to know. 252 years ago, today, in 1773, a group
• 0:21
of colonists disguised as Native Americans boarded
• 0:25
three British ships and deliberately dumped the
• 0:27
consignment of Tea into Boston Harbor has a bold
• 0:31
act of protest. That purposeful stand galvanized
• 0:35
public sentiment for liberty and helped unite
• 0:38
disparate communities, marking a crucial milestone
• 0:41
toward representative self -government in the
• 0:44
American colonies. So now you know. And now,
• 0:49
it's time for the weather report. This morning,

Tuesday will be at 8 .30 with the low tide at

• 1:38
degrees for the water temperature. Looking ahead
• 1:42
in the weather. Wednesday will be mostly sunny

• 2:49
to tell them. Sunny mornings send you. In local
• 2:54
news, Boston residents continue to navigate significant
• 2:58
health care challenges, despite a high insurance
• 3:01
coverage rate of 98 .3 percent, according to
• 3:05
a recent survey conducted by the Center for Health
• 3:07
Information and Analysis. Notably, 28 percent
• 3:12
of residents reported avoiding care due to costs.
• 3:14
  reflecting ongoing affordability issues exacerbated
• 3:18
by high deductible plans. The survey, which included
• 3:22
over 5 ,000 households, also highlighted that
• 3:25
nearly 90 % of those with medical debt had insurance
• 3:29
at the time the debt was incurred. As discussions
• 3:33
  continue among lawmakers, advocates emphasize
• 3:36
the need for reforms to improve access and affordability
• 3:40
for all they staters. Now on to sports. Injuries
• 3:50
to Patrick Mahomes, Micah Parsons, and Devonte
• 3:53
Adams highlight the dangers of an 18 -game season.
• 3:58
Some believe more football means more excitement
• 4:00
and revenue, but not all players agree. Mahomes
• 4:05
stated, you have seen the amount of injuries
• 4:07
that have kind of piled up at the end of seasons.
• 4:11
As of Week 15, three players crucial to their
• 4:14
teams are now on injured reserve. with three
• 4:16
coaches delivering the same grim diagnosis. It
• 4:20
didn't look good. The NFL's injury report routinely
• 4:24
lists hundreds of players raising concerns about
• 4:27
the toll of an extended schedule. Ultimately,
• 4:31
players question whether they should accept more
• 4:34
risk for their substantial salaries. Last night,
• 4:38
on Monday night football, Aaron Rodgers passed
• 4:40
for 224 yards and two touchdowns. and beat the
• 4:45
Dolphins 28 -15 to stay atop the AFC North. Pittsburgh
• 4:51
won its second straight game and 23rd straight
• 4:54
at home by overwhelming Miami over the final
• 4:57
35 minutes. Rogers connected on 23 of 27 passes
• 5:03
that frigid a Crisher Stadium, looking right
• 5:06
at home with the lights on and temperatures in
• 5:08
the teens. Miami's playoff hopes vanished. as
• 5:12
its four -game winning streak was snapped. In
• 5:16
local sports, Celtic fans were left disappointed
• 5:20
as Kate Cunningham scored 32 points and grabbed
• 5:23
10 rebounds, leading the Detroit Pistons to a
• 5:27
112 -to -105 victory on Monday night. Paris Levert
• 5:33
and Toveas Harris each contributed 13 points,
• 5:36
for the Eastern Conference leading Pistons, who
• 5:39
have now won four straight games. Jalen Brown
• 5:43
led the Celtics with 34 points, 8 rebounds, and
• 5:46
7 assists, while Derek White added 31 points.
• 5:51
Boston struggled with their 3 -point shooting,
• 5:54
making only 10 of 39 attempts, as Detroit capitalized
• 5:58
on their missed opportunities. In top news, iRobot,
• 6:05
the maker of the Roomba vacuum, has filed for
• 6:07
bankruptcy protection late Sunday night. After
• 6:11
35 years in operation, the company will be acquired
• 6:14
by its contract manufacturer, China -based Pisa
• 6:18
Robotics. iRobot assures consumers that there
• 6:21
will be no anticipated disruption to its app
• 6:25
  functionality, customer programs, or ongoing
• 6:28
product support. Despite being a pioneer in household
• 6:32
robotics since its founding in 1990, iRobot's
• 6:36
market share has significantly eroded due to
• 6:39
  increased competition. Chief Executive Officer
• 6:43
Gary Cohen stated that this transaction marks
• 6:45
a pivotal milestone in securing the company's
• 6:49
long -term future. In business news, Hard Rock
• 6:55
International and Mets owner Steve Cohen have
• 6:58
received final approval from the New York State
• 7:00
Gaming Commission for an $8 .1 billion casino
• 7:04
project near Citi Field in Queens. This marks
• 7:08
the project's final green light. following earlier
• 7:11
approval from the New York Gaming Facility Location
• 7:14
Board. The development is expected to include
• 7:17
a hotel, concert venue, and new public green
• 7:20
space, along with creating 23 ,000 union jobs
• 7:24
and over $1 .8 billion in community benefits.
• 7:30
Governor Kathy Huckle stated that the licenses
• 7:32
were awarded based on local support and sustainable
• 7:36
economic plans. In crypto movement, Bitcoin is
• 7:41
  down 4 % to $86 ,000. Ethereum is down half a
• 7:47
percent to about $2 ,900. And XRP is down half
• 7:52
a percent to $1 .86. Moving on to a more local
• 7:57
vibe. In our community spotlight on health and
• 8:01
wellness, we are working with a national Pilates

• 8:34
and Framingham, just be sure to tell them...
• 8:37
sunny mornings sent you by. And now, back to
• 8:42
the show. Let's talk science. The fundamental
• 8:46
nature of living things challenges assumptions
• 8:48
that physicists have held for centuries. On October
• 8:53
8th, 2024, the field of physics was plunged into
• 8:57
controversy when the Nobel Prize in Physics was
• 9:00
awarded for discoveries about artificial intelligence.
• 9:04
For most of the 20th century, physicists largely
• 9:07
ignored living systems, seeing them as mere machines.
• 9:12
However, many physicists now believe a mystery
• 9:14
unfolds in every microbe and animal, challenging
• 9:18
  basic assumptions and potentially redefining
• 9:21
the field. Understanding life as a self -organizing,
• 9:25
autonomous system may help astronomers detect
• 9:28
biosignatures on distant planets, while also
• 9:31
  advancing artificial intelligence research. And
• 9:37
in entertainment news, Bob Iger is doing it again.
• 9:43
In October 2005, Bob Iger announced a deal that
• 9:47
  stunned the entertainment industry. Standing
• 9:50
next to Steve Jobs, Iger revealed that Disney
• 9:53
would sell digital downloads of select ABC and
• 9:56
Disney Channel shows via Apple's iTunes Store.
• 10:00
This marked the first time a major Hollywood
• 10:03
studio allowed consumers to bypass traditional
• 10:06
broadcasting. Now two decades later, Iger is
• 10:10
making waves with a groundbreaking deal involving
• 10:12
OpenAI. Consumers can create short -form videos
• 10:17
featuring Disney characters, which will stream
• 10:20
on Disney+. Additionally, Disney is investing
• 10:24
$1 billion in OpenAI. Well, alrighty, folks.
• 10:29
It's time for the quote of the day. And today,
• 10:34
our quote comes from the American writer and
• 10:36
philosopher, Henry David Thoreau. And he said,
