- 0:00To my knowledge we're the biggest Jewish YouTube channel
- 0:03which is like crazy. Like I grew up watching YouTube
- 0:07so to see me as a YouTube like it's very cool.
- 0:11Dream come true ish. Business Oshie, None of Your
- 0:16Business, Michael, it's the None of Your Business podcast hosted
- 0:19by Michael Anoshie. Welcome back, everybody to
- 0:22another inspiring episode of the None of your Business podcast.
- 0:26You like that one? Yeah, I.
- 0:27Went there. You went there.
- 0:29Let's go further. I had to.
- 0:30Well, we're back and I'm your host, Michael Greenfield, joined
- 0:33with Oshie Schwartz. Thank you all for your
- 0:35subscriptions and your comments. We're loving the energy.
- 0:38We're loving the growth. And Speaking of growth, we have
- 0:41with us none other than Ryakov Langer here.
- 0:44Rather person I like it but I have a question before we even
- 0:46start. Should I like ask questions also
- 0:49as we go a little or do you want me to like be more just
- 0:52answering the questions? I will say this, yeah, you're
- 0:55the guy with 1.4. Mobile sex, yeah.
- 0:58Yeah. So as far as I'm concerned, it
- 1:00is an honor for us to be. Oh.
- 1:02My gosh, I'm just a regular. So you tell us how you want this
- 1:04to go you. You, you.
- 1:05It's your. It's your baby.
- 1:06I'll, I'll. Well.
- 1:07First of all, I will tell you that anybody that teaches me
- 1:09anything, I call Reb, OK? To me, just because, you know,
- 1:12Busser Bhalov meat and dairy doesn't mean that I look up to
- 1:14you, you know, and you get your certification as a rabbi.
- 1:17So to me, someone who teaches me something as a rabbi, you taught
- 1:20me a lot. I, I, if people don't know, I
- 1:22actually taught him all the luck is about.
- 1:25Yeah, it was great. You you picked it up very
- 1:27quickly. You were you were actually, you
- 1:29know, when when we came up with this concept of creating a
- 1:31podcast, I needed to call the biggest and best in the industry
- 1:34and I called you. I didn't.
- 1:35Say like and he couldn't pick up.
- 1:36So 13 calls later, you're like, Oh yeah, blinker, why not, let's
- 1:40do it. Why not?
- 1:40But we had a call and it was really, it was great.
- 1:42I mean, you gave me a lot of strength and you also told me
- 1:45the reality of what it's about. And I really enjoy it.
- 1:49I, I, I enjoyed listening to what you said and I'm enjoying
- 1:52the art of learning how to listen, which is, which is
- 1:55something we're, we're, we both had a difficult time doing.
- 1:59Very gracious about it. I was on that call as well and
- 2:02you were sort of preparing us for.
- 2:04You guys are so nice. You literally paid me money for
- 2:06that time. I don't know if you remember
- 2:08that you paid me. You know what I respected?
- 2:10That, yeah. But like, thank you.
- 2:12Like you gave me all these things, but like it was a
- 2:14transaction. I probably say this once every
- 2:16podcast. If you're good at something,
- 2:17don't do it for free. I thought 100,000 was a big ass,
- 2:20but you guys were ready to do it.
- 2:21I'm like, OK, let's do it. You know what?
- 2:23I'm gonna. Put my kids to yeshiva with
- 2:25that. We have made a payment plan we.
- 2:27Have exactly. Yeah, that's why I'm actually
- 2:28here like. We have a we have a thing that
- 2:31we started. That's what chat sheet PT says
- 2:34about you, OK? And that's how we start our
- 2:35program. For those that don't know you,
- 2:37you know, it says here, you know, I'm gonna start with the
- 2:39last one. It says, if you don't know
- 2:41Yaakov yet, don't worry. After today you'll realize
- 2:43you're basically living under a hollow cover.
- 2:45That's you know. OK, the guy like throwing their
- 2:47Jewish. Yes, exactly.
- 2:48Like it learned, it got to know me after a while because you're
- 2:50like the 7th, 8th guest that we're doing this.
- 2:53I like that it's right to. Stick with Have you ever chatted
- 2:55to Petite yourself? Like, ask who Yakov lingers.
- 2:59Yeah, I don't know, I guess. I guess it's like the new, like,
- 3:02did you ever Google yourself? I don't think so yet.
- 3:06You know what? I've asked, I have asked it like
- 3:08based on all the questions I've asked, I've seen this somewhere
- 3:10that like could you explain who I am to you or like what I'm
- 3:13doing right or what I'm doing wrong?
- 3:15The problem is I share my subscription with like a few
- 3:17people at living with high as well as my brother who's an
- 3:19attorney. So like it was like throwing in
- 3:21things like, well, you're a hard working attorney who's also very
- 3:24into data. I'm like that's, but it's like
- 3:26mixing up a lot of people. So you're saying similar like a
- 3:28Netflix account you're sharing? Exactly.
- 3:29Of course, of course, of course. You got it.
- 3:32This is this is the business related podcast for Giving Up.
- 3:35Absolutely. Yakov Langer is basically the
- 3:37Jewish media's world Swiss Army knife.
- 3:39He produces, directs podcasts and somehow still finds time to
- 3:43be funny. OK, wow, OK, that's that's the
- 3:46first thing it says. A good sense of humor.
- 3:49I think I'm a good sense of humor.
- 3:51I, I don't get to use it so much on my podcast because I think
- 3:54it's become like more serious. But I think in my beginning
- 3:57years of podcasting, you'd hear a lot more humor.
- 3:59I appreciate I I love humor. I do like comedy and stuff.
- 4:02OK, we do too. And I'm I'm glad that's where
- 4:04we're starting. He's the guy behind some of the
- 4:06slickest Jewish content. Out there Slickest if you've.
- 4:09Laughed, cried or shared a Jewish video recently?
- 4:12Odds are that Yaakov had something to do with it.
- 4:14That's a great compliment. It's so nice.
- 4:15I really thank you, Chachi. Yeah, it's very nice.
- 4:18Yeah. You should have asked, like,
- 4:19what are the faults of Yaquelinger Touch?
- 4:21If you do what it like, go crazy.
- 4:22Let me go back to that. Yeah, that's a new.
- 4:24That's a much more fun like, tell us the worst parts about
- 4:27this person we're having on. Oh my gosh.
- 4:29Oh, you know what? Look, you know it.
- 4:31It just keeps praising you. I mean, to be honest with you,
- 4:33there's a lot to praise. You started something that when
- 4:36you started it, it was like a new phenomenon.
- 4:38And it grew so fast. And I really want to just get
- 4:41right into it. It it just.
- 4:42I can't keep praising you like this.
- 4:43Yeah. Come on, I don't.
- 4:45Want to get to your head? I think that just the most basic
- 4:47fundamental introduction is Yaakov Langer, as far as I know
- 4:51is the largest from Jewish podcaster that's out there with
- 4:55the biggest following. It's crazy.
- 4:57It's unbelievable. That's a major accomplishment.
- 5:00It's not just me though, meaning like living with I am, I guess,
- 5:02you know, I did start it, but like, I look at it like my
- 5:05brother Ellie, who's older than me, is just as much with it as,
- 5:09as I am. And then we have someone on our
- 5:10team, Yoni Schwartz, and we have people.
- 5:12So like, it's not, I guess it's like a growth hack.
- 5:15It's not just one podcast. We have 7-8 podcasts ongoing on
- 5:19our channel. So it's kind of like, I guess a
- 5:22hack. We have like a bunch, not just
- 5:23one. But yeah, to my knowledge, we're
- 5:26the biggest Jewish YouTube channel, which is like crazy.
- 5:30Like I grew up watching YouTube, so to see me as a YouTube, like
- 5:34it's very cool. Dream come true ish.
- 5:37Yeah, it's crazy. It would give me so much anxiety
- 5:41to know that there's millions of people that are watching me and
- 5:44listening to every word. You don't like it?
- 5:46I, I don't know, I have, I don't have that experience yet.
- 5:49So I'm not sure a part of me probably feels compelled to want
- 5:53it because it's exciting. It's great.
- 5:55I, I love to be out there. I'm, I'm a type of person.
- 5:58I like to be the center of attention.
- 5:59I certainly don't shy away from it, but then there's that next
- 6:03level, that next level of millions.
- 6:04But it doesn't, it feels to me, it feels like I think Casey
- 6:07Neistat said that's that, he said the 1st 10,000 subscribers
- 6:11or fans or whatever you want to call them is the hardest.
- 6:14And I think, but once you get past that, it just doesn't feel
- 6:17real. Like literally on like someone
- 6:19outside, forgot his name. He's like whitish here, but he
- 6:21doesn't look so old. He's like, oh, Yaklinger.
- 6:23And like he stopped me. And to me it always feels weird.
- 6:26I'm like, wait, people actually watch it?
- 6:28Like you see the numbers, but it doesn't feel real.
- 6:30I'm sure you guys have that also.
- 6:31Like you're doing it. We're just in this room.
- 6:33There's four of us in this room. And then you'll meet someone.
- 6:36They'll be like, oh, I heard it. And you're like, it's like, yes,
- 6:39of course you're putting it out there so people could hear it,
- 6:41but it's just feels surreal that like, wait, there are actual
- 6:43humans consuming that. I get stopped more than I did 10
- 6:47years ago, that's for sure. So.
- 6:48On a daily basis. I'm not Yako Schwecki, but I get
- 6:50stopped a bunch, yeah. People recognize.
- 6:52It it's usually people that are not sure.
- 6:56I don't know what it is about my face.
- 6:58Maybe it's sometimes I have a beer, sometimes I don't.
- 6:59Sometimes longer hair, shorter hair and they're like, they're
- 7:02not sure. Or maybe it's like weird to be
- 7:04like, oh, Yako Blinger. But yeah, they're like, usually
- 7:07uncertain something that's from my voice.
- 7:09It's always weird, like I'm ordering something and they're
- 7:11like, hey, I think I know your voice.
- 7:13I'm like my face is on the album artwork like but.
- 7:16How does it make you feel when that?
- 7:18It feels good. I like like you said, I like
- 7:20attention. I'm the youngest of four boys,
- 7:22so maybe I didn't get. I meant my parents are great.
- 7:24My mother's gonna. She's listens to everything.
- 7:26Ma. I love you, Daddy.
- 7:27I love you. But maybe I didn't get as much
- 7:30attention as I wanted. So now I'm getting attention.
- 7:33So it's great. I like it.
- 7:35I don't know, some people don't really don't like the limelight
- 7:38and I've learnt that from experience.
- 7:40I've had some hosts of shows that we have that they're great
- 7:43by. Like I'll give you an example,
- 7:45like one of our hosts, Yoni Kleschek of that's an issue.
- 7:49It's a mental health podcast. I would go to his Shabbos table
- 7:51and he's, he's a good friend of mine.
- 7:53So funny. He's he's an attorney.
- 7:54He's well spoken. But when it came to like, when
- 7:56it comes to like just being out there, I took it for granted.
- 7:59I'm like, yeah, of course. Like we, I like attention.
- 8:01He does not like attention. So he's a great host, but he
- 8:04also like, doesn't like being out there.
- 8:06So come to learn. Like, wait, not everyone's like
- 8:09that. I think the common denominator
- 8:10is that we're making an impact and that really, at the end of
- 8:13the day, is the best part. I mean, do you get a lot of
- 8:15hate? I get a lot of not personal hate
- 8:18like from like pro Palestinian kind of that kind of hate like
- 8:22like literally millions of comments.
- 8:25It slowed down as the war is just continuing, but personally
- 8:30not as much. I also I maybe I'm different.
- 8:34I don't really take it to heart. I, I think I heard a quote from,
- 8:37I think it was from Chris Voss, he's a FBI negotiator.
- 8:40He said never take criticism or advice from someone that didn't
- 8:45succeed in that field. So I always feel like if
- 8:48someone's coming at me online, it's not the same exact advice,
- 8:52but like, I don't really know them personally.
- 8:53So yes, if I got advice from my Rebbe or criticism from my Rebbe
- 8:57who like I really care about, I would take that to heart.
- 9:00But it's usually people I don't know.
- 9:01So what? Do What do we do about this
- 9:03anti-Semitism? On SO I think I maybe I don't
- 9:07know, again, I'm just like a random podcaster guy, like I
- 9:09don't really know. I don't know history well, I
- 9:11think it's always been there and I think it's just now coming
- 9:15out. But like I think we were just
- 9:17like in this golden age past like 70 years of just oh, it's
- 9:21OK. But like Robin were always like
- 9:23they really do hate us. I think they always hated us and
- 9:25now it's just like more out there.
- 9:28It's very tiring. I'm very tired from it from
- 9:31social media perspective. I mean, obviously it sucks, but
- 9:34yeah, it's just tiring to go on social media and be like
- 9:37anything's just thrown out like on on Twitter or X.
- 9:40It's just. And you see it all.
- 9:42I see a lot of that. Yeah, it's, it's, yeah.
- 9:45Tiring is the word that I I would use.
- 9:48So, yeah, could we go back to not the very beginnings, but
- 9:52let's go back who you are, like where you come from.
- 9:56Yeah. From, you know, you're this
- 9:57Jewish boy. Probably grew up somewhere in
- 9:59New York, I imagine. Bush.
- 10:00Yeah. And you made it big time.
- 10:03You know, maybe. I really don't feel like that
- 10:04I'm. I'm gonna say it.
- 10:05I'm as far as an observer like myself.
- 10:08I'm a casual fan of yours. I've seen your podcast.
- 10:11Thank you. And you just came out of nowhere
- 10:14and just like one day you're like this massive, massive
- 10:17following, which is a pretty big deal.
- 10:19Just walk me back to when this concept even began for you of
- 10:23wanting to do a podcast, but go a little bit prior to that, a
- 10:26little bit about you, you know, growing up married.
- 10:29Give me the give me the give me some of the flavor of what makes
- 10:33Who makes the alcohol? I'll give you the flavor.
- 10:34I'll give you the spiel. I grew up in.
- 10:37I was born 1992, grew up in Flatbush in Brooklyn when
- 10:40Flatbush was the IT place. I feel like now it's like kind
- 10:43of a little more out of town. Like it was great.
- 10:46I had great experience. Like I mentioned, I was the
- 10:48youngest of four boys and my three older brothers are closer
- 10:52in age. They're all like 2 years apart.
- 10:54And then my brother above me, my brother Yitz, he's four years
- 10:57apart. So I was kind of like the
- 10:59younger one and, and they were like going out to yeshiva.
- 11:02So I got away with being able to like watch more movies and and
- 11:07TV. So I think for me, that was the
- 11:13beginning of just training myself.
- 11:15I didn't realize at the time I just enjoyed it, of just getting
- 11:18good media and good content. It wasn't Jewish stuff.
- 11:22It was Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon and Disney Channel
- 11:25and whatever movies it was. And I think I got a bigger
- 11:29exposure than the usual person to that kind of stuff.
- 11:33Again, love you, Ma. But I think through that I, I, I
- 11:38didn't know at the time, it was really training me to like, I, I
- 11:41didn't know I was kind of studying it because I wasn't, I
- 11:43just experienced it. And then as I was getting older,
- 11:47there was just this massive hole in, I think that from community,
- 11:50like we're so good at business, we're so good at learning Torah.
- 11:54When it came to content there was great like those audio perm
- 12:00story kind of stuff and and Kunda like they were good stuff
- 12:04like that and some music, like there's good music.
- 12:07Uncle Maishi. Uncle Maishi But like when it
- 12:09came to like Jewish content, I think it was always considered
- 12:12like in quotes user, like the Internet was user or movies were
- 12:15user. So I don't think we really
- 12:17worked on it or really progressed on it as a as like
- 12:19the Orthodox community and there's just this massive hole.
- 12:22So I think what really helped the from community, I guess
- 12:27accept it more is, is the fact that like everyone was like,
- 12:29yeah, Internet's user, but everyone had the Internet.
- 12:32It's here, you know, it's here. And then they they kind of
- 12:34realized like, OK, now. And I don't blame the Rab on
- 12:37them. I think they just didn't realize
- 12:39what it was maybe same way like we don't really understand what
- 12:42like AI really is like, I don't know what it's going to be like
- 12:45in five years. So can't blame them in 1995 when
- 12:47the Internet was just like coming out and e-mail and all
- 12:50that kind of stuff. So now it's like, OK, it's here
- 12:52and now, like let's get filters. Let's let's OK.
- 12:55Nothing wrong with having the Chase app on your phone or Waze.
- 12:59It's a kind of a necessity at this point.
- 13:01So the same way that that kind of shifted, I think social media
- 13:05help shift, but something that I was really so turned off from is
- 13:10there were people on, I'm not going to call anyone out like on
- 13:13Instagram and they were amassing a following and there's not one
- 13:17person in particular. There's a few of them.
- 13:18And to me, they weren't like, and they're Jewish and they're
- 13:21kind of like distorting Jewish values.
- 13:23And they were they are from people.
- 13:25But like, OK, if you're not, you know, Orthodox or religious and
- 13:28you're doing whatever you are doing on social media, that's
- 13:30fine. But when you're like saying, Oh,
- 13:32I am from and I'm doing this. And then they're like like
- 13:35starting to bash certain rebuttal or trying to like just
- 13:37straight up say lush and hara and just like just distort like
- 13:40what's normal. I was like, OK, there's got to
- 13:43be something to be done because regular era good people are
- 13:46starting. OK.
- 13:47They're just these people on social media, they're louder and
- 13:50they're they're entertaining. So they're getting a following
- 13:52on like we need to do something. Misrepresenting.
- 13:55Us misrepresenting and they're getting a following and it's
- 13:57like now people are starting to get there in quotes dust over
- 14:00from like this crumb crooked person or people.
- 14:03I'm like that's bad. So I just started personally
- 14:06like posting on like WhatsApp status and Snapchat story this
- 14:11like right before I got married and and it was it was fun.
- 14:13I just enjoyed the storytelling of it and I, I, I.
- 14:16That was your first move, was WhatsApp status, Yeah.
- 14:20Yeah, like hymen. When was this?
- 14:21Like what this is? 2014 This is 2014.
- 14:25Like 11 years. Ago Yeah, I was a Casey Neistat.
- 14:27I remember was like just getting into YouTube vlogging, like it
- 14:30wasn't even a thing yet. I remember following along Logan
- 14:33Paul and David Dobrik again, these are like big people in the
- 14:37non Jewish world. And I thought like, wow, this is
- 14:39so entertaining. And it was like a shift for me.
- 14:41It was starting to like the first time I was like, this is
- 14:43more interesting to me than than movies and TV, which I I
- 14:47appreciated. But like there's like that human
- 14:49connection and like I'm like, I would love to have that in the
- 14:52film world. So I kind of like start again.
