It's still welcome, everybody. Welcome to this week's edition The Stone Real Does
0:19
Show Episode number seven and forty eight for June thirteenth, twenty twenty four.
0:25
This is your NXC Battleground Recap and review and w Clash at the Castle Preview
0:31
and Predictions edition of s R T. You. I am one half the
0:36
show. I am Jeff Peck joined every single week of my past one only
0:40
Doctor Trey Franklin, Doctor Trey the ufc Apex. I hope they never do
0:46
a show there ever. Again, my friend, it was like if the
0:53
performance Center, the school down in Orlando, and the Thunderdome all had an
1:03
ugly, ugly step child. It was. It was not a good look.
1:06
It looked like they were doing any They're doing a pay per view and
1:08
a shopping center, which I think they did that in Hartford, Connecticut at
1:12
the Mall once. It's funny that you say that, because I had one
1:17
of the points I wanted to talk about post recap of NXC Battleground. To
1:21
me, I felt like they did that show in a big conference center at
1:26
a hotel. Do you get that vibe? I was waiting for all the
1:30
vendor boots to be set up around the ring where you go like get Anderson
1:34
windows, cypher Anderson windows or leaf filter, get some honey from a vendor
1:42
and all. Yeah, it just it was a not a good look.
1:46
I understand why they did it, because I doubt they paid anything for the
1:49
building, but it's like, oh, we can set up for free and
1:53
everything here straight profit. Cool, we'll try that. But yeah, it
1:57
just it felt like you know, NXT like RV Super Show, like it
2:06
was just like a convention. Yeah, I mean, I guess we're going
2:08
to jump here a little bit. I mean I had written down that the
2:12
WE presentation does not look it did not look great on TV in that room
2:19
because some of that stuff is typically hit and during a UFC show. I
2:22
mean there's like more aerial shots looking down at the octagon and it's a little
2:27
bit more closed on the octagon rather than a wide shot where you want to
2:30
see the crowd, you want to hear the crowd, you want to see
2:32
the room. They either need to go back to the drawing board for the
2:38
UFC apex on making this location looking sound better on TV, or just hold
2:42
like special NXC television editions there if they do so again in the future,
2:46
which I assume they would. And then additionally, that ufc Apex crowd was
2:52
not great. I don't know if it was a lack of harmonics that made
2:54
the crowd sound alive or lack of being alive, or if it was an
2:59
MMA crowd or a crowd where they just distributed it out to TKO employees.
3:04
You could actually see an employee at one point during the trick, williams ethan
3:07
page match, trying to get the crowd going, and he was sitting right
3:13
next to the commentary table, and I found that very embarrassing. All in
3:17
all, not a good look, sound, and feel from the ufc Apex.
3:23
What do they call the the fluffers, the ones they use for like
3:27
comedians before the comedy comes up, there is there's a special to get the
3:30
crowd warmed up. You have a little opening act. Yeah, so that
3:34
was like a that was like a TKO employee fluffer basically like, guys,
3:39
come on, I'm gonna get fired if you don't clap for the show.
3:44
Geez, guys, come on, Grandma, wake up. I mean it's
3:46
yeah, it just wasn't a good presentation. It felt like dried, Like
3:53
there's been shows in the past where you know it's probably like right around like
3:59
pre COVID days where it just felt very small. I mean even like when
4:04
we've seen shows done in small venues in the past, and I'm talking like
4:08
performance centers or full sale days or even you know some of the aw stuff
4:13
in daily place. You know, it's it's very small type venues. But
4:17
the crowd just seemed into it. This it's a Saturday night in Vegas and
4:21
it's in a small set. It's in a small setting, so it just
4:26
didn't feel right, and it upset Sammy too. Sammy's still saying, never
4:30
do it, don't do it again, don't do it again. I don't
4:31
blame them. I don't blame them. Not not a good location. We
4:34
get it because it's TKO w UFC partnership. First time you're really integrating UFC
4:41
into the ww world. I know they've done some shows where I actually believe
4:46
they They did some like the most recent SmackDown taping in Kentucky was shared with
4:55
a UFC Fight Night, so they've done that, but they haven't done it
4:58
as in depth as a they did with the UFC Apex. They made it
5:01
a big deal. It it was a big deal, but coming off on
5:05
television not great at all. So let's get into an NXC battleground recap.
5:11
Review came to us this past Sunday from the ufc Apex has described before in
5:15
Las Vegas, Nevada. We have the first match here, Klonie Jordan defeating
5:18
Soul Ruka Lash Legend Fallon Henley, Jada Parker, and Meechin in a ladder
5:23
match to win the inaugural NXT Women's North American Championship. Doctor Trey and I
5:27
both had last Legend in this one. I think the sky is the limit
5:30
for Klonnie Jordan is a baby face on the NXX brand right now. I
5:32
think they have wanted to push her for some time, and putting the NXT
5:35
Women's North American Championship on her will help with that climb in the short term.
5:40
I'm a fan of giving the women's division a mid card title to fight
5:43
for, and it'll be intriguing to see if success in NXT leads to the
5:46
same thing happening a Ron SmackDown in the future. Doctor Trey, your thoughts
5:49
on this one, Yeah, I was the women tried really really hardness match,
5:55
but you can see why most of these women have been kind of on
5:59
the we're part of the car because there are still some rough spots, some
6:02
greenness to it. Really surprised with the result because as much as they've wanted
6:10
to push Klonie Jordan, they really haven't. And to me, she was
6:15
to me, she wasn't even the standout of the match. It was kind
6:16
of like just you know, I think Jada Parker said it really really good
6:20
the other night where she said it just proved that you could climb a ladder
6:24
the fastest. But like, like, let me ask you at a I'm
6:29
not familiar with every woman in this match because I don't watch NXT religiously.
6:34
Sol Ruka really stood out to me in this match as somebody that I could
6:39
see being a bigger star than just about anybody else. Can's imagine. Did
6:42
you feel that way or was Kilanie like your standouts? Boy, that's a
6:46
really interesting question because there are a couple women in this match. I think
6:51
we obviously differ on this. I think there's a couple of women on this
6:55
match, in this match that a year from now can be big stars.
6:58
I think sol Ruka is one of them. Lash legend in the last three
7:02
months has really really improved. She was when they first introduced her jurning the
7:08
two point zero era, and she was doing that backstage segment. It was
7:11
not that great. Her in ring work wasn't there yet either, and she's
7:15
become a great character with metaphor and she's become a really, really well improved
7:20
in ring worker. I'm a fan of Fallon Henley. I like Fallin.
7:25
I think I like the heel turn stuff. Jada Parker is the one out
7:30
of everybody you know sans and I haven't gotten to Klonie Jordan because, as
7:33
I said before, I really think Kalandie Jordan can be like your white meat
7:38
babyface moving forward. I think she is like your stereotypical, like Roxanne Perez
7:43
before the heel turn type babyface. But Jada Parker to me, is the
7:46
one to watch for. I really think that this girl has a lot of
7:50
potential out of everybody in this match. But I mean, you can't go
7:56
wrong with any of them. I mean, soul Ruka's her move set is
8:01
viral worthy. I mean, the snow stature is a great move. Once
8:05
she continues to refine her in ring works, she's going to be really good.
8:09
So I think we kind of cause I differ here. I think every
8:13
one of these women in a year from now could be big stars on the
8:16
NXT brand or maybe even being introduced on Raw on Hex or SmackDown. But
8:20
to me, out of everybody, I really like Jada Parker. I've been
8:22
watching her for a while since some left up doing the Breakout Tournament and now
8:28
watching her character grow, I think she has some IT factor as well.
