Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: What has happened everybody, welcome back to another episode of the SportsCard CEO, the official collectibles podcast of just baseball, Bubba in Ham and the House Bubba, you little fist pound through the screen from a distance.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_03]: a 47-D season and a season of life in the other and naturely baseball history from Ronald the Cognitive Junior.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_03]: There's a drag right on the Man of Heaven, the Man of Heaven, what a amazing, he is having.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_03]: He hits this one hard, he hits the Man of Heaven, like Trump, that's right coming on.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, guys?
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: My truck, and listen to Sports Park CEO, it's current, bubbling hand.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: We are surviving the ice snow apocalypse here in the southeast and if weather permitting our boy Nick Tucker may be jumping on, but I think he might be stuck on a sheet of ice somewhere because we're texting me in here back, but anyway, but are you good?
- 1:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_02]: and doing good.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_02]: And for those of you that can see Mr. Ham today, you'll see what I'm about to say next.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_02]: If you can't see him, he looks like he's got the lumberjack.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_02]: Like he's been out here cutting some wood.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_02]: He's been preparing for the storm that's coming in.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_02]: He's done the beard grow out.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_02]: He's staying warm.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_02]: So he's ready.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think he's had a fire going for three days and he's got lots of fire brewing today about some baseball talking about what's coming.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_02]: So ready to get him four to get
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: bring in the lumber baby bring in the lumber you know but it's been fun as we've kind of kicked off the new year with the show here and kind of grown in through you know it's funny man couple things want to say a special thank you to our listeners we continue to get messages every day I had a guy message me today blah blah from Oklahoma
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: And he's an old friend and he kind of, you know, knows we're into cards and stuff and he said, hey, by the way, my brother-in-law is huge into cards.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: And he listens to y'all's podcast every week and takes notes.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: He loves it that much.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: And that's kind of the thing, man.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: We really want to provide.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the very best quality education, dialogue, commentary, just on this hobby that we love, you know, bringing this kind of business mind to the sports card space.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, it's interesting, but we live in a very interesting hobby.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: We have chosen a very interesting industry.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: You know, one of the things that we are all very aware of is, unfortunately, the hobby lends itself to a lot of bad actors, a lot of people with bad intentions and, you know, we're aware of that and we don't want to harp on it, but again, it's just a thing.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: We want to bring the adverse of that to the table with what we do here on the CEO and certainly men, you know, educate our folks.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah, go on the education front, a lot of you'll know that I'm not that active in the past on Instagram with my account.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'll post some cards here there.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: I search and I get on there and I look for cards and buy some stuff occasionally.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: But I haven't been all that active usually in the past just spurred to you there.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I've been pretty active lately.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: I've been buying a lot with our new business together.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_02]: I'm and I've been buying a lot.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: I've been buying a lot of even on my own.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm some stuff that's kind of more like longer-term type stuff.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: Tell you, something hit me the other night watching the football game of the year that watch.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_02]: I know some of you all did see that because I got some comments back for sure.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_02]: People probably don't even listen to the show as well, but that's what we're going to talk about today.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: Deep dive and I think that's going to be part of the show is just diving in.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: One thing I can't stand is when people just put a false narrative out there.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like when there's not facts, like I like I'm going to talk about something I want to know the details, give me the details, give me the numbers, give me something to go off of, just cart-blank, shoot now your rear end, doesn't work for me.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: And when it happens over and over and over again, you know, I finally was just like, look, I got a response.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_02]: So if you didn't see it, we'll talk more about the show today,
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: leading into that.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, I'm gonna go ahead and kind of break down my week and then you can get the same for you.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: But just, I mean, honestly, probably buying is heavy as I bought in a long, long time.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: You know, kind of putting my money where my mouth is with the post I've made online.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_02]: Buy a lot of Connor, buy a lot of the same guys we've been talking about.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_02]: Connor, whether whole Connor.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: And there's even been, you know, some other value place that were out there.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: We've got a lot of a conia.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_02]: You know, people we've talked about on the ship.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people we keep talking about, but we're doubling down.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about why we're doubling down, but I just felt like again, we were at our kind of like mecca here of like time to buy a window to buy before prices are going to rise.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: And I think we are, and I just looked at the numbers and I'm going to share that today, the data today on what last year's sales season look like in baseball season and how the numbers got affected.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that window is trying to buy low could be closing on some of these players.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_02]: you know, and as we get into the season, it's not that as prices will necessarily go down.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_02]: Because you can look at this chart from the last year, the baseball index as a whole was going up.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, almost completely the whole time until right about the time the season ended.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: We had a little bit of a dip kind of that into season.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: But I will say on some of these guys, if they're higher risk and you're not playing the game with your eyes open, understanding that, hey, things do change once games start, then you don't understand the full risk profile.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: Understand that this game is a game of risk you and you have to assess the gain versus the risk of every player in and so So anyway, that's that's what I've been doing is really been assessing like Okay, what is the current risk of these cards?
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: We're buying should we double down?
- 5:47[SPEAKER_02]: Should we spend more money?
- 5:49[SPEAKER_02]: Should we keep pressing the gas pedal in it's been in my head?
- 5:51[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think we're going to come to a window fairly soon where that window starts to become a little more of okay, we've hit the gas now we're going to start getting closer to a season where you better take in some gains because if you don't take gains all the way up to opening day, you're going to be holding your ankles probably and less you chose the right gas if you chose the right guys and you're and you're just that can make it on the player we talk about conviction all time here then then you're in good shape, but.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_02]: That's me on the card front this week, personal side, just cruise control man.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's been nice to have some time off.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm mentally very fresh right now from the snowed in.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_02]: I stand spent a lot of family time movies, fires up in wood like Matt Ham.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and just enjoying some R&R with the kids before sports really get going and life is hectic again.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: So doing doing just those type of things baseball is cranking up now in our house while we're starting to hit again and get training.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: I just got down with a batting cage and hitting facility.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: I built over here for my kids and our team and decided about using that.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: But really that's it for me on the on the personal side now.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_02]: I did mention this a couple weeks back and I didn't know that
- 6:59[SPEAKER_02]: People really would actually pay attention to that that I said this but there's actually been a lot of people that have reached out about this kind of my health You know like I thought about my health plan for this year for my dad and kind of like me and this has been a moment for me to say Hey, I got to I got to take this hell serious and where I'm going and people been asking how's it going?
