- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 1: It is ste Gotson Company Live. T Bob abear He's
- 0:23Speaker 1: going to join us, coming up in about fifteen minutes.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Excited for that. He is fresh off a trip into
- 0:28Speaker 1: the deep woods of Michigan because he's tea bop. Terrell
- 0:32Speaker 1: Davis going to join us as well. An hour two,
- 0:34Speaker 1: Aaron Shat's going to join us as well. So I
- 0:37Speaker 1: have fully shifted my focus here, guys after the World
- 0:40Speaker 1: Cup to football.
- 0:42Speaker 3: I don't know where you guys are at am.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I am knee deep in fantasy football magazines.
- 0:47Speaker 3: I am starting to put bets in.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I am doing everything because it is football time and
- 0:52Speaker 1: training camp opened up today.
- 0:53Speaker 3: What an exciting time. Huh, Welcome to it.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Stuc Gott's I've been here for months.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Have you, Taylor? Have you arrived yet?
- 1:04Speaker 1: I'm wondering if Taylor has arrived yet because he focuses
- 1:07Speaker 1: a bit on college football he's ready for North Carolina.
- 1:10Speaker 3: I'm not certain he's ready for the NFL. Yeah.
- 1:13Speaker 5: No, and especially I dig my heels in on. I'm
- 1:16Speaker 5: not a fantasy football guy. So like you guys are
- 1:19Speaker 5: doing all the magazines and the previews right now and
- 1:22Speaker 5: trying to figure out where Travis etn is in your
- 1:25Speaker 5: running back rankings. Yeah, none of that doesn't for me.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Third round for me.
- 1:29Speaker 3: I'm just trying to figure out where he is.
- 1:32Speaker 5: You guys, if you guys need fantasy this is a
- 1:35Speaker 5: message to anybody out there. If you need fantasy football
- 1:38Speaker 5: to get you excited for football, Yeah, check your pulse
- 1:42Speaker 5: because football does it for me.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Yes, put it on the poll.
- 1:45Speaker 1: If you need fantasy football to get excited for football,
- 1:48Speaker 1: should you check your pulse.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Now?
- 1:52Speaker 6: And I get excited for fantasy football while also still
- 1:55Speaker 6: just being excited for football.
- 1:57Speaker 5: That message wasn't to you, then, That message I've just check.
- 2:02Speaker 5: That message is to the guy at the bar who
- 2:04Speaker 5: is constantly reminding you, oh, I have Mike Evans. Mike
- 2:08Speaker 5: Evans is my wide receiver too. I really need a
- 2:10Speaker 5: big day for Mike Evans today, and I'm looking at him.
- 2:12Speaker 5: I'm like, buddy, I don't even want to talk to
- 2:14Speaker 5: you right now, and especially if you're gonna be talking
- 2:16Speaker 5: to me about your fantasy football team.
- 2:18Speaker 3: He was w R three from me last year I
- 2:20Speaker 3: won a title. How about that? Yeah? Go ahead, Mike, Yeah, listen,
- 2:23Speaker 3: I'd be excited.
- 2:24Speaker 6: I'm excited about Mike Evans too, But I'm also like
- 2:27Speaker 6: with that left guard play, I'm not sure they're gonna
- 2:29Speaker 6: be They're gonna be able to get the ball him
- 2:30Speaker 6: the ball as much as.
- 2:31Speaker 1: They want, Mikey, you know what's going on here? Taylor
- 2:33Speaker 1: does not realize because you know he's a he's.
- 2:36Speaker 3: A fan of the world champion New York Knicks.
- 2:38Speaker 1: He doesn't realize what it's like to be a fan
- 2:41Speaker 1: of such a lousy team like the New York Jets,
- 2:43Speaker 1: that sometimes your fantasy team just gets you more excited
- 2:46Speaker 1: than the actual team you've been rooting for your entire life.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Who was giving you nothing? At least?
- 2:51Speaker 1: My fantasy team is Bear Fruits. I won it last year.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Mike Evans w R three about that.
- 2:57Speaker 4: North North Carolina with like a word.
