- 0:00All right, hey, new pod back in the studio.

- 0:20Anything on there? Awesome.
- 0:24I'm running the sacrifice LS pass pack 20%.
- 0:28That's a huge discount team BD, but we got some stuff to touch
- 0:32on. Let's see here.
- 0:37I went to Mexico, shot a deer. The videos out so people can go
- 0:41watch that on boatdisciples.com on the YouTube.
- 0:45I mean good video, really good video, fun hunt, good times.
- 0:51You went and shot your bow for the first time in ages.
- 0:56Eons. Yeah, it needs some some work.
- 1:00Yeah, but you shot pretty well. I mean, yeah, got some
- 1:02adjustments to do and we got a hunt coming up.
- 1:04But you're also in the midst of starting a new arrow building
- 1:09series where yesterday for the first time you used your mod saw
- 1:13to cut 3 arrows and you did one complete build.
- 1:17So you built one victory vap SSI think a RIP at RIP s s 200 spine
- 1:26with three boning Blazers 2 paint 1 yellow with the boat
- 1:31disciples logo. Get them on boatdisciples.com
- 1:34and 100 grain tip Total weight was what 540?
- 1:40.2. 540.2 But how was that experience using the mod saw,
- 1:46using the bits and burger, using the glue, all that stuff to
- 1:50build those arrows. Mod saw easiest tool in the
- 1:54world, go drop $200 everybody and purchase one for yourself
- 2:00and start building your own arrows because that is such an
- 2:03easy tool to have in such AI mean yeah, I guess you two $200
- 2:11sounds like, you know, a little chunk of change, but it's so
- 2:16worth it. Like I I feel like it they could
- 2:19charge more, you know, for how good of a tool it is and how
- 2:25well thought out it is and everything that it includes, you
- 2:30know, all of the the components that are well made that aren't
- 2:35going to wear down being able to have your you know, I guess I
- 2:39call it the wobble detector and everything.
- 2:44It's just you can't say better words for a mod saw.
- 2:47And that's the deluxe one. They do have a slightly cheaper
- 2:50version, the premium I think, I don't remember, but if you want
- 2:55to spend just a little bit less, but overall that super easy.
- 3:01The bits and burger. I mean, yeah, if you're not
- 3:04trying to tweak it and get like a heavy offset or, you know, a
- 3:09heavy helical or anything, it's a it's fine, it's fine.
- 3:16I'd say the magnet things like a little clunky because like if
- 3:19you go to clean your your glue, you could you got to be careful
- 3:22not to bump that while you know, you're pressing down because you
- 3:26need to continue to hold pressure to to push the fletch
- 3:32down onto the the shaft. But otherwise not too hard to
- 3:37use. I would be very interested in
- 3:40trying the OMP down the road just because from what I've been
- 3:45told now is, you know, a lot of things in archery have advanced
- 3:52so far in the technology from the, you know, the technology
- 3:56that Bose have the micro adjusts you can do.
- 3:58And not only sites now, but rests even have micro adjusts.
- 4:02Like how often do you think about moving your rest?
- 4:05And it's like, I think I can move that 116th of an inch.
- 4:08Let me, you know, go turn this little knob.
- 4:11You could do it on rests now, even like there's so much little
- 4:13technology and but the detail in that technology is what's
- 4:19important and the bits and burger just lacks that.
- 4:22Like you crack a set screw to change your offset and then it's
- 4:26like there's no clicks to know how many you've turned it like
- 4:31you just I there's not even the lines.
- 4:33You know, there's one line and one line.
- 4:34You line them up in that center past that you're eyeballing it.
- 4:39So like, say I do my arrows and I have, you know, center on
- 4:43Center for both of those knobs and then I go to do yours.
- 4:50You would want a whole nother bits and burger because once I
- 4:55adjust those or or say mine's not center on center, say it's a
- 5:00little off, you know, so like your lines don't line up.
- 5:04If I go to then do your arrows and it's different.
- 5:08There's no way to eyeball it to perfect or exactly what I had
- 5:12before on my last set of arrows. You see what I mean?
- 5:17So you would always, you could potentially always build your,
- 5:20your, your flex, your offset just slightly different every
- 5:24time. I think there could be some more
- 5:27detail integrated into that product.
- 5:31I think at archery has advanced enough and I think the OMP from
- 5:35what I've heard has more of that detail.
- 5:39So that'd be something I'd be interested in trying.
- 5:42Just don't want to spend the money for it.
- 5:44So, but gluing super easy, that bone and glue true to its form
- 5:52dried in, you know, less than 90 seconds for the inserts.
- 5:58And yeah, overall easy, easy process.
- 6:02I'm excited now that I've practiced with your arrows to go
- 6:07and build. The whole reason I'm doing this
- 6:09is they're not making my arrow anymore.
- 6:13So I got AI got to pick a new one.
- 6:16And with that comes the option to just experiment.
- 6:18So, you know, try some different fox out, some different maybe
- 6:22weighted inserts with 100 instead of 125 grain broadhead.
- 6:29You know, you can also put weights in the back, which I
- 6:31don't think I'll need, but going to build two different setups
- 6:35with two different arrows brand or not brands, but types, I
- 6:41guess. And then just do some
- 6:44penetration tests, see what what I like better, what I feel flies
- 6:48better and run that for Arizona. And I got about 2 1/2 weeks to
- 6:56to get her done. So that'll be the next.
