  [SPEAKER_00]: versus compared to where they were at the end of the 2020, five season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think those are two very different questions and answers.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think they're clearly better than they were at this time last year, just like unquestionably.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like, this time last year, people didn't know if they wanted to delve into the starting lineup.

  [SPEAKER_00]: This time last year, when I say people, I'm referencing a lot of jacks fans.

  [SPEAKER_00]: This time last year, a lot of jacks fans were like Trady TN, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Those guys are gone now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So it was Greg News, so I'm gonna couple others, but those are the big three contributors that are gone now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But people didn't know that Devon Lloyd was gonna be in all pro.

  [SPEAKER_00]: People didn't know that Travis ETN was going to score so many touchdowns and be so effective as a, you know, complete back.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He wasn't the most efficient runner of the football last year for the Jaguars, but he was a very good past protector and very good receiver and dangerous running back, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: So he had a pretty complete game to him.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Newsom wasn't even in the picture yet.

  [SPEAKER_00]: to Kobe Myers wasn't here.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Pull Van Lannon wasn't a starter, like a lot changed between the beginning of the offseason program last year and the end of the season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, heck.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Seven games into the season, people wanted to trade Trevor Longer to binge Trevor Longer, so it's difficult to say like what we don't know right now about the 2026 Jaguars, because things happen.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we didn't know that Antonio Johnson was going to get forced into starting action and then end up looking like one of the most talented safeties in the AFC.

  [SPEAKER_00]: like in his ability to turn the football over and play the run and extremely high level and be versatile.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He did so much for them.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The list kind of goes on.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We didn't know Parker Washington was gonna be somebody that you thought you had to pay and pay good money.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I like, I've always liked Parker, but I thought he was like,

  [SPEAKER_00]: you know borderline Y to see for three Y to see for four good one of that, but like now he played like a legitimate top two receiver.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, and you also thought that at this time last year you had a superstar in Brian Thomas Jr., what you still might.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Things change and things change quickly.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And especially when there's a new regime and you haven't seen this player in this system, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: but it's just kind of wild to think about all the different things people didn't know about or thought that they knew about the Jaguars last year and how many of those things got flipped on their head.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I think that they got worse at linebacker.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I've always thought Devon Lloyd was better than Ventral Miller.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Last year, Devin Lloyd was an incredible player for the Jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I still think Ventral Miller is a very good linebacker.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So drop off, how much of a drop off?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Talk about ETN, more complete player, than Chris Rodriguez, probably.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But Chris Rodriguez isn't the only factor, you know, more basal toton, more Lee Quint Allen, can tomorrow Taylor make their roster.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You look at the Jaguar's top two backs right now and what they were able to do last year, compared to what they had entering last year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Chris Rodriguez and Basel Tutten were two of the five most efficient backs in football last year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Travis C. T. and was like in the 40s.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Plus you have Lee Quint Allen who can be that passed down back.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think Tutten can do that too.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I would argue they're better at running back.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And that might sound like a bold take right now, but I think you have a more complete running back stable.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think you have complimentary players.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think you're gonna see that this year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think the run's game's gonna be a lot better.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And part of that has to do with what they've done with the coaching staff and continuity on the offensive line, maybe getting him annual pregnant on the lineup, maybe more healthier Patrick McCary.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think there's no question there better than where they were at the end of the season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Greg Newsom was barely playable as a zone corner.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He was not playing good football, especially against really, really good teams, like the bills, you can Josh Allen in company.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now you have projected Buster Brown, Travis Hunter, Jarring Jones, Jordan Lewis.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I think that they're better at two of those three spots where they lost starters.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Everyone else on the roster, they're similar at the top or the same at the top with better depth.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I do think that the jag wars did a lot to establish more depth over the last two years.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They've got good starting lineups, they do.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think they've done a lot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: to address the depth via the draft and via some preagency, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like Matt Dickerson is a guy that I brought in last year who's good depth, but through the draft, I mean, there's so much depth that they have established over the last two years.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think the guys that you can look at that I think are gonna be really quality depth for them.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Nate Borkerger, for one, I love that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you'll pregnant on if he's not in the starting lineup.