- 7:16[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, you know, I'm trying to do the same thing or hey, this is going out my dad and
- 7:20[SPEAKER_02]: So just an update there.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: Dad's doing really, really well.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_02]: He's he's come out of this and it's really just been an eye opening experience for my whole family life short and you know, we're not promised tomorrow.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_02]: And so that's really gone into my mindset.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_02]: Ham and I you're not talked about it a lot.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: My mindset for this year is not doing things that don't make me happy.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I just I don't want to
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: Do things that just don't make me happy and and I think that's a good lesson For any of us out there and secondly on the health side like I'm locked in I am as locked in as I have been in a long long time dump 13 pounds and I'm on a mission and I said I was going to look like Brad bit by my birthday and I will so look for these cheekbones to keep tightening in pectorals to keep getting tighter here and
- 8:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's going to be nice.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_02]: So we're moving on to Mr. Ham now.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_02]: What was your week like Mr. Ham?
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: Man, well, that's that's great to hear.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: Dude, in front of you, you know, I did a similar thing.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: I put it out on my blog this year.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted less in 2026.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: And it was just ideas of things that I wanted less of.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: And stress was one of those anger anxiety, all that kind of stuff.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: But one of the things that I didn't want less of from me personally was alcohol.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: Alcohol is one of those things we don't talk about.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to bring it up because I want to.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's helpful.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know, can be a crutch that people use and don't realize that it's an issue your strong will person you think you got under control and again for me it was never about Overuse about alcohol like I've had a pretty strong You know will as far as not drinking too much, you know, but it's just a consistency of it.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it becomes a habit to have, you know, a bourbon or a beer, you know, and it and it would look up and it's you know five days a week.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: That was just not something that I really wanted to kind of get into and so I kind of hit the brakes on that in my birthday, which was last December 29th and it's been nice man.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't, you know, I've had moments where I might man.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: I love to have a beer while I'm grilling out or whatever, but it's been a good thing and people are talking about dry January and I'm not really talking about dry January.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think with with cards with life like if you can't hit the brakes on something.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: If you can't say no to something, then that thing owns you.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: And so when it comes to your discipline with eating habits, with working out, with drinking, with whatever it is, over buying cards, getting into breaks, do you name it?
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like you have to have discipline, you have to be able to say no.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just a reminder, man, like everything is with an open palm.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's like you bring everything with an open palm.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: If you keep your palms open, you can receive things that come in.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: If you're gripping tight on life and you're holding on to everything, you're going to lose it, you know, just falls through your fingers anyway.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: Not to be all pre-cheap, but that's just kind of my mindset as I've moved into the new year.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: And it's been, it's served me well.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's really served me well because it's set of fresh cores and it's been good.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so nice on the personal side.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: Full swing with basketball season for our kids.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: We have 28 basketball games in the month of January.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but between all of our boys.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: Man, three teenage boys is tough.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they're always competitive with one another.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: They're always trying to vibe for that approval, for that validation and they're always, it's really hard, you know, I find myself at 44, you know, kind of coming through a season of my life, where I'm into comparison.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm watching my sons go through it.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just like boys.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: This is going to each you alive if you continue to compare yourself to everybody around you.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: You know, always teach this and tell people this, when they build houses at the ocean, they build the decks on the houses to look at the beauty of the ocean off the back.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: They don't build the decks to look at the beauty of your neighbor's house.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, live our life on social media.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: All we do is look at our neighbors.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, what are they doing?
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: What are they doing?
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: And comparison is a dangerous game.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: So have been navigating that with the boys getting the basketball season,
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's applicable cards too, you know, you all I can't buy this is orange.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: This big thing, but you know, it's not about comparing your collection or your hobby experience to somebody else's.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: So that said, it's been a good week for us, you know, we've continued to buy Gary.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think we're getting, you know, Bubba.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: I always, I don't know why.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: I met you as Gary.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: I have to remind myself to call you Bubba.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: Now you just call me Gary Bubba, GB, but I had to, I've had to get used to this new environment that we're in with buying, you know, because we are buying a volume that I'm more that higher than I'm comfortable with in the past, but starting to get a better handle on that,
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: starting to understand our system, starting to understand the flow has been really good.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I think we're in the wings for a lot of good winds here in the short term.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: We've got some nice orders off at PSA.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see how it comes back.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: So kind of eager to see what the next 30 to 45 days is like.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of chaos in the world around us.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's very noisy right now.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: And I think you have to be Uber discipline to kind of keep your eyes locked in.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: on what's in front of you and not get distracted with a bunch of the noise.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of the space that I'm in and I think that's applicable for, you know, today's show kind of as we as we dive in.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: So that'd be instead, man.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: Ladies and gentlemen, we have with us none other than the silence as in Nick Tucker joining us live from the great state of North Carolina.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: We got two to one North Carolina, the Georgia today boys.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: What's up, Nick?
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's going on, guys.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: I got to say we love the Tiger Woods swag behind you on the wall there.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: Amen.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: I got Tiger UDA pieces and paintings all through the house.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's a real quick, you know, this is a, this is a, this is a primarily a baseball podcast and we're talking about sports cards today, but you got a pretty substantial tiger woods, autograph and Tiger Woods collection.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: Don't you tell me about that.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm intrigued.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I've kind of been buying tiger.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: He was my first like PC when I was a kid.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: Not autographs or anything, but I would be buying any kind of cards I could and then in 2012 actually pulled one I pulled this piano thin it got a 900 out of a single box it's crazy And so that kind of spurred the whole autograph collection on on on and so now I have I try to pick up all his rare stuff like I'm not as much into like the S.P.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: authentic rookie autos and stuff like that because they're kind of out there so the stuff that's like super short printed that would have been inserted in like a football product bait and stuff like that that's what I kind of try to track down.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's crazy to, and Tiger's values have just, you know, continued to steadily climb like I mean, it's just pretty solid and he doesn't sign, I mean, he signs, but like, it's not like excessive, you know what I mean?
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he doesn't sign a ton, like anything you see in a minute is going to be numbered under 25 or short printed under 25 nowadays, anyway.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's good stuff.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: Well,
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Nick, appreciate you jumping in here on the pod, you know, Gary and I talked a little bit about our weeks and things and, you know, we're going to be chatting today just about, you know, kind of the market, the moment that we're in, kind of the build in and all that kind of stuff.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: And so, but I let you, you know, kind of kick off the convo here about we want to take the show today and certainly lean on Nick's experience in the hobby to provide some good insight for our listeners.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_02]: So obviously, like I said, I mean, not to go, I don't want to get too far to the whole con or Griffin thing, but
- 14:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure both of y'all saw my post and saw kind of what I put out there and why I put it out there and so I want to go into the details and in the thing that's been bothering me lately is And I don't know why they're doing it.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if it's maybe it genuinely is around fear.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe they're trying to find buying opportunities.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not really sure But this whole thing about like talking about selling your collection in baseball January the 25th
- 14:46[SPEAKER_02]: that that just doesn't it's not sitting well with me when the Super Bowl is two weeks away in football in the attention is on football when into I'm a numbers guy so I like to give numbers and so here's where the baseball card market is right now okay so you two will start with this in the conversation baseball market since November is up and then percent okay since November last three months November December January 6.47
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: That's solid right off season.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_02]: You look at that three years ago two and a half years ago.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: That number is your down 16.4.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_02]: So obviously, much healthier market than we were in two or three years ago, a lot more buyers a lot more people holding inventory just I mean, in the past, what people would do they get to season they dump it all right.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_02]: Well, people aren't doing that anymore.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_02]: They're getting smarter than I doing that.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_02]: The one month, it is for translation of how the month of January is low.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: Post Christmas.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_02]: We're at 1.49%.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_02]: My question to you guys is, is the baseball card market going to peak at 6.47% increase from one season of the next, because that's all what's your prediction on total market run?
