- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Hello everyone, welcome back to the Astrology for Beginners podcast.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Stephanie Kate Boucher, and I am so happy to have you here.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: This is the podcast for you if you have ever wanted to learn how to read a natal
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: chart or were kind of interested in astrology and wished that you understood more
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: about it but didn't know where to begin or it seemed too complicated and you didn't
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: have the time or the resources to invest in learning it.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: My goal is to break things down for you episode by episode in the most simplified
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: way that I can so that you can learn to speak the language of the stars.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Thank you for learning astrology with me.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Hey everyone, welcome back.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: We are here again for another round of astrology school.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Class is in session, if you want to think of it that way.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Or maybe it's not school.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's just like a fun chat with friends over coffee instead.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: It's whatever you want it to be, I think.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: This is an exciting show today.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: We are shifting gears for this episode,
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: at least,
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: because we aren't just going to be talking about natal charts today.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Your natal chart is part of the discussion.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: You'll still need it to proceed with this episode,
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: but we are going to take the next step in our astrology journey,
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: and we're going to talk about transit charts.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Some of you, in fact, have been asking if we could talk about transit charts.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Some people who are relatively new to astrology have wanted to know what astrology charts are.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Or maybe some of you have been confused about what people mean when they talk about transits.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: How are these other charts, transit charts, different from a natal chart and what are they used for?
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Why do we have them?
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Some of you have wondered why when you look up the meaning of particular aspects on
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: a website or in an app,
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: if you've ever done that,
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: If you've ever Googled a particular aspect to find out more about what it means,
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: they might stumble across a definition of an aspect that says Jupiter opposite
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Jupiter or Mars square Mars.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: And then that feels confusing because they're thinking, how can Mars be square Mars?
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: A natal chart only has one Mars, right?
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: I don't get it.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: So today we'll cover what a transit chart is, what they are used for, why we have them.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: I'll give you some examples of actual transits I'm having right now in my life and
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: the ways that they're showing up for me in my day to day.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: And then I'll be talking about an actual transit,
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: an event happening in the sky today that you're going to want to pull a transit
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: chart for,
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: for yourself,
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: because this one is going to have an impact on your life over the next several months,
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: if not the next two years.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: So if you're listening to this well after the release day, that's okay.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Don't worry about the timing because it's still going to be relevant for you unless
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: you're listening in 2027 or beyond.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Okay, so what are transit charts?
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Well,
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: the word transits refers to where in the sky all of the planets and other celestial
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: bodies are right now.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: or at any particular moment in time that you want to look up,
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: because you can look up any day of your life,
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: past,
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: present,
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: or future.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: And a transit chart shows you where everything is in the sky, what the sky looks like at a given moment,
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: in relation to where everything was when you were born.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: It compares the configuration of the sky at a particular moment in time,
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: like say right now,
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: with your natal chart.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: And the reason we use them is because while your birth chart is kind of like the
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: blueprint of who you are and why you're here and what you came here to work on,
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: what's happening in the sky on any day is
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: The transits is what's influencing the way that you are experiencing your life at that particular time.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: The current sky is always influencing all of humanity as a collective unit,
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: and it's interacting with each of our birth charts differently.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: to create our own unique experiences day to day, week to week, month to month, etc.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: And so you can use a transit chart to see what types of energies you have available
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: to you or what types of energies are likely to be coming up for you at certain times.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: If you understand what type of energy you have to work with,
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: then you can use it advantageously,
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: or at least try to pull the best from it.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: It allows you to understand your current experience of life better and make the most of it.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: So if there's a really positive,
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: easy energy coming your way in a certain area of your life,
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: you might want to know about that so that you can put some extra energy there and
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: make real progress rather than not knowing about it and having it slip by you unnoticed.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: Or alternatively,
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: if challenging energy is coming your way,
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: you can find ways through your actions and your thinking,
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: the way you frame things mentally,
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: to try and funnel that energy into the more positive possibilities associated with
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: that energy,
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: rather than blindly sinking into the shadow side of that energy.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Because we do have choices in this life, right?
