- 0:03Speaker 1: got the legends man clips. What's up?
- 0:06Speaker 2: Yo, Yo, what's happening.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Thank you guys for being in my pockets consistently for
- 0:10Speaker 1: the last I don't know a month and a half.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Every time you guys dropped something, it's like I got
- 0:15Speaker 1: the alerts turned on. Now. Yeah, I don't know how many.
- 0:18Speaker 1: I probably have boughten, like twelve different things had to
- 0:23Speaker 1: but things were selling out though, Yeah. Yeah, so I
- 0:26Speaker 1: missed out on like the Denim Tears ship.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I feel like I feel like that that
- 0:31Speaker 3: that's been a major part of the rollout, super and
- 0:35Speaker 3: just showing the the the the the lineage and our
- 0:39Speaker 3: connection to certain brands and streetwear right and just uh,
- 0:44Speaker 3: you know, just showing showing how how much we've been
- 0:47Speaker 3: a part of of of this culture.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean you guys have always been tied obviously
- 0:52Speaker 1: play clothes with such a yeah a moment in time
- 0:55Speaker 1: and BBC and you know the early Bape ship. Yeah,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and you guys just had the car Heart yep thing
- 1:02Speaker 1: that's coming Yeah, more money coming in from my pocket, yeah,
- 1:07Speaker 1: car Heart Tears. I'm curious all yo, Malice man talk
- 1:11Speaker 1: to me because it's been what sixteen years since To
- 1:16Speaker 1: the Casket fifteen sixteen. Yeah, you know you you had
- 1:21Speaker 1: two really dope projects that you released as No Malice.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you.
- 1:25Speaker 3: I appreciate that.
- 1:28Speaker 1: For you in particular. You know, you're back to Malice
- 1:32Speaker 1: right right. How are you feeling being in clips mode again?
- 1:37Speaker 1: How are you feeling being I guess you know you've
- 1:41Speaker 1: been kind of in the cut for for a minute
- 1:43Speaker 1: watching Push turned into you know, one of the most.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Of all time on his own, you know, Yeah, and
- 1:48Speaker 4: that's been a joy to watch. It's all natural, like
- 1:53Speaker 4: being here with my brother.
- 1:55Speaker 2: You know, this is what we've done.
- 1:57Speaker 3: We started this together.
- 1:58Speaker 2: So now to to be back and.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Working together and traveling together, it's all natural.
- 2:04Speaker 2: And working with with phar Real.
- 2:06Speaker 4: You know, just all of us coming up. It's just
- 2:10Speaker 4: like a family reunion. So yeah, it's really good. It's
- 2:14Speaker 4: really good.
- 2:15Speaker 1: It's kind of crazy because I feel like there was
- 2:16Speaker 1: such a perfect like bookmark with Till the Casket drops,
- 2:22Speaker 1: because I feel like if you were listening to your
- 2:24Speaker 1: verses in particular right on that album, the tea leaves right.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Absolutely, man, absolutely yeah, And I'm really grateful for that
- 2:34Speaker 4: because my my emotions and and everything have been well documented,
- 2:41Speaker 4: you know, my thoughts. You know, like you said, you
- 2:46Speaker 4: saw it coming about, so I don't really have to
- 2:48Speaker 4: explain it so much to the fans or to the
- 2:51Speaker 4: people that follow us or that are into our music.
- 2:54Speaker 4: They pretty much could see, you know, where I was going.
- 2:59Speaker 1: You guys kicked the Eye album off with the dedication
- 3:02Speaker 1: to your mom, and you know, I feel like Mom
- 3:05Speaker 1: and Dad. I mean, it's it's such a I remember
- 3:09Speaker 1: I was listening to it yesterday and I was riding
- 3:12Speaker 1: around New York listening to the project, and that is
- 3:15Speaker 1: a song that mayn had to be just a tough
- 3:20Speaker 1: session for you guys to do, I can imagine.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Extremely tough to get through, extremely hard. It wasn't just
- 3:28Speaker 4: the fact that you know, we lost our parents, but
- 3:32Speaker 4: just how close, you know, within four months, and just
- 3:35Speaker 4: to go back and to you know, document it, but
- 3:39Speaker 4: you also want to leave a good memorial or a
- 3:45Speaker 4: good dedication, you know, to your parents or whatever. And
- 3:49Speaker 4: I just think from the production to the raps, it
- 3:52Speaker 4: was just like the perfect send off.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Were there any emotions you guys shared on that record
- 3:57Speaker 1: that you guys had heard for the first time from
- 3:59Speaker 1: each other.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so, I mean, yeah, yeah, yeah, I
- 4:04Speaker 3: think what what you're what you're listening to is is
- 4:10Speaker 3: two conversations, basically, Malice's last conversation with my dad and
- 4:16Speaker 3: my last conversation with my mom. So I don't think
- 4:20Speaker 3: he knew. I don't think Malice knew things that my
- 4:24Speaker 3: mom was telling me, you know, the you know, some
- 4:28Speaker 3: of the conversations she probably had with him, or things
- 4:32Speaker 3: that he knew, he didn't know that I knew them,
- 4:34Speaker 3: and he didn't know that she articulated that to me,
- 4:37Speaker 3: So I know that for sure.
- 4:39Speaker 1: That's crazy. I can only imagine you guys are in
- 4:41Speaker 1: the studio and it's like, this is like this moment
- 4:44Speaker 1: was it Was it a busy session or was it
- 4:46Speaker 1: very very like isolated, No, it was it was pretty busy.
- 4:51Speaker 1: It's pretty busy because it was recorded in the lv
- 4:55Speaker 1: LV headquarters, so you know, it's.
- 4:58Speaker 3: No privacy, privacy Louis Vuitton. So it's like, you know,
- 5:03Speaker 3: sketching sewing drawings, people coming in fabrics.
- 5:10Speaker 1: What's that like for you? Push Because you've been in
- 5:13Speaker 1: so many random settings working with good music. I'm thinking
- 5:17Speaker 1: of the hotel room. I'm thinking of Hawaii, I'm thinking
- 5:20Speaker 1: of Wyoming. I'm thinking of all these places that you've
- 5:23Speaker 1: been able to you know that are un you know
- 5:26Speaker 1: obviously that we're not used like I guess you could
- 5:29Speaker 1: say like unique places to record. What was the difference
- 5:32Speaker 1: between like some of those situations and being at Louis Vuitton.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Well, I think that I think that all of those
- 5:37Speaker 3: situations made made me prepared me for unorthodox situations. I don't, man,
- 5:49Speaker 3: you know, outside of Virginia, I don't know if I've
- 5:54Speaker 3: been in a proper studio for years, for years, like
- 5:58Speaker 3: I haven't recorded in a proper studio.
- 6:03Speaker 1: In ages.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Yeah, so I don't you know, it's a it's very
- 6:09Speaker 3: it's very Uh, I don't know. I just thought it
- 6:13Speaker 3: was the new way right now, it's just a new
- 6:15Speaker 3: way you pull up and record anywhere.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Right right right right?
- 6:19Speaker 5: Yo?
- 6:20Speaker 1: Can you guys get me? Because okay, you guys put
- 6:22Speaker 1: out so be It and it doesn't hit DSPs, it's
- 6:25Speaker 1: on YouTube, and then there's the so be It two
- 6:27Speaker 1: point on the album. Yeah, was this a sample thing?
- 6:31Speaker 3: What was the man? It's I think it's I think
- 6:34Speaker 3: it's a fan thing. I think it's a fan thing.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Having a video and just you know, you gotta go.
- 6:39Speaker 3: This is the only place you can get it. Get it,
- 6:41Speaker 3: get it right here, Yeah, you know, get it right here,
- 6:44Speaker 3: and and enjoy it, enjoy it all as a body
- 6:46Speaker 3: of work for y'all.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I'm curious man, like you guys have in my opinion too,
- 6:54Speaker 1: like Undeniable Classics, Lord Willing, Hell Have No Fury, and
- 6:59Speaker 1: as a Clips fan.
- 7:00Speaker 3: As a Clips fan, which is better? Which is better?