- 15:57[SPEAKER_02]: Let's start with that.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_02]: What's your prediction in the next 60, 90 days?
- 16:01[SPEAKER_02]: What's the prediction for the year?
- 16:03[SPEAKER_02]: I think last year, baseball was up 28% for the year, which is a strong, strong year.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 16:12[SPEAKER_02]: and then give me your annual percentage for the year.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_02]: So whoever wants to stay, then I'll finish.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, obviously it's definitely going to be above six percent.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: So now I wouldn't say as the best time to sell, of course, some stuff is more up, more than others right now.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of attractions going on there.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I could definitely see it hitting 28% before we even get through middle of March, just with the kind of market we're in.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_01]: So I think this market this year is obviously substantially better in the last years, more people in on the Bowman.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think Bowman Draft kind of getting released later this year is going to help push the market up more.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: There's more eyes on it, starting the season, or like in January, there's always eyes, but now there's way more eyes, people chasing, case ripping all the new guys.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's only helping the people below them.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: So Nick Tucker had to put a 100 grand down on the table right now.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_02]: We're all putting a 100 grand down.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and the winner, the winner with the right answer gets 300 grand.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so that wants that out serious.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_02]: I want you to take this for our listeners today, okay?
- 17:08[SPEAKER_02]: So Nick had to put your 100 grand down.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_02]: Ham put the 100 grand down.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_02]: I'm putting my 100 grand down, okay?
- 17:13[SPEAKER_02]: And that's all serious.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_02]: I want this answer to be in 60 days.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_02]: What's Nick Tucker, we're going to come back to this.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to virtually pay each other $100,000.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: Here are the winners.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe that's a stake or whatever else.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_02]: What is the number in 60 days?
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: Nick Tucker.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: What's the percentage up?
- 17:28[SPEAKER_02]: So right now, we'll just call it.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_02]: We're up on the year 1.4 4 9% on the year.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_02]: What's just call that?
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: What are we up the opening day?
- 17:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's a whole for the year.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_00]: 30.2.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: 30.2.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_00]: Big Matt.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: Big Matt's going to say 18%.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: with 15.8, and I'll tell you why.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not coming back with my data.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_02]: Looking at last year's data, the start of the uptick, the big uptick.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_02]: Like if you're looking at a stock chart and the stock chart's going,
- 18:08[SPEAKER_02]: You know, flat it's going down is going up when it went from kind of flat last year to the spike was right now like literally next week first week of everywhere which makes sense people are starting to kind of transition from football you got a week off of football because the super just out football on at all this upcoming week the week we're in and then obviously you got the super bowl coming up after that post super bowl that was where the first big like up was like a 10% will call 10% up.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_02]: And then from there, the market did not have what it used to have.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you almost in the past go to scene, the up tick.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: And then it would have went like this all the way up, pegged out, and then just rocketed its way all the way down until back and around October when the year was over.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: And it plateaued somewhere on December.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, Benson repeat.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: Last year, it went up.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: We got this immediate pop.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: It kind of continued to pop all the way through open and day.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: And it never stopped.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_02]: You know, obviously certain player stopped.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_02]: If it didn't look well, but the guys that played well last year were meteoric.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_02]: What happened to their values?
- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: If you didn't play a little last year, you got smoked.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: But the guys that played well out did the guys that didn't on their values time and time again.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_02]: So there was more money being made on the one side and the money being lost on the other is my point.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_02]: So we're going to go.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: So we got Nick and Recap going 30% by opening day.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_02]: We got Matt Ham going 18 point what?
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: 18 flat and I'm going like 15.5 or whatever we're going to call it.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_02]: So coming back again now you got another 100 grand you're 100 grand in now now you're going to go to the other 100 now you're 200,000 then okay for this next thing what it is what is it annually so you said we're 30% neck through opening day where does it in is a percentage for the year as a whole as a whole.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_02]: So we're at 30.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're going to get close to the peak number at the opening day with the overall hype.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: My number is based on a lot of the prospects, being having really good spring trainings.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: And everybody is going to have to foam with that and go and start hammering these guys.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: And especially with the Bowman draft guys, some of the guys from last year may have been forgotten a little bit to everybody's buying like your Ethan Conrad's those guys when they come to spring training they start playing well, they're stuff's going to get a nice job.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that's going to carry the 30% opening day.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: I know it's a big number, but I'm optimistic on Chrome this year.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: And then we can see it closing out at like 35, 40% on the year.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: So what 35.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: I've already I'm running a level out throughout year.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_02]: But what number am I going to write down 35 or 40?
- 20:41[SPEAKER_02]: What's your 36 36 36% Tucker's 30 and 36.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: So ham your number.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I mean, I think if we get to 18 by opening day, I would say the overall baseball market would end at minutes to my guts tell me like 21, but I think there'll be some retreat, you know, the main book that 18 and then kind of build back into 21 through the
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: I'm playing a little Bob Barker here.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_02]: Bob, give me one more dollar than my ham.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_02]: Give me one more dollar please.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_02]: I'm at 22.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_02]: So we get that spread there, which we ain't took.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: I want the 200K each year.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going 22 and I'm going to take it a step further.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think by the time the season ends, I'm going to say that baseball's in the 30% 30% is like Tucker.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to say by the time the season ends, it ends.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I think we're going to see 10% fall in the off season next year.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're going to see people before you get to the risk of they lock out before you get to people retransmiring money.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: I don't.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to have had a really strong run by the time I think we get to this next winter.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying I'm the weatherman and I'm I'm I'm and I'm right.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: I could be the weatherman to be completely wrong, but if I was banking on it now, I'd make my chip.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'd make my cheddar and the next six months and I'd be I'd be a little bit hesitant to be holding stuff into this next upcoming winter.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_02]: I think I think you make the money while the sun shine in the sun the shine in right now and I don't see any reason that's not going to continue to shine in the media because baseball's coming and baseball's going to be king, but then I think you better have your eyes open.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_02]: once we roll around past June into July.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'll guess September, October.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: Are there scenarios where it never stops?