- 14:54I don't want to be an influencer.
- 14:56I think there was always like a stigma and I think there still
- 14:58is, but whatever. I just started doing that.
- 15:01Wanted your voice to be heard, yeah.
- 15:02I I wanted not even that I wanted to like storytell like I
- 15:05I loved, I loved it growing up and I was like getting stories
- 15:09from movies and TV shows and and yeah, I wanted it to be a part
- 15:13of that. I I I was like kind of done
- 15:15consuming it. I wanted to now be providing it.
- 15:19And did you, I'm just curious, you got guests at in the
- 15:22beginning when you started doing this like it was there?
- 15:24No, in the beginning it was more of like just me.
- 15:26I remember I would literally like I was very involved with
- 15:28High Lifeline and Camp Simpla. So they're like, do you want to
- 15:30go to Montreal for shopping? I'm like yes, because in my
- 15:33brain it will be a good like Snapchat story.
- 15:36Your content. Yeah, it would literally be good
- 15:38content. I'd say enjoyed it also.
- 15:39But like for me it was like I was just getting out to do
- 15:42stuff. Like every plane ride I remember
- 15:44like, oh, this is great content, like going on a plane and.
- 15:46Right, all about the. Content.
- 15:47It's about the content. You enjoy that as well?
- 15:49I love. It was fun.
- 15:49Traveling because I love looking for content yeah you know
- 15:52there's so much out there and. There's so much out there look
- 15:54and, and, and life could be so boring and, and it's good.
- 15:58The boringness at this point, I'm like way more boring and I,
- 16:01I don't like traveling anymore as much 'cause I just got like,
- 16:03so maybe 'cause I'm outputting with the podcast.
- 16:05So I like the travel part of it, but but life could be so boring
- 16:09and there's so much exciting things out there and it's like
- 16:13people want to see that and people are hungry for that.
- 16:15And I don't think there's enough Jewish creators out there
- 16:18really. There's been a lot in the past
- 16:20five years doing good stuff, but it there's there's a lot of good
- 16:22out there. I'm curious what you thought
- 16:24about when it came to your financial career and your
- 16:27future. There's a lot of young people I
- 16:28speak to now that like, want to start podcasts and, you know,
- 16:31build their brand. And it's always a good thing to
- 16:33help build your brand, but that if that's all you're doing,
- 16:36making money from this is really not.
- 16:38Easy. It's very hard and I, I think I
- 16:40got very lucky that it's part of my partner.
- 16:43So it I'm very transparent. It is not my full part.
- 16:45Also, I do marketing for a law firm and I do like marketing
- 16:49gigs and stuff like that. As time goes on, it does eat up
- 16:52more of my time. But Barsham as living with Heim
- 16:54grows, there's more opportunity to make money.
- 16:57But I'm, I'm by nature not a businessman.
- 16:59I am an artist. I love creating and I think my
- 17:02brother takes on the role of like financing or figuring the
- 17:06finances of living with Heim. I really hate that part of it.
- 17:10But like as time goes on, like Barkersheim, there's more
- 17:12opportunity. But I would tell anyone watching
- 17:15at home kids like don't like people in there.
- 17:17Like I want to like make a Partnosa from podcasting.
- 17:19I'm like, it could be a part of your Partnosa, but I like, I'm
- 17:23surprised that the amount of money that it's making for me
- 17:26personally, but even that it's not enough to support my family.
- 17:29Like it's it's not and, and Barkersheim like if you want to
- 17:31be a one man show and grow, like we have people working for us.
- 17:35So you need to develop A-Team and it, it, I think it's
- 17:38impossible. But like, to answer your
- 17:40question, I took a career test and the top career for me, my
- 17:45friends always make fun of me. It was a florist.
- 17:47I'm like what? I don't like flowers, but like,
- 17:49you like creativity and you like flowers and I, I don't like
- 17:52flowers, but like, you like, like I, I, I don't know, I, I
- 17:55don't know, I, I think I kind of hear it.
- 17:58But yeah, my friends always make fun of me.
- 17:59They're like, well. Perhaps creating content is like
- 18:01creating a bouquet. I guess so I I don't really like
- 18:04flowers. Yeah, yeah, I didn't end up
- 18:07doing it. But the second thing was was
- 18:09marketing and like advertising, which I do appreciate and I do
- 18:12like and that's kind of where my career got started off.
- 18:16So I I've been doing that and I think I do use a lot of that for
- 18:21the podcasts. I think a lot of it is marketing
- 18:24and branding and I. Like learning this about you?
- 18:25I didn't know you're doing marketing for a law firm.
- 18:27Yeah, yeah, Morgan and Morgan, it's.
- 18:29Morgan and Morgan. It's yeah, it's so not exciting,
- 18:32but I do a lot of what I'm doing for living in time for them,
- 18:35like webinars and podcasts. How long have you been with
- 18:37Morgan and? Morgan, I've been with them for
- 18:39four years. Good for you.
- 18:40Yeah, and their name is out there, Yeah.
- 18:41Yeah, yeah, it's all because. I mean, no, there there's this
- 18:44amazing you to Applebaum and and Ruby Moskow.
- 18:46Like there's a lot of great people.
- 18:48What? Have you done to get their name
- 18:49out there? Like what's a so proud moment?
- 18:51Yeah, I'm, I'm less of like client facing and more of like
- 18:54other lawyer facing. Yeah.
- 18:56So I so one of their biggest attorneys, Keith Mitnick, I help
- 18:59him with his LinkedIn and his newsletter and his emails and
- 19:03his podcasts and his webinars. He's he's big.
- 19:05He's again in the in the low world, like people know him in
- 19:08our world, like no one knows who he is.
- 19:10Really talented lawyer and great guy. 65 years old I think.
- 19:15Love that those are kind of people that we like on our.
- 19:17Podcast. Yeah, he's very well spoken.
- 19:19Yeah, he's great. He's too busy.
- 19:20He goes to trial again. This is, I think it's boring,
- 19:23but going to trial. Some lawyers go to trial like
- 19:25maybe 3-4 times a year. That's crazy.
- 19:27He goes to trial once every two weeks at least.
- 19:30I have to tell you, I've sat in a trial multiple times.
- 19:32Really. It's, I think it's one of the
- 19:33most fascinating things to watch.
- 19:34Interesting. Yeah, as.
- 19:36You were just go to One Federal Plaza watching it walk in and
- 19:39just walk into any courtroom that's active.
- 19:41People were able to go to the P Diddy trial, which I think is
- 19:44like historic because how crazy the entire situation was.
- 19:47But like, I saw someone TikTok like you could just go like you
- 19:50have to get there on time. Yeah, but like, that's a crazy.
- 19:53Litigating is not an easy thing, I mean.
- 19:54You forgot to mention that you were on trial.
- 19:57I was on trial. When you were at.
- 19:58Ohh, you were on trial, OK, He was.
- 20:00He was the defendant. He didn't say that part, but got
- 20:02it. You're being sued.
- 20:03Definitely. No, no I wasn't.
- 20:04You're suing. No, no, he's joking.
- 20:06But there has been a time, though, where our company was
- 20:10actually, like, brought into a trial when a patient passed away
- 20:13from choking on food. Oh, my God.
- 20:15And they called us in as expert witnesses because we understand
- 20:18the world of procurement and supply chains.
- 20:21Yeah, sure. And you know, what kind of food
- 20:22product was it, what the manufacturer was exactly?
- 20:24Yeah. And you know, so.
- 20:26So I just, I find that whole world fascinating, actually.
- 20:28So that's a guest that I would love to have like someone like
- 20:30that to just learn about that world and.
- 20:32Yeah, I have a guest suggestion. I mean, we can do it off here.
- 20:35He's in that world, but he's always looking for things and
- 20:37he's so well spoken to. Harry Rothenberg.
- 20:39Oh, cool. He's great.
- 20:40I mean, at the end of our program we do ask you to pick
- 20:42some buddy. OK, so maybe it's going to be
- 20:45he's a good. Guy right now we have Yahoo
- 20:47language. Not how we're.
- 20:48Yeah, yeah, yeah. So we'll, we'll put him aside.
- 20:50I want to get to know a little bit more about you.
- 20:52Sure, absolutely. And I want to go back again.
- 20:54So when was that first moment that you decided I'm doing a
- 20:58podcast or was that even the first thing or did you do
- 21:00something else prior? Yeah, yeah, sure.
- 21:02So I made a WhatsApp group. Is called, I don't remember
- 21:06exactly. It was like, let's schmooze or
- 21:08something like that with my wife and my friend Benji Weintraub,
- 21:12who is a photographer, great guy.
- 21:15And he's like very creative and and I said I I remember saying
- 21:19like, I want to interview. It was like Uncle Moshi and
- 21:23Yakov Schwaki and like Rob Eitan finer.
- 21:25I said we see all these people and I would love to just
- 21:28schmooze with them, like get to know them because no, not for
- 21:31like the art school book about their life after 120 or not for
- 21:35like one of these like radio shows where like they're
- 21:38promoting an event coming up. Like you're here to promote the
- 21:41event. Like I actually want to get to
- 21:42know them. And that's where it started.
- 21:45But of course, like I was just busy and like it just didn't,
- 21:47you know, manifest. And then Nachi Gordon reached
- 21:51out to me like 2-3 months later, said he wants to do a podcast
- 21:53for a meaningful minute and the rest is history.
- 21:56I'm. Like so he was already Nachi
- 21:57Gordon was already podcasting. He wasn't podcasting yet.
- 22:00No, he he wanted to make something called the Meaningful
- 22:02Minute Podcast and. That was his creation, his idea.
- 22:06You want to do a meaningful minute and then I'm like, well,
- 22:08I I don't want to just interview the Rob on him that are are, you
- 22:11know, creating these like short videos.
- 22:13I mentioned the idea and then kind of like fuse the together
- 22:16together. The idea of like plush of
- 22:18awesome, great people and also like people that we all know.
- 22:20But like, for me, Uncle Maishi, I don't know why.
- 22:22I'm like, I really want to get to know him.
- 22:25Yeah, that's, that's where meaningful people.
- 22:26So. The both of you decided let's do
- 22:28it together. So you guys became Co host.
- 22:30Yeah. You guys were partners, yes.
- 22:31And you started that podcast and was called meaningful people I
- 22:34think, right? Yeah, at the time.
- 22:35And how long did that go for? I did that for, I remember
- 22:38exactly. It was like, I think around two
- 22:41years. So for two years.
- 22:42Around 2 years, yeah. And who, who's getting the
- 22:44guests? Like who was, you know, who's
- 22:46doing? I think we both we, we were, it
- 22:48was like a partnership we were both doing.
- 22:49You guys were alone, so you were hustling it out.
- 22:51You guys didn't have a lot of resources I imagine.
- 22:54No, not so much you. Were doing a lot of the editing
- 22:56producing. I think the most annoying thing
- 22:59about that process was this was in 2020.
- 23:02We actually started in 2019, but in 2020, I whenever I would
- 23:06reach out to someone, I would have to explain what a podcast
- 23:09was. And they're like, if they're
- 23:11like more like Yeshivish, they'll be like, it's a sheer.
- 23:13I'm like, no, it's not a sheer. And they're like, they're like,
- 23:15is it like Oprah? Like on the other side, they're
- 23:17like, is it like Oprah Winfrey? I'm like, do no one know what?
- 23:20Like, I did not realize how few people knew what podcasts were.
- 23:23Yeah, some people did, but most people, I had to explain what it
- 23:26was and they it was a challenge. It was AI, remember, with Rav
- 23:29Gavi's like a rebbe of mine. And like where?
- 23:31Was your studio. It was on Central Ave.
- 23:34So you had a third party place where you both went to and that
- 23:36was not. Nothing.
- 23:37It was. No, it's not his office.
- 23:38That's where we did it. I was in his office.
- 23:39In his office, yeah. And that went for two years.
- 23:41It went for two years. Popular did it get at that point
- 23:43it. Got very it was.
- 23:44It was so popular, but I think it was also like there was
- 23:48barely any competition, like there wasn't so many.
- 23:52I remember the the, the, for me, the first Jewish podcast was
- 23:55forgot his name, Rabbit Kurlowski.
- 23:58I forgot his name. Really awesome.
- 23:59He's in the Care World. It's called Jew schmooze.
- 24:01I think that's what it's called. Like he was, he was doing it for
- 24:04like 2 years before that even. And I listened to some of the
- 24:06episodes. I'm like, oh, it was great.
- 24:09But aside for him, I mean, there were there were, there were.
- 24:11I don't remember who was at that point, but, but I, I always
- 24:15remember for me, like the big shift for me was like, it was
- 24:19always like, OK, it was great. And, and, and I was doing that
- 24:23and I was, I was working as well.
- 24:25And I remember telling my wife like this is like I, I, I like
- 24:29it's 2 full time jobs. Like I can't do it.
- 24:32And at that point I'm like, I had the idea for kosher money
- 24:35and my wife's like, you're crazy.
- 24:36And I'm like, listen, when I first started this, it was so
- 24:39hard. But like as time goes on, it's a
- 24:41muscle like it gets it does get easier.
- 24:43I'm sure you guys could relate to that.
- 24:44Like between episode? One people all the time that
- 24:46they see a difference in the later episodes versus the
- 24:49earlier ones. Because like anything else, you
- 24:51got to master a craft, you got to learn.
- 24:53A repetition always helps. Practice makes perfect,
- 24:56literally. And I look back now at our first
- 24:58few episodes and I cringe. Yeah, yeah, but but it's, if
- 25:01you're not cringing, it means you're not improving.
- 25:03Like you're just doing the same exact thing.
- 25:04Like you have to look at your First off and cringe like that's
- 25:07and even in two years from now you watch this one, you should
- 25:10cringe. Like, I think it's a good thing.
- 25:11Exactly. But yeah, so, so I just, yeah,
- 25:14I, I'm like, listen, I've been doing this for long enough.
- 25:16And like, it was just, it was clear that like, and I, I had an
- 25:19idea for kosher money and that's an issue.
- 25:21And, and a podcast for women with.
- 25:23I had the idea of Charlene and I was like, you're crazy.
- 25:27I'm like, I think I could handle it.
- 25:29And slowly but surely, it's it's, yeah.
- 25:32So after your two years, you parted ways, parted ways with
- 25:35Nachi. He continued to do meaningful.
- 25:38People and I remember at the time it was so hard for me
- 25:40because like for me at that point I did not have children
- 25:43yet. So for me it was like, it was my
- 25:45baby. It was, it was so my baby and
- 25:47like had to like, like you put in all your effort into
- 25:50something and like to give it up.
- 25:52It was, it was very difficult. You gave it up simply because
- 25:54you wanted to shift and do it something different.
- 25:57It was like it, it, it was a great experience, but at the end
- 26:00of the day, like we're two different minds and he's great.
- 26:02And like he had his vision. I had my vision and it, we would
- 26:06always, I think you could listen to it.
- 26:07We would always have like just different creative ideas.
- 26:11So for me it was, it was clear that like it, it wasn't, we were
- 26:15not going the same direction. And it was very hard.
- 26:18And, and to the credit of a lot of friends and family, they're
- 26:21like, I'm telling you, like, yeah, you could start at 0, but
- 26:24like you'll, you'll be good. And it was just very hard to
- 26:27like really just also like part of it was like part of my
- 26:30identity of. Course, one of the biggest
- 26:32things about divorces is the shame that comes along with it
- 26:35is the people around you, you're afraid of what they're going to
- 26:38think, you know, are they going to look at me as a failure?
- 26:40Because, you know, and that's probably something that was
- 26:42going through your mind. Yeah, I want to be clear, anyone
- 26:44goes going through the divorce is way harder.
- 26:45It was so much easier. But but there are, there are
- 26:48similarities for sure, yeah. You in some ways maybe even had
- 26:52a harder than divorce I. Don't know you got a lot.
- 26:54More people who knew you. A lot more people who knew about
- 26:56you, yeah. It was a lot.
- 26:57A little partnership is very similar.
- 26:59But it's also, it's complicated because like, you put so much,
- 27:02like, work into it, and then it's like now all of a sudden
- 27:05it's like my competition. Yeah.
- 27:07So it's like, it's like you're building up like this.
- 27:10I don't know, like samurai. And now it's like, now you have
- 27:12to fight your samurai. Like, in a way.
- 27:13Again, I don't look at it like that.
- 27:15But. But it was it.
- 27:17Yeah. But.
- 27:17Like, was it, was it smooth? Did you guys figure it out?
- 27:19Yeah, figured it was a complication.
- 27:21You have to bring in a third party to help you figure stuff
- 27:24out, no? I know we brought in my button
- 27:26just to like be Yashar and but I think it went as well as it
- 27:30could have. But it was for me, it was very
- 27:34exciting that the fact that like I I finally like had it was like
- 27:38I was training, I guess myself to like understand podcasts and
- 27:41like I finally got it and now like kosher money and like a
- 27:44mental like a show just dedicated to mental health.
- 27:46That's an issue. Like it was very exciting for
- 27:48me. And then like also also starting
- 27:50my own show, like inspiration and I always I always liked this
- 27:54like one-on-one energy. Not that two on one's not good.
- 27:58I think 2 on one is more fun, more exciting, but.
- 28:01He's a crowd. Yeah, exactly.
- 28:03But like, I think one-on-one, there's, there's a you could get
- 28:06deeper. And it was something I was
- 28:08yearning for. So I was very excited for that
- 28:10kind of experience. And yeah, at that point, I
- 28:14remember I came up with the name Kosher money for my brother for
- 28:17my brother's podcast. And my brother came up with the
- 28:20name Inspiration for the Nation for my podcast.
- 28:22So like interesting. I like Kosher.
- 28:24I think Kosher Money is a better name than inspiration for the
- 28:26nation. Just smoother and just like just
- 28:292 words but. What's he do, your brother?
- 28:32My brother does marketing. He does.
- 28:34He does marketing. Yeah.
- 28:36Or it started off for for supermarkets in the food
- 28:40industry, but like now he's expanded to like a lot more.
- 28:43Than just that well, in hindsight, you both really ended
- 28:46up becoming very successful. Yeah.
- 28:48So it makes this whole thing, you know, even more beautiful.
- 28:52And also you guys were at the perfect time in the marketplace
- 28:54where there was a need for podcasts like this, like you
- 28:56said, in our communities. So you it was very easy to split
- 29:00up and each go their way and, and there's room for everybody.
- 29:03Yeah, yeah. It's not like you're in a
- 29:04crowded field and like to start over is gonna be very difficult.
- 29:07A lot of competition. You guys were in a nice position
- 29:10to to be able to do what you guys did.
