- 0:43the fabulous Banister McAllister.
- 0:47Oh what's up guys? I was trying to throw a gang
- 0:49sign. I can only do the 18.
- 0:54And today's special guest sitting across the table, we
- 0:59have the one and only Shauna Ramirez.
- 1:04Hello. Is worker just kidding?
- 1:05Sorry. Yes.
- 1:11No. We're really excited to have
- 1:13Shauna on the podcast because we're going to talk about a
- 1:16bunch of stuff, hopefully from a lot of topics, like should I
- 1:21give him a rundown, like an agenda?
- 1:22Sorry, I got into work mode. Yeah, OK, I'll do the agenda.
- 1:26We thought then we could talk about, you know, like grief.
- 1:30I feel like we had some really good conversations, you and I,
- 1:34on that. Definitely.
- 1:35And we're going to talk about witchy things.
- 1:38Love it. Then we're going to do a drink.
- 1:40Love it. Then we're going to talk about
- 1:41Alchemy Studios. Perfect.
- 1:43Then we're going to talk about drinking.
- 1:44Awesome. And then we do Lightning Round.
- 1:46All right, I'm. Excited so you know, look at the
- 1:51time stops guys, if we ever do those things.
- 1:55Probably do not do those things unless I get AI to do it for me.
- 1:59Yeah, no, I, yeah, I think it's, hey, actually Spotify, I saw
- 2:03that it's going to do it had a smart thing to do it for us.
- 2:06You know, if 10 people shoot us an e-mail at our e-mail address,
- 2:11here's to youpod@gmail.com, then I will do the time stamp.
- 2:15Oh I'm going to send like 10 of. Those.
- 2:19If if I'm going to put more effort in, then I need more
- 2:21effort from you listeners. Oh yeah, that's right, that's
- 2:24right. This is a two way relationship.
- 2:28I'm not y'all's sugar daddy. That yeah, true, true.
- 2:34I will just still look pretty and talk.
- 2:37As always. But actually engage with our
- 2:40Instagram too. Here's to you cast right.
- 2:43We're cast on there. I think we're not pod.
- 2:46Sometimes I forget what we. Are it's Here's to you cast.
- 2:49Here's to you cast. Because look them up, we do have
- 2:53the Here's to you pod, but then someone lost the password or
- 2:58something on it and we can't get that one back.
- 3:00Wait for real? I didn't know that was the
- 3:02reason. That was the reason.
- 3:05I think magic. I think that was you.
- 3:07Setup was. It was not me.
- 3:11That's funny, I didn't know that I didn't know that that's the
- 3:14reason we don't I I mean, I liked cast because I thought it
- 3:17sounded cooler like for Instagram, you know, because
- 3:21then people can be like who's the cast?
- 3:23Cuz we're. All true.
- 3:26I love it. I love it.
- 3:28You don't need the pod. Yeah.
- 3:29And then we would like have our interns on there pretty often
- 3:33and we'd be like, this is our unpaid intern, which also if
- 3:37you're looking for an unpaid intern job, please reach out to
- 3:41us at Here's to you Caster, here's to youpod@gmail.com.
- 3:45We will gladly have you on to be an unpaid intern one day.
- 3:51We'll be able to pay you if the listeners pay us.
- 3:57We're speaking it into existence.
- 3:58Oh yes, yes, we're talking about witchy things too, but not
- 4:03witchy things. I, I think like it'd be kind of
- 4:05cool if we kind of start first with the things that are harder
- 4:10to talk about. And so I think you and I kind of
- 4:14related, you know, grief in general.
- 4:16Like I reached out to you pretty soon after my mom died probably,
- 4:21like, I don't know, a couple months after probably.
- 4:24And I feel like our conversation really helped me just in terms
- 4:28of maybe just be feeling hurt because it wasn't necessarily
- 4:30like something that you were actually going to help me get
- 4:33over, right? Because like, that doesn't
- 4:35happen with anybody, right. Yeah.
- 4:38But like, you had lost your mom very young, right, At 10 years
- 4:41old. So I feel like I have also just
- 4:46like when other people have lost someone very close to them,
- 4:50whether at any age, like I feel like I am closer to them to some
- 4:53degree because they get kind of that pain.
- 4:57What was that like for you though at 10?
- 5:01I think it took a lot of years before it fully like I fully
- 5:04started to process it. It was a lot of just like going
- 5:08on with life because what else can you do?
- 5:10So I think it took years later until I started finally
- 5:14processing my grief and processing the loss and going
- 5:18through that journey. But it's never ending.
- 5:20I mean, there's some years that are still really hard.
- 5:22There's some years that aren't as hard but are still hard.
- 5:25You know, it never goes away. It's just kind of a missing
- 5:27piece. So that really changed my life.
- 5:30I think that losing my mom at such a young age, I think made
- 5:34me realize like how short and precious life is.
- 5:38And so I really think moving forward, that's helped shape who
- 5:42I am and just trying to live my life to the fullest because we
- 5:45just don't know how long we have.
- 5:46So I think, you know, her passing away so young and then
- 5:50me losing her so young, like definitely made me realize how
- 5:53precious and short life is. And I think that makes me, you
- 5:57know, more motivated to try to live it to the best of my
- 6:00abilities. Yeah, yeah.
- 6:02How old was she when she had? Passed.
- 6:04She was 46. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:07So she was really young. She was.
- 6:09Very young, so it's a hard journey.
- 6:12And how many siblings do you have again?
- 6:14I have two older, OK, yeah, my sister's six years older and my
- 6:17brother's five years older. So I was the baby.
- 6:20Yeah. I think it was harder for them
- 6:22right off the bat 'cause they were in their teenage years.
- 6:24And so I think they processed more.
- 6:26I don't want to speak for them, but I think that it hit them
- 6:30hardest then and then when I got to be that age where it's like,
- 6:33do you want your mom? You know, my dad's helping me
- 6:36pick out my first bra, get my tampons and pads, you know,
- 6:40shout out to dad, Woo. I think, you know, it was
- 6:44different. Our, all of our journeys were
- 6:46different with it just because of the age differences and our
- 6:48relationship with my mom was all different.
- 6:50So. Yeah.
- 6:51No, that makes sense. I was, I think 26, maybe 20.
- 6:58I'm 29, it's been three years. Yep.
- 7:02Yeah, I think, I think I'm 26. Yeah, it does.
- 7:04I, I, I've found it does not matter what age it is.
- 7:07Yeah, like it's still always going to be hard.
- 7:10It's, it's a part of life, but it's the worst part, you know?
- 7:13Yeah, yeah, for sure. Because I was going to say like,
- 7:16I think for all my siblings, because my sister, my older
- 7:21brother or my, my sister is the oldest, then my brother.
- 7:24And then I have a little sister who is just barely turning 21 in
- 7:28July. And yeah, I definitely hit all
- 7:30of us hard. I feel like for the first year,
- 7:34I was like really mad at the world, you know, cuz more of
- 7:37like how it moved. And I think like keeps going.
- 7:40Yeah, I think that that's kind of like you said that right now
- 7:43was the like, you have to keep going cuz you don't have a
- 7:45choice, right? And I think like that's what
- 7:47frustrated me is that like things had to keep going and you
- 7:54had to keep going. And I never realized that, like,
- 7:58even for because I had been to other funerals of, of friends
- 8:02who had lost somebody and I had, I, I I never really understood
- 8:07that because, you know, you go to a funeral.
- 8:09Absolutely. And it's like part of your day,
- 8:11like, hey, I'm taking time off from work.
- 8:13Yeah. And then you're like, OK.
- 8:15And then later on you're like, well, I'm eating lunch now.
- 8:17Yeah, sure, for sure. It's weird.
- 8:20Yeah. And it is weird.
- 8:21And yeah, it does still put in perspective, right?
- 8:23Like you still feel sad for the person that you're there to
- 8:26support. Because typically for me at that
- 8:28point, all the funerals that I had gone to was not a loss of my
- 8:33own that I was. I mean, I had like uncles who
- 8:36had passed, but they were more distant uncles that I wasn't
- 8:40super, super close with. And so I had the funerals I had
- 8:43been to were like a cousin who had lost an uncle or like a
- 8:47friend who had lost a mom. I like really early.
- 8:50But like, I didn't get it, you know, when I and yeah, I just
- 8:54definitely didn't get it. I feel that.
- 8:57And I think you said what you said about the anger.
- 8:59I think it's interesting how grief, like this past Mother's
- 9:02Day, I woke up just mad, just very angry.
- 9:05And I was like, why am I feeling so like angry?
- 9:07And I'm like, oh, that's just my grief.
- 9:09Like some years it's like lots of tears, lots of sadness.
- 9:13Some years it's like, I'm still mad.
- 9:15I'm mad that it happened. I'm mad that my mom's not here,
- 9:18you know, just mad at the world, that everyone can just live
- 9:21normally, you know, quote, UN quote.
- 9:23But it's interesting how that journey, I mean, you kind of
- 9:26like, go through it, but I feel like sometimes you go back to
- 9:29those anger moments of just feeling like it's not fair.
- 9:33Yeah. And then you're like, OK.
- 9:34And then you sit with it and you let it pass.
- 9:36Yeah. But it's really hard sometimes.
- 9:38You know, I'm not usually an angry person, but I just woke up
- 9:42mad. So it's interesting how it ebbs
- 9:44and flows as time goes on. For sure.
- 9:47It's like a ping pong. Yeah.
- 9:49Or like, yeah, or, or I guess like the jar, like the images
- 9:53that you see about grief, how it's like you kind of learn to
- 9:55live around it for sure. And I think that that is pretty,
- 9:59at least so far in my own. That is what it's kind of felt
- 10:03like. I agree that like or like it's
- 10:05kind of silly to even say this out loud, but sometimes like if
- 10:09a friend of mine is having an argument with their mom.
- 10:12Oh yeah. Or like they or a friend of mine
- 10:15has a strained relationship with their mom.
- 10:18Oh man I struggle to even hear them cuz all I'm thinking is
- 10:23like that is a stupid argument. Yeah you have no reason to.
- 10:27I wish I could argue. With my mom.
- 10:28Yeah. I know it's hard to not feel
- 10:30that way. It's hard to empathize with
- 10:35people that are going through that, even though it's a very
- 10:37real thing. Yeah, just from our personal
- 10:40experiences, it's like, come on. Yeah, it's not that deep.
- 10:44Yeah, or like, 'cause you were, I'm sure, I'm sure that you,
- 10:48when you were younger, you argued with your mom.
- 10:50I argued with my mom all the time, you know, and then like I
- 10:53would tell a friend and like vent to them, like, Oh my God,
- 10:56this or whatever, right, 'cause like that's what they're doing
- 10:58and essentially venting like when you get annoyed at a Co
- 11:01worker or what have you or something dumb.
- 11:05But yeah, 100% like it's just like I, I want to, but it's, I
- 11:13just, it frustrates me. Yep, I understand.
- 11:16Like I like I literally feel. Frustrated.
- 11:18I know. I get it.
- 11:19I get it. And I think that's a normal
- 11:20feeling, you know? That's part of it, Yeah.
- 11:23It's like, And life's not fair, as unfortunate as it is, you
- 11:26know? Yeah, yeah.
- 11:28How was your wedding? My wedding was amazing, but
- 11:34hard, you know, hard to not have my mom there.
- 11:36But I definitely felt like her spirit was there.
- 11:41Yeah. I felt like it was.
- 11:42It was a very emotional day. I did like, a seat in honor of
- 11:45her and put flowers down and had like, a sign made as kind of
- 11:49like a physical reminder that she was, like, there.
- 11:52And spiritually I felt like she was there with me, too.
- 11:54But it was really hard. But it was such a joyful day.
- 11:58It was more, I definitely thought about her a lot, but I
- 12:02think I was more just like, happy that I'd found a great
- 12:05partner and someone that I think she really would have like,
- 12:08loved and supported. So that was a very nice feeling
- 12:11of like feeling at peace, I guess.
- 12:13So, yeah, it was hard though. It was very hard.
- 12:15Lots of tears. Yeah.
- 12:17No, happy and sad, I'm sure. But it was, it was an amazing
- 12:20day. I wish it would have gone
- 12:21slower, but yeah, I, I loved it. It was a good day.
- 12:26Yeah, like the time of the day going slower.
- 12:28I think like that's also an interesting point, right?
- 12:31Because it's like in those moments you do one time to go
- 12:33slow. I know.
- 12:33But but like again, like in the morning part, like I was really
- 12:36mad at how fast. For sure, For sure.
- 12:39Like, I feel sometimes mad at, yeah, that's life, Yeah.
- 12:42Like, yeah. It's crazy.
- 12:44I think you start to realize that too.
- 12:45How like the hours do just go fast?
- 12:49They fly. And it and that is kind of crazy
- 12:51to think about. And then how in like the really
- 12:54good moments, how it does go fast, but you're happy there.
- 12:58Yeah, for sure, for sure. Yeah.
- 13:00You just take it one step at a time.
- 13:01Yeah. How was like?