- 22:23[SPEAKER_02]: And we continue.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_02]: We run through next year like this.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: But whenever you get a big run up, you start getting one of, when a market goes 28% and it goes again 30 something percent, backed it back or 20 something.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_02]: Trees don't go to the sky now the here's the bullish argument on that my bullish argument is the negative is only on the fact that I think the lockout could affect things only That think the card market in general could get some fatigue going into the fall but on the bullish end of it I think fanatics has done a phenomenal job of driving new people to the space and found new ways for people to stay engaged and find new ways for people to make money
- 23:03[SPEAKER_02]: in the space and so the hobby is growing.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you look at like the Dallas car show, which I did not go, but did you all see the video of the line to get in the Dallas car show?
- 23:13[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I was there.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: Was it nuts or what?
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, on Friday night, I waited in line at Beckett for four and a half hours just to drop one sub off.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's how many people are just in line for Beckett.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, oh, show.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Saturday, you couldn't move.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: Let me Friday, you couldn't even move.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: But Saturday couldn't move at all, Sunday's small drop off, but still better than most shows.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_02]: Look at the national last year.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the national was ridiculous.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, and now you look at it's rolled into Dallas, and I've basically a lot of things on what you see people that are not in the space saying and doing.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: That's when you know something's catching fire in every single kid is back in a cart.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like every single dad and kid is like talking about cards a little bit.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_02]: Even if they're not really in it all the way, and they're just dipping the toe, they're dipping the toe.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_02]: They are interested.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_02]: You can't hardly get anywhere right now with somebody that has a kid that's, I'm just going to call it 12 and under 12 to 5 aids that isn't talking about Pokemon baseball cards football cards basketball some sort of trading collectible you know what I mean and so to me that's the bullish argument so I've got this big I've got this big pooling thing going on for me for about a year from that where we at it.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_02]: But the sun is shining for me right now and that's what I'm telling you right now.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm hit we've hit the go button So when putting my money where my mouth is last night.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_02]: I went out and I paid and I'm gonna admit this to the show Little hit Wednesday paid 13 thousand dollars for a counter Griffin gold last night PSA 10.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think the cards probably were 15,000 today I think it could be worth 17,000 in a couple weeks and so that's why I bought it right.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_02]: I mean there's there.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: I could lose 2000 just as easy I guess if he goes backwards, but I keep going back to
- 24:54[SPEAKER_02]: Why are any of these guys going to be down before the time I hit it's the first pitch and I can take them up with a reason why.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_02]: Give me a reason why it left there's people hitting the eject button the week before the season where they have fear that I can understand maybe a little kickback right before the season I'm going to hand take in some chips off the table but up until that point.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: I cannot get a compelling argument why somebody's prices are going down when there's only 10 to 20% of the potential buyers and attention at the market right now buying.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I keep saying.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_02]: I said it last week.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_02]: If we're at, you talk about you're going to the grocery store.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_02]: Both of y'all are in an area where storms came through this last week.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if y'all shop on y'all shop online, y'all go to the store, how do y'all buy groceries?
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: That goes the store in the store.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, it's about your store guys.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: You know what a normal week looks like when you go, right?
- 25:41[SPEAKER_02]: Now a store is coming in and they're telling you that, you know, it's gonna be bad.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_02]: It could be a lot of ice, it could be like, what's the store look like then?
- 25:48[SPEAKER_00]: Load it up.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: that's what's coming in baseball, the storm is coming.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: And that is what happens every single year and you can't tell me that people aren't going to the grocery store when the storm is coming.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: And that's the bottom line.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_02]: And then I'll put all go down and flames on this podcast right now, ridicule me all the way down the river and I'll quit this podcast in two months if I'm wrong, I will ever retire because I am watched.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_02]: At that point, I'm washing you so I'm a whole collection.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_02]: I am a broken sack of shit.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, if I'm wrong, all right?
- 26:20[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm making the bowl prediction right now.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_02]: There's no way this market is down by that.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_02]: But people are talking about it like doomsday.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: Mark R, who's due to various of these cards out there, initially not.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_02]: Supply and demand supplies the card market.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_02]: Supply and demand.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_02]: Look at it, honey.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_02]: He keeps going up.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'll never, I kept going on.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_02]: He's too expensive.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_02]: I shouldn't dip my toe.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_02]: He's too expensive.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_02]: I shouldn't dip my toe.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he guessed what.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_02]: I never dip my toe and I have a lot more toes if I had.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: And so, you know, I just, that's where I'm at on this game.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: I only get jealous of painting on it.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: So Nick, you've been around the space longer than we have, you know, and you've seen the meteoric rise of prospects and you've seen prospects that didn't pan out.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_00]: You've been all over this game for a number of years.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_00]: What's your take on this in the current state of the market?
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we're definitely in the hottest Chrome market we've probably ever been in.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: And you have guys not even in the top 100 with superfractors at 30, 40, 50k.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_01]: So anybody's kind of selling for something now.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_01]: So when you have a guy like Connor Griffin who's actually has some of the best minor league stats of anyone over the last, I mean, I saw a thing yesterday that a specific numbers and his numbers are better at this point than, I don't know, who was a kuna, griffy, a lot of these guys.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, he still has to perform this year and everything, but I mean, things stuff like that, you have the guys at the top who are getting these crazy numbers.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_01]: And you look at them and compare them to like a Whitt orange, like you posted on your story yesterday, Gary was like 40k.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: And Ellie Ornd probably 30k right now.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: I sold one in Dallas for near that.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: So you have these guys who have been in the league one or two, three years, who are star superstars.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: And their oranges are 30, 40 plus.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: So it makes complete sense, Griffin being right here.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_01]: Why would he not be near that?