- 29:11And I think I, I, I, I see, I still see it as like whenever
- 29:14there's like a new podcast, like I think there's such a need for
- 29:17more podcasts. Like really for sure.
- 29:19There's, there's, there's so many from Jews and there's so
- 29:22many Jews in general. I think there's a lot of people
- 29:23who are not from, who are watching these stuff.
- 29:26And everyone has their own tweak their own way of doing it.
- 29:28And like, I, I think there's gonna be a lot more shows.
- 29:31I think a lot of shows start and then just quickly fade, right?
- 29:35But I, I think there's gonna be a lot more shows and even like
- 29:37the kids who are now like 15 years old, 20 years old, like
- 29:40they get the space even better than I do.
- 29:42Like they're gonna, they're gonna like skyrocket.
- 29:45I'm. Curious you you you helped
- 29:46launch Kosher Money Inspiration doing other projects.
- 29:49Is there a category for podcasting that you think is
- 29:52needed? I like what you're saying in
- 29:53terms of, and I was always thinking, is there a need for
- 29:55more podcasts? There's so many and you're
- 29:57saying obviously that there is. Is there a category just like
- 30:00you're saying mental health with something?
- 30:02Is there a new category that you're saying, you know,
- 30:03somebody should do something about this?
- 30:05Well, Michael, there is. He's going to do it, yeah.
- 30:06I'm working I'm. Well, why do you think I'm
- 30:09asking? Yeah.
- 30:09He has a. Channel he's got he guess what
- 30:11else he's doing? Multiple.
- 30:12Multiple. Yeah, something you want to do
- 30:14that you're not going to get to and someone else can do it or,
- 30:16you know, someone else is. Yeah, So, yeah, I I think in the
- 30:20relationship space there's there's a not a lot needed.
- 30:23And like again, I don't want to give away too much someone who I
- 30:27highly respect and I had on my show and I I personally can, I
- 30:31don't think everyone agrees. But like for me personally, I
- 30:33said that's persons in the top three podcasts.
- 30:35It's not even like one of the ones that the big numbers, but I
- 30:38thought the information there was so valuable.
- 30:42So like, yeah, I I think in the rule and I think there are
- 30:45podcasts on relationship. Let us know who that was.
- 30:47I don't know, so I don't want to give it away.
- 30:48I I'll give it away. Ruben Epstein, Ruben Epstein.
- 30:51He's been on the show twice, once with his wife, once
- 30:54without. And I I highly, highly respect
- 30:57what he's doing for the relate relationship space, whether it's
- 31:01single people dating or it's people in a marriage for 50
- 31:05years. I think he's the Steve Jobs of
- 31:09the from world of relationships. And, and I don't even
- 31:12necessarily think it's going to be like our biggest podcast, but
- 31:15I think it's so needed. And and I'm at I'm at the point
- 31:19where it's like, and maybe we'll skyrocket and get a million
- 31:22views. I don't think it will.
- 31:24But I'm also at the point of like Barksham, we have the shows
- 31:27that are doing great numbers and then there's shows that maybe
- 31:30they're not getting crazy numbers, but it's so needed.
- 31:32Like one of our shows, it's called podcast therapy with
- 31:35Doctor Z with Doctor Shalamy Zimmerman.
- 31:37It's a call in show. People call in and they, and we
- 31:40use AI to like mask their voice and they talk about the
- 31:43struggles or the challenges they're going through.
- 31:45I kid you not, I every single firm person is going through
- 31:48something. And sometimes it's like clinical
- 31:51and sometimes it's not clinical, but like I think we all think
- 31:54like, Oh, I'm the only one dealing with anxiety, depression
- 31:57or whatever it is or, or their spouse is dealing with that or
- 32:00relationship. Like, and we're having so many
- 32:02people call in and so many people listen to it.
- 32:05Again, it's not this, it's an audio only, you know, video.
- 32:07So when there's video, it's easier to like share around in
- 32:10clips and YouTube. But I'm like, it's so needed in
- 32:13our community. And I think this relationship,
- 32:16one with Rabbi Rubin, is going to, like, really be so
- 32:20necessary. Amazing.
- 32:21Yeah, you have a name. For it no, I was like joking
- 32:25like it's a bad joke, but I was like joking that it should be
- 32:27like Epstein's Love Island like double joke over there but but
- 32:32that's a complete joke I. Like it?
- 32:34Yeah, I think you should do. That it's it's like, yeah, it's
- 32:36a joke. I don't know.
- 32:37Yeah, I also like we're we're working on like a few different
- 32:39things. It might not just be 1 show, it
- 32:41might be a few different things, but that will definitely 100%
- 32:45not be the name. But that's like the the joking
- 32:47name for it. I like that.
- 32:48I like the idea of relationship and and focusing on that.
- 32:51I think there's parenting is another big one in general.
- 32:54Yeah, so in I think the OU, I don't think they still do it.
- 32:57They came to me and they really wanted a like I have that all
- 33:01the time. So many people come they want to
- 33:02show under living with Higham and I tell everyone you don't
- 33:05need me. Like if it's going to be a good
- 33:07show you I I promise my YouTube channel like if it's good, it
- 33:11will skyrocket. It has nothing to do with my
- 33:12channel. And like, I'm not like I'm
- 33:14saying that as like advice, like it's not because I'm trying to
- 33:17push them away. But the OU came to me and they
- 33:20mentioned they want to do a parenting podcast.
- 33:22I forgot the fellow from it. Great idea, but I felt it was
- 33:25just too niche. I said you should do it again,
- 33:27don't do it under me. But it's so niche.
- 33:29Yes, every parent should listen to it.
- 33:32But I think, I don't know, I, I just think those who really want
- 33:37that information, they're looking for it, but there's so
- 33:39many people that unfortunately they're not looking for.
- 33:41It I'm curious, you're doing inspiration stuff, relationship
- 33:44stuff and a lot in the Jewish religious money.
- 33:45Stuff, Yeah. Money stuff as well.
- 33:48Is there someone that you can't get on the podcast that you
- 33:50would love to have Like, oh, it doesn't fit really with my, you
- 33:52know, like you said, you know, Casey Neustep, for example, it
- 33:55wouldn't really fit with your. Right program I it's funny I I
- 33:58have it didn't come up yet, but I have the opportunity to to rap
- 34:02film with him and I just want to meet him because to me he's he's
- 34:05he's he's like, you know, YouTube hero of mine, obviously
- 34:09my my real heroes, but I'm saying in in that world I'm like
- 34:12he's my rebbe of YouTube, but I don't yeah, he he got very vocal
- 34:16after October 7th being like a proud YID.
- 34:19But yeah, I don't think it really fits for me.
- 34:21It's always about. Who is this?
- 34:24OK, it's nice that. You don't my case, you're
- 34:26saying, yeah, it would be. You're agreeing with me?
- 34:27Yeah, yeah, I think, but I don't.
- 34:29Know who that is? Okay.
- 34:31He's a YouTuber. Living under he, he.
- 34:33He, he really, he made an it's so funny, his story, his story
- 34:36is he made a YouTube channel so he could so he could sell his
- 34:40app, meaning sell it to people. He had an app, it was called
- 34:43Beam where it, it, you basically did social media without looking
- 34:46whatever. It was a terrible app.
- 34:48But he started this YouTube channel because of that.
- 34:51And his YouTube channel blew up so much that CNN bought his his
- 34:55app just so he could, they could get like his contacts.
- 34:58And they bought it for a ridiculous amount of money.
- 35:00And he basically has been retired since.
- 35:02It's very big. It's stuff.
- 35:03And how, how big is this guy? CA SEY.
- 35:05How did I never hear? Of him, he's he's really out.
- 35:08There, that's like you're Jamie for like.
- 35:10There you go. He's shaking his head, you know.
- 35:11I was at a BBQ a couple. It's like. 12 million YouTube.
- 35:15A couple of weeks ago. During the 9 days.
- 35:16Probably. Ever seen his face?
- 35:18You ever seen his face? I have not.
- 35:20No, okay, I have not. Proud yet proud yet.
- 35:23Interesting. Yeah.
- 35:25All right, you know what? So if you can't get him, I guess
- 35:26we're gonna have to get him. You should totally.
- 35:28So yeah, I was gonna say like, I'm gonna get back to your BBQ
- 35:31store. I haven't forgot about that.
- 35:32But like the for me, it's really about the audience.
- 35:35There's so many people I wanna interview.
- 35:37But if it will it fit with my audience.
- 35:40That's I mean, yeah, sometimes. Sometimes I'll interview someone
- 35:44that I don't have any personal interest in, but I know my
- 35:46audience well. Or sometimes it works out that I
- 35:48also want to introduce I'll. Tell you, I emailed the guy the
- 35:52Hey, Jewish people that yeah. Yeah, sure.
- 35:54I have his number and. He was gonna come here and do
- 35:56the podcast and a week before you had him and I'm like, Oh my
- 35:59God. Right.
- 35:59No, kudos to you, by the way. I know how it works.
- 36:02Anybody can get. First of all, I I did a video
- 36:04with him. It wasn't a podcast.
- 36:05Yeah, you should totally have him.
- 36:07He's great and he's blown up since.
- 36:08Yeah, we're gonna have him. He's a fun guy.
- 36:10I remember. Yeah, he.
- 36:11Doesn't I feel like you don't know, you know?
- 36:13Who's this? It's another I.
- 36:14Feel like we have to explain every like the La Baba rabbit.
- 36:16You ever hear La Batra rabbit? You're like, he's a beer by the.
- 36:18Way I got roasted already last week.
- 36:19Oh really? Sucks.
- 36:20The other guest we had. So these you're not a social
- 36:22media too? Much No, I am a social media Oh
- 36:24yeah, yes, I don't want to. Be different social.
- 36:25Media space maybe? But I also like to see you watch
- 36:28certain things. I guess, you know, I'm not.
- 36:30And soccer interests don't a line.
- 36:32Michael and I, we don't quite. We have very different stuff,
- 36:35very, very big into music as he's into.
- 36:37Sports. I just wanted to tell you this.
- 36:38Two weeks ago, I was out of Barbie.
- 36:39Not into sports or music? OK.
- 36:40And a friend of ours, this is in the group, one of the friends
- 36:44made a comment, somebody said mentioned Mr. Beast or something
- 36:46like that. And somebody said, well, who's
- 36:48who's Mr. Beast? And we all stopped.
- 36:50We thought he was joking. And he's like, who's you don't
- 36:53know Mr. Beast, The guy that you know, has like, I don't know the
- 36:57most YouTube followers in the world.
- 37:00Like you could not avoid him if you tried.
- 37:03Like you can't walk 10 miles the.
- 37:05The guy probably hasn't seen something from him, he just
- 37:07doesn't even realize that he's. Like, no, I never.
- 37:09And we kept trying to describe him, you know, and and nothing,
- 37:12nothing was sticking. And he's a pretty cultured
- 37:15person. Yeah, you know, he's, he's very
- 37:17aware. It's not like.
- 37:18Right. He's not like living on a rock,
- 37:19right? Out of all the things, this is
- 37:22something very strange that he didn't know about, and I was
- 37:24shocked by it. It just happens.
- 37:26Sometimes people just lose sight of something that's very popular
- 37:30out there and it. It happens.
- 37:31You know, it's not surprising because the I'm obviously he's
- 37:34the biggest, but there's so many people that are, I know on
- 37:37YouTube, right, they have like 10,000,012 million followers.
- 37:40That's significant. And it never crossed my path.
- 37:43Like let's say I'm not into sports.
- 37:44You just mentioned, I'm sure there's there's Youtubers out
- 37:46there that are the biggest sports like people and you
- 37:50probably like it's in your orbit.
- 37:52So it comes up. But for me it never comes up in
- 37:53my orbit. There's, I don't know, 8 billion
- 37:56plus people out there. So it makes sense that in his
- 37:59world, he just it just didn't never came up.
- 38:01It just again it's. Curious, if it's not music and
- 38:04it's not sports, then what is it?
- 38:05What is? What are your vices?
- 38:06What do you follow? I love.
- 38:07It's so nerdy and I was into it before the movies were in.
- 38:09I love superheroes, OK? I love superheroes.
- 38:12I'm a big superhero guy. So who would you love to
- 38:15interview then? That's.
- 38:16Some superheroes. No, I know.
- 38:18I for me, it's just like I, I and I like, I like that fantasy
- 38:21of like getting away and like powers.
- 38:22I don't know. Yeah, it's very nerdy of me,
- 38:24but. Is there a part of you that
- 38:25perhaps regrets a little bit? I don't think you regret it too
- 38:28much, but maybe even a little bit once in a while.
- 38:30You think about it, your podcast, what you're doing now,
- 38:33it is very inspirational and you do have some incredible people
- 38:36who come onto your podcast with amazing stories and it's very
- 38:41insightful and and inspirational and it helps people and it's
- 38:44beautiful what you're doing. But I'll be honest, I'm I'm not
- 38:47the greatest person, So I I like to also be self-serving, you
- 38:51know, for I, I love helping people when I have the chance
- 38:53to, but a little me time too. You like you always helps and if
- 38:57I would be doing that like I would sort of get bored of it a
- 39:00little bit after a while like I need some entertainment, I need
- 39:02some I need something more. Do you feel like you're?
- 39:07Interesting question. You're in your lane right now.
- 39:08This is what you're doing and and this is it.
- 39:11You know, it's gonna be hard to sort of deviate from that.
- 39:14Like, you know, going through. I told Michael when I agreed to
- 39:16do this podcast, I said I don't want it to be about something
- 39:19specific. I don't want to have certain
- 39:21type of guests on because then I'm going to be locked in.
- 39:24I'm into that box now and that's what I got to do.
- 39:26And I want to be spontaneous one day.
- 39:28I want to talk to this guy. I want to talk to that guy about
- 39:29different topics. So do you feel like you're in a
- 39:32certain lane, in a certain corner?
- 39:34And it's hard to get away from that now.
- 39:35Well, you didn't feel the need to like you want to.
- 39:37The answer is yes and no. I I saw a quote from Walt Disney
- 39:40that I like Michael Scott it and made it into my own quote, but I
- 39:44shifted it a little. Walt Disney said we don't make
- 39:48movies to make money, we make money to make movies.
- 39:51So I love that idea and I passionately feel that I don't
- 39:54make podcasts to make money and make money so I can make
- 39:57podcasts. So I genuinely love the
- 40:00podcasting. And I thought I'd run out of
- 40:04people to interview who'd like have an inspirational story.
- 40:06And it could be inspirational because like he's friends now.
- 40:10Like I really got run over by train.
- 40:12He wasn't from legs got chopped off.
- 40:14And then he like had a conversation with Hashem and now
- 40:16he's from like crazy stories. And then a story about a girl
- 40:20who her parents got divorced and her mother's not from anymore.
- 40:23And to me that's also very inspirational.
- 40:24Like I don't run out of it of like just.
- 40:29Being into it, I, I genuinely really, really love it.
- 40:33But there is a point of like, OK, I've been doing it kind of
- 40:36like I was mentioning before, the muscle, like when you're
- 40:38lifting, you know, weights and it's just 10 lbs or 100 lbs,
- 40:42whatever it is, after a while your body gets used to it and it
- 40:44kind of, it does get a little boring.
- 40:46So for, for me, the way I go past that is create more shows
- 40:51and create more things and create more ideas.
- 40:53Like for me, like podcasting is one of the things that I'm doing
- 40:57now. I, I really want to the next
- 41:01step or the phase of living the time is to create something
- 41:04that's very Torah based. I think there's a lot of great
- 41:06Torah programs and things out there, but I personally grew up
- 41:11in a world where Torah was, was very pushed on us, I think like
- 41:16many of us. And as I got older and really,
- 41:19really appreciated the wisdom and, and just the way Hashem
- 41:23looked at the Torah and created the world and like how it has
- 41:26everything in it. And I've seen that like not
- 41:30every person giving over Ashir is created equal.
- 41:32Not every piece of Torah is created equal.
- 41:35Like I'll find more interest in Agamara and you'll find more
- 41:38interest in Navi. So I really think
- 41:41technologically we could really do way better with that.
- 41:45So that's like my next huge project.
- 41:48And for me it's like, OK, everything I've learned from
- 41:51living like I'm podcast world or YouTube world till now is just
- 41:55train me for that world that I don't think exists yet online.
- 41:59So I'm excited for that. Wow.
- 42:01Yeah, by the way, him and Nahi both like they're taking their
- 42:05platform and they're using it for good.
- 42:08Like I, I think me and you, Michael, we would waste it like,
- 42:11you know, we would, you know, we'd probably do a little bit of
- 42:14good and, you know, but you guys are like thinking bigger and
- 42:17bigger and you want to do things that's surrounding around,
- 42:21around Torah, which is a beautiful thing.
- 42:23And I love the way you're, you're talking like knocking was
- 42:26talking about just digitalizing like an entire environment of
- 42:31content that's available for kids that they should be having
- 42:34what to watch because at the end of the day, they're all going to
- 42:37watch stuff and that's unavoidable.
- 42:39So at least let's give them some, if they can get behind
- 42:41that can be educational and it could be within our within our
- 42:44values. I I tried not I I haven't given
- 42:47up on it. One of the wrongs of the things
- 42:48I was doing, because I thought I'm doing living with hime The
- 42:50next was Lachaim kids. So I started a show called the
- 42:53adventures of Zevi and Zadie. It's podcast audio only and I do
- 42:57together with my friend Yitzi Ingber and it's great And and I
- 43:02think there's a need for it. And as we're seeing like I don't
- 43:05know all the names of it. I don't even know the names of
- 43:07it. So I don't want to like say the
- 43:09wrong name, but there's a lot of like websites and apps out there
- 43:11that like are for kids content, but it's so hard to do it.
- 43:14Like, I don't know if there's a way to do it, like from A and it
- 43:19maybe they're pulling it off. But like, it's so hard to do.
- 43:22Like, I lose money on Zevins 80. And again, I'm going to continue
- 43:24doing it. Literally, I was up until 3:00
- 43:27last night just writing a script.
- 43:29And I've tried paying people to write the script.
- 43:30It's just not the same. But it's, yeah, kids, kids
- 43:34content is hard. But yeah, as time goes on, I
- 43:36think there will be more and more of all of this.
- 43:40And I'm curious when you started this journey of, you know, on
- 43:43your own, so to speak, did you have a mentor that Someone Like
- 43:46You know, that you went to for guidance that you went to that?
- 43:49Yeah. So the answer is yeah, but not
- 43:51on the mentor kind of way that that you like for like the
- 43:54technological standpoint for that.
- 43:56I was like very clear on like my vision for it, but I really
- 44:00relied very heavily on my route of Matthew Neuberger.