- 3:00Speaker 5: I grew up a Jets fan too. I just gave
- 3:02Speaker 5: them up, all.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Right, Well, I wish I had what is going on
- 3:08Speaker 1: I can't believe this. I've been doing this for twenty
- 3:12Speaker 1: plus years now, and it's the first time I have
- 3:15Speaker 1: asked any staff before the show.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Hey, what do you guys want to start with? This
- 3:19Speaker 3: is the first time this has happened.
- 3:21Speaker 1: And both the guys here, Taylor and Mikeya both responded
- 3:26Speaker 1: almost at the same time. The Bucks, what is going
- 3:30Speaker 1: on in Tampa Bay that makes them so interesting that
- 3:32Speaker 1: you guys wanted to start the show there today?
- 3:34Speaker 5: So the vibes right now in Tampa Bay just feel
- 3:38Speaker 5: very off right now where they lost two franchise icons
- 3:44Speaker 5: this pass offseason. Levante David retires after fourteen seasons. Mike
- 3:48Speaker 5: Evans signs with the San Francisco forty nine ers. Now,
- 3:51Speaker 5: the Bucks and quarterback Baker Mayfield are expected to end
- 3:54Speaker 5: contract extension talks, and the plan is for Mayfield to
- 3:57Speaker 5: play this season on the final year of his contract,
- 4:00Speaker 5: and then he's set to become a free agent in March.
- 4:02Speaker 5: And then you have Videvea, who is a staple in
- 4:06Speaker 5: Tampa Bay, requesting a trade and he's somebody who appeared
- 4:11Speaker 5: in all seventeen games last season. Yeah, his numbers will
- 4:14Speaker 5: never do his game justification because of his impact stuffing
- 4:18Speaker 5: the run and just getting quarterback pressures. Like, if you're
- 4:21Speaker 5: just judging Vidavey off the sack totals you get, you're
- 4:25Speaker 5: doing it wrong because videvea z impact goes well beyond
- 4:28Speaker 5: the box score.
- 4:29Speaker 1: This from next Gen Stats. You guys said you wanted
- 4:31Speaker 1: to start with the Bucks. Therefore I did some research.
- 4:34Speaker 1: There are two players with at least fifty pressures from
- 4:37Speaker 1: the nose tackle spot of the last three combined seasons,
- 4:40Speaker 1: Dexter Lawrence with sixty eight, Vitaveya with sixty two.
- 4:45Speaker 3: How about that.
- 4:46Speaker 1: It's a good stat Yeah, you like that little research.
- 4:48Speaker 1: You guys want to talk Bucks, I'm.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Here for it. Yeah, Vita Bea.
- 4:53Speaker 6: The people who say Vita Beya isn't that good, or
- 4:56Speaker 6: the same people that Taylor was talking about earlier that
- 4:58Speaker 6: are just excited about their fantas. Anybody who knows anything
- 5:01Speaker 6: about football and watches the Bucks knows Vida Bay and
- 5:04Speaker 6: makes that defense go.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Yeah, It's one thing to say you want out, it's
- 5:08Speaker 1: another thing to say. And I'm not certain he has
- 5:10Speaker 1: the power to do this, but he is trying to
- 5:12Speaker 1: pick where it is he wants to play. He wants
- 5:15Speaker 1: to go back to his home state of California, or
- 5:17Speaker 1: maybe Las Vegas.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Because it's close to California. I'm assuming so Vita Veya.
- 5:22Speaker 1: He's a great player, he's thirty one years old, he's
- 5:24Speaker 1: the final year of a contract.
- 5:26Speaker 3: I'm not certain he can call his shots, Kenny.
- 5:28Speaker 5: I mean if he just keeps saying I'm not going
- 5:31Speaker 5: to play, and then you kind of back him into
- 5:34Speaker 5: a corner and then it's like, if push comes to shove,
- 5:36Speaker 5: will v Devay actually sit out? Because right now he's
- 5:39Speaker 5: been a hold in during mandatory mini camp where he's
- 5:42Speaker 5: showing up but he's just not participating. We'll see if
- 5:45Speaker 5: that changes as you get to training camp when Tampa
- 5:49Speaker 5: Bay has to report. But if you're looking at the
- 5:51Speaker 5: possible destinations of where he could go with the California
- 5:55Speaker 5: or Vegas, obviously you have the Raiders, and then you
- 5:58Speaker 5: have the Chargers, the Ram, the forty nine Ers. I'll
- 6:01Speaker 5: say it right now, Yeah, if he goes to the Rams,
- 6:05Speaker 5: I might be done with the NFL.
