Latest / The Paul Barron Crypto Show / VeChain Joins The Fight🚨Upgrades & Roadmap INTERVIEW
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Today, let's drive into a project overview that we do
- 0:03Speaker 1: a course from time to time, and we're going to
- 0:05Speaker 1: be jumping into v chain a little bit more because
- 0:08Speaker 1: this is a blockchain that is built for people and
- 0:11Speaker 1: their communities and the planet. We're going to find out
- 0:13Speaker 1: what they are up to. So let me bring in
- 0:16Speaker 1: mister Day coming in from v Chane.
- 0:18Speaker 2: How are you, hey, Paul, I'm good. Thank you so
- 0:21Speaker 2: much for having me on.
- 0:22Speaker 1: So you you guys are listen. Vj has been around
- 0:26Speaker 1: for a long time. I've remembered this as one of
- 0:28Speaker 1: the leading Web three platforms back in twenty twenty one
- 0:32Speaker 1: when we saw really an explosion of Web three projects.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Where have you guys been? What have you been doing?
- 0:38Speaker 1: So you know, over the last few years.
- 0:41Speaker 3: That's the question I get asked all the time, is, Hey,
- 0:44Speaker 3: I remember v chain. You guys did a lot back
- 0:46Speaker 3: in the day, you had Walmart, BMW.
- 0:48Speaker 2: What have you guys been doing?
- 0:49Speaker 3: And the interesting thing is that I think since then,
- 0:52Speaker 3: v chain has been continuing to build out use cases
- 0:56Speaker 3: and applications for blockchain technology that companies and everyday people
- 0:59Speaker 3: use every day. But somehow the rest of Web three
- 1:02Speaker 3: forgot to pay attention. And so while we've been off
- 1:05Speaker 3: building DeFi ETFs, finding more platforms for people to sell
- 1:09Speaker 3: and buy crypto, digital asset treasuries, et cetera, the interest
- 1:14Speaker 3: in building useful technology that people can use every day
- 1:18Speaker 3: kind of fell away. People couldn't gamble on that't people
- 1:21Speaker 3: couldn't make a quick buck out of digital transformation. And
- 1:24Speaker 3: so the sad fact of life is we've been busy
- 1:26Speaker 3: building B to B and B two C applications, gathering
- 1:29Speaker 3: five million users on the vibetter dot com platform, rewarding
- 1:32Speaker 3: people for doing.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Better actions every day.
- 1:35Speaker 3: That's all been going on without people realizing that that's
- 1:38Speaker 3: blockchain mass adoption every day at scale. And I want
- 1:42Speaker 3: to help remind people that we're still here.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Okay, So building adoption, I think is a key thing
- 1:49Speaker 1: because obviously we'll see maybe what could be one of
- 1:53Speaker 1: the best adoption cycles coming with all of what we're
- 1:56Speaker 1: seeing right now in terms of growth in the crypto
- 1:58Speaker 1: and the digital asset market in general. Well, I'm looking
- 2:01Speaker 1: at your website, so you've got this for I see it,
- 2:03Speaker 1: and I understand for individuals. Explain what you do, which
- 2:07Speaker 1: would be around for businesses for sure.
- 2:11Speaker 3: So from the early days, Sonny lou Our founder and CEO,
- 2:15Speaker 3: understood that from his background working with complex organizations luxury goods,
- 2:20Speaker 3: that there is a requirement to have a single source
- 2:24Speaker 3: of truth verified data in modern day. Now you have
- 2:26Speaker 3: digital product passports requirements for sustainable supply chain traceability, second third,
- 2:32Speaker 3: fourth tier, and that requirement is only going to get
- 2:37Speaker 3: more stringent as we go. The early use cases for
- 2:40Speaker 3: v chain were around digital product passport supply chain traceability
- 2:44Speaker 3: with the likes of walmup BMW. More recently we've looked
- 2:47Speaker 3: at product authenticity with Lululemon. These are big global brands.