- 44:03There was just a lot of questions and like halacha
- 44:06questions and kind of directions what to do and how to go about
- 44:09it and like just also just to be sensitive to the industry.
- 44:12So I really, really leaned on him.
- 44:15I also, I did lean on a lot of of friends to like pick their
- 44:19brain and like annoy them with titles and names and and kind of
- 44:23getting their feedback. But I, I think I, yeah, for me
- 44:27it was is really just putting myself in the shoes of someone
- 44:31like I, I'm my own customer, I'm my own audience.
- 44:33Like I, I want good content. I want and from, from awesome,
- 44:37good Jewish people. So I'm like, OK, how could I
- 44:39create that for for me, of course, I'm just one person.
- 44:43There's a million from people. Are there a million from?
- 44:45I don't know how it works but but yeah, it just as time goes
- 44:49on, it's it's. Speaking of sensitive, you know
- 44:51Chachi PT said earlier, I forgot exactly how it said it, that,
- 44:54you know, if you've laughed or cried or shared Jewish video,
- 44:58has there been times that you're interviewing someone and you're
- 45:00actually crying? Yeah, all the time.
- 45:02I'm very, I'm not an emotional person, but in in the moment,
- 45:07like when I'm interviewing someone, I mean easily like with
- 45:10hostages or like someone when someone brings up their kids or
- 45:13losing children, like I, I, I, I'm in it, I leave it.
- 45:16I'm not ashamed by it. Like I'm proud of it.
- 45:18Like I'm crying. I'm not like crying, but I am
- 45:22like you'll see my face. And I recently as I interviewed
- 45:27someone, Hanan Al Gez, his wife was on the way to give birth and
- 45:30she was murdered and then and then his baby also didn't make
- 45:33it. I'm it was, it was the week
- 45:36before. Whatever.
- 45:37It's people like you're insensitive.
- 45:38Why are you interviewing him now?
- 45:39I'm like, I don't want to interview him now.
- 45:40His, his family. Badafka wanted it now.
- 45:44But I, I was just I the entire time crying and this guy's
- 45:47talking about a moon and batafkin and missing his wife.
- 45:50And it was, yeah, it was I. I can't watch that stuff.
- 45:53No. So I.
- 45:54Can't watch that stuff. Yeah.
- 45:55Because it makes me realize that I probably say this way too
- 45:59often, but I don't think I'm the greatest person, you know?
- 46:01I think I'm. I'm just OK at best.
- 46:04But then you see people like this just lost his wife, his
- 46:07child in the most horrific fashion.
- 46:08Yeah. And then weeks later, they're
- 46:10talking about their faith reinstalled and how you know
- 46:14they're going to. And they're trying to be strong
- 46:15for people around them. They're trying to inspire others
- 46:18around them right now, and I'm like, what?
- 46:20Is this person human? Yeah.
- 46:22Because this is what I should aspire to be because I'm way
- 46:25off. Yeah.
- 46:25I think you're you, you, you like beat up yourself a little
- 46:28too much. The answer is that person, for
- 46:30whatever reason, Hashem is testing them.
- 46:33And Hashem shouldn't test any of us, but he's going through like
- 46:36the hardest test. And thank God you're not going
- 46:39through that test, but you're, you're, you're supposed to be
- 46:41you. You're not supposed to be him.
- 46:42I. Understand, but I'm saying as
- 46:43most of us didn't have that test and don't show that kind of
- 46:49fortitude in the religious aspect of things that he is
- 46:52right now at the moment in his most vulnerable state.
- 46:55It's just amazing. It's unbelievable.
- 46:56I'm, I'm, I'm really impressed, right?
- 46:59But it does remind us that we have it too good.
- 47:01We have it very good. We have to be thankful, very
- 47:03thankful. Who was your best guest?
- 47:06Like who was not your biggest guest?
- 47:08Not your best, your biggest. That really produced the wildest
- 47:11numbers for you. What?
- 47:13So you're asking the best? Or you're asking which one did
- 47:16the best. There's so many ways to ask that
- 47:18question. Let's go with this.
- 47:19Which one did the best? Which one did?
- 47:21So on kosher numbers, wise on. Kosher money is a great lesson
- 47:25to show like, I don't know anything.
- 47:26My brother was like doing these on the street bits.
- 47:30This is like 3 years ago. Four years ago it was like
- 47:33before on the street bits were a thing really and his idea going
- 47:37out and just interviewing people, money related stuff.
- 47:39I think it was tiny Kaepernick or or maybe someone else, like
- 47:43sold this woman a bubby in like this purple coat and purple
- 47:48everything and he's like her, We need to interview her.
- 47:51My brother goes over to her and she's like the classic Jewish
- 47:55bubby. And my brother's like, I'm
- 47:57telling you like this is going to be a kosher money episode.
- 47:59Like we interviewed her for like it was supposed to be a minute
- 48:01or two, but he interviewed her for like, I don't know, 10
- 48:04minutes. And he's like, I'm telling you,
- 48:05I'm turning this into kosher money episode.
- 48:07And I told my brother Ellie, I'm like, Ellie, this is such a bad
- 48:10idea, but who cares? Like, OK, we let's experiment.
- 48:13We always love experimenting, but this is going to get like
- 48:152000 views. It has like 2.1 million views.
- 48:19It is our highest viewed video. I saw that video and I loved it.
- 48:22She's great and and and even like I even saw it and I'm like,
- 48:26this is good, but like no one's going to care.
- 48:28And I was totally wrong. And it was like it was our
- 48:30literally our biggest hit, at least on the long form.
- 48:33And I was just so wrong. So I happened to fight with my
- 48:37brother a lot. We're very close.
- 48:39I'm close to the longer of us when I say fight like we never
- 48:41like actually fight about real things, but like ideas wise, I'm
- 48:44very stubborn. I'm like I'm usually I think I
- 48:46am usually right, but I am sometimes so wrong.
- 48:49So like I always like humble myself and be like he has an
- 48:52idea, like maybe it's going to. Work onto something.
- 48:55Yeah. I just want to make sure I
- 48:56understand this. So your brother Ellie has the
- 48:58kosher money? He does kosher money you.
- 49:00Do the inspiration for the nation.
- 49:01Yeah. And how did that happen?
- 49:03Does did he start after year? Did you bring him into this?
- 49:06Yeah. So I was, I was doing, I was
- 49:08doing meaningful people at that point.
- 49:09And then the first one that I want to start was Kosher money.
- 49:12My brother want to do a business related podcast, but I'm like,
- 49:16Ellie, you don't listen to any podcast.
- 49:18He's like, OK, so who cares? But I'm like, I have an idea for
- 49:21you. It's not business related.
- 49:22It's in that realm. But I would love to do is after
- 49:26I interviewed Naftali Horowitz, which to answer, I guess the
- 49:28first part of your question for me, it was like my Naftali
- 49:32Horowitz is my favorite persona online because he's this
- 49:37Khasidis Babov guy originally and he made it big.
- 49:41He does investment banking and he's so good.
- 49:44But he talks about like what true success really is.
- 49:47And he's so well spoken and he has such, he basically to me,
- 49:51he's a walking musser safer. And he's so good at talking and
- 49:55he has everyone listening and he's so good.
- 49:58So that's where the idea of kosher money came.
- 50:01I went to him and I said I've been listening to Dave Ramsey.
- 50:05He's a advisor for the biggest advisor in America for non Jews.
- 50:12And I'm like he's great. But like he's talking about like
- 50:14if you're living in middle America making $50,000 and you
- 50:17have one kid, you're good to go. If you have $50,000 in New York
- 50:21and seven kids, you are in poverty.
- 50:24Like even if, even if making $200,000, like it's, it's crazy.
- 50:28So I told him I would love to create a show around him.
- 50:30Like he's the new Dave Ramsey. He said the problem is Dave
- 50:33Ramsey very into budgeting. He doesn't budget.
- 50:36I said, what do you do? So I just make more money than
- 50:38my wife spends. I'm like, OK, I hear that.
- 50:40He's like, I'm also too busy. He is a very busy guy.
- 50:43But he said speak to Zevi Woolman at the OU.
- 50:46They want to do something. So I spoke to Zevi and I said,
- 50:48OK, I would love to create a show, but Naftali doesn't want
- 50:53to do it. He'll be a guest on it.
- 50:54But my brother really wants to do a podcast.
- 50:56And that's where Kosher Money came to be.
- 50:59Yeah, I've been doing it since and Naftali's been on it,
- 51:03working on like a spin off kind of show with him, hopefully.
- 51:07Not necessarily about money, more about like success and
- 51:09Musser, but yeah. So are they are they separate
- 51:13podcasts like you, you own inspiration for the nation.
- 51:15He owns social money first of. All it used to be an LLC, but I
- 51:19dismantled it. It's a nonprofit now because I
- 51:21think by the nature, maybe I'm making a mistake.
- 51:23Maybe Netflix will buy it one day and now I can't sell it to
- 51:25them. But I'm sure you could figure it
- 51:27out. It's a nonprofit because I
- 51:29believe in like everything we're putting out.
- 51:30Like my goal is every podcast should really help someone live
- 51:33a better life. It's not I'm not real.
- 51:35Again, it is entertaining, but I'm not there for entertainment.
- 51:37I'm really there to help someone just get a better perspective on
- 51:41their life or really financially figure out their whether they're
- 51:45making a lot of money or they're making no money.
- 51:47Like kosher money is there for them or the mental health or the
- 51:50Jewish gram or whatever show that we're having.
- 51:54So living like him is kind of like Netflix.
- 51:56Netflix is not a show. It's a place where you could see
- 52:00multiple shows. So that's what living with Hyme
- 52:03is. And we have a board, so
- 52:05technically I don't even own it. And then there's an inspiration
- 52:07for the nation. There's kosher money.
- 52:09There's that's an issue. Podcast therapy.
- 52:12Jewish Grandma. Zebian Zadie.
- 52:15So you signed in. One or two that I'm forgetting.
- 52:17I feel like my. Kids starting I'm.
- 52:19Forgetting Yeah, we're working on three other ones now.
- 52:21You're trying to build a real media platform.
- 52:24Yeah, you have a bunch of stuff that's that's going in there.
- 52:27You know, once you have over 1,000,000 followers, the options
- 52:31are really open for you. Yeah.
- 52:32I mean, you can start really doing things and making money
- 52:35and that is not what you're focused on.
- 52:37No and I. Think and I'm I'm I don't know
- 52:38if I should be disappointed in you, no you or if I should be
- 52:41impressed by you, but I think you got it I'm.
- 52:43Doing the Mr. Beast model, I, I really think Mr. And I know Mr.
- 52:46Beast is where he is because he just doesn't and he doesn't care
- 52:51about the money. I'm sure he's a human being, but
- 52:53he just invests it back in. He genuinely really cares about
- 52:57and I, I'm not sure, I'm sure we'll hear a podcast one day
- 53:00about like his relationship with his father.
- 53:01I think his father like walked out on him.
- 53:03So like maybe that's where he's like, I don't know where it's
- 53:05coming from, but he's really just by nature just loves it.
- 53:10And that's why, again, I don't know is exact.
- 53:12Like his net worth I think is a billion dollars.
- 53:14Again, I don't think he has a billion dollars, but his empire,
- 53:17what he's built, It's it's because he just passionately
- 53:20just cares. And when you do that, just more
- 53:22money comes. So fellows, yeah, so I am.
- 53:24So if I I, if I went back to myself and just showed myself
- 53:28like how much money we're getting from YouTube a month, I
- 53:30would be like, I would never believe it.
- 53:33Bob Barksham. It's just going and as I go,
- 53:36just. Is YouTube the only platform
- 53:37that's paying you right now? Do you have any we?
- 53:39Make money in three ways. The least way we do is because
- 53:42I'm just not a fundraiser is we are a nonprofit.
- 53:44People could donatelivingtime.com/donate I I
- 53:48only really lean on it. It's like when we make we put a
- 53:50free Tisha buff film cost me $30,000 to produce and it was
- 53:53free and it's amazing because it's free.
- 53:55It's not because it wasn't good, it's just because I just don't
- 53:58want to charge for it. So there I like, I don't have, I
- 54:01mean we have money, but it's like going towards other
- 54:03projects like so I do like fundraise for them, but
- 54:07generally not. The second way is through
- 54:09YouTube. That's our big like second
- 54:11biggest source. And then our biggest way is
- 54:13through our advertisers like Twillery and Kolhabad and
- 54:17Bitbean that Berkshire, they they're sponsorship.
- 54:20They're. Sponsorship.
- 54:21Speaking of which, I have a surprise.
- 54:23You have a sponsor? Yeah.
- 54:24Heck yeah. Let's promote them.
- 54:26Guess who it is? That being twillery.
- 54:28Twillery. Heck yeah.
- 54:30Okay. So well, twillery was just
- 54:32saying can I? Help sell twillery and of course
- 54:33use your problem. Saki was on our podcast and we
- 54:36were just talking about the brand of Twillery.
- 54:40I love twillery he. Couldn't stop talking about it
- 54:41and then we just reached a deal on the.
- 54:45I so OK, so I was wearing them before we reached out to them so
- 54:50that you you already know it's like a good brand.
- 54:53Exactly. Me too, by the way.
- 54:54Yeah, yeah. Me too.
- 54:55Are you joking? You're serious?
- 54:56I'm serious. OK, I mean, right.
- 54:57I am not wearing the shirt now because I don't have that many
- 55:00I'm wearing. I'm wearing the T-shirt from
- 55:02them. I'm wearing the sweatpants by
- 55:03them. They are the most comfortable
- 55:07clothes. Unfashionable.
- 55:09Very I'm serious. I used to be more into my
- 55:12clothes but like in my later 20s I think I kind of gave up on it
- 55:16which my wife isn't so happy about.
- 55:18But since we started with Tillery like 2-3 years ago, they
- 55:21send me a lot of clothes and I promise I look so much better
- 55:24now. Wow so much better.
- 55:26And those she the one shirts that I don't like from
- 55:28Abercrombie. That's like very baggy.
- 55:29My wife hates and she loves when I wear Twitter.
- 55:31I was gonna say, we're going to start looking much better.
- 55:33So excited. Great for solemn bias.
- 55:35I mean, you guys both look pretty put together, so you're
- 55:37fine, but it's. It'll just elevate.
- 55:39It it's just great clothing and. Yeah, Saki said.
- 55:42Something interesting which we're going to experience
- 55:43ourselves and we're going to showcase how it works, is that
- 55:46he's saving a lot of money on dry cleaning.
- 55:48I don't dry clean anymore. It's crazy.
- 55:50Like my suits suits, right, That's you dry clean suits or
- 55:54like even now we've like it past 10 years shirts a lot of people
- 55:56just put in the wash. OK, they have that.
- 55:58But like the fact that I could put my suit in a washing machine
- 56:01and also have the most comfortable suit.
- 56:03You know what, you know it's I'm a little upset about when I
- 56:05started wearing the Twillery suits, it was like I was
- 56:08literally the only one and like it was cool.
- 56:10Like now it's not cool anymore. Everyone wears it and I'm.
- 56:13Like everybody has. I used to be the guy and now
- 56:15everyone wears it but. Nobody gets how much of our
- 56:17time? 2 minutes like 3.
- 56:18Yeah, give them too much. I don't wanna.
- 56:20Give them too much to bill them, do you?
- 56:21Have more? Do they give you a promo code?
- 56:23The promo code, Do you wanna give it?
- 56:24Not yet. Not yet.
- 56:25OK. I should ask them for this
- 56:27episode actually. Give it give it on this one
- 56:29'cause they're very analytical about the promo code.
- 56:31Yeah, yeah. They're analytical about
- 56:33everything and we're excited about that.
- 56:34Yeah. So seeing how many people are
- 56:35gonna come based on who's listening.
- 56:37And I love I think that that environment we we, yeah, we've
- 56:40so I'm. Excited about that.
- 56:41I want to go back to the line of questioning that she had.
- 56:44So I really, really like that you had so many episodes, so
- 56:46many moments that you've. Had how many episodes to be
- 56:49exact? I, I, I don't know, I stopped
- 56:51counting, but oh, I mean for inspirational kind of thing.
- 56:55Inspiration for the nation since you started that.
- 56:57I don't know, like 200, maybe 300 altogether.
- 57:00Wow. A lot.
- 57:01A lot. Of those episodes, I mean,
- 57:05there's so many questions that I would have to ask.
- 57:07And Usher, you touched upon a couple of good ones.
- 57:09I want to know if any of them were a disappointing like, oh,
- 57:13I'm so excited. And then it was like, you don't
- 57:15have to say who it was, obviously.
- 57:16Sure, sure. And then I'd like to know if
- 57:17there's any that was really surprising.
- 57:19Like, you know, you came in one angle and boom, came at another
- 57:22angle. I think the answer is I do a lot
- 57:26of research before, so I usually am not officially bored, but I
- 57:31kind of know, not always. I kind of know what they're all
- 57:34going to say. So generally, I don't think I've
- 57:38ever had one that I was disappointed.
- 57:40Sometimes some of the episodes, the guests aren't as eloquent as
- 57:44I hoped for them to be. But that just means I'll have to
- 57:49cut out the UMS in it. Not me personally.
- 57:52I don't edit it, but our editor would have to cut out the UMS or
- 57:55I remember Mendy Levy. He, he escaped from the cult.
- 58:01What's the cult's name again? Lev Tar.
- 58:02Lev Tar. He escaped from Lev Tar.
- 58:04He's like grew up not speaking English in Guatemala and just
- 58:08speaking hardcore Yiddish. And then I had him on and he has
- 58:12such a compelling story, but he called me after he's like, could
- 58:14we redo it? And I said 100%, like I was open
- 58:17to it. And then when we redid it, like
- 58:19I kind of helped him because I at that point very much knew his
- 58:22story. So I kind of like, you won't see
- 58:24it in it. It'll just like sound like he's
- 58:25just saying over a story. But there were a lot of work
- 58:27that was needed. But he.
- 58:28Shot the whole thing again. And the whole.
- 58:30Episode. It happens a few times.
- 58:31Very nice of you. I it's, it's, it's better for
- 58:33the audience. They the second time you do it,
- 58:36it it's like the person if they're nervous about it and
- 58:39I've done it like 3-4 times at this point, I'm always happy to
- 58:41do it. It's an extra hour of my time
- 58:43and it's a better product like. It's something I'm learning a
- 58:45lot about you is that you're very focused on the audience and
- 58:47what they're listening, very how they're listening.
- 58:49They're my boss. No, I like, I like how you're
- 58:52saying they control. You didn't get the millions of
- 58:53followers by. They're the boss.
- 58:55Reason I look at any creator on YouTube or podcasts, they are,
- 59:01again, I'm not going to like if you know, just put on something
- 59:04crazy because I think they're going to want it.