- 13:05So Speaking of like spiritual stuff too, you know, all the
- 13:09witchy things that you do. Yes.
- 13:13We were also kind of thinking about, like, horoscopes.
- 13:18Do you read them? I don't read them necessarily,
- 13:21but I do believe in them. OK, so my chart, my like big
- 13:26three, I'm all water. OK, so it's an ocean of emotion.
- 13:29So I'm a Pisces. I'm a Pisces and a Scorpio and
- 13:33write. This down.
- 13:34Write this down, Patrick. I'm a Pisces son.
- 13:38Pisces, I'm a Scorpio rising and I'm a Cancer moon, so it is a
- 13:44lot of water, which is a lot of emotion.
- 13:49The more I looked into my chart, actually my grandma was the
- 13:52first one who ever charted my chart.
- 13:54She's like an old hippie from back in the 60s.
- 13:57So my grandma, like I was like, you ever had your chart read?
- 14:00And I was like, no, grandma, she's like, I'm gonna do it for
- 14:03you. And so I remember her like
- 14:04laying a bunch of stuff out and she was telling me all the
- 14:08things about my horoscope and astrology of when I was born and
- 14:12stuff. And so I didn't really think
- 14:13much of it. And then later as I got older, I
- 14:16kind of looked more into it and it's interesting how much it
- 14:19checked out. Yeah, it's just interesting.
- 14:23I feel like the, I feel like Scorpio is like the darkest of
- 14:28the water signs. They have like the most I I
- 14:31would say like shadow. And so it's interesting once I
- 14:33started digging deeper into my chart and realizing like I do
- 14:37have these emotional like bubbly elements, but also like shadow
- 14:41self as well. And I feel like Scorpio is a
- 14:44little bit more of that shadow for me, which is usually how
- 14:46you're rising is. So it's really interesting.
- 14:49I don't know. How old were you when your
- 14:51grandma did that? I was like pretty young.
- 14:53I think I was probably like, well, maybe like 12.
- 14:57Yeah, remember. I just remember her being so
- 14:59excited. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:01To chart my my astrology so. So like, did she?
- 15:06She had cards and like she actually.
- 15:08She had like, I don't even, honestly, I don't remember
- 15:11exactly what all she had, but I remember she had like a like a
- 15:14star chart thing laid out and she was doing some weird stuff.
- 15:17I don't know. Yeah, but it was cool.
- 15:20OK so like you said, you're a Pisces sun, a Scorpio rising,
- 15:23and a Cancer moon. But what does that mean?
- 15:25Like astrology wise? Like what?
- 15:28If you're reading your horoscope, what are you reading?
- 15:33Pisces are very emotional, really all water.
- 15:37It's very emotional, very in tune.
- 15:39I meant like if you were to read your daily horoscope.
- 15:42What are you daily horoscope? When's your birthday?
- 15:47February 29th. I'm actually leap your baby.
- 15:50Oh yeah, so you're like 8 years old or something.
- 15:52I. Only have a real birthday every
- 15:54four years. Yeah, which is pretty cool.
- 15:55So I'm forever young. Let me see, February, You're a
- 16:03Pisces. I'm a Pisces.
- 16:04You just told me that. Yes.
- 16:07I'm a Pisces. I don't.
- 16:09Understand how this works if you guys haven't Pisces.
- 16:12So I've done more research on horoscope stuff just with Pisces
- 16:16specifically, it's really interesting that when you look
- 16:18at the rest of your chart, because a lot of that plays into
- 16:21like who you are too. But Pisces is the 12th sign.
- 16:25So we're kind of a combination of all of the signs.
- 16:29So it allows us to more easily connect with everybody.
- 16:34And that's kind of that like water, that like fluidness, very
- 16:38open, very sensitive, very empathetic.
- 16:40Like, I remember even from a young age being in tune with,
- 16:44like, the energy of other people and being able to kind of, like,
- 16:48pick up on stuff. And then as I got older and
- 16:52started looking into my charts, I'm like, well, it checks out.
- 16:55So yeah. Yeah, I have a lot of friends
- 16:57who are Pisces. Yeah, Dusty's a Virgo.
- 17:00So what does that mean about him?
- 17:01Virgo. My bestie is actually a Virgo.
- 17:04Virgo and Pisces are sister signs.
- 17:06OK, you're sisters. We're sisters.
- 17:10You didn't know you had a sister.
- 17:11Virgo Virgos I think are a lot more grounded trying to think of
- 17:17all the Virgo. We're Earth elements.
- 17:22Yes, you're an Earth. You're an Earth.
- 17:24That's all I know. Queen Damn, I don't really know
- 17:26what about myself I. Know what are you?
- 17:29I've been looking it up for the last couple minutes.
- 17:31OK, OK, OK. He's researching.
- 17:34I'm a Libra. I love Libras.
- 17:37It's all about the balance. Yeah, yeah, I think, I think I'm
- 17:41pretty cool. I.
- 17:42Mean kind. Of I think I'm I love that
- 17:44confidence. Our dear friend Marco Biotics is
- 17:46a Pisces, and that's probably why we get along.
- 17:49Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, you guys
- 17:51are besties. That makes sense.
- 17:53What? What do you call them again?
- 17:55Marcus, OH. My God.
- 18:00His name is Marcus. Marcus.
- 18:02Two s s at the end. I love it.
- 18:06And then a instead of AU. Wait, he's Mark?
- 18:09Like his full name is actually Marcus.
- 18:12No, it's not, is it? It probably isn't.
- 18:14I don't know. I don't.
- 18:16Think or I don't know, you know, you know more.
- 18:19It's Mark. It's Mark with AC and normally
- 18:23that's short for Marcus I feel like.
- 18:26True, true, true, but it's Mark ass.
- 18:28Marcus, you heard it here first. We were.
- 18:33Actually going to read our score horoscopes.
- 18:36Read it. OK, let's hear it.
- 18:38Let's see. Yeah.
- 18:39It's your safe for. Today, where are you?
- 18:41Reading yours off of. Well, I just sent you the link I
- 18:45went to. Where should we read it from?
- 18:46I went to horoscope.com. That's fine.
- 18:48OK, I'm going to horoscope.com. I'll read mine, you read yours,
- 18:52and then we'll read Shauna's Perfect together in
- 18:55synchronization. Cute.
- 18:59OK, so mine May 27th. Oh yeah, we just told our
- 19:03listeners what day it is. Just kidding.
- 19:05If you're hearing this, it's the first time ever and we recorded
- 19:07this morning or whatever time of the day it is for you when you
- 19:10hear this. OK, so it says you will most
- 19:13likely for all the oh fucking ads.
- 19:16Oh, I found it. OK, you will most likely be
- 19:18hungry for attention. Facts Today Libra, you will look
- 19:24at others who are on center stage and adjust your appearance
- 19:27or attitude in order to be more like them.
- 19:30Be careful of getting obsessed with attention.
- 19:33The key, The key is to be yourself and happy regardless of
- 19:38who's watching. A flower and scene balloons just
- 19:40as beautifully and smells just as sweet.
- 19:43See, like sometimes I feel like I don't always know what that
- 19:45means other than like, OK, don't be the center of attention.
- 19:48Interpretation. Yeah.
- 19:49So like, what does that mean though?
- 19:53Just just don't seek out attention then.
- 19:55I guess and like Bloom. Quietly.
- 19:58Yes. OK.
- 19:59Give the spotlight back to Shawna.
- 20:01Got it, Got it. OK.
- 20:03No, no, I'm not saying that. Let's hear Dusty's, Yeah.
- 20:06What's yours, Dusty? All right, so mine says today
- 20:10can be a wonderful, productive day for you, Virgo.
- 20:13If you learn how to compromise, if you insist on doing things
- 20:17your way only, you will run into difficult emotional conflicts.
- 20:21Realize that this can easily be avoided by joining hands with
- 20:25your partner and working together toward a common goal.
- 20:28There's a great deal of energy here, so don't waste it on
- 20:30something insignificant. That felt very good one.
- 20:34Yeah, like very wisdom in there. It's actually what I needed to
- 20:39read. Yeah.
- 20:40Two hours ago when I was like, I hope they cancelled tonight, I.
- 20:46Feel like staying? Home.
- 20:48It is a cozy day, I won't lie. Yeah.
- 20:51See. Get on the couch.
- 20:53Are you going to join hands with me?
- 20:56Yes, All right. Yes, let's hear it.
- 20:58This is so lame. Let's join hands.
- 21:05What were you going to say before I said that though?
- 21:09I don't know. OK, well, OK, well, now we're
- 21:16working together towards a common goal.
- 21:18On that, let's read Sean is I'm. Excited.
- 21:23Goddamn stupid, that's what I get for going to like free ones
- 21:28because. Of yeah, the ads.
- 21:29Yeah, OK, so today, Pisces, you feel confident.
- 21:36People can't help but notice as you radiate a loving, peaceful,
- 21:39calm. Pisces, that's really nice.
- 21:41Yeah, eyes will turn your way and complete strangers may come
- 21:46up to you and tell you how attractive you are.
- 21:49Oh, OK. Be confident, all right?
- 21:52I love that. I love that ending.
- 21:55Be confident yet humble. And you will inspire people just
- 21:58by your peaceful, glowing presence.
- 22:01Take advantage of this wonderful day by enjoying yourself as a
- 22:04beautiful person you are. Hey, these are so affirming.
- 22:07I know I love it. Like that's so sweet.
- 22:09They are. I love that.
- 22:12OK, spot on. Yeah, but you're saying you
- 22:14don't read your horoscope? I don't usually so I would say I
- 22:17don't usually read my. I went through a phase where I
- 22:20read my horoscope a lot and usually it was pretty spot on
- 22:23and then lately I haven't read it as much.
- 22:26I feel like for a while I switched more to like my tarot
- 22:29cards cuz doing like a daily check in draw.
- 22:33I would like close my eyes, meditate a little bit and then
- 22:36pull a card. Like for either a check in of
- 22:39the day and just do A1 card pull or I do a no grow let go pull,
- 22:43which is a three card pull. Something I need to know,
- 22:45something I need to grow, something I need to let go.
- 22:47And I did a lot of like journaling around that time just
- 22:50to kind of check in. And it was crazy how spot on my
- 22:53tarot cards would be. There was a few times remember I
- 22:58would draw a card and I'd be like, that doesn't seem right,
- 23:00and I'd reshuffle and then I'd literally draw the same card so
- 23:03she knows her stuff. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:06So I would say tarot probably more than horoscope is more what
- 23:10I have used for like guidance day-to-day.
- 23:14So also just meditation too. Oh.
- 23:16That's so cool. So like you're saying so today,
- 23:19so or like what do you do? Like do you still do?
- 23:21That I don't always. Lately I have been out of my
- 23:24tarot practice, but I feel like it's like connection to the
- 23:29source is kind of what I think of it as.
- 23:31It's like connection to the spirit or connection to the
- 23:33source. I do find I get that through
- 23:35meditation, which Chris and I usually do a morning meditation
- 23:39and just set intentions. Like right when we get up, we
- 23:42usually do a Wim Hof breathing exercise, which you basically
- 23:46make yourself hyperventilate. It's a lot of times they're
- 23:48like, I don't want to do this. And then we sit in silence
- 23:51afterwards and just like focus on our goals or focus on like
- 23:55how we want the day to shape. And that's been really, really
- 23:58good for me just to like center and set my intentions right off
- 24:02the bat. Occasionally I'll still like
- 24:04dabble in my tarot cards, but this season I haven't felt the
- 24:08need to do that as much. I don't know if that's just cuz
- 24:11I feel more balanced or more confident with where I'm at, but
- 24:14I feel like in times where I was feeling a little lost, Tara was
- 24:18a great tool for me to check in and kind of see I would know
- 24:23where I'm at. But it's nice when the cards
- 24:25also tell you where they're. At it almost feels like like
- 24:30self not affirming, but what's the word like validating?
- 24:33Yeah, yeah, definitely. Or sometimes it calls you out.
- 24:37Yeah. So yeah, either way, it's like,
- 24:38oof, I needed to hear that. You know, I remember last time
- 24:41that we were all out together, which was like almost a year ago
- 24:44in October, you had you and Chris had mentioned that like,
- 24:49OK, so when you're meditating or maybe doing your, or I don't
- 24:53know, at one point, maybe it's during graffirmations, but like
- 24:56Chris will pray, right? And then you're meditating, or
- 25:00both of you meditate together? We both meditate together and
- 25:02then one of us will do a prayer at the end.
- 25:04Yeah, so we do a daily prayer too.
- 25:06Yeah. And I really just, I thought it
- 25:08was really both interesting and also really like how much you
- 25:12both just, like, accept each other, how like yours.
- 25:17I think he was saying that like, when he finishes his prayer, you
- 25:20know, he's like, I don't want to get it this wrong.
- 25:23Yeah. I think he's Christian, right?
- 25:24Like he's like maybe Amen or something.
- 25:26Yeah, it's funny 'cause he says God and I say universe.
- 25:29Yeah, like the same we're talking about.