- 2:51Speaker 3: These are Fortune five hundred companies that are using blockchain
- 2:54Speaker 3: technology every day. That was the narrative, I guess, if
- 2:58Speaker 3: you want to call it that that v chain rode
- 3:00Speaker 3: in on and somewhere along the way that okay, that
- 3:02Speaker 3: was fun v chain and continuing to deliver that technology.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Those applications are still being used every week every month
- 3:08Speaker 3: to the tune of millions of transactions.
- 3:10Speaker 2: What's next?
- 3:12Speaker 3: And enterprise blockchain or mainstream adoption for B to B
- 3:15Speaker 3: use cases kind of fell away in the public consciousness.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Since then, the focus has been more about how do
- 3:21Speaker 3: we now put blockchain technology and crypto into everyday people's hands.
- 3:25Speaker 3: How do we get people to have an application on
- 3:27Speaker 3: their iPhone or on their Android device that they use
- 3:30Speaker 3: every day that makes meaningful use of web three and cryptotechnology.
- 3:35Speaker 3: And that's what we're doing right now.
- 3:37Speaker 2: All right.
- 3:37Speaker 1: So you mentioned a brand Lulu Lemon, because this is
- 3:40Speaker 1: one of the big fit brands out there that it's
- 3:45Speaker 1: not like fast fashion. This is a major brand that
- 3:47Speaker 1: in terms of clothing in the market that gets into
- 3:50Speaker 1: young adults people that maybe we'll understand this a little
- 3:54Speaker 1: bit more. But you're talking about authenticity, Explain that how
- 3:57Speaker 1: does that work?
- 3:59Speaker 3: So so, in a number of different markets, counterfeit products
- 4:03Speaker 3: is a particular challenge, and so whether you use QR codes,
- 4:07Speaker 3: unique data, NFC chips and so on, there's a number
- 4:10Speaker 3: of different technology components that you can put together that
- 4:13Speaker 3: give a greater assurance that a product is authentic. Lululemon
- 4:17Speaker 3: obviously is a huge brand. They've got a significant markup.
- 4:20Speaker 3: There's a big challenge for them and making sure that
- 4:21Speaker 3: people are buying authentic product for them. In certain markets
- 4:24Speaker 3: and certain jurisdictions, they're losing millions, if not hundreds of
- 4:27Speaker 3: millions of dollars to counterfeit products that looks like their
- 4:29Speaker 3: product but actually isn't and so it's a constant struggle.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Blockchain technology has been proven for years, since twenty seventeen,
- 4:36Speaker 3: twenty eighteen, to be a useful technology to provide the
- 4:39Speaker 3: base layer of data for multiple supply chain participants, multiple
- 4:43Speaker 3: ingredient suppliers and end manufacturers, and that then can interact
- 4:48Speaker 3: with a verification device on mobile or whatever channel people
- 4:51Speaker 3: tend to use.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Interesting all right, so that could scale because I mean,
- 4:55Speaker 1: this is a problem that we've seen in the space
- 4:57Speaker 1: for some time, especially whether it's CLO industry. You could
- 5:01Speaker 1: get this into luxury goods, all sorts of things that
- 5:03Speaker 1: would roll around this. This has been one of the
- 5:05Speaker 1: promises of Web three for quite some time. I remember
- 5:09Speaker 1: we've talked about this, you know, hundreds of videos. I
- 5:12Speaker 1: feel like, because it is a use case, how far
- 5:15Speaker 1: are we from this becoming real everyday use?