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Of course, there are some things that are completely out of our control and life can happen.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: And there's always going to be a certain amount of chaos.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: But we can choose.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: to an extent, how to use the energies and events that come our way.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: Your astrology isn't simply happening to you.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: It's not fixed or fatalistic.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: We can be co-creators in our experiences here, for better or worse.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: So if you ever do see a transit coming in that you don't like the look of, please do not freak out.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: I will be the first to tell you that that can be problematic and unhealthy.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: Instead, focus on what the positive possibilities are in that transit.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Funnel your energy in that direction as best you can and just watch out for the shadow side.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: Watch out for the pitfalls.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: It will be okay.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: So as I've said many times on this podcast,
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: your needle chart is a snapshot of where all of the planets and celestial bodies
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: were at the moment of your birth in the specific location where you were born.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Your natal chart is essentially a transit chart for the moment you were born.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: At the moment you were born, what became your natal chart was just a set of transits for everyone else.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: That particular configuration that was in the sky at that moment was affecting
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: everyone else on the planet temporarily.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: But for all the other people, it was fleeting.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: It was a short-term experience.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: For you, it's baked into who you are because that's the moment you hopped into this life.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: And that was very intentional, by the way.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: I believe you chose that moment of your birth so that you could have that
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: particular configuration to work with and use for the rest of your life.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: That was a configuration that was going to give you the best shot at getting the
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: types of lessons you thought you needed.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: And so here you are.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: You were born.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: You have this needle chart now to work with for the rest of your life.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: It tells you a lot about yourself and the life experiences you're going to be working with.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: It tells you what types of energies you've brought into this life with you.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: It tells you what types of energies and patterns you're inheriting from your family.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: and your ancestors.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: It tells you about the energetic patterns and experiences that you were expecting
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: to get and probably did get during your childhood.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: It tells you about the types of lessons you wanted to work on in this life and where you wanted to grow.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: It alludes to the types of things you wanted to do in the world or accomplish in
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: your life,
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: the types of relationships you planned,
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: your talents,
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: your character traits.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: your shortcomings also,
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: the types of struggles or challenges you were willing to take on when you got here,
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: all kinds of different things that sort of live inside you and make up your
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: personal experience here on Earth.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: But what about the outside world?
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: What happens all along your journey here to trigger or activate all of these
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: experiences and these growth edges that you thought you'd have or that you planned?
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Well, what happens is that the planets, of course, don't stay where they were when you were born.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: They keep on moving.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: each one according to the patterns that they always follow.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: The sun moves on its path at its particular speed,
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: returning to the same spot once a year on your birthday.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: The moon moves all along its path at its particular speed, returning to the same spot once a month.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: And all the other planets move on their paths at their own speed, doing the exact same thing.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: So they keep moving,
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: and as they move,
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: they interact with your natal chart to create new energetic possibilities.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: While moving along their orbits,
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: the planets pass through the different houses of your natal chart,
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: giving you a glimpse of those different energies,
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: giving you a chance to have the experiences and work on the energies that come up
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: with that planet there.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: You still have a natal chart.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: That's the basis of who you are, and you'll always have that.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: But this other chart, this transit chart, adds an additional layer to your current experiences here.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: And importantly, the transiting planets create aspects with your natal planets.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: And these are what trigger the larger events in your life and what triggers your
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: learning experiences to actually happen.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: These transiting planets to your natal planets are kind of what set in motion the
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: specific lessons you knew you'd be getting when you came into your lifetime.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: So,
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: some of these transits are pretty quick,
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: just short term transits that last a few days or even just a few hours.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: The moon,
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: for example,
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: travels very quickly,
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: and so the transiting moon might create an aspect with one of your natal planets,
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: like a conjunction or a trine or any other aspect,
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: that only lasts a few hours.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: Those transit aspects aren't insignificant by any means,
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: and in fact they can be really meaningful,
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: but they tend to have more to do with the mood of the day or the mood of a
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: couple of days rather than setting off really big life events most of the time.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: The Sun or Mercury or Venus,
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: when one of those transiting planets forms an aspect to a natal planet,
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: that'll last a few days.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: Because they're typically moving about a degree every day or so, give or take.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: And aspects always have orbs of at least a couple of degrees on each side, if not more.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: So if you include the entire orb of that transit, they last a bit longer.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: Those have a little more impact, right?