- 59:06Like I have to try to understand them but they're the boss.
- 59:09No, we were laughing earlier about our first episodes, and
- 59:11the first episodes we were trying for it to be more about,
- 59:14oh, she and I, right. We were like, OK, it should be
- 59:16interesting because we're interesting guys.
- 59:18Little did we know, nobody actually cares about it as much
- 59:21as we think the. Answer is people are thrown with
- 59:23so much content in their face. It could be they are but to get
- 59:26them like to do shows like you mentioned Ben Shapiro before,
- 59:29like to do solo shows. Just just having someone by them
- 59:32self talking. Yeah or or just two guys
- 59:34talking. It is so incredibly difficult to
- 59:37do. Real from a marketing
- 59:38perspective. She also made it very difficult
- 59:41for me when he said I want it to be about anything and
- 59:43everything. And I'm like, Oh my God.
- 59:44From a marketing perspective, if you have a lane, yes, then
- 59:47people listen more. So we don't have really that
- 59:49niche. It turned into a growth oriented
- 59:51podcast and we're loving it. You know what, 'cause then it
- 59:54becomes a commitment. I don't.
- 59:55Even know what What is your lane?
- 59:56What is your niche? So our our niche, I think right
- 59:59now in terms of what we're listening to from the feedback
- 1:00:01is people are enjoying our messages and what people are
- 1:00:03learning from the growth. But hold on, let's say kosher
- 1:00:06money's money. That's an issue.
- 1:00:07Is mental health inspiration? Inspiration I.
- 1:00:09Would say none of your business is the life story of the of the
- 1:00:13guest, but it's a growth oriented podcast.
- 1:00:15Like I am going to ask you what is your message?
- 1:00:17Do you think do you think the the name Shasheft?
- 1:00:21You know what I thought about that over the past few months
- 1:00:23because of the feedback that we've been getting, and then
- 1:00:25we're heading in that direction. But the idea of None of Your
- 1:00:28Business, first of all, it's a cute name and it's a cute name.
- 1:00:30I love when people ask us what the name of our podcast is, when
- 1:00:32we say None of Your Business and it takes them a second.
- 1:00:34Yeah, it takes them a second. Yeah, they do a little double
- 1:00:36tape. Yeah.
- 1:00:36But I ask something, Right? Right.
- 1:00:38It's like I didn't ask you for your.
- 1:00:40Look at their No, no, no, it's. But I it's cool.
- 1:00:41I think also the the double meaning to it is almost like,
- 1:00:45you know, I'm a guest on your podcast.
- 1:00:47I'm going to say things, but normally I wouldn't share it and
- 1:00:50it wouldn't be any anybody's business, but I'm going to share
- 1:00:52it, you know. So the hopes that is that is
- 1:00:54really the hopes of getting the guests to share things that they
- 1:00:57would normally not share. And that is the messages that
- 1:01:00we're trying to get from people and the growth, you know, that
- 1:01:02we're trying to experience. So that's and then we realized
- 1:01:05that we needed to have guests and then like those guests is
- 1:01:07really what makes the shows and getting creative guests and
- 1:01:10people that have not been recycled too much and people are
- 1:01:13interested in or they never heard of them before.
- 1:01:15And I love doing that in terms of trying to find those guests.
- 1:01:18And I don't mind recycling, you know, people that have been out
- 1:01:20there, especially because our audience is our audience and
- 1:01:23they're very committed audience. That's awesome.
- 1:01:25And you know, we do have a healthcare background, sales and
- 1:01:27marketing. So we have those listeners as
- 1:01:29well. But it's been from all over.
- 1:01:30But tell me another guest that surprised you.
- 1:01:32Someone that came in like so I. Remember, so I'm very close to
- 1:01:35Lavie Greenspan. He is someone who who went blind
- 1:01:38that I don't remember the age, but like age of 20 something he
- 1:01:42had like a tumor. And Long story short, he became
- 1:01:44blind and he grew up like very modern Orthodox.
- 1:01:48And as time went on, he's become to me, he he's, he's a Sadiq.
- 1:01:52Like you'll go around with him every cuddle he has their
- 1:01:55number, he's speaking to them. He's always giving out brachas.
- 1:01:58He's always buying sfarim and just talking about Yiden.
- 1:02:01He's he's I, I'm kidding. He says he, he could see Hashem
- 1:02:04in a certain way, you'd keep up. I don't know.
- 1:02:06He's a Sadiq. I'm not exaggerating either way.
- 1:02:09Very excitingly. He was always just dying to get.
- 1:02:12He said I'd rather get married than be able to see he got
- 1:02:15married and and I interviewed him and and his his the girl so
- 1:02:20actually saw the interview and she wasn't going to go out with
- 1:02:22him. But because of it, she actually
- 1:02:23said I'm going to go out with him crazy.
- 1:02:26And they went out and she reached out to me the night
- 1:02:27before they got engaged, said you should know because of your
- 1:02:29interview. I decided to actually go out
- 1:02:32with him, which is crazy. I did not get shahanas yet and
- 1:02:35I'm now get it. But no, no, the idea of it.
- 1:02:37It's like it's crazy. Like what's his name again?
- 1:02:39I'm sorry. V Greenspan.
- 1:02:41Wow, Sadiq totally should have him because he doesn't do too
- 1:02:43many podcasts either way. OK, great.
- 1:02:46And and then and she she's a key ORS fine.
- 1:02:48I did actually did a video, one of my favorite videos on our
- 1:02:51YouTube channel. I vlogged their wedding.
- 1:02:53He had the Rashivas of Lakewood and the Rashivas of Yu, which
- 1:02:57they're very different, like sitting next to each other, like
- 1:03:00he's a tadek. He's not Mashiach, but he's that
- 1:03:03level. He's helping bring Mashiach.
- 1:03:05I did yeah, literally and and I did a whole vlog of his wedding.
- 1:03:07It's a fun 10 minute video. Highly recommend you watch it.
- 1:03:10It's great either way. I said I would love to have you
- 1:03:14and your wife and and like this is this is great.
- 1:03:17Like the fact like such different worlds and I start and
- 1:03:20great. I, I know her stories, Goris
- 1:03:22Goris from, I forgot from we're, I don't know, somewhere out of
- 1:03:26town. And at the point I, at that time
- 1:03:29I knew. And while they're sitting down,
- 1:03:31she was describing that she grew up in a place and they're
- 1:03:34Christian. And she started describing that
- 1:03:36they were Christians, but they made believe that they were
- 1:03:38Jewish. And they started blending into
- 1:03:41the Jewish community in order to get other, to get Jews to
- 1:03:45believe in Yashka. And then at a point, she felt it
- 1:03:48was wrong. Like, what were you doing?
- 1:03:50She's tried leaving and they didn't let her leave.
- 1:03:52I'm like, wait a SEC. And like, I didn't know this
- 1:03:54about her. I'm like, were you in a cult?
- 1:03:56She's like, yeah, I was in a cult.
- 1:03:57Forgot the name of the cult, but she was literally in a cult.
- 1:03:59It wasn't these crazy cults where they'll, like, murder you
- 1:04:01if you leave. She got out of it, but she was
- 1:04:03in a cult. So like, like, you could watch
- 1:04:06this interview. I don't know.
- 1:04:06I did it like, like a year ago. I'm like you.
- 1:04:09You actually see me actually shocked?
- 1:04:12Like, holy cow. Like, I did not know.
- 1:04:14I've had people who were in cults before, but like, I did
- 1:04:16not know Lavie's wife was in a cult.
- 1:04:19And like, he's like, sitting there.
- 1:04:20Like, yeah, she was like, it was crazy, crazy.
- 1:04:22And I was like, fascinated, like actually in the interview.
- 1:04:25And she's great. I mean, Someone Like You must
- 1:04:27have so many messages. I mean, we've been already
- 1:04:29hearing so many of them. But what would be that one
- 1:04:31message for people listening in terms of growth, right?
- 1:04:34And it could be none of anyone's business, but, you know, we want
- 1:04:37you to share it. But in terms of someone who's,
- 1:04:39you know, you have a lot of listeners that are listening to
- 1:04:41your podcast. People are all over social media
- 1:04:43trying to, you know, they're thirsty for something, right?
- 1:04:46What would be your message? Yeah, I'm going to give super
- 1:04:48cliche, but for me personally, it means everything.
- 1:04:51I think there's a quote in, I don't know if it's Pierre K,
- 1:04:54Elvis or somewhere else in Khazal.
- 1:04:56It's a safe. You say it's in Khazal.
- 1:04:57I mean, you're safe. You don't prove me otherwise.
- 1:05:00Exactly. So it's out there and it says
- 1:05:03that Hashem created the world. And when you're in it again, I'm
- 1:05:11like butchering it, but like you need to be in it.
- 1:05:13And I think so often and, and I don't blame it, but I think like
- 1:05:17when I was growing up, like you look, you look at like the
- 1:05:19dilemma and, and other people in life.
- 1:05:21And you're like, kind of like you were saying with, with the
- 1:05:24podcast about like people going through tragedy.
- 1:05:25Like you look at those people going through and like, oh,
- 1:05:28like, yeah, Rufheim Karievsky's Rufheim Karievsky.
- 1:05:30And like we're kind of like trying to emulate them, but at a
- 1:05:33certain point in life, and at least from seeing all these
- 1:05:36different people and their different stories and like you
- 1:05:39have your mission, I'm created you for whatever it is.
- 1:05:43Maybe it's to make a lot of money and give out a lot to
- 1:05:45DACA. Maybe it's to weird your citiz.
- 1:05:47Maybe it's to do has it for a family.
- 1:05:49I don't know what your mission is in life, but we all have it.
- 1:05:52And as long as you're living like that is your mission.
- 1:05:55And don't get it's so easy to get jealous of different people
- 1:05:59because they're more in quote, successful, they're making more
- 1:06:01money or they're getting more views or, or, or whatever it is.
- 1:06:04And every there's always what to be jealous about other people.
- 1:06:07But like you have your life, you have your family, you have your
- 1:06:10maybe you don't have a family. I don't know.
- 1:06:11You're Hashem is giving you whatever he's supposed to be
- 1:06:14giving you. And that's that's life.
- 1:06:16And that's a good thing. It's not a bad thing.
- 1:06:18Love it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:20I think that makes sense. It makes a lot of sense that's.
- 1:06:22Make a lot. Unfortunately, it makes a lot of
- 1:06:24sense and now we gotta go figure out what that is.
- 1:06:27Yeah, I gotta figure it out. That isn't that the whole chase,
- 1:06:29That's the part I really journey.
- 1:06:31It's a. Journey, I really look at it
- 1:06:32like I think and you guys are like the health.
- 1:06:34I, I really think there are, there's, there's someone who's
- 1:06:3875 years old now, again, I'm nothing of anyone specific who
- 1:06:40owns 50 nursing homes. And I personally, I'm 33 years
- 1:06:44old. I don't own any nursing homes.
- 1:06:46I'll take one. I don't know own anything.
- 1:06:49I am not financially like so rich Berksham.
- 1:06:52I have a family, I'm good. I make mistakes.
- 1:06:54Life is not perfect, but like, I think I genuinely get more
- 1:06:57simplest time and more fulfillment in my life because
- 1:07:00I, again, maybe he does. I am, he's giving lots of luck
- 1:07:03maybe, but I think I am getting more.
- 1:07:05I'm just using that guy who's like working all day and I'm
- 1:07:09like what I'm doing is giving me more fulfillment then him again,
- 1:07:12I'm comparing me to him then, but I'm just very thankful for
- 1:07:15what I have. And I, I think, I think a lot of
- 1:07:18us. With that, it's okay to compare
- 1:07:20yourself to others in the reverse way, right?
- 1:07:22You know, saying I'm better off, Yeah, you know, but look at what
- 1:07:25he's going through. I think he has a more difficult.
- 1:07:26I have to think I have a great that's a beautiful thing.
- 1:07:29That's sort of the way it was meant to be by design.
- 1:07:30That's what you should be doing is when you compare yourself
- 1:07:33that way, which which lucky you is that I I can see, by the way.
- 1:07:36Yeah, Go. Here's my take.
- 1:07:37OK, I'm gonna sit with you for like an hour now.
- 1:07:40I like a good take and a lot A lot of people are watching you
- 1:07:42for many years. They're seeing, you know, I'm
- 1:07:44seeing a different side of you. You're generally a nice guy.
- 1:07:47You're you're you're you're good peoples like you're somebody I.
- 1:07:50Think I'm way more better than people realize by the way, I'm
- 1:07:53serious. I am my ask my wife.
- 1:07:55I am like. I don't like going anywhere.
- 1:07:57I am like, yeah, I'm jaded, but but I, I'm, you know, I'm a nice
- 1:08:02guy. I'm a nice guy.
- 1:08:03No, I, I hate big crowds. I, I rarely go to like, I enjoy
- 1:08:09weddings because I like seeing my friends, but like, I don't
- 1:08:11like, like my wife wanted to go to concert.
- 1:08:13I'm like, heck no, I'm not going to like, I don't like, I get
- 1:08:16free tickets all the time. Like hey, let's Bart.
- 1:08:17I'm like, no, I this is not. I will pay money not to go to
- 1:08:20these places. So interesting.
- 1:08:21Yeah, I like, but I I love that. No, I love that because.
- 1:08:25I'm one-on-one, like or whatever, whatever this is like
- 1:08:27this, I love. I don't like the big crowd.
- 1:08:29I guess you don't see the other people right in.
- 1:08:31Front I don't see them it's one on ones.
- 1:08:33It's very different. I go to my studio, I go to my
- 1:08:35office like I and I see and I love the one on ones, but
- 1:08:38there's. A lot of depth to you.
- 1:08:39There's a lot of you know, there's intimacy, you know,
- 1:08:41it's, it's more of. You know, I'll be honest, we
- 1:08:43were talking about this before. Like, you know, you asked us
- 1:08:46where's our podcast going? Like, what are we doing?
- 1:08:49I'll tell you where I'd like it to go.
- 1:08:50Sure where I'd like it to go. Oh whoa, whoa, one second.
- 1:08:53I'd like to hear this too. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:08:54Go ahead. Tell me, 'cause last time we
- 1:08:56started off I was like, oh, she we hit 10,000 listeners is like,
- 1:08:59so I'm like, OK, that's great. I thought that's a pretty and
- 1:09:03you actually confirmed now that 10,000 is a pretty significant
- 1:09:05number? And that was great.
- 1:09:06Yeah, yeah, but it's not good enough for him.
- 1:09:08But let's hear what would you like us?
- 1:09:10I wanna have fun. I want to talk about things that
- 1:09:13people haven't talked about openly in our communities.
- 1:09:17Sure. And I'm not talking about the
- 1:09:18like you. Know he's doing great with that
- 1:09:20again I I I don't understand it because it's in Yiddish, but I
- 1:09:22Nachi nachi onsanti I love him you know what I'm.
- 1:09:25Talking about I'm a big fan. Yeah, I think, again, I've never
- 1:09:27actually listened. And I think he's like pushing
- 1:09:29them a little, a little too much.
- 1:09:30Yeah, but Binker but they think. That payment, yeah, yeah, we
- 1:09:33need a little bit of entertainment, but.
- 1:09:35And that's OK. You could have your goals for
- 1:09:36it, and you could have your goals and and.
- 1:09:38That's what I want. But by the way, again, mine is
- 1:09:40very self-serving. Yeah.
- 1:09:41And I've been helping a lot of people by doing that.
- 1:09:43That's fair. But I do think that I am helping
- 1:09:45in a way that we're bringing joy into people's lives a little
- 1:09:49bit, and we're bringing that certain entertainment that would
- 1:09:51somewhat be closer. Yeah.
- 1:09:52I'm not talking about nasty type of entertainment, talking about
- 1:09:55right, you know, good entertainment that people could
- 1:09:57get behind. And instead of watching a
- 1:09:59Netflix show, what's that what they'll TuneIn for now?
- 1:10:02I think that's. Very.
- 1:10:03It's good vibes, good energy and I want to have other people that
- 1:10:06are interesting, other people that have what to say, what to
- 1:10:09talk about. You could sit.
- 1:10:11That's what I want in my. There's something very.
- 1:10:12That's what I want. By the fact I'm making
- 1:10:13$1,000,000 while I'm doing it, it'll be also very nice.
- 1:10:15Yeah, I wouldn't say no. Yeah, I wouldn't say.
- 1:10:18You know you're going to get a few free shirts from toilet.
- 1:10:21No expectations, no on the money side, by the way, it's like you
- 1:10:24said, there's no real money in this.
- 1:10:26At the end of the day, it's actually costing us a lot of
- 1:10:28money to to do what we're doing, but we we like it because it is
- 1:10:32helping us grow. I feel like since we started
- 1:10:34doing this podcast, we've, I've met incredible people just like
- 1:10:37you have on your podcast. I've seen so many people sit in
- 1:10:39that chair and I've heard their stories.
- 1:10:41I'm blown away. I'm like, who are you?
- 1:10:43You an alien? Where did you come from?
- 1:10:45Right. Yeah.
- 1:10:45And we met a guy that was a guest here, lives in my
- 1:10:48neighborhood and I barely ever knew him.
- 1:10:50And also as I was telling us all these things of it, and I'm
- 1:10:52like, wow. I mean, we just like we unpacked
- 1:10:55everything that's there and there's so many layers to this.
- 1:10:57He's an incredible person. And from that alone, I'm
- 1:11:01becoming a little bit better. I'm becoming more in tune with
- 1:11:04with what's out there. So I'm appreciating it.
- 1:11:06And, and this is what Michael told me from the beginning.
- 1:11:08He's like, let's just go on this journey and we'll see where it
- 1:11:11takes us. Like we never really had a major
- 1:11:13plan. We didn't put a five year plan,
- 1:11:1510 year plan. Let's do it.
- 1:11:16Let's jump in and let's see how it goes.
- 1:11:18And that's sort of where we are right now.
- 1:11:20Where it goes from here. We shall see.
- 1:11:22You know, we're, we're writing this book as as we're speaking,
- 1:11:26we're literally page by page. But that's where I would love it
- 1:11:28to go. It's just to have fun, have a
- 1:11:30good time, good vibes, good energy.
- 1:11:32You know, there's something I, I do think that is spiritual
- 1:11:36about, and I don't mean spiritual, like Yeshivish from
- 1:11:39spiritual, but like there's something that, you know, I, I
- 1:11:41guess the way Hashem created the world, it's he kind of the way
- 1:11:45he created himself, not created himself, but created this world
- 1:11:48that we relate to him is, you know, for example, Hashem
- 1:11:53created the world. So there's something when you
- 1:11:55create a business, right, and it's successful.
- 1:11:57There's a certain enjoyment, not, not even the money.
