Latest / No Dribble / Delta Goodrem Round, Romelda's Big Moment & a GIANT Heartbreak
Transcript
- 0:08Speaker 1: Well, henceforth, we're going to refer to round ten of
- 0:10Speaker 1: the sun Cop super Netbral twenty twenty sixth season as
- 0:13Speaker 1: the Delta Goodroom Round, because while most of Australia is
- 0:17Speaker 1: saying Delta number four is pretty good, there are at
- 0:20Speaker 1: least four super netbol teams thinking actually, yeah, fours looking
- 0:24Speaker 1: pretty good to me too. So much network to talk about,
- 0:27Speaker 1: you're with no dribble strapping.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Do you have any idea what she's talking about.
- 0:43Speaker 3: I I even watched Delta. I don't know.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I wouldn't live it. Gordy was telling you. You don't
- 0:49Speaker 2: know about Delta, no idea.
- 0:52Speaker 4: Gordy told me, I'm not a massive Eurovision head, but
- 0:55Speaker 4: I do see it pop up every year and I
- 0:57Speaker 4: have a passing interest. I think it's from like Ebba.
- 1:01Speaker 4: When I was a kid, I loved Abba, so you
- 1:03Speaker 4: know that's when my first Yeah, I love and so
- 1:05Speaker 4: I actually I don't stop and watch it, but when Delta, like,
- 1:10Speaker 4: I went and found Delta's performance and watched it. She
- 1:12Speaker 4: was amazing. It's not my type of music, but she was.
- 1:16Speaker 4: She nailed every part of it. I thought, you know,
- 1:19Speaker 4: she's like like when she was getting towards the end.
- 1:21Speaker 4: I thought she's on, like, she's a goal attack on
- 1:23Speaker 4: one hundred percent game.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Don't fall off the you know what that think. No,
- 1:29Speaker 2: you aren't, Grace White of you.
- 1:32Speaker 3: She is right.
- 1:32Speaker 4: So she's you know when the thing came up in
- 1:34Speaker 4: them like that she was standing on and she went
- 1:36Speaker 4: up and I was like, oh, that's like the last
- 1:39Speaker 4: three minutes and the game's even and you're on one
- 1:41Speaker 4: hundred percent, and she nailed it.
- 1:44Speaker 3: She was amazing.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Have you seen the footage of what happened when it
- 1:47Speaker 2: wasn't like the actual show though, No, so that when
- 1:50Speaker 2: the cameras are on, they're doing the actual bits and
- 1:52Speaker 2: you don't see the thing come up. You don't see
- 1:54Speaker 2: her jump from a seat up to there's other vision
- 1:56Speaker 2: of that all happening. Yeah, and how quickly she's got
- 1:58Speaker 2: to run up a step on the piano. This thing
- 2:01Speaker 2: comes out. There's all these people come out of nowhere.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Oh, it's crazy.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I need to go back and find that now.
- 2:05Speaker 4: And so you know when she was again when going
- 2:08Speaker 4: back to when she was standing on that thing that
- 2:09Speaker 4: came up out of the floor when we did Gladiators
- 2:13Speaker 4: and you know the one where they stand up on
- 2:15Speaker 4: the well, they climb up onto the pyramid thing.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Oh no, it's like it's like a.
- 2:21Speaker 1: It's like a frame above the floor. They have to
- 2:23Speaker 1: run on a narrow Oh.
- 2:25Speaker 3: My god, see menopause. All the words have gone.
- 2:28Speaker 2: You know.
- 2:28Speaker 3: When they beat each other.
- 2:29Speaker 1: They try to get each other off the that's the
- 2:31Speaker 1: best one, the big pylons.
- 2:32Speaker 4: That they stand on top of. We got up there
- 2:34Speaker 4: and we had to do some hosting from up.
- 2:36Speaker 3: There and had to stand on it. And I stood
- 2:38Speaker 3: up and my legs got the shakes. And I'm not
- 2:40Speaker 3: scared of heights.
- 2:41Speaker 4: But you know, like you're running a little a little
- 2:43Speaker 4: area and it was all very soft, but it was
- 2:45Speaker 4: a couple of meters up in the air. I think
- 2:48Speaker 4: once I was beating someone with a stick, I'd forget
- 2:50Speaker 4: about it, like the competitive juices and kicking. But I
- 2:53Speaker 4: remember standing there trying to talk and bows, you know,
- 2:55Speaker 4: all hands everywhere, and I'm.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Like, okay, I just don't fall off.
- 2:59Speaker 4: I thought, imagine she's in heels in a big floby
- 3:02Speaker 4: dress so much she could trip over. I would find
- 3:05Speaker 4: fifteen things on that outfit to trip over. And it's
- 3:07Speaker 4: going up and there's wind and there's crowds she's amazing.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Well, in case you don't know, Delta Goodroom represented Australia
- 3:15Speaker 1: in Eurovision again on the weekend. I don't understand why
- 3:18Speaker 1: Australia is in Eurovision. I've never understood this. I don't
- 3:21Speaker 1: know what would happen to Eurovision if Australia won, because
- 3:25Speaker 1: whoever wins gets hosting rights. But anyway, Delta came forth,
- 3:29Speaker 1: and so that was my reference. Is that, you know,
- 3:32Speaker 1: coming forth is what quite a number of clubs, clubs
- 3:36Speaker 1: in super Netbul are aspiring to at the moment.
- 3:39Speaker 2: So that was my reference. Katherine, Now I knew what
- 3:43Speaker 2: I was saying is I wouldn't have known that. Oh
- 3:46Speaker 2: if I hadn't just been with Gordon.
- 3:49Speaker 4: You would try to drag me down with you if
- 3:52Speaker 4: I didn't know you were Mace.
- 3:56Speaker 3: I don't know what I'm interested in.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Before I introduced the sh I will tell you when
- 4:00Speaker 1: I went to the Elton John concert He's Goodbye Yellow
- 4:03Speaker 1: Brick Road concert. At the end they had this massive
- 4:06Speaker 1: multimedia screen for the whole show.
- 4:08Speaker 2: It was amazing.
- 4:09Speaker 1: But at the end they had him going up on
- 4:11Speaker 1: this on this platform, up you know, up to the
- 4:13Speaker 1: Yellow Brick Road. But obviously they thought Elton's getting on
- 4:17Speaker 1: in years. We'll give him something to hold on to,
- 4:19Speaker 1: you know, like in those UI ads, how they're all
- 4:21Speaker 1: holding onto something. It turns around it's quite distracting. Well,
- 4:24Speaker 1: Elton held on to it, and unfortunately it looked like
- 4:28Speaker 1: a zimmer frame. I think her one stage is grand
- 4:34Speaker 1: piano moved across the table and that looked like a
- 4:36Speaker 1: mobility scooter.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Oh that's funny. We've not even said hello, Introduce the show.
- 4:42Speaker 1: And welcome to know all the podcasts where we talk
- 4:45Speaker 1: about Eurovision and netball and Elton John and so much more.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I'm Carolyn Swindon, I'm Cathcox and and and and I'm Lizellison.
- 4:54Speaker 2: I'm here to playing room. How exciting.