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: Because they span over a longer time.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: But what's even more significant are the transits that last a longer time.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: These would be things in the sky that move slowly.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: the lunar nodes move slowly.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: The outer planets.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: And by outer, in this context, I'm talking about Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: They move slowly.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: Chiron, the planetoid, slow.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: These types of transits can last weeks or months or even years, depending on the planet in question.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: So to use an example, right now, I have transiting Saturn and
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: in Pisces opposite my natal Mars in Virgo.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: That means that Saturn,
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: the position of Saturn in the sky right now,
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: today,
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: as of the time of this recording,
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: is opposite where my Mars is in my natal chart.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: I have my natal Mars at 17 degrees Virgo, and Saturn is currently at 15 degrees Pisces.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: In fact, Saturn recently went retrograde.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: That means it looks like it's moving backward in the sky, even if it's technically not.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: And that retrograde started when Saturn was at 19 degrees Pisces,
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: which means I'd already experienced that opposition a first time earlier this year
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: when it moved over 17 degrees Pisces on its way to 19 degrees Pisces.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: But then it passed backward over 17 degrees Pisces again in reverse over the summer.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: And eventually,
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: when Saturn goes direct again in November,
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: it's going to move forward and then pass over 17 degrees Pisces a third time early
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: next year.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: And because Saturn moves pretty slowly...
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: This transit is impacting my life over the better part of a year.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: And,
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: Saturn transits aren't known for being easy,
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: by the way,
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: especially when they form hard aspects like squares and oppositions.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: Transit Saturn opposite natal Mars is typically going to be a time in life when you
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: feel like there are just a lot of things standing in your way.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: There are things you want to do.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: That's Mars.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: There are actions you want to take.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: But there are circumstances in your life coming up that are preventing you from
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: being able to take those actions,
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: or at least preventing you from taking them in the way you'd prefer to take them.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: But you can't get around them easily because the circumstances are very real.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: Often it comes in the form of responsibilities that have to be met,
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: or authority figures that you're bumping up against,
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: or systems that aren't working in your favor.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: Responsibilities, authority, systems, those are all Saturnian things.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: So what you end up with is a lot of frustration,
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: a lot of feeling like you're getting stuck,
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: or like things are moving too slowly,
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: or they're just really challenging to get through.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: And this can all be really frustrating.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: And indeed,
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: someone experiencing this transit is almost certainly going to spend a fair amount
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: of time feeling challenged.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: But this transit, like most tougher transits, is not simply here to make someone miserable.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: In fact, despite how hard it feels in the moment, it's really, really useful.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: People tend not to like Saturn transits because they're difficult, but we need Saturn.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: We desperately need it.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: Saturn makes us deal with reality, and it wants us to work with our real circumstances individually.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: as they actually are,
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: not as we wish they were,
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: and then build something solid out of those circumstances that really works.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: When it passes through a part of your life or a house in your chart,
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: Saturn's going to show you where you haven't been up to snuff.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: And it's going to have you deconstruct whatever isn't working or doesn't work anymore and
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: And then it's going to bring you lessons that would have you get your act together, be more mature.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: And it's going to ask you to work hard and lay new foundations that can help you
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: build something solid and useful that will stand the test of time,
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: something that's going to last.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: For me,
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: this transiting Saturn and Pisces is all happening in my sixth house of daily
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: routines of work and employment and service and health.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: And so far,
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: I've been experiencing this as having to find ways to balance all of the spiritual
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: types of work that I want to be doing all the time.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: That's Mars in the 12th house, right?