8:33
See, Jada is the one I need to do more work on because like
8:35
this was really my first time really seeing her in the Rings, so she
8:39
was a little behind her. The Falon Henley's outfit. I mean, if
8:41
that does not scream like early like Mickey James, like that looked phenomenal.
8:46
She looked like a star. Saw Rucas moveset's fantastic. I do like Lash.
8:52
Like when Lash made her entrance, she looked like a star. Klonie
8:56
Jordan, if you remember with Sasha Banks first started next before she joined the
9:03
little Heel group, the bff Yes, the BFFs, like when she was
9:07
the plucky white meat babyface. That's who Colonie Jordan reminds me of. I
9:11
don't know, I'm not saying she's going to go on the Sasha Banks Ascent,
9:16
but just that clean cut, you know, plucky underdog type, you
9:20
know female character, that's who she carried around me. But it was just
9:24
this is like, really my first exposure to all these women competing where I
9:28
actually get my eyes on them all at one time. So I just gotta
9:31
go with it. Who kind of stood out in the match to me?
9:35
Vic Joseph's been saying this on commentary lately, so it's probably something internal that
9:37
they really want to push. But I do think there's a lot of credence
9:41
to this. I think the most optimistic and exciting women's division in all of
9:46
rustling right now sits in the next day. I don't there is so much
9:50
upside with so many of these female wrestlers that it's very exciting and battleground spoiler
9:58
alert will not be reflective of of how high I have been on NXT lately,
10:03
but there is a lot of optimism and there's a lot of good momentum
10:07
that they've had as of late that's really exciting, and a lot of that
10:09
does sit with the women's division and how many good young stars they have building
10:16
through right now and It's going to create some really good competition and we're going
10:18
to see who are some of the top standouts as the next year goes on.
10:22
Next match year is Nathan Fraser and Axium defeating the OC to retain the
10:26
NXC Tag Team Championship. I THEOC Doctor trade Nathan Fraser and Axiom surprising result,
10:31
as I thought it would have been a good move to put the NXC
10:33
tag titles on the OC for the time being since they are involved in the
10:37
AJ styles Cody Rhoades feud on SmackDown. That would have put more eyes on
10:41
the NXC brand if they were representing as tag champs. Fraser and Axioum are
10:46
a really exciting tag team that has the chance to be a great tag team.
10:50
It's it's strange the way that they're booking the OC on NXC television right
10:56
now. I mean, how do you not have an interaction with Cody Roots
11:00
on this past Tuesday. Meechin's been working as a baby face. Gallas and
11:03
Anderson have been working as heels on SmackDown and on NXT, but they kind
11:07
of worked as quasi baby faces to help Meeching out to the feat Ada Parker,
11:11
which I will assume leads to eventual OTM and Jada Parker taking on the
11:16
OC match. I just thought it was a missed opportunity. Nothing against Fraser
11:20
Naxium. I think that again there the future would be a great tag team
11:24
Doctor Trey. But I thought, if you wanted to get some quick eyes
11:26
on the NXC brand, put the tag titles on Gallas and Anderson as they're
11:31
involved with this feud with aj Styles and Cody Rhoads playing as behind the seams
11:35
players. But you know, at least they're not completely ignored like when they
11:39
were building towards backlash in France, and that would have gotten some people to
11:41
be like, all right, let me go check out NXT. Probably,
11:45
so I thought it was a missed opportunity, but fun match. Overalls,
11:48
Fraser Naxium retain. Yeah, to me, this was just kind of helping
11:52
solidify Frasier Naxium with a tag team. I mean, they kind of came
11:54
off the I don't want to say Fluke victory over over the you know Bronn
12:00
Breaker and Baron Corbyn, the wind the belt that they really haven't you know,
12:03
they had the little few with OTM for you know, briefly in there,
12:07
but this was just kind of like another way of solidifying them as like
12:11
the corners of the tag team division right now, which I guess right now
12:13
this is the tag team division is kind of the weak spot in nxt SO,
12:18
and we've talked about it over the years, like they kind of cycle
12:20
through where like one one section of the of the roster of the of the
12:24
show will be a little bit down. So the tag team division is the
12:26
one is down right now. But like I like the match. I thought
12:30
it was really fun. Uh Frasier and Axiom. I don't know if you
12:33
remember this, remember when KOFE and Evan Borne were a tag team? That's
12:37
this is what they kind of remind me of. I do, I do
12:39
remember them as a tag team. Yeah, you definitely like some get emotional
12:43
here. You do like some still batter out battle and allergiesier folks. You
12:50
do like to see like this, Like their offense as a tag team is
12:54
something we we don't typically see and it's really exciting. I mean, the
13:00
quickness from both these guys is really fun to watch. Nathan Fraser I spotted
13:05
him god three four years ago. He worked a couple aw Dynamites. I
13:09
remember one that aired on it like a Saturday night at eleven thirty during the
13:13
pandemic, and he was phenomenal. And then when I found out we signed
13:18
him and he was working in the UK brand, it was like, this
13:20
kid's a future star. I still feel that way. I think the Axiom
13:24
character the former a kid can be probably you know Stember two behind Fraser.
13:31
He could be relatable to the children at some point. But yeah, I
13:37
mean this is a this is a fun tag team and it's it's to your
13:39
point, doctor Trey. Yeah, the tag team division is like the weakest
13:43
thing in NXC right now, which is which is unfortunate. But if they
13:46
give the same care and build that they've done with the women's division to the
13:50
tag team divisions, because there are tag teams out there in NXC that exist,
13:54
this could be pretty exciting. But we'll see where things go. Thought
13:58
again, it was a missed opportunity, But is your an axiom retained?
14:01
By the way, don't forget Nathan Fraser Rocket City Wrestling alumni as well.
14:05
Oh really, I remember you saying that now back in twenty twenty. Yeah,
14:09
back when he was Benjamin Carter before he got the name change. But
14:11
yeah, I actually worked we actually I actually worked against him in a match,
14:16
so as the manager against him. So yeah, just the kid's a
14:18
fantastic guy and it's funny way I watch him come out. He reminds me
14:22
of a like in the looks in the face, a little bit of like
14:26
a very young Heath Slater with the long hair. But he's so sudden,
14:31
so quick, And you're right, Axiom, could be they've been looking for
14:33
that next Rabistteria to be the face of the Hispanic division with it with a
14:37
mask. You got a young British kid that could be just do the same
14:39
thing if they ever launched the NXT Europe again and be that kind of European
14:43
version of of the Raybisterio Dragon Lee type characters. Next match here is Lolavice
14:48
defeating Shannon Basler an NX Underground match. We both at Shannon Baesler. Basler
14:52
losing the NX Underground match at NX is shocking based on her legacy. There's
14:58
a huge win for lola Ice and NIX. He needs to capitalize on this
15:01
win for her. If lola Ice isn't an NXC Women's champion in the next
15:03
three or six months, I will be very surprised. Obviously, the purpose
15:07
this match was to get Lolavice over. I wish there was some more hype
15:11
in how good Shane was in NXT leading into this, to add a little
15:15
bit more like shock value to this, because as a fan of historical wrestling
15:20
and NXC, Shana's legacy in NXT is one of the greatest women's stars that
15:26
have ever come through there. It's like to me, Her and Osca are
15:31
the top two that came through NXT, so they should have hyped this up
15:35
a little bit more. Nonetheless, that we saw how it played out on
15:37
Tuesday's NXT as well, there's obviously some big plans ahead here for Lolavice.
