- 0:07Welcome back to the Justin Time podcast you with your host
- 0:11Justin and Will, how's it going? Hello brother, how you doing?
- 0:15Good you I'm doing fantastic. I'm even football fantastic for
- 0:19what you showed me yesterday. This is a this is a ground
- 0:23breaking moment for the brand. So I want you to you.
- 0:26You tell the stories like like nobody can.
- 0:29So I'm going to let you show. You what?
- 0:30The great news is. We have gotten an e-mail from a
- 0:34company out of that is located in Denham Springs right outside
- 0:39of BR called Go Glove Works. That's GAUX Glove UORX.
- 0:46They restore gloves. You have a softball or baseball
- 0:50glove, catches mid, anything. They restore it, make it look
- 0:53like new. Yeah.
- 0:54So like, you know, like just when you were showing that to me
- 0:57yesterday, you know, this morning, I looked it up.
- 0:59You do this. I really just impressed by like
- 1:02the work that they do just on a routine basis.
- 1:05Obviously they're really just seeing like a lot of I just saw
- 1:07one like like just gloves really small on the hand like they
- 1:11restored it. They relay stretched it out, at
- 1:14least on the pictures. They really as a more of a clean
- 1:17fit on the hand after they're finished with it.
- 1:19That looks. Really.
- 1:20I saw one of the tik toks where they it was a 2000 infield glove
- 1:25and it was just destroyed the netting and they had pictures
- 1:30and they just made it look like brand new.
- 1:33Just fixed it, got him back, got the kid back on the field and
- 1:37it's all that matters. You know they, you know, like
- 1:40their brand is, you know they say restore, replace and
- 1:42reinvent like they replace, replacing.
- 1:45Our expertise is off the charts. You know, they have the custom
- 1:49modifications near premium quality and they're built for
- 1:52performance. Obviously, you know, it's not to
- 1:54me, I don't see the I don't think it's like cliche either.
- 1:57You know, a lot of people like to take like build for
- 1:59excellence and build for this, build for that.
- 2:02I mean, we could see it right here.
- 2:04I mean, just you, you see the work right there.
- 2:07You don't have to even see the words to it.
- 2:09You know, just like I like, I feel like, you know, it's a
- 2:11really good brand, you know, from what I've seen thus far.
- 2:14So I feel like there's a small promising.
- 2:17Yeah, they're a small business and they just love supporting
- 2:20the baseball and softball community.
- 2:22Absolutely. Yeah, you know they do.
- 2:26God's name that messaged me was Wesley.
- 2:28He's the owner. And they do, you know, glovery
- 2:32lacing, deep cleaning, conditioning break, insurance
- 2:35restorations and custom lace collars.
- 2:37Everybody sees LSU out there with those fancy Marucci gloves.
- 2:40That's all we laced and everything they do that.
- 2:42You can find them on Facebook at Go Gloveworks and you can find
- 2:47them on TikTok and Instagram at Go Gloveworks 44.
- 2:51That's GAUX Glove UO RX44. That's right.
- 2:58On TikTok. And we'll be sure to like, just
- 3:00to like put it in the, in the description in the comments,
- 3:03just all the, the, the socials, just like for you guys to give
- 3:07you a better example of what, what they have to offer.
- 3:10You know, obviously, because you know, we, you know, we are, you
- 3:13know, my brother Justin, you know, he has an excellent
- 3:15upcoming brand. So we want to make sure we
- 3:17support the other brands are upcoming too.
- 3:20They actually don't just like, you know, have businesses just
- 3:23to say, oh, I got a business, but just like actions going to
- 3:25build something more for just the entire community.
- 3:29It's something that you guys going to actually need,
- 3:31especially, you know, we're very heavy in the southeastern part
- 3:34of the country with baseball, so and softball.
- 3:37So obviously, you know, you know, many parents out there,
- 3:40they have children that really deep into the sport that you can
- 3:43really pour into this brand and get like a nice return from it.