- 5:20Speaker 3: This is real everyday use. It has been real every
- 5:23Speaker 3: day use since twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen. It just seems
- 5:25Speaker 3: to be that people have forgotten, well, people haven't paid
- 5:28Speaker 3: attention to the fact that it's happening or Honestly speaking,
- 5:31Speaker 3: most people don't care what CRM your company uses, what
- 5:34Speaker 3: cloud device.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Your company uses, exactly.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Honestly speaking, this isn't that sexy most of the time,
- 5:39Speaker 3: and people don't need to know what flavor of blockchain
- 5:41Speaker 3: sits underneath your tracing device. It just needs to know
- 5:44Speaker 3: that your product is authentic. And so we'll continue to
- 5:47Speaker 3: do the B to B software as a service, infrastructure
- 5:50Speaker 3: as a service work in the background, whether we get
- 5:52Speaker 3: the plaud it's for it or not, and the customers
- 5:55Speaker 3: and the enterprises will continue to read the benefits.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. Listen, I saw this news on Paramount
- 6:01Speaker 1: and UFC, and I'm looking at this. I don't know
- 6:03Speaker 1: if you guys know that are following the video today,
- 6:05Speaker 1: but there's been a big fight for what's going on
- 6:09Speaker 1: with Warner Brothers. Paramount has been attempting to get access
- 6:14Speaker 1: to It's a huge library. But of course Paramount is
- 6:16Speaker 1: also partnered with UFC. If Paramount wins Warner Brothers, which
- 6:20Speaker 1: would create an even deeper library, this could become a
- 6:24Speaker 1: major partnership with what UFC is doing. And this already
- 6:28Speaker 1: was a big deal because it was going to be
- 6:30Speaker 1: removing pay per views so I thought, well, who in
- 6:32Speaker 1: crypto is connected to this? And then up pops v Chain.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I'm like, what, this.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Is going to be amazing for them, So explain the
- 6:41Speaker 1: partnership first. When you guys, did your deal with Dana
- 6:45Speaker 1: and what are you trying to do with it?
- 6:49Speaker 3: Yes, So the UC is a fantastic platform, a billion
- 6:52Speaker 3: fans worldwide, fast growing, high optane, high visibility. This is
- 6:58Speaker 3: if you're looking for non parts of and sports. By that,
- 7:01Speaker 3: I mean if you're going to get behind an audience
- 7:06Speaker 3: that has an appreciation for technology, that has appreciation for innovation,
- 7:09Speaker 3: that has a global reach, that if you sponsor the
- 7:13Speaker 3: blue team, the red team doesn't hate you, and vice versa.
- 7:16Speaker 3: UFC is kind of universal. Maybe fans may pick one
- 7:18Speaker 3: fighter or another, but everybody loves Daana and so working
- 7:22Speaker 3: with a platform that big is obviously significant in terms
- 7:25Speaker 3: of reach. Working with someone like Dana as an entrepreneur,
- 7:28Speaker 3: obviously he's got significant experience in growing different platforms, relationships
- 7:32Speaker 3: with Meta on the board and further afield. It's a
- 7:35Speaker 3: combination of both UFC or TKO more widely and Dana
- 7:39Speaker 3: as a global entrepreneur. It starts with obviously helping to
- 7:44Speaker 3: raise everyday awareness of web three. That's where it started
- 7:47Speaker 3: years and years ago. We've done a number of demonstrations
- 7:50Speaker 3: of the technology with them around product authenticity, around using
- 7:53Speaker 3: NFC chips, and authentication for merchandise, which again is not
- 7:57Speaker 3: something that's at scale today because frankly, the authenticity of
- 8:00Speaker 3: USC merchandise is not a big enough problem for them
- 8:02Speaker 3: to care about compared to Lulu Lemon, for example. What
- 8:06Speaker 3: I am interested in seeing is that v chains technology
- 8:09Speaker 3: is used in the mainstream UFC app every day by
- 8:12Speaker 3: fans to help them earn rewards for doing better every day.