- 6:57I think this video is just kind of like me showing you the new
- 7:01tools and practicing on your arrows.
- 7:03This next video will be the actual build of the two
- 7:06different types. A little more detail in that,
- 7:11but overall very fun. I don't know if I'll say that
- 7:15after I'm on like my 12th Arrow, my 36th fletch.
- 7:19I might get bored, but you know, it's right there next to the TV
- 7:24so I can watch my show at the same time.
- 7:28But yeah, it'll be good. Maybe one day I'll venture into
- 7:31like time my own D loops and stuff, but for now or just start
- 7:36with fletches. Very good.
- 7:40Yeah. I'm excited that you're doing
- 7:42it. I know you've always had a
- 7:43little bit of interest. I mean, you and your sister
- 7:45being twins are, you know, very tied to the hip and I, she's
- 7:50kind of always done that. So I I know that it was
- 7:52something you've been wanting to do a bit and I think it's cool.
- 7:56You got a very aesthetic setup. I think it's good content.
- 7:59And I think it's also, you know, the video, the first video we
- 8:03filmed, which I'll edit this week, is interesting because
- 8:08it's as beginner and novice as you can get.
- 8:10Like you have never done it and you're learning how to do it on
- 8:13tape. And I think that's pretty cool.
- 8:15That's you. Yeah.
- 8:16And it shows people that you, you don't need to be as nervous
- 8:20as you feel about maybe building your own arrows.
- 8:26Like that was literally my first take it I built arrows like one
- 8:32time in my life like 7 years ago when I or I thought almost 10
- 8:36now I guess when I first picked up a bow.
- 8:39After that I never built arrows again.
- 8:42And I think especially if you're like you have a hint of OCD in
- 8:46you, it's so nice to take control of your build because if
- 8:52something does go wrong, like you lose fletches, they fly off
- 8:56or inserts pop out or whatever, it's on you.
- 8:59So then figure out, you know, maybe try a different glue or a
- 9:02different method for inserting your inserter the way you wrap
- 9:06the glue around or whatever. But you become in charge of your
- 9:11own build, you know, and can try different things.
- 9:16And it's so easy then like instead of getting charged to
- 9:18take your arrows to the the bow shop, I'm not saying like take
- 9:22all your work away from a bow shop.
- 9:23Like, you know, don't start working on your own bow if you
- 9:26have no idea what you're doing. But for arrows, like it's so
- 9:30easy to just like strip those fletches off a little harder if
- 9:34you run wraps, but so easy to strip those fletches off and
- 9:38just try a new, you know, OK, maybe I'll try a little bit of a
- 9:42helical this time. See if, you know, I feel like
- 9:46they fly different. Go sit down for a couple hours
- 9:49and strip your flashes off and glue some new ones on and try
- 9:53different, you know, set up so easy so why not do it and then
- 9:59you get to see somebody IE myself, do it for the first
- 10:03time. I did glue flesh upside down
- 10:04much that was funny, but it show it goes to show that like if you
- 10:12just watch that video, it'll walk you through an arrow build
- 10:16from beginning to end without all the added.
- 10:19Like, yeah, we cut this off of our flat our our jig.
- 10:24And you know, we thought it didn't lay flat enough.
- 10:28And you know, we did this to it and added a knob down.
- 10:31It's like, no, it's not all that extra stuff.
- 10:34Like it starts from the beginning for the beginner, you
- 10:39know, like if you just need to build a standard arrow and you
- 10:43have no idea where to start, this will cover it for you.
- 10:46I think that's good because sometimes you go out there to
- 10:48research like I did. And it was like this video was
- 10:51extraordinarily unhelpful, did not teach me anything about from
- 10:56like if I knew nothing about a Bitzenberger how to use it.
- 11:01So there are a lot of benefits, I think, to this video, but
- 11:05it'll be a series that you know, will grow with time as I learn.
- 11:11Yeah, I think, like I said, I think it's really good for you
- 11:14and and the audience, but I also think that just watching and
- 11:18being there filming, I like to be the filmer.
- 11:22I like filming So and I I was learning as well by watching and
- 11:26listening. But I will say about the mod
- 11:29saw, I really like how small it is.
- 11:32It doesn't take up a lot. It doesn't take up a lot of
- 11:35space. And I also like that it has a
- 11:37lot of different tools integrated into it without
- 11:41taking U more than I mean, lengthwise it takes U space, but
- 11:44widthwise is probably only like maybe 4 inches wide, so not very
- 11:48BIG4 inches. So yeah, I don't know.
- 11:53I thought that was great. I think it's very exciting.
- 11:55We should have the mod saws on bodisciples.com so you can get
- 11:59one there and and also pick up veins while you're there and
- 12:03HLRS, you can get victories on there as well.
- 12:05You could buy your whole aero kit including broadheads all on
- 12:10the website, which is really cool.
- 12:12And then? But they're also mobile.
- 12:15That's The thing is like you don't have to screw it into a
- 12:19table. If maybe you have like, I'm
- 12:21going to order a cuz I forgot to do it yesterday.