- 28:07[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I have seen a lot of these prospects that are this hyped, they call, come up and don't do anything and then there's stuff bombs.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you have guys like Correa, who is the next A-Rot.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: He was the hottest thing that I'd ever experienced was Carlos Correa.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_01]: His stuff was insane for like 2016 market prices and then he comes up, he's mediocre and just falls off.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_01]: So, of course, that could happen to any of these guys.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like a Byron Bucks in the dude was the number one prospect for a year, next 30, 30 plus guy.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: He fell off to, we still got actually really good, but his cards just don't accumulate
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: So I've kind of been through the pitfalls and highs and lows of all that, but to me, the market on the big guys makes sense and to Gary's point-supplying demand.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: You don't see any high-income or Griffin on the market.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: So when it's out there, it's going to get the premium because people are going to fight over it.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: You see that every single year with a couple prospects that are being kind of hoarded or their stuff just don't come out, they're going to go up, it's natural.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like people have to fight for what they want.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: And if there's a big supply, it's just going to sit.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: But that's why Griffin's going up, I think.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, look at it.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's good.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's good.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's good.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's good.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's good.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's good.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's good.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's good.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's good.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's good.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's good.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's good.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's good.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: When you look at somebody that's as collectible as Jordan is and you look at the 90s inserts where there's a population of like 300 or less of these cars that were ever printed, you know, they're, those cards are locked up and personal collections for people that are completing Michael Jordan runs or whatever and you see, you know, some of these cars like we've got a lynch pins, Michael Jordan eight right now.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's consistently gone on auction at like 9,000, 10,000.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_00]: And the PSA 10's, the ones that are out there, I mean, those are $70,000, $80,000 cards.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and again, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're hoarded.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_00]: So therefore, when one comes on the market, if you want the card, you got to go get it.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's what's so interesting about the current market space with these Bowman first as they draw that kind of demand and attention.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know, again, there are only 25 orange-connered Griffiths.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_00]: There are only five reds.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_00]: There are only 150 blues.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so when you start to look at somebody that's going to have that kind of demand as a potential next guy, there's plenty of hands in the cookie jar that want to take that risk.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_00]: on him, seeing that, you know, kind of being established as the next guy.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's like RM said us on a private text the other day.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it wasn't Gary that Griffin was the first 20 60 prospect in history in his first minor league season.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_00]: Is that right?
- 30:55[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, first process is 1982 to have 20 60.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but I mean, what he didn't go on to say is that he almost bad at 340 as well.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was doing that.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I mean, you start to look at that kind of stuff and it makes sense as to why, you know, I mean, the demands there, but to your point, there's still more, you know, kind of coming in into the hobby, more interest, more capital.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_00]: And here's the other thing I want to bring up to you guys, and I don't know how much I'll follow this or not, but like, where are people put their money right now?
- 31:22[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, crypto is flat and soft.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_00]: The market is over-hyped, you know, to mean silver and gold and precious metals are to the moon.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_00]: And there's people with capital right now,
- 31:32[SPEAKER_00]: where do I put it, where do I put it, you know, and they're going, I mean, I got, I got, you know, whatever, a million dollars of extra capital out here these guys in the card market are making 20, 30% out, dabble over there, you know, the mean like, and you start to get these, these really well-established, smart folks with capital who want to hold assets and they're looking at hard assets.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, where do you think that money's going?
- 31:58[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and I can't wait, we need to do this for our listeners.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_02]: We need to peel the onion back of what we do with our business here after we get past spring spring training.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_02]: We need to do that.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_02]: We need to do a special episode and show our returns and just peel the onion back.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_02]: If you're willing to do that, and just say, like, here's what we did.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_02]: Here's how we did it because here's the honest truth on that part of the business.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's totally different from what I'm doing on the other cars that I have.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_02]: The Connor Stockpiles and the McGonagal Stockpiles and all that.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_02]: we are day trading baseball cards essentially is what we're doing and when you can take we have a $300,000 budget that we've built on this business to start off with okay that's what we started with 300,000 fold is good okay in that 300,000 I told him the other day and again when you can turn 300,000
- 32:46[SPEAKER_02]: four times five times six times in the time in several months.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_02]: That's where you met, that's where that money became one point eight.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_02]: And that's where the card market to me is so intriguing.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know anywhere where you can go make a hundred percent on your money.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_02]: in sometimes in this industry in a month, but it's unheard of to kind of money.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you talk about guys like an L.E.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure that L.E.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_02]: Red.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what you paid for when you bought at Nick, but you probably made about 1,000 percent return.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I get a 1,500 percent return.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_02]: I mean,
- 33:20[SPEAKER_02]: in a short period of time.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, at least that.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, and so there's not many places in the world, you can go and get that.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_02]: And here's the coolest part.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_02]: If you can do it and also be doing something that you truly are passionate about and joy, that's the cool thing about cards.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_02]: And I think more and more people see that.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_02]: They're gravitating to that.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_02]: You go, you know what?
- 33:36[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody talks about their side hustle this day and time.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody, even my little sisters, like, I got to have my side hustle.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody wants the side hustle because life is expensive, man.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_02]: Everything's expensive.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: Let me take my kids out, the Chick-fil-A in my life, 60 bucks, you know, and I mean, it's expensive to live.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_02]: And so, where do you go in cards and make your money work for you?
- 33:56[SPEAKER_02]: And you can do it quick, even if somebody's just doing it, they're making an extra 500 bucks a month.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_02]: That could be pivotal to their life.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_02]: and being able to take that extra trip a year for their family or to do something that maybe they wanted to do.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_00]: So, well, quick story, yeah, quick story here.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_00]: We've got a guy here locally and I don't want to give his name, but he works at a restaurant and he runs this restaurant so burger shop, whatever local spot we love at the death.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know he was in the cards and I ran into him at the post office.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, what are you doing?
- 34:24[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, I just mailing out some cards and I'm like,
- 34:25[SPEAKER_00]: baseball cards.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, oh, yeah, man, I've been into this for like a couple years on the side.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, really?
- 34:30[SPEAKER_00]: I said, I had no clue.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_00]: Dude, I said, you know, we're in the stuff and he's like, oh, I know, I've been kind of watching from the distance.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, what do you hold now?
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: Man, like, what are you in?
- 34:38[SPEAKER_00]: Dude, and he's doing that.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's buying and selling, you know, the main cards very educatedly on the side, and he's, and he's selling them out, and he's probably, you know, doing something in that neighborhood, you know, maybe an extra
- 34:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's what's the beauty of this hobby is that, you know, listen, somebody can have a golf hobby, right?
- 34:58[SPEAKER_00]: That promise you, you ain't making money playing golf, right?
- 35:01[SPEAKER_00]: You might have a hobby of boating, and I can dang sure promise you, you ain't making money on that hobby, because the boat's expensive.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: And this is a hobby that allows you the ability to do this and kind of make some money at it.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a very unique niche that a lot of people are really diving into and starting to see.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: And as the buyers become more educated and as you have this firepower from the corporate side, you know what I mean with, you know, online purchasing right now with like whatnot and fanatics live and all these different brands and you've got fanatics pumping money into the sports.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, dude, it is literally a crescendo.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_00]: I saw Gary Vee, Gary Vaynerchuk the other day.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_00]: He said that the potential upside growth over the next.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_00]: What do you say five years in online platforms like shopping online platforms?