- 6:06Speaker 3: I might quit football. Put it on the ball.
- 6:08Speaker 1: The Vita Veya winds up an La Ram, will you
- 6:11Speaker 1: quit football?
- 6:12Speaker 3: I'm with I'll still play my fantasy team, though.
- 6:15Speaker 6: I mean, you'll be glued to every single game to
- 6:19Speaker 6: watch that RAMS team, and you both are lying to
- 6:21Speaker 6: yourselves by saying you'll quit football. You will be so
- 6:24Speaker 6: excited to watch those games.
- 6:26Speaker 1: It seems like a pointless exercise. If they're going to
- 6:28Speaker 1: be that good, it does mean.
- 6:29Speaker 5: Yeah, But to Mikey's point, this is kind of like
- 6:31Speaker 5: when people were saying it with the Colin Kaepernick the
- 6:34Speaker 5: kneeling stuff, like I'm done watching the NFL, and it's
- 6:37Speaker 5: like you're looking at the NFL's numbers and the viewership
- 6:40Speaker 5: keeps going up. And I don't think anybody that actually
- 6:43Speaker 5: says they're going to quit the NFL actually quits the
- 6:45Speaker 5: NFL because once Sunday one PM rolls around. Yeah, I'm
- 6:49Speaker 5: locked in.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Just Calvin Johnson and Barry Sanders, that's it. And why
- 6:52Speaker 1: because they played in that hell hole.
- 6:57Speaker 6: I got another spot for Vita Beya and it's not
- 6:59Speaker 6: what Coast, but it could be really interesting to see.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Yeah, what if they use him.
- 7:04Speaker 6: To replace Dexter Lawrence with the New York Giants, right,
- 7:08Speaker 6: I mean, I mean John Harbaugh's always had that big
- 7:11Speaker 6: presidence in the middle HELLOONI Nada yeah.
- 7:13Speaker 5: I mean I could.
- 7:14Speaker 4: See that's a young, up and coming team. Yeah, veteran
- 7:17Speaker 4: presence on the defensive line. I like that.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but now you're going from a team that was
- 7:21Speaker 1: a playoff team a year ago to a team that
- 7:24Speaker 1: that wasn't.
- 7:25Speaker 3: In the playoffs, was far from the playoffs. Also far
- 7:28Speaker 3: from where he wants to live in La.
- 7:29Speaker 6: So yeah, but he's not leaving. He's not leaving the
- 7:33Speaker 6: Bucks because they're not going to be good. He's leaving
- 7:35Speaker 6: them because of money.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:36Speaker 5: I'm just saying this is like Miles Garrett in Cleveland,
- 7:38Speaker 5: where Miles Garrett was doing this whole thing saying I
- 7:41Speaker 5: want out of Cleveland, and the second they paid him,
- 7:43Speaker 5: Miles Garrett did play in Cleveland. Yeah.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Yes, I'm just saying, you present Vita with you know,
- 7:50Speaker 1: New York Giants as your destination, it's going to be
- 7:53Speaker 1: Vita Neya.
- 7:54Speaker 3: How about that. I mean, I'm a terrible joke.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I went a long way to that myself for an awful,
- 8:02Speaker 1: terrible joke, and I'm ashamed of myself.
- 8:05Speaker 5: I have some Mikey with Vidavey to the Giants. Does
- 8:09Speaker 5: it make sense for the Giants? I think it does
- 8:11Speaker 5: because you have this quarterback in Jackson Dart on a
- 8:13Speaker 5: rookie deal. This is your window to get high profile
- 8:17Speaker 5: guys that you think can put your team over the edge.
