- 0:00I nearly went a full year without buying a new phone welcome to multiple
- 0:06nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and
- 0:10Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All
- 0:16Things nerdy oh yeah so annoying now Luke
- 0:22you're one of the few people that only buys a phone when they actually need a
- 0:25phone not just because a new and better phone has come or when they accidentally
- 0:28click the PayPal button if you recall that happened once you didn't know that
- 0:32buy with PayPal meant buy with PayPal I accidentally brought my pixel 4
- 0:37and then I brought a pixel 5 and I had when the pixel 6 came out I had to buy a
- 0:44lot sooner than I would normally because I couldn't use a pixel 5 it was just too
- 0:49small so then I got the pixel 6 Pro quite happy with it doing fine would
- 0:54have last me another year or two MH except I went out to Hannah got a flat
- 0:59battery I went out to change it and I dropped my phone and it just cracked the
- 1:03screen and just made it not workable screens now when they break they don't
- 1:08it's not like when they used to break remember the iPhones where they would
- 1:12shatter and they still usable now they break and they're just n just not
- 1:16working so I had to go buy a pixel 7 you had to well I was I just went I was going to
- 1:23just get replaced it with just a pixel 6 Pro just get exactly the same phone but
- 1:27for an extra $50 I get the seven
- 1:30well so I spent the extra $50 I've I've uh only ever had one non iPhone which
- 1:37was the pixel 4 uh it was fine but I my very next phone was back to iPhone how
- 1:43are the pixels these days up up to version s d it's exactly the same I yeah
- 1:50I I'm not at all interested in phones these days I used every time there was a
- 1:54new phone it used to do something that the old phones didn't do and I would get
- 1:58excited about it that has stopped now that well and they don't do anything
- 2:01different anymore they might have a better camera this the I have the what's
- 2:06the new the 14 pro Max and it does do one thing that is impressive but is
- 2:12unsurprisingly not used very often by me and that is the action camera mode where
- 2:16it you can run around or ride a motorbike or whatever and it'll do a
- 2:19steady shot that doesn't come up so often like it's I like KN that it's in
- 2:24there but yeah it doesn't come up that often MH yeah yeah so this phone's going
- 2:29to last me two or three yeah that's my plan with this one yeah
- 2:32dies well I've had the 13 since the 13 was brand new and I have absolutely no
- 2:37interest in replacing it and certainly no interest in paying $1,000 for a new
- 2:41phone yeah my plan is for all this stuff like I bought this computer that's
- 2:44supposed to last me at least three years I bought this phone supposed to last me
- 2:48at least two three years hopefully my iPad's up because it's I've had this
- 2:54this is a 2018 iPad Pro 11 in except when I look at the the new one
- 3:00they don't do anything else like I watch videos on this and I check my email and
- 3:04I do some other stuff I you could I potentially just keep using this forever
- 3:10in theory so oh you really could you really could so they're gonna have to
- 3:13come up with something um how long is your PS5 plan to last uh my PS5 will
- 3:19last me uh hopefully quite a long time cuz I don't buy PlayStation very often
- 3:23yeah last PlayStation I bought was a PS3 and when I say bought I meant traded a
- 3:28case of beer for to our friend Carl yes yeah yeah but I did buy a PS5 the other
- 3:34day have you played it yeah yeah God of War that war no not not yet I just
- 3:41wanted to see I wanted to see Spider-Man and I knew I knew Spider-Man was going
- 3:46to be it I knew it man it's [ __ ] of all the PlayStation exclusives could you
- 3:51not play that on your Nvidia passy no I don't think so Spider-Man is that on
- 3:55PC I'd check out Che out if I were you Sor right it's too
- 4:01late um oh okay yeah no it's beautiful and the only literally the biggest thing
- 4:07issue that I have with with it and anything else that I tried is the
- 4:10controller is completely foreign to me and in particular Spider-Man it comes up
- 4:14and it says press X and so I'm like I'm pressing X I'm pressing X like oh X is
- 4:19in a [ __ ] different spot but [ __ ] thumb knows where X is [ __ ] x x is a is
- 4:25it yeah on the PlayStation well it doesn't have a or anything like that
- 4:27it's X and triangle and square don't know any of them it's completely foreign
- 4:31to me I'm like that when I switch over to the to the switch from the Xbox you
- 4:37know even just that the your back buttons the bottom one not the right but
- 4:41why they did that so annoying well it's because they don't owe anything to
- 4:44Microsoft to keep it the same yeah but breath of the wild in particular I know
- 4:48other people complain about it too it's just the buttons are flipped to like
- 4:50every other game in the whole [ __ ] Universe CU Nintendo was like that's
- 4:55Nintendo they were like we were the first [ __ ] I'm not going to change you
- 5:00change so I haven't spent a lot of time with it but but I mean it's yeah it's
- 5:04pretty cool you know I mean I had a PS2 and it was probably the best console
- 5:09I've ever had yeah like for the time the amount of games and the quality of games
- 5:13that were on it I did sign so I got it and it came it came with God of War
- 5:16Ragnarok and I was like well i' kind of prefer to play I I want to know should I play the
- 5:22earlier games at all I looked it up and basically the consensus was not the
- 5:25earlier ones they're completely different games different genre don't
- 5:28even worry about it and I was like all right fine but the one the first ones
- 5:32are very much like hack and slash games but this one actually has like more of a
- 5:35story play kind of plus you're going to you're going to enjoy the Vikings
- 5:39setting a little bit more right yeah cuz those ones are more Greek god and why
- 5:42would you buy a PlayStation 5 PlayStation so but but the previous one
- 5:49God of War the Whatever Whenever that came out the previous Santa Monica
- 5:53Studios one I was like well maybe I'll play that and I was like okay so what
- 5:56are all the PlayStation games I want Spider-Man God of War uh last of USS the
- 6:02Uncharted games um Detroit become human I was interested in playing all these
- 6:07games bloodborne I'm interested in playing right so I made a list and I'm
- 6:10like okay there's a sale on right now let's have a look and then I see this
- 6:13PlayStation Plus thing and I'm like oh it's like Xbox game pass so I go in
- 6:17there and I'm like oh yes every single one of these games is on that list so I
- 6:22just signed up for that PlayStation great and I now have 10 games installed
- 6:27on there all I need now is time some to play so follow up next week when
- 6:33I say the same thing you've played slightly more of Spider-Man perhaps yeah
- 6:38perhaps because I have been playing Elden ring on my Xbox and I'm [ __ ]
- 6:43loving it so I don't know okay so tell us about Elder ring now look you've
- 6:47played this right did you play all the way through this elder ring God no no i'
- 6:52I've played like the first hour or so and then went I do not like this game so
- 6:57I did that too and then I I tooted on masteron it's called tooting um I
- 7:03learned and said that's even dumber than tweeting honestly I had to get used to
- 7:08the word tweeting now I've got to hear about toots no thanks so he toots oh is
- 7:13it okay masteron anyway do we have to do anything just post just post on there I
- 7:18posted on there having a winge about it and then and people replied Master on
