Latest / Ross and Rizzo Unfiltered / Ross & Rizzo WORLD SERIES PREVIEW: Brewers vs. Rays for first EVER championship | MLB Playoffs
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: For the first time, Rossi, one franchise will be a
- 0:03Speaker 1: World Series champion. Never won in Tampa. They never won
- 0:06Speaker 1: in Milwaukee. So that whole franchise, the fan base, it
- 0:11Speaker 1: should be, from a fan standpoint, an amazing World Series.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome back to another episode of Ross and Rizzo Unfiltered.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I'm Anthony Rizzo with my partner, David Ross. Rossi, we
- 0:25Speaker 1: are here. The fall classic, the World Series, the mecca
- 0:28Speaker 1: of baseball will run through Tampa Bay and Milwaukee. Game
- 0:33Speaker 1: one on Friday up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Brew Crew
- 0:38Speaker 1: versus the Rays, Rossi. We are finally here at the
- 0:42Speaker 1: World Series.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I need your help. I need your help. I'm going to,
- 0:46Speaker 2: I'm heading out today to get up there and do
- 0:50Speaker 2: pre and post for ESPN. Do I take my rings?
- 0:52Speaker 2: You don't take your rings, right? You don't take I've
- 0:55Speaker 2: got a world series watch from Boston with Boston strong
- 0:58Speaker 2: that Hubo made for us. It's really cool. Like, do
- 1:00Speaker 2: I get a little flashy? It's not really my style,
- 1:03Speaker 2: but I take any of the rings to wear or
- 1:05Speaker 2: just wait till like, if we get to a game seven,
- 1:08Speaker 2: then I bring out all the hardware. What are your thoughts?
- 1:10Speaker 2: I need, I need some, I need some, uh, what
- 1:12Speaker 2: do you call it? Stylist advice.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Uh, I don't, I'm not, I don't personally wear the
- 1:16Speaker 1: world series. My only ring world series ring. You have two. So, uh, I,
- 1:23Speaker 1: Boston and Chicago is pretty– that's a flex, Rossi, for sure.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 1: I don't know. I think maybe game seven. Okay. Yeah,
- 1:35Speaker 1: I agree. I agree.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Bring out all the hardware, the jewelry for game seven.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Let it get a little flashy. Bring out the suit.
- 1:40Speaker 2: I'll probably wear like a sport coat, some slacks. You know,
- 1:43Speaker 2: when you go to game seven, then it's like pull
- 1:46Speaker 2: out the tux almost. You know, get it all going. So,
- 1:49Speaker 2: all right. All right, I just needed some advice on that.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Yeah, you're going to look really nice and snazzy there
- 1:54Speaker 1: on your big ESPN pre and post. I'm excited to
- 1:57Speaker 1: watch you. I like when you get all media savvy there.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Buttoned up tie. Who's working the game with you?
- 2:09Speaker 2: I've got, it would be, everybody would be popping in.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Otto's there, but I don't think he's with us. It's
- 2:13Speaker 2: me and Curt Shin, and Eduardo's doing radio. A bunch
- 2:18Speaker 2: of those guys will be around. Buster, I think, will
- 2:20Speaker 2: all be around, but popping on the desk. But on
- 2:22Speaker 2: the desk is Kevin Agande, me, and old Timmy K.
- 2:26Speaker 2: So Timmy K's got all the history, bro. That guy's the,
- 2:29Speaker 2: he's like literally my favorite. I've got dinner with him
- 2:31Speaker 2: and Eduardo tonight. So excited. Excited to get there. Excited
- 2:35Speaker 2: for this thing to start.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Brewers.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Rays let's give the folks a rundown of how we
- 2:42Speaker 2: got here.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I mean bro two of the best teams the best
- 2:46Speaker 1: teams in the American League and National League Brewers 103
- 2:50Speaker 1: and 59 won the NL Central one seed best record
- 2:54Speaker 1: in all of baseball right they had the first round
- 2:57Speaker 1: by everyone always wants to talk about the layoff between
- 3:02Speaker 1: rounds they come out they beat the Padres three to
- 3:06Speaker 1: one in that division series. They sweep the Dodgers, which
- 3:13Speaker 1: I said in a show before, no one saw that coming.
- 3:16Speaker 1: And they've just played a really clean brand of baseball.
- 3:19Speaker 1: They've had big hit after big hit. They get punched.
- 3:22Speaker 1: They come back. One team scores. They score again. They
- 3:27Speaker 1: score again after. They just keep applying pressure. So Jackson
- 3:31Speaker 1: Cherio has been great. Jake Bowers has been amazing. William Contreras, amazing.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Terang.
- 3:36Speaker 1: You know, Christian Yelich, big hits. The whole team offensively
- 3:40Speaker 1: feels like they're gelling. They have that vibe, it seems like,
- 3:43Speaker 1: in the clubhouse led by Pat Murphy. And their pitching
- 3:47Speaker 1: is dominant. You know, Mizorowski leads it, and their back
- 3:50Speaker 1: end of their bullpen has been basically flawless.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Yeah, and then on the flip side, we've got the
- 3:57Speaker 2: best team in the American League, the third-best record behind
- 4:00Speaker 2: the Brewers and Dodgers during the regular season. going up
- 4:04Speaker 2: to Milwaukee. Milwaukee's got home field advantage, which I think
- 4:08Speaker 2: is going to play big into this. Both teams have
- 4:10Speaker 2: been great at home. The Rays not as great on
- 4:14Speaker 2: the road, but they get started and win their division
- 4:20Speaker 2: and get a bye as well.
- 4:21Speaker 1: A little layoff.
- 4:22Speaker 2: They come in, sweep the Yankees, and then obviously just
- 4:25Speaker 2: the series that just ended between them and the Cleveland
- 4:28Speaker 2: Guardians was back and forth. Very intense, and I felt
- 4:32Speaker 2: like The Rays just got better as the series went
- 4:35Speaker 2: on and went deeper and deeper there. The bats got better.
- 4:38Speaker 2: You saw the guys out of the bullpen and mix
- 4:40Speaker 2: and match and what Kevin Cash is doing. I'm excited
- 4:43Speaker 2: about this matchup. Chandler Simpson, Aranda, Yandy Diaz, Junior Caminero.
- 4:51Speaker 2: We got all the boys, all the stars in two
- 4:54Speaker 2: small markets. These guys have really made names for themselves
- 4:59Speaker 2: in this postseason. And this is the time of year
- 5:01Speaker 2: where you really put your stamp on, you know, your
- 5:04Speaker 2: moment in baseball. And somebody, a few guys, I think,
- 5:07Speaker 2: will have moments throughout this series. And I think it's
- 5:11Speaker 2: going to go long, too. I don't think it's going
- 5:14Speaker 2: to be, you know, you touched on it already, the
- 5:17Speaker 2: layoff for the Brewers. Is that going to be a
- 5:19Speaker 2: factor at this point? You know, they're going to have
- 5:22Speaker 2: to get back to their rhythm and their at-bats. somebody's
- 5:26Speaker 2: going to have a moment. Somebody's going to make a
- 5:28Speaker 2: name for themselves in this postseason. I can't wait to
- 5:30Speaker 2: see who it is.
- 5:32Speaker 1: No doubt. Bro, for the first time, Rossi, one franchise
- 5:37Speaker 1: will be a World Series champion. Never won in Tampa.
- 5:42Speaker 1: They never won in Milwaukee. So that whole franchise, the
- 5:45Speaker 1: fan base, it should be, from a fan standpoint, an
- 5:50Speaker 1: amazing World Series, right? If you're a visiting fan going,
- 5:53Speaker 1: if you're From Milwaukee, you're going to Tampa. You're Tampa
- 5:55Speaker 1: going to Milwaukee. I feel like the fan experience should
- 5:59Speaker 1: be really special. I remember in 16 how special it
- 6:02Speaker 1: was between the Indians fans at the time. They were
- 6:05Speaker 1: the Indians and the Cubs, right? Teams that have not
- 6:09Speaker 1: won in, you know, the Indians didn't win in 50
- 6:14Speaker 1: plus years. We haven't won in 108. So the fan
- 6:17Speaker 1: experience is really cool. So I'm looking forward to that.
- 6:19Speaker 1: That fan experience should be something special because, you know,
- 6:23Speaker 1: you have, You have families that grew up diehard Tampa
- 6:26Speaker 1: Bay Rays fans, right? The franchise has been there for
- 6:28Speaker 1: as long as people have been alive now. And same
- 6:30Speaker 1: with Milwaukee, where a lot of history, you know how
- 6:34Speaker 1: the people of Wisconsin feel about the Packers. You know,
- 6:37Speaker 1: the Bucs won a championship in Milwaukee, and now the
- 6:41Speaker 1: Brewers are there. So really cool that first-time World Series
- 6:44Speaker 1: champion winner. I am worried, Rossi, something that just to
- 6:50Speaker 1: look for in this series is is if the Brewers
- 6:53Speaker 1: go down game one, they haven't really been punched at
- 6:57Speaker 1: all yet. It's been, bro, they've lost one game since
- 7:01Speaker 1: September 21st. You know what I mean?
- 7:05Speaker 2: They're rolling. They're rolling.
- 7:07Speaker 1: If they lose two games in a row and go
- 7:09Speaker 1: down 2-0, that's a fucking, like, that's a haymaker they're
- 7:12Speaker 1: taking early, you know? It's a long seven-game series, but
- 7:17Speaker 1: that's one thing early to look out for is If
- 7:21Speaker 1: they do get punched, they've shown every bit of resiliency
- 7:27Speaker 1: to respond. It's just they haven't been punched.
- 7:29Speaker 2: In a minute. Yeah, and I agree with you. I
- 7:32Speaker 2: think I was looking at kind of the matchups, and
- 7:36Speaker 2: if I was going to predict who wins game one
- 7:39Speaker 2: against the Miz and Rasmussen on the mound going at it,
- 7:44Speaker 2: I want to lean towards Rasmussen. the raise because of
- 7:48Speaker 2: the lack of the layoff Rasmussen can really pitch. The
- 7:51Speaker 2: Miz hasn't had his moment yet in the postseason. I
- 7:53Speaker 2: know he's a horse, but he's looked, you know, for
- 7:57Speaker 2: lack of a better term, I don't think it's a
- 7:59Speaker 2: negative thing I'm trying to say.
- 8:00Speaker 1: He's looked human?
- 8:02Speaker 2: He's looked, yeah, like, he's just looked young, right? Like,
- 8:05Speaker 2: in some of that, you can tell he's amped up,
- 8:07Speaker 2: and harnessing that is one of the things you learn
- 8:10Speaker 2: as you are in the league, get to the postseasons
- 8:13Speaker 2: a lot, and the more you've kind of stepped up. But,
- 8:15Speaker 2: On the other hand, he's had two outings that were fine.
- 8:19Speaker 2: It just wasn't his dominant self. I could really see
- 8:22Speaker 2: him stepping up and dominating game one. But if I
- 8:25Speaker 2: was going to pick, I would pick the Rays because
- 8:27Speaker 2: of the rhythm that they're in and with Rasmussen on
- 8:29Speaker 2: the mound. So that being said, how does Milwaukee bounce back, right?
