, like the inside
- 38:36Speaker 1: is cool, like they all have.
- 38:39Speaker 3: Screens, yes, but yeah, so there's moving components to it.
- 38:44Speaker 1: It's not like like by comparison, like how you go
- 38:47Speaker 1: through the Flu network in Battle at the Ministry that's
- 38:50Speaker 1: super immersive.
- 38:52Speaker 3: Yeah, like Archway, I kind of just felt like I
- 38:56Speaker 3: was walking through a tunnel. Okay, you know, I think
- 39:00Speaker 3: they're all like, all the portals are really cool, and
- 39:03Speaker 3: I think like they there is immersive elements of it, right,
- 39:07Speaker 3: Like I think like Nintendo, like you walk in and
- 39:11Speaker 3: like you immediately go up escalators, which seems kind of weird.
- 39:14Speaker 3: But the whole time it's playing the sound like when
- 39:17Speaker 3: Mario is like going up, you know. So there's a
- 39:20Speaker 3: lot of nostalgic sounds there. But at the same time,
- 39:23Speaker 3: what I say, I felt like I was in the
- 39:25Speaker 3: game at that point, No, because I was on an escalator,
- 39:27Speaker 3: like which I ride all the time. But it's still cool.
- 39:30Speaker 3: It doesn't I don't in my opinion, it doesn't take
- 39:32Speaker 3: away the coolness factor of it. I actually kind of
- 39:37Speaker 3: liked the inside of the Dark Universe Portal even more
- 39:41Speaker 3: than the Wizarding World, with just the like lightning and
- 39:46Speaker 3: it was like purple and it was just and at night.
- 39:48Speaker 3: It was really cool. But I didn't necessarily feel like, oh,
- 39:53Speaker 3: I'm like going back through time, Nasha. I can't even
- 39:57Speaker 3: remember what was on the screens going into the Wizarding World.
- 40:02Speaker 1: I don't remember on the screens, but the panels next
- 40:05Speaker 1: to it was like gears.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Yes, it's that's it's that gear, the kind of thing.
- 40:11Speaker 4: Like clockwords, kind of teasing what you're going to go
- 40:16Speaker 4: up against in the Battle of the Ministry ride.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, there's a yeah, a lot of imagery and
- 40:22Speaker 3: like the gears and everything like that does play like
- 40:25Speaker 3: not to get ahead of ourselves. But that does play
- 40:27Speaker 3: a role in Battle of the Ministry, and like the
- 40:31Speaker 3: there there's a lot of like there are gears and
- 40:34Speaker 3: there's different forms of time turners and stuff like that,
- 40:36Speaker 3: like different like how they look. It's not just that
- 40:38Speaker 3: traditional one. So definitely setting you up. But the whole
- 40:45Speaker 3: portal concept I think was a very interesting way to
- 40:49Speaker 3: like get you in and out of the lands from
- 40:51Speaker 3: that like Central Hub, because they did do a really
- 40:55Speaker 3: good job is like in all I think in all
- 40:57Speaker 3: of the portals, I think maybe I feel like maybe
- 41:01Speaker 3: Isle of Burke is the least immersive once you're inside
- 41:08Speaker 3: because you can kind of see beyond Burke, But I
- 41:12Speaker 3: feel like all the other ones had that like diagon
- 41:15Speaker 3: alley feel of it, like once you go in, you
- 41:18Speaker 3: literally can't see anything else from the parks. So the
- 41:22Speaker 3: portal it was a really good way to like transport
- 41:25Speaker 3: you into that and it did make every section feel
- 41:28Speaker 3: like its own little like area. Yeah, but yeah, so
- 41:35Speaker 3: I wouldn't say that that part was the most immersive part.
- 41:38Speaker 3: Actually think the more immersive part for we're visiting Paris
- 41:44Speaker 3: comes like after you're through the portal and you kind
- 41:48Speaker 3: of go like you go through the portal and then
- 41:51Speaker 3: there's the like the Metro like Paris kind of map,
- 41:56Speaker 3: and then you walk around a corner and then in
- 41:59Speaker 3: front of you is.
- 42:00Speaker 1: The why can't place Cachet?
- 42:07Speaker 3: Yeah, place cachet, like the big the phoenix archway. That's
- 42:13Speaker 3: that's the word I was looking and I think once
- 42:16Speaker 3: you're there, that's where I felt the immersion.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, so yeah, that archway is really cool because
- 42:28Speaker 1: the big phoenix over it. You it's not visible from
- 42:33Speaker 1: the quote unquote muggle side, so as once you walk
- 42:37Speaker 1: through the archway and you're on the magical side and
- 42:39Speaker 1: turn around, then it's that big grand phoenix up there.
- 42:43Speaker 1: All of the carvings on this archway, the details are amazing,
- 42:48Speaker 1: Like it's so cool. There's all these different creatures on there.
- 42:52Speaker 1: We were laughing at the little man Drakes who are
- 42:55Speaker 1: like at the bottom of like their mouths open screaming.
- 43:00Speaker 3: And it's just he's the one there. I can picture
- 43:02Speaker 3: it so clearly. He's just like sitting there and he's
- 43:06Speaker 3: got this big round belly that's just like hanging out
- 43:09Speaker 3: and he's just like it's just so cute. I just
- 43:14Speaker 3: loved it. But it's yeah, it's really like it's that
- 43:20Speaker 3: I don't know. I mean, it's I don't think this
- 43:22Speaker 3: necessarily is like the force perspective kind of thing, but
- 43:25Speaker 3: just the way that they're able to like hide certain things,
- 43:29Speaker 3: like it's so like truly like you can't you do
- 43:34Speaker 3: get such a different I don't. I don't know. I
- 43:36Speaker 3: can't even like put it into words, like walking through
- 43:40Speaker 3: that archway and then turning around and look at at it,
- 43:43Speaker 3: like it's hard to even believe, like it's the same
- 43:47Speaker 3: archway that you saw from like the Muggle side. And
- 43:52Speaker 3: I remember that like originally, and I don't know if
- 43:54Speaker 3: you had caught this aim, and it could have just
- 43:56Speaker 3: been because I was just so like, oh my god,
- 43:57Speaker 3: we're here. But I remember, like we talked about this
- 44:00Speaker 3: in a prior episode that back when they first started
- 44:04Speaker 3: announcing details of the park. I remember on the official
- 44:07Speaker 3: Universal podcast they had some people from the creative team
- 44:10Speaker 3: that came on and they talked about how in the
- 44:13Speaker 3: front of that park there you would hear like sounds
- 44:18Speaker 3: like people talking in car vehicles and like something to
- 44:22Speaker 3: like really kind of immerse you into, like as if
- 44:25Speaker 3: you were walking onto a Paris street. I don't remember
- 44:28Speaker 3: hearing that at all. And I don't know if it
- 44:30Speaker 3: was just because it was maybe more toned down, but
- 44:35Speaker 3: I mean, again, like when we were talking about how
- 44:37Speaker 3: like the pathways and everything were very empty when we
- 44:40Speaker 3: first went into the Wizarding World, like we got to
- 44:43Speaker 3: really explore that whole area with very little people on
- 44:46Speaker 3: the street. And again because like everybody was in line
- 44:51Speaker 3: for Battle of the Ministry, so like when we like
- 44:54Speaker 3: went to get food, like when we were walking, I mean,
- 44:57Speaker 3: there was just it didn't feel like I think of
- 45:00Speaker 3: like when you're at Islands of Adventure and you walk
- 45:02Speaker 3: into Hogsmead and you're just like, oh my god, like
- 45:04Speaker 3: I can't there's wall to wall people like, and I
- 45:08Speaker 3: think diagon Alley can get like that a little bit too,
- 45:11Speaker 3: especially in that walkway leading up to Gringotts, But like
- 45:15Speaker 3: we didn't get that feeling at all there. I mean,
- 45:18Speaker 3: we were just bopping around and walking like and just
- 45:20Speaker 3: everything was pulling our attention and we were able to
- 45:23Speaker 3: do that. We weren't having to weave between people. I
- 45:26Speaker 3: do think as the day went on it got a
- 45:27Speaker 3: little bit busier, but that first thing in the morning
- 45:31Speaker 3: was so nice to explore everything, So I don't know
- 45:33Speaker 3: what those sounds like, if it just was quiet, or
- 45:36Speaker 3: if I just was so excited to be there I
- 45:39Speaker 3: just didn't hear it. But I realized that after the
- 45:41Speaker 3: fact that I don't remember hearing that when we.
- 45:43Speaker 1: First walked in yet, so I don't know.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Yeah, And I mean when you walked back, like further
- 45:50Speaker 3: into the land is when you start to hear the
- 45:52Speaker 3: traditional like Harry Potter music like they play in all
- 45:55Speaker 3: the lands. But I think even that it's like it's
- 45:58Speaker 3: not super loud, like it's super kind of just ambient
- 46:01Speaker 3: kind of you know sound.
- 46:04Speaker 1: And it is from the Fantastic Beast soundtrack, which made
- 46:07Speaker 1: me very happy.
- 46:09Speaker 3: They did play some Harry Yeah, they did play some
- 46:11Speaker 3: Harry Potter things too, but they also included Fantastic Beast music.
- 46:15Speaker 2: As well, giving it that little push yep. Yes.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Yeah, So, just like with the other theme parks, I
- 46:28Speaker 1: wanted to discuss like some of the major parts of
- 46:32Speaker 1: this park. Obviously, the big like shop attraction is the
- 46:39Speaker 1: wand Shop, which is cosme Ekasor's wand Shop. Yeah, this
- 46:46Speaker 1: store is really cool, just like Olivander, super crowded.
- 46:51Speaker 3: Cannot That's one thing they definitely did not improve on
- 46:55Speaker 3: is all of some I don't know what, for what reason,
- 46:58Speaker 3: all of the WAND stores have to be so tiny
- 47:02Speaker 3: and it just is. So it's like, yeah, that was
- 47:07Speaker 3: That's probably like the worst of the shopping experiences, only
- 47:10Speaker 3: because of how busy it is in there and how
- 47:13Speaker 3: little space there is and like, yeah, it's a little
- 47:17Speaker 3: hard to move around in there.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but I did enjoy what I could see of
- 47:26Speaker 1: the displays. It was very hard to battle to get
- 47:29Speaker 1: in there to see it. But the displays for each
- 47:33Speaker 1: wand were really cool. They were each unique, and they
- 47:36Speaker 1: had like different little wand stands, Like there was one
- 47:40Speaker 1: that was like a stand made of butterflies and the
- 47:42Speaker 1: wand was like nestled in it. So those are pretty cool.
- 47:48Speaker 1: The WAND boxes, like we've talked about, they're the triangle
- 47:52Speaker 1: shape and they're actually different colors depending on which WAND
- 47:56Speaker 1: it is, which is kind of fun. So I got
- 48:01Speaker 1: the read wand, which is like the brown wood color
- 48:06Speaker 1: with a patina green blue handle, and that came in
- 48:10Speaker 1: like a really bright red box, so yeah, they're pretty cool.
- 48:15Speaker 3: I got the Willow WAND, which came in one of
- 48:19Speaker 3: the blue boxes, and the willow wand is the one
- 48:22Speaker 3: that's got the like light kind of tan like on
- 48:26Speaker 3: the length, and then it has the siren on like
- 48:31Speaker 3: the leaf with the mermaid siren on it. I think
- 48:37Speaker 3: that one thing too about it, like Cosmes definitely does
- 48:42Speaker 3: feel different than Olivanders, and I think they they really
- 48:46Speaker 3: did capture that whole, like and I know that's what
- 48:48Speaker 3: they were going for, but was like that difference between
- 48:51Speaker 3: the like more rustic feeling of something like Olivanders versus
- 48:56Speaker 3: the more elegant Parisian style Cosmes. You felt that there
- 49:01Speaker 3: was this giant chandelier that had little like like Cornish
- 49:07Speaker 3: pixies on it, and I think they had little wands
- 49:10Speaker 3: in their hands too, and it was very like just elegant,
- 49:15Speaker 3: very like bright in there because like the way the
- 49:17Speaker 3: windows are it lets a lot of light in. And
- 49:20Speaker 3: then obviously the chandelier, like Amy said, even those like
- 49:24Speaker 3: the cases of how they displayed the wands like it
- 49:26Speaker 3: just had this like elevated, elegant feel to it that
- 49:31Speaker 3: fit very well with the Paris theme.