- 7:03Speaker 1: So I had this conversation which is better? Which? Just
- 7:06Speaker 1: tell me which is better? I'm gonna tell you because
- 7:08Speaker 1: I have my I have my unique perspective, unique answer here,
- 7:12Speaker 1: my personal favorite. It's not the better album because nostalgically,
- 7:17Speaker 1: I had it in high school and I passed that
- 7:19Speaker 1: thing around period to period. It was Lord Willing, because
- 7:22Speaker 1: it's the time I just I remember having that album.
- 7:26Speaker 1: It's not the album I think Hell Hath No Furies
- 7:29Speaker 1: the better? Okay, thank you? Do you have a different opinion?
- 7:31Speaker 1: We can keep no?
- 7:32Speaker 2: No, no, no, is this an argument?
- 7:35Speaker 1: No? I just want to know. This has to be
- 7:38Speaker 1: a conversation that you guys have been having behind the scenes.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Someone Hell has No Furio is the better album? Hey?
- 7:44Speaker 3: I'm with you okay, okay.
- 7:45Speaker 1: There, but Lord Willing come on man comedy sexual Virginia
- 7:52Speaker 1: is my favorite clip song ever. Wow. Wow. Anytime anyone
- 7:57Speaker 1: I've ever anytime I meet anybody who ever says Virginia,
- 8:00Speaker 1: I just automatically say rangeold to do but cook and
- 8:02Speaker 1: they're like what never mind, you didn't understand. Yeah, you
- 8:06Speaker 1: know it's crazy too, because I wonder for you, Malice,
- 8:10Speaker 1: you know, from your perspective watching Push the last sixteen
- 8:13Speaker 1: years just go fucking crazy right and put out some
- 8:17Speaker 1: of the best hip hop of all time. Absolutely, yeah,
- 8:20Speaker 1: what's your favorite Push project?
- 8:23Speaker 3: Oh?
- 8:23Speaker 1: Man, of.
- 8:26Speaker 3: I could go with Daytona.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I mean's like the Yeah, it's like the Mona Lisa. Yeah. Yeah.
- 8:33Speaker 4: But but let me let me say also with that,
- 8:37Speaker 4: I expect my brother to deliver every single time, which
- 8:41Speaker 4: he does and has.
- 8:43Speaker 2: You know, there there is a standard there.
- 8:47Speaker 4: There is a standard and a professionalism that he has
- 8:51Speaker 4: always carried.
- 8:53Speaker 3: From the beginning of you know, of.
- 8:55Speaker 4: Clips to his own his own solo work. So yeah,
- 8:59Speaker 4: I'm never disappointed. I love it, you know what I'm.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Saying, Yo, I want to go back because you know,
- 9:08Speaker 1: there was this conversation that, like I had with someone else.
- 9:11Speaker 1: I don't want to talk about it in specific that
- 9:13Speaker 1: no one ever tried to dress like you guys, and
- 9:15Speaker 1: no one ever tried to like be the clips. I
- 9:18Speaker 1: want to go back to the mister Metwo video because
- 9:19Speaker 1: that was like one of those moments in hip hop
- 9:22Speaker 1: that I vividly remember. I had. I bought a fuck
- 9:26Speaker 1: Jive t shirt from mixed Unit dot com. Wow, yes
- 9:29Speaker 1: it was white. Yeah, I had the fuck Jive tea.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Did you guys know like that mister me Too was
- 9:37Speaker 1: gonna stir up this this thing that is still lingering
- 9:42Speaker 1: twenty years later towards it, Like I'd say so, Yeah,
- 9:46Speaker 1: I'd say so.
- 9:47Speaker 3: I think mister me Too was a very clever, very
- 9:54Speaker 3: clever way to to to to to put your flag
- 9:57Speaker 3: in the ground for for anything that you think that
- 10:00Speaker 3: you uh, you know started right.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Yeah. And it's funny because like you you know, you're
- 10:06Speaker 1: always gonna have an opinion, right of course something like that.
- 10:09Speaker 1: But it's like, I mean, you know, I was I
- 10:12Speaker 1: had hid the prints on uh like two days ago yesterday. Yeah,
- 10:16Speaker 1: he said, you guys were on the phone I think
- 10:18Speaker 1: right before I saw him. That's who I had the
- 10:21Speaker 1: conversation about. Which album was better with.
- 10:22Speaker 3: By the way, Oh he said little willing, Yeah he did.
- 10:27Speaker 1: But we were talking about how you are an integrity
- 10:32Speaker 1: over everything kind of fellow. So it's like fuck the look,
- 10:36Speaker 1: fuck the cloud if it if it gets into like
- 10:39Speaker 1: like fucking with your integrity, you said it to the side,
- 10:42Speaker 1: or you'll take and you'll take notes. So it's funny
- 10:45Speaker 1: how like you said, like platting the flag all the
- 10:47Speaker 1: way back then it was it's nothing has changed, you know, Yeah.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Not for sure, man. I think you got to stand
- 10:54Speaker 3: for something at all times. Yeah, I think, uh, and
- 10:58Speaker 3: existing in this business, I think you know, it's about
- 11:02Speaker 3: who can stay the purest the longest, and and and
- 11:08Speaker 3: and really just you know, owning owning your lane. This
- 11:14Speaker 3: is this is how you this is this is how
- 11:15Speaker 3: you be here for twenty three years. Yep, this is
- 11:18Speaker 3: how you be here for twenty three years. This is
- 11:19Speaker 3: how you have this type of discography. This is how
- 11:22Speaker 3: you can work with the best and and and make
- 11:25Speaker 3: the best better like when people, you know, we raised
- 11:28Speaker 3: the bar with any whoever we work with. So I
- 11:32Speaker 3: think I think that all comes from having a standard,
- 11:36Speaker 3: having integrity and having.
- 11:41Speaker 1: You know, just just a a real.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Intentional plan of attack and everything that you do.
- 11:48Speaker 1: For sure, I wonder for you push because you know
- 11:51Speaker 1: it's almost dry. Was not long ago. I went to
- 11:53Speaker 1: the tour, I got the merch YEP. I mean, I
- 11:57Speaker 1: thought it was really dope. How Gate did half for real?
- 12:00Speaker 1: The other half? I think it's up there with Person.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I definitely think I think you had the best verse
- 12:07Speaker 1: on the album. I did, but that wasn't that long ago.
- 12:14Speaker 1: And I just want to know, like, like when it
- 12:17Speaker 1: comes to like, you know, you've obviously been pretty vocal
- 12:19Speaker 1: about you know the AA thing. Was what was the
- 12:22Speaker 1: specific moment where you just kind of realized you had
- 12:24Speaker 1: to disassociate?
- 12:28Speaker 3: Well, you know, I just felt like I felt like
- 12:31Speaker 3: the I remember I can just remember times I remember Atlanta,
- 12:37Speaker 3: you know, and everybody just beingna.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Era, Uh what what was? What was that album? Okay?
- 12:43Speaker 3: So yeah, I would think Atlanta, Atlanta was Atlanta was
- 12:47Speaker 3: a tough time, I feel like, and just you know,
- 12:52Speaker 3: I mean, you know, I have an opinion, man, and
- 12:54Speaker 3: I speak my opinion, and I feel like when I
- 12:57Speaker 3: speak my opinion and and it doesn't match, you know,
- 13:02Speaker 3: I think we kind of fell out there. Yeah, And
- 13:04Speaker 3: I mean you know, I'm never not going to speak
- 13:06Speaker 3: my opinions or it's like this ain't gonna.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Work, you guys, This Kendrick record is insane. Yeah yeah, thank.
- 13:14Speaker 3: You, thank you, Yeah, thank you.