- 4:56Speaker 3: It is very exciting. So as my daughter likes to
- 4:59Speaker 3: put it.
- 4:59Speaker 4: When I come down here to watch her play netball
- 5:01Speaker 4: and I leave, she's like, enjoy your podcast.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Play dat.
- 5:06Speaker 2: You know this could not be better timing because I
- 5:09Speaker 2: had a delivery.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Oh that's exciting.
- 5:11Speaker 1: So we've got a lot I want to talk to
- 5:14Speaker 1: you about because you've had a big.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Starting with presents. As you can see from the Chinese
- 5:20Speaker 2: label on top.
- 5:21Speaker 3: It's not astrang.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Do we need scissors to open up. I did it
- 5:26Speaker 2: on my box, but it doesn't.
- 5:27Speaker 3: You're a little I don't want to hang on Carolyn.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Yeah, when you get the same present from your grandparents,
- 5:33Speaker 2: I can't open mind.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Oh god, yeah, Oh there's sciss is there?
- 5:38Speaker 2: Right? So this is good podcast stuff? Isn't anyway? They
- 5:40Speaker 2: are opening entertainment bosses. She's peaked already. This is happening.
- 5:50Speaker 2: She's opening it.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Goodness, this is great.
- 5:59Speaker 2: So Catherine, I know you had pink ones.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought you deperately gave us this rainbow, most
- 6:07Speaker 4: beautiful one.
- 6:09Speaker 3: That's such a that's such a goal of tap. I'm
- 6:11Speaker 3: going to buy your presents. But I were, by myself
- 6:13Speaker 3: the nicest one, to.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Be completely honest, this is a team purchase, and I
- 6:18Speaker 2: thought they were all this. So do you know what
- 6:23Speaker 2: I did this morning? So my credit card is in it? Guys?
- 6:26Speaker 2: Are the fairy ones?
- 6:27Speaker 3: Can we tell people what they are?
- 6:28Speaker 4: So they're fairy ones that you put your credit card
- 6:30Speaker 4: in and then when you go to tap, instead of
- 6:32Speaker 4: tapping your credit card, you tap your wand yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 2: So I took it to my local this morning and
- 6:36Speaker 2: I thought, I'm not trying this somewhere that I don't
- 6:39Speaker 2: know the people in case it doesn't work, and it
- 6:42Speaker 2: did work to treat that's so big.
- 6:44Speaker 1: So what if we all cast a spell and we
- 6:47Speaker 1: ask Alex to do a sound effect. Why we'll do it,
- 6:51Speaker 1: Biberty Bobby boom boom. Well, Catherine, that is the hang
- 6:57Speaker 1: up on.
- 6:58Speaker 3: We've screwed it in and we're going to put the credit.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Put it in your slip. That's what she said.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Okay, so there we go, hang on most slips all
- 7:11Speaker 4: closed up.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Oh that's what she did.
- 7:15Speaker 1: And welcome to the menopause segment of the No Triple podcastle.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I can be completely honest. I just shove it in there,
- 7:34Speaker 2: give it a bit of a baby. Are there anymore?
- 7:36Speaker 2: Do you know what the problem is? Once you get
- 7:38Speaker 2: it in there, you can't get it out of The
- 7:40Speaker 2: credit card is gone forever.
- 7:42Speaker 1: This is great, though, because my credit card sits around
- 7:44Speaker 1: on the bench and the children just take it after
- 7:47Speaker 1: the shops whenever they want to, and they always make
- 7:49Speaker 1: some excuse that it's like, oh we needed milk, and
- 7:52Speaker 1: it's like did we need milk?
- 7:53Speaker 2: And chocolate?
- 7:54Speaker 1: Biscuits and energy drinks and whatever. I'm going to put
- 7:57Speaker 1: it in kids want to use my credit card to
- 8:00Speaker 1: buy grocery items, They're really going to want.
- 8:03Speaker 2: To have to use it, right, this is outstanding, Catherine
- 8:08Speaker 2: at the airport when you're going home today.
- 8:10Speaker 4: So Carolyn, are we going to tell people about how
- 8:12Speaker 4: we're going to change the pod up I sweep?
- 8:14Speaker 2: I think we should.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Given that we forgot to do the intro, we might
- 8:17Speaker 4: as well. You know, we're halfway through this week already,
- 8:19Speaker 4: and let's tell people how it's changed.
- 8:21Speaker 3: You know, the pod that you thought you bought today. Yeah,
- 8:24Speaker 3: you don't get what you pay for.
- 8:26Speaker 1: You get Freesteak Knives this week, this week and for
- 8:30Speaker 1: the foreseeable future, like we think it'll probably be for
- 8:33Speaker 1: there's going to be two no Dribble episodes a week.
- 8:36Speaker 1: So instead of one giant episode, we're going to do
- 8:41Speaker 1: two moderately sized episodes to drop on a Wednesday and
- 8:45Speaker 1: a Friday. Now, lest you think that means we're going
- 8:49Speaker 1: to be more up to date, we'll still be recording
- 8:51Speaker 1: them both on the same day, so we won't usually
- 8:54Speaker 1: have any additional goths on a Friday that is not
- 8:57Speaker 1: already known to us on a Monday. But you know,
- 9:00Speaker 1: we want to be in your ears twice a week
- 9:02Speaker 1: because we love you.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Absolutely, I think, well, Catherine, this is this is amazing,
- 9:14Speaker 1: and I'm going to use my wand to gesture to you, yes,
- 9:17Speaker 1: because you are a recent record holder. Sh It went
- 9:24Speaker 1: down on the weekend, but you're still amazing.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Yeah what what? What a beautiful A beautiful ceremony was
- 9:33Speaker 1: I just you're so classy, Catherine. I just you were
- 9:36Speaker 1: not in the teensiest bit churlish about handing the record over.
- 9:41Speaker 1: You were generous, you were delightful.
- 9:43Speaker 2: I'm very proud of you have been very churlish. I
- 9:47Speaker 2: don't know what that means, but I yeah, it means cranky.
- 9:51Speaker 1: You can't people ungracious.
- 9:54Speaker 2: And of all the people, she's just, I mean, has
- 9:58Speaker 2: done everything. When Gordie was rattling off her a list
- 10:00Speaker 2: of achievements, everything more than I've done so well and
- 10:04Speaker 2: truly so thoroughly deserves it. I feel like the next
- 10:07Speaker 2: one won't be that far behind. Camaloney in two hundred games,
- 10:10Speaker 2: so she's three at least years away, which and also
- 10:14Speaker 2: with rolling s up, so I feel like you can
- 10:16Speaker 2: get game caps very quickly because you give me on
- 10:19Speaker 2: the court for two minutes taken off again, that may
- 10:21Speaker 2: change things, but it was certainly nice to have it
- 10:24Speaker 2: for twelve years. Wow. If that's how long I had it,
- 10:28Speaker 2: I don't know, because it's the longest record. Well when
- 10:31Speaker 2: did you retire? Well? Yeah, but like I could have
- 10:33Speaker 2: because I played from the very first year. Gordon, I
- 10:35Speaker 2: were trying to work out if I've had it the
- 10:37Speaker 2: entire time. At what point? Well, because we played in
- 10:42Speaker 2: the very foste games, I've played nearly all the games.
