Murder In Moscow: Kaylee Goncalves’ Parents Renew Their Call for the Death Penalty (8/14/26) · The Vault: The Epstein Files

• 0:00
Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome back to the program. In
• 0:03
Speaker 1: this episode, we're going to spin back up to Moscow
• 0:06
Speaker 1: and we're going to hear from Kaylee Gonsalvas's parents from
• 0:10
Speaker 1: their latest interview with Sean Hannity. And I think that
• 0:14
Speaker 1: one of the things that gets lost a lot here
• 0:17
Speaker 1: is the fact that these families are suffering on a
• 0:20
Speaker 1: daily basis. No matter what happens, these kids aren't coming back.
• 0:25
Speaker 1: And that's the reality that these families have to face
• 0:28
Speaker 1: every single minute of every single day. And then think
• 0:31
Speaker 1: about the time that they were killed right around the holidays.
• 0:36
Speaker 1: So if you want to talk about somebody that's looking
• 0:39
Speaker 1: to really cause the most amount of pain and suffering,
• 0:43
Speaker 1: is there a better time? I hate to use that word,
• 0:45
Speaker 1: but a better time to do it. And I think
• 0:48
Speaker 1: that Brian Kolberger shows that time specifically to maximize the
• 0:52
Speaker 1: pain and suffering. And I also think that he is
• 0:55
Speaker 1: doing the same thing now, but I think that it
• 0:58
Speaker 1: could really backfire on him because if it goes to trial,
• 1:02
Speaker 1: I think that Brian Colberger gets the death penalty. So
• 1:05
Speaker 1: you know what they say, right, be very careful what
• 1:08
Speaker 1: you wish for. Today, we have an article from Fox
• 1:12
Speaker 1: News and the headline. Parents of Idaho massacre victim faced
• 1:15
Speaker 1: daily nightmare while demanding death penalty after shock plea twist.
• 1:20
Speaker 1: This article was authored by Madison Colombo. The parents of
• 1:26
Speaker 1: University of Idaho's student Kaylee Gonsalves opened up about the
• 1:30
Speaker 1: daily reality of losing their daughter, revealing their morning thoughts
• 1:34
Speaker 1: and nightly prayers since her murder. Speaking on the Hangout
• 1:38
Speaker 1: with Sean Hannity podcast, Christy and Steve Gonsalves detailed their
• 1:41
Speaker 1: emotional struggle as convicted killer Brian Colberger attempts to withdraw
• 1:46
Speaker 1: us guilty plea in the murder of four University of
• 1:49
Speaker 1: Idaho students in twenty twenty two. I can't even imagine
• 1:53
Speaker 1: I'd be on some law abiding citizen shit trying to
• 1:56
Speaker 1: get myself in jail with Brian Colberger so I could do.
• 2:00
Speaker 1: I'm fucking pincushioning. And I'm not even kidding when I
• 2:04
Speaker 1: say it, especially right now. Can you imagine being a father,
• 2:09
Speaker 1: a mother, a brother, a sister, whatever, and knowing that
• 2:13
Speaker 1: this disgusting fuck is now trying to walk it back,
• 2:17
Speaker 1: is now trying to say that he's not guilty after
• 2:19
Speaker 1: all the nonsense, after all the carrying on, and in
• 2:23
Speaker 1: my opinion, there's only one reason, and that's because Brian
• 2:26
Speaker 1: Coberger is not done making these families suffer. The first
• 2:32
Speaker 1: thing every single morning, I often ask myself, is this
• 2:35
Speaker 1: going to be forever? Will this eventually end? Will it eventually?