- 8:34Speaker 2: And if they do get punched in the face, what
- 8:37Speaker 2: does that look like? I think the teams that can
- 8:39Speaker 2: steal a game on the road may have a chance
- 8:42Speaker 2: to really win this because of how well these teams
- 8:45Speaker 2: both play at home. I'm excited about the atmosphere in Milwaukee.
- 8:49Speaker 2: The tailgating is going to start, I think, probably somebody's
- 8:52Speaker 2: going to be cooking breakfast in the parking lot over there.
- 8:56Speaker 2: And there will be a lot of Miller Highlifes being
- 8:58Speaker 2: thrown around, I'm sure, that day for this series. I'm
- 9:04Speaker 2: super looking forward to how Milwaukee comes out because Milwaukee,
- 9:09Speaker 2: Just the eye test that we've seen, they've been the
- 9:11Speaker 2: better team in the postseason. As dominant as they've been,
- 9:15Speaker 2: their at-bats, their willingness to take walks. Just add on. Yeah,
- 9:20Speaker 2: and it's a full-team effort. I just feel like they've
- 9:22Speaker 2: looked better, but we know how baseball is. That whole
- 9:27Speaker 2: dynamic doesn't matter once you get punched in the face.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Yeah, you said about Miz, right? And Miz versus Rosserson
- 9:33Speaker 1: in Game 1, which is an elite pitching matchup.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Miz.
- 9:37Speaker 1: has had a swing and whiff rate on his fastball
- 9:40Speaker 1: at 40% during the regular season. In the postseason, small
- 9:44Speaker 1: sample size, right?
- 9:45Speaker 2: Only what?
- 9:45Speaker 1: 8-12 innings? 16% on his fastball. So, the Rays swing
- 9:52Speaker 1: and miss the least in all of baseball. So that
- 9:54Speaker 1: 105 is not going to phase them I feel like
- 9:58Speaker 1: everyone's throwing 100 but I mean look this is going
- 10:01Speaker 1: to be the for sure Cy Young candidate it would
- 10:04Speaker 1: be great for him to go 6 or 7 and
- 10:06Speaker 1: just absolutely dominate the game right for him his stake
- 10:11Speaker 1: for that whole staff for the whole organization but yeah
- 10:15Speaker 1: those are numbers like 60% swing and miss as opposed
- 10:17Speaker 1: to 40 like for me, I'm looking at everything. Like,
- 10:23Speaker 1: is he tipping his fastball? Is he tipping a, is
- 10:25Speaker 1: he tipping a change? Like, is he tipping one pitch? Right.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Like I always look into those, those, cause that's a
- 10:31Speaker 1: huge numbers drop off. Well, and the Rays don't, they're,
- 10:35Speaker 1: they're the best team at putting the ball in play.
- 10:37Speaker 1: They don't, they swing and miss the least of everybody
- 10:40Speaker 1: in major league baseball. So yeah, he's going to have
- 10:44Speaker 1: a tough matchup.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Like you know, I thought Junior Caminero kind of came
- 10:47Speaker 2: on late for the raise offensively, but his at-bats kind
- 10:51Speaker 2: of got emotional here and there at times, and he
- 10:54Speaker 2: started kind of getting locked in a little bit later
- 10:56Speaker 2: in that series, so he's going to need to take
- 10:59Speaker 2: another step forward for me in this series. Yandy keep
- 11:02Speaker 2: doing what he's doing. Aranda's a big factor. I think
- 11:05Speaker 2: both catchers, you know, I love talking about the catchers.
- 11:08Speaker 2: You've got two good ones in Liam Hicks and William Contreras,
- 11:11Speaker 2: and You know, these two guys have been in the
- 11:14Speaker 2: middle of it all, and the challenging aspect, they've both
- 11:19Speaker 2: been pretty good at it from a catching standpoint. They've
- 11:21Speaker 2: gotten big hits. They've gotten homers. I think William had
- 11:25Speaker 2: an easy chance to be the MVP of the last round.
- 11:30Speaker 2: You know, again, both teams are so evenly matched in
- 11:36Speaker 2: so many areas that, you know, it's hard for me
- 11:39Speaker 2: to see this thing not going, you know, I think
- 11:42Speaker 2: it's going to be seven games.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I hope we get a game set. That would be great.
- 11:45Speaker 1: That would be amazing. You know, these teams are, yeah, right.
- 11:48Speaker 1: It's going to come down to the big hits, the
- 11:50Speaker 1: situational hitting, the little things, which these teams are the
- 11:53Speaker 1: best at, right? It's really the product and brand of baseball.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Like I know we've talked about them being smaller markets
- 12:01Speaker 1: and Major League Baseball, obviously for network television, you always
- 12:06Speaker 1: want the bigger markets, but the product of baseball is,
- 12:09Speaker 1: with these two teams is such an old school feel.
- 12:13Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 12:13Speaker 1: Where it's like they're bunting, they're moving guys over. Fuck,
- 12:16Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a couple hit
- 12:18Speaker 1: and runs in this series, Rossi. We haven't seen that
- 12:20Speaker 1: since you were playing. You know what I mean?
- 12:24Speaker 2: I put a couple of those on when I managed,
- 12:25Speaker 2: and I was like, that feels good when it works out.
- 12:27Speaker 1: That feels good.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Nobody hit and runs, I don't think, anymore. Nobody moves
- 12:31Speaker 2: the baseball. Hey, you know who I'm pumped for is, like,
- 12:35Speaker 2: freaking Johnny Peralta, like, Freddy Fastball. I'm sorry, not Johnny Peralta.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Freddy Peralta. I played against Johnny Peralta in shortstop for Cleveland.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Freddy going back to Milwaukee and that dynamic. He had
- 12:52Speaker 2: such a great career there. Got traded away and now
- 12:56Speaker 2: he's back in the biggest moments. I hope he gets
- 12:59Speaker 2: a standing ovation at announcements when that starts on Friday.
- 13:04Speaker 2: That's going to be really cool to see him back
- 13:05Speaker 2: in that environment pitching against his guys and He's he
- 13:08Speaker 2: faced him once with the Mets this year, and I
- 13:10Speaker 2: don't think it turned out too well. So we'll see
- 13:13Speaker 2: how he bounces back. Obviously he's a different version now
- 13:16Speaker 2: than he was when he was with the Mets, but
- 13:19Speaker 2: I don't, that'll be, that'll be a lot of fun.
- 13:21Speaker 1: That'd be a lot of fun. No doubt, bro. I mean,
- 13:24Speaker 1: Jake Bowers played for the Rays, right? Yeah. He's the Brewers.
- 13:28Speaker 1: So there's a lot of, there's a lot of personal
- 13:31Speaker 1: storylines that I'm sure will blossom throughout this world series
- 13:35Speaker 1: and come to light.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Um, Rasmussen was traded for Adamas. Did you know that?
- 13:40Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 13:43Speaker 2: So, yeah. There's some good stuff. There's some good stuff in,
- 13:46Speaker 2: like you said, the underlying. So, hey, like what are,
- 13:50Speaker 2: if you're picking some key factors for a team to win,
- 13:55Speaker 2: like what would those be? What do you think needs
- 13:58Speaker 2: to happen for both these teams because they're so evenly matched?
- 14:02Speaker 1: I think whoever's bullpen doesn't break, right? Like, you can
- 14:06Speaker 1: maybe bend a little bit, but the Brewers have the
- 14:09Speaker 1: best bullpen all season. They have a 1-3. They've been
- 14:13Speaker 1: unhittable in the postseason thus far. They're not overworked. Both
- 14:17Speaker 1: bullpens haven't been too exposed yet, right? So that's the
- 14:23Speaker 1: biggest key. I mean, guys are going to have to
- 14:26Speaker 1: have timely hits, but which guys in the bullpen are
- 14:30Speaker 1: going to really even step up even more and just
- 14:32Speaker 1: dominate these games? Cause you know, the managers are obviously,
- 14:36Speaker 1: they go to them, they grow them early to go
- 14:38Speaker 1: off and they're their safety blankets. And these, these guys
- 14:42Speaker 1: that call me the offensive lineman, they're down there and they're,
- 14:45Speaker 1: they're your, they're the, they're infantry. They're, they're front of
- 14:47Speaker 1: the line. Like they're your guys.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Right.
- 14:49Speaker 1: So that's my biggest one.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Adam, Adam Dunn used to call him the kickers. All
- 14:53Speaker 2: the pitchers were kickers on the team going to his
- 14:57Speaker 2: football background. I'm, I'm with you, man. The, the, the
- 15:01Speaker 2: Brewers bullpen, when you're talking about your rebate, Aaron Ashby, McGill.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Aaron Ashby to me is such an important factor. The
- 15:10Speaker 2: guy can give you multiples. His stuff is absolutely electric.
- 15:13Speaker 2: And they've got guys all around him that are great
- 15:16Speaker 2: that can pick up the slack if he has an
- 15:19Speaker 2: off night. And I do think this Brewers team carries
- 15:23Speaker 2: that kind of grit and toughness that it feels like
- 15:28Speaker 2: their manager brings as well. And Murphy, it's crazy because
- 15:33Speaker 2: their bullpen's been so dominant. 12 in a third innings,
- 15:38Speaker 2: no runs allowed for Ashby. Like, he's been dominant. Thanks, Chris.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Chris Tran, shout out with that stat.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Yeah. You know what, Rossi? Can the Brewers, they hit
- 15:49Speaker 1: the second fewest home runs throughout the regular season. And Milwaukee,
- 15:54Speaker 1: what is it, family? Whatever, Miller Park, I call it. Yeah,
- 15:58Speaker 1: American Family Field, I think it is now. American Family Field,
- 16:00Speaker 1: there it is, sorry. To the American families out there
- 16:03Speaker 1: at the field. Write that.
- 16:06Speaker 2: That was good.
- 16:07Speaker 1: They hit the second fewest home runs in the big
- 16:11Speaker 1: leagues throughout the season. And that's a great park to
- 16:16Speaker 1: hit in, Rossi. I mean, that place flies. Sure. So,
- 16:21Speaker 1: and this postseason, it's been totally reversed. They've hit 10
- 16:24Speaker 1: home runs in seven games. William Couturier has three. Couturier
- 16:27Speaker 1: has two. Mitchell has two. Jake Bowers. You know, David
- 16:31Speaker 1: Hamilton has one. So, can they keep that up with
- 16:35Speaker 1: this dominant race pitching staff, right? Obviously, they kind of
- 16:38Speaker 1: relied on the long ball a little bit to an extent.
- 16:41Speaker 1: They obviously don't need to win with the long ball.
- 16:43Speaker 1: They've proven that all year. In the race, these guys
- 16:47Speaker 1: hit home runs. Like, Yandy hits home runs. Junior Caminero
- 16:50Speaker 1: hits home runs. So, dude, it's just up and down
- 16:54Speaker 1: each lineup. As a baseball fan, as a fan of
- 16:57Speaker 1: the game, you're excited. Like, yeah, hands down.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Well, when you're talking about the offenses, you mentioned a
- 17:03Speaker 2: bunch of those names, but it is those guys, you know,
- 17:08Speaker 2: five through five, six, seven, eight in the lineup. Those
- 17:11Speaker 2: guys that have quality at bats get on base, get
- 17:14Speaker 2: the big hit when these other guys are taking their
- 17:17Speaker 2: walks or if you're not letting certain guys beat you
- 17:20Speaker 2: in the lineup. Um, those are the guys become extremely
- 17:23Speaker 2: valuable like that. Like, you know, the eight hole hitter,
- 17:25Speaker 2: like me going deep in game seven. It's not about me,
- 17:28Speaker 2: but just want to throw it out that there was,
- 17:30Speaker 2: I was a big hit, uh, one by one. I'm
- 17:32Speaker 2: just saying, um, but just kidding. All it's kidding aside.