- 49:34Speaker 2: Because Ollivander's is the opposite, right, It's like dim light.
- 49:39Speaker 3: It's very British rustic.
- 49:41Speaker 4: Yeah, rustic, everything is kind of like messy, like like
- 49:44Speaker 4: Ollivanders himself, you know, like when you see him, so
- 49:48Speaker 4: interesting comparison, how different they are like and how they
- 49:51Speaker 4: offer each offer is something new and uh cool, cool
- 49:55Speaker 4: to hear that.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Yeah, Alvanders is like very like utilitary, like you go
- 50:00Speaker 1: there because you need a wand maker. Cosmes is more
- 50:07Speaker 1: like boutique.
- 50:08Speaker 3: Mm hmm, that's it. It felt like a boutique. Yeah,
- 50:10Speaker 3: I mean, and then even you describing, like, you know,
- 50:13Speaker 3: Olivander being a little like disheveled and stuff. Well, as
- 50:16Speaker 3: I was checking out, Cosme popped out and went over
- 50:18Speaker 3: and talked to Amy. I think we had mentioned in
- 50:21Speaker 3: a previous episode that Cosme is one of the Roman
- 50:24Speaker 3: characters in this Land, and sadly the only one that
- 50:29Speaker 3: we got to experience. Due to like rain and some
- 50:35Speaker 3: storms and stuff. We did not get to see the ores,
- 50:38Speaker 3: which I was really looking forward to. We did not
- 50:40Speaker 3: get to see the students, which I was also looking
- 50:43Speaker 3: forward to. But Amy did get a nice little interaction
- 50:46Speaker 3: with Cosme, and she is very not the dishevel.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Oh she's fabulous.
- 50:52Speaker 2: She is.
- 50:53Speaker 3: She is fabulous. She is just elegant. She is very
- 50:57Speaker 3: different than Olivander.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yep. She came up to me and she asked
- 51:04Speaker 1: me what wand I got and I showed her and
- 51:06Speaker 1: she said, oh, you have exquisite taste, my dear. And
- 51:09Speaker 1: then she was like, well, are you going to practice
- 51:12Speaker 1: because practice makes you more powerful? And I was like, yes,
- 51:15Speaker 1: i am.
- 51:17Speaker 2: Did you have that little French accent?
- 51:20Speaker 1: Oh? Yes, oh yes, she was very French. It was cute.
- 51:27Speaker 1: M Yeah.
- 51:28Speaker 3: And then yeah, I heard as we were walking out
- 51:30Speaker 3: she kind of just started like popping around to different
- 51:32Speaker 3: people in the shop and you know, asking them, yeah,
- 51:35Speaker 3: like what ones they were looking at, and you know,
- 51:38Speaker 3: and of course her whole philosophy is not the wand
- 51:42Speaker 3: chooses the wizard. You know, it's more like you kind of,
- 51:44Speaker 3: you know, choose the wand that calls to you. And
- 51:48Speaker 3: so yeah, it's really cool to have her, to see
- 51:50Speaker 3: her walking around, and I know we've talked a lot
- 51:52Speaker 3: about Roman characters and the the pros and not the
- 51:56Speaker 3: not the pros and cons of it, but like, I'm
- 51:59Speaker 3: just hoping that it's thing that can continue because it's
- 52:03Speaker 3: really it's definitely really cool.
- 52:04Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, that was fun. Yeah.
- 52:09Speaker 3: So we also before we moved from the wand shop,
- 52:13Speaker 3: Amy and I also we had teased this before and
- 52:16Speaker 3: that we were both planning to purchase two ons, and
- 52:19Speaker 3: we did.
- 52:20Speaker 1: We did count but.
- 52:22Speaker 3: You know, whatever, whatever it is, so we and we'll
- 52:26Speaker 3: talk more about this later when we talk about wand magics.
- 52:29Speaker 3: But we each had to get a cosme wand because
- 52:31Speaker 3: like duh, you know, but because they're just first generation ones,
- 52:36Speaker 3: I did kind of just get it just for display.
- 52:39Speaker 3: And Amy and I both purchased the Epic exclusive second generation,
- 52:44Speaker 3: which is the one that is modeled after the Phoenix
- 52:47Speaker 3: arch and it's almost too pretty to use as a
- 52:50Speaker 3: second generation. I was really nervous the whole time I
- 52:54Speaker 3: was using it, but it's so pretty in person. And
- 52:56Speaker 3: there is like a little Phoenix stand that you can
- 52:58Speaker 3: buy to like display the wand on as well. It's massive,
- 53:02Speaker 3: like the stand is huge. So I did not get it.
- 53:06Speaker 3: But but yeah, so Amy and I both got those wands,
- 53:10Speaker 3: and then I think we both got the little magnet
- 53:12Speaker 3: that was a replica of the chandelier that was in
- 53:17Speaker 3: cos it was a magnet. Wish it was a pin,
- 53:20Speaker 3: but it's okay. There was some other merchandise there too,
- 53:23Speaker 3: like there was a wand pin that you could get.
- 53:26Speaker 3: So there was a few other things. There's some If
- 53:29Speaker 3: you want to get a Cosme bag, like the bag,
- 53:32Speaker 3: you do have to pay for it. I did get
- 53:35Speaker 3: one and then was like, why why did I get this?
- 53:38Speaker 3: It's just gonna probably go in a closet, but I
- 53:39Speaker 3: feel like I needed it because I have the Alvander's bag.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Well, when I was at the register, the girl at
- 53:44Speaker 1: the register got a little chuckle out of me because
- 53:47Speaker 1: I go up with my two wands and she's like, oh,
- 53:50Speaker 1: that'll be such and such. Do you want to spend
- 53:53Speaker 1: three dollars and get the bag? I was like, well
- 53:56Speaker 1: at this point, sure, what do you say, laughing?
- 54:02Speaker 3: I just dropped how much money? What's another three dollars?
- 54:07Speaker 1: Throw it on my tab?
- 54:09Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's what's the whole philosophy of the whole
- 54:12Speaker 3: trub is just putting on the tab. But yeah, so
- 54:15Speaker 3: there is other merchandise there. There is some like bags,
- 54:18Speaker 3: like there's actually like a handbag that shapes the same
- 54:21Speaker 3: as the Cosme box and it fits like the Wand
- 54:26Speaker 3: box in it and your wand and you can use
- 54:28Speaker 3: it to carry it around. There's some other merchandise things
- 54:32Speaker 3: in there, as well other than just ones that I
- 54:34Speaker 3: feel like we don't have in olive vanders like other
- 54:37Speaker 3: types of merchandise.
- 54:39Speaker 1: Yeah, which also like added to that boutique feel as well,
- 54:43Speaker 1: because it was more than just ones.
- 54:46Speaker 4: Mm hmm, like fashion integration yeah, wand fashion mm hmm.
- 54:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:54Speaker 3: And if you're already spending that much on two ones,
- 54:56Speaker 3: why not throw something else in?
- 54:58Speaker 1: Why not?
- 55:00Speaker 2: Point?
- 55:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah. So for lunch, we went over to Cafe
- 55:09Speaker 1: lair Day La Sern, which is like the French cafe and.
- 55:15Speaker 3: This place is so cool. Before we talk about what
- 55:18Speaker 3: we ate, we have to talk about just like.
- 55:20Speaker 1: The I'm jumping to the food.
- 55:22Speaker 3: You're jumping right to the food. I'm gonna coup to
- 55:24Speaker 3: the details before we can get to the food. Okay, fine,
- 55:28Speaker 3: Like right, So I mean I will have to say
- 55:30Speaker 3: I have just so many great things to say about
- 55:32Speaker 3: both of the restaurants in this park, like like so
- 55:36Speaker 3: many great things because I'm a sucker for the details.
- 55:38Speaker 3: So I think that they just did such a great
- 55:42Speaker 3: job with this from like the fact that they're seating
- 55:44Speaker 3: outdoors and you literally can feel like you're sitting at like,
- 55:48Speaker 3: you know, on a street in Paris because you're so
- 55:51Speaker 3: it's so immersive you can't see anything else. You're just
- 55:53Speaker 3: sitting on the street and you're looking over and there's
- 55:55Speaker 3: all these buildings that look like they came straight out
- 55:57Speaker 3: of Paris. And then like I was just I remember
- 56:02Speaker 3: just being so like blown away of like walking into
- 56:05Speaker 3: this place because like I had obviously seen pictures, I've
- 56:07Speaker 3: seen spoilers, I've watched videos, like I knew what it
- 56:10Speaker 3: looked like in there, but like it's not like though
- 56:14Speaker 3: the videos, the pictures all of that, Like I truly
- 56:18Speaker 3: do not think it does it justice compared to actually
- 56:20Speaker 3: being there. I mean the details in like this wallpaper
- 56:24Speaker 3: that they had that like had all these different magical creatures,
- 56:27Speaker 3: and then it was just so you walk in in
- 56:30Speaker 3: this bar like I mean there was like a bar
- 56:33Speaker 3: and it was.
- 56:34Speaker 1: Just like it was huge in there too. I did
- 56:37Speaker 1: not think it was that big.
- 56:39Speaker 3: I do think the mirrors made it feel bigger. So
- 56:41Speaker 3: they have like they had like one wall that was
- 56:44Speaker 3: like it's just all mirrors. So it just opened up
- 56:46Speaker 3: the place. But there's just so much gorgeous artwork, Like
- 56:49Speaker 3: they have like these tile pieces and they're like there's
- 56:53Speaker 3: one from each of like the wizarding schools, like so
- 56:57Speaker 3: much representation beyond just Hogwarts this park and they're holding
- 57:02Speaker 3: different like magical creatures, and just I feel like, again
- 57:06Speaker 3: like we always say this universal if you're listening, you
- 57:09Speaker 3: need to sell prints of the art in.
- 57:12Speaker 1: This postcard packs. Yeah, each of those paintings.
- 57:17Speaker 3: That would be perfect, Yes, because I would buy it immediately.
- 57:23Speaker 3: I'm sure other people would as well. And just I
- 57:28Speaker 3: mean just all the artwork and all of these like
- 57:30Speaker 3: all these places, I'm just like, I don't know, it
- 57:33Speaker 3: was just so it's so pretty in there, and it's
- 57:36Speaker 3: so crazy to think.
- 57:38Speaker 2: That it's like they were all designed by.
- 57:42Speaker 3: I don't know about those.
- 57:44Speaker 1: If those artworks were.
- 57:47Speaker 3: I know of I would make it seems like they
- 57:50Speaker 3: would be. I mean there's tons of like when you
- 57:52Speaker 3: walk in the park. We didn't really talk about this,
- 57:54Speaker 3: but there's tons of like ads all over the walls
- 57:57Speaker 3: that are very clearly obviously me and a Lima there.
- 58:00Speaker 3: It's their signature style. Yeah, I me and Knowlema should
- 58:06Speaker 3: get if they did design those, they should get on
- 58:08Speaker 3: selling these because they're just so pretty. Yeah. And I
- 58:12Speaker 3: think when we walked in, I think the girls said
- 58:15Speaker 3: like bonjour, like to us, like, there's definitely just those
- 58:18Speaker 3: little details that helped create like just the immersion like
- 58:22Speaker 3: of where you are. But if you're somebody that is
- 58:25Speaker 3: really into art and details and stuff like this place
- 58:30Speaker 3: will be right up your alley. But yeah, okay, now
- 58:34Speaker 3: you can talk about the tree.