- 8:20Speaker 5: Where I get pushback when it comes to the Giants
- 8:23Speaker 5: is you had Dexter Lawrence and you chose not to
- 8:25Speaker 5: pay Dexter Lawrence. So now you're gonna pay an older
- 8:28Speaker 5: version of Dexter Lawrence.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Right, good point.
- 8:30Speaker 6: Well, you also got a first round pick. You also
- 8:34Speaker 6: got a first round pick for Dexter Lawrence, and you
- 8:36Speaker 6: were able to And I don't think Dexter Lawrence. I
- 8:39Speaker 6: think Dexter Lawrence makes a lot more money than Vita
- 8:41Speaker 6: Vea with HM.
- 8:44Speaker 1: So what is going on with Baker, by the way,
- 8:46Speaker 1: like is because I have been watching you guys watch
- 8:49Speaker 1: the Quarterback Show on Netflix?
- 8:50Speaker 3: Do you guys watch that at all? I'm getting ready
- 8:52Speaker 3: for football?
- 8:53Speaker 1: So that does nothing for me, really, because what it
- 8:55Speaker 1: does for me is it forces me to like guys
- 8:58Speaker 1: that I thought I would never.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Like because he humanizes them because.
- 9:02Speaker 1: You get to see them in family situations, right, You
- 9:05Speaker 1: get to see them interact with their children, interact with
- 9:08Speaker 1: their families, interact with their wives. And I got to
- 9:11Speaker 1: tell you first off just based off of this show
- 9:14Speaker 1: cam War going to the Hall of Fame, Okay, and
- 9:16Speaker 1: I agree with I'm telling you that right now, Joe
- 9:21Speaker 1: Flacco is everything you thought Joe Flacco wasn't more. I mean,
- 9:25Speaker 1: he's not Joe Coole, he used to be Joe Coole.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I mean, I don't want to go He's not the
- 9:32Speaker 1: brightest bulb in the chandelier. Let me just say that,
- 9:34Speaker 1: all right. And Baker Mayfield, I have fallen in love with.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I have fallen in love with Baker Mayfield. What a
- 9:42Speaker 1: great father.
- 9:46Speaker 5: That's on the top of his resume.
- 9:48Speaker 1: It is for me now after watching this Mayfield father. Yes,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I mean this guy cares about his kids. He does
- 9:56Speaker 1: his family. He's a great man.
- 9:58Speaker 3: I love him.
- 9:59Speaker 5: I wish he was a j So what it sounds
- 10:02Speaker 5: like when it comes to Baker Mayfield's contract is there
- 10:04Speaker 5: was just no progress being made and both sides are
- 10:07Speaker 5: looking at each other saying, we are content with you
- 10:10Speaker 5: just playing out this year and then if you want
- 10:12Speaker 5: to test free agency at the end of the season,
- 10:14Speaker 5: we could try to work out another deal. For me.
- 10:17Speaker 5: When I'm seeing all the turmoil right now in Tampa
- 10:20Speaker 5: Bay and you're looking at the odds, they're still the
- 10:23Speaker 5: favorites to win the NFC South, and I think that's
- 10:25Speaker 5: more of just an indictment on how bad the NFC
- 10:27Speaker 5: South is. The Buccaneers right now, it feels like they're
- 10:31Speaker 5: just going to go down with the Todd Bowles ship,
- 10:33Speaker 5: and Todd Bowles really hasn't given you much reason to
- 10:37Speaker 5: believe that's the right call. Where I wanted to ask
- 10:40Speaker 5: you guys this now that we're armed with some bit
- 10:44Speaker 5: of hindsight, the Bucks go ten and seven in twenty
- 10:47Speaker 5: twenty four, they win the NFC South. They lose by
- 10:50Speaker 5: three in the wildcard round to the Commanders. Liam Cohne
- 10:53Speaker 5: is their OC. Liam Cohne would leave that January for
- 10:57Speaker 5: the Jaguars head coaching job. If you could give the
- 11:00Speaker 5: Bucks of do over, do they fire Todd Bowles right
- 11:03Speaker 5: then and promote Liam Cohne from within?
- 11:05Speaker 2: Wow?
- 11:06Speaker 6: Wow, great question.