- 1:11:59There's something about it that you're creating, having
- 1:12:01children. Like there's something that's
- 1:12:03very and knock us exactly. So I, I think in the same way,
- 1:12:06like there's, you know, davening and there's, there's that
- 1:12:08relationship that back and forth with Hashem.
- 1:12:11There's something very cathartic about just what we're doing
- 1:12:14right right now. Like there's again, I think
- 1:12:17we're in a time where technology is like connecting us but also
- 1:12:20bringing us apart. Like when do we sit down with
- 1:12:24our spouse or with our friends and just like just schmooze
- 1:12:27without anything in our way. And these mics are such a good
- 1:12:31decoy of like just being able to.
- 1:12:33I don't on Shabbos, my phone is off and I don't struggle with my
- 1:12:36phone on Shabbos. But like, other than that, I am
- 1:12:38totally addicted to my phone. I, I'm, I was, I was up for 19
- 1:12:42hours yesterday. Let's say I was on my phone for
- 1:12:4418 1/2 hours, like for sure. And there's something very nice
- 1:12:48about just being here and connecting and the moment
- 1:12:52talking to you guys and figuring out and finding out about your.
- 1:12:54Podcast look at your phone once you haven't even.
- 1:12:56Put it down over there. Amazing.
- 1:12:58Yako, I'm curious, what do you say about this?
- 1:13:00So he wants more of the entertainment.
- 1:13:02I'm looking for more of the growth.
- 1:13:03How do we marry this? Is when you guys split up and
- 1:13:05you both not gonna I I think. Let's talk about that.
- 1:13:09Let's talk about it. This conversation was coming.
- 1:13:11I. Think you would burn out?
- 1:13:12You would burn out If you guys like actually split up, I think
- 1:13:15you'd burn out faster than him. I think he genuinely likes it
- 1:13:20more and you kind of like want to have the fun more than the
- 1:13:23actual podcasting. So I don't have longevity in
- 1:13:25this game. You're.
- 1:13:26Saying I don't think so. If I had a bet, I'd bet more on
- 1:13:28him. But I don't think you guys
- 1:13:30should split up. And I think there's it's like, I
- 1:13:33think you should bring on some guests you want and you should
- 1:13:35bring on some guests you want. And then you're not going to
- 1:13:37like this. You should kind of figure out
- 1:13:40from the audience what they want.
- 1:13:42But there, there is a discovery point where it's like kind of.
- 1:13:45A little bit of both there, I think.
- 1:13:47So yeah, see what the what we've actually had.
- 1:13:48Still knew, I mean, I know you're 60 right, 60 N, but it
- 1:13:52that's still new, like you're still like you're audience.
- 1:13:54For knowing that. But I saw it, I did my question.
- 1:13:57You know, we've done a couple of solo stuff where he's
- 1:13:59interviewed a couple. We did one solo episode each.
- 1:14:02Who? OK.
- 1:14:03I interviewed somebody separately, OK, friends, and I
- 1:14:06chose someone else. And also when I'm in Israel I'm
- 1:14:08gonna be solo, so I'm gonna do stuff myself.
- 1:14:10I don't have a choice OK of guest, Co host or whatever.
- 1:14:12I could zoom in. We've never done the zoom thing,
- 1:14:15by the way. I know I find that.
- 1:14:17About this for the first time together so it's OK.
- 1:14:19It's OK, that's. Why we're doing that?
- 1:14:20How we snap. That intervention?
- 1:14:22Then it's gonna tell me later what I mean.
- 1:14:23We, we talked about it. You don't.
- 1:14:25Remember, you remember, you're out of the business.
- 1:14:26Like exactly We talk about it. He's gonna.
- 1:14:28Have a new podcast called Out of the Business.
- 1:14:32Yeah, yeah, it. Was my business or something
- 1:14:34like? That yeah, it was.
- 1:14:35My business, yeah, we started in the.
- 1:14:37I'm hiring by any chance? Yeah.
- 1:14:39We started. Looking for someone?
- 1:14:40Yeah, yeah. Let's start off.
- 1:14:43We did start off with you saying, you know, can you ask
- 1:14:45questions? Do you have any questions?
- 1:14:47For us, what's your least favorite part about podcasting?
- 1:14:50Each of you and yeah. Oh.
- 1:14:52My God I have like 5 things. One thing, one thing, one thing.
- 1:14:55Oh. My God you're almost like
- 1:14:56triggering things for me right now.
- 1:14:57Like. One thing.
- 1:14:58What is this? No, no, there's a lot.
- 1:14:59Of things I hate, there's a lot of joy stuff that I hate.
- 1:15:02But but like which part of the process do you not enjoy that?
- 1:15:05I'm going to say the one thing for me because I don't have 5
- 1:15:07things. It's the lights, the cameras and
- 1:15:09the technicals and not the no, it's it's talking in front of a
- 1:15:12camera. Oh, I have a difficult time.
- 1:15:14I know you guys like thrive on like some cameras.
- 1:15:16I don't, but it's OK. And the reason why it's OK for
- 1:15:19me is because I learned to listen more so.
- 1:15:21I, I have a a technical solution.
- 1:15:23There's dire of CEO. He has, I don't know the name of
- 1:15:25it, a boom mic, but basically the mic's above him.
- 1:15:28Yeah, that doesn't matter. I know the camera's on me.
- 1:15:30That's yeah. But you do feel less.
- 1:15:33I personally don't. I have that that's.
- 1:15:34My channel of the camera. So what's your?
- 1:15:37What's your? I know what.
- 1:15:39Yours is. It's me.
- 1:15:42Well, some of your stuff, one of the good things, but I would say
- 1:15:44bad things. Stefan, you're giving us up too
- 1:15:47little credit. Here's one thing I hate.
- 1:15:50I hate when I have to sit there for two hours and listen to
- 1:15:52somebody that I just you. Don't find interesting.
- 1:15:54Yeah, sorry. Yeah, sorry about it, not.
- 1:15:55A hard time faking things. I don't know.
- 1:15:57If you notice, I wear my emotions on my sleeve, right?
- 1:15:59I'm pretty straightforward and blunt and I have a hard time
- 1:16:02acting. So if somebody is like just
- 1:16:04boring me and it's like it's just not going anywhere and I
- 1:16:07gotta sit through it because I gotta be polite.
- 1:16:09Interesting you. Know I gotta be polite and I
- 1:16:10gotta do the do the job. I hate that.
- 1:16:12Well, in a good way. You don't actually sit through,
- 1:16:14you always change the topic or you'll jump out the next thing,
- 1:16:16which is OK. Yeah, I guess.
- 1:16:18How often does that happen? More often or less often.
- 1:16:20Not that often. It didn't happen that that
- 1:16:22often. We only had 60 guests at this
- 1:16:23point. I would say probably four or
- 1:16:25five times. OK, at least it happened at
- 1:16:26least four or five times. Manage 5-10 minutes into the
- 1:16:29podcast, there's like bored. I'm ready to think to myself, oh
- 1:16:31God, this is going to be a long two hours.
- 1:16:33You know what's great about those?
- 1:16:34But I have to say, those are the ones that performed the best.
- 1:16:37Oh, really? Continue his opinion.
- 1:16:40I don't agree I. Don't.
- 1:16:43Understand threw that out there like factual like that's all he
- 1:16:47has to do. So I hate that.
- 1:16:49I also don't love, I don't love the notoriety that that it comes
- 1:16:54along. Oh, you don't like it?
- 1:16:55No, I don't love that part. I don't I I like that it's there
- 1:16:59and it's out there and I'm happy to do it, but I don't need to
- 1:17:02hear everybody's like opinion. Right.
- 1:17:04Yeah, people have a lot of opinions, right.
- 1:17:06By the way, I always feel the people who give the most
- 1:17:08feedback and critiques and opinions are the people that
- 1:17:11don't actually watch or listen. It's the people that like, saw
- 1:17:14the title, saw clip, they have, and then they say everything.
- 1:17:16I'm like, did you actually listen?
- 1:17:17No, they didn't. I only listen to one person.
- 1:17:20Sure. Nissan Tepper.
- 1:17:21I gotta give him a shout. Oh I love Nissan Tepper.
- 1:17:23He is, You know, Nissan. I know Nissan Tepper.
- 1:17:25You're kidding me. Yeah, OK.
- 1:17:27When's the last time you spoke to him?
- 1:17:29I'm on a chat with him, he's today he spoke on the chat.
- 1:17:31Our parents go to the same bungalow colony, White House
- 1:17:34Estates. OK, so.
- 1:17:35Our parents are. Best friends, his his father,
- 1:17:38his parents come. They come to him a little.
- 1:17:40Bit yeah, yeah, Muncie. I've seen him by my stroll a few
- 1:17:42times, a pretty cool guy, but he's a big fan.
- 1:17:45He watches every episode and I appreciate his feedback.
- 1:17:48You know why? Because I know that he is giving
- 1:17:51intelligent feedback. He's actually heard the entire
- 1:17:53thing. He had all the context from the
- 1:17:54beginning to the end, and that's the kind of feedback that's
- 1:17:57genuine. It's it's impactful, it means
- 1:18:00something. So I appreciate that.
- 1:18:02But you're right, I hate the ones that clearly have sound
- 1:18:05bites. That they do.
- 1:18:06And they're making a comment and also they're just trying to hate
- 1:18:09because like, they're the type of people they like to tear
- 1:18:11other people down. I yeah, I hate those people.
- 1:18:13I I hate those people. I realize that that concept
- 1:18:15exists when I don't remember what I think it was like 2, two
- 1:18:20years ago, I interviewed Eric Adams and for me, it was like,
- 1:18:23Oh my gosh, the mayor, the mayor, I had him on the podcast
- 1:18:26and I'm like, holy cow, this is gonna be one of the best
- 1:18:28performing episodes. It was not.
- 1:18:30It was one of the lowest performing episodes, but the
- 1:18:32Hock it created, it was crazy Hock because Oh my gosh, yes.
- 1:18:36And I realized very quickly from there that the hackers that
- 1:18:41don't actually listen to it, they were all Hocking about and
- 1:18:44sharing photo. But the actual podcast, no, like
- 1:18:46not no one people listened, but like it was so much lower.
- 1:18:49And I'm like, OK, there's the hackers and then there's the
- 1:18:52actual listener. So don't pay too much attention
- 1:18:55to the hackers. There's the guys who like seeing
- 1:18:57the news on WhatsApp and this and like they don't actually
- 1:19:00listen to the. Box you hear that distinction
- 1:19:02the hackers and the listeners yes right.
- 1:19:05So I like the way you clarified that.
- 1:19:07So I like the listeners. Yes, I don't like.
- 1:19:09I dislike like no one. Likes the Hockers.
- 1:19:11Yeah. Exactly.
- 1:19:12They always have critiques and and they're critics.
- 1:19:14That eight or she or you had more.
- 1:19:15Michael, you know what's gonna happen when we split up?
- 1:19:17We're gonna have a very big disagreement about who gets to
- 1:19:20keep Stefan. I'm just Stefan's gonna be the
- 1:19:22child that the two parents are gonna fight over who gets
- 1:19:25covered up to the overstep. I'm gonna get 2 hanukkahs.
- 1:19:27I want he's. Old enough, I think.
- 1:19:28Hell, he's old enough to choose. You know, he's like, OK, you
- 1:19:31every second child is Michael. You could have her.
- 1:19:33Before we wrap up, Yakov, we always ask people who you think
- 1:19:36would be a great guest on the podcast and we'd love for you to
- 1:19:39pick 1. So kind of like.
- 1:19:40Base my answer based on like what your audience would like.
- 1:19:46I mean, he's been around about Shlaimi Zions.
- 1:19:49All right, so we're calling Shlaimi Zions and we're going to
- 1:19:51we're going to get him on the podcast.
- 1:19:56I'm curious if I would appreciate what I'm doing to
- 1:19:57him. Yeah, you never know.
- 1:20:02And his defense? It is 11:00 PM at night.
- 1:20:05Not so terrible. And that's when he's starting
- 1:20:07his journey. He's recording his trip to the
- 1:20:09Kotel or something. Well, if he's not answering,
- 1:20:12he's probably in the middle of creating content somewhere.
- 1:20:15That was a quick call. I feel bad.
- 1:20:16Because every minute I'm out there, I'm like Michaels
- 1:20:19trialing this new model. No, no, we're we're talking
- 1:20:23about he had to ask. He asked a good question about
- 1:20:25like really you, you guys hit the goals that you're trying to
- 1:20:28hit and now you have the ability to really morph this into more
- 1:20:33exciting or more different kind of show and just how to really
- 1:20:37hit that. I'm gaining from being on here
- 1:20:40and you're gaining from me being on here like there's a.
- 1:20:42Yeah, yeah. I mean, if you don't pump up our
- 1:20:44viewership by like at least 10 times, I don't think that.
- 1:20:46Interesting. I hate the breaking.
- 1:20:48You're disappointed? Yeah.
- 1:20:49Sorry. You're going.
- 1:20:49To be people who are on your team.
- 1:20:50How many people in the entire organization of Living with
- 1:20:53Time? Yeah, I would say about 8:00,
- 1:20:57but only one person is full time and I and I like that.
- 1:21:00I like that Where not necessarily awful like we're all
- 1:21:05doing other things also. Everybody has day jobs as well.
- 1:21:08Basically, basically, yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:10I mean, many of us, it's, it's our full time, but like we also
- 1:21:14have other things. Would you be willing to share
- 1:21:15like what your budget is on a yearly basis?
- 1:21:17Yeah, I'm totally happy to. When you get my brother, you
- 1:21:21could ask him. I don't know the answer to that.
- 1:21:22You know you're not involved whatsoever.
- 1:21:24If we can get his brother on and he's saying his brother is very
- 1:21:26reluctant to coming on podcasts in general, yeah.
- 1:21:29I mean, he's reluctant to like. He likes him.
- 1:21:31He you've mentioned him a few. Episodes from him.
- 1:21:34Money. Yeah, and I'm like people get
- 1:21:37like weird about it. Like I'm like, oh, like podcasts
- 1:21:39come up, like I like your brothers show more.
- 1:21:42I'm like, first of all, it's my brother is a host of it.
- 1:21:44But like it's your program. It's more him because I'm not
- 1:21:47doing it, but like it's my grandchild.
- 1:21:49It's not like sure. Thank you.
- 1:21:50Like if you like any of the living Leheim shows more than
- 1:21:53inspiration, totally fine. I'm just more shallow.
- 1:21:56So no, no, I appreciate more about the business of.
- 1:21:59Him interviewing A billionaire people, that's interesting.
- 1:22:01Advice that they're giving, I appreciate that, so that's why
- 1:22:04I. Nobody TuneIn, but that's that's
- 1:22:06exactly like I like that like I like that different like we're
- 1:22:09creating different shows for different kinds of.
- 1:22:10People, something for everyone. Yeah, literally, literally that.
- 1:22:13Yeah. But yeah, he would know.
- 1:22:15But I don't know. In your life, ever since you got
- 1:22:17very not popular, very popular, I mean, you'd be hard pressed to
- 1:22:21find somebody that you talk to in the Jewish communities
- 1:22:25anywhere. Like on a person it's.
- 1:22:26Funny who you are. You always hear this from, like,
- 1:22:28rich people or like, Hollywood celebrities.
- 1:22:30Like, once you get a certain point, like, it doesn't mean
- 1:22:33anything. Like, I'm from the famous side
- 1:22:36of it. Like, it doesn't mean anything.
- 1:22:37Like, my personal life is exactly the same.
- 1:22:40Yeah, Here and there. I'll go out to eat, and then,
- 1:22:42you know, someone will stop me and stuff like that.
- 1:22:44And I feel good for a second. But like nothing actually
- 1:22:46changes. Your wife hate it, is she?
- 1:22:47She's a. Lot more proud when it happens.
- 1:22:51She kind of like makes fun of me for it.
- 1:22:52I think, yeah, she's like way the opposite personality.
- 1:22:55She doesn't want to be bothered. She doesn't want like I bring
- 1:22:57her on sometimes she's a Co host sometimes, yeah, sometimes it's
- 1:23:01like it's like it's going to be like too intimate like me and
- 1:23:04like a woman like a like like sneeze wise, like it makes
- 1:23:07sense. And also she bring like and I
- 1:23:08have like she's a food scientist.
- 1:23:09So like if it's food related, like kosher cooks and stuff like
- 1:23:13that, she brings it to a certain flair that I just don't know
- 1:23:17food well. But I think like like mentality,
- 1:23:22like I have a different wardrobe now, like that's practically
- 1:23:25different do. You feel like you have to be
- 1:23:27more adept with your looks, like, you know, making sure your
- 1:23:30your hair is made and making sure your your beard is looking
- 1:23:33good. No.
- 1:23:34Do you care more about your parents?
- 1:23:36No, I'm. The same, I think I'm the same.
- 1:23:37I think I'm the same. I just happened to get.
- 1:23:40It's like we again. It's surreal.
- 1:23:41Like I don't view myself as a probably AC list celebrity.
- 1:23:46Like I don't view myself like that, but but I guess I am and
- 1:23:50and like yeah, it surprised me every time I so.
- 1:23:52What's the nicest perk other than Twillery that came with
- 1:23:55everything that you're doing from a purely materialistic
- 1:23:58standpoint? I I, I think I've gained more
- 1:24:03respect from people that don't know me.
- 1:24:07Be more credibility. I think more credibility, yeah,
- 1:24:09yeah. And, and, and, and sense if I'm
- 1:24:11like the rabbinic world, like I, I, I know there's some rebuttim
- 1:24:14that like, I don't, I don't know, like I know of them and I
- 1:24:17guess they know of me. But like my conversation with
- 1:24:19them I think is very different had I not been where it is.
- 1:24:22But not just rebuttim, just like in business and just in general,
- 1:24:26I guess so. But like practically, does that
- 1:24:28mean anything? Just makes me feel good But I
- 1:24:30don't I don't think it's now it could close more deals and think
- 1:24:33like I I don't. You technically could, I guess.
- 1:24:36So but. Were were you invited to like
- 1:24:38any pay sock programs yet? Yeah, this past year, well, it
- 1:24:42was like kind of like a well, I OK, so I got invited to like two
- 1:24:45or three programs, but the trade off was that they were going to
- 1:24:49pay me. There was one in like Dubai,
- 1:24:50which is like Dubai, but I'm like, OK, I will get a free pay
- 1:24:53sock in Dubai with my wife and two kids.
- 1:24:56Amazing, amazing. But I like going to my parents
- 1:25:00and my in laws right? And I don't pay anything when I
- 1:25:04go there and I'm 33 years old. They should live until 120.