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: So...
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: balancing all the spiritual types of work I want to be doing and the projects I'd
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: like to move full steam ahead with,
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: with the practical day-to-day responsibilities and the long-term responsibilities I
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: have as an adult human.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: All of my sixth house stuff.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: And so it's been about finding ways of doing justice by both of those things,
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: sixth house and twelfth house things,
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: and putting structured,
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: organized systems in place,
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: that's Saturn,
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: to make space for as much of it on both sides as I can.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: Oppositions are really about seeing both sides of an issue ultimately and finding ways to balance them.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: It's not easy, though.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: Saturn doesn't make things easy.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: It asks you to be a grown-up and put in a lot of sustained effort.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: But if you're willing to do the work and you're willing to persevere through all
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: that hard work,
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: you'll end up with something much better and much more solid and worthwhile than
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: the things that just get handed to you,
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: typically.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: additionally,
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: and fortunately for me,
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: I also have some harmonious aspects occurring with transiting Saturn right now,
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: too,
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: at the same time as this tougher one.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Saturn is forming a trine with both my Sun-Jupiter conjunction in Cancer,
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: and it's forming a trine with my natal Moon-Uranus conjunction in Scorpio.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: These are all water signs involved here, and trines are easier, more harmonious aspects.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: And that adds another layer to this.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: I won't get into all of the possible astrology here,
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: all of the different potential meanings of everything.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: But I'll kind of summarize it by saying that these trines,
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: I think,
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: are softening my overall experience of the Mars-Saturn opposition.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: Because Saturn trine Jupiter, for instance, can increase one's ambition.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: and give them more stamina to keep going.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: That's really going to help with the work involved in that Mars opposition.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: There's perseverance energy there,
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: along with a belief that if you just keep doing the work,
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: it's all going to come to fruition.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: which it may very well do with Jupiter involved.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: And with the sun involved also, there's a sense that you don't mind all this work as much.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: You see the purpose in it, so you feel like you can afford to just keep doing it and be patient.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: Stop your worrying and just keep going.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: The rewards will come later on.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: Saturn trine Uranus,
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: on the other hand,
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: is also lovely because it can make someone more willing to make the changes they
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: need to make in order to restructure things,
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: right?
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: I was just talking about restructuring daily routines and behaviors and ways of working.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: And with this aspect,
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: you can break out of old routines or old ways of doing things and create new
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: routines and structures.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: Uranus makes it feel easier to do that.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: Saturn trinatal moon brings in emotional maturity,
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: which makes it easier to face the challenges coming from the Saturn-Mars opposition.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: the reason I mention all of this is to try and demonstrate the ways in which
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: multiple aspects in a chart can work together to create a holistic experience,
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: rather than just looking at the meaning of one aspect in isolation.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: The holistic view is what creates an overall flavor of what's going on.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: And in this case, yes, there's one pretty big thing in the transit chart that looks hard.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: But then you can look at other things happening simultaneously and say,
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: hey,
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: it's going to be okay because look how much support I have with this.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: Sure,
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: it's going to feel frustrating some of the time,
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: but I have the tools I need right now to work with this.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: Of course, this is just one example using one set of transits.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: Transit charts can show up in all sorts of ways,
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: and you will have your own set of transits on any given day of your life.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: So you can go to the show notes wherever you're listening.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: Click the link to the transit chart calculator at astro-seek.com.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: You can use an app if you have an astrology app of some kind on your phone.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: There are so many of them.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: But you're going to put in your birthday, time, location, just like you do with your natal chart.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: And underneath that, you'll put in the day and time that you want to pull up transits for.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: That might be today, if you want to see what's going on for you right now.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: It could be a time from your past,
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: if you want to see what was going on during some important time of your life.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: Or it can be some time in the future.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Once you have that, here's what you'll want to consider.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: First, what signs are the transiting planets currently in?