- 11:08Speaker 3: It is a great question. Todd Bowles.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I mean, seems like he has the same record every
- 11:13Speaker 1: single year, and it seems like the expression on his
- 11:15Speaker 1: face never changes, and it seems like he just never
- 11:18Speaker 1: gets fired.
- 11:19Speaker 4: I mean, I think you have to. I mean, knowing
- 11:24Speaker 4: what Liam Cohen has done.
- 11:25Speaker 6: With Jacksonville, and I mean, I never when the Jets
- 11:30Speaker 6: hired Robert sala I said when we interviewed him on
- 11:33Speaker 6: this show, I would run through a wall for that guy.
- 11:36Speaker 6: I'm not sure Todd Bowles could get me to run
- 11:39Speaker 6: through a wet paper bag.
- 11:40Speaker 4: He's just so monotone and so sullen and just kind
- 11:44Speaker 4: of like, well, we did a good job.
- 11:46Speaker 6: But for some reason, they're always in contention with him.
- 11:51Speaker 6: But I would, I would, I would, Yeah, I'd have
- 11:54Speaker 6: fired him.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Are they in contention because of Todd Bowles or are
- 11:57Speaker 5: they in contention with Todd Bowles?
- 11:59Speaker 1: Tailor saying is they're in contention because that division is
- 12:02Speaker 1: so lousy. If their coach is any good, they would
- 12:04Speaker 1: run away with that division every single year based.
- 12:06Speaker 5: On their talent, right exactly.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Yes, And you feel like Liam Cohen, if you had
- 12:12Speaker 1: the job, he would be the guy that would do that.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Correct.
- 12:14Speaker 5: If Liam Cohn was in Tampa Bay, we would be
- 12:16Speaker 5: talking about Tampa Bay today as like potential Super Bowl contenders.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I think are we doing that with Jacksonville because that's
- 12:22Speaker 1: where Liam Cohen is so well, Yeah, we just.
- 12:25Speaker 5: Don't love Trevor Lawrence. That's I think that's where we
- 12:27Speaker 5: kind of fall out of there.
- 12:28Speaker 1: So you're saying, put Liam Guhn with Baker Mayfield and
- 12:31Speaker 1: then you have something Vitevea wouldn't be asking to leave?
- 12:33Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, you to stay up. Yes, he got
- 12:39Speaker 3: the job.

- 13:16Speaker 1: All Right, No, with thanks to t Bob for joining
- 13:18Speaker 1: us in that last segment, to El Davis, Hall of
- 13:20Speaker 1: Famer going to join us an hour number two Aaron
- 13:22Speaker 1: Shatz as well. The Football Almanac is out. Football season
- 13:25Speaker 1: is here. I'm very excited college football A bit closer, Taylor,
- 13:29Speaker 1: what is happening at the University of North Carolina. Yesterday,
- 13:33Speaker 1: there were reports that Michael Lombardi, the GM who has
- 13:37Speaker 1: been a guest on this show several times, making one
- 13:39Speaker 1: and a half million dollars per year, the highest paid
- 13:42Speaker 1: GM in college football, that he is on a paid
- 13:45Speaker 1: leave right now, what are we hearing in Chapel Hill.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Yeah, so the paid leave was because of an HR
- 13:52Speaker 5: matter from a former Carolina football employee. But now, per
- 13:57Speaker 5: Pablo Torre, the University of North Carolina football team is
- 14:00Speaker 5: also being investigated by the College Sports Commission, the entity
- 14:04Speaker 5: which handles compliance and enforcement of NCAA and NIL rules.
- 14:08Speaker 5: So it's kind of the when it rains at poors
- 14:12Speaker 5: in Chapel Hill right now.
- 14:13Speaker 6: Yep, you got to be loving this, Taylor if you want, like,
- 14:16Speaker 6: when you know your team isn't going to be good
- 14:18Speaker 6: and you don't like your coach, you kind of need
- 14:21Speaker 6: some scandal.
- 14:22Speaker 4: That's something t Bob had said to us. You got
- 14:24Speaker 4: to be hoping, like, hey, you know what, go ahead
- 14:27Speaker 4: and clean house.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Yep. The P and Pablo stands for poors.