- 8:15Speaker 3: The BYB Build Your Body app was recently launched a
- 8:18Speaker 3: few months ago in partnership with the UFC, which tracks
- 8:21Speaker 3: the journey of a number of fighters guys who were
- 8:24Speaker 3: three hundred, three hundred fifty pounds discovered MMA, found their
- 8:27Speaker 3: way into the octagon and became champions. The BYB app
- 8:30Speaker 3: allows people to watch workouts from standard workouts to fighter
- 8:37Speaker 3: specific workouts and get rewarded for doing so. And so
- 8:41Speaker 3: Dana's view and that one is, I want my fans,
- 8:43Speaker 3: I want the followers of UFC to become healthier. That's
- 8:47Speaker 3: going to be more easy, more significant, if we give
- 8:50Speaker 3: them a little bit of reward from time to time,
- 8:52Speaker 3: and also we can track and log when people have
- 8:54Speaker 3: verified workouts completed, and we can demonstrate the impact of
- 8:57Speaker 3: our organization that can benefit green financing, that can benefit
- 9:01Speaker 3: purpose financing from banks, that can help.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Reduce the cost of debt.
- 9:05Speaker 3: There's a significant amount that the the Better type apps
- 9:09Speaker 3: can benefit organizations like the UFC, and we're just getting started.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I think this is something intriguing because you look
- 9:16Speaker 1: at the partnership here and to your point, especially around data,
- 9:20Speaker 1: they've done a really good job on the marketing aspect,
- 9:22Speaker 1: but also expanding the reach because even you know TKO
- 9:26Speaker 1: partner with polymarket, they announced their first partnership there. I
- 9:30Speaker 1: think this is only going to expand the UFC brand.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Then you apply what you guys are doing with them,
- 9:35Speaker 1: this could end up scaling in a lot of different areas.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Where would you say right now, you guys see the
- 9:42Speaker 1: partnership going. If you could kind of manifest this out
- 9:45Speaker 1: a couple of years with everything they're doing, where do
- 9:48Speaker 1: you think this could go.
- 9:50Speaker 3: What I'd love to see is the existing the Better apps.
- 9:54Speaker 3: So there's fifty apps on vbetter dot com that help
- 9:57Speaker 3: reward people for doing better actions every day that could
- 9:59Speaker 3: be better for you, you physically, for your community, or
- 10:02Speaker 3: for the planet. Now, not every UC fan is going
- 10:04Speaker 3: to be vision aligned with vchain on doing better for
- 10:07Speaker 3: the wider world, or people have struggles that are closer
- 10:09Speaker 3: to home. Right, So first up, if we can help
- 10:12Speaker 3: people get healthier every day and help reward them for
- 10:14Speaker 3: doing so, that's a good thing. If the UFC can
- 10:17Speaker 3: look at the impact it's having on its fan base
- 10:20Speaker 3: and genuinely become competitive for its fan base doing better.
- 10:25Speaker 3: You've got a billion fans all around the world that
- 10:27Speaker 3: you can catalyze to do something for your organization or
- 10:30Speaker 3: for themselves every day, or for the UFC foundation, or
- 10:33Speaker 3: for a number of good causes that the UFC supports. The
- 10:37Speaker 3: fan engagement and genuine engagement. By that, I don't mean
- 10:40Speaker 3: watching videos and watching highlights. I mean doing something in
- 10:43Speaker 3: the world. If we can catalyze that fan base, if
- 10:46Speaker 3: we can give them challenges, give them activities that can
- 10:49Speaker 3: be activated in their mobile apps, and we can reward
- 10:52Speaker 3: them for doing that every day. That's three hundred and
- 10:54Speaker 3: sixty five billion individual actions that Dana can call the
- 10:58Speaker 3: fans to every day, sorry every year. That's huge. That's
- 11:03Speaker 3: better and we can do that with the tools we
- 11:06Speaker 3: have available to it.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Well, and it's a global you know, this is a
- 11:08Speaker 1: global phenomenon what obviously the UFC has been able to do.
- 11:12Speaker 1: But they're starting to migrate into other components of you know,
- 11:16Speaker 1: entrepreneurialship to what you know Dana's doing. So he's definitely
- 11:20Speaker 1: carrying this across. Maybe this partnership will you know, start
- 11:22Speaker 1: to accelerate in those areas as well. I'm looking at
- 11:25Speaker 1: at this upgrade you guys had just done, which is
- 11:28Speaker 1: the Hiabosa Is that right? Hiabosa is life? Yeah, So
- 11:33Speaker 1: explain what this does for v chain, what's the benefit
- 11:37Speaker 1: for it and where are you going with this one?