- 13:16Speaker 1: It is. It is crazy and it's crazy too because
- 13:18Speaker 1: it's like you guys kicked the album off the way
- 13:21Speaker 1: you kicked the album off, and then you get right
- 13:23Speaker 1: into the right, right into the ship.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Yeah, got to what what was it like? Did you
- 13:31Speaker 1: guys like what? Because I like listening to Kendrick's verse,
- 13:34Speaker 1: I'm like, well, I don't understand why they wouldn't want
- 13:37Speaker 1: this to come out. What did you guys get like
- 13:39Speaker 1: an answer? Like what was it about his verse? I
- 13:42Speaker 1: don't think that. I don't think it was I don't
- 13:44Speaker 1: think it's about the verse per se. I think it's
- 13:46Speaker 1: just about the optics. Like you guys are both yeah
- 13:50Speaker 1: in the Avengers against you know.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Yeah, basically I feel like that's how they looked at it.
- 13:55Speaker 3: With all the lawsuit stuff going on, and and then
- 13:59Speaker 3: you have you know, you know, you have misinterpretations of
- 14:02Speaker 3: or people just not knowing and just walking on eggshells
- 14:06Speaker 3: around that whole situation.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I believe. Yeah, like you're listening to Kendrick's verse maybe
- 14:10Speaker 1: and you're like, well, maybe is that a lie in
- 14:12Speaker 1: the middle of the legal shit that's happening right crazy?
- 14:17Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think I think that's a narrative that
- 14:19Speaker 4: that needs to die. Also because you know, Kendrick is
- 14:24Speaker 4: out here setting precedences. You know, he has his own movement,
- 14:29Speaker 4: breaking records, and to think that he needs to or
- 14:35Speaker 4: that we need to or start some coalition in teaming up,
- 14:39Speaker 4: I don't even like the sound of that.
- 14:41Speaker 2: You can't undermine what he's doing.
- 14:42Speaker 4: That man is gone and you know he's doing what
- 14:45Speaker 4: he does, so you know, you can't even play me
- 14:48Speaker 4: like that. We we got Kendrick on the album because
- 14:51Speaker 4: he's a top tier lyricist.
- 14:53Speaker 2: And that is you know what we do.
- 14:55Speaker 4: So he was like the perfect match and to think
- 14:58Speaker 4: anything else is just crazy And.
- 15:00Speaker 1: This nothing new for it. I mean you and you
- 15:02Speaker 1: and k I have records like Nostalgias.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Yeah, like they got exactly.
- 15:09Speaker 1: I do feel like there is like a dark Force
- 15:11Speaker 1: verse light force happening in hip hop right now, which
- 15:13Speaker 1: sounds kind of weird, but you know, I feel like
- 15:16Speaker 1: there's like certain artists who will pop up on like
- 15:19Speaker 1: some goofy streamers ship to push their album. You know
- 15:21Speaker 1: what I'm saying, you know what I mean? And and
- 15:26Speaker 1: and you know, it just feels like there's this like
- 15:30Speaker 1: kind of and that is the one thing I could
- 15:32Speaker 1: say about whatever. However you feel about what happened with
- 15:34Speaker 1: the Kendrick versus Drake thing, was it It felt like
- 15:37Speaker 1: there was at the very least, people really dove into
- 15:43Speaker 1: lyrics again in a certain way. Yep. And you just
- 15:47Speaker 1: that was great. You kind of saw pop culture like
- 15:50Speaker 1: split split a little. Yeah. Like I saw Punch say
- 15:53Speaker 1: some ship. He was like, he didn't say the name,
- 15:55Speaker 1: but he's like, it's kind of weird. And all the
- 15:56Speaker 1: artists or all the people who speak out and jump
- 16:00Speaker 1: out for certain artists feel certain way politically or feel
- 16:03Speaker 1: certain ways, you know. Yeah, Yeah, I saw that. Yeah,
- 16:06Speaker 1: and I was like, that's that's kind of I mean,
- 16:08Speaker 1: obviously it's that's a blanket statement. It's not always true,
- 16:10Speaker 1: but yeah, it is interesting. Do you guys feel like
- 16:15Speaker 1: for you like the timing of this album, it just
- 16:19Speaker 1: feels like, first of all, it's one of the best
- 16:22Speaker 1: rollouts I feel like we've seen in hip hop in
- 16:24Speaker 1: recent years. So you guys now now why is it
- 16:27Speaker 1: the best rollout? Though? I just think that the attention
- 16:30Speaker 1: to details, every little thing, Like I feel like you
- 16:32Speaker 1: guys did print the print press first, right, and it
- 16:36Speaker 1: was like, oh shit, okay, so.
- 16:38Speaker 3: This is just all old too. But write and rap
- 16:42Speaker 3: journalism and rha journalism and like being critiqued and putting
- 16:47Speaker 3: out your music, letting people hear your ship, right like
- 16:51Speaker 3: you know, facing it, facing your product, getting in front
- 16:55Speaker 3: of it, not throwing it and hiding you know what
- 16:58Speaker 3: I'm saying, and you.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Know, just building anticipation, man, But just you know, just
- 17:04Speaker 1: actually really just.
- 17:09Speaker 3: You know, uh, you know, being being like like Malissa
- 17:13Speaker 3: being front with facing with your product.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Man.
- 17:15Speaker 3: And I think that's something that we miss.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Something that we missed. I mean I I do, Like.
- 17:22Speaker 3: I I think I asked about two weeks ago, like man,
- 17:26Speaker 3: I want to I wanted to see the reviews, and
- 17:29Speaker 3: I think I think I think Gabe came as a
- 17:32Speaker 3: pr He came back and was like, you know, it's
- 17:34Speaker 3: only like three publications still doing that type of thing,
- 17:37Speaker 3: and I'm like.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Man, like, like we don't have the source mic system anymore, right, Like,
- 17:42Speaker 1: like man, I miss all of that.
- 17:43Speaker 3: You guys got a double XL right, you know, yeah,
- 17:47Speaker 3: like you know, I want to see all of that.
- 17:50Speaker 3: I want to see It's.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Like Anthony Fantana on YouTube now it's like that bald
- 17:54Speaker 1: white dude. But I want to see that too.
- 17:58Speaker 3: If you're taking the sure critique and you know you're
- 18:01Speaker 3: you're you're really you're really well versed. If you're really
- 18:05Speaker 3: well versed in the music and the craft and and
- 18:08Speaker 3: know know the history, know the history, you should be.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Speaking on it.
- 18:12Speaker 3: And I feel like, you know, this rollout is getting
- 18:15Speaker 3: a lot of praise because we were very intentional about
- 18:18Speaker 3: the people that we speak to, very intentional people have
- 18:21Speaker 3: real opinions, people who can really you know, tear it
- 18:24Speaker 3: down or not, you know what I'm saying, but people
- 18:27Speaker 3: who just who know it, who know it like that?
- 18:30Speaker 1: Do you guys? I always think back because you guys
- 18:32Speaker 1: had such a I mean, you guys, A lot of
- 18:36Speaker 1: people don't know who might have maybe just been pushing
- 18:39Speaker 1: T fans recently, but you guys really like went through
- 18:42Speaker 1: the ringer of the music industry early, you know, like yeah,
- 18:46Speaker 1: I mean obviously the jive thing was pretty public, but
- 18:48Speaker 1: even getting shelved at Electra, Yeah, do you guys feel
- 18:52Speaker 1: like exclusive audio footage being shelved and it was on
- 18:56Speaker 1: DSPs for a second. I don't know what happened. It's gone,
- 18:58Speaker 1: But do you like it was like a like a
- 19:03Speaker 1: obviously you guys precursing at the time, but was it
- 19:06Speaker 1: something that you guys look back at now and are
- 19:08Speaker 1: maybe glad that that happened?
- 19:11Speaker 3: Uh?
- 19:12Speaker 4: I think you know, CLIPS is good for rolling with
- 19:15Speaker 4: the punches, you know, we navigate any situation. Uh, even
- 19:21Speaker 4: with even with the label trouble that that just you know,
- 19:26Speaker 4: happened with with death Jim. I don't think it would
- 19:28Speaker 4: be like a CLIPS roll out if we didn't have
- 19:31Speaker 4: some kind of issue or.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Some kind of problem.