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: What is that energy like?
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: This is kind of collective.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: This is the energy the whole planet is feeling because we are all feeling the
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: effects of that planet being in that particular sign,
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: like how Saturn is currently in Pisces.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: We all get to feel that.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: Next, where are the transiting planets falling in your natal chart?
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: Which of your natal houses are each of the planets transiting through?
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: OK, so I just mentioned that, you know, Saturn is in Pisces.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: And for me, Pisces rules my sixth house.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: So Saturn is in Pisces, but Saturn is also transiting my sixth house.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: OK,
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: what type of energy might each of those planets in those respective houses be
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: bringing you given that house locations?
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: And,
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: and then you'll want to assess what aspects are the transiting planets making to
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: your natal planets.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: That will be shown with all the colored lines running through the transit chart,
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: just like they do with a natal chart.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: And when you do that,
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: you'll really want to think all these positions through and think these aspects
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: through to try and find meaning in them.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: How are they showing up for you?
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: Putting it on paper helps.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: We've talked about some of the ways of doing that in prior episodes.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: I like to make columns with one planet in the aspect in the column on the right and
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: the other planet in the aspect in the column on the left.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: Write down the meaning of each planet in their respective columns.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: And right in the middle of them, note what the aspect is.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: Is it a square?
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: Is it a conjunction?
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: Write down the meaning of that aspect in the middle.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: and try to come up with some possibilities.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: Is this aspect going to bring out the best in those planets?
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Or is it likelier to bring out the shadow side of the planets and make things a little more prickly?
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: And of course, the house and sign are always the where and the how.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: Now, here's what I want you to practice with.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: And this is one of the reasons I'm really covering this topic today.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: Today,
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: Tuesday,
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: September 17th,
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: 2024,
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: the day that this episode is being released,
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: at least here in North America,
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: you might be in a time zone ahead of that.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: It could be the 18th for you.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: But on the 17th here in the U.S., we are having tonight at 1034 p.m.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: Eastern Time.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: or using military time,
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: that would be 2234 Eastern Time,
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: there will be a partial lunar eclipse in the sign of Pisces.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: 25 degrees of Pisces to be exact.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: Now, this is the first eclipse to take place in the sign of Pisces in many years.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: I think the last time we had eclipses on the Virgo-Pisces axis was eight years ago,
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: back in the fall of 2016.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: So it's been a minute.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: Eclipses usher in change.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: They force growth.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: They happen in pairs along the same axis, so opposite signs.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: And where they're taking place has to do with the signs that the lunar nodes are in.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: So for the past couple of years,
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: we've been having eclipses along the Aries-Libra axis because of the lunar nodes.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: The north node is currently in Aries, and the south node is exactly opposite that in Libra.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: We're not done with those yet.
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: In fact, we'll be having a solar eclipse in Libra in October.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: But we're veering towards this next set of eclipses as the nodes start getting
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: ready to change signs in January.
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: Remember, the nodes always move in a retrograde fashion.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: They move the opposite direction of everything else on the wheel.
- 26:08SPEAKER_00: They move clockwise.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: So the north node is moving from Aries to Pisces,
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: and the south node,
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: of course,
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: is moving from Libra to Virgo early next year.
- 26:19SPEAKER_00: And what this is going to do is usher in a new set of experiences for us all to focus on.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: Over the next couple of years, we're all going to be shifting from having a lot of Aries Libra lessons.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: So self versus other,
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: independence versus partnership,
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: assertion versus cooperation,
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: and all these Aries Libra lessons.
- 26:43SPEAKER_00: to Virgo Pisces lessons.
- 26:45SPEAKER_00: So that's focused,
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: detailed perfectionism versus abstract,
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: go with the flow,
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: blurring of boundaries kinds of lessons.
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: It's service of the individual through good work versus service to humanity through compassion.