- 11:41Speaker 3: So, over the course of the last year, v chain's
- 11:43Speaker 3: been going through the biggest technical upgrades that it's had
- 11:46Speaker 3: in basically since launched to mainenet. I won't go through
- 11:50Speaker 3: all of the technical details. For the simple case of brevity,
- 11:53Speaker 3: we've upgraded staking on the v chain blockchain.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Okay, earning staking rewards is.
- 11:57Speaker 3: No longer going to be passive, so we are encouraging
- 12:00Speaker 3: people to take active control of their steak to have
- 12:03Speaker 3: a better ability to secure the network, and so that
- 12:06Speaker 3: will also have a benefit to the tokenomics. For vth
- 12:09Speaker 3: O vitho which is our reward token and also used
- 12:12Speaker 3: for GAS. It's a two token model, and vchain VET
- 12:15Speaker 3: generates vitos used for GAS vs on the network two
- 12:18Speaker 3: token model simply for separation and make it more user
- 12:21Speaker 3: friendly for anybody building applications. If the governance token is
- 12:26Speaker 3: the same as the gas token, you have all sorts
- 12:28Speaker 3: of complexities like you've seen with Ethereum and others don't
- 12:31Speaker 3: need to do more on that, but so vito will
- 12:34Speaker 3: become more deflationary. We'll see more self custody staking of VET,
- 12:41Speaker 3: so if you have VET on an exchange, you're not
- 12:43Speaker 3: going to earn rewards anymore. Some exchanges also don't pass
- 12:46Speaker 3: on their rewards to their customers for staking, so you
- 12:49Speaker 3: need to.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Get to Stargate.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Stargate is the platform on vchain where you do your
- 12:53Speaker 3: staking and from that you earn the rewards. Hyabusa takes
- 12:57Speaker 3: it a level further where now we have only one
- 12:59Speaker 3: hundred one validators able to produce blocks at any one time.
- 13:03Speaker 3: We are oversubscribed on validators right now, and you've seen
- 13:06Speaker 3: institutions come in and become validators on the network, so
- 13:09Speaker 3: they need to put steak up to become validators and
- 13:13Speaker 3: produce blocks in exchange for awards. You see Fembuschi, you
- 13:16Speaker 3: see Draper Dragon. In there, we have Koel's becoming validators too,
- 13:20Speaker 3: Wendy O and more coming soon. So you actually start
- 13:23Speaker 3: having validators with personalities, validators with purpose, and Wendy's case
- 13:28Speaker 3: particularly offering some of her staking rewards to charity as
- 13:32Speaker 3: part of her commitment while also helping raiseer wends for
- 13:34Speaker 3: v chain. The engagement with the staking side of v
- 13:38Speaker 3: chain now is has more personality, has greater security, and
- 13:42Speaker 3: has greater decentralization. So it's a whole bunch of different
- 13:45Speaker 3: upgrades all at once.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I like it well, the fact that you're doing all
- 13:49Speaker 1: of these things at once. I'm looking at your Twitter account,
- 13:51Speaker 1: which you guys aren't following v chain over on x
- 13:53Speaker 1: to it right now it's v chain official. But the
- 13:56Speaker 1: fact that you guys have all of this occurring at
- 13:58Speaker 1: one time, What does the roadmap look like for twenty
- 14:02Speaker 1: twenty six if you're this active right now?
- 14:06Speaker 3: So we've still got more to do. Interstellar as the
- 14:08Speaker 3: final stage of the renaissance. There's going to be more
- 14:11Speaker 3: technical upgrades that will make it easier for builders for
- 14:13Speaker 3: interoperability with vchain. That's still coming. Honestly speaking, my priority
- 14:18Speaker 3: for twenty twenty six is more adoption of the better applications,
- 14:21Speaker 3: more use of people using vbetter dot com applications every day,
- 14:26Speaker 3: and being able to integrate with partners like the UFC.