- 1:25:07How many more pay socks will I have it than my parents and in
- 1:25:10laws are making like I actually. I don't know but one less pay
- 1:25:12sock with your parents for Dubai.
- 1:25:14I like it. I like it.
- 1:25:15I'm not with my parents so often and like and I'd rather go to
- 1:25:18Dubai on like a speaking kind of gig kind of thing for free like
- 1:25:21that I would do, but like for pay sock and then I also have to
- 1:25:24like do pot like I have to work like, you know, it's not.
- 1:25:27So this past year my in laws went up program and I went for
- 1:25:31free and they were going anyway so I I did that.
- 1:25:34Interesting. But how about like the Haas
- 1:25:36concert You get like, you know. Free tickets to that whatever
- 1:25:39our big event. Yeah.
- 1:25:41So the answer is every concert I get Ishai Rebo's team, like
- 1:25:44always hitting me up at first like I did 1 barter with them
- 1:25:48because someone on our team, Yoni Schwartz loves music.
- 1:25:50I'm like Yoni, go have fun front row tickets.
- 1:25:53I don't I hate these kind again, Ishai Rebo's a great singer.
- 1:25:56All singers are great. I don't like music in public.
- 1:26:00I don't know, maybe I'm weird. So for me, I always turn it down
- 1:26:03and and I always tell them, like, if you want us to, you
- 1:26:07know, do an ad for you, happy to, but like barter, like it's
- 1:26:10so it's not worth it. Like our ads cost more than the
- 1:26:13ticket. Like it doesn't make sense.
- 1:26:15So yeah, I got offers for that, but it's not like Twillery kind
- 1:26:18of thing. Again, they pay, but like
- 1:26:20getting their free stuff. I actually want their again.
- 1:26:22I'm plugging Twillery so much. I whatever.
- 1:26:24I love you too. It's OK, we wanna get more code,
- 1:26:26so we're. Gonna use your code we're.
- 1:26:28Editing this out this. Is a way too no.
- 1:26:30But like. We need a code by the way
- 1:26:31machine. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:26:33Yeah, those things getting out of hand.
- 1:26:34I didn't even get any stuff yet. I'm just saying my.
- 1:26:37Word from other sponsor I should plug bit B more and Cole Chabad
- 1:26:40more Who? Are they wills to lease?
- 1:26:42Wills to lease. Wills to lease.
- 1:26:43Yeah, the Hersh cups look real. Yeah, they've been ready for a.
- 1:26:46Long time, over 35 years. Wow.
- 1:26:48And there's a reason because they have integrity.
- 1:26:50I'm sorry if it's like they're great.
- 1:26:53They are. Great people.
- 1:26:53I know they're hurt folks personally.
- 1:26:55And I, and this is, this is a image, I don't know if you guys
- 1:26:58going to get more sponsors or whatever, but like I have a hard
- 1:27:01rule. I don't do advertising if I
- 1:27:04don't believe in the products or the people are bad people like
- 1:27:08I, and I've turned down like good money.
- 1:27:11Interesting. Yeah, if I'm selling.
- 1:27:12We share those sentences, No, If I'm, I think right now we're not
- 1:27:14a position, no. It's the same thing.
- 1:27:16If you, if somebody's paying, you know, I'm asking how much if
- 1:27:19you're, what is your mission? I care about my audience and
- 1:27:22like I'm not going to sell a product or service that I think
- 1:27:25is bad or or sell it with people I say like wheels, at least
- 1:27:29they're really good to deal with.
- 1:27:30I'm not going to sell another car and there's a lot of good
- 1:27:32car leasing places out there, but I wouldn't sell a car
- 1:27:34leasing place that's giving me money that they're just terrible
- 1:27:37to deal with like that. It doesn't do good for my name
- 1:27:39I. Think you're making a mistake?
- 1:27:40Yeah, maybe. I think you need to rethink
- 1:27:42this. Sorry, but I agree with you.
- 1:27:43And you happen to have liked Twillery.
- 1:27:45We had you. You loved Twillery, right?
- 1:27:47So it's something that you enjoyed?
- 1:27:48Twillery product before before I even knew this yes, I didn't
- 1:27:51even know they were a Jewish based company.
- 1:27:53I know, I just saw them on We Were.
- 1:27:54We were on quotient. Bodies like we were the.
- 1:27:56First like Jewish like, like entering the market, yeah, for
- 1:28:00them and. They're doing a great job.
- 1:28:02They're actual in our we're not doing this, OK.
- 1:28:04Absolutely that. They gotta pay you guys more
- 1:28:07you. Don't understand.
- 1:28:07I'm like plugging them because I genuinely like them.
- 1:28:09I'm like torn. It's like a real problem.
- 1:28:11It's like you. Should keep this in and you
- 1:28:14should reach out to them and be like by the way, we got.
- 1:28:17Well, Ellie, Malik and I have an understanding we're doing this
- 1:28:19for, for a little while and we'll see how it goes.
- 1:28:21And I, I have a real good feeling that it's going to blow
- 1:28:23up in terms of our listeners at least.
- 1:28:26Sure, Oshi, we need to come up with a word.
- 1:28:28Word for the code for our promo code.
- 1:28:30Listeners to Go as a promo code, is this for me?
- 1:28:32They're going to get a discount, yes, and you'll get one in the
- 1:28:35mail, too. And you know, we'd love to have
- 1:28:37a selfie with that. What would that word be?
- 1:28:40We need one word that defines for our customers, for our
- 1:28:43listeners. You know, so they can track our
- 1:28:44customers. Going to be annoyed but like we
- 1:28:46always do. It's not a word that you can
- 1:28:48remember. It's easy and not easy to write,
- 1:28:50you know? So we got to come up with a word
- 1:28:51I don't know. All right?
- 1:28:52Not for you. OK.
- 1:28:53Ask your marketing team what day.
- 1:28:55What sign are you? Oh, sign.
- 1:28:57Yeah. Yeah, I'm actually having in
- 1:28:59October the person who does. Who are you talking about?
- 1:29:02The guy with the book I'm having him on.
- 1:29:04Who's this? I forgot his name.
- 1:29:09Yeah, something like that. He's came out.
- 1:29:10He came out with a book recently about astrology.
- 1:29:14I happen to be very into astrology, not from like the non
- 1:29:18Jewish world, like from the from kite world of like Hashem
- 1:29:21bringing avrim out out of astrology and showing that you
- 1:29:24didn't are above astrology, whatever.
- 1:29:27I'm into that kind of stuff. So I'm personally very excited
- 1:29:30for the episode. But I think you guys will like
- 1:29:32this. I don't know if the listeners
- 1:29:33like this. In July I was working on my
- 1:29:35touch about film. I recorded enough episodes to
- 1:29:39last me through Suckas through October.
- 1:29:43Good for you. Isn't that crazy?
- 1:29:44That's so. That's smart.
- 1:29:46What a luxury. You guys could do it.
- 1:29:48No, we're so we're struggling. We're always like a week or two
- 1:29:51behind. How?
- 1:29:52Often do you put out. It's terrible.
- 1:29:54We put out every. Week.
- 1:29:54Every week. Yeah, that's hard.
- 1:29:56Yeah, it's very difficult, especially I.
- 1:29:57Do. But I've been doing it for five
- 1:29:58years, so it's gotten easier. Our full time job is legit a
- 1:30:01real full time job. It's it's difficult meaning.
- 1:30:04No. No, no.
- 1:30:04What I mean? No, no.
- 1:30:06No, no, we really, really do this full time.
- 1:30:09I mean like this is pretty much. How often do you record Do a
- 1:30:12quarter? Once a week.
- 1:30:12Once, once or maybe twice a week.
- 1:30:14Like, we're gonna try to do 2 this week and you know, yeah,
- 1:30:17but. I had that something like this
- 1:30:18week and last week I. Also, Michael is a avid
- 1:30:22traveler. Oh yeah, he likes to be every.
- 1:30:24Travel a lot for business. Office business personal and I
- 1:30:27love Israel I'm I'm. Right.
- 1:30:29You don't know where he is at any given time.
- 1:30:31That makes it hard. So we have to also fit it around
- 1:30:33that schedule. Right.
- 1:30:34And then you have to fit around the So what I do, and this is
- 1:30:36advice, but for anyone who listening won't start a podcast.
- 1:30:40I also like, let's say I have someone and they live in Israel
- 1:30:44and I could do it through Zoom, but let's say I want to do it in
- 1:30:47person. I tell them, I say I don't know
- 1:30:49that are you coming to America in the next year?
- 1:30:51Yeah. OK.
- 1:30:52So in I have things booked for November, December, January, and
- 1:30:56that's OK. But if you do that enough, then
- 1:30:59your bookings will like start to catch up and you'll start to
- 1:31:02have it once a week. I don't know.
- 1:31:04That's a good idea. Prep it in advance so that the
- 1:31:06schedule. It's not, it's not bad when
- 1:31:07someone says, oh, they're not available now or this.
- 1:31:10OK, great. Like for me, like what I did,
- 1:31:12like I told you guys, I'm going to be upstate in the summer and
- 1:31:14I'll be near Muncie. So let's let's wait, you know?
- 1:31:17You upstate for the summer? I'm upstate, yeah.
- 1:31:19Oh, nice. Yeah, very nice.
- 1:31:20So here's the time where you give us critique.
- 1:31:23This is the time where, as an experienced podcaster doing this
- 1:31:26for a long time, a highly successful one.
- 1:31:28Now that you've gotten a little taste of the two of us, what are
- 1:31:31the good, the bad? The ugly OK, I'm going to give
- 1:31:33one critique that you guys aren't going to like and we kind
- 1:31:35of like was talking about it before.
- 1:31:37I really don't like it. The name of your podcast, I
- 1:31:40think is I. It's very cute, but for what
- 1:31:43you're morphed into, I don't think it's it's doing you any
- 1:31:47good. OK, alternate suggestions What?
- 1:31:50Like what type of a suggestion would you?
- 1:31:52I don't know that I don't know. I like what she's question if
- 1:31:56you had to come up with a name like.
- 1:31:58You wrote some try like I the way I would do it is think of
- 1:32:02the word growth and then go to ChatGPT and then like kind of
- 1:32:05explain it and kind of have a conversation with ChatGPT.
- 1:32:08How about kosher? Funny, no?
- 1:32:11No, I'm vetoing that immediately.
- 1:32:13And also, Steph, you can get more suggestions for the next 15
- 1:32:16minutes like we're losing subscribers as we speak.
- 1:32:18OK. So that was 1 critique, yes?
- 1:32:21Because I I I think you you will attract more if it feels more in
- 1:32:25vibe of it. What do you think the vibe is of
- 1:32:28our podcast? I think it's very loose getting
- 1:32:32to the bottom of things. It's diverse.
- 1:32:35Very, very diverse. More diverse than mine.
- 1:32:42I think I gave enough explanations.
- 1:32:44I don't know if you knew. OK, great.
- 1:32:45No, we're. Listening like our eyes are
- 1:32:47popping out. I think I think you're very
- 1:32:48diverse to get to the bottom of things.
- 1:32:49It's also again, I, I just know my my episode.
- 1:32:52It's, it was fun, but there was, there was like purpose to it,
- 1:32:55like, I don't know, it's like a nice mixture, yeah.
- 1:32:59Listen my take away from you and from this podcast and the
- 1:33:02growth. And by the way, that's the only
- 1:33:03reason why he asked you is because he wanted his turn to
- 1:33:05tell you. No, I'm not at all.
- 1:33:08He's saying where this podcast is going like, you know, growth
- 1:33:11is basically the word that he chose that he just make a play
- 1:33:15on the word growth and figure out, you know, a fancy name for
- 1:33:18it or create, I thought. You were going to give him
- 1:33:20critique? What I'm saying is the growth
- 1:33:21that I'm getting out of this podcast is somebody in your
- 1:33:26stature, somebody in your position.
- 1:33:28You can do a lot of things with what you have going on right
- 1:33:30now. You could find a lot of ways to
- 1:33:31monetize. You don't need to be a
- 1:33:33businessman. I know you said earlier, I'm not
- 1:33:34a businessman. I let my brother to finances.
- 1:33:36Once you have a million plus followers, the world is open to
- 1:33:40you. There's a lot of choices, and
- 1:33:41what I'm seeing is that you're choosing to do more positivity
- 1:33:44with it, things that are beneficial to people in our
- 1:33:46community for the Jewish nation. Wow, wow.
- 1:33:50Good for you. It's selfish by the way.
- 1:33:51I enjoy it. I I by product is people are
- 1:33:55gaining from it, but like I like it.
- 1:33:56That's not selfish. It's fine.
- 1:33:58It's it's. I think it is, but it's not a
- 1:33:59bad thing to be selfish. About, you know, we could say it
- 1:34:02that way, but that's what I'm, that's my growth.
- 1:34:04I'm learning from you is when you have something you know with
- 1:34:07great power comes great responsibility.
- 1:34:10Uncle Ben and Spider Man. Yeah, Mr. Spider Man himself.
- 1:34:12Yeah. It was Uncle Ben, actually.
- 1:34:14Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:34:14His brother, his uncle said that.
- 1:34:15Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:34:15Yes. Yes.
- 1:34:16See Superheroes. Very good buddy, he knows his.
- 1:34:18I like superheroes. Yeah, Who's your favorite
- 1:34:20superhero? Probably Batman.
- 1:34:22Oh, it's got to be Batman. How could it not be?
- 1:34:24Bad. I like spider man also.
- 1:34:26Spider Man's a little lame, though.
- 1:34:28He's nerdy. Yeah, his suit's way too tight.
- 1:34:30His suit is very tight. All the suits are too tight.
- 1:34:33Yeah, but no. But Batman is is the he's not a
- 1:34:35real superhero with real powers yet he gets it done right.
- 1:34:39So he's. Like he's also like, I don't
- 1:34:41know how it works, a millionaire billionaire.
- 1:34:43You know, he's a Philan orphan, though.
- 1:34:44He's. A vigilante Yeah, You know, he's
- 1:34:46he's a lot of things he's very cool Batman was always my
- 1:34:49favorite He's always my favorite yeah.
- 1:34:51And I think the The Dark Knight movie, The first one was one of
- 1:34:54the best my. Favorite superhero?
- 1:34:55Film. One of the greatest movies.
- 1:34:57I think it was an excellent movie.
- 1:34:59Christopher Nolan, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:35:01So movie buff. I like it.
- 1:35:03Superheroes. I like superheroes.
- 1:35:04OK, see things like this. You can't talk about this stuff
- 1:35:06on your part, no. Way we just did.
- 1:35:08No way people. I would like people to have.
- 1:35:10Vodkas and I can't talk about this because I have other likes.
- 1:35:13I'm not just going to shul every day, I hear, which I don't do.
- 1:35:16Which, by the way, on your podcast, it could fit, but for
- 1:35:18mine, it's like, it's Elaine, right?
- 1:35:20I always say like if, if, if for whatever reason, Kim Kardashian
- 1:35:24wanted to be on inspiration for the nation and she's done some
- 1:35:27big stuff in her life. You're.
- 1:35:28Not saying no to that. I am 100% saying no.
- 1:35:31I'm not letting you. Dude, I'm we're walking.
- 1:35:33Around with a protesting sign in front of you.
- 1:35:35No, I'm telling you. Free.
- 1:35:37Free Kim Kardashian. No, I'm just let.
- 1:35:40Kim Kardashian, come on to the poor.
- 1:35:42Audience. It doesn't.
- 1:35:43Just about you, Yakov. It's about no.
- 1:35:45It's not about me. I I personally would do it.
- 1:35:48Why not? It's but my I'm listening.
- 1:35:50To my audience. My audience would would, would
- 1:35:52they? They would never listen again.
- 1:35:54They would understand. But she know they would your.
- 1:35:55Audience would they? Would now he said the same thing
- 1:35:57to us. Remember, you can get any guest
- 1:36:00you want. I can't.
- 1:36:01Well, not coming on, so I'm not, I don't.
- 1:36:04Think you could get anyone you want either.
- 1:36:06You just don't know your audience yet.
- 1:36:08That's what I think. Like there is Elaine, and I know
- 1:36:11you don't want to be in Elaine, but you have to.
- 1:36:13You have to. I'm a free bird.
- 1:36:15I cannot You're. Fine, you could, but you'll turn
- 1:36:18into my friend Yitzy Ingber who had a law podcast and then it
- 1:36:22became like improv and comedy podcast and he every day is
- 1:36:26like, tell him he's like, how do I grow?
- 1:36:27I'm like, I will tell you, I will help you become the biggest
- 1:36:30law podcast. I, I, I know enough at this
- 1:36:32point to help you do it. And he just didn't listen to me
- 1:36:34because he didn't want to stay in his lane.
- 1:36:36And that's fine. And if you don't want to stay in
- 1:36:37your lane, that's fine. But if you want to get 30,000
- 1:36:40people listening every week. Do I though?
- 1:36:43If you do. What's the what he wants that?
- 1:36:45I know he wants that, but what what's what is?
- 1:36:47I just want growth. What is it going to do if it's a
- 1:36:50million people that are subscribed and are actively
- 1:36:53listening? I don't know.
- 1:36:54And I'm not having a good time and I'm not enjoying you're.
- 1:36:57Right if you're if. You're not going to.
- 1:36:58I'm not going to appreciate it. I understand that if you're
- 1:37:00saying I just want to have a good time and you don't
- 1:37:03necessarily care about the growth, then 100% like you got
- 1:37:06to choose the guests you want. But you both have different
- 1:37:08goals and that could get complicated.
- 1:37:10It's a little dicey, right? It's OK, but I think you guys
- 1:37:13are having fun doing it the way you're doing.
- 1:37:15It now I love Michael, I love Michael and I hate Michael at
- 1:37:17the same time we we have those that's.
- 1:37:19Healthy. You guys respect each other a
- 1:37:21lot, which is which is amazing to see.
- 1:37:23It's very nice. See, I'm sure in businesses like
- 1:37:25that and I could see it on the podcast.
- 1:37:27I had a party yesterday for a friend of mine.
- 1:37:30It was his 40th birthday. Happy birthday.
- 1:37:32And it was amazing. And we celebrate it in a very,
- 1:37:34very big way. And Michael doesn't know the
- 1:37:37birthday boy as well as I do. He knows him a little bit.
- 1:37:40But he was there because we did it at his house.
- 1:37:43So, you know, he hosted it nice. And he was the life of the
- 1:37:47party. And he always is.
- 1:37:48And I always tell him, I said it's not the same when when
- 1:37:51you're not there. Like I really appreciate that
- 1:37:54and brother Michael, thank you. Are you know if I officially
- 1:37:56told you? Yeah, This is why we're doing
- 1:37:57this right here to. Hosting it, are you?
- 1:37:59I'm sitting are you guys like aside for business?