- 19:34Speaker 4: And I think, uh, that's the good thing about it
- 19:38Speaker 4: for the fans. And that's why the fans are so
- 19:40Speaker 4: important to us, because they've suffered with us, you know,
- 19:44Speaker 4: having to chill and having to wait, and now that
- 19:47Speaker 4: we come back together and we get to, you know,
- 19:49Speaker 4: give them this offering here, it means a lot.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Do you malice for you? You know, obviously you're a man
- 19:58Speaker 1: of God.
- 19:58Speaker 3: Right absolutely first and foremost man.
- 20:01Speaker 1: And I wonder for you, was was this itch there
- 20:07Speaker 1: like for you to be back in clips mode for
- 20:09Speaker 1: a while.
- 20:10Speaker 2: No, it wasn't.
- 20:12Speaker 1: It wasn't. So what do you think kind of ignited
- 20:14Speaker 1: like that motivation?
- 20:16Speaker 2: There were?
- 20:16Speaker 4: There were you know, it was a few things, a
- 20:18Speaker 4: few a few baby steps. Uh, you know, going out
- 20:21Speaker 4: to uh Wyoming and working with my brother and.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Use this gospel.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Uh.
- 20:26Speaker 3: You know, that was right up my alley right there.
- 20:29Speaker 3: You know, I appreciate it.
- 20:31Speaker 1: That's what's up.
- 20:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I think so, you know, working with uh my
- 20:37Speaker 4: brother on Nego's album, working on PUSH's album. Those were
- 20:44Speaker 4: like little bread crumbs that you know, kind of coaxed
- 20:48Speaker 4: me or whatever. But there was It wasn't an itch.
- 20:52Speaker 4: It was just like the time was right. I knew
- 20:55Speaker 4: that it could be done. And when those projects came
- 20:59Speaker 4: out that I just mentioned, I asked my dad. I
- 21:02Speaker 4: was like, you know, what do you think about me
- 21:05Speaker 4: rapping again? And he was like, he says, son, I
- 21:07Speaker 4: think you've been too hard on yourself. And he's a deacon,
- 21:10Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying. So to hear his perspective
- 21:14Speaker 4: on it, which I had never asked him that before.
- 21:16Speaker 4: I had no reason to asking that because I wasn't
- 21:18Speaker 4: doing anything. But you know, I think everything happens for
- 21:23Speaker 4: a reason. I think this is perfect. The project I
- 21:26Speaker 4: believe is perfect, you know, and I think I think
- 21:30Speaker 4: it's going to do a great service to our fans
- 21:32Speaker 4: and listeners.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Was there ever a point in time where it almost
- 21:36Speaker 1: happened and it just didn't happen for whatever reason where
- 21:38Speaker 1: maybe YA was trying to convince y'all to do it
- 21:40Speaker 1: or for real.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Or yeah, I think I think you know, it was.
- 21:43Speaker 4: It's been convincing all the way through. You know, a
- 21:46Speaker 4: lot of a lot of people trying to convince.
- 21:47Speaker 1: It's been a whole junior in high school year.
- 21:50Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely, yeah yeah, but nah, And
- 21:57Speaker 5: and I also want to say, it's like the level
- 22:00Speaker 5: that my brother has kept it at, you know, for
- 22:03Speaker 5: me to come back into the fold.
- 22:06Speaker 4: You know, if if if it looked like he was
- 22:09Speaker 4: like just trying to survive as a rapper, you know
- 22:12Speaker 4: what I'm saying. But the level that he has it
- 22:15Speaker 4: and in the quality and the taste level of everything
- 22:20Speaker 4: and keeping the integrity of hip hop the way that
- 22:24Speaker 4: I always knew it to be, you know, it made
- 22:29Speaker 4: perfect sense.
- 22:31Speaker 1: And I mean this album, I mean, all your guys'
- 22:33Speaker 1: albums have, uh, for real vocals all over, but this
- 22:36Speaker 1: album really feels like he's an extension of the group
- 22:39Speaker 1: on this project.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Well he is he definitely, no.
- 22:43Speaker 3: For sure.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like I feel like you know, and
- 22:47Speaker 1: and it was dope too, because I feel like as
- 22:49Speaker 1: a solo artist, you've caught away with the dream YEP
- 22:53Speaker 1: that has been super crazy. Yeah. I heard him on
- 22:57Speaker 1: that He's on the album right, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 23:01Speaker 1: all things considered, right, I'm curious for you guys like
- 23:06Speaker 1: to see Pharrell kind of take this next step in
- 23:08Speaker 1: his legacy and go all in on the I mean,
- 23:12Speaker 1: because he's changed fashion. If we think about BBC and
- 23:14Speaker 1: we think about ice cream and I mean just that
- 23:18Speaker 1: whole wave, Like, what's that been like for you guys,
- 23:21Speaker 1: Just to kind of you guys have been there for
- 23:23Speaker 1: the majority of that journey and you know, push for you,
- 23:28Speaker 1: for malice for you, like you guys have the closing
- 23:29Speaker 1: line yourselves. Is that inspire you guys on some fashion ship.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Obviously you've had the Adidas scene going for a while.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Yeah. I think so, man, I think I think that uh,
- 23:39Speaker 3: you know, watching uh, watching Pharrell hit some of these
- 23:42Speaker 3: milestones has definitely been been inspirational.
- 23:47Speaker 1: I think that.
- 23:49Speaker 3: I think fashion goes along with hip hop though, so
- 23:52Speaker 3: you know, I feel like that's part of the I
- 23:56Speaker 3: don't think you can exist in hip hop today without
- 23:59Speaker 3: being consumed by each portion of the culture, you know, music, fashion, art,
- 24:08Speaker 3: whatever it is. Like, you have to you have to
- 24:10Speaker 3: be entrenched in all these different worlds in some manner
- 24:15Speaker 3: to reap the full benefits and rewards of the game.
- 24:22Speaker 3: I think. I think it's about, you know, giving people
- 24:27Speaker 3: that tutorial of you as an artist, and that is
- 24:30Speaker 3: the way that in which you do it. For me, yeah,
- 24:33Speaker 3: you know, you have to. You got to show people
- 24:35Speaker 3: what you're about, what you're about, what you stand for,
- 24:38Speaker 3: what you like. At that point they begin to you know,
- 24:44Speaker 3: champion you and and find the synergy between you and them.
- 24:49Speaker 1: You guys have an app live on the album. Yes,
- 24:51Speaker 1: it was amazing. Always shout to the rep gang ship.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Always at twenty thousand, I was just bumping to twent.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Yeah. It makes me think though, because like I think
- 25:05Speaker 1: I just saw somebody post at the anniversary of Got
- 25:10Speaker 1: It for Cheap Volume two was recently, Oh was it? Yeah?
- 25:14Speaker 1: I feel like Clinton Sparks posted that.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Somebody posted I think maybe yeah.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I mean when you guys have like classic mixtapes like that,
- 25:23Speaker 1: you guys ever try to figure out how do we
- 25:25Speaker 1: put these on DSPs? Yeah? Because that or or like
- 25:28Speaker 1: a vinyl drum because god damn that was a moment
- 25:32Speaker 1: in time. I would love to be able.
- 25:35Speaker 3: It's just I mean, I feel like it's a lot
- 25:37Speaker 3: of work.
- 25:37Speaker 1: It probably is, but you guys are like independent now,
- 25:41Speaker 1: so it's like I feel like it's a lot easier to.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Know it's I'm saying there's a lot of work probably
- 25:46Speaker 3: to get it done. I mean that that would be ideal. Honestly,
- 25:51Speaker 3: there are a lot of just different I wish we
- 25:55Speaker 3: could and just put the discography in a in a box,
- 25:59Speaker 3: you know, and and and in a place that everybody
- 26:02Speaker 3: can because people are learning at different points, you know
- 26:04Speaker 3: what I'm saying. I'm you know, there are people who
- 26:06Speaker 3: are pusha T fans who didn't know about the clips,
- 26:10Speaker 3: definitely didn't know about reub Gang, and you know, and
- 26:13Speaker 3: and and people who are re up Ganged fans, and
- 26:16Speaker 3: you know, and they need to be able to champion
- 26:18Speaker 3: and tell and and and be like, oh y'all, I
- 26:21Speaker 3: don't know about this, Like they need to be able
- 26:23Speaker 3: to have their moment. They need to be able to
- 26:26Speaker 3: have all of the different fans need to be able
- 26:28Speaker 3: to have their moment and and see who they're talking about,
- 26:32Speaker 3: and you know, in in a in a in a
- 26:36Speaker 3: in a curated area.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Yeah, like even if it's a box set or something
- 26:41Speaker 1: like something like, it'd be it would be great. Actually
- 26:44Speaker 1: we're saying, man, man, Philly, I spoke to them.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I just seen saying man, damn right, Okay, yeah,
- 26:50Speaker 3: hell yeah, I've seen saying that I'm saying is good. Yeah,
- 26:58Speaker 3: saying damn good and seeing them at Clark KMP's funeral two.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Oh rest a Cark camp Man.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Yeah, there is something I always wanted to know from
- 27:07Speaker 1: you Push because I, uh, I'm a very opinionated person.