- 35:48[SPEAKER_00]: He said it's like 500.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's like crazy.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's 500x.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's like that's where everything is going.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 35:54[SPEAKER_00]: The ability to just sell online and he said these people that are creating these brands.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_00]: that are like they're the curator of this type of like brand content.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's talking about like Mr.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: Beast and all this different type of stuff to be able to be ahead and then have these brands that are presenting these products to market or whatever.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_00]: It was fascinating to me.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_00]: And so I mean, we are in a new space.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_00]: We're in a new time.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_00]: And it ain't your grandma's, you know what I mean?
- 36:19[SPEAKER_00]: rodeo anymore.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think we have to be up on that and recognize where we are in the history of things.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no doubt.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, my grandma used to do Crawford puzzles to keep her mind sharp.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that's what people used to do.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_02]: I can tell you right now, baseball cards and sports cards keep your mind sharp.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_02]: And a friend of mine from fanatics the other day sent me an article from George Town University.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_02]: And it talked about the value.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_02]: of kids from the time that they're 10 to 15, 16, 17 years old being in sports cards and learning how to buy and sell and trade and what that does is business people down the road for them, how they how they have to talk to people, how they have to deal with failure, how they have to deal with success, how they have to be able to learn to navigate all the stuff.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, I mean this industry will teach you what not to do as much as it'll teach you what to do I promise there's a lot of bad stuff out there So I mean, but it keeps your brain so sharp when you when you play this game and you stay on top of your game I saw this this morning That's like my biggest thing in life always like how I always want to do better.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_02]: I always want to grow every day
- 37:24[SPEAKER_02]: And this came across this morning Jeff Bezos and they had an interview with him back.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_02]: Have you all seen this before for us at the where he they've interviewed him.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_02]: He's like sitting there.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_02]: He's like sitting in the grass and they're like, what's your name?
- 37:36[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, I'm Jeff Bezos.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, well, what's your what's your name to fame?
- 37:40[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, well, I started a company recently called Amazon.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_02]: And they said, well, dot com and this well, why did you start it?
- 37:46[SPEAKER_02]: He said, well, I was working for a investment banking company.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_02]: And he said, I saw something that came out that said the internet was up 2300% that year in usage.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_02]: And he said, so I decided I was going to take a leap of faith.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_02]: And I wanted to get into that industry.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_02]: at the ground level.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_02]: I wanted to get in this thing that could grow and go, and he said, I wanted to be in, so he said, what better way than to start an online company where people always want to buy books.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_02]: They always want to read.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_02]: And you think about the card industry.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of where we are.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_02]: He was like, it was the Kitty Hawk days of the online.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_02]: This is a new day of course.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_02]: What we're seeing right now.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_02]: What fanatics is done?
- 38:22[SPEAKER_02]: As you go back and look at
- 38:26[SPEAKER_02]: Why were prices lower?
- 38:29[SPEAKER_02]: Because there was nobody interested.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_02]: It was a very small percentage of people.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people get mad and say, all these new people and they don't know what they're doing.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_02]: Newsflash.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_02]: That's what's bringing the prices up.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: Is that all these people are coming to the space in is making this space grow.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's making this space something that's going to last.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway, I'll get off my soapbox on that.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_00]: not I think it's great you know to really settle down.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to like I recognize I mean I tend to be somebody who is more conservative in my fault or whatever and so I always look at things with this kind of like skeptical eye you know and people kind of pick on me but at the same time like
- 39:07[SPEAKER_00]: I have watched what the card hobby has done for my family, and especially for my son, and I am like, man, this is, it's just unbelievable, you know, I mean, I have to pinch myself.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why I told Little Matt, I said, if this year is any better than last year, I'm going to have to, you know,
- 39:25[SPEAKER_00]: build a, build a bag to hold all of my, you know, joy because I mean last year, do we got to go to Fanatics Fest in the national, we got to travel, we got to go to the All-Star game, you know, we got to hang out with you.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's like, this is so cool with an entire, like, separate, almost aspect of my life that I never even thought I would get to do.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_00]: And the community around it is just as fascinating, man.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, again, as much as I have
- 39:55[SPEAKER_00]: of the right.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I do want to open up one more topic.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_02]: I know we're we're coming up on almost 50 minutes in here now.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_02]: So Tucker, I want you to kind of leave this off.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_02]: We mean, hey, we've been talking a lot.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_02]: Want to get your opinion on this.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_02]: How do you feel?
- 40:07[SPEAKER_02]: Do you feel like grading timing right now?
- 40:10[SPEAKER_02]: Like how long it's taking to physically get a graded card back is going to affect people buying and cracking cards and timing when it goes to cell cards.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_02]: Because obviously in the past, cracking cards was a
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: And it still is to some regard, but when Beckett now is almost at four months, on stuff you're mailing into them, when PSA is not even logging cards that you're mailing into them for two or three weeks to keep their timelines true, you know, and it's taking forever to get stuff back.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_02]: How do you feel like that's affecting the game?
- 40:44[SPEAKER_02]: And how do you feel like people are working around that?
- 40:47[SPEAKER_02]: Or what's your opinion on that?
- 40:49[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I mean, people are definitely working around it just seeing that in Dallas, like how many people were trying to submit cards in person because you're guaranteed them by then to the weekend.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_01]: So I think the show intake for grading is just going to keep going up because nobody wants to wait for much.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_01]: You just physically can't.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you're doing ballman right now and you're trying to grade the new guys, you can't send it in on a regular or even express level because you're not going to get it back.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_01]: So you're having to spend 300 plus just to get some of this new ballman graded.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_01]: From that side, pops are going to remain low on 10s, especially on a lot of the new moment.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be low pop stuff.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: I could see people going more towards Beckett since they're, they do a lot of the inch dough stuff until the national at least, but like it Dallas, and I think it Burbank in a couple of weeks, Beckett's going to be there.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_01]: They'll probably be grading on site, PSA will be doing takebacks, I mean, these show submissions are just going to keep going up.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_02]: So what's going to help you say at Dallas or no was PSA at Dallas?
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: Nope, just back it.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_01]: So it's kind of, I mean, like, a lot of the TCG guys are using back it too.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_01]: So it's a lot of mix of that to try to get black labels and things.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_01]: But as far as like turn around and things like that, I do think it's gonna low pop chrome stuff that's just coming out and hold its value longer.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_02]: Since people aren't just slacking.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_02]: To your point, what you just said, you just hit on something really interesting, you said that people are having to go and pay more on the grading levels to get the card back in time to sell.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_02]: If you're PSA and you own the market, now you own back it, now you own SGC and you own what 90% of the card grading mark, volume.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_02]: In most people are going through your core of company and all of a sudden you're timing is slower and people have to go higher Do you think that that's not something they like?
- 42:23[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you don't want to get jealous opinion on that.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_02]: This isn't a change rating forever.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_02]: You know, does this end up changing how they operate forever?