- 58:39Speaker 1: So yeah. For lunch, we both got the Keysche Lorraine
- 58:44Speaker 1: and the phrase I think that's how you say it,
- 58:47Speaker 1: which is like their specialty drink, which is a strawberry
- 58:50Speaker 1: mint iced team And it.
- 58:54Speaker 4: Was very good, especially in the heat that be so
- 58:58Speaker 4: refreshing it was, and it.
- 59:01Speaker 3: Was like I wanted the French onion soup so bad
- 59:03Speaker 3: from here, but it was so hot and I just
- 59:06Speaker 3: couldn't do it. But no, the keish was amazing. It
- 59:12Speaker 3: wasn't a traditional Keish lorraine, Like it didn't have ham
- 59:14Speaker 3: in it. It used bacon, which I think probably made
- 59:17Speaker 3: it even better because it was bacon. But even just
- 59:21Speaker 3: the way they serve it to you, like it comes
- 59:23Speaker 3: out it's got this really nice mornaise sauce on it.
- 59:25Speaker 3: It comes with a little side salad and it's not
- 59:28Speaker 3: like your traditional theme park side saled. I mean it
- 59:30Speaker 3: had a rugola or like rocks over in your parts.
- 59:34Speaker 3: Tom they call it rocket, but it had like a
- 59:36Speaker 3: rugola and tomatoes, and it was like not like I
- 59:40Speaker 3: don't know, it wasn't just this like kind of thrown
- 59:42Speaker 3: together like begged side salad that I feel like you
- 59:47Speaker 3: get at other places like the Three Broomsticks or something
- 59:49Speaker 3: like that. It just had that elevated yeah experience. Amy
- 59:55Speaker 3: and I were both part of the Clean Plate club
- 59:58Speaker 3: there because our food was so.
- 59:59Speaker 2: Good, the way to eat so good.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: Yeah, we did not get the infamous butterbeer crep this trip, though,
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: but a lot of people I saw a lot of
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: people eating.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: It next time. It did look very good.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: It did look very good. But I'm such a savory
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: person and just really was so hungry for like real.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Food, and I knew what other dessert I wanted, so
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: I was saving room.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, but yeah, I mean it was like we
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: were able to easily find a table like it did.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: I did hear that if you order the crap it
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: can take a bit longer to come out, but our
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: food didn't take that long to come out. Again. At
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: this point, that side of the park really was not
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: that busy because I think everyone was still in line
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: but yeah, it was so good and like other people's
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: Like I kind of looked around at like other people's
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: food too. Everyone's food looked good. Some people around us
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: had gotten some of the different begats that were there.
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: I did see someone with the French onion soup as
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: we were walking out, and I'm like, God, that looks
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: really good. Definitely next time. But yeah, I give it
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: a ton out of ten for a food place. Yeah,
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: it was better than some actual restaurants that I've been to.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: Yeah, So to keep on theme with the food, we
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: might as well talk about all the places we ate.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: So, then the other restaurant in the Wizarding section is
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: La Goblet Noir, which is like the back alley dark
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: wizard hangout again. Really cool, great decorations, Nicole, you want
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: to talk more about the details of this place before
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: I get to talk about the food.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Sure, So, I mean, to nobody's surprise, I freaking loved
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: this place, you know, the Slytherin in me back alley
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: straw in the dark. And it's so cool too, because,
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: like you know, we're kind of jumping around a little
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: bit here, but like just this section that Le gob
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: What Noir is in is like it's not the same
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: as like going down an alley and you're in this
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: nocturn alley, but it's just you walk kind of around
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: this corner and there's a very subtle shift in the
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: decoration and you can tell, oh, I'm in like a
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: back area. It's it's just it's yeah, it's got it's
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: like this darker. It kind of almost has this more
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: like diagon alley kind of rustic feel to it. The
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: decorations different, Like you just you can tell I've shifted
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: into this like back alley kind of thing. And I
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: would say, like where legab what Noir is Like, I
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: could totally see people just walking by and not realizing
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: that it's another food place, especially because once you walk
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: in it you have to like go down along, you
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: have to go like it's it's not it's not like
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: the Cafe de las Serran where you see people sitting
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: at tables eating from the street. You actually you walk in,
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: you go down this hallway and then there's like a bar,
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: another bar again, and then to go back to where
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: the seating is, you actually like walk around another hall
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: like this hallway and then bam, you're like, oh and
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: the place is huge, like it it is absolutely huge.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: There's so much seating there. When Amy and I went,
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: we ate dinner there, and it was right after we
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: had road battle and so it was raining. So I
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: do think that it was busier in there at the
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: time that we went than it normally would be because
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: people were just looking to get out of the rain.
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: But we still didn't really have that much trouble finding
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: like a place to sit. But it's similar where there's
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: different rooms that have like slightly different theming and it's
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: like it's more of that rustic feel, so like this
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: will give you vibes of leaky cauldron, three broomsticks. It's
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: got that same kind of rustic vibe. And this whole
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: part too is like obviously in the like Nicholas lamel section,
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: this rest takes a lot of inspiration from Grindelwald. That's
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: why the menu is more European. It's not that Prisian food.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: It's more like, you know, i'd say, like German Polish inspired,
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: which is a lot yeah, more Central European, which is
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: also right up my alley. It's some of my favorite foods.
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: Same like every room has like just like these very
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: like these like trinkety artifact kind of things like you know,
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: like we talked about in like other episodes about looking
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: up like that's how this this restaurant is as well.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: We found like in one of the corners there was
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: like a deathly hallows hanging, so just the I saw
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: online that there was supposed to be like a nod
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: to like the Three Brothers puppets in there, but like
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: Amy and I walked around that whole place and looked
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: at all of the decorations, and like we didn't see it.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: So I'm gonna have to do a little bit more
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: research to see like if I can find exactly where
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: it was. I don't know how true this is, but
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: I saw somewhere that like this place is supposed to
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: be inspired by like all the places that like when
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: grendel Wald started like taking over homes like and everything,
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: Like it's supposed to be like representative of like all
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: the different places that they were. Don't know how true
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: that is, but it just has that yeah, just has
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: that feel, like that rustic feel. Very different than Cafe
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: Layer Dey Liss around, very very different, but equally as
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: cool and detailed and just a different just a different vibe. Yeah,
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: I liked it.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: Yeah, So this time we actually both ordered different things
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: so we can review more things on the menu.
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: Hear, It's hard. Amy and I have such similar food
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: taste that like we do tag to the gravitate towards
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: the same things. And actually what Amy got here I
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: was also planning on possibly getting, so it's yeah.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: Yeah, So I ended up getting the beef goulash, which
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: was really good. It was served on egg noodles, the
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: black forest cake, which was amazing, and the giggle water,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: which was also very good.
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: Do you throw in a little laugh when you had it?
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: Very subtly. I wasn't gonna gufaw quite like Jacob, but
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: you know, we were in a crowded restaurant. I didn't
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: want to call to disappear under the table.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: I don't know her, but.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: It was good for someone who doesn't like I really
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: don't like drinking alcohol very much, like hate the taste.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: This was actually good and I almost strength the whole thing.
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: That's my problem is like I always want just a
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: little bit, and then I feel like they give you
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: too much and then I can't finish it. But it
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: was really good, Like it was like light and like
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: more refreshing, Like it wasn't.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: Like heavy so any particular flavor.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: So it was elderflower prosecco. So yeah, it was good.
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: It was very good.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: The black forest cake was really good. It was like
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: a little like yes, if you can't tell, this was
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: the dessert I was really excited about. So it came
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: in like a small, like circular piece and the outside
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: is like hard chocolate shell, and then the inside of
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: the cake with of course the cherry filling and everything.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: It was really, really really good.
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: I just want to say the presentation of the meals
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: and the desserts was like insane, like as somebody who
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: like has gone like I don't know, I think of
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: like when I go on like some of my cruises
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: and stuff like that, Like they purposefully like try to
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: present stuff in a certain way and like dish out
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: stuff in a certain way, and you just don't expect
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: to get that at like a theme park restaurant. But
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: like again, like the presentation of the food was just
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: like next level. Like the way they plated the desserts
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: was like I felt like I needed to tip somebody,
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: but there was no one to tip because it wasn't
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: a sit down restaurant, like we had already paid through
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: the app.
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: Well what think, yeah, it would be as presentable as
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: the other restaurant, because it's kind of like this more
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: back alley field but still right like it still has
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: it was.
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: Both of our desserts were plated like so beautifully, and
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: it's and I will say too, like it's again this
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: is another restaurant where you're served like with real silverware
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: and it's on like a pewter heavy plate. So it
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: was very different like the the dining experience, and like
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: the silverware, not the silverwar but like the plates and
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: stuff and the bowls reflected the environment of that restaurant
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: and was very different than the nice kind of like
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: shiny porcelain glass of the plates at Cafe Layer. So
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: there's the theming. It was so on point. And so
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: I got the Jaeger Schnitzel, which was a pork schnitzel
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: that had like a mushroom gravy on it and came
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: with like steak fries on the side, and they give
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: you like an extra little pot of the mushroom gravy,
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: you know, for your fries or whatever. And then dessert,
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: I got the baklava, and this was so good. And
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: it actually was a vegan baklava. So typically a baklava
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: will have like honey, this one did not. They sweetened
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: it with like an agave syrup and it had like
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: this coconut nectar something that it sat on. I don't
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: know what. It was just so good. It was so good.
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: And then for my drink, I got very opposite to
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: Amy's nice light and refreshing drink. I got the the
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: the drink that's basically black in color. It's their specialty.
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: The other specialty drink the La Brevage Sombre do Goblet noir.
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: So this one they describe it as a deliciously dark brew,
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: conjuring unique flavors of mixed fruit topped with the eyes
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: of plimpies, which are like a yogurt popping pearl. So
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: it came out and this drink was like it basically
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: was black in color with the white kind of yogurt
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: balls on it, and it is just I mean, it
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: was very good. It had like a fruity flavor to it,
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: and then obviously like the boba pearls in it. It
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: is not alcoholic, but it was. Yeah, it was good,
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: and I thought the food here was equally as good
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: as the cafe. There were so many other things on
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: the menu I could easily get, it was hard to
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: choose what to get.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: We've been talking about that Alchemists platter. Next time, I'm
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: gonna ask to get it.
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: I know when we first got the menu here, we
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: both were like, oh my god, the Alchemist platter, But
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: then like, yeah, I don't know then something about that day,
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: I just look like I just wanted something out. I
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: just wanted something else in that moment. But yeah, definitely
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: that's on my radar. I got to try the Gulash
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: so that Amy had at some point because that also
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: looked really good, and but my Jagger Snistle was also
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: really good, so it's like I want that again too.
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: There's just not enough time to eat all the things.
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: But I give this place another like glowing review. Honestly, wow,
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: both of them are definitely like I really like, especially
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: Leaky Cauldron, and I think three Broom six is okay too,
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: but they definitely like super up to the bar on this,
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: which we knew when we saw the pictures and got
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: the menus, but like now having like experienced it in
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: person and eating it like.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: Up to the bar. Yeah. So the other food adjacent
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: thing food and drink. We'll call this category is bar moonshine,
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: which it literally is just a bar, like there's no
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: nothing else. You kind of like walk in and it's
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: just the bar. Then you walk out the other door.
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: There's some seating outside, like some limited like tables and chairs.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: Yeah. So we both got the Okamy tea here, which
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: if you've seen the videos online, this is the one
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: that comes out as like a fizzy blue drink and
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: you mix in the tea bag and then it turns
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: to like a sparkly purple. It is two different flavors
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: before and after you mix in the tea bag. So
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: the bartender made sure to tell us taste it first
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: and after. Very cool concept. It was good, but it
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: was like too much. I don't know. I probably wouldn't get.