- 3:47And the equipment is important. Look, we're just describing it
- 3:51to you. It really, we really is not
- 3:53doing it justice. So go check them out on
- 3:56Facebook, Instagram and TikTok and see for yourselves.
- 4:01Speaking of baseball, though, we got some big news from
- 4:03yesterday. That's indeed right, yes.
- 4:07Yes, Tommy White, Tommy Tanks getting caught up to the
- 4:13Athletics, with his first possible game being against
- 4:16former teammate Dylan Cruz. On Friday.
- 4:19That's cinema, brother. You know that's cinema, brother.
- 4:21I'm sorry. Yeah, that's cinema.
- 4:23I want to see my. Yeah.
- 4:26I mean, I've met Tommy White's dad in Jacksonville this year.
- 4:32Yeah. And he, what he was sounding was
- 4:35it was bound to happen. It wasn't if it was when.
- 4:38And you know, it's when you know.
- 4:43But this is going to be a special draft episode.
- 4:47Yeah, just like, and it's a perfect way to like in before
- 4:50like and I want to say real quick about Tommy Tanks and just
- 4:54he's the we put in the the the dock.
- 4:57So, you know, if he's he will be the 99th player, he's a 99th
- 5:00player in the history of the LSU baseball program to be caught up
- 5:02to the big show. So when we talked about, you
- 5:05know, it got me wondering about how our history as far as like
- 5:09draftees and, you know, guys getting caught up to the show.
- 5:11You know, according to Baseball Almanac, we are fifth all time
- 5:16in the guys who've been called up to the to the pros only
- 5:20behind, you know, and this is like right before like Tommy
- 5:24right now it says 98 for us. This is before, you know, Tommy
- 5:27White's announcement. So we're only behind USC, Texas,
- 5:31Arizona State and Stanford. Those are like, you know, best
- 5:34college baseball royalty also. But obviously just a quick a
- 5:38great shout out to this young man really just realized his
- 5:41dream. And then look, I really feel
- 5:43like just out of let's let's go through this, OK, We've got
- 5:48yeah, sure. Derek Curiel being taken in the
- 5:51first round, 5th to Pirates. Yep.
- 5:55Jake Brown going in the second round, the 65th overall pick to
- 5:59the Mariners. Devin Sharon, which I wasn't
- 6:01expecting. Fourth round, 128th pick overall
- 6:06to the Phillies. By by the way, he was the
- 6:08powerhouse pull reliever of the year.
- 6:10So shout out to him. He really did a he was very
- 6:13steady for us this year. And a.
- 6:16Very year that was a lot of struggling, but just he was a he
- 6:19was a steady force. Yeah, then we've got Grant
- 6:22Fontenot, right-handed pitcher, Royals.
- 6:25He helped us out a lot this year.
- 6:27We probably would have lost a few more games without starting
- 6:31pitching injuries. Yeah.
- 6:33We got Santiago Garcia went in the 12th around 200, I mean
- 6:38372nd pick to the Jays. Blue Jays Connor Binge,
- 6:44right-handed pitcher, 13th round, 385th pick overall to the
- 6:49Marlins. Gavin Guidry it's 16th round,
- 6:52480th pick to the Mets in Zach Cowan, 19th round, 573rd pick.
- 7:02Cleveland Guardians. And the reason I said their
- 7:06overall pick number is because that it doesn't matter.
- 7:13All of these pictures that I just named 121234 fives out of
- 7:20all of them, I think all of them will be in, you know, up there.
- 7:24Yeah. One that really kind of got me
- 7:27is Chris Stanfield went undrafted.
- 7:30Yeah, I think, yeah, it's, I'm nothing like that of of course,
- 7:34you know, obviously we're both biased, but it is what it is.