- 10:46Speaker 2: So was it a record I've had since day one? Yeah?
- 10:51Speaker 4: So like these National League started ninety seven, ninety seven
- 10:59Speaker 4: and worked thirty years, because we're all celebrating the thirty years.
- 11:02Speaker 4: So I think, I reckon, you're like all of us
- 11:05Speaker 4: in that first few all record, and then as people
- 11:08Speaker 4: retired and came.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Through, you see what she's trying to do, So she
- 11:13Speaker 2: can totally.
- 11:14Speaker 3: I'm so on your coat is here.
- 11:16Speaker 4: But then like as all of us old, he's retired,
- 11:18Speaker 4: you're the only one who kept playing. And so yeah,
- 11:20Speaker 4: you you held it. You should have been given a
- 11:22Speaker 4: presentation at every bloody game.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Every day you play.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Gordy brought this up. I was like, oh god, ye,
- 11:31Speaker 2: that's a good point could have been years.
- 11:34Speaker 1: I'm wondering those if Ramelda's now just gone, well, I'm
- 11:37Speaker 1: going to sit down forever now.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I'm not even going to play the rest of the
- 11:40Speaker 2: season because I've got the record to do and as
- 11:45Speaker 2: soon as the whistle goes right. So she could have
- 11:47Speaker 2: just come straight off without Hiven touching the ball. Absolutely, yeah,
- 11:50Speaker 2: she could have didn't play that well. I've got to
- 11:52Speaker 2: tell you a very funny story though. From the moment
- 11:54Speaker 2: I landed in Perth, I had a moment that I've
- 11:58Speaker 2: not been in before and probably won't be in again.
- 12:01Speaker 2: But there was a situation I was in that for
- 12:03Speaker 2: a minute. I wanted to be in your body, Carolyn.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I hear this a lot, do you.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah? It was very bizarre. So I had gone to
- 12:12Speaker 2: pick up my high car and the lady looked at
- 12:15Speaker 2: me and goes, oh, you're traveling by yourself. I said yeah.
- 12:17Speaker 2: She goes, is that your only bag? I said yeah,
- 12:19Speaker 2: She goes got all excited. Can I offer you a
- 12:22Speaker 2: free upgrade? Oh yeah, she said, it's just a bit
- 12:25Speaker 2: of the smaller car. Sweetest words. Yeah, well, normally it's
- 12:29Speaker 2: just a bit of a smaller car. So if you
- 12:31Speaker 2: buy yourself and you've only got that bag, you'll be fine.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Do you want to come and see? She was all excited.
- 12:36Speaker 2: She runs outside and behind her it was an MX five.
- 12:39Speaker 2: It would have come up to my hip. And I
- 12:42Speaker 2: looked at her and I said, oh, that's very sweet.
- 12:44Speaker 2: But I would never fit in that nod and if
- 12:47Speaker 2: I did, I would never get out of it. But
- 12:48Speaker 2: it was a convertible.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Oh did you try and squeeze yourself?
- 12:52Speaker 2: I would have never got out of it. Really, it
- 12:54Speaker 2: was honestly up to my hip standing up. It was
- 12:57Speaker 2: so lot what the roof was up to your roof?
- 12:59Speaker 2: It was so load to the ground. And I was thinking, oh,
- 13:02Speaker 2: this is a good time to be a swindow, isn't it?
- 13:05Speaker 2: Rocking around the convertible in Perth for two days? Great?
- 13:08Speaker 2: Did you see?
- 13:09Speaker 1: The Swifts had some social media posts on the weekend
- 13:12Speaker 1: last week about the flight to Perth. Who would you
- 13:14Speaker 1: want to sit next to? And they put you in
- 13:16Speaker 1: the middle seat of like a row halfway back and
- 13:19Speaker 1: it's like, well, don't choose Catherine to sit next to
- 13:21Speaker 1: you on the plane, because if you put her in
- 13:22Speaker 1: the middle seat at the back of the.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Plane, she's going to be cranky. Yeah, no, don't do she's.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Going to be climbing over you to go.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I did fly home with we'll get back to Rameldoon
- 13:32Speaker 2: a minute.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 13:32Speaker 2: I did fly home last night, which was cool. So
- 13:37Speaker 2: happy were they were very happy. But there was babies everywhere,
- 13:41Speaker 2: none of which wanted to sleep. So when I first
- 13:44Speaker 2: got to the airport, I saw Maddie Prowd and her
- 13:46Speaker 2: mum had gone over and Lily was ka owed in
- 13:51Speaker 2: the prem and I said to oh, no, you've got
- 13:53Speaker 2: to pick her up and get her on the plane.
- 13:54Speaker 2: He's that going to wake her up? She goes, she'll
- 13:56Speaker 2: wake up anyway. She thinks planes are like party time. Anyway,
- 14:01Speaker 2: we were all exhausted. I went to the toilet just
- 14:03Speaker 2: before the flight landed and walked down the back.
- 14:05Speaker 1: And so you land about midnight from that flight, Yeah, it.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Was like ten quarter to eleven at the time we landed. Anyway,
- 14:12Speaker 2: I walked down the back and most of the swifts
- 14:14Speaker 2: were asleep or just barely keeping their eyes open. I
- 14:16Speaker 2: got to the last road where Maddie and her mum were,
- 14:18Speaker 2: and Lily was up and about, poor thing, like it's
- 14:24Speaker 2: one thing to play a game of and how great
- 14:27Speaker 2: was she And then to get on a plane that's
- 14:29Speaker 2: that long at that time of night. But she's got
- 14:31Speaker 2: to be a parent.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Oh that's the pit.
- 14:33Speaker 4: Do you know when you see like babies at age
- 14:35Speaker 4: on planes. I missed my babies when they were little.
- 14:37Speaker 4: But I'm so happy that my babies aren't that.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Little anymore, not on a plane.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Particularly after playing a game.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no downtime. She has all that time I
- 14:46Speaker 2: wasted just watching movies and taking it for granted.
- 14:49Speaker 1: You're taking it for granted anyway.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Yes, No, it was very special. It was so nice
- 14:55Speaker 2: to be on the ground in Perth. The crowd was huge.
- 14:58Speaker 2: The way they did did it up for her with
- 15:02Speaker 2: a big archway that she wore all the T shirts
- 15:06Speaker 2: and so that Fever did that. Fever did it. Good
- 15:09Speaker 2: job team, they blew it up. It was unreal.
- 15:12Speaker 1: And Sasha Glasgow's hundredth game, Yes, I feel like we
- 15:15Speaker 1: should acknowledge that because that might have got a little
- 15:18Speaker 1: bit lost. So Sasha, congratulations, hundred games, not nothing like
- 15:22Speaker 1: that's a big deal too.
- 15:23Speaker 2: That happened to Cara Khan and to remember that she
- 15:25Speaker 2: for Australia. Liz Watson had her hundredth Yes, that's right.
- 15:29Speaker 2: You don't want that to know.
- 15:30Speaker 3: But look, it was good.