- 14:30Speaker 3: We're talking to other major sporting properties, We're talking to
- 14:32Speaker 3: other major enterprises, those who have a demand for sustainable actions.
- 14:37Speaker 3: So whether that's using reusable coffee monks, whether that's using
- 14:40Speaker 3: public transport, decreasing your carbon footprint, using electric vehicles. There
- 14:44Speaker 3: are fifty different ways every day that people can earn
- 14:46Speaker 3: rewards for doing sustainable or better actions, as I said,
- 14:49Speaker 3: for themselves, for their community, or for the planet. There
- 14:51Speaker 3: are hundreds, if not millions of organizations in the world
- 14:55Speaker 3: who want to catalyze that impact. You have a positive
- 14:58Speaker 3: impact on the world, which also has a bunch of
- 15:00Speaker 3: business benefits for them. If we can partner with those
- 15:02Speaker 3: organizations have their customers start validating those sustainable actions every
- 15:08Speaker 3: day on vchain, we're driving the right type of actions.
- 15:12Speaker 3: We're driving use of the technology we're rewarding people for
- 15:15Speaker 3: doing good in the world. That's going to be a
- 15:17Speaker 3: key to our growth over the next few weeks and months.
- 15:19Speaker 3: So that's where a lot of our energy is going
- 15:21Speaker 3: right now.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I like it and the Builder's Hub. I was looking
- 15:25Speaker 1: at your website here, what exactly is this? So is
- 15:28Speaker 1: this where you're helping companies and developers start to build
- 15:31Speaker 1: on it? Or how does this work?
- 15:34Speaker 3: Absolutely, we've got about three hundred enterprise applications from all
- 15:37Speaker 3: sorts of different major enterprises on the B to B side.
- 15:40Speaker 3: On the B two C side with the better we've
- 15:42Speaker 3: got fifty and growing applications. Anybody who wants to look
- 15:46Speaker 3: through documentation videos, who want to apply for grants, we
- 15:50Speaker 3: have a great founder's program and be better as well.
- 15:52Speaker 3: This is the place to do it. You've got examples,
- 15:54Speaker 3: code repos anything you need. You can go to the
- 15:57Speaker 3: Builder's Hub on vchain dot org and you can start
- 16:00Speaker 3: your journey there. You've even got an introductory video from
- 16:03Speaker 3: Sonny there that talks about what it's like to be
- 16:05Speaker 3: the founder of blockchain. Definitely watched that one. That took
- 16:08Speaker 3: some serious production, but there's a lot of real great
- 16:10Speaker 3: nuggets of experience and wisdom in there from surviving and
- 16:13Speaker 3: thriving through many different cycles of Web three.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Well, you know, it's interesting because web three is one
- 16:19Speaker 1: of the I think it was one of the cornerstones
- 16:21Speaker 1: of even our own channel when we first started really
- 16:25Speaker 1: reporting on blockchain, Web three was I felt going to
- 16:28Speaker 1: be one of the breakouts. And you know, it's kind
- 16:30Speaker 1: of like the Internet. It becomes one of those things
- 16:32Speaker 1: that are kind of hidden in plain sight where we're
- 16:36Speaker 1: going to start seeing more and more adoption exactly to
- 16:39Speaker 1: the use cases that you guys have.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Done so far.
- 16:42Speaker 1: So intriguing that all this has been going on. I'm
- 16:45Speaker 1: glad that we got a chance to cover it because
- 16:47Speaker 1: this I think we'll open some eyes for a lot
- 16:49Speaker 1: of people on understanding what you guys are up to,
- 16:52Speaker 1: but also more importantly, what web three is up to
- 16:55Speaker 1: as a whole, which is cool. So thanks so much
- 16:58Speaker 1: for coming in today.
- 16:59Speaker 3: We pre.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Thanks, Paul. I appreciate that you bet all.