- 7:37But just like, but I knew like I'm not completely shocked
- 7:41because I, I didn't, I didn't hear a lot of people too high on
- 7:43them as a prospect. We started the same thing about
- 7:46Milan, but at least Milan had the unbelievable no defensive
- 7:50contribution. And obviously it was a big
- 7:53debate whether he was going to be drafted or not or go high
- 7:57enough. So I know we've already hashed
- 7:59that out. Yeah, honestly, I think if he
- 8:01doesn't go get hurt this year, I think that plays a big role in
- 8:06it. But yeah, like what, Jay?
- 8:08Did you see what Jay Johnson said about Curiel?
- 8:10So like what was Yeah, like rehash that for me.
- 8:14He. Said that, you know, he was
- 8:17talking to DC, he's talking to Derek at all a couple weeks
- 8:22before the draft and cure. I was like, coach, if I go 11th,
- 8:28I'm going to come back to LSU and he's Jay Johnson pretty much
- 8:32said, look, I told him, look, this is where you're going to
- 8:35go. This is what they're going to
- 8:36give you. And you were going to sign and
- 8:37you were going to go. There you go.
- 8:39You know, you know, it's funny. I always, you know, one thing I
- 8:43love about a lot of college, like high end college coaches is
- 8:46that they're very realistic as more as possible, just like
- 8:50they, you know, a lot of people have this ideas like, oh, you
- 8:54just push these guys to the post or I say, listen, it's not just
- 8:56about push these guys away. You want you want to encourage
- 8:59them to go when their stock is high.
- 9:01Exactly. So it's like you're brother, you
- 9:04in the top ten of the MLB draft, top five.
- 9:08I'm sorry, Like you get Liz. I don't care how much you love
- 9:10LSU, Bleeper and Gold like he has to go, he has to leave.
- 9:14Yeah. And look, do I think if he came
- 9:16back, but I think he would have came back and he would have
- 9:19actually like played into his body.
- 9:24I think he might have been the number one pick overall, but #5.
- 9:27#5 out of, out of. #5 pick and he was injured at the beginning
- 9:35of the season, Really didn't get into it because he broke his leg
- 9:37or his foot. Grade point.
- 9:39That's right. That's pretty amazing.
- 9:41Yeah, I'm, I'm sorry. I just, I just listened to me.
- 9:45I'm all for the young men, these young men getting to if, if
- 9:49their stock is high enough and they're confident with that
- 9:51draft slot, you got to go because that's, that's like, I
- 9:55mean, you can talk about well, coming back, that's what the
- 9:58coach is for. That's what the recruiting
- 9:59process is for. You retool.
- 10:01That's that's what you paid to do.
- 10:03So you should be able to, especially in a program like
- 10:06this with the resources. Exactly.
- 10:09Now what's interesting to me is LSU made out like bandits from
- 10:13the MLB Draft. Yeah.
- 10:15All they got, they were they went to.
- 10:17Yeah. I mean, like that.
- 10:19That's been a big story, yeah. We retained a good bit and we
- 10:23got 123456789101112131415 of our elite high school recruits
- 10:33coming to campus. They have like sick.
- 10:35They we wonder the draft, you know, six of the top 100 signees
- 10:39heading to Baton Rouge. Yeah.
- 10:41You know, just they say nothing compared.
- 10:43They had a close to nothing compares to LSU.
- 10:46Are you saying just, you know, this.
- 10:48Yeah. It just goes to show like what
- 10:51Jay has really established, obviously you already have the
- 10:53long time legacy of the program, but just what he's able to like
- 10:58establish this retention dominance especially I know and
- 11:01we already said he's going to come with a vengeance.
- 11:04You know, after the season that they had, you know, you have
- 11:06more time to really retool because their season ended early
- 11:10into normal. But nonetheless, I think like,
- 11:12he's delivered, which is why he's the best coach in the sport
- 11:15right now. There's no there's no accident.
- 11:17So yeah, you can't. You can't get any better than
- 11:20that. Yeah, You can't get much better
- 11:23than that. And it's a testament to him.