- 25:31It's interesting 'cause he'll say like, dear God, thank you
- 25:34for the say. He's not necessarily Christian.
- 25:36He wouldn't say he's Christian, but he's very open to whatever
- 25:39that divine spirit is. And that's the same thing I feel
- 25:43I'm connected to. And so it's interesting,
- 25:45whatever you want to call it, like the greater unknown.
- 25:49But yeah, it's funny. When I pray, I say dear
- 25:51universe. Yeah.
- 25:53And I thought that was so cool though, like how you're saying
- 25:57that and he's saying for sure, you know something else.
- 26:00And so maybe like when or I'm curious like when you guys were
- 26:05first dating or as you were dating in general, like, and
- 26:08maybe that topic came up because I think that's pretty true for a
- 26:10lot of people that they're kind of looking for someone with
- 26:12similar values. For sure.
- 26:14And it was like, OK, so for you and your connection to the
- 26:18universe again, like when we say universe, we're talking about or
- 26:22are we? I don't know, so clarify this
- 26:24for me. When you're saying universe, are
- 26:26you talking about some type of divine connection?
- 26:29Yes, OK, Yes, OK. And.
- 26:31That could be whatever and whatever.
- 26:33Religion. Yes, whatever religion you wanna
- 26:34call it. I think it's all the same thing.
- 26:37That's kind of I think it's that's.
- 26:38Kind of what I call the source, it's kind of what everyone, it's
- 26:42like that thing that everyone believes in that mysticism
- 26:46that's out there. And, and yeah, I think
- 26:48definitely when we first were dating, we had a very shared
- 26:52like vision with a lot of life things and also just both being
- 26:55like very open artistic people. I think there was just that
- 26:59natural click because I'm very open and I was very much, I felt
- 27:05like with Chris, it was the first relationship.
- 27:07I was truly like, this is who I am, you know, I wasn't trying to
- 27:11be a certain way or trying to diminish things.
- 27:15I was like, this is me. Like, hope you like it, you
- 27:18know, And that was such a beautiful, freeing place for me
- 27:22to be in a relationship, to just like truly be myself and then be
- 27:25accepted and loved for that. And I hope everyone can find
- 27:28something like that. Yeah, someday, because it's a
- 27:32very special connection. Yeah.
- 27:34And he's very like open and he had done tarot and he was doing
- 27:38starting his tarot deck, which he should be completing by
- 27:41November. He has a publishing deal for a
- 27:43tarot deck, so he's been working on that, and he was working on
- 27:45that before we even got together.
- 27:47I didn't know that. I thought it was kind of pretty
- 27:49recent, like maybe 3. Years ago, yeah.
- 27:50Well, he he started with the Major Arcana and completed those
- 27:55during COVID and then after that he didn't ever think he would do
- 28:00a full deck. But then the publisher reached
- 28:02out like a year and a half ago and.
- 28:04Oh, when he got in the book. It was after that, yeah.
- 28:07So he got in the book, he was published in a witchcraft book
- 28:10for his Hecatee piece, and then lady actually found his tarot
- 28:14stuff on Pinterest and reached out to him.
- 28:18It's from US Games and System, so it's like the OG tarot deck
- 28:22publisher. So it was a big deal.
- 28:24Yeah. And he's like, I mean, I, I
- 28:26always thought about doing a deck, but he wanted the the
- 28:28value of it to be there. So the publishing deal kind of
- 28:32gave him that extra push. So it's been really fun to watch
- 28:34him go through that journey too, and really try to like stick to
- 28:37the meaning of each card, but also his own spin on it.
- 28:41So it's been a fun journey, but I feel like we both were very
- 28:44open in a lot of those ways. So yeah, that was it was easy to
- 28:48connect. Yeah, As he's been going kind of
- 28:52through that, do you feel like, you know, you're cuz you're
- 28:55saying like you you would do tarot yourself in the mornings
- 28:58that like you got to even like maybe learn more?
- 29:01Or dive. Yeah, definitely, definitely.
- 29:03Because he's been doing a lot of research with each card and then
- 29:06just intuitively kind of figuring out the messages he
- 29:09wants to portray. So it's been, it's been fun for
- 29:11me to watch him go through that process too.
- 29:13It's been really beautiful. Oh, so curious, what is this?
- 29:21Saturn in reverse or Saturn in return?
- 29:24That's what it's really. Called Saturn in return.
- 29:26Or like Mercury in retrograde, All these things.
- 29:30Yes, I think the planets affect us a lot.
- 29:35I mean, they move the tide in the ocean.
- 29:37So the fact that people say they don't affect us, I don't believe
- 29:41that. I think they have a very strong
- 29:44pool. I always feel a little bit of
- 29:46the chaotic full moon energy. Mercury in retrograde doesn't
- 29:50always have to be a negative thing.
- 29:52I think a lot of people think it's a negative thing, but I
- 29:55think it can also that energy can also be used for good.
- 30:00I just think you have to be aware some stuff might pop off
- 30:04during Mercury retrograde. Just chaotic energy, but it's
- 30:09up. I mean, it's dependent on your
- 30:11sign. It's dependent on, I think a lot
- 30:13of people just think, oh, Mercury retrograde's awful,
- 30:15everything's going to go wrong. But that's not always the case.
- 30:17So it's really dependent. I want to know more, even more
- 30:22because I, I, I know some, but I know I know nothing.
- 30:26Yeah, I would like to know even more about those things because
- 30:30I do think they affect us. And I, I sometimes feel it and I
- 30:33don't even know what's really going on.
- 30:35And then when I research it, I'm like, Oh my gosh, this is
- 30:37happening planetarily, so it makes sense.
- 30:41So then I dumb question and no, there's.
- 30:43No dumb questions. So you know, I just categorize
- 30:49it all as witchy things respectfully yes, because I
- 30:52value which is a lot. I wish I was a witch yes.
- 30:56I just don't really get into, I guess horoscopes, astrology,
- 31:00like how metaphysical metaphysical.
- 31:03OK, that was. So I was going to ask is like,
- 31:06does that then you know also contain the planet stuff too?
- 31:11Or like, are you saying like there's still kind of levels to
- 31:13this? I think there's levels.
- 31:15I think there's levels. I think for me, my connection
- 31:20like started as a kid again with like the intuitive stuff and
- 31:24then also spending a ton of time in nature.
- 31:26I just feel like that connection is very strong with me.
- 31:32I feel like, I feel like the spirit of that has always been
- 31:36in me. And so there's things that I'm
- 31:39naturally drawn to, like tarot planet stuff, astrology, you
- 31:44know, I, I feel that pole to those things.
- 31:46And so I think it's always been there.
- 31:48It's just how much you cultivate it.
- 31:51Not in everyone necessarily. I don't think that's everyone's
- 31:53journey, but I think for me, I've always felt that from a
- 31:56young age of like that connection and that divine
- 32:00spirit, I guess. OK.
- 32:02I like, I have another question. Where do chakras come into this?
- 32:07Like is that part of this or is that not?
- 32:09Or is that like one of those, honestly?
- 32:11It can be, there's so much to the the world of the
- 32:14metaphysical chakras. For a while I would do like
- 32:18chakra balancing meditations. I've also had a Reiki session
- 32:23done which is where they like balance your chakras.
- 32:28That's like the massages. Too Right.
- 32:29Yeah, so she didn't it wasn't they do have chakra healing like
- 32:34massage or energy work massage. The lady who did my Reiki didn't
- 32:39actually touch me at all. She was just doing like energy
- 32:42work and like she had a whole crystal room and it's this
- 32:45little pyramid I sat in. It was really cool.
- 32:47I was kind of nervous and it was interesting.
- 32:51It was interesting. It definitely like brought up
- 32:54some things that I thought I had like already healed like
- 32:57physically and mentally. So sometimes I think there's
- 33:01traumas that are, I do think trauma is stored in our bodies
- 33:05and a lot of times we're not even conscious of it.
- 33:07And so I think some of those things can bring that to the
- 33:10surface to like unlock another level of healing.
- 33:13That's kind of how I think of it.
- 33:14But it's always intense. It's always intense as long as
- 33:19you're open to it. I think you have to be open to
- 33:21it though. Yeah.
- 33:22Have you ever had your chakras realigned or no?
- 33:26I have not done that. I I find chakras super.
- 33:31I don't no, I'm not, but I find like something about chakras
- 33:35really interesting. Like I it has to do right.
- 33:39Like yes, the healing part with with all the crystals.
- 33:42I don't know much about crystals.
- 33:44My little sister used to be really into everything.
- 33:47I think she kind of still is, but she has right like if we
- 33:51were talking about like a divine connection, she's kind of gotten
- 33:55more into we were raised Catholic, so she's kind of gone
- 33:59more that side. And I think like some religions
- 34:01to the metaphysical look. I'm learning, I guess, like look
- 34:07down upon it from like, Oh, it's not a good thing to do that
- 34:11because like, I guess it could seem like predicting because
- 34:14tarot can seem like it's predicting futures and and we
- 34:17shouldn't be looking into the future in that perspective of
- 34:21that. It's predicting stuff because I
- 34:25don't know, I think it has to do with the fact that you have to
- 34:27trust God or what have you. But I mean, at the end of the
- 34:31day, that tarot is like, I mean, the end of the day, I think it's
- 34:36like, it happens. Yeah, you can use it.
- 34:37How? How you feel drawn to.
- 34:40And I think no matter if you're Catholic, Christian, whatever
- 34:43religion you are, I think it could still be used as a tool.
- 34:46It just depends on what you want to do with it, you know?
- 34:48Yeah, but it definitely is looked down upon, I think from a
- 34:51lot of religions. Yeah, yeah.
- 34:53And I've always thought that was pretty interesting that it was
- 34:55looked down upon. But like, I don't know,
- 34:58something about chakras has and I don't know if it's maybe it's
- 35:02because of like the fact that I'm Libra, I'm not huge into
- 35:05astrology, but like I've been challenged a lot because at
- 35:11first I would be like, Nah, I don't think like the planets
- 35:14really affect us, right? But like.
- 35:17Your logical brain. Yeah, yeah.
- 35:20But scientifically, they do affect the ocean.
- 35:23And then a friend of mine was like, which Dakota?
- 35:28He's he's more straight to the point and his personality is
- 35:34like that, which I admire. Like I think I'm like that.
- 35:38A lot of my friends are like that, But he was like, dude,
- 35:41like we're 80% water. Like it's stupid of you too.
- 35:44So he would be like, that's fucking stupid of you to not
- 35:47think that. And then I was like, you know
- 35:49what, you're fucking right, You're right.
- 35:52Like, and that made me kind of go like, but you're right,
- 35:55that's true. So I don't know.
- 35:58And I think like because of that, that part, that comment, I
- 36:02don't know, I just something about chakra is just because you
- 36:04see the image, right? And it's like all these things
- 36:07aligned and then like a person. It reminds me of the planets, I
- 36:10guess in a way to me. And so I don't know anything
- 36:14about it. I just find a lot of like truth
- 36:17to it. And I do like to meditate.
- 36:19So I don't know enough again about it, but I like to meditate
- 36:24and before like for a while I was like in a good habit where I
- 36:28was meditating every night mostly till I could go to sleep.
- 36:31Yeah, because it's really helpful.
- 36:32It really is. Yeah, but then also, like, I
- 36:35started meditating because of my anxiety, but then then I started
- 36:39to switch to doing it at night and I really liked it.
- 36:41And again, I just kind of kept thinking of like the chakra
- 36:44stuff. So I was just kind of curious if
- 36:46that was part of that space. It is and it isn't.
- 36:49I mean, it's all, I think it's all kind of connected, but I
- 36:52think like that's awesome that you're drawn to that
- 36:55specifically. I think that's interesting.
- 36:57Yeah, I don't know. What the heck?
- 36:59Also, when I first was meditating, there is a guy on
- 37:03YouTube named Jason Stevenson and I really his voice is just
- 37:07very soothing and I think he does have some chakra aligning
- 37:11meditations. So you like visualize colors as
- 37:15you're meditating and you do kind of like the body scans.
- 37:17I don't know if you've done those before.
- 37:18Yeah, I have, and I really like. Those, I love those meditations.
- 37:22Yeah. So those are really cool to kind
- 37:24of align with the chakras. Is chakras like Buddhist stuff
- 37:29or no? Aren't they?
- 37:32Like maybe? I think it is.
- 37:34I think it's, I think it is. I think it's kind of to do with
- 37:37that, yeah. Cuz I did think about it like
- 37:40when we talk to the monks and stuff and they just be like
- 37:43telling us stuff about us. Yeah, without like, I'm like, I
- 37:47don't know you dude. I know all this stuff.
- 37:50I know you like. That yeah, yeah.
- 37:52But then they're like right and stuff a lot of times.
- 37:54So I'm wondering if they're just reading or chakras or what.
- 38:00Yeah, I think there's definitely people like blessed with that
- 38:02gift of like tapping into our source, Yeah.
- 38:07And just reading and feeling things energetically.