- 15:31Speaker 4: It was so lovely to see and Ramelda was She's
- 15:34Speaker 4: so calm that to see her so emotional like it
- 15:40Speaker 4: was hard to well.
- 15:41Speaker 3: I cried along with her because she was so emotional.
- 15:43Speaker 4: And the overlay of that, I think the fact that
- 15:47Speaker 4: but for getting the late call up, it wouldn't have happened,
- 15:51Speaker 4: you know, yeah, you know when you think about she
- 15:53Speaker 4: really thought that her career was over post Firebirds, and
- 15:56Speaker 4: then Brandi Akle gave her a lifeline and then the
- 15:58Speaker 4: Thunderbirds went hello, a little bit of that action, thanks,
- 16:01Speaker 4: and then the fever. So it was lovely to see
- 16:03Speaker 4: her just be so vulnerable and so open and.
- 16:06Speaker 1: To acknowledge Tanya and Brian.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's fantastic.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Yeah, So I thought it was really good. And Catherine,
- 16:11Speaker 4: you did well. I was waiting for you to whip
- 16:13Speaker 4: out the little hammer beforehand nod and it was great,
- 16:18Speaker 4: like to have you there. I think that was just
- 16:19Speaker 4: so meaningful and so special. So I'm so pleasing Fox
- 16:22Speaker 4: three for you across because it was just like you
- 16:25Speaker 4: don't get these moments very often in sport and to
- 16:27Speaker 4: have the record holder handing literally handing the bat and
- 16:30Speaker 4: over it's so good.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:32Speaker 2: And she did mention too that her mum's not been
- 16:33Speaker 2: well and her mum's in Jamaica, so that's a big
- 16:38Speaker 2: part in all the emotion as well. A big week,
- 16:40Speaker 2: big week for Ramelda, and I hope last night she
- 16:43Speaker 2: at least got to sit somewhere quietly and take it
- 16:47Speaker 2: all in. Yeah. Absolutely, Yeah, deserving, amazing, amazing.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Wow, that was the week that was. Should we have
- 16:56Speaker 1: a little break and then talk about the actual netball stuff?
- 16:59Speaker 3: Sure?
- 17:00Speaker 2: I think we should.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Okay, yes, So that was round ten. I've already explained
- 17:17Speaker 1: that it is the Delta Goodroom Round. I don't know
- 17:19Speaker 1: how long that will last. Well, maybe in twenty twenty
- 17:21Speaker 1: seven we'll call it the Delta Goodroom Round again.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Why not.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Let's start some traditions right here. But had some upsets
- 17:27Speaker 1: on the weekend. Hey, that was really interesting. One of
- 17:31Speaker 1: the biggest upsets was my tipping when I put my
- 17:33Speaker 1: tipping video up and what I thought I had tipped
- 17:36Speaker 1: would have got me two out of four, but apparently
- 17:38Speaker 1: I got three out of it.
- 17:39Speaker 2: That last week as well. I'm incompetent let's you know,
- 17:43Speaker 2: oh my strength, I don't know. When I try hard,
- 17:46Speaker 2: it goes poorly.
- 17:47Speaker 1: When I accidentally do something it does better, so you
- 17:50Speaker 1: know whatever.
- 17:51Speaker 2: How many people thought about changing their tip when they
- 17:53Speaker 2: saw all the people out for the Vixen zone and
- 17:56Speaker 2: how many did it?
- 17:57Speaker 1: Well, not many did it. Only nine people got five points. Yeah,
- 18:02Speaker 1: nine people got being gone.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Nearly eight hundred.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Yeah, so three hundred and ninety five people got two points,
- 18:09Speaker 1: So it was it was a rough round for a
- 18:11Speaker 1: lot of people, but really interesting. So looking at the
- 18:15Speaker 1: margins for the losses on the weekend, the Vixen's had
- 18:17Speaker 1: the biggest margin. It was just a really I don't
- 18:22Speaker 1: know many people saw that coming. I'm clearly nine people
- 18:25Speaker 1: at least saw that coming and saw the swifts coming.
- 18:28Speaker 1: But yeah, they lost by ten to Lightning, and Lightning
- 18:31Speaker 1: just looked like they had it in control from the
- 18:34Speaker 1: very beginning.
- 18:35Speaker 4: Yeah, it's the sort of thing we've been waiting for
- 18:37Speaker 4: Lightning to do a season. And you wonder if Fixon's
- 18:41Speaker 4: had their three big guns there that I think it
- 18:44Speaker 4: STI would have been a pretty good game. I think
- 18:45Speaker 4: Lightning just it was like all season you've been waiting
- 18:49Speaker 4: for the defense line to kick in for the mid
- 18:51Speaker 4: court and for Danelle and Caraz to really fire and
- 18:55Speaker 4: for it all and finally round ten it happened. So
- 18:59Speaker 4: you know, now's the time to get your skates on
- 19:01Speaker 4: in the Delta Gudron round, the gl Delta Gudrom round. Yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 4: I think we should absolutely call it that. It was
- 19:06Speaker 4: interesting with Vicents. They've got such a great track record
- 19:09Speaker 4: of bringing young players through that even when they lose
- 19:12Speaker 4: their big guns, you're still a bit like, oh, they'll
- 19:14Speaker 4: be fine.
- 19:15Speaker 3: So that was unusual as well.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Yeah, but I also thought so Emily Manox has been
- 19:20Speaker 1: playing off the bench for most of the season, Hannah
- 19:22Speaker 1: Mundy was not on court for a lot of those
- 19:26Speaker 1: big come from behind wins that they had last year
- 19:29Speaker 1: that led them into the final. And it can't just
- 19:33Speaker 1: be Rudy Ellis making the difference. Something was happening at
- 19:35Speaker 1: the shooting end too.
- 19:36Speaker 2: So Kira was off.
- 19:39Speaker 1: This extraordinary performance we've seen from her all year, and
- 19:43Speaker 1: you could see her going, what's wrong with me here?
- 19:46Speaker 1: There's something something not quite fine. But it was interesting.
- 19:50Speaker 1: I don't think it was just about the three people
- 19:54Speaker 1: who were off court. Something put them off their rhythm
- 19:56Speaker 1: this week, and they then weren't able to re establish that.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Sometimes that happens. Maybe it was just going to the
- 20:01Speaker 3: Sunny Coast.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Yeah, just one of those.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Games and you know, and and got carried away totally right.
- 20:09Speaker 4: And I'll say sometimes in games like that, the harder you try,
- 20:12Speaker 4: the worst you get, you know. And I know it
- 20:14Speaker 4: sounds so trite, but it doesn't. And you never like,
- 20:18Speaker 4: you know, I hear people say, you know, you go
- 20:21Speaker 4: to sports, it's they're not trying. No, they're trying, it's
- 20:23Speaker 4: just sometimes you're over trying and then your timing's out
- 20:27Speaker 4: of whack because you're worrying about what everyone's doing.
- 20:29Speaker 3: I actually think the loss is good for the Vixen.
- 20:32Speaker 4: I think that when you go through a season like that,
- 20:35Speaker 4: and we saw with the Swifts last year they probably
- 20:38Speaker 4: did a loss early.