15:45
I don't know if her in ring style is one that I have gotten behind
15:52
yet, but the character and being a little bit more vicious and violent instead
15:56
of this like beautiful girl who likes the dance character. If they tap into
16:03
the more of the violent side of things and make her a little bit more
16:04
dangerous like they did with Shana back in the day, this is gonna be
16:08
really really a fun ride for her moving forward. So lola Ice gets a
16:12
surprising victory here, Doctor Trey, Yeah, I typically like most of the
16:18
Nacy Underground matches, I hated this one, like there was just too much
16:22
stuff going on on the outside. Then the fluke Shana gets knocked into the
16:26
stairs to lead to the victory. Like I just did like this match,
16:30
which sucks because once again Lola vices somebody else I'm not overly familiar with.
16:36
And then I hate it, like you know, you knockout or you get
16:38
the technical knockout or however you want the referee stoppage, and then you start
16:44
doing the dance, the Victor Cruz dance, like I'm like, it doesn't
16:48
match up, Like I'm with you, like it's like you can be one
16:51
or the other. You can't really be both. You can't be you know,
16:55
torking with sexy red and dancing and be vicious at the same time.
16:59
They just don't go together. You need to go one or the other.
17:03
It's it's like having ice cream and steak at the same time. It just
17:07
doesn't make sense to put them together. So I I just I didn't like
17:11
this at all. And then like you said, they didn't really like.
17:14
They mentioned it in passing during commentary about how dominant Shana was, but you
17:18
know, hype it up leading into it like she's literally this is the person
17:22
who you know became the baddest woman on the planet by beating ron de Rousey
17:26
and then she loses an NXC battleground to Lola Bikes. Just doesn't it doesn't
17:32
make sense? Yeah, yeah, no, I'm with you. I think
17:34
a little bit more hype in the legacy again, if Shannon Bezler would have
17:38
proven, you know, higher dividends. And seeing how this match played out,
17:42
I did love on Monday's Raw that they did carry over the leg injury
17:47
for Shannon Bezeler in the match that they had there with Zoe Stark and her
17:51
tagging against Alba Fire and Island Dawn. So nice to see some consistency in
17:55
w because in the past that didn't happen. Next match year, is Oba
17:59
Fami defeat Wesley and Joe Coffee in a triple threat match to retain the NX
18:03
North American Championship. We both at Oba Femi getting victory in this one.
18:07
I mean, how much longer can they keep Oba Femi away from the NXC
18:10
Championship. It seems like these triple threats or fatal four ways where Oba doesn't
18:14
need to be pinned to lose the title is the way NX ultimately needs to
18:17
get the title off of Femi so he could chase the championship. Oba is
18:21
insanely strong and needs his push to continue upwards like it has so far this
18:25
year. He's he's plateauing with the NX North American Championship, which is wild
18:32
because I never felt that way the Carmelo Carmelo Hayes, But Hayes was more
18:36
like the wrestler as wrestler when he held the North American Championship. Doctor Trey
18:40
and Obafemi's just this dominant wrestler that when we've seen it in the historical past,
18:45
the dominant wrestler can't be held back and eventually becomes world champion. I
18:48
think nx's kind of booking themselves into a little bit of a corner here following
18:52
this match. It feels like I'm knowing I'll be using a lot of historical
18:56
references. But that's how I for the older people, for younger folks,
19:00
is how I do stuff. Family with the North American title reminds me of
19:03
when Ultimate Warrior had the Intercontinental title. It was cool for a little bit,
19:07
but then you just felt like he's way too good for this division,
19:11
like he needs me on the next level. The problem is you're still trying
19:15
to trick Williams is over with the crowd, but you're trying to give him
19:18
a little bit of a legacy, a little bit of some credibility to his
19:23
title run. And if you throw up a Fambly in there right now,
19:26
like it's it's not a good matchup yet for that So but he's the most
19:33
impressive athlete performer I've seen in quite some time. Him and Braun Breaker.
19:38
I mean, if that is not a WrestleMania main event match in four years,
19:45
I will be surprised, because these guys are those who are just freak
19:48
athletes. His strength, some of the stuff he was doing in that match,
19:52
I have never seen Subay catch a top roupe mediora like he did that
19:56
match. Like some of the stuff he was doing. And Wesley God,
20:00
love that man. He's an incredible athlete and just and some of that he
20:03
is insane, but like it's just like he's just over Befeman, just overmatched
20:10
everybody. And he made Joe Coffee look small, and Joe Coffee is a
20:14
big, thick dude. And he made Coffee look small and make Coffee look
20:17
like he didn't belong in that match. So that guy ob Femi is the
20:21
most impressive athlete I have seen his quite some time coming to pro wrestling.
20:26
Next match, here is Roxanne Perez defeating Jordan Grace to retain the XC Women's
20:29
Championship. We both had Jordan Grace winning this one. I don't know if
20:33
free publicity on WE Television or one of your champions is featured, but you
20:37
take the loss is good business for T and A or not. I obviously
20:41
would have loved to see Jordan Grace to be crowned the NXC Women's Champion,
20:45
as it would have been totally unexpected and something we rarely see in WUE.
20:48
I hope this partnership between both companies continues as it's fun for wrestling fans.
20:52
This was a fun match. I think the partnership does continue because on Tuesday's
20:57
NXT there will be a Battle Royal to crown the next contender for Trick Williams
21:03
NXC Championship at heat Wave in early July, and Cody Rhodes came out and
21:08
said that there will be people from different locker rooms in this match, so
21:12
hopefully some big names are being featured. Doctor Trey your thoughts on this one.
21:17
As the NXC Champion Women's Champion defeated the TNA Knockouts Champion. I really
21:22
enjoyed this match. And I'm not the biggest fan of Jordan Grace over like
21:27
her. Like she She's honest, it's one of the things. She's almost
21:30
too muscular at times, like she's frightening in some ways, and she's so
21:36
short for she's like a pocket muscle, Like it's just crazy. But this
21:38
match was really well done. And I love this match because it showed the
21:42
diversity of Jordan Grace because she wrestled a WWE style match and that's typically not
21:48
the styles that they wrestled in TNA at times. So really well done match.
21:52
I loved ash By Elegance making appearance and Vic you know, doing the
21:56
whole oh my godness, Dana Oobs ash by Elegance, you know that little
22:00
segue in there, so they had to come up with the flukey way to
22:03
get rock Stand in the victory. So it doesn't hurt Jordan, but I
22:06
do. I hope they do more crossovers. I mean, I'd love to
22:07
you know we talked about on lesson show. I love to see Josh Alexander
22:11
schabb or the rascals people that have ties to guys in NXC. I think
22:15
would be great for there of them. And then I even love the backstage
22:18
stuff we saw with UH on Tuesday Night with with Cody and and Shawn Spears
22:23
and Lexus King and and and Ethan Page, like I love the tie ins
22:29
to everything. So h really well done FORMASH really well, like just really
22:33
good women's title match, so I thought was really well done. I don't
22:37
know if we'll get to this, but let's talk about that moment real quick.
22:40
I mean kind of surreal when you think about things. Cody Rhoades backstage
22:44
and NXC talking to Shawn Spears, Ethan Page and Lexus King all roll up
22:48
obviously Lexis King with Brian Pillman Junior in AW. So kind of like this
22:53
funny quasi let me pop the UH internet fan hardcore fan audience that is watching
23:00
right now. Did you think that was like a subtle shot at AW,
23:04
a shot at AW or just like a really fun moment moment that played out
23:08
in NXT A little bit of both. There was a shot at the end
23:11
at the line of the line of going, hey, at least I can
23:15
say we're all we're all in a better place or in a good place.
23:18
Now, that's a shot. It's subtle, but it's a shot. But
23:22
I also thought it was a really cool moment because that's something that the Internet
23:25
fans would have popped for, and they did, so I thought it was
23:29
you know, it's it's a little like we get onto AW for making you
23:33
know, jabs at WW. That was a little bit of a jab back
23:37
at AW. But you know it once again, Cody was an EVP.