- 7:22the the I got to say I'm enjoying it like the people I think just because the
- 7:27server one is less populated like like it's it's kind of like I get more
- 7:31engagement on masteron than I ever did on Twitter simply because I don't just
- 7:34disappear off the bottom of all these [ __ ] celebrities and everything it's
- 7:37just literally the server I on is just all tech people and it's like I actually
- 7:42people reply can only people on your server see you no no no but um but I
- 7:47mean but you're favored by the algorithm yeah well you just go to the local the
- 7:51local group is kind of where everyone kind of mostly hangs out seems like I'm
- 7:55still getting a feel but any I've gotten more rep anyway a bunch of people said
- 7:58stick with it because once it clicks it's quite it's very good and I was like
- 8:03I don't know man and so I was like fine so I played for another hour or two and
- 8:07then I was like oh it did click at some point and I am enjoying it now so I
- 8:13guess there you go that that is a thing I just don't have the time for
- 8:18it yeah it's I think the biggest issue is right and I'm used to play used to
- 8:24games that now even like like cyber Punk all those games where it's like you can
- 8:29just kind of w wander in and start hitting [ __ ] and you'll probably be fine
- 8:34like you may have to spam the H heel button a bunch of times in Elden ring
- 8:39you are [ __ ] if you do that like if you try and fight more than one anything
- 8:43at a time you're [ __ ] even if it's like a caterpillar a [ __ ] caterpillar
- 8:48will kill you if you fight two of them yeah it's not to just rushing and start
- 8:52slashing and you have to learn you need to go in with a plan learn out com each
- 8:58enemy will have different attack The Shield you can't just run in and start
- 9:01swinging your sword around you have to use the shield learn to block learn how
- 9:04to do all this stuff and then and that's as a same like even like throwing the
- 9:09difficulty down and trying to play it on easy it doesn't I didn't even know you
- 9:11could do that I don't even think you can yeah I didn't I didn't know you could if
- 9:15you if you can I didn't know oh I thought the whole point of this was
- 9:18there was no easy but there are enemies you just have to avoid them at the start
- 9:21you cannot possibly kill these people at the start right and but they're on the
- 9:25road to where you've got to go you just have to go around them and you just have
- 9:28to get used to the fact that that this is just how the game is right like it's
- 9:32an open world you can go anywhere and it'll be fine but if you see a guy who's
- 9:36like twice the size of you [ __ ] stay away from he will murder you because he
- 9:41will destroy you so yeah I mean that's my attitude when I go out to the western
- 9:45suburbs of Sydney as well it's just because I'm used to you know Skyrim or
- 9:50even when the Bethesda games were not you know like Skyrim in particular is
- 9:55very like everything's leveled so you can go anywhere and well remember the um
- 10:01the first Fallout yeah that that the Fallout 3 that was um levels played a
- 10:07big part in that and if you went to areas early you would be murdered but
- 10:12they thing like if you went into you went into a cave
- 10:18and what happened so at the beginning the game you'd go into a cave and then
- 10:21if the enemies were too strong you'd leave and come back a little bit later
- 10:24but those enemies stayed at that same level that you were when you originally
- 10:27entered so you felt like you're a lot stronger remember that yeah but no I I I I've
- 10:33tried I can't play it I just can't that too I'm just all I guess I
- 10:39don't want to I'm not going to pressure anybody I just thought I should
- 10:43mention I want you to pressure people no I just pressure Luke now Luke yeah
- 10:48you'll [ __ ] like it cuz I did eventually people told me I'd like it
- 10:52and I didn't believe them and then I did like it so oh it is the character design stuff
- 10:58is like very different I and maybe not so much if you played the other from
- 11:02software games but it's just got weird [ __ ] in it
- 11:06like no this does look a lot better than the Dark Soul I think I told you guys on
- 11:11chat I was playing and then I came across this man who was literally just a
- 11:14cauldron with arms and he was stuck in the ground and he was like oh can you
- 11:19help me out so I helped him by like bashing him until he came out of the
- 11:24ground and he was like oh thanks I'm off to the [ __ ] Coliseum to fight in the
- 11:28as a gladiator see you later and like the [ __ ] is this game like it feels very
- 11:34like you're talking me into it it it's cool like that it's you know like old
- 11:38games were just weird like that and it's like it's not going to explain why why
- 11:42is it a cauldron who knows who cares he just is a cauldron Man actually I didn't
- 11:46even make it far enough to meet cauldron man I've been playing the Xbox a little
- 11:51bit this week much more than I have for the past year uh cuz I finally found
- 11:57something that just really syned its hook in me and that's pent ah P's great
- 12:02and it did take me actually a little bit to decide that I liked it because it was
- 12:05a little bit wasn't the oddness of it it was just it didn't feel like there was
- 12:11much to do sure and in terms of actual like gaming Loop there's not a lot to do
- 12:18yeah but it's enthralling now Luke this
- 12:22is essentially a book this is more of a book than any other game I've ever
- 12:27played this is this is choose your own would have book isum which Luke also
- 12:33hates also didn't quite I didn't hate that it's a game if I had have played it
- 12:38like 10 years ago 15 years ago like when I would have loved like the original
- 12:42fallouts love those games to death now but actually this also has no voice
- 12:48acting like disco alium originally correct yeah uh but it's much
- 12:54well I was going to say it's easier to read but I suppose it's not in a way
- 12:57because it's the you got to pick the right font well I I went I went all out
- 13:02I was like just [ __ ] font me [ __ ] just come at me with whatever you got I
- 13:06like how it does that and as you learn more things about people their font
- 13:09changes this guy's actually quite smart and he becomes like more the font gets
- 13:14more scrip yeah that's right but also like when you're talking to the printer
- 13:18his oh yeah font prints in instead of subcribing it yeah yeah it's clever yeah
- 13:23it's it's really it's really very interesting um and far more interesting
- 13:28than it has any right to be considering the content of it yeah it's quite simp I
- 13:33you said lastek like why why would you care about what peasants are doing and
- 13:38their relation to the church yeah but you do though because you get to know
- 13:41them yeah and in hearing Andreas your you play as winge about his issues
- 13:48you're like yeah and then very careful not to talk to anyone about my [ __ ] and
- 13:53then even at points he's like no my problems don't seem as bad as these
- 13:57[ __ ] poor people yeah yeah mate shut up that's right I'm getting paid too
- 14:02much money to paint painting I hate my job people asking me to pay me tons and
- 14:07tons of money to paint things it sucks yeah um I did have one moment
- 14:13though and I don't I I I have a feeling maybe many people do and maybe that's
- 14:17the point and in fact I don't even know if you can correctly solve that first
- 14:22murder but when the first murder concluded I considered restarting the
- 14:28game because I thought I'd done it all wrong and it was kind of reminded me of