- 20:39Speaker 1: So the Vixen's hold that thought because I've got to
- 20:42Speaker 1: ask the goat for you, and came out in our
- 20:44Speaker 1: third segment that I really want to explore that what's what's.
- 20:48Speaker 2: The impact of this? Can we talk about the giants?
- 20:52Speaker 1: God, you're doing so well, You're so brave.
- 20:57Speaker 2: It's hard, isn't it? And they had a shot of
- 21:00Speaker 2: narrator after the game, and you've got a feel for
- 21:02Speaker 2: the coach because I mean you'd imagine she's doing everything
- 21:07Speaker 2: she thinks the team needs at training. At the end
- 21:10Speaker 2: of the day, they've got to get out there and
- 21:11Speaker 2: deliver whatever. That looks like.
- 21:14Speaker 3: It would be.
- 21:14Speaker 2: So stressful, so frustrating when you don't know what to do.
- 21:19Speaker 2: It was very similar to Dan Ryan's face yesterday for
- 21:21Speaker 2: a lot of the game as well. We'll get to
- 21:23Speaker 2: that in a second. But that they are close, aren't they,
- 21:26Speaker 2: And I mean they're not going to win the season.
- 21:28Speaker 2: They're not going to make finals. I think the chance
- 21:29Speaker 2: of them making the top fours like nineteen, I think
- 21:31Speaker 2: it's now gone.
- 21:32Speaker 1: There's only four games left, which means they can get
- 21:34Speaker 1: a maximum of sixteen points, which puts them even with
- 21:39Speaker 1: the Swift. So yeah, we've already got the maps on
- 21:42Speaker 1: twenty fever on twenty four and then I don't know
- 21:46Speaker 1: the stratospheric scores for the Vixens and thunder Beds, but
- 21:50Speaker 1: it's not possible now for the Giants.
- 21:51Speaker 2: No, but you want them to have a win, yes,
- 21:54Speaker 2: You don't want any team to come to go through
- 21:56Speaker 2: a season without a window.
- 21:58Speaker 3: So hard, is it? Yeah, that's really tough.
- 22:00Speaker 4: And wasn't my niece's eighteenth birthday party on Saturday night?
- 22:05Speaker 3: Still got my tattoo. Yeah, happy ad eight.
- 22:08Speaker 2: You didn't think to get it on your face or
- 22:10Speaker 2: your neck?
- 22:11Speaker 3: I really did.
- 22:11Speaker 4: And my daughter went, Mum, it won't come off. And
- 22:14Speaker 4: I was like, oh, don't they just come She's like, no,
- 22:16Speaker 4: these ones don't come off. So thank god for my
- 22:18Speaker 4: sensible fourteen year old. And we had to dress up
- 22:20Speaker 4: as something starting with Bee because she's Brady Benfield so.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Bb and her boyfriend's name is what Brodie and Bridy
- 22:30Speaker 3: so cute?
- 22:31Speaker 4: Yeah, it's so cute. Anyhow, so we had to go
- 22:33Speaker 4: something same with Bee and.
- 22:34Speaker 3: We couldn't figure it out.
- 22:35Speaker 4: And anyway, we decided Matthew cut a hole in a
- 22:39Speaker 4: fam mattress and he went as a bed and I.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Went his breakfast bed bed and breakfast. So what We
- 22:49Speaker 3: just went as a B and B. Why did you wear?
- 22:52Speaker 4: I wore, well, I've got a We had a set
- 22:55Speaker 4: of old pillow cases that we cut up and I
- 22:58Speaker 4: wore one of them over me and my like, I said,
- 23:00Speaker 4: don't go bacon my heart and on Matthew's pillow we
- 23:03Speaker 4: swed the other pillow case which said on Matthew's matress,
- 23:06Speaker 4: just say the other pillow case which said I couldn't
- 23:08Speaker 4: if I friedhow so we were very But then I've
- 23:14Speaker 4: got that song in my head.
- 23:15Speaker 3: And then I wore a rice bubbles box on.
- 23:17Speaker 4: My head, and I hunt two tea bags from my ears,
- 23:21Speaker 4: and then just.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Had a cup.
- 23:27Speaker 3: When I left the party exactly.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Got no paining jobs, remember of them.
- 23:35Speaker 4: I'm the volunteers, so of course I'm not going to
- 23:37Speaker 4: give away my tea bags. And then so there are
- 23:40Speaker 4: lots of jokes made about tea bagging. And then I
- 23:43Speaker 4: just attached the milk carton and a juice carton and
- 23:46Speaker 4: an egg carton to myself and different plots, and off
- 23:49Speaker 4: we went.
- 23:49Speaker 3: So we were being beat. But she's a massive Giants fans,
- 23:55Speaker 3: so we were watching. I was watching the Giants score.
- 23:58Speaker 4: And then I said to my daughter there she would
- 24:01Speaker 4: tell her this could be Bridey's birthday miracle.
- 24:03Speaker 3: And she was like, I don't know. And then someone
- 24:05Speaker 3: else went and told her, and she went and watch
- 24:07Speaker 3: them blues.
- 24:09Speaker 2: So you ruined her birth You did not the Giants,
- 24:13Speaker 2: you ruined it.
- 24:14Speaker 4: I didn't tell her you did someone else because everyone
- 24:17Speaker 4: knows she's a massive giant.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, but that's exactly the same as what happened
- 24:22Speaker 2: with the Vixens. They won the first half really well
- 24:25Speaker 2: and then just left the back ends lost three out
- 24:29Speaker 2: of four quarters. They only won quarter four the Vixens.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Who am I thinking of playing Thunderbirds? It was Thunderbird's
- 24:39Speaker 2: apologies everybody. The Thunderbirds won the first half and then
- 24:42Speaker 2: got steamrolled in the second half. That was interesting because
- 24:46Speaker 2: they are playing each other next week, the Giants and
- 24:48Speaker 2: the Thunderbireds. That's where I got to that here in Sydney.
- 24:51Speaker 4: And to be fair, you lented late last night every
- 24:54Speaker 4: week and think we just so Giants, Firebirds, Thunderbirds, MAVs.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that was an interesting game.
- 25:01Speaker 2: It was really interesting, wasn't it.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Like I think that the Thunderbirds would be looking at
- 25:06Speaker 1: that performance not thrilled.
- 25:09Speaker 4: But you know, like they've had a really great season
- 25:11Speaker 4: as well. You just wonder if this, like you hit
- 25:14Speaker 4: your tenth round. Everyone's starting to think about finals. Vixens
- 25:18Speaker 4: and Thunderbirds can be thinking about finals.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Also, no supershots from the Thunderbirds. So the MAVs.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Got six out of twelve super shots.
- 25:25Speaker 1: So those fifty five goals that the Thunderbirds got were
- 25:29Speaker 1: all single goals, and you know, the MAVs had what
- 25:32Speaker 1: twelve goals of that fifty one that were super shot.
- 25:36Speaker 1: So I love the supershot and a lot of people
- 25:38Speaker 1: don't like it and it would be different blah blah
- 25:41Speaker 1: blah blah, but it is when you are playing super shot.