- 12:23Dang it. A computer mat helps it from
- 12:26sliding around. You know, I screwed it into the
- 12:29table. But so easy to back those two
- 12:31screws out. And like, if you're going on
- 12:33like we're about to disappear for this hunt for three weeks
- 12:36and or say, remember, you know, Arizona, New Mexico, you can cut
- 12:43that if you want. But when we needed arrows for
- 12:48somebody like you could save money if you're just bringing
- 12:53your own, like, you know, pre fletched, uncut, whatever.
- 12:57If you needed to build arrows out in the field, the thing
- 13:00weighs next to nothing. And I have seen people, which I
- 13:04think is pretty cool, where they create like mounts for like
- 13:06mobile shops onto the back of their truck.
- 13:10But even if you don't mount it to anything, like you can
- 13:12literally throw that thing in a box that it comes in and bring
- 13:15it with you and cut your arrows out in the field if you needed
- 13:20to. Like it's just it's the easiest
- 13:25tool. Yeah, it's great.
- 13:27So yeah, super fun. Excited about that.
- 13:30And you know, obviously, oh man, I get indoor prep, all the
- 13:36different stuff. Got a hunt coming up here in a
- 13:38couple of weeks. And I did want to mention too on
- 13:40this podcast that we have learned that we're going to
- 13:44Hawaii actually. And the dates are it's in July,
- 13:50I believe it's the, let me see here.
- 13:53It's July 13th through the 17th is 1 hunt or July 20th through
- 13:5924th. We're going to be hunting a
- 14:02really cool property loaded with axis deer and we're really
- 14:05excited to go fling some arrows. I guess there's tons of deer.
- 14:09So lots and lots of arrows should be flung down range.
- 14:12It should be fun, but we're going just to camp when other
- 14:17people are going to be camping, right and and hunting, staying
- 14:21at the lodge and hunting. So we'll be kind of share and
- 14:23hunt with others. And so if you're interested in
- 14:26going on that hunt, it will sell out.
- 14:31The website is hooves hornshideaways.com and I'll put
- 14:36that right here. On That's mouthful.
- 14:38Hooveshornshideaways.com Very exciting, so never.
- 14:44Say how much the hunt is on that little flyer thing.
- 14:47I thought it did. Would you like me to look?
- 14:50Yeah, don't you? I thought you were staring at
- 14:52the flyer. That's why.
- 14:53I I was, but there's multiple Flyers, but would you like me to
- 14:58look? Yes.
- 14:59OK, let me. Yes, I would.
- 15:00She would like me to look folks, so I will look.
- 15:07I'm scrolling. Here we go, five day hunt is
- 15:123500 per hunter, 50% down to hold the spot.
- 15:16So there you go, $1.00 and unlimited doze.
- 15:19Jeez, Martha. So there you go.
- 15:21It's should be pretty sick so if you want to go.
- 15:24I feel like that is an insane deal.
- 15:27Yeah, there you go. So hooves, horns, hideaways.
- 15:29I'm excited. Never have haunted access deer.
- 15:32Brianna's been friggin so annoying about axis deer for
- 15:37like 3 or 4 years. Just so annoying.
- 15:40But we're finally going, so that'll be fun.
- 15:42I love Hawaii, you know what I'm saying?
- 15:45New Island. Then we were at goat hunting,
- 15:48but I would love to goat hunt again.
- 15:49So I'm going to see maybe if the schedule would work to do that
- 15:52after because I really like that public land hustle.
- 15:56OTC bro, I love that hardship you know?
- 16:02Well, that's why I'm not going to go get a axis on a high fence
- 16:05in Texas. I could go do that, sure.
- 16:07And it made thoughts the same as, you know, this hunt does.
- 16:14Or I could go to where the axis live and go hunt them there.
- 16:22You know, I just like keeping it as realistic as possible to the
- 16:29where the animal like originates from, you know, I'm not saying
- 16:34there's anything. They're invasive in Hawaii too.
- 16:36They're not like. Oh sure, sure, but they're not
- 16:38high fence pens in. Hawaii is an island, so it's
- 16:42basically the same thing. Here's the thing.
- 16:44An island, It's an island. It's not somebody's property.
- 16:50Like, yeah. But those properties in Texas
- 16:51are huge. Like here's the.
- 16:53Thing they're not as big as the island.
- 16:55You'd be surprised. Bro.
- 16:57Some of them are very, very large.
- 16:58Here's the thing, high fence hunting, depending.
- 17:02I mean obviously if the place is 3 acres, it might be a little
- 17:04bit different. But like bow hunting, a place
- 17:07that's high fence makes no difference in how hard the hunt
- 17:10is because it's like you have to get within 50 yards anyways.
- 17:15So like what difference does it make if the place is 1000 acres
- 17:19but it's high fence? Like I don't really get it.
- 17:22Because I've watched it was between I've literally watched
- 17:27videos of people get out of the truck or side by side that
- 17:32they've pulled up a right next to the animal while it's feeding
- 17:36from a feeder. Look at the people go back to
- 17:40feeding and then they just shoot it.
- 17:41I have not seen this, but I also don't watch a ton of hunting
- 17:44anymore. But yeah I don't know.
- 17:46I think that it's important as hunters.
- 17:48I always say this too, as long as people are doing things
- 17:51legally and ethically, I think it's important to support all
- 17:53hunters because we need strength in numbers.