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: It again, but I don't know I would get it again.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: It was cool to do once.
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: It tasted really good, but it was just like, yeah,
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: made my tummy hurt a little bit.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: It was like too heavy. Whatever was it? No?
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: No, it was more like thing like a Seltzer water
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: kind of consistency or like soda, like a very carbon
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: like a overly carbonated soda. And so that's what the
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: blue drink comes out as, is this carbonated I wouldn't
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: even even it looks like it would be like blue
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: raspberry flavored, but I don't think that's what it was.
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: And then it's not even like a it's not like
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: a tea bag in a traditional tea bag sense. It's
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: like this almost like it looked almost like cotton candy texture. Yeah,
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: that you that you jump in and then you stir
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: it and you have to stir it like a certain
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: way and then it dissolves and then yes, and then
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: it changes the drink purple, it changes the flavor and
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: it adds this like sparkle in it, but very very carbonated.
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: But yeah, but it was good, but it probably was like,
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: of all the things we ate and drank that day,
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: was probably like my least favorite, just in terms of
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: like Amy said, it was just like too much. It
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: was kind of too heavy. It was just like too fizzy.
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: It's good that you tried it because it's one of
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: those experiences that it's not like this traditional you know, drink,
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: So it's cool that you got to like see the
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: you know, the color is changing and that the like
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: that little puffs solving into like water, and just you know,
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: it's a nice it's a nice thing. Like you say, Okay,
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: I can check it off my list and you know,
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: move on to the next thing, but still get to
- 1:15:27Speaker 4: experiencing that, like you don't regret it, right.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: Like, yeah, no, it was a cool thing. And I
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: like there was this guy who was inline after us
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: and was like asking us, so what's that? Like he
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: was getting it for all the kids that were with them,
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: Like I feel like it's going to be super popular,
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: like especially like for the kids because it is non
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: alcoholic and like it is color changing. That's really cool, right,
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: And to get this purple sparkly drink.
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: Like yeah, I'm getting like it tastes maybe like a
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: Slurpee maybe something similar.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: I don't even know.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: I don't know how to describe it.
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: I mean it was very I would think just like
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: a very fruity soda, Like if Fanta had like a
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: mixed berry flavor, maybe I would feel like it would
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: be more similar to that in terms of like the consistency.
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: But it was weird because it was it because like
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: that drink I got at Legabla Noir was a berry flavor,
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: but that tasted very different than the acame tea, even
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: though I feel like the Achime tea was erry adjacent
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: as well. They were just very different types of berry flavor.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: I almost think I liked it better before mixing in.
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: I think I did too, And I think once you
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: mix in the tea bag thing, it almost changed the consistency,
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: like it got thicker. Yes, I liked it before when
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: it was more just like the cults are.
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: Like, yeah, there's something about it.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: There was something in it.
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: Both of both of mine and Amy's bodies didn't love it.
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: I don't know if we're just if this is just
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: I'm just getting too old again. And I realized too,
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: I mean, speaking about we didn't really talk about the
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: we don't have the bathrooms in our docky. You know,
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: we've been talking about the bathroom.
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: I was, I was going to ask, like, I want
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: to see the bathroom.
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: Yes, And we experienced bathrooms in like almost all the
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: lands we like because you know, but like, but yeah,
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: there was just something about the Alchemy tee that like, yeah,
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: like I said, my stomach didn't love something in it.
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: And I don't. I mean we were looking at the
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: ingredients on the little packet they give you for like
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: the like the it's not the cotton candy whispy thing
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: that you get in and like I can't think of
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: what on it. I mean, it's got a lot of
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: dyes in it. So if you're someone that's trying to
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: avoid like red forty and all this kind of it's
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: all in this. But yeah, there was just something about this.
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: But I'm glad. I am glad we tried it. I
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: think it'll be a really cool drink for kids.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: And have that sugar rush.
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: Oh my god, yes, I cannot even imagine, because you know,
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: like the drink that you get initially obviously had a
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: lot of sugar in it, and then that thing we
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: put in it was just like a sugar Like I said,
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: it literally looked like hot and candy. So like I
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: just I think, yeah, I think my mid thirty year
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: old body just could not handle it.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: Yeah, you start to resist it a little bit, and I.
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: Think that's exactly what happened. But yeah, all the other drinks.
- 1:18:35Speaker 4: Were really is there so is there other options? Like
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: I'm thinking colors? Is it just the achimetea or are
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: there other like combinations or things that you can No,
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: it's just.
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: The one because it's like the drink comes out of
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: the so they have it on tap like with all
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: the other beers and stuff that are in there, and
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: so you get the blue drink and then it actually
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: looks like the I wonder if you could purchase it
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: because the thing that we got where the like tea
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: bag is in, it's made in like Ohio. I noticed
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: it was made in Ohio, and so I wonder if
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: it's from this place that you. I think Universal literally
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: just buys like bulk stock of this or maybe they've
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: now maybe you can't buy it from this place anymore
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: because now Universal is like, this is our thing, but
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: it's made from an outside. I wonder if they were
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: maybe a small shop. It seems like something you'd get
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: from like a small shop, and so I don't know
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: if maybe they do other ones, but I think this
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: one is just very specific because then it obviously turns
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: your drink purple like the colors of the Acheme. Yeah.
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: The little pouch you get though is really pretty though,
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: like with the Achemy tea. I think we both took
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: pictures of it, see, I definitely recommend trying it, but yeah,
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: it was probably like the least my least favorite thing
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: that we tried that day. We didn't get butter beer
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: since like it's the same that you can get in
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: the other parks as well. Obviously the cups and stuff
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: are different, but we wanted to try the the other stuff.
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: I think, actually, the strawberry mint iced tea was my
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: favorite of all the drinks that I got. I know,
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: the lavender lemonade is really popular as well in this park,
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: but the strawberry mint iced tea, like, don't sleep on it.
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: It was really good. And I know if we wanted
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: to stick in our review of Caramel in here as
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: well since it's food related. Yes, we did pop into
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: Caramel the Sweet Shop as well, and I'm disappointed because
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: there was no butter beer Macron. I have been talking
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: on this podcast for months and months and months about
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: how excited I was for the butter beer Macron and
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: they didn't have it. And I literally started questioning myself,
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: like thinking, I said Amy, like wait, they did announce
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: that this was going to be a thing, right, so
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: I don't know if and Amy said yes, like so
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: I didn't feel crazy, but like I don't know if
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: it was just the day we went there, they were
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: out of them. I don't know if they had him
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: just for butter beer season, I don't know what, but
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: they did not have the butterbeer macron.
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: I think you called it before they even officially announced it.
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: I did, and then they officially announced it.
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: It was in the picture with all the other.
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: Stuff with the butter beer screen printed on it. So
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: again I don't know why they didn't have it.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: Yeah, So like the candy counter where all the macrons are,
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: they're all the different themed flavors and they all have
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: like a little like thing printed on the top, So
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: like it would have fit right in that display somewhere,
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: but it wasn't there.
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: Which is maybe they did just have it for it
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: because butterbeer season is over now, I don't know, but
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: either way, so they have Like you go in there,
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: it's really pretty in there. The window is really pretty.
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: There's this like ferris wheel that has all the like
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: different beasts on it, which is really cute. It's very
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: like very similar vibes to honey dukes and sugar plums,
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: and they have like all your normal like birdie bots
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: and chocolate frogs. They have like these jelly slugs that
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: is really cute because it's like s cargo and those
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: kind of things that you find in all the other shops.
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: And then they have at the front their case and
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: I compared to the other stores where the other stores
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: have a lot of like pastries and like fudge, they
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: had the macrons, a bunch of different macron flavors. They
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: had a couple like cup or I don't even think
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: they were cupcakes. I think there were cakes that were
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: very detailed and looked really cool, and they had truffles
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: on the top, which were kind of new to like,
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: you know, these kind of food places. And so I
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: tried one of the truffles I got. The I think
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: it was called gosh. I can't remember what it was called.
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: Off it was called like them. I know they the
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: Ministry of Magic, Ministry of Magic. I know the macarn
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: I got was Ministry of Magic. It had it was
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: a pistachio flavor, but it had screen printed on the
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: top of the macron. It had the ministry logo. I
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: think the truffle I got was also Ministry of Magic.
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: I feel like they could have also called it polyjuice
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: potion because it was like a green but it was
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: also pistachio flavored. And I also got the chocolate Macron,
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: which had like a chocolate frog printed on the top.
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: My favorite of all the things I got was the
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: truffle by far. My honest opinion of the macrons is
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: they tasted a little stale, like sometimes like macarns, like
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: the cookie part on top can just get a little
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: stale and like chewy instead of that fluffy consistency. They
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: were kind of like that. But the pistachio one was
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: pretty good, but the truffle was I mean, the truffle
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: was pretty good.
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: Next time, I want to try one of those cakes
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: because they looked really good.
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: It's nice that they have, like, yeah, I think I
- 1:24:23Speaker 4: think it's interesting that they have like these Ministry of
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: Magic themed treats because I was just thinking that obviously,
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: the Ministry of the Ministry of Magic is a ride essentially,
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: so you're not going to find restaurants or or shops
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: or anything in there. So it's cool that it has
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: some representation in one of the stores because everything else
- 1:24:44Speaker 4: is very like you guys said, like very Parisian like,
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: very like like yeah, and very like high fashion high like,
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: so it's it's good to see a little bit of
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: that as well, like to have some like Ministry of
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: Magic things. I'm sure obviously you're gonna we're gonna talk
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: about the Ministry Magic and a little bit, but like
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: there is a shop exclusive for Ministry Magic merchant stuff.
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: But yeah, as regards food, there isn't, right, so it's
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: good to have like these little bits like spread.
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: Well the presentation was still really nice too, because it
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: was like I was just pulling up my picture. They
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: had like it's in a glass case and all of
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: the like treats are on these like glass little plates
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: and like the top row has all the different truffles,
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: the middle row had all the different macrons, and then
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: the bottom had the cakes and then caramels, like like
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: big chocolate caramel candies. So the presentation like definitely still
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: fit in that you know Parisian hmm. But but yeah,
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: it was really cool to see like, yeah, the Ministry
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: of Magic and it looks like when we went. So
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: there was like some examples of like some of the
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: macrons they had. They had like a cotton candy or
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: like candy floss which is how it's called a europe flavor.
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: There was a Sherbert Lemon flavor. There was a pumpkin
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: juice flavor that had like the Pumpkin juice logo like
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: screen printed on top, but it was in French. They
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: had a pink coconut ice macron. They had a peppermint
- 1:26:21Speaker 3: toad macaron, tongue ton tongue toffee macaron, the Ministry of
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: Magic one, and then a Shako Chalk macaron, so like
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: this from like the Weasley The Shaka Chalk was there too.
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: They had that. In truffle form. They had this really
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: cool truffle that opened almost like a dragon egg. That
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: was really cool. Sure, there was like a Sherbert Lemon truffle,
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: very like on theme, and like the caramels as well.
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: There was like this one that was like a Birdie
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: Bot one and it had the birdie Bot logo but
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: in French, and then it had it came with birdibots
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: beans on the corners, so just very like themed in
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: just the details again, it's just like the details is
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: really the name of the game with this park.
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: Of course, the Birdie Bob, beans and the chocolate box
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: are all like Paris themed.
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: Yeah, like nineteen twenties beamed so they're the.
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: Same boxes they just were in French.
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: Nice.
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: Yeah, so let's talk about battle at the Ministry, shall we.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: So it's funny you bring up the like it's a ride,
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: so there's not really anything around in restaurants or stores,
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: so it's nice that they have these little nods to it. Yeah,
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: it is very strangely disconnected from everything else, and there
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: really is no good explanation for like how you travel
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: to tweet these two things, so that's kind of odd.