- 27:03SPEAKER_00: It's organized execution of tasks versus imagination and mysticism.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: It's clarity versus confusion sometimes.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: It's cold hard facts versus faith in things you can't see or that aren't tangible, like spirituality.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: It's reality versus dreams.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: Control versus surrender.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: Ooh, that one feels like the crux right there to me.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: Control versus surrender.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: These are the types of collective lessons we're all going to be looking at more
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: over the next couple of years.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: And this north node lunar eclipse in Pisces is going to get things going.
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: Remember, the north node is where we're headed.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: It's where the growth edge is.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: And that's going to be Pisces very soon.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: So I would go and pull up a transit chart for yourself using the time of this eclipse,
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: using your location and your local time zone,
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: and see what house of your natal chart this eclipse falls into for you.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: Where is the Pisces ruled house of your chart?
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: And is it making any major aspects to the planets in your natal chart?
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: The house that this eclipse is in for you is where you are likeliest to feel a
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: shift in your life and where you can probably expect to meet changes or have
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: developments or things coming up in your life that encourage you to look at Pisces
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: Virgo energy.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: This is a part of your life that will become more activated over the course of this
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: eclipse cycle starting today.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: the eclipse will take place at 25 degrees of Pisces,
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: so you'll want to see if you have any natal placements in the later degrees of Pisces.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: If you do,
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: this eclipse is going to impact you a little more than most people,
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: and the effects could be stronger for you.
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: You can even expect the themes of that planet,
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: the conjunct planet,
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: to become more prominent in your life as a result of this eclipse too.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: I'd also check to see if you have planets around 25 degrees of other signs,
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: particularly Virgo because that's the opposite side of the axis,
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: but also Gemini and Sagittarius.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: Those will be squares and you could also wind up feeling some of that eclipse
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: energy in the houses ruled by those signs too.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: All right, what else can I tell you about this eclipse?
- 29:33SPEAKER_00: Well, the eclipse is forming a conjunction with Neptune, and Neptune is a co-ruler of Pisces.
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: So it's conjunct its own ruler.
- 29:42SPEAKER_00: Remember,
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: the ruler of an eclipse,
- 29:45SPEAKER_00: or any full moon,
- 29:46SPEAKER_00: because lunar eclipses are essentially just full moons on steroids,
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: energetically speaking,
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: but the ruler...
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: is the planet that rules the sign it's taking place in.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: And so this eclipse is conjunct its ruler,
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: which is kind of unique and really going to create a doubling down effect in
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: regards to this flowy,
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: dreamy Neptune Pisces energy.
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: It's like extra Pisces, this eclipse.
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: which is great for creativity, intuition, spiritual awareness, spiritual growth, psychic proclivities.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: All of these things could come to people a lot easier starting now and unfolding
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: over the next several months.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: That's great.
- 30:31SPEAKER_00: It's great for imagination, creativity, artistry.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: Any sort of creative or artistic project that you might have been thinking about
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: starting or trying to get off the ground could really benefit from the new energy
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: that's coming in.
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: You might also find that you or those around you
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: are becoming more compassionate.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: That would be just wonderful.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: But there are also some pitfalls with Pisces and Neptune.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: There could be more confusion, more blurred lines.
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: Sometimes there's a potential for deception because we can't always see things as clearly.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: Things aren't as sharp.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: So it's a good idea to be careful there.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: Escapism frequently comes up with these energies.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: So any of the ways that you might typically use to distract yourself regularly or
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: occasionally from your current reality,
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: substance use obviously falls under this category,
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: but so does watching TV or excessive daydreaming.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: We all like to escape sometimes, and that's fine.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: You just want to be mindful of this energy because Neptune and Pisces can make it
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: easier to let things get to an excessive level that might not be healthy for you.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: And also the body can be more sensitive too.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: More sensitive to anything really.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: Drugs and alcohol.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: All chemical substances,
- 31:58SPEAKER_00: chemicals in general,
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: toxins,
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: even emotional toxins like negative energy can feel worse or even intolerable under
- 32:07SPEAKER_00: this energy.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: So it can help to focus on your wellness more,
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: be good to your body,
- 32:13SPEAKER_00: be good to your spirit,
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: honor yourself and your needs,
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: and hold your boundaries.