23:40
Sean was one of his first people he brought in, so you know,
23:44
and Ethan Page was someone he brought in. Yeah so, and and Lexus
23:48
King knew Cody from helping from trade at the Nightmare Factor because thats one of
23:52
the places he also went and worked out when he was doing his AW stuff.
23:56
So it was it's the district in WWE in AW times, his WT
24:00
does subtle jabs where you have to kind of read between the lines you realize
24:03
they're jabbing or AAW does it overly. Yeah, yeah, I would love
24:08
to know someday the Cody Rhades leaving AW story like the real one, because
24:15
yeah, that would be interesting. So uh moving on to the next match
24:19
here, Trick Williams defeats Ethan Page to retain the NXC Championship. We both
24:22
at Trick Williams. This is probably not a popular opinion, but we have
24:26
seen Trick Williams booked too many times recently where he looks over matched by his
24:30
opponent, a pony gets distracted and Trick catches them with a trick shot knee
24:36
for the one, two three. Trick Williams is not five seven, one
24:40
hundred and seventy pounds. He is six four and two forty. He doesn't
24:45
need to be booked like he is Ray Masterio catching opponents sleeping for surprise when
24:48
I really want to see more from Trick Williams other than being a fun personality
24:52
with a catchy theme song that fans can chant along with, and this match
24:56
did not do it for me. Again, this was very, very similar
25:00
to the Carmelo Hayes match from the pl previously. I am not a fan
25:06
of the way that the're booking Trick Williams right now, Doctor Trey. No.
25:08
The weird thing is is when you know you go back to stuff with
25:12
Carmelo and ilia and and like he's he always looks strong in the ring,
25:18
like in the promos, he looks strong when they get to the brawls and
25:22
the match. You're absolutely right, he looks Overmash and it's almost like he
25:26
wins out of what, out of nowhere like and that finish in this match
25:30
was awful, And not even just because that the knee was out of nowhere.
25:34
It was because Ethan Page had them amnum and then start argue with the
25:37
referee for no reason to lead into that, Like the referee Like the count
25:42
wasn't even close. It wasn't like two and seven eighths, It was a
25:47
clear two count. Then youthing just kind of gets up and looks at the
25:48
referee and then mouths off. Then boom, there's the knee. Like it
25:52
just it's not a good look when, like you said, you have a
25:55
guy who's the size of a critique. You saw it Tuesday night. He's
25:59
bigger than Cody, you know, Like, you have a guy who's bigger
26:03
and more jacked than your world champion and he has to win flukishly and so
26:07
it doesn't really help him build up. The crowd's happy because he wins well
26:14
when you're looking at the depth of the character, it just makes him look
26:17
more green that he's not carrying matches. He's participating in matches just leading to
26:22
the finish. So not a good look and not a good main event to
26:26
close out Battleground. No, I love Trick Williams as a character personality the
26:30
whole nine yards. I think there's a ton of potential there still, But
26:33
I have not seen a Trick Williams match that I like, A one on
26:38
one match that I loved. I think the last time I saw a match
26:41
that he was involved with it, I was like, I really liked the
26:44
way that they booked him was the What's the Iron Survivor Challenge match in December,
26:51
and it was very similar to how he's been booked now the last couple
26:53
pls and a one on one where he was really far behind an underdog came
26:57
out of nowhere, trick shot, trick chick shot and gets the win out
27:02
of nowhere and it's like, Yeah, that was really cool. Iron Survivor
27:06
was booked amazing. That was a very fun match. His stuff with Carmelo
27:08
Hayes, it was like, wait, the match is over, what what
27:11
are we doing here? And then the match with Ethan Page, I was
27:14
like, we're doing the same finish again, love Trick I again. I
27:19
think there's a world of potential there, but some of the inn ring stuff
27:22
definitely needs some improvement. And maybe this is their way of kind of hiding
27:26
that he's a little bit on the green side, doctor Try. I almost
27:30
feel like, here's the thing. I almost feel like he got the title
27:33
because he got so hot, his personality got him over so much, and
27:36
they felt like they had to put the title on which which I understand and
27:40
agree with. And if there was anybody that was going to send Carmelo Hayes
27:44
packing from NXT to the main roster, it should have been Trick Williams.
27:47
Ye. Now should it have been Trick Williams who gets the championship by defeating
27:51
Elie Dragonoff one of their most dominant champions I've ever had. And it's like,
27:55
let me think, here, you look at the roster. Broun gets
27:57
called up, so can't be him. It's like process of elimination. I
28:02
guess we put the title on him because we can't elevate Oba quite yet,
28:04
because we don't know what we really have there until we see it play out
28:07
a little bit more. Yeah, it's just I think you're right. This
28:11
is their way of kind of hiding his deficition because he can sell, now
28:15
one thing Trick does. Trick can sell his ass off. He can sell.
28:19
It's just I you know, some of the some of the fluidity at
28:22
times is off, and I think they're trying to hide that by letting these
28:27
veterans kind of carry the match to lead the finish. So they're doing a
28:30
good jobther. I mean, he's still super popular, he's still super over,
28:36
Like his personality is great, his finish is great because that trick knee,
28:40
you know, the trick shot that's out of nowhere. We saw how
28:42
well that's played out with the RKO over the years, Like you can hit
28:45
that one time and the match is over as long as nobody kicks out of
28:48
it anytime soon. And I think Iliot kicked out of it once during their
28:53
match. But outside of that, like you gotta keep Beth that, you
28:57
gotta keep it like Baron Corbin's in the Day's got that thing where nobody gets
29:00
out of it, because that's the only way that moves in the work.
29:03
If you keep booking him like this if you book him weak, you got
29:07
to keep the finisher safe the entire time until he until the rest of his
29:11
injuring stuff catches up to him. I should have mentioned that. I think
29:14
the other person they could have put the championship on was Tony DiAngelo. I
29:17
mean that's what they were doing with him in the Elia Draggon off going to
29:19
their pl match was really well done, and I thought Tony d could be
29:23
the guy that could hold that championship. But I think they rode the hot
29:26
hand there. Doctor Troy, Yeah, I think their thing with Tony is
29:30
Tony does get injured or quite a bit. So you know, the guys
29:33
they've kind of gone with holding these belts are guys that are don't really get
29:37
injured all that often, like Ilia, for being so small, never seems
29:41
to really get injured. He had the one fluke injury about what eight months
29:44
ago and he was out for like three weeks. Outside of that, everybody
29:48
else they've kind of put the title on doesn't really get hurt. Tony gets
29:51
banged up quite a bit, so I think Trick was the safe pick to
29:53
put a title on where you can still book a show and not have to
29:56
worry about fluke injuries. Yeah, that's a good point, and I also
30:00
think it the sometimes the di Angelo family can be cartoonish. Heading in ALIAS
30:06
stuff. It was a little bit more modernized than what we've seen, but
30:08
now they've kind of gone back to a little bit more cartoonish. Nxc Battleground
30:12
PL predictions. I went two and four, Doctor Trey went three and three.