- 17:37Speaker 2: It is the, it is a full team dynamic and the,
- 17:41Speaker 2: the lineup that the brewers have. And I'm trouble. We're
- 17:43Speaker 2: talking so much about the brewers just cause I, I love, uh,
- 17:47Speaker 2: just how they've played this year as a whole, and
- 17:50Speaker 2: then the postseason has just carried on. That's why I
- 17:52Speaker 2: feel like that factor is, that layoff factor is so important,
- 17:55Speaker 2: but I feel like their lineup is just a little
- 17:57Speaker 2: bit deeper than the Rays right now, but we'll see.
- 18:01Speaker 2: We'll see how this thing plays out.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I think an X factor for me from both teams,
- 18:06Speaker 1: I want to hear your X factors. One for me
- 18:08Speaker 1: for the Rays is Yandy Diaz, right? He hits the
- 18:11Speaker 1: home run. He calls game in game six of the
- 18:15Speaker 1: championship series. He hits a home run on that. He
- 18:19Speaker 1: can manipulate the baseball. He's a pure hitter, right? And
- 18:23Speaker 1: he's feeling good going into this where you have to
- 18:25Speaker 1: worry about Caminero as well. But Yandy, I don't think,
- 18:29Speaker 1: is going to let the moment get too big, right?
- 18:32Speaker 1: A lot of, you know, the Brewers have had a
- 18:35Speaker 1: week now to drink the Kool-Aid, to feel good about themselves.
- 18:39Speaker 1: They go anywhere in Milwaukee. They go to dinner. It's
- 18:41Speaker 1: a small town up there. Oh my God, World Series,
- 18:44Speaker 1: this and that. So that experience now, playing in the
- 18:49Speaker 1: playoffs for a few years. Like let's see these young
- 18:51Speaker 1: guys when they get in that big situation, if they
- 18:53Speaker 1: try to hit the five run Homer, or are they
- 18:55Speaker 1: just trying to move the time? I know Yanni Diaz
- 18:58Speaker 1: for the race. We'll just keep moving the line. Right.
- 19:01Speaker 2: That's a great point.
- 19:02Speaker 1: He's a big X factor for me. And then I
- 19:05Speaker 1: think you rebate for the brewers. Like he is, he
- 19:09Speaker 1: is Pat Murphy's guy. He's his go-to guy. He he's
- 19:12Speaker 1: got a lot of rest now. So they're that bullpen's
- 19:16Speaker 1: fully recharged and reloaded. So he's going to be a
- 19:19Speaker 1: huge X factor for them.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Man. I love that.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I love that.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Those picks a Kevin cash said as Yandy Diaz goes,
- 19:26Speaker 2: so does our offense. So, um, I think my X
- 19:28Speaker 2: factor is probably, you know, I talked about the two
- 19:31Speaker 2: catchers who I think are really important. Uh, I think
- 19:34Speaker 2: Chandler Simpson is a, is a guy that doesn't get
- 19:37Speaker 2: the kind of attention because he plays a different game. Um,
- 19:42Speaker 2: You know, and he just causes havoc. He makes other
- 19:45Speaker 2: guys better when he's on the bases, when he's putting
- 19:47Speaker 2: the ball in play, button hitting– hidden run or not
- 19:50Speaker 2: hitting runs as much but like you know the chaos
- 19:53Speaker 2: that he creates uh on the bases and just slapping
- 19:56Speaker 2: the ball and beating them out and then your pitcher
- 19:58Speaker 2: has to be quick to the plate um that guy
- 20:01Speaker 2: can cause havoc and make some other some pitcher try
- 20:03Speaker 2: to be quick and hang one to somebody who's going
- 20:04Speaker 2: to hit a homer so Um, I think Chandler Simpson is,
- 20:07Speaker 2: is a big key to this along with Liam Hicks,
- 20:10Speaker 2: as I talked about. And then, you know, as you
- 20:12Speaker 2: said with the Rays, I think Wilson Contreras, the offense
- 20:16Speaker 2: goes through him. Um, and, and Bryce Terang, those two
- 20:20Speaker 2: guys for me are a real key factors at the top.
- 20:23Speaker 2: I know the bullpens are going to be important. Uh,
- 20:25Speaker 2: I think if I was going to pick somebody, Aaron Ashby,
- 20:27Speaker 2: it is going to be a key factor, but, uh,
- 20:31Speaker 2: I just love when Wilson Contreras is locked in. It's
- 20:34Speaker 2: like the guy just has a knack for the moment
- 20:38Speaker 2: and getting big hits. And him and Bryce Turing. I
- 20:40Speaker 2: don't think Bryce Turing has shown what he can do yet.
- 20:43Speaker 2: And watching him play a lot. I think he's a
- 20:46Speaker 2: freaking superstar. And I'd love to see him go off.
- 20:49Speaker 2: You know, there's so many guys that we can name
- 20:51Speaker 2: that are key factors. But I think those are the
- 20:53Speaker 2: ones that come to mind. Yeah. I love that.
- 20:55Speaker 1: I do for... The sake of him and how good
- 20:59Speaker 1: of a player he has been throughout his entire career.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I hope Christian Jelic comes up in a big spot
- 21:05Speaker 1: and delivers. He deserves it. He is the face of
- 21:07Speaker 1: that franchise. He's been there, what, I think this is
- 21:10Speaker 1: his ninth season.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Yep.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Just overall, great dude. Easy to root for. Ross, we
- 21:17Speaker 1: didn't talk about this much, but Pat Murphy and Kevin Cash.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Just amazing. two frontline dudes right i remember when i
- 21:28Speaker 1: was with the yankees when we were rolling one year
- 21:31Speaker 1: and i saw cash uh down there at the trop
- 21:33Speaker 1: because you always have to walk by their clubhouse and
- 21:36Speaker 1: i just talked to him for a second hey cash
- 21:38Speaker 1: what's up man hey riz how you doing he's a
- 21:39Speaker 1: man you guys are fucking playing really good baseball right
- 21:42Speaker 1: now like it's fun to watch like just that that
- 21:45Speaker 1: the fact that we just went in there probably beat
- 21:46Speaker 1: them two out of three and like Just a human-to-human, like, bro,
- 21:51Speaker 1: you guys are really good right now. It's fun to watch.
- 21:53Speaker 1: I cherish that conversation with him because you don't really
- 21:56Speaker 1: get that from opposing managers. You know what I mean?
- 22:00Speaker 1: Just good dudes. And same with Pat Murphy, man. Just
- 22:03Speaker 1: good dudes. And it's so easy to go against your manager.
- 22:10Speaker 1: It's so easy to bash the manager and always the decisions.
- 22:13Speaker 1: It's so easy for that, right? It's Monday morning quarterbacks.
- 22:16Speaker 1: But these guys are just so good at what they're
- 22:18Speaker 1: doing and leading these guys. It's fun to watch.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Yeah, they're true leader men. And I think, you know,
- 22:24Speaker 2: if you're talking about advantages for the managerial experience, it's
- 22:30Speaker 2: just like everything else. They're so evenly matched, both these teams.
- 22:33Speaker 2: I think it's the same with the managers. Like, Pat
- 22:34Speaker 2: Murphy's done everything that you could do in baseball, pretty much,
- 22:38Speaker 2: except for win a World Series. And I think, you know,
- 22:42Speaker 2: watching him, how he interacts and how those guys– back
- 22:45Speaker 2: him has been, like you've said, something that stood out
- 22:49Speaker 2: to me, just the edge that they carry. And I
- 22:52Speaker 2: think that's a direct reflection of how he manages. And
- 22:54Speaker 2: then Cash is such a baseball guy. I've known him
- 22:56Speaker 2: a really long time, played against him here in college.
- 22:59Speaker 2: He went to school here at FSU in Tallahassee, played
- 23:02Speaker 2: with him in Boston. Like he is a baseball rat
- 23:05Speaker 2: and he's been in these moments. He's going to know
- 23:08Speaker 2: how to handle them. And those guys seem to rally
- 23:12Speaker 2: around you know, when Yandy hit that homer at the end,
- 23:16Speaker 2: I saw him go up to Cash and say something
- 23:18Speaker 2: probably about, I told you this thing was over, and
- 23:21Speaker 2: he smiled. So, you know, I think he's got a
- 23:24Speaker 2: great relationship, but he also has a standard that he
- 23:28Speaker 2: has set there that these guys have fallen into, and
- 23:30Speaker 2: he's done a lot of winning in a really small
- 23:32Speaker 2: market with not superstars, and he's been on the stage.
- 23:36Speaker 2: So very evenly matched from the coaching standpoint, too. And
- 23:41Speaker 2: the managers and the players, that's why I just think
- 23:43Speaker 2: we're in for a really good series of a back-and-forth
- 23:46Speaker 2: series is because it's hard to say this team's so
- 23:49Speaker 2: much better than the others.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Yeah, no, this is as even as it gets, right?
- 23:53Speaker 1: I don't even know what the Vegas odds are, but
- 23:57Speaker 1: they've got to be pretty even.
- 23:58Speaker 2: I'll tell you what the polymarket picks are. I'll tell
- 24:03Speaker 2: you here. Brewers are 60% to the yes. 100% gets
- 24:05Speaker 2: you back 162%. And the Rays are 40% to the yes.
- 24:13Speaker 2: $ 100 gets you back $ 237. The fact that it's so
- 24:17Speaker 2: evenly matched.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Well, that's for game one. That's the game one pick.
- 24:20Speaker 2: That's for game one, yeah. Game one. Game one pick
- 24:23Speaker 2: for me, D. Ross, in third person, is I'm going
- 24:29Speaker 2: with the Rays. 40% just seems super low with the
- 24:33Speaker 2: Rays being 40% to the yes and kind of underdogs.
- 24:36Speaker 2: I think, like I said, that The factor for me
- 24:38Speaker 2: is that layoff. If that layoff is real, I think
- 24:41Speaker 2: Drew Rasmussen carves them up and they get some big
- 24:43Speaker 2: hits and they roll because that offense looked a lot
- 24:45Speaker 2: better the more they played.
- 24:48Speaker 1: I agree with you. I think the Rays are going
- 24:51Speaker 1: to go in there and steal game one. They've only
- 24:53Speaker 1: had a couple days off as to where the Brewers
- 24:55Speaker 1: have had a week off. I know the Brewers players
- 25:00Speaker 1: have stayed locked in. I know their camaraderie is real,
- 25:04Speaker 1: but you know, world series game one is different, bro.
- 25:07Speaker 1: It's different nerves. Like when you're standing on that line,
- 25:11Speaker 1: you know, when the national anthem and whoever's singing it,
- 25:14Speaker 1: like you're in the world series, right? So there's a
- 25:17Speaker 1: lot of emotions. This is what you, every single player
- 25:21Speaker 1: has dreamed about their entire life is playing in the
- 25:24Speaker 1: world series, right? This is your kid childhood dream. So
- 25:28Speaker 1: those emotions start running through you deep. And I wouldn't
- 25:33Speaker 1: be surprised if, if, the Brewers come out a little flat, right?
