- 0:00Speaker 1: Now the Mark Simone Show on seven ten woor filling
- 0:05Speaker 1: in for Mark, here's Ken Rosatto. Really really nice to
- 0:09Speaker 1: be here Halloween. Happy Halloween to you. Mark. Is a
- 0:12Speaker 1: nice long weekend. You may remember me from all the
- 0:15Speaker 1: years I've been on New York City TV, and it
- 0:17Speaker 1: was the morning news, Acer morning and midday. In fact,
- 0:20Speaker 1: for a bunch of those years at Channel seven, I
- 0:23Speaker 1: was there twenty years. I was also the morning anchor
- 0:25Speaker 1: for a year at the Channel five. I was there
- 0:28Speaker 1: at good Day. I did that back in two thousand
- 0:31Speaker 1: and two to two thousand and three, if I recall.
- 0:33Speaker 1: And these days, I host a daily show on a
- 0:35Speaker 1: New Jersey based news channel. It's called on New Jersey.
- 0:38Speaker 1: You could stream it live or watch it rerun at
- 0:41Speaker 1: o NNJ dot com. And a food side for you foodies.
- 0:45Speaker 1: It's the Food Dude. It's free. It has lots of
- 0:49Speaker 1: recipes on there if you want to think of something
- 0:51Speaker 1: to cook on the weekend or on a weeknight. Thefood
- 0:53Speaker 1: Dude dot us. The food Dude dot us. Good to
- 0:57Speaker 1: be here. We got so much happening. Busy, busy week
- 1:01Speaker 1: Phone lines are open at eight hundred three two one
- 1:05Speaker 1: zero seven ten eight hundred three to two one zero
- 1:08Speaker 1: seven ten. Well, we just heard during the news a
- 1:11Speaker 1: massive flooding. Did you see that weather yesterday? Man, I
- 1:14Speaker 1: mean we heard about it. We got the heads up
- 1:17Speaker 1: that it was coming. But man, until it comes, you
- 1:20Speaker 1: don't think it's going to be as bad as it was.
- 1:22Speaker 1: The high winds and that heavy rain one to three
- 1:24Speaker 1: inches of rain in New York left some parts of
- 1:27Speaker 1: the low lying areas Brooklyn, especially under a feet of water.
- 1:31Speaker 1: And as we heard so far that we know of,
- 1:34Speaker 1: we have two people who died unfortunately in that flash flooding.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Just awful, awful. Just remember, especially if you live in
- 1:41Speaker 1: a basement apartment, whenever you have a big storm headed
- 1:44Speaker 1: our way, please stay upstairs. If you live upstairs and
- 1:47Speaker 1: there's a basement apartment, invite your neighbors to come up
- 1:50Speaker 1: and spend the afternoon or whatever with you, or the
- 1:53Speaker 1: evening if there's a big storm. And of course, don't
- 1:56Speaker 1: drive into or onto a street if you don't know
- 1:59Speaker 1: how deep the water is. They say, turn around, don't drown.
- 2:03Speaker 1: All you need is like six inches or four inches
- 2:05Speaker 1: of water whatever. You could lose control of your car,
- 2:07Speaker 1: So don't take that risk. And then of course, there's
- 2:10Speaker 1: that awful news that happened down in the islands in
- 2:12Speaker 1: Jamaica Hurricane Melissa. So far we know fifty nine deaths.
- 2:17Speaker 1: It was just disgusting, how horrible those poor people struggling.
- 2:22Speaker 1: And there was one mother who was talking about how
- 2:24Speaker 1: she tried to comfort her kids. Listen up, who's the
- 2:29Speaker 1: candidate on Let's see? Where did I? I just did
- 2:33Speaker 1: something to that sound bite. I'm sorry, but this mother
- 2:35Speaker 1: talked about how she's trying to comfort her child or
- 2:39Speaker 1: her children. But it's hard to do that, as she
- 2:42Speaker 1: says it, with all the debt destruction around her, having
- 2:46Speaker 1: lost friends and friends, having lost homes as well, And
- 2:49Speaker 1: imagine then having to be the tough person and be
- 2:54Speaker 1: strong for your child. But with fifty nine people that
- 2:57Speaker 1: we know have so far lost in Jamaica, that number
- 2:59Speaker 1: is going to go up, I think, sadly, as they
- 3:02Speaker 1: find more bodies in remote areas. It is now coming
- 3:05Speaker 1: up on ten minutes after eleven o'clock on your Friday Halloween.