30:18
I'm at sixty six and thirteen on the year. Doctor Trey is at
30:19
sixty one and eighteen. Match of the Night and event rating. I gave
30:26
NXC Battleground a three point four out of five. Did not love this show,
30:33
and I gave my match to the Night to Rocks again, Perez and
30:34
Jordan Grace. Yeah, see where we're really close. I was three point
30:37
three and then I had Jordan Grayce and Rocks and Perez. Like it was
30:41
this maybe one of the weaker NXT show nxcpl e's they've ousley. Part of
30:47
it was the finish of the main event. In the main event only going
30:49
twelve minutes, the crowd wasn't really into it. It just the ending of
30:55
the show, and you know, literally, like you said, having a
30:57
fluffer out there to hype the crowd up not a good look. Yeah,
31:00
it's very very noticeable, and a lot of people go out there, they'll
31:03
trash aw if they did the same thing, and it's like, well,
31:07
you got a trashwe if they did that. And if you go back and
31:10
you watch that match, there's a really significant point where I think both wrestlers
31:15
were down and you could see this person by the commentary desk trying to get
31:17
the crowd going and he looked frustrated, which if he's frustrated, and he
31:21
wasn't out there all night, so they must have sent him out there at
31:23
some point and be like, dude, this crowd is dead. And I
31:26
haven't heard any other reports about this. And it was a really bad crowd.
31:30
It was a really bad venue. It did not look good on television,
31:34
and the show suffered for it across the board. I mean, the
31:37
show absolutely suffered for it. I get why they went there, but the
31:41
show suffered. Yeah, in Vegas is usually a pretty good crowd, and
31:45
so to me, it was like it was either the employees or the people
31:48
that hit the early bird buffet specials at the casinos. They matriculator. It's
31:52
almost like when they used to do the shows down in Orlando and they TENA
31:56
would give away free tickets and you're just hoping some people app That's literally how
32:00
it felt. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's it's strange. Yeah,
32:06
it felt like an old school TV crowd. It was. It was weird.
32:08
All we needed was like the different types of flags hanging above the ring,
32:13
and I would have felt that. I was like, oh my god,
32:15
this is Crocket Promotions. That's a shot at n w A because nw
32:17
A still has the flag zone. I get why they do it though,
32:21
I mean that's it's a throwback show. So it's like, all right,
32:23
let's make this feel a little Crockett Promotions here mid Atlanta. Give it to
32:27
me. Yeah. The only thing that would make betterefit if they've made it
32:29
more look more like w CW Saturday Night, the where they did it at
32:32
the at the at Disney, Yeah Disney, so that it had the weird,
32:38
the weird special effects that would cut in and cut out and may look
32:42
like you're also a futuristic set and there's a there's some things in Collision.
32:45
I've always said the graphics remind me of w CW Saturday Night. I always
32:50
remember there was like this robot arm that would come out and they would like
32:53
make some sort of noise and it would go against the screen and it would
32:57
show like a human body like it was the million dollar Was it the million
33:01
million Dollar Man? Six dollars six million dollar man? Sorry not to a
33:06
DBAs. So yeah, when I went, when I used to go to
33:09
Disney way back in the day, it always blew my mind, like this
33:12
is where WSW Saturday Night is filmed, and they used to have some stuff
33:15
outside. But yeah, that's a a whole other story for another day.
33:20
Let's get into Clash the Castle real quick. Let's pre even predict ww WE
33:22
Clash the Castle. It's this satur from the Ovio Hydro Arena in Glasgow,
33:27
Scotland. First match here is Bionca, Bella Air and Jade Cargill defending the
33:30
w W Women's Tag Team Championship against Alpha Fire and Isla Dawn, the Hometown
33:36
Girls and Shannon Baseler and Zoey stark Uh in a triple threat match. I'm
33:39
gonna take Bianca, Bella Air and Jade Cargill in this one. Doctor Trey,
33:44
Yeah, there is there's part of me. You've gotta feel like one
33:46
of these Scottish people have to win at some point at the show, but
33:52
it's not gonna be this match, because we're still gonna build this this friendship
33:55
between Byonk and Jade, so that way somebody can turn green with him and
34:00
then turn on the other one to lead into either Summer Slam or WrestleMania,
34:02
though we're not at that point yet, so Bianca and Jay get the win
34:06
for me as well. Next match here is Bailey defending the w WE Women's
34:10
Championship against hometown girl Piper Nivin. I love the Piper's in this match.
34:15
She is very very talented. Doctor Trey, who do you like in this
34:17
one? Yeah? Once again it's one of the Scottish people have to win,
34:22
Jeff, But this one, I still think we're building towards Bailey and
34:25
Naya, so I'm gonna get Bailey the win in this one as well.
34:30
Yeah, I mean it's really really tough to go against Bailey in this one.
34:36
I would love to see Piper niven get get some shining this and hopefully
34:38
that's what comes out of it, is that Piper Nivin gets some shine because
34:42
she's again very very talented. Next match is for the Intercontinental Championship. Sam
34:46
Masein defends against Chad Gable. A huge fan of sammis Ain, but I'm
34:51
gonna take Chad Gable in this one. Doc tray. It's like, at
34:53
this point, if you don't put the Intercontinental Championship bottom now win, will
34:58
you? Maybe the catapults, the implosion of the Alpha Academy, and the
35:01
Creed Brothers, which have been rumored to potentially join him. They've been doing
35:06
some stuff behind the scenes in the in the vignettes, getting involved, but
35:10
maybe the Creed Brothers kind of help Chad Gable win. I think it's time
35:15
for Chad to be the icy champ, Doctor Trey, So I'm gonna take
35:19
Chad Gable in this one. Yeah, because as much as we love Sammy,
35:23
Sammy when he's a babyface champion, just he shouldn't. The whole point
35:27
of Sammy's being the underdog as a baby face, and when you're the champ,
35:30
you're not You're never really the underdog in these situations, So it makes
35:34
sense to put the belt on Chad Gable. Chad Gables the closest thing to
35:37
like a throwback nineties Interconnel Champion, eighties inter comb of CAMPI like the Brett
35:42
Harts of the world, those type guys, the mister perfects like. He
35:45
fits in that mold so well. I don't even say Kurt Angle because Kurt
35:50
was bigger, but Chad Gable deserves it and dear guy like and then it
35:55
gives something for Samy to do, whether it's chase you know, chase this,
35:58
or get pushed up into the main event picture because that was the storyline
36:01
from like a year ago where Sammy said he wanted to be showing that he's
36:05
a main event caliber talent. I guess the Intercolle title off him he can
36:08
show that he can be a main event guy. So there you go,
36:12
Chad Gable, both of us going with Chad Gable. I'm kind surprised with
36:14
that, Doctor Trey. I just like you said, there's more storyline to
36:17
play with. Also with the Alpha Academy implosion, there's more good storytelling to
36:22
come out of that. With the inter Conyle title the picture, because you
36:25
have Chad fight Otis for the inn Conyle title. That would be fun.
36:29
You know. By the way, how great was it here? Otis mentioned
36:31
Mandy Rose on TV the other night, and who's his tag team? Partner
36:37
there and Tucker Tucker Tucker Knight, who I thought was really talented by the
36:40
way, Tucky Tucky Tucky. I like the heavy machinery. Maybe they'll come
36:45
back. Next match here is Cody Rhoades defending the end Disputed at WWE Championship
36:49
against a J Styles and an equip match Doctor Trey. Who do you like
36:52
in this one? Once again we have a super over babyface champion in an
36:59
I quit match. It's really hard for the look. And the other thing
37:01
is typically good guys don't lose I quip matches unless their wife gets involved and
37:06
they get threatened, or they play a recording of them over the loudspeaker of
37:10
the nineteen ninety nine Royal Rumble. So either guy get the wife involved all
37:15
of Judgment Day and Edge, or you gotta have the recording played. Without
37:19
that, there's no reason for the good guy to lose this match, So
37:21
Cody Rose gets to win. I am taking Cody Rhodes as well. I
37:24
think he's holding on the championship until WrestleMania Season still. And then finally what
37:30
I considered to be the main event here, Damian Priest defends the World Have
37:32
aweight Championship the judgment day is barred from ringside against the hometown boy, Drew
37:38
McIntyre. I've had a really tough time trying to think about this one Doctor
37:44
Trey and who I would pick as a winner. So it kind of goes
37:47
back to the thoughts of what would be a better storyline when it comes to
37:52
the stuff that we just discussed with Sammy's a and Chad Gable Leaner condall Championship
37:55
match, and to me, I think Drew mcinn winning the championship in front
38:00
of the hometown crowd, finally getting that moment because the moment at WrestleMania forty
38:05
was stolen from him because of the Damian Priest cash in, and you know,
38:09
he wasn't able to celebrate his champion in twenty twenty because of the pandemic.