- 25:37Speaker 1: Like maybe one time around the lineup just to kind
- 25:40Speaker 1: of get their groove. And if the Rays jump on
- 25:42Speaker 1: them early, I think the Rays steal game one.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I saw a video yesterday where Sanchez, a backup catcher,
- 25:51Speaker 2: went deep in their little sim game and ran and
- 25:54Speaker 2: trotted around the bases. So maybe they are locked in.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, they're probably. And that play's going to
- 25:59Speaker 1: be loud, you know?
- 26:00Speaker 2: It's going to be loud.
- 26:01Speaker 1: There's not going to be any rain delays.
- 26:03Speaker 2: That's right.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Weather is not an issue, which is crazy.
- 26:08Speaker 2: There's something about the warm summer air and a cold
- 26:11Speaker 2: corona with lime that makes the roar of the crowd
- 26:13Speaker 2: sound a lot like the roar of the waves.
- 26:16Speaker 1: That's because this is our playa, and the best seats
- 26:18Speaker 1: are always wherever you're sitting.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Whether it's a weeknight game under the lights or a
- 26:22Speaker 2: Sunday afternoon in the sun, you know baseball isn't about
- 26:25Speaker 2: rushing around. It's about settling in, letting the game come
- 26:28Speaker 2: to you. And nothing pairs better than an ice-cold corona.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Nothing. So find your seat, your Corona, and your line,
- 26:37Speaker 1: because real fans know the only thing better than nine
- 26:40Speaker 1: innings is extra innings, especially on La Playa. Corona. La

- 27:00Speaker 1: What's up, guys?
- 27:01Speaker 2: I need to tell you about this new prediction market
- 27:03Speaker 2: called Polymarket. It's the best new way to trade in sports.
- 27:07Speaker 2: In the past, if you wanted action on the game,
- 27:09Speaker 2: you'd put some money in, and if your team was
- 27:11Speaker 2: doing well and you wanted to cash out, they'd lock
- 27:14Speaker 2: the trade and take a huge fee. But Polymarket is
- 27:17Speaker 2: a prediction market. It's a stock exchange for sports, buying
- 27:20Speaker 2: in and selling out on your terms. I've tried them all,
- 27:23Speaker 2: and Polymarket is simply the best prediction market. Better than DraftKings, FanDuel, Calshi,
- 27:29Speaker 2: you name it. They're so confident you'll never go back
- 27:31Speaker 2: to the other guys. They're giving you a free $ 25
- 27:33Speaker 2: on your first trade when you deposit just $ 10. And
- 27:36Speaker 2: now they've launched a new feature, Squads, a group chat
- 27:40Speaker 2: where you can see what everyone is trading. So download
- 27:43Speaker 2: the Polymarket app today and use the code RossRizzo when
- 27:46Speaker 2: you sign up. That's code RossRizzo and get $ 25 free
- 27:50Speaker 2: after you deposit just $ 10.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Bro, let's get to some news around MLB, right? We're
- 27:57Speaker 1: talking about our predictions. How... Can the Milwaukee Brewers win
- 28:04Speaker 1: the World Series if they're not honoring these timeless tickets
- 28:09Speaker 1: that they sold? How about that? So, for people who
- 28:14Speaker 1: aren't familiar, the Brewers in 2014 sold 1,000 timeless tickets
- 28:20Speaker 1: for $ 1, 000 each. In 2014, the team wasn't very good.
- 28:24Speaker 1: And the ticket could be redeemed for the best ticket
- 28:27Speaker 1: available at future games. No limitations. So imagine getting this
- 28:33Speaker 1: timeless ticket. You're a diehard, right? Well, I'm going to
- 28:36Speaker 1: get this timeless ticket. I got to go to 20
- 28:38Speaker 1: games a year. They go to the World Series? Are
- 28:40Speaker 1: you kidding me? And now they're saying the Brewers have apologized.
- 28:46Speaker 1: The ticket they gave will not count as their timeless
- 28:48Speaker 1: ticket redemption for the World Series. What the fuck?
- 28:55Speaker 2: I saw. How do you do that? I saw this
- 28:57Speaker 2: a couple of days. I think I'm going to blank.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Is it PFT, the barstool guy? Yeah, and Big Cat. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Or one of those guys. I'm blanking on his name
- 29:10Speaker 2: right now. They offer them standing room only. That's brutal, bro.
- 29:14Speaker 2: And he was like, oh, boy, the Brewers look so good.
- 29:18Speaker 2: They look like the best team in the World Series.
- 29:20Speaker 2: But the juju may be off.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Are you kidding me?
- 29:24Speaker 2: The juju. Bro, you can't. Come on. And these are
- 29:28Speaker 2: the people that paid $ 1, 000 12, 13 years ago. Right?
- 29:29Speaker 2: When the team's crap.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Right?
- 29:30Speaker 2: How do you not honor? these, Rossi?
- 29:40Speaker 1: First off, ticket prices on the secondary platform, shout out SeatGeek,
- 29:46Speaker 1: are inflated because these are tickets people already purchased and
- 29:50Speaker 1: are winning. If you purchase tickets, like if you're a
- 29:53Speaker 1: seasoned ticket holder and you purchase these tickets, good seats,
- 29:56Speaker 1: you know, in the club level are costing you $ 1, 000
- 30:00Speaker 1: a game, $ 1, 500 a game if you get the package.
- 30:03Speaker 1: So you're telling me the Brewers aren't going to honor
- 30:06Speaker 1: this to these diehard fans that bought these tickets? They
- 30:12Speaker 1: have made so much money going to the postseason. They're
- 30:16Speaker 1: about to host two more World Series games. The owners
- 30:18Speaker 1: have made so much money here. How do you not
- 30:22Speaker 1: honor this? It's just a beautiful sentiment, too. The Brewers
- 30:27Speaker 1: should be, in my opinion... rallying around these timeless tickets.
- 30:31Speaker 1: They should put them all together and, like, roll out
- 30:34Speaker 1: the red carpet for these ticket holders.
- 30:37Speaker 2: I saw where somebody had said that as well.
- 30:40Speaker 1: They should be holding the flag game one, you know? Like,
- 30:43Speaker 1: you know how they get the season ticket holders that
- 30:45Speaker 1: are holding the big American flag? Like, it should be
- 30:46Speaker 1: the time. You should make them feel so special and loved. And, like,
- 30:50Speaker 1: I thought this was honestly fake news when I was
- 30:54Speaker 1: reading it. Like, there's no way the Brewers aren't honoring this, right?
- 30:57Speaker 1: Am I crazy?
- 30:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:58Speaker 1: No, no.
- 31:00Speaker 2: I think they're starting to walk it back, the last
- 31:03Speaker 2: thing I read. They have to.
- 31:04Speaker 1: It's okay to walk it back.
- 31:05Speaker 2: They have to. They do need to make it special.
- 31:11Speaker 2: It's so funny, man. Greed gets in the way sometimes
- 31:15Speaker 2: for all of us, I guess. But this is such
- 31:19Speaker 2: a swing and miss, no pun intended, when you're talking
- 31:24Speaker 2: about putting these guys in the nosebleeds or standing room only.
- 31:29Speaker 1: And they can redeem it for a different game.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:32Speaker 1: For every game.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Like, come on, bro. We signed up for. Yeah, that's right.
- 31:36Speaker 2: That wasn't, that's what, that's not what we talked about.
- 31:38Speaker 2: You know, it's like, that's like you going down to
- 31:41Speaker 2: buy a car and it's like, you get down there.
- 31:42Speaker 2: It's like, wait a minute. What is it? Even the
- 31:44Speaker 2: car I wanted. This is, this is brutal. I didn't
- 31:47Speaker 2: even ask for this model.
- 31:48Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Like probably terrible analogy, but yeah, man, I hope, I
- 31:52Speaker 2: hope they get it right. I know that place is
- 31:54Speaker 2: going to be rocking, but, It definitely is a swing
- 31:58Speaker 2: and miss from the Brewers people.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Yeah, still time, though. Still time.
- 32:04Speaker 2: We've got time.
- 32:05Speaker 1: To make amends, right?
- 32:07Speaker 2: Get them out there. Get the people. They should be
- 32:10Speaker 2: the ones sitting right behind home plate. You know they're
- 32:13Speaker 2: going to wreak havoc. A thousand bucks back in the day.
- 32:17Speaker 2: That's like those people that get those lifetime benefits. They
- 32:21Speaker 2: pay an airline and fly forever for the rest of
- 32:24Speaker 2: their life for free. That's what they got. What a
- 32:27Speaker 2: good purchase that was.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Maybe you're not front row, but at least second deck.
- 32:33Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Good seats. Maybe not the
- 32:38Speaker 1: left field foul pole and left fielder. Give them decent seats.
- 32:44Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 32:45Speaker 1: I don't know. I feel like fans are what drive
- 32:47Speaker 1: the game. And you did this promotion in 14. And
- 32:50Speaker 1: who knows if the people are there who were part
- 32:52Speaker 1: of that promotion anymore. But the promotion happened. The tickets
- 32:56Speaker 1: were sold. You have to honor your fan base. Yeah.
- 33:00Speaker 2: And they got a cool little gold ticket. They got
- 33:02Speaker 2: a cool little gold ticket on a plaque. I saw
- 33:04Speaker 2: it was like they put it in a nice box,
- 33:06Speaker 2: the whole thing. Yeah. And now, thanks for the gift.
- 33:11Speaker 2: I want the ticket somewhere decent where I can see. Yeah.
- 33:15Speaker 1: I want to sit on Bernie's slide. When you are
- 33:16Speaker 1: factoring that in, when you are factoring that in, that does,
- 33:20Speaker 1: the juju is real. So that's. For sure.
- 33:24Speaker 2: These are the diehards of all diehards.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Now the Brewers are backs against the wall against something
- 33:27Speaker 1: that is out of their control, right? Controllables, like we
- 33:31Speaker 1: can't control that, but it's definitely a little, you know,
- 33:34Speaker 1: like the curse back in the day.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Well, we got some more news. Your name came up
- 33:38Speaker 2: in a press conference. Your New York Yankees kind of
- 33:42Speaker 2: gave a State of the Union yesterday with Booney being back,
- 33:46Speaker 2: Cashman signs a new deal, Hal Steinbrenner kind of addressing
- 33:51Speaker 2: just what his thoughts are on the season and what
- 33:54Speaker 2: Brian Cashman has done and did last year and was
- 33:58Speaker 2: pretty happy with that. A little bit of a shot,
- 34:03Speaker 2: you know, a little shots fired. catching strays from the
- 34:06Speaker 2: offense and saying they didn't produce. But what was that like?
- 34:11Speaker 2: You know, the fact that they brought up guys like
- 34:15Speaker 2: you that have been there talking about a rod CC,
- 34:18Speaker 2: different guys, maybe not mentioned personally, but having comments about
- 34:25Speaker 2: mixing some things up because, you know, from an outsider's perspective,
- 34:29Speaker 2: like it, They did have a good season. It was
- 34:31Speaker 2: a good team. They just didn't finish. And the Rays,
- 34:34Speaker 2: you know, the Rays beat them in their division and
- 34:36Speaker 2: played well. But, you know, kind of some stuff you
- 34:39Speaker 2: had talked about came up. What did that feel like?