- 38:10Yeah, that's what I also feel very drawn to, like the Buddhist
- 38:14religion. Like I feel, well, I again, I
- 38:18grew up Catholic. I really don't have any bad
- 38:19experience with it. I liked it a lot.
- 38:22I just think that there's so many ways that people talk about
- 38:29some type of divine thing that I feel like there's truths to just
- 38:35about everything because like I feel like affirmations are
- 38:39really praying. Like that's kind of what that
- 38:41is, you know, like you're doing affirmations, that's praying.
- 38:45Meditation can to some degree even be praying, like when
- 38:48you're doing certain elements from that.
- 38:50And like even tarot itself. I mean, the part of like
- 38:57learning about yourself or reading or like learning what
- 39:00this thing means from this deck or card or whatever it's called,
- 39:05right? Like there's some wisdom there
- 39:08that there's something from some page in or proverb or whatever
- 39:13that has some wisdom there, you know?
- 39:15Yeah. And I don't know, I, I just
- 39:17find, but like what I, what I really like about the Buddhist
- 39:21religion is I think like, right, Like there isn't this belief of
- 39:26heaven or hell, but it's like this, you're chasing like this
- 39:28euphoria or something like that. And like, or at least that's
- 39:32what kind of friends have described it as.
- 39:34And I don't know, that just seems so peaceful.
- 39:38Like there's something about peace that seems like comforting
- 39:43from that where like some other religion, sometimes they I see
- 39:49more like it's the sinning part that has a higher focus.
- 39:53Like, don't do this, don't do that, whatever.
- 39:54It's very black and white. Yeah, yeah.
- 39:56And I don't know, it's, it's really not like most of life is
- 39:59not in a lot of the things that are in the Bible or whatever,
- 40:02Like it's not black and white. All those things are not black
- 40:06and white either. So it's just I don't know.
- 40:09I find it like the the Buddhist religion too because I feel like
- 40:12it. It almost like gives the power
- 40:14back to yourself instead of, I mean, obviously you're kind of
- 40:19like detaching and letting go and you know, experiencing all
- 40:21these things. But I think it is more like a, a
- 40:25personal internal journey of discovery and like creating that
- 40:30enlightenment within yourself, which I think it's beautiful.
- 40:34You know, whereas some religions it's a lot more emphasis on like
- 40:36you have to be this way to do this to get into heaven or hell
- 40:39or, you know, what have you, Like you said, very black and
- 40:41white. So I do I there are things with
- 40:43the Buddhist religion that I definitely appreciate and kind
- 40:46of connect with as well. So.
- 40:48Yeah, I would say that was something that confused me
- 40:51growing up in a Buddhist household.
- 40:54But then learning Western culture and, you know, going to
- 40:59school and stuff and people talking about God, we say the
- 41:04Pledge of Allegiance every day. And then like, they're like, oh,
- 41:07and seeing on TV and stuff like, oh, this is wrong, this is
- 41:10right. But then I'm like, in our
- 41:14household, we were just kind of taught, hey, that's bad.
- 41:16Don't do it. This is good.
- 41:18Act this way. You'll be straight.
- 41:21And I think that's kind of how Buddhism kind of is Like, hey,
- 41:24just be a good person, be a good human, and don't worry about
- 41:29doing the bad stuff. If, if, if the if it happens, it
- 41:33happens. And just keep trying to be good
- 41:36and improve yourself and everything around you.
- 41:39Yeah. It's kind of the.
- 41:40Just I think like the energy. You put out the energy.
- 41:43You put out, that comes back to you in a lot of ways.
- 41:46And I, I think that definitely rings true in my life of just
- 41:48like where you're kind of vibrating at whether you've like
- 41:52done the work or you're currently working at it.
- 41:54I think like a lot of good things can be attracted back
- 41:57into your life when you're vibrating at that level.
- 42:00So yeah, like being a good person, it's like good people
- 42:03will be drawn to you, you know, And I do believe that.
- 42:06Yeah. So I also like that part of like
- 42:08it sounds very forgiving and I think that's something that most
- 42:15western or like I'm cuz I'm thinking now of like just like
- 42:19our like I'm going further into our criminal justice system and
- 42:25how like we're just not a forgiving culture western wise.
- 42:30And then, like, you kind of look at other criminal justice
- 42:32systems and like across the ocean and maybe not all of them,
- 42:37maybe not all of them. Like, I'm probably, yeah, yeah,
- 42:39yeah, I should probably say like.
- 42:41Knocked up abroad? Not certain continents, not
- 42:44certain continents, but like just kind of the way that they
- 42:49do reform and the way that maybe they are able to.
- 42:53I don't want to say the word forgive, but that's kind of what
- 42:56I'm saying. Like for a layman's term, a
- 43:00simpler way to say it, like it's OK, you paid for the thing, you
- 43:04did the time and now you're trying to re enter society and
- 43:10you know, they're not necessarily supportive right
- 43:13away, but rather at least more of like open to you doing that.
- 43:17Where here it's like, well, you did this, you did that, and it's
- 43:21really hard for them to get a job. 100%.
- 43:23And so I don't know, like, I think like what you're saying
- 43:26right there or what you just said around, like, you know,
- 43:28Shay, if you did something bad, I mean, focus on being a good
- 43:31person, How can you continue to do better?
- 43:33How can you like it? I feel like that type of
- 43:35message, two people as they're continuing to grow up and go
- 43:41through life, it's also this part of like, we are not our
- 43:44worst selves, right? Like if we walked around with
- 43:47the worst thing that we ever did and that was on our forehead,
- 43:50like the way that people would perceive we would perceive each
- 43:53other would be so much. Different for sure.
- 43:56And you know, like there have been points where each of us
- 43:59have been not in the best character and you know, again,
- 44:05back to doing the work you did the work to better yourself or
- 44:10however you defined that, right? Like maybe some people did the
- 44:13opposite end of the work, which that attracted different things
- 44:17for sure. And then other people did, you
- 44:20know, a different work to continue to improve that, you
- 44:23know, that's not who they are Like that was just like them at
- 44:27a moment of strife, really. I mean, sometimes, right?
- 44:31Like. I think we could all give
- 44:33ourselves and others more grace. Yeah, that's like, I think
- 44:36that's it too, Grace. And like, that's what it is.
- 44:38Giving yourself grace for the mistakes you've made, giving
- 44:41others grace because they're making mistakes.
- 44:43Like we're all human. And so I think having the space
- 44:45to give yourself grace and realize like we're going to make
- 44:49mistakes, but we'll learn and grow from them.
- 44:50And like, I think that's the most important part is taking it
- 44:54to the next level. Yeah, after whatever you go
- 44:56through, you know, even grief, it's the same thing.
- 44:58Yeah. It's like you can be in a really
- 45:00dark place, but then like, how can we make something beautiful
- 45:03out of this? Yeah, for sure.
- 45:07I don't know that I have the best way to transition us into.
- 45:10AI got it is 111 thing that I did want to ask earlier, though,
- 45:13that you kind of struggled back around to with with the grief is
- 45:17because I did. I have a friend who did have a
- 45:20parent recently passed away and their other parent had been
- 45:24passed away. So and they're going through a
- 45:29rough time right now, of course. So was there anything you for
- 45:32each of you that like helped with your grief?
- 45:37Like as far as like what you got like from your friends or like?
- 45:42Was there anything like any friends did that like kind of
- 45:44made things better? I think.
- 45:48I think, I think for me, because I was so young, I didn't really
- 45:54express that to my friends. Like I feel like I kind of
- 45:58avoided it for a long time and just kind of suppressed that.
- 46:01So when I finally did, I felt like it was a very like lonely
- 46:04journey. So I think and grief is just
- 46:08kind of a lonely journey in general, but I think just trying
- 46:11to be there to listen or you know, support I think is the
- 46:16best thing you could do cuz I didn't really have that.
- 46:19So I don't really know how to advise on how best to be there
- 46:23for someone. But I think like, you know,
- 46:24talking with you, it was like just being heard with someone
- 46:27who understands like that is a like that is a good feeling,
- 46:31even though I would never wish that on somebody just that like
- 46:35understanding and care and love, I would say.
- 46:38Yeah, for sure. I think like, yeah, I would
- 46:41agree with that. Like I people don't or want to
- 46:47avoid it right or don't know what to say or afraid to say the
- 46:50wrong or the right thing or want to say the right thing, but
- 46:53there really isn't a right thing.
- 46:55Like, there is nothing really that you can say.
- 46:58But like, that doesn't mean leave me alone, you know?
- 47:01Because I think that's what people think.
- 47:03It's like, they're like, oh, they're going through this
- 47:04thing, Leave them alone. Yeah.
- 47:07But like, no, like, I feel like that's when you really need
- 47:09people. I think.
- 47:11Like, that's one part of the anger, at least for my own
- 47:15grief, where it was like if a certain friend who I felt very
- 47:20close to just distant themself more, I would just be like,
- 47:25well, why? Like do you not care or whatever
- 47:27you know and like. Like we need loved harder.
- 47:30Yeah, yeah, One of my not distance.
- 47:32Yeah. One of my good friends, another
- 47:34friend of ours asked her like how I was doing and she was like
- 47:39talk to her. Like where?
- 47:40Why are you asking me? Yeah, and and, and like 1 like I
- 47:46really appreciated that. So like also you be that for
- 47:48your friends, right? Like that or not reaching out to
- 47:50them because everyone's afraid to.
- 47:53And sometimes you don't even need to talk about the topic.
- 47:55It's just like being there because I think you do go into a
- 47:58kind of darker space, especially like I can't imagine they
- 48:02probably are feeling. I mean, losing 2 parents, I
- 48:05cannot even imagine that, right. Like that's harder ever.
- 48:08Like all of it is hard regardless, all of it is hard
- 48:12for sure. So I think like sometimes some
- 48:15sometimes friends would just like come and sit with me at
- 48:17home and watch a movie with me. Like that was really nice.
- 48:22Just like little things like that.
- 48:24I think that that's all that really matters is that you just
- 48:27don't let yourself get caught up in the, I guess like in the
- 48:33everyday because it's so easy to, but don't let yourself get
- 48:36caught up in the being afraid of what to say because there's
- 48:40there's not much all you really are just gonna be there.
- 48:45Cool, sounds good. I made this chicken soup
- 48:47yesterday. Aw.
- 48:49Mostly because. That's a really.
- 48:52Mostly because they were hungover.
- 48:55That's so sweet. What do you think?
- 48:56That's even better. Yeah.
- 48:58Even better. Yeah.
- 49:00Really. They're like let's go get
- 49:02something to eat. And I was like everything is
- 49:04like closed today bud cuz it's Memorial Day.
- 49:06Yeah. Well, I was like, you know what,
- 49:09if you're hungover, I it's kind of chilly outside, I'm going to
- 49:13make some soup. So.
- 49:14Nice. He like napped and then texted
- 49:18back. It's like, hey, you up because I
- 49:20made some food for us. No, that's great.
- 49:23That's perfect. Yeah.
- 49:25Yeah. And also, you're a great cook.
- 49:27You've never had his food. His food is delicious.
- 49:30Be on the lookout because I have an idea for the pod.
- 49:33OK, Yeah. It'll be fun.
- 49:35Yeah, and that's who makes How Good Food.
- 49:37Yeah, there will be food there. That's great.
- 49:39That's all your friends need, honestly.
- 49:41I said anything but yeah, there'll be.
- 49:43Food there. Speaking of food, but we don't
- 49:45have food for you. We have a drink for you.
- 49:46Let's take a quick break so we can get ready for that perfect
- 49:50sounds. Good.
- 49:52Thanks for the copy Emily, I really needed it.
- 49:55No problem, we got a hurry because we're always.
- 49:57Late. Oh no.
- 49:58The lights turning red. No.
- 50:01Oh man, there's copy everywhere. Where are the napkins?
- 50:04Don't worry about it, we can just go ahead and I'll schedule
- 50:06with two U auto. They'll come to where we're at
- 50:08and then they'll clean it while we're at the wedding.
- 50:10OK, you drive I'll schedule with two U auto.
- 50:13What's the website? Go to 2uauto.com.
- 50:16Wait, what was it again? The number 2.
- 50:19The letter U auto.com. Perfect.
- 50:38And we're back. That was the best ever.
- 50:45I don't know. I ain't no rapper.
- 50:46I'm a DJ. Well, I'm not a bartender, but I
- 50:50pretend to be 1. And today we're making a skinny
- 50:54blueberry Margarita for the very our very own Shauna.
- 50:59So, you know, that's the sound of the beautiful tequila.
- 51:03Coffee as always. OK, I can't lie.
- 51:07I'm not a good liar. We made it before.
- 51:10I was going to say, this drink looks really familiar.
- 51:14Does it? Does it kind of?
- 51:16Does it remind you of Sergio's? Is that why?
- 51:19I don't remember whose, but with the color and the fruit choice I
- 51:24was like, I feel like I've had this one before but I don't
- 51:27know. Well, mostly I did the she
- 51:30wanted a skinny Margarita. But like the skinny margaritas,
- 51:34you know, we're just orange juice and lime and yeah, cuz you
- 51:37know, we're being skinny, but I have blueberries at home and
- 51:42they were really good and ripe. So I was like, we're going to
- 51:45add blueberries in here. So we're, we had to muddle some
- 51:48blueberries in there and add like 1.5 ounces of tequila, you
- 51:53know which right now I'm pouring some.