38:14
This is the moment that makes up for it all, and he is
38:16
extremely deserving of this opportunity based on everything he did in twenty twenty, twenty
38:22
twenty one and lately since like fall of twenty twenty three, he's been one
38:27
of the best wrestlers in w and then the standpoint of Damian Priest losing adds
38:32
to all the great Judgment Day storyline that's going on with liv Morgan being involved
38:38
in which way that is going Are people turning their back on one another?
38:42
Is Finn Balor and JD McDonough had enough of Damian Priest. We've seen kind
38:45
of a little bit of side eyes and the backstage vignettes. As of late,
38:50
the Judgment Day stuff has been really good. I think Damian Priest losing
38:52
the championship makes it better as well than him holding onto the championship for a
39:00
couple of months. So I'm gonna take Drew mcatyre in this one. I
39:02
think Drew McIntyre versus Gunther at SummerSlam is a main event level match, and
39:07
the stuff going on with the implosion of the Judgment Day following this loss will
39:12
be a lot more intriguing if Damian Priest is the one to retain. So
39:15
I'm taking Drew McIntyre Doctor Trey. Yeah, oh, like I'm with you
39:19
at this point. Like I said earlier, one of the Scottish people have
39:21
to win. I'm taking Drew a because arguably he's the most compelling character in
39:28
WWE as far as you know, kind of a good guy. He's that
39:31
tweeter character that we actually like, you know, it's like he's he's a
39:35
good he plays the good heel when he needs to be, but he also
39:37
plays the crowd and he needs to. The match with gun thro At SummerSlam
39:40
would be great. Not to mention you have see him Punk returning as well,
39:45
and the stuff they got going on. So the storyline, that's two
39:47
potential, you know, opponents lined up that are main event quality matchups that
39:53
actually helped elevate this title because Damian Priest I think has done a good job,
39:58
but I don't think he's really elevated to And also he's a money in
40:01
the bank casion winner. And typically when the money in the bank guy wins
40:05
the secondary heavyweight championship, they don't keep it very long. It's kind of
40:08
a trial run to see if they can be a main event guy for them
40:13
to get a much better run when they win it the second time. So
40:16
I got Drew McIntyre winning this one as well. There you go, So
40:20
Drew mcatarre, both of us picking him to walk out as the world heavyweight
40:24
Champion. I'm excited for the show two o'clock here on the East Coast this
40:29
Saturday. Again from the Ovio Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. Some BIGWE news
40:35
this week when it comes to contracts roster, who's staying, who is going,
40:38
and that is one very very talented wrestler, Doctor Trey As According to
40:43
reports, Ricochet has given his notice in WE that he does not plan on
40:45
resigning with the company. There were rumors going into Monday Night's role that they
40:50
we're going to be doing something as my dog just saw a squirrel outside I
40:54
think recently Doctor Trey actually mentioned like I never hear your dog during the show.
41:00
I'm laughing and now now you hear so a squirrel got in her way.
41:05
So there are some rumors going into the show that they would be writing
41:07
off Rickockchet. He's involved with Eli draggon Off and bron Breaker. As of
41:10
late, they did run an angle where bron Breaker takes him out. There
41:15
are some rumblings that there may be another payoff to this, that Rick Jay
41:19
is open to doing the payoff as well before its contract expires in July.
41:23
No word if there is a hope or sign that he should return to w
41:29
W, but obviously AW New Japan and anybody under the sun would be very
41:34
very interested into Ricochet's services, Doctor Trey. When you look at his run
41:38
in WII and the type of wrestler that he is, is this a shock
41:43
at all to you that it would appear that Rickochet wants to depart World Wrestling
41:47
and Entertainment. No, I don't think it's a shock. I think he's
41:51
had a very solid mid card run, which is kind of what I think
41:53
he is. He's a very solid mid card wrestler. But guys Ricochet or
42:00
and I'm not it's not a shot Ricoget, they bank on themselves. And
42:04
he looks around, he can see he's seen what a lot of these other
42:07
guys have done, where they've gone out better themselves, gone out to either
42:10
aw New Japan, gone somewhere else and made themselves a bigger name. So
42:15
it's not shocked. The most shocking part of it to me is that his
42:20
wife's still there. You know that, the fact that Samantha Irvis still gonna
42:22
be there and he's leaving, that part is shocking to me because typically spouses
42:28
don't want to separate once they start working together. So, but he's got
42:32
a chance, he's The one knock on him is that his promo skills aren't
42:37
the best. If he can go out somewhere and get more TV time and
42:39
show that he can do it and do it well, Who's I say they
42:44
don't bring him back in three years and recent and bring him back at a
42:46
much higher rate. We've seen him do it with Cody, with Christian Uh,
42:50
you know, with a lot of guys who you know, you know,
42:52
didn't think they were made event guys. They went out somewhere else and
42:55
showed they were and they came back and get the rubs. So Ricochet's got
42:59
a chance of off. Yeah, this is not a surprise to me.
43:02
I think Ricochet's type of persona, wrestling abilities, what have you, is
43:08
better served to actually leave w and go succeed in Flourish and all lead wrestling
43:14
in New Japan. He is one of those guys that I think can go
43:19
over those companies. And like you're saying, the Doctor Tray, should he
43:22
return to w W at someday, he will be a bigger star returning than
43:27
he would if he stayed under contract with them. It's very funny because the
43:31
Rikochet news comes out in last week and like a month ago, Will Ospray
43:37
in an interview was saying that it was like time for Ricochet to remember who
43:43
he was or for wrestling fans to remember how good he was pre WWE,
43:47
and I don't think him going to w like I think any less of him,
43:52
and I'm like, oh my god, he's a terrible wrestler. I
43:53
agree with doctor Trey Hiss pro mobility could definitely use some work, but the
43:58
entering talent is one hundred percent, and he has been misused in w in
44:02
my opinion. But it's like, okay, so Osprey is saying this stuff.
44:06
About a month later, he is requesting his release, and I'm starting
44:10
to think to myself, I'm like, hmm, this is this potentially leading
44:15
to something because you can kind of read the tea leaves a little bit the
44:17
way things go in professional wrestling, and I kind of think it does.
44:22
Last night on Instagram, Will Ospray teased this little photo of him, I
44:28
think on his story where he's like looking at a sign that like this beam
44:31
in a building and the beam says Ricochet and he's like has his hand over
44:36
his eyes like Christian used to do when he would come out, and Johnny
44:37
Gargano does and I was like, okay, so he's adding some fuel to
44:42
the fire, and then I started thinking a little bit more. Doctor Trey
44:45
and I had this down on the list of stuff I wanted to talk about
44:47
what we never got a chance to over the last couple of weeks, and
44:50
that is the will Osprey Swerve strictly match for Forbidden Door. There are a
44:55
lot of people that are thinking, including myself, like they are shotgunning this.
