- 0:02Speaker 1: correspondent Kevin Germany apparently foiling a suspected TIRA plot. Tell
- 0:07Speaker 1: us about that.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Good morning to you Ryan. Yeah. Unconfirmed, but it is
- 0:12Speaker 2: said that the days before the final of the Euros,
- 0:17Speaker 2: in which of course England football team were defeated by
- 0:20Speaker 2: Spain two to one. It was last Sunday's big football showpiece.
- 0:24Speaker 2: But it's now been claimed that in the days before that,
- 0:28Speaker 2: police in Germany managed to foil a suspected terrorist plot
- 0:32Speaker 2: by Islamic State. It was said that there was the
- 0:35Speaker 2: potential to attack a fan zone, so where fans don't
- 0:39Speaker 2: have tickets, they obviously go to a big screen in
- 0:41Speaker 2: a big area, and it was said to be in
- 0:43Speaker 2: Berlin's sprawling bright shiped flats. Thousands of supporters did gather there,
- 0:48Speaker 2: but that was after three suspects had been detained by
- 0:51Speaker 2: German special forces coordinated raids in the nearby Potsdam district,
- 0:57Speaker 2: and it was said that of those it is thought
- 1:00Speaker 2: that people were taking pictures on their phones of the
- 1:04Speaker 2: area beforehand, so it said the men were known to
- 1:08Speaker 2: Islamic that were known as Islamic State supporters already to
- 1:11Speaker 2: German surveillance and of course round Let's not forget all
- 1:14Speaker 2: this before the Olympics starts in Paris amid very type
- 1:19Speaker 2: security on Friday.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Yeah, that is a worry, isn't it. And I know
- 1:22Speaker 1: I've got about forty five thousand police officers who can
- 1:26Speaker 1: be in the city for the opening ceremony. Let's go
- 1:28Speaker 1: to Leeds riots and Leads.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Yeah, so Leeds, big city in Yorkshire, northeast of England.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And when the local authority turned up with police in
- 1:40Speaker 2: order to take some children away from one particular family.
- 1:44Speaker 2: We don't have any more details, but obviously the authorities
- 1:47Speaker 2: did not think the children were safe. All of a
- 1:49Speaker 2: sudden they were surrounded by lots of other people thought
- 1:52Speaker 2: to be from the Roma community, of which there is
- 1:55Speaker 2: a large ethnic population of Roma in the Harehells district Leads.
- 2:01Speaker 2: It led to some violence. Police were attacked with things
- 2:03Speaker 2: being thrown at them, but also if police car was overturned,
- 2:06Speaker 2: officers telted as I mentioned, and a bus was set
- 2:10Speaker 2: on fire. Well, a man has now been charged with
- 2:12Speaker 2: arson and violent disorder because of the bus, and five
- 2:16Speaker 2: others have been arrested on suspicion and violent disorder lots
- 2:19Speaker 2: of very good pictures on social media of those who
- 2:22Speaker 2: were said to be the ringleaders, and the Home Secretary
- 2:25Speaker 2: saying this was just absolutely audacious, senseless violence and it
- 2:29Speaker 2: will not be allowed and the police are to take
- 2:32Speaker 2: the full force of action against those that are found responsible.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Conditions there still said to be very tense in the
- 2:39Speaker 2: Ahals area as the children are still away from the
- 2:43Speaker 2: family and the family say they want the children back.
- 2:45Speaker 2: They've done nothing wrong.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Gosh, it does sound like a very distressing situation. Kevin,