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean.
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: I think the problem isn't so much how you travel
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: from Paris to all of a sudden being in the Ministry,
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: because they explain that with the metro flu thing, which
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: is which is really cool, like so amazing, like the
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: whole like going through and you just feel like you're
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: in the film where you see all the mantle pieces
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: with the green smoke and like it's just it's so
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: cool and so like explaining how you get from France
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: to the British Ministry of Magic makes sense. And when
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: you leave the ride again with the details, they have
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: you go through the flu network again after you leave,
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: so then bam, this is how you're back in Paris.
- 1:28:50Speaker 3: What I feel like they did not describe at all
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: is how we also traveled in time when we did that.
- 1:28:56Speaker 4: Yes, and yeah, it's like you would have mute commander
- 1:29:02Speaker 4: because I know, like there is like, well you probably
- 1:29:06Speaker 4: saw him, but I could imagine him being like, Okay,
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: so you're gonna go on this mission and you're gonna
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: go move I don't know because you're not even.
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: Traveling is in this world but not in the ride.
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: And so I think that where so the time time
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: turners in time play such a big role in this ride, right, Yes,
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: but it's because like curse, I don't know why we're
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: so stuck on this like curse child thing. The whole
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: point and the whole reason why Umbradge is being tried
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: here is that she like breaks into the time room,
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: which again, how are all those time turners even still there?
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: Because they were all supposed to be destroyed during the
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: Battle of the Ministry. But he goes in this is
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: after that. So a little bit of you know, plot
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: hole here. And let me say, during the ride, you
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: go into the time room. In the ride, you go
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: into the time room and there are walls and walls.
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: Spoiler alert spoiler there are walls in walls and walls
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: of time turners. Excuse excuse me, there is hundreds of
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: time turners here. I thought these were all destroyed. But
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: the whole purpose of the ride is that she is
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: going in to get a time turner so that they
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: can go back to the time of Lord Baltimore. Why
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: we are so nostalgic for the time of Lord Baltimore,
- 1:30:20Speaker 3: I don't know. And so that's where the whole time
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: piece comes in. But I feel like there was no
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: explanation as to how we got there, yeah, back in time.
- 1:30:30Speaker 4: And it doesn't sound like something umbradged like we did
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: this episode full episode on Umbridge. I'm talking about how
- 1:30:36Speaker 4: she wasn't, you know, like there's something that we could
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: expect maybe Bellatrix to do because she was so devoted
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: to him, but not necessarily Umbradge. She was probably trying
- 1:30:46Speaker 4: to get away from the trial. She was trying to escape,
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: but I wouldn't have imagined that she wanted to turn
- 1:30:52Speaker 4: back time to, you know, bring Baltimore back to life.
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: Seems a little out of character.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: It was a little odd. Yeah, yes, the whole story
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: of this ride was really odd, and I think I've
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: been thinking about it. I think maybe that's why the
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: ride didn't sit with me the way I thought it
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: was going to.
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: Yeah, because it was such a cool ride. Otherwise, like
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: I didn't love this ride, Oh God, I think like, yes,
- 1:31:21Speaker 3: I think like it's technologically this ride is so impressive.
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: I will say though, like I do. Which we only
- 1:31:30Speaker 3: got to ride at once. We got in line for
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: it because it was going to start raining, so we
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: decided to commit to it, and then it got delayed
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: and then they told us after we had waited about
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: an hour into our what would have been to our weight,
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: they told us the ride was down with no estimated reopening.
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: So in this moment, we had to like make the
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: decision if we were going to get out of line
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: or try to stick it out. A lot of people
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: got out of line. We decided to stick it out,
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: and it worked out in our favor because we ended
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: up waiting about two hours for the ride, which is
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: what it was when we got in and.
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: It was absolutely pouring out. So that's why we were like, Okay,
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: well we're just going to stay. What else are we
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: going to do?
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: The thing that kind of sucked about that though? Was
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: that so they stopped, like because the ride was down,
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: they stopped letting people into the queue. So by the
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: time they let us get into the queue, everything was
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: very rushed, Like we had to like rush through the
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: queue because like normally you'd be in this line waiting
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: for like an hour and you could sit there and
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: like look at everything. But we were like running through
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: the different rooms, like looking at the ceilings and the
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: portraits talking. We had to run through Umbradge's office and
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: like there was Higgeldy there and she was talking and
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: I don't even remember what she said because we were
- 1:32:47Speaker 3: trying to get pictures.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: Maybe I was explained at some point, but we just
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: didn't get it.
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: We were having to rush, Yeah, And I think that
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: like I think so for me and speaking for other
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: people who get like motion sick. I was very anxious
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: to ride this ride because I will say, one thing
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: that stresses me out about Universal is just how screen
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: heavy rides are at Universal, and I knew this ride
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: was going to be that, And so I do think
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: before I can like have a full opinion on this ride,
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: I do need to be able to ride it again
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: because I think sometimes like when you ride a ride
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: for the first time and you don't know what to expect,
- 1:33:24Speaker 3: Like I was just trying not to like get sick
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: on this ride, and like there's some like if you
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: get motions, Like luckily I don't ever like actually get
- 1:33:32Speaker 3: motion sick. I sometimes just feel weird. But if you're
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: somebody that actually gets motion sick, this ride is going
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: to do you in, like it whips you around. I
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: can't even make sense of some of the movements we
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: did at some point the screens like you're gonna get
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: probably get motion sick on this And so I was
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: so distracted the whole time I was riding it the
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: first time, because like you don't know what to expect,
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: And so I've watched some ride povs like since I've
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: been on it to try to fill in my memory.
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: And yeah, I still feel like I'm confused about the storyline.
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: But I think, like again from a technology standpoint, they
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: really set the bar with this ride. I think it's
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: probably the most immersive ride I've ever been on because
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: you just you don't see other ride vehicles the whole
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: time you're on. You don't see the floor, you don't
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: see the transitions between scenes because they very conveniently make
- 1:34:22Speaker 3: it dark, and they literally whip the entire thing faster
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: than I have ever been whipped in my life. Like
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: I thought Tower of Terror was fast, and this is
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: like but instead of going down, they move you to
- 1:34:34Speaker 3: the side, and clearly they're moving you to the next scene.
- 1:34:37Speaker 3: But because it happens so fast and it's dark, you
- 1:34:39Speaker 3: don't see it, so you don't it doesn't break the immersion.
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: And then the screens that they use are so like huge.
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: It's not like you know, when you're riding Battle of
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: the Ministry, if you look up, you can see the
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: break and you can see the ceiling and so that
- 1:34:56Speaker 3: like I'm sorry, Grengots and the other ones, all the
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: other ones. You if you look up you can see
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: the screen. In Battle the Ministry, you do not get like,
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: I don't know where the screen ended and the floor began.
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: It was so there's a ceiling you too, on your elevator.
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: So yeah, so you can't like see it blacks those
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: lines of sight. So I think from an immersive standpoint,
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: they really outdid themselves with this ride. The animatronics are cool.
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: The a Rumpet animatronic is probably my favorite of that
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: it was just massive and life size.
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: The Death Theater was really good mm hmmm.
- 1:35:39Speaker 3: The Umbrage animatronic was a I don't I don't, Yeah,
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: I don't know. I think they could have done a
- 1:35:46Speaker 3: little better with her.
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: The Kingsley one was really good. So yeah, So, like
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: I know, I'm super negative about this whole there's no
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: explanation thing, but the ride itself, I thoroughly enjoyed the
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: actual ride, like I was having a great time, like
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: I was. Therefore, I was like, yes, let's go drop
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: my elevator whipped me around.
- 1:36:12Speaker 3: But yet you won't go on Tower of Terror where
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: they literally drop.
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: An elevator, but this is like more like simulation, you know. Yeah,
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: but yeah, like the ride itself was really cool and
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: really fun. It looked really good. Yeah, I think I
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: don't know, because like, yeah, I kept thinking about it.
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: I was like while I was riding it, like I
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: was having fun, So like why I don't know.
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: If I don't know, Like I don't know, I just
- 1:36:44Speaker 3: need to go on it again. But I think that,
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: like the queue is amazing, Like I think that I.
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: Just wanted to ask you that, like what's the what's
- 1:36:50Speaker 4: the feeling when you step into it, because it's it
- 1:36:53Speaker 4: feels so massive.
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: Is it as massive as it looks?
- 1:36:57Speaker 3: Well, it's huge, and then they make it huger know
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: what I mean, I'm getting too excited. I can't tell.
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: Like in the in the background right when you have
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: like you know, the wizard statue, so behind it is
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: screens where they just replicate more and more of the
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: like little ministry offices things.
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: I was wondering that it it scaled down.
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: It's both. So when you first walk in and you've
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: got you know, your main ministry statue there, like right there,
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: there is real sets and they're moving inside like there's
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: there's there's things moving, there's lights on, so that's real.
- 1:37:44Speaker 3: But then in the distance, like as you're looking, you
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: don't even get close up over there. So in like
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: the far distance, there's a screen, but it's so far
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: away that it doesn't like, you know, it's a screen,
- 1:37:56Speaker 3: but it doesn't look like a screen. It's just made
- 1:37:59Speaker 3: to make it look more more expansive. Yeah, and like
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: it keeps going on and on and on, even though
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: obviously it doesn't. There's a wall, so it's a mixture.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: Yeah, in that background too, like when you're looking at
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: the Wizard statue, you can see like in the far
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: background on the screen they've got the little inner Department memos,
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: the little purple airplane lanes. Yeah, and there's like swarms
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: of those like zig zagging. It's really fun.
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: So yeah, that part, that part of the que is
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: just it's you really like feel like you stepped into
- 1:38:34Speaker 3: the scene in the film and it's so impressive. And
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: something that's.
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: Nice too is when you get off the ride, they
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: don't immediately just dump you into the gift shop. You
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: actually go back into that atrium, so you get off
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: the ride and then you can just like hang out
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: there and like take it in. So like when we
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: got out, like it was still raining out, so there
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: were a lot of people just chilling in the ah
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: room because like that's the place to be and you
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: can take in all the details that maybe you missed
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: when you're going through the line and then you exit
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: again through the fireplaces and then you're in the gift shop.
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: But yeah, that was kind of a cool part about
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: that that I liked.
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: Well that you have to say remembory too. So this ride,
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: what's nice is they have an actual line outside the
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: ride where if you just want to go in to
- 1:39:27Speaker 3: view the ministry, you actually can get in a separate
- 1:39:30Speaker 3: line for that, and so then that is where they
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: would put you, and you'd you'd basically come out, and
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: so you're you're separate from the queue to the ride,
- 1:39:40Speaker 3: and there's not a way for you to like cheat
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: this as well. I mean, I guess you actually could
- 1:39:45Speaker 3: go in through the attraction and then just jump over
- 1:39:48Speaker 3: the little barricade, but I'm not condoning that. Please do
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: not do that. But there's a way that you can
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: go in if you don't want to ride and just see,
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: and so they I think that's why you've got that
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: extra air on the side. I think what's nice too
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: is that obviously the ride had gone back up and
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: then there was by the time we got out, there
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: was actually an actual queue that was forming in there
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: where we had to kind of rush, And it was
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: funny because I think I said to Amy at one point,
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: why are we all running and rushing through this? Because
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: everyone was trying to take pictures, So like, I don't
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: know why we all felt this pressure to nature. I
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: think it's yeah, just human nature. There's no one in
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: front of me in the queue. I gotta keep moving.
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: But yeah, I I did not. I don't know. And
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: again this is just our opinion on the ride. I mean,
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: there are people that like this is their absolute favorite ride,
- 1:40:39Speaker 3: and so it's.
