Twins’ star center fielder Byron Buxton goes on injured list after aggravating a hip issue, sidelining him for at least ten days and knocking him out of All-Star Game contention. In his absence, the Twins call up outfielder Alan Roden — a 26-year-old with MLB experience and a strong minor league resume — to fill the void. Roden, who’s played all three outfield spots in Triple-A, is primed to take over center field and could make his case for a bigger role as the Twins look ahead to a post-break showdown with the Cubs.