- 51:55Oh, you didn't hear? It.
- 52:00But mostly pouring some for the shop and then .5 ounces of lime
- 52:07juice and then match that same measurement for the orange juice
- 52:15and a little bit of light agave syrup.
- 52:20And that got us to our Margarita that we're currently having.
- 52:27But I just actually poured a shot.
- 52:29All right, So are we taking the shot first or drinking or are we
- 52:35getting to know whether or not this drink?
- 52:37Would actually take a drink of your drink for Shawna and tell
- 52:40us how it is. Yeah.
- 52:42All right. Thank You, Beautiful Fanny.
- 52:45You're welcome. Lovely drink.
- 52:47Let me test it out. That's very good.
- 52:53Yeah, 10 out of 10. Does it feel skinny?
- 52:56It does feel skinny. The blueberries are a nice
- 52:59touch. Yeah, It's very refreshing.
- 53:01It feels like a summer drink. Oh good cuz I didn't know.
- 53:04Oh Memorial Day weekend I lied about the day again.
- 53:06If this is your first time hearing it, it's whatever day it
- 53:09is on your phone right now. Yes.
- 53:11It does taste good. Yes, it's very tasty.
- 53:14Big fan. If all skinny drinks were this
- 53:17good, then there would be no diabetes.
- 53:22Yes. You don't know how long I wanna
- 53:25take. He's been waiting.
- 53:27He's been waiting. I'm glad we could.
- 53:29I'm honored. Yeah, we could use it on.
- 53:30My show, my segment. Yes.
- 53:34Cuz we're finally trying to, you know, say no more sugar, raise
- 53:39awareness. Yeah.
- 53:40Although I did use simple syrup or coffee syrup, you know, But
- 53:44is that healthy? A little bit, yeah.
- 53:45That's healthier. Right.
- 53:46It's healthier than like I like a skinny Margarita cuz it's more
- 53:48refreshing cuz you don't have like all the additives of the
- 53:52Margarita mix. So like it takes away from the
- 53:54taste of the tequila. Yeah, for like, just like some
- 53:57fresh juices, a little agave. It's delicious.
- 54:01Yeah, yeah, yeah. I actually worked on squirting
- 54:06all of the juices out. I wondered if that was hand
- 54:09squeezed. It was all hand.
- 54:10I'm very impressed, yeah. Yeah, I'm sorry.
- 54:20Oh my God. Gross.
- 54:22OK, let's take the shot. That's time for the shot, I
- 54:24said. And that's our cute.
- 54:26Yes. OK.
- 54:27Cheers. Cheers.
- 54:28Clink, Clink. Thank you for coming, Mao.
- 54:34OK, the well the other thing we really wanted to talk about was
- 54:38Alchemy Studios because you have launched a solo studio.
- 54:43I have. And so tell us a little bit
- 54:46about that. What made you finally like take
- 54:48the leap into opening something? I've been thinking about it for
- 54:52a while. It was actually, it's so funny
- 54:56because this Mother's Day was a year like date anniversary from
- 55:03when I first decided. So last Mother's Day, not this
- 55:07past one, but the one before we were in Colorado and we went to
- 55:12at the concert at Red Rocks and we were staying with my friend,
- 55:15some of our close friends in Colorado, and her mom was
- 55:18actually the Reiki lady. So that's the weekend I had my
- 55:20Reiki done. And it was just such a beautiful
- 55:22weekend filled with just like the best people and like all the
- 55:26motherly love and good energy. And for some reason, just that
- 55:30weekend, I was just like, it's like, I have to like, I don't
- 55:34know what sheltered for me. I've been thinking about it for
- 55:37a while, but that was like the weekend that I was like, I'm
- 55:39doing this. Yeah.
- 55:40And I remember, like, setting that intention.
- 55:42So it was really awesome this Mother's Day to look back, like
- 55:47this Mother's Day weekend, to look back and, like, see
- 55:49everything come to fruition because there was a lot of,
- 55:51like, worries about, like, how it's going to go and how it was
- 55:54going to be received and all of that.
- 55:57And so, yeah, I'm very proud of myself.
- 56:00Yeah. I love being independent.
- 56:01I think like it comes to a point where you want to just be your
- 56:03own boss. So for me, I am very grateful
- 56:07for my time that I had at Planet Hair.
- 56:08There was a lot of like learning and growth from the people
- 56:11there, but I felt like I was I, I need to keep growing and I
- 56:15felt a little bit stagnant for a while.
- 56:17And so it got to the point where I was just ready to take that
- 56:21leap. Yeah, yeah.
- 56:22Cuz I just, I have, if there's a ceiling, I I don't do well with
- 56:26that. Yeah, I need to like, what's the
- 56:28next thing, you know, like how can we build?
- 56:30How can we grow? So I had been at my last job
- 56:34working for my old bosses for almost a decade, so I was ready.
- 56:38Yeah, yeah. No, that's that.
- 56:41Wait, did you wear a plant here the full time?
- 56:43Yes. Wow, that.
- 56:44Was my one and only that's so I was straight from school.
- 56:46I started there on the weekend of my 19th birthday.
- 56:49That's. Good.
- 56:50My age away and then, yeah, I was there for almost 10 years.
- 56:54Wow. So it was a solid place to grow
- 56:58and build my clientele and like being in one place for my whole
- 57:01career was great. Just because people would
- 57:04sometimes leave Wichita and come back and they're like, you're
- 57:06still here. I'm like, yeah, I'm here.
- 57:08Yeah, I think it was better sleep.
- 57:10It was. It was, I think, though I had
- 57:12been ready for a while there. You know, there's a lot of
- 57:16things that aren't in your control when you're working for
- 57:19someone else. And I didn't realize how much of
- 57:21A control freak I am until I had the opportunity to be in control
- 57:25of everything and my own schedule and just reap all the
- 57:28benefits of working really hard. Because I don't I I'm OK with
- 57:31the hustle, but I want to feel like I'm reaping the benefits of
- 57:34that. So I definitely do now.
- 57:36Nice. So what's the right because like
- 57:40the market, right, that's what it's called where you're at
- 57:42there's. Studios on market?
- 57:43Yeah. So it's now essentially like a
- 57:47beauty entrepreneur space, which is really cool.
- 57:51What's the difference between like learning from other beauty
- 57:54experts in the industry to like, you know, when you were in
- 57:56Planet Harry? I mean kind of similar, but not
- 57:58really, right. I mean like similar in to like
- 58:00there's different people in different chairs or owning
- 58:03different booths, yes. And now you guys are all owning
- 58:06your own studios, yes. But I think, I think definitely
- 58:11it's a lot. It's interesting because I
- 58:15thought there would be like a lot less community moving to my
- 58:17own studio just because it's not like a big open space.
- 58:21But I really do feel like there's even more of a sense of
- 58:23community with the people at the studios on market.
- 58:27And everyone is like just bossing it out, doing their own
- 58:29thing. So I love that I there, you
- 58:32know, there were some hard days where it's like, I just want to
- 58:34go to work and do my work and go home, you know, and I get over
- 58:39stimulated sometimes in an, in kind of a busy, chaotic
- 58:44environment. And so I think sometimes my last
- 58:46job would be like a little over stimulating for me.
- 58:48It'd be hard for me to focus on my work and focus on my client
- 58:51because there was a lot of just like noise in the background,
- 58:54like physically noise and just other people's conversations and
- 58:57tons of different people's energies.
- 58:59So I think being in a private space with my clients, I've
- 59:02noticed they feel a lot more free to tell me like all the
- 59:07things one of my girls is like, I don't need my therapist
- 59:10anymore. And I'm like, yes, you do stop
- 59:13going. But I feel like really honored
- 59:16that I, I'm able to provide a space that people feel
- 59:20comfortable in that could be like whatever they need it to
- 59:22be. You know, it's like the space is
- 59:25here, I'm here, it could be whatever you need.
- 59:27If you need to cry, I'm cool with it.
- 59:28If you want to laugh the whole time, I'm cool with it.
- 59:31If you just want to sit silently and get your hair done, I'm cool
- 59:33with it. So I really feel grateful to
- 59:35have a space for people like that because that's definitely
- 59:38something I always wanted and tried to provide, but it was
- 59:41just a little bit harder in my previous environment.
- 59:44Right, right. Yeah, has anybody actually cried
- 59:46in the? Chair Yeah, yeah, I've actually
- 59:49had several people just like full on.
- 59:51And I think it's like something about being in a private space
- 59:54where they feel comfortable and they know me.
- 59:56You know, a lot of my clients have come to me like almost
- 59:58since the very beginning. And then I have some newer ones
- 1:00:00as well that have found me. But yeah, I feel that.
- 1:00:04And then they're just like, I don't know why I'm crying and
- 1:00:06I'm like, it's all good. It's the space.
- 1:00:08Like it's, you know, that's what you need and that's OK.
- 1:00:11So that's been really special for me to have that experience
- 1:00:14with my clients. And also just be in a space
- 1:00:17that's all my own. I have my own artwork, I do my
- 1:00:19Pollyo Santo cleanse in the morning.
- 1:00:21I love it. I set the stage, I have my own
- 1:00:23music. So it's just, it really is
- 1:00:25perfect for me. I've been a lot happier in my
- 1:00:27own space. Yeah, So what is so Speaking of
- 1:00:31the space like, why alchemy? Why that name?
- 1:00:34So alchemy I think is. It was so hard to come up with a
- 1:00:38name, but I kept coming back to alchemy.
- 1:00:41Alchemy for me is just really like taking, it's like
- 1:00:46transmuting things into something else, right?
- 1:00:48It's like a chemical reaction. But for me, like on the more
- 1:00:52spiritual aspect of it, it's like taking everything that I've
- 1:00:55been through and all my experiences and like turning
- 1:00:57that into something beautiful. And also allowing that space
- 1:01:00also for other people to kind of like transform themselves within
- 1:01:06my chair. That doesn't happen with
- 1:01:07everyone, but I feel like a lot of the conversations I have with
- 1:01:09my clients are like very deep and you know, and healing for me
- 1:01:14and them. So alchemy for me was just like
- 1:01:17the. The.
- 1:01:22Just kind of where I've got to in my life, you know, like not
- 1:01:25refusing to let experiences and things that I've been through
- 1:01:28like define me and how I choose to walk in the world.
- 1:01:32So taking like pain and turning it into power.
- 1:01:35That's kind of like the message between with alchemy, so.
- 1:01:39That's sweet. Yeah, my hair stylist also
- 1:01:43recently switched to a studio and I feel like it's my office.
- 1:01:46Yeah, yeah. I have my own.
- 1:01:49I have. To bring working yeah like.
- 1:01:51I always joke with her. Yeah, I always joke with her.
- 1:01:53And I'm like, you know, I think like the ultimate setup is
- 1:01:57finally when you have a desk in here.
- 1:01:59Yeah, just for Fanny. Yeah, like, that's Fanny.
- 1:02:02Yeah. Like, honestly though, I feel
- 1:02:04like I'm not. I can't be the only one who
- 1:02:07still has to work through. Well, I mean, like, but my
- 1:02:09appointments are long. Sometimes it's like 5 hours,
- 1:02:12yes. Maybe.
- 1:02:13Yeah. I don't have enough hair.
- 1:02:19I do. How long are your barbershop
- 1:02:21appointments like? 40 minutes.
- 1:02:24Oh, OK. Because I go to a cosmetologist
- 1:02:28stylist lady who I've been friends with since middle
- 1:02:33school, has her own salon and stuff and, you know, does me up
- 1:02:37right. And then we go to the bowl thing
- 1:02:39washes and shampoos my head and. Get the whole experience.
- 1:02:43I can go run my errands after I don't have to go home and wash
- 1:02:46all the hair off, you know, before I do anything else.
- 1:02:49It's it's nice and I do agree that it is nice to have someone
- 1:02:54I can like just kind of rant to while they're like making me
- 1:03:00pretty. Yeah.
- 1:03:01It's the best combination. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:03:03Like I would ask her a lot of stuff that I wouldn't ask other
- 1:03:06people. Yeah, there is a really good
- 1:03:09bond with them. I mean like, and you're also
- 1:03:12going often because your hair grows back faster than like a
- 1:03:16girl's typically, right or. Like getting like every four or
- 1:03:18five weeks. Yeah.
- 1:03:20So like it is a lot more and. My glory days is every two
- 1:03:23weeks. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:03:25Now it's like a month. So, I mean, she haven't.
- 1:03:30Does she line up your beard and all of that too?
- 1:03:32Oh, nice. Yeah.
- 1:03:34Or, you know, she's like, you want me to hit this up?
- 1:03:36I like I'll hit it up when I get home later.
- 1:03:39Yeah, but I do think there is something about also someone
- 1:03:43washing your head, like when someone washes your head.