- 32:19SPEAKER_00: That's important.
- 32:21SPEAKER_00: It's also forming a square with its other co-ruler, Jupiter, because Pisces has two rulers.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: And again, this is not dissimilar to the conjunction with Neptune.
- 32:32SPEAKER_00: Jupiter expands things.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: So it's going to further expand on that magical, mystical Pisces energy.
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: And that's great.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: We just have to be careful to stay relatively grounded and not to lose sight of
- 32:45SPEAKER_00: what's real,
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: what's solid,
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: and get too big for our bridges.
- 32:50SPEAKER_00: Also,
- 32:51SPEAKER_00: just mention again,
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: I was just talking about this,
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: Saturn has already been working its way through Pisces for quite a while.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: So it's likely you're already working on tightening things up in that part of your life.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: But this eclipse is going to set off a new phase of that set of lessons.
- 33:09SPEAKER_00: Things are going to possibly move a little more quickly here now.
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: And they might change direction.
- 33:15SPEAKER_00: There could be a course correction involved here.
- 33:17SPEAKER_00: So keep that in mind.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: Now, one final word on this eclipse.
- 33:22SPEAKER_00: I would caution you not to get too caught up in the day of the eclipse.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: A lot of times people are expecting some big eventful thing to happen on the day or
- 33:33SPEAKER_00: during the week of an eclipse.
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: And then it comes and goes and it feels like nothing has happened.
- 33:39SPEAKER_00: And so they assume there wasn't any impact for them.
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: Usually that's not the case, though.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: Eclipses aren't so much about something happening on a day or during a week.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: That certainly can happen, and it does happen to some people.
- 33:54SPEAKER_00: You certainly might notice some shifts taking place over the next couple of days or
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: during the next couple of weeks during the eclipse window.
- 34:02SPEAKER_00: But if you don't, that doesn't mean nothing is happening and nothing is going to happen.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: Remember that eclipse cycles are a process.
- 34:11SPEAKER_00: They unfold in six-month increments over a couple of years until the signs start changing again.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: So you have the next six months to see developments in the part of your life that
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: the eclipse is activating.
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: And you might not notice it right away.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: This has happened to me.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: In fact,
- 34:31SPEAKER_00: the thing in my life that has changed the most since the eclipses last spring is
- 34:36SPEAKER_00: something that started for sure around the time of the solar eclipse in April.
- 34:43SPEAKER_00: It took me six months to get where I am with it all.
- 34:47SPEAKER_00: It was a huge transformation, but I didn't even see it taking place until July.
- 34:53SPEAKER_00: In hindsight, I see very clearly that it started the first week of April.
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: But in early April, I couldn't see it yet.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: What can really help, by the way, is keeping a journal.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: Or if you don't like journaling,
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: even just jotting down some bullets each week during the eclipse season or around
- 35:11SPEAKER_00: the eclipses,
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: highlighting what's going on in your life,
- 35:15SPEAKER_00: what you're noticing around you might be helpful to you later on so that you can
- 35:20SPEAKER_00: look back and see how these eclipses actually affected you and how they're showing
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: up in your life.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 35:28SPEAKER_00: That wraps up today's episode.
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: Happy eclipse season, everyone.
- 35:33SPEAKER_00: If you haven't already,
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: please take a moment to make sure you're following the show on whatever app you
- 35:38SPEAKER_00: like to listen on.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: That will ensure you never miss an episode,
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: and it will also ensure that more astrology lovers can find it.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: That's all for now, everyone.
- 35:48SPEAKER_00: Thanks for being here today.
- 35:49SPEAKER_00: Have a great week, and I will see you next time.