- 27:13Speaker 1: I've gotten into screaming matches with grown men about you
- 27:17Speaker 1: in particular because I have you. I have you, like
- 27:21Speaker 1: ridiculously high in my all time top ten. And you know,
- 27:26Speaker 1: a lot of a lot of people who I'll meet
- 27:28Speaker 1: or you know, they got Wayne real high, or they'll
- 27:30Speaker 1: have Drake real high. So I get into these fucking
- 27:32Speaker 1: yelling matches with grown men, and uh, I always wondered
- 27:38Speaker 1: because to me, the biggest what if of of the
- 27:40Speaker 1: last like seven or eight years, was had you gotten
- 27:44Speaker 1: a response from the story of Adad on how many
- 27:47Speaker 1: how much was in the clip that you just had
- 27:49Speaker 1: ready to go in case that happened? Oh? Man, it
- 27:52Speaker 1: was because it felt like that was the precursor, like
- 27:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna throw this out here because I'm gonna get
- 27:57Speaker 1: you to bite and then I'm gonna take your fucking
- 27:59Speaker 1: head off for real. Yeah, man, I feel like, you know,
- 28:02Speaker 1: that was just a particular point in time, and I
- 28:04Speaker 1: feel like I was ready for the ready for whatever.
- 28:07Speaker 1: But did you have ship in the clip? Ready? Just
- 28:10Speaker 1: you have to be ready, man, you gotta be ready.
- 28:13Speaker 1: What's your thoughts? Just as a fan to see the
- 28:17Speaker 1: bait was taken with the Kendrick thing and then to
- 28:20Speaker 1: see Kendrick have this precise like decaputation, I mean the
- 28:26Speaker 1: most it was insane like that. I thought it was.
- 28:28Speaker 3: I thought it was a really good display just you know,
- 28:32Speaker 3: just just music and artistry.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Man.
- 28:34Speaker 3: I thought it was a damn good display of just
- 28:38Speaker 3: staying your own course to like, you know what I'm saying.
- 28:40Speaker 3: I think Kendrick really stayed the course and really, you know,
- 28:44Speaker 3: precise focused yeah, and I think I think it paid off.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Chess they might meet the Grahams dropt holy ship. Yeah, man,
- 28:51Speaker 1: that was that was insane. Talk to me about for y'all,
- 28:55Speaker 1: Like there has to be, you know, something He's to
- 29:00Speaker 1: be said. I think I hate when people put the
- 29:03Speaker 1: coke wrap label on you push or on the group, yeah,
- 29:08Speaker 1: because I feel like it's there's so much more to
- 29:12Speaker 1: what you guys do than that. But at the same time,
- 29:15Speaker 1: you are the jeff Bezos of the nasal Yeah.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Yeah, So how do you feel about that label? And Jenny,
- 29:24Speaker 3: I don't trip on it anymore. And I'm gonna be
- 29:26Speaker 3: honest with you, like, I don't I know what's happening musically,
- 29:31Speaker 3: and I know what's happening with us musically. And if
- 29:36Speaker 3: you know that's the label that they want to run with,
- 29:38Speaker 3: that's fine, But that's not the true listen. That's that's
- 29:42Speaker 3: not the true listener. And I feel like the true
- 29:45Speaker 3: listener gets the codes and understand what's happening. I feel like,
- 29:49Speaker 3: you know, competitively speaking, I feel like even artist artist
- 29:54Speaker 3: and the casual listener, they they're they're viewing this wrong
- 29:59Speaker 3: and that's why there's there's there's some some misinterpretation there,
- 30:05Speaker 3: but I don't want to correct it because I feel
- 30:07Speaker 3: like it keeps I know those codes, and I know
- 30:10Speaker 3: what's keeping us ahead.
- 30:12Speaker 1: It's not about just coke. But fine, I mean you
- 30:16Speaker 1: have you have somebody else who's you know, could could
- 30:20Speaker 1: fans could say Stove God Cooks is fucking incredible. Got
- 30:23Speaker 1: you guys on.
- 30:25Speaker 3: There, Yeah, yeah, he's Stove is crazy, Stove is man.
- 30:30Speaker 3: I say, you know, he's one of the most entertaining,
- 30:34Speaker 3: uh that I've heard in a minute in in this
- 30:39Speaker 3: you know, uh, in this subgenre of of of of
- 30:42Speaker 3: street rap, coke rap, whatever you want to call it,
- 30:47Speaker 3: you know, and and you get to hear the melodies,
- 30:49Speaker 3: you get to hear the the the metaphors and just
- 30:54Speaker 3: the just the color that he brings to that. I
- 30:57Speaker 3: feel like it's dope, and you know so much so
- 31:00Speaker 3: we used it on the album.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Yeah. I think, uh, he hasn't dropped an album in
- 31:04Speaker 1: like four or five years. He's just been fucking body
- 31:07Speaker 1: in every West Side gun Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, crazy,
- 31:10Speaker 1: yeah yeah.
- 31:12Speaker 5: What.
- 31:12Speaker 1: The inclusion of DJ Clue I thought was dope too
- 31:15Speaker 1: towards the end of the project, because I felt like
- 31:17Speaker 1: it fit and it gives you that nostalgic factor. What
- 31:20Speaker 1: was the decision and using clue specifically, and.
- 31:24Speaker 3: Well, I think we were. I think we were chasing
- 31:26Speaker 3: urgency a lot. And so when we found it, and
- 31:29Speaker 3: we found urgency within the records, you know, it just
- 31:34Speaker 3: got our wheels to turn in and and and like
- 31:37Speaker 3: I think it just started with like, uh, Pharrell doing
- 31:41Speaker 3: the ad libs and clue clue, like you know, and
- 31:45Speaker 3: from there we actually stole the ad libs but you
- 31:49Speaker 3: guys didn't even get like hit clue, like yeah, we
- 31:51Speaker 3: need some sh no, so we stole it. And then
- 31:54Speaker 3: then he then he heard it and he was like, man,
- 31:56Speaker 3: I gotta fix this, and so like he then went
- 31:59Speaker 3: in the student and redid everything that we did. That
- 32:02Speaker 3: shit's crazy, Yeah, but.
- 32:04Speaker 1: You know, it's just, you know, it's just a feeling.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Like a lot of times you get the feeling in
- 32:07Speaker 3: the studio and it's like, you know, you want to
- 32:12Speaker 3: put it down or put something down as a reference,
- 32:15Speaker 3: as something to so you don't lose it, you know
- 32:17Speaker 3: what I'm saying. And by the time by the time
- 32:20Speaker 3: we by the time we had had had put the
- 32:23Speaker 3: records together like such, we felt like that that needed
- 32:26Speaker 3: to say.
- 32:27Speaker 1: I saw you retweeted or you posted something in your
- 32:30Speaker 1: story that someone that tweeted, and you pretty much feel like,
- 32:34Speaker 1: can you write me a song that says this? There
- 32:36Speaker 1: is essentially kind of just saying that, you know, you've
- 32:40Speaker 1: you've done such a great job of taking what we
- 32:46Speaker 1: love about hip hop in a nostalgic way, but never
- 32:49Speaker 1: making it but always kind of keeping it up to
- 32:52Speaker 1: date at a high level, and there are artists who
- 32:56Speaker 1: haven't been able to do that. We're either from your
- 32:58Speaker 1: era or before your era that might have some like
- 33:02Speaker 1: resentment towards what you guys do. Of course, is that
- 33:06Speaker 1: something that you're you feel more now than ever?