- 34:41Speaker 2: How that hit you? And what are your thoughts on
- 34:43Speaker 2: that press conference?
- 34:44Speaker 1: I loved it. I mean, look, they didn't win the
- 34:47Speaker 1: World Series, right? And as a Yankee fan, the expectation
- 34:51Speaker 1: is we're going to win the World Series every single year.
- 34:54Speaker 1: That's the motto as a Yankees fan. It's, bro, I
- 34:58Speaker 1: was watching the interview and it's, people always ask is,
- 35:02Speaker 1: is the New York media harder than Chicago? Right. Do
- 35:06Speaker 1: you go and watch those interviews? The questions that were
- 35:08Speaker 1: being asked were questions. I'm like, I cannot believe they
- 35:13Speaker 1: asked that question type stuff. Like these reporters are bulldogs
- 35:18Speaker 1: and they're doing their job and it's nothing but respect for,
- 35:23Speaker 1: for the porters. But they asked some brutally honest upfront questions,
- 35:27Speaker 1: which you want to hear. It's just, they ask you, damn, like,
- 35:30Speaker 1: And I thought Booney did an amazing job at taking
- 35:33Speaker 1: all the questions, taking all the heat. He's asked about
- 35:36Speaker 1: his legacy, if he doesn't win, and the success he's had,
- 35:41Speaker 1: but losing to winning teams. And it's like, look, we
- 35:44Speaker 1: haven't won. And until we do, we're going to work
- 35:47Speaker 1: tirelessly to do that. And playing there and being a
- 35:53Speaker 1: player there, they... they use their resources, right? How said,
- 35:56Speaker 1: like we put all of our resources into trying to
- 35:59Speaker 1: figure this out. Cashman said the same thing, you know,
- 36:02Speaker 1: and open-minded trying to get better. And that is a
- 36:07Speaker 1: hundred percent true playing there. Right. So as a fan watching, like,
- 36:13Speaker 1: what do you want them to say?
- 36:15Speaker 2: Right.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I know all the Yankees fans are angry. They haven't
- 36:18Speaker 1: won in some time now. And you know, coming with
- 36:22Speaker 1: New York, it's like, unless there's a crucifixion, no one
- 36:24Speaker 1: will be happy, which isn't fair. But they said, you know,
- 36:29Speaker 1: they're going to look into stuff. They're going to try
- 36:31Speaker 1: to change it. It's kind of similar to stuff they've
- 36:33Speaker 1: said in the past, but again, it's, it's for them
- 36:37Speaker 1: to stand up there and answer the questions the way
- 36:40Speaker 1: they did and be professional, like kudos. I mean, that's
- 36:43Speaker 1: who they are. They're, they're, they're a standup organization and
- 36:46Speaker 1: I know they're putting everything in to get better. It's just,
- 36:49Speaker 1: Now the little things of winning, right? Winning is hard.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Cashman said it. Like, let's not lose sight of how
- 36:55Speaker 1: hard winning is. And if you're a Yankees fan, this
- 36:58Speaker 1: league is as competitive as ever. Buying a championship doesn't
- 37:03Speaker 1: exist anymore. You can't just buy championships anymore. Not that.
- 37:07Speaker 2: That's what I was going to say.
- 37:08Speaker 1: You know, the teams still have to go out and win, right?
- 37:11Speaker 1: The Dodgers still had to go win. And they won
- 37:14Speaker 1: by inches last year, right? So... it's so hard to
- 37:20Speaker 1: win and Booney has done a good, really good job.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Have the utmost respect for him. And I even gained
- 37:26Speaker 1: more respect for him. Not that that means anything, but
- 37:29Speaker 1: the way he answered all those questions yesterday, bro, is
- 37:31Speaker 1: he's such a pro.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Yeah. He, he, he's one of the best managers in
- 37:35Speaker 2: the game for me. I know he hadn't won a
- 37:37Speaker 2: world series, but the way, I mean, that market is different.
- 37:40Speaker 2: That putting on those pinstripes, as you know, I don't
- 37:43Speaker 2: know is different. You know, I, I go back to like,
- 37:47Speaker 2: my days in Boston and it's similar there. Like it's a,
- 37:50Speaker 2: it's a hard media to ask. I will, after a
- 37:52Speaker 2: game one time I was catching and somebody gave up
- 37:54Speaker 2: a walk, walk off or a, a go ahead home
- 37:58Speaker 2: or late Tampa who was chasing us in 08. And
- 38:02Speaker 2: I had a reporter come in and asking me about
- 38:04Speaker 2: what the scouting report was, how we were trying to
- 38:07Speaker 2: pitch him, what we were trying to do, what happened,
- 38:09Speaker 2: like they were going in depth. And it was the
- 38:10Speaker 2: first time in my career was early in my career.
- 38:12Speaker 2: First time in my career where, like, whoa, it's a
- 38:15Speaker 2: little different here. These guys are going to ask you
- 38:17Speaker 2: real baseball questions, and I'm with you. I watched some
- 38:21Speaker 2: of that and watched how Booney kept his patience on
- 38:24Speaker 2: some of those really hard questions. It's easy to get
- 38:26Speaker 2: frustrated and be accountable over and over again. Look, he
- 38:31Speaker 2: loves it there, and he thinks he's got a lot
- 38:33Speaker 2: of people in the right place, as he said, and
- 38:36Speaker 2: the thing that I love was the honesty of like, yeah,
- 38:38Speaker 2: I haven't won the whole thing, and not just for
- 38:42Speaker 2: this organization, these fans, but for myself. That's why I
- 38:45Speaker 2: came here. That's why you manage. Why I wanted to manage,
- 38:48Speaker 2: it's not because you love managing every single day and
- 38:52Speaker 2: that grind, although that is part of it, but the
- 38:55Speaker 2: goal is to get a group of men together to
- 38:57Speaker 2: do something historic, which we've done, which he's done as
- 39:00Speaker 2: a player, and to be a manager and take a
- 39:03Speaker 2: group of men to the World Series and win it
- 39:05Speaker 2: would be the ultimate high to be a part of that.
- 39:08Speaker 2: I think in our lives, when you get out of baseball,
- 39:10Speaker 2: you're chasing that Like those moments that were just so
- 39:14Speaker 2: historic and how to be a part of something special.
- 39:17Speaker 2: And he knows that and said it to the media,
- 39:20Speaker 2: to the public. And I thought that was my favorite
- 39:22Speaker 2: thing that he talked about because it's not just everybody
- 39:25Speaker 2: else's expectations. It's his own. And so I think Brian
- 39:29Speaker 2: Cashman's a hall. of fame GM been doing a long
- 39:31Speaker 2: time has seen and done it all. And I do
- 39:35Speaker 2: like the future moving forward. I know they say that
- 39:37Speaker 2: every year, like you said, but yeah, the offense, you know,
- 39:40Speaker 2: without judge is not maybe a world series caliber offense, but,
- 39:47Speaker 2: when you take Aaron judge out of there, look at
- 39:49Speaker 2: like some of the guys that we're seeing produced right
- 39:52Speaker 2: now on these two teams that are way more well-rounded than,
- 39:55Speaker 2: than the Yankees. You know, they play a little different
- 39:58Speaker 2: style of baseball, obviously. Um, but I, I, I loved it.
- 40:02Speaker 2: I loved all the comments. I love that your name
- 40:03Speaker 2: came up in there and like your opinion matters. Um,
- 40:07Speaker 2: I was like, Whoa, we're doing our job. Good job.
- 40:09Speaker 2: Worldwide world prestige worldwide.
- 40:11Speaker 1: No, but yeah, but the, uh, Yeah, the Yankees, their
- 40:18Speaker 1: offense did stall, you know, and that's what fans here,
- 40:22Speaker 1: you have to acknowledge the fans here in New York,
- 40:25Speaker 1: are like, it's the same thing over and over. I
- 40:27Speaker 1: know I said the same thing. Like, they keep, it's insanity, right?
- 40:30Speaker 1: It's what I said. Because you watch and the offense
- 40:33Speaker 1: stalls throughout the year. It's like, in June, they call
- 40:36Speaker 1: it the June swoon here. The team starts off hot,
- 40:39Speaker 1: gets into a rut. So that's, you know, as a fan,
- 40:42Speaker 1: it's like, bro, I'm a Dolphins fan. The Dolphins are...
- 40:46Speaker 1: This year they fucking are terrible. But in years past,
- 40:50Speaker 1: they went 8-8 every year. Every year, 8-8. And now
- 40:53Speaker 1: there's 17 games, and they're either going to go 8-9
- 40:55Speaker 1: or 9-8.
- 40:56Speaker 2: And it's frustrating. You know what you said that I
- 41:01Speaker 2: also want to make a point? It's like you can't
- 41:03Speaker 2: buy championships anymore. And we talk about the Dodgers, but
- 41:06Speaker 2: they've developed within their system, Will Smith, these guys that
- 41:10Speaker 2: have come up. I know they've went and gotten some guys,
- 41:12Speaker 2: but they've also traded for some of those guys. And
- 41:15Speaker 2: that that has to do with like developing guys in
- 41:17Speaker 2: the minor leagues. And the information puts everybody a lot
- 41:23Speaker 2: closer just strictly on what players are trying to get
- 41:26Speaker 2: and how they play baseball. And so I I thought
- 41:30Speaker 2: back in the day, the big market teams like New
- 41:33Speaker 2: York that won so many championships in a row. We're
- 41:37Speaker 2: able to go out and buy the best players and
- 41:39Speaker 2: make up for player development. You can't really do that anymore.
- 41:43Speaker 1: You need player development. Player development is the number one thing. Development, development, development.
- 41:51Speaker 1: And guys in today's game, this isn't just the Yankees,
- 41:54Speaker 1: this is every organization, get zoomed through the minor leagues now.
- 42:00Speaker 1: There used to be, I remember with the Red Sox,
- 42:03Speaker 1: it was.
- 42:06Speaker 1: You needed a certain number of at-bats in each minor
- 42:09Speaker 1: league spot. Even if you got off to a great
- 42:12Speaker 1: couple months, they wanted you to get at least 200-300 at-bats.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Look at Ben Rice. Look at Ben Rice. Ben Rice,
- 42:22Speaker 2: obviously a good player, but this year had a breakout season.
- 42:25Speaker 2: You bring young guys up, let them find their role
- 42:29Speaker 2: and where they fit into the team, and then all
- 42:31Speaker 2: of a sudden they earn an everyday chance, and They
- 42:35Speaker 2: go off. I mean, there's stories like that around the league.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Not everybody comes up. I think George Lombard Jr. is
- 42:41Speaker 2: going to have some ups and downs for a little bit.
- 42:44Speaker 2: I think he's a great player. I think he's going
- 42:46Speaker 2: to be the shortstop there for a really long time.
- 42:47Speaker 2: I think he's got perfect demeanor for that market, but
- 42:51Speaker 2: also he's not going to be Derek Jeter next year.
- 42:54Speaker 1: He's going to take his lumps. No one will be, right?
- 42:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:56Speaker 1: He's going to take his lumps next year. Spencer Jones
- 42:58Speaker 1: next year. If he's on the team, right, playing every day, like,
- 43:03Speaker 1: needs to play every day, needs to take his lumps.