- 3:09Speaker 1: The mayor's race continues to tighten. But is it too
- 3:12Speaker 1: little too late? Well, here were the three candidates at
- 3:16Speaker 1: the recent debate.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Who's the candidate on the left that can somehow derail him,
- 3:21Speaker 2: because I don't see anybody with a national presidence that
- 3:23Speaker 2: can pull that off.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Where are you on that?
- 3:26Speaker 1: I see somebody right here in my zoom camera. And
- 3:29Speaker 1: by the way, only for you zoom.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I hate zoom, but for you. But where's the stephen A.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Smith presidential bubble.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I'd have to give too much money, Bill, I'd have
- 3:40Speaker 1: to give up too much money. The Democrats definitely need
- 3:42Speaker 1: an outside here. Yeah, that was obviously stephen A. Smith
- 3:45Speaker 1: and Bill Maher talking about the candidates, and here were
- 3:48Speaker 1: the candidates of the debate.
- 3:49Speaker 3: I am the last person on this stage that mister
- 3:55Speaker 3: Trump wants to see as mayor. I am Donald Trump's
- 3:58Speaker 3: worst nightmare, as a progress of Muslim immigrant who actually
- 4:01Speaker 3: fights for the things that I believe in. Oh, if
- 4:03Speaker 3: you believe Andrew Cuomo, who's calling up Trump all the time,
- 4:07Speaker 3: I'm going to stand up to him, or mandamie, I'm
- 4:09Speaker 3: going to stand up to him. He stand up to
- 4:11Speaker 3: President Trump, who controls all the money.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Guess what we the citizens lose.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Well, this morning we had Andrew Cuomo in. He was
- 4:18Speaker 1: on MENTI in the morning and we was talking about,
- 4:21Speaker 1: among other things, the infusion of cash that former mayor
- 4:24Speaker 1: Michael Bloomberg had donated through a political action committee. But
- 4:28Speaker 1: it looks like it might be just too little, too late,
- 4:30Speaker 1: because we've got three poles. If you saw these polls
- 4:33Speaker 1: that came out in the last week, and the closest
- 4:35Speaker 1: pole has Cuomo. Though he improved, he's still ten points
- 4:40Speaker 1: behind zoron Mamdani. The amazing thing is people are buying
- 4:45Speaker 1: Mamdanni's lines. Will they revolt in six months or a
- 4:50Speaker 1: year when they find out that everything he promised, literally
- 4:53Speaker 1: down to the item, is impossible. He can't do He
- 4:57Speaker 1: doesn't have the authority as mayor to do any of
- 4:59Speaker 1: the things he's talking about. He can't freeze the rent,
- 5:01Speaker 1: he can't give you free food, he can't all the
- 5:04Speaker 1: things he's talking about. Sounded like a wonderful communist fantasy,
- 5:11Speaker 1: but it can't happen. It doesn't happen that way. In fact,
- 5:14Speaker 1: the one experiment where there was a community supermarket in
- 5:18Speaker 1: Kansas City failed miserably. In spite of the millions upon
- 5:22Speaker 1: millions of dollars infused by the state, it failed miserably.
- 5:26Speaker 1: They had to shut it down. It was a disgrace.
- 5:27Speaker 1: It became basically a den of crime. People went there
- 5:31Speaker 1: to shoot up drugs. They stole items. Because you're supposed
- 5:34Speaker 1: to sign out items and be a looted a certain amount.
- 5:37Speaker 1: They weren't following the rules. It was a disgusting breakdown
- 5:40Speaker 1: of humanity. And if you think it's going to be
- 5:42Speaker 1: better here, I'll scratching my head to wonder where you're
- 5:46Speaker 1: coming from. Switching over to New Jersey. New Jersey is
- 5:50Speaker 1: interesting right now. And I should remind everybody you're listening
- 5:53Speaker 1: to seven to ten, woar the Voice of New York.