- 33:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it's always I've always felt it. I've always felt it,
- 33:12Speaker 3: but I you know, I just it was just weird
- 33:15Speaker 3: to see somebody say it. I was like, man, I've
- 33:17Speaker 3: just something I've never said, you know, and you know, uh,
- 33:22Speaker 3: it was it was. It was great, It was It
- 33:24Speaker 3: was just great to see, yeah, and know that people
- 33:26Speaker 3: are just tuned in and paying attention.
- 33:28Speaker 1: For sure. Yeah, what's your guys favorite song on this album?
- 33:32Speaker 1: I'm sure it's different Free Chi You, but ever it
- 33:34Speaker 1: might be the same.
- 33:34Speaker 4: Well, I like I catered to uh pov pov is crazy.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Yeah. Yo, these poor guys trying to get fifty five
- 33:42Speaker 1: hundred dollars bookings.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Man, and they live.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Can they get back? Can they go get it back? End?
- 33:48Speaker 3: Can it properly? They can't live properly. It's tough. It
- 33:55Speaker 3: is tough, man.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Not all money is good money.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Not all money is good money at all. Oh, you know,
- 34:02Speaker 3: I don't know, man.
- 34:03Speaker 1: I'm I'm, I'm, I'm fight.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Oh I'm so far ahead, I'm like, that's crazy. I'm
- 34:09Speaker 3: I'm a couple of different places, I mean, and then
- 34:11Speaker 3: like God sort them out.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I'm I'm everywhere. And you guys, did I mean the
- 34:15Speaker 1: two singles that you guys released are like yeah, oh yeah,
- 34:19Speaker 1: you know I'm trying to stay away from those records,
- 34:22Speaker 1: are all? Yeah, I appreciate it. Yeah, Like, man, how
- 34:28Speaker 1: hard is it to get like a cause album cover again?
- 34:31Speaker 1: Because it's one thing to do it once, but to
- 34:33Speaker 1: do it twice It's just like showing.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Off causes family. Yeah, his family causes family.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Do you guys have a crazy collection of the figures?
- 34:42Speaker 3: No, No, I think I got a bunch of original
- 34:47Speaker 3: fake scars and stuff. Yeah, I mean, I think I
- 34:49Speaker 3: got a lot of got a lot of original fake
- 34:52Speaker 3: clothes I got, I got art, got art and bought art.
- 34:57Speaker 1: What's the most expensive piece of art you bought, push man,
- 35:00Speaker 1: It might have been I might have got, I might
- 35:03Speaker 1: have bought. I might have bought.
- 35:05Speaker 3: What's that that it's around?
- 35:10Speaker 1: It's around cause piece?
- 35:11Speaker 3: I think I bought it for Steven's birthday.
- 35:15Speaker 1: You ain't never seen it? Oh yeah, how much? How
- 35:18Speaker 1: much was it?
- 35:19Speaker 3: The six figures?
- 35:20Speaker 1: Jesus? Yeah? What is something that you were able to
- 35:25Speaker 1: learn being the president of Good which is obviously, you know,
- 35:30Speaker 1: one of the most iconic in hip hop history, and
- 35:32Speaker 1: you're at the you know, at the head of it
- 35:34Speaker 1: for so long that you're able to now apply to
- 35:39Speaker 1: being an independent artist now.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Man, I just think I think that when you're at
- 35:43Speaker 3: the helm of something, you know, you don't want to
- 35:49Speaker 3: be the helm of something that that that that that
- 35:52Speaker 3: everybody's not all in together at it. You know what
- 35:56Speaker 3: I'm saying, Like president of Good Music out the head,
- 36:01Speaker 3: being in the mix of it, it doesn't mean yeah.
- 36:04Speaker 1: I don't mean ithing just a title salary, nice check
- 36:08Speaker 1: and this is a check. It's funny because said this
- 36:12Speaker 1: and I want to know your perspective. He essentially said,
- 36:15Speaker 1: the Rosewood era was the most together everybody was. I
- 36:19Speaker 1: can I can definitely go for that. Everybody was. I
- 36:22Speaker 1: remember y'all had them suits for sure. And then he
- 36:26Speaker 1: I mean, obviously the Good Friday era was so special.
- 36:30Speaker 1: It was good all the way up into like you know,
- 36:32Speaker 1: I mean even cool like Cruel Summer was crazy, he said.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Then everybody started to just go crazy and it just
- 36:38Speaker 1: became like a thing like where everybody was just.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Kind of Noah, I don't think everybody went crazy. I
- 36:43Speaker 3: think everybody did what they were supposed to do, and then.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Two Chains becomes like the fucking biggest motherfucker on the planet. Yeah,
- 36:49Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like crazy times.
- 36:51Speaker 3: I think I think that's what I think, that's what
- 36:54Speaker 3: was supposed to happen. I feel like everybody was supposed
- 36:56Speaker 3: to do they thing.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Have you had any conversations with Sean lately?
- 36:59Speaker 3: No?
- 37:00Speaker 1: No, how's your guys? Just like, are you guys good? Yeah,
- 37:03Speaker 1: because I feel like he kind of was the first
- 37:05Speaker 1: guy to kind of like be.
- 37:06Speaker 3: Like yeah, no, yeah, yeah, me and Seawan.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Good talk to me about touring? Man, is there going
- 37:14Speaker 1: to be a tour that's associated with this album.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Third is the first date. Yeah, twenty five dates, twenty
- 37:20Speaker 3: five days. We kind of closed right now is July ninth?
- 37:24Speaker 1: Were less than a month away? Yeah, and this is
- 37:26Speaker 1: is it? I mean, how long has it been since
- 37:28Speaker 1: you've I mean, you guys have been spot dates. You
- 37:30Speaker 1: guys have in the festivals and stuff. But for you,
- 37:32Speaker 1: for you, Malice, it's like the grind dog Like.
- 37:35Speaker 2: I'm ready for it though, Like I'm committed, man.
- 37:38Speaker 4: Yeah, when when I decided, you know that the clips
- 37:42Speaker 4: that we decide it's going to be a thing again,
- 37:44Speaker 4: Like I don't have any reservations. Just come out here
- 37:47Speaker 4: and get back in front of the people and showed
- 37:50Speaker 4: his great body of work.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Yeah for sure. Yeah. Was there was there any anything
- 37:56Speaker 1: on the project Malice that you because of just who
- 38:01Speaker 1: you are and and like you know, we've known why
- 38:04Speaker 1: you stepped away from the music. Was there a topic
- 38:07Speaker 1: or was there anything where you were like.
- 38:08Speaker 4: Nah, and and you know coming back and like I said,
- 38:13Speaker 4: the commitment, I didn't I didn't have any preconceived notions
- 38:18Speaker 4: or any stipulation. Yeah, we can do that, but just
- 38:21Speaker 4: we just cannot You can't do it.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Yeah, hints hints me.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Going back to the name malice, like I didn't want
- 38:27Speaker 4: to come back to clips with a twists or like
- 38:31Speaker 4: if we're going to do clips, We're gonna do clips,
- 38:34Speaker 4: you know, and that's what we're doing.
- 38:36Speaker 5: Yo.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Whatever happened to play close?
- 38:40Speaker 2: Oh?
- 38:40Speaker 1: Man, we it just ran its course.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it was ten years I think it was.
- 38:46Speaker 1: I mean it was huge. Yeah. No, we had a
- 38:48Speaker 1: good run. Man.
- 38:49Speaker 3: I feel like we had a good run yesterday.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I think we had a good run. Would you
- 38:55Speaker 1: guys ever, I mean, do another clothing line? I think so.