- 43:06Speaker 1: So it's a fine line, though, when you have these
- 43:10Speaker 1: massive expectations because there's no time for development in the
- 43:15Speaker 1: big leagues when you're trying to win a World Series, Rossi.
- 43:17Speaker 1: So when you're on a team that doesn't have these
- 43:21Speaker 1: crazy expectations, you can go through the two for 28s
- 43:26Speaker 1: multiple times a year and go through the growing pains.
- 43:29Speaker 1: But it's a good problem to be in.
- 43:31Speaker 2: We need to change the subject, but I don't know
- 43:33Speaker 2: that that's, and fair is probably a bad word, but
- 43:36Speaker 2: if you want to be a good organization and be
- 43:38Speaker 2: able to go out and get the Shohei Otani's and
- 43:41Speaker 2: some of these guys that cost, you know, a gazillion dollars,
- 43:45Speaker 2: then you need to develop within and you need to
- 43:47Speaker 2: have a little bit of patience with the young guys
- 43:49Speaker 2: to be able to have them take some lumps and
- 43:51Speaker 2: have a bad season. And I thought they were probably
- 43:55Speaker 2: even more patient with Anthony Volpe. And now he'll be
- 43:57Speaker 2: back probably playing second next year. And, you know, has
- 44:02Speaker 2: been through some adversity and come back and hopefully comes
- 44:04Speaker 2: out of that. But I think you need to, I
- 44:06Speaker 2: need to think you need to, to the fans also
- 44:09Speaker 2: need to recognize, like if we want to be good
- 44:11Speaker 2: for a really long time, we've got to develop within
- 44:13Speaker 2: and we're gonna have to take some patience and hopefully
- 44:15Speaker 2: guys like Aaron judge and Cody Bellinger and, and got
- 44:18Speaker 2: John Carlos Stanton carry the load for a little bit
- 44:20Speaker 2: when these guys struggle a little bit. I know we
- 44:22Speaker 2: need to move on.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Let's get to the braves. Hold on, Rusty, the brave. Sorry.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Okay.
- 44:27Speaker 1: The Braves did as an example with Michael Harris. You know,
- 44:30Speaker 1: they were patient with him, and now look what he
- 44:32Speaker 1: did this year. Last thing with Booney, I love what
- 44:35Speaker 1: he said. Like, they went through a lot of adversity
- 44:37Speaker 1: this year. Losing Aaron Judge is, you know, you're losing
- 44:39Speaker 1: player number one. And that clubhouse, as much noise as
- 44:45Speaker 1: playing for the Yankees, it's just every game is a
- 44:47Speaker 1: one-game playoff. It was like that in Boston, like you said,
- 44:50Speaker 1: and Lester always said. Like, those guys, he's like, these
- 44:54Speaker 1: guys came together. There's no finger-pointing. So... As easy as
- 44:58Speaker 1: it is for us to sit back and be frustrated
- 45:00Speaker 1: as fans, it's a good problem to have winning 93 games.
- 45:04Speaker 1: It's just.
- 45:05Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 45:06Speaker 1: The Yankees can expect everything. Speaking of player development, Rossi,
- 45:12Speaker 1: I'm going to go off script here. The A's hire
- 45:15Speaker 1: new president of baseball operations, Taylor Smith, 31 years old, running,
- 45:22Speaker 1: came from Boston. I believe he started with the Rays.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Good for him. Good for him and his family. He
- 45:27Speaker 1: has a family of 31. I listened to a little
- 45:31Speaker 1: bit of that press conference just saying how he needs
- 45:32Speaker 1: to be better. Every team is player development, analytics, and
- 45:38Speaker 1: then performance. He's like, we want to be better than that.
- 45:40Speaker 1: I think it's exciting for the A's, especially them moving
- 45:43Speaker 1: to Vegas in a couple years. I feel like everything's
- 45:46Speaker 1: building to make that team a really good team. So
- 45:50Speaker 1: congratulations to Taylor Smith, player development, where we're talking about Rousey.
- 45:55Speaker 1: And then let's get to Phillies, Rossi. You know, Dave
- 46:00Speaker 1: Dombrowski saying Trey Turner needs to be better at shortstop. Like,
- 46:03Speaker 1: coming out straight up and saying, you need to be better.
- 46:06Speaker 1: If you played like you played in 2025, he's going
- 46:08Speaker 1: to be our shortstop. If you played like you did
- 46:10Speaker 1: in 2026, he's not going to be our shortstop. And
- 46:12Speaker 1: it's like, all right. Last year was Bryce. This year
- 46:17Speaker 1: is Trey.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Yeah, well, Dave's not going to pull any punches. I've
- 46:22Speaker 2: been around him a little bit, and he's such a
- 46:25Speaker 2: straight shooter. The thing that, the only confusing part to
- 46:29Speaker 2: me on this, like, do you not think Trey Turner
- 46:32Speaker 2: worked on his defense last offseason and tried to, you know,
- 46:35Speaker 2: he was great two years ago, terrible this year. Well,
- 46:41Speaker 2: I just mean, he had a terrible year at shortstop.
- 46:42Speaker 1: You know how many offseasons I worked on my defense?
- 46:46Speaker 2: I just mean his routine was probably the same from
- 46:49Speaker 2: one season to another because he was great last year.
- 46:51Speaker 2: This season, terrible. Sometimes you get in fielding slumps. Yeah,
- 46:57Speaker 2: and maybe it's something mental. I've watched him and it
- 47:00Speaker 2: didn't look clean. What I would say, though, is like, okay,
- 47:05Speaker 2: you've got to come into spring training and prove that
- 47:08Speaker 2: you're better at shortstop. So if he's not, here's my question,
- 47:11Speaker 2: if he's not better at shortstop, Then what? Now we're
- 47:15Speaker 2: having him learn an outfield position, maybe center field.
- 47:18Speaker 1: I think he came up, though, as an outfielder a
- 47:20Speaker 1: little bit, didn't he?
- 47:20Speaker 2: He's a freak athlete. I don't know that. I don't
- 47:24Speaker 2: know that. I think with DC, he did play some
- 47:28Speaker 2: outfield before moving short. But also, now are you going
- 47:33Speaker 2: to criticize him when he's not a great outfielder? Because
- 47:35Speaker 2: he should be working on that the entire season. You
- 47:38Speaker 2: should make a decision now. rather than wait till spring training.
- 47:42Speaker 2: And now you're scrambling if we have a spring training,
- 47:45Speaker 2: but now then you're scrambling to figure out, okay, now
- 47:48Speaker 2: I'm playing outfield every day and I didn't work on
- 47:50Speaker 2: this off season one bit. I don't know. Maybe they
- 47:53Speaker 2: had some behind the door, some closed door discussions about,
- 47:58Speaker 2: you know, trying to like, Hey, also take some balls
- 48:00Speaker 2: in the outfield if this doesn't work out maybe. But
- 48:03Speaker 2: all that, that's the only thing I don't like is
- 48:05Speaker 2: like the uncertainty of like, okay, I'm putting pressure on
- 48:07Speaker 2: myself to have a great spring training and And if
- 48:09Speaker 2: I don't, now I've got to go learn a new position,
- 48:11Speaker 2: and that's going to affect the whole team, not just himself. But,
- 48:16Speaker 2: you know, it's not easy switching positions, as everybody thinks.
- 48:21Speaker 1: What Dave said, too, is it's not like he's wrong, right? No,
- 48:25Speaker 1: he's not wrong. He didn't have a good defensive season
- 48:31Speaker 1: at shortstop, right? 21 errors. He had his lowest OPS
- 48:36Speaker 1: of his career. So, like... look, guys have bad seasons, right?
- 48:41Speaker 1: Trey Turner's track record says, and the person he is,
- 48:44Speaker 1: is going to stay, like, probably has a little fire
- 48:46Speaker 1: lit under his ass, right? Probably a little chip on
- 48:48Speaker 1: his shoulder. So, but it's like the Phillies, right? It
- 48:52Speaker 1: seems like every year they're in that same position of, like,
- 48:56Speaker 1: we're a dominant team, we're a dominant team. They don't
- 48:59Speaker 1: quite win the division. They get in. Red October. They lose.
- 49:03Speaker 1: Heartbreak lose. So, like, I guess being up in New York,
- 49:08Speaker 1: I get a little bit of that Philly radio. Those
- 49:12Speaker 1: dudes in Philly, they don't.
- 49:13Speaker 2: Hold back, man. They do not hold back.
- 49:15Speaker 1: They do not.
- 49:16Speaker 2: Bro, Trey Turner is going into his fifth year of
- 49:19Speaker 2: an 11-year deal.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Yeah that that's uh but again like you invest in
- 49:24Speaker 1: the person you like the player he was right the
- 49:27Speaker 1: player you think he's going to be the person is
- 49:28Speaker 1: he's not going to give up like you're not getting
- 49:31Speaker 1: someone who's just like i'm done you know so they
- 49:34Speaker 1: they hired donnie baseball which good for him and the
- 49:37Speaker 1: family like Mattingly getting another shot at managing. They fire
- 49:42Speaker 1: Kevin Long. Yeah, that's a head-scratcher for me. I always,
- 49:45Speaker 1: I saw Kevin Long this year early in Philly when
- 49:50Speaker 1: they were struggling, right? Like, this was right before they
- 49:53Speaker 1: let go of Rob Thompson. And that was my first
- 49:57Speaker 1: time in Philly doing an NBC game. And Schwarber's like, hey,
- 50:01Speaker 1: come down to the cage when you're done interviewing. Like,
- 50:04Speaker 1: come hang for a second. So I walk through and
- 50:07Speaker 1: I'm talking to him and Kevin Long, and I go
- 50:09Speaker 1: to Schwerber, I go, hey, Schwerber, do you think you
- 50:11Speaker 1: guys are ever going to win another game?
- 50:13Speaker 2: Right?
- 50:13Speaker 1: And he starts dying. He's like, no, we're fucked. We
- 50:15Speaker 1: might go 0-100 for the rest of the season. Like,
- 50:19Speaker 1: typical Schwerber, like, no panic, right? And I was talking
- 50:24Speaker 1: to Kevin Long, and I was like, bro, I always
- 50:26Speaker 1: admired you from afar. I wish I could have got
- 50:28Speaker 1: to work with you. Like, he has such a good
- 50:30Speaker 1: reputation in the game, and I know firsthand how much
- 50:33Speaker 1: he's affected Kyle Schwerber, right? Like, him and Schwerber were
- 50:37Speaker 1: together in In D.C., now he's in Philly together. Like,
- 50:42Speaker 1: Schroeder loves him. So, surprisingly, they let him go. Just
- 50:45Speaker 1: such a good, respected hitting coach in the game. But, again, like,
- 50:48Speaker 1: it's like sometimes you need to shake things up. You
- 50:51Speaker 1: know what I mean?
- 50:51Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. They have been there five years, you know. And,
- 50:55Speaker 2: like you said, he's got a great reputation throughout the
- 50:59Speaker 2: league for all those guys. It does feel like a
- 51:01Speaker 2: little bit the Phillies– I think they're leaning on their
- 51:05Speaker 2: starting pitching, which is going to be great. And a
- 51:07Speaker 2: lot of guys on long-term deals that are aging a
- 51:09Speaker 2: little bit, it feels like a little bit that storyline
- 51:12Speaker 2: that everybody's kind of banging the drum with the Yankees,
- 51:15Speaker 2: like running it back.