- 17:55So for me to like point fingers at others because like they're
- 17:59not as hard as me, which like oftentimes we don't even know
- 18:02about other people. Like we're just making stuff up.
- 18:04So I think it's important to be supportive and, and, and push
- 18:08the sport forward. You know, that's why we make the
- 18:10content in the 1st place is to get more people shooting bows
- 18:14and they're like, you know, pigeonhole people.
- 18:16I I think is doing the opposite of that, you know, so just
- 18:20important, but nonetheless, this hunt will be a great opportunity
- 18:23to vibe with others. You know what I'm saying?
- 18:25Which I'm I'm excited, but you better get us a light fast arrow
- 18:29because those they are supposed to be the best string jumpers,
- 18:34like as good as Impalas I'm. Pretty sure I'm going to aim
- 18:37like 3 inches below. Its stomach because they.
- 18:41As slow as my bow is. Right, because they're natural
- 18:43predators were like cheetahs or something.
- 18:45So they're really used to they're having to avoid.
- 18:50Very. Skittish.
- 18:51Very skittish. Yeah, just like Impalas.
- 18:53I mean an Impala whet tail too. I mean very skittish.
- 18:56But I've I've heard axes are like.
- 18:59Unbelievable. As the time comes, as we get
- 19:01closer, I think you know, this Arrow series will go on and off
- 19:05and on and off as I I need different setups and whatnot.
- 19:09I've never been a fan of or had the need to change my setup, but
- 19:15for something like this, I think it's going to be a great test
- 19:18for granted, you know, not the majority of people watching the
- 19:22videos have my type of setup that are, you know, 5 foot one
- 19:26with small arm spans and 24 1/2 inch draws and 50 lbs.
- 19:30You know, but for those that do, I think it's very intriguing or
- 19:38it will be intriguing to build some arrows and test like maybe
- 19:423 different setups of like how low can you go to that's within
- 19:47the safe bounds of shooting to pick up speed, but still get
- 19:57enough quality penetration that like, I'm not worried about, you
- 20:03know? Bouncing off the deer, not
- 20:06saying it would actually bounce off the deer, but like, you
- 20:09know, you need to get a decent amount at least, and with that
- 20:13comes like you better not shoulder punch them at that
- 20:16point, because I didn't that setup is not built for that.
- 20:21I mean even the setups I run now are not built to make it
- 20:24through. I just don't have the the
- 20:27poundage for the speed, you know, to make it through the
- 20:33shoulder. Yeah.
- 20:34And I mean I think 1. Of I have to have the most
- 20:36perfect like shot to make that happen.
- 20:41Well, I think one of the keys to on is to get, you know, probably
- 20:44as close as possible, really hone in the stocking skills.
- 20:47For sure. Some people would argue it's
- 20:49better to shoot from further, which there's some validity to.
- 20:53I mean, your bow's going to be quieter because you're further
- 20:55away, but ultimately, I think, you know, you want to get as
- 20:59tight as possible and that's going to help your arrow get
- 21:01there quicker, which is which is good.
- 21:04So yeah, anyway, really excited to go back to the island.
- 21:08You know, I'll probably watch Moana a couple times before we
- 21:11go just to get fired up. And I want to go to a luau, you
- 21:15know? Now there's a lot of those.
- 21:17So I I love it. And yeah, really excited for it.
- 21:20So hooveshornshideaways.com for the information.
- 21:24Mark Liva say my guy. I can't wait to meet.
- 21:27Mark Liversay going to be there. If you don't know who he is, go
- 21:30check out as he does a podcast on peaks YouTube weekly, I
- 21:35believe called I think it's called Thrive.
- 21:37But Mark is a genius, especially at eats E scouting and a
- 21:41legendary guy. We had a great time together.
- 21:43We had a lot of what he calls Bluebirds.
- 21:46He calls them Bluebirds, which is a Tecate Light.
- 21:49We had a lot of Tecate Light 40s.
- 21:51Man, I miss it In Mexico. We were fishing, catching
- 21:55friggin lunkers and just having Bluebirds.
- 21:58It was amazing. So I'm excited to see Mark.
- 22:01So you get to hang out with me, Brianna and Mark and and the
- 22:04other guests as well. And, and yeah, it's going to be
- 22:08super fun. So other than that, man, there's
- 22:12a lot of things we're excited about.
- 22:13We just got a new Kawasaki Crew Cab.
- 22:16We're kind of reunited with the Crew Cab.
- 22:19So it man, what a what a rig. So I just love that thing.
- 22:24And then you had fun on the E bike.
- 22:26The little E bike. Oh yeah, I want one of those
- 22:28things. Yeah.
- 22:29I don't really know where I'll ride it, but I want one.
- 22:31That's fun, yeah. What about the quad?
- 22:33Did you like the quad? Yeah, I mean quads are quads
- 22:39like not as fun as the E bike but we just don't hunt and likes
- 22:45like terrain where the trails get small enough to need a quad,
- 22:50you know the side by side gets everywhere just fine.
- 22:54And every once in a while I got to whip out the winch to move a
- 22:56tree out of the way or something.
- 22:57Yeah, yeah, yeah, it is nice to. Have they have the winch?
- 23:01You know, they're just strong, strong vehicles.