- 5:56Speaker 1: It's Ken Rosotto win from Mark on Halloween Friday, and
- 5:59Speaker 1: those phone lines are we're open eight hundred and three
- 6:01Speaker 1: to two one zero, seven to ten. In New Jersey,
- 6:04Speaker 1: it's Chitdarelli and Mikey Cheryl. And right now all the
- 6:08Speaker 1: new polls, and they were two done two days apart,
- 6:11Speaker 1: so I guess one was done on Tuesday and I
- 6:13Speaker 1: believe one was done on Thursday. In both cases they
- 6:17Speaker 1: have Mikey Cheryl one point ahead of Jack Cheddarelli, but
- 6:24Speaker 1: the margin vera is three points, so that means that
- 6:27Speaker 1: Jack Chitdarelli could be two points up at this point,
- 6:30Speaker 1: depending on how you look at it. The bottom line
- 6:33Speaker 1: is the energy this man has right now and the
- 6:35Speaker 1: support behind him. I'm seeing I live in New Jersey,
- 6:37Speaker 1: I see Chitarelly signs everywhere. I'd say for every ten
- 6:41Speaker 1: Chittarelli signs, I'm seeing one Mikey Cheryl sign And last
- 6:45Speaker 1: night Chittarelli was on there was a town hall that
- 6:47Speaker 1: Fox News had with Sean Hannity. Listen to the response
- 6:51Speaker 1: he got from the crowd as he walked in.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Let's go maybe hometown crowd, hometown crowd.
- 7:12Speaker 3: It it just became a Trump.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Rally, or as Jack Chitarelli followed up with, it became
- 7:17Speaker 1: a Chitarelli rally, because that's what Chitdarelli is finding everywhere
- 7:20Speaker 1: he goes throughout the state. It starts out with a
- 7:23Speaker 1: few hundred people, it quickly grows to a few thousand people,
- 7:25Speaker 1: people cheering him on, people coming up to him. He
- 7:27Speaker 1: has four Democrats in the state who have either endorsed
- 7:31Speaker 1: him or have shifted parties to the Republican Party and
- 7:34Speaker 1: endorsed him. So this is something the opposite can't be
- 7:38Speaker 1: said for Mikey Cheryl right now. And the fact is
- 7:40Speaker 1: that New Jersey has eight hundred and sixty thousand more
- 7:44Speaker 1: registered Democrats than it does Republicans, So Mikey Cheryl should
- 7:49Speaker 1: be ahead by twenty points right now, fifteen to twenty points,
- 7:53Speaker 1: and she's not. Most of her support is from women
- 7:57Speaker 1: and from younger people. Younger people not to vote, especially
- 8:01Speaker 1: in off year elections, by anywhere near the numbers of
- 8:05Speaker 1: as older people and the older people are supporting Jack Cheddarelli,
- 8:08Speaker 1: So it'll be interesting to see what happens. I recently
- 8:11Speaker 1: had a polster on my show that I do on
- 8:13Speaker 1: New Jersey O n NJ dot com, and I do
- 8:17Speaker 1: that every day in New Jersey, and the pollster was saying,
- 8:20Speaker 1: how when you when they survey different people and they
- 8:24Speaker 1: say that they are likely voters, and then you it
- 8:27Speaker 1: turns out that half of them who say one thing
- 8:30Speaker 1: obviously doesn't come to pass. And he said that that
- 8:32Speaker 1: means that either they're not being honest or when they
- 8:36Speaker 1: say they're going to be a likely voter, that they
- 8:38Speaker 1: don't realize something's going to come up. So when you
- 8:39Speaker 1: see a poll of likely voters, as much as it's
- 8:42Speaker 1: probably more accurate than someone than a poll of just
- 8:45Speaker 1: registered voters, you know that doesn't mean they've signed a
- 8:49Speaker 1: contract saying I will vote and this is how I'm
- 8:51Speaker 1: going to vote, you know, so just just remember that,
- 8:53Speaker 1: keep that in mind. Jack Chitdarelli was talking about the
- 8:56Speaker 1: recent polls.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Our internal poll in twenty one said that we had
- 8:59Speaker 3: a real shot this time. The internal polling says a
- 9:02Speaker 3: whole lot better. But listen, all I could tell is
- 9:04Speaker 3: wherever I go around the state, the energy's electric. The
- 9:07Speaker 3: reception of minority communities has been overwhelming positive. And when
- 9:10Speaker 3: Democratic mayors across the state are endorsing in the Republican nominee,
- 9:14Speaker 3: it tells you we're on the.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Sum Now, apparently some of the ballots are a number
- 9:20Speaker 1: of the ballots that have been returned early. All we
- 9:22Speaker 1: know is when we get ballots returned from Democrats or Republicans,
- 9:25Speaker 1: we don't know how the people voted. So for all
- 9:28Speaker 1: we know, people could have registered Republican but voted Democrat.