- 25:44Speaker 1: It's interesting to see that the Teabirds can win without
- 25:47Speaker 1: that when another team is going so regularly.
- 25:50Speaker 2: That's because their defense ends so good at the end
- 25:52Speaker 2: of the day. Though they did win and now they
- 25:53Speaker 2: are top of the table again, are top of the table.
- 25:56Speaker 4: Yeah, but I do wonder if super netpuls like playing
- 25:58Speaker 4: in international every week, right, because it's so fast and
- 26:01Speaker 4: such like atorical question, a bit like this podcast, and
- 26:08Speaker 4: it's like that the intensity and the pressure to deliver
- 26:10Speaker 4: week in work out. I'm not surprised that Thunderbirds that
- 26:13Speaker 4: Vixen's faulted and Thunderbirds had a bit of a rough.
- 26:17Speaker 3: End of the game.
- 26:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I just think they've both been the pace setters
- 26:20Speaker 4: all seasons, so at some point you're faltering is it now?
- 26:22Speaker 3: And then they pick themselves up and finish the seasons.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Do you know what's interesting with the Swifts game? Though
- 26:27Speaker 2: we noted at the very start of the game, Briany
- 26:29Speaker 2: Akle is saying to Grace White, one of the time
- 26:32Speaker 2: outs go the two go the tooth and the first
- 26:36Speaker 2: very time out. Yeah, well they are thinking, I reckon,
- 26:39Speaker 2: they're thinking ahead percentage because it's going to be it's
- 26:42Speaker 2: going to be that close. I think that fourth spot
- 26:45Speaker 2: they need to make theirs a little juicier. But that's
- 26:48Speaker 2: that's where it's at, where four rounds out from finals.
- 26:50Speaker 2: But people will have to start thinking about that stuff. Yeah.
- 26:53Speaker 1: So Lightning Swifts are both on sixteen, but Lightning are
- 26:55Speaker 1: ahead on the ladder because of that.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Yeah, and Swifts have got a tough run home. They
- 26:59Speaker 4: go Thunderbirds and the Vixens. Who's left their phone on.
- 27:04Speaker 2: As a camera?
- 27:05Speaker 4: Oh yeah right, because you know when you do that,
- 27:08Speaker 4: you actually have to you have to bot a slap,
- 27:10Speaker 4: you know that?
- 27:11Speaker 3: Yeah? By around by Casey.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Yeah, but can we and the Swift center past conversions seven?
- 27:21Speaker 2: You are never going to lose a game.
- 27:23Speaker 1: But I just as as as a fan, as a
- 27:26Speaker 1: paid up member, where the hell has this been?
- 27:29Speaker 2: Taylor Fraser Taylor Fraser, not Taylor Williams. Now poor Gordy.
- 27:33Speaker 2: So she said to me at quarter time, she looked
- 27:35Speaker 2: at the phone, she goes, Oh, God, have I been
- 27:37Speaker 2: calling Taylor Fraser Taylor Williams. I said, I'm so sorry.
- 27:41Speaker 2: I didn't even notice.
- 27:42Speaker 4: That Is that funny because you so often you're so
- 27:44Speaker 4: into the game you don't even notice, and when you
- 27:46Speaker 4: do notice, you just poke someone and go yeah, do you.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Want to know who does notice?
- 27:51Speaker 3: Dribblers?
- 27:52Speaker 2: Dribless notice, dribless notice. But everybody was saying on there
- 27:55Speaker 2: as well. I saw the post. Catherinees doesn't want to
- 27:58Speaker 2: embarrass her on air, so she's the break I would
- 28:01Speaker 2: love to embarrass Catherine didn't notice oblivious, Nor did we
- 28:06Speaker 2: notice at some stage of the game that the Fever
- 28:09Speaker 2: had three defensive.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Oh that was funny.
- 28:11Speaker 2: It was that.
- 28:12Speaker 3: That is so funny. Mattie Turner did that.
- 28:15Speaker 2: She ran offside.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Yeah, she's played gold Caper and forgot last year or
- 28:19Speaker 4: the year before.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Yeah, God, that's funny.
- 28:21Speaker 4: I love it when professional players do that because it
- 28:23Speaker 4: makes me feel so much better.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Wings have no business going in the goal circle. Just
- 28:28Speaker 1: stay with the w That's funny. Yeah, that was incredible.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Let me talk to you a little bit about the
- 28:34Speaker 1: val Dribbler's tipping comp We still have our same three
- 28:38Speaker 1: level pegging in first place, firstborn CJ and off to
- 28:41Speaker 1: the pub on a massive forty three points. Stop looking
- 28:45Speaker 1: at my notes, Catherine. I'll tell you the news soon.
- 28:47Speaker 1: I've already told you that it was a low scoring round.
- 28:50Speaker 1: So this is nice our tipper of the round.
- 28:53Speaker 2: You'll all be happy to hear this. I was delighted.
- 28:55Speaker 2: It's our friend Janie Smith.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Oh by Jane tipping name is Swift's tragic. But she
- 29:03Speaker 1: doesn't have on her tipping profile that she follows any team.
- 29:07Speaker 1: But I'm thinking that that's an oversight and it's just
- 29:09Speaker 1: But anyway, Joan, you are the.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Tipper of the round.
- 29:11Speaker 1: So the highest score now of the Hosts and Heroes
- 29:16Speaker 1: ladder the most important one.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Liz, I'm sorry to tell you you're still in last place.
- 29:20Speaker 4: Do you know how much I know that I'm supposed
- 29:22Speaker 4: to be chairman like and you know, except that kills.
- 29:25Speaker 2: You, That hurts my heart, kills it. You're winning the
- 29:30Speaker 2: wrong end. If that makes you feel better, you'll be the.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Golden Turkey of the Hosts and Heroes so we need
- 29:38Speaker 1: to call it something else. There were two hosts and
- 29:41Speaker 1: heroes who got three this round.
- 29:42Speaker 2: I was one of them.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Lisa Bass was another one, and she's a mad swiftie,
- 29:46Speaker 1: so I think that she tipped a little bit with
- 29:48Speaker 1: her heart this week. I certainly did anyway. So we
- 29:51Speaker 1: still have the statsman Darryl in the lead on thirty
- 29:54Speaker 1: eight points, so quite a bit behind what the actual
- 29:58Speaker 1: good tippers are doing. Then Lisa's on thirty seven, Katherine
- 30:02Speaker 1: Cox on thirty six, Gordy thirty four, Alexa your net
- 30:07Speaker 1: BORBESTI also dropped to thirty four behind Gordy, and then
- 30:11Speaker 1: there's like Daylight to Me twenty nine, Keiley twenty seven.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Ki's what's what do you even know about.
- 30:18Speaker 2: What's going to be round one? And forgotten to do them?
- 30:20Speaker 2: Since maybe maybe that's true.
- 30:22Speaker 1: But yeah, so Catherine, you're sitting in a bronze medal position, don't.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Oh a little bit of vomit just came up in
- 30:29Speaker 2: my mouth getting a bronze medal.
- 30:31Speaker 1: You know, the bronze medalists are always the happiest at
- 30:33Speaker 1: the Olympics.
