October 18 - Psalm 136 · A Chapter a Day Bible Reading

• 0:11
Hello friends, it's Sean here. You have made it to the end of
• 0:15
  the week. It's Friday.
• 0:17
It is the 18th of October. And I'm just delighted that you
• 0:22
have invited me into your day so that you and I can read a Psalm
• 0:26
together, because that's what we do on Friday.
• 0:29
And today we are going to read a special Psalm.
• 0:32
It's a Psalm that you have been busy memorising and you didn't
• 0:36
even know it. Did you realise that you know
• 0:39
half of the Psalm off by heart? Yes, it is a Psalm which is 26
• 0:43
verses and you know half of it off by heart.
• 0:47
And you didn't even know that. And this is a Psalm where the
• 0:50
second half of every verse has the same refrain.
• 0:55
  His faithful love endures forever.
• 0:58
Yeah, you did know that, didn't you?
• 1:01
And today, friends, I'm going to invite you not to sit quietly or
• 1:04
lie quietly or ride your bike quietly or whatever you're doing
• 1:07
quietly, but I would invite you to actually say out loud with me
• 1:12
this call and response. This is the way this Psalm was
• 1:15
written for the worship leader to share the first half of each
• 1:19
verse and for the people to respond with that beautiful
• 1:23
statement of truth about our God that his faithful love endures
• 1:28
forever. If you're sitting on public
• 1:31
transport, this might be a little bit weird for the people
• 1:35
around you. So, so maybe I'll, I'll let you
• 1:38
off the hook. But everyone else, let's let's
• 1:41
say it out loud together. You good with that?
• 1:43
  Oh, me too. How exciting.
• 1:46
We are going to share this and let your hearts just take on
• 1:50
this posture of worship as we proclaim out loud these
• 1:55
incredible statements of faith again and again and again.
• 2:01
Ah, what a gift this Psalm is. Let us share it together.

forever. You love us with a never ending,
• 5:51
unchanging, insatiable, incomparable love that doesn't
• 5:58
just last for this season or our lives here on earth, but it
• 6:02
lasts forever. Your faithful love endures
• 6:08
forever. And in everything that we come
• 6:12
up against today, in the good moments and the challenges, may
• 6:16
this refrain ring true and be ever ready on our lips.
• 6:22
  His faithful love endures forever.
• 6:29
For that faithful love, we are so grateful.
• 6:33
We thank you and we praise you because you love us more than we
• 6:39
can ever understand. And that love will never end.
• 6:44
No, after the mountains have been crushed to dust and the
• 6:48
oceans have dried up, your love will continue for us.
• 6:54
Ah, thank you, our loving God, for that is who you are.
• 6:58
You are love, so we pray all of this with such gratitude.
• 7:03
In the loving name of Jesus, Amen.