- 9:32Speaker 1: So you never know when you get the returned polls,
- 9:35Speaker 1: the early ballots, I should say. But nonetheless, here's Jack
- 9:39Speaker 1: talking about the early ballots.
- 9:41Speaker 3: We've seen the greatest number of Republicans returned vote by
- 9:43Speaker 3: mail ballots. That's a very very good sign. They went
- 9:45Speaker 3: out and last third week of September, and we're matching
- 9:48Speaker 3: them voter for voter here in the six days or
- 9:51Speaker 3: five days of early voting that we've had thus far.
- 9:53Speaker 3: That'll conclude on Sunday. Listen, if we go into election
- 9:56Speaker 3: day within a certain number of points, we're going to
- 9:57Speaker 3: win this thing.
- 9:58Speaker 1: And then, and I think he's right, the fact is
- 10:02Speaker 1: that Republicans tend to wait till election day. Democrats tend
- 10:06Speaker 1: to early vote. That's been the pattern for the last
- 10:09Speaker 1: ten to fifteen twenty years wherever early voting has occurred.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I remember as a kid, early voting only existed like
- 10:15Speaker 1: one day before election day, and it was meant for
- 10:17Speaker 1: people who had physical challenges or the elderly, and then
- 10:20Speaker 1: that became two or three days. Then it became anyone
- 10:23Speaker 1: who wants to vote early. Then the pandemic happened and
- 10:25Speaker 1: everybody got ballots in the mail, and it kept changing,
- 10:28Speaker 1: so no longer do we have an election day. The
- 10:30Speaker 1: problem with that is you could vote a month early,
- 10:34Speaker 1: a month before election day for somebody, and then between
- 10:37Speaker 1: when you early vote at election day you find out
- 10:39Speaker 1: that the person is a mass murderer, you know and
- 10:42Speaker 1: then what your vote is cast, and once it's cast,
- 10:44Speaker 1: that's it. You can't go and change it. So this
- 10:46Speaker 1: is the problem I have. I'm sure you probably have
- 10:48Speaker 1: with early voting, but while it exists, take advantage of it.
- 10:52Speaker 1: The Democrats do. Republicans should take advantage of it as well.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Make sure your vote gets in because come election Day,
- 10:58Speaker 1: anything could happened. Bad weather, you get sick, you have
- 11:01Speaker 1: to work late, you never know, get that vote in asap.
- 11:05Speaker 1: In New Jersey you can early vote until Sunday, and
- 11:08Speaker 1: then if you don't vote by Sunday, you have to
- 11:10Speaker 1: wait because Monday there is no voting. Then Tuesday you
- 11:13Speaker 1: have to vote in person, and that is election Day.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Seven ten WR the Voice of New York. It is
- 11:20Speaker 1: Halloween Friday, and this is Ken Rosotto in on the
- 11:22Speaker 1: Mark Simone Show. Give us a call eight hundred and
- 11:25Speaker 1: three to two one zero seven ten. You ever get
- 11:28Speaker 1: kind of really tired with all the household drudgery, all
- 11:31Speaker 1: the chores around the house. Apparently a company in California
- 11:35Speaker 1: has come up with a robot. Now you're going to say, Ken,
- 11:38Speaker 1: there've been robots. No, they literally are mass manufacturing a
- 11:43Speaker 1: robot that is five foot six right now, it's a
- 11:46Speaker 1: humanoid robot, so it's one of those walking things. It
- 11:50Speaker 1: can talk, it can communicate with you, just like you
- 11:53Speaker 1: know the robots in the movies from years ago. And
- 11:56Speaker 1: this thing is going to cost twenty thousand dollars. When
- 11:59Speaker 1: I read this, I thought, either A it's not going
- 12:02Speaker 1: to be out for fifty years, or B it's going
- 12:04Speaker 1: to cost one hundred thousand or more. Now twenty thousand dollars.