- 23:04It really is. Especially the 4 door 1 is
- 23:06basically like a vehicle. So much room in that thing.
- 23:10It is so pleasant to sit in that back seat and have all the room
- 23:14in the world and oh, it's just so nice.
- 23:18I just love the boat. I love the folks at Kawasaki.
- 23:21They're so nice. I love going up there.
- 23:23It was your first time. What did you think of the tour
- 23:26in their museum? It's right.
- 23:27I like that kind of how she explained like the museum is.
- 23:33And as she told you guys, she didn't mention it while I was
- 23:35there, but she had told you on the last one that they don't
- 23:38like there's not like public tours that like people, you
- 23:42know, come in and you know, walk through like they're walking
- 23:46through the Smithsonian. It's kind of solely off of like
- 23:50if they have special events or like a private thing going on or
- 23:54what not. So like, I think before we came,
- 23:56they had Kawasaki like poster signings from some of their
- 24:01their signed writers. So then you get to come and see
- 24:05the museum and, you know, get your signature and what not.
- 24:09So when they host things like that or what not, but it's cool
- 24:14because they have this whole like private museum, but yet
- 24:19they take so much care in it that like they have a whole
- 24:21separate storage facility within the building that holds more
- 24:25stuff. So like say like when Top Gun
- 24:28came out, they switched over. You know, they have a curator
- 24:32literally on staff who solely manages this museum that like
- 24:37when Top Gun came out, they're like, we need to build this
- 24:40museum set up for the movie. And so he comes in and designs
- 24:47it and picks out the pieces that they have in storage and how
- 24:51it's going to lay out and what the signage will look like, what
- 24:54they're going to tell you. And so it's cool that they take
- 24:58so much pride in it that, you know, it doesn't just sit there
- 25:01and collect dust. And the museum never changes.
- 25:03You know, they change out the exhibits within it, you know,
- 25:07just based on what, you know, what's going on in the world of
- 25:12Kawasaki. So that was really cool.
- 25:14And then their coffee machine is also fantastic.
- 25:17And the fact that they have massage chairs for their
- 25:20employees is really fantastic. The whole kitchen that they had
- 25:24with like it was like a cafeteria, but with really nice
- 25:27food. Just I mean, it is their, it's
- 25:30their US headquarters, right? So, you know, there's a lot of
- 25:34people staff there. You don't even see as you're
- 25:37there, but they're everywhere. And so it was overall, they're
- 25:43just so kind like they're like, you want to borrow this like for
- 25:46that or you want to film like something for this or you want
- 25:49to go ride out and you know, the sand dunes or whatever.
- 25:53We'll, we'll set up a date, go out with a rig and they're just
- 25:58fun, relaxed people, which is cool on top of the fact that
- 26:01like you can reach out to them anytime and like they're going
- 26:04to pick up the phone or respond to you.
- 26:06Like we, you know, got a hole in the tire in August and they're
- 26:13on top of it. Like you found the place that
- 26:16carries the brands to be able to get the tire replaced.
- 26:19They set up for you know it to be done in you to get
- 26:23reimbursed. What the the coolest tire of all
- 26:26time? But it's called the buck Snort.
- 26:28I love my buck. The guy was concerned too when
- 26:31he told me about it, and I was like, Oh no, you go ahead and
- 26:35put that tire on, buddy. I love it.
- 26:38Yeah, I still haven't gotten. I meant to do it while we were
- 26:42on that hunt. I wanted to get a picture of
- 26:46like, because it rained so much, the mud with the track.
- 26:50So maybe. We have a shot at this next
- 26:53hunt, but yeah, I love that tire.
- 26:55Yeah, just school, company and feel.
- 26:57Really. I don't know.
- 26:59It's crazy to even be on the team.
- 27:00Like, it seems like something that wouldn't have been real.
- 27:03If you told me that two years ago, there's no way I would have
- 27:05believed it, you know what I'm saying?
- 27:06So it's really, really cool. And that's the case with like
- 27:09all the sponsors pretty much. I wouldn't have believed any of
- 27:12them. So really cool.
- 27:14And man, we just got a lot of fun stuff coming up that the
- 27:17people are going to love. I think the viewers of the Bo
- 27:19Disciples channel and the podcast were really like, we did
- 27:22good this year. We did a lot of them.
- 27:23We didn't miss too many weeks. We did really well.
- 27:26But next year, like I really want to try.
- 27:27I'm sure we'll miss a couple. It's harder.
- 27:31It's harder with the travel schedule, I think to be weekly
- 27:33on podcast than it is on videos. But I really want to do our best
- 27:37to hit every single week all year.
- 27:38So we'll see how we do. But we're also going to do more
- 27:41uploads next year of full length videos.
- 27:44And that's a lot because this year we're going to have done, I
- 27:47want to say 76 or 77 full length videos.
- 27:51And next year I'd love to do 100.
- 27:53So that's a lot of output plus a podcast a week, plus I want to
- 27:59do like 3 shorts a day all year. So it's just a lot of output.