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: Just who knows. If I ride it a few more times,
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: maybe it will be like I don't know.
- 1:40:44Speaker 4: And again, but who goes into the rides thinking too
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: much about the storyline, right, Like if you think Forbidden
- 1:40:51Speaker 4: Journey makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, we still love it.
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, when we were talking about that too, I
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: was like, well, and we all think gring dots make sense?
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: Like why is Bill there? You wasn't there when they
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: were breaking in? Why here Valdemor and Bellatricks there? They
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: weren't there.
- 1:41:08Speaker 4: I think it happens in all the rides, like even Transformers,
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: and like all they do it like for the attraction
- 1:41:15Speaker 4: purposes and to make it, you know, make sense somehow.
- 1:41:18Speaker 4: But I do love the fact that you guys pointed
- 1:41:20Speaker 4: out that it you cannot see the transitions from like
- 1:41:24Speaker 4: practical to screen, because that's something that I always liked
- 1:41:27Speaker 4: a little flat in Forbidden Journey. Even as much as
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: I love it, I always have to close my eyes
- 1:41:32Speaker 4: when you enter with the flu powder into the castle,
- 1:41:35Speaker 4: like I try closing and just opening once you're in there.
- 1:41:38Speaker 4: And when you do the transition from the courtyard into
- 1:41:41Speaker 4: the Great Hall in the end, I always close my
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: eyes because it just it breaks the emergion so much. Yeah,
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: because you can literally there's the.
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: Reason why a lot of people get sick on that ride.
- 1:41:50Speaker 3: And I will say, though, one thing I saw and
- 1:41:52Speaker 3: so I did do this is I saw I will
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: say when they ride when Battle the Ministry first starts,
- 1:41:59Speaker 3: those first cupnutes, I had read that that made a
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: lot of people feel because you you literally are sitting
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: there and you're moving and then they throw you into
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: the screen where you're literally zooming on an elevator. Like
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: it's very jarring. Right at first, I think that I
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: think that you can. I'm gonna have to compare it
- 1:42:23Speaker 3: to the other ride I was. I'm gonna have to
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: just have to compare here. So I what is hard
- 1:42:32Speaker 3: to is so I like absolutely loved Monsters unchained I
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: have there was something about that ride. I have never
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: experienced such wow on a ride ever, And so I
- 1:42:47Speaker 3: think that because we rode that first and I've seen
- 1:42:50Speaker 3: this is the big This is like, I think the
- 1:42:52Speaker 3: big like debate people have is like which the better ride,
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: Monsters Unchained or Bettle with the Ministry. It's like, if
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: you read the discourse about the park, those are the
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: two rides that people compare, but they're very different, and
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: that like Battle of the Ministry is very screen heavy,
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: and like, even though there's animatronics that are part of
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: Battle of the Ministry, you're still very much in a
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: screen driven ride, whereas Monsters Unchained is animatronic heavy, with
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: some screens to supplement things that animatronics just can't do.
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: And I think like this is where like this is
- 1:43:32Speaker 3: probably what ends up forming my opinion a lot on
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: it is like and again it could be because I
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: struggle a little bit with the motion or the screen rides.
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: I love animatronics. I've always been a practical set person.
- 1:43:47Speaker 3: I love what people what things can do with anime,
- 1:43:49Speaker 3: like what can be done with animatronics, the technology that
- 1:43:51Speaker 3: goes into animatronics, it's just my thing. I always will
- 1:43:55Speaker 3: prefer that over screens. So I think that that's where
- 1:43:59Speaker 3: like Battle the Ministry felt a little short for me,
- 1:44:02Speaker 3: is that it is still a screen heavy ride where
- 1:44:06Speaker 3: Monsters Unchained is not It is animatronics, and I mean
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: insane animatronics at that So I think that I would
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: love for them to do like another Harry Potter ride
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: that has even more animatronics than what they did with
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: Battle of the Ministry. But it's hard because animatronics can
- 1:44:26Speaker 3: only do so much, so sometimes you need the screens
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: to supplement. And I completely see why Battle the Ministry
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: is so screen heavy. There's a lot of things on
- 1:44:34Speaker 3: that ride that like they wouldn't be able to do
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: without screens. But the clarity of the screen is definitely
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: a step up from like what you were describing Tom
- 1:44:43Speaker 3: in Forbidden Journey, And that's why I think, like, if
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: you're somebody who does get really motion sick on Forbidden Journey,
- 1:44:49Speaker 3: I don't think Battle of the Ministry will be as
- 1:44:51Speaker 3: bad for you because the screen is much clearer, and
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: like you said, there's not as much like jarring transition
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: from joh practical to then the screen and like the
- 1:45:03Speaker 3: you're not seeing it, it's like it's like it's dark
- 1:45:05Speaker 3: and then all of a sudden you're in front of
- 1:45:07Speaker 3: a screen. So I feel like you can adjust a
- 1:45:10Speaker 3: little bit better. But yeah, I did not have the
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: Wow that was life changing experience on Battle of the Ministry,
- 1:45:20Speaker 3: but I did have that on Monsters Unchained, even more
- 1:45:24Speaker 3: than I was expecting to have.
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: Yeah. So yeah, so my wow life changing experience was
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: also not where I expected it to be, and that
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: was in the Cirque ar Canoe show. I was not
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: expecting it at all. I purposefully didn't watch anything about
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: what this show is going to be, so I just
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: thought I was just walking into a circus show. And
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: then things happened, and then yes, it was all the
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: warm fuzzies.
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: Well, here's the great thing about the circus show. You
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: are not able to record it, you're not able to
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: live stream it. Nothing. So this is something that I
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: feel everybody can go into. Like obviously you could read
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: a review or hear somebody talk about what happened in
- 1:46:17Speaker 3: the show, but this is like the one thing you
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: can go into and like you've not seen anything from
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: it until you actually go experience it for yourself.
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: Yeah. It made me really miss the fantastic pieces so much.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: I was like, there's all my little guys, Like, there
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: they are with the little guys going makes an appearance.
- 1:46:47Speaker 3: It's just it was so good. I cried, I had
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: tears at the end. It was it definitely was my
- 1:46:56Speaker 3: like if if someone were to say, like between the
- 1:46:58Speaker 3: ride and the show, like what is your favorite part
- 1:47:01Speaker 3: of this New Land show, definitely the show for me. Yeah.
- 1:47:08Speaker 3: They just did a really good, really good job with it. Really,
- 1:47:12Speaker 3: I think, yeah, yeah, because yeah, we are got the
- 1:47:15Speaker 3: standard for a show in a theme park.
- 1:47:18Speaker 4: And also, you you know, like essentially we are Harry
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: Potter fans. We love Fantastic Beasts, but like you don't
- 1:47:24Speaker 4: ever think that you're gonna love something more than a
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: Harry Potter theme intraction, even if it's you know, related
- 1:47:31Speaker 4: to the wizard World. But like, yeah, it's and it's
- 1:47:34Speaker 4: something so different too because it's kind of like a
- 1:47:36Speaker 4: it's a like a show, it's not an it's not
- 1:47:38Speaker 4: a ride itself. So it's really like unexpected to hear
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: your opinions and being like, oh, you know, I wasn't
- 1:47:46Speaker 4: expecting this would be like the major highlight in terms
- 1:47:49Speaker 4: of attractions.
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: So I got the same feeling as when I watched
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: the first Fantastic Beast movie, and like my really unexpected
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: like warm fuzzies after that movie. I got that in
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: the show like it was a very similar sensation for me.
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: So yeah, definitely do the show. Do not skip the show, please,
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: because it was amazing.
- 1:48:18Speaker 3: And like, if you're not a show person like Tom,
- 1:48:21Speaker 3: I know you said you don't typically sit to watch
- 1:48:23Speaker 3: the shows, but like, I mean, this is like absolutely
- 1:48:28Speaker 3: next level, and you really gotta get two shows because
- 1:48:30Speaker 3: there's like a pre show before you go into the
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: main like tent. It's also so cool how they even
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: like were able to capture that feeling of like going
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: into a tent and it being bigger on the inside
- 1:48:45Speaker 3: and the place just kept going and going, and it's
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: it just the way they did it was so cool.
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: And the puppetry in the show is really amazing. It's yeah,
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: like there's so many beasts that show up that I
- 1:49:03Speaker 3: even wasn't expecting to show up in it. The story
- 1:49:08Speaker 3: of it, because obviously it's you know, following our ring
- 1:49:11Speaker 3: Mester Skender, and you know, so it's got that tie
- 1:49:14Speaker 3: into the film and the story there, and you know
- 1:49:17Speaker 3: him obviously wanting all of nuts beasts to you know,
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: have them perform, and you get almost like a bunty
- 1:49:24Speaker 3: two point zero kind of character in there, who's a
- 1:49:26Speaker 3: muggle and.
- 1:49:30Speaker 2: But Bunty isn't there.
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: Yeah, no, No.
- 1:49:33Speaker 3: Her name is Gwen and she is like kind of
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: the I don't want to spoil too much of like
- 1:49:40Speaker 3: what happens, but she she's kind of like the assistant
- 1:49:45Speaker 3: to like Skender and then things happen and she finds
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: herself in nuts case and I'll kind of leave it
- 1:49:55Speaker 3: at that because I don't want to spoil it too much.
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: But I mean that's a type of show I wouldn't
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: miss now.
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: Yeah, mm hmmm, just the effects they were able to do.
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: And there actually is some real like circus tricks stuff
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: before they get into the new case, fantastic stuff, Like
- 1:50:16Speaker 3: there's some people that come out and do like real
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: live like circus show kind of things that you would
- 1:50:23Speaker 3: expect to see if you were going to a magician
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: circus show. And then yeah, and then it just kind
- 1:50:30Speaker 3: of opens up into this Now all of a sudden,
- 1:50:32Speaker 3: we're like fantastic beasts.
- 1:50:34Speaker 4: And do they sell popcorning and cotton candy or something
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: or no?
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: Is it?
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: No?
- 1:50:41Speaker 3: No, I don't think there's any eating like or drinking
- 1:50:43Speaker 3: in the like in the theater, but yeah, no, it's
- 1:50:48Speaker 3: it's just really cool. I mean I already had tears
- 1:50:50Speaker 3: during the pre show and then so that I was
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: like ruined by the end. But like the pre show
- 1:50:58Speaker 3: is really cool as well, and it's just yeah, it's
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: just it's so it's so cool. Yeah, I'll leave it
- 1:51:09Speaker 3: at that, but it's it's yeah, definitely something not to
- 1:51:12Speaker 3: be missed. They do several shows throughout the day. M hmm, yeah,
- 1:51:20Speaker 3: I don't know. It's just it was such a good show.
- 1:51:22Speaker 4: The Little Fantastic Beast hard still still there, still beating, Yeah,
- 1:51:29Speaker 4: your heart a little bit.
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, because this show is completely Fantastic Beast driven.
- 1:51:35Speaker 3: Like this, it's not like we're, okay, we have to
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: add something from Harry Potter into this park so that
- 1:51:41Speaker 3: people understand what it is. It's fully fantastic Beasts.
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: Like do you know how many people I heard walking
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: around that park or leaving that park saying things like, oh,
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: now I want to watch the movies. M Like I
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: heard like there were two like teenage girls behind us
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: in line for the circus, and like one was like, oh,
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: I watched the first movie. It was really good, but
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: then I like fell off and then watched the others
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: or the other was like this is so cool though,
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: like we need to watch the movies. So it's just
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: it's funny, like it could have its moment again, a
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: delayed moment. It could happen.