- 12:08Speaker 1: And in fact, if you want to rent it, they
- 12:11Speaker 1: have a let me see, let me get the details
- 12:13Speaker 1: for you.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Here.
- 12:14Speaker 1: It says here, if you want to test it out first,
- 12:17Speaker 1: you can use a per month subscription plant. That's what
- 12:20Speaker 1: they're calling it, and that is apparently like four ninety
- 12:24Speaker 1: nine or something like that. So it's almost like renting
- 12:26Speaker 1: a car, testing out a car or something. And this
- 12:29Speaker 1: thing could be trained to do just about anything. Water
- 12:31Speaker 1: plants do the laundry, eventually, probably cook your meal, clean floors,
- 12:37Speaker 1: do whatever, sweep. So how nice would that be to
- 12:40Speaker 1: do all your household chores, especially if you are physically challenged,
- 12:44Speaker 1: or if you're a single person and you have no
- 12:46Speaker 1: one to help you, or if you're an elderly person
- 12:48Speaker 1: and you want some company. Granted it's not a human,
- 12:51Speaker 1: but nonetheless it is a character walking around that may
- 12:55Speaker 1: make you feel almost like having a pet, that may
- 12:57Speaker 1: make you feel like somebody is with you too, to
- 13:00Speaker 1: keep your company. Seven to ten WLA The Voice of
- 13:03Speaker 1: New York. There was a New Manhattan Institute poll out
- 13:05Speaker 1: that shows that if Congresswoman Elise Stephanic were to run
- 13:08Speaker 1: against Governor Coffee Hochel, who talks with the big porcelain veneers. Oh,
- 13:14Speaker 1: I said, I would never say that again. I'm sorry,
- 13:16Speaker 1: Kathy Hochel, that if Elise Stephanic were to run against
- 13:21Speaker 1: Kathy Hokel for governor of New York, Stephanic would beat
- 13:24Speaker 1: her by one point. That is significant. New York City
- 13:28Speaker 1: may be blue, the state, though, is not. The state
- 13:31Speaker 1: is purple. You get out of the tri State, you
- 13:33Speaker 1: get up like north of Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, you see
- 13:36Speaker 1: things turn red rather quickly. Poles are just, of course,
- 13:40Speaker 1: a momentary snapshot of opinion, but it shows you that
- 13:42Speaker 1: New York State is very much up for grabs outside
- 13:45Speaker 1: of New York City, and the citizens are fed up
- 13:48Speaker 1: with the status quo. So we'll see what happens with that.
- 13:50Speaker 1: But she has not officially announced that she would run
- 13:53Speaker 1: for governor, but I think at this point if she
- 13:55Speaker 1: did announce, you would see a Republican victory first time
- 14:00Speaker 1: in many, many years in New York. Seven ten wor
- 14:03Speaker 1: the Voice of New York, marcuz Off. This is Ken
- 14:05Speaker 1: Risotto filling in again, taking your calls. Next one eight
- 14:09Speaker 1: hundred three two one zero seven ten one eight hundred
- 14:13Speaker 1: three two one zero seven ten Partly Sonny, a little
- 14:16Speaker 1: Wendy today for your Halloween mid fifties. In just a bit,
- 14:19Speaker 1: we'll speak with Republican New York City Councilwoman Joanne Ariola
- 14:23Speaker 1: about the race for mayor on what she thinks it
- 14:25Speaker 1: possible Mam Dannie mayrialty would mean for New York City.
- 14:29Speaker 1: The Times, eleven twenty seven ten. WR will be right
- 14:32Speaker 1: back