- 30:34Speaker 2: The gold medalists are.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Just so so relieved that they've done it. The silver
- 30:38Speaker 1: medalists are I could have had gold, and the bronze
- 30:42Speaker 1: medalists are like, oh my god, I could have had nothing.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Look at me.
- 30:46Speaker 1: And I think over time, probably the gold medalists become happier,
- 30:49Speaker 1: but that processing thing. The bronze medalists, Yep, this is.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Somebody that's never won a medal.
- 30:57Speaker 1: No, this is spot psychologists you've got.
- 31:00Speaker 4: I'll give you sports psychology, the Talladega Nights sports psychology.
- 31:04Speaker 3: If you're first, your last.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Well that's ridiculous. You could be second. You could be said,
- 31:11Speaker 1: have you seen telltaken?
- 31:14Speaker 3: That's able?
- 31:19Speaker 2: Something about Mountain Dew that.
- 31:23Speaker 3: I'm on jacked up anyway, I don't start.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Me on Ricky one up our own self managed superannuation fun.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Don't worry.
- 31:29Speaker 1: This will get more interesting quite rapidly.
- 31:31Speaker 3: But we've thought it.
- 31:32Speaker 1: The Shaken Bake, Supernation Shake and Bake, Shaken Beef be
- 31:38Speaker 1: on the Shaken Bank note, I reckon, we have a
- 31:41Speaker 1: quick break and then we'll come back with and ask
- 31:43Speaker 1: the goat. Okay, so Liz, this is the goat came
- 31:58Speaker 1: through before the week matches, and I think it's a
- 32:02Speaker 1: really interesting one for us to be talking about now
- 32:05Speaker 1: and it's from Mary, who was in the UK. Hello Mary.
- 32:09Speaker 1: I love the podcast and look forward to it every week.
- 32:11Speaker 1: It helped me through night feeds, breastfeeding my daughter, feeling
- 32:14Speaker 1: like I had the company of friends having a chat
- 32:16Speaker 1: in times that otherwise could feel quite lonely. I love
- 32:19Speaker 1: that so much, Mary, Thank you so much. I did
- 32:22Speaker 1: send her a note telling when I was up doing
- 32:23Speaker 1: the midnight feeds, I used to watch Laura and Order SVU.
- 32:26Speaker 3: I love that show.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Yeah, but when you've got all of those hormones racing
- 32:30Speaker 1: through you and you're so tired, and that's the wrong
- 32:33Speaker 1: time because I just used to go back to bed
- 32:35Speaker 1: and I can't sleep because of all the horrible things
- 32:38Speaker 1: that are being done. But anyway, Mary, we're glad that
- 32:40Speaker 1: we can keep you company. I would like to ask
- 32:43Speaker 1: the goat and the goaler she's got that seat in rackets.
- 32:47Speaker 1: This is not a charity thing for me. It's also
- 32:50Speaker 1: for you to talk about the pros and cons of
- 32:52Speaker 1: being an undefeated team, as the Vixens are at the
- 32:55Speaker 1: time of writing that was last week. Are there any
- 32:58Speaker 1: advantages that might not be obvious? Are the downsides? Would
- 33:01Speaker 1: you prefer to be undefeated or to have some losses
- 33:03Speaker 1: going into the finals are very close wins as good
- 33:07Speaker 1: of a learning experience as a loss. Do you think
- 33:09Speaker 1: an undefeated team going into a finals campaign is more
- 33:12Speaker 1: or less likely to win the premiership? And that's from
- 33:15Speaker 1: Mary Solon in the UK, and I reckon, this is
- 33:18Speaker 1: a cracking question.
- 33:20Speaker 3: It's a great question. Depends so you ask, so we.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Well, I'm asking you and then you I'll.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Give you some perspective.
- 33:28Speaker 4: So we had an undefeated season into two thousand and six,
- 33:31Speaker 4: which was amazing. But as the season built, people keep saying, oh,
- 33:35Speaker 4: you need a loss.
- 33:36Speaker 3: No we don't, but you do feel it in the
- 33:39Speaker 3: back of your head. Do we need a loss to
- 33:40Speaker 3: do an aed? A loss?
- 33:41Speaker 4: And you question yourself, what have we learned? Because the
- 33:43Speaker 4: old adage you learn so much more from losing them
- 33:45Speaker 4: from winning. Right when you lose, you go back and
- 33:47Speaker 4: understand why. When you win, you don't really analyze why.
- 33:50Speaker 2: You just give me what about a close win?
- 33:52Speaker 1: Ah?
- 33:53Speaker 4: Yes, I know still because even more uph it right,
- 33:56Speaker 4: so you know I'm not going to go back and
- 33:57Speaker 4: watch that.
- 33:57Speaker 3: So the coaches might watch.
- 33:58Speaker 4: But I think, like we think about the vicxens last year,
- 34:01Speaker 4: their biggest learning curve was as they started to win
- 34:03Speaker 4: those close ones, but they had all the losses first
- 34:05Speaker 4: to go back and figure out what was going on.
- 34:07Speaker 4: Whereas we saw the Swifts last year, they went challenge
- 34:09Speaker 4: and then when they were challenged they didn't have any
- 34:11Speaker 4: fallback position. So that year that we won undefeated, we
- 34:15Speaker 4: won the premiership to use prior in two thousand and four,
- 34:20Speaker 4: so we had all those learnings from that and then
- 34:24Speaker 4: it was almost exactly the same team and we were
- 34:26Speaker 4: able to continue on. So it depends what sort of
- 34:29Speaker 4: history you got. So for the Vixens, because they won
- 34:31Speaker 4: last year, I wouldn't have been worried about them going
- 34:33Speaker 4: through undefeated because they had all that history behind them.
- 34:37Speaker 4: So it really does depend on the team. Whereas for
- 34:39Speaker 4: the Swifts last year, they are a new team. Grace
- 34:41Speaker 4: Neweki's Grace Weky came into the team and when they
- 34:46Speaker 4: were challenged, they didn't have that history to go back on.
- 34:48Speaker 4: So that's probably my answer. It depends on which team.
- 34:52Speaker 4: If you ask players, players don't care whether you go
- 34:56Speaker 4: through an undefeated season or not. You want to win
- 34:58Speaker 4: every single game ever, go out going, oh, we probably
- 35:01Speaker 4: should lose a game just to if you ask my
- 35:06Speaker 4: poor long suffering husband the two thousand and six season
- 35:09Speaker 4: was the best season of his life because you'd have
- 35:12Speaker 4: to put up with me being an asshole when we lost.
- 35:14Speaker 3: So there you go.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I agree. And the other thing is that
- 35:17Speaker 2: you keep winning, the pressure is building. You get to
- 35:20Speaker 2: a Grand Final, you are the team that all of
- 35:23Speaker 2: the pressure is on to reproduce all of those juries.
- 35:26Speaker 2: So that does I think play a part at that point.