- 51:16Speaker 1: Well, this is where player development comes in.
- 51:18Speaker 2: What's that?
- 51:19Speaker 1: This is where player development comes in, where you have
- 51:22Speaker 1: these older guys. Now, if you get a couple young
- 51:23Speaker 1: guys that come up and hit, like, in our studs,
- 51:28Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Maybe a starter. I know
- 51:30Speaker 1: they have Painter, Andrew Painter, who will be– better next.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Year for sure.
- 51:35Speaker 1: It's a year of growth. But if you have a young,
- 51:37Speaker 1: like if Crawford, right? Call Crawford's son. If he takes
- 51:41Speaker 1: another step next year, you need some of these guys
- 51:43Speaker 1: to develop to partner with these superstars, which is why
- 51:46Speaker 1: player development is such a big deal, right? So I
- 51:51Speaker 1: know they have a prospect, Aiden Miller, supposed to come up.
- 51:55Speaker 1: But again, it's the Phillies. It's a good place to
- 51:58Speaker 1: be in. You're competing every single year. But again, yeah.
- 52:03Speaker 1: Winning the World Series is the ultimate goal.
- 52:05Speaker 2: That is, that is.
- 52:07Speaker 1: We got our boy Kenny Chesney going on tour next summer, Rossy.

- 54:24Speaker 1: And the bedrooms.
- 54:25Speaker 2: Let's get to a free agent market with Tarek Skubal
- 54:31Speaker 2: at the top. Now, I have one team in mind
- 54:36Speaker 2: that I've already mentioned that I think where he's going.
- 54:38Speaker 2: I've already locked him in in Chicago. And we can
- 54:41Speaker 2: talk to you about Chicago in a little bit. But
- 54:44Speaker 2: he's one of the best starting free agents on the market.
- 54:47Speaker 2: And what do you think? Where is he going? What
- 54:50Speaker 2: do you think, Riz? He's going to get paid.
- 54:52Speaker 1: He's going to get paid. He's going to get paid
- 54:53Speaker 1: by a big market. And I think... I think it's
- 54:56Speaker 1: going to happen fast. It's going to happen before December 1st.
- 55:00Speaker 1: I think that with all the CBA stuff coming up,
- 55:05Speaker 1: there's going to be a couple guys that get off
- 55:06Speaker 1: the board quick. Scoogle's one of them, right? And whatever happens,
- 55:11Speaker 1: there's a salary cap, there's a floor. If teams get
- 55:14Speaker 1: grandfathered in contracts, I think Scoogle probably will go before
- 55:19Speaker 1: the lockout happens. Yeah. I mean, obviously, the Cubs are
- 55:24Speaker 1: an obvious fit. I think the Red Sox could be
- 55:30Speaker 1: a fit. Pairing him with Crochet. That would be nasty.
- 55:38Speaker 1: The Dodgers are obviously going to be in the mix.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Padres could be in the mix. Giants could be in
- 55:45Speaker 1: the mix. These bigger markets.
- 55:49Speaker 2: San Francisco may have some money to spend. They need
- 55:52Speaker 2: some pitching. They've got to catch San Francisco, in my opinion,
- 55:57Speaker 2: I mean, the Dodgers aren't going anywhere. The Diamondbacks are
- 56:00Speaker 2: really good. Like, that division is one of the toughest
- 56:06Speaker 2: in the National League. And I think, like, they've got
- 56:08Speaker 2: to make some moves. The Mets have a ton of money, right?
- 56:12Speaker 1: The Phillies can sign them? The Mets can sign them.
- 56:14Speaker 1: I don't think the Phillies would need them. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah,
- 56:18Speaker 1: we'll see. Talking about Dave Dombrowski. Yeah, yeah. But I
- 56:23Speaker 1: do think he'll go.
- 56:25Speaker 2: Early.
- 56:26Speaker 1: I really do.
- 56:27Speaker 2: To the Cubs. I'm just telling you.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Well, the Cubs, what do they need in 2017? Obviously,
- 56:32Speaker 1: starting pitching, right? I would love for them to sign
- 56:35Speaker 1: back Clay Holmes. I'm a huge fan of Clay Holmes.
- 56:38Speaker 2: Me too.
- 56:38Speaker 1: I would love for Michael King, I've obviously said this
- 56:41Speaker 1: a few times, opt out of that deal in San Diego,
- 56:44Speaker 1: come pitch in Chicago. But, yeah, I think starting pitching
- 56:48Speaker 1: will be on the forefront for them. If they don't
- 56:51Speaker 1: sign Scruble, I can see them signing a few two
- 56:54Speaker 1: or three guys. But you have guys, Kate Horton's coming back,
- 56:58Speaker 1: Justin Steele's coming back, which you can't fully rely on Steele.
- 57:03Speaker 1: You have to be really careful with Steele coming back,
- 57:05Speaker 1: missing a few years. And then Ian Hatt, like what
- 57:10Speaker 1: are you doing in left field? And Seah, right? So
- 57:13Speaker 1: they have some pieces of this puzzle. It's going to
- 57:17Speaker 1: be an off season for them where they're sure they're
- 57:19Speaker 1: going to monitor the markets, the trade markets, see what
- 57:22Speaker 1: guys are doing. Hopefully they go and make that big splash.
- 57:25Speaker 2: I was looking last night. Tyler Malley had did so
- 57:29Speaker 2: well with the Braves. If they don't sign him back,
- 57:31Speaker 2: he's a free agent. They may piece mill it together
- 57:35Speaker 2: or go for the superstar and try to rely on
- 57:40Speaker 2: some of the guys they got. I'm with you on
- 57:41Speaker 2: the Clay Holmes. They've got to get some bullpen help too.
- 57:44Speaker 2: I don't know what that looks like, but there's got
- 57:47Speaker 2: to be some guys that get on the back end
- 57:50Speaker 2: of that and you know, back into that bullpen and
- 57:53Speaker 2: get some real dominant guys to help that. Because the
- 57:56Speaker 2: offense is going to be great. They're going to lose.
- 57:59Speaker 2: You know, I don't know what they're going to do.
- 58:00Speaker 2: Carson Kelly's a free agent. Happer, Seah, they've got some
- 58:05Speaker 2: holes to fill around there.
- 58:07Speaker 1: Carson Kelly would be a great fit in New York.
- 58:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:10Speaker 1: To compliment him and Austin Wells, that lefty righty.
- 58:14Speaker 2: I like that.
- 58:16Speaker 1: Great fit. I mean, he'd be a great fit anywhere
- 58:18Speaker 1: for any, to compliment any starting catcher and split time.
- 58:23Speaker 2: Well, I definitely think, you know, I wouldn't be shocked
- 58:25Speaker 2: if they traded for some of these, you know, maybe
- 58:29Speaker 2: somebody else's catcher and trying to get another veteran to
- 58:31Speaker 2: pair with Amaya. I think they still want to get
- 58:33Speaker 2: Amaya pretty good looks, but the offense was great last year.
- 58:36Speaker 2: One of the best offenses in baseball. And so I
- 58:39Speaker 2: think the way they would look at it is like
- 58:40Speaker 2: we can, we can Rob Peter to pay Paul type
- 58:44Speaker 2: thing and, you know, go all in, get some young
- 58:47Speaker 2: guys to play Matt Shaw and, Uh, Ramirez, that's just
- 58:51Speaker 2: my take on that. I don't know about, apparently there's
- 58:53Speaker 2: a Japanese outfielder, third baseman. That's pretty good. Uh, that
- 58:57Speaker 2: might be on, on the list. Um, yeah, but it
- 59:00Speaker 2: all comes down to pitching just exact same things they
- 59:02Speaker 2: needed at the trade deadline. Uh, they need to, they
- 59:04Speaker 2: need to kind of bolster those up. I think Kate
- 59:06Speaker 2: Horton would be back in the second half. Justin Steele, hopefully, hopefully.
- 59:10Speaker 2: to start the season. And I love the Clay Holmes.
- 59:13Speaker 2: I think he's got an option they could pick up.
- 59:15Speaker 2: So that'd be, that'd be big.
- 59:17Speaker 1: Well, Rossi, let's get to our daily Tim bus ball
- 59:21Speaker 1: bag questions of the day. where me and Rossi take
- 59:25Speaker 1: all your questions from your comments on YouTube to our socials,
- 59:27Speaker 1: or you can email us at rossinrizajuma.com. We usually do
- 59:31Speaker 1: three questions. We're going to do four, Rossi, because I
- 59:33Speaker 1: am starting the first question off. This is a question
- 59:36Speaker 1: from me, user ariz4844, to my question. I'm from New
- 59:43Speaker 1: York and Florida. I live in New York. I'm in Florida. Anyways, Rossi,
- 59:48Speaker 1: my question is for you. As a manager, You've managed
- 59:53Speaker 1: the Chicago Cubs. You've dealt with front offices. You've dealt
- 59:57Speaker 1: with ownership. My question is, this is my messed up
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: thinking as a fan, are the Cubs and Yankees extra
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: motivated now seeing their division rivals in the World Series
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: when they're supposed to be the top of the... Because
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: in my opinion, it's like, As a Cubs fan, I'm like,
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: all right, good, the Brewers are in it. Now hopefully
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: it lights a fire, even bigger fire, right, for our
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: organization to go out and be that dominant one again.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: That's a good question. I think, you know, the Brewers
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: have kind of held serve on winning the division for
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: a while now and been the Achilles heel. You know,
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: bringing over Craig Council and you would think that you're
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: bringing over whatever secret that you feel like is going
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: on is secret, I say, and it may just be,
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: you know, whatever. It's just good player development and good
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: people around there and getting buy-in.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Well, you always say good players make good managers.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Good players, exactly. So, you know, you would think you
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: bring over the guy that's leading the ship for the
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: people that you can't beat and seem to get over
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: that hump. And then he kind of calls out the
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: front office to start after his first season. He's like, look,
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: we're 10 wins behind. the brewers like 10, you know,
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: that's a big gap that we have to fill now
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: in the last two years, they've closed that gap a
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: little bit as far as like getting in the post season, um,
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: but still getting knocked out by the brewers, uh, two
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: years ago. And then the Padres and not doing the
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: home field advantage, it went in home field advantage. I
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: thought we both talked about that was a big factor
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: in the Padres were the hottest team, uh, in the
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: second half in baseball. So, um, I looked at their
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: season as a successful season and they just, you know,
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: the post season is such a wild card of like
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: who's hot and who gets big hits and who pitches best.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: But I definitely think it sticks in their crawl. And
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: if I'm Tom Ricketts, it's definitely bothering me. Like how
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: am I spending this much money and they're spending that
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: much money.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: And that would bother me. Same with the Yankees, right?
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Like I think in my experience going to, being in
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: the American league East and with the Boston, the Boston,
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: New York stuff used to be a big, like back
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: and forth and, and they're, they're vying for the biggest
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: free agents and, uh, he's going to spend some of
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: the most money in baseball. And now it's about, you know,
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: everybody's gotten, or especially the Red Sox got very analytical
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: and going out and getting the guy that fits best
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: for them and the pieces. And the Rays seem to
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: be right there at the top, again, being at the
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: bottom of the payrolls. And so I would definitely say like,
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: I'm sure Hal Steinbrenner, Like, what do we got to
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: do to get to that level? I don't mind spending
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: the money. They've got the money. I think that's just
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: part of the market. But like, what do we got
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: to do better to and looking into that, which I
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: think a lot of front offices do. Yeah.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: Well, great question from.