- 1:52:20Speaker 4: They're installed, they're currently stalled, and you know they have
- 1:52:24Speaker 4: they like you know, speaking in like the timeframe. We
- 1:52:28Speaker 4: still got time to get number four and five. It's
- 1:52:31Speaker 4: not like we have kids that are growing up or
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: aging out their characters. Like there is time and you know,
- 1:52:37Speaker 4: I'm I'm I'm optimistic that those films might see the
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: light of day, and especially if this really you know
- 1:52:45Speaker 4: kind of like gives it that boost and people start
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: like engaging more in it, Like I saw a lot
- 1:52:51Speaker 4: of people, But I think it's because of what you
- 1:52:52Speaker 4: guys said that people were rushing through the whole Paris
- 1:52:55Speaker 4: section just to get to ballot the mystery. But the
- 1:52:58Speaker 4: fact that you know, people are having that that you know,
- 1:53:02Speaker 4: impression and that like you know, afterthought and being like him,
- 1:53:06Speaker 4: maybe you have to revisit these films. Maybe you have
- 1:53:08Speaker 4: to or maybe you know, capture new audiences. I mean,
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: like I had no idea there was something outside of
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: Harry Potter. So maybe this is a good you know,
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: the good start for you know, putting things back on track,
- 1:53:22Speaker 4: and you know, we might get to see the final installments,
- 1:53:26Speaker 4: or at least one final installment in the next five years.
- 1:53:30Speaker 2: Who knows, that'd be nice.
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and yeah, speaking of fantastic beasts, just a real
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: quick run through, because there are some magical creatures you
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: can find if you're looking for them, if you spend
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: time hanging out and doing wand magic in Paris. So
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: there's a moon calf animatronic which is in the window
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: of the glasses repair shop, and it's so cute, adorable.
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: It makes the little moon calf noises as it's moving
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: around and looking at you. Oh so cute.
- 1:54:05Speaker 3: It looks so real too speak But going back to
- 1:54:08Speaker 3: just me with the animatronics, like it's spoiler alert, it's
- 1:54:12Speaker 3: not a real moon calf, it's.
- 1:54:13Speaker 2: An amatonic, but it's darn.
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: It looks it looks so real, and yeah, it was cute.
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: You can find Picket over in the window of the
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: locksmith shop, and Picket is picking a lock of course.
- 1:54:32Speaker 2: My favorite little guy.
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's one of the smallest animatronics I think,
- 1:54:38Speaker 3: like ever made. It's so cool.
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: Yeah, and there's actually more Bow truckles over in the
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: window of the Floris florist Ah. There's more bow truckles
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: over in the window of the florist shop, which is
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: to your right when you come through the Phoenix. There's
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: a bunch hanging out in a tree in there. You
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: can find the Demi guys by doing a secret spell
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: in one of the windows by bar Moonshine. This is
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: really cool.
- 1:55:12Speaker 3: Alert The secret spell is Revellio.
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: It is there's lots of Revellios going on in this park.
- 1:55:19Speaker 3: There is a lot of There is a lot of
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: Revellio and specialis Revellio.
- 1:55:24Speaker 2: They did it because of us, obviously clearly.
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: Yes. The Niffler. You can find the Niffler in a
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: trunk in one of the interactive spell windows directly behind
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: the entrance to the French Ministry of Magic. There's baby
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: Nifflers hanging in a chandelier in another shop window. And
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: the Grindi Low. You can find a grinny Low in
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: the fountain next to the battle at the Ministry Q
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: which is really fun. You cast a spell in the
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: grinni Low like throws water at you, and the water
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: and then the rumpet which we talked about is in
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: the ride itself, so lots of fun little beasts you
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: can find.
- 1:56:14Speaker 3: Plus all of the beasts that are in the Canoe Show. Yes,
- 1:56:19Speaker 3: like there are just there are so many. There are
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: so many beasts around this park. I swear there's more
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: beasts around this park than there are in the films.
- 1:56:27Speaker 4: Like it's more fantastic beasts than Fantastic Beasts itself.
- 1:56:35Speaker 3: I feel like it, Yes I do.
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:56:40Speaker 4: So, you know, we've been talking so much about, you know,
- 1:56:44Speaker 4: your impressions and everything, but like to round off, like
- 1:56:48Speaker 4: what are your impressions in general of like the park
- 1:56:51Speaker 4: itself and your favorite parts, like very curious to see, Like, okay,
- 1:56:56Speaker 4: I know Nicole said my favorite ride wasn't even from
- 1:57:00Speaker 4: the Wizarding World, but like from the Wizarding section.
- 1:57:04Speaker 2: What would you say were the highlights?
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: Well, do you want the park in general first or
- 1:57:11Speaker 3: the Wizarding section?
- 1:57:13Speaker 2: Let's see that.
- 1:57:14Speaker 4: But yeah, we could talk about the park at first
- 1:57:16Speaker 4: and then Wizarding like filter it down.
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: The park in general. I think overall, they really really
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: stepped it up with this park. Like I really like
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: the portal idea because while we didn't experience the park
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: at full capacity, I do think it will still help
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: with the crowds and be less crowded than other parks
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: feel because of the setup. Just like if you think
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: about Studios or Islands of Adventure and you've got these
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: massive crowds of people making their way around the park,
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: You've got all that through traffic because they have to
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: walk through things even if they're not actually going to
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: that section, and then that creates the crowded walkways. Whereas
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: with the portals, you have to actually choose to go
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: in the portal, so you don't get that through traffic
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: of people just walking through. So I do think that's
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: smart and that's probably gonna help a lot with the
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: crowd control in that sense.
- 1:58:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that, Like, yeah, Universal definitely, Like you said,
- 1:58:30Speaker 3: Amy like just stepped it up with this park. I
- 1:58:33Speaker 3: think the biggest thing I think of this park in
- 1:58:35Speaker 3: general is just the attention to detail and being detail oriented.
- 1:58:41Speaker 3: It's like taking you know, I think that in every section, Yes,
- 1:58:46Speaker 3: in every section. I mean Universal Studios and Aland of
- 1:58:49Speaker 3: Adventure kind of are these like hodgepodge mixtures of things,
- 1:58:53Speaker 3: and there's like the theming isn't necessarily like great, and
- 1:58:57Speaker 3: then but then we all of a sudden, we had
- 1:58:59Speaker 3: the Wizarding World section, right, which like stepped it up
- 1:59:02Speaker 3: into this crazy level of immersion and detail, and so
- 1:59:07Speaker 3: basically you have that in an entire park. Having said that,
- 1:59:13Speaker 3: though like I still feel like certain portals are more
- 1:59:16Speaker 3: detailed than others. I think that I like the whole
- 1:59:22Speaker 3: just idea of the park as well. There's actually a
- 1:59:26Speaker 3: backstory about the Celestial Park that that I wish that
- 1:59:30Speaker 3: they incorporated more. And I'm not going to talk about
- 1:59:32Speaker 3: the backstory because I don't feel like I can like
- 1:59:34Speaker 3: say it right, But there's like a backstory to like
- 1:59:37Speaker 3: that part of the park, so like look it up
- 1:59:39Speaker 3: if you're interested, But I wish that they had maybe
- 1:59:41Speaker 3: incorporated that a little bit more. This park is definitely
- 1:59:46Speaker 3: gorgeous at night. There's so many different like lighting fixtures
- 1:59:49Speaker 3: and lighting features that really make the park come alive
- 1:59:52Speaker 3: at night. I think like this, so the different portals,
- 1:59:58Speaker 3: like this Super Nintendo portal is so overstimulating, but in
- 2:00:06Speaker 3: a good way. It was raining when we went into
- 2:00:09Speaker 3: that portal, so we didn't spend a ton of time
- 2:00:11Speaker 3: in there. But like, if you're a fan of Nintendo
- 2:00:14Speaker 3: and you grew up playing like classic Mario, Like this
- 2:00:20Speaker 3: world is like nostalgia, like thrown up in your face,
- 2:00:24Speaker 3: like it's so it is so crazy. It's so crazy
- 2:00:28Speaker 3: that like what they were able to do, like in
- 2:00:30Speaker 3: that park and like you just go up this escalator
- 2:00:33Speaker 3: and then like again it's multiple like it's yeah, it's
- 2:00:36Speaker 3: multiple levels. It's it's so it's weird, but it's like
- 2:00:40Speaker 3: it's just it's it's it's it's very overstimulating in there.
- 2:00:45Speaker 3: Lots a lot of the kids are in there, like
- 2:00:47Speaker 3: it's just not it's so it wasn't my favorite portal
- 2:00:49Speaker 3: for that reason. But the level of detail in there,
- 2:00:52Speaker 3: I think, like Isle of Burke again, like the detail
- 2:00:56Speaker 3: is there is so cool, especially with all just the
- 2:00:58Speaker 3: little hidden dragons like you mentioned. I know the show
- 2:01:02Speaker 3: is super highly rated in that in that area as well,
- 2:01:06Speaker 3: and there's I think that area has more rides than
- 2:01:10Speaker 3: like some of the other areas I think, like for me,
- 2:01:17Speaker 3: like my two favorite portals were Ministry of Magic and
- 2:01:20Speaker 3: Dark Universe. I loved what they did with Dark Universe.
- 2:01:25Speaker 3: I actually wish they did more, Like I wish they
- 2:01:27Speaker 3: had expanded that area even more and had even more rides.
- 2:01:33Speaker 3: I know I already kind of mentioned earlier how like
- 2:01:36Speaker 3: blown Away I was with Monsters unchained. But I think
- 2:01:39Speaker 3: it again boils down to just the level of immersion
- 2:01:42Speaker 3: and detail they gave to this park like I have
- 2:01:44Speaker 3: never seen. I mean, that ride is is filled with animatronics,
- 2:01:50Speaker 3: I mean larger than life animatronics, and it's just I
- 2:01:54Speaker 3: can't even imagine what the budget was to like build them.
- 2:01:58Speaker 3: And it's just that it's just again that like level
- 2:02:01Speaker 3: of detail, Like animatronics just take a lot of detail,
- 2:02:06Speaker 3: and there was just so much care and everything I
- 2:02:08Speaker 3: think that went into into that. And then yeah, and
- 2:02:13Speaker 3: of course, you know, we'll talk more here about our
- 2:02:15Speaker 3: overall thoughts of the Wizarding section. But I think again
- 2:02:19Speaker 3: like detail is just the kind of reoccurring theme. I
- 2:02:23Speaker 3: think it's maybe even I would say, like think of
- 2:02:27Speaker 3: the level of detail that's in Diagon Alley, and that's
- 2:02:30Speaker 3: what you're gonna get there in terms of like just
- 2:02:33Speaker 3: the shop, the things in the shop windows, and the
- 2:02:35Speaker 3: things hanging off the shop windows and looking into the windows,
- 2:02:38Speaker 3: the things you can see. It's like that and hogs
- 2:02:41Speaker 3: me too. But I think if you want to compare
- 2:02:43Speaker 3: it to like one of those parks it's probably the
- 2:02:46Speaker 3: most similar to Diagon Alley. But yeah, the whole the
- 2:02:50Speaker 3: whole point of this tangent I'm going on here is
- 2:02:53Speaker 3: the whole park is just so detail oriented. Yeah, like
- 2:02:59Speaker 3: they've really like set the bar I think for like
- 2:03:01Speaker 3: what theme parks can do and what universal can do.
- 2:03:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I understand what you mean.
- 2:03:11Speaker 4: Like, especially in the Islands of Adventure, it seems like
- 2:03:14Speaker 4: it's everything that's like stacked together and it's like blended,
- 2:03:18Speaker 4: and so you get like Jurassic Wizarding World, something.
- 2:03:23Speaker 2: Weird going on there, like this mash of.
- 2:03:25Speaker 4: Things, and like it happens across all of these different lands,
- 2:03:28Speaker 4: but here it seems like each land it's its own world.