- 38:58Speaker 3: I mean, if it, if it calls for I mean,
- 39:01Speaker 3: I think that's something that you got to be into,
- 39:03Speaker 3: you know, fully fully invested and have and man, seeing
- 39:08Speaker 3: just how clothing lines are these days and seeing you know,
- 39:12Speaker 3: what makes I've been able to look at the inside
- 39:15Speaker 3: and see what makes them successful. So it's just having
- 39:17Speaker 3: you know, you got to kind of put together a
- 39:19Speaker 3: team to execute all of these things, and that takes
- 39:23Speaker 3: a lot. It's not just this is not the day
- 39:26Speaker 3: of just tagging your name on a t I work
- 39:29Speaker 3: like that.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I saw you guys talking to Elliott. You said that
- 39:32Speaker 1: Tyler was the biggest Clipster. Yeah, there was, and I
- 39:36Speaker 1: think having I mean, obviously you guys have worked together before,
- 39:39Speaker 1: but trouble on my mind is crazy by the way,
- 39:42Speaker 1: But talk about just like being like present in a
- 39:48Speaker 1: time where you're able to see your real life influence
- 39:53Speaker 1: on somebody who's like one of the biggest rappers on
- 39:57Speaker 1: the planet. Like, I don't know if that makes y'all
- 40:00Speaker 1: feel older, it makes y'all feel like, yeah, we did
- 40:02Speaker 1: something here, like because it's crazy because prints are all
- 40:06Speaker 1: over so much of this culture.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you know, it's something that's something to uh,
- 40:11Speaker 3: something to appreciate, and especially when they get it right,
- 40:14Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying.
- 40:15Speaker 1: It's like.
- 40:17Speaker 3: It's like it's like it's like when somebody flips a
- 40:19Speaker 3: great sample, you know what I'm saying, And it's like,
- 40:23Speaker 3: you know, as long as the records fire, it's like,
- 40:26Speaker 3: what is it? You know, what is it to?
- 40:30Speaker 1: You know?
- 40:30Speaker 3: How can you look at it other than greatness?
- 40:33Speaker 1: I'm curious. Back in the day, what were because you
- 40:37Speaker 1: guys probably had your first picket any Neptune's beat, you wanted.
- 40:43Speaker 1: What's the record y'all passed on that you regret or
- 40:48Speaker 1: you were like Damn we could have Like.
- 40:50Speaker 4: Damn, I tell for all the time I wanted past
- 40:53Speaker 4: the Okay, he was like really wanted that.
- 40:55Speaker 2: You could have had that.
- 40:57Speaker 3: Yeah, we didn't. We didn't pass on this record, but
- 41:01Speaker 3: it was the one that just got away. But throw
- 41:06Speaker 3: Them Bows Oh yeah, Ludu Crispy.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Yeah, did you guys cut something to that? No, no, no,
- 41:12Speaker 1: we did.
- 41:13Speaker 3: We didn't get the opportunity to, like it was just
- 41:16Speaker 3: but you heard it in the studio. Lula was there, diligent,
- 41:19Speaker 3: you know, it was like.
- 41:22Speaker 1: That's actually probably like when we think about like the Neptunes,
- 41:25Speaker 1: just like discography, like that's one of the ones we
- 41:28Speaker 1: forget about that beats fucking forget about that one. Please.
- 41:33Speaker 1: That shit's crazy.
- 41:34Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, throw Them Bows was one to like.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Crazy. Yeah, that's tough. And at this point, you guys,
- 41:43Speaker 1: you know, I feel like Forel's not super active, like
- 41:46Speaker 1: he's so focused on the fashion ship. So you guys
- 41:48Speaker 1: just get the cream of the crop right now.
- 41:50Speaker 3: I think, yeah, I think we I think there's there's
- 41:53Speaker 3: something to be said about us all being in there
- 41:57Speaker 3: and just the standard that we all have and vision
- 42:01Speaker 3: that we all have for clips that we we understand
- 42:06Speaker 3: like we collectively understand what it has to be.
- 42:09Speaker 1: I saw you push say that, like, no, no, nobody's
- 42:13Speaker 1: better than Mob Deep essentially when it comes to the
- 42:15Speaker 1: duo talk, and I consider du those groups. So like
- 42:21Speaker 1: my group tier is like Outcast number one and it's
- 42:23Speaker 1: Food Tank Tribe, and then I got I got Mob
- 42:25Speaker 1: Deep in y'all like in whatever order company. Yeah, but
- 42:29Speaker 1: I'm curious, like, man, when you guys this is y'all
- 42:34Speaker 1: four for four at this point, you know what I'm saying,
- 42:36Speaker 1: Like spanning over what O two? Yeah? Oh two. I
- 42:41Speaker 1: was a junior in high school when Lord Willing came out.
- 42:45Speaker 1: I mean, this is obviously it's four albums, but it's
- 42:49Speaker 1: very I mean our Cast was four album, five albums.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Maybe you know what I'm saying, Like, do you guys
- 42:55Speaker 1: start Do you guys ever think about where you with
- 42:57Speaker 1: this album and and just the impact that it's making
- 43:00Speaker 1: where you guys, Like you guys keep moving up these
- 43:03Speaker 1: tiers when it comes to just these all time conversations.
- 43:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I think it's good man. I mean,
- 43:11Speaker 3: I I just love the company that it that it is.
- 43:15Speaker 3: I've seen the list the other day, and I mean
- 43:20Speaker 3: just being in the I think we were we were
- 43:22Speaker 3: nine or something nine it was it was twenty two,
- 43:28Speaker 3: it was nine and then but it's like nine as
- 43:31Speaker 3: epmd is mob was in there. Yeah, it was like
- 43:37Speaker 3: bro okay, right, sit us, next step, that's fine.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, as long as we're in that convo. Yeah,
- 43:44Speaker 1: we're in that convo.
- 43:45Speaker 3: And I mean listen, man, I mean we got fifteen
- 43:47Speaker 3: year break, Like it's there are things that.
- 43:52Speaker 1: You know.
- 43:54Speaker 3: That we need to you know that some more more
- 43:58Speaker 3: things that we need to do. I guess, Steven, keep
- 44:01Speaker 3: moving up the up, the up the convo.
- 44:04Speaker 1: I feel like push, You've like bullied your way into that,
- 44:07Speaker 1: like at least personally for me. I mean, like I said,
- 44:09Speaker 1: I have you really really high. I have my personal list.
- 44:12Speaker 1: I got you super high. I got Freddi Gibbs like
- 44:14Speaker 1: ridiculously high too. I got Kendrick really high. But I
- 44:17Speaker 1: feel like you, as like just you are are in
- 44:21Speaker 1: that top ten like conversation.
- 44:23Speaker 3: I hope so easily, man, I hope.
- 44:25Speaker 1: So man, you are the rapper that bullies the rapper
- 44:28Speaker 1: that bullies the rappers.
- 44:31Speaker 3: I hope, so man, I want to be I definitely
- 44:34Speaker 3: look to be being those conversations. Yeah, like you know,
- 44:37Speaker 3: I don't you know. I mean, it's all about making
- 44:42Speaker 3: the music first. It's all about making the music first
- 44:45Speaker 3: and making it great and just making the the experience. Yeah,
- 44:50Speaker 3: it's not about it.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you know it's not entitled to this.
- 44:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you gotta put the worm man.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta put the time and you got quality control. Yeah,
- 45:02Speaker 1: And it ain't about a whole bunch of like you know, uh,
- 45:07Speaker 1: it's about what you know the next thing, Like, I
- 45:10Speaker 1: don't you know, I don't want to even reminisce too
- 45:13Speaker 1: much about you know, what I did or what this
- 45:16Speaker 1: Like we got two classics, Yeah, let's make four more? Right?
- 45:20Speaker 1: Is the battery in your guys's back as a group,
- 45:24Speaker 1: because listen, Malice, I don't want to. I don't want to, like,
- 45:28Speaker 1: you know, ten years down the line we get an
- 45:30Speaker 1: album number five, Like is this something where this energy?
- 45:34Speaker 4: I think I think now is the time to do it,
- 45:37Speaker 4: you know, I think now is the time to do it.