- 14:31the first time I played through um Mass Effect 2 and I pretty much let everyone
- 14:36on the Normandy die and um and then went back and did it again yeah but but I've
- 14:42pushed on and I've since realized that actually getting it wrong as kind of
- 14:45part of it yeah I think you're supposed to always feel like oh did I do the
- 14:50right thing like oh did I did I should I have done that kind of thing and you're
- 14:54just always supposed to feel like that yeah someone always hates you that's the game
- 15:00yes well the and the people who hate you kind of changes the story somewhat
- 15:05that's the point yeah you're right there's always there's always one or
- 15:08more people that are pissed off at you for some reason and that's what makes it
- 15:11interesting and I'm actually the first this is my first but you've did you
- 15:15complete a second place I because um I
- 15:19got to so you had said that I had the same experience with you I finished act
- 15:24one and I was like oh I don't feel like I actually explored as much as I even
- 15:28could have in the limited time you do have cuz I didn't quite understand the
- 15:31game loop at the time and I continued on anyway and then I was like I want to
- 15:35play again because I feel like particularly act one I could have done
- 15:37more and I did that the second time and I was like okay yeah um and then I got
- 15:42into act two and I think I got most of the way through act two and then I was
- 15:46like okay I did exhaustively play through this act the second time and so
- 15:51now I'm kind of feeling like I need a break sure so so I have I I will continue did
- 15:57you what just without spoiling it did a
- 16:02more exhaustive playthrough of Act One change act two dramatically or not it
- 16:09did but I was more so you basically if
- 16:14you want to know for sure or as much information as possible about a suspect
- 16:19you kind of have to commit to that suspect to get as much as info as you
- 16:22can and you're not going to learn much about the others like there's just not
- 16:25enough time to to and I'm I'm not sure you can ever be 100% certain about
- 16:30anybody like maybe maybe I'm wrong um
- 16:35but I don't think so yeah yeah got it yeah okay cool and I honestly Sometimes
- 16:40some of the things I'm like the more I time I spend on this the less I'm
- 16:45convinced I should be even [ __ ] looking at this guy like yeah correct I
- 16:49think I think I think it's all by Design that's how the game is supposed to be
- 16:54and then because you can I might give another try you can just not even say
- 16:57anything when they ask you who do you think did it you just go I don't know
- 17:00and then see yeah that's what I thinking actually yeah they take your advice
- 17:06under advisement but it's their decision you could just not tell them anything
- 17:11that's that's that's well I ended up telling them about a couple of people
- 17:14but keeping a couple of other people's Secrets secret and then they just made
- 17:19up their own mind I was like oh okay you went with you went with that guy I was
- 17:22actually quite shocked by what happened in act one the first time I played
- 17:25through I was like oh [ __ ] that's so was I yeah wait I was like no you didn't do
- 17:29that because of what I said right because exactly I was like why didn't
- 17:33tell you to do that yeah I just said he was a bit Shifty I
- 17:38didn't say the second playthrough I was like you need to this this is the guy
- 17:42that did it because I was I just wanted to see what would happen yeah sure sure
- 17:46yeah no it's a good game Jenna just finished it as
- 17:51well yeah but she doesn't mind reading so that's right I quite like reading so
- 17:57this has worked out reading you miss it well read this game what you could do
- 18:02might reind you can choose you can choose for the whole thing to just be in
- 18:06Times New Roman if you don't want to look at all the gothic fonts that's true
- 18:09I only do comic SS they don't have a mode for that although it's it is Microsoft Studios
- 18:15and they do own that font so they missed a big
- 18:19opportunity do fonts enter public domain after 100 years I actually don't think
- 18:24you can copyright a font uh I forget where I heard this recently I think you
- 18:29can copyright the the font as in the file like the true type font file as in
- 18:34you could have a copyright on the file itself but once it becomes like used in
- 18:38something like if I have a an image that I used a font in you have you can't do
- 18:42anything about it if I used your font because it's no
- 18:45longer good listeners don't don't get sued on my behalf I'm not a lawyer but
- 18:51that my understanding is that you can't copyright a font as such you could get
- 18:55done for software piracy if you had a font you didn't pay for but if you used
- 19:00the font you could not be done for copyright infringment actually that
- 19:02leads into something sell you can't sell a font that you don't that you desire
- 19:07right of course yeah that leads a little bit into something I want to ask you
- 19:11guys about because I got um had a conversation with a listener this week
- 19:14because we had been talking about the AI avatars and stuff and there's been a lot
- 19:19of discussion about this lately and I think it's very interesting and so I
- 19:23just wanted to see what do you guys think about all this and what I mean is
- 19:27in the context of you got these AIS doing this artwork and
- 19:32they're training them on other people's art existing artwork correct and and
- 19:38people artists have understandably been a bit not bit conc some of are very
- 19:43worried about this right because you're teaching this thing to copy my artwork
- 19:48it's literal plagiarism Yeah well yeah well it depends though right well that's
- 19:52what I want to talk about right so people are very upset about it
- 19:56understandably and yeah what's your opinion on it just first of all It's
- 20:01tricky because I'm interested sort of like CU other artists can be influenced
- 20:06by other there's an argument that the AI is just that but it's a bit different
- 20:11person it's a it's software of person and it's being fed this information yes
- 20:16by a person by a personably cuz I keep thinking who instead making money good
- 20:21arguments on both sides and I think but most of the time it literally always
- 20:25boils down to it's just the fact that it's not a being that's doing it because
- 20:29if I said to you all right I'm going to teach you what superheroes are and I
- 20:33showed you all the Marvel movies and a bunch of Marvel Comics and I said all
- 20:36right go to invent a superhero and you came out with a superhero that's not
- 20:41copyright infringement right well it depends no how close it was to an
- 20:45existing hero and I think that's where the line is because some of these
- 20:49artworks look exactly like the style of artwork specific in that case I
- 20:54definitely don't think that's like like I think the same rule should apply that
- 20:59apply to human created artwork like we
- 21:03do like yeah correct but but it also depends on how you use it because
- 21:09somebody like I mean the ones we've enjoyed the most are the ones where they
- 21:14say Wes Anderson does the X-Men that would be copyright infringement right if
- 21:20anyone's making money off of that yeah for entertainment purposes I like but
- 21:25yes I don't I definitely don't agree that they should have a computer
- 21:28generate a movie based on that prompt and then they should be able to release
- 21:31that movie and make money off it no that's nonsense well I had this