- 1:03:46It's very relaxing. We carry a lot of tension in our
- 1:03:49scalp. Actually.
- 1:03:50A lot of people think about the neck and the shoulders, but our
- 1:03:53scalp actually carries a lot of tension.
- 1:03:55So when someone else, it doesn't feel the same ever when you do
- 1:03:58it to yourself, but somebody else, there's something about
- 1:04:00somebody else relieving that tension that's so relaxing.
- 1:04:04I actually really love shampooing.
- 1:04:06I love shampooing my clients because I feel like it's like a
- 1:04:08moment for them to just like take a deep breath.
- 1:04:11Like that's how she got me hooked.
- 1:04:12Yeah, from doing that work, the scalp massage.
- 1:04:15Yes, this is. This is.
- 1:04:16Nice. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:04:17A lot more people. They don't realize they need it,
- 1:04:19but they need it. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:21I wish my scalp massages would last longer.
- 1:04:24Sydney. No kidding.
- 1:04:25Shout out to Sydney. No, I mean like it could be
- 1:04:30there forever, right? Right.
- 1:04:32Actually, so one of the studios, studios on market, she has like
- 1:04:38a head spa. She's actually a trichologist,
- 1:04:40so she specializes in like scalp health.
- 1:04:43So if you have psoriasis or anything like that, she does
- 1:04:45treatments for that. But she also it's like a head
- 1:04:47spa. So you can literally just go and
- 1:04:49get your head rubbed for like an hour and then she has like a
- 1:04:53little waterfall thing. Yeah.
- 1:04:55So there is businesses like that.
- 1:04:58We should if you're interested, because that sounds really nice.
- 1:05:02Very. Relaxing yes, yeah, yeah and
- 1:05:05give us. You got to.
- 1:05:06Help her head massages. Get us on the pot.
- 1:05:08Yeah, well, get her on the pot. I will.
- 1:05:09Yeah, I'll send her your way. OK.
- 1:05:11And then like tell her we want head massages.
- 1:05:13Yep I know it's nice. I love that that is a newer
- 1:05:19thing that I'm seeing. There's also one of my other old
- 1:05:24Co workers works for, I forget the name of it, Willow Roots or
- 1:05:28something like that in Wichita. And it's also a head spa, so
- 1:05:31they're called head spas. So that's literally it's like a
- 1:05:33spa for your head. What else?
- 1:05:36So if you want to go get your head massaged for an hour, there
- 1:05:39is a place for that. OK.
- 1:05:41OK. Now we know, the more we know,
- 1:05:44you guys heard that the market and another place look up it
- 1:05:47because I don't want to give the wrong name.
- 1:05:49I know Willow roots or something.
- 1:05:51Or head spa something roots head spa Wichita I should know what
- 1:05:57else is like trending right now in beauty industry?
- 1:06:00Like what are these new things that are coming out?
- 1:06:03Gosh, I feel like the beauty industry is constantly evolving.
- 1:06:07I still, I think it's still a lot more like it's either super
- 1:06:11vivid hair like yours or like very lived in.
- 1:06:14So some of my girlies I'll see like twice a year because their
- 1:06:18hair just laughs. So I'm seeing a lot softer, like
- 1:06:22makeup, softer hair, a lot more natural beauty.
- 1:06:27Industry wise though, it's it's honestly hard to keep up
- 1:06:30sometimes. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:32Because it's constantly changing.
- 1:06:34Education is super important to me though, so that's definitely
- 1:06:37something I want to continue on my own.
- 1:06:38At my last salon, we did a lot of continued education, so
- 1:06:41sometimes we would go out of state or have educators come in.
- 1:06:45And so that's definitely still something I want to cultivate
- 1:06:48with my own studio and continuing my education and
- 1:06:51making sure my skills are where they need to be to give the best
- 1:06:55possible services. Yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 1:06:58So Speaking of that then, like do you feel like cuz you're also
- 1:07:02kind of stepping into a bit of an entrepreneurial role too,
- 1:07:05right. So like, what are what are
- 1:07:07things from that aspect that have kind of challenged you or,
- 1:07:12you know, things that you're probably now maybe even talking
- 1:07:15more about yourself that maybe you didn't before?
- 1:07:17Because I feel like people follow more when they know who
- 1:07:20you are. Yes, I think that's very true.
- 1:07:24I think the entrepreneur part I really enjoyed.
- 1:07:26Like the business side of things.
- 1:07:28I think a lot of people don't. I don't think doing an
- 1:07:31independent studio is for everyone.
- 1:07:34I think some people like just want to go to work and like do
- 1:07:37their work and go home and leave it at work.
- 1:07:40With owning your own business, it never stops.
- 1:07:43I've definitely had to set boundaries with that and I'm
- 1:07:45still continuing to try to be better about my boundaries.
- 1:07:49Just like honoring my days off and not answering things until
- 1:07:53I'm like back at work or, or on the clock because it can get to
- 1:07:57be a little overwhelming with the business side of things if
- 1:08:00you don't separate that. But I've actually really enjoyed
- 1:08:03the business side of things. I love like scheduling my own
- 1:08:05appointments and being in control of my schedule and you
- 1:08:07know, checking my wait list if someone cancels.
- 1:08:10I like all the financials. Like I'm very, I'm a bit OCD, so
- 1:08:15it works well for that. But I do feel like in my own
- 1:08:19space with new clients, I'm definitely talking about myself
- 1:08:22more because at my old job there would always be conversations
- 1:08:25going on and you never know what wild stuff people are talking
- 1:08:28about. So sometimes my clients and I
- 1:08:30would just be silent and listening to what was going on.
- 1:08:33Around us. I love that.
- 1:08:35So, professional eavesdroppers. Professional eavesdroppers for
- 1:08:38sure. Yeah.
- 1:08:39So in my studio, definitely there is not that as much.
- 1:08:44But I do have some clients that, like I said, they just bring in
- 1:08:47work and they're like, I'm sorry, I'm not talking.
- 1:08:50And it's like I talk all day. So it's kind of nice for me too,
- 1:08:52to have a break. I don't mind like more silent
- 1:08:55appointments or appointments where people want to get work
- 1:08:57done. So I love both, yeah.
- 1:09:02But even with content creation though too, yes, content
- 1:09:05creation is huge, yeah. So when I went to school, we
- 1:09:08didn't really, that wasn't a huge thing yet.
- 1:09:11I mean, social media was, but it wasn't to the extent that it is
- 1:09:14now. And now it feels like you have
- 1:09:18to be a videographer and a photographer.
- 1:09:21And it's more than just like doing beautiful hair.
- 1:09:23Yeah. It's like having an online
- 1:09:25presence and showing people, like, your value and what you
- 1:09:29bring to the table, essentially. And that can be a bit
- 1:09:32overwhelming for me. I enjoy it.
- 1:09:36And I think now I do have a little bit more of a drive
- 1:09:39because it's for my own personal studio.
- 1:09:41And so it, it motivates me more 'cause it's like, it's my, you
- 1:09:44know, people finding me in my space.
- 1:09:46I still try to be really good about social media at my
- 1:09:49previous job, which I think is what allowed me to get to be as
- 1:09:53busy as I was in order to take the step to be independent.
- 1:09:56So I do think there's a lot of value in social media and people
- 1:09:59that just don't wanna do social media.
- 1:10:02It's like, well, there's someone that will.
- 1:10:03Mm hmm. And those clients will go to
- 1:10:05them because their online presence is there.
- 1:10:08They're seeing it. They're seeing the work that
- 1:10:09they want done, done on someone else.
- 1:10:11And so it kind of draws your like ideal dream clientele.
- 1:10:15But the opposite is also true. If you refuse to evolve with
- 1:10:19technology in the times, like you do get left behind a little
- 1:10:22bit. And so I think that's something
- 1:10:24that's difficult for a lot of beauty professionals, especially
- 1:10:27ones that have been in the industry for a lot of years,
- 1:10:29because they don't, oh, I don't want to do social media.
- 1:10:32It's like, well, I don't always either.
- 1:10:34Yeah, but I know it's necessary. It's a means to an end.
- 1:10:37So I definitely have weeks that I'm really good about it, and I
- 1:10:40have other weeks that I just take a break.
- 1:10:43Yeah, I just think I have to take a break sometimes because
- 1:10:46it can be a little overwhelming. And I do get some creative
- 1:10:49blocks when it comes to content sometimes, so.
- 1:10:53I feel like that's kind of true for us, even like with the
- 1:10:55podcast. I was talking, I was about to
- 1:10:57say, you sound like a DJ, right? Now.
- 1:11:00But yeah, like or even yeah, with you like as a DJ, but like,
- 1:11:04OK, because obviously the podcast for Dusty and I is just
- 1:11:07like one other thing that we enjoy to do, but that like we
- 1:11:10still have other things that we enjoy to do.
- 1:11:12And then plus the regular eight to five.
- 1:11:14Yes. And so I was talking to a friend
- 1:11:18about this, like how much I often struggle with like,
- 1:11:22because at least like with other things that I want to do, I
- 1:11:26might keep those accounts public, but then like my own
- 1:11:29account, I want to keep private, you know, like I want just that
- 1:11:32to myself. But then also it's like, oh,
- 1:11:35when you have to have a public account, you have to keep up
- 1:11:38with it. You have to be posting stuff.
- 1:11:40Like, I mean, like I have an account that I haven't posted in
- 1:11:42forever, but I like will be on there and still liking stuff.
- 1:11:45And I'm like, I need to post. I know I do.
- 1:11:48I have stuff, but I don't want to or you know, like you get in
- 1:11:50that headspace, which is a different space from like the
- 1:11:53podcast where I might be more willing to say whatever on the
- 1:11:57mic. And it's just so funny the
- 1:12:00different headspaces, all these things create for us, right?
- 1:12:03Because like there are also moments in my work where like
- 1:12:06now getting to be more creative and like designing an app or
- 1:12:09something, like I still get blocked there.
- 1:12:12But that's still different from like an art creative block,
- 1:12:15which is different from the podcast creative block where
- 1:12:18like even today I was like, oh shit, what are we going to talk
- 1:12:20about? Yeah, for sure.
- 1:12:22It's hard. It's hard to sometimes generate
- 1:12:24those ideas, I think. And I think there's also just so
- 1:12:28much pressure because we spend so much time on our phones.
- 1:12:30And so I think for me, I really have to be careful about my
- 1:12:35screen time because I can easily like fall into a negative
- 1:12:39headspace of like, oh, I should be posting or I should be doing
- 1:12:42this or this, you know, like comparison, I think is
- 1:12:45definitely the thief of joy. And I think with social media,
- 1:12:47that's affected a lot of us and puts more pressure on us.
- 1:12:51And sometimes it can be inspiring too.
- 1:12:53So it really varies, but I think it all depends on where your
- 1:12:56like headspace is at. If I'm not having the best
- 1:12:59mental health week and then I see all these things, it usually
- 1:13:01makes it worse. So for me, just monitoring that
- 1:13:04as well, and then sometimes using people's videos for
- 1:13:07inspiration because you know what, it works.
- 1:13:10Yeah, it's hard. Yeah, no, I was gonna say like,
- 1:13:14even, not just your mental health in that week, but even
- 1:13:18that day or that hour, like, right, Because like you're going
- 1:13:21like, let's break out down a day, right?
- 1:13:23Like you're probably going into the studio or do work out in the
- 1:13:27morning or afternoon. I work out in the morning.
- 1:13:28OK, so like in the morning, say you're laying in bed.
- 1:13:31Yep. You pull out your phone.
- 1:13:32Oh yeah, instantly. Starts your day.
- 1:13:34Negative. Yeah, it's so bad to be in bed
- 1:13:36on your phone. It's the word, actually.
- 1:13:38Are you good about? Not I'm I'm pretty good about
- 1:13:40not because usually I get up, I start the coffee, I drink my
- 1:13:44electrolytes. Chris drinks his electrolyte and
- 1:13:46we meditate and that's like our first 30 to 45 minutes.
- 1:13:50Wow. And so that is really been great
- 1:13:52for me just to like get out and do it.
- 1:13:55And then I start getting ready for the gym and then I usually
- 1:13:57go to the gym. So I try to be, I mean, some
- 1:13:59days I'm not good about it, but I try to be.
- 1:14:02And Chris is good at reminding me too.
- 1:14:04If I like get up and I'm like just scrolling or whatever.
- 1:14:07He's like, it's really bad for you to be on your phone.
- 1:14:10Like the first hour of of your day really sets the tone.
- 1:14:14Yeah. And so if you're immediately
- 1:14:16getting on social media, it's just really bad for your brain.
- 1:14:20That first hour is super important.
- 1:14:21So if there's some other ritual you can do in the mornings, I
- 1:14:24think that for me has been super beneficial.
- 1:14:27So so even like your alarm clock, what do you use as your
- 1:14:31alarm? Clock.
- 1:14:31So I do use my phone OK, but I just I just shut it off OK.
- 1:14:36You and Chris have separate alarm clocks or no?
- 1:14:39OK, Nope. So you guys get up together?
- 1:14:41We get up together OK. That's helpful, yeah.