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: A great question. Great question from you. We longtime with
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: Sir Anthony Rizzo.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: Appreciate that.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Fan of the program.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: All right. Dwayne Pearson. Hey, Rizzo and Rossi. I'm a
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: Cubs fan living in Wisconsin. We all know the rivalry
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: gets heated between the fan bases and games naturally have
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: more intensity when your division rival is battling for the
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: same title. But does that carry over into the interactions
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: between players as well? Was there extra trash talk or
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: actual bad blood with Milwaukee or was it mostly friendly competition?
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Both, honestly. There's guys that you play against that just
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: rub you the wrong way. And the more you play
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: against them, the more they rub you the wrong way.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: And the more you don't like them and that style
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: of play. And there was guys on those Brewers teams when,
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: when I was playing that I definitely did not like.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: And especially when they were getting better and starting to
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: actually be a real threat. That's when you don't like
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: them even more. But I mean, when, whenever we went
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: up to Milwaukee, it's, you know, it's, this isn't a
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: bash on Brewers fans. It's just, it's more of a, how,
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: dedicated Cubs fans are and how massive the Cubs fan
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: outreach is like it's 50 50 there if not 60
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: 40 Cubs fans you know what I mean so those
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: those rivalries like those fan interactions are insane at those
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: games those games are a lot more energy in the
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: ballpark you feel as a player and you feed off
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: of that so it all comes into it right like
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: most of these rivalries right now are fantastic which is amazing.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: We love as players seeing the fans so into it,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: like interacting. It's just good for the game. But as
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: far as the player standpoint, yeah, I mean, there's guys
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: you don't like for sure, but most of those guys
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: I didn't like playing against. Every time I played with
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: them on our same team, it was like, God damn it.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: I hate to say this, but I really like you.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: I like this guy. That's usually how it goes. Our
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: competitive juices just make you not like some of the
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: best players or the, the guys that, you know, kind
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: of are more flamboyant when they hit a home run
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: and stuff against you. It just, it just pisses you off.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: But I thought the only real interactions that guy heated,
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: it felt like they hit Wilson Contreras every other game,
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: you know, like pitching him in and that just got
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: old quick. And then you're starting to be like, okay, well,
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: We've got to hit your guy. In division, there's a
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: little bit more. We're out of division and not playing
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: guys as much. It's a little easier to let a
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: hit-by-pitch go by, but when you continue to play the
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: same group and they continue to hit the same player
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: and how they pitch him, then it just starts something.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: It's always a little bit of Wilson's emotional guy as well.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: That's when it gets really heated. Now it's a little
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: bit less, but A while back, you played in your
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: division a ton. You played more games. Three at home,
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: three on the road. When you're competing against somebody more
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: and it's tight, you hate them more, for sure.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Now that the divisions don't play each other as much,
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: I don't think you see as much of that hatred
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: that builds over year in and year out of playing
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: these same teams over and over and over again. For me,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: the Reds, Every first pitch, they'd brush me off the plate. And, like,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: that was their game plan. Move his feet, make him uncomfortable.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: They'd hit me. Sometimes they wouldn't. The Pirates, their whole
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: fucking pitching philosophy was, you have to pitch in, you
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: have to pitch in. Who cares if you hit him?
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: They hit me fucking 40 times. You know what I mean?
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: I hated a Pirate.
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: Yeah. I think you're spot on with that. The only
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: thing I would say is, like, to the fans' questions, like,
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: I was trying to think in my head. Like, who
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: did I hate in Milwaukee? You know, like, who's that guy?
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: And I couldn't come up with somebody, you know, right
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: off the top of my head. Like, you don't hate
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: Prince Fielder. Like, you didn't hate Brian Braun. Like, you know, like,
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: it didn't. There's guys over there. It's hard to pinpoint it.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: It's just, yeah.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I mean? Like, there's no one
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: player that I'm like, this guy bothers me.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: But.
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: Um, you definitely hate losing. And, and when you're in
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: those competitions and the, the heat of the battling and,
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: you know, a pitcher hits your guy more than once, or,
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: you know, they're huffing and puffing out there in the mound. It, it,
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: it gets the blood boiling really quick.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Good question. Dwayne. Next email is from Chris Northrop. This
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: one's for you, Patna. Rossi, what makes a great manager
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: and what makes these two world series managers winners?
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: Well, we know the great, the great managers come with
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: great players. Um, The best managers I've been around, I
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: won't talk about myself, only got four years to do it.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: So these guys that are in the dugouts now, I
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: have a ton of experience. They've been in multiple moments.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: They know how to lead men. They care about the players.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: I think the guys that, the managers that treat players
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: as equals, you know, I equate it a lot to
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: being a dad, right? Like you love your son. You
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: have to kind of guide your son, but you want
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: to interact with your son. road trip for your son
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: you want to go watch them compete and cheer for
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: them and hope they do well and when they get
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: out of line sometimes you just got to have a
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: conversation with them and I think it's just about growing
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: more than disciplining you know like I watched Aaron Boone
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: again have to answer questions about jazz and the lollipop
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: you know the lollipop happened but it didn't happen again
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: we had a conversation and all the meat it is
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: like here's a learning lesson man like Let's try to
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: stay professional and not have a lollipop in your mouth
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: during a game. I think that's just common sense. I
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: don't know that Jazz put a lollipop in his mouth,
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: headed out to the field, and like, oh, this is
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: going to grab some attention. Let me see how many
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: people I can piss off.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: No.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: So, like, again, it's just about– Terry Pendleton, a player
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: when I was in Atlanta, somebody hit a home run.
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: I don't remember who it was. And kind of, you know,
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: a pimp job, we used to call it, whatever you say,
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: like showboated, watched it for a long time, whatever. And
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: Terry Pendleton, MVP for the Braves, was our hitting coach,
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: met that guy at the top step and said, we
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: don't do that shit here. And it's like, it's just
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: a standard. Like, I'm not mad at you. We just
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: don't do that here. We're not trying to wake up
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: a sleeping giant. I think that was part of, you know,
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: Cashy's message when he told the guy to run the
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: other night. It's just like, let's not wake up anybody
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: that we're fixing to put to bed. And I think managing,
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: it's just about caring about the guys and continue to
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: try to use your experiences, use your knowledge, use your information,
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: try to set people up to be successful. And again,
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: grow like everybody has to get better constantly. It's not nobody.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: If you're if you're sitting still, you're moving backwards because
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: everybody's trying to get better. But I think these two
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: managers to finish off that point are two of the
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: best baseball men that I've been around and they care about.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: Pat Murphy has such a unique experience coaching in college,
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: being a head coach, Arizona State for a really long
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: time and then getting to come in and be the
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: bench coach in Milwaukee, knowing those guys, investing in them.
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: And I know Cashie does the same thing. So there's
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: no surprise these two guys are in this position that
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: the players have put them in.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: Thanks, Manager Rossi.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: You got it.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: I like you way better as my friend, not my manager.
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: All right. Next email from Chris Blair. This question is
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: for David Ross. That's me. If you can put back
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: on your manager cap when you– When would you tell
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: a veteran player who has been a star in this
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: league to change something drastic to their play on the field?
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: How long of a leash do they have, and how
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: does that conversation go? Ooh, I'm getting all the heavy
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: hitter ones. Obviously, the vets that have done it for
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: a long time, they get a long leash. But they
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: don't like struggling, whether it's defensively, offensively, making mistakes on
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: the base path. You try to, I try to, you know,
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: stuff like normal mistakes that you feel like you learn from,
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: even from a veteran player, you just try to address
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: it immediately. If it's something that you, that, you know,
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: they didn't know the outs or something, you got to
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: kind of like get on it. Like I took one
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: of the, one of the worst things I've ever done
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: is like taking Kyle Schwab out for not hustling and
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: hobby for not knowing the outs. Like there was a
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: better way to handle that. And I learned that early
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: on in my career and how to get that message across.
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: So veteran players that you know are giving it every day.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: You got to have a little bit of like, it's
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: hard to play every day and they're going to make,
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: they're going to make some mental mistakes at times and
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: some things are going to happen. But when they're struggling,
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: I think they know it. The hitting coach knows it.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: They're working on it. You know, like I think players
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: feel like, or fans, excuse me, feel like players are
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: just kind of doing the same thing over and over again.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: They don't see the work that's going in from two
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: o'clock all the way up until game time, trying to
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: fix something in their swing or try to find the
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: right approach. So, there's tons of patient with that. I
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: think the main thing is a manager conversations and, and
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: watching emotions can help you give a guy a day
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: off two days off with an off day around it.
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: Little things like that. I'm just like, Hey man, I'll
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: give you a breather. Let you get a reset. You
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: can work on everything in the cage without having the pressure.
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: I'm not going to pinch hit you. You know, everybody's like, why,
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: why was Rizzo on the bench and you didn't pinch
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: hit him? It's like, cause he stinks.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: You were trading me.
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: Hey, we, we could, yeah, we could get in that conversation, but,
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: I think for me, it's just about having those conversations
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: with those guys. The veterans get all the leeway possible,
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: and I think the best thing to do is give
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: them a day off. Everybody would say it's a benching
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: and make a big deal of it, but if you
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: communicate to the player and let them know where your
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: head's at and when they'll be back in there, that's
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: the easiest thing to do.
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel like always, and I'll never manage, but
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: if you can meet the player with where they're at
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: and understand where they're at, right? Like veterans expect a
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: lot out of themselves, right? Especially guys who have done
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: it year in and year out. So if you can
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: meet them where they're at, like they're, maybe they're underperforming,
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: maybe they're in a rut and just have that humanly
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: conversation with them. They've been there, they've done it all right.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Like Manny Machado was a great example this year, right?
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: Like he was struggling so hard early in the year.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: And you look up at the end of the year,
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: he has 30 plus pumps, right? His average was down,
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: but like, he grinded his way through the season. Right.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: And like, he's one of those guys that could easily,
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: who knows the dialogue between him and Stammen, right. They
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: played together. So it could be maybe easier or harder
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: to have those conversations with. Sure. Yes. Like Trey Turner, right.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: Like we talked about him earlier, like he had a
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: bad season at shortstop. It is what it is. Like
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: now he's going to go and, and try to be better.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: Like he's a good person.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: I mean, bro, you had to release Arrieta.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: You know, you caught his no hitter.
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And the worst as a manager. So
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: it's the worst. The conversation was so hard for the manager.
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: And I don't envy stuff that you guys go through
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: on a daily basis because. Yeah. It's no one's happy
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: all the time on your team. No one is perfect.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: Booney said it in his press conference. No, you don't
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: have you'd never have the perfect clubhouse. It's impossible.
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, I agree with that. Great question.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: Good one today, Rossi.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: What a good show. We got a long one today.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: That was nice. World Series Friday in Milwaukee. David Ross
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: pregame and postgame. Then we're grinding afterwards to bring you
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: guys all of our reactions and thoughts from the World
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: Series to celebrate our game of baseball. The Fall Classic
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: is here. Rizzo and Ross will be with you unfiltered
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: throughout the World Series. Thanks for tuning in. Peace.