- 14:31Speaker 5: So what I was hoping was when it rains at poors,
- 14:35Speaker 5: what was just Miami beating us by forty points. I
- 14:37Speaker 5: don't need Carolina to be the laughing stock. This is
- 14:42Speaker 5: this is my fault, because this is like in a
- 14:44Speaker 5: movie where you have a genie and if your wish
- 14:47Speaker 5: isn't specific enough, it winds up coming back to screw
- 14:50Speaker 5: you over. I wish for North Carolina to be relevant
- 14:53Speaker 5: in college football. Congratulations, Bozo, you got your wish. We
- 14:56Speaker 5: can't stay out of the news. I didn't wish for.
- 14:58Speaker 5: What I should have wished for was Carolina to be
- 15:00Speaker 5: elite in college football or for North Carolina to be
- 15:03Speaker 5: the Kurt Signetti of college football. Instead, I just wish, Hey,
- 15:07Speaker 5: let's just be relevant and guess what, Bill Belichick, He's
- 15:10Speaker 5: got that handled for us.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Right.
- 15:11Speaker 1: So, you'd rather be elite without the scandal. Naturally you
- 15:14Speaker 1: wouldn't want that, But with this scandal, you would rather
- 15:18Speaker 1: not have the chance of being elite, with this Hall
- 15:20Speaker 1: of Fame coach.
- 15:20Speaker 3: You would just rather be Mac Brown. You'd rather be
- 15:23Speaker 3: you know, You'll.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Take your nine and fours just as long as no
- 15:26Speaker 1: one is snooping around, you know.
- 15:28Speaker 5: So this is the problem too with this where people
- 15:30Speaker 5: are coming out now saying North Carolina shouldn't have fired
- 15:34Speaker 5: Mac Brown. Danny Canell. His take was U and C
- 15:37Speaker 5: should have never let mac Brown go. If they stuck
- 15:39Speaker 5: with mac Brown and gave him the resources they gave
- 15:41Speaker 5: to Bill Belichick, the targos would be top third of
- 15:44Speaker 5: the ACC worst case. Instead, they're at the bottom and
- 15:46Speaker 5: probably looking for a coach in a year or two.
- 15:50Speaker 5: I do agree with the resources part because right now
- 15:53Speaker 5: you mentioned it, Lombardi's the highest paid GM. They won
- 15:55Speaker 5: four games last year. Any other school you would probably
- 15:59Speaker 5: fire that GM if those were the results you got,
- 16:01Speaker 5: and Belichick is a top ten paid coach in college football.
- 16:04Speaker 5: My problem with the mac Brown narrative is we're just
- 16:08Speaker 5: forgetting that James Madison scored seventy points against mac Brown.
- 16:11Speaker 5: The Dukes James Madison beat Mac Brown seventy to fifty. Yeah, like,
- 16:16Speaker 5: we can't just gloss over that part just because of
- 16:18Speaker 5: how bad the Belichick. Two things can be true. North
- 16:21Speaker 5: Carolina needed a new coach. The Belichick experiment should be over.
- 16:26Speaker 5: The program needs a complete reset just two years into it.
- 16:30Speaker 3: I just want to be clear here, though, Okay, you.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Want Belichick to get fired based on wins and losses.
- 16:35Speaker 1: You do not want scandal around the program. You don't
- 16:38Speaker 1: want Pablo snooping around the program.
- 16:40Speaker 3: He's done enough.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I mean seriously, So you would rather Belichick just get
- 16:45Speaker 1: off to an zhe and five start and get fired
- 16:46Speaker 1: on his own, right?
- 16:47Speaker 5: Yeah? I would rather TCU just kind of drag us
- 16:50Speaker 5: in Ireland. In Belichick, he stays in Ireland.
- 16:54Speaker 4: To play a little bit at Devil's advocate. Who was
- 16:56Speaker 4: the coach at James Madison when they ran seventy on?
- 16:58Speaker 5: You do you Seela coach? It wasn't Signetti, No no good,
- 17:04Speaker 5: try that.