- 28:03But I always say that it's really cool when you set output
- 28:06goals because that makes it pushes us as the people who
- 28:11create the content to go do stuff that we wouldn't have done
- 28:14otherwise. That and it's like when we're
- 28:16there, we love it. Whether that be more tax, more
- 28:19tournaments, more hunts, you know, we're seeing our good
- 28:22Canadian friend Rebecca, and we probably would have seen her
- 28:26either way, but we figured why not lump in some videos that
- 28:29people will like and they'll be informative and fun to watch and
- 28:33blah, blah, blah. It just adds extra elements to
- 28:36life, you know what I'm saying? And I really like that.
- 28:39Road to Vegas, Road to Vegas, same thing.
- 28:41Like, you know, that would have probably been one video of me at
- 28:45the tournament. Now it's going to be a whole
- 28:46series of leading up, my nutrition, my training, my
- 28:50shooting, you know, all that stuff.
- 28:52Your arrow building could easily just been one video.
- 28:55Instead, it shows start to finish being a total noob who
- 28:58puts a vein on backwards to maybe one day an expert, you
- 29:02know what I'm saying? And the whole thing will be
- 29:04documented. So other people, guys or gals,
- 29:07if they're interested in learning, can watch someone
- 29:09learn from the ground up. So I'm just really excited for
- 29:14this year and filming so much, banging out so much, and the
- 29:18support's been insane. Like the podcast has done well.
- 29:21And be sure, be sure to subscribe to the podcast
- 29:24channel. I think way more people watch
- 29:26than are subscribed. We're about 2000 subscribers,
- 29:29but we would love to be more. And most importantly, if you
- 29:32listen on Spotify or Apple, which is where most people, I
- 29:35think listen to a podcast, be sure to drop 5 stars.
- 29:39It's so simple, really helps the podcast get found.
- 29:42And because that that's going to help incentivize us and be
- 29:46jacked up to, you know, create more of them.
- 29:49And, and I just looked through our Spotify wrapped.
- 29:52I'll have to show you after this, but it's really cool.
- 29:55I think we were like 30 people's top podcast or something, The
- 29:59top one they listen to and we're listen to what a bunch of
- 30:02countries, like really cool stuff.
- 30:03So be sure, five stars and we'll keep banging them out.
- 30:07Yeah, Well, I think it's a it's funny how, you know, as you've
- 30:12evolved through this channel, it's, you know, it's taken many
- 30:16route that you, you know, thought about wanting to take it
- 30:20and whatnot. And sometimes there are some
- 30:22wild sides and sometimes there's more.
- 30:25Like, you know, you, like you said, you don't really watch a
- 30:28lot of hunting stuff. And, and often when you watch
- 30:34those channels, like you don't really like know, I guess the
- 30:40person, you know, like you're just watching a hunt and then
- 30:45you're watching their Turkey hunt and then you're watching
- 30:48their moose hunt and then you know, like, that's really it.
- 30:54And I think it's funny because there was a point in which you
- 30:57kind of wanted more of and you like this type of content more
- 31:00on YouTube. The like the lifestyle channels,
- 31:03I call them like the guy we just watched do the 50 States and 50.
- 31:07Days. Ryan Trahan and channels like
- 31:12that that, you know, we call lifestyle channels.
- 31:18But really I think you're 1 of like one in our treat that is a
- 31:25lifestyle channel. It's just an archery lifestyle
- 31:28channel. And I think that's very neat
- 31:31because it does give the viewer options.
- 31:35You know, like you may be interested in learning how to
- 31:39have a lean hunt, or you may be interested in figuring out how
- 31:43to shoot, you know, indoor tournaments, or you may just
- 31:47want to know about a specific tack that you've never been to.
- 31:53And on top of that, throughout the video, as you're watching,
- 31:57whether you're wanting this category or that or that of
- 32:00archery, which you cover all of, they also still get to know you
- 32:06and the happy fun bunch because we don't just focus on the hunt
- 32:12or the 3D shoot. Like there's always stuff in
- 32:16those videos of like, you know, whether we were hanging out in
- 32:20the the vendor village or, you know, a dinner or, you know,
- 32:26getting on and off the planes, Like there's always just little
- 32:30facets in there that you get to meet more of the character of
- 32:35the person than just what the title of the video is.
- 32:41Yeah, I think that's really well said and yeah, I don't know.
- 32:46I, I think you're right. I think that one thing that's
- 32:49really cool about our channel is that it's all archery.
- 32:54There's never a video without a bow in it, like almost never.
- 32:58Maybe one a year where it's something else, but pretty much
- 33:01all archery. But at the same time, it's so
- 33:04diverse in what it is archery wise.
- 33:06To your point, and I mean it's kind of funny because I think a
- 33:09lot of people forget that we do do a lot of bow hunting as well,
- 33:14but because we post so much that like you might not see hunts as
- 33:19much, but like I counted on the channel this year, there's 12
- 33:21successful hunts just this year on.
- 33:24And not just the successful that's, you know, that's.
- 33:27Just that's just this year, I'm like, well, most channels have
- 33:31not done 12 successful hunts, but it almost seems like we
- 33:34don't hunt because we're doing so many other things.
- 33:36But I think that's a beautiful thing.
- 33:38And I totally agree. I mean, I would love one day to
- 33:41do like a daily series, which we actually did early on in the
- 33:44channel, like five years ago. I would literally put out a
- 33:46video every single day on like a three-week hunt.