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: It could.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the demands there.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, they just have to keep hiring people that which doesn't seem they've done that in the past several years They've just kind of let the demand sit there for all the graded product and just the demand it shows and everything this seems growing for them
- 42:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't see why they would change it.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: They're just going to keep making more money and this does benefit like your third party guys who do drop stuff off in person like you have Yoda Sean high in case breaks you have those guys those guys obviously benefit greatly from the delays.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_01]: Because people just want to go through them to save the time.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_02]: What about, uh, have you ever done like a physical drop off yourself, Tucker?
- 43:04[SPEAKER_02]: Have you ever gone to like now?
- 43:06[SPEAKER_02]: I know cards HQ and Atlanta has a drop off physical PSA location inside of you ever done.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_02]: Something like that actually taking into location yourself and seeing if it's any faster.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_01]: No, the only location I've dropped off is actually at PSA.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_01]: I've flown out there several times and dropped stuff off with them.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, that's faster because it gets long almost the same day.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's just handed off to them.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_01]: Skips the whole shipping and check-in process.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: But I have noticed when giving it to like the third party guys that hand-deliver it, it does get done substantially quicker than if you mail it in the back of the PSA yourself where it's going to sit there and the mail processing.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: They got to sift through it, then goes to a different stack, then to be checked in two, three weeks later.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_02]: So are you when you're seeing that right now?
- 43:47[SPEAKER_02]: Are you seeing the actual turnaround to be what's actually on the website?
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to say that, but it is getting quicker.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's at least, this is probably at least a month quicker maybe.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know just because you're skipping the whole shipping process, like in processing times.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: And those guys are going to get stuff pushed in quicker because they have reps and all that and they can walk in it.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_01]: But I guess like it cards HQ, I would assume they probably have a deal to where things get done slightly quicker than if somebody ran them off the street since it is.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_02]: Well, suppose they log it right when they get it because it's a PSA location.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_02]: It is a true PSA location.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's not cards HQ.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_02]: It is truly PSA.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_02]: So that'll be curious to see.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you know, I mean, it's definitely worth trying out.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it seems like in theory it would because you're skipping that old login process that they would have to do in California near New Jersey, wherever they receive your cards up.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and you know, the interesting piece about this is I remember back when we first got into the hobby, you know, the backlog at PSA was crazy people were talking about taking a year to get a card back on like a, you know, the main bulk order, me whatever the craziness was and they hired a bunch of people and all that kind of stuff and, you know, it it got.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_00]: to where it was manageable.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_00]: And then now with PSA, you know, taking over STC or collectors or whatever and the whole thing about bet, like, it's almost like it's created a rush wave back into, you know, the PSA market.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_00]: And now it's getting a little flooded again.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_00]: So, I mean, how they navigate this in the days ahead is very important because, you know, for a collector, like I had a guy drop off, you know, some cards that he had when he was a kid and he mailed them off.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_00]: I've got a Hank Aaron signature on Carter, whatever, and this guy would like to get those graded.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, it's going to be, I feel like, six to eight months, you know, to me, to get those cards graded.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's crazy.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so then you go, well, do you want to take it to the national and do it on site, you know what I mean?
- 45:37[SPEAKER_00]: and pay $200 a card, you know what I mean?
- 45:40[SPEAKER_00]: That's not efficient.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_00]: So it has created this kind of interesting log jam and how you navigate that I think is super.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_00]: And then you get a lot of these breakers, right?
- 45:49[SPEAKER_00]: They offer what grading as you break it.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_00]: You know, yeah.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: And they had the best cards been breaking like at PSA and stuff.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_01]: So that.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_00]: I mean.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_00]: So so there's a lot of interesting things developing there.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_02]: There is it's I just wonder we've talked about this before on the show.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know when that day is going to happen.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_02]: But when is a PSA nine going to start getting it to do respect against a raw card.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, when is that going to change?
- 46:15[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we've talked about it.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_02]: Well, PSA nine's going to start, you know, everybody's always said Rawls.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_02]: PSA nine.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_02]: I just feel like PSA not PSA 10's getting the premium still and the nine's just kind of getting forgotten.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, in my opinion, it's just like it just, I mean, you see some situations where like a booms and stuff where people just clearly know that every kaboom that's selling raw destroyed.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_02]: So they just, they don't get the same nine to raw value, but in baseball, I feel the majority of the time we're all still getting nine most of the time are pretty darn close, which I was opinion on that on nine.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're going to see that change.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, from what I've seen of this year's Bowman draft, there's a lot of issues.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_01]: So nine's might, this could be the kind of turning point for that because a nine is basically last year's tin in this set.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of scratching print marks.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's not good.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_01]: I've opened, I mean, I saw you opened a couple cases.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: I've done a couple cases.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_01]: I've bought a ton of raw feedback.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's not looking great.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: So on some of these things,
- 47:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, the thing is, too, as you start to look at, you know, there's a difference between getting in 10 or in 9 in a fresh out of the product prospect versus looking at like a show hay or a Hank, I mean, a Aaron judge and having it and not like did your 9's on proven players still are going to hold I think significant value and I think on proven players 9's quite frankly are undervalued.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_00]: you know because you get these tens that just sit there but it takes some time and you see that with the Jordan insert market.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_00]: Tins forget about it.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_00]: Don't go by one.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_00]: This is going to cost you an arm on the leg but if you can scoop in and get the nine or the eight it's still undervalued and that's what's seen the run up in the recent, you know, last year is people go okay there's only three of this card in existence.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_00]: There's only 20 PSA 10s.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_00]: There's 70 PSA 9s.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go get a 9 and poop the 9s have just gone to the moon.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_00]: And so that, I think, applies across the hobby when you start to see proven baseball players.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's harder on the prospect space, but I think people might wise up and go do.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_00]: The fact of having a 9 versus a 10 on a prospect Chrome card is one minor,