- 21:34conversation one of my neighbors works for canva and uh he was telling us the
- 21:39other day about his AI tool where you can just kind of type in something that
- 21:43you want to see and suddenly you'll see it and I jokingly said yeah providing
- 21:47somebody else has done something similar that it can copy and uh and he was like
- 21:52doesn't copy Dan doesn't copy it creates a unique piece of artwork I'm like okay
- 21:57all right well we won't get into it I'm sit here andg about this with you but I
- 22:02but I find that the line of of influence versus plagiarism is is tricky anyway
- 22:08there was one there was one artist who who took a photo of a
- 22:13house with a I think had a porch swing and and a dog sitting there and another
- 22:19artist went to the same house rented the same house set it up exactly like it
- 22:23took a picture and got sued by the first artist he was like how can you sue me if
- 22:28for taking a photo my photo you didn't take it I took it and he was like you
- 22:32made it exactly like mine he's like but who cares like did he so where where is
- 22:38the line like and I think I think this has made a very good argument like you
- 22:45said because you could dramatically say robots are stealing our art which sounds
- 22:52like something we need to really deal with but I think this that fine line has
- 22:56always been there but here's another thing so cuz it gets a gets fed all this
- 23:01and now you guys done a lot of people got they've spent that $3 and got so
- 23:06many photos MH for an actual artist to go and draw that photo make that thing
- 23:12for they're not going to charge that $3 they're going to make you one photo and
- 23:15that's going to cost I could have given an artist 20 photos and me 10 minutes
- 23:19later had 200 avatars that they had come up with yeah but that's the same
- 23:24argument that people had at the Industrial Revolution when we said we're
- 23:29going to fire 200 people and get a machine instead that's another thing
- 23:33keep coming back to is it's just yeah exactly right it sounds like and to be
- 23:37clear I'm not I'm not [ __ ] on arts or anything like that I have massive
- 23:40respect for art that's a particularly Visual Arts is something I'm not very
- 23:43good at um I I can do music and they have AIS that do that too and that that
- 23:47worries me but on the other hand I'm like I mean we have laws for this stuff
- 23:53anyway right so the computer creates a thing that's literally just the the
- 23:58interstellar soundtrack well then Han Zimmer can sue like yeah correct and and
- 24:03also especially if that person has typed in make this sound like Han Zimmer right
- 24:08no but what what I'm saying but you can make something sound like Han Zimmer
- 24:12like there is there are ways to do that right so as long as it it obeys the
- 24:16rules yeah we're we're less likely to have new artists come
- 24:20along I know it's kind of eliminating a job basically which is but but again
- 24:24that's that's what happens over time but no but remember that was a little bit
- 24:29different so that eliminating job was s of manufacturing doing stuff this is
- 24:32eliminating creativity yeah but what's the difference it's not though because
- 24:35it's replacing creativity with a different kind of creativity no no no
- 24:39but that that that AI learned from what others why is creativity protected
- 24:46arbitrarily versus the I'm not saying it's protected I'm just saying we lose
- 24:50that creativity oh yeah yeah yeah oh no I mean I'm like cuz people aren't going
- 24:54to go out and create if there's to be clear I'm not saying this is a good
- 24:57thing I just think interesting thing like I'm not I'm not I don't know if
- 25:01it's it's necessarily good or bad because I think when we didn't have Photoshop we
- 25:07had to literally cut out things and shine a light on them to make a drop
- 25:10shadow right on transparencies now we have tools that let us do this maybe
- 25:15this is just the next tool and maybe you still will need artists and right now
- 25:19you you can say create this for me and it will but if you want to do anything
- 25:24with any amount of nuance you'll still need a human operator to know what to
- 25:29type in surely yeah but I don't know that you would eventually I think that's
- 25:32I mean right now I'm sure but I mean what again I could come back to what's
- 25:37the difference between a person watching you you know you know you make films
- 25:42you've seen how God knows how many films and you were influenced by films your
- 25:46films are a result of you learning and being trained on the films you've seen
- 25:52like you can't help it's machine learning but organically yeah I don't
- 25:56know no no it's a very very valid point and because I know people are saying
- 26:00they want to be able to oh actually they don't want to be able to opt out they
- 26:03want to this you can't put people's artwork in to train these AIS is what
- 26:07what they want because what's that company one of the companies came out
- 26:11and said you can now contact us and say I want to opt out and we'll remove your
- 26:15artwork and then people are like no no no it's not opt out it in yeah but but
- 26:20you did opt in because you created artwork that youhere so I'm looking at it why can't
- 26:26the computer look at it that's that's M I'm influenced by it yeah yeah that's
- 26:32very interesting I I do know that there's been at least some litigation so
- 26:36far so somebody created a comic book right and using AI to do the art and
- 26:41then tried to trademark that and we're told you cannot you don't own you didn't
- 26:45create this art oh interesting because the the human didn't create it they
- 26:49couldn't copyright it yeah but but but people made the AI did they that they
- 26:54own it is that one of the things that I doubt it I doubt the to undermining my
- 27:00argument is that like the if the creative force is not the AI itself
- 27:05that's a good point like who would earn the copyright the AI would this reminds
- 27:08me of when that monkey took that selfie yeah right cuz what I'm saying weird as
- 27:13it sounds what I'm saying is what's the difference between a human doing it and
- 27:16a computer doing it but then if we're talking about the the computer's not
- 27:19going to own it well it's like well hang on a minute that's different then so
- 27:22yeah that does undermine my argument but but can I go into the pton office and be
- 27:26like I'd like to register for a trade Mark for my computer for the artwork that my
- 27:32computer produces yeah or like if if lra paints something can I go in and go I'd
- 27:36like to copyright this my daughter made it and I made her
- 27:40so yeah yeah yeah and then your mom comes in and Snipes it and takes all your
- 27:47money just going to the h family yeah
- 27:51yeah I I think this is going to be a lot of arguing I think there's going to be
- 27:57court cases and a lot of aru I think this is going to be like kind of birth
- 28:00of the internet where people wasn't sure yeah how the law worked in cyberspace I
- 28:05think this is going to be still don't yeah true I think this happened really
- 28:09quickly too and I guess one of my it got good very quickly one of the questions I
- 28:13have my argument is also undermined by like I don't have a huge technical
- 28:18knowledge of how these things work versus how a human brain works right
- 28:23obviously like listeners don't be fooled I don't know these things so when I say
- 28:28I don't know the difference that's because I'm that's because my favorite
- 28:31film is Blade Runner and so when you tell me that an artificial intelligence