45:00
It really seems like they are really pushing this forward, kind of right
45:04
in the hot hand a little bit. The two most popular stars in the
45:07
company right now, like Swerve Strickland versus will Ospry to me, and I
45:10
think I predicted at the end of the year's show last year or in the
45:14
first show this year on the predictions was going to be all in will Osprey
45:17
versus Swerve Strickland for the championship. I think everybody felt that way, and
45:22
they're doing it Forbidden Door. And there are some reports out there saying this
45:25
is just the one of many matches between the two, and there are some
45:29
reports out there saying no, this is a one and done. I actually
45:31
think Sean Ross SAP came out and said that like this, this is for
45:36
now a one undone and I'm like, why would they do this match?
45:39
Now? Rick Ochet's contracts coming up in July, there's some tea leaves being
45:45
shared a little bit of where Ricochet may go. Rickosche and All Lead Wrestling
45:49
makes the most sense. Maybe it's will Ospray versus Ricochet Internationutal Championship at All
45:54
in Wembley, which would be an absolute banger of a match to check out.
45:59
And then it's like, well, what about Swerve Strickland. Well,
46:01
they've been having Swerve Strickland tease getting into stuff with the Elite, and we
46:07
saw that play out for Blood and Guts where he was offered a spot for
46:10
the Blood and Guts match that will take place in July to be with the
46:14
Elite. He said no, so he will probably captain the other team.
46:16
And then it's like, but they need a fifth person and who does Swarve
46:22
Strickland have some long history with Hangman Page, a Hangman Page siding with the
46:29
Elite to take on Swarve Strickland in All in Wembley in one of the best
46:34
feuds that they've ever had in All Elite Wrestling history, and in my opinion,
46:37
and it's not something that has gotten a long play to it makes the
46:42
most sense. So I don't know if I'm connecting the dots really well here,
46:46
Doctor Trey, or if I'm overthinking this at all, but I think
46:50
a current WWE storyline is actually affecting all Wrestling's booking plans for this summer.
46:59
Yeah. No, I like your logic makes perfect sense to me, because
47:01
you know, I was waiting to see where you're going. Because my only
47:06
issue with that is, like, how do you do the finish at Forbidden
47:10
Door to protect both those guys? Because you really don't want either guy beating
47:16
the other guy cleaned, so you gotta and both guys are kind of playing
47:21
the babyfaces right now. They're a little you know, their baby faces with
47:23
an edge, you know, if you want to say it that way,
47:25
But both guys are babyface. You got to protect them both, so you
47:29
gotta do some kind of crazy finish. And then if you do a crazy,
47:31
weird finish, AW cares more about what the Internet fans think than anybody
47:37
else, So if you do a crazy finish, how many Internet fans are
47:40
going to be pissed off? Because there wasn't a clean victory between Swerving and
47:44
Will Osprey, so they got to be careful with that. That's why I
47:46
don't like. I'm with you. I don't like the idea of shotgunning this
47:50
angle so quick. But if you connect the dodge the way you did,
47:52
it makes sense. You just better have a very good way to do a
47:57
finish for this matchup for Bidden Door that doesn't hang or your fan base and
48:00
still keep swerve. It will Osprey hot because they are the two hottest guys
48:06
in AW You've got to keep running with those guys because this is leading into
48:08
the biggest show of the year for you guys, So you got to play
48:10
that hand right, otherwise it's going to backfire and blow up in their face.
48:15
Yeah, this is uh, there's a lot riding on this one for
48:17
sure, because I agree with you. You need to have a winner in
48:21
this. You can't do some stupid DQ stuff that leads to a future storyline,
48:24
because that's what people hated about we booking that led to, you know,
48:28
the development of all Elite wrestling as time has gone on. So it's
48:31
it's a really really intriguing time. And then the part that you brought up
48:36
Doctor Trey is so well put. The match itself a forbidden door is very
48:40
very meaningful because can do you want Swerve to drop the title right now?
48:46
I don't, But do I want to see will Osprey lose? I don't?
48:50
So how does this play out? And that is the million dollar question
48:55
that leads us to the points that I'm trying to make in regards to potential
48:59
w current booking affecting AW booking later this summer. So it's, uh,
49:05
it's interesting times here, doct trade. There is a lot riding on this
49:07
match. I mean, the only I mean, the only thing I can
49:09
think of is if you have the elite come out and basically you know,
49:13
you have Matt Nick and Hangman Paige and Okata come out and just lay out
49:17
both guys in the match. I know the crowd the fans will be pissed
49:21
because you don't get a clear winner, but it does leave that door open
49:24
for them to have another match down the line after all in and it sets
49:30
up Blood and Guts because on paper, is forbidden Door bigger than Blood and
49:32
Guts because that's one of their big matches they do every year. So and
49:37
that will pop a bigger rating if you do some kind of tie in to
49:39
make Swerve hate the elite, and it'll get some eyes on the product,
49:44
but you have to, like, it's got to make sense otherwise, you
49:46
know, if if Swerve wins clean, it does kind of kill the momentum
49:51
of Osprey a little bit. And if Osprey wins, you're kind of killing
49:54
the momentum of Swerves. So it's you have to be very very careful on
49:59
how you book and get to whatever your ultimate end game goal is because Forbidden
50:05
Doors, this is the problem we have with every time. I don't know
50:07
the hierarchy of their pay per views if this is a B pay per view
50:12
or an A pay per view, So if it's a B pay per view,
50:15
you can do a screwy ending to lead to the bigger show, but
50:19
if this is one of their bigger shows, you have to have a clean
50:22
winner. Yeah, it's uh. That is going to be something we will
50:27
be certainly talking about here in the coming weeks because I could see some sort
50:30
of angle that causes this match to be thrown out DQ or some quasi stupid
50:35
finish, and that is going to piss me off. But I could see
50:37
either one of these guys losing, and that's going to piss me off,
50:40
so it's like, okay, so how do you make me happy as a
50:44
Rustling fan? And I don't know how to do that yet because I think,
50:46
to me, Swerve Strickland dropping the championship eventually to will Osprey would have
50:52
been the right move that I could like, Okay, I get this,
50:54
this makes sense, but it's not right now. It's not late June and
50:58
it's not Forbidden Door and some intriguing creative for AW going on right now.
51:04
And I just want to say, because there was a show a couple of
51:06
weeks ago where it's like, are we too harsh for AW? We kind
51:07
of ripped them apart. I talked about whether or not I was gonna continue
51:10
even watching the show because it was very much a throwaway. I will say
51:15
the creative lately, Doctor Trey has gotten better, so I've been happy with
51:20
watching AW television a lot more as of late. Yeah, the cohesion in
51:23
the storylines makes sense, like they're actually starting to weave stuff a little bit
51:28
so and then you're seeing tie ins and you're going, oh, yeah,
51:30
like what you just laid out there with Adam Page joining the Elite to you
51:35
know, fight Swerve because he doesn't like the elite, but he hates swerve
51:38
more, like he's still pissed that he got kicked out, but he hates
51:42
swerve more. That makes sense. And then the stuff with OUs Bray and
51:44
Ricochet, that makes sense. Like a lot of stuff makes sense. And
51:47
if it makes sense, that's the only thing that's been lacking from AAEW is
51:51
the coh When Aw's hot is because the storylines have cohesion and they make sense.
51:55
Because as much as we love entering action, you got to give me
51:59
a reason these guys are fighting, and I think with this whole angle,
52:02
and then you got the stuff with you know, Jack Perry tied end to
52:06
the whole thing as well. Like it makes sense. So it's why the
52:10
last couple of shows have been really really well done. And then finally,
52:14
the last thing I want to talk about here tying up creative loose ends.