• 2:39
Speaker 1: Will it not be the first thing that I think
• 2:40
Speaker 1: about when I open my eyes. Christy told host Sean Hannity,
• 2:46
Speaker 1: and the amount of shit that the Gonsales family was
• 2:48
Speaker 1: taking from people is unbelievable. I remember at the time
• 2:52
Speaker 1: being just shocked. Honestly, how could anybody criticize a father
• 2:58
Speaker 1: or a mother in the wake of them losing a
• 3:01
Speaker 1: child the way they did, The audacity of people to
• 3:04
Speaker 1: try and tell others how to grieve, And then of
• 3:07
Speaker 1: course you add people out there saying all kinds of
• 3:09
Speaker 1: crazy stuff about how they're hampering the investigation, et cetera,
• 3:14
Speaker 1: by trying to hold people accountable. And I said at
• 3:16
Speaker 1: the time that anybody that's criticizing them should just shut
• 3:19
Speaker 1: the fuck up until you're in the position that they're in,
• 3:25
Speaker 1: until you lose your daughter, your son, your loved one
• 3:28
Speaker 1: to some maniac who comes into the house and murders
• 3:30
Speaker 1: them while they're sleeping probably a good idea to give
• 3:34
Speaker 1: people some room to grieve how they want. But at
• 3:36
Speaker 1: this point I've learned that it's just a new way
• 3:38
Speaker 1: of life, she added. Kelly Gan saw This was one
• 3:41
Speaker 1: of four University of Idaho students killed in November of
• 3:44
Speaker 1: twenty twenty two. Brian Colberger pleaded guilty in July of
• 3:48
Speaker 1: twenty twenty five the four accounts of first degree murder
• 3:51
Speaker 1: and one count of felony burglary as part of a
• 3:54
Speaker 1: deal that spared him the death penalty. He has since
• 3:57
Speaker 1: sought to withdraw as guilty plea. And we have a
• 4:00
Speaker 1: system that affords people like Coburger chance and chance again
• 4:05
Speaker 1: when it comes to trying to get out of prison
• 4:07
Speaker 1: or trying to get off of capital punishment. Meanwhile, we
• 4:12
Speaker 1: have people like the Gonsalva's family, like the Mogan family,
• 4:15
Speaker 1: like the Chapin family, like the kern Odles, and nobody
• 4:19
Speaker 1: cares what's going on for them, Nobody cares how this
• 4:22
Speaker 1: affects them. I find it gross, and I think that
• 4:26
Speaker 1: there is a large gap with how the families the
• 4:28
Speaker 1: victims are treated and with how the accused and now
• 4:31
Speaker 1: convicted are treated. Look, I get it, we have to
• 4:34
Speaker 1: do everything we can to make sure that Brian Colberger
• 4:37
Speaker 1: gets a fair trial if we go that direction, and
• 4:40
Speaker 1: I'm certainly on record talking about that. But at the
• 4:44
Speaker 1: same time, there has to be a medium ground and
• 4:48
Speaker 1: the victims' families, they have to be respected. Gonsalva's father,
• 4:55
Speaker 1: Steve added that every night Christy hopes their daughter visits
• 4:58
Speaker 1: her in her dreams so she can tell Kaylee she
• 5:01
Speaker 1: loves her. This shit is heartbreaking, and reading through those
• 5:04
Speaker 1: autopsy reports, I almost regret that I started. It's so
• 5:11
Speaker 1: disgusting and it's so evil what happened to these people,
• 5:15
Speaker 1: these kids, that it's hard to quantify it with words.
• 5:19
Speaker 1: Do you know how demented and how evil and disgusting
• 5:21
Speaker 1: you have to be to do what Brian Koberger did,
• 5:26
Speaker 1: and not only that, but leading up to it, stalking them,
• 5:30
Speaker 1: watching the house, the whole thing. This fucking guy was
• 5:33
Speaker 1: one step away from becoming Frances Dollar Hide first and foremost.
• 5:37
Speaker 1: Before she goes to bed, she's praying that Kaylee comes
• 5:40
Speaker 1: and visits her. She wants to have a conversation. She
• 5:43
Speaker 1: wants to talk to her, she wants to tell her
• 5:45
Speaker 1: she loves her, she wants to say everything that we
• 5:47
Speaker 1: can't say, Steve said, and then if you don't have
• 5:50
Speaker 1: that dream, you wake up disappointed that you didn't have
• 5:53
Speaker 1: a dream about your baby and had that conversation, and
• 5:57
Speaker 1: then you just try to fake through it. He added,
• 5:59
Speaker 1: I don't even know what to say to that. The
• 6:01
Speaker 1: pain has to be so severe and the suffering has
• 6:03
Speaker 1: to be so traumatic that it must feel like you
• 6:07
Speaker 1: can't even breathe. I know all of us have lost
• 6:11
Speaker 1: loved ones, right, cancer, whatever it might be, and there's
• 6:15
Speaker 1: a hole, even though you know that it was natural causes,
• 6:19
Speaker 1: and you know the medical system did everything they could
• 6:21
Speaker 1: to help them. Whatever, this is something different. We're talking
• 6:25
Speaker 1: about kids who are laying in bed on a regular
• 6:29
Speaker 1: night and who were murdered in a brutal fashion by
• 6:34
Speaker 1: an absolute monster. And now this monster thinks he should
• 6:38
Speaker 1: get a new trial after pleading guilty. Somebody please make
• 6:43
Speaker 1: it make sense. Colberger is now seeking to withdraw the
• 6:47
Speaker 1: guilty plea that spared him the death penalty for the
• 6:50
Speaker 1: murder of Gonzalez, Madison Mogan, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle.
• 6:54
Speaker 1: He was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences in prison
• 6:57
Speaker 1: without the possibility of froll us ten years for burglary
• 7:02
Speaker 1: helicopters volcanoes. Either that or we could have him and
• 7:06
Speaker 1: Chad Daybell fight to the death and then the winner, well,
• 7:09
Speaker 1: they get thrown into a volcano. In his post conviction challenge,
• 7:14
Speaker 1: Colberger argues he received ineffective assistance of council and was
• 7:18
Speaker 1: manipulated by the court appointed attorneys into accepting the deal.