- 28:36has done something I want to defend it so yeah and I want to say maybe that AI
- 28:40doesn't even know it's AI maybe it thinks it's human so I may beting Human
- 28:44Than Human I may be being weird about it because of that I'll be honest let's ask
- 28:48the AI ask that what's that chat GPD thing let's get it that thing is going
- 28:52to convince you for sure it's a genius mhm that's scary too hot robot from XM
- 28:58sure she'll tell you she'll set you straight which one true very
- 29:04true I think you're right though this happened very quickly because earlier
- 29:08this year I downloaded an AI artwork app and started putting stuff into it and it
- 29:15was fun for a day and a half but only if you like bizarre abstract art yeah
- 29:21remember when I first started seeing mid Journey horror generated stuff and I and
- 29:25I was like oh God my eyes can't even comend what I'm looking at so that's
- 29:29what this was like but I was typing in things like a Wells right and then I was
- 29:33just getting bizarre and it was literally taking bits of photos of a and
- 29:39Wells from 100 years worth of imagery yes and just smooshing them into an
- 29:44original in a way that no human mind would ever think to do so correct no
- 29:48same human mind yeah that's right um but this is not that because like we've said
- 29:54the things that we did lenzo or whatever it's called last week looks like me just
- 29:58made it was like hey Dan want to be hot here's what it would look like if you
- 30:02were stop picking up that cat I can pick up my cat however I
- 30:08want she likes it but here's the thing right because I think you mentioned
- 30:14films Matt and there is AI to write films now it's happened it already
- 30:19exists and I would say that the era of
- 30:24original screenwriting has long passed in fact may not have even existed
- 30:29because I watched a there's a great old film called Sunset Boulevard which was
- 30:34made in the' 40s which is what 20 to 30 years after film was invented which
- 30:40already talks about how films are just cookie cutters from Studios make turning
- 30:44out the same thing right and that was that's 80 years ago now right so there
- 30:49may never have been any originality but they definitely isn't now every film I
- 30:53go and see is the exact same script structure as every other film that see
- 30:58at the moment right Joseph yeah well exactly right um and then just boil down
- 31:04until it's just exact it's Chris Pratt he has to go back in time to
- 31:09save every movie is the same now even AI movies they would all Bei wrote a movie
- 31:15yes exactly right Mario something like that something insane like that correct
- 31:22so what I'm saying is as a viewer of the art I wouldn't notice the difference if
- 31:27an AI started writing a film or if a if if a staff writer at a studio who just
- 31:32knew exactly what he was expected to write started writing a film so as the
- 31:37experience wouldn't change I think Luke is right what he says only the artist
- 31:41suffers here only the person who has no creative Outlet anymore suffers whether
- 31:47that's relevant or not well that's another I'm just interested in I don't
- 31:52disagree with that and I don't think you know I'm not saying that's a good thing
- 31:55but I also I don't see what is the difference between that and someone who lost their
- 32:00job because they used to manufacture or they they had a particular steel working
- 32:05skill that's just not required anymore like no difference as far as I'm
- 32:10concerned I still see a difference okay I think that yeah okay I mean can you
- 32:15can you articulate what it is I'm just curious labor and creativity are two different
- 32:21things like yes like the still M thing yes they train for that all their job
- 32:26and losing that and then having to retrain that is but
- 32:33creativity don't how sure yeah but I learned how I guess that's the
- 32:39difference is that no you you still got that I just learned it the same way you
- 32:44learn or something I can problematize this because Matt learned it you could
- 32:51learn it yes Matt might still be better at it that's cuz I learned it that's
- 32:55only in the eye of the beholder yeah true yeah I might like Matt's music
- 32:59someone else might like your music Luke do you know what I mean no I still think
- 33:03with with you might be right that with creative people that there there is
- 33:07something that clicks like even from a young age like people can pick up and
- 33:10play instruments pick up music or that's the same with laor just things like that
- 33:14like I can't do that [ __ ] like because it doesn't click with me but other
- 33:18people I think I could train you to I think I could train you to labor a lot
- 33:22easier than you could train me to do art only because you'd be like Kicking and
- 33:25Screaming this is a challenge I'm willing to [Laughter]
- 33:31get luk is going to put me in labor Yep this is this is this is very interesting
- 33:37though this is this is an interesting debate and I this is kind of the nature
- 33:42argument all over again and nobody the podast say it looks like let's move
- 33:47on fine let's move on to something fun let's move on to the Rock and the fact
- 33:52that James gun has fired him okay James fired a lot of people so
- 33:57let's surprised luk thinks that's fun but I uh I Happ to discuss it yeah I
- 34:03just think that James's got a lot of balls so he um I think lenza knows we're
- 34:09talking about it oh my God I think they've said oh maybe Black
- 34:15Adam will come back later but for now he's just I mean he's effectively been
- 34:18fired for now but I think that's what happened to Henry caval as well I don't
- 34:22think they NE necessarily said you will never play Superman again I think they
- 34:25said the next Superman movie he's going to be much younger so you're not in
- 34:28there yeah but I don't see the difference honestly because if well they
- 34:31could do Kingdom Come As the next one after that and bring him back iose I
- 34:36don't know I suppose Michael Keaton got fired as Batman at one point and now
- 34:39he's back so yeah yeah well he's not now
- 34:42is oh yeah no no no he still is Flash FL
- 34:47hold on there's no 100% guarantee we're still getting the flash is there [ __ ]
- 34:51NOS although they are call hey [ __ ]
- 34:56no so so the rock came out and did a
- 35:00post saying I want to give you a long I wanted to give you a long a way to Black
- 35:05Adam update regarding characters and future of new DC James G and VI
- 35:09connected so he's sort of making out that they got together and they agreed
- 35:12on this no you fight yeah I don't think long waited no one saw Black Adam yeah I
- 35:18I didn't know he was a character this other article says that
- 35:23they had to when when they first shot Black Adam it was so bad that they had
- 35:27to SP $7 million re-shooting it oh God I
- 35:32know the bu of the film is way more than everyone thought it was in that I've
- 35:37seen so many movies where they're like oh this was awful before the re-shoot
- 35:40and I'm like M it was awful after the re-shoot yeah what the [ __ ] was it like
- 35:43before I want to see Rogue one re-shoot that's what I want to see so do I you
- 35:47never will you never will Star Wars doesn't go remember Rogue one there was
- 35:52a a thing in a trailer where it looked like she was going to be fighting a TIE
- 35:55fighter you remember that comat against a die fighter yeah yeah mind you I think
- 36:01Gareth Edwards did come out and say honestly I just did that shot for fun
- 36:04yeah yeah no apparently did a lot of those that's a lot of trailer shots were
- 36:07just like oh these lights look amazing and they [ __ ] did mind you you're not