52:19
It appears to thanks to the latest QR code, that the Uncle Howdy Rumored
52:23
Group is due to debut or have some sort of opening vignette where it's a
52:30
little bit more clear. At this Monday's edition of Braw, there was the
52:35
countdown clock that was share that would take you to Monday's Raw. The following
52:37
week, which takes place on the seventeenth, and according to PW Insider,
52:43
the new Uncle Howdy Bo Dallas group was slated to film vignettes this week in
52:47
advance that that are unveiling, which may come as soon as this upcoming Monday,
52:51
and that group is reportedly going to include Uncle Howdy Slash Bo Dallas,
52:55
Joe Gacy, Eric Rowan, Niki Cross, and Dexter Loomis this type of
53:00
stuff, Doctor Trey is right up your alley. You are a bigger fan
53:05
of the universe of Bray Wyatt than I was a lot more in depth with
53:10
it and really loved Bray White as a character, as did I, but
53:14
you were much more into it than I was. Your thoughts on this latest
53:19
incarnation and hopeful payoff this Monday on raw right. I like all the parts
53:27
that they have now. The only part that has me worried is the Uncle
53:30
Howdy character because we didn't really see it get fleshed out before you know,
53:34
Bray's untimely you know, illness and then passing, So like Bo Dallas didn't
53:39
have a great run on the main roster, wwe you Uncle Howdy character didn't
53:44
get fleshed out really well. The name's kind of ridiculous as well, so
53:47
I don't know if they're gonna tweak the name when it finally comes out,
53:52
But will you give me Dexter Lewis who I think you and I both love
53:54
the Dexter Lewis character in NXT. Joe Gacy is phenomenal, Nikki Cross is
54:00
phenomenal. Those are three talents that you and I love. And then Eric
54:05
Rowan, I think was really underutilized during his run in WW the first time,
54:10
Like those four alone, I'm excited about because they have so much depth
54:15
in they're personalizing their characters. It's just how is the uncle? How the
54:20
character gonna translate being the focal point of this group with the lineage to Bray
54:24
So what's the most overused phrase we used on the show. I'm cautiously optimistic
54:30
about how this all plays out come Monday and then heal Babyface because I think
54:36
the crowdsmen have a hard time booing bo Dallas because of their love of Bray
54:40
Wyatt's But I think this group is better off being a heel faction because their
54:45
characters are more twisted and demented. So those things are gonna be gonna be
54:50
really interesting how it all plays out come Monday night, if if they get
54:53
the full debut or if it's just the vignette. Yeah. I love this
54:57
creative approach that they have with the bray Wyatt universe type group that's going to
55:02
be making their ventral debut. I love the QR codes and stuff on the
55:07
different websites, taking over twitch streams, wets apps, all that stuff.
55:10
I think it's really creative and fun. What I will say is this has
55:14
been playing out for like two months now, and I think it was reaching
55:19
a point where people are like, all right, enough already, when are
55:21
we doing this? How are we doing this? And is the payoff going
55:23
to be worth it all? As similar to when bray Wyatt returned. So,
55:28
I mean they've been doing this since. I mean the first real tease
55:30
took place during the Immortal documentary from the end of bray Wyatt, and then
55:35
I think they started doing QR codes like the night after WrestleMania forty and that
55:40
was two months ago. I mean, really, if you go off what
55:45
this group is, it was gonna be the Wyat six. So this goes
55:50
all the way back to the Mountain Do Match because that's when you first saw
55:53
like really like the live introduction of the characters around you know, around the
55:58
ring is like that, even what was it when did we see like we
56:01
saw them a little bit in the crowd at russell Mania the year before,
56:06
you know, the standing around you're thinking of extreme rules, extreme rules when
56:10
Bray, when Bray came back to the company. Yeah, but we was
56:14
it? What was the match? Was that the match where the he got
56:16
who got thrown off the very top and you saw Uncle Howdie up there and
56:22
that was the Mountain Dew match at Royal Romo against La Night. Yeah.
56:24
So that, I mean, that's how long this group has been planned.
56:28
Because everybody was playing for this group except for I think they switched out Grayson
56:32
Waller because he was gonna play Mercy the or he was gonna play the Buzzard.
56:37
They switched him out for Eric Rowing. But everybody else has been in
56:40
the cards for this group, going back to when Bray came back to face
56:45
La Knight. So this has been planned for quite a long time. So
56:50
for some of us, it's been almost two years in the making to get
56:52
to this point. So hopefully we'll have something to talk about on next week's
56:55
edition in the podcast, or at least the next chapter of this new group
57:00
making their debut eventually into w WE. With that said, let's close up
57:05
shop on this week's edition of srt you and get a couple of plugs and
57:07
sponsor out of the way. You can download the show every Thursday or Friday
57:10
at Real Guy Radio dot com, wrestle chat neet on X and the still
57:14
realto Show iTunes feed. Don't forget to rate, review and subscribe to help
57:16
us kind the charts on iTunes. You can followus individual on X for myself
57:20
at SRTU Jeff, and for doctor Trey Franklin at The Doctor Trey. And
57:23

57:28
that being said, what's going on in the wonderful world of dot Trey Franklin
57:30
this week? Well, like Jeff said, you can follow me on X
57:34
at the Doctor Tray. You can find me on Facebook at Instagram Doctor Trey
57:37
Franklin. When you're on Facebook, to be sure check out rock Assea Championship

57:45
alumni of Rogas Citi Wrestling and Lexus King and Nathan Fraser, so be sure
57:49
go check them out. They got they had a big show this or this
57:52
coming up this Saturday or next Yeah, this Saturday, you have a big
57:54
show coming up, so be sure check it out. Most empullty, just
57:58
go check out your local D and wrestling show so you can see your future
58:00
at XT and AW stars in your local venues. And I'm getting ready,
58:05
Jeff, after the show's done, to go buy fifty or no, eighty
58:09
four ounces of steak. There's a steak lady that sets up shops at my
58:16
wife's work. I'm going to go buy eighty ounces of steak for forty bucks.
58:22
Well, I think this is something you need to document for future history.
58:25
Yes, I get to go see the meat lady. That's when my
58:29
wife. My wife told me. She called me. She goes the meat
58:30
lady's at my store. How much meat do we need to get? Unbelievable?
58:35
Unbelievable. This is what we're this is what we're coming to, doctor
58:37
Trey. This is what gets us excited. Listen, It's fourth of July
58:42
is around the corner. Father's Days coming up. Those are the two of
58:45
the biggest grilling days of the year at a Memorial Days, So you know,
58:51
that's that's three at the big events of the summer for grilling. I
58:53
gotta make sure I'm stocked up on meat, So there you go. Yeah,
58:57
I'm I'm with you. I don't think you could never have enough for
58:59
me. So this is exciting, and this is something that I hope that
59:01
we see play out on the Instagram or Twitter or Facebook feeds for Doctor Trey
59:06
Franklin. So stay tuned and hopefully we get some eighty ounce meat update here
59:10
on next week's edition. ASRT you, I'm gonna guess Doctor Trey will have
59:14
ittt LESE had twenty ounces of steak by the next time we record. So
59:22
it's sixteen ounces and a pound, right, yep. Mike Craigs though,
59:25
yep, it's five. It's five sixteen ounce t bones for forty bucks.
59:32
And so I'm like, yeah, there's only three adults in my house and
59:36
say it doesn't eat steaks. So I'm like, that means that's two t
59:37
bones. So that's two pounds of steak I will have this weekend alone.
59:42
That's my goal. Beautiful, beautiful, this is going to be a beautiful
59:45
weekend for us all so uh until next week for doct Trey Franklin. I'm
59:51
Jeff Pack. Thank you for downloading. We will recap and interview Clash at
59:52
the Castle on next week's SRTU. Once again, thank you for downloading.
59:58
Until next week. This has been the stair rial. Thus shall