- 35:31Speaker 2: But you're right. I think when you've been playing that
- 35:33Speaker 2: long and you had all those wins, and if the
- 35:35Speaker 2: close wins even better for that pressure stuff, you'd be
- 35:38Speaker 2: definitely happy about those as well. But I also think
- 35:41Speaker 2: those losses it's the opposition handing you a lesson. This
- 35:46Speaker 2: is the area that you went good at, Guys, we
- 35:49Speaker 2: beat you fair and square then, So I think those
- 35:51Speaker 2: losses can be very handy. But I'm not at all
- 35:55Speaker 2: concerned about the Vixens. For instance, they had a win
- 36:01Speaker 2: from the shittest of all positions and challenge they can win.
- 36:06Speaker 2: They have won from every angle.
- 36:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the concern for the Vixens would be
- 36:11Speaker 4: if they had that loss with a full compliment and
- 36:13Speaker 4: they turned up next week and lost again, lost again,
- 36:16Speaker 4: Then you go, Okay, there's something else going on here,
- 36:19Speaker 4: completely different lineup, couple out. You don't know what's going
- 36:23Speaker 4: on in training. You don't know if people have got
- 36:24Speaker 4: to the Sunshine case and gone no, this is a
- 36:26Speaker 4: bit warmer than Melbourne and switch off. And that can
- 36:28Speaker 4: happen in a game in a season as well. So yeah,
- 36:31Speaker 4: it really does. It depends on the team. It depends
- 36:34Speaker 4: on the history of the team and what you've done
- 36:36Speaker 4: together as to whether you need a loss or not.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Well well done.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I have one more quick question for you that I
- 36:42Speaker 1: thought was a good one that a lot of people
- 36:43Speaker 1: will want to have the answers to.
- 36:45Speaker 2: And this one's from another Liz Liz Thomas.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Hi, Liz, I think I've heard that umpires don't find
- 36:50Speaker 1: out which game they're umpiring each week until that same week.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Now you may have heard that from one of our
- 36:55Speaker 1: No Dribble summer series with Rachel As when she had retired. So, Catherine,
- 37:01Speaker 1: how far in advance does the commentary team find out
- 37:03Speaker 1: which game they'll be calling?
- 37:05Speaker 2: Oh, from the start of the year. Oh oh yeah,
- 37:08Speaker 2: we get the schedule sent out really early. It does
- 37:11Speaker 2: change often though, so everybody's kind of got to be
- 37:15Speaker 2: quite fluid. I don't plan things on a weekend typically
- 37:18Speaker 2: during the season, just in case.
- 37:20Speaker 4: Well we know saw it because you're an old lady,
- 37:22Speaker 4: you like sick. Have a cup of tita Saturday night,
- 37:24Speaker 4: that too.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I have requested next Sunday off for a reason. But
- 37:28Speaker 2: other than that, no, we it is all locked in
- 37:31Speaker 2: the diary right at the start of the year. Okay,
- 37:34Speaker 2: thank goodness.
- 37:35Speaker 1: So this was a bit of a change last week though,
- 37:37Speaker 1: because it was decided quite It was decided last Monday
- 37:40Speaker 1: when you were here that you would go to Perth.
- 37:43Speaker 2: So were you.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Meant to be commentating another game last week?
- 37:46Speaker 2: I was mad to be in Brisbane. So this is
- 37:48Speaker 2: the thing with the decision of movement me to Perth
- 37:50Speaker 2: that can only happen if we can fill the gap
- 37:52Speaker 2: that I'll then be leaving in Brisbane. Unfortunately we could.
- 37:57Speaker 2: It did mean that Bianca Chatfield got absolutely so be Chatfield,
- 38:01Speaker 2: You're amazing. She had to do a Brisbane game, then
- 38:03Speaker 2: fly to Adelaide, do the Adelaid game and then host
- 38:05Speaker 2: Pivots straight afterwards, so she had a monster big weekend
- 38:08Speaker 2: would be. Yeah, but you know that's what we do
- 38:12Speaker 2: we pick up the slack where we need to. I've
- 38:14Speaker 2: flown to Adelaide to help her.
- 38:15Speaker 1: I think there was last always last year, and you
- 38:18Speaker 1: had to turn around quite quickly.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Yeah, so to cancel on me.
- 38:22Speaker 1: We were going to go on correct, So it's probably
- 38:26Speaker 1: better fore we go all right, Well, thank you, Liz.
- 38:29Speaker 1: That's a good question. If you have questions for the
- 38:31Speaker 1: goat or the Goala, and in fact Liz did send
- 38:33Speaker 1: a question through for the netting home, which we might
- 38:36Speaker 1: save for another week, send them to info at no
- 38:39Speaker 1: dribble dot com dot au now quickly, while I remember.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Tickets for the Penrith event are still on sale. They'll
- 38:47Speaker 1: be on sale to the twenty ninth they've made. If
- 38:49Speaker 1: you buy your ticket before the twenty second of May, though,
- 38:52Speaker 1: you go into the draw to one win the price
- 38:55Speaker 1: of your ticket back and two win a one hundred
- 38:57Speaker 1: dollars olave out chut. So you would still get to
- 39:00Speaker 1: come along and have the good times with us with
- 39:03Speaker 1: money in your pocket and some sweet merch that you
- 39:07Speaker 1: could pick up at Senior State Titles the next day and.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Feel free to buy us all a drink with that
- 39:12Speaker 2: money back in your pocket.
- 39:13Speaker 1: Could do that Yeah, you could do that anyway, So
- 39:15Speaker 1: do go to Tribooking and get your tickets. It's on
- 39:20Speaker 1: the website too, and I think on Instagram, although I
- 39:23Speaker 1: looked at it the other day and it's like, hang on, Carol,
- 39:25Speaker 1: and where's that link?
- 39:26Speaker 2: So I'll sort that out. Mumble mumble.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Admin, Okay, one quick not dribble recommends before we sign
- 39:32Speaker 1: off for Wednesday, knowing we'll be back on Friday. I
- 39:35Speaker 1: watched Regretting You on Netflix, which is a I'm going
- 39:40Speaker 1: to use a term. Alex our producer. It used to
- 39:43Speaker 1: have a podcast called Screen Queens where she and Beck Charwood,
- 39:46Speaker 1: two comedians, would talk about movies and they would say
- 39:49Speaker 1: something was craptastic. So something like a Lindsay Lohan Christmas movie.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Oh, craptastic. It's crap, but it's fantastic. Yeah what I
- 40:00Speaker 2: think you put the tastic on accidentally on the crap.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Yeah what Lindsay Lowhan Christmas? Have you seen? Have you
- 40:07Speaker 2: seen a Lindsay Lohan Christmas movie?
- 40:08Speaker 1: They are craptastic is the absolute right word for it.
- 40:11Speaker 1: It is a wonderful experience that is in no way
- 40:15Speaker 1: good like it's just so.
- 40:19Speaker 2: But anyway, regretting you. I watched it with my daughter.
- 40:21Speaker 1: It is totally craptastic and I recommend it, And she'd
- 40:25Speaker 1: also look up some back episodes of Screen Queen's two
- 40:29Speaker 1: from our producer Alex. So that's all we've got time
- 40:34Speaker 1: for for Wednesday's episode, But Tootles, Tootles come back soon.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Dribblers come back, like, really sign it. Yeah, I'm Carolyn Swindell,
- 40:45Speaker 1: I'm Liz Allis.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Bye,