  [SPEAKER_00]: uh... tannercosial as well that i'd end i mean they're tied in position

  [SPEAKER_00]: Compared to where it was last year, I mean, that's the biggest upgrade, probably.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think it'd be hard press to say that there was bigger upgrades.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And Quentin Morris is another good devs piece that was from free agency.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I love that tight end room.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that that's going to be a major strength of the Jaguars in 2026.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And over the last two drafts,

  [SPEAKER_00]: added a manual pregnant on, Jonah Monheim, Wyatt Milim, has keyed up on the offensive line.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's huge too.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And you got more depth on the offensive line when you made Walker little a backup because he couldn't compete with Colvin Lannon, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, they have established much more depth there.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, obviously the end of the season last year they had Jacobi Myers and know what they had in him and same thing with Parker Washington.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi Mars wasn't on the roster at this time last year, and again, you didn't know about Parker being as good as he was certainly, and I think you can get it pretty excited about Josh Cameron as a six round pick.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They really valued CJ Williams too talking about these wide receivers in the depth.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Are those guys potentially better than who you had at wide receiver five and six last year?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I'd still like to see Tim Patrick and Tiel, but certainly younger, more, you know, youthful and maybe have a little bit more tread on the tires, maybe a little bit more explosiveness, definitely with Josh Cameron, then Tim Patrick.

  [SPEAKER_00]: At quarterback, you feel pretty much the same, although Joey Agalar is going to come in and compete, and I think that that's good depth as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Again, we're talking about establishing great depth.

  [SPEAKER_00]: when healthy to compete with anyone last year and beat almost every team, I think, down the stretch, where they needed to improve, again, I think they really improved on the offensive line, down the stretch with Colman Lane and coming in.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They really improved this off season, at tight end, which is gonna help them be more multiple.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They got more efficient at running back with Chris Rodriguez.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And they're healthier up front on the defensive line.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You didn't have Travis Hunter play him football down the stretch for you last year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, how much better is that going to make your football team?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I'd reckon quite a bit.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Healthy Trayvon Walker, healthy Eric Armstead.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And of course, you can't bank on health throughout a season, but that's why you established depth.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think Travis Hunter,

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's probably like easy to say he could be the skeleton key, but for either side of the ball, I think he is the skeleton key for the defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They need him to be a top 10 corner on defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: For everything to kind of click together and them to be a great defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If he's not out there, because he's playing receiver or whatever it may be, injury,

  [SPEAKER_00]: then you have to kind of piece things together a little bit more.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's my honest take on that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think Travis Hunter is the key to that, but there should be no reason you don't have that key this year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think they are better and more equipped to make a run in January, right now, then they were in January of 2026, at the end of the 2025 season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: uh... heading into the twenty twenty five season i thought they could be good i thought they could compete for the division and you know in the end they kind of did what i expected i didn't expect them to be thirteen and four i didn't expect them to have the most explosive offensive football down the stretch but yeah i think they're better

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think depth matters a lot in a league of constant change in injuries.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They've established that over the last two drafts and for agent cycles.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And you look at their best players, are their best players good enough to win.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You started the quarterback position.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And we haven't even talked about coaching, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think they're coaching is fantastic.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think they got better in the coaching staff as well with Brian Picucin, Matthew Orrizo,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence, I think he's good enough to win a lot of dang games in January and maybe in the February.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think his receiving cork can help him do that as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think his offensive line can help him do that in his coach.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And again, I think I look at the defense now and as long as Travis Hunter's out there, I feel like that defense can go toe to toe with anyone because when you have Travis Hunter and Buster Brown playing corner back, you give Josh Hines Allen and Trayvon Walker an extra half a second.