- 2:03:32Speaker 4: So it's even as it's almost as if they had
- 2:03:35Speaker 4: been taking notes and being like, Okay, how can we
- 2:03:37Speaker 4: improve on this and this and that, and they took
- 2:03:40Speaker 4: it to the next level and beyond, because it really,
- 2:03:44Speaker 4: from what you guys are saying, it feels like you're
- 2:03:46Speaker 4: stepping literally into all these different worlds and there's you know,
- 2:03:50Speaker 4: you cannot see what's beyond those lands other than where
- 2:03:54Speaker 4: you are actually at. So like the first thing that
- 2:03:58Speaker 4: came to my mind is, well, Diagonaley because buildings are
- 2:04:00Speaker 4: so tall that you can't see anything, and it's almost
- 2:04:04Speaker 4: completely immersive, except when you leave London you have like
- 2:04:08Speaker 4: you know, when you are like in the least or square,
- 2:04:14Speaker 4: you can it's the immersion breaks because you know, you
- 2:04:17Speaker 4: get the Simpsons right over there and they're like, it's
- 2:04:20Speaker 4: not as like immersive. So it does really seem like
- 2:04:24Speaker 4: they really leveled up in that regard, and it's really
- 2:04:29Speaker 4: really cool to hear all of this.
- 2:04:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and the.
- 2:04:32Speaker 3: Portal entries themselves are even kind of separate from each other,
- 2:04:36Speaker 3: so like as you're walking up to go into the
- 2:04:39Speaker 3: Ministry of Magic portal, it's not like Dark Universes right there,
- 2:04:44Speaker 3: like it's all the way over there, so it's like,
- 2:04:46Speaker 3: as you're walking up to the portal, you're only seeing
- 2:04:49Speaker 3: the portal that you're walking up to. But I mean, yeah,
- 2:04:52Speaker 3: i mean even with like Nintendo, they like Amy said,
- 2:04:56Speaker 3: it's multi level. When you walk into that portal, you
- 2:04:58Speaker 3: go up at escalator, you enter the world through Princess
- 2:05:02Speaker 3: Peach's Castle and you're on the second level and you
- 2:05:04Speaker 3: still can't see outside. I'm literally looking around and I'm
- 2:05:08Speaker 3: like I just see the sky, I said, to Amy,
- 2:05:09Speaker 3: if it wasn't raining right now and it was a
- 2:05:11Speaker 3: blue sky, it would literally look like we're right in
- 2:05:14Speaker 3: the game like with the blue sky and the clouds,
- 2:05:16Speaker 3: and like, I'm like, how is it We're up on
- 2:05:18Speaker 3: a second level right now and we still can't see
- 2:05:21Speaker 3: outside of this area. Like, I just don't know how
- 2:05:23Speaker 3: they did it. Again, Yeah, I think Isle of Burke
- 2:05:26Speaker 3: is the only one that like you kind of can
- 2:05:29Speaker 3: see a little bit outside of it. But yeah, the
- 2:05:33Speaker 3: immersion level I think is is next level in that
- 2:05:37Speaker 3: that regard. It's like they took what, yeah, exactly what
- 2:05:40Speaker 3: they were able to do with the Wizarding World and
- 2:05:42Speaker 3: just like copy pasted it into an entire park.
- 2:05:45Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, h.
- 2:05:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:05:48Speaker 2: Ties in really well with the portals too.
- 2:05:52Speaker 3: And I know for you it is you feel like
- 2:05:56Speaker 3: you you felt like you go in, you go in,
- 2:05:57Speaker 3: and then I know we said that the portals the self,
- 2:06:00Speaker 3: maybe I don't feel as immersive, but like they are
- 2:06:02Speaker 3: a really good transportation method to like once you walk
- 2:06:05Speaker 3: in and like you like walk a little bit and
- 2:06:09Speaker 3: you turn around like you're fully into that that area
- 2:06:13Speaker 3: and it feels like you're in, like you know, a
- 2:06:16Speaker 3: different theme part for that time that time being.
- 2:06:22Speaker 4: But let's just quickly touch on your favorite wizarding section,
- 2:06:27Speaker 4: Like what do you feel was the.
- 2:06:28Speaker 1: Best besides Cirque Arcanau. I did really enjoy just running
- 2:06:36Speaker 1: around and doing the wand magic because it does it
- 2:06:41Speaker 1: forces you to look at the details, right, but it's
- 2:06:44Speaker 1: also like just very cool, Like I love doing it,
- 2:06:47Speaker 1: And because it wasn't so crowded, it was nice to
- 2:06:50Speaker 1: be able to go up and do those spots without
- 2:06:53Speaker 1: like having to wait a really long time in a
- 2:06:56Speaker 1: line or anything like that. Yeah, I think just those
- 2:07:01Speaker 1: two things were definitely my favorite.
- 2:07:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I think my favorite part of the wizarding section
- 2:07:09Speaker 3: was honestly just walking the streets and the details, And
- 2:07:12Speaker 3: I wish that we had been able to interact with
- 2:07:14Speaker 3: all the different characters, but we did get to see
- 2:07:17Speaker 3: the like jazz band play and that.
- 2:07:20Speaker 1: Was really cool.
- 2:07:20Speaker 3: Little puffs and the way they interact with the crowd.
- 2:07:26Speaker 3: It just felt like very like it just felt again,
- 2:07:29Speaker 3: it just felt very immersive. And I think even like
- 2:07:35Speaker 3: if we had been able to experience like the students
- 2:07:37Speaker 3: and like the oars and stuff, it would have just
- 2:07:39Speaker 3: added to that immersion level. But I think honestly just
- 2:07:43Speaker 3: being there and being in the I know that sounds
- 2:07:45Speaker 3: so like cliche, but just being in the streets and
- 2:07:48Speaker 3: looking at the details and just feeling like you're part
- 2:07:51Speaker 3: of this world like that was definitely like my favorite
- 2:07:56Speaker 3: part of that park was really just yeah, just being there,
- 2:08:06Speaker 3: Like we were looking forward to it to so long,
- 2:08:08Speaker 3: We've talked.
- 2:08:08Speaker 2: About it so long. Yeah, yeah, and.
- 2:08:10Speaker 3: Then to just actually be there and see the things
- 2:08:12Speaker 3: that you've talked about and read about like come to
- 2:08:14Speaker 3: life and it being just as cool as like it sounded.
- 2:08:21Speaker 4: It was just yeah, nice, can't wait to experience it
- 2:08:25Speaker 4: for myself. Hopefully next time we get to visit it together,
- 2:08:29Speaker 4: so fu Yeah, and we can take a proper picture.
- 2:08:33Speaker 4: Not that the other pictures weren't real because they were.
- 2:08:35Speaker 3: But right at a proper picture.
- 2:08:38Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Well lost two unpack there. So yeah,
- 2:08:47Speaker 1: this might set the record for our longest episode ever.
- 2:08:53Speaker 2: Expected.
- 2:08:53Speaker 3: But I mean to say, amen, and I really enjoyed
- 2:08:57Speaker 3: our time. We really enjoyed the part. And yeah, yes,
- 2:09:04Speaker 3: I would say even with some like not even negatives,
- 2:09:07Speaker 3: I think, like not everything's perfect, right, So there's definitely
- 2:09:09Speaker 3: some like criticisms, but I think even with that like,
- 2:09:12Speaker 3: I feel like it's safe to say it's probably a
- 2:09:14Speaker 3: glowing review for both of us. Yeah, from both of us. Son, Okay,
- 2:09:26Speaker 3: So on episode twenty two, we had asked which Universal
- 2:09:31Speaker 3: theme park would you like to visit and why? So
- 2:09:34Speaker 3: Jerry said, no contest. The Harry Potter related theme park
- 2:09:38Speaker 3: other than those in Orlando that I most want to
- 2:09:40Speaker 3: visit is the one in Osaka, Japan. That is, if
- 2:09:43Speaker 3: I can travel by magical means, why first, all of
- 2:09:46Speaker 3: the magical Beast interactions. I want to attend the Hippogriff
- 2:09:50Speaker 3: lesson and see the Pygmy puff baby dragon and Niflor
- 2:09:52Speaker 3: up close and interact with them. And honestly, if Epic
- 2:09:55Speaker 3: Universe can host a toothless meet and greet, they have
- 2:09:58Speaker 3: one Jerry and have a baby night like dragons walking
- 2:10:01Speaker 3: about at all times, why can't they have a buffbeak
- 2:10:04Speaker 3: or teddy pastries Me and great Cassie, you're going there? Yeah,
- 2:10:07Speaker 3: I agree, I agree. Other than the beast from the
- 2:10:10Speaker 3: Circus show, well, I will say too though. The good
- 2:10:13Speaker 3: thing is is like if you go when you like
- 2:10:15Speaker 3: go to Epic Universe and you do like that wand
- 2:10:18Speaker 3: magic and you interact like, no, you're not like getting
- 2:10:21Speaker 3: to pet them and be face to face with them,
- 2:10:22Speaker 3: but it does feel very like interactive, Like Amy and
- 2:10:26Speaker 3: I were like baby talking the moon calf in the window,
- 2:10:28Speaker 3: like we were talking to a real thing. Like so
- 2:10:31Speaker 3: you definitely get what more than Yeah, so I think
- 2:10:38Speaker 3: like you will get that, you know, and the Demi
- 2:10:41Speaker 3: guys feels really real and everything like that, and yes,
- 2:10:46Speaker 3: exactly exactly. Jerry also said, second, from what I have heard,
- 2:10:51Speaker 3: the black light with reflection of Hogwarts Castle sounds like
- 2:10:54Speaker 3: a great view. Orlando won't be putting a lake in
- 2:10:57Speaker 3: the right place, but I do think if they worked
- 2:10:59Speaker 3: on it, they could add some more creature interactions and
- 2:11:01Speaker 3: close up experiences. I agree, And I think like what
- 2:11:05Speaker 3: they're doing with Epic Universe is like the start of
- 2:11:07Speaker 3: that for sure, and even like the portrait window that
- 2:11:12Speaker 3: you can interact with it, Epic Universe is really cool.
- 2:11:16Speaker 3: She did not want to talk to me and Amy.
- 2:11:18Speaker 3: We tried twice and she just kept sleeping, and I
- 2:11:20Speaker 3: was really upset about that. But if you can, I
- 2:11:24Speaker 3: overheard some other people interacting with that portrait and it's
- 2:11:26Speaker 3: a very cool interaction. And yeah, so I hope you
- 2:11:32Speaker 3: can get to Japan one day, Jerry, I also hope
- 2:11:34Speaker 3: I can too, But in the meantime, I think you
- 2:11:37Speaker 3: will find some of these experiences that you can have
- 2:11:40Speaker 3: at Epic Universe will hopefully help to carry you over
- 2:11:47Speaker 3: until you can get to Japan.
- 2:11:48Speaker 4: Yes, okay, So that leads us to our discussion question
- 2:11:55Speaker 4: for this week, which is what are you most excited
- 2:11:57Speaker 4: for at Ministry of Magic. As always, we would love

- 2:12:42Speaker 2: Yes, yes, I saw video a me uploaded.
- 2:12:46Speaker 1: Yes, all right, so we are officially out of our
- 2:12:53Speaker 1: theme park era with this episode, So next episode, make
- 2:12:58Speaker 1: sure to listen because we're going to switching it up
- 2:13:00Speaker 1: with a different topic to be determined.
- 2:13:05Speaker 3: But are we fully out of the era with all
- 2:13:07Speaker 3: check our social media. This is kind of be lingering
- 2:13:10Speaker 3: and the air is very longer. So if you're sad
- 2:13:14Speaker 3: that Arthy in Park talk is done, they're still a
- 2:13:17Speaker 3: little sad content to come. Yeah, you know that we'll
- 2:13:21Speaker 3: always be talking about it.
- 2:13:25Speaker 2: It'll come up again, recurring.
- 2:13:28Speaker 1: Yeah, until next time. I'm Amy, I'm Nicole, and I'm