- 48:18[SPEAKER_00]: You know, kind of blip that I mean, it's really not that difference and on a numbered card already where the population's 25 At some point time it becomes about just having the card.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I mean, so I think time kind of wears that thing out.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think it goes back to just the supply and demand thing too.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like if I mean if there's only 25 oranges, let's say there's 10 of them or 10s, but all 10 are kind of locked away.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_01]: Next best thing you have to buy a nine or you sit on the sidelines, you choice.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I know like Walker Jenkins is one of our guys and you know, I know for a fact we study the population Walker Jenkins oranges there are only six tens I think I think it's six tens in the oranges and so we have one maybe two but they they.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_00]: they're just not existing.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, nine's are, you know, going to get demand because the tens don't exist, you know, and so when you start to get nuanced in your collecting and in your market research and you understand that there's a very limited number of gems on certain parallels and certain players, that's when you can take advantage of those values.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I may have to change my Instagram name to the card card because I'm just eating all the like the trash dropping to the bottom of the the lake here because I love buying nine's and eight's myself.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, because they're always there like you can look at true y'all brought up like true color if there's an orange nine or eight up that I'm salivating to buy it.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_02]: I truly am if it's a gold I'm salivating to buy it those lower grades because they'll sit there sometimes and then when you stockpile if you believe in that player the color what color it is what really matters.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_02]: You get the 10, then you're ecstatic, I, but.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_02]: those guys are going to double triple quadrupled themselves because you bought the right player and you had the big color.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, to me, I love buying nine's and eight's of a big, a big time prospects that I believe in because a three usually were a buy generally.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you can get them at value and you can stomach the hold a little bit longer.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I mean, for somebody who doesn't want to throw a ton of capital into the ring, I mean, that just takes a ton of sense.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and there's 10 to, you know, I could say there's so
- 50:19[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 50:19[SPEAKER_00]: If you if you did have ten graders look at it, I mean, I guarantee you it wouldn't be across the board that everybody says it's in nine or everybody says it's it's it, you know, whatever.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think you would have some some utility in the grading there because it's subjective so that said boys, I know we're kind of getting close to our time thing here any final thoughts for today show and kind of wrapping up the ideas.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_02]: I just wonder if we could get Nick Tucker to give us his three favorite baseball buys because we always give our opinions on here.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_02]: We've heard arms.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_02]: We've heard mine.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_02]: We've heard hands.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_02]: We've heard current.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_02]: Give us your top three to five best Nick Tucker picks in the next 60 days.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_02]: So I might go by a couple of before the episode airs on Wednesday.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_02]: So like we'll say like my prospect it could be a major leader that you're just like man this guy's undervalued it could be anything baseball It's got to be baseball not vintage, please.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think the number one is Ronald Alcuna.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think tuna for what he is is the most undervalued player in baseball
- 51:16[SPEAKER_01]: just across the board, the guy had statistically one of the best seasons ever has an MVP and it's like people forget he exists half the time.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like they'll rather go by one soda over a kuna to me that makes no sense.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_01]: That you're not gonna, no one's gonna convince me that that makes sense.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_01]: So a kuna first off is definitely one of the big guys under the rate.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to think of more under the radar guys.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_01]: This one's super off the beaten path under the radar.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's on the Yankees, Richard Maddock.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_01]: I've been buying him.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's got some pot for where he's currently at.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_01]: I got a super, I have some other stuff of him, so I'm just kind of holding him out.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think he saw it.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_01]: So those two have been buying and then kind of coming up to the third one here.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_01]: He's from the new product.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I like Jojo Parker.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_01]: I know a lot of people do.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_01]: No secret.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_01]: But just given what he is, Toronto seems to turn out prospects pretty well.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's a big guy, lefty, hits for power.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_01]: Seems like a solid a pick for anybody.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I could see him kind of having like that rise that some of the guys from last year did.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like McGonagoul, Rainer, some of those guys that they were good when the products came out but then towards the end of the year and now there's stuff's crazy.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_01]: And Rainer's even hurting his stuff's going crazy.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_01]: So I could see guys like Parker kind of getting that jump from today to next year.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_02]: So who's the one guy now?
- 52:30[SPEAKER_02]: You're not telling us about because we know you just held you held one back.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_02]: You gave us you gave us three, but it really wasn't your favorite.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_02]: So who's really your favorite Tucker?
- 52:38[SPEAKER_02]: Give us the one you're not telling us about.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, dojo Parker and Dax killed me or my favorites.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_02]: Dax killed me.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_02]: You know who bought the two orange decks kill me yesterday.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_02]: I'm assuming you and that's my first dip man in the product I haven't even dipped in until yesterday.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_02]: I finally was like you know what I saw the two oranges sitting there of a Yankee I love Spencer Jones.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_02]: I love Yankee prospects.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_02]: I had to do it So bottom yet.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know here's another one of them at the home out there.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe this is the year.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's not but Jason Dominguez has to get some playing time eventually
- 53:07[SPEAKER_02]: last year when he got playing time he was solid he had two three home run games it's just a crowded outfield and i feel like it's a mismanagement issue per Yankee prospects i just mismanage all of them just could be the dominion talker i would give you a kiss right now if i could to me to me jason dominions is i don't understand it i don't
- 53:31[SPEAKER_02]: with the home run he hit the big home run to start a young member of that remember that moment I mean it's like the kid goes out last year what is he 20 he just turned 22 he just turned 22 yeah he's he's younger than half of the guys in draft is crazy
- 53:48[SPEAKER_02]: If the kid is ridiculously talented, he plays in New York, and it's like the market is just blackballed him.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_02]: But you know what, like guys like that, I've always talked about it.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_02]: When the guy has shown ceiling before, you know where he can go back, he can go right back to it.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_02]: Those type or prospect are the ones you want.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_02]: Guys that have had the hype before guys that can get right back to there because the market has shown you that they can get there And I'm telling you domin guys.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_02]: I was looking yesterday.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think his 499 PSA 10 has her fracker was like $360 for the last purchase.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_02]: That is Freminal.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and no brainers.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_01]: Essentially no risk almost like it is.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_01]: This is not a good one.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_00]: He clearly is good when he plays Trader to the Braves will use him.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't hate that
- 54:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's got, he's got a lot of track to run on for sure.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_00]: Well, guys, I'm not to cut our combo short, love the ability to chat and I know that all of our listeners appreciate kind of the insight.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_00]: And again, for those who do listen, let us know who your buys are.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_00]: You know, comment on the YouTube post or comment on our IG posts and just let us know who you're buying.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_00]: I love seeing everybody's different take.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 54:52[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what's so great about the hobbies.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_00]: There's so many different places you can go and everybody's very strategic about why they buy and who they buy.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's what it makes it fun, you know what I mean, there's different guys chasing different stuff and you know, it's a cool, it's a cool mix, you know, that drives this hobby, which is certainly what makes it fun for anybody at any level of when you want to get in and how you want to get in.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_00]: So boys, thank y'all Nick.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for jumping on, bro.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 55:16[SPEAKER_00]: joining us from the icy roads of a Winston Salem.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_00]: Looks like we might have some snow down here at the coast this weekend.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_00]: So I might be bundled up and getting ready myself.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_00]: But as Gary said, when it snows, the super market is full, boys and girls.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_00]: So we get ready for a Bowman because it's getting ready to snow in baseball.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of people come into the table.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_00]: So thank you guys so much for listening and tuning in to sports cards.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_02]: See you boys.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_02]: Y'all get y'all's Bowman, Brad and milk.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_02]: Get your bread milk, folks.