- 36:11allowed to do that now and we can talk about that later oh good point yeah we
- 36:15have an article about that but yeah so yeah com James gun you fired him and I
- 36:21don't I still haven't seen Black Adam I have no interest in seeing no I just I
- 36:25mean I've heard that it's not a good movie so why would I bother when I'm not
- 36:30I wasn't interested to begin with I've certainly not become interested I would
- 36:33literally only watch this to see Henry Cav he's at the end you can just watch
- 36:38the end credits probably so I'm very interested to see what James G's got
- 36:43plann since he's now fired everyone yeah essentially we still don't have official
- 36:49word on some of them right like I don't know scal could have been fired
- 36:52officially she official but she has been removed from the Flash all her scenes
- 36:58have has been canell oh that's a good point but Wonder Woman three wasn't
- 37:02canceled because of her it was apparently canel because Patty j i
- 37:06although I if they're gonna have a younger Superman oh wait no because the
- 37:11she's old yeah but the Amazon don't age the same she's always that's what I mean
- 37:15so you could have a young Superman you could set Superman in the 30s where it
- 37:19began and still have galard Superman ages so he's just he will die eventually
- 37:25so the death of Superman is just just hang just wait
- 37:29he ages the same as a human he ages the same as a regular human yeah oh
- 37:33somebody's figured this out somebody's done this but but look I think one I
- 37:37don't think they'll fire gado I think she'll be one of the ones that stay they
- 37:41have not officially fired that we know of right
- 37:46he's can't imagine but I also James go
- 37:50on a minute after how can release this movie I know with with I think this is
- 37:56because this is flash point which resets it all for them and they've got this movie
- 38:01that start from I have to see it they can't cancel
- 38:06it as much as I [ __ ] hate Ezra Miller no I agree I have I I always hated Ezra
- 38:13Miller and I'd only seen him in bit parts and things and I just always
- 38:16thought he was a smug little [ __ ] and I never liked watching him um but then
- 38:22when I watched that's what they are yeah but when I saw Justice League he was the
- 38:28best part about it yeah like I thought that was an awful movie and I was
- 38:32surprised how much I liked the flash look the reason why I think it's
- 38:37definitely going to come out we' have not heard anything from Ezra Miller
- 38:41weeks like I think they they've they locked away you're going to go get
- 38:47help stop doing all this
- 38:50[ __ ] proof that the movie will come out
- 38:54because they can say his we fixed him like we we acknowledge that he was a
- 39:01bastard and we've not any women in
- 39:06months but I'm also pretty sure they don't they're not going to fire him
- 39:10before the movie comes out though because that's bad pre fire in second
- 39:14that out literally everybody has been winging at James gun saying why the [ __ ]
- 39:19would I go see any of these movies now and it's like I mean that's fair but you
- 39:23don't just go see movies because you like them I thought you lik these I
- 39:26thought you people lik these movies yeah yeah yeah that's right well no not
- 39:31not not really no but here's the thing like I think enough people liked the
- 39:36Batman but it's not part of the DCU right lik Joker it's also not part
- 39:42of DC EU but there's going to be a Batman in the DC EU I assume there'll be
- 39:48a Batman and then there'll be the Batman it's two separate things yeah art Batman
- 39:52yeah like like the Joker there's Joker and then and the
- 39:59there's other Jokers yeah one of the jok they'll tid you all that up for sure
- 40:03yeah for sure I don't think so I think they're going to stick with their
- 40:06standal loans as well he said that they weren't going to do that I think he I
- 40:09think he may have there's some of some of them that can't be stopped at this
- 40:12point like the one with Lady Gaga that's it's too late cat's out of the bag and I
- 40:17think same with um I think the the Batman sequel people are up for that so
- 40:21he might still do it but he did say after that it's all going to be a
- 40:25coherent world so maybe he will just get to be bman cuz that's cuz that's the one
- 40:30stupid thing that they've got they've got the scen movies the DC mov and then
- 40:34the TV all that's exactly what J say he said it's ridiculous he's doing away
- 40:38with all that it's all going to be consistent it is a bit silly in that um
- 40:42Marvel does it so well yeah like linking everything except for that one movie
- 40:47with um I feel like DC always does this though because they did
- 40:51the back in the 2000s where they they're like oh these Comics are a [ __ ] mess
- 40:56because we've got [ __ ] everywhere let's reset and then they reset and then
- 41:00immediately started doing it again they write too many coms and the thing is
- 41:05with Comics is that you you have to be able to change the story or you've got
- 41:10nowhere to go with your writing like Batman punch that guy again but look
- 41:15look the only thing advice I've got for James gun is don't rush it Marvel didn't
- 41:21do Marvel by starting off with Avengers corre that took them years to get there
- 41:27where yeah so start build your universe and in fact they did Iron Man I mean you
- 41:33arguably Iron Man was the first gateway into Marvel there would been others but
- 41:37Iron Man was the one and you wouldn't have said Iron Man was the Batman or
- 41:42Superman of the Marvel Universe like they they took a lessonn character and
- 41:47just made a fantastic movie out of it then they went and did a Thor which was
- 41:52also a great movie and then they did a couple more and then they did Avengers
- 41:57and remember I remember seeing Iron Man at the theater and then the post credit
- 42:00sequence where Samuel Jackson shows up and says I'm putting together a team and
- 42:04I was like what the [ __ ] they can't how how is that going to work the team of
- 42:08what yeah no like about the aveng how are they come on that's not going to
- 42:12happen and then they do then they got oh it's chisworth is Thor and then they got
- 42:15all these [ __ ] and I remember having a conversation on this very podcast
- 42:18where back whenever when before Avengers came out where we were like they're
- 42:23never going to get all these people to be in a movie together like how they're
- 42:26never going get Chris EV chisworth Danny never going to
- 42:31happen and now look at like look at the fuing cast of those movies like now it's
- 42:38well now that's just ask qu and tarantin that's right yeah well they are movie stars cuz
- 42:44people go to the movies [ __ ] no's you cannot tell me that Scarlett
- 42:50Johansson is not a movie star the Robert Downey Jr is not a movie star that Chris
- 42:54Evans is not a movie star I'm not going to try movies are different accept
- 43:00it I am very keen to see what James gun does with DC because actually I love the
- 43:05DC characters I love them more than the Marvel characters I'll admit it I do uh
- 43:10they just haven't been any good ones lately except for I mean all the all the
- 43:14Batmans have been good yeah uh other than the schumak ones uh it's hard to
- 43:20[ __ ] Batman but he did he did yeah George Clooney um someone else [ __ ]
- 43:26char ass laughing at you so a lot of DC a lot of Zack Snider fans are mad at
- 43:30James gun and someone else who's mad at James gun is Ray Fisher what's James gun
- 43:37done him this is a bit interesting right so we've talked about how Ray Fisher got