- 1:38:01Are you like best friends in real life or no?
- 1:38:03No, no, no. We were introduced to each other
- 1:38:05through business, but one of his closest friends is a partner in
- 1:38:08our business. God is.
- 1:38:09That we have a mutual very close friend is.
- 1:38:11Was he ever on this? Podcast, we're very close type.
- 1:38:14We're not the type, not the type.
- 1:38:15I want to be clear, we're very close friends.
- 1:38:17Michael and I got, I got it. We're a little bit different
- 1:38:18age. Also.
- 1:38:19Yes, he has his circle of hands. Could I ask?
- 1:38:21You how old each of you are? I mean, you're clearly older.
- 1:38:24Yeah, I'm 46. I'm 38.
- 1:38:26Got it. OK, Yeah.
- 1:38:27Yeah, I mean my older, my oldest kid is in his height, I mean in
- 1:38:32his mid 20s. My oldest is 8 years old.
- 1:38:34Right. It's a different world.
- 1:38:36Different. Yeah, yeah, different,
- 1:38:37different. I think after 30 doesn't really
- 1:38:39matter how old each person is 100% we're all pretty much in
- 1:38:42the same place at that point. And we are, I am going to
- 1:38:44question about where are you from originally and where are
- 1:38:46you from originally? Yes, I'm from Muncie.
- 1:38:49You're from Muncie? Born and bred.
- 1:38:50Born in bred. I'm a Muncie snob.
- 1:38:52I like it. Spies everywhere else.
- 1:38:54I think Muncie's the only place. Where's your wife from?
- 1:38:56Brooklyn, Brooklyn. And she actually moved to
- 1:38:59Muncie. And she loves when I got.
- 1:39:00Married and she hated it in the beginning.
- 1:39:01Of course. And now she loves it.
- 1:39:03Now she goes back to Brooklyn. She's like, I don't know how it.
- 1:39:05Yeah. What was wrong with me?
- 1:39:06Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, I would.
- 1:39:07You could. You could go from Brooklyn to
- 1:39:08Muncie. You can't go from Muncie to
- 1:39:10Brooklyn. Nope.
- 1:39:10And some people I've met and like, they do it 'cause like
- 1:39:12their wife is the the reverse and the relationship and like,
- 1:39:15yeah, it's crazy. OK, I bet you were from
- 1:39:17Brooklyn, where I. Grew up in my teenage life in
- 1:39:20Israel Ocean Parkway and Avenue I that area.
- 1:39:22OK, cool. And I miss Brooklyn.
- 1:39:24Yeah, I miss Brooklyn in ways. In many ways I I I don't know if
- 1:39:27I would want to live there. Natanya Pizza.
- 1:39:29Yeah, the best. My hangout.
- 1:39:31Someone is supposed to call me the owner.
- 1:39:33He's still alive, Barack Hashem, his wife died.
- 1:39:35But I'm supposed to have like a FaceTime with him.
- 1:39:37What? About amnons.
- 1:39:38I liked it, but for me, Natanya was like the place again.
- 1:39:41I was very young. You can interview Natanya.
- 1:39:43I'll interview amnons. Let's.
- 1:39:44See how it goes. Yeah, yeah, no, these.
- 1:39:46Oh my gosh, yeah. I I again, it wouldn't fit for
- 1:39:48inspiration, but like, he is someone.
- 1:39:50Yeah, yeah. I would love to interview him.
- 1:39:51I would love to interview him. I don't know how to get it out
- 1:39:53there. Go absolute.
- 1:39:56Go. Then you have to get like Dave
- 1:39:57Portnoy to come on. Dave Portnoy.
- 1:39:59Dave Portnoy. See, he's in another example.
- 1:40:01He's like in the Casey Neisat field of like, amazing.
- 1:40:04I'd love to meet him. I'd love to.
- 1:40:06And he's very proud. YID Yeah, but it just wouldn't
- 1:40:08fit for my thing. But he'd fit for your show.
- 1:40:11Can you help us get him? I have nothing to do with him.
- 1:40:13Well, if you reach out though, it means something and and maybe
- 1:40:16you can, you know, use us as part of your network.
- 1:40:18You know, people like him, I think are both him and the
- 1:40:21Casey. Once they're like the push,
- 1:40:22push, push, and then they make so much money and they kind of
- 1:40:25like I. Got to tell you something crazy.
- 1:40:27It's so hard to get them. Just a few days ago, I video
- 1:40:30called Kevin O'Leary out of the blue and a friend of mine had
- 1:40:34his number and he's like just video call him.
- 1:40:36I'm going to do a LinkedIn post about it because I think it's
- 1:40:38just the it's like, you know what?
- 1:40:39I saw the the video, the photo of it, you know, one of those
- 1:40:41like evidence, you know, he was on FaceTime with Kevin Oliver.
- 1:40:44Moral dilemmas like you know, do you video call Someone Like You
- 1:40:46know, do you hate it or? Not Kevin O'Leary picking up a
- 1:40:49random. Face, that's a great that's a
- 1:40:51great point and I think that you know, he wasn't the only one
- 1:40:53that picked. Up.
- 1:40:53I know why he is by the way, I think all these celebrities or
- 1:40:56people like that, they don't they don't they're not like us,
- 1:40:59like you have your number for life.
- 1:41:00They again, I don't know if he's that level, but they very often
- 1:41:03get new numbers because people find it and this so they're used
- 1:41:06to getting. Or who am I?
- 1:41:08Yeah, and he's waiting for a call from the guy from New York.
- 1:41:11And then you have. New York zip code, right?
- 1:41:13And boom, it was a fun conversation.
- 1:41:14Really, it lasted exactly 90. 5 Kevin O Larry is AB plus
- 1:41:18celebrity. Yeah, I think it's at least AB
- 1:41:20Plus. It's pretty freaking cool that
- 1:41:22you got him. Yeah, only.
- 1:41:23The faceline. Get him on here.
- 1:41:25Did you ask him or no? Why he was trying to ask him.
- 1:41:27That's what I call Nancy. I said, Kevin, I spoke to Nancy.
- 1:41:30She's not responding, you know, and it was funny because he's
- 1:41:33like, OK, I got to go, I got to go, you know, whatever.
- 1:41:35But it was it was cute to have that concept that they'll pick
- 1:41:38up their video call and video calling someone is kind of
- 1:41:41Hutzpitek in a way. But that's kind of like what we
- 1:41:43did to you earlier or like what we do to our guests, like call
- 1:41:47right now someone that you think would be great.
- 1:41:49And you know what Dusty Green told us?
- 1:41:50Yeah, what he said. He said if I wouldn't have
- 1:41:52gotten video called from Garishi, I would never have come
- 1:41:55on your podcast. He said continue doing that.
- 1:41:57Hold on, did did he come here or did you get him?
- 1:41:59Because I've been trying to get him for a few years now.
- 1:42:02Yeah, and I'll get him eventually.
- 1:42:03I'm no rush, but he's giving me such a hard time about like you
- 1:42:06have to come to me. I'm like I could, but like you
- 1:42:09live. In also known him personally.
- 1:42:10Not so far. So special.
- 1:42:13He came up to our podcast and he told him no.
- 1:42:15No, no, he didn't say no, no, no, he's just scheduling.
- 1:42:18He's, he's a, he's a busy guy. I don't know.
- 1:42:21There's a lot of people you had on that I I didn't have on.
- 1:42:23That you tried to get. Probably I don't want to say yes
- 1:42:27without like, but I I looked through your list, yeah.
- 1:42:30Interesting. It's not easy.
- 1:42:32He does all the guests to listen to.
- 1:42:34Yeah, it's not easy. It's a chase you have to chase.
- 1:42:36There's a book that my brother is.
- 1:42:38That Mandy Wash Mandy Wash was me because Mandy Wash is my
- 1:42:41friend. You bring in one person I love
- 1:42:42and he brings in the 50 is. Inspirational enough to go on.
- 1:42:45Inspiration for the nation. I don't know enough about him.
- 1:42:48OK, but what's the type of music?
- 1:42:49What's your metrics like go to like you gotta have this or this
- 1:42:52like at this point, like what is this?
- 1:42:54At this point, Yoni Schwartz is in charge of who we get as
- 1:42:57guests because I just get too bombarded and he's so much
- 1:43:02better at picking guests than I am.
- 1:43:05But that being said, if there's a story that personally moves me
- 1:43:09or someone, like there's this girl from Camp Simpler, whole
- 1:43:13body was burnt. Like, I saw her and I saw her
- 1:43:15speaking. I'm like, Oh my gosh.
- 1:43:16And I reached out to my friends at Simpler.
- 1:43:18I'm like, I would love to have her.
- 1:43:19I saw that video. Yeah.
- 1:43:21So and it moved me. Exactly so so like when when
- 1:43:24that kind of thing happened? You're getting her on.
- 1:43:26Working on it. But she's young but.
- 1:43:27She's 11 years old. Yeah, is.
- 1:43:29That gonna be the youngest person you've ever had.
- 1:43:31I've had babies on, but like the youngest person like that I had
- 1:43:35I, I, I did have other campers from simple that were very
- 1:43:38young. So I think even younger, but
- 1:43:40it's it's in that realm of very, very.
- 1:43:41Yeah, I would love to hear that story.
- 1:43:42That's that's a great. There you go.
- 1:43:44I can't believe it. Like literally within the week
- 1:43:47last week. Yeah, somewhere I saw the clip
- 1:43:49and he, they bought her one stage and I was like, my heart
- 1:43:53melted. Never could scroll 80% of her
- 1:43:55body. Someone got burned.
- 1:43:56And it's like, and it makes me appreciate Camp Simcha.
- 1:43:59Like what they yeah, Oh my gosh. They might be the best
- 1:44:02organization in the history of organizations, right?
- 1:44:04And that's saying a lot 'cause we have we got all this.
- 1:44:07There's a lot. There's a.
- 1:44:07Lot. We got amazing ones.
- 1:44:09Amazing. Or inspiring ones.
- 1:44:11But Camp Simcha just has to take the cake.
- 1:44:13What they do and you know, beautiful good fees.
- 1:44:16Are you going to have her on? Are you going to give her some
- 1:44:18ear to? Try.
- 1:44:18She lives in LA though, so it's a little complication.
- 1:44:20What it really looks like, you know, let them really see what
- 1:44:22it looks like. What?
- 1:44:23You were saying earlier about a book.
- 1:44:24You were about to say something. Oh yeah.
- 1:44:25So my brother introduced me a book called The Third Door.
- 1:44:27You don't have to read the book. So I'm going to tell you exactly
- 1:44:29what it says in there. It basically says if you're
- 1:44:30trying to get into a nightclub, there's the front door, Classic,
- 1:44:34everyone's online. Then there's the VIP.
- 1:44:36If you're wealthy or you're famous or you know, the per,
- 1:44:40then there's a third door. It's in the back alley.
- 1:44:43It's, it's where they throw out the garbage.
- 1:44:45There's always the third door. And this guy wrote a book called
- 1:44:48The Third Door. And it's how we basically think
- 1:44:51of the biggest people in the world, the biggest, the biggest,
- 1:44:54the, the Pope and the Dalai Lama and Steve Jobs and, and all
- 1:44:59those people he interviews all of them.
- 1:45:00And he's like, I'm a regular guy.
- 1:45:02He's like, there's always a third door.
- 1:45:04So with Kevin O'Leary, there's a third door, you know, I don't
- 1:45:08think it's Facetiming him. It's probably through Nancy or
- 1:45:10someone who knows him when you know.
- 1:45:12But the and I found that with all people I try to interview.
- 1:45:15And he gives you like like tips and tricks of how to kind of
- 1:45:18third door model. He goes through what he's gone
- 1:45:21through, so you kind of do pick up stuff, but it's the mentality
- 1:45:24of like, there's always a certain way in.
- 1:45:27There's always a way in. And there's people I've been
- 1:45:29working on for for years now. I just had someone that I've
- 1:45:33been working on for five years. Hold on, let me.
- 1:45:36Let me well. You have people for five years.
- 1:45:38Five years since 2019, I've been trying to get up someone.
- 1:45:41Of course when people die and like I didn't get them, who did
- 1:45:45I try having on? Five years.
- 1:45:48Old ribiol gold. I don't know what I said now.
- 1:45:54You'll hear it a second. OK.
- 1:45:56Who's your old goal too? Is she?
- 1:45:57Who's my brother-in-law? He's your brother-in-law.
- 1:45:59He is. OK.
- 1:46:00Yeah, you would have been my third door.
- 1:46:02Yeah. Or not.
- 1:46:03By the way, the third door model is coming out like in real time.
- 1:46:06There we go. Because that's how you network
- 1:46:08I. Don't know if you'd be the real
- 1:46:09third door. Are you are?
- 1:46:10You someone, are you? Real third door no or not?
- 1:46:12You get him your old. I got someone.
- 1:46:14Oh, you got it. Oh, you just had him on.
- 1:46:16Yeah, I just had him on over 50,000 years.
- 1:46:18Very well. And I texted him and probably
- 1:46:20angry that he didn't come on, I said you went on somebody else's
- 1:46:23spot. I need that third door.
- 1:46:25Oh, I need that. That should be your girlfriend.
- 1:46:29He promised me he's coming on OK, He lives in.
- 1:46:31California he lives in. California.
- 1:46:32He's not here. Very he.
- 1:46:33I didn't it was through Zoom. We did through Zoom he.
- 1:46:35Wanted No, no, no. I'm.
- 1:46:36Like I'm like, please fly in. He's like you please fly in.
- 1:46:38And we did through Zoom. No, no 'cause he wanted to
- 1:46:40promote his thing. Gonna.
- 1:46:41Have him on the press. He has an incredible story by
- 1:46:43the. Incredible story.
- 1:46:44He is a very inspirational, yeah.
- 1:46:45We did more the angle of the tish about film, so his story.
- 1:46:48Part of, by the way, I thought was epic.
- 1:46:50He's great. I thought that Tish About film
- 1:46:52took like it was one of the best Tish About films anyone's ever
- 1:46:54released. It's amazing.
- 1:46:56Made me be proud to be a Jew. He's great.
- 1:46:58He's I, I believe in him. He's, he's, he's Erla.
- 1:47:01He's so good. I, I, I think he's awesome.
- 1:47:03And I think what he's done for the film Jewish World is
- 1:47:08unbelievable. I think I know like Hubs Time
- 1:47:10Heritage Foundation was doing it before him.
- 1:47:12No one did it the way he did. And I think he's still the Tish
- 1:47:15above goat. Yeah.
- 1:47:16Great speaker. That being said, I was trying
- 1:47:19since 2019 to get him and he had every excuse of yeah, I want to
- 1:47:25do that. He never did it.
- 1:47:26And finally the like a year ago, he's like, I will finally do it
- 1:47:31and I was honored and I still am honored and it's great episode.
- 1:47:35Anyone could go listen to it and kind of get a little more behind
- 1:47:38the scenes. Even if you watch the film, he
- 1:47:40says a lot of things on there that we didn't speak about on
- 1:47:42the film. He's probably one of the more
- 1:47:44talented people. He married your sister or you
- 1:47:47married his? Sister.
- 1:47:48You married his. Oh, that was the other way?
- 1:47:50Yeah. You married his sister.
- 1:47:51Yeah, the youngest. Well done.
- 1:47:53Could we break things down? You married his sister.
- 1:47:55So his sister's Khasidis officially.
- 1:47:57No, no, she didn't grow up. She didn't grow up in that way.
- 1:47:59That was after. Yeah, it was my my wife was 3 or
- 1:48:044 years old. Got it when her parents got
- 1:48:05divorced. Got it.
- 1:48:06OK. So you married a gold?
- 1:48:07Yes, yes, yes, yes, exactly. I'm a big fan of his.
- 1:48:12I know. I thought why it's so funny that
- 1:48:13you're like, I thought maybe something bad.
- 1:48:15I'm like, Oh no, like we. Talked about this this is like
- 1:48:17that's the inside thing that's hilarious.
- 1:48:19It is so funny that you said that I.
- 1:48:21But I kid you not, I've been trying.
- 1:48:22It was six years. I've been trying to get him for
- 1:48:24so long. Wow.
- 1:48:25And there's other people I've still been.
- 1:48:26I'm not gonna give. Up.
- 1:48:27Maybe we could be your third door.
- 1:48:28What else you're trying? To tell us the next thing.
- 1:48:29Who's the next person you're chasing after?
- 1:48:31Is it my uncle that you're going after?
- 1:48:33Who's next? Maybe it's my brother-in-law.
- 1:48:34I don't. Know of the time I had?
- 1:48:36I don't know, I don't know if the in my head, okay, like I
- 1:48:39literally had a look at like my recent podcasts.
- 1:48:41I remembered. I don't know, they were trying
- 1:48:43for so many. That's one request from you
- 1:48:45yeah, okay. When you decline Kim Kardashian,
- 1:48:48yes sender, yeah yeah, please leave that there.
- 1:48:51Here you you have. Her guys, that's a rap.
- 1:48:56OK, what an amazing episode. Thank you everyone for.
- 1:48:59Everyone wasn't too meta. Oh, were you still doing it?
- 1:49:01No. No, no, yeah, I was just saying
- 1:49:02thank. You it's not too like, 'cause
- 1:49:03we're getting it like you guys care about podcasts and stuff.
- 1:49:06Like I don't know if people listening care about the
- 1:49:08insurance and outs. OK, what?
- 1:49:09This is this is what we what what happened here is what we
- 1:49:11do. I just want to be in the top 60
- 1:49:13listened on here so. When we get to, it's got to be
- 1:49:16100. You'll be one of the top 100.
- 1:49:18I guess that. We just bumped into somebody a
- 1:49:19few days ago. He was a guest like 30 episodes
- 1:49:22ago and he made a comment to us. He says, you know, I'm noticing
- 1:49:25that ever since Maya episode, you got a bunch of ones have
- 1:49:28much more views than mine. He was like offended or
- 1:49:30something, like what did I do wrong?
- 1:49:32I said no, no, no. We're just we're getting more
- 1:49:33popular with the new Rapids. Yeah.
- 1:49:35Yeah, yeah. Don't take it through
- 1:49:36reflections. It grows.
- 1:49:37It grows with time. Yeah, it it does.
- 1:49:39It grows with time. Exactly.
- 1:49:40It makes sense. Speaking of which, thank you
- 1:49:42everyone for joining and growing with us and subscribing and
- 1:49:45commenting and getting involved. Thank you to the Prime Source
- 1:49:47production team, Steph, Will and all the crew, and of course to
- 1:49:51our new sponsor. Twillery.
- 1:49:53Twillery. Twillery, Twillery.
- 1:49:56Twillery. There, that's a rap.