- 33:50Every day we'd do a video. And then that's why I'm excited
- 33:55for I would. Love to like we have an idea
- 33:57later in the year to do like a road trip and and took me a
- 34:00while to get on board with this but I think I like the plan.
- 34:03Yeah, I'd say I had an idea you were semi unpleased with it,
- 34:08then with further explanation saw the benefits to it.
- 34:12Right, but what I like about this idea is it would be a
- 34:15relatively long trip, like probably a month, 3 weeks.
- 34:18To it would be about a month, yeah.
- 34:19About a month, but I was telling you I was like, I think if we do
- 34:23that plan, I believe I can do 3 uploads a week the whole time
- 34:30and that would be fantastic. Like I've always loved the idea
- 34:35of a daily vlog series. Daily is really, really tough
- 34:39because it's hard to make it entertaining I suppose.
- 34:41But I think on a trip like that three times a week is definitely
- 34:44plausible. And I think each video would be
- 34:46really fun, really good. And I think people would just, I
- 34:51think when something's a series, people get like amped up for the
- 34:53next 1, you know what I'm saying?
- 34:55That's the special part about a series like a Road to Vegas or a
- 34:58Arrow series or or the Road Trip series or even a Hunt series.
- 35:02So. Well, and when you're travelling
- 35:04across literally across the country, there's so much to
- 35:10choose from, you know, like the amount of people that you've met
- 35:13throughout the years that live, you know, between here and the
- 35:17other side of the country. It's like it's so easy to stop,
- 35:21you know, at, at this person's house and film this and then
- 35:24stop here and film this podcast and then stop here and do this
- 35:28shoe and then visit this archery shop And you know, there's just,
- 35:33you know, or, or meet new people and do a podcast with them.
- 35:37There's just so much that you can do when you're traveling, so
- 35:42long as you know the schedule is really, it's going to take some
- 35:46planning. Yeah, you just got to get it
- 35:48really refined and then obviously like when you're
- 35:50scheduling a road trip, you got a schedule like in the path of
- 35:54travel and on the way back. So really cool.
- 35:58It might be kind of cool to like drive one way there and then
- 36:00like a different way back that we could hit like different, you
- 36:03know, stuff. But yeah, that'll be awesome.
- 36:05I think that is something we should probably do.
- 36:07I'm I'm pretty on board with it and obviously I just think it'll
- 36:13be a big year. I mean, 2025 was huge.
- 36:16I think 2024 was like our first like really breakout big year
- 36:21about 25, I think you could argue has been even even bigger
- 36:26and it's been really good. And 26, I think is just going to
- 36:30be next level because when we first, when you first, when we
- 36:35first met each other, 2021 end of 2021, I had already been
- 36:41going on the channel for three years, but it had been a lot of
- 36:45tons of output, always had a lot of output.
- 36:47But I was still doing real estate full time.
- 36:51You were still in the Navy, right?
- 36:53And then it took you a long time to sort of get me to commit to
- 36:56trying to do like this is what I'm going to do for, for, you
- 37:00know, income for a life. This is like I'm going to commit
- 37:03to doing this full time. You convinced me to do that.
- 37:06And then once we, I did it, then you shortly left the Navy.
- 37:10So, so both of us now we're doing it and that's a lot to
- 37:12bite off. But I think the fact that we
- 37:15took the leap to do it really changed everything.
- 37:19It changed everything because now we can go do stuff that like
- 37:24if you're working a job, you just if I had to go show houses
- 37:27or something, you can't do it. Yeah.
- 37:29Or just simply like, sure, yeah, as you saw, like when we, I
- 37:33filmed the thing with Brittany and I went by myself and we
- 37:36filmed the game. Like, yeah, can you do it by
- 37:39yourself? Sure, it's possible.
- 37:42And you can get creative and people do a lot of work into it.
- 37:45And I'm not saying you can't be successful doing it.
- 37:48It just takes a lot of effort. And kudos to them for doing it.
- 37:53But like, you just get that standard still tripod, you know,
- 37:59takes putting multiple cameras up from different angles to film
- 38:02by yourself and get like more variety and, and what the output
- 38:06then looks like. But with two people, it's so
- 38:11much easier to be like you're filming today or, you know,
- 38:16you're able to pass the camera back and forth.
- 38:19And so had I gotten out and said, OK, well, you know, we'll
- 38:23push off, you know, me maybe working with you for a while
- 38:29longer and I'll get a job. And then this growth, that's
- 38:34continued to happen. The growth.
- 38:36Yeah, exactly. Like you kind of just literally
- 38:38throw yourself off the deep end and you have forced yourself
- 38:41into having to make it work. And you have to keep running,
- 38:44you know, it's like you either keep running or it doesn't work.
- 38:47You're absolutely right. And in California, you can't
- 38:49stop running. Right, which I think is good.
- 38:51I mean, you know, I mean it, it's been really fun and I want
- 38:56to touch on self filming a little bit because I've done it
- 38:58a lot in my life. When I was a bike rider as well
- 39:03as when I got into archery, I'd done a lot of self filming and I
- 39:09do. It is nice to have, you know,
- 39:11people hold the camera. But it was actually kind of fun
- 39:13because the Mexico video that just came out, I did sell film
- 39:16the whole thing, right? And but there's a art to it,
- 39:20right? Like when I you got it.