• 7:22
Speaker 1: He also alleges he was led to believe the deal
• 7:25
Speaker 1: would give him better prison conditions, and he now maintains
• 7:28
Speaker 1: that he's innocent. Say what now, you thought you were
• 7:31
Speaker 1: going to have good prison conditions as a lifer. Is
• 7:34
Speaker 1: that what you really thought? Sounds to me like you're
• 7:38
Speaker 1: just grasping at straws because you know that you're fucked,
• 7:41
Speaker 1: and you know that you're not a story anymore, and
• 7:44
Speaker 1: you know that you're going to be in prison the
• 7:45
Speaker 1: rest of your life. That's what it sounds like to me.
• 7:50
Speaker 1: The gonsalvast family said Colberger's attempt to withdraw his plea
• 7:53
Speaker 1: has been difficult for them after years of legal proceedings,
• 7:57
Speaker 1: but Christy Gonsalves said his latest challenge could provide it
• 7:59
Speaker 1: another opportunity for prosecutors to pursue the death penalty. And look,
• 8:05
Speaker 1: that is the big problem for Coburger. If he does
• 8:08
Speaker 1: get this thrown out, he's gonna have to face that.
• 8:11
Speaker 1: And I think that he's going to be found guilty
• 8:15
Speaker 1: if he gets another trial. With all the evidence we've seen,
• 8:19
Speaker 1: especially going through it now, is there anybody out there
• 8:22
Speaker 1: that still thinks this guy's innocent? Like, honestly, probably the
• 8:27
Speaker 1: same people who are trying to tell you that Tyler
• 8:29
Speaker 1: Robinson isn't a very good suspect. Now, of course we
• 8:33
Speaker 1: don't know all the details there yet, right, but it's
• 8:36
Speaker 1: sure looking like they got the right guy. Just like
• 8:38
Speaker 1: I told you after they arrested Coburger. When you go
• 8:41
Speaker 1: through the arrest AFFI David, and you start looking at
• 8:43
Speaker 1: the circumstantial evidence, it becomes pretty hard to dispute it.
• 8:48
Speaker 1: And talking about Coburger, there was an abundance of evidence
• 8:51
Speaker 1: that pointed directly to him. God is looking out for us,
• 8:55
Speaker 1: Christy said, and maybe this is because the first time
• 8:58
Speaker 1: around it was wrong, and this time around he's going
• 9:01
Speaker 1: to make sure it's done right, you know, And that
• 9:03
Speaker 1: is the death penalty. So look, I think that the
• 9:07
Speaker 1: death penalty should have always been what they were looking for.
• 9:11
Speaker 1: They should have never entered into this plea. They should
• 9:14
Speaker 1: have never given Brian Colberger any room to maneuver, and
• 9:18
Speaker 1: they certainly should have put the families through this nonsense.
• 9:21
Speaker 1: And that's most certainly what all of this is a
• 9:23
Speaker 1: bunch of nonsense. If Brian Colberger was innocent, why did
• 9:28
Speaker 1: he get up in that courtroom and tell the judge
• 9:30
Speaker 1: that he was guilty? Why not tell the judge then
• 9:33
Speaker 1: that you're being coerced, that you didn't have the proper
• 9:36
Speaker 1: legal counsel, and that you're not going to plead guilty
• 9:39
Speaker 1: because you're innocent. Could it be because the evidence was
• 9:42
Speaker 1: stacked against you? Could it be that you knew that
• 9:45
Speaker 1: you'd be cooked, And could it be that you think
• 9:49
Speaker 1: that this is the only way that you're going to
• 9:51
Speaker 1: get back in the spotlight. In my opinion, that's what
• 9:54
Speaker 1: it is. I have a hard time believing that Colburger
• 9:56
Speaker 1: thinks he's going to be successful here. Instead, what he
• 9:59
Speaker 1: wants to do is get his name back out there
• 10:03
Speaker 1: and give one last fu to the families. But that
• 10:06
Speaker 1: grandstanding could lead directly to Brian Colberger getting lined up
• 10:10
Speaker 1: for a trip to the firing squad. But I think
• 10:13
Speaker 1: that we're a far way away from any of that occurring,
• 10:16
Speaker 1: and I think that there's a long road before we
• 10:18
Speaker 1: get anywhere near a new trial or anything that looks
• 10:22
Speaker 1: like it. And as things continue to shake out, we'll
• 10:25
Speaker 1: continue to follow along, and when we have some more information,
• 10:29
Speaker 1: we'll get it added to the catalog. All the information
• 10:32
Speaker 1: that goes with this episode can be found in the
• 10:35
  Speaker 1: description box.
