- 1:10For more than half a century, Lindsey Olin Graham
- 1:14walked the long road of American service, from
- 1:17a small family restaurant in central South Carolina,
- 1:20to the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan,
- 1:23to the halls of the United States Senate. And
- 1:26now, with his sudden passing at age 71, we pause
- 1:30to honor a life marked by duty, resilience, and

- 1:54died of Hodgkin's disease. 15 months later, his
- 1:58father died. 15 months later, his father died.
- 2:01At 22, he became legal guardian to his 13 -year
- 2:05-old sister, Darlene, finishing college and law
- 2:09school while raising her. Responsibility came
- 2:11early for Lindsey Graham, and it never left him.
- 2:14He graduated from the University of South Carolina
- 2:17with a Bachelor's of Art in 1977. and he earned

- 5:21moment. Senator Lindsey Graham died on July 11,
- 5:242026, at age 71. After what his office described
- 5:30as a brief and sudden illness, medical examiners
- 5:33reported an aortic rupture caused by a hardened
- 5:37artery. He had returned from the Ukraine. the
- 5:40day before and spoke with President Trump shortly
- 5:42before collapsing. Flags across the nation were
- 5:45ordered to half -staff. Leaders across the world,
- 5:48from President Zelensky to Prime Minister Netanyahu,
- 5:51issued tributes honoring his decades of advocacy.
- 5:54He was a patriot, President Trump said. Israel
- 5:57has lost one of their greatest friends, said
- 6:00Netanyahu. The entire state has lost a statesman,
- 6:04said Senator Tim Scott. In the end, Lindsey Graham's
- 6:07legacy is not one of perfection, but one of perseverance.
- 6:11He was shaped by loss, driven by duty, and defined
- 6:15by service. Tonight, we honor a man who believed
- 6:18America could be a force for good, who fought
- 6:22for the allies abroad, who stood firm in the
- 6:26storms of politics, and who never forgot the
- 6:28responsibility placed on him at age 22, when
- 6:32he became a guardian to his sister. May God comfort
- 6:35his family. May God bless the state of South
- 6:37Carolina. May God continue to guide this nation
- 6:40he served for more than 30 years. Let us pray.
