- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So telling you a story today. Yes, Rufus, I see you telling
- 0:34you a story about something that happened.
- 0:36So yesterday the Krispy Kreme company released a special
- 0:43doughnut series and it all revolves around Harry Potter.
- 0:47And I guess there's a doughnut that represents each house in
- 0:50Harry Potter and they've got these designs.
- 0:53And yesterday morning, obviously, I like to know the
- 0:56weather, especially here, you have to know the weather all the
- 0:58time because if you don't, you might melt during the day or you
- 1:01might get hit by a hurricane. And there is a massive hurricane
- 1:04in the Atlantic Ocean currently running out there and it's
- 1:07causing RIP tides and problems up and down the coast.
- 1:10So I wanted to know where it was overnight.
- 1:13Woke up and turned on the television to watch the local
- 1:17weatherman, who I think is probably the only one of the
- 1:20local guys that gets it right, and started to listen to what he
- 1:25had to say. And then all of a sudden they
- 1:28cut to commercial and they talk about the Krispy Kreme company
- 1:30and their specialized doughnuts that they have right now.
- 1:33So I made a decision. I was like, oh, I got super
- 1:36excited when I saw it because my son-in-law loves Harry Potter.
- 1:40He actually may be one of the biggest Harry Potter fans
- 1:43walking the planet, puzzles, read all the books, like just
- 1:47really studied the whole concept of it.
- 1:49And I saw the Harry Potter doughnuts.
- 1:51Now my days are totally jammed up.
- 1:55I, you know, have I'm very scheduled throughout it.
- 1:59My family was coming back from a trip that they did to Rhode
- 2:03Island and to go see my father-in-law who's not well.
- 2:08And I had this whole day booked. And then I saw these doughnuts
- 2:13and I thought, wow, wouldn't it be really cool for me to be able
- 2:15to get my son-in-law, those doughnuts and they work out of
- 2:18the house. So I wanted to surprise him and
- 2:21drop them off. So I immediately go online and
- 2:25decide I'm going to order these online because I know if I
- 2:28don't, I'm going to get there and I'm there not going to be
- 2:30any doughnuts. So I go online and I order a
- 2:34dozen of these Harry Potter doughnuts.
- 2:36Like they actually have a special box that you order and
- 2:39it's like the Harry Potter doughnuts with four glazed
- 2:42doughnuts that come with it. It's all packed in the box a
- 2:44specific way so I was super excited to do this.
- 2:48Got the mall set U on, ordered it online and then I worked my
- 2:52day around it so that I could go over and drop off the Donuts to
- 2:55him and messaged my daughter and said, Hey, are you guys going to
- 3:00be there? Am I going to can I drop it off?
- 3:02Don't tell him. And she's like, Oh no, I'm not
- 3:04going to tell him. He's going to be so excited.
- 3:06So I and I still can't go near them because I've got this funk
- 3:11and I don't want anybody to get sick.
- 3:13So what do I do? I go over and I'm like, OK, I'm
- 3:16just going to go to the door. I'll drop the stuff off at the
- 3:19door. It was funny because I felt like
- 3:20I was in prison. My daughter's standing there at
- 3:22the glass door with showing me the baby.
- 3:25I'm waving to the baby smiling. We're talking back and forth.
- 3:27My son-in-law comes out and I'm like, stay away from me.
- 3:30I put it on the little table outside their front door and I'm
- 3:33like, but here you can open it. And Oh my gosh, can I just tell
- 3:37you the look on his face was absolutely priceless.
- 3:40He was so excited. He had the biggest smile on his
- 3:44face and he immediately he was like what Harry Potter Donuts?
- 3:47I didn't even know this was happening.
- 3:49And I'm like, I know I just wanted you to be able to have
- 3:52them. I ordered them.
- 3:53And he could not get over how cool it was.
- 3:56And he was so excited about it. Now, this is the point of this
- 4:00story and telling you all this is because this was like a
- 4:03simple thing. This was like Donuts.
- 4:06This was a very simple thing to do, but the amount of joy that
- 4:10it bought brought to him. He took pictures of the
- 4:12doughnuts. He was so excited.
- 4:14He had ate one of them immediately and then my daughter
- 4:16said he had another one. Like he's like, do I know if
- 4:19he's going to eat all 12 doughnuts?
- 4:21I don't. But what I did was I I
- 4:24remembered something and I brought it to him.
- 4:26Now I'm not telling you this story because I want accolades
- 4:29for bringing my son doughnuts, my son-in-law doughnuts.
- 4:32What I'm telling you is the story for is because simple
- 4:35things like that, simple things like a doughnut, bringing a
- 4:40doughnut to somebody or doing something that shows somebody
- 4:43that you think about them, that you know them, that you care
- 4:46about them, matters. It matters.
- 4:48And it doesn't just matter to them.
- 4:50It matters to us to know that we gave in a way that is
- 4:54productive, that we thought of them, and it's just so
- 4:58incredibly sweet. I got a gift in the mail from a
- 5:02listener on the podcast and she sent me something and it was so
- 5:06sweet and so touching and I just loved it.
- 5:09I was a little surprised it wasn't, you know, it wasn't like
- 5:12an expensive item, but it was thoughtful.
- 5:14And that's the point. And it was, and I so appreciate
- 5:17it. And you know who you are.
- 5:19And she sent me the same thing for my daughter and myself.
- 5:21And it was just very cool. And I'm like, I love having
- 5:25that. And I get surprises from people
- 5:28all the time. And I just think, wow, it's so
- 5:30cool. But the point is, something
- 5:32simple can really make someone's day.
- 5:34So what simple thing can you do today to make someone's day?
- 5:39Maybe it's just a doughnut with Harry Potter on it.
- 5:41All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed night and
- 5:43I'll see you tomorrow. Bye.