- 17:06Speaker 4: I tried, Terrell Davis.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Thanks, be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson
- 17:12Speaker 2: Company Live weekdacent three pm Eastern, twelve pm Pacific.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Our thanks to Aaron Schatz and Terrell Davis. Mikey Football,
- 17:23Speaker 1: it's your training camp, but you're so excited, look at you.
- 17:29Speaker 1: But let's talk baseball.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Taylor.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Taylor is still following the baseball season. I will follow
- 17:38Speaker 1: it again once we reach the postseason. But you are
- 17:40Speaker 1: upset before we get to this list the one hundred
- 17:43Speaker 1: Greatest dot Com the top one hundred baseball players. According
- 17:46Speaker 1: to a guy named Jake Taylor. You're upset about a
- 17:49Speaker 1: Yankee report? Is that accurate.
- 17:51Speaker 5: Yeah, So injuries right now were really starting to mount
- 17:54Speaker 5: up for this Yankee team. Cody Bellinger's out for four
- 17:56Speaker 5: to six weeks now with a hamstring injury. I think
- 17:59Speaker 5: you can actually make a case for Aaron Boone to
- 18:01Speaker 5: be the manager of the year when you look at
- 18:04Speaker 5: the time Bellinger's miss, the time Judges miss, and the
- 18:06Speaker 5: time Stanton's miss those three. But that's a topic for
- 18:09Speaker 5: another day. The report that I was mad at, yes
- 18:13Speaker 5: from this comes from Chris Kirshner. The Yankees are likely
- 18:17Speaker 5: to add a catcher at the deadline, but it would
- 18:18Speaker 5: be surprising if it was for someone at the top
- 18:21Speaker 5: of the market because of the team's belief in Austin Wells.
- 18:25Speaker 5: Let me remind that he Let me remind everybody. Austin
- 18:29Speaker 5: Wells is batting one sixty five.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Yes, but they believe in him, and sometimes that's all
- 18:34Speaker 1: that matters, you know.
- 18:36Speaker 5: I mean, So, the problem I'm having with Austin Wells
- 18:38Speaker 5: is the Yankees do have the best pitching staff era
- 18:42Speaker 5: in baseball. How much credit does Austin Wells deserve for that?
- 18:47Speaker 5: Because he's in the ninetieth percentile when it comes to framing,
- 18:51Speaker 5: he's in the seventh percentile in caught stealing above average.
- 18:55Speaker 5: But at the plate, his value to a team is
- 18:58Speaker 5: about it as bad as you'll ever see. I'm a
- 19:00Speaker 5: starting from a starting, everyday player.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Yes, so what you're saying is he handles the staff well.
- 19:05Speaker 1: The staff likes to pitch to him, the staff is
- 19:07Speaker 1: doing well, they're having a good year collectively. But the
- 19:10Speaker 1: guy is basically an out.
- 19:12Speaker 5: So I mean, so the staff loves to pitch to him,
- 19:16Speaker 5: and every other staff loves to pitch against him.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Pitchers just love pitching to him. I mean, how about.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Doesn't matter what team they're on. That's quite the conundrum.
- 19:26Speaker 1: You have an abundance of riches when this is the
- 19:30Speaker 1: only issue. You have your Yankee team. And it's interesting
- 19:33Speaker 1: because a year ago you wanted Aaron Boon fired and
- 19:36Speaker 1: now he's the manager of the year.
- 19:37Speaker 5: No, I know, you keep saying I wanted Aaron Boon fire.
- 19:40Speaker 4: You keep saying Boone.
- 19:43Speaker 5: Boone is not the problem.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Boon is Wells.
- 19:46Speaker 5: Yes, it's Wells, it's Vulpy, it's Camille de Val, it's
- 19:52Speaker 5: Brian Cashman.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Yes, right, So how do you feel about that?
- 19:56Speaker 1: Because you got you have a guy that the staff
- 19:58Speaker 1: loves the staff, likes to pitch. Do we Handel's the staff? Well,
- 20:01Speaker 1: they have confidence in him. But he's an out. He's
- 20:03Speaker 1: an automatic out. He's Israel playing softball. So what do
- 20:07Speaker 1: you want to do here? What do you think they
- 20:08Speaker 1: should do?
