- 20:05amendment by Amya James Pardon Williamsburg. Whitley County Fiscal Court
- 20:11approved several agreements and financial measures during its Tuesday meeting,
- 20:16including a major road improvement agreed agreement with the Kentucky
- 20:20Transportation Cabinet and a first reading of a budget amendment ordinance.
- 20:26Following approval of the meeting agenda and routine financial business,

- 20:36for the Local Area Road Program LARP. Judge Executive Pat
- 20:42White Junior said the project represents more than three million
- 20:46dollars in road improvements when the county's required matching funds
- 20:51are included. The funding will support improvements on sixteen county roads,
- 20:56with more than eighty percent of the project funded through

- 21:09have been difficult to fund through the county budget. The
- 21:12court also approved a contract through the Kentucky Law Enforcement
- 21:17Protection Program LPP allowing the Whitley County Sheriff's Office to

- 24:56Our next article is Weddele attorney says Brashear fundraiser destroyed
- 25:02evidence in campaign contribution case. In a court filing, former
- 25:07London Mayor Randall Weddle's attorney said the pre trial discovery
- 25:12process revealed Basheer's chief fundraiser deleted text messages by Tom
- 25:18LOFTUS Kentucky Lantern Frankfurt. The attorney for the former London
- 25:24Mayor Randall Weddle, says that in the spring of twenty
- 25:28twenty three, chief fundraiser for Governor Andy Basheer's re election
- 25:33campaign destroyed vital evidence in pending criminal case against Weddell
- 25:38for making excess campaign contributions to Bresher. Weddell was indicted
- 25:45by the Laurel County Grand Jury on March thirty first,
- 25:48in an investigation by Attorney General Russell Coleman. The indictment
- 25:53consists of four counts of making excess campaign contributions totaling
- 25:58ninety three thousand and late twenty twenty two to Brashear's
- 26:02campaign for reelection as governor and to the Kentucky Democratic
- 26:08Party the KDP. Weddell has pleaded not guilty, and a
- 26:14hearing in Laurel's Circuit Court is scheduled for the case
- 26:17on Wednesday. In a memorandum filed earlier this month in
- 26:21preparation for the hearing, Weddell's attorney, Guthrie True of Frankfort,
- 26:26said that the information he received from the prosecution during
- 26:30the pre trial discovery process shows that the attorney General's
- 26:35star witness, who solicited the contributions at issue, has destroyed
- 26:40vital evidence. The star witness, True is referring to James
- 26:46Lucas Johnson, who was a main fundraiser for Brasher's gubertorial
- 26:51re election campaign and the KDP in twenty twenty two,
- 26:56and remains in that role now as basher Can continues
- 27:00to raise money for superpacks that are funding his exploration
- 27:06of a possible run for president in twenty twenty eight. Indeed,
- 27:11right after the meeting in which Mayor Weddle reported the
- 27:14contributions problem to the Governor, the Attorney General star Witness,
- 27:19the high ranking fundraiser in question, deleted vital text messages
- 27:24between himself and Mayor Weddle that were exchanged at the
- 27:28time of the contributions were made texts that prove Mayor
- 27:32Weddle's innocence, True wrote in the mimigram. What's more, the
- 27:37discovery makes it clear that these are just a sampling
- 27:41of the many issues that the trial court will have
- 27:44to address. This case is nothing but blunder piled upon blunder.
- 27:50True decline to elaborate when asked by the Kentucky Lantern
- 27:55on Tuesday about his broadside, which is an entrance reduction
- 28:00to a memoriam offering a detailed argument to move the
- 28:04case from Laurel County to Franklin County. Kevin Graut, the
- 28:10spokesman for Coleman's office said court rules governing pre trial
- 28:15publicity prohibit him from commenting on the memorandum. If Johnson
- 28:21indeed deleted the messages from his own phone, he did
- 28:26not delete the same messages from Weddele's phone. True, got
- 28:30those Johnson wettletax from Weddell's phone and file them with
- 28:34the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance years ago when the
- 28:39registry was making its own initial investigation of the same matter.