- 1:14:45For the monster, usually I get up too.
- 1:14:47I usually get up and my alarm I sit on.
- 1:14:50I lay on the side of the bed that the table's on.
- 1:14:52So I shut the alarm off and I'm like hey good morning, it's time
- 1:14:55to get up. And so then he usually gets up
- 1:14:56like 5 minutes after me but close enough.
- 1:14:59But I usually am the first one out of bed because I'm on that
- 1:15:01side. But I do use my phone alarm.
- 1:15:06But I find just trying not to get on social media, that's the
- 1:15:10big one. Social media first thing in the
- 1:15:11morning, not good. And a lot of what is on there,
- 1:15:14not always, but most of it's negative, I would say not always
- 1:15:19are. You are you pretty specific
- 1:15:20about what you fall because I can be like I try not to.
- 1:15:24I try to be. I try to be.
- 1:15:26And I like clean up my followers too.
- 1:15:28I do. I need to be better about that
- 1:15:29and I clean up who I follow. I don't take the time to do
- 1:15:31that, but I mean. Sometimes I do, but I should.
- 1:15:34I'm like, you don't need to be on my.
- 1:15:35Shit, OK, I will do that. There have been a few people who
- 1:15:38are like, Nope, this is too much.
- 1:15:40Yeah, But, you know, there's just a lot.
- 1:15:43I think in an age of technology, we just have access to so much,
- 1:15:48which can be a beautiful thing, but it can also be a detrimental
- 1:15:50thing. So like, you get up and you're
- 1:15:52like, Oh my God, a plane crashed and hundreds of people died.
- 1:15:56And then I'm sad. Like I just.
- 1:15:58It's just not. Good for me.
- 1:16:01Yeah, I'm sensitive. Well, also absorb it.
- 1:16:03January through April, like shit after shit after shit with like
- 1:16:08just this administration like and every time I open my phone I
- 1:16:11was like fucking hate it here. Yeah, stuff like.
- 1:16:15That it was just like so high, Yeah.
- 1:16:18And every time. You got to change up your
- 1:16:19algorithm bud. I know and I do follow because
- 1:16:22like I care about things like that.
- 1:16:23So I follow a lot of accounts and like it is so good to be
- 1:16:26informed, but it's also so like what you know, like.
- 1:16:31Cuz there aren't. My algorithms got better, now
- 1:16:33it's like workout stuff. Yeah.
- 1:16:35Food, hair, yeah. And like some funny reels in
- 1:16:40there. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:41So tried to cultivate that. But yeah, they're occasionally
- 1:16:45things slip in. Yeah, my like morning routine,
- 1:16:49not the best. I'm trying to get better at it
- 1:16:51again, but I stopped using my phone as my alarm clock and I
- 1:16:55have like a couple years ago I switched.
- 1:17:00I bought myself like a nicer alarm clock used because it was
- 1:17:04expensive If I bought a new and I was like, I'm buying a used
- 1:17:08one. Yeah.
- 1:17:09But anyway, so like a mimics sunrise and sunset.
- 1:17:14Oh, I've. Seen those?
- 1:17:15Yeah, I would love to get one of those.
- 1:17:17Yeah, and also the sounds, I mean you can choose what sounds
- 1:17:20it is for it to wake you up, but it's like birds sinking or
- 1:17:23whatever, but it's it starts slow.
- 1:17:26So like the light will start really slow and like eventually
- 1:17:30get super bright where it brightens my whole room and then
- 1:17:33like the bird noise gets louder to where it wakes me up.
- 1:17:35That's so nice. How peaceful, Yeah.
- 1:17:37And so it's like, say my alarm is supposed to be at 7:30, like
- 1:17:42at at 7:15, it's starting to gradually do this or 730
- 1:17:46something like that. And then also same thing for as
- 1:17:49I start to get ready for bed, I probably feel like I use it most
- 1:17:53for my bedtime where I've gotten better at that where like I
- 1:17:56although I have kind of gotten out of my meditation habit.
- 1:18:00Sometimes I feel nervous like I don't know, like if someone is
- 1:18:06spending the night, like I get nervous about them seeing that
- 1:18:08they're like hey, I'm at a take and like and it's kind of like
- 1:18:12corny or like, do you wanna do this with me?
- 1:18:14So like that's where I get out of that.
- 1:18:17But like I will like cuz you can set it to 30/20/15 or 5 minutes.
- 1:18:22And so like that's kind of what I use cuz it'll mimic sunset and
- 1:18:26that's what I'm using to kind of like start the meditation.
- 1:18:30I love that. And so I really do like it
- 1:18:32because one time a long time ago, one of my coworkers at that
- 1:18:36time, she was like also talking about how bad it is that we wake
- 1:18:41up with so much anxiety from our phones and the alarm clock that
- 1:18:45it goes off and it's just so much anxiety because like it is
- 1:18:47scary. It is, you know, you wake up and
- 1:18:48you're like, what the? Sound is triggering.
- 1:18:50Yeah, it's very triggering and so I was like also, I think this
- 1:18:55was also like out of the time where like peak anxiety.
- 1:18:57So I'm like OK, I need to switch and that's when I got to that.
- 1:19:00But my morning routine, I definitely wish it could be
- 1:19:02better. And I, I feel like I'm
- 1:19:05constantly trying to be like, I just want a better morning
- 1:19:07routine where my better morning routine is where when I say that
- 1:19:12I'd like to just like be able to get out of bed right away and
- 1:19:15definitely be off my phone for at least the 1st 30 minutes.
- 1:19:17Like that's my first school. Like eventually I'd like to get,
- 1:19:21yeah, eventually I'd like to get, you know, an hour or
- 1:19:25something, but at least the 1st 30 minutes or something.
- 1:19:29What's kind of your morning routine?
- 1:19:30Your night routine? My morning starts off very
- 1:19:33violently compared to y'all. I just checked my phone.
- 1:19:41I have 3 alarms set. 63637 and 73730 is the very last one that
- 1:19:49I absolutely have to wake up so I have time to at least wash my
- 1:19:53face, brush my teeth, put clothes on, and then get my butt
- 1:19:57to the office. Sometimes I set alarms like that
- 1:20:02and then I get mad at myself because I'll get up at the last
- 1:20:04one and I'm like, I could have just slept another hour, but
- 1:20:08instead I feel very groggy. That's true, because once I wake
- 1:20:11up and then I fall back asleep and then it's so hard though.
- 1:20:13It's so hard to get up to that first one.
- 1:20:15But before my phone I have an old school analog clock that
- 1:20:19just beeps. Dating.
- 1:20:24Yeah, it keeps going until you do something or you gotta, you
- 1:20:27gotta snooze or flip the switch, Yeah, to shut it off.
- 1:20:30And so, yeah, my mornings start off pretty violent.
- 1:20:33Yeah. Yeah, a nice snooze.
- 1:20:35Like I'm a snoozer. Yeah, so I got set.
- 1:20:37It's hard to not be a snoozer, Yeah.
- 1:20:40But it's also because I'm irresponsible with my sleep at
- 1:20:43night. I'm trying to get better with
- 1:20:45like, all right? Sleep is a very important
- 1:20:49activity that I should actively pursue instead of just waiting
- 1:20:53until I'm tired and gonna pass out.
- 1:20:56Yeah, yeah, I like that was it for me too.
- 1:21:00Is like realizing how much sleep matters and I feel like I'm so
- 1:21:06I'm not the best if I don't even get 8 hours and I know that's a
- 1:21:10lot of hours for people who are parents yes for example.
- 1:21:15But shit man like I'm single fuck off.
- 1:21:18Like I want 8 hours of sleep at least.
- 1:21:21Don't make me feel bad. And they say 10.
- 1:21:23Oh really? See, I'm a woman.
- 1:21:25Too, It's actually different for women and men.
- 1:21:27Like men can operate at full function on less sleep than
- 1:21:31women. What is that?
- 1:21:33Because of our hormones. I'm good at 6-7 to 8 would be
- 1:21:38fantastic. Like over this weekend I got 7
- 1:21:42to 8 and woke up great. Yeah, woke up refreshed, was
- 1:21:45ready to tackle the day and then last night I was up till 2:00 AM
- 1:21:51and had to get up at 7 and wasn't as great of a day.
- 1:21:56Yeah. Yeah, I think it's hard to
- 1:21:58asleep because they're like sleep is so important.
- 1:22:01But if you tell that to someone who's not sleeping or someone
- 1:22:03that has anxiety around sleep, it's the worst thing you could
- 1:22:06tell them. Yes, like every video, they're
- 1:22:08like, it's so important and it's like, it is, but you're gonna be
- 1:22:12fine if you don't get great sleep.
- 1:22:14Yeah, we can function on a lot less than we think.
- 1:22:17That's true. Sometimes I'll get a great
- 1:22:19night's sleep and I'll still feel tired.
- 1:22:21That's true, yeah. Cuz of course then other shit
- 1:22:25happens, yeah. Like, just water.
- 1:22:27Yeah. I don't know if we're getting
- 1:22:29nutrition. Nutrition, 100% nutrition is a
- 1:22:32big one. Oh my God.
- 1:22:33Eating like a hamburger and stuff and then you feel really
- 1:22:37awful and slow and groggy right after versus like maybe more of
- 1:22:40a balanced meal or a hamburger that's just a little more
- 1:22:43balanced because you can definitely still have a
- 1:22:45hamburger. I find it more about really
- 1:22:47heavy at night. Like late at night I wake up so
- 1:22:51groggy it still affects me the next morning, which is crazy to
- 1:22:55say. Yeah.
- 1:22:56When did I get so old? Yeah, I got to take whatever.
- 1:23:00But yes, Tums are in my bag at all times.
- 1:23:05You never know when you need one.
- 1:23:07The first sign that you're getting old I.
- 1:23:08Know, yeah, and. It's.
- 1:23:09Tragic. Yeah, but it does.
- 1:23:12I think food effects us a lot more than we realize.
- 1:23:14Yeah, even the next day. You heard of that guy who's like
- 1:23:1820 years younger than his real age and he injects his Sonny's
- 1:23:24blood into him? What?
- 1:23:25I don't know if I'm thinking of the same guy.
- 1:23:28Maybe, I don't know, maybe you just haven't heard that part.
- 1:23:31Maybe I hadn't heard that part. OK, is he does?
- 1:23:34He does he is it the one that wakes up at 4:00 AM and like,
- 1:23:37finishes eating by 11? AMI think so?
- 1:23:39OK. OK.
- 1:23:40Yeah, but yeah. And he like looks.
- 1:23:42He said like his last meal. He never goes in the sun.
- 1:23:44His last meal is at least six hours before he plans to go to
- 1:23:49bed. Yeah, we've, Chris and I have
- 1:23:50actually just started doing that.
- 1:23:51It's like very fresh. Yeah, But we've started not
- 1:23:55eating past. Well, usually we eat like our
- 1:23:58first meal around like 11 to noon.
- 1:24:01And then we we've been trying to stop eating at like 6.
- 1:24:05And as long as you eat like a nutritionally dense meal, like
- 1:24:08before you cut off your time, I have felt a lot better and I've
- 1:24:12been sleeping a lot better. We're trying to shred some fat.
- 1:24:15I've been doing some works. I've been doing intermittent
- 1:24:17fasting, but yeah, intermittent fasting, Yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:20Do you like it? I love it.
- 1:24:21This year, actually, I've shortened that window so my my
- 1:24:25first meal is like 1:32 PM and then my last meal about six or
- 1:24:31seven. Yeah.
- 1:24:33PM That's awesome. How long have you done that for?
- 1:24:37Many years it hasn't been doing great I don't think cuz I can't
- 1:24:41make it to the gym all the time but.
- 1:24:44I mean, you're doing that and I think that's good.
- 1:24:45I think just even giving your body and like what I've read
- 1:24:49anyways is like your digestive system like a full long period
- 1:24:53of time to like and before like you're going to sleep as well.
- 1:24:57Yeah, they can get a. Full break like.
- 1:24:59Gut rest. Or something.
- 1:25:00Yeah. Yeah, you gotta give it a break.
- 1:25:03See, that is definitely where I can improve.
- 1:25:06Like right now, I am in a calorie deficit.
- 1:25:09I do. I am counting my macros.
- 1:25:12I love to see it. Yeah, it's thank you.
- 1:25:14But I, I mean, I have my throat breakfast, lunch, dinner, 2
- 1:25:17snacks. Sometimes I or I, I've been
- 1:25:22focusing more on like, because it's a calorie deficit, like
- 1:25:25spacing out the meals so I don't feel hungry.
- 1:25:29But also, I mean, I've been doing it for a while that I
- 1:25:30think I'm used to it now that I really don't need to.
- 1:25:33But like, sometimes if I start my day really late, as in like I
- 1:25:36didn't get out of bed until the minute that I needed to be on
- 1:25:38camera because I work from home, then like, I, you know, I eat
- 1:25:45later. I then eat lunch later and then
- 1:25:47I work out and then I'm eating dinner really late.