- 39:21It just takes time to learn how to do it, where to stand, where
- 39:24to set up, where to put the. It's like a lot.
- 39:27I end to be comfortable with it, not just in like a awkward
- 39:30sense, but in like inability sounds.
- 39:33Yeah, exactly. I cannot stand sitting in a
- 39:36blind knowing that like it's a waste of time for you to sit in
- 39:40the blind. But be I don't know what it is,
- 39:43but like being a lefty. But yeah, I'm still
- 39:45right-handed. So like I need the camera on my
- 39:49left side, but to operate it, it's very uncomfortable for me
- 39:53to reach, which is the close arm with my left arm, but it's not
- 39:56the arm I do anything with other than shoot my bow.
- 40:00So I'm constantly like reaching this direction and then I got to
- 40:04reach either like this or like this, both very strange to get
- 40:07to the on off switch. And set up the angle.
- 40:12It's just it's it's hard to film, especially out of the
- 40:15blind on a camera and a tripod and especially if you are not
- 40:19comfortable with it. And haven't had the reps of
- 40:22doing it so many times like because.
- 40:24You know, I've gotten a point where I just turn it on.
- 40:26Like if I just hear a sound, oh I do the sound, I just turn the
- 40:28thing on. I'll sit there for like 5
- 40:30minutes listening to the sound like OK, nothing's coming.
- 40:32Then I finally turn it off. You got a 5 minute clip wasted
- 40:35on the camera of nothing. But it's, you know, sometimes
- 40:38it's just what you have to do, like.
- 40:40Right. I mean, but the Mexico video, I
- 40:46really, it was funny because a lot of times like when you film
- 40:49something you're like, I don't know if there's really like the
- 40:52best. I don't know if I filmed enough
- 40:55like Storyline. I don't know if I filmed enough
- 40:57of this. But then like when I put that
- 40:59sucker together, I was like, it was one of the better hunting
- 41:01videos I've made. Like it was really good.
- 41:04The storyline's good. It's some some funny stuff.
- 41:07There's animal footage. The shop footage is really good.
- 41:10Like it ended up being so well-rounded.
- 41:13But to your point, for me, it was a little bit like riding a
- 41:15bike, even though I haven't self filmed in a while, it was like I
- 41:18was comfortable doing it because I've done it before, but this
- 41:20time I added a second camera like which I hadn't done and
- 41:24just different things. And one thing for you too is if
- 41:28you're filming with the camcorder, which by the way,
- 41:31much better for filming hunts, no question about it, much
- 41:34better for filming hunts. But because you're sitting here
- 41:38to shoot and the cameras over here, that screen only opens
- 41:41away from you, so you can't really see it unless.
- 41:44I literally cannot. Whereas I'm right-handed, so I
- 41:47have the Tricer right here and I can see the screen and then my
- 41:51other camera I just basically punch and play.
- 41:53So it is tougher. You'd need one of those cameras
- 41:55that has the the screen on the top.
- 41:57Or if you can solve it by like kind of peeking your then you
- 42:01put your face right in front of the camera and you realize you,
- 42:03you can't see what you're seeing out the window to know if you're
- 42:06seeing the right, you know, spot it is it's very frustrating.
- 42:12I'm I'm not a huge fan of the camera and the tripod, but it's,
- 42:18it's doable. Yeah.
- 42:19It's just it's tough. Yeah, learning and and wraps.
- 42:24I mean for blinds and tree stands I think it makes sense to
- 42:26be comfortable self filming because it's like it makes more
- 42:29sense to be by yourself. Especially multiple beef learn.
- 42:32Maybe in a blind I'll agree with you.
- 42:34In a tree stand it is. It's good to be comfortable with
- 42:39a good camera arm. However, I have always loved.
- 42:45And you watched, well, I don't know if you did, I don't know.
- 42:49There wasn't really a lot of Western hunters that were on TV,
- 42:52but you know, so you watched a lot of the East Coast hunters
- 42:56that were traditional whitetail hunters.
- 43:00I always thought that it, it was super cool to watch those TV
- 43:06shows where it's very clear, you know, they're not turning and
- 43:10talking to a camera in the tree. They're turning and talking to a
- 43:13guy that's in the tree and the they might have another camera
- 43:18that's filming from another angle.
- 43:20That's a still. But it was always cool because
- 43:24like obviously it takes some nicer camera equipment to do
- 43:27that because you got to catch the sound and have good quality
- 43:31zoom. But like you are able to like
- 43:33zoom in, zoom out and see them standing there still as can be
- 43:38whole body on the tree stand with the whitetail down on the
- 43:43ground 20 yards in front of them.
- 43:45You can't quite capture the intensity of tree stand hunting.
- 43:50I think with, you know, the camera that said, you know,
- 43:53maybe catching your head and your draw, but it's not catching
- 43:58you shaking while you're standing there like a twig as
- 44:01still as possible, hoping to not scare that animal and and get
- 44:04the right point where you can draw your bow without them
- 44:07seeing you with how close you are to them.
- 44:10Having somebody in the tree capturing that it's it sells a
- 44:15whole nother level of like the intensity of tree stand sitting
- 44:20that often is goes unnoticed. Yeah, yeah.
- 44:26I mean, good stuff, good stuff. Just I guess we'll, you know,
- 44:31we're just excited for what's coming.