- 11:26And I'm looking at this list and I find something is, could it be
- 11:29a, you know, prediction or something along those lines, a
- 11:36projection. But if you look at how they got
- 11:39the numbers, the players numbered on this list, Milam is
- 11:43sitting at #8. Then if anybody deserves it on
- 11:47this year's coming back team, this coming back and deserves it
- 11:49on this team, it's Stephen Milam.
- 11:51Deserves it #8. Yeah.
- 11:55Yeah, but you know, looking at this list, they put up Cape Cod
- 11:58All Stars, you know, and got some LSU guys listen to the All
- 12:03Stars for Cape Cod. I know Bino Waters and I forgot
- 12:09the other one. Pulling it up now.
- 12:11Dawson Park, Dino Waters and Dawson.
- 12:15Dawson Park name to the Cape Cod All Stars.
- 12:19You know Bino Waters of the Anglers?
- 12:21Who knows? And killers.
- 12:23Yeah, Cavaliers. Yeah, so we're getting, we're
- 12:26getting some good guys from that portal, you know, right.
- 12:31It's been a great week. And Speaking of that list that
- 12:3499, you know, players from the mages, it's going to be 101 O1
- 12:43very soon because I think yes, Kate Anderson and Anthony Isis.
- 12:49And that's that's the next ones they just wear like the Futures
- 12:53Game. So it's just, you know, I feel
- 12:55like they they've had like promising starts to their pro
- 12:58careers to this point, you know, just shout out to them as well.
- 13:03But yeah, like I was when I looked up this list, I was like,
- 13:06yeah, I was like, it's not shocking that they're at that
- 13:10high. You know, this 100 in that 100
- 13:13category. UFC has like the long standing
- 13:15history with like the High Peak players, but just but yeah, this
- 13:22program has done an incredible job.
- 13:23I know it's a deal let down this past year, but just they still
- 13:28the respect is still there for this program.
- 13:30You know, it looks like it's more of like a flash in a pan
- 13:33type outlier season. Yeah.
- 13:35And then you look, the respect these players have for the game
- 13:41is unmatched. Take a guy like Paul Schemes.
- 13:45They asked him how he felt about summer ball and he said, you
- 13:47know, you look at it and you got all these guys and they they
- 13:51don't teach them fundamentals and everything.
- 13:54They teach them how to do the big hit, get the big hit, hit
- 13:57the ball for and throw hard. But they don't teach them
- 14:00fundamentals. And he was just saying, like, go
- 14:03back to fun, teaching them fundamentals, teach them the
- 14:05game, you know? And and, you know, unfortunately
- 14:08that was interesting. Bring it up.
- 14:09You know, it's it's you see that a lot in sports in general, like
- 14:13people are so they are so like, you know, the football with the
- 14:16seven on stand, like all this flashy stuff.
- 14:19I mean, I understand like it has its place.
- 14:21But I mean, you know, you talk about like, you know, the
- 14:23quarterbacks when we grew up on watching, you know, just like
- 14:25the 20 tens deck in the NFL, just it just that was like the
- 14:28peak of the position with like from the pocket.
- 14:31Now, like I think athletically the quarterback position as its
- 14:34peak right now, but which is I don't think is a bad thing, but
- 14:38you know when, but it's the problem comes in where you have
- 14:42like when the athletic ability wears out, it goes away.
- 14:46And like you don't you don't have like the processing skills,
- 14:49the pocket skills to really extend your career.
- 14:52But I didn't only bring that up because of what you just said,
- 14:54just about, you know, people we've got so away from the
- 14:56fundamentals of the game. We got an away from
- 14:58fundamentals, but but then you should bring up the seven O 7.
- 15:01I think the seven O 7 is good if you use it for its intended
- 15:04purposes. Yeah.
- 15:06You're not going out there and, and most schools do.
- 15:09Most kids do. They use that seven O 7 to build
- 15:12a relationship between quarterback and receivers.
- 15:16Yeah, yeah, it has its place, yeah, for sure.
- 15:20Yep, but you know, I don't have anything left to say.