- 20:08Speaker 5: You have to upgrade the catcher position as best as
- 20:12Speaker 5: you can. Shay langleiars goes down and he was one
- 20:15Speaker 5: of the names I preferred. If the Yankees were solid
- 20:18Speaker 5: one through eight lineup, I think you could. You could
- 20:21Speaker 5: have Austin Wells be the automatic out right. Nobody on
- 20:25Speaker 5: this Yankee team really hits that well. So you can't
- 20:27Speaker 5: have another guy that doesn't hit, especially not well. Right.
- 20:31Speaker 1: I hope you get a catcher who all he does
- 20:33Speaker 1: is hit, but the pitchers explode. They don't like pitching
- 20:35Speaker 1: to him. They'll take my chances. Yeah, okay, but you
- 20:39Speaker 1: need a bat you do?
- 20:40Speaker 3: You really do? All right?
- 20:41Speaker 1: The one hundred greatest baseball players of all time, according
- 20:44Speaker 1: to a guy named Jake check out his website, the
- 20:46Speaker 1: one hundred greatest dot com. We can't get him on
- 20:48Speaker 1: the show, and why would he come on the show.
- 20:50Speaker 1: We keep promoting him and his website. Mikey, where do
- 20:53Speaker 1: we leave off here.
- 20:55Speaker 6: We left off with number seventy four. Jose Altuve yesterday.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Ridiculous cheater.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Yeah, alright, so give me number seventy three.
- 21:03Speaker 4: Here, number seventy three. Adrian Beltray.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Wow, Adrian Beltray, I guess I mean compiler a little bit, right.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I think I'd rather have Tony Gwyn I think three
- 21:16Speaker 1: thousand hits and five hundred homers for Adrian Beltree.
- 21:19Speaker 3: Did you just say you'd rather have Tony Gwinn.
- 21:22Speaker 5: Push comes to shop?
- 21:24Speaker 4: You were going to hate the next one?
- 21:26Speaker 1: Man?
- 21:26Speaker 3: What do you got?
- 21:28Speaker 6: Number seventy two, our second active player, Mookie Betts.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I mean he's certainly a top one hundred baseball player
- 21:39Speaker 1: of all time, right, Yeah?
- 21:43Speaker 5: Riccardo's giving it long thought right now.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Is he? Well?
- 21:47Speaker 1: Tell me what he's done, Taylor.
- 21:53Speaker 6: Keep an eye on Ricardo as I read number seventy one,
- 21:56Speaker 6: you're ready give it to us?
- 21:58Speaker 4: Number seventy one. Nolan Ryan.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Wow, he's still a long thought from the last one.
- 22:05Speaker 5: He just shrugged. I have Nolan Ryan compiler.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Yes, well, he never won a cy Young he never did.
- 22:13Speaker 1: He pitched out in a twenty plus years, I think
- 22:15Speaker 1: three hundred wins, but he also lost a ton of
- 22:17Speaker 1: games as well.
- 22:17Speaker 5: He would think the amount, Yeah, the amount of people
- 22:20Speaker 5: talk about Nolan Ryan, Nolan Ryan, this, Nolan Ryan that
- 22:23Speaker 5: win a cy Young one time for me.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Well, he can't anymore. He's no longer playing.
- 22:28Speaker 5: Jacob Misserowski.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:30Speaker 5: If Jacob Mizerowski is what people want you to think
- 22:34Speaker 5: that Nolan Ryan was in the eighties and nineties, I
- 22:36Speaker 5: bet yeah.
- 22:37Speaker 1: And could schoolb will do me a favor and stop
- 22:38Speaker 1: telling people he wants to stay in Detroit. No one
- 22:40Speaker 1: wants to stay in Detroit less than Treek Schooble. Enough
- 22:43Speaker 1: of him anyway. Mikey last won here for the.
- 22:45Speaker 4: Day, number seventy. One of my favorites of all time.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Roy Halliday, Wow, Doc, Doc, he is deserving.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I mean the Marlins. He pitched a perfect game at
- 23:00Speaker 1: the Marlins. The Marlins, you know, they think so highly
- 23:03Speaker 1: of him. They took his ball and they sold it.