- 43:42[ __ ] over by one of Brothers he had a bigger role as Cyborg and he he I think
- 43:49his his opinion is that because he's black they just were like cut him out of
- 43:53the movie we don't give a [ __ ] which sucks I know it wasn't
- 43:57I think he he definitely has accused them of being racist and reducing his
- 44:03role and his autonomy because of because of it right it's fair you know I'm not
- 44:07who might say look I haven't had someone be racist Against Me Maybe when you do
- 44:12you know it yeah and so James gun came out at the time in support of Ray Fisher
- 44:17and said that's awful you know support you 100% all that kind of stuff right on
- 44:22Twitter and recently Ray Fisher come out and cuz you know James gun's taken over
- 44:28head a DC and that kind of stuff and um Rish is mad at him because those tweets
- 44:32have been deleted tweets where he came out in support of Ray Fisher and then
- 44:37James gun came out tweeted and said Ray all my old tweets get deleted now
- 44:42automatically it's nothing to do with you mate nothing like yeah I got like oh
- 44:47yeah of course he does cuz he got [ __ ] yeah he got roasted over the
- 44:52coals for what he said so I guess he must have some script that just deletes
- 44:57or at the very least personal assistant yeah yeah who just deletes all these old
- 45:03tweets after a certain period of time so I think this might end up being the
- 45:07nothing but um yeah also and I apologize
- 45:11to Rey I'm sure you're a lovely man and I'm sure you're actually quite a
- 45:15talented actor you got the job in the first place but your character was
- 45:19boring as all [ __ ] now maybe you could say that's because all your good scenes
- 45:22were cut out and if that's the case also I apologize for that that sucks for you
- 45:27you were theor in theor movie you can't to be brought even that James gun's back
- 45:34now so he definitely has in the SN cut his role is greatly expanded and is much
- 45:40more interesting and so I 100% can understand why he was pissed off with
- 45:46what Jos W did and or J and whoever the producers at Warner Brothers who [ __ ]
- 45:51him over I don't know why they did it um yeah potentially it is because because
- 45:55they're racist like and that's [ __ ] uh I think think got James no and it's got
- 46:00more to do with the fact that if you swap a director you have to shoot more
- 46:05than 50% of the film with that new director or there's legal implications
- 46:09for the original director so he probably scrapped a lot of the other cast as well
- 46:16scenes that they had shot to and well yeah remember well cuz how long is just
- 46:21Le when it came out because remember did go back to being a 4our movie correct yeah yeah
- 46:27unwatchable in one sitting in my opinion I thought the first one was unwatchable
- 46:31but for a completely different reason yeah I did watch it in one
- 46:35sitting the four hours I liked it a lot better I yeah I liked it better too yeah
- 46:41I mean it wasn't still was my favorite movie it wasn't great but it was better
- 46:45I put on um Man of Steel this week I didn't watch it all because it's
- 46:50incredibly boring in many ways which is a shame because the bits that are good
- 46:56are very good and he Henry caval is excellent and actually I like Snider's
- 47:01point of view of Superman as a god like I like I like that he didn't do it very
- 47:08well and there was way too much of that movie set on Krypton yeah Russell Crow
- 47:14dragons Etc and too much way too much Russell Crow but hey you pay for Russell
- 47:19Crow you want to get him in there as much as you can yeah mate from now on
- 47:23Russell Crow is Zeus to me and no one else yeah mate mate you are this close
- 47:29to not coming to the ory I still don't believe they let him
- 47:35do that accent I've noticed I see every every time people mention that movie
- 47:39they're like negative about it I'm like I liked that movie what yeah I liked it
- 47:44too yeah use it as an example of how Marvel's not perfect and how they make
- 47:48mistakes and I'm like I thought that it's far from the worse use
- 47:52eternal it Eternal like people think eternals is better than that I'm so conf
- 47:56confused yeah I do not understand that at all I mean Age of Ultron isn't all
- 48:02that good you know what I mean like there's there's a few in there that just
- 48:04aren't all that good that's good point yeah yeah you watch them because they
- 48:07fill in the gaps and you but not everything could be civil war Iron Man 3
- 48:12is uh [ __ ] off yeah exactly Ben is amazing in it but he's not in it very
- 48:17much no but I love that they brought him back 10 years later he was [ __ ]
- 48:21amazing and Sh actually shangi is a better movie than IR Man 3 and it's got
- 48:26that character in it correct so good I actually didn't think
- 48:29Iron Man 2 was all that good if I'm being completely honest no yeah I would
- 48:33agree with that I think it's better than three in my opinion I think that's I
- 48:35think I'm in the minority better than three it diminishes no no no it goes one
- 48:39two three for sure yes not all the THS are the same but they're not the same
- 48:44like the dark world is nothing like the original Thor and they're nothing like I
- 48:50like dark world and I know that that's very unpopular opinion people really
- 48:53didn't like that the actors in it didn't like it do people like any of these
- 48:59movies yeah I know if everyone's just spend so much time complaining someone's
- 49:02going to see him [ __ ] elbow and Christopher Plumber Christopher
- 49:08Christopher Christopher Plumber also [ __ ] hates it can't get him to shut up about it
- 49:15you're all right Chris yeah he's passed now has he he has yeah yeah yeah we got
- 49:21a long list of Geeks of the week this week do we well candidates C you look
- 49:27we' we've done the thing that we always do we come back after one week break
- 49:31with way too much content and then just crap on about one or two things I know
- 49:35almost an entire episode we've we've got about 10 minutes to go do we want to
- 49:39move to something like geek of the week do is there anything we should mention
- 49:42this is actually followup that I I didn't put it under followup and I
- 49:45forgot but you have mentioned it already so we should touch on it briefly and
- 49:48that is that Studios um have could potentially be sued now if trailers are
- 49:55too deceptive and I when I read the headline I was thinking oh something to
- 49:59do with you remember in the Marvel trailers where they put Hulk there but
- 50:02Hulk wasn't actually in that scene and like kind of stuff it's not that it's
- 50:06that movie we talked about where Ana deas was in the trailer but they cut her
- 50:11out of the movie like those people might win the case yeah so the judge has
- 50:17allowed them to move forward with this class action lawsuit seems insane of
- 50:22everyone who bought a ticket to this movie because they wanted to see some
- 50:25sweet Anna arm action I mean I understand but come on yeah I can it
- 50:31just seem C but no I don't have a problem with them going through well I
- 50:37want the cost of the tissues and the personal lubricant
- 50:43covered but I don't know it seems sort of fair like
- 50:49person advertise it with this and then you remove them from it that's what Dan
- 50:53turns around and says to everybody in the theater before the movie starts anybody let you
- 50:58know this not just for me I've brought enough to go
- 51:02around um I remember when I was a kid cuz they used to always cut the trailers
- 51:08early and they used to cut trailers off of work prints put them out I mean