- 45:39Speaker 4: It's no stopping, no chilling, Like, if we're gonna do it,
- 45:42Speaker 4: we're gonna do it now.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Because you guys did this album relatively quick in terms
- 45:46Speaker 1: of the recording time.
- 45:48Speaker 3: Two years, two years, well maybe a year and a half.
- 45:51Speaker 1: I mean for you guys, is it like.
- 45:55Speaker 3: And that was mostly because of scheduling tours over.
- 45:58Speaker 1: We're gonna hang out with the family. We're gonna relax
- 46:00Speaker 1: a little. Yeah. Is there gonna be a push album?
- 46:03Speaker 1: Is it back in for a Clips album? We got
- 46:07Speaker 1: some music, We got some music. We've never had a
- 46:09Speaker 1: Malice solo album. We've had a No Malice solo We've
- 46:13Speaker 1: had two of those. Yeah, So it's like it's just
- 46:17Speaker 1: it's just seeing how everything feels after tour.
- 46:20Speaker 3: Yeah, but we're definitely in work mode.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Or are you independent as a solo artist? Yeah? So
- 46:27Speaker 1: everything free reign man.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I love it.
- 46:34Speaker 1: In this world in which we you know, I think
- 46:37Speaker 1: you talk so much about like the climate of just
- 46:41Speaker 1: this content space man, where you know, everything's so microwavable
- 46:47Speaker 1: and and it's so much low hanging fruit energy in
- 46:50Speaker 1: the world of entertainment, whether it's music, whether it's media,
- 46:54Speaker 1: whether it's you know, even like movies, they don't even
- 46:57Speaker 1: try to make new movies nowhere, they just remake it,
- 47:00Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. It feels like that's the
- 47:01Speaker 1: era that that we've been in the last six seven years.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Is there anything from anybody who's newer or is there
- 47:10Speaker 1: a newer artist that does inspire you, guys that that
- 47:12Speaker 1: you guys have taken that you haven't worked with, that
- 47:15Speaker 1: you guys have taken like liking to where you're like, yo,
- 47:18Speaker 1: they're doing it the right way. They're taking their time
- 47:20Speaker 1: there intentional. I'm you know what I like. I like
- 47:24Speaker 1: a lot of.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Movements, Like I just like the movements, and and when
- 47:27Speaker 3: it comes to the younger artists, I like how they
- 47:31Speaker 3: are able to really uh round their fan bases up
- 47:35Speaker 3: and and and and and have like these rabid moments,
- 47:39Speaker 3: whether it's they're selling merge, whether it's there you know,
- 47:43Speaker 3: everybody's running uh you know, running the download to stream
- 47:46Speaker 3: it or whatever the case may be. I see that
- 47:49Speaker 3: a lot more than anything else. You know, Tyler is
- 47:55Speaker 3: really good, I believe it, getting out his full thought
- 47:59Speaker 3: and get people locked into his maybe the best movie.
- 48:03Speaker 3: Yeah he to me, Yeah, he's definitely one of the
- 48:06Speaker 3: best at it to me. But you know he's it's him,
- 48:13Speaker 3: you know it's him. And like I said, another, a
- 48:14Speaker 3: lot of the other younger guys, it's more about really
- 48:19Speaker 3: getting it out the mud and watching them get it
- 48:20Speaker 3: out the mud and having their rabid fan base.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Was there ever anybody you tried to sign that it
- 48:28Speaker 1: just didn't work out or there was a disagreement on
- 48:31Speaker 1: mm hmm. Nah.
- 48:34Speaker 3: I mean I feel like it. I feel like it good.
- 48:37Speaker 3: We tried to do the whole Chief Keith thing. That's how,
- 48:40Speaker 3: that's how they don't like someone came about. But yeah,
- 48:44Speaker 3: I mean that was for everybody that was That was Keith,
- 48:47Speaker 3: that was Dirk, everybody.
- 48:49Speaker 1: You guys are trying to get in on Dirk.
- 48:50Speaker 3: Everybody. We only hit saw it one way, so we
- 48:54Speaker 3: didn't you know, we never saw it.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Separated already was together.
- 48:59Speaker 3: Yeah, and we thought, you know, Chop was there, so
- 49:02Speaker 3: it was like Chop this spirk it.
- 49:04Speaker 1: Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, it's crazy too because I
- 49:07Speaker 1: saw I just saw you did and I've I've booked
- 49:10Speaker 1: you at a club before, but I just saw you
- 49:12Speaker 1: did Vegas. Yeah. It's like I saw someone post the
- 49:15Speaker 1: clip and I'm like, you were doing the move that
- 49:17Speaker 1: dope verse and I was like, man, it's crazy to
- 49:19Speaker 1: think like you have that pocket that we don't even
- 49:23Speaker 1: think about. Yeah, like if you got to do like
- 49:26Speaker 1: like you're you're all like these like massive like trap
- 49:30Speaker 1: records that you could do forever. Yeah you know what
- 49:33Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like like they don't like remixes.
- 49:36Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's an all time right fun man, fun fun.
- 49:42Speaker 3: I think you know that's part of just you know,
- 49:44Speaker 3: the era in which of hip hop we come from,
- 49:47Speaker 3: Like you know, we watched Hole Beyond Ha, like you
- 49:50Speaker 3: know that's these are the things that you you know
- 49:53Speaker 3: you do and you you and the show appreciation too,
- 49:56Speaker 3: like you know you I like those records.
- 49:59Speaker 1: Be a Forigner Grease, all time great album. By the way,
- 50:02Speaker 1: all right man, well look the tours on the way
- 50:04Speaker 1: the album is. By the time you're watching this, the
- 50:06Speaker 1: album is going to be out. Are the merch collabs
- 50:10Speaker 1: going to keep going or now that the album's out,
- 50:12Speaker 1: have is it? Are they stopping? I think we got
- 50:15Speaker 1: a couple left. There's some more in the chamber.
- 50:17Speaker 3: I think we got a couple of collabs left.
- 50:21Speaker 1: You know, you guys. I feel like whenever we see
- 50:23Speaker 1: the first week numbers, you guys are gonna have a
- 50:26Speaker 1: great first week because it feels like the energy and
- 50:28Speaker 1: then now because when I when people bad first week,
- 50:32Speaker 1: I don't know, but I mean, tell me first of what,
- 50:34Speaker 1: it doesn't matter.
- 50:35Speaker 3: No, no, no, I want to know.
- 50:36Speaker 1: I don't know. I want to know former label president, sir.
- 50:41Speaker 3: What's a bad first week?
- 50:43Speaker 2: Man?
- 50:43Speaker 1: But no, no, because I feel like you guys have
- 50:45Speaker 1: done such a good job of making people want to
- 50:47Speaker 1: go by the physical media. There's all these different versions
- 50:50Speaker 1: of the album. You guys. I think it was the
- 50:52Speaker 1: Verdi collab with the white vinyl. There's the norm. I mean, man,
- 50:57Speaker 1: it's just been it's been incredible to watch.
- 51:00Speaker 3: Man. Yeah, it's I think it's gonna be good. Man.
- 51:04Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be really good.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Are you are you for you like push? I wonder
- 51:13Speaker 1: is it in your head? Because I think jack Boys
- 51:16Speaker 1: is coming out to the Travis thing. Oh, I don't know,
- 51:19Speaker 1: is it? Do you think that was on purpose? Oh?
- 51:21Speaker 3: Man, I think it's I think it's whatever it was.
- 51:24Speaker 3: It's good because I think people need to be able
- 51:27Speaker 3: to a and be the music. I think that's what
- 51:29Speaker 3: I think. That's the biggest thing.
- 51:31Speaker 1: You guys have so many of the same friends, though, Man,
- 51:33Speaker 1: you would think. No, actually don't get it. I know
- 51:37Speaker 1: I don't have No, I don't I promise you, I don't.
- 51:46Speaker 1: I mean you guys sii's friends with Travis.
- 51:49Speaker 3: You know is my guy, that's my brother, he said.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Let me be clear, we don't you'll be able to
- 51:58Speaker 1: compare this cavea are to whatever that is. Well, I