- 15:24Just go Tigers. I'm excited for next baseball
- 15:26season. Well, is that I just can't wait
- 15:29to see you like what this team looks like this.
- 15:31We got a lot of time left, of course, to dissect that.
- 15:34But I'm just, I'm just really eager to get back, you know?
- 15:37We should have a Jay thought that we would have a roster of
- 15:4439 scholarship players. I know you have put the the
- 15:48projector roster on the on the dock too, yeah.
- 15:52And looking at this, we've got 41.
- 15:54Yeah, I see. Yeah.
- 15:56And like you said in Bo and you said in Bo, just like that's
- 15:59like our, you know, high school guys.
- 16:01Yeah. Yeah, and looking.
- 16:03At it high school players this. Is going to be very interesting
- 16:06to see how our infield shakes up, you know?
- 16:09And it's going to listen. You know you have you have an
- 16:11unbelievable retainer Steven Mylan sort of like your short
- 16:15stop is anchored like that is just like a death taxes and
- 16:18Steven Mylan in field that that is just the most.
- 16:23And you know, it's going to be interesting.
- 16:24I didn't. I don't think I put it in here,
- 16:26but I just remembered it. It's going to be interesting
- 16:28with Rucker and William Patrick. Yes.
- 16:33They had to sit out the rest of the Cape Cod League Summer Ball
- 16:36league with hand injuries. They should be back for fall
- 16:41ball. But it'll be interesting to see
- 16:43how those other guys getting more and more reps and how they
- 16:48got to pick it back up and get back in the swing of things.
- 16:51That all plays out when you talk about starting rosters,
- 16:54especially for Jack Rucker because we've got Braun Milam
- 16:59and Kate Curland that are pretty much to me, going to cement the
- 17:06infield. You know, because you got a guy
- 17:08in Cape Carolyn who's coming from Florida.
- 17:11Exactly that premier experience. So that's that's a huge get and
- 17:15I was excited when they brought him in.
- 17:17Yeah, and then you got Dawson Park, who was a Cape Cod All
- 17:21Star, who was a shortstop, can easily be moved to 3rd, you
- 17:26know, so it'll be fun to see how the infield shapes up next year.
- 17:29Do we put in the returning players or do we transition into
- 17:33somewhere else? And you know, I'm not going to
- 17:35lie, there's an outfield spot that needs to be filled.
- 17:37And I think John Pearson can pull his, you know, channel his
- 17:42brother and. I'd be interested to see him
- 17:45there. Yeah, I know that because he
- 17:46was, you know, he had his like he was pretty steady down the
- 17:50stretch at third. I think I'll be interested to
- 17:53see if like if they decide to do that transition, because I know
- 17:56like you've lost you lost your essentially your outfield like
- 17:59that was steady, you know, when healthy, of course, obviously
- 18:02with Brown, you know, Stanfield and Curiel, but just but just
- 18:05like it that's that's going to be a big prop that I'm going to
- 18:08say problem, but it could be a big question mark and going into
- 18:10next year. Look, I love having that.
- 18:12That's the problem that I'm sure Jay Johnson loves to have and
- 18:18hates to have at the same time, you know?
- 18:22But that's why he's the. Coach, you get paid, but.
- 18:25I. Trust him though.
- 18:26He, I trust him. Yeah, but that'll do it from us.
- 18:31Yes, Sir. Remember to, you know, hit the
- 18:33like, follow, comment, share and subscribe and then turn on
- 18:39notifications so you can hear from us when we come up.
- 18:42Definitely do that and also once again, shout out to go glove
- 18:45works, you know, up and coming business to just obviously
- 18:48listen, this is the South, you know, you play baseball.
- 18:51Go check them out and get your stuff together.
- 18:54That's GAUX. Yes, Glove Works is spelled with
- 18:59an X, not AK. That's right.
- 19:03They're on Facebook, TikTok and Instagram.
- 19:05Go check them out. Be good everybody.
- 19:07We'll see y'all next episodes. Yes, Sir.