- 1:25:50Like sometimes I'm eating dinner at like 8:40.
- 1:25:52Yeah, that's how Chris and I were.
- 1:25:54Cuz some nights I get off at 8:00 and then he would do
- 1:25:57jujitsu. So by the time we both would get
- 1:25:59home and I would get something together for dinner, it'd be
- 1:26:01like 839 o'clock. And also we were.
- 1:26:05I feel like we make our worst food decisions at night.
- 1:26:08That's when my self-control is the least strong.
- 1:26:13So like sweet treats or like snacks, like when you're tired
- 1:26:16and you just wanna munch. So we're trying to cut that out
- 1:26:18by doing the intermittent fasting, and it seems like it's
- 1:26:21working so far. Yeah, What's your favorite sweet
- 1:26:24treat? Favorite sweet treat?
- 1:26:26I am an ice cream and baked goods girly.
- 1:26:29So like ice cream and a brownie fresh out the oven, some
- 1:26:34chocolate cake. Like really I love my sweets but
- 1:26:37we have cut out like extra sugar like sweet treats recently which
- 1:26:43I do feel better on but. But it's still sad.
- 1:26:45It's still sad. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:26:48I'm a salty person. I like like chips.
- 1:26:52That's my I. Love that too.
- 1:26:53Like that's my weakness. I just love snacks.
- 1:26:56Yeah, I just love food. Yeah.
- 1:26:57I don't discriminate. Yeah.
- 1:26:59I love it all. What's yours?
- 1:27:01I feel like if I'm craving something salty like chips or
- 1:27:03something, it's like I really just want real food.
- 1:27:06But. I definitely have a sweet tooth,
- 1:27:09like, after dinner, like, oh, there's an option for dessert.
- 1:27:14Yeah. That was Chris and I for a
- 1:27:15while. Like every time we'd finished
- 1:27:17Keating. I'm like sweet treat time.
- 1:27:19Like we deserve a treat. Yeah.
- 1:27:21Like, no, we don't. We need to calm down.
- 1:27:23Yeah. No, like, it's kind of funny
- 1:27:26because like for my now, you know, switching to a deficit and
- 1:27:31like, because so I have somebody who does my workout programming
- 1:27:38and then she also manages my nutrition and she gives me my
- 1:27:41recipes too. Oh, that's so nice.
- 1:27:43Yeah, and sometimes, like, when I wouldn't see salty stuff in my
- 1:27:48sex, like that took me a while to finally go like, OK, I'm
- 1:27:51going to eat sweet stuff. I mean, it wasn't super sweet.
- 1:27:54I mean, we're talking Greek yogurt and like, some fruit in
- 1:27:57there, things like that. But I would always be like, I
- 1:28:00want salty stuff. So like, at the end of the day,
- 1:28:03you know, like everything is good in moderation because like,
- 1:28:07I could still fit in some Frito Hot Lays if I want.
- 1:28:12And then with a little bit of Greek yogurt just so I can still
- 1:28:15balance out the fact that, like, I got the carb and the fat, but
- 1:28:19I definitely didn't get the protein type of thing.
- 1:28:23And yeah, but I mean, I still want more because I love salty
- 1:28:27snacks. Or I think it's also like I sit
- 1:28:29on my couch and I will put it on TV and I'm like I'm a.
- 1:28:32Snack. See that's.
- 1:28:33What it? Is, Yeah.
- 1:28:34Especially at night. It's game over.
- 1:28:36Yeah, where it's like, but I'm sitting on my couch.
- 1:28:38I want a snack. It's hard.
- 1:28:42It's hard to get the habit. Yeah, the first, the first
- 1:28:45evening we intermittent fasted. When I got off work, like early,
- 1:28:50I felt weird. I also didn't eat, I should have
- 1:28:52eaten at like 5:30 or like 430. I ate at like 3 and I didn't eat
- 1:28:58like enough food. So by 6 I was starving.
- 1:29:02But Chris and I both were like, it's like the ritual of it.
- 1:29:04Like we, we like eat food, we watch our TV.
- 1:29:07Like it was just weird. So now we're getting used to it
- 1:29:11and I think learning, like, we have to eat dense before our cut
- 1:29:14off time to stay full. I don't know.
- 1:29:18It's a weird feeling, though. Yeah.
- 1:29:20You, you just get used to those habits.
- 1:29:21Like a sweet treat after dinner. Oh, I'm on my couch.
- 1:29:24I want a snack. Like it's just like, almost
- 1:29:26like, I don't know, it's just second nature.
- 1:29:29It is the conditioning because I have gotten rid of my dining
- 1:29:33table. I definitely am trying trying.
- 1:29:36I want to get a dining table mostly because I need a stop
- 1:29:41eating on the floor, eating on my couch.
- 1:29:44Like I have a like, you know, on the floor of my or my coffee
- 1:29:46table or sometime because I have an office space now.
- 1:29:49And so like even eating on my desk, like I need to stop doing
- 1:29:52that. But I bring that up because,
- 1:29:54like, I'm now used to eating and watching TV.
- 1:29:58That's how we were, too. Yeah.
- 1:30:00And so it is the conditioning. So say like at the end of the
- 1:30:02day, I've had a really, really long day and I want to watch TV
- 1:30:06or something. It's the oh I want to get
- 1:30:08something to eat while I'm watching this.
- 1:30:10Absolutely. Because it is kind of the
- 1:30:12conditioning. Yeah, you're used to it, Yeah.
- 1:30:15Yeah. Yeah, so you.
- 1:30:16Know you know what'll break you out of that And you can't find
- 1:30:19anything to watch while you eat. Oh my God.
- 1:30:21Like, you know what? Screw it, I'm just gonna eat.
- 1:30:24I'm done and. Then go to something.
- 1:30:25Else that's so true though, because no, I don't know.
- 1:30:28See what The thing is with me is like I let my food go cold.
- 1:30:32Oh no. She'll find that something to
- 1:30:34watch. I do, yeah.
- 1:30:37And then like something, sometimes if I can't find
- 1:30:41anything, I'll just revert to like a Disney movie or
- 1:30:43something, something cozy. Because that's so funny.
- 1:30:47Because I don't know what else to watch or like now, like I've
- 1:30:50turned into an iPad kid, you know, like that's, that's what
- 1:30:53it is. And so I'm like, OK, I really do
- 1:30:55need to get myself a kitchen table so I'm not looking at a
- 1:30:59screen. Cuz even at my desk I'm looking
- 1:31:01at a screen. Yep, like just something that
- 1:31:04gets me out of a screen while I'm eating so I can stop that
- 1:31:07habit. I gotta do that at work.
- 1:31:09Like I see people eat at their like desk and then like that
- 1:31:13you're still working. Yeah, that's.
- 1:31:15Not a break, I need a break. I'm gonna go leave my desk, get
- 1:31:18out of here, get some food and go eat somewhere else.
- 1:31:22Yeah, yeah, definitely need to do that.
- 1:31:26I didn't have a good transition for this either.
- 1:31:28That's OK. That's my laugh.
- 1:31:35How are you making fun of me? Actually, I have the perfect
- 1:31:39lightning round question. We're going to switch to
- 1:31:40lightning round, OK? And I'm just, yeah.
- 1:31:42And I'm just going to ask you a bunch of questions, OK?
- 1:31:47I'm going to ask you questions and you kind of like, just want
- 1:31:49to kind of go through them. OK?
- 1:31:51So the first lightning round question is give me your best
- 1:31:54rich laugh. My best rich laugh.
- 1:31:58Yeah, yeah, cuz there's this thing like going around like
- 1:32:00there's a poor laugh and there's a rich laugh.
- 1:32:02So like I haven't seen it. So like maybe your poor laugh is
- 1:32:07your regular laugh, like or like that laugh right there.
- 1:32:09What it sounded like really obnoxious.
- 1:32:11My regular laugh is my rich laugh.
- 1:32:13Yeah, that's your best rich laugh.
- 1:32:16That's my rich laugh. That's just my laugh.
- 1:32:18Yeah, I'm gonna say it's my rich laugh because we're manifesting
- 1:32:21money. Oh, there you go.
- 1:32:22OK, that's a good one. OK, one word to describe the
- 1:32:26vibe of your studio. Cozy.
- 1:32:29Cozy. What's a hair trend that needs
- 1:32:31to end? I hope other people can hear
- 1:32:38that. Yeah, that's definitely not me.
- 1:32:41That's coming from downstairs. What's downstairs I can feel.
- 1:32:44It it's Christmas, sounds Christmassy.
- 1:32:51Oh, you know what? I did see a band leaving the
- 1:32:53other day. I'm sorry, can you ask the
- 1:32:56question? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:32:57It got really distracted. What's a hair trend that needs
- 1:33:01to end? Chunky highlights.
- 1:33:04Chunky highlights OK. Just keep it blended.
- 1:33:08What's your hot take? My hot take just in general.
- 1:33:12A hot take. A Hot take?
- 1:33:15Heal your childhood trauma. Yeah, that's my hot take.
- 1:33:19You will improve everyone's lives around you by healing
- 1:33:22yourself. Yes, OK, you told us what your
- 1:33:25moon sign is, but remind us and how does it show up for you?
- 1:33:29My moon sign is Cancer and how it shows up for me.
- 1:33:34I think all three play together. So my almost astrology twin well
- 1:33:42for the big three is Robin Williams.
- 1:33:44Love him, but I think he had a lot of struggles as well.
- 1:33:51And I think our, I can't remember if our rising and our,
- 1:33:55I don't know, two of them were switched, but he had all three
- 1:33:57water sign as well. Just very creative.
- 1:34:02I feel like very in tune, very creative.
- 1:34:04So I think cancer has a part to play in that as well.
- 1:34:07Yeah, OK. What was your first hair, Phil?
- 1:34:12My first hair fail Oof. In beauty school, I had a friend
- 1:34:18from high school and she wanted like a purple balayage.
- 1:34:22I did not learn balayage in school because I'm kind of like
- 1:34:25in between old school hairdresser and new age
- 1:34:27hairdresser. So a lot of that was learned
- 1:34:29afterwards. And so I was like, I always
- 1:34:32wanted to give people the best. So I was like, yes, let's do it.
- 1:34:37Like I wanted to be enthusiastic.
- 1:34:38I wanted to do all the things even when I did not know how to
- 1:34:41do the things. So I did a purple, I guess it
- 1:34:44was ombre called ombre back then.
- 1:34:48And it was not good. It was not good.
- 1:34:52And she said she loved it. And I'm like, girl, no, you
- 1:34:54don't. Don't lie to me.
- 1:34:55It was really bad. I was like, you might love it,
- 1:34:58but I hate it. But that was a good learning
- 1:35:01experience for me and I learned from my mistakes.
- 1:35:04And we have come a long way. Oh good, she still trusts.
- 1:35:07You she doesn't live here anymore.
- 1:35:09But Nope, that was my one and only time I did her hair.
- 1:35:12So shout out to Maddie. We love you, Maddie.
- 1:35:17OK, favorite mantra or affirmation at the moment?
- 1:35:23There's so I have literally so many that come to my mind.
- 1:35:26Favorite mantra? I would say everything that is
- 1:35:31meant to be mine will be mine. Yeah, I think I gave you this
- 1:35:36ahead of time so hopefully you can answer it if you had to pick
- 1:35:403 songs for your life anthem. Yes.
- 1:35:42OK, what would they be and why? I would say Float On by Modest
- 1:35:49Mouse because it's just about like going with the flow.
- 1:35:53Like no matter what happens, like it's all going to be good.
- 1:35:56So I think that is like one of my life anthems because I just
- 1:36:01try to go with the flow. Not very good at it sometimes,
- 1:36:03but we're trying. My second one would be Love is
- 1:36:07Alive by Louis the Child. It's just a very upbeat, like
- 1:36:11happy, like she says, I want to go where love is and I feel like
- 1:36:15that is true to my life is I just want to like surround
- 1:36:18myself with love and people that love and just all of the good
- 1:36:22positive vibrations. So that would be 1.
- 1:36:25And then I would say Heaven up there by Palace.
- 1:36:29It's one of my favourites. It's just really good.
- 1:36:33I feel like it's, it's a really sad song, but it really connects
- 1:36:38with me in a lot of ways and I think it just makes me think
- 1:36:42about like human existence and future and I don't know, just
- 1:36:46living life to the fullest so. Yeah.
- 1:36:49Those 3. What would your younger self be
- 1:36:52most proud of you today? For everything I actually saw, I
- 1:36:59actually saw a post the other day on Facebook, it was like, if
- 1:37:03you could say 3-3 words to your younger self, what would it be?
- 1:37:06And the first thought that came to my mind was like, I love you.
- 1:37:08And I think that is, I think I, my younger self would be very
- 1:37:13proud of like what I've been through where I'm at owning my
- 1:37:17own business. Like I think my younger self
- 1:37:19would think I'm so cool. And I think that's like the best
- 1:37:22accomplishment and the best feeling.
- 1:37:24Yeah, yeah, for sure. So we now had heard a little bit
- 1:37:28about you, your stories, your passions and interests.