- 51:13you've seen the original Star Wars trailer looks nothing like the final
- 51:16movie the original Batman 89 trailer looks totally different to Batman's got
- 51:21different takes different shots you've never seen and stuff it used to just be
- 51:24stock standard now I've cut trailers right and then I've had to come and
- 51:28recut them because the producers gone oh we removed that shot from the show so
- 51:32you have to remove it from the trailer people have very careful now to not
- 51:36misrepresent yeah right well they'll be moreful now guess yeah yeah that's right
- 51:41now that you can literally be sued well Rogue one is a good example of this
- 51:45phenomenon as well because the Rogue one trailers had tons of stuff in in them
- 51:49that wasn't in the movie like there's the famously the shot of all of them
- 51:53running along the beach and she's got the data Cube [ __ ] thing and so it's like yeah
- 52:00literally just [ __ ] leing the whole end of the movie was clearly different
- 52:04because they got out of that Tower with the stuff so yeah yeah but two two
- 52:10factors number one he admitted he shot cool stuff just for the trailer and
- 52:15number two they fired him in between that trailer coming out and them doing
- 52:19re-shoot and a reedit and number three the people in those shots were still in
- 52:23the rest of the movie they didn't disappear from the
- 52:27whole thing yeah no but if you'd going to see Rogan just because you wanted to
- 52:32see her Square Off Mano am Mano against a TIE
- 52:38fighter that TIE fighter show [ __ ] this
- 52:42tissu my I'm dying to see this fter I will jerk anyone in this Cinema off
- 52:48while I watch that yeah and in that shot there's just no TIE fighter blue balls
- 52:54just oh God I keep thinking of the last episode of the first season of um
- 52:59Silicon Valley where he's talking to that reporter and he was like I can joke
- 53:03off anyone in this room and I can prove it yeah that a great show had the
- 53:07algorithm for how many people you could jerk off in yeah yeah that's amazing
- 53:11show I saw an interview with that guy you know how was it TJ TJ Miller is that
- 53:16his name he um kind of went off the rails if you recall and apparently was
- 53:21horribly abusive or allegedly horribly abusive um and he said he had some
- 53:25[ __ ] brain injury oh [ __ ] and uh I mean again I don't want to make excuses
- 53:30for the man like but I did make me go oh
- 53:35interesting did you hear that story you know what listeners if you want to hear
- 53:39this story Go On Through To patreon.com yes subscribe uh for the $10 a month tier
- 53:46and and you can have the Afterparty each week where we talk about the stuff that
- 53:49we think we probably get sued for if we put it in the main show also listeners
- 53:54uh we we did ask you guys maybe not you specifically on you but we did put a put
- 54:00the word out and say do you guys mind if we you know get some of that sweet
- 54:03advertising revenue and we were told across the board [ __ ] do it so we're
- 54:10we're going to um yeah yeah don't know you don't have to you can just pay us
- 54:15directly and hear the show we're we're going to Tweet the patreon te I think
- 54:18probably what we'll do is is for the five buck here we'll just you won have
- 54:21any of the ads that we end up shoving in but um yeah but we're not going to do
- 54:25any of those weird ones where it's just like Suddenly It's a [ __ ] TV
- 54:28commercial in the middle of your podcast in the mid mid sentence podcasts who do
- 54:32that oh yeah yeah because they they just yeah they just throw it in they're
- 54:39not Matt Matt you no doubt know more about this than than I do because also
- 54:44I've noticed when I go back to listen to podcasts when I go to listen to older
- 54:49podcasts I'll hear moded ads so this it's clearly not hard baked in corre
- 54:55yeah well it depends obviously what I want to do yeah well if you read ads
- 54:59yeah that's what I want us to do I want that's my preference right I mean if the
- 55:03listeners say they really really don't care and all we get our off is to like
- 55:07in the middle of this sentence there's going to be an ad for [ __ ] I don't
- 55:10know Casper mattresses or something is not vers Casper mattresses let's be
- 55:16clear I'm just using it as an example not yet not yet not yet Cas I don't know
- 55:21that just seems gross to me I don't I don't like them why why would I want to
- 55:24put them in there and then Flash 5 years in the future where this this just
- 55:28[ __ ] lited with ads someone someone me say this and has been interrupted by
- 55:32an ad here's the thing I don't mind and in fact maim bam the best part of that
- 55:38show was when they did the ads because they do always they do the same thing
- 55:43that's what I want to do if we can but I've had a couple of podcasts that I've
- 55:46literally stopped listening to because the ads have taken over and I don't know
- 55:50what algorithm or what in turn chooses the ads but like I'll be they they
- 55:56always add for other podcasts and it's always like are you black are you a
- 55:59woman well then listen to this I'm like man what happened to Target marketing you
- 56:04know you tick the wrong box man that's the problem yeah I ticking all the wrong
- 56:09boxes yeah so we we we can um where we host the show I can go in and say it'll
- 56:15show me the waveform and I can go this is where you put ads this is put ads
- 56:19here I think makes me wonder do the people posting these podcasts not go in
- 56:24and choose an appropriate spot or what the [ __ ] is going on there because
- 56:27that's that's my other question I think I have some control over that but again
- 56:31like I said I don't want to do any of that if we don't
- 56:34have we don't have to we don't have to we have patrons they're [ __ ]
- 56:38supporters we don't need to worry about this it's just you know if we can get
- 56:42some that we read ourselves I think a that would be fun yeah hopefully we can make them
- 56:48entertaining part of the show yeah exactly that's my goal exactly and
- 56:52listeners if it sucks let us know and we'll we'll either we'll decide there's
- 56:55podcasts that I listen to to that do ad reads that essentially are just making
- 56:58fun of it the product and I'm like are you going to get paid or are they going
- 57:03to they're going to pull this sponsorship if you keep talking like
- 57:05this well we'll see we'll find out yeah we we'll push that
- 57:10limit wonder who will be first also I'm not about putting this out there now I'm
- 57:14not going to talk about a thing if I don't know what it is so oh yeah the
- 57:18whole point that could be interesting because I'm I'm more than happy to try a
- 57:23product that I've never tried before even if I'm not the target for it so if
- 57:26if if they you know women's underwear I'll I'll wear it and I'll report
- 57:31back yeah I really don't think we're going to get ad women myriant is for
- 57:36every just a feeling I don't know what they're gonna I honestly we might not
- 57:40get any offers they'll listen to this and be like no
- 57:43yeah no we'll pass so we'll see
- 57:49patreon.com mailchimp.com and have a look at their products SL nerdgasm
- 57:55stamps.com use the promo code nerdgasm is the promo
- 57:59code that I put in must be oh sure yeah yeah that works not MailChimp to be
- 58:03clear I just said I with the advertising agency this is the promo Cod don't
- 58:10bother with M chimp it's rubbish no it's not it's it's great but fine but they're
- 58:16not paying us so whatever not yet that's all for this week thank you for
- 58:21listening and we hope you enjoyed the show if you enjoyed it then please
